- 0:41Hello and welcome back to a hamster with the blunt penknife
- 0:44the Doctor Who commentary podcast that you come to for all
- 0:48of your ceiling related content. You'll never be disappointed.
- 0:54We're so used to the three walls and yeah.
- 0:57Well yeah, yeah and nothing and then aligning grid think of many
- 1:01hours of late 70s, early 80s. You here as we can see the late
- 1:0580s or swishing the mid. It's all free Waters.
- 1:09Yeah. Yeah, shooting up was is not a
- 1:12possibility if they do not will get the lighting Gantry.
- 1:15Yeah. Someone will be having a pisser
- 1:16to her. So this is the shortest ever
- 1:22episode of Doctor Who this is that, right?
- 1:25Yeah, this is shorter than the mine Raw Bar.
- 1:27I think absolutely be 80 minutes are really why?
- 1:32That's the Liberty show, isn't it?
- 1:33Because Patrick troughton Fraser's, Wendy, peppery were
- 1:35pissed off at they're having to carry so much.
- 1:38Also they interested in want to say, A few minutes of every
- 1:41episode of fine. You don't want episode less.
- 1:43Haha. Yeah, well I mean this season is
- 1:4728 episodes, isn't it? It is and then they lose they
- 1:52lost. I think to because of Cain on a
- 1:54company was that 19. I know it's all part of this
- 1:58production block. We have kind of like a okay.
- 2:00I'll oh no. I think that was 19.
- 2:02I think they clawed to they claw back to episodes for the sake of
- 2:06chartres or is that just fan rumor?
- 2:08Maybe Like that, you know, we have gained those two episodes
- 2:12we could have had more hijinks in the 20s in Black Orkut.
- 2:15Yeah, but it is is like that 74 part stories this season, which
- 2:19is pretty incredible. Because I was, um, I've been
- 2:22thinking a bit about the final season of Pertwee lately.
- 2:28And of course, there are only ever five stories in a perjury
- 2:31season and most aren't there because there's those fucking
- 2:33Cecil are better, so many stories and obviously it's more
- 2:38expensive to have. More stories because you've got
- 2:43cast every eight and knew it. Yeah, that's right.
- 2:46I said one is always more expensive than any other kind of
- 2:49episode. I was talking yesterday about
- 2:51whether six or seven Parts work better.
- 2:53I think seven do. I think somehow they advertise
- 2:56the cost better. Yeah.
- 2:57Yeah. Maybe it's impossible.
- 2:58Evil of the Daleks Marco, Polo said season 7 and the season
- 3:03seven was and they're all great stories.
- 3:05Yeah, they are but they use the time I think to add extra
- 3:10Character be for just to redo the action in an alternative
- 3:14Universe. Gloria.
- 3:16The I don't know, it's pretty great.
- 3:18But yeah, I think there are three four works best.
- 3:22Yeah, I think for works best, I think seven parties there is
- 3:25something about just being with the same characters for like a
- 3:28month and a half, you know. Like the Greg and Petra
- 3:32relationship is not all that interesting but because we get
- 3:37to think about it for a long time, it actually matters to us
- 3:39at the end. End of Inferno that they go off
- 3:43together and get a hotel room, but I do that.
- 3:47Possibly potentially a romance. I still feel a mr.
- 3:53Trick in every base and show you.
- 3:55Yes, I've been totally into that.
- 3:57I just don't think it was going to happen in.
- 3:59No, yeah. Why do you think it's or six or
- 4:05seven parts are like the perfect sort of Sunday afternoon?
- 4:07Yeah. Reined in.
- 4:09Let's watch. Three hours on palatov you know
- 4:12quickly. Yeah.
- 4:13And some of those expired. It's like they could to do the
- 4:15ironing to do that kind of thing.
- 4:18Think back to you know young Nipper Nathan.
- 4:20Now desperately excited for his next episode of Doctor Who 25
- 4:25minutes. Yeah a week.
- 4:27You know and then this turns up 19 minutes long.
- 4:30Well I never had to wait a week because in Australia they just
- 4:34used to show it every week night so they would ya.
- 4:38So in fact, us I know, I know you.
