- 0:59You never can think of the name of the People's Court judge. It's Judge
- 1:02Million. Who is Mabeling? She just has her own court room. Yeah,
- 1:04it's Mabeling. She's getting it done. Maybe it's maybe, Maybe it's
- 1:07maybe have you not done? I think I have? Maybe Maybe it is
- 1:12court. Maybe it is guilty. Maybe it's babe and and and and and
- 1:26you ready, I'm ready, let's dive on in. Let me introduce you
- 1:29to Rachel Clint. Rachel Clint is suing Riverfront Prep Middle School for thirty six
- 1:37hundred dollars in tuition payments because she believes her son was expelled and shouldn't have
- 1:42been. Riverfront Prep has sent uh a a person to represent them. We
- 1:49know that he is an administrator at the school. They never say principal,
- 1:53uh, but they have sent a person of color, and I think that
- 1:55that is on purpose. We'll get to that later on. So Rachel Clint
- 2:00says, my son, James, was a student at Riverfront Prep Middle School,
- 2:04and she says this sentence, and I want you to track with me.
- 2:07He then came scared to be at that school because he was expelled unfalsely.
- 2:19He then we'll try it again. He then came scared to be at
- 2:23that school because he was expelled unfalsely. Now, a few things there we
- 2:28got to unpack. I legit, don't. I can't follow that sometime.
- 2:32All right, First of all, once you're expelled, you can't go to
- 2:35the school. Yeah, right, So timeline, why it doesn't matter if
- 2:38you're scared and then expelled? Unfalsely is not a word, but if it
- 2:43was, it would mean truthfully. She says expelled unfalsely, which her son
- 2:51was scared to go to the school that he was expelled from unfalsely. That's
- 2:55correct, that is what she says. What she means is is is that
- 3:01he became scared over the last three months and then was expelled falsely. That's
- 3:07what she means to say. She does not say it. I've never heard
- 3:09unfalsely before, but it was a treat to hear. I laughed aloud as
- 3:14I heard it, and basically she said he was defending himself against another child
- 3:17who attends the school. I work hard, my husband works hard. We
- 3:21sacrificed a lot of time of money so that he could go to the school.
- 3:24He was in public school. The curriculum was bad, teachers weren't motivating,
- 3:29so we put him in private school. But it was a bad experience,
- 3:31and my husband and I want our money back because we believe he was
- 3:34treated unfairly. He was bullied, he was provoked. I have proof of
- 3:38the things that were said to him on social media. I got pictures of
- 3:40things, and we never see any of that evidence that she has. Unfortunately,
- 3:45now James is in the courtroom and Mabeling says James, just get on
- 3:47up here, son, And she says, you're thirteen years old. You're
- 3:51in the eighth grade, yes, ma'am, So tell me what happened?
- 3:53He said, Ever since the first day of school, I've been bothered by
- 3:58a kid named Brock. Well, I mean his name is Brock. That's
- 4:00right. Now. What has he been doing? Well? He talks about
- 4:04my family. He says that we're less than they are. He made fun
- 4:06of my dad because my and called my dad a garbage man, and his
- 4:14sad. He says, I look up to my dad. He's in sanitation.
- 4:17I want to wait. I don't think there's anything wrong. And uh,
- 4:21and she said, he said, And one time I was in the
- 4:25shower after pe and Brock threw all my clothes in the trash can. Uh
- 4:30and told me that, uh, that I could be like my dad and
- 4:33get them out of the trash can. One good joke, But two,
- 4:38is there anything racial about this? Brock? Is I gotta be white?
- 4:43Right? James is African America. We don't know anything else, but basically,
- 4:49uh, it's not good, like you know, and Mabelene is you
- 4:53know, like I can't believe that they're doing that's classic bullying. It's not
- 4:56okay. And then finally she said, from the first he's for the first
- 5:00day of school, he's been saying this stuff. Well, it came after
- 5:03school. Brock came up to me, thumped me twice in the forehead,
- 5:09and I punched him. What's a thump? Just like a he does.
- 5:12He just says, thump. We're gonna get more information from another witness in
- 5:14a little bit. We got a thump witness. Yeah, yeah, so
- 5:16were they. Yes, he got knocked down, but he got up again
- 5:20again. Sorry, he said, uh okay, She said, okay,
- 5:25so before let's back up, before this happened, tell me some things that
- 5:29like he was doing. She he just kind of runs through the standard,
- 5:31like he threw me to trash can. At lunch, all his friends were
- 5:34laughing at me. He made fun of me. He said, you go
- 5:36to the authority, said, I went to two different teachers and my parents.
