- 0:00Speaker 1: Sure are we rolling? All right? We are here Bootleg
- 0:05Speaker 1: cap Podcast. It's been a long time, man. I want
- 0:08Speaker 1: to say, the last time we did an interview was
- 0:10Speaker 1: in twenty seventeen. Was that like four years. It's been
- 0:14Speaker 1: a while and we've seen each other. We talk a lot,
- 0:16Speaker 1: you know, but as far as like actually sitting down
- 0:18Speaker 1: having a conversation, it's been a long time. Man. You
- 0:20Speaker 1: did a whole season of Bernard's Roundtable. Yeah. I tried.
- 0:23Speaker 1: I tried. I tried it out, man, and it was great.
- 0:26Speaker 1: It was good. You know, it was good. I actually
- 0:29Speaker 1: really enjoyed it. I just you know, you guys use
- 0:32Speaker 1: your time like as you know, best as you can.
- 0:34Speaker 1: I don't know if that was well received. I'm glad
- 0:36Speaker 1: you liked it. I'm to do it again. I love
- 0:38Speaker 1: the Tommy Chong episode. Yeah, that was good. That was
- 0:41Speaker 1: a good one. It was good. Now. You know, it's
- 0:44Speaker 1: funny because I just was watching an interview with Joe
- 0:46Speaker 1: Rogan one of his episodes, and he was saying, like
- 0:50Speaker 1: the guy on the show was trying to convince him
- 0:52Speaker 1: to do NFTs, and Joe was like, I don't have
- 0:53Speaker 1: time for this shit. Like all the time I have
- 0:55Speaker 1: like has to be you know, allocateds wisely. You know
- 1:00Speaker 1: what I mean. Pick, you gotta pick your projects. I mean,
- 1:02Speaker 1: people have been getting at me about NFTs every day,
- 1:05Speaker 1: and it's like every every day a new homie figures
- 1:07Speaker 1: out what the NFT is and calls me this master plan.
- 1:10Speaker 1: It's kind of like the CBD joke, Like I got it.
- 1:12Speaker 1: I got a great idea, let's start a CBD company,
- 1:14Speaker 1: like everyone everyone has a CBD company. Yeah, you know,
- 1:17Speaker 1: so I don't know about the NFT shit. I just
- 1:19Speaker 1: don't understand it, and I don't want to do something
- 1:21Speaker 1: for my audience that doesn't make sense. If I can
- 1:23Speaker 1: make it makes sense for me up here, then I'll
- 1:26Speaker 1: do it. But I just don't understand it. Bro, Well,
- 1:29Speaker 1: you know what, I think you do a great job
- 1:30Speaker 1: of that I don't do a good job of. And
- 1:33Speaker 1: that's like you have so much shit going on, so
- 1:37Speaker 1: many companies. You got your music, but I always feel
- 1:40Speaker 1: like you do a great job of balancing family and work.
- 1:44Speaker 1: You got to how did you figure it? Like that's
- 1:47Speaker 1: not an easy thing to figure out how to do? Like,
- 1:48Speaker 1: how did you? How do you do that? So? Well? Well,
- 1:51Speaker 1: I just know that like at the end of the day,
- 1:53Speaker 1: our kids only know what we teach him. And you know,
- 1:56Speaker 1: like I just I really love my kids, I love
- 1:59Speaker 1: the family, and I just try to That's like, actually
- 2:01Speaker 1: the balance I need to keep going because as spread
- 2:04Speaker 1: then as I am, bro, like, I'll burn out sooner
- 2:06Speaker 1: or later. So like it's good to like be able
- 2:09Speaker 1: to just turn the phone off and just focus on
- 2:11Speaker 1: family and people respect it now in my circle, when
- 2:13Speaker 1: I'm with the kids and when I'm with the fam,
- 2:14Speaker 1: they just know that it's the balance I need to
- 2:16Speaker 1: keep working like this. It's stuff to work like this, bro,
- 2:19Speaker 1: super super draining, Nah dude, especially like however, you figured
- 2:24Speaker 1: out how to keep everything going while it's also kind
- 2:27Speaker 1: of being off the map during COVID because for people
- 2:28Speaker 1: who don't know you were kind of you was duck
- 2:31Speaker 1: ducked off up North. They're ghosted during COVID, But yet
- 2:35Speaker 1: you were still making shit happen, Like there were still
- 2:37Speaker 1: grand openings happening, and you know of cookie stores all
- 2:40Speaker 1: over the country, like we did new music. We you know,
- 2:44Speaker 1: kept a clothing rocking. I think that at the end
- 2:46Speaker 1: of the day, like COVID was a big test mentally
- 2:48Speaker 1: for people to see like can you keep it cracking?
- 2:50Speaker 1: You know what I mean? Can you keep your sanity?
- 2:52Speaker 1: Can you? And it's tough, man, Like we took the
- 2:54Speaker 1: precautions before we sat down, you know, And that's the
- 2:56Speaker 1: way I move it now. Like I got eight tests
- 2:58Speaker 1: in my backpack, you know, each test kit got too.
- 3:01Speaker 1: If I see this one, they got to take a test.
- 3:02Speaker 1: I think it is the best most responsible thing to do.
- 3:05Speaker 1: Whether it's accurate or not, it's a good peace of
- 3:06Speaker 1: mind because we can't treat people like geranis man. It's
- 3:09Speaker 1: just like it's getting weird. So for me, that's been
- 3:12Speaker 1: the best. Like now that the tests are more available
- 3:14Speaker 1: at Walgreens and whatnot, I've been able to move around
- 3:16Speaker 1: a little more. But yeah, COVID was rough, bro, and
- 3:18Speaker 1: I just bought a house and the cuts and just
- 3:20Speaker 1: chilled out for as long as I could. And I
- 3:23Speaker 1: think that like it really like let people understand life
- 3:26Speaker 1: is precious and you got to pick your circles, you
- 3:27Speaker 1: know what I mean. Yeah, you've been extremely cautious with
- 3:31Speaker 1: the COVID shit, a lot more cautious than some of
- 3:33Speaker 1: your counterparts maybe in the hip hop game, right, Like
- 3:35Speaker 1: what what's the motivation? Behind that. I mean, my uncles
- 3:38Speaker 1: died from two of them, and like you know, I
- 3:40Speaker 1: look at my texts every other day to remind myself,
- 3:42Speaker 1: you know, he was just fine like me and you were,
- 3:45Speaker 1: and then was like I'm going to hospital and then
- 3:47Speaker 1: from the hospitals like yo, they're gonna put me on
- 3:49Speaker 1: this machine and die. And so it's like it happens
- 3:52Speaker 1: like that, you know what I mean. And so I've
- 3:54Speaker 1: seen a lot of people struggle for it, and I
- 3:56Speaker 1: think that people that lost people to COVID, it hits
- 3:58Speaker 1: a little harder, hits home. My Grammar died man exactly,
- 4:01Speaker 1: and so like you know, I've just been bro. I've
- 4:04Speaker 1: always been paranoid though, but that's why, you know, I'm
- 4:06Speaker 1: always worried. That's why I've never been you know, never
- 4:09Speaker 1: been to jail. I never. I've always moved a certain way,
- 4:12Speaker 1: and I think that's what got me where I'm at. Bro,
- 4:14Speaker 1: just being cautious, but at the same time, like understanding,
- 4:16Speaker 1: you still got to move, you know what I mean,
- 4:18Speaker 1: So just move right. Yeah, that's real. I think, Uh,
- 4:21Speaker 1: it's been a weird like unfortunately, like COVID, I feel
- 4:24Speaker 1: like also as originally I feel like it was politics
- 4:27Speaker 1: that was dividing people, and that kind of leaked into
- 4:31Speaker 1: COVID dividing people. I believe COVID is a way bigger
- 4:34Speaker 1: agenda than what we see it as right now. It's
- 4:37Speaker 1: it's a very big agenda too, in my opinion, and
- 4:40Speaker 1: we won't dive into it too deep, but I feel
- 4:42Speaker 1: like it's an attack on you know, US as as
- 4:45Speaker 1: a civilization, but also like US as America too. I
- 4:47Speaker 1: think they're trying to cripple our fucking our economy and
- 4:50Speaker 1: just us as people. You have to understand COVID is
- 4:53Speaker 1: more of a mental thing than it is anything. It's
- 4:55Speaker 1: really like, when you get COVID, you're by yourself. You
- 4:57Speaker 1: have to isolate, you have to sociate. It's like just
- 5:00Speaker 1: fucking with your head elo much. And the way I
- 5:02Speaker 1: look at it now was like, all right, look, my
- 5:04Speaker 1: kids are back in school. I'll take the risk for that.
- 5:07Speaker 1: I mean, let them go back to school, let them
- 5:08Speaker 1: enjoy their life, let them chill with their friends, let
- 5:10Speaker 1: them play sports. If I'm gonna get this shit, I'm
- 5:13Speaker 1: gonna get it from the house, but I'll take the
- 5:15Speaker 1: precautions when I'm out and about. For sure, got too
- 5:18Speaker 1: let's go back burn like, you know, for people who
- 5:22Speaker 1: don't know where did you start at when it comes
- 5:24Speaker 1: to making music and getting into the weed game from
- 5:28Speaker 1: the jump, Yeah, and I mean music. Always been a
- 5:30Speaker 1: fan of music, and that's why I still make it.
- 5:32Speaker 1: I don't make music because it makes me better. I
- 5:34Speaker 1: don't think I'm the best musician. I'm a fan of it.
- 5:36Speaker 1: I love to put records together. So I start off
- 5:38Speaker 1: musically by battle rapping and frisco at this coffee shop
- 5:43Speaker 1: on Hate Street. Let's go there and battle wrap cats
- 5:46Speaker 1: and had fun with it and used to battle rap
- 5:48Speaker 1: out the people and just I mean, I don't even
- 5:50Speaker 1: think a lot of people know that, but that's how
- 5:52Speaker 1: I started fucking with it. And then from there I
- 5:55Speaker 1: met some cool producers, and you know, I had an
- 5:58Speaker 1: a track at the time. I was making music on
- 5:59Speaker 1: my garage in Arizona. I told the story before a
- 6:03Speaker 1: couple of times, but I was in a continuation school
- 6:05Speaker 1: in Arizona. A kid approached me and he was kind
- 6:07Speaker 1: of like this where I first started before going to Frisco.
- 6:11Speaker 1: He tried to convince me. He's like, yo, you look
- 6:13Speaker 1: like a rapper. You'd probably be a dope rapper spit
- 6:16Speaker 1: some I'm like, spit what, Like, how do you do it?
- 6:18Speaker 1: He like, spit a little freestyle got me do it
- 6:20Speaker 1: was whack. It's like, man, I think you should buy
- 6:22Speaker 1: my equipment. You should buy my little a track or
- 6:24Speaker 1: it was a four track or whatever it was. It
- 6:27Speaker 1: was like not even that actually was like a karaoke
- 6:29Speaker 1: setup type thing. He's like, you can record music, you
- 6:31Speaker 1: put the beat, you wrap on the mic, you can
- 6:33Speaker 1: make your own shop. Like really, So I went asked
- 6:35Speaker 1: my mom for the money. She was kind of against it,
- 6:38Speaker 1: but gave it. He was like two hundred three hundred
- 6:39Speaker 1: bucks or something. I bought it off him, and I
- 6:41Speaker 1: remember watching him go brad to his friends that he
- 6:43Speaker 1: upgraded to a four track or a track. So I
- 6:46Speaker 1: was like, ah, motherfucker kind of played me, but I
- 6:48Speaker 1: started playing with it. So start out just fucking around
- 6:51Speaker 1: the garage in Arizona, hundred and ten degree fucking garage,
- 6:54Speaker 1: serious heat, and I told my mom. I was like, look,
- 6:57Speaker 1: if I want to take this music shit seriously, I
- 6:59Speaker 1: got to get back to debaby. She moved back to
- 7:00Speaker 1: the Bay Area because where we were fum. That's why
- 7:02Speaker 1: the independent music game is as JT was doing his thing,
- 7:06Speaker 1: go To was doing there, everyone was there. I just seen,
- 7:10Speaker 1: like you know forty, I was like, I'm never gonna
- 7:12Speaker 1: make music here in Arizona. I think my mom was supported.
- 7:15Speaker 1: I was like, let's let's go move back to the Bay. Then. Fuck,
- 7:17Speaker 1: So your mom actually made the decision to move back
- 7:21Speaker 1: to the Bay based on you wanted to pursue music. Yeah,
- 7:25Speaker 1: that's huge. That's that's a big gamble on her part
- 7:28Speaker 1: as as an adult because she changed everything. She changed
- 7:31Speaker 1: like her work path, like everything she was doing, she
- 7:33Speaker 1: just switched up for that, which is dope as fun.
- 7:35Speaker 1: What year did your mom pass? Twenty ten? So she
- 7:40Speaker 1: kind of got to see like the beginning of this
- 7:42Speaker 1: starting to really work out. Yeah, she started like right
- 7:44Speaker 1: like she saw up until like she saw weekend at Bernie.
- 7:48Speaker 1: She saw like ship like that, and I think like
- 7:51Speaker 1: she didn't see the she didn't see Yoko the White album. Now,
- 7:54Speaker 1: she didn't see Yoka and all that stuff now, but
- 7:56Speaker 1: she at least she saw that there was like she
- 7:58Speaker 1: saw that's dope, man. She used to teach workout classes
- 8:01Speaker 1: to my ship. Wow, you know, water aerobics classes to
- 8:05Speaker 1: my shit, and you know, my shit ain't nothing to
- 8:06Speaker 1: teaching no fucking aerobics, right right, right, right, right, hilarious. Actually,
- 8:10Speaker 1: that's that's funny. And then what about, like, you know,
- 8:14Speaker 1: the weed shit. Obviously, you know you talk about it
- 8:16Speaker 1: in your wraps all the time, and but but when
- 8:19Speaker 1: did you kind of start to become like serious when
- 8:22Speaker 1: it came to just the weed shit, because obviously it
- 8:25Speaker 1: all starts from a place where it's trapping and then
- 8:28Speaker 1: it evolves down love of weed. And I was like,
- 8:29Speaker 1: I gotta do this, you know, no matter what it is,
- 8:32Speaker 1: from doing what I was doing when I was younger
- 8:35Speaker 1: to getting into the dispensary stuff to you know, when
- 8:38Speaker 1: I was just working at a dispensary, you were doing
- 8:40Speaker 1: security a dispensary something, right. I got hired as like
- 8:43Speaker 1: a kind of like an intake person, like you know,
- 8:46Speaker 1: people show up, I check their doctor letter and make
- 8:48Speaker 1: sure it's official, call the doctor check, buzz them into
- 8:51Speaker 1: the main area where they go buy the weed, and
- 8:53Speaker 1: then move me into like we actually like sell the weed.
- 8:56Speaker 1: I was a bud tender and then went from there
- 8:58Speaker 1: to a buyer. And that's when I really fell with
- 9:00Speaker 1: the shit talking to all the vendors and the growers
- 9:02Speaker 1: and seeing different strains and whatnot. Then to a manager
- 9:05Speaker 1: running the shop. And it's funny because people would come
- 9:08Speaker 1: in fans in the music and couldn't believe I just
- 9:10Speaker 1: worked there. They thought I owned it, and so so
- 9:13Speaker 1: people would be fucking with your music, come to the
- 9:14Speaker 1: dispensary and then they see you and they'd be like, oh,
- 9:16Speaker 1: this is Burner Spot, but you were was my shop.
