- 1:39Speaker 1: hell of a show. Big hugs, tiny kisses.
- 1:57Speaker 2: Welcome to another episode of The Locker Room. Welcome to
- 2:01Speaker 2: another episode of The Locker Room. I'm trying to do
- 2:03Speaker 2: no notes. Yeah. No notes.
- 2:04Speaker 3: No notes.
- 2:05Speaker 2: This show is presented by the number one sportsbook in America,
- 2:08Speaker 2: and that is the FanDuel Sportsbook. And just to let
- 2:10Speaker 2: you know, before we get rolling and all of our picks,
- 2:12Speaker 2: all of our bets, everything else, FanDuel always has your

- 2:19Speaker 2: the show. You can go to FanDuel.com slash play with
- 2:21Speaker 2: a plan. There's also a responsible gaming section in the app.
- 2:25Speaker 2: Check those out. Gamble responsibly. Now, last week, the first
- 2:30Speaker 2: couple of weeks, FanDuel has done a college football pick
- 2:33Speaker 2: them where you can for free. pick 10 games against
- 2:37Speaker 2: the spread, and you compete against us three. It's a
- 2:41Speaker 2: good deal for them. It's a great deal because it's free.
- 2:43Speaker 2: You're not wagering any money.
- 2:45Speaker 1: And they're willing to sell us.
- 2:46Speaker 2: Yeah, and you have good odds against us. But if
- 2:50Speaker 2: you are the best, if you are the best in
- 2:52Speaker 2: the pool, say you go 10 out of 10, whoever
- 2:54Speaker 2: the top ones are, you will get to split a
- 2:56Speaker 2: share of $ 500, 000. And this week, 523 people netted over
- 3:01Speaker 2: $ 900 in bonus bets. Those are the best ones. Those
- 3:05Speaker 2: are the best ones at the tip top of everything. Now,
- 3:08Speaker 2: you also pick against me and Taylor. So if you're
- 3:10Speaker 2: somebody last week who went 5 for 10 in your
- 3:13Speaker 2: 10 against the spread picks for free... you should have
- 3:16Speaker 2: already gotten a profit boost token. Taylor and Will went
- 3:18Speaker 2: three for 10. Josh Payne went four for 10. You
- 3:21Speaker 2: beat any one of us, you're going to get a
- 3:22Speaker 2: profit boost token courtesy of FanDuel. Gamble responsibly. Shout out Fandom. Hey,
- 3:29Speaker 2: you just smacked that. Shout out Fandom.
- 3:31Speaker 3: You picked this up. You are talking like someone who's undefeated.
- 3:35Speaker 3: You have the vibes of someone. You have the wardrobe
- 3:37Speaker 3: of someone who's undefeated.
- 3:38Speaker 2: You want to tell us how we're starting the show?
- 3:40Speaker 2: You're just going to give him a layup going into
- 3:42Speaker 2: this right now?
- 3:42Speaker 3: He was going to do it if we did.
- 3:43Speaker 2: He was.
- 3:44Speaker 3: Go ahead.
- 3:45Speaker 2: I mean, we are undefeated.
- 3:46Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 3:46Speaker 2: So let's just call that what it is.
- 3:47Speaker 1: Yes.
- 3:48Speaker 2: Anthony Calandria, Big Ten Offense Player of the Week. I
- 3:50Speaker 2: saw that. Let's call it what it is. We are
- 3:52Speaker 2: a machine right now. One game at a time. We're
- 3:54Speaker 2: focused on North Dakota. One game at a time. One
- 3:56Speaker 2: game at a time. One game at a time. Oregon
- 3:58Speaker 2: should be sweating a little bit come week seven. One
- 4:00Speaker 2: game at a time, we're talking about North Dakota football
- 4:02Speaker 2: this week. And we have Indiana before that, correct?
- 4:04Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 4:05Speaker 2: So we got Indiana before that. And not only that, Maryland.
- 4:08Speaker 2: Don't sleep on Maryland. Also, don't sleep on Michigan State.
- 4:11Speaker 2: Never sleep on Michigan State. But we're focused on North
- 4:12Speaker 2: Dakota this weekend. Good coaching.
- 4:15Speaker 3: But you like this team, don't you?
- 4:17Speaker 2: Josh, I will say I like this team a lot.
- 4:23Speaker 2: It's funny. No, no, no.
- 4:24Speaker 3: Listen, you are....
- 4:27Speaker 2: Funny.
- 4:27Speaker 1: Will Compton is funny.
- 4:29Speaker 2: So what you're saying is serious. I feel like you're
- 4:31Speaker 2: laughing at my Huskers right now. No, no.
- 4:33Speaker 1: What you're saying is authentic, yet Will Compton is a
- 4:37Speaker 1: funny person. So both those things are very, very perfect.
- 4:40Speaker 1: No one's coming at Will.
- 4:42Speaker 2: I do. No one's coming at Will. I like our
- 4:43Speaker 2: last comment.
- 4:44Speaker 1: The comment of winning the offseason, that was a whole
- 4:47Speaker 1: different thing.
- 4:47Speaker 2: In the offseason, the biggest question mark coming in on
- 4:50Speaker 2: this Nebraska football offense was who's going to show up
- 4:53Speaker 2: in the running back room? You lose Emmitt Johnson. Who's
- 4:55Speaker 2: going to show up? Makai Nelson, Jamal Rule, true freshmen,
- 5:00Speaker 2: running through your face. We got them. We are a
- 5:03Speaker 2: running back factory at Nebraska right now. One game at
- 5:06Speaker 2: a time, North Dakota. And also, I wasn't undefeated on
- 5:09Speaker 2: my picks, but I had a very fruitful week last week.
- 5:11Speaker 2: You did. You needed it.
- 5:13Speaker 3: No one needed it more than you.
- 5:14Speaker 2: I got the card right here, but just to go off, Josh,
- 5:16Speaker 2: you had a brutal week over the weekend. Did I
- 5:19Speaker 2: have a brutal week? You had a brutal week. It
- 5:21Speaker 2: didn't feel brutal. You're consistent.
- 5:23Speaker 3: I hit my five unit.
- 5:24Speaker 2: You did hit your five unit. When it comes to
- 5:26Speaker 2: the units, you're fine. When you come to the units,
- 5:29Speaker 2: you're absolutely fine.
- 5:29Speaker 3: Question.
- 5:30Speaker 2: Go ahead.
- 5:31Speaker 3: What else would it come to? I thought you and
- 5:33Speaker 3: me agreed when we're letting you buy half points on
- 5:36Speaker 3: live internet, it's got to come down to units. Otherwise,
- 5:39Speaker 3: I'll just buy points all over the place. Listen.
- 5:42Speaker 2: That's on me.
- 5:42Speaker 5: All right.
- 5:43Speaker 1: The Ford leaderboard segment is presented by Ford. A hard
- 5:46Speaker 1: day's work starts with one thing. Someone willing to do it.
- 5:49Speaker 1: And where there's a will, there's a Ford F-Series truck.
- 5:52Speaker 1: Let's get to the segment.
- 5:53Speaker 2: Taylor's the champ right now. Yeah. Listen, it's been a
- 5:56Speaker 2: good two weeks. Five-unit bet, parlay hit.
- 5:57Speaker 1: Five-unit bet hit, parlay hit. You could have taken everything
- 6:01Speaker 1: from me last week. As long as I got the
- 6:03Speaker 1: outcome that I did in Ann Arbor, that was really
- 6:04Speaker 1: all that mattered. Luckily, a win in Ann Arbor translated
- 6:08Speaker 1: to a win at the locker room.
- 6:09Speaker 2: I'll take it.
- 6:10Speaker 1: I am in a prime position right now. for someone
- 6:12Speaker 1: who hasn't gone through this before to be a little
- 6:14Speaker 1: too high on themselves, where somebody comes in patsy on
- 6:16Speaker 1: the ass and you've shit in their hand. So for me,
- 6:19Speaker 1: it's let's stay the course, let's stay in the film room.
- 6:22Speaker 2: What got you here?
- 6:23Speaker 1: What got you to week two being up this many
- 6:24Speaker 1: units is just being a student of the game and
- 6:27Speaker 1: watching over and over again. So that's what I'm focused on.
- 6:29Speaker 1: I love that, what is it, 11? What am I,
- 6:30Speaker 1: plus 11? You know my eyes are terrible. I can't see.
- 6:34Speaker 2: Taylor, you're up 11.44 units. I'm still in the tank. Again, brutal, brutal.
- 6:40Speaker 2: Week one for Willie C. I'm sitting in negative 5.89. Josh, 6.74.
- 6:46Speaker 3: Did you and I have the exact same record? We've
- 6:48Speaker 3: got the exact same record?
- 6:50Speaker 2: No, not record. You're beating me in units. Oh, I'm
- 6:52Speaker 2: talking about over the weekend. That's in totality. I had
- 6:56Speaker 2: a bad first week. It is what it is.
- 6:58Speaker 3: It's going to be a heated show. Last week, last week.
- 7:02Speaker 3: When the first quarter was over at the Michigan game,
- 7:05Speaker 3: I texted you the eyeball emoji because it was kind
- 7:08Speaker 3: of clear what was starting to happen.
- 7:09Speaker 2: I think we all felt it.
- 7:11Speaker 3: But you texted me back.
- 7:12Speaker 2: What did I say?
- 7:13Speaker 3: A lot of ball left.
- 7:13Speaker 2: A lot of ball left.
- 7:14Speaker 3: A lot of ball left.
- 7:15Speaker 1: When that run took place, I was rocking my baby.
- 7:19Speaker 3: Yep.
- 7:20Speaker 2: Almost woke her up.
- 7:21Speaker 1: Sat back and got grounded because I knew, like, listen—
- 7:24Speaker 1: John Mateer, I know the narrative on him right now
- 7:26Speaker 1: is that he's actually not that great. Everything we've been
- 7:29Speaker 1: saying for the past year and a half doesn't matter anymore.
- 7:31Speaker 1: He's not a Heisman guy, but he could strike at
- 7:35Speaker 1: any moment.
- 7:35Speaker 3: It's in there.
- 7:36Speaker 1: And they make X plays all the time. So I
- 7:38Speaker 1: was fired up. Another text exchange we had was, what's
- 7:43Speaker 1: the environment like in this before the game started? And
- 7:45Speaker 1: your text to me was, I suggest having a fast start.
- 7:47Speaker 2: Yep.
- 7:47Speaker 1: Because it was, we saw it on our show on Friday.
- 7:51Speaker 1: that Michigan was in a very fragile state.
- 7:53Speaker 3: We felt it. We felt it, we knew it. We
- 7:56Speaker 3: thought we felt it in the building. Then they just
- 7:57Speaker 3: took the fight to Oklahoma. It turns out there was
- 8:00Speaker 3: a lot of false confidence on the other side.
- 8:01Speaker 2: Yeah. I'm not even convinced that they feel good yet.
- 8:05Speaker 2: I would agree with that.
- 8:06Speaker 1: I think we all, from a Michigan standpoint, it's like, okay,
- 8:10Speaker 1: we know our offense or our defense is always going
- 8:12Speaker 1: to have us competitive in games. But if you want
- 8:15Speaker 1: to be a competitive team from a playoff standpoint and further,
- 8:19Speaker 1: then you need to, the offense has to get better.
- 8:21Speaker 1: And even when you turn on the film, We got
- 8:24Speaker 1: to get better in the passing game. Clearly, our running
- 8:26Speaker 1: backs have to get going. Our offensive line needs to
- 8:28Speaker 1: strain a little bit more. And then more than anything,
- 8:30Speaker 1: it's the penalties. Nine for over 100 in penalties. That's just,
- 8:34Speaker 1: you can't have that. It's going to get you beat.
- 8:35Speaker 2: Happy to have the win.
- 8:37Speaker 1: And also, it's great for new coaching staff. Big win early.
- 8:40Speaker 1: Players are going to buy into the coaching staff. All
- 8:43Speaker 1: of those things come with it. A snowball effect could happen.
- 8:46Speaker 1: But there's so much to work on. As a fan,
- 8:48Speaker 1: I sit there and.
- 8:49Speaker 2: I'm like, hang on, let me ask you a question.
- 8:50Speaker 2: Would you say that you're a playoff team right now?
- 8:54Speaker 2: I would say no. Because all offseason, you talked about,
- 8:59Speaker 2: I will know what these teams are going to be
- 9:01Speaker 2: after week two.
- 9:01Speaker 1: And I think that is still, I feel better about
- 9:06Speaker 1: our team as far as the gauntlet of a schedule
- 9:08Speaker 1: we have in that our defense, barring injuries, or just
- 9:13Speaker 1: massive mistakes, we are going to be a team that
- 9:15Speaker 1: is going to keep games close always. For me to
- 9:17Speaker 1: feel more comfortable, it's like Indiana. We were talking about
- 9:19Speaker 1: this before the show. Indiana's shown us nothing. That is
- 9:22Speaker 1: like where are their flaws?
- 9:23Speaker 2: What do they have?
- 9:24Speaker 1: They play cupcakes. So you don't really know what they are.
- 9:26Speaker 1: Oregon you feel more comfortable about, but we know Dan
- 9:28Speaker 1: Lanning's a culture guy. So then it's, they're probably going
- 9:31Speaker 1: to get right against Portland State and then go into
- 9:33Speaker 1: the Big Ten schedule and continue to grow. And maybe
- 9:36Speaker 1: that's one of the best things that's happened to them.
- 9:37Speaker 1: Ohio State was up by 20 points in the fourth quarter.
- 9:40Speaker 1: against Texas in Austin. So there's all these teams that
- 9:43Speaker 1: we play. Penn State's also sitting over there. USC's sitting
- 9:45Speaker 1: over there. All these teams in the Big Ten that
- 9:48Speaker 1: we don't know who we are yet, like this conference
- 9:50Speaker 1: doesn't know. So I just need the offense to get better.
- 9:53Speaker 1: I'll tell you after Iowa. I'll tell you after Iowa.
- 9:58Speaker 1: As he said all year.
- 9:59Speaker 2: I'll know after the Iowa game.
- 10:00Speaker 3: Game.
- 10:00Speaker 1: Two weeks from now, we play another top 25 team.
- 10:03Speaker 1: In Iowa, if we know one thing about that game,
- 10:06Speaker 1: it's going to be a lot of punting.
- 10:07Speaker 2: I don't know what the total is. A lot of
- 10:09Speaker 2: good defense.
- 10:09Speaker 1: A lot of good defense is going to take place.
- 10:12Speaker 1: And it's just who coaches better, who makes the one play.
- 10:16Speaker 1: So I don't want to turn this into a hole.
- 10:19Speaker 1: Michigan date the whole time.
- 10:20Speaker 2: I'm happy with what happened.
- 10:21Speaker 3: I'm over the moon.
- 10:22Speaker 1: The birthday party went great. If you guys are wondering
- 10:24Speaker 1: after some of the boys showed up, it was incredible.
- 10:26Speaker 1: Vibes were extremely high.
- 10:30Speaker 2: Onward. You picked against them.
- 10:33Speaker 3: Whereas you, it locked arm in arm.
- 10:36Speaker 2: I did.
- 10:37Speaker 3: Michigan under. Michigan under.
- 10:39Speaker 2: My face was on Will's pic. My face was on
- 10:43Speaker 2: Will's pic.
- 10:44Speaker 1: And I said this to you before the show. I've
- 10:46Speaker 1: said this to you multiple times. I think you handled
- 10:50Speaker 1: supporting me as much as you can with my team
- 10:53Speaker 1: while also not just being like ridiculous about it. Like
- 10:57Speaker 1: you did the best you could given the circumstances of
- 10:59Speaker 1: week one.
- 10:59Speaker 2: Yeah. Yes.
- 11:05Speaker 3: You know what story I'm sitting on.
- 11:07Speaker 2: No.
- 11:08Speaker 3: You know what I'm sitting on.
- 11:11Speaker 2: Hold on, just real quick, real quick.
- 11:13Speaker 1: I want you to tell a story, but if it
- 11:15Speaker 1: probably is anything of us going over the pickups we
- 11:17Speaker 1: did on the bus and then like, oh, this is
- 11:19Speaker 1: where you guys picked versus who Will picked.
- 11:20Speaker 2: No, no, no, no. Will picked Oklahoma.
- 11:21Speaker 3: This is not that. This is not you refusing to
- 11:23Speaker 3: look Ryan Day in the face. This is none of that. Stop.
- 11:25Speaker 6: This is worse than that.
- 11:26Speaker 2: You got to stop with that false narrative.
- 11:28Speaker 3: Okay. I'm a big enough man to let you tell
- 11:32Speaker 3: this story if you want to. But if you don't
- 11:33Speaker 3: want to tell it.
- 11:34Speaker 2: I'll tell it. I think it's funny. I think you
- 11:38Speaker 2: had the perspective of me saying it to you. I
- 11:40Speaker 2: think it's better if it comes out of your mouth.
- 11:41Speaker 3: So we're in the volleyball arena Friday, right?
- 11:45Speaker 2: Oh.
- 11:46Speaker 3: Before the show.
- 11:47Speaker 2: We got done walking around the building, feeling the vibe
- 11:49Speaker 2: in the building. Yeah, okay. All right.
- 11:52Speaker 3: We've seen our set. We've talked to some of the locals.
- 11:55Speaker 3: We've come back in, and Tom, who kind of spearheads
- 11:58Speaker 3: the production talk for us before the show, longtime Ohio
- 12:02Speaker 3: State fan, rips his shirt off before the production meeting starts,
- 12:07Speaker 3: and he's got a Taylor LeJuan jersey on, and everyone
- 12:10Speaker 3: goes crazy. And you're hugging him. I think I saw
- 12:13Speaker 3: a tear coming. Like everyone's fired up. It's a big
- 12:16Speaker 3: camaraderie moment. It's like camaraderie fest. And William, he claps too.
- 12:21Speaker 3: He shows outwardly that he's in full support of this move.
- 12:24Speaker 3: And then he kind of slinks off into the back.
