- 0:05Don Armstrong: From our new city studios in Texas, USA, it's the In Wheel Time Car Talk Show.
- 0:11Don Armstrong: Just ahead, Mr.
- 0:12Don Armstrong: Carfax Patrick Olsen joins us.
- 0:14Don Armstrong: Jeff has the motor minute, and I'll review the 2026.
- 0:18Don Armstrong: I want to make sure that I got this right.
- 0:21Don Armstrong: I'll review the 2026 Land Rover Range Rover.
- 0:25unknown: Right.
- 0:26Don Armstrong: Now you're going to say, Well, wait a minute, Don.
- 0:28Don Armstrong: Didn't you have that not too long ago?
- 0:30Don Armstrong: Yes, I did have the Range Rover, but this is another one and it's different.
- 0:36Don Armstrong: Different color.
- 0:37Don Armstrong: Different color and uh different propulsion.
- 0:40Don Armstrong: Oh.
- 0:41Don Armstrong: There's that.
- 0:42Don Armstrong: There's propulsion.
- 0:44Don Armstrong: Yeah.
- 0:44Don Armstrong: Um, meaning that this particular vehicle is the dynamic autobiography.
- 0:52Don Armstrong: No, auto autobiography.
- 0:56Don Armstrong: We're gonna review it.
- 0:56Don Armstrong: And and yeah, we are.
- 0:58Don Armstrong: If I can if I can get the name out, get this.
- 1:01Don Armstrong: This is the sport dynamic se ph e vlace your raids with the biggest.
- 1:07Don Armstrong: Is that they don't even make a bumper sticker that's big enough to hold all of that.
- 1:11Jeff Dziekan: Oh wow.
- 1:12Don Armstrong: Or a bumper.
- 1:13Jeff Dziekan: They don't even make bumpers that big anymore.
- 1:14Don Armstrong: Well, that that's all that's all colored in.
- 1:16Mike Marrs: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:17Don Armstrong: Anyway, we have Patrick.
- 1:20Mike Marrs: Yes, sir.
- 1:21Mike Marrs: Absolutely.
- 1:22Don Armstrong: Well, let's get Patrick up here and talk to him.
- 1:24Don Armstrong: Patrick Olson, you sir, are in the hot seat.
- 1:28Don Armstrong: Okay, I'm ready.
- 1:31Don Armstrong: You're always you're always ready.
- 1:32Don Armstrong: Hey man, it's good to see you.
- 1:33Don Armstrong: How you been?
- 1:34Don Armstrong: Great, I'm doing well.
- 1:35Don Armstrong: How are you guys doing?
- 1:36Don Armstrong: Well, well, pretty good, pretty good.
- 1:38Don Armstrong: So uh Patrick is the editor-in-chief at Carfax.
- 1:41Don Armstrong: And if you don't know about Carfax, what rock are you living under?
- 1:47Don Armstrong: Because how long has Carfax been around?
- 1:49SPEAKER_00: We've been around really since 1984.
- 1:52SPEAKER_00: We passed our 40th anniversary a couple of years back now.
- 1:55Don Armstrong: Wow.
- 1:55Don Armstrong: Well, congratulations! Because uh, you know, um, all of us that are in the car business, and I kind of some sort of way consider us in the car business, um uh, we know about Carfax.
- 2:09Don Armstrong: But you know, it wasn't on the tip of everybody's tongue in 1984.
- 2:14Don Armstrong: And I think now this is just me and my observations, Carfax really didn't get going until the dealers brought it into the dealerships and say, This used car right here has got a Carfax on it, and then all of a sudden it exploded.
- 2:32Don Armstrong: Well, it was for them to to have someone else do the work for them.
- 2:35Don Armstrong: But oh basically, yeah, yeah.
- 2:37Don Armstrong: And I'm am I wrong on that?
- 2:39SPEAKER_00: No, I think and I think it was tied into that was the the with the was a phrase we still use today, which is show me the Carfax, right?
- 2:47SPEAKER_00: Um when we when we launched first with the very first uh Carfax commercial using Car Fox, Car Fox was actually a hand puppet that a dealer was using to fool somebody.
- 2:59SPEAKER_00: Um, and then we made Car Fox our mascot, and uh recognition of Carfax nationally exploded.
- 3:06SPEAKER_00: People everywhere knew us and knew us from the Fox.
- 3:09SPEAKER_00: But I think it's that concept of show me the Carfax um that really got into dealers' heads and then got into consumers' heads after that.