- 9:18Speaker 1: I just was fucking working there because I loved it,
- 9:20Speaker 1: And as my music career got bigger and bigger, I
- 9:23Speaker 1: had to commit less and less time to working there
- 9:25Speaker 1: and eventually just figured out how to do my own thing,
- 9:27Speaker 1: you know. So yeah, because like with cookies, like I remember,
- 9:31Speaker 1: like I remember, like the first time I me and
- 9:35Speaker 1: you met was it was in two thousand and thirteen
- 9:38Speaker 1: at south By, But before that, it might we might
- 9:42Speaker 1: have met before that in Phoenix. I don't know if
- 9:44Speaker 1: that was before or after you and Chevy did that
- 9:46Speaker 1: little tour run. Yeah, but I remember there was like
- 9:50Speaker 1: a world Star video of you and some like Asian
- 9:53Speaker 1: Chick where you were having to do interesting things with smoke.
- 9:56Speaker 1: A lot of people, a lot of people don't know
- 9:58Speaker 1: why I did that. I'm not proud of that shit.
- 10:01Speaker 1: And I always joke about that she's gonna come back
- 10:03Speaker 1: and ham me shout out to Suki. And there was
- 10:05Speaker 1: one before her too, But like, so we're the first
- 10:09Speaker 1: ones ever put a hashpen in front of the world, Like,
- 10:12Speaker 1: no one's ever seen what everyone uses now, the vapens.
- 10:15Speaker 1: I was the first. We're the first crew to ever
- 10:17Speaker 1: show that off. Like my my guys invented that shit, right,
- 10:21Speaker 1: it was before anyone seen it. And I was trying
- 10:24Speaker 1: to figure out way to get equity in the company.
- 10:26Speaker 1: I'm like, Yo, this shits about to be a game. Shit,
- 10:27Speaker 1: this is fucking twenty ninetyes. Shit hit it fucking hash
- 10:30Speaker 1: in a pen? What the fuck? Yeah, And so they
- 10:34Speaker 1: didn't really understand the reach I had, and I knew
- 10:36Speaker 1: the Internet and promotion or whatever. And it's a World
- 10:39Speaker 1: Star era too. Yeah, so this is when World Stars cracking.
- 10:42Speaker 1: And so they're like, look, if you can get this
- 10:43Speaker 1: an amazing around amount of promotion, you know, we consider
- 10:47Speaker 1: bringing you as a partner. I'm like, all right, So
- 10:49Speaker 1: I just thought the Stone Girl's gone wild and I
- 10:51Speaker 1: just did it, and they hit like millions of views
- 10:53Speaker 1: the same day. And I was like, is this good enough?
- 10:55Speaker 1: And they were so fucking mad. They're like, dude, what
- 10:58Speaker 1: the fuck would you do that for? But every one
- 11:00Speaker 1: wanted to depend after that, so you know, they're like, well,
- 11:04Speaker 1: you did that once, you can't pull it off again.
- 11:06Speaker 1: I'm like, shit, I already got an idea. And I
- 11:10Speaker 1: met Suki in the strip club and I was like, yo,
- 11:13Speaker 1: you want to be famous? And she was like how.
- 11:15Speaker 1: I'm like, should probably be better if I just holler
- 11:18Speaker 1: at you outside here, and I followed at her and
- 11:20Speaker 1: I was like, look, you're gonna smoke this pen with
- 11:21Speaker 1: your ass and she's like, you're fucking nuts. I was like,
- 11:24Speaker 1: I bet you goes viral and I bet you shit
- 11:26Speaker 1: goes crazy and she's like, we were I remember, never forget.
- 11:30Speaker 1: We're at lunch and she asked the wagers like, man, man,
- 11:34Speaker 1: if I smoked this pen with my ass on camera,
- 11:36Speaker 1: does that make me a horn? It's like a horror no,
- 11:38Speaker 1: but it's pretty fucking weird. It's like where I could
- 11:40Speaker 1: deal with. So you know, should shout out to Suki?
- 11:44Speaker 1: That shit went platinum. Drake dm me because of that. Wow,
- 11:47Speaker 1: Drake shot me a damn. I'm like Yo, you're a
- 11:49Speaker 1: wild man, you know. Pull up to me at the
- 11:51Speaker 1: model video. I'm in the bay. I'm like, damn that
- 11:53Speaker 1: full seen that ship. So it is what it is, man,
- 11:56Speaker 1: that ship did what it did? You know? Yo? Like
- 12:00Speaker 1: story behind Cookies because Cookies has become I mean weed aside.
- 12:07Speaker 1: I feel like it's the best seller at Zoomies. It's
- 12:09Speaker 1: got to be. I mean every time I go to Zoomies,
- 12:11Speaker 1: I mean front of the window all over the country.
- 12:15Speaker 1: The clothing line itself has just became its own monster man,
- 12:18Speaker 1: like it's it's it's dope as fuck because I never
- 12:21Speaker 1: thought it would last as long. You see clothing lines
- 12:24Speaker 1: kind of like rise and yeah always we ain't dead, bro,
- 12:26Speaker 1: We're still going. And I think there's so much more growth.
- 12:28Speaker 1: And I think the reason why it's popping is because
- 12:30Speaker 1: clothes are dope. The accessories are dope. It's innovative, it's
- 12:33Speaker 1: it's fly, looks clean, it's not too much like and
- 12:37Speaker 1: like I did it the right way, Like I never,
- 12:39Speaker 1: like I watched clothing companies back in the days just
- 12:41Speaker 1: send huge boxes to people and I never did that, bro,
- 12:44Speaker 1: I never I had too much pride as an artists,
- 12:46Speaker 1: as well to big are the artists to promote my shit?
- 12:49Speaker 1: I just let that shit right off my fan base,
- 12:50Speaker 1: and my fan base and my supporters start blowing that
- 12:53Speaker 1: shit up. And I still don't know how that is. Yeah.
- 12:56Speaker 1: It used to be like I'd go to the airport
- 12:58Speaker 1: and if I saw someone with some cookie shit on,
- 13:00Speaker 1: I'd be like, oh, do you know, like do you
- 13:02Speaker 1: know burn or like you know like because it was
- 13:05Speaker 1: a very small, like niche type of community. But now
- 13:08Speaker 1: everyone has cookies on you know what side to me,
- 13:10Speaker 1: cookies outgrow with me. People know who cookies what cookies
- 13:13Speaker 1: is and don't know me. And that's amazing because before
- 13:15Speaker 1: it was the other way around. Yeah, before they'd be like,
- 13:17Speaker 1: oh yeah Burning, But people see people with cookies on,
- 13:20Speaker 1: like you know Burn, Like who? This is amazing? It works.
- 13:24Speaker 1: What is like, like, give people like an idea of
- 13:28Speaker 1: I've heard some I mean I heard some numbers a
- 13:29Speaker 1: couple of years ago, like about how how how good
- 13:32Speaker 1: y'all were doing on the clothing side, But like, give
- 13:35Speaker 1: me an idea and how good this thing is doing
- 13:37Speaker 1: right now? Only because I love you. I always if
- 13:39Speaker 1: you look at any interview, I always say I'm not
- 13:40Speaker 1: talking numbers, but you know, at some point in time,
- 13:43Speaker 1: like you know, I see all the rappers online flexing
- 13:45Speaker 1: with their you know, their cash by their ear and shit,
- 13:47Speaker 1: I don't do that shit. But I mean, I guess
- 13:49Speaker 1: how flex say, I mean cookies on path, You're like
- 13:51Speaker 1: probably like I think fifty to fifty five million this year. Clothing,
- 13:55Speaker 1: just clothing, just clothing. Yeah, last year we did thirty
- 13:57Speaker 1: two million clothing. It feels great. Congrats man, And and
- 14:03Speaker 1: the type thing is is like we just got started, bro,
- 14:06Speaker 1: Like we haven't even opened up flagship stores everywhere. We
- 14:09Speaker 1: haven't really went to other countries yet, Like we haven't
- 14:11Speaker 1: really done what we're about to do. You know, there's
- 14:13Speaker 1: the future forecast of cookies, clothing, just the clothing, not
- 14:16Speaker 1: the weed, just the clothing is pretty dope. Yeah, And
- 14:19Speaker 1: I think too, like just some of the like collabse
- 14:22Speaker 1: and like the licensing, like when you guys do like
- 14:24Speaker 1: the Scarface line or the Good Fellows line that just
- 14:27Speaker 1: came out sick, Like it's always on point. And some
- 14:30Speaker 1: of the next ones we have coming are going to
- 14:31Speaker 1: shock the fuck out of people. Like some of the
- 14:34Speaker 1: ones that we've locked down is incredible. Like I can't
- 14:36Speaker 1: even believe we got it. Wow. Okay, and then on
- 14:40Speaker 1: the cause you know, I do feel like you don't
- 14:41Speaker 1: get it for whatever reason, you don't get enough respect
- 14:44Speaker 1: on a lot of fronts. Yeah, I like it though.
- 14:46Speaker 1: I like that shit. As a rapper. You're I think
- 14:49Speaker 1: you're the hardest working rap. I mean, I don't know
- 14:51Speaker 1: people who have an output like you. There's very few people,
- 14:53Speaker 1: maybe the Griselda guys, who are putting out as much
- 14:56Speaker 1: albums as you do every year. Forty plus albums out
- 14:58Speaker 1: right now. I feel like it's three for a year
- 15:00Speaker 1: automatic and I own the catalog, so it's like, you know, shit,
- 15:04Speaker 1: it's right there. That's a whole nother animal too, you
- 15:07Speaker 1: know what I mean. Like the rat money is good too.
- 15:09Speaker 1: I don't even be flexing that ship, but the rat
- 15:11Speaker 1: money is good too. Yeah, Like everything goes away. If
- 15:13Speaker 1: you just had your rat money, you'd be living nicely. Bro.
- 15:15Speaker 1: I can honestly live and raise my family off the music.
- 15:19Speaker 1: And that's the funny thing is Oh, he's just a
- 15:21Speaker 1: wee guy, or he's just just cook that school. You
- 15:23Speaker 1: can say all you want, but shit, the rat money's
- 15:27Speaker 1: cool too. I mean twenty joints is gold or platinum? Gold? Yeah,
- 15:32Speaker 1: it's my only gold. Well that and uh, I think
- 15:37Speaker 1: I'm on that's the only song I have that one go.
- 15:40Speaker 1: I think Elchievo should be getting close, but that's gotta
- 15:42Speaker 1: be close. Yeah. I never got a gold album though.
- 15:45Speaker 1: That's my that's like my bucket is before I die,
- 15:48Speaker 1: I got to get a gold album. I mean, I
- 15:50Speaker 1: feel like over time, one of your albums has got
- 15:54Speaker 1: to get there eventually, Like, what is your biggest album
- 15:58Speaker 1: as far as like numbers wise, Like I think I
- 16:02Speaker 1: think the biggest album number wise is probably it got
- 16:06Speaker 1: to be. Like I think packs did really well. Packs
- 16:09Speaker 1: are probably my favorite. Packs did really well. Dude. Back
- 16:13Speaker 1: in the days when you could sell physical CDs, the
- 16:16Speaker 1: below albums with MESSI, Marvel did Hello Good too, Shit
- 16:19Speaker 1: went crazy bro, Like I was selling like fifteen thousand physicals,
- 16:23Speaker 1: you know what I mean? And then whatever the streaming
- 16:26Speaker 1: side was. So I don't know. I mean I think
- 16:30Speaker 1: that like I like being an underground artist. So because
- 16:33Speaker 1: you have to understand, like mainstream artists, they get a
- 16:35Speaker 1: song on the radio and then as soon as they
- 16:37Speaker 1: come off the radio, they say they fell off. Right
- 16:40Speaker 1: if you look at my music career. If you're looking
- 16:42Speaker 1: at business, it's only gone like this every year. Now.
- 16:44Speaker 1: I've never shot up. I've never had a straight home run, right,
- 16:49Speaker 1: but I've elevated every year. So if I get a
- 16:51Speaker 1: record that hits hits, I got forty two album catalog
- 16:54Speaker 1: to back that up. So well, that's I was gonna
- 16:57Speaker 1: ask you. You really don't have like a and I
- 16:59Speaker 1: don't know if any things changed, but you don't really
- 17:01Speaker 1: have like a manager per se. Right now, I don't
- 17:03Speaker 1: have a manager. I don't even have a booking agent.
- 17:05Speaker 1: I actually shout out to Bobby d Uncle Snoop's army.
- 17:09Speaker 1: He's been booking me. Yeah, but I'm really just I'm
- 17:12Speaker 1: a sick fuck keV. I like to be hands on
- 17:14Speaker 1: with everything. Bro, wasn't gon say? Because I feel like
- 17:16Speaker 1: you've had records. I feel like you put a bag
- 17:19Speaker 1: behind a record once. I think it was the Busy
- 17:21Speaker 1: Body record or what was the record that you put
- 17:24Speaker 1: a back behind a record? Was it? The one with
- 17:26Speaker 1: this was like three or four years ago and I
- 17:29Speaker 1: got mad as it didn't work? Which one you got mad?
- 17:31Speaker 1: And I told you, Bro, you hired the wrong guy. Yeah,
- 17:34Speaker 1: I think it was a busy body record, bro. But
- 17:36Speaker 1: I feel like you've had records that, like, especially after that,
- 17:40Speaker 1: like records of a boogie records with G records. I mean,
- 17:44Speaker 1: you've had some crazy records that. I mean, there's the
- 17:46Speaker 1: one with two chains Whizz Cameron and fucking someone else
- 17:51Speaker 1: that should have been should have been out of here,
- 17:53Speaker 1: like I just should have been gone, bro. But I
- 17:56Speaker 1: mean all in a Day was all and day should
- 17:59Speaker 1: have been gone too. All in the Day. I mean
- 18:00Speaker 1: that's old, you know, but that's a lot older. You know.
- 18:02Speaker 1: I think that Latino artists don't really get the props
- 18:05Speaker 1: they desserve. Bro. It's weird. It's weird, like it's weird.
- 18:07Speaker 1: It's really weird. Like it's hard to break through, bro.
- 18:10Speaker 1: But I don't even try to understand this shit no more.
- 18:13Speaker 1: I prefer where I'm at, Like I see some of
- 18:15Speaker 1: the mainstream artists and I look at some of the
- 18:17Speaker 1: deals they're in and some of the things they have
- 18:18Speaker 1: to deal with, and they don't own their music. Like
- 18:20Speaker 1: I'm happy where I'm at. I feel like you get
- 18:22Speaker 1: to kind of do what makes you happy in the
- 18:24Speaker 1: music industry without having to worry about all the shit
- 18:27Speaker 1: that makes people hate this shit because you're just doing you.
- 18:30Speaker 1: There's no pressure. There's no pressure. You built your own world. Yeah,
- 18:33Speaker 1: I'm good. I mean we're down the street right now
- 18:35Speaker 1: knocking down some shit, bro, and the music sounds. It's
- 18:37Speaker 1: probably the best body of work that I've ever created,
- 18:40Speaker 1: and there's no pressure. Yeah. I mean, you know, you've
- 18:45Speaker 1: always came through the clutch with some great collab projects.