- 12:26Speaker 3: And I just happened to be back there and he
- 12:27Speaker 3: walks up and says, bro, I'm glad he's got Tom
- 12:30Speaker 3: on his side. No.
- 12:34Speaker 2: And it was such a good laugh I got out
- 12:36Speaker 2: of pay too.
- 12:37Speaker 3: Yeah. He's still got a full smile on his face.
- 12:42Speaker 3: The eyes are bulged and he goes, I'm glad he's
- 12:45Speaker 3: got Tom on his side.
- 12:47Speaker 2: Celebrating still happening. Oh wow, this is in the midst
- 12:50Speaker 2: of it. You're watching dead people talk to each other.
- 12:52Speaker 2: You're still embracing this in the back room. At least
- 12:54Speaker 2: he's got Tom.
- 12:55Speaker 3: I'm glad he's got Tom on his side.
- 12:56Speaker 2: So I never really had you. You had me on
- 12:58Speaker 2: the under. That's better than Jerry Maguire. You had me
- 13:03Speaker 2: on the under and your face was on my pick.
- 13:06Speaker 2: Like gun to my head, you're not my life. Like
- 13:08Speaker 2: I'm going to Oklahoma. 10 times out of 10, I
- 13:10Speaker 2: would have lost.
- 13:11Speaker 3: I would have been dead.
- 13:12Speaker 2: I would have been shot. I hope you learned a
- 13:15Speaker 2: valuable lesson. Don't pick against Michigan. What's the... Because I
- 13:20Speaker 2: still don't feel good about... To be honest, I was
- 13:21Speaker 2: hoping you'd finish that. I'm being 100% honest. We feel
- 13:26Speaker 2: good though. Environment was good.
- 13:29Speaker 6: Can I give a shout out to Pate? Is it
- 13:31Speaker 6: Friday Night Lions you do?
- 13:32Speaker 2: Yeah. He did say one of his favorite bets of
- 13:35Speaker 2: the entire weekend was under 21 and a.
- 13:37Speaker 6: Half in the first half of Michigan.
- 13:39Speaker 2: He did. Nailed it and it was beautiful.
- 13:41Speaker 3: So thank you.
- 13:41Speaker 2: Nailed it. Good for us. Good for us.
- 13:43Speaker 3: Look at the three of us.
- 13:44Speaker 2: Because Klump came in the chat right away. Yeah, Klump
- 13:47Speaker 2: came in the chat right away.
- 13:48Speaker 3: Were you in the live chat?
- 13:49Speaker 6: Yeah, I was in the live chat. What's your Michigan,
- 13:52Speaker 6: Oklahoma thing?
- 13:52Speaker 2: Oh, my bad.
- 13:53Speaker 3: I'll shout you out next time.
- 13:55Speaker 2: Yeah, Klump's got like six burners. That's why I never know.
- 14:00Speaker 2: Week three.
- 14:01Speaker 1: Not a whole lot of storylines taking place in week three.
- 14:03Speaker 3: No, nothing much. Really flat this week.
- 14:05Speaker 2: It's a dead slate.
- 14:06Speaker 1: It's a dead slate. Not a whole lot to look into,
- 14:07Speaker 1: but we have to do a show.
- 14:09Speaker 3: Did you ever have a lawsuit served against you the
- 14:11Speaker 3: week before you went into a rivalry game? Because that's
- 14:14Speaker 3: something that happens at LSU now.
- 14:15Speaker 2: I have not. No?
- 14:16Speaker 3: Okay. So, so far, so far, we've got a week
- 14:19Speaker 3: of furloughs.
- 14:20Speaker 2: I'm big in. I'll be honest. I don't know. I
- 14:21Speaker 2: didn't know if he was like doing a zinger.
- 14:23Speaker 1: Oh, did you not know? Did you not know what happened?
- 14:27Speaker 1: Was it yesterday, correct?
- 14:28Speaker 3: Yeah. Pete Thamel broke it this morning that Prince Will, Jesse,
- 14:32Speaker 3: you mind me yelling? Prince Will, you mind me yelling,
- 14:35Speaker 3: had lawsuit papers served to him in a parking lot
- 14:40Speaker 3: because of the whole Ole Miss leaving and we don't
- 14:42Speaker 3: like you leaving and I don't want to get legal
- 14:44Speaker 3: on you, but he got papers served to him in
- 14:46Speaker 3: the parking lot. You can tell me, I'll stare back
- 14:47Speaker 3: at you. Yeah, I actually don't know.
- 14:49Speaker 2: I don't know how much will happen at Ole Miss.
- 14:52Speaker 1: Served a player on LSU after he left Ole Miss.
- 14:55Speaker 3: The week of the game.
- 14:56Speaker 2: The week that they are playing.
- 14:57Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 14:58Speaker 2: Suing him for the money that he owes them.
- 15:01Speaker 3: Yes.
- 15:01Speaker 2: Damn. That's what's taking place between. That's crazy. LSU. What?
- 15:07Speaker 2: I'm just finishing the whole. The chat will know. Go
- 15:11Speaker 2: off in the comments section. Go off in the comments.
- 15:13Speaker 2: It's so rare. When you get told the story, you're like, damn,
- 15:16Speaker 2: that's crazy.
- 15:16Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 15:19Speaker 2: So yeah, dude, it's nuts.
- 15:20Speaker 1: No, they've literally come out publicly and said there's not
- 15:23Speaker 1: going to be a National Guard in Oxford, but there's
- 15:26Speaker 1: going to be more police from Alabama, from Louisiana. They've
- 15:30Speaker 1: gone from usually six guys on horseback to another 19
- 15:32Speaker 1: guys on horseback. They're expecting riots.
- 15:37Speaker 2: As they should. Yeah. I mean, it's going to be barbaric.
- 15:40Speaker 2: There's going to be some Old Testament, an Old Testament
- 15:42Speaker 2: scene that we're going to have in Oxford this weekend.
- 15:44Speaker 2: And I love the way Lane Kiffin's handling it.
- 15:47Speaker 1: I love the fact that he's on a press conference
- 15:50Speaker 1: and he's like, they won 13 games last year.
- 15:52Speaker 2: He was the head coach.
- 15:53Speaker 1: We won seven. There's no pressure on us. There's all
- 15:57Speaker 1: the pressures on them because they won last year. They
- 15:59Speaker 1: won more games. And it's like the ultimate spin zone.
- 16:04Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 16:04Speaker 2: It is the ultimate troll spin zone.
- 16:06Speaker 3: Everything. They've got two Heisman candidates in the backfield that
- 16:09Speaker 3: I recruited.
- 16:10Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah. That I, yeah.
- 16:11Speaker 1: That I set up to be Heisman candidates. It's, this
- 16:14Speaker 1: is going to be monumental.
- 16:15Speaker 3: It's his wheelhouse.
- 16:16Speaker 1: This is exactly where Lane Kiffin is, where.
- 16:19Speaker 2: He needs to be right now.
- 16:20Speaker 3: He would do this every week if he could.
- 16:22Speaker 1: I think that's his goal, is to create these kind
- 16:23Speaker 1: of narratives throughout every single week so every school hates him,
- 16:26Speaker 1: but the school he's at.
- 16:27Speaker 2: Because LSU can't feel safe either. If you look at
- 16:29Speaker 2: his track record.
- 16:30Speaker 3: And hey, that's what he's going for. He's well on
- 16:32Speaker 3: his way.
- 16:32Speaker 2: He is well on his way. This football season, whether
- 16:35Speaker 2: you're buying tickets, booking travel, or shopping for team gear,
- 16:39Speaker 2: protect your pocket with Visa. Tapping to pay for a
- 16:43Speaker 2: bootleg jersey without checking the card? Not a pro move.
- 16:46Speaker 2: Tapping to pay with Visa? That's a pro move. Visa
- 16:50Speaker 2: runs more than 500 security checks to help identify fraud
- 16:53Speaker 2: before transactions are approved. helping protect your payment all the
- 16:57Speaker 2: way to the end zone so you can focus on
- 16:59Speaker 2: other things, like whether boneless wings are actually wings. Reaching
- 17:03Speaker 2: for your card with five fingers covered in buffalo sauce?
- 17:06Speaker 2: That's a fumble waiting to happen. Not a pro move.
- 17:09Speaker 2: Tapping to pay with Visa? That's a pro move. Because
- 17:12Speaker 2: with Visa, you're not responsible for any charges you didn't make.
- 17:15Speaker 2: so you can save your defensive energy for something else,
- 17:18Speaker 2: like keeping the boy Taylor away from your nachos. This season,
- 17:22Speaker 2: a great defensive play is paying with Visa, the most
- 17:25Speaker 2: trusted way to pay for football fans everywhere. You guys
- 17:29Speaker 2: are fired up about the Gravely Game of the Week
- 17:30Speaker 2: right now. I know. We'll save. Keep it safe. We'll save.
- 17:34Speaker 2: We'll buckle it up. We honestly have a low-key slate
- 17:37Speaker 2: upon us. The boys busing and paid on campus will
- 17:40Speaker 2: be at Auburn on Friday afternoon. 2 to 3 p.m.
- 17:44Speaker 2: Eastern time. Come join the boys. Come to the show.
- 17:46Speaker 2: Come support the fellas. We got Houston at Texas Tech
- 17:49Speaker 2: on Friday night. SMU at Louisville. Mississippi State at South Carolina. Well,
- 17:53Speaker 2: I'm excited to see where we all go there. That's
- 17:55Speaker 2: a fireworks game. It's a fireworks game. Fireworks game. We
- 17:59Speaker 2: got a guy in here who rides the cocks, man.
- 18:02Speaker 2: Rides them hard. I didn't even mean to say it.
- 18:04Speaker 2: I didn't even mean to do that. But every year
- 18:06Speaker 2: he rides them hard.
- 18:07Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 18:08Speaker 2: It's football season. Yeah, exactly. Exactly. What game would you
- 18:12Speaker 2: like to start with? Let's go Florida-Auburn. Okay. The game
- 18:15Speaker 2: we're going to this Friday. Yeah, let's go Florida-Auburn.
- 18:17Speaker 1: First time in Auburn. Heard how haunted it is, how
- 18:20Speaker 1: scary it is. I'm personally very fired up for the game.
- 18:22Speaker 1: Two coaches that are seeing each other for the first time.
- 18:25Speaker 1: One coach that was supposed to maybe go to Auburn
- 18:28Speaker 1: ends up going to Florida.
- 18:29Speaker 3: You want to go down that road, huh?
- 18:31Speaker 2: I mean, is that kind of... Do you think there's anything.
- 18:32Speaker 1: I'm not fully versed in that storyline.
- 18:34Speaker 3: It's proper context. But.
- 18:36Speaker 1: Auburn was trying, they were both essentially trying to get Summerall.
- 18:39Speaker 3: You want me to tell you what happened?
- 18:40Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah. I was going to paint a picture, but
- 18:41Speaker 2: go ahead.
- 18:42Speaker 3: Hugh Freeze was gone. John Summerall was all but a
- 18:44Speaker 3: lot for the Auburn job. Administratively, they really screwed the
- 18:48Speaker 3: landing up and they had to pull the nose up
- 18:51Speaker 3: at the last minute, do a run around or in
- 18:53Speaker 3: coaching terms, They had to move on to their second
- 18:55Speaker 3: option because Summerall said, yeah, I'm good. And then Florida
- 18:57Speaker 3: hired John Summerall. And then Alex Golish looked locked in
- 19:00Speaker 3: for Arkansas. But just between the three of us, no
- 19:02Speaker 3: one else listening, I don't think Golish was going to
- 19:04Speaker 3: go to Arkansas. Ever. I think he was going to
- 19:06Speaker 3: choose USF over Arkansas. And if anyone's watching Arkansas right now,
- 19:10Speaker 3: you kind of see why. But then the Auburn job's open.
- 19:14Speaker 3: And Alex Golish takes the Auburn job. And kind of
- 19:17Speaker 3: like with the Penn State thing, how they– Sort of
- 19:20Speaker 3: low-key screwed up the process for the better part of
- 19:22Speaker 3: 50 days. Penn State ends up with Matt Campbell, so
- 19:25Speaker 3: it's a big win. Auburn ended up with Alex Golish,
- 19:27Speaker 3: which is also a big win. But that's for five
- 19:30Speaker 3: years from now for us to dissect. As for this weekend,
- 19:33Speaker 3: the guy you got is facing the guy that you
- 19:37Speaker 3: thought you had, who's got family ties to Auburn. But
- 19:41Speaker 3: who's at a press conference in Gainesville saying anyone pulling
- 19:43Speaker 3: for Auburn when Florida puts food on our table is
- 19:46Speaker 3: dead to me. And then Golish is back in Lee County,
- 19:49Speaker 3: which is where Auburn is. saying Golish said we're friends
- 19:51Speaker 3: or Summerall said we're friends not this week we're not
- 19:55Speaker 3: and then people are calling it performative because I don't
- 19:57Speaker 3: think people understand the spirit of competition spirit of competition
- 20:00Speaker 3: is beautiful.
- 20:00Speaker 2: Gotta be your goal is to you gotta be yeah
- 20:03Speaker 2: this has to be a personal feeling like you're you're
- 20:06Speaker 2: coaching against a guy that Auburn wanted yeah You're basically
- 20:10Speaker 2: seeing the almost X.
- 20:12Speaker 1: They ran to and they said no, so they settled
- 20:14Speaker 1: for you.
- 20:15Speaker 2: And Florida looks good right now.
- 20:16Speaker 1: And we'll see it in five years. We'll know the
- 20:19Speaker 1: true result of all three of these coaches, four of
- 20:21Speaker 1: these coaches.
- 20:21Speaker 3: Here's what I think.
- 20:22Speaker 1: This week is a big like, it's, you know, it's
- 20:25Speaker 1: what have you done for me lately? That's what sports
- 20:27Speaker 1: is all about. So this is where they can all
- 20:28Speaker 1: plant their flag.
- 20:29Speaker 3: What I mean when I say we'll see in five years,
- 20:31Speaker 3: which I've said before on the show, is I think
- 20:33Speaker 3: Matt Campbell and Alex Golish will both win. And I
- 20:36Speaker 3: think that some people who did everything to screw up
- 20:39Speaker 3: the hiring process will end up getting credited when they
- 20:42Speaker 3: shouldn't be credited. But that's neither here nor there. I
- 20:46Speaker 3: do have a question about the game. Florida's favored by
- 20:49Speaker 3: two and a half. Do you think the right team's favored?
- 20:53Speaker 3: Because if you add on home field, this is basically
- 20:56Speaker 3: FanDuel telling you Florida's like four and a half or
- 20:59Speaker 3: five points better than Auburn. And so far they've played
- 21:01Speaker 3: a grand total of FAU and Campbell. Campbell's mascot is what? Exactly.
- 21:07Speaker 3: No one knows anything about Florida. The camels, by the way,
- 21:09Speaker 3: it's the camels. No one knows anything about Florida. Now
- 21:13Speaker 3: what we do know about Auburn is they played Baylor
- 21:15Speaker 3: and it was really clunky. Some of us got emotional
- 21:18Speaker 3: and got chastised for being emotional watching that game towards
- 21:20Speaker 3: the end.
- 21:20Speaker 2: But that was a tight game.
- 21:23Speaker 3: So what would you rather know? Would you rather know
- 21:25Speaker 3: that you have some flaws and inefficiencies, but find out
- 21:28Speaker 3: in a win in week one, Or would you rather
- 21:31Speaker 3: know nothing about yourself except that you've got a brand
- 21:34Speaker 3: new quarterback that started four total games in his career
- 21:39Speaker 3: and a brand new coordinator and a whole brand new
- 21:42Speaker 3: staff and we're going on the road for the first
- 21:43Speaker 3: time against a team that learned a lot about itself
- 21:46Speaker 3: in week one and now gets to welcome us into
- 21:48Speaker 3: their backyard with a quarterback who, throwing motion problems or not,
- 21:53Speaker 3: is starting his 35th career game and we're an underdog?
- 21:58Speaker 3: Auburn's the underdog?
- 21:59Speaker 2: I don't want to see Byron Brown throw on the
- 22:02Speaker 2: perimeter with that throwing motion. It scares me every time.
- 22:05Speaker 2: Somebody's going to take that shit to the house. Now,
- 22:07Speaker 2: I do think he can dial downfield and operate the offense.
- 22:12Speaker 2: He is a dynamic in the running game. But when
- 22:14Speaker 2: he throws on the perimeter, I hold my breath every time.
- 22:16Speaker 2: He almost got taken to the house last week against
- 22:18Speaker 2: whoever they played. Yeah, it was like Southern Miss.
- 22:22Speaker 3: He was picked off three times in week one. We
- 22:24Speaker 3: watched that. All of us have watched Auburn play at
- 22:28Speaker 3: least one game this year. Does it seem like everything's
- 22:30Speaker 3: a little slow?
- 22:32Speaker 2: Yes.
- 22:32Speaker 3: A little non-rhythmic? You've watched them at USF.
- 22:35Speaker 2: I was thinking, yeah, as far as tempo goes, one
- 22:37Speaker 2: and two in the country. I haven't felt that whatsoever.
- 22:40Speaker 2: I don't know what's... I don't know how they're trying
- 22:44Speaker 2: to get the ball going. I like them at the
- 22:46Speaker 2: line of scrimmage, though. Like when you ask about, do
- 22:49Speaker 2: you feel like the right team is favored? I think
- 22:50Speaker 2: the right team's favored. I think Florida, they look incredible offensively.
- 22:54Speaker 2: A lot of explosive. A lot of athletes. Their offense
- 22:57Speaker 2: can go. We were joking on the bus this week.
- 22:59Speaker 2: This offense is floor offense. They've got to go. They've
- 23:02Speaker 2: got to go. They have athletes everywhere. It was Dallas Wilson. Yep.
- 23:07Speaker 2: Vernon Brown. Studs, like number one, Vernon, he's their gadget guy.