- 4:41Well we were kind of spoiled. I've been looking into the way
- 4:45that doctor who was broadcast in Australia and it was weird and
- 4:50random. So for instance I think the
- 4:52initial run of series 10, they didn't show the green death
- 5:00because it got an A rating and adults rating in Australia.
- 5:04And so Joe just disappeared Without a Trace and then we had
- 5:08Sarah is dead. So, Yeah, fair enough.
- 5:11And it was only years later where they resubmitted the green
- 5:14death for reclassification at got G that they showed at, so
- 5:18Doctor Who has Shone out of order and in sort of weird ways,
- 5:21but the advantage was that we saw it a lot.
- 5:25And in fact, I think, I think it might have been series 14 or 15,
- 5:31which was actually shown twice in one year, you know, I think
- 5:38Doctor Who now is all synced, isn't it so well.
- 5:40Who is all that but when it first came back with Chris
- 5:43Erickson, was there a bit of a delay?
- 5:45Yeah there was about a three-month delay was willing to
- 5:48bet your ass for us T Davies. Who remembers his time in the
- 5:5080s where was baking Australians to send o VHS?
- 5:53There's no like one where you going to give me this?
- 5:58I think it might have been the ABC.
- 6:00I think the ABC didn't quite realize how big the show was
- 6:04going to be and they just said, oh well, we'll wait until he
- 6:09whatever shitty. We have on in this time slot
- 6:11finishes and then we'll start showing it.
- 6:14Now, what happens? Is it screens on BBC One and
- 6:20then the moment that it finishes on BBC, One and becomes
- 6:23available on our ketchup service, why?
- 6:27So at, like at, like, 7:00 in the morning, I don't know.
- 6:31My big contractual thing and so, so I would be, I would go into
- 6:35school, hide in my office, shut the door.
- 6:38I was early, right? I wasn't goofing off.
- 6:40Off, I would arrive earlier all sorts and I know and I would
- 6:43watch dr. Doing then I would sort of get
- 6:45on with my day and and because it was Sunday night, which I
- 6:50think was a dreadful mistake for all sorts of reasons.
- 6:55It ended up being Monday night here in Australia and actually
- 6:59turned up on here. So it was the thing that we've
- 7:03got completely, okay, nevermind, I'm going to apologize scrape
- 7:08and I'll never lived in a trailer.
- 7:10The trials and tribulations. Yeah, apparently the joy of
- 7:14these during the 70's and 80's to watch Mega Los Angeles
- 7:17slightly. Okay so Steve Alexander dolls is
- 7:22a proprietary episode 4 as well. Is the scene between good Doctor
- 7:25Who and evil Meg lost Doctor Who as good as it could have been.
- 7:31So kind of seen it yet. Yeah, it's kind of come up.
- 7:35I think Doctor Who has actually tended to do this very badly.
- 7:40It doubles. Yes.
- 7:41Oh, so we can only afford a few seconds or a confrontation
- 7:47between salamander and the doctor heart.
- 7:50We are he's awesome or you. We have been waiting for it but
- 7:54they actually only managed to do it very, very briefly at the end
- 7:57of the final episode. There's no evil persuade, the I
- 8:02think the Android Invasion, which I think is better than
- 8:07most people think it is kind of Rose away, the evil doubles
- 8:12thing. There's a brief confrontation
- 8:13between the doctor isn't there and Android.
- 8:16Dr. Al without a tussle, don't they?
- 8:19Yeah. But it's a formal basis.
- 8:22Yeah. With Tom just?
- 8:24Yeah, yeah. I'll be get shot the.
- 8:26Yeah. Yeah.
- 8:27So that's not so good. And does it ever happen again?
- 8:30Yeah. That is Omega and all the hater.
- 8:34Yeah, that's more pagans to highlight.
- 8:37I think there's one shot of them together.
- 8:39Yeah. And then it's all just well and
- 8:41because he's covered in Rice Krispies or whatever.
- 8:45They just get his body double to play him it for some of that.
- 8:48But Colleen, ever got one and I don't feel go, I did, I McCoy, I
- 8:52should have done so, you know, I think what works really well is
- 9:00that you've got Camp snarling, Tom who I like and then our Tom.