- 18:49Speaker 1: I think my favorite collab album you've ever done is
- 18:51Speaker 1: probably the one with Mazi. Yeah. Man, I think that's
- 18:54Speaker 1: front to back. That's probably top three project of years
- 18:59Speaker 1: for me because you know what, like the energy in
- 19:01Speaker 1: there was like it was like the best energy as
- 19:04Speaker 1: far as like, like I was vibing off him, he
- 19:07Speaker 1: was vibing off me. Made me set my game up.
- 19:09Speaker 1: But my beat selection is crazy, bro, Like I'm like
- 19:11Speaker 1: an underground Cali. When he comes back, I was gonna say,
- 19:14Speaker 1: you got that Rick ROSSI are low kid, Yeah, I
- 19:16Speaker 1: got I got that good ear Low when he comes
- 19:18Speaker 1: down beats and putting artists on beats, they usually on
- 19:20Speaker 1: wrap two like, and that's why maybe I'm in the
- 19:22Speaker 1: position i'm Matt because I'll get a big artist and
- 19:24Speaker 1: put them on a sample beat instead of like trying
- 19:26Speaker 1: to go big. But I don't want to fucking go big,
- 19:28Speaker 1: Like I don't want to be on the fucking radio. Bro. Yeah,
- 19:30Speaker 1: what is uh like? And you know there's been this
- 19:35Speaker 1: project with Wiz that we've gotten teased over for. Yeah,
- 19:38Speaker 1: I think it was supposed to come out like two
- 19:39Speaker 1: or three Christmases ago, like six years ago, yea with seven.
- 19:43Speaker 1: I don't know, man, I know you guys probably got
- 19:45Speaker 1: a ton of records in the cut no one's ever heard. Yeah,
- 19:47Speaker 1: they're sitting there, you know. I just when the time
- 19:49Speaker 1: is right, he'll let me know. And even if he
- 19:51Speaker 1: wants to drop it, I'm down. And I think that,
- 19:54Speaker 1: you know, like there's a lot more records to make.
- 19:56Speaker 1: And I mean me and Wiz make great music, dude,
- 20:00Speaker 1: like I have. I have a really good year for
- 20:02Speaker 1: beats when it comes to him too, Like I feel
- 20:04Speaker 1: like I pick really good records like with him, you
- 20:07Speaker 1: know what I mean? Like I love and then we
- 20:09Speaker 1: bring like a certain kind of energy out of each other,
- 20:11Speaker 1: Like when I pull up on him to the studio,
- 20:12Speaker 1: like he'll bust out a different style that he ain't
- 20:14Speaker 1: really been using. When it comes to stuff that we do.
- 20:17Speaker 1: So I feel like when the Me and Whiz album
- 20:19Speaker 1: happens's gonna be powerful because we've been sitting on it
- 20:21Speaker 1: for so long. So you know, when the time comes,
- 20:23Speaker 1: I think people will be fired up. Who do you? Uh?
- 20:26Speaker 1: Is there any talks of you doing any collab albums
- 20:28Speaker 1: or anybody else? Right now? Seems like we get one
- 20:30Speaker 1: a year or so. Yeah, you know, me and Rose
- 20:32Speaker 1: are supposed to do one like a small EP like
- 20:35Speaker 1: probably three to six songs. That's gonna be fire, you
- 20:37Speaker 1: know what I mean. Like I can't wait for that.
- 20:39Speaker 1: I've been actually saving like a lot of mental space
- 20:42Speaker 1: for that. Like if you notice this year, I drop
- 20:45Speaker 1: less albums this year than I ever had because I've
- 20:47Speaker 1: been waiting for the Rose album. And then me and
- 20:50Speaker 1: Azuna are doing like a project. It's not a it's
- 20:52Speaker 1: not a Goop album. We'll probably have like two or
- 20:54Speaker 1: three records together on there, powerful ones, but we're gonna
- 20:57Speaker 1: use like our both of our reach to put together
- 20:59Speaker 1: like sick ass projects just kind of based around the
- 21:01Speaker 1: brand we're building. So you know, other artists from Latin
- 21:04Speaker 1: America from here just create like a sick ass like
- 21:06Speaker 1: almost like a compilation but more like a maybe this
- 21:09Speaker 1: will be like an annual project like every other year
- 21:12Speaker 1: or something like that. You and Ross. Ross is somebody
- 21:15Speaker 1: who I feel like has also kind of laid the
- 21:19Speaker 1: blueprint on how to be a successful entrepreneur. One of
- 21:21Speaker 1: the easiest best partners I've ever worked with. I mean,
- 21:24Speaker 1: he's one of the hardest working, smartest, easiest partners I've
- 21:28Speaker 1: ever had, straight up. Yeah, because you've obviously collaborated with
- 21:31Speaker 1: a lot of artists on the on that side of
- 21:33Speaker 1: the game, right And I'm sure sometimes it's a little bit,
- 21:36Speaker 1: you know, things haven't worked out sometimes, And I'm sure
- 21:38Speaker 1: you know, some people are just scared to use their
- 21:40Speaker 1: platform to promote the shit you're working on. Like Rose,
- 21:42Speaker 1: he's getting on Instagram, He's pushing that shit. He's not playing.
- 21:45Speaker 1: He's a businessman. And also he understands the long term play.
- 21:49Speaker 1: You know, my advice to a lot of people out there,
- 21:51Speaker 1: a lot of people are looking for that money right now.
- 21:53Speaker 1: They want their money right now. What can I get
- 21:55Speaker 1: right now? There's power in building equity, you know what
- 21:58Speaker 1: I mean, Like when I look at equity and cookies alone,
- 22:01Speaker 1: Like the weed side, we talked about the clothing side.
- 22:03Speaker 1: We look at the weed side we're getting. We're gonna
- 22:05Speaker 1: get there for sure. Yeah, So I know what my
- 22:07Speaker 1: equity is. I'm not I only take a small salary
- 22:10Speaker 1: from Cookies to weast side. I get like a salary
- 22:12Speaker 1: that's almost laughable when the type of shit I do.
- 22:15Speaker 1: But the equity is there if I ever want to pull.
- 22:18Speaker 1: So he understands that long term play. And that's why
- 22:20Speaker 1: me and Rose work so good together because he knows
- 22:22Speaker 1: we're building something that's super long term. Especially when we
- 22:25Speaker 1: open up Cookies Florida. His brand's gonna dominate out there
- 22:28Speaker 1: because he's been such an easy guy to work with,
- 22:29Speaker 1: and we take that in the back of rad right cool.
- 22:32Speaker 1: When we open up Florida, we're gonna have four hundred
- 22:34Speaker 1: thousand square feet of indoor cultivation. I'm gonna put this
- 22:37Speaker 1: shit in heavy rotation. We're probably gonna make it store
- 22:39Speaker 1: dedicated to his brand, Collins ab fully decked out with
- 22:42Speaker 1: his logos everywhere. Like, I just appreciate the hard work
- 22:45Speaker 1: and the vision and the long term play because there
- 22:47Speaker 1: is a big exit, you know. Yeah, let's let's get
- 22:50Speaker 1: Let's let's kind of tap into the weed shit a bit.
- 22:52Speaker 1: Like I said, man, you are underappreciated, under respected in
- 22:55Speaker 1: this game. I always tell everybody Burner is rich than
- 23:00Speaker 1: all of the rappers, like you know, and I don't
- 23:02Speaker 1: even I don't even try to think like that. No,
- 23:04Speaker 1: but I listen. I'd be having arguments about fuckers for
- 23:07Speaker 1: you when you ain't around, and I'd be like yo,
- 23:08Speaker 1: like legit. And I'm not saying no names, but I
- 23:12Speaker 1: don't know anybody in hip hop outside of maybe fucking
- 23:16Speaker 1: doctor Dre or some shit, maybe Diddy. You know, maybe
- 23:19Speaker 1: you know the guys we think of, and these are
- 23:21Speaker 1: more executives at this point. But when we're talking like,
- 23:24Speaker 1: I don't know anybody who's who's fucking with you when
- 23:27Speaker 1: it comes to net worth, buddy, at this point, well,
- 23:29Speaker 1: if you look at like cookies, clothing, cookies, cannabis, if
- 23:33Speaker 1: you look at Vibes papers, Vibes is on a crazy,
- 23:36Speaker 1: crazy run, crazy traction, Like I get anxious think about that,
- 23:40Speaker 1: and you think about like equity and weed maps, and
- 23:42Speaker 1: you look at stuff like Gepen and San Cruz Shredder,
- 23:45Speaker 1: and you know things that people forgot I have my
- 23:47Speaker 1: hands in, Like there's a crazy ecosystem of very valuable
- 23:50Speaker 1: companies and it's kind of spooky sometimes, man. I just
- 23:54Speaker 1: you know, I heard listen to me, I heard a
- 23:56Speaker 1: rumor that that cookies was offered, uh pretty much to
- 24:01Speaker 1: get bought for like close to a billion dollars and
- 24:03Speaker 1: you guys turn that down. Is that true? Yeah? No,
- 24:05Speaker 1: we get crazy offers all the time. Someone was just
- 24:07Speaker 1: sitting down with us recently trying to get us to
- 24:09Speaker 1: go take our shit out on the Canadian Canadian stock
- 24:13Speaker 1: Market and whatnot. And the numbers there talking about there
- 24:16Speaker 1: if we went out, like it's crazy, and I just
- 24:19Speaker 1: like the way I look at is like that shit
- 24:21Speaker 1: ain't real. I just keep my head down, keep trying
- 24:22Speaker 1: to focus on you know, how do we keep this
- 24:25Speaker 1: shit running? I don't even think, because if you focus
- 24:28Speaker 1: on the numbers too much, you'll get caught up in that,
- 24:30Speaker 1: you'll get comfortable. I'm never comfortable. You know. We had
- 24:32Speaker 1: we had this ship set up at new and I was,
- 24:34Speaker 1: I text you, hell early, can we do earlier? Yeah?
- 24:36Speaker 1: I mean, like course, because I always work bro I
- 24:39Speaker 1: and I think I got that from my pops, you
- 24:40Speaker 1: know what I mean, Like, I just never really focused
- 24:42Speaker 1: on it. But to get to your point, yeah, the
- 24:44Speaker 1: network is probably pretty pretty powerful right now, and I
- 24:47Speaker 1: don't even know when or how that's going to happen.
- 24:50Speaker 1: Knocking on a billion, yeah, probably, I think so, I
- 24:53Speaker 1: think so. I mean I don't really know. I mean,
- 24:55Speaker 1: I know cookies is I know next time we raise
- 24:59Speaker 1: money for cookies going to be in the multiple billions.
- 25:01Speaker 1: So just look at that like that. Well, I mean
- 25:03Speaker 1: it seems as if too, like anytime there's a new
- 25:07Speaker 1: market that becomes legal, there's like three cookie stores that
- 25:11Speaker 1: open in the state straight up. And then you got
- 25:12Speaker 1: Lemonade too. Yeah, and Lemonade is another brand that your
- 25:16Speaker 1: sister brand. Yes, you don't want to overwater every you know,
- 25:19Speaker 1: hell of cookie stores, you know, cookies like Nike town
- 25:22Speaker 1: almost right, But we came with the sister brand, Lemonade,
- 25:25Speaker 1: which is killing it too. And I mean, it's just
- 25:29Speaker 1: it's crazy to think about how much more growth there is.
- 25:31Speaker 1: I mean, there's Latin America, there's Europe, and you and
- 25:34Speaker 1: Ozuna are doing something in Puerto Rico, right Puerto Rico.
- 25:37Speaker 1: There's the East coast. We didn't even hit the East coast. Yo.
- 25:39Speaker 1: I was town man. We were just talking about New York,
- 25:41Speaker 1: me and my boys, Like YO, when New York. When
- 25:43Speaker 1: the Cookies hits New York, Oh my god, it's about
- 25:46Speaker 1: to go crazy. And I think the best thing about
- 25:48Speaker 1: our company is that we have such a good team
- 25:50Speaker 1: of breeders and we're menu planning out for one hundred years,
- 25:56Speaker 1: not right just right now. I got so much genetics
- 25:59Speaker 1: in my hands right now, from all the breeders that
- 26:01Speaker 1: we have in house and the ones that we collaborate with.
- 26:04Speaker 1: I kind of treat it like beats. I'll sit down
- 26:06Speaker 1: with the breeder we do a breeding project. I'm gonna
- 26:08Speaker 1: pick ABCDFG right, boom, I'll take these. I'll tell them
- 26:12Speaker 1: just keep them at least a couple of year or
- 26:13Speaker 1: whatever it is. But we have so much genets that
- 26:16Speaker 1: we're planning out for one hundred years. So you know,
- 26:19Speaker 1: we're doing really cool shit right now where we'll film
- 26:21Speaker 1: it and be like, yo, it's twenty twenty one. I'm
- 26:24Speaker 1: sitting here. It's like a Mexican chocolate I did with Body.
- 26:27Speaker 1: Shout at Body, C's we're gonna take this. I wanna
- 26:29Speaker 1: drop this in twenty eighty. We're gonna put this in
- 26:31Speaker 1: tissue culture. This is the flavor profile. And if you
- 26:34Speaker 1: work at Cookies right now, and you want to know
- 26:36Speaker 1: why we're dropping this. This is why I like it,
- 26:38Speaker 1: and this is why I want to name it, and
- 26:39Speaker 1: we're gonna drop in twenty eighty and we take that
- 26:41Speaker 1: footage and we put it away. So one day maybe
- 26:43Speaker 1: it'll be a hologram or one day it'll be a
- 26:44Speaker 1: video message, so maybe an NFT something, right, But point
- 26:48Speaker 1: being is, I don't want to open up all these
- 26:50Speaker 1: stores around the world and then have no purpose in
- 26:52Speaker 1: a direction or a vision, right, Like I thought it'd
- 26:54Speaker 1: be cool that we have hundreds of stores around the globe.
- 26:56Speaker 1: Right when I'm dead and gone in the future, they
- 26:59Speaker 1: see video of like why we're releasing this train, why
- 27:02Speaker 1: he liked it, why he named it what it is,
- 27:06Speaker 1: and to give my my employees and my team and
- 27:08Speaker 1: whoever is running them stores fucking vision, bro, Like how
- 27:11Speaker 1: these people fired up, Like a picture of you know,
- 27:14Speaker 1: Colonel Sanders popped up and was like, yo, hey guys, yeah,
- 27:17Speaker 1: you know, like I think people at them drives who
- 27:19Speaker 1: would take their shit a lot serious. You know, I'm
- 27:21Speaker 1: a lot more serious. So we're planning out and that's
- 27:23Speaker 1: my main thing, is, like I don't get caught up
- 27:25Speaker 1: in the numbers of what Cookie is doing. I'm getting
- 27:27Speaker 1: caught up in how do I keep the shit sustainable
- 27:29Speaker 1: for a long time. I want to be one hundred
- 27:30Speaker 1: year brand. I don't want to be a brand that's
- 27:32Speaker 1: right now. I want to be popping later. As you know,
- 27:36Speaker 1: we had a couple of interactions with a weirdo out
- 27:38Speaker 1: in Arizona, trying to make some stuff happen out there. Yeah,
- 27:41Speaker 1: but I've realized that in the weed game there's a
- 27:44Speaker 1: lot of fucking weirdos involved. There's a lot of emotions involved,
- 27:48Speaker 1: and a lot of ego, a lot of ego, a
- 27:49Speaker 1: lot of emotions, a lot of a lot of hay.