- 3:17Don Armstrong: So, what what is it about Carfax that really changed the way that used cars are sold?
- 3:23Don Armstrong: Because it's not just the fact that every not every car has a Carfax with it, and um, and there are those that have a Carfax with it, and you're going, well, wait a minute, that car's been wrecked.
- 3:37Don Armstrong: So you and those that haven't been wrecked, so those that are that are in perfect shape.
- 3:42Don Armstrong: So, how does all of that play into the way that many people, I won't say most, but uh many people buy cars these days?
- 3:51Don Armstrong: I know I do.
- 3:53SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so I would say one of the things is for us, you know, um VINs became standard in the US in 1981.
- 4:01SPEAKER_00: And so for almost every VIN since then, um, and mostly for mainstream vehicles, but we still for exotics, um, we have a Carfax report for that.
- 4:12SPEAKER_00: And what's changed over the years is from 84 till around 2014, we focused almost exclusively on vehicle history and looking at when cars got serviced, when cars got re-registered, when cars went through a safety inspection.
- 4:26SPEAKER_00: Um, but we've added different things over the years, like around 2018, we added our history-based values.
- 4:32SPEAKER_00: So instead of just caring what the year make model and mileage of your car was, we cared about those service visits and we cared about um the accidents you and damage your car may have received.
- 4:43SPEAKER_00: And now, you know, we do sort of a past present and future on the Car Fax Report.
- 4:48SPEAKER_00: The past, we have all the work that's been done in the car, the present, that history-based value in the future.
- 4:53SPEAKER_00: We now have reliability predictions for most vehicles anywhere from three years old to just past 10 years old.
- 5:00SPEAKER_00: And we can tell you what we estimate is the likelihood that you're gonna need a major repair on that particular vehicle, that specific VIN, uh over the next three years.
- 5:09Jeff Dziekan: So the information on a person's car is only uh communicated to Carfax if that particular facility reports it, or does it go off the VIN number automatically?
- 5:22Jeff Dziekan: And the second part is if you does Carfax notice gaps in the history.
- 5:28Jeff Dziekan: Maybe you had a fender bender that uh the guy down the street fixed it for you and it's not reported, but it looks like it's had an accident.
- 5:35Jeff Dziekan: So, do you see those things as well?
- 5:38SPEAKER_00: Uh, so let me think of the first one first.
- 5:40Jeff Dziekan: Sure.
- 5:40SPEAKER_00: So, yeah, not everything is reported to us.
- 5:42SPEAKER_00: There are uh plenty of guys, I imagine, uh, a fair number of your viewers who are doing their own oil change or doing what have you.
- 5:50SPEAKER_00: So, if and what's great is if they do that, they can report in the car care, the CarVax car care app, which is free.
- 5:57SPEAKER_00: You can't buy anything in it, but you can note, hey, I did an oil change, and here are my receipts for the oil that I bought.
- 6:04SPEAKER_00: It won't be on the vehicle history report, but it'll be in the app that you can show a potential buyer.
- 6:09SPEAKER_00: Um, but we are, you know, we are limited to what is reported to us.
- 6:13SPEAKER_00: But I can tell you, we are approaching a hundred thousand different service shops and dealerships who are reporting things to us, in addition to you know, uh registration and safety inspection and emissions inspections.
- 6:26SPEAKER_00: So we've got a pretty good view on virtually every vehicle on the road in the U.S.
- 6:31SPEAKER_00: today.
- 6:32Don Armstrong: Okay, and that that was gonna be my next question.
- 6:34Don Armstrong: So, what about Joe's repair shop in uh Sandusky, Ohio?
- 6:40Don Armstrong: Oh, I've been there.
- 6:42Don Armstrong: You have?
- 6:43Don Armstrong: I bet you have.
- 6:44Don Armstrong: That was for something completely different.
- 6:46Don Armstrong: I I think it turned into some sort of never mind.
- 6:49Don Armstrong: I think it was the doctor's office, actually.
- 6:50Don Armstrong: The doctor's office.
- 6:52Don Armstrong: So, you know, I mean, this is basically a one-man shop.
- 6:55Don Armstrong: Yeah, he does oil changes, he does light repairs, he doesn't do engine overhauls and that sort of stuff.
- 7:01Don Armstrong: Um, what happens if that's the guy that you trust with your car?
- 7:05Don Armstrong: And there are a lot of guys out there like that.
- 7:08Don Armstrong: And so can he report to Carfax?
- 7:12SPEAKER_00: Absolutely, he can.