- 23:12Speaker 2: Six is an athlete. They have an athlete at quarterback
- 23:15Speaker 2: with Aaron Filo. Their running back is good. I'm not
- 23:18Speaker 2: in love with their line of scrimmage. I'm not in
- 23:21Speaker 2: love with their front seven on defense. But I think
- 23:26Speaker 2: when you look at is the right team favorite, I
- 23:28Speaker 2: think there's a lot of excitement around Florida right now.
- 23:30Speaker 2: I like Auburn. I think Auburn is going to be
- 23:33Speaker 2: able to run the football on this team. I think
- 23:35Speaker 2: this is a front seven that Florida hasn't seen, close
- 23:39Speaker 2: to seeing. We can talk about what Auburn's going to
- 23:41Speaker 2: be if they're going to win over six and a
- 23:42Speaker 2: half or seven and a half games this year all
- 23:43Speaker 2: we want. But the defense is the top defense in
- 23:46Speaker 2: the country, especially in the SEC. They fly to the football.
- 23:49Speaker 2: And Byron Brown, if they can control the line of scrimmage,
- 23:51Speaker 2: I think they can bleed him out a little bit.
- 23:53Speaker 2: I don't think it's going to be a shootout by
- 23:54Speaker 2: any means. If I lean anywhere on total, it's the under.
- 23:57Speaker 2: But I like Auburn. I think Auburn, with the three
- 24:00Speaker 2: turnovers that they had, Byron's just going to have to
- 24:02Speaker 2: protect the football. But if he does that, I like
- 24:04Speaker 2: Auburn in the sand. I'm going to go confidence level three.
- 24:07Speaker 2: I'm going to go three units, and I'm going to
- 24:09Speaker 2: go Auburn money line. Auburn Moneyline. Wow. That's a nice pull. Okay.
- 24:13Speaker 2: I'm going to go Auburn Moneyline. Do you agree with
- 24:15Speaker 2: Will Compton on Auburn?
- 24:17Speaker 3: I agree that Florida hasn't played anybody. And I agree
- 24:21Speaker 3: that Vernell Brown and they're getting Singleton back this week
- 24:24Speaker 3: who played at Auburn last year and was completely wasted.
- 24:27Speaker 3: Not in terms of alcohol. Literally, they didn't use him
- 24:30Speaker 3: because they couldn't get him the ball. Dallas Wilson, Jaden
- 24:33Speaker 3: Ball may be the best tailback in the league for
- 24:35Speaker 3: all we know, but it's about whether I can distribute
- 24:38Speaker 3: the ball to them or not. Otherwise, they're just wasted.
- 24:40Speaker 3: And for all the trust that people have, including me long-term,
- 24:44Speaker 3: in Buster Faulkner and Aaron Filo, that combo coming in
- 24:47Speaker 3: from Georgia Tech. You see how bad Georgia Tech is
- 24:49Speaker 3: this year without them. Obviously, that's a good combo. That's
- 24:52Speaker 3: a good package. I'm just so fresh. off of watching
- 24:55Speaker 3: Oklahoma come into Michigan with sky-high confidence and get totally
- 25:00Speaker 3: rattled and everything that they thought they knew about themselves
- 25:03Speaker 3: and everything that some of us thought we knew about
- 25:05Speaker 3: Oklahoma gets thrown in the ditch. I'm so fresh off
- 25:09Speaker 3: of that that I'm really cautious about this. And I
- 25:12Speaker 3: think there's a lot to be said. Byron Brown, even
- 25:15Speaker 3: with some of his faults and flaws, The experience factor
- 25:19Speaker 3: combined with the home field factor combined with so much
- 25:23Speaker 3: newness at Florida, I think it's too early to respect
- 25:25Speaker 3: them to the point where they're favored on the road.
- 25:27Speaker 3: So yes, I agree with William, two units for me,
- 25:31Speaker 3: but Auburn, I'll take a money line too.
- 25:34Speaker 2: Two units, three units.
- 25:37Speaker 1: The scariest part about this game to me is where
- 25:39Speaker 1: it's being played. I've never been to Auburn, I'm excited
- 25:42Speaker 1: to see it for the first time, but hearing how
- 25:43Speaker 1: haunted it is, and even Nick Saban, who's the greatest
- 25:46Speaker 1: college coach of all time, the way he talks.
- 25:47Speaker 2: About it.
- 25:49Speaker 1: Gives me some unease. Another thing that gives me unease
- 25:53Speaker 1: about Florida is Auburn, between these two teams, is tested
- 25:57Speaker 1: the most. I don't know how good Baylor is, but
- 25:58Speaker 1: they still had to get up for a game in
- 26:00Speaker 1: week one and go against competent competition. They didn't look
- 26:03Speaker 1: great during it. Byron Brown, I had sky-high expectations for him.
- 26:07Speaker 1: I know the Graveyard also had sky-high expectations. Don't love
- 26:10Speaker 1: the throwing motion. They do want to play in the
- 26:12Speaker 1: perimeter that Will was talking about, where they kind of
- 26:14Speaker 1: dump it out and let their.
- 26:17Speaker 2: the sorry, Cody.
- 26:18Speaker 1: Was started doing this and I got distracted. I didn't
- 26:20Speaker 1: get to take the, the supplements that will took this morning.
- 26:23Speaker 1: So he's operating, but no notes, no notes. Byron Brown,
- 26:27Speaker 1: he'll throw it off to the perimeter and he, they
- 26:29Speaker 1: expect their guys to, you know, go get yards. I
- 26:32Speaker 1: just don't see with how aggressive the secondary in Florida,
- 26:35Speaker 1: how they're not going to challenge that and make Byron
- 26:36Speaker 1: Brown beat him through the year.
- 26:38Speaker 2: He can do it.
- 26:39Speaker 1: Like you see Southern miss, which, you know, we, you
- 26:41Speaker 1: can say what you want about college football, Southern miss.
- 26:43Speaker 1: Like they, I think they had two total guys in
- 26:45Speaker 1: their roster. at the end of the transfer portal last year,
- 26:47Speaker 1: that it's not a real D1 school. No disrespect to them.
- 26:50Speaker 1: It's just the reality of where we live. You see
- 26:53Speaker 1: the flashes in Byron Brown. He gets one call back
- 26:56Speaker 1: from holding, then he runs 40 yards, breaks multiple tackles,
- 26:58Speaker 1: he gets a touchdown, he throws it deep to number four,
- 27:01Speaker 1: right in the breadbasket on a vert. That one's called incomplete.
- 27:04Speaker 1: I just don't trust that he's not going to give
- 27:06Speaker 1: Florida the ball. You brought up the trenches. People are
- 27:09Speaker 1: down on Florida's offensive.
- 27:10Speaker 2: Line, but I.
- 27:12Speaker 1: I know they haven't been challenged, but I see a
- 27:14Speaker 1: group of guys, five guys that are going in the
- 27:16Speaker 1: same direction to the same people with the same technique,
- 27:19Speaker 1: showing me that they're well coached. They haven't had a
- 27:21Speaker 1: lot of penalties. They haven't had a lot of turnovers.
- 27:23Speaker 1: Philo's only had one in the two games. And then
- 27:26Speaker 1: you said that little running back, Jaden Ball, is good.
- 27:30Speaker 1: Then you said might be the best. I think he is.
- 27:33Speaker 1: I'm in that camp where I think Jaden Ball is.
- 27:36Speaker 1: with let's say the offense line is slightly above average
- 27:40Speaker 1: to average. When DJ Durkin, who's going to bring pressure,
- 27:43Speaker 1: especially up the middle during the game, his vision is incredible.
- 27:46Speaker 1: He can stop on a dime and turn things into
- 27:49Speaker 1: X plays. I don't think Philo has to be a
- 27:52Speaker 1: hero in this game. I think he has to just
- 27:56Speaker 1: take what the defense gives him. He's going to be
- 27:58Speaker 1: put under pressure. I think he's an effective runner. I
- 28:01Speaker 1: just like the operation that Florida's had up until this point.
- 28:04Speaker 1: You can't judge them based on competition, but it's how
- 28:06Speaker 1: they have operated as a team.
- 28:08Speaker 2: You judged Southern Miss on competition. Like Florida's won against
- 28:11Speaker 2: a couple of Montessori schools.
- 28:12Speaker 1: Southern Miss is, it's like, you know, you take some
- 28:15Speaker 1: of our audience and put them in uniforms.
- 28:17Speaker 2: And it's like, that's kind of a shot at our
- 28:19Speaker 2: crowd who showed up for this support. Hold up the sign, Jack.
- 28:22Speaker 2: Do we see any D1 football?
- 28:24Speaker 1: I'm saying the talent level of Southern Miss is not
- 28:28Speaker 1: there at all. Auburn didn't get it going. till later
- 28:33Speaker 1: because they bite themselves in the ass. So Florida, it's like,
- 28:37Speaker 1: I have to watch the film of who they play
- 28:39Speaker 1: against and they play FAU, who is their best competition
- 28:42Speaker 1: up to that point. I'm I think where Auburn has
- 28:44Speaker 1: a huge edge, I'm not high on their offensive line,
- 28:46Speaker 1: but I'm even lower on Florida's defensive line. I don't
- 28:49Speaker 1: think their defensive line is. very elusive. They're not slippery.
- 28:53Speaker 1: They're more like magnets to offensive linemen. They kind of
- 28:55Speaker 1: stick to blocks. I think they'll do okay in the
- 28:57Speaker 1: run game because I like their linebackers quite a bit.
- 28:59Speaker 1: But as far as like rushing the passer, they're going
- 29:02Speaker 1: to have to bring one or two extra. Philo, fourth
- 29:04Speaker 1: start ever, but he's had the same offensive coordinator who
- 29:06Speaker 1: came up from Georgia Tech with him. I like that continuity.
- 29:09Speaker 1: I love Jaden Ball. I love one. I love six.
- 29:13Speaker 1: I just think there's, at the end of the day,
- 29:15Speaker 1: there's way more talent on Florida than there is Auburn.
- 29:18Speaker 1: They've played cleaner against lesser competition, which is what you
- 29:21Speaker 1: kind of need to check the box at this point.
- 29:23Speaker 1: So I'm going to take Florida. I'm going to take
- 29:25Speaker 1: them plus the points, and I'll go two units on that.
- 29:28Speaker 1: That's how I feel. I like Florida in this game.
- 29:32Speaker 6: Southern Miss did make a bowl game last year.
- 29:34Speaker 2: Southern Miss also had two guys on the roster after
- 29:37Speaker 2: the transfer portal took place. And I'm not saying I'm
- 29:40Speaker 2: low on their offensive line because you were kind of
- 29:43Speaker 2: educating me on them knowing what they're doing, playing hard,
- 29:45Speaker 2: like all of this stuff. I just, when I'm watching it,
- 29:48Speaker 2: I just don't see them moving the line of scrimmage
- 29:51Speaker 2: where Auburn has got a tough front seven. And you
- 29:54Speaker 2: talk about Aaron Filo, too. All the question marks with
- 29:58Speaker 2: Byron Brown, like he's still 4,000 total yards of offense
- 30:02Speaker 2: his last couple seasons. Like the dude is, his evidence
- 30:05Speaker 2: is there that he is a guy who can play
- 30:07Speaker 2: well in this system. And he's good on the ground.
- 30:11Speaker 2: And they go against Baylor. Baylor had, like you were
- 30:13Speaker 2: talking about it going into week one. One thing that
- 30:16Speaker 2: Aranda was high on was their defensive line. And they
- 30:19Speaker 2: might not have had the best game running the ball,
- 30:21Speaker 2: but 23 was still averaging five a carry. Like they just,
- 30:24Speaker 2: they turned the ball over three times. And Aaron Filo too,
- 30:26Speaker 2: fourth career start. When you watch both of those games,
- 30:30Speaker 2: he had two third down plays. He had two third
- 30:33Speaker 2: downs in the first game and three in the second game.
- 30:35Speaker 2: He hasn't been stressed. He hasn't been tested. They have
- 30:39Speaker 2: the athletes. They've just out-athleted guys. They have a lot
- 30:42Speaker 2: of explosive plays. But again, it's like when you have
- 30:45Speaker 2: a stacked defense like Auburn does, I'm excited to see
- 30:48Speaker 2: Aaron Filo. Is he? Because he looks like a good athlete.
- 30:50Speaker 2: He looks scrappy. He's accurate. He can do all the things.
- 30:53Speaker 2: But he hasn't been under any pressure. He hasn't had
- 30:56Speaker 2: to go out there and win because they got the
- 30:57Speaker 2: twos in in the second half. So you don't have
- 30:59Speaker 2: a lot of like, hey, let's watch him on this
- 31:01Speaker 2: third down that they got to have right He just
- 31:03Speaker 2: hasn't been in those situations. And he'll be in a
- 31:05Speaker 2: lot of those third down situations against Auburn. Yeah.
- 31:08Speaker 1: So a couple of things you said. The offensive line.
- 31:12Speaker 1: Are they the world beaters? I think that's to be determined.
- 31:14Speaker 1: The answer is probably not. Buster Faulkner, the offensive coordinator,
- 31:17Speaker 1: what I think he does a great job in the
- 31:19Speaker 1: run game is he gets these, which Auburn is a
- 31:22Speaker 1: penetrating defense. gets them to run East and West with
- 31:24Speaker 1: their outside zone game. Cause Jaden Baugh has a great
- 31:26Speaker 1: job of running outside zone. So they'll get on their,
- 31:29Speaker 1: you know, outside zone scheme, Wanda, Force, Zorro type of runs,
- 31:34Speaker 1: getting the defense to run East to West. And then
- 31:36Speaker 1: once they get them less penetrating, all of a sudden
- 31:39Speaker 1: they're hitting a gap scheme down. So it's having the
- 31:42Speaker 1: offensive line play as a cohesive unit, but it's also
- 31:45Speaker 1: scheming them into advantageous situations, which regardless of the competition
- 31:50Speaker 1: they're going against, Buster's done that. Um, And then the
- 31:53Speaker 1: run game is everything. Like Philo, 50% of his passes
- 31:56Speaker 1: have come out of the play action. So for Florida
- 31:58Speaker 1: to be successful, they have to run the ball really well.
- 32:01Speaker 1: I think they're going to do that against this very
- 32:03Speaker 1: aggressive defense. There's going to be splash phase. There's going
- 32:06Speaker 1: to be TFLs. That's Durkin's defense. But I think there's
- 32:09Speaker 1: going to be holes for a ball to exploit. And
- 32:12Speaker 1: that is where I think you start to get guys
- 32:14Speaker 1: to come down a little bit more. That's where the
- 32:16Speaker 1: shots are at. And then that's where you get athlete
- 32:18Speaker 1: versus athlete. I'm taking Florida.
- 32:19Speaker 2: Josh Pate.
- 32:21Speaker 3: I still believe everything I said about Auburn, but listening
- 32:24Speaker 3: to you really ignited a new belief in my mind
- 32:27Speaker 3: that no one could have made a better case for
- 32:29Speaker 3: under 53 and a half than the three of us
- 32:32Speaker 3: combined just did on this show. So not only do
- 32:35Speaker 3: I want to change my pick on this game to
- 32:37Speaker 3: under 53 and a half, I want to hit the table.
- 32:40Speaker 2: On under 53 and a half. Wow. Five units on
- 32:43Speaker 2: the under.
- 32:46Speaker 6: Under 53 and a half.
- 32:46Speaker 2: You want to do something too. I know, he kind
- 32:49Speaker 2: of excites you. Long show. Long show. Long season. What
- 32:54Speaker 2: was the straw that broke the camel's back on that?
- 32:57Speaker 3: There's just so many different scenarios for the crowbar theory
- 33:00Speaker 3: to be in play here for either offense to grind
- 33:03Speaker 3: to a halt. You made the case for Florida, really
- 33:06Speaker 3: we all kind of did, of maybe it clicks, but
- 33:08Speaker 3: we don't know, maybe it doesn't. And if you've had
- 33:10Speaker 3: a lot of explosivity, if you've out-athleted people, And that's
- 33:13Speaker 3: where chunks of your yardage have come from so far.
- 33:16Speaker 3: Home field plus DJ Durkin could grind that to a halt.
- 33:19Speaker 3: And if you have to sustain drives, if you've got
- 33:21Speaker 3: to do 11, 12 plays a couple of times, I
- 33:23Speaker 3: don't know that you can do that. And then on
- 33:24Speaker 3: the flip side, Byron Brown, all the yardage, all the stats,
- 33:28Speaker 3: like the 4,000 yard season, stuff like that, it comes
- 33:32Speaker 3: against a level of competition. When he's faced the increased
- 33:36Speaker 3: level of competition, the production hasn't scaled. It's been really ugly.
- 33:39Speaker 3: They've actually like they beat Florida last year. It wasn't
- 33:42Speaker 3: because of offense. And so there's two ways in my
- 33:45Speaker 3: mind where these teams kind of grind to a halt.
- 33:47Speaker 3: And if I throw all of that into the same pot,
- 33:50Speaker 3: I think 53 and a half is way too high
- 33:51Speaker 3: a number.
- 33:53Speaker 2: All right, real quick. Lucy, bam. That's my go-to. Lucy
- 33:57Speaker 2: Espresso Breakers. That little bite and burst in your mouth.
- 34:00Speaker 2: Whether you need a little kick, a little uptick in focus, pre-workout, post-workout,
- 34:04Speaker 2: doesn't matter. These boys get the job done. They go
- 34:07Speaker 2: up to 12 milligrams. And the thing I love most
- 34:09Speaker 2: about this product, independently owned and American made. Not some
- 34:12Speaker 2: big tobacco company, but you can get 20% off at
- 34:15Speaker 2: lucy.co slash locker room. And use code locker room. Here
- 34:21Speaker 2: comes the fine print. Lucy products are for adults of
- 34:25Speaker 2: legal age. Every customer is age verified. Warning, this product
- 34:28Speaker 2: contains nicotine and nicotine is an addictive chemical. Back to
- 34:33Speaker 2: the episode. You got me wanting to smack the table.