- 27:52Speaker 1: I mean, people will try and knock what I do,
- 27:54Speaker 1: and I tell him like this, I work with hundreds
- 27:57Speaker 1: of partners and operators. It's the hardest thing ever to
- 28:00Speaker 1: do what we do. Yeah, because for people who don't know, like,
- 28:03Speaker 1: not all cookie stores are the same, right, It's not
- 28:05Speaker 1: like you have to partner with people. It's a very strategic,
- 28:09Speaker 1: unique model. I said, like this, look and going back
- 28:13Speaker 1: to raising money, the reason why we turned down that
- 28:15Speaker 1: that eight hundred mili back in the day is what
- 28:17Speaker 1: was mostly stocked. There was a good upfront. Don't get
- 28:19Speaker 1: me wrong. There was a lot of cash, but most
- 28:21Speaker 1: of it was stocked. But I decided to raise small, right.
- 28:25Speaker 1: I raised twenty million bucks and I'm still working off
- 28:28Speaker 1: that same twenty million dollars from that interview, and we
- 28:31Speaker 1: stretched it and turned this shit into a fucking empire
- 28:34Speaker 1: wocause we decided instead of going out and buying assets
- 28:37Speaker 1: and building from the ground that would take too long,
- 28:39Speaker 1: life short, take a lot of let's go identity and
- 28:42Speaker 1: take a lot of money, which means a lot of dilution.
- 28:44Speaker 1: That's why my network is high, because I kept my
- 28:47Speaker 1: equity right. So what we did decided to do was
- 28:50Speaker 1: let's go around the world. Let's go around the country
- 28:52Speaker 1: and find the operators that are killing it right now,
- 28:55Speaker 1: right with their stores that they have going right now,
- 28:58Speaker 1: or with their girls they have going right now. Let's
- 29:00Speaker 1: do a partnership with them that's very rich in their
- 29:03Speaker 1: favor for right now, right and keep the majority of
- 29:05Speaker 1: the money coming in right now. But we get a
- 29:07Speaker 1: roll up option on their stores, We get a purchaser
- 29:09Speaker 1: store in the future, right, we get a small rip
- 29:12Speaker 1: on percentage, and we get to have creative control of
- 29:15Speaker 1: their operations. So you empower a great grower in New Jersey,
- 29:20Speaker 1: give them their exit plan, you give them, you give
- 29:22Speaker 1: exactly provide with exit plan, but you empower their knowledge
- 29:25Speaker 1: and their skills. I would rather work with a bunch
- 29:27Speaker 1: of talented people than have to build everything for it
- 29:29Speaker 1: would take too long. Yeah, it takes It's a lot.
- 29:32Speaker 1: So our business model was find incredible operators from here
- 29:36Speaker 1: to wherever we're going, empower them, give them our genetics,
- 29:39Speaker 1: give them our SLPs, make sure we have a great
- 29:42Speaker 1: team on the ground to oversee the operation and build right.
- 29:45Speaker 1: And it's worked fucking incredible. It's for people who don't
- 29:48Speaker 1: know it's it's it's similar for people who aren't really
- 29:52Speaker 1: into into the weed game. Would you say it's similar
- 29:55Speaker 1: to kind of like a franchise model, Nah, it's different.
- 29:58Speaker 1: It's like, but you guys get to cure your rate.
- 30:00Speaker 1: Who gets that carry pick like I'll go I'll go
- 30:05Speaker 1: to Massachusetts for example. You're not going to just let
- 30:07Speaker 1: anyone get the cookies brand. It would be over. It's
- 30:10Speaker 1: quality control involved. To go to a market and you
- 30:12Speaker 1: find the best cultivator, the best operator, and you go
- 30:15Speaker 1: look at all them and what they're doing before they
- 30:17Speaker 1: even think about partnering with you, and you you cherry
- 30:20Speaker 1: pick the best and you form a partnership with them.
- 30:22Speaker 1: You pick who's going to do it. So it's it's
- 30:24Speaker 1: almost like a franchise idea, but totally different, except for
- 30:27Speaker 1: you guys get to pick because you're not gonna jeopardize
- 30:31Speaker 1: the brand because when we think of cookies, we think
- 30:33Speaker 1: of the best weed in the world. Yeah, no, it's
- 30:38Speaker 1: it's really cool. So it's kind of like a franchise,
- 30:40Speaker 1: but way different because no one could just come to
- 30:42Speaker 1: us and say, hey, we got one hundred grand, let's
- 30:44Speaker 1: let us get not It doesn't work like anybody can
- 30:46Speaker 1: open a Quiznos. You can't open the cookies. You guys
- 30:49Speaker 1: have to. It's got to be a mutual choice. Have
- 30:52Speaker 1: you had a situation where you had a partner and
- 30:56Speaker 1: it just didn't ended up working out, or maybe they
- 30:58Speaker 1: ended up maybe fumbling, or what happens that happens to everything.
- 31:01Speaker 1: I think that we've done a really good job when
- 31:03Speaker 1: finding partners, just like picking, because I've been in this
- 31:06Speaker 1: for a long time. But you identify me and you
- 31:08Speaker 1: had a similar situation we talked about. You identify things
- 31:11Speaker 1: right away, like Oh this ain't gonna work. Yep, it's
- 31:13Speaker 1: too trippy. We won't move forward with that. So I
- 31:16Speaker 1: think that we have done a good job of like
- 31:18Speaker 1: judging character kind of like finding the best you know
- 31:21Speaker 1: in class that we can find. So we haven't had
- 31:23Speaker 1: too much problems. But I think the biggest problem we
- 31:25Speaker 1: have is like denying batches, you know what I mean,
- 31:27Speaker 1: Like we have a very strong QC team right now,
- 31:30Speaker 1: and it took a while to learn that. Like I
- 31:32Speaker 1: would lie, I didn't say there was learning curves to
- 31:34Speaker 1: expand this fast, right, But what we've done is like
- 31:37Speaker 1: in single markets will say, hey, we're not we're not
- 31:39Speaker 1: approving any of this, Like you can go package under
- 31:41Speaker 1: something else. It's not coming out, it's not coming in
- 31:43Speaker 1: our bag. Yeah, So it's hard. That's the only struggle
- 31:46Speaker 1: is like we end up denying sometimes more than we accept.
- 31:49Speaker 1: That's to protect the brand. I mean, you can't just
- 31:51Speaker 1: put bullshit out. What would be some advice, you know,
- 31:54Speaker 1: because I got to imagine from your perspective, right, you're
- 31:59Speaker 1: you know, the one thing that I think makes you
- 32:01Speaker 1: different than a lot of rappers who are trying to
- 32:03Speaker 1: do the weed thing is like your genuine passion for
- 32:06Speaker 1: the whole process and not for just you know, if
- 32:09Speaker 1: we think of a lot of these rappers, they're just
- 32:11Speaker 1: trying to be you low key. Everybody wants their own cookies.
- 32:14Speaker 1: But like you said earlier about Ross, a lot of
- 32:17Speaker 1: guys just want money now. They want to put they
- 32:20Speaker 1: want to say, hey, what's what's my money now? Looking
- 32:22Speaker 1: like as opposed to trying to really build a brand.
- 32:24Speaker 1: And I feel like so many rappers are just horing
- 32:26Speaker 1: their name out now in the in the weed space.
- 32:29Speaker 1: It's like kind of crazy. And even rappers that don't smoke,
- 32:34Speaker 1: Like a lot of rappers who do not smoke weed.
- 32:37Speaker 1: And I'm not even talking about like shout out to
- 32:39Speaker 1: jay Z not a big smoker, but Jay is a
- 32:41Speaker 1: fucking boss, So i'd expect you to get into the
- 32:42Speaker 1: cannubs came. But there's a lot of rappers who are
- 32:44Speaker 1: participating in the weed culture right now that really have
- 32:46Speaker 1: never been in the weed culture. Is that kind of
- 32:48Speaker 1: frustrating for you to kind of I mean, it doesn't
- 32:50Speaker 1: really matter at the end of the day, but is
- 32:52Speaker 1: it not. I don't I don't even take it a
- 32:54Speaker 1: certain type way the way I look at us like
- 32:56Speaker 1: this Why do I do this still? Right, It's emotional
- 32:58Speaker 1: and it's crazy a lot I'm take, probably taking years
- 33:01Speaker 1: off my life from stress, but I do it because
- 33:04Speaker 1: I love it. I notice that weed really unites people.
- 33:06Speaker 1: It brings people together from every different walks of lix,
- 33:09Speaker 1: whether you're old, young, gay, straight, fucking you know whatever.
- 33:13Speaker 1: I've seen weed unite people all around the world. That's
- 33:16Speaker 1: why I do it. Right. Two, I love weed. I'm
- 33:19Speaker 1: obsessed with I've been doing it for so long, so
- 33:22Speaker 1: I guess I say to that to say I'm passionate
- 33:24Speaker 1: about this shit. When you're passionate about something, you really
- 33:27Speaker 1: live it, and you walk in and you understand why
- 33:29Speaker 1: you're doing it. I don't think you can even worry
- 33:30Speaker 1: about no one else. So I welcome everyone getting in
- 33:33Speaker 1: the game. Will open arms, but I think that they'll
- 33:35Speaker 1: burn themselves out because they might not really be passionate
- 33:37Speaker 1: about it. You go to my studio session right now,
- 33:40Speaker 1: there's forty two jars later on the table, all different
- 33:43Speaker 1: names on them. I got a notepad next to those jars.
- 33:45Speaker 1: I'm just smoking them, taking notes on what I like
- 33:47Speaker 1: and why I like it, and slowly putting them aside
- 33:50Speaker 1: and picking which ones I'm gonna keep, which ones I'm
- 33:52Speaker 1: gonna give away? And it's a fucking process. I love
- 33:54Speaker 1: this shit. I do this shit, will I live, eat,
- 33:57Speaker 1: and breathe this shit. So you know, the people that
- 33:59Speaker 1: are in the game that want to just get in
- 34:02Speaker 1: to get in, I think they'll just burn themselves out.
- 34:04Speaker 1: What would be some advice you would give someone watching
- 34:06Speaker 1: this who is trying to get I'm not even talking
- 34:07Speaker 1: about rappers, just in general, trying to get it into
- 34:11Speaker 1: the legal side of the weed games. Start from the
- 34:13Speaker 1: ground up, like I did. Learn the business, Understand what
- 34:15Speaker 1: you want to do and why you'll be impactful that
- 34:17Speaker 1: in that space, and work your way up. That's what
- 34:20Speaker 1: I did. I mean I tell people all the time,
- 34:22Speaker 1: if you want to get in the week game, go
- 34:24Speaker 1: work at the dispensary. Understand the consumer. Understand the vendor.
- 34:29Speaker 1: Understand the grower. Understand the buttender, the pos system. Understand
- 34:33Speaker 1: the butt tender, Understand how to merchandise. Understand everything before
- 34:36Speaker 1: you get in. Decide what you want to do. Do Do
- 34:38Speaker 1: you want to be a designer, you want to be
- 34:40Speaker 1: a grower, you want to be a store operator? Do
- 34:42Speaker 1: you want to be do you want to build a brand,
- 34:44Speaker 1: Like what do you want to do? I think building
- 34:46Speaker 1: a brand is a lot more difficult than people think.
- 34:48Speaker 1: You can't just take a fucking T shirt, put your
- 34:50Speaker 1: logo on it, put it back with your logo on it,
- 34:52Speaker 1: and now you've got a brand. There's a lot deeper
- 34:54Speaker 1: in that. Trust me, I'm aware and I think that, Like,
- 34:57Speaker 1: if you go back to YouTube, I think the reason
- 34:59Speaker 1: why Cookies residenting with peoples that documented every step of
- 35:01Speaker 1: that process. So if you're going to build something, document it,
- 35:04Speaker 1: because you can go see me pulling the strings to
- 35:06Speaker 1: my hoodies, you know, fifteen years, ten years ago, nine
- 35:08Speaker 1: years on YouTube. On YouTube, you can see me making
- 35:11Speaker 1: those hoodies, selling that shit. You can see me in
- 35:13Speaker 1: the dispensary way long ago. Right, Like I've documented every
- 35:17Speaker 1: process of it, so people resonate with it. They know
- 35:19Speaker 1: it's real. It's crazy. You mentioned branding because like you have,
- 35:22Speaker 1: I feel like you could write a book on how
- 35:24Speaker 1: to brand. I want to because I'm trying to get
- 35:26Speaker 1: a book deal right now. Yeah, Because like if you
- 35:28Speaker 1: think about the Cookies brand, the color the Cookies blue,
- 35:32Speaker 1: just the logo, just everything is so two logos. You
- 35:36Speaker 1: got the font which is on my hand. You got
- 35:38Speaker 1: the circle see by if they ever say cookies can't
- 35:40Speaker 1: be used because it's you know, attracting children. Whatever they
- 35:43Speaker 1: might use, you got the colorway if all else fails,
- 35:45Speaker 1: Like I just came with a straight identity, Bro, And
- 35:47Speaker 1: I just I just learned it from watching, you know,
- 35:51Speaker 1: watching the business I was in the dispenser. I know,
- 35:53Speaker 1: no one really had a real brand. It's like when
- 35:56Speaker 1: you see that blue, you know what time it is? Yeah,
- 35:58Speaker 1: what was the thought process behind that color? Because that
- 36:00Speaker 1: color it sticks out, it's you know, it was the
- 36:03Speaker 1: first hoodie I made, Bro for the Yoko video, Like,
- 36:06Speaker 1: I just I was like, give me like a like
- 36:07Speaker 1: a different blue, like with the blue strings. Like I
- 36:10Speaker 1: just wanted to do something that would pop on camera
- 36:11Speaker 1: when I seen them, Like that's my colorway right there.
- 36:14Speaker 1: How important was that record Yoko for you, man? Because
- 36:16Speaker 1: that was you know that record also went to radio right,
- 36:19Speaker 1: and I think you had a bad going for that record.
- 36:21Speaker 1: You had big grit Chris Brown Whiz Was that the
- 36:24Speaker 1: first record you and Wizard did? That was twenty ten, right,
- 36:28Speaker 1: I think that that is the first Whiz Whiz song. Yeah,
- 36:32Speaker 1: it was. It was a big record. For me, and
- 36:34Speaker 1: I think that like there's a story behind that shit
- 36:36Speaker 1: that no one even knows about. Not just like the
- 36:40Speaker 1: making of the video was wild. Like when I did
- 36:43Speaker 1: that song, I ran into Chris Brown in the studio
- 36:46Speaker 1: right he was there. I was smoking bud. His cousin
- 36:49Speaker 1: smoked the bud. It was like, oh, shot, fuck, would
- 36:51Speaker 1: you come eat? Brown got Brown in the video Back then.
- 36:53Speaker 1: His manager was Tina David. She said all right, well
- 36:56Speaker 1: he well we'll prove him doing the record. We cannot
- 36:59Speaker 1: do any video, like video is not happening whatever. So
- 37:04Speaker 1: I got the record done with Big Crit Chris Brown.
- 37:08Speaker 1: Big Krit made the Beag shit was tech. I was like,
- 37:10Speaker 1: I gotta do a video for this. So I was
- 37:13Speaker 1: getting that Brown's cousin he was like, look, if you
- 37:15Speaker 1: want to get Chris to come out, you got to
- 37:16Speaker 1: bring something dope, Like he got Hello cars. He likes
- 37:19Speaker 1: to drive his cars. Like, think of a way you
- 37:21Speaker 1: can have him go. Provide an area for you know,
- 37:23Speaker 1: for him to spin out in his cars or something like,
- 37:25Speaker 1: come with something and I'll pitch it to him. Like
- 37:27Speaker 1: all right, cool. So I was thinking, like maybe I
- 37:29Speaker 1: can get a race car track, and so I called
- 37:31Speaker 1: that NASCAR place in Irvine or or whatever the fuck
- 37:34Speaker 1: this shit was. And I asked him how much it was,
- 37:37Speaker 1: and I said, well, what do you want to do?