- 9:08Like the doctor distinguishes himself by being more fun.
- 9:13Hmm. Yeah.
- 9:14And I think that that's Tom's overall approach, even back when
- 9:19he was much more serious at the beginning of his Ron, he's job
- 9:22was to be more fum. Zealand.
- 9:24And he always is, and so that contrast becomes particularly
- 9:28Stark. I think when you've got Meg loss
- 9:30in the doctor, both played by Tom and it makes him seem even
- 9:34more fun then, doesn't it when it's highlighted again?
- 9:36Yeah, you know, horrible my dear.
- 9:37I think they Do it with his age bracket as agent 18.
- 9:41But in the Leisure Hive, when they ate him up when he
- 9:44eventually turns up again in episode 4.
- 9:46I just think they look so young. Yeah.
- 9:48And it's actually lovely to have you back.
- 9:51Yeah, it's wonderful. What just very quickly then,
- 9:54Stephen all sorts of little sub-question.
- 9:55Okay. Who would you like to would you
- 9:58like to see more evil Doctor Who and which Incarnation would you
- 10:01most like to see an evil version of?
- 10:05Can I ask that quickly? You your honor Answer is mr.
- 10:09Clever, more mr. Clever big finish spinoff from
- 10:12Nightmare of silver in silver certainly.
- 10:15Not like that was terrible. Just awful.
- 10:18In fact, I would like to see. Oh, no, actually, we would have
- 10:21had it. I was going to say Colin, but
- 10:23basically was evil is wrong. But yeah, I'm gonna get that
- 10:27horrid calling in the one with the evil Ray.
- 10:30You know, the modern ultimate Evil was gonna go around The
- 10:34Shard of glass. Yes.
- 10:36No. That would have been awful.
- 10:37So that would be, maybe more Way then.
- 10:39Yeah. What about the modern doctors?
- 10:41The only one that we've really had is evil.
- 10:43Is is ah, yeah, I mean, would have been nice for Jodie
- 10:49Whittaker, so let loose. Yeah, that's why that's why, you
- 10:54know, I think they miss a trick by kind of completely
- 10:57sidelining, Jodi for huge stretches of her own finale to
- 11:02get Sacha to play her. Yeah, that would've been really
- 11:06would've been really fun for. That's where it was going.
- 11:08Yeah. Yeah, that would have been
- 11:09great. I mean Sasha's, great.
- 11:10So don't complain. Oh, I agree.
- 11:13So should we say Jody? Yep.
- 11:14Jody evil. Jody and congratulations are
- 11:17believe. We may have done a preamble
- 11:19longer than the episode. Should we go all 19 minutes?
- 11:32Three, two, one, and we're off. That's what you said to me
- 11:38earlier. About Tom game, performers
- 11:40moments in the Leisure Hive and Meg loss.
- 11:43I started to think throughout the season.
- 11:44I think it's just every story, full circle.
- 11:47He gets that wonderful bit where you confront them after they try
- 11:50and do SEC. Yeah, I think he does like that.
- 11:54Haunting approach in Warriors gate really well, we always
- 11:59like, do nothing. That's the most, you know, tend
- 12:02to ask Tom Baker to do nothing. If I might have a story.
- 12:04Yeah, State of Decay. Okay, let's just doing this
- 12:09thing as head of the case. Yeah, but brilliantly.
- 12:11Yeah, yeah, yeah, they turned him down.
- 12:14He wanted to come out the a bit where he comes out the Tardis
- 12:18and rallies. All the and rounds of the name
- 12:22of a space. Where does the Shakespeare
- 12:23speech from Henry? The fifth thought about his
- 12:26idea? Was they all throw Spears in and
- 12:28he comes out. The Tardis clutching the lon he
- 12:32got mad at all, how long's are reprise here?
- 12:37In this very short, So did I? Well he's just produced the tiny
- 12:41dodecahedron attack reacting to it.
- 12:50He's my, he's my, he gets the Bonnie Langford award for most
- 12:55surprising superb, performance. Hello.