- 34:36Speaker 1: Long season, long season, long season. You got me two
- 34:39Speaker 1: for Florida minus two and a half, two units? All right,
- 34:43Speaker 1: Ryan Nolan said yes.
- 34:44Speaker 3: Okay, hey.
- 34:45Speaker 2: Great move right there, by the way. Thank you, strong move.
- 34:47Speaker 2: That was a great move. Yeah, strong move. Houston at
- 34:49Speaker 2: Texas Tech. Friday. Friday night game. Texas Tech is favored
- 34:53Speaker 2: in this game by seven and a half. I want
- 34:54Speaker 2: to say the line opened at what, nine and a half? Yep.
- 34:56Speaker 2: Now it's moved down or ten and a half. The
- 34:59Speaker 2: over-under in total is 52 and a half. Guys, I'm
- 35:02Speaker 2: going to be honest. I don't know what to do
- 35:04Speaker 2: in this game. So I'm going to need one of
- 35:07Speaker 2: you to talk me into something. One of us to
- 35:09Speaker 2: say something. Maybe somebody from the stands to just yell
- 35:11Speaker 2: something at the end of their presentations to say, take this.
- 35:14Speaker 2: I don't know what to do in this game. I'm not.
- 35:17Speaker 2: I was watching their tape yesterday. Oregon State, number one.
- 35:22Speaker 2: They tested both of these. That quarterback's nice. Yeah. That quarterback,
- 35:26Speaker 2: he's nice. Number two is salty back there. I'm not.
- 35:31Speaker 2: It'll be interesting to see how they approach this game
- 35:33Speaker 2: offensively and getting Castellanos more involved in a competitive level.
- 35:39Speaker 2: Not like a complimentary, well, Hammond's our guy here and
- 35:41Speaker 2: Castellanos comes in for these situations. But I like, Hammond
- 35:45Speaker 2: doesn't have a lot of velocity on the ball. I
- 35:47Speaker 2: don't know if that has to do with him coming
- 35:49Speaker 2: back off of his ACL offensively. I'm just not in
- 35:51Speaker 2: love with what I'm seeing offensively. I wanted to sit
- 35:53Speaker 2: there and watch the tape and find the optimism that
- 35:56Speaker 2: Texas Tech is going to not turn it around, but
- 35:58Speaker 2: turn it around in the public sense of people are
- 36:00Speaker 2: kind of low on them right now. But I don't know.
- 36:04Speaker 2: I don't know what to do. I don't know what
- 36:06Speaker 2: to do and I'm conflicted because I love me some
- 36:08Speaker 2: Joey Maguire. That line was at six and a half yesterday,
- 36:11Speaker 2: was it? Yes. God, that breaks my heart because I
- 36:14Speaker 2: loved it. I love that line of six and a half.
- 36:16Speaker 2: Seven and a half is a little more nerve-wracking.
- 36:18Speaker 3: You're going to buy the point?
- 36:19Speaker 2: Yeah, he's going to buy your point. Oh, I forgot. Yeah,
- 36:21Speaker 2: I forgot we're allowed to do whatever we want. I
- 36:24Speaker 2: think you're right with Castellanos.
- 36:26Speaker 1: Castellanos, I think, needs to be more a part of
- 36:28Speaker 1: their game plan. He's a guy that just athletically, like
- 36:31Speaker 1: when you're not showing how competitive your team, or not
- 36:35Speaker 1: showing that you're above and beyond the number one team
- 36:39Speaker 1: in the Big 12, you need to have a little
- 36:41Speaker 1: bit of a spark. I think Hammond is a stud.
- 36:43Speaker 1: I think he's a great football player. But I'm not
- 36:46Speaker 1: so sure he's not, you know, he's maybe 70% coming
- 36:48Speaker 1: off that knee. You see him in the drop back.
- 36:50Speaker 1: It's a lot of, it's not a smooth drop back.
- 36:53Speaker 1: It's a lot of hopping. And when he goes to throw,
- 36:55Speaker 1: he's not pushing off that right leg a lot. And
- 36:57Speaker 1: you see it a lot of the way his passes die.
- 37:00Speaker 1: And I think Texas State needs to really establish a
- 37:03Speaker 1: run game. against Houston. I think Castellanos is the guy
- 37:06Speaker 1: to get that done. I think they have more talent
- 37:07Speaker 1: to get that done. But then the quarterback on Houston,
- 37:11Speaker 1: or the team in general, last two games, they've had
- 37:14Speaker 1: 1,100 total yards. Connor Wagman, I think he's a good
- 37:17Speaker 1: ball player. But I think for Houston to be successful
- 37:21Speaker 1: in this game, they're going to have to run it.
- 37:23Speaker 1: And Texas Tech, as bad as they've been against the past,
- 37:26Speaker 1: they've been incredible against the run. They've held teams to
- 37:29Speaker 1: 72 yards on average, 74 yards in the last two games.
- 37:32Speaker 1: I just think when Houston's going to have to throw
- 37:35Speaker 1: their way into a win here or throw them into 7.5,
- 37:37Speaker 1: it's not going to work out for them. The talent
- 37:41Speaker 1: between Houston and Texas Tech, I think, even though people
- 37:43Speaker 1: are saying the Big 12, the margin has gotten closer
- 37:46Speaker 1: for who could win. It's gone from about here to there.
- 37:49Speaker 1: There's still a wide gap, and I think it is
- 37:51Speaker 1: Texas Tech. They just haven't played the way they need
- 37:52Speaker 1: to yet. So I'm going to take Texas Tech.
- 37:54Speaker 2: Plus 7.5 here. Minus 7.5? Minus 7.5.
- 37:55Speaker 1: I'm going to give you 6.5. And I'll put four
- 38:02Speaker 1: units on that.
- 38:03Speaker 2: I'm going to buy mine. I'm going to put a
- 38:04Speaker 2: little more of my units. I like Texas tech. I
- 38:07Speaker 2: like Joey McGuire.
- 38:08Speaker 1: I think, um, the defense giving up a hundred or
- 38:10Speaker 1: 413 yards through the air against Oregon state is like
- 38:13Speaker 1: a massive wake up call for them to where they
- 38:16Speaker 1: need to play better. They bring a bunch of transfer
- 38:17Speaker 1: guys in for Jacob Rodriguez. And, um, I'm, I'm forgetting
- 38:21Speaker 1: the name, but the first round pick for the jets,
- 38:23Speaker 1: they have a lot of productivity and that's it.
- 38:25Speaker 2: David Bailey. Thank you. And that front seven, um, But
- 38:30Speaker 2: it's time to go now. Now we go. You've got
- 38:32Speaker 2: to go. You've got to go. Texas Tech does have
- 38:35Speaker 2: to go.
- 38:35Speaker 1: But I do think you bump up Castellanos' snaps. Probably
- 38:40Speaker 1: 10 or 15 extra snaps. And just to try and
- 38:43Speaker 1: get the run game going. Because you said they're going
- 38:45Speaker 1: to have to establish a run. And I'm thinking, the
- 38:47Speaker 1: stuff I've watched, are they going to be able to
- 38:49Speaker 1: establish a run game?
- 38:51Speaker 3: Texas Tech?
- 38:52Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm asking if they'll even be able to do
- 38:55Speaker 2: that without adding the piece of Castellanos.
- 38:57Speaker 3: See that number? 3.3 yards per carry against Oregon State?
- 39:03Speaker 3: It's not good enough. It's not good enough for Will
- 39:06Speaker 3: Hammond to find balance, for them to have balance in
- 39:09Speaker 3: play calling. It's not good enough. I don't think it'll
- 39:12Speaker 3: be much better Friday night. You know, you remember when
- 39:15Speaker 3: Oregon almost got beat by Boise? So they go on
- 39:18Speaker 3: the road to Oklahoma State, and everyone's sitting there thinking,
- 39:21Speaker 3: they're favored by 24 and a half. Yeah, that makes sense.
- 39:24Speaker 3: They'll get their act together this week. And they didn't.
- 39:26Speaker 3: They got beat. I know what, you know, the history,
- 39:30Speaker 3: says is supposed to happen in this spot. History says
- 39:33Speaker 3: Texas Tech slowly getting their act together. They had the
- 39:36Speaker 3: Sorsby stuff. It's Will Hammond at quarterback now. It's a
- 39:39Speaker 3: new cast of characters. They're figuring things out against outmanned
- 39:44Speaker 3: opponents week one and week two. But week three, conference
- 39:46Speaker 3: play begins. Houston in there on a Friday night. That's
- 39:49Speaker 3: when it'll come together. Maybe it will, but I actually
- 39:54Speaker 3: agree that Castellanos has probably got to be a bigger
- 39:57Speaker 3: part of this game plan because I think there is
- 40:00Speaker 3: a chance that they get bogged down offensively because they
- 40:03Speaker 3: certainly play a high enough caliber opponent this week to where,
- 40:06Speaker 3: I mean, if you're not moving it, you either count
- 40:09Speaker 3: on one of two things. You either change it up
- 40:10Speaker 3: at quarterback, give them a different element to look at,
- 40:13Speaker 3: or you just take the game over defensively. Last year's
- 40:16Speaker 3: Texas Tech team could just take games over defensively. Think
- 40:19Speaker 3: about the Brigham Young game. They didn't move the ball
- 40:21Speaker 3: worth anything against Brigham Young, but they smoked them defensively,
- 40:24Speaker 3: dominated defensively. This team is 63rd in havoc rate so
- 40:27Speaker 3: far this year. So they are probably not the caliber
- 40:30Speaker 3: of defense that we saw. I know Joey believes that
- 40:32Speaker 3: they have the personnel. They've certainly got the experience level,
- 40:35Speaker 3: the total snaps played, but Houston can pressure you too.
- 40:39Speaker 3: So if you can't run the ball on them and
- 40:41Speaker 3: they're able to get after Hammond, and Hammond is far
- 40:44Speaker 3: more you know, a still threat than Wegman is. At
- 40:47Speaker 3: least Wegman can move. At least he can improvise and
- 40:49Speaker 3: make some plays with his legs. I think that number
- 40:52Speaker 3: is based on preseason expectation a lot more than what
- 40:55Speaker 3: you've seen. Because it's kind of weird that they're playing
- 40:56Speaker 3: in week three, but they've already got a common opponent
- 40:59Speaker 3: and it's Oregon State of all teams. But if you
- 41:01Speaker 3: look at what these two teams did, just lined up
- 41:03Speaker 3: against Oregon State, at every turn, Houston's the better looking team.
- 41:08Speaker 3: Oregon State covered against both of them, by the way.
- 41:10Speaker 3: But Houston's the better looking team. So I'm going to
- 41:12Speaker 3: be on the opposite side. I'll take Houston plus the points.
- 41:15Speaker 3: I think there's a reasonable shot they win the game outright.
- 41:18Speaker 3: But I do think Texas Tech may find a way
- 41:21Speaker 3: to win it. But I think it's a really tight game.
- 41:23Speaker 3: And if they don't win it, then think about what
- 41:26Speaker 3: that does to the Big 12 picture. Houston wins that.
- 41:30Speaker 3: Because Utah looked incredible last week. Brigham Young looked really
- 41:34Speaker 3: good against Arizona last week. Houston, if they win this game,
- 41:38Speaker 3: will have looked good. Oklahoma State just took down Oregon.
- 41:41Speaker 3: Kenny Dillingham's hanging out in London somewhere this week, and
- 41:44Speaker 3: they've got a conference game against Kansas. Who knows what
- 41:46Speaker 3: the Big 12 is? So give me Houston.
- 41:48Speaker 2: You left one out. Kansas State. Yeah. I sleep on
- 41:50Speaker 2: Kansas State.
- 41:51Speaker 3: Don't sleep on them. There's one thing I'm always guilty of.
- 41:53Speaker 3: It's accidentally leaving out Kansas State.
- 41:55Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 41:56Speaker 3: Where no one's perfect. I'm going to put two units
- 41:58Speaker 3: on this, Houston plus seven and a half.
- 41:59Speaker 1: Well, the way you spoke was like a five slap
- 42:01Speaker 1: on the table.
- 42:02Speaker 2: Hey, I'll say this too. And as just the third
- 42:04Speaker 2: party here waiting on which one, who's going to talk
- 42:07Speaker 2: me into what? As far as the debate goes, like
- 42:08Speaker 2: I'm going Houston plus seven and a half. I don't
- 42:11Speaker 2: know why, but that's what I'm taking. Yeah.
- 42:12Speaker 1: Because that was poetic. It was poetic, but then he
- 42:14Speaker 1: finishes it up with two. He spoke so confidently and
- 42:19Speaker 1: then I was like, I'll go two units on that.
- 42:20Speaker 2: I'll go one unit. My confidence level is still low,
- 42:26Speaker 2: but it's an emotional part of me that wants Texas
- 42:28Speaker 2: Tech to get it turned around.
- 42:29Speaker 3: You know what it is.
- 42:29Speaker 2: I'm going to be aware of that. It's also like
- 42:32Speaker 2: the run game does need to be better. I think
- 42:33Speaker 2: that's where Castellanos is a massive help. You add one
- 42:36Speaker 2: in the blocker, he's very dynamic. And they're using him
- 42:40Speaker 2: in a gimmicky, wildcat way, even though he is a quarterback.
- 42:44Speaker 2: But I think if he takes steps, you put the
- 42:46Speaker 2: game on against Alabama last year and he was at
- 42:47Speaker 2: Florida State. get him outside the pocket, allow him to
- 42:50Speaker 2: have one or two reads, then run the ball. You
- 42:53Speaker 2: can take over the game that way because Texas Tech
- 42:56Speaker 2: is going to make them one-dimensional.
- 42:57Speaker 3: That's why I'm only two units.
- 42:58Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 42:59Speaker 3: I don't know what his presence would mean in the game.
- 43:02Speaker 2: And going one unit on Wegman, it's like, I can't
- 43:05Speaker 2: trust Wegman at all.
- 43:06Speaker 3: You've been in my life like seven years now. I
- 43:08Speaker 3: don't know what to expect from you.
- 43:11Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 43:12Speaker 3: Do you think Houston, if you're a Houston defensive staffer,
- 43:16Speaker 3: How much do you think you expect Castellanos to play?
- 43:20Speaker 1: I think you have a whole period during the week
- 43:23Speaker 1: dedicated to the Wildcat. Because they're not just doing Castellanos,
- 43:26Speaker 1: they're doing the running backs as well. Just Castellanos happens
- 43:28Speaker 1: to be put out the slot and they have the
- 43:30Speaker 1: running back at the quarterback position.
- 43:31Speaker 2: And you're grabbing some cards off the things he did
- 43:33Speaker 2: best in the run game last year at Florida State.
- 43:35Speaker 1: I just think, dude, the talent level and them having like, hey,
- 43:39Speaker 1: you're down in the fourth. We had to get it
- 43:41Speaker 1: done against what's supposed to be an inferior opponent at
- 43:43Speaker 1: their place. There's a lot of wake-up calls that take place,
- 43:47Speaker 1: especially when you walk in the building where they're in
- 43:48Speaker 1: the springtime because there's an emotional element to Texas Tech, but.
- 43:52Speaker 2: They have the talent.
- 43:53Speaker 1: They have the five stars, the athletes, and it's like
- 43:57Speaker 1: that's a perfect game to go, hey, we got out
- 43:59Speaker 1: of that one, but we need to realize if we're
- 44:01Speaker 1: going to be the team people expect us to be,
- 44:03Speaker 1: we can't just walk in, put the jersey on, and go.
- 44:05Speaker 2: And unfortunately, Houston's the next one after that.
- 44:08Speaker 3: This is the exact same line that we had for
- 44:11Speaker 3: BYU versus Arizona last week.
- 44:13Speaker 2: It is, and I bet.
- 44:15Speaker 3: And that final, they bring me uncovered. They won by
- 44:18Speaker 3: like 11, right?
- 44:18Speaker 2: Something like that. It was, yeah.
- 44:20Speaker 1: Arizona was in it the whole game.
- 44:21Speaker 3: Yeah. This may be like that. I just think maybe, uh, Houston,
- 44:26Speaker 3: Texas tech margin, maybe a little bit closer.
- 44:27Speaker 2: It would mean so much to college football. Let's go.
- 44:30Speaker 2: I want to go under.
- 44:32Speaker 3: Wow.
- 44:32Speaker 2: Yeah. I'm thinking if Castellanos gets more involved, it completely
- 44:36Speaker 2: like changes their approach offensively. Um, And again, my thoughts
- 44:42Speaker 2: on Wegman. I think Texas Tech's defense, I think they're fine.
- 44:44Speaker 2: I don't think they're going to be as explosive as
- 44:46Speaker 2: they were last year, chaotic. But I do think the
- 44:49Speaker 2: pieces that they do have, like watching them, they'll get
- 44:51Speaker 2: their shit figured out. Some of it's MA stuff, missed assignments.
- 44:54Speaker 2: I think they'll get it figured out. But if Castellanos
- 44:56Speaker 2: is going to be in the game more, I think
- 44:58Speaker 2: it changes their– it obviously changes the dynamic of how
- 45:00Speaker 2: they move offensively. And if they keep what they have going–
- 45:04Speaker 2: I'm just not high on Hammond right now. Not high
- 45:06Speaker 2: on Hammond right now.
- 45:07Speaker 3: How many units?
- 45:08Speaker 2: One unit.
- 45:08Speaker 3: One unit.
- 45:09Speaker 2: Still very... Yeah, this game's on the list, but you're not. Yeah,
- 45:13Speaker 2: the viewer at home has just watched this entire segment. Like,
- 45:16Speaker 2: I'm not confident on this game. Yeah, you started with that.
- 45:19Speaker 2: So if they think anything other than that, then shame
- 45:21Speaker 2: on them. Yeah. Let's get to the next game.
- 45:23Speaker 3: All right, here we go.
- 45:25Speaker 2: What is the next game? Here it is right here.
- 45:30Speaker 2: All right, SMU at Louisville.