- 37:38Speaker 1: I said tomorrow. He's like, no, like, it's not happening.
- 37:41Speaker 1: I'm like, okay, well how much is it? He's like,
- 37:43Speaker 1: well how much you got? Like I got fifteen hundred?
- 37:45Speaker 1: He laughed at me. He's like, man, like, we wouldn't
- 37:48Speaker 1: even run out of the parking lot for less than
- 37:50Speaker 1: fifteen g's and you want to use the fucking racetrack.
- 37:52Speaker 1: I'm sorry, buddy, it's not happening. I'm like, what can
- 37:55Speaker 1: I come see you in person? He's like, if you
- 37:57Speaker 1: want to hear no to your face, come through. I'm
- 37:59Speaker 1: like for sure. So I pulled up over there. I
- 38:01Speaker 1: met this guy, square dude, square ass, motherfucker, old dude.
- 38:05Speaker 1: I was like, Yo, come, you know I'm here, you know, so, yeah,
- 38:08Speaker 1: I don't really know what to tell you, kid. You
- 38:10Speaker 1: know it's not happening. I told you, if you want
- 38:11Speaker 1: to hear no to your face, no, okay, can you
- 38:14Speaker 1: just do me one favor. It's like, what I might
- 38:16Speaker 1: go to your computer. It's like, all right, I pull
- 38:18Speaker 1: it whiskally on YouTube and look at his views. Look
- 38:22Speaker 1: at his views. Like, all right, so I might go
- 38:24Speaker 1: to Chris Brown, look at his views, pulls it up.
- 38:27Speaker 1: He looks at the views. He's like, if this is
- 38:29Speaker 1: about like you think you're gonna give me promo? Look outside,
- 38:31Speaker 1: I got Coca Cola, I got pepstake, all these places
- 38:33Speaker 1: paying me money to be on my wile Like, it's
- 38:35Speaker 1: not about that. Let me finish. Go type in Burner,
- 38:38Speaker 1: look at my views, typed in Burner. I'm like, you
- 38:40Speaker 1: see the difference. I'm like, bro, like this guy ain't
- 38:43Speaker 1: gonna come do this video if I don't think of something.
- 38:45Speaker 1: And I only have one day. So if you provide
- 38:48Speaker 1: me this spot, you can change my life. Bro, straight up.
- 38:51Speaker 1: But I just had to hear a knowing person. Bro,
- 38:53Speaker 1: so I appreciate you. And the dude was like, you
- 38:55Speaker 1: know what, come here tomorrow, save your fifteen hundred, bring
- 39:01Speaker 1: five for the ambulance, and you could use my racetrack.
- 39:04Speaker 1: I appreciate you coming here. I appreciate you telling me
- 39:06Speaker 1: why it was important to you, and I'll let you
- 39:08Speaker 1: use the place. I'm like, cool, So I leave and
- 39:11Speaker 1: we show up the next day. This guy's daughter was
- 39:14Speaker 1: the biggest fan of Chris Brown. Ever, I guess he
- 39:16Speaker 1: went home and told her, this guy brought down the
- 39:19Speaker 1: fucking race car drivers that did the video for Otis,
- 39:21Speaker 1: for jay Z and Conne. What this guy brought out
- 39:24Speaker 1: fucking semi fucking eighteen wheel trucks. Spin it out in
- 39:27Speaker 1: the video right straight? One hundred and fifty thousand dollars
- 39:30Speaker 1: production value at least right let me do my thing there,
- 39:34Speaker 1: Brown pulled up. The energy was crazy. You see them
- 39:37Speaker 1: carting around. Bro, I only spent five hundred dollars for
- 39:40Speaker 1: that shit. Bro on everything I love, on everything I
- 39:45Speaker 1: love right like that shit was crazy as fuck. And
- 39:48Speaker 1: then you see the scene where I'm driving the eighteen wheeler. Bro.
- 39:53Speaker 1: I went to Atlanta and I went to every I
- 39:55Speaker 1: went to every truck stop where all the truckers were resting,
- 39:58Speaker 1: and knocked on fucking doors and had a thousand dollars
- 40:01Speaker 1: and try to convince a driver let me drive his ship.
- 40:03Speaker 1: They called the cops on me twice. I finally got
- 40:06Speaker 1: some cuddy Nigerian dudes like whatever, you got a thousand bucks,
- 40:09Speaker 1: it's yours? Oh, you know how to drive? People don't
- 40:11Speaker 1: even know this I don't even know how to drive.
- 40:13Speaker 1: I'm driving fucking car. Oh you don't drive, No, I
- 40:17Speaker 1: drive a boat. I don't drive no fucking car. So
- 40:20Speaker 1: I was let alone a fucking semi. The guy was
- 40:23Speaker 1: laying on the ground with his foot on the fucking
- 40:25Speaker 1: gas holding the pedal. I'm sitting there riding on the
- 40:27Speaker 1: fucking freeway, bro fucking riding this shit, rapping and the
- 40:30Speaker 1: guy's sweating. Dude like, oh my god, sir, we're done.
- 40:33Speaker 1: We're done. I'm like, no, no, not when we're seen,
- 40:34Speaker 1: when we're seeing. So that video was hella crazy to me.
- 40:38Speaker 1: It's hell important to me. Now. Atlantic Records put the
- 40:41Speaker 1: season assists on it for whatever reason, which makes no
- 40:43Speaker 1: sense to me. So it's not available anymore. But it
- 40:46Speaker 1: was big. I didn't that that. That's crazy. It's not
- 40:49Speaker 1: on YouTube, No it is, but it's not the one
- 40:52Speaker 1: I put up with all the millions of views. Someone
- 40:54Speaker 1: like ripped it and put it on their own channel
- 40:55Speaker 1: or something. Yeah, that was, and that was prior to
- 40:58Speaker 1: you being officially Tailor Gang. Well, it got it got pulled.
- 41:02Speaker 1: It got pulled when I when I was with Taylor
- 41:04Speaker 1: Gang because some dude, I'm gonna say his name. Some
- 41:07Speaker 1: dude took the song to try to do some license
- 41:09Speaker 1: and deal with someone in fucking Europe, and the Atlanta
- 41:12Speaker 1: got pissed and fucking pulled it. But you know whatever, Yeah,
- 41:15Speaker 1: I was gonna ask you, like, you know, the era
- 41:18Speaker 1: of Berner and Taylor gang like was a hell of
- 41:20Speaker 1: a run. Like you know obviously you and Wizard always fan,
- 41:24Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying, But like what, I guess
- 41:27Speaker 1: what did having that code sign for do for you
- 41:30Speaker 1: as a rapper? You know what I'm saying. Like, I
- 41:32Speaker 1: just text Wiz this morning and thanked him, Bro. I
- 41:34Speaker 1: woke up this morning. I was just like, Bro, I
- 41:36Speaker 1: love you guys when I met you. When I met Wiz,
- 41:39Speaker 1: my mom and just died from cancer. Right, so I
- 41:41Speaker 1: was in a dark place. I was trying to get
- 41:43Speaker 1: away from the street ship because I was really like
- 41:46Speaker 1: I was really fucking with that ship bro hard Like
- 41:47Speaker 1: people don't even know and I don't really care. You
- 41:50Speaker 1: talk about it a lot in your wraps. Yeah, so
- 41:52Speaker 1: you know, just use your imagination when you hear that.
- 41:54Speaker 1: But at that time, I was trying to figure out
- 41:56Speaker 1: way because when my mom died, I was like, well,
- 41:58Speaker 1: someone's got to be here from my daughter. If I
- 42:00Speaker 1: go away, who is that going to be? My Mom's
- 42:03Speaker 1: gone now? So shit, it's me now. So I got
- 42:06Speaker 1: to walk away from all that shit. And when I
- 42:09Speaker 1: met Wiz, I was able to meet him and Taylor
- 42:12Speaker 1: Gang and see the more the morale of the crew
- 42:16Speaker 1: and see the tour of us. And they took me
- 42:18Speaker 1: on tour. I got to see what it looked like
- 42:19Speaker 1: to go state to stay and perform. It made me
- 42:21Speaker 1: step up my performance. Gang. They brought me in and
- 42:24Speaker 1: they embraced. You know, the side of my life that
- 42:27Speaker 1: I love most is music. So I just text Biziness
- 42:30Speaker 1: mar like, I love you, bro, thank you because when
- 42:32Speaker 1: I met you, you you gave me a spark I needed
- 42:34Speaker 1: to keep making music, which is my passion, because other
- 42:36Speaker 1: than that, I might have just went dark in the street. Shit,
- 42:39Speaker 1: I might not be here right now. So yeah, I mean,
- 42:42Speaker 1: without getting into too many details, like, was there ever
- 42:44Speaker 1: a point in time where like the street ship almost
- 42:46Speaker 1: ended up costing your freedom? Yeah, yeah, a big time.
- 42:51Speaker 1: I think that a lot of that ship will be
- 42:52Speaker 1: told them in this series I'm doing right now, just
- 42:55Speaker 1: announce the partnership with the creator of Snowfall. The writer,
- 42:58Speaker 1: director from dnnd's and producer of Game of Thrones. We're
- 43:01Speaker 1: doing we're doing a scripted crime series about all about
- 43:05Speaker 1: pack shipping in Northern California's role in the week game,
- 43:07Speaker 1: and so a lot of them stories will be It's
- 43:09Speaker 1: based on true man, so a lot of them stories
- 43:11Speaker 1: will be in there. But yeah, definitely did bro. Yeah,
- 43:14Speaker 1: it's crazy because if you think of like and obviously
- 43:16Speaker 1: like you're you know, Northern California was kind of like
- 43:19Speaker 1: the hub for everyone to go out there and get
- 43:21Speaker 1: their plug and then send packs to the Midwest, to
- 43:26Speaker 1: the South, to just every it comes to that Granddaddy
- 43:28Speaker 1: purple on that og and that Bubba cushion, like just
- 43:31Speaker 1: you know, even with the cookies and Gilado, I mean,
- 43:35Speaker 1: Nora cal really changed the game. Especially look at like
- 43:37Speaker 1: what Humble County did before people knew it green Greenhouse
- 43:40Speaker 1: or outdoor was I mean, there's big margins, my boy,
- 43:44Speaker 1: especially on the outdoor shit. Yeah, it was almost like
- 43:46Speaker 1: Cooke funny bro like, because if you think about, like,
- 43:49Speaker 1: you know, if you have like some great light dep
- 43:50Speaker 1: or some great green greenhouse that's on the East coast,
- 43:54Speaker 1: it's loud at a certain point in time before people
- 43:57Speaker 1: knew what greenhouse was. I was dog walking people. Bro
- 44:00Speaker 1: margin game insane bro like. It was a nice time
- 44:04Speaker 1: and the game got changed. But yeah, it's different now,
- 44:07Speaker 1: the margins. There was a period where people from the
- 44:09Speaker 1: South didn't know the difference between indoor and outdoor, let
- 44:12Speaker 1: alone indoor and greenhouse. They start figuring out out door
- 44:14Speaker 1: because obviously it looks way different smells. Yeah, but the
- 44:17Speaker 1: good depths and the good greenhouse would be so good sometimes.
- 44:21Speaker 1: Yeah that's still going on, Yeah, but not to the
- 44:27Speaker 1: same I'm sure in your heyday it was man forty
- 44:30Speaker 1: eight hundred for a pound of greenhouse. Boy, it was
- 44:34Speaker 1: big Yo, it's crazy you mentioned Humble. I just watched this.
- 44:37Speaker 1: Uh me and my wife watched this documentary on Hulu. No,
- 44:42Speaker 1: it's it's it's it's on the big Foot, the Sasquatch. Yeah, yeah,
- 44:46Speaker 1: I forget what it's finding Sasquatch. I think that ship
- 44:49Speaker 1: is crazy up there. There's a lot of untel stories
- 44:51Speaker 1: and that's when we will who go with that series
- 44:53Speaker 1: is to tell Northern California's you know story. Did you
- 44:56Speaker 1: ever get like into that world up in Humble County?
- 44:59Speaker 1: And absolutely, because that world is crazy man, Like, there's
- 45:02Speaker 1: people who go up there and don't come back down. Yeah,
- 45:04Speaker 1: you know, Humboldts humbles a beautiful place. There's great people
- 45:08Speaker 1: up there. There's a dark side to everywhere you go,
- 45:10Speaker 1: but Humbolts like almost there's it's almost like its own
- 45:13Speaker 1: laws up there. Low key like, well, you get in
- 45:15Speaker 1: the hills, it's a whole nother story, you know. I
- 45:17Speaker 1: can't wait. That's why I've been waiting though, because a
- 45:19Speaker 1: lot of my stories are coming out in the series.
- 45:21Speaker 1: There's been some crazy give me, give me one crazy
- 45:24Speaker 1: story that that you could give us. Just just just
- 45:26Speaker 1: give me one, bro give me one. Well, as a
- 45:29Speaker 1: trailer for the series, well, one story was, uh, I
- 45:33Speaker 1: was up there with the buyer and we went to
- 45:35Speaker 1: uh to go by maybe like one hundred oh g's
- 45:38Speaker 1: or something like that, and we drove up to like
- 45:40Speaker 1: a mountain. So there's a gate on the bottom of
- 45:42Speaker 1: the hill and my dude came down grabbed it bread.
- 45:46Speaker 1: It was like, I'll be right back cool sitting there
- 45:48Speaker 1: with this buyer and he drives up this hill and
- 45:51Speaker 1: we're chilling this kind of hot day and time just
- 45:53Speaker 1: keeps going by. It's not coming back down. It's like, damn,
- 45:56Speaker 1: looking at my watch. I'm like, damn, what's up? Go
- 45:59Speaker 1: to my phone? Nervous. I'm like, fuck you lill nervous.
- 46:02Speaker 1: And the dude's chained smoking cigarettes. I'm with the buyers
- 46:04Speaker 1: change smoking cigarettes. He's like, yo, go up there. I'm like,
- 46:08Speaker 1: I'm not fucking going up there. Brock talking about He's like,
- 46:11Speaker 1: go up there, Bro, you get my money, this dude,
- 46:13Speaker 1: go up there. I'm like, man, I don't know what's
- 46:15Speaker 1: up there. I don't know how far it is. He's like,
- 46:17Speaker 1: you're gonna go up there, bro, He's like, it's been
- 46:19Speaker 1: about forty five minutes to do. Say He'll be all right,
- 46:21Speaker 1: back go up there. I'm like, I'm not going up there.
- 46:23Speaker 1: Dude pulls out a gun, cocks it back, say brine,
- 46:26Speaker 1: I am trying to go there, bro, but you need
- 46:27Speaker 1: to go up there. I'm like, fuck, dude, all right,
- 46:30Speaker 1: hop over the little shady fence. Start walking. I walked
- 46:32Speaker 1: for like ten minutes, bro, and I'm looking up this
- 46:34Speaker 1: broad and it's just not stopping. I'm like stripping sweat.