- 7:13SPEAKER_00: And as your as a customer who goes to him for that work, you can ask him to report it to Carfax, and we will eagerly take that information into our system.
- 7:23SPEAKER_00: What we tell a lot of repair shops and service places is we're helping you and helping your customer because the more that consumers know about the work that was done on that vehicle, honestly, the more that vehicle is worth when it comes time to sell it.
- 7:38SPEAKER_00: So um, I think our the average we found uh over time for cars that have service records versus those that don't is something in the neighborhood of$1,500 when it comes when it comes time to resell it.
- 7:50SPEAKER_00: So, unless you are keep buying a vehicle and driving it into the ground and you plan to sell it after three, five, seven years, it's crucial that you keep track of that.
- 8:00SPEAKER_00: Uh and having your mechanic report to Carfax is an easy way to make sure that it's locked.
- 8:06Don Armstrong: Does it cost Joes in Sandusky, Ohio, money to report this to you?
- 8:11Don Armstrong: It does not, it costs him nothing.
- 8:13Don Armstrong: So, how do you qualify him or quantify him, however you want to put it, to make the report on the car that he just serviced?
- 8:21SPEAKER_00: Well, but now you've gotten into a realm that's probably a little bit over my head and out of my wheel.
- 8:26SPEAKER_00: Didn't mean to do that.
- 8:28Don Armstrong: That was okay.
- 8:30Don Armstrong: So uh so he can report, you know, that he changed a water pump on the car, yeah, and that he changed the oil in it and did a general inspection, you know, and he did a right front brake, and he replaced the pads in that, and that sort of thing.
- 8:44Don Armstrong: Yes, gotcha.
- 8:46Don Armstrong: All right, and does it cost him anything to do that?
- 8:49SPEAKER_00: It shouldn't, no.
- 8:50Don Armstrong: Okay, yeah, all right.
- 8:52Mike Marrs: I will tell you, I will tell you that my one of my granddaughters just bought her first car, went through that whole process.
- 8:58Mike Marrs: Okay, here's how you go down and set up the financing.
- 9:01Mike Marrs: And and one of the things when she did find the car she wanted, uh I I told her, ask him for the car fax, asking if he's got one.
- 9:10Mike Marrs: So she got that, and it it showed a one-owner car, bought from that dealership, traded back in, had all the records on it.
- 9:17Mike Marrs: A little high on the mileage, but like I told her, I said, here's where it shows how well that car was taken care of.
- 9:23Mike Marrs: Yeah, you know, and and and that was that was very important.
- 9:27Mike Marrs: And and uh I was really glad that she had that and made her made her feel a little bit better about buying the car.
- 9:32Don Armstrong: Well, these certified used cars, Patrick, uh do they differ from uh a regular used car dealership?
- 9:41SPEAKER_00: Well, so that really uh a certified pre-armed car CPO, as we call them, that's really up to automakers, right?
- 9:47SPEAKER_00: So Toyota and Lexus and GM and whoever they set up their own rules as to what those are.
- 9:54SPEAKER_00: But uh talking about the car that your daughter bought, uh, we just recently introduced a new approach um to help consumers identify cars just like that, which is a car that's bought at the dealership, gets serviced out of that dealership, that dealer buys it back and then puts it for sale.
- 10:11SPEAKER_00: We call that a homegrown car.
- 10:13SPEAKER_00: And we have found when dealers call that out to shoppers that those cars sell faster and they sell for more money.
- 10:20SPEAKER_00: So consumers, and like your daughter did, there's you it's nice to know that this guy sold it originally, this guy took care of it, he's very familiar with this vehicle, and now he's selling it.
- 10:32SPEAKER_00: Um, and it it in consumers' eyes makes those cars seem a little bit more legit.
- 10:37SPEAKER_00: CPO is another way to think about cars being better handled, better inspected, um a little bit better taken care of.
- 10:45Mike Marrs: Yeah, exactly.
- 10:46SPEAKER_00: It may be a little more expensive, but there's some peace of mind because almost always a CPO car comes with some level of extended warranty, which is yeah.
- 10:55Jeff Dziekan: There's also variations of what a CPO is because a dealership will, you know, 127-point inspection, you know, a you know, check make sure all the bolts are tight.
- 11:04Jeff Dziekan: And then you've got the guy in the corner with six or seven cars that says we check 14 pieces of the vehicle to make sure because they're all they're doing is protecting themselves on the service, especially the used car side of it.
- 11:16Jeff Dziekan: So CPO varies for different uh organizations.