- 45:31Speaker 1: Right now, Louisville is favored by 1.5 points. Total in
- 45:34Speaker 1: that game is 59.5. Are you confident in this one?
- 45:40Speaker 2: Over. Nice. Josh Pate, what do you think?
- 45:43Speaker 3: Great breakdown.
- 45:45Speaker 2: Over.
- 45:45Speaker 3: Great breakdown.
- 45:46Speaker 2: Okay, so these defenses are weak where these quarterbacks live,
- 45:52Speaker 2: and that's in explosive plays. Like, you look at what
- 45:55Speaker 2: Jennings has done, he's number one in the country when
- 45:57Speaker 2: it comes to 50-yard completions, and that is by design. Like, Lashley,
- 46:02Speaker 2: he's built on tempo and explosives. And when you look
- 46:05Speaker 2: at Louisville's defense, they're, what, tied for second in the
- 46:08Speaker 2: worst team in the country as far as giving up
- 46:10Speaker 2: explosive plays, like over 50-yard completions. I love Kynholtz. I
- 46:14Speaker 2: think Kynholtz is a better finisher than Ashton Daniels was
- 46:17Speaker 2: at Florida State. Because even if you look at what
- 46:20Speaker 2: Louisville does well, that's running the football well. Like you
- 46:22Speaker 2: witnessed on Florida State, they ran the ball 45 times
- 46:25Speaker 2: for 200 yards. But SMU still went over 400 through
- 46:29Speaker 2: the air and won that game. Knowing that Kynholtz is
- 46:33Speaker 2: a better closer than Ashton Daniels, I think this is
- 46:34Speaker 2: going to be an awesome game. I do think it's
- 46:36Speaker 2: going to be an explosive game. If you're Braum or
- 46:38Speaker 2: you're Louisville, you might be thinking, how do you slow
- 46:40Speaker 2: this game down to keep Jennings and SMU, that offense,
- 46:44Speaker 2: off the field? But as far as tempo and explosives go,
- 46:47Speaker 2: all you have to do is give up a couple
- 46:48Speaker 2: chunk plays and you're in a track meet whether you
- 46:50Speaker 2: like it or not. Louisville does have a team to
- 46:52Speaker 2: compete in the track meet because they've been stress tested,
- 46:55Speaker 2: pressure tested against Ole Miss a couple weeks ago. I
- 46:57Speaker 2: like the over in this game. I think both quarterbacks
- 47:00Speaker 2: are phenomenal. And if I'm trying to hang my hat
- 47:02Speaker 2: on which defense, which secondary is going to show up,
- 47:05Speaker 2: they haven't shown it on tape that they could stop
- 47:07Speaker 2: big plays. So I like the over in this game.
- 47:11Speaker 2: Very slight lean towards Louisville here for me. I'm going
- 47:14Speaker 2: to put one unit on Louisville minus one and a half.
- 47:18Speaker 2: I think you may very well be on to something
- 47:20Speaker 2: with the over. Now, the stat profile for Louisville is
- 47:23Speaker 2: heavily skewed because they're one of only two teams that
- 47:26Speaker 2: have faced Trinidad Chambliss so far.
- 47:28Speaker 3: So that's baked in there. But I do think it's valid.
- 47:31Speaker 3: The way you're breaking them down is valid. To me,
- 47:35Speaker 3: this is kind of a simplistic game. This is one
- 47:37Speaker 3: of those where you remember back when the Patriots used
- 47:39Speaker 3: to play the Colts and everyone would just say, oh, man,
- 47:41Speaker 3: it's Peyton versus Brady. It's Peyton versus Brady. That's not
- 47:44Speaker 3: the matchup. They're not on the field at the same time. However,
- 47:48Speaker 3: sometimes if you think you have a similar caliber defensive
- 47:52Speaker 3: unit on the field, it really kind of comes down
- 47:54Speaker 3: to which quarterback do I trust the most. I like
- 47:56Speaker 3: both of them. Granted, I hadn't gotten to see Lincoln
- 47:59Speaker 3: Kindholz as much as I've been able to see the
- 48:01Speaker 3: other guy, but the other guy, Kevin Jennings, has turned
- 48:04Speaker 3: the ball over and he's got a propensity for it.
- 48:07Speaker 3: And he did it against Florida State in week one.
- 48:08Speaker 3: That game should have been a blowout. And instead, it's
- 48:11Speaker 3: a three-point game, still covered two and a half, but
- 48:13Speaker 3: a three-point game because you kept turning the ball over
- 48:15Speaker 3: and keeping a really bad team in a game. You
- 48:18Speaker 3: do that against Louisville, Louisville's not a bad team. And
- 48:21Speaker 3: Louisville's already in desperation mode because they got beat, whereas
- 48:24Speaker 3: you haven't had to pay the price for your mistakes yet.
- 48:27Speaker 3: And so I like Louisville at home taking this one unit.
- 48:31Speaker 3: I think it's going to be high scoring, a lot
- 48:33Speaker 3: of variance in it, but I'll lay the one and
- 48:34Speaker 3: a half for one unit with Louisville.
- 48:36Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 48:36Speaker 1: Jeff Brom, when he was at his press conference on Monday,
- 48:39Speaker 1: the first question they asked him was about Kevin Jennings.
- 48:42Speaker 1: He answered the question, In full detail, about a minute
- 48:46Speaker 1: and a half on it. The next five questions they
- 48:48Speaker 1: asked had nothing to do with Kevin Jennings, and Jeff
- 48:50Speaker 1: Brom decided to turn it back to Kevin Jennings. So
- 48:53Speaker 1: they understand what killed them last year. They know what
- 48:56Speaker 1: they have to do. I think a huge benefit to
- 48:58Speaker 1: Louisville is playing against Trinidad-Chambers and Ole Miss in Week 1.
- 49:02Speaker 2: They brought up the.
- 49:03Speaker 1: X-Plays explosives given up by the defense, and you alluded
- 49:06Speaker 1: to it. It's like if you play Trinidad-Chambers and Ole
- 49:09Speaker 1: Miss in the first two games, you're probably going to
- 49:11Speaker 1: be in the back end of those explosives. the biggest
- 49:13Speaker 1: question mark going into season four, Louisville, wasn't the defense.
- 49:16Speaker 1: And if we look at what Ole Miss was able
- 49:18Speaker 1: to do against Louisville, people are going to see the
- 49:21Speaker 1: explosive plays and the amount of points they put on
- 49:23Speaker 1: the board, but what they're not going to really look
- 49:24Speaker 1: at is how the back end was able to run
- 49:27Speaker 1: with some of those elite wide receivers, how fast that
- 49:30Speaker 1: front seven was, and how aggressive that defensive front was
- 49:34Speaker 1: against an offensive line that is a, quote, SEC offensive
- 49:37Speaker 1: line still figuring themselves out to the point where Ole
- 49:39Speaker 1: Miss had to use max protection to get their receivers
- 49:42Speaker 1: down the field for training to have a chance late
- 49:44Speaker 1: in that game when they're in an absolute shootout. Then
- 49:46Speaker 1: there's Kahnholz who throws 24 passes his whole entire career.
- 49:50Speaker 1: He's at Ohio State. He loses the job to Julian Sand,
- 49:53Speaker 1: which we've figured out why he lost that job.
- 49:56Speaker 2: He can throw the ball. He can run it.
- 49:58Speaker 1: I think they have many more ways to attack SMU
- 50:02Speaker 1: than SMU has to attack Louisville. And so when I
- 50:06Speaker 1: look at it, it's like, yeah, you have a tall
- 50:08Speaker 1: order here by– Not only getting to Jennings, but also
- 50:12Speaker 1: bringing him down because he has that escapability and the
- 50:14Speaker 1: ability to throw it down the field. I just like
- 50:17Speaker 1: the athletes on both sides more. I like Kine Holtz
- 50:19Speaker 1: in this position. I like it being at home for Louisville.
- 50:22Speaker 1: I like Louisville minus one and a half, and I
- 50:24Speaker 1: like it at four units. I feel really good about
- 50:30Speaker 1: this team. This is a big get back here for them.
- 50:32Speaker 1: They got embarrassed last year when these two teams played.
- 50:34Speaker 1: This is basically whoever wins this is like, you know,
- 50:38Speaker 1: it's Miami than them. And so there's a lot riding
- 50:41Speaker 1: on this. And Louisville last year, they returned a lot
- 50:44Speaker 1: of production on the defensive side of the ball, and
- 50:46Speaker 1: they were top 25 in both categories run and pass.
- 50:48Speaker 1: So it's like, all of those numbers are very skewed
- 50:52Speaker 1: to me because Ole Miss is such a good football team.
- 50:55Speaker 1: And Trinidad-Chambers is such a good football player. And what
- 50:57Speaker 1: Lane Kempin was, they have two Heisman candidates in the backfield.
- 51:01Speaker 1: So I like Louisville here. I like Louisville a lot.
- 51:04Speaker 1: Louisville wins this game too.
- 51:07Speaker 2: They are in a pressure moment as far as kind
- 51:09Speaker 2: of back against the wall, but you take care of
- 51:11Speaker 2: this game. Who else do you really have? Right. Not
- 51:14Speaker 2: sleeping on everybody in the ACC, kind of sleeping on them.
- 51:16Speaker 2: You go ahead and go to sleep.
- 51:17Speaker 3: It's fine.
- 51:18Speaker 2: We're trying to do the Big 12 and now you're
- 51:19Speaker 2: taking Houston.
- 51:20Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah, well, here's what I want to know. How
- 51:23Speaker 3: much grass could be on the ground around this building?
- 51:25Speaker 3: Because they've been blowing for a solid 45 minutes out there.
- 51:30Speaker 3: And number two is, you know, there's so much hypocrisy.
- 51:36Speaker 3: in how I'll feel watching this game because you're on
- 51:39Speaker 3: the over. You're on the same side I'm on, but
- 51:42Speaker 3: for four units. So it's actually in my best interest
- 51:45Speaker 3: to lose this game and even have Louisville get shut
- 51:48Speaker 3: out and have SMU win like 30 to nothing. And
- 51:51Speaker 3: that's not a fun place to be.
- 51:53Speaker 2: Yeah. It's a game, man. It's the game we play.
- 51:55Speaker 2: You're going to move it up to four units?
- 51:57Speaker 1: No.
- 51:57Speaker 2: You're playing a big match. I'll go to three if
- 51:59Speaker 2: you go to three. Then we can just be even.
- 52:01Speaker 2: Then we can both root for the same thing.
- 52:03Speaker 3: Should we do that?
- 52:04Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm asking you the question.
- 52:05Speaker 3: Because he just goes on to win like 35-31. That's
- 52:08Speaker 3: what ends up happening. I'll do it. I'll meet you
- 52:10Speaker 3: at three. That's fine.
- 52:11Speaker 2: Can I say my units on this game? I'll do two. Two. Oh,
- 52:16Speaker 2: you're doing the over. I like that as well. I
- 52:19Speaker 2: like the over here too. There's going to be a
- 52:21Speaker 2: lot of explosive things. You're starting to talk me into
- 52:23Speaker 2: some Louisville defense. I've got to stay where I'm at.
- 52:26Speaker 2: If you look at their schedule and look at Ole Miss,
- 52:28Speaker 2: it's like, okay. You throw those little stats out the window.
- 52:31Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 52:31Speaker 2: Trade-ins just like that, dude. Which one do we have next?
- 52:36Speaker 2: We have Cock Nation. Oh, my God. I've been waiting
- 52:38Speaker 2: for this one. Cocktember. Cocktember. Cocktember. I've been waiting for
- 52:43Speaker 2: this one. Sneaky funnest game of the week. And I'm
- 52:47Speaker 2: excited to see where Josh goes because we saw on
- 52:49Speaker 2: week one where we were Auburn. Auburn felt like the play,
- 52:54Speaker 2: but there was somebody in this shop– that you loved,
- 52:58Speaker 2: that you wanted to back no matter what.
- 53:00Speaker 3: Slap the table for them.
- 53:01Speaker 2: Slap the table for Sherman Young. We have another one,
- 53:05Speaker 2: an even stronger, this is even more of a diehard
- 53:07Speaker 2: fan than Sherman Young. And I'm not saying Sherman Young
- 53:09Speaker 2: is not a fan of Baylor. I'm just saying JP Hovey,
- 53:11Speaker 2: when you talk about the South Carolina Gamecocks, like he
- 53:14Speaker 2: is the South Carolina Gamecocks.
- 53:16Speaker 1: You never question where JP's heart lies. There was a
- 53:20Speaker 1: season there where it was like, who is Sherman a
- 53:23Speaker 1: fan of? Because he's kind of just talking about every
- 53:25Speaker 1: Texas team.
- 53:26Speaker 2: Yeah. And then Alabama came into full because his mom
- 53:29Speaker 2: went there. Yeah. Which was nuts. Yeah.
- 53:31Speaker 1: There was a trying time for him.
- 53:34Speaker 2: What is it, three and a half?
- 53:36Speaker 1: Mississippi, South Carolina's favorite three and a half total points
- 53:39Speaker 1: in that game.
- 53:39Speaker 2: I can't read that. Is it 58 and a half points? Yeah,
- 53:41Speaker 2: 58 and a half is the over-under.
- 53:42Speaker 6: I can't wait to see what Josh does.
- 53:44Speaker 2: I can't either, because I don't know, even when he
- 53:48Speaker 2: went Baylor and slapped the table for Sherm, I'm like,
- 53:51Speaker 2: was Sherm in his live chat that week during Josh
- 53:53Speaker 2: Pate's show? I know JP shows up.
- 53:56Speaker 5: History tells me Josh is going to bury me. And
- 54:02Speaker 5: that head scratch is telling me the same thing.
- 54:06Speaker 2: You know what I thought happened with you?
- 54:07Speaker 6: Do it, Josh.
- 54:11Speaker 1: You had that DJ lightweight take that you refused to
- 54:14Speaker 1: give up on.
- 54:15Speaker 2: Are you still on that, by the way?
- 54:16Speaker 3: It paid off for me.
- 54:17Speaker 2: Okay.
- 54:18Speaker 1: And then you locked eyes with Sherm at one point
- 54:20Speaker 1: during you talking about the game. And that's how you
- 54:23Speaker 1: got to that point.
- 54:23Speaker 3: Are you noticing that I have not looked at JP yet?
- 54:26Speaker 3: Are you reading a lot into that?
- 54:27Speaker 1: I've tried to not look at you until I spoke.
- 54:29Speaker 1: Because I'm noticed for JP. So I'm kind of just
- 54:31Speaker 1: trying to stay. I'm looking at Klump, dude.
- 54:33Speaker 3: I hate what I've got to do. I hate what
- 54:37Speaker 3: I've got to do.
- 54:38Speaker 6: Double table slap.
- 54:39Speaker 2: Man, it's more important. Are you double slapping?
- 54:41Speaker 3: It's more important to be right than be friends. That's
- 54:44Speaker 3: the most important thing in the world.
- 54:45Speaker 6: Revealing.
- 54:49Speaker 3: If you want to be confident racking up chunk plays
- 54:53Speaker 3: against Towson and Kent State, that's fine. That's absolutely fine.
- 54:57Speaker 3: Do we have a head coach whose reputation is essentially
- 55:00Speaker 3: on the line here? And Shane Beamer? Yes, it is.
- 55:03Speaker 3: Do we have a home field environment that I respect
- 55:07Speaker 3: equal to, nay, more maybe than any of the places
- 55:10Speaker 3: in the country that get all the hype? Yes, we do.
- 55:13Speaker 3: Cockpit's going to be on fire. 415 kickoff Eastern time, 93,
- 55:16Speaker 3: 94 at kickoff.
- 55:18Speaker 6: Perfect.
- 55:21Speaker 3: Here's the problem. The problem is Mississippi State's better than
- 55:27Speaker 3: South Carolina. And I think the wrong team's favored. I
- 55:32Speaker 3: trust Kamario Taylor more than I trust Lenora Sellers supporting
- 55:37Speaker 3: cast because I think they'll hang him out to dry
- 55:40Speaker 3: again this week because I don't trust him on the
- 55:42Speaker 3: perimeter at all. I don't trust his wide receivers to
- 55:45Speaker 3: work for him. I love not only the speed that
- 55:49Speaker 3: Mississippi State has at receiver. I just flat out love
- 55:51Speaker 3: what Kamario Taylor's doing in the passing game. Like people
- 55:54Speaker 3: are looking at his stat line. I guarantee you a
- 55:57Speaker 3: lot of America still has not watched them because they've
- 55:59Speaker 3: played a no-name team and they played Minnesota. You've watched him.
- 56:04Speaker 2: Right?
- 56:05Speaker 3: You've watched him, right?
- 56:06Speaker 2: I was very wrong about him.
- 56:07Speaker 3: Are these dumping passes off in the flat, bunch of
- 56:10Speaker 3: yards after catch?
- 56:11Speaker 2: He's not doing that.
- 56:11Speaker 3: No, what are you seeing when you pop on?
- 56:13Speaker 2: I'm seeing him throw bombs over Baghdad, dude. He's a superstar.
- 56:16Speaker 2: He's a superstar. He is.
- 56:19Speaker 3: So there's continuity, there's consistency, there's the ability to continue
- 56:23Speaker 3: copy-paste this week over week. I don't trust South Carolina
- 56:27Speaker 3: to have standard drive success. Like when you watch them
- 56:29Speaker 3: against Towson and Kent, it's gross, gross, boom, 50 yards.
- 56:34Speaker 3: It's just we outman you and eventually we'll take over.
- 56:37Speaker 3: I don't like them at receiver at all. I don't
- 56:39Speaker 3: know that I can trust them on the lines of scrimmage,
- 56:41Speaker 3: and I do trust Kamario Taylor to be able to
- 56:43Speaker 3: take over a game, but it's not a one-man team.
- 56:46Speaker 3: They're really good at tailback as well. Mississippi State is.