- 46:37Speaker 1: I come back down, like, bro, I don't even see
- 46:41Speaker 1: an end to this trail. I'm not gonna go. I
- 46:43Speaker 1: walked for ten minutes. Bro, I'm fucking sweating, like fuck,
- 46:46Speaker 1: it's hot as fuck. I don't know what to tell you.
- 46:47Speaker 1: He's like, that motherfucker played us. That motherfucking drove up
- 46:50Speaker 1: the hill with my money and drove down and left.
- 46:52Speaker 1: He's like, he played it. You. You fucking robbed me.
- 46:54Speaker 1: He's on his gun. I'm like, bro, I did not.
- 46:56Speaker 1: Robbie starts honking his horn, honking his horn, starts ripping
- 47:01Speaker 1: my bro just breathe. We're gonna figure it out. It's
- 47:03Speaker 1: all good. He's like, it's all good. It's all good, Bro,
- 47:06Speaker 1: it's all good. He's looking at me crazy, honking his
- 47:09Speaker 1: horn like this motherfucker's about to shoot me. For sure.
- 47:11Speaker 1: I'm about to get shot. And then all of a sudden,
- 47:14Speaker 1: my boy comes down that fucking hill. I'm looking at
- 47:16Speaker 1: this dude. He's like, my bad bride to trim up
- 47:19Speaker 1: a few more to make it the even hundred. I'm like, mo,
- 47:21Speaker 1: the fucker, dude, I started walking up that hill trying
- 47:24Speaker 1: to find you. He was like, oh, dude, it's like
- 47:25Speaker 1: a mile and a half fucking drive. You wouldn't have
- 47:28Speaker 1: you wouldn't have made up the hill, like maybe maybe
- 47:30Speaker 1: if you would walk forever, you know, And I was like,
- 47:33Speaker 1: damn God, damn bro. And the crazy thing about that
- 47:36Speaker 1: story was I took my little I took my little piece,
- 47:40Speaker 1: you know what I mean. My boy took my little
- 47:41Speaker 1: issue from the side when he went up to the hill.
- 47:43Speaker 1: It gave me my bag. I gave it to a
- 47:44Speaker 1: little pretty bitch to go ahead and dip off. I
- 47:47Speaker 1: hopped him. I hopped in a separate car to leave.
- 47:49Speaker 1: I was smoking a joint and we're driving and the
- 47:51Speaker 1: dude was so stressed out. Bro, Literally, I cannot make
- 47:56Speaker 1: this ship. We're leaving Humble County. There's like a little
- 47:58Speaker 1: area by it's called uh right when you get into Mendo. Well,
- 48:04Speaker 1: we're pulling off and this jus pulled over. Bro, we
- 48:08Speaker 1: passed him. I'm sitting there smoking and I thought to
- 48:11Speaker 1: get paranoid for sec But I don't even have anything
- 48:13Speaker 1: in the car but the weed that just took a couple.
- 48:16Speaker 1: The chick had all my little cut whatever I made,
- 48:18Speaker 1: she was already long gone, but they had this pool
- 48:20Speaker 1: pulled over. Dude. He had a bad day. He had
- 48:24Speaker 1: a very bad and he had everything on him. He
- 48:25Speaker 1: had a hundred pack on him and they pulled him over. Yeah,
- 48:29Speaker 1: did they end up? He had a bad day. I
- 48:31Speaker 1: never talked to him again, brother, I just ghosts. Well,
- 48:34Speaker 1: what's crazy is like that's what people don't know, Like
- 48:37Speaker 1: in the weed game, like a lot of like if
- 48:40Speaker 1: Middleman and ship is a great it's a great little hustle.
- 48:44Speaker 1: It was good for me, you know back then. But
- 48:45Speaker 1: he just came with it, came with a lot of stress.
- 48:47Speaker 1: And you know, I think what happened to dude, man,
- 48:50Speaker 1: Like he just he was from out of town. He
- 48:53Speaker 1: was anxious. He just got profile leaving that place. And
- 48:56Speaker 1: I don't even think cared about the hunding pack. I
- 48:58Speaker 1: don't think they took him to jail. They was looking
- 48:59Speaker 1: for money. The cops are there and want money sometimes, bro,
- 49:01Speaker 1: just to shake you down because they know what they
- 49:03Speaker 1: know what you're doing. They probably took your ship, you
- 49:05Speaker 1: know what I mean? So yeah, man, like the game
- 49:08Speaker 1: is not pretty Bro. How much money did the guy
- 49:10Speaker 1: go up the hill with hundred pack? I mean, fuck well,
- 49:15Speaker 1: I don't remember what the prices were back then, Bro,
- 49:18Speaker 1: A hundred pack O G. I gave him like a
- 49:22Speaker 1: like forty like forty two hundred and forty forty five
- 49:26Speaker 1: hundred each back then you know what I mean. It's
- 49:28Speaker 1: a lot of bread. It's a lot of bread. Yeah, yeah,
- 49:32Speaker 1: that's that's that's us. Gonnahoot my ass, bro, I've seen
- 49:34Speaker 1: his eyes. Yeah, he's gonna shoot me. And then the
- 49:38Speaker 1: guy comes down the mountain. Motherfucker bro hippie, motherfucker bro
- 49:41Speaker 1: Hella cool Helicom Collective. We're sitting there dripping sweat. It's
- 49:45Speaker 1: hot up there, bro, it's hot day. Hey what up? Man?
- 49:48Speaker 1: We gotta interrupt the interview real quick to tell you

- 50:56Speaker 1: As far as like you know, during that period, I
- 51:00Speaker 1: feel like it's kind of like a golden era of
- 51:01Speaker 1: like a certain moment in the Weed game, like any
- 51:04Speaker 1: of your peers in that game also kind of level
- 51:06Speaker 1: up with you at the same time, and and and
- 51:08Speaker 1: and are also kind of doing their thing. Yeah, good
- 51:10Speaker 1: amount of people. I love to see people from the
- 51:13Speaker 1: original market in you know, the new market right now,
- 51:15Speaker 1: like actually in the legalization market. So shout there when
- 51:19Speaker 1: that's like a lot of people think that I beef
- 51:21Speaker 1: people or people I beef with me. I think it's
- 51:23Speaker 1: like a it's a very small community. It's a big business,
- 51:26Speaker 1: but a very small community. And I think that everyone
- 51:29Speaker 1: that's killing it right now, I salute them. I congratulate them.
- 51:32Speaker 1: They made it past like a very weird, gray, dangerous
- 51:35Speaker 1: area and now they're in like a new area but era.
- 51:39Speaker 1: But I think this is like timeless and it's history,
- 51:41Speaker 1: and being a part of history is type Do you
- 51:43Speaker 1: ever find it like frustrating that you can't be you know,
- 51:47Speaker 1: I've talked to certain artists, uh, some from your hometown
- 51:51Speaker 1: that are kind of like nonchalantly feel like there's some
- 51:55Speaker 1: hate or some weirdo shit towards you. Is it hard
- 52:00Speaker 1: to be burner and like not being like like you
- 52:02Speaker 1: can't be everything to everybody, right, and especially when it
- 52:07Speaker 1: comes to like that shit, like it is it like
- 52:09Speaker 1: kind of like because you keep a small circle around you,
- 52:13Speaker 1: my bubble is super small, it's super tight. It's super small.
- 52:15Speaker 1: It's been that way for a long time. Like is
- 52:17Speaker 1: that on purpose because of that kind of shit? Because
- 52:20Speaker 1: everybody wants access to you, bro, Yeah, you know, access
- 52:23Speaker 1: is denied right now, bro, like limited access for sure,
- 52:26Speaker 1: because energy is everything, time is everything, life is short.
- 52:29Speaker 1: You gotta enjoy this shit. Why you can? You know
- 52:30Speaker 1: what I mean? You never know what could happen, whether
- 52:32Speaker 1: it be cancer, fucking COVID, or fucking give by car,
- 52:36Speaker 1: So I keep my circle tight. Do people Are people
- 52:39Speaker 1: mad about it? Maybe I just don't give a fuck.
- 52:41Speaker 1: Like there's only one opinion I care about. It's my daughter's,
- 52:44Speaker 1: you know what I mean, and my wife's, and I
- 52:47Speaker 1: really focus on my daughter's opinion. I really care what
- 52:50Speaker 1: she thinks about me. Anyone else fuck them straight up.
- 52:53Speaker 1: I ain't worried about it. Are you tapping with I
- 52:56Speaker 1: know you got caps, which is like more of like
- 52:58Speaker 1: a mushroom. Yeah, but but are you gonna eventually with
- 53:02Speaker 1: the legalization of shrooms? Hell yeah, That's why we set
- 53:05Speaker 1: it up already, Like we're doing what we can do legally.
- 53:08Speaker 1: But I mean a lot of my partners on the
- 53:10Speaker 1: cannabis side are mushroom enthusiasts, and they know a lot
- 53:13Speaker 1: about mushrooms and they're fired up on it, and so
- 53:16Speaker 1: we're just trying to make sure we're in position for
- 53:18Speaker 1: when it comes. We're gonna that's a whole other side
- 53:20Speaker 1: of the business. Yeah, I feel like that's like the
- 53:22Speaker 1: future low Key. I just saw money Man post some
- 53:24Speaker 1: ship on Twitter about shrooms like he's like, Yo, Perks
- 53:27Speaker 1: and Zan's are dead wrapping. If anyone's listening to this
- 53:31Speaker 1: man like pills coke O, it's just super dangerous. Man. Like,
- 53:36Speaker 1: the fentanyl problem right now is real. I feel like
- 53:38Speaker 1: there's a reason why there's a lot of fentanyl out
- 53:40Speaker 1: here in the streets, and I think that people are
- 53:42Speaker 1: purposely flooding America a fentanyl for people to harm themselves.
- 53:46Speaker 1: Put the fucking Lean down. It's just disgusting. I can't
- 53:49Speaker 1: believe people are still sitting Lean every Did you ever
- 53:51Speaker 1: go through an ara with Lean? Fuck? No, look at
- 53:53Speaker 1: my I'm mys are clear as broad day, Like right now,
- 53:55Speaker 1: I'm into the bag right now, you know. I mean
- 53:57Speaker 1: I smoke button, that's it. But you know, Lean is
- 54:02Speaker 1: all bad, bro. I'm seeing people fucking their whole lives
- 54:04Speaker 1: are fucking roomed from this shit. I don't even understand, bro. Yeah, no,
- 54:08Speaker 1: it's it's it's crazy because, like you said, the fentanyl ship,
- 54:11Speaker 1: I feel like Fentanyl's like it's like low Key is
- 54:15Speaker 1: big of an epidemic as COVID. Just people ain't talking
- 54:17Speaker 1: about it like that because it's out there. You don't
- 54:19Speaker 1: know what you're getting on, how pure it is, and
- 54:22Speaker 1: fentanyl's killing a lot of people. It was. I don't
- 54:25Speaker 1: know if you saw like in Venice, there was like
- 54:27Speaker 1: a house with like four comedians. They left the comedy
- 54:29Speaker 1: show and three out of four died doing coke. But
- 54:34Speaker 1: you can't push it in your body right now if
- 54:35Speaker 1: you don't know where it's coming from. You know what
- 54:37Speaker 1: I mean, alternative plant medicine. Man, stick with the weeds,
- 54:39Speaker 1: stick with the shroom, stick with you know, just stick
- 54:42Speaker 1: with shit that's natural. Don't don't touch that ship. Yeah,
- 54:44Speaker 1: and for people who don't know too like we like
- 54:46Speaker 1: you know, because a lot of the issue with getting
- 54:49Speaker 1: off that ship is withdraws and ship. But you fucking
- 54:52Speaker 1: dab away those withdraws straight up, like straight up, man,
- 54:58Speaker 1: put the drugs down. Uh, you're you have a lot
- 55:01Speaker 1: of interest in the alien shit. We did some shit
- 55:04Speaker 1: on Clubhouse. We had like a little alien room on
- 55:06Speaker 1: Clubhouse or in the pandemic. But like you also kind
- 55:09Speaker 1: of have you know, you've got some conspiracies that you're
- 55:12Speaker 1: tapped in with but what you know, I think that,
- 55:15Speaker 1: like with the Obama admitting UFOs are real, I just
- 55:19Speaker 1: feel like, because the world's so crazy right now because
- 55:23Speaker 1: of Trump, because all COVID, because all this wild shit,
- 55:26Speaker 1: they're like throwing shit out right now because they know
- 55:30Speaker 1: it's not going to be the main story. They have
- 55:31Speaker 1: to just cover the tracks. They're letting it come out
- 55:33Speaker 1: and just get you know, overwhelmed with other ship. Yeah,
- 55:36Speaker 1: because I feel like I feel like they're they're getting
- 55:38Speaker 1: everyone ready for some shit low key. I mean, if
- 55:41Speaker 1: we think that our government hasn't been to another planet yet,
- 55:44Speaker 1: we're probably pretty crazy. If you ever go outside at
- 55:47Speaker 1: night and just look up, look up there, and if
- 55:49Speaker 1: you're in a clear area, like when I was in Montana,
- 55:51Speaker 1: I would go on my boat at nighttime, midnight, one
- 55:53Speaker 1: o'clock in the morning, float out to Middle Lake with
- 55:56Speaker 1: no lights and just lay there and you see all
- 55:58Speaker 1: these fucking stars and planets. You don't think there's some
- 56:01Speaker 1: other ship up there, You're fucking lost. There's a hell
- 56:04Speaker 1: other ship up there. And I think the I think
- 56:07Speaker 1: Earth has just been burnt out, it's overpopulated. There's a
- 56:10Speaker 1: lot of weird shit going on. There's a lot of
- 56:13Speaker 1: there's a lot of control issues, and people want to
- 56:15Speaker 1: be in power, Other countries want to be in power.
- 56:17Speaker 1: I definitely feel like there's other other plans out there
- 56:20Speaker 1: that we've been to or that we can go to.
- 56:22Speaker 1: And that's why you see Bezos. I was gonna say,
- 56:26Speaker 1: that's why I think you see these billionaires. They're gonna
- 56:29Speaker 1: be the first people to leave, because I honestly feel
- 56:31Speaker 1: like the government's suppressed how easy it really might be
- 56:34Speaker 1: to get up there right Like they're just telling you
- 56:36Speaker 1: it's not possible. You gotta get this big rock and
- 56:38Speaker 1: do this, And then how the fuck do we know
- 56:40Speaker 1: that you look at you look at ship, and they say,
- 56:42Speaker 1: it's this far it takes. That might all might all
- 56:45Speaker 1: be some bullshit. You might be able to get in
- 56:47Speaker 1: something and just get up. So I don't know, but
- 56:49Speaker 1: I definitely know there's more people. There's more there's more
- 56:52Speaker 1: species out there than just us. We're not we're not
- 56:55Speaker 1: like the dominant species. We've been put here by something else.
- 56:58Speaker 1: Our body is designed like a fucking computer. DNA's design
- 57:02Speaker 1: like a fucking computer. It's not we didn't. We didn't
- 57:05Speaker 1: just Germans didn't just fucking calculating design us like we
- 57:09Speaker 1: were designed on purpose. So that's my thoughts. Do you
- 57:12Speaker 1: have you ever had a UFO experience where you seen something? Yeah, yeah,
- 57:17Speaker 1: I had a in Vegas. I was in Vegas randomly
- 57:21Speaker 1: at Molly Male's house. Yeah, legendary home. A lot of
- 57:26Speaker 1: a lot of great stuff happened over there. But yeah, no,
- 57:28Speaker 1: it's it's crazy because when I was growing up, my
- 57:32Speaker 1: mom's uncle was like a og at NASA, og at NASA.