- 12:58Yeah. I think there's a bit of
- 12:59something in every commentary you've ever done.
- 13:01Yet has made you how I Blaster. It was the spiders in Iraq near
- 13:04to. Yeah, it was the graph indicate.
- 13:06Yeah. I mean all of Delta and
- 13:09abandonment. Yeah, wonderful glorious.
- 13:11I'm glad it's still going on. Yeah, just tell me when this
- 13:14reprieve actually becomes new material.
- 13:16Okay. How far into the episode?
- 13:18We are right here and that will tell us how much new material we
- 13:21get ya. So, we are aware only one minute
- 13:25in or just over one minute is any 17 minutes left?
- 13:28Yeah, if I click here now, I'll stop it.
- 13:30Possibly suggesting that. There is a much to this climax.
- 13:33Yeah, I don't know. It is odd, isn't it?
- 13:36I'm glad I didn't pad it out. Out.
- 13:38But I recently went to the theater and saw a fabulous show
- 13:42called boeing-boeing, right? Which was a set of doors on the
- 13:45stage and it became a massive fall spot over here.
- 13:49I think we just that's it. That's the shot that we go to
- 13:53note. Is that and I, we still got a
- 13:55shot. It's always exciting, isn't he?
- 14:00This is a bit now, you see a look of horror on his face and
- 14:03then someone runs in it. Goes snow off.
- 14:09You don't look happy that rock, you know?
- 14:11Yeah, yeah. Well, no, it doesn't, it looks
- 14:13like polystyrene. I miss worry.
- 14:18I think I said this before. The guy has to clean up after
- 14:21the sacrifices miserable drunk. Ha ha ha.
- 14:26He commits race down the bar with a guy works in the sauna.
- 14:29Yeah, level set their. Did you say they go up on that
- 14:34ramp or Bridge? Yeah, I'm quite a lot because,
- 14:37you know, it's just a bit. Space.
- 14:39Um but yeah so we go back to Boeing Boeing very quickly.
- 14:42It's a series of dolls, they're in and out of doors, it's all
- 14:44very funny. That's basically what this
- 14:46episode becomes by the end. They just rushed from place to
- 14:49place the dodecahedron. And all the technobabble is
- 14:52irrelevant. The farm is basically, who is
- 14:55the doctor in? Yeah, yeah.
- 14:56Well, it's it's the fun thing where the doctor comes in and
- 14:59then he comes in again, you know, why don't we end up?
- 15:03Having two codes does broad attack, get to code, so does it?
- 15:07I can That's right. Wait, no.
- 15:09Now he's done playing a doctor. He's feeling the code.
- 15:16Look, what he's wearing. Max has been like, why I will
- 15:25write everything come on, but like the actual, the nuts and
- 15:31bolts of this conclusion. It's all just nonsense.
- 15:36Isn't it? Like is it sort of pain?
- 15:38Anto. But it's fun.
- 15:39Like I like we're going to put the dodecahedron in here.
- 15:42He plans to what be me off the Shields and Destroy planets or
- 15:47something. Selah.
- 15:48The fact that we are neither one of us knows and yet we've seen
- 15:50this it's got a he gets a big space thing which can fire beams
- 15:54at beings, is it? So.
- 15:57But what they do then is, they do the Tom player Meg loss at
- 16:01make laws play in the doggy? Yeah, that is.
- 16:07There's nothing more dogs who than this Tom Baker is holding
- 16:10up this Dreadful little processing.
- 16:12The possibilities are absolutely very funny and then there's me
- 16:37How did and it was my turn to stand in the middle of the
- 16:40circle and you start the skit and I couldn't think of
- 16:43anything. So I did that.
- 16:45I held up my hand and when infinite possibilities, it was
- 16:50just sort of looking at me like I'm standing by The Shield's
- 16:58there. I mean, it was Because he's
- 17:09hoping a dodecahedron, tree, will grow.
- 17:12Hmm. See doing that.
- 17:15How applies I think? I think that was the idea
- 17:18because you see the live in the comes up and then the screen is
- 17:22just sort of, although it bounces the light and then the
- 17:24heart says, the power, I think. Yeah.