- 56:49Speaker 3: I love just the overall speed they have out wide,
- 56:52Speaker 3: and there are too many holes to plug if you're
- 56:55Speaker 3: South Carolina. J.P. Pohl, not the J.P. Hovey Pohl, but
- 57:00Speaker 3: the J.P. Pohl has South Carolina power rated top 25.
- 57:04Speaker 3: Over Nebraska, over Michigan. I simply don't believe that. I
- 57:07Speaker 3: think the model's drunk right now. But I think it'll
- 57:09Speaker 3: correct itself this week when it finds out the wrong
- 57:11Speaker 3: team was favored. So I'm going to take Mississippi State
- 57:13Speaker 3: plus three and a half for four units.
- 57:16Speaker 2: Why don't you take a money line?
- 57:16Speaker 3: Yeah, why are you going money line? I did in
- 57:18Speaker 3: my own personal life. Because I would love the way
- 57:23Speaker 3: you just spoke.
- 57:24Speaker 2: All that talk. All that talk. That's the second time
- 57:27Speaker 2: on this show he's done it. Stares us in the eyes.
- 57:30Speaker 2: Talks so confidently.
- 57:31Speaker 1: We're like, holy shit, I feel so bad because he's
- 57:33Speaker 1: literally just taking rounds and shooting him in JP's.
- 57:36Speaker 2: Chest over and over again.
- 57:37Speaker 1: And then he goes, I'll take the points.
- 57:40Speaker 3: Can I tell you why?
- 57:40Speaker 2: Everybody listening in the car right now, sitting at home
- 57:42Speaker 2: watching on the screen, like, man, I need to turn
- 57:44Speaker 2: on some Mississippi State film. Yeah, holy shit, we don't
- 57:46Speaker 2: know about Kamaru Taylor. You just go plus three and
- 57:48Speaker 2: a half. Who's Kamaru Taylor?
- 57:49Speaker 3: Body language. I want to face him when I say this.
- 57:52Speaker 3: You know what I would love? I would love for
- 57:55Speaker 3: South Carolina to win the game by three.
- 57:57Speaker 6: That's love.
- 57:58Speaker 3: That's what I want to bake in as a possibility.
- 58:02Speaker 6: That's love.
- 58:03Speaker 2: Is that supposed to carry any weight? He just slapped you. Yeah,
- 58:08Speaker 2: his crowbar theory. He took the crowbar and just beat
- 58:10Speaker 2: you in the face with it.
- 58:12Speaker 3: Cut his leg off and put a tourniquet on. That's
- 58:13Speaker 3: what I did.
- 58:15Speaker 2: Maxed out your credit card. Jeffy, how good do you.
- 58:17Speaker 3: Feel about this game?
- 58:18Speaker 6: I feel amazing about this game.
- 58:20Speaker 3: Like actually winning it? You feel amazing about winning it
- 58:23Speaker 3: or that the game's going to happen?
- 58:25Speaker 2: Both.
- 58:26Speaker 5: I feel amazing about winning it because ultimately, I know
- 58:30Speaker 5: the Camario-Taylor-Lenore-Sellers matchup is what everybody's talking about. To me,
- 58:34Speaker 5: it's really Bryles versus Mississippi State's D.C., which, what's his name?
- 58:40Speaker 3: Zachary Nutt.
- 58:40Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 58:41Speaker 6: Great D.C. I trust our defense more than anything.
- 58:45Speaker 5: They've proven the last three, four years that they can
- 58:48Speaker 5: play against Any single team.
- 58:50Speaker 3: I see your eyes getting wide. You said anything.
- 58:52Speaker 5: Dude, our defense shows up against all of the best
- 58:55Speaker 5: teams and teams a lot better than this Mississippi State team.
- 58:59Speaker 5: At the end of the day, Mississippi State does have
- 59:00Speaker 5: holes on their team and they haven't played anybody.
- 59:04Speaker 6: To expose them. And we've got guys to expose them. Receiver,
- 59:07Speaker 6: I agree. We need somebody to step up.
- 59:09Speaker 2: Anybody.
- 59:10Speaker 6: Anybody and what a game to step up.
- 59:12Speaker 3: This is it.
- 59:15Speaker 2: I love it i wish i had i'm rocking with
- 59:17Speaker 2: you jp yeah i like south carolina minus three and
- 59:19Speaker 2: a half i think lenore sellers is going to be
- 59:21Speaker 2: the best player on the field on saturday he will
- 59:23Speaker 2: be I say that with a confidence level one, but
- 59:26Speaker 2: I do believe he'll be the best player. Jay-Z's just
- 59:28Speaker 2: getting slapped around. I'm rocking with you, bro. Wait up
- 59:33Speaker 2: this episode to give you some Jack Daniels.
- 59:35Speaker 1: Whether I'm at a tailgate or on the couch watching
- 59:37Speaker 1: Michigan on Saturday, Jack Daniels is a staple on my
- 59:40Speaker 1: game day roster. They got a flavor for every type
- 59:42Speaker 1: of fan. You got the cinnamon kick of Jack Fire,
- 59:45Speaker 1: the smooth taste of Jack Honey, the crisp and refreshing
- 59:48Speaker 1: Jack Apple. and the only BlackBerry bursting with Jack. Personally,
- 59:52Speaker 1: I'm a Jack Honey type of guy. Bold calls on
- 59:55Speaker 1: the field and in your glass, there's a Jack for
- 59:58Speaker 1: every football fan. Let's get back to this episode.
- 1:00:01Speaker 2: Hey, fun fact on this game. Lebby, head coach for
- 1:00:09Speaker 2: Mississippi State. Bryles, the OC for South Carolina. They're brother-in-laws. Really? Lebby.
- 1:00:17Speaker 2: He married Bryles' sister. So there's a lot of personal. Yeah,
- 1:00:23Speaker 2: there's a lot of personal bragging rights on this game.
- 1:00:27Speaker 2: Let me took his sister, man.
- 1:00:28Speaker 3: Took her.
- 1:00:30Speaker 2: Took his sister, man. Gotta get this to the facility. Yeah.
- 1:00:34Speaker 2: This is a fun fact on the game. But JP,
- 1:00:37Speaker 2: I'm rocking with you. Now, what the hell is Dylan
- 1:00:40Speaker 2: Stewart going to play? No. I need Dylan Stewart playing.
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: Dylan Stewart's not playing and their left tackle's also not playing.
- 1:00:46Speaker 2: No, I think it's trending up with him.
- 1:00:48Speaker 6: Yeah, trending up with left tackle, but Dylan Stewart, I
- 1:00:51Speaker 6: don't know.
- 1:00:52Speaker 2: Are we going to sleep on Shane Beamer? Are we
- 1:00:53Speaker 2: giving up on Shane Beamer right now? I love Shane Beamer.
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: I love Shane Beamer.
- 1:00:56Speaker 2: Mississippi State, you're right. Kamaru Taylor, absolute superstar. I fucking
- 1:00:59Speaker 2: love this dude. I love this quarterback. But fifth start?
- 1:01:03Speaker 2: Fifth career start? Going into Williams-Brice's stadium?
- 1:01:07Speaker 3: Williams-Brice's stadium is going to be crazy. It's going to
- 1:01:10Speaker 3: be crazy.
- 1:01:11Speaker 2: Williams-Brice's stadium, the cockpit? It's going to be loud. I
- 1:01:14Speaker 2: like the line of scrimmage. I love 17, the linebacker.
- 1:01:16Speaker 2: Number 17 for South Carolina. When I watch a Mississippi
- 1:01:20Speaker 2: State's film, I think you have obviously two game weeks,
- 1:01:24Speaker 2: but I feel like enough is there to where it's
- 1:01:28Speaker 2: really simplified. They simplify it for Kamaru Taylor. It's like
- 1:01:31Speaker 2: receivers are outside the numbers. It's a lot of easy
- 1:01:34Speaker 2: RPO scheme for them to where if you're South Carolina,
- 1:01:37Speaker 2: defensively going into this game, game planning it, There's not
- 1:01:41Speaker 2: a lot you have to do other than keep your
- 1:01:43Speaker 2: eyes on your work and don't fall asleep out on
- 1:01:45Speaker 2: the perimeter. Because he's got the velocity on the ball
- 1:01:47Speaker 2: to where he can get it out there quick if
- 1:01:48Speaker 2: there's enough space. They do have a lot of speed,
- 1:01:51Speaker 2: but it's not like, it's very simple. The run game's simple.
- 1:01:54Speaker 2: Anytime you get a Y off in the backfield, you're
- 1:01:57Speaker 2: thinking the RPO. Maybe a play action, deep. Anytime a
- 1:02:01Speaker 2: receiver or a tight end, they motion behind the line
- 1:02:03Speaker 2: of scrimmage, it's 90 plus percent run. Anytime they're taking
- 1:02:07Speaker 2: off before they even get to the line of scrimmage,
- 1:02:08Speaker 2: it's a pass play. It's keep your eyes on your work,
- 1:02:11Speaker 2: do your job, and stop the run. Because you're going
- 1:02:14Speaker 2: to have the guys out on the perimeter, and it's
- 1:02:16Speaker 2: like take care of the box. Minnesota did a poor
- 1:02:18Speaker 2: job of tackling the ball carrier for Mississippi State. Mississippi
- 1:02:21Speaker 2: State offensive line ate that defensive line up, moving them
- 1:02:24Speaker 2: out of gaps. Mississippi State kind of bullied them. But
- 1:02:27Speaker 2: if you watch the second half of the Minnesota game,
- 1:02:30Speaker 2: Minnesota was out playing them for the majority of the
- 1:02:33Speaker 2: third quarter before they didn't get their fourth down play
- 1:02:35Speaker 2: at the goal line. They go in, they have a
- 1:02:37Speaker 2: long drive, kick a field goal. It's 31-13. They get
- 1:02:40Speaker 2: the ball back. Mississippi State goes three and out. Minnesota
- 1:02:44Speaker 2: drives all the way down the field again. It's fourth
- 1:02:46Speaker 2: and three. They end up going for it instead of
- 1:02:47Speaker 2: kicking a field goal, knowing that your two scores down.
- 1:02:50Speaker 2: They just don't get the field goal. Mississippi State scores
- 1:02:52Speaker 2: one more touchdown. The game's pretty much boring and over
- 1:02:54Speaker 2: from there. And that's against a pro-style quarterback too. Like
- 1:02:57Speaker 2: I think Lenore Sellers browsing this RPO game, they're going
- 1:03:00Speaker 2: to see a wrinkle. Mississippi State defensively is going to
- 1:03:02Speaker 2: see a wrinkle that they just haven't seen at this
- 1:03:04Speaker 2: level of athlete. And again, it's like Lenore Sellers, I
- 1:03:08Speaker 2: need him to dial in his accuracy, but I'm hedging
- 1:03:11Speaker 2: on that they had a, what was it, 90-minute rain delay? Yep.
- 1:03:15Speaker 2: 90-minute rain delay. Receiver does need to show up. I
- 1:03:17Speaker 2: do wish Dylan Stewart was playing, so I'm kind of
- 1:03:20Speaker 2: talking my confidence level down, but I do like South
- 1:03:23Speaker 2: Carolina in this game. So I'm going to take South
- 1:03:25Speaker 2: Carolina minus three and a half. I'm going to put
- 1:03:26Speaker 2: my confidence level at two. So two units, South Carolina.
- 1:03:29Speaker 1: I think if you're watching film on Mississippi State's offense,
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: they're the easiest team in all of college football to scout.
- 1:03:34Speaker 2: You broke down what they can do. Thank you, man.
- 1:03:36Speaker 2: Tell the people. It's 11 personnel, 24-7. The Y is off.
- 1:03:38Speaker 2: All the things you just said.
- 1:03:43Speaker 1: Makes sense. The problem is Kamario Taylor.
- 1:03:45Speaker 2: That is the problem.
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: The problem is Kamario Taylor. And it's the RPO, Lenore.
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: You talked about the DC and the OC, that's the battle.
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: I still go back to Kamario Taylor and Lenore Sellers.
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: Those are the two guys in this game that are
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: going to make a difference. And it's Kamario Taylor is
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: what South Carolina believed Lenore Sellers to be a couple
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: of years ago. where they're like, this is a guy,
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: he can run it, look how big, look how athletic
- 1:04:09Speaker 1: he is, he can throw the ball, he can stand
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: on flat footed and throw it 60 yards down the field.
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: And Kamario Taylor is the new shiny toy in the
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: SEC that everyone's excited about. Complete misread by me when
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: it came to the Minnesota game last week. I felt
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: very confident about Minnesota. I still think Minnesota is a well-coached,
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: disciplined ball club, but it's the Kamario Taylor effect. It's
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: the speed they have on the perimeter. I think Lenore
- 1:04:32Speaker 1: Sellers goes into this week understanding his relationship with Beamer.
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: You see the last couple of years when they had
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: a bunch of guys that are going to be NFL
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: draft picks stay in South Carolina. Says a lot about
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: the head coach, says a lot about the culture, says
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: a lot about the whole school in general. I think
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: Lenore Sellers is taking this very personal. I think every
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: great athlete should take these things personal. When you're supposed
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: to be the great shiny toy, then something else comes
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: in and it's the new Buzz Lightyear to the Woody
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: in Toy Story 1. I love the over in this game.
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: I love 58 and a half. I think this is
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: going to be the biggest firework game of the season.
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: I think they're going to trade blows. Both quarterbacks are
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: going to have incredible stat lines. I can't say where
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: I would go in this because I'm a for the
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: boys type of guy and I'm not going to let
- 1:05:17Speaker 1: that be public. So I'm going to say 58 and
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: a half over on that. I think fireworks all around
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: and it's going to be a great place to be
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: in South Carolina this weekend to watch a football game.
- 1:05:27Speaker 2: I got.
- 1:05:29Speaker 1: I'll do four on that. I'll do four. I love
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: points in this game.
- 1:05:33Speaker 5: Don't be surprised with an early turnover from Camario Taylor.
- 1:05:37Speaker 2: I wouldn't be surprised. In Williams-Brice's stadiums.
- 1:05:39Speaker 6: And then we never look it back.
- 1:05:41Speaker 1: Listen, after the Minnesota game, I was like, oh, Mississippi State.
- 1:05:47Speaker 2: Can play with anybody. Camario Taylor can keep them in games. Yeah,
- 1:05:51Speaker 2: you're right. No matter what.
- 1:05:52Speaker 1: But I also know, and through us doing the show
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: the last couple years together, is every time I see
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: a new shiny toy and I buy into that toy,
- 1:05:59Speaker 1: it bites me in the ass. So to protect everybody here,
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: I have to go the over. Because if I go
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: Mississippi State, something could happen.
- 1:06:08Speaker 3: Yeah, I see where your head's at.
- 1:06:09Speaker 2: Yeah. And also what happens if Kamaru Taylor gets hit
- 1:06:12Speaker 2: in the mouth early in the game? Like how does
- 1:06:14Speaker 2: the team respond? I think that defensive player falls down
- 1:06:17Speaker 2: and he keeps running. Wow. Kamaru Taylor is 6'4, like 240.
- 1:06:20Speaker 2: That kid's a unit. Yeah. He's a unit. More like competitively. Yeah.
- 1:06:30Speaker 2: Like they don't come off to a hot start. Like
- 1:06:33Speaker 2: it's a slower game.
- 1:06:34Speaker 1: I think it goes back to what we talked about
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: after week one when we were talking about this game
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: when they were going up to Minnesota is the confidence
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: level that this quarterback has is like Cam Newton-esque type
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: of confidence. Like he has open throws, crossing routes down below.
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: He doesn't give a shit about that.
- 1:06:52Speaker 3: Camario Taylor's the new Cam Newton.
- 1:06:54Speaker 2: Said by Josh Payton.
- 1:06:56Speaker 3: Oh, I was just interpreting.
- 1:06:58Speaker 2: But also, low-key, right? Low-key, he's kind of like that.
- 1:07:03Speaker 2: He's kind of like that.
- 1:07:04Speaker 1: But I love Lenore Sellers taking it personal. I love
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: him getting out his wide receivers. You guys need to
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: fucking do a better job.
- 1:07:09Speaker 3: So you think this game is going to be, I'm
- 1:07:10Speaker 3: the new Cam Newton. And then the next drive is like, no,
- 1:07:12Speaker 3: I'm the new Cam Newton. Imagine Cam Newton watching this game.
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: I think both quarterbacks start podcasts by the fourth quarter.
- 1:07:20Speaker 1: They both have podcast bands.
- 1:07:23Speaker 3: What do they wear to the postgame presser? The biggest
- 1:07:25Speaker 3: hat you've ever seen. How big is the feather going
- 1:07:27Speaker 3: to be on the cap?
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: This is Alice in Wonderland type of big hat. We're
- 1:07:31Speaker 1: talking 10 gallon.
- 1:07:33Speaker 5: One final quick note on Minnesota because Minnesota were being
- 1:07:36Speaker 5: used as like they beat Minnesota, they handle Minnesota.
- 1:07:40Speaker 6: Who is one of Minnesota's offensive coaches? Mike Shula. You
- 1:07:47Speaker 6: think we worried about offense? That has Mike Shula with
- 1:07:50Speaker 6: his hands in it.
- 1:07:51Speaker 2: I think George Lindsay's nice. Yeah, but he's talking about
- 1:07:55Speaker 2: Mike Shula. I know, he's trying to show Shula.
- 1:07:57Speaker 3: No, no, no, I just want to, that was a
- 1:07:59Speaker 3: fun fact. I actually did not even know Shula was
- 1:08:01Speaker 3: up there. Another fun fact is Clemson has low-key been
- 1:08:05Speaker 3: kind of terrible the last few years, right? You've watched them.
- 1:08:07Speaker 3: You've watched every game. So Garrett Riley was the punching bag.