- 57:38Speaker 1: So she went to Maryland to visit her her aunt
- 57:40Speaker 1: and her aunt's husband who worked at NASA at the time.
- 57:43Speaker 1: His name was Doc, and my mom asked him if
- 57:46Speaker 1: aliens are real, and he said it he couldn't tell her,
- 57:50Speaker 1: But if people knew what was in the ocean, a
- 57:52Speaker 1: lot of people don't want to kill themselves. Yeah no, dude,
- 57:55Speaker 1: I mean that's just stuck with me. One of my
- 57:58Speaker 1: friends when I was growing up, his grandpa was the
- 58:00Speaker 1: super super decorated war veteran and like very straight edge,
- 58:05Speaker 1: very square like super like just legit. And when he
- 58:10Speaker 1: was dying, he told my best friend man, just I
- 58:14Speaker 1: had to keep this to my deathbed, Bud, there's definitely
- 58:17Speaker 1: aliens out there. I've definitely seen things and you should
- 58:20Speaker 1: know we're not alone and I just wanted to share
- 58:22Speaker 1: it with you and that should just stuck with me too.
- 58:24Speaker 1: But you guy, it's got to be realistic. Man, there's
- 58:26Speaker 1: no way we're the only people out here. And I've
- 58:28Speaker 1: been even thinking, like I've been really reading on lately,
- 58:32Speaker 1: like life after death, like maybe this is just one
- 58:34Speaker 1: big audition for like what happens next, Like look at
- 58:37Speaker 1: my dogs sometimes, like this motherfucker's been here before. He
- 58:41Speaker 1: was he's been here before, And I start geeking out
- 58:43Speaker 1: on that, and I really I'm really into like what
- 58:45Speaker 1: happens when you die? Type shit? Right now? Are you like,
- 58:48Speaker 1: would you consider yourself religious? Nah? Because I'm not at
- 58:51Speaker 1: all either. I'm borderline atheists. I'm borderline I don't know.
- 58:55Speaker 1: I don't know. I get in trouble a lot when
- 58:57Speaker 1: people ask me about religion. But I'll be straightforward. I
- 58:59Speaker 1: believe that we were put here by something. If you
- 59:01Speaker 1: look at religion, right, every single religion, whether it be
- 59:05Speaker 1: whatever country, whatever religion it is, they all say that
- 59:08Speaker 1: someone came from above, came down, taught them, and went
- 59:11Speaker 1: back up. No fucking brainer. Yeah, I've always kind of been.
- 59:17Speaker 1: A lot of that shit is man made. They all
- 59:18Speaker 1: got the same themes for the most part. Some are
- 59:20Speaker 1: a little feel like they all experienced the same thing.
- 59:23Speaker 1: Someone came from above, taught them and went back up.
- 59:27Speaker 1: What does that mean? I mean even like the hieroglyphics,
- 59:31Speaker 1: there's some wild hieroglyphics where it's like motherfuckers were bird,
- 59:34Speaker 1: humans and all kinds of shit. So I like to
- 59:36Speaker 1: get high, bro, When my day ins I have like
- 59:39Speaker 1: an eighteen hour, nineteen hour workday, whatever fuck it is,
- 59:41Speaker 1: I get home for the last few hours of my day,
- 59:44Speaker 1: I just get high and I google as much as
- 59:46Speaker 1: I can. You just did you die? You dive down
- 59:48Speaker 1: some YouTube rabbit holes big time, especially in the last
- 59:52Speaker 1: two years. Yeah, because you've had time. I got time.
- 59:55Speaker 1: I got time. But besides smoking and you know, being
- 59:59Speaker 1: a you know, fucking entrepreneur, fucking boss. Uh, what do
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: you what are your you know, family life aside? What
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: are you're like? You know, what's a good day for
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: you hobby wise? Like if you had to wake up
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: and just do whatever you wanted to do. You know,
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: what are your hobbies? Man? Shit? Hobbies? Right now is
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: just the film stuff which is still work. Like I
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: did a comedy with a bass master shout to Homie D.
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: We just freesed out that and we're about to put
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: that out soon. I got a movie called Splash City,
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: all about the bibbing in the Bay Area. I really
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: want to bring to life, like northern California crime stories
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: and like just northern California is on tap. Like if
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: you really look at a lot of crime films or
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: movies in general based on LA especially on a commercial
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: worldwide level. Yeah, there's nothing out the Bay and I
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: feel like that's my job, right. So my hobby now
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: is just developing content barrier base like and it's fucked up.
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: It's not really a hobby. I guess it's like work,
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: but that's what I like to do. Yeah, So the
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: show that you're developing with the Snowfall people, that's like
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: a big deal. It's a really big deal. That's like
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: that's not like some like independent like rap shit. Nah.
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: But See, the thing is, like I also understand that
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: that we're gonna raise like seventy to eighty million to
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: do that project and it's gonna take time. So in
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: between that, while developing that, I'm trying to not gout
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: all of shit learned the game. Yeah, I'm trying to
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: do like an independent like the Splash City. It's like
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: me and a group called Four Ways Entertainment. They just
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: want to They want a Latin film festival for the
- 1:01:28Speaker 1: movie called Slipping in the Darkness. I just I appreciate
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: their hustle, their work ethic. I locked in with them, like,
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: come to the bay, let me write this movie. Let
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: me directed with you. You guys execute it well, edited together,
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: and I'll put it out so that that way, while
- 1:01:40Speaker 1: I'm deloving this series, people start getting a sense of
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: my style when it comes to film. Shit, everyone's got
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: their own style. You gotta score Sazy you got you know,
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: Spike Lee, you all the shit. Rob Zombie, he was
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: an artist, He got his own style, got his own style. Yeah.
- 1:01:53Speaker 1: My style is gritty, It's real gritty. I see a
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: lot of these crime series on TV right now. Lot
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: them are a little too pretty for me. Too pretty,
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: they're too produced. Like let's bring some edgy shit back,
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: Like Men's Society was so sick, dude. Oh yeah, yeah,
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: raw as fuck, Like we need that ship back, bro.
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: Some of this shit's too pretty, bro. I think The
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: last show that really did that for me was The Wire.
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: The Wire was great. I think the last show that
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: did it for me was Breaking Bad, and Breaking Bad
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: was ross. Fuck. It was good. It was produced, but
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: it was good. It felt real. That's real. Do you
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: watch better call Saul? Solid solid? But a perfect day
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: for me would be wake up at six am, make
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: my green juice or drinking green juice, work out, chill
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: with the dogs, play on my phone till my shit
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: starts bringing, get some work done, go to my daughter's
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: volleyball game, watch her make some dinner for the kids,
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: you know, watch a good couple of crime movies, and
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: relax like that'd be my perfect day, not these hectic
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: days where it's just back to about calls like until
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: I go to bed. Those days hurt, Like, yeah, the
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: other day I had a day, bro, Like I started
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: first call six thirty am. I got off at eleven pm,
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: and I just felt like, what the fuck am I doing? Bro?
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: You know my spread then there's too much going on.
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: I just try to breathe and doting a chance to
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: work out, doting a chance to chill with the fan.
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: But the man is what it is. We're gonna have
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: those kind of days. Man, you know, you're kind of
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: you got like you're inside man, like you probably know
- 1:03:22Speaker 1: more than most people is. They're like, like, what do
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: you think the realistic chances are of weed coming off
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: of the federal federal drug list? I should I want
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: to say that it's gonna happen, because it'd be a
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: great day for me, But I don't see it happening
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: anytime soon. You don't think it's gonna happen because you
- 1:03:40Speaker 1: think it because at the end of the day, if
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: New York is finally on, you think it's just gonna
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: have to be a state by state thing. It's gonna
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: be gray for a long time. I think the Feds
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: and the government wanted to figure out how to milk
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: every single part of the business. And until they figure
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: that out, they're not gonna do it. But Sleepy jo
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: ain't gonna let that shit happen. Bro, That boy's tired
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: of hell. You know, he's turning this trying to two
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: point out right now. I'm not gonna lie. I voted
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: for Joe Biden, Yeah, but man, I didn't vote this time.
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: It was less than two evils for me. It was
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: damned if you do. Damned if you don't. Damn Sleepy
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: Joe is fucking fucking ship up right now, the entire
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: bastards on the war path. But you know, it is
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: what it is. I don't see his administration legalizing weeding.
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: And what's crazy is they promised it. They promised it.
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: That's their whole market that they was talking about, that
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: ship and they ain't doing nothing. Yeah, no, it's it's
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: it's bad, man. I don't know, you know what, Like
- 1:04:34Speaker 1: you said, damned if you do, Damned if you don't.
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: That boy a cup of coffee, man, Yeah, man, Yeah,
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: have you guys ever liked done any like you know
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: ship When we think of a cigarette companies do lobbyst ship?
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: Have you guys ever done some lobby oft shiit? No,
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: I don't trust that ship. Yeah, I'm gonna lobby myself.
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: Is it weird though, because now all these corporate motherfuckers
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: are like coming into the weed game, trying to buy
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: out these companies, and and I feel like kind of
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: fucking it up low key, Like I've talked to a
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: bunch of them. I'm not doing that. If I ever exit, bro,
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: if I ever exit, if there's ever a liquidity event
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: for me. They understand there's like major major, major, major
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: major protection of the brain and involved, like no one's
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: down to do that. My goal is to pass this
- 1:05:13Speaker 1: shit to my daughter, To be honest with you, I
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: tease her all the time, you're about to be a
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: little CEO. You better learn the game. And she already
- 1:05:19Speaker 1: has a clothing line. Yeah, that's why I did that.
- 1:05:22Speaker 1: She understands that's big. I never he knows. I don't
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: really promote shit like that because I'm making her and
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: make her figure out. You got to figure it out.
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: How's it doing? It does cool? It could do a
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: lot better, but and I'm sure if I post it
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: every day and every drop, they probably do way better.
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: But I want her to learn the struggles. I don't
- 1:05:38Speaker 1: want to just give her everything. She's got to work
- 1:05:40Speaker 1: for it. But like me and her bond by like
- 1:05:43Speaker 1: designs and like we can flip a jacket like this,
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: or you can do like this, or you can And
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: she's really proud of her shit, and she wears it
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: to school and I couldn't be more proud of her.
- 1:05:52Speaker 1: But I wanted to learn that shit hands on. You
- 1:05:54Speaker 1: know how was settling down for you? Because you know
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: you you had your days. I was a wild boy.
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: He was a wild boy. I was a wild boy.
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: I was a wild boy. Settling down for me was good, Yeah,
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: because I feel like, you know the you know, for
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: me too, Like I was a wild boy. For sure.
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: I was wild and I don't even know I was wild.
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: But you know what though, like it feels so much
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: better than not having to deal with that shit, like
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: you know how it should be multiple girls and phones
- 1:06:21Speaker 1: and hiding and this. I can't even think about doing
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: that right now. Yeah, I think too, like once you've
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: done everything, it's like, man, you like, there's almost only
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: so much of that shit you could do. I did
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: it all. I was a bartender before any of the shit.
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: I remember that when I was working at the Hempston.
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: I was a bartender at eighteen. You have to understand
- 1:06:39Speaker 1: I did it all. I did it all right. It
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: was amazing. I was young and my hair was slicked
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: back of the skinny. Was incredible. But I think that
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: settling down leveled up my business, yeah for sure, Like
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: it took me from like hood rich to in a
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: great place straight up. Yeah. I feel like since I
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: got married to my wife, everything is improved. Shout out
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: to our wives. Shout to the wife, because if I
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: wasn't if I wasn't able to go to like when
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: I'm here working or if I'm traveling, if I didn't
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: know that my household was good, and then my daughter
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: was straight when she's at my house. Because my daughter's
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: been in the household with my wife now for like
- 1:07:16Speaker 1: five days and she hasn't even went back to her
- 1:07:18Speaker 1: mom's house, you know. So it's it's perfect because I
- 1:07:20Speaker 1: know I have a solid household and that ship does
- 1:07:23Speaker 1: numbers for your mentally. Yeah, when you're gone, you know
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: everything's handled. Yeah. Yeah, Now the same thing with my wife.
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: I'm like, yo, I could be in Miami for a
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: whole week and I know I don't got to worry
- 1:07:31Speaker 1: about it. I get yelled at for not cleaning now
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: and that, you know, here and then, but at the
- 1:07:35Speaker 1: end of the day, settling down made me like a
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: very successful business guy. I see a lot of my
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: friends caught up with hell of girls and shit, that's
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: shit's ass backwards. If you want to get to the bag,
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: have a wife. Hey, that's a bar. If you want
- 1:07:45Speaker 1: to get to the bag, have a wife straight up
- 1:07:47Speaker 1: and happy wife, happy life. Fucking facts, fucking facts. Have
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: you considered. I know you you mentioned Montana earlier, but
- 1:07:55Speaker 1: if you consider like switching your primary residency out of California, Yeah,
- 1:08:00Speaker 1: but I just don't know where I would go. You know,
- 1:08:03Speaker 1: a lot of people in my position because you have
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: to think, like if I stole my business with the
- 1:08:08Speaker 1: new body and administration's laws, like I probably have to
- 1:08:11Speaker 1: give sixty eight percent. I think it's sixty eight percent
- 1:08:14Speaker 1: federal something crazy. I don't know. I don't know. I
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: would end up keeping like fifteen percent of my business profits,
- 1:08:20Speaker 1: right like, So, I don't know. I can't do Miami.
- 1:08:23Speaker 1: Miami is too humid humid. Vegas is kind of like
- 1:08:26Speaker 1: too dry for me Vegas though, those are the two
- 1:08:30Speaker 1: like places where you stay. Tax Yeah, you could really
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: save money. And if you really wanted to be a savage,
- 1:08:35Speaker 1: you can go to Puerto Rico. It's no federal tax.
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: That's fucking wild. So you can get one hundred million
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: dollar check, go to Puerto Rico, lived there for three years,
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: and all that money's yours. I think that's uh, Logan
- 1:08:47Speaker 1: Paul just relocated to Puerto Rico, King did I But
- 1:08:51Speaker 1: the way I look at like this, bro, I just
- 1:08:54Speaker 1: want to be where I want to be. I'm not
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: going to go hide somewhere for my years. I just
- 1:08:59Speaker 1: Vegas bad. You know, I used to live in Vegas.
- 1:09:01Speaker 1: I know this is cool. It's hot, though, bros. Dry
- 1:09:03Speaker 1: I mean you lived in Arizona. I did. I don't
- 1:09:05Speaker 1: want to go back. Yeah, it's too hot, it is
- 1:09:07Speaker 1: so hot. I'm a cool player, man. Yeah. Yeah. How
- 1:09:10Speaker 1: how many years were you in Easy? I think on
- 1:09:13Speaker 1: and off for like five years. And that was because
- 1:09:15Speaker 1: your mom was out there. Yeah, my dad was supposed
- 1:09:17Speaker 1: to open a restaurant out there, so and there was
- 1:09:19Speaker 1: cheap housing and so we went to a move over there,
- 1:09:22Speaker 1: and then my pops got caught up with some shit,
- 1:09:23Speaker 1: cheating and whatnot. So we stayed in California and my
- 1:09:26Speaker 1: mom stayed there. And I just bounced back and forth
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: and uh, what part of of asy were you in
- 1:09:31Speaker 1: Chandler or you were in the Chandler. People don't know, man,
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: Chandler ain't none sweet, certain parts of Chandler and none sweet. Man,
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: Come on, Chandler. Arizona is really a wild place. It is.