- 17:27Yeah. And he wasn't able to Galaxy or
- 17:30something. We're super boring easily.
- 17:33It should just hang out with a gas tax.
- 17:34Is much more fun, but yeah, brought a date.
- 17:36Going on about the code and he's the best.
- 17:46Fuck is going on, just give me that coat.
- 17:50Now these minutes here of these 18 minutes or so at least one
- 17:57minute. He's 16.
- 17:58A shot that leaves us with 15 minutes only 30 minutes from the
- 18:04end. But that looks great.
- 18:09I just think that model looks so good.
- 18:10I mean it looks like a model like what the fuck?
- 18:12We know it's a model. We know it's not a real space
- 18:14thing but it's more effort than they've ever gone to.
- 18:17I think I think they've got a good sense of scale so it feels
- 18:20like yeah. You know without don't do the
- 18:22thing, they don't do the thing where they shoot the model from
- 18:24above. That's the absolute problem.
- 18:27That's why, you know, the oil rig.
- 18:32Yeah. You know like that, like shoot
- 18:34it from the living room into a storm, right?
- 18:36So here we go. There goes like sir.
- 18:38So that guy who we thought was dead, he's on the ground.
- 18:41He wakes up just long enough to shoot lexer for no reason at
- 18:44all, and then he dies. That's terribly pathetic.
- 18:50Like, she just ripped through are Monica's.
- 18:52She saved my life. Did she just go robot?
- 18:56He does. Yes, she did.
- 18:57And she is absolutely. She's done with now, in terms of
- 19:02plot. Yeah, we can't think of anything
- 19:03for hope no more sacrifices to be done.
- 19:05So, it, What if the other thing they could have done is they
- 19:09could have made her sacrifice herself in some meaningful way.
- 19:15In order to, you know, bring about this new society that
- 19:20we're building on together, but we don't give a shit about that
- 19:22because we're too busy making what I think are pretty fabulous
- 19:26jokes about the code, like lots of stuff like that but it could
- 19:30have been more interesting. Lovely moment in the very last
- 19:34episode of Buffy, where Spike sacrifice himself in a Golden
- 19:37Light. Yeah, yeah, love you some of
- 19:40that we're not going to have that between legs ready.
- 19:42Hell, you know, I love Nirvana and goes off in a beam of light,
- 19:46but that sort of thing. Yeah.
- 19:47Something big. You know, something that matters
- 19:49is this even a planet there behind the screen.
- 19:51Oh, that was the Moon. That was in the, in the earlier
- 19:54shots. It looks really good or it might
- 19:56be imagine if it's to gallery. And I would like to point out.
- 19:59There is a story in the next season.
- 20:00The ends also with a series of screens and an enormous pink
- 20:05snake, I have anywhere Nikki, it's a better story but it is a
- 20:11better story but it's true. Let's say the execution is a
- 20:13little worse. Yeah, I like it when they
- 20:15replace it with shitty CGI. Snake in the special feature.
- 20:21Looks like that one, you know? It's a bit fuzzy but it is it
- 20:25couldn't get worse. So his powers By the site for
- 20:37you guys patients, it's actually wonderful watching Tom, watch
- 20:42his own performance because you know, Tom is someone that you
- 20:45think is always on the same like, Katie Manning, you know,
- 20:48like you think they're always on, they're always doing a bit,
- 20:51they're always playing a part. And in fact, in, I think that
- 20:55they're sat there for so long in behind the sofa that you
- 21:00actually do see moments of actual genuine reaction for
- 21:04sure. And some of Tom's reaction,
- 21:06Sounds like because you just you know, Tom when he was in this,
- 21:09he didn't read them, you know, pages of the script that he
- 21:13wasn't even, you know? Like it was all about him and
- 21:17now he said of watches himself doing fantastic performance
- 21:21moments things that we really like and he kind of laughed at
- 21:25himself is if he's tired of being a massive ham, it isn't
- 21:28that funny. And I think like it's not, you
- 21:31know, it's not an anti great Barrister.