- 5:39Nobody didn't. Things not funny. I just can't believe that kids are
- 5:42still getting put into Yeah, I don't know where you stand on bullying.
- 5:46After saying that that was a good joke earlier obviously awful, but I mean,
- 5:51his dad is insane. I mean, that's bad. I don't know
- 5:55where I mean, like, I don't know how you sleep at night.
- 5:58Yeah, you want to apologize or I want to apologize for saying it out
- 6:03loud? Oh boy? Okay, so how do we get to the hitting?
- 6:08Basically this all added up to the hitting. He said, he came
- 6:10up to me. After he said he just came up to you. He
- 6:12said, yes, he just came up to me. So she goes,
- 6:15Okay, did the principal ever meet with everybody? Rachel said no, the
- 6:17principal didn't meet with any of us. He put the boys in a conflict
- 6:21resolution class. They had to be in a class together on conflict resolution.
- 6:26She said, I don't know why my kid had to be in that class.
- 6:29The other kid was the one that started the conflict. My kids shouldn't
- 6:30have been in there. But that was for three months, and every day
- 6:32he came home scared for three months, and then things got worried going to
- 6:36a conflict resolution class, and then things got worse, and basically they expelled
- 6:44after those three months. Expelled. James did not expel Brock, only expelled
- 6:49James. And she said, at that point, I found out that Brock's
- 6:53parents are huge contributors to the school. So yeah, as for I'm a
- 7:00private school administrator, I wanted to reach through the screen and and do to
- 7:04deliver my own form of justice. This sounds So the guy in the courtroom
- 7:09representing the prep school is uh Richard person. So they're suing the school.
- 7:15They're suing the school. Yes, Richard Poursaud is there, and he says
- 7:18our school is a long tradition of the success. She did complain Richard's affiliation.
- 7:25He's a representative of the schoolble but he clearly had something to do with
- 7:30the discipline. I don't know if he was, but I believe that it's
- 7:32racially motivated. And he's been put in the courtroom because he is a person
- 7:35of color. That's why he's been put in the court. So he says,
- 7:40our school has got a long tradition of success. She did. There
- 7:42were complaints about Brock. There were complaints also about James. We want the
- 7:46kids to help themselves figure this out. That's why we put him in the
- 7:48conflict resolution class. But to be honest with you, James had other issues.
- 7:55Excuse me, he was skipping class, talking back to teachers, and
- 8:00you know this was not our first running with James, and so Mabeline asks
- 8:05a question that I'm asking. He goes, She goes, great, give
- 8:07me all the documentation. Give me the write ups of James, because that's
- 8:11what I would do. Give me the write ups James. You know,
- 8:13skipping class, talking back to teachers. There's got to be documentation, disciplinary
- 8:18documentation of this. He doesn't have any. He has no documentation of this
- 8:22kid doing anything wrong at all before punching this kid for doesn't have any in
- 8:26the courtroom, doesn't have any period. He doesn't have any period. He
- 8:30says, these things happened directly with the teacher. We deal with things in
- 8:33school face to face, no paper but I and then he says, I'm
- 8:39being kind. James has actually been really rude to the teacher, to teachers
- 8:43in general. And Mabelin goes, why don't you contact the parents. You're
- 8:46telling me this kid's mean, he's rude, he's skipping school, he's doing
- 8:48all these things. You didn't pick up a phone, you didn't talk talk
- 8:52to a parent, you didn't set up a conference, you didn't document anything.
- 8:54And he says, no, we didn't do any of that, and
- 8:56you're awful. That's right, you're awful. Yes, you're allf human being.
- 9:00He said, So why did he get kicked out? He said,
- 9:03because I saw him. I saw him punch Brock. He said, you
- 9:05see Bronk Brock thump him. Don't even get me get out. Brock's missed
- 9:13and he said, no, I only saw the punch. And the mom
- 9:18has a witness that saw the whole thing. Introduced you to Katie lem Katie
- 9:22Lemy is picking up her daughter after school. She sees James and Brocks and
- 9:26Brock goes up to James's face two fingers, pushes him in the forehead and
- 9:31does it twice. Head snaps back twice. I've never heard that move.
- 9:35It's said three stooges, and James punches him, all right. At that
- 9:39point, Katie went home with her daughter. Her daughter said, James gets
- 9:43picked on all the time by brocket school. Happens every day. She's really
- 9:46concerned for him. They're in the same math class. When she heard James
- 9:50was expelled, Brock wasn't, she immediately called and said, no, no,
- 9:52no, I saw what happened. This is absurd. Wise one kid
- 9:56expelled, the other one isn't. Mabeline says, why did you spell James
- 10:00not Brock? Persad says, we have a zero tolerance probably for bullying and
- 10:05aggression. He hit him, closed fists, He's gone. He said,
- 10:09okay, Well, why didn't you expel Brock for poking him? One?