- 11:19SPEAKER_00: Yes, and it's important, I think, to really look at the the definitions and descriptions of what CPO is to make sure you're getting that value out of it.
- 11:30SPEAKER_00: Yes, sir.
- 11:30Mike Marrs: Yep, yeah.
- 11:32SPEAKER_00: Okay, go ahead, Mike.
- 11:33Mike Marrs: That was a great statement you made about the the dealership using that.
- 11:37Mike Marrs: They didn't.
- 11:37Mike Marrs: This dealership, I mean it's a new car dealership, but uh they didn't.
- 11:41Mike Marrs: She had to ask for it.
- 11:43Mike Marrs: Yeah, and and if he would have said, yes, here, let me show you this.
- 11:46Mike Marrs: I mean, she's 21 years old, let me show you this on your first car.
- 11:50Mike Marrs: Here's some of the good things.
- 11:51Mike Marrs: To me, that would have been a very that would have pushed her a little bit quicker into making that decision.
- 11:56Jeff Dziekan: Exactly.
- 11:56Jeff Dziekan: Yeah, a little place of sale.
- 11:58Mike Marrs: Yes.
- 11:59SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's a relatively relatively new idea that we're pushing.
- 12:04SPEAKER_00: I mean, honestly, we launched this back, I think, at the NADA show in February.
- 12:08SPEAKER_00: And so I think for a lot of dealerships, they haven't really considered it.
- 12:11SPEAKER_00: But we've done some case studies, and we definitely see a very positive response from consumers around cars where they feel like, hey, they know this car, and they're not selling me something they bought hot off the street yesterday.
- 12:25SPEAKER_00: It's been here and it's been back here, and you know, they know what's working, they know what's not.
- 12:30SPEAKER_00: Yeah, they're proud of it.
- 12:31SPEAKER_00: They want to show it off.
- 12:32SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 12:33Don Armstrong: Patrick, how much how if I'm in the market for a used car and um I I found one that I'm kind of honed in on, um, how much does it cost me to run a Carfax on that?
- 12:45SPEAKER_00: So if you want to buy a Carfax report, um, which is great, we encourage it.
- 12:50SPEAKER_00: It's$45 currently.
- 12:53SPEAKER_00: Um, but I would really push the seller, uh, whether it's private party or dealership, hey, you know, give me the Carfax because there's a level of transparency there and trust that that seller should be saying, should be eager to give you the Carfax.
- 13:09SPEAKER_00: The 50 bucks or whatever or less if it's a dealer that it costs them to persuade you or convince you of the value of the car that you're trying to buy, that should be a a positive to the dealer or to the private party seller.
- 13:23SPEAKER_00: If if particularly private party doesn't want to give you the Carfax, I would A, make sure I buy one, and B, go through it very carefully.
- 13:30Don Armstrong: Yeah, wonder what I'm sorry.
- 13:33Don Armstrong: When I when I when I get ready to sell the 2001 Corvette, yeah, it's never been wrecked, it's had several owners, but it's been garage kept.
- 13:40Don Armstrong: This thing's baby, and yeah, you know, it's it's it's it's a nice car.
- 13:45Don Armstrong: Um when I get ready to sell it, so it would be it behoove me to buy the Carfax on uh and and say, hey, look, you want here's the Carfax.
- 13:55SPEAKER_00: Yep, absolutely.
- 13:56SPEAKER_00: Because I think that just shows to the buyer.
- 13:59SPEAKER_00: I'm not hiding anything, right?
- 14:00SPEAKER_00: I'm not trying to obfuscate, I'm not trying to distract you.
- 14:04SPEAKER_00: Boom.
- 14:05SPEAKER_00: Here's here's the details.
- 14:06Jeff Dziekan: So, Patrick, I've worked on his car.
- 14:08Jeff Dziekan: Should I report it to Carfax?
- 14:10Jeff Dziekan: No, he doesn't want to be valued.
- 14:12Don Armstrong: No, that then the value would go down.
- 14:14Don Armstrong: We don't want that.
- 14:16SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you know, we do have dealer and server shop ratings.
- 14:20SPEAKER_00: I I don't know if you personally have any, but he does.
- 14:23Mike Marrs: You just can't pay him on dealerships.
- 14:26SPEAKER_00: You do we do we get user reviews from people who we know are at the dealership.
- 14:31SPEAKER_00: So this isn't Bob owns a server shop and goes back on his computer and writes up 16 positive reviews on himself.