- 21:33Is it is but it is Also, not kind of going, I'm really
- 21:39fantastic either. I mean he laughs it in the way
- 21:42that we laugh at it, you know, like he did Tom doesn't do a
- 21:45naturalistic performance and never does but he does just a
- 21:48compellingly interesting Cavallo.
- 21:51Imagine that a naturalistic performers from Tom by know
- 21:55what. It would just be this weird.
- 21:59Okay. So make loss has gone out.
- 22:01Yeah, brought an exact screen now.
- 22:03The doctors come in, but pretending Evening gloves, fuck.
- 22:07He's hit the deck and just go. So I say I like his coat.
- 22:16There we go, all day. So we're blowing up together.
- 22:18Well, it's like the rhydian. Three is.
- 22:20What are we doing that? Well, we've met some people.
- 22:25We really gave a shit about is dead now.
- 22:27I like Karis as well. Oh, okay.
- 22:29Yeah, she's pretty great. And there is another coat and it
- 22:33looks like he's Games been rumbled.
- 22:36Then let me come from God. Did everything but stare at the
- 22:39fuck. Yeah.
- 22:41Hanna Barbera style go. Oh, we're old non-speaking,
- 22:46guys. Tag has just walked out of shot.
- 22:50These people are standing around doing nothing.
- 22:51See, this is sort of the lighting of the Leisure Hive but
- 22:54sort of not that as well. No, it's just not as well.
- 22:56They're, they're trying to suggest that, you know, the
- 22:58great parent that they take a whole thing.
- 23:00Yeah. But it doesn't like a, you know,
- 23:02a spotlight in the studio know it, then Tom immediately.
- 23:06Look at that. I'm smiling.
- 23:07He just immediately says, no, you can have one code each.
- 23:10You've done such a good job. So, for a moment, his he looks
- 23:13like he's been sprung and then he just sort of tries to charm
- 23:16his way through it. Even these bloody Pirates can't
- 23:21do a countdown without sort of gern enough to screen.
- 23:24Okay. $50 is where they realize they've been outfoxed and by the
- 23:33activating the thing is going to blow up this base.
- 23:35That there is yeah. A huge product
- 23:49and you just get this sort of excited response from product
- 23:54and the and the subtitles are slobbering appropriate.
- 24:02Be right there and at the climax that countdown, you get Maple of
- 24:06just going, no kind of loss and they're gonna punch him in the
- 24:14stomach. And I think Meg loss is now the
- 24:16doctor. No, I think.
- 24:18No, no, I think I'm grogger thinks that still thinks the
- 24:22doctor is Meg glass. And he says, go and put him in
- 24:25the thing. We don't need him anymore.
- 24:27I chose punch both of them. Now, I'll show ya where we get
- 24:29our confrontation. This is Steven, I think this is
- 24:32a nice seeing, you know, because he's actually a little bit under
- 24:35played by both of them have to be super evil.
- 24:41Yeah. See the confusion.
- 24:49These guys are just they've got nothing to do during these 18
- 24:53minutes, do they? But these are your drinks.
- 24:54Lalla, Ward Harris, particularly good.
- 24:56Peering around a corner acting, there's in a terrific peering
- 24:59around the corner. It's just a lot of it Warriors
- 25:02gate you know and climbing climbing for holes in spaceships
- 25:05the hair helps to sell and I think Hmm.
- 25:08Okay. So real big confrontation now
- 25:11I'm sure we're going to get, you know, probing psychological
- 25:14explanation as to why Meg lost wants to destroy tie, Gala
- 25:19problem was it revenge for what did they steal all the cactuses?
- 25:24I am taking away his family. Do they take the dodecahedron?
- 25:27I can't remember. There was a lot of foliage on
- 25:29time. Yeah.
- 25:34So, it's well, that's a good shot where you've got, Tom, just
- 25:37his right arm in the foreground. Did you hear what?
- 25:41Regular said they probably won't even hit Target.
- 26:09So they say, it's a shame to blow up a whole planet just
- 26:12count on blauser how win the war.
- 26:13I think he does, you know, he hasn't done anything for like no
- 26:16but he hasn't found out about yet been kicked or you know oh
- 26:20no. That's been kicked, doesn't it?
- 26:21Yeah, not. Not today though.