- 1:08:12Speaker 3: Dabo hit the flush button. Good, man. We got Garrett
- 1:08:15Speaker 3: Riley out of here. We'll be fine. And all Garrett
- 1:08:17Speaker 3: Riley's done is gone on to Missouri, and they're lighting
- 1:08:22Speaker 3: it up. And all the Clemson folks, if you picked
- 1:08:24Speaker 3: up on this, they're starting to say, wait a second,
- 1:08:27Speaker 3: Garrett Riley wasn't the problem? Are we the problem? That's
- 1:08:32Speaker 3: been kind of fun to watch. A little side note.
- 1:08:34Speaker 3: Just some Palmetto State back and forth between me and JP.
- 1:08:37Speaker 5: Vickari Swain has the same amount of touchdowns as Clemson's offense.
- 1:08:40Speaker 2: Oh, no.
- 1:08:41Speaker 3: Oh, no.
- 1:08:42Speaker 6: Another fun fact for Clemson Carolina.
- 1:08:43Speaker 2: Another fun fact. It's a good pivot to the Gravely
- 1:08:46Speaker 2: Game of the Week.
- 1:08:47Speaker 3: Is it ever?
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: Dude, I have to do a better job of organizing
- 1:08:51Speaker 1: these things.
- 1:08:52Speaker 2: Go buy a lawnmower. Go buy a lawnmower. Gravely game
- 1:08:56Speaker 2: of the week.
- 1:08:56Speaker 1: LSU at Ole Miss. LSU is favored by three and
- 1:08:59Speaker 1: a half. points in Oxford. Total points in that game,
- 1:09:02Speaker 1: 58 and a half. Talked about the storylines. Talked about Kiffin.
- 1:09:08Speaker 1: Talked about people being served subpoenas or whatever it is
- 1:09:12Speaker 1: as they get litigation taking place on a Tuesday morning.
- 1:09:17Speaker 1: What's the make of this game, Wilcompton?
- 1:09:19Speaker 2: Over. I'm chasing points. I'm chasing 60 plus this weekend.
- 1:09:23Speaker 2: In a couple. SMU Louisville, LSU Ole Miss. To me,
- 1:09:26Speaker 2: it's what weakness gets exposed first. Is it the ball
- 1:09:29Speaker 2: security of LSU's offense with Sam Leavitt? Because again, it's like, yeah,
- 1:09:34Speaker 2: let down, not let down spot, but not even giving
- 1:09:36Speaker 2: a shit that you're playing Louisiana Tech. But also, Sam Leavitt,
- 1:09:40Speaker 2: what are you doing? Three picks, first half, four turnovers.
- 1:09:46Speaker 2: Or the weaknesses of Ole Miss's defense. And part of
- 1:09:49Speaker 2: me is, like, the reason I love the over in
- 1:09:52Speaker 2: this game, too, is you have Trinidad Chambliss and Lacey. Like,
- 1:09:55Speaker 2: this offense is going to be high-powered. Yeah, LSU's defense
- 1:09:58Speaker 2: is incredible. Like, athletic up front, flies with the football
- 1:10:03Speaker 2: at the second level. They're long on the outside. And
- 1:10:07Speaker 2: number two, that safety. He's as good as anybody in
- 1:10:10Speaker 2: the country.
- 1:10:10Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:10:11Speaker 2: Is Ty Benefield? Yeah. Yeah, he is an absolute. Boise
- 1:10:13Speaker 2: State transfer.
- 1:10:14Speaker 3: Yep.
- 1:10:14Speaker 2: He's an absolute stud. He's an eraser at that third
- 1:10:17Speaker 2: level when playing in the box. He's got range on
- 1:10:19Speaker 2: the outside. Great speed, great closing speed, in control of
- 1:10:23Speaker 2: his body. Like, they have everything as far as Ole Miss'
- 1:10:26Speaker 2: defense is concerned. I just, I like Trinidad-Chambers. I love
- 1:10:30Speaker 2: the spot. LSU coming into Oxford. It's like, LSU hasn't,
- 1:10:34Speaker 2: who have they beat? Louisiana Tech and Clemson. Clemson right now, like,
- 1:10:37Speaker 2: they're a dogshit football team. Right now.
- 1:10:40Speaker 3: That's one way to put it.
- 1:10:41Speaker 2: I mean, right now, right? Like, you know what I mean? Like,
- 1:10:45Speaker 2: who would they beat? Nobody. Yeah, nobody. They haven't played
- 1:10:49Speaker 2: Chambliss and Lacey. They haven't walked into Oxford with Game
- 1:10:55Speaker 2: Day there. They haven't walked in there with Lane Kiffin
- 1:10:57Speaker 2: walking into that building. Game Day was at LSU Clemson
- 1:11:00Speaker 2: week one. No, I'm talking game day going to be
- 1:11:02Speaker 2: at Oxford this weekend. Oh, uh-huh. Yeah. Like, they haven't
- 1:11:06Speaker 2: walked into a moment like this. It might have felt
- 1:11:08Speaker 2: like that moment, but that was more get right with
- 1:11:10Speaker 2: all the distractions going on.
- 1:11:11Speaker 3: Just let him go. Just let him cook. Keep cooking.
- 1:11:13Speaker 3: Keep cooking.
- 1:11:14Speaker 2: I'm absolutely dialed in right now. There's no notes. Because
- 1:11:16Speaker 2: it's going to be the over. It's going to be
- 1:11:19Speaker 2: the over. Slap the table, Will. Slap the table. Give
- 1:11:26Speaker 2: me the fucking over. Give me the over, LSU Ole Miss.
- 1:11:31Speaker 3: Dude, they haven't dealt with game day being in town.
- 1:11:33Speaker 2: LSU doesn't know about distractions. No, they haven't dealt with
- 1:11:35Speaker 2: game day being in town. They don't know about game
- 1:11:36Speaker 2: day being in town. Being there? No, no. They're just
- 1:11:39Speaker 2: quietly about being in the office. I'm in it like
- 1:11:42Speaker 2: game day in Oxford, Mississippi. Game day in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
- 1:11:46Speaker 2: But that was against Clemson. Who is what?
- 1:11:49Speaker 1: Who we thought was going to be a team.
- 1:11:51Speaker 2: Absolutely. Who we thought, but then the game happened. It's like, okay, damn,
- 1:11:56Speaker 2: Clemson really got broken up. Then you're up what?
- 1:11:58Speaker 1: Seven points against Georgia Southern? If you had to pick
- 1:12:01Speaker 1: a team, because I love the slap at the table.
- 1:12:03Speaker 1: I love that there have been no distractions for LSU.
- 1:12:08Speaker 1: This game, there's got to be distractions. Who would you pick?
- 1:12:11Speaker 1: I'm not going to hold your feet to the fire.
- 1:12:12Speaker 1: I just want to know your thought process.
- 1:12:17Speaker 2: Probably LSU. You just inceptioned him.
- 1:12:19Speaker 3: Yeah. That's an L.
- 1:12:20Speaker 2: I thought you were pointing at me. Probably LSU. Because again,
- 1:12:24Speaker 2: Ole Miss defensively, I'm just not, I don't have a
- 1:12:27Speaker 2: whole lot of faith. And as good as LSU's defense is,
- 1:12:32Speaker 2: they're going to have, I mean, they're going to have
- 1:12:33Speaker 2: a plan for it. Like Trinidad-Chambers, he gets the ball
- 1:12:35Speaker 2: off in 2.5 seconds. Like the pressure rate of LSU
- 1:12:40Speaker 2: is great, but it doesn't work if you're not going
- 1:12:42Speaker 2: to get to the quarterback. Yeah. Quick potty break to
- 1:12:45Speaker 2: shout out neutral. No free shout outs to neutral. Neutral
- 1:12:47Speaker 2: tastes great. So much better than what else is out there.
- 1:12:50Speaker 2: It's made with real vodka and real juice. That's what
- 1:12:52Speaker 2: makes it taste great and delicious. It comes in a
- 1:12:54Speaker 2: variety of flavors, pineapple, watermelon, lime, and strawberry, to name
- 1:12:57Speaker 2: a few. And it's perfect for social occasions because it
- 1:13:01Speaker 2: is such a crowd pleaser. Think on the beach with friends,
- 1:13:04Speaker 2: at a house watching the game with the boys, at
- 1:13:06Speaker 2: a local bar watching the games with the boys. It's
- 1:13:08Speaker 2: the perfect time of year to grab a 12-pack of
- 1:13:09Speaker 2: Neutral for the beach or grab a bucket deal in
- 1:13:12Speaker 2: your favorite bar to celebrate football season. Neutral, keep it tasty.
- 1:13:17Speaker 2: So if I had to lean anywhere, I'd say LSU.
- 1:13:19Speaker 2: I'm personally like I would love to see Ole Miss
- 1:13:21Speaker 2: win just because of everything that went down last year.
- 1:13:24Speaker 2: But if I had to lean anywhere, it'd be LSU.
- 1:13:26Speaker 2: But I do love the over in this game. 58
- 1:13:28Speaker 2: and a half. You're LSU as well?
- 1:13:31Speaker 6: No.
- 1:13:32Speaker 2: No.
- 1:13:33Speaker 3: No, I think the wrong team's favorite again.
- 1:13:35Speaker 2: Really?
- 1:13:35Speaker 3: Yeah, and it moved across three this morning, which does
- 1:13:39Speaker 3: me a huge favor because I'm taking Ole Miss plus
- 1:13:41Speaker 3: the points. So they're going to give me three and
- 1:13:43Speaker 3: a half. Don't, don't find peer pressure me on Moneyline.
- 1:13:45Speaker 3: I'm just taking, I'm taking the points here. I'm going
- 1:13:48Speaker 3: to put three units on this game. What makes me
- 1:13:50Speaker 3: a little bit nervous is you actually just gave a
- 1:13:52Speaker 3: perfect scouting report for Clemson. So I think there's maybe
- 1:13:55Speaker 3: been a little bit of a knee jerk in the
- 1:13:57Speaker 3: marketplace when everyone watched that week one result. It's really
- 1:14:01Speaker 3: hard to look away from. It's a huge blowout win.
- 1:14:05Speaker 3: And so I think there was a little bit of
- 1:14:07Speaker 3: an overreaction. I actually think Ole Miss got tested way
- 1:14:10Speaker 3: more in week one. And we probably learned a lot
- 1:14:13Speaker 3: more about Ole Miss in week one against Louisville than
- 1:14:16Speaker 3: we did LSU facing Clemson. And some of the questions,
- 1:14:20Speaker 3: like can LSU sustain a running game against a better
- 1:14:24Speaker 3: defensive front? I actually still don't know. I still don't
- 1:14:27Speaker 3: know about LSU's defensive front being challenged with a really
- 1:14:31Speaker 3: experienced interior offensive line here. Clemson couldn't run the ball
- 1:14:34Speaker 3: because they were behind immediately. So they had to try
- 1:14:36Speaker 3: and throw. And side note, they couldn't do that either.
- 1:14:39Speaker 3: So I don't know that we saw the water pressure
- 1:14:41Speaker 3: against the dam. If the cracks are there, we don't
- 1:14:43Speaker 3: even know where the cracks are. We theoretically will find
- 1:14:46Speaker 3: out where the cracks are this weekend. I think there's
- 1:14:48Speaker 3: a lot to be said for desperation. I think there's
- 1:14:50Speaker 3: a lot to be said, same way with Texas last week,
- 1:14:52Speaker 3: for one team wanting to win the game, one team
- 1:14:54Speaker 3: needing to win the game. Like I can picture a
- 1:14:56Speaker 3: world where LSU walks out of here with a close
- 1:14:58Speaker 3: loss and they're good to go the rest of the year.
- 1:15:02Speaker 3: This has the chance to do something mentally to Ole Miss.
- 1:15:05Speaker 3: If they don't win it the same way Texas may
- 1:15:06Speaker 3: have been neutered mentally if they didn't come back and
- 1:15:08Speaker 3: win that game against Ohio State last week, although this
- 1:15:11Speaker 3: is that times 10 because of the personal connection with
- 1:15:15Speaker 3: Lane Kiffin. There's no answer for Trinidad Chambliss. If there was,
- 1:15:20Speaker 3: Kirby Smart in Georgia would have had it. And they
- 1:15:22Speaker 3: got to face him twice last year, and they had
- 1:15:24Speaker 3: no answer for him. So all due respect to Blake Baker.
- 1:15:28Speaker 3: We were talking to him the day before the Clemson
- 1:15:30Speaker 3: game in the weight room, and he laid out everything
- 1:15:33Speaker 3: they were about to do. player for player, matchup for matchup.
- 1:15:36Speaker 3: He laid out everything they were about to do to
- 1:15:38Speaker 3: Clemson and they did it. It was like spoilers to
- 1:15:41Speaker 3: a movie. And we were standing there on the sideline going, yep,
- 1:15:43Speaker 3: there it is. Yep. There he is. There's that matchup.
- 1:15:46Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 1:15:47Speaker 3: I'd love to have Blake Baker on the show. Like
- 1:15:48Speaker 3: we can call him. I don't think he's answering right now.
- 1:15:51Speaker 3: What's your answer for Trinidad Chambliss? What's your answer for
- 1:15:54Speaker 3: like Deuce Alexander? What's your, what's your answer for Kiwan Lacey?
- 1:15:57Speaker 3: What's your answer? Do you think you've really got the
- 1:15:59Speaker 3: dudes up front? Young guys, really talented guys, but young guys,
- 1:16:03Speaker 3: like that's where they're about to be tested. And I
- 1:16:06Speaker 3: trust Ole Miss's ground game more than LSU in this game.
- 1:16:10Speaker 3: And if everyone wants to look back at the Clemson
- 1:16:12Speaker 3: game in week one as the mantle you're going to
- 1:16:16Speaker 3: hang your hat on, don't you have to look at
- 1:16:19Speaker 3: week two? Like if you're going to be so supremely
- 1:16:21Speaker 3: confident after the Clemson game, don't you have to look
- 1:16:24Speaker 3: at that offensive line giving up five sacks and 11
- 1:16:26Speaker 3: tackles for loss last year or last week rather? Don't
- 1:16:29Speaker 3: you have to look at three interceptions? So that balances
- 1:16:32Speaker 3: out in my mind. And what it equates to is
- 1:16:34Speaker 3: I've still got some questions. And if I'm even in
- 1:16:37Speaker 3: my mind, I'm going with home team in desperation mode.
- 1:16:40Speaker 3: So I'll take Ole Miss plus three and a half.
- 1:16:43Speaker 3: I'm going to put three units on it.
- 1:16:46Speaker 2: Three units.
- 1:16:47Speaker 3: Three units.
- 1:16:49Speaker 2: I think if you put any other.
- 1:16:51Speaker 1: jersey or logo on Ole Miss this week. I'd be
- 1:16:55Speaker 1: more uncomfortable about LSU. But Lane Kiffin is the joker
- 1:16:59Speaker 1: of college football. And the joker doesn't get up for
- 1:17:01Speaker 1: petty crime. He gets up to turn civilizations against themselves.
- 1:17:03Speaker 1: And this is the perfect seat for Lane Kiffin and me.
- 1:17:06Speaker 1: And we talked about how he's saying all the pressures
- 1:17:08Speaker 1: on them. He pat himself on the back about how
- 1:17:10Speaker 1: many games they won last year and all the pressures
- 1:17:13Speaker 1: on Ole Miss to win this game. And there's a
- 1:17:15Speaker 1: heightened sense of security when it comes to Oxford, all
- 1:17:17Speaker 1: the things. It plays into Lane Kiffin's mindset, the way
- 1:17:21Speaker 1: he wants to operate. I agree with you with the
- 1:17:24Speaker 1: offensive line. The offensive line on LSU has to play
- 1:17:26Speaker 1: a lot better for them to be successful. Lane Kiffin's
- 1:17:29Speaker 1: offense is a run-first offense. You have to establish the
- 1:17:32Speaker 1: run in order for the passing game to be successful,
- 1:17:34Speaker 1: in order for him to put up as many points
- 1:17:36Speaker 1: as he usually does. I did look at the second
- 1:17:39Speaker 1: game of Ole Miss and Charlotte, and what I saw
- 1:17:42Speaker 1: was Charlotte outrush Ole Miss. When Ole Miss' team, the
- 1:17:46Speaker 1: strength of their defense is supposed to be the front seven,
- 1:17:48Speaker 1: specifically the interior of their defensive line.
- 1:17:51Speaker 2: So I see a.
- 1:17:53Speaker 1: Matchup that earlier in the year, I would have said
- 1:17:56Speaker 1: that Ole Miss has a massive edge on. Now it's like, well,
- 1:18:01Speaker 1: not so much. LSU does have good tackles. There's some
- 1:18:04Speaker 1: question marks in the interior. So I think they're going
- 1:18:06Speaker 1: to be able to run the ball. I've already talked
- 1:18:08Speaker 1: about Sam Lev as my Heisman guy. Three interceptions against
- 1:18:11Speaker 1: La Tech is nothing that you can really go and
- 1:18:14Speaker 1: kind of be like, well, it doesn't matter, except for
- 1:18:16Speaker 1: the fact that it doesn't matter. And you said it
- 1:18:18Speaker 1: last week, like neither one of those teams walked into
- 1:18:20Speaker 1: Charlotte or Louisiana Tech and thought, oh, we're going to
- 1:18:22Speaker 1: scout this game. They walked in there as no team
- 1:18:25Speaker 1: should ever do in football and just put the uniform
- 1:18:27Speaker 1: on and won the game. They went through the motions.
- 1:18:29Speaker 1: I don't Bet you there was more scouting and practice
- 1:18:35Speaker 1: for both LSU and Ole Miss on each other than
- 1:18:37Speaker 1: there were against Charlotte and Louisiana Tech. The thing that
- 1:18:40Speaker 1: can get LSU into trouble is Sam Levitt trying to
- 1:18:43Speaker 1: play hero ball. He doesn't need to play hero ball,
- 1:18:46Speaker 1: and I think that's where the run game with Dylan Jones,
- 1:18:48Speaker 1: the Wisconsin transfer, really comes in. He is a bright
- 1:18:51Speaker 1: spot for them, not only through training camp, but the
- 1:18:53Speaker 1: first couple of weeks. And I just think there's the edges.