- 14:37SPEAKER_00: We're only pinging people we know got service there, and we're asking them what they think.
- 14:42SPEAKER_00: Um, and those are what what populates our dealership and service shop user reviews.
- 14:48Don Armstrong: So we it would behoove me if I bought a new car to join Carfax and be able to report all of that stuff, and then you would know that I'm a legit guy with this particular car.
- 15:01SPEAKER_00: Absolutely.
- 15:01SPEAKER_00: The the beauty of getting the Carfax Car Care app, which is where you would uh register your van, again, cost you nothing.
- 15:08SPEAKER_00: But we would tell you, for example, like if you had a brand new recall, there was one this week for a half a million Kia tellurides with a park outside recall, meaning they want you to park it away from buildings.
- 15:20SPEAKER_00: But we would tell you that instantly.
- 15:22SPEAKER_00: And whether it's for a brand new uh telluride, whether it's for a 2010 Ford Escape or something, that's the beauty of the app, is it is constantly keeping you up to date, not only in the services that you need, um in your favorite dealerships and service shops, but also when new information comes in, like, hey, there's a recall for this, you got to get it fixed.
- 15:43Don Armstrong: So, where is the Carfax Tower in America that holds 10,000 people putting all this information in?
- 15:50SPEAKER_00: Uh well, it's it's more like 1,500 people, um, and we are all over the country.
- 15:54SPEAKER_00: Our headquarters are in Centerville, Virginia.
- 15:57SPEAKER_00: We have an office in London, Ontario.
- 16:00SPEAKER_00: We have an office in Columbia, Missouri, and Columbia, Missouri was the original home of Carfax.
- 16:05SPEAKER_00: Um, but we have got people all over the country.
- 16:07SPEAKER_00: For example, I'm talking to you today out of my house in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
- 16:11SPEAKER_00: So we are all over the place.
- 16:13Jeff Dziekan: Well, when they open up a Maui office, we're in.
- 16:17Jeff Dziekan: Maui will be that when we have to do it.
- 16:19SPEAKER_00: I will I might have to scope it out first just to make sure it's okay for you.
- 16:22SPEAKER_00: Right, right.
- 16:23SPEAKER_00: Go and you stop, get everything running.
- 16:25Don Armstrong: And you're also taking the in-wheel time car talk show with you to help promote the fact that you're opening up a Maui office.
- 16:32SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
- 16:33SPEAKER_00: I mean, it really wouldn't be the same without y'all.
- 16:35Don Armstrong: That's right.
- 16:36Don Armstrong: There you go.
- 16:38Don Armstrong: Hear that, Virginia?
- 16:39Don Armstrong: Yeah.
- 16:40Don Armstrong: Well, well, Patrick, it's always great to talk to you.
- 16:43Don Armstrong: Is there any uh parting thoughts that you'd like to give us?
- 16:48Don Armstrong: Yeah.
- 16:49SPEAKER_00: The last thing I'll tell you is we added uh back at the beginning of the year something called dependability.
- 16:54SPEAKER_00: And we look at uh a vehicle, let's say like a Chevy Tahoe, at the percentage that have made it to 150,000 miles, percentage that made it to 200,000 miles, and the percentage that are still on the road after 20 years, and we compare those to the same model year and average.
- 17:10SPEAKER_00: And I'm telling you guys, for your viewers, that is going to be an eye opening to see which models make it to 150, how many make it to 200,000.
- 17:18SPEAKER_00: The delta between those two, there's a huge drop-off, and then how many are still on the road today.
- 17:24SPEAKER_00: If you are looking for a used car, there's some great details there in our research pages.
- 17:28Don Armstrong: Does it cost us anything?
- 17:30Don Armstrong: Does it cost us anything to get that?
- 17:32SPEAKER_00: Cost you zero.
- 17:33SPEAKER_00: Go to Carfax.com slash research and have at it.
- 17:36Jeff Dziekan: And that's just if there's no gaps in that information, too.
- 17:39SPEAKER_00: So well, we've got we've got literally more than 35 billion records that we use.
- 17:44SPEAKER_00: We have no gaps in that information.
- 17:46SPEAKER_00: Gotcha.
- 17:46Don Armstrong: Patrick, it's great to talk to you.
- 17:48Don Armstrong: Stay cool up there now here.
- 17:49SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 17:50SPEAKER_00: All right, trying.
- 17:51SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 17:51Don Armstrong: All right, all right, brother.
- 17:52Don Armstrong: We'll talk to you again, hopefully toward the end of the year.