- 26:24I've seen things happen over the fellow.
- 26:26He's a morning morning. The place is Contracting.
- 26:29You know, you get out of it basic canine saying the entire
- 26:31plot. Yeah, because he sounds like an
- 26:33idiot. No one's listening to.
- 26:34Yes, that's right. A fella piece of Frozen.
- 26:37Was it? But he goes, it's a highlighter.
- 27:07Let me put me back in school reunions and they gave him a
- 27:10proper laser called. Yeah.
- 27:12During the krillitanes. Yeah.
- 27:14Circle. Yeah, so good.
- 27:17Why'd you want to control the universe?
- 27:18Why? Yeah, I mean it baffles me is.
- 27:21Ha ha, ha. Twitter for everyone where he
- 27:52could just be snorting cocaine. Off a series of supermodels
- 27:55every day for the rest of his life.
- 27:57You haven't ruined the farm. He hoped that.
- 27:59No young people, throw that bit of snob but slides across the
- 28:05floor. When Janet Fielding for she goes
- 28:08I can see the fishing line. Get out.
- 28:10Said good things about special effects in this.
- 28:12But that is crap out what she's American oil and so, yeah, it is
- 28:20a big crap but I love this where it sort of sneaks in behind
- 28:24them, instead of climbs into the cactus.
- 28:28I mean, that is cab, isn't it a bit of a bit of slime running in
- 28:32going? No, stop it.
- 28:46You can see it being pulled by you're thinking of cause of Acts
- 28:50or swear. There's that guy under a duvet.
- 28:53Oh yes even came adding is but oh well it is Richard Franklin,
- 28:57don't mind it but you know man under a duvet with a cactus is
- 29:02back. Yeah.
- 29:03It crawled into the cactus materialize.
- 29:10Then we see. Going on behind that
- 29:13dodecahedron is doing his thing. That looks great, though, their
- 29:16Shields are reflecting it on and like all good Doctor Who stories
- 29:21it ends with a big big explosion are now.
- 29:23We're saying goodbye disaster, okay.
- 29:25Okay. Let's just see what looks so
- 29:27you're gonna do some gardening. Oh this gal you think that
- 29:32stopped them from being on the surface just that aggressive
- 29:34vegetable. Ash aggressive vegetation that
- 29:36for some underground scene that they're beautiful.
- 29:44So we're going to do some gardening and we're going to get
- 29:51we get a little crap joke here, where that's quite good, though.
- 29:56I can get you back before you even, you know, on this on the
- 30:00Blake seven scale. I'll say it's in the, in the
- 30:02upper echelon, but it doesn't have anyone laughing at it.
- 30:05I think a crap joke where you just get a sort of Boggle
- 30:08reaction from that strange. Looking guy.
- 30:11We've just A ton of fetuses, I mean, a nursery of 1,000.
- 30:15Can you imagine what? I'm going to say the sorry to do
- 30:20this but not on keros and diedrichs they get married and
- 30:26that's still performs the ceremony, okay?
- 30:28You know, I think that could happen without any people, we
- 30:30know on this planet. And then a cult of people who
- 30:32worship Jackie hill come in, come in and sacrifice a bunch of
- 30:37people. You know, how during the
- 30:40wedding. It's like the Red Wedding.
- 30:41Oh, Mabel clothes and they're all, they're all executed on the
- 30:45wedding day. Okay.
- 30:46Happy ending me. See.
- 30:48Okay, well, I have more questions.
- 30:50We do. You know, we do, I'm going to
- 30:52pull them up now but you need to talk to people, are you want me
- 30:57to Vamp? Yes, please.
- 30:58Well, we going into full circle part 1.
- 31:00So there will be some bombs in transparent.
- 31:05Yes. Well, that's what twink bombs
- 31:07aren't. Ya were allowed to enjoy them.
- 31:09No, no, no. But that he agreed, wait.
- 31:17Well it's not quite Tomorrow People levels of kind of the
- 31:20Twigs are like the Galactic Federation.
- 31:23Yeah, all right quiet. Okay so I've got the questions
- 31:27here. Here we go.