- 10:11I didn't see it too. There's a difference between poking and hitting. Mabeling
- 10:15says, no, assault is assault. Why didn't Brock get expelled? I
- 10:18need an answer? And also, your policy isn't about aggression. It's bullying
- 10:24and aggression. That's right. It's not that it doesn't that doesn't matter.
- 10:26So and she she said, this woman's not even suing you, She is
- 10:31not even like taking you like. She just wants her money back. That's
- 10:35all she wants is the tuition for the time he's not been at school.
- 10:39That's all she wants. Why aren't you giving that? And he says,
- 10:41we have a contract that says an act of aggression will result in expulsion and
- 10:46forfeiture of tuition. They signed the contract, that's what it says. And
- 10:52Mabeling's ready to rule. Contracts are tricky, aren't they tricky? Tricky?
- 10:58They are should have sued for something else, pain and suffering, anything,
- 11:05anything else. Yep. Contract's tricky, tricky, no money. Mabeline says,
- 11:11you know what about your contract? It wasn't equally enforced. Your contract
- 11:16wasn't equally enforced. Because if Brock signed the same contract and he did not
- 11:20get expelled and he didn't get his tuition forfeited, then that contract's null envoid
- 11:24because you're not following it equally. You're gonna give her every don Yeah.
- 11:31I don't know if that is how it works exactly, but great. I'm
- 11:37glad they got the money. I'm glad they got the money. Hey,
- 11:39I want to introduce you to Judge Faith. Say I Judge Faith. Hey,
- 11:43Judge Faith. And in the courtroom of Judge Faith, we have a
- 11:46Deborah Howell. Deborah Howell yep. And Brandon Blackman. Brandon Blackman, Wow,
- 11:52Deborah issuing Brandon. And now I guess the rules of five thousand cap
- 11:58is not the same and every coomf sixteen thousand, nine hundred and seven dollars
- 12:05in Judge Faith and Judge Faith sixteen dollars. Uh, and Brandon is countersuiting
- 12:13for four thousand dollars. Are you ready to go? I'm ready? Deborah
- 12:16bought a school bus for one thousand dollars with plans to flip it and make
- 12:22it a party bus. I hate her already. Uh. She She found
- 12:28Brandon on Craigslist with an ad saying basically he does everything that she needs to
- 12:35get the bus ready to rent out for party times. So you gotta you
- 12:41know the paint and you know tune ups and all that good stuff. Perfect.
- 12:46Fine, So she hires them to strip, paint and prime the bus,
- 12:54and the bus was supposed to work afterwards and be turn turnkey, turnturnkey,
- 12:58turnturn key. You got it. So we start with thirty five hundred
- 13:03dollars as she's suing for for the paint job. Judge Faith asks why is
- 13:07she not happy with the paint job, and she says, multiple times we
- 13:13talked about the color. I mean, come on, it's serious. I
- 13:16wanted Neon green. Did they not like match up at a stop? Okay,
- 13:20I wanted neon green. I said, I did not want grass green?
- 13:28What do I get? Grass green? The inside? I want egg
- 13:33plants. What I got was an Easter purple. She wanted neon green,
- 13:37eggplant combo, good gravy. You get what you get, Judge Faith says,
- 13:43why didn't you buy the paint yourself? And she says he said he'd
- 13:52do it, wasn't. In the contrast, she says, he would do
- 13:58it, he'd get the he'd match the colors up. So for the green,
- 14:03we have text messages back and forth of him with the paint inside of
- 14:09a cup taking a picture of the green. Okay, and she says,
- 14:15it's difficult for me to tell if it's neon green. I'm good with it.
- 14:22It's it wasn't neon green. Now, Judge Faith says, you know
- 14:24paint dries darker. Why didn't you go down and see the paint before you
- 14:30approve it? See it dry. You gotta do a little sample, sweat,
- 14:33do anything. And she said that he promised me it was good.
- 14:39She also says the quality of the paint job was awful. It's already cracking.
- 14:45Judge Faith asks Brandon, did you prime it? And he says no,
- 14:48I did not prime it. She says, why didn't you prime it?
- 14:52And he says it wasn't part of the agreements. Oh boy, if
- 14:56she wanted it prime, she should have put that in the contract, which
- 15:03it does not exclusively say that. It doesn't say priming. It says paint,
- 15:07and it says prepare and paint essentially, but it doesn't say prime.