- 17:55Don Armstrong: All right, man.
- 17:55Don Armstrong: Sounds good.
- 17:56Don Armstrong: See you in Maui.
- 17:57Don Armstrong: Yeah, take care.
- 17:58Don Armstrong: All right.
- 17:59Don Armstrong: Yeah, see you in Maui.
- 18:01Don Armstrong: Yeah.
- 18:02Don Armstrong: You know, I don't, I don't, I wouldn't want to go to Maui right now.
- 18:06Don Armstrong: I mean, the weather's there, it's always the same.
- 18:09Don Armstrong: I want to go, you know, the weather's really.
- 18:11Jeff Dziekan: You know, you're on an island, you got all the other other islands around.
- 18:14Jeff Dziekan: It's very expensive, but just ahead.

- 20:39Don Armstrong: Okay, ready to go.
- 20:41Jeff Dziekan: Well, the motor minute, it's just I've got some interesting car facts, not no see car facts from uh Patrick.
- 20:46Jeff Dziekan: Yeah, this is just information that you may not know.
- 20:49Jeff Dziekan: But uh, the most expensive country uh to buy a new car would be in Singapore.
- 20:56Jeff Dziekan: Uh you have to have a certif a certificate of entitlement or a COE that provides.
- 21:01Don Armstrong: I know some have several ex-wives like that.
- 21:04Don Armstrong: Certificates of entitlement.
- 21:05Jeff Dziekan: No, those that's alimony.
- 21:07Jeff Dziekan: Um the policy aims to reduce congestion and limiting the number of cars on the road.
- 21:12Jeff Dziekan: So you're only selected, you have to show the means and you can not clog up the roads.
- 21:17Jeff Dziekan: Um it's about 7,807 people per square kilometer.
- 21:24Jeff Dziekan: That's how many people they have.
- 21:26Jeff Dziekan: How many square miles is that?
- 21:28Jeff Dziekan: It's 247 uh square.
- 21:31Jeff Dziekan: So if you got a calculator, you can figure it out.
- 21:34Jeff Dziekan: You're gonna use a calculator in all of this.
- 21:36Jeff Dziekan: So the longest car in the world was built by a person that is a car guru in California called Jay Olberg.
- 21:42Jeff Dziekan: Uh the biggest book of world records has the longest car ever at 100 meters, which is 328 feet for those listening.
- 21:48Jeff Dziekan: Uh, car was built with a swimming pool, a diamond board, king size waterbed, and a helipad.
- 21:54Jeff Dziekan: How about that?
- 21:55Jeff Dziekan: The cheapest car in the world is a Tata Nano.
- 21:58Jeff Dziekan: Tata Mano.
- 22:00Mike Marrs: It's that Tata.
- 22:02Jeff Dziekan: The car is the world's cheapest car.
- 22:04Jeff Dziekan: It's a rear-wheel drive car that's at speeds of 105 kilometers.
- 22:09Jeff Dziekan: Again, that's 65.24 miles per hour.
- 22:11Jeff Dziekan: Uh, when it was first introduced, the car was only 1400 bucks.
- 22:15Jeff Dziekan: Now it's around between 32 and 4600.
- 22:17Jeff Dziekan: I guess the materials of the Tata have gone up.
- 22:20Don Armstrong: Hey.
- 22:21Jeff Dziekan: World's fastest police car.
- 22:24Jeff Dziekan: There you go.
- 22:24Jeff Dziekan: Uh Dagmar's.
- 22:26Jeff Dziekan: The world's fastest police car, according to the Guinness Book of World Records, is in Dubai.
- 22:32Jeff Dziekan: The Dubai Police Department has a Bugatti Veyron, a thousand horsepower.
- 22:36Don Armstrong: Uh wasn't they confiscated from some drug dealer.
- 22:39Jeff Dziekan: Probably, I don't know about drug dealers in in Dubai, but uh confiscated some oil.
- 22:44Jeff Dziekan: Uh 253 miles per hour, which again that's 407 kilometers.
- 22:49Don Armstrong: Why are we doing the kilometers and the means?
- 22:51Jeff Dziekan: Because I just want to mess with your category.
- 22:53Jeff Dziekan: Well, you've done that.
- 22:54Don Armstrong: There's no doubt.
- 22:55Jeff Dziekan: Automotive recycling, 80% of the average vehicle is recyclable.
- 22:58Jeff Dziekan: 12 million vehicles are recycled every year.