- 31:30Justin Bush comments. Hello Justin.
- 31:32That's not a never recognized instant hello.
- 31:34Justin. Right.
- 31:35Just that this is one of my comfort Doctor Who stories.
- 31:39I've always loved it as our dramatic, funny.
- 31:41Sci-fi fantasy nonsense. That's just a wild romp of a
- 31:44tail. One of my guilty, pleasure
- 31:46Doctor Who stories really just a new have my pleasure to feel no
- 31:50guilt about this at all. Exactly what this is and I think
- 31:54it's what its intended to be. So that's terrific.
- 31:57That's so great. This is what this fellas a good
- 32:00ship Shug stuff. Ya know we have interacted with
- 32:04him before I think and being that Tom was infamously grumpy
- 32:08during this time. Can you just imagine how our see
- 32:11he was When I told him about the cactus makeup, he didn't call
- 32:15them a bunch of Pricks and it was a wasted opportunity.
- 32:18Yeah. I think that, I think that Tom
- 32:21is like, Tommy's really famously.
- 32:24Perhaps at his worst this season in State of Decay, according to
- 32:27pay them off at that was speed them off.
- 32:30It isn't it? Yes.
- 32:31Yeah. That was when he was kind of at
- 32:33his most terrible, and I think, I think Matthew Waterhouse says
- 32:38that to and in his autobiography, Effie.
- 32:42But I can't help thinking that Tom had been so used to just
- 32:47kind of gliding through the episodes relying on his
- 32:50considerable charm and Charisma that being forced to act in this
- 32:55episode under makeup and in the previous episode under makeup, I
- 32:59think he would have absolutely been losing his shit at that.
- 33:04I just think he was just, I mean, if you seen the footage
- 33:06behind the scenes, and I'll take this fucking dreary prop and
- 33:10throw it for hard science or indeed the J&T ambition for no
- 33:23one else's question. Yeah, maybe we did this think I
- 33:25have actually chill out. Okay, as I mentioned a few times
- 33:28on who back when I am terrified of walking and moving plants and
- 33:33he puts in It's Isa to hot house which is a big finish.
- 33:36Audio was annoyed ever boys. They terrify me make loss isn't
- 33:40quite as bad but still makes me a bit nervous.
- 33:42Otherwise it's amazing to see Jacqueline Heel back, but wasted
- 33:46sadly. Yeah, I don't think she's
- 33:48wasted. I mean, she has a major role so
- 33:52that's John. David isn't she has a major
- 33:55role. I think that we get enough air,
- 33:58I, you know, we talked about what we thought of her death as
- 34:01a character but No, she's great. We've also talked about how that
- 34:06role model gone down with a less sophisticated actress in the
- 34:09role. It would have been much thing.
- 34:12And finally Jet Jaguar and is made up band.
- 34:17Oh, a dark side Arc. Let's say Adept at heart.
- 34:21Yeah, okay. Does that mean I have no idea.
- 34:23It promises a lot. Everyone seems to hate Meg lost.
- 34:26Nowadays will not us know. So my question would be it's if
- 34:30it's so bad. Why was five-year-old me so
- 34:33fucking Terrifying genuinely started having nightmares about
- 34:37cactuses after this one. I know that sounds terrible and
- 34:39traumatic, but I'm really happy about this.
- 34:42That's right about Doctor Who is for, isn't it?
- 34:45Every allow you to know, I'm a yeah.
- 34:47But I'm glad it could still do that even when it's trying to be
- 34:51terribly serious, all their moments.
- 34:54Laura, the working eighteen other.
- 34:56Like the own sort of, as good as sort of Hinchcliffe horror.
- 34:59I don't know what about the doctor being torn apart in the
- 35:02Cliffhanger to Leisure like to it's a boy, isn't it?
- 35:06Yeah, I think there's moments as a weird.
- 35:10Sort of Weiss is a fine line between comedy and horror when
- 35:15the ferals being electrocuted or no.
- 35:17That's not why he's acting off. But a look at wait, we brought
- 35:22boxes now showing us near naked, boys, swimming through the
- 35:26River. Circle, is actually really look
- 35:30like have those boys, you have