- 15:11So prepare in his mind, was to scrape off all of the stickers,
- 15:16okay, does not include priming. Okay. So he said, if you
- 15:22want me to prime it, it's gonna cost extra, and she said that's
- 15:26not my problem, which it is very much. So it is your party
- 15:30bus, but that's either here or there. She says, not going to
- 15:31pay for it. I've already paid you, so that's happening. Also,
- 15:39there's a situation with the stickers. You know, he says, I scraped
- 15:41off all the stickers. We see a picture of some paint cracking over what
- 15:46looks like a sticker, and he says, that is not a sticker.
- 15:50That's residue of a sticker that's been on a bus since nineteen ninety six.
- 15:56It's just the residue. And Judge Face says, don't you think that getting
- 16:00the residue off from the sticker is also a part of that? And he
- 16:06says no, no, couldn't be. So then we go inside, boy
- 16:14and the bus was supposed to be soundproofed, oh boy, which she says,
- 16:19we agree that it would go up to the windows, and he says,
- 16:22no, we agreed to three hundred square feet of the bus, which
- 16:26I did in the in the contract, boy. The rest of the lawsuit
- 16:32is for stuff like storage of the bus, which she said she had to
- 16:36pay for longer because she they said it was only gonna be two weeks ended
- 16:38up being months at a time. Thousand dollars for time of her driving back
- 16:42and forth, two thousand dollars for missed opportunities because he said it would be
- 16:45two weeks and she missed out on the Super Bowl and eat and then Valentine's
- 16:49Day and all sorts of stuff because it was taking so long. There having
- 16:52the contract saying it would be done in a certain time, no, and
- 16:55seventy five hundred dollars to redo the strip prime and paints. Gosh. Now
- 17:00Brandon is countersuing, yeah, I'm interested in this because he wanted to.
- 17:06So basically, it's four thousand dollars for money owed. Okay, Okay.
- 17:11There was a situation at the end where he was paying for the stuff up
- 17:15front, sending her bills and all this time, and there was four thousand
- 17:19dollars on something that he paid for and he asked for the money, and
- 17:26she said, no, you have to fix it, do it right.
- 17:29And he's like, I'm just not even gonna deal with this anymore. I'm
- 17:30done, can't do it, okay, And so he wants the money now
- 17:33and that it was time. Sort of nobody gets any money, and it's
- 17:37pretty clear to me one nobody has any actual claim on the contract. Everything
- 17:41she's upset about doesn't violate the contract. He didn't. There wasn't prior approval
- 17:48in the contract for paint color. There wasn't you have to prime it in
- 17:52the paint color. The only thing maybe is getting the stickers off there,
- 17:56but it doesn't say that. It just just prep I'm sorry, no one
- 17:59should any money here. So Judge Fan says, I'm only going to focus
- 18:03on the painting, the soundproofing. Everything else is nonsense. Soundproof, soundproof
- 18:07issue. I'm throwing it out. He said, three hundred square feet said
- 18:11in the contract, he did it for the color issue. I'm throwing that
- 18:15out because you should have tried. He really tried with you. He sent
- 18:18you pictures, went back and forth. You should have tried a little bit
- 18:22more. Come on for the quality. I do have an issue because it's
- 18:27clear that you didn't complete the task to prepare. Part of preparing is making
- 18:33sure that the surface is at least smooth enough to paint on. Okay,
- 18:37you claim that you have four thousand dollars ohe to you? You know,
- 18:44she says, basically, what I think happened was you started, you quoted
- 18:48her something, you sort of doing the work, and you realized it was
- 18:52going to cost more to do, yeah, than it's worth, and so
- 18:59you kind of screwed yourself over there. I'm going to give her one thousand
- 19:03dollars of the six of the sixteen thousand dollars for a sticker removement. He's
- 19:08getting nothing on his He's getting that, of course. So there he seems
- 19:12like a punt from judge face, it does seem like a punt. I
- 19:15don't know. The one thousand seems kind of like it's pulled out of thin
- 19:18air just to give someone something. But whatever, Yeah, they're both.
- 19:22I mean, Brandon reminded me in the way that he was talking. He
- 19:26reminded me of Ryan Baby. Really, yes, what are you doing in
- 19:30my house? Not that right, but it was fun, It was fun.
- 19:34Fun. I feel bad for the guy because it felt like like she
- 19:38she is. She's a Karen, She's a classic Karen. Write a better
- 19:42contract. He He calls her at one point a crazy white lady, which
- 19:45the core room laughs and Judge faces. We're not going to call names,
- 19:49but you know she crazy white ladies. We did Everybody. Gonna be back
- 19:53next week with another bay Side. Then the following week, guess what.