- 23:01Jeff Dziekan: Unbelievably, automotive recycling is the 16th largest industry in the United States.
- 23:07Jeff Dziekan: So, how about that?
- 23:08Jeff Dziekan: Just some interesting car information facts on that.
- 23:11Jeff Dziekan: That is interesting.
- 23:13Don Armstrong: Yeah, some of them burn up right here in the city of Houston.
- 23:16Don Armstrong: Park them outside with some tires over the fence.
- 23:18Don Armstrong: Park them outside.
- 23:20Don Armstrong: Time now for this hour's car review.
- 23:22Don Armstrong: I had the opportunity to drive the 2025 Land Rover Range Rover.
- 23:27Don Armstrong: It is built in Sully Hill, United Kingdom.
- 23:31Don Armstrong: Just thought you'd like to know that where it's built.
- 23:35Don Armstrong: Available trim levels, dynamic, and the autobiography.
- 23:40Don Armstrong: I had the Sport Dynamic S E P H E V.
- 23:45Don Armstrong: That is a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle.
- 23:48Don Armstrong: Mid-size SUV.
- 23:50Don Armstrong: Now you'd think that this would be full size.
- 23:51Don Armstrong: Nope, mid-size.
- 23:53Don Armstrong: Five seats in it.
- 23:55Don Armstrong: That would include the driver, clearly.
- 23:57Don Armstrong: It was all new in 2023.
- 24:00Don Armstrong: We're just now getting this in the press fleet, but I'll tell you what.
- 24:03Don Armstrong: Oh my god.
- 24:04Don Armstrong: It's a good looking, good looking vehicle.
- 24:06Don Armstrong: Ooh, it is absolutely beautiful.
- 24:09Don Armstrong: Exterior features, smooth arrow body lines, modern yet conservative.
- 24:16Don Armstrong: All horizontal and slick design throughout.
- 24:20Don Armstrong: Front and rear lighting is no frills, but is extra sleek.
- 24:25Don Armstrong: As a matter of fact, the rear tail lights are kind of like built in to the it looks like the body work on this.
- 24:31Don Armstrong: Like shaved in.
- 24:35Jeff Dziekan: No.
- 24:35Don Armstrong: I wouldn't know anything about that.
- 24:37Don Armstrong: No, I'm the resistance.
- 24:38Don Armstrong: I know I think I know what you're talking about.
- 24:40Don Armstrong: It's not the same thing.
- 24:41Don Armstrong: Okay.
- 24:42Don Armstrong: Big wheels are really straightforward and good looking.
- 24:48Don Armstrong: There's nothing fancy about anything.
- 24:51Don Armstrong: It draws your attention.
- 24:52Don Armstrong: The whole thing is just slick.
- 24:54Don Armstrong: How else do you say it?
- 24:55Don Armstrong: It's a good looking car.
- 24:56Don Armstrong: Overall design gets high marks.
- 24:58Don Armstrong: What could use improvement?
- 25:00Don Armstrong: Don't get gray.
- 25:02Don Armstrong: Gray is boring.
- 25:03Don Armstrong: Why would you get a gray car?
- 25:04Don Armstrong: It's almost as if you here.
- 25:06Don Armstrong: Let's go ahead and get the car sprayed as a primer.
- 25:12Don Armstrong: Let's do the gray primer.
- 25:14Don Armstrong: They don't use red primer anymore.
- 25:16Don Armstrong: I don't know why, but anyway, I just don't understand gray cars, but whatever.
- 25:20Don Armstrong: Interior highlights.
- 25:28Don Armstrong: No frills looking.
- 25:29Don Armstrong: Interior is ultra conservative in its design.
- 25:33Don Armstrong: Materials top-notch with comfortable seating surfaces.
- 25:37Don Armstrong: The infotainment screen is tablet style, kind of small actually, in comparison to some of the ones that we see today.
- 25:45Don Armstrong: Simple conservative controls for the HVAC.
- 25:49Don Armstrong: And uh, as far as cargo and trunk room is concerned, it is smallish with the second row up.
- 25:55Don Armstrong: Again, this is a mid-size.
- 25:56Don Armstrong: Look how slick this is.
- 25:57Jeff Dziekan: Yeah, it is looks nice.
- 25:58Don Armstrong: Yeah, now this is a brand new car.
- 26:00Don Armstrong: You'd think, well, wait a minute.
- 26:01Don Armstrong: That's kind of like the old stripper models of the Nova back in the 1970s.
- 26:06Don Armstrong: No, this isn't.