- 1:18:57Speaker 1: Was it Princewell and Ross, the Tennessee transfer, for LSU
- 1:19:01Speaker 1: against Trinidad and Chambliss? Getting to the quarterback is not
- 1:19:03Speaker 1: going to be a problem. Ole Miss' offensive line is...
- 1:19:06Speaker 1: Not great, to say the least. Trinidad is an elite talent.
- 1:19:09Speaker 1: He's a special one-of-one type cat. But the speed that
- 1:19:13Speaker 1: LSU has, they're going to have an answer for Deuce Alexander.
- 1:19:16Speaker 1: They're going to have an answer for a cage rush
- 1:19:19Speaker 1: with a guy, a spy, probably Weeks, or an athlete
- 1:19:22Speaker 1: they put out there just to.
- 1:19:23Speaker 2: Follow him around. Any of those backers, they all got speed.
- 1:19:25Speaker 1: They all can run. Trades Green, anytime he's on the field,
- 1:19:30Speaker 1: you have mismatch. regardless of who you put on him.
- 1:19:35Speaker 1: Winnie Watkins Jr., they have all these soundbites from Ole
- 1:19:37Speaker 1: Miss guys saying, I don't have a relationship with Lane Kiffin.
- 1:19:40Speaker 2: Nah, we cool. It's all good. No bad blood.
- 1:19:42Speaker 1: But X, Y, and Z, I don't mess with him.
- 1:19:44Speaker 1: There's other guys that came from Ole Miss to LSU
- 1:19:48Speaker 1: that probably feel the same exact way that want to
- 1:19:50Speaker 1: make Ole Miss feel some type of way. This is
- 1:19:52Speaker 1: a game I saw just like with Clemson where they're
- 1:19:56Speaker 1: going for two. We see Lane Kiffin, he's shooting hoops again,
- 1:19:59Speaker 1: and they're up. double digits in the fourth quarter of
- 1:20:02Speaker 1: this game. I like LSU a lot. I'm not going
- 1:20:06Speaker 1: to pick LSU to win the SEC and Sam Leavitt
- 1:20:08Speaker 1: to win the Heisman only to get to week three
- 1:20:10Speaker 1: and turn my back on them now.
- 1:20:12Speaker 2: I love LSU.
- 1:20:13Speaker 1: I'm going to go four units, three and a half,
- 1:20:16Speaker 1: minus three and a half.
- 1:20:18Speaker 2: I like LSU a lot. I think, I mean, they
- 1:20:21Speaker 2: have Trinidad. Deuce Alexander. I think the things that I'm
- 1:20:23Speaker 2: going to... But like, he hasn't been.
- 1:20:26Speaker 1: Like, he's rushed for, I think, like 30 less yards
- 1:20:29Speaker 1: per game so far in the first two weeks. Their
- 1:20:31Speaker 1: offensive line is a massive question mark, especially at the
- 1:20:34Speaker 1: right tackle position. But the interior, they're not getting a
- 1:20:36Speaker 1: whole lot of push. It's about 2.5 seconds. Like, it's
- 1:20:39Speaker 1: a different breed of animal on the back end that's
- 1:20:41Speaker 1: going to be able to cover guys faster. So, Trinidad's
- 1:20:44Speaker 1: going to do what he does best. He's going to
- 1:20:45Speaker 1: run around a lot. But I just like athletes. I
- 1:20:48Speaker 1: like the athletes on the other side of the ball
- 1:20:49Speaker 1: when things start to break down.
- 1:20:51Speaker 2: The things that I'll like to keep an eye on,
- 1:20:52Speaker 2: like watching the film and the interior of the offensive
- 1:20:55Speaker 2: line for LSU is 52, that left guard, he was
- 1:20:57Speaker 2: getting exposed against Louisiana Tech. It'll be interesting to see
- 1:21:00Speaker 2: how they attack that side of the line of scrimmage.
- 1:21:03Speaker 2: And then also offensively with LSU, they don't get to
- 1:21:08Speaker 2: the quarterback very well. They're big up front. They got
- 1:21:11Speaker 2: some big boys up front. But I think they might
- 1:21:14Speaker 2: be too big. Like as far as attacking the perimeter,
- 1:21:17Speaker 2: the depth on the D-line, like again, hitting the perimeter,
- 1:21:20Speaker 2: hitting the wide running game, wide zones. And then also
- 1:21:24Speaker 2: it's like trying to chase around Levitt. Like he's a
- 1:21:26Speaker 2: dynamic quarterback. He's just got to protect the football. He's
- 1:21:28Speaker 2: the one that could get them in trouble. So it'll
- 1:21:30Speaker 2: be interesting to kind of watch that game from a
- 1:21:32Speaker 2: schematic standpoint because LSU does have the favor of Joshua.
- 1:21:36Speaker 3: Let's remember as we're sitting here next week coming off
- 1:21:40Speaker 3: this game, it's going to be a huge emotional letdown
- 1:21:42Speaker 3: for at least one team, if not both teams. LSU
- 1:21:45Speaker 3: has A & M at home next weekend. Ole Miss
- 1:21:49Speaker 3: has to go to Florida next weekend. So there's no
- 1:21:53Speaker 3: time to get right. There's no time to disappear off
- 1:21:56Speaker 3: the radar and do what Oregon's doing against Portland State
- 1:21:59Speaker 3: this week, just to keep that in mind.
- 1:22:01Speaker 2: Just keep an eye on that. Yeah, keep an eye
- 1:22:03Speaker 2: on that one.
- 1:22:03Speaker 3: Monitor that.
- 1:22:04Speaker 2: Like some of the underdogs next week on the slate
- 1:22:06Speaker 2: is what you're talking about.
- 1:22:07Speaker 3: Could be advantageous.
- 1:22:08Speaker 2: Yeah, Texas A & M, kind of like that.
- 1:22:10Speaker 1: I think LSU, this is a state, I mean, Like
- 1:22:16Speaker 1: I said in the beginning, if this was a different
- 1:22:18Speaker 1: logo that Lane Kiffin had no beef with publicly, I
- 1:22:23Speaker 1: could see the talent of Ole Miss handling it. But
- 1:22:25Speaker 1: this is just Lane Kiffin.
- 1:22:27Speaker 2: Yeah. I think Chef said it.
- 1:22:29Speaker 1: It's like they always have like a– they give up–
- 1:22:31Speaker 1: like Lane Kiffin's teams always give up a stinker every year.
- 1:22:33Speaker 1: He kept using the word stinker with me. And I'm like,
- 1:22:36Speaker 1: all right, this is not that. Like this is– all
- 1:22:39Speaker 1: eyes are on Ole Miss. The whole world is talking
- 1:22:42Speaker 1: about this game. And I like, I like the agent
- 1:22:45Speaker 1: of chaos. I like Wayne Giffen.
- 1:22:47Speaker 3: Hmm.
- 1:22:48Speaker 2: Should we talk some underdogs? Let's talk underdogs, dude. Cause I,
- 1:22:52Speaker 2: I like where I'm at. Who do you like underdog?
- 1:22:56Speaker 2: Dog of the week.
- 1:22:57Speaker 1: Uh, I like Eastern Washington plus 42 and a half
- 1:23:00Speaker 1: versus Washington.
- 1:23:02Speaker 2: I think, uh, you talked about it a lot.
- 1:23:04Speaker 1: We've talked about it as like Washington being a sleeper
- 1:23:06Speaker 1: team in the big 10. I haven't seen anything on film.
- 1:23:09Speaker 2: They're just asleep. They're asleep.
- 1:23:11Speaker 3: They're a sleeper team.
- 1:23:11Speaker 2: Yeah, they're asleep.
- 1:23:12Speaker 1: And I just– 42.5 points just in general is a
- 1:23:15Speaker 1: lot to me. So, I mean, it's not going to
- 1:23:17Speaker 1: be a competitive game, but I see Eastern Washington covering.
- 1:23:20Speaker 2: I like that pick. And to your point on Washington, like,
- 1:23:23Speaker 2: they can't– they're on the outside looking in at the
- 1:23:25Speaker 2: Willie C Top 25. I'm going Kentucky with the points
- 1:23:29Speaker 2: this week. I think Texas A & M is a
- 1:23:31Speaker 2: little overrated. Hmm. So I like Kentucky with the points.
- 1:23:34Speaker 2: I want to say, what is the, I know it's
- 1:23:36Speaker 2: double digits, but I like Kentucky. I like Kentucky at
- 1:23:40Speaker 2: A & M. And yeah, I think A & M
- 1:23:43Speaker 2: is a little overrated. I don't think Marcel Reed has
- 1:23:45Speaker 2: played like that well compared to him being in the
- 1:23:47Speaker 2: Heisman conversation. And it's like, they played a pretty clean,
- 1:23:52Speaker 2: pretty clean game, like one penalty, no turnovers. And they just,
- 1:23:57Speaker 2: I don't know. They're not like the most exciting team
- 1:23:59Speaker 2: to watch. Arizona State coughed the ball up several times.
- 1:24:03Speaker 2: A lot of penalties. Look what happened to them. Yeah,
- 1:24:06Speaker 2: look what happened to them. But I'm going to go, yeah,
- 1:24:08Speaker 2: Kentucky with the points here against A & M.
- 1:24:11Speaker 3: Oklahoma last week, as a favorite, lost. And they go home,
- 1:24:14Speaker 3: and they're going to play a game no one's watching
- 1:24:16Speaker 3: this week, except for me, because they're playing New Mexico.
- 1:24:19Speaker 3: I've had this game circled since spring. I think it's
- 1:24:22Speaker 3: a very dangerous spot for Oklahoma. New Mexico's getting 22
- 1:24:26Speaker 3: and a half. New Mexico plus 22 and a half
- 1:24:29Speaker 3: is my dog of the week.
- 1:24:31Speaker 1: Perfect segue into our parlays. My first leg, I have
- 1:24:34Speaker 1: Oklahoma covering 22 and a half versus New Mexico.
- 1:24:37Speaker 2: Wounded animal theory. Everyone hates John Mateer now. I love
- 1:24:42Speaker 2: John Mateer. He had a tough game, man. He had
- 1:24:44Speaker 2: a tough game. I love John Mateer. I love this team.
- 1:24:46Speaker 1: I love 22 and a half.
- 1:24:48Speaker 2: Brent Venables. You saw the vein coming out?
- 1:24:51Speaker 3: Mm-hmm.
- 1:24:51Speaker 1: He's just all red right now, and he wore sunblock
- 1:24:53Speaker 1: for that game in Michigan. BYU versus Colorado. I have
- 1:24:56Speaker 1: the over, 52 and a half. BYU's going to score
- 1:24:59Speaker 1: a lot of points. The Graveyard had a comment about
- 1:25:01Speaker 1: Colorado today, can't remember. So that's why I like them.
- 1:25:05Speaker 1: And then Western Michigan, Rich Rodriguez, plus nine and a half.
- 1:25:07Speaker 2: West Virginia? Sorry, yeah, what'd I say? Western Michigan. Sorry,
- 1:25:11Speaker 2: I'm still thinking about them, bro. I'm still thinking about them.
- 1:25:14Speaker 1: West Virginia, plus nine and a half versus Virginia. The
- 1:25:17Speaker 1: total for that parlay is plus 636. I don't like
- 1:25:23Speaker 1: this parlay. I love this parlay.
- 1:25:25Speaker 2: I got a spicy one for you, fellas. Is it
- 1:25:28Speaker 2: Delaney Walker spicy? What's Delaney Walker spicy? I think his
- 1:25:32Speaker 2: parlay last week was plus 100, plus 105. No, I mean,
- 1:25:35Speaker 2: it's low in yours, but it ain't plus 100. Virginia Moneyline.
- 1:25:41Speaker 2: Love it. Over 50.5, LSU Ole Miss. Over 50.5, SMU Louisville.
- 1:25:49Speaker 2: Notre Dame, Michigan State, under 52.5. USC Altline, minus 8.5
- 1:25:55Speaker 2: versus Rutgers. And then Nebraska Cornhuskers, minus 12.5 Altline against
- 1:26:01Speaker 2: North Dakota. That's plus 497.
- 1:26:03Speaker 3: Lost my mind. I'd love to take Clemson minus three
- 1:26:11Speaker 3: and a half against North Carolina. I'd love to pair
- 1:26:14Speaker 3: that up with Purdue plus 14 and a half against UCLA.
- 1:26:17Speaker 3: Don't know what it returns, but I hit my parlay
- 1:26:20Speaker 3: last week.
- 1:26:21Speaker 2: Do it again this week.
- 1:26:22Speaker 3: And I'm going to try and do it again this week.
- 1:26:24Speaker 2: I'm getting one this week. Fucking Iowa let my ass
- 1:26:27Speaker 2: down last week. That's all we had left. Was it
- 1:26:29Speaker 2: three and a half? I forget what I, I took
- 1:26:31Speaker 2: them on an alt line. I want to say they
- 1:26:33Speaker 2: were favored by.
- 1:26:34Speaker 3: They were like, they were double digit.
- 1:26:35Speaker 2: Double digit. And I took them at like Iowa minus
- 1:26:37Speaker 2: six and a half.
- 1:26:38Speaker 1: I would have expected them to mop Iowa State based
- 1:26:40Speaker 1: on what Matt Campbell did to that program.
- 1:26:42Speaker 3: You would have expected Washington to mop Utah State.
- 1:26:45Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:26:46Speaker 3: Like there, there are a lot of, you would have
- 1:26:47Speaker 3: expected Illinois to handle business against Duke.
- 1:26:50Speaker 2: Big 10's kind of pissing down their leg right now
- 1:26:52Speaker 2: as far as a conference.
- 1:26:53Speaker 3: It's early.
- 1:26:54Speaker 2: It's early, but.
- 1:26:55Speaker 3: Hop in conference play. Someone has to win every week.
- 1:26:58Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. We're talking about it.
- 1:27:00Speaker 1: It's, Yeah, what the hell is Washington doing, man? It
- 1:27:04Speaker 1: all started with, was it DeMond Williams? Him trying to
- 1:27:07Speaker 1: go to LSU, signing the papers, and then all of
- 1:27:09Speaker 1: a sudden, like, you know what, I'm not going to go.
- 1:27:11Speaker 1: Then has to go back into a locker room and
- 1:27:12Speaker 1: be like, I was just fucking around.
- 1:27:13Speaker 2: Guys, I'm back. I was just messing around. Sneaky game
- 1:27:16Speaker 2: this weekend, too. Virginia Tech, Maryland. Yes, very sneaky. Keep
- 1:27:20Speaker 2: your eye on that game.
- 1:27:20Speaker 3: Very sneaky. Model loves Maryland. I hate it. Model loves Maryland.
- 1:27:24Speaker 2: Early in the year, Maryland. James Franklin seems to have
- 1:27:25Speaker 2: a little mojo back, too, right now. James Franklin takes
- 1:27:27Speaker 2: people betting against him personally. Like really.
- 1:27:30Speaker 3: I think he takes the point spread itself personally.
- 1:27:32Speaker 1: If that's the case, he never watched our show because
- 1:27:34Speaker 1: that happened a lot and we were right.
- 1:27:37Speaker 3: That's true.
- 1:27:38Speaker 2: Who was the gentleman that he kept saying hello to?
- 1:27:41Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 1:27:41Speaker 1: It was over like a Zoom. The guy kept asking
- 1:27:43Speaker 1: the question. He was like, hello, hey, hey, over and
- 1:27:46Speaker 1: over again.
- 1:27:47Speaker 3: I think he got stuck in a joke and then
- 1:27:49Speaker 3: the joke wasn't resolving itself, but he said, I can't
- 1:27:52Speaker 3: bail now. So he just kept saying it and it
- 1:27:54Speaker 3: got really cringy, really, really quick.
- 1:27:56Speaker 2: Got real uncomfortable. Yeah.
- 1:27:58Speaker 3: It's like when you tee it up and you think
- 1:28:00Speaker 3: the other guy knows what the spike on it is,
- 1:28:03Speaker 3: but the guy's like.
- 1:28:04Speaker 2: Uh, uh. He just wanted to ask this question and
- 1:28:06Speaker 2: get out of it. He seemed nervous asking that question.
- 1:28:07Speaker 3: I'm 19 years old. I'm late for class. I don't
- 1:28:10Speaker 3: even get paid for this. Good show.
- 1:28:14Speaker 2: Good show. Just sitting and hanging, man. What else is up, dude?
- 1:28:17Speaker 2: What else are we doing?
- 1:28:18Speaker 1: Your parlay, I loved your parlay, but anytime you start
- 1:28:22Speaker 1: playing the Huskers and I get nervous.
- 1:28:24Speaker 2: But, hey, I'll tell you right now, you'd like to
- 1:28:26Speaker 2: be nervous about Nebraska right now.
- 1:28:27Speaker 3: He loves this team.
- 1:28:29Speaker 2: He likes that team.
- 1:28:30Speaker 3: Likes that team. I like this team. Yeah.
- 1:28:32Speaker 2: Just say, we're like this team. Yeah. Using the word like.
- 1:28:36Speaker 1: Because, week five, right?
- 1:28:38Speaker 2: Is it week five? Miss, State? North Dakota is who
- 1:28:41Speaker 2: we got this weekend. Wow. I'm just talking about from
- 1:28:43Speaker 2: a schedule standpoint. I don't know who we have next week.
- 1:28:48Speaker 2: Don't even know. I know we got Jamal Rule. I
- 1:28:51Speaker 2: know we got Anthony Calandria. I know you like this team.
- 1:28:53Speaker 2: I know I like this team. I like them too, buddy.
- 1:28:57Speaker 2: All right, fellas. Big hug, tiny kisses, and also Busted
- 1:29:00Speaker 2: and Paid on Campus will be at Auburn Friday afternoon.
- 1:29:03Speaker 2: We will see you guys next week, or we'll see
- 1:29:05Speaker 2: you guys on Friday. Who knows? No notes.