- 26:07Don Armstrong: Hardly anything.
- 26:08Don Armstrong: Can't even compare it.
- 26:10Don Armstrong: What I liked about it, the simplicity of the look.
- 26:13Don Armstrong: What could use improvement?
- 26:14Don Armstrong: Some of the screens of the infotainment screen are a little complicated to maneuver through.
- 26:19Don Armstrong: I think that I would go back to school on that one.
- 26:22Don Armstrong: But like anything else, you buy a new car, you get used to it, and then it's no big deal.
- 26:28Don Armstrong: All right.
- 26:28Don Armstrong: So what's it got under the hood?
- 26:30Don Armstrong: A three-liter inline six-cylinder that turns up 454 horsepower and 487 pound feet of torque.
- 26:40Don Armstrong: This isn't the big V8.
- 26:42Don Armstrong: This is the three-liter inline six.
- 26:45Don Armstrong: Toes up to 6,600 pounds.
- 26:48Don Armstrong: And if you want to just get on the gas only, it gets 21 miles per gallon.
- 26:54Don Armstrong: Not bad considering you get this all this horsepower and the lexi.
- 26:58Don Armstrong: Yeah, I know.
- 26:58Don Armstrong: Isn't it beautiful?
- 27:00Don Armstrong: To see it in person is just truly stunning.
- 27:02Don Armstrong: I got 28.3 miles per gallon over 381.8 miles.
- 27:08Don Armstrong: What I liked about it, the power.
- 27:10Don Armstrong: Plenty, it's always there.
- 27:11Don Armstrong: What could use improvement?
- 27:13Don Armstrong: Absolutely nothing.
- 27:14Don Armstrong: Uh, maybe a full electric would be interesting to drive.
- 27:18Don Armstrong: Now, I did not get the 110-volt charge cord with this vehicle.
- 27:24Don Armstrong: For some reason, they didn't include it.
- 27:26Don Armstrong: I don't know.
- 27:26Don Armstrong: It would have been nice because I can plug it in here at the house, and then at work, they have a 110-volt outlet there.
- 27:33Don Armstrong: And so I could have probably got a lot better gas mileage if I plugged it in all over the place, but I did not.
- 27:38Don Armstrong: So I want to be sure and transparent in that regard.
- 27:43Don Armstrong: What I liked about it, the air suspension, one of the best.
- 27:46Don Armstrong: Plenty of control, but my God, the ride is just to die for.
- 27:51Don Armstrong: Um, what could use improvement there?
- 27:53Don Armstrong: Nothing.
- 27:54Don Armstrong: Base trim price,$95,100.
- 27:58Don Armstrong: I was sitting here thinking, how pretty is that car?
- 28:01Don Armstrong: Price has tested$96,725.
- 28:05Don Armstrong: Base model price$79,450.
- 28:08Don Armstrong: Uh, let me just say this before I get into the competitors.
- 28:12Don Armstrong: This is was actually shocking to me.
- 28:16Don Armstrong: Um, because I have driven vehicles in the$130,000 category, this beats them.
- 28:23Don Armstrong: Wow.
- 28:23Don Armstrong: This is probably one of the nicest vehicles on the market today.
- 28:28Don Armstrong: As far as reliability concerns, I don't have them.
- 28:31Don Armstrong: I don't know anything about that.
- 28:33Don Armstrong: Uh, I might want to check into that if you're interested in this, but I'll tell you what, if you're interested in a super luxury, beautiful vehicle that has lots of horsepower and you want to impress the neighbors, I think I'd check this one out.
- 28:46Don Armstrong: Okay, here are the competitors: the Lexus TX PHEV for 80,000, the BMW X5 PHEV for 76,000, and the Mercedes GLE PHEV for 72,250.
- 28:59Don Armstrong: Next week we review the VW Tigwan SUV, which is a complete redesign.
- 29:04Don Armstrong: I think you'll be interested to hear what I have to say about that.
- 29:07Don Armstrong: So you don't like great cars, do you?
- 29:09unknown: Boy, I'll tell you what, man.
- 29:11Don Armstrong: If if if I were a rich man, which I am not, uh, I would seriously consider buying something like that.
- 29:17Don Armstrong: The wife would love it.
- 29:18Don Armstrong: I don't have a wife, but you gotta buy the wife, then you get the car.
- 29:22Mike Marrs: I think that color's got a lot to do with it.
- 29:23Mike Marrs: That brilliant red.
- 29:25Don Armstrong: Golly, it is it's stunning, is what it is.