- 1:09:42Speaker 1: People don't believe me. I'm like, listen, guys, Arizona is different.
- 1:09:45Speaker 1: Everyone has a gun. I mean I was selling acid
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: in the sixth grade in Arizona. Wow, a bitch put
- 1:09:52Speaker 1: a pinky nail out and had me hit crystal meth
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: in class. In seventh grade in class in Chandler, I
- 1:09:58Speaker 1: thought it was coke. It was fucking crystal. Arizona's turned up.
- 1:10:02Speaker 1: So he was up for two days. So you did
- 1:10:03Speaker 1: math in seventh grade on accident? You did math. She
- 1:10:07Speaker 1: was such a pretty bit. She had long ass curly hair,
- 1:10:09Speaker 1: big ass earrings. Joy. She was a cartail baby for show.
- 1:10:13Speaker 1: She had this long ass nails. Shit, e look at
- 1:10:15Speaker 1: this sh take a little month. I'm like, oh shit,
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: I started felling. I'm like, oh shit, was that this
- 1:10:20Speaker 1: ship burns? That was math? I'm like, oh fuck, what
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: the fuck? I was on one for two days. I
- 1:10:25Speaker 1: was fucked up, dude, it was fucked up. Did you
- 1:10:27Speaker 1: ever go through it? You know, obviously outside of just
- 1:10:29Speaker 1: experimenting with drugs, you ever go through like a time
- 1:10:31Speaker 1: where you were like doing coke on a regular basis.
- 1:10:33Speaker 1: I was cocing for a while. Yeah, what years? I
- 1:10:37Speaker 1: was bartending bro Yeah, because I'm said I did it
- 1:10:39Speaker 1: all doing eighteen, like eighteen, like twenty twenty one or
- 1:10:44Speaker 1: twenty three. I was just you were wild. I was
- 1:10:47Speaker 1: doing coke, Molly, now molly, just coke because Friday night
- 1:10:53Speaker 1: was Friday night was hip hop, Saturday night was techno,
- 1:10:58Speaker 1: and then Sunday night was salsa, and all the fucking
- 1:11:01Speaker 1: Cubans and Columbians would come and they all found out
- 1:11:03Speaker 1: I was only eighteen nineteen. I was fucking all the bitches.
- 1:11:07Speaker 1: They kept giving me bumps, key shots, give me like
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: eight balls while I was working. It was just part
- 1:11:11Speaker 1: of the culture. And the bartender lifestyle is very shady,
- 1:11:14Speaker 1: very dirty lifestyles. Just coke, coke, coke, liquor. And I
- 1:11:18Speaker 1: was finally one day, I was like, I can't do
- 1:11:20Speaker 1: this shit. No mom over this shit, dude. I almost
- 1:11:22Speaker 1: odd at Reggae in the River. That's what it was.
- 1:11:24Speaker 1: Oh shit, that's why I stopped doing coke. Reagaan the River.
- 1:11:28Speaker 1: What is that? It's a festival in northern California where
- 1:11:30Speaker 1: it's on the river. It's hot as hell. I was
- 1:11:32Speaker 1: on coke and gray oos Gray Goose for three days.
- 1:11:35Speaker 1: I turned pale and I dropped and I woke up
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: at the medics and I yo, dude, you gotta you
- 1:11:39Speaker 1: gotta just chill it out a little bit. And I
- 1:11:41Speaker 1: remember I went home to my chick's house and I
- 1:11:43Speaker 1: did a bump and my heart started doing the same
- 1:11:45Speaker 1: thing it did when I fainted. I was all right,
- 1:11:47Speaker 1: that's it, I'm done. I don't want to die. That
- 1:11:49Speaker 1: was it over. I was about to have a baby, too,
- 1:11:51Speaker 1: So it was a wrap. Yeah. Never, never. And that's
- 1:11:55Speaker 1: why I don't drink to this day though, because and
- 1:11:57Speaker 1: that's why I don't drink, because when I drink, the
- 1:12:00Speaker 1: domination of cocaine and alcohols. Yeah, it's a great one.
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: I've never done cocaine, but I know that the people
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: who I know, who I'm still close with, that's their
- 1:12:08Speaker 1: thing is they get drunk and they do coke. Yeah,
- 1:12:10Speaker 1: because you could just keep going. Yeah, but I'm glad
- 1:12:13Speaker 1: I stopped that shit. Hell on, it's been what Janelle
- 1:12:16Speaker 1: is fourteen, It's been fifteen years since I touched or alcohol. Wait,
- 1:12:20Speaker 1: so you haven't drink in fifteen years. I've maybe had
- 1:12:23Speaker 1: like a couple of ships or maybe with wiz Ure
- 1:12:25Speaker 1: to like one or two shots. But I don't drink.
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: Drink now, I hen'll know. Yeah, no, yeah, no, you're right,
- 1:12:29Speaker 1: because I've seen you like at Dre's and like you're
- 1:12:31Speaker 1: just just there I'm smoking. Yeah, yeah, alcohol is like
- 1:12:36Speaker 1: I'm not an alcoholic, but I understand, like I like,
- 1:12:39Speaker 1: I like the social lubricin of like you know, if
- 1:12:42Speaker 1: I go out just having some shots and I never
- 1:12:46Speaker 1: dealt with I never dealt with doing cocaine. I'm never glad.
- 1:12:48Speaker 1: I don't drink. Man like Whiz is the only way
- 1:12:49Speaker 1: that compression me to drink is we laugh hell hard.
- 1:12:51Speaker 1: But my version of drinking is like two or three shots.
- 1:12:53Speaker 1: That's it. Like you take some of this gin and lemonade, yeah,
- 1:12:56Speaker 1: or just some of this is queen, just take this
- 1:12:58Speaker 1: gin straight. Yeah. I don't understand that about Whiz is
- 1:13:01Speaker 1: that they like Jen is disgusting by itself. He did
- 1:13:07Speaker 1: bombay and lemonade. That's a good mixed drink, but by itself,
- 1:13:11Speaker 1: it's like drinking gasoline. Bro. Fuck that it's it's it's
- 1:13:14Speaker 1: it's horrible. Was there ever a point in time where
- 1:13:16Speaker 1: you had an opportunity to maybe do something on the
- 1:13:18Speaker 1: major label side where you just kind of kept kept
- 1:13:20Speaker 1: it moving because I know you know you've been you've
- 1:13:21Speaker 1: been doing the distro with Empires, since I really feel
- 1:13:24Speaker 1: like since Empire was ever even a thing. Fuck major labels, Dude,
- 1:13:28Speaker 1: they never understood me. They never wanted to take the
- 1:13:30Speaker 1: time to understand me. It's probably their biggest mistake because
- 1:13:33Speaker 1: I mean they probably would have had a piece of
- 1:13:34Speaker 1: everything I'm doing now. So I sat down with a
- 1:13:37Speaker 1: couple and they just did not understand me. They never did.
- 1:13:41Speaker 1: How early on were did you link with Ghazi for
- 1:13:44Speaker 1: two thousand and six? Two thousand and five or six?
- 1:13:47Speaker 1: Was that when he was rapping m Now he was
- 1:13:49Speaker 1: at Ingrows Okay, yeah, yeah, so he left INgrooves started Empire,
- 1:13:53Speaker 1: and so from the rip where you just doing distro
- 1:13:56Speaker 1: through his company, now was the Ingrous And one day
- 1:13:58Speaker 1: he told me, Yo, I moved the catalog over to
- 1:13:59Speaker 1: my new company. I'm like, what the fuck are you
- 1:14:01Speaker 1: talking about? Bro? I would like it. Now you're gonna
- 1:14:03Speaker 1: get the same check. I'm gonna give you a better split,
- 1:14:06Speaker 1: just trust me. And I was one of his first lines.
- 1:14:08Speaker 1: And yeah, and it's you know, I always tell people
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: like Empires the shit check comes every month. First I
- 1:14:15Speaker 1: tell some of these major label artists how much I
- 1:14:18Speaker 1: get for iTunes checks and the like what fuck are
- 1:14:20Speaker 1: you serious? Well, they're idiots. They signed all their leverage away.
- 1:14:23Speaker 1: They fucking a lot of these major artists they signed
- 1:14:25Speaker 1: too early. I feel bad because when I tell them
- 1:14:27Speaker 1: how much I get from just my empire check alone,
- 1:14:30Speaker 1: you could see their eyes like what well, because most
- 1:14:34Speaker 1: artists aren't getting any money, don't get anything. They're literally
- 1:14:38Speaker 1: they got to make their advance last because they're not
- 1:14:40Speaker 1: going to ever recoup, you know. Uh. We did an
- 1:14:43Speaker 1: interview with YG a couple of years maybe like middle
- 1:14:46Speaker 1: of the pandemic. He was like, I've never seen any
- 1:14:48Speaker 1: money off my depth. Jam shit. He's one of the
- 1:14:51Speaker 1: dopest guys ever. That's he's the best, terrible and at
- 1:14:54Speaker 1: the time he was like on some fuck death jam shit.
- 1:14:56Speaker 1: But like, it's crazy because that story is happens a lot.
- 1:15:00Speaker 1: If someone didn't give you some money up front, it's
- 1:15:02Speaker 1: probably a bunch of bullshit comes with it a thousand
- 1:15:06Speaker 1: the way I did. Yeah, I always tell everybody, man,
- 1:15:08Speaker 1: don't take the bigger the advance. You better make it
- 1:15:11Speaker 1: the longer. You got to make it last. It kept
- 1:15:13Speaker 1: a certain hunger inside me too. I like being the underdog.
- 1:15:17Speaker 1: That's what's your favorite Burner album. Like, you just said
- 1:15:23Speaker 1: you're working on your best album yet. I've heard you
- 1:15:24Speaker 1: say that almost every time you put an album out.
- 1:15:26Speaker 1: But what's your favorite ever? Um? Fuck, dude, They're they're
- 1:15:30Speaker 1: like journals, dude, I don't know. I mean, I think
- 1:15:33Speaker 1: the White album. I think Drugstore Cowboy is a good one.
- 1:15:36Speaker 1: I think the White Album was really really good too.
- 1:15:40Speaker 1: But the reason why I say this is the best
- 1:15:41Speaker 1: album I've done now is because I got Cosmo producing it.
- 1:15:44Speaker 1: It's my best friend. We work great together. You guys
- 1:15:47Speaker 1: just did a collap album. Yeah, And I really leveled
- 1:15:50Speaker 1: them up on the way that we're doing the production
- 1:15:51Speaker 1: of the project. I gave him free range, like instead
- 1:15:53Speaker 1: of me just being in the studio like send me
- 1:15:54Speaker 1: a beat them out of the rap, Like we're just
- 1:15:56Speaker 1: spending ten days on just producing this thing and then
- 1:16:00Speaker 1: IM gonna take that production come back you know on
- 1:16:02Speaker 1: five days, six days from now, and then really just
- 1:16:05Speaker 1: dive into like recording. So I like this body work
- 1:16:08Speaker 1: as we're actually really doing it, like from scratch, yeah,
- 1:16:11Speaker 1: from the red samples. I'm not getting sued anymore. People
- 1:16:14Speaker 1: playing guitars, people doing vocals, Like it's really cool. You
- 1:16:17Speaker 1: had like an era with al Chievo where you were
- 1:16:22Speaker 1: diving a lot into collaborating with Latin artists, and I
- 1:16:26Speaker 1: know that you had kind of flirted with the idea
- 1:16:27Speaker 1: of maybe doing an album with Dell Records. Yeah, I
- 1:16:32Speaker 1: mean the record is incredible. Shout out to Chris. I
- 1:16:35Speaker 1: think I think I was DJing one of your shows.
- 1:16:38Speaker 1: I think it was in Vegas at hard Rock, and
- 1:16:41Speaker 1: Chris came out and saying and yeah, but that was, like,
- 1:16:45Speaker 1: what did you learn from kind of dabbling in that
- 1:16:48Speaker 1: side of the game, because the Latin shit is crazy.
- 1:16:50Speaker 1: I just was in the Latin billboards for a whole
- 1:16:53Speaker 1: week because my artist is Mexicans, so we were out there.
- 1:16:55Speaker 1: I just learned a different world, the world out there.
- 1:16:57Speaker 1: And I think what we did with Del Chivo Records,
- 1:16:59Speaker 1: we took pop in their traditional like style of making
- 1:17:02Speaker 1: music and combineded it and it was like the first
- 1:17:05Speaker 1: of that kind, Like we flipped the knas beat dude. You,
- 1:17:08Speaker 1: I mean, like we flipped the old NAS record and
- 1:17:11Speaker 1: we did it like that. And so I think that
- 1:17:12Speaker 1: no one's really tried. And I kept to what I do.
- 1:17:14Speaker 1: I wrapped in English, he sang in Spanish and it
- 1:17:17Speaker 1: was a great natural combination of music. And I mean
- 1:17:20Speaker 1: I would love to sit down with them and do
- 1:17:21Speaker 1: a project with them. I'm down and do an album
- 1:17:23Speaker 1: with him for sure, and produce everything live and documented.
- 1:17:26Speaker 1: Like that's kind of shit. That would be fun because
- 1:17:27Speaker 1: you were like starting to work with a lot of
- 1:17:28Speaker 1: Latin artists, obviously Azuna I tried. I tried it with Laplaza.
- 1:17:33Speaker 1: I tried it, but like it's just it's tough, man, Like,
- 1:17:35Speaker 1: it's just music is tough, like people. People enjoyed it,
- 1:17:39Speaker 1: and music actually was really good, but my core fan
- 1:17:41Speaker 1: base complained a little bit. So it's tough to dill
- 1:17:44Speaker 1: that in. You know, what was it like working with
- 1:17:48Speaker 1: Nipsey on the wax Room and like best rest and
- 1:17:52Speaker 1: peace of Nipsy. I mean, I made the record. I'm
- 1:17:54Speaker 1: gonna tell this story. I never really told this story either.
- 1:17:57Speaker 1: I made the record, I hit up Nipsey. Me and
- 1:18:00Speaker 1: Nipsey talked a lot and DM and Nipsey's the one rapper,
- 1:18:03Speaker 1: one of the only rappers that respected me as a musician.
- 1:18:06Speaker 1: He respected my music. He gave me my props all
- 1:18:09Speaker 1: the time on the music. I talked a lot with
- 1:18:12Speaker 1: him in the DM and you know, text back and forth,
- 1:18:15Speaker 1: and so I hit him. I was like, yeah, I
- 1:18:16Speaker 1: got this record. He's like, pull up, shit hopped an uber,
- 1:18:20Speaker 1: pulled up by myself. His studio was Hella Deep, Hello, Hello,
- 1:18:24Speaker 1: Hello homies. They're all so welcomed into me star Blaze.
- 1:18:27Speaker 1: And he won the booth. He did his vocals, killed it,
- 1:18:31Speaker 1: gave me the session. I went right back to my studio,
- 1:18:33Speaker 1: mixed it, and then we came time for the video.
- 1:18:37Speaker 1: I came out to La to do the video and
- 1:18:39Speaker 1: he didn't he. I was blown over he didn't show up.
- 1:18:41Speaker 1: I was like fucking faith on me. I was blowing
- 1:18:44Speaker 1: him up. I'm like, you know what, fuck it, it's cool.
- 1:18:46Speaker 1: And the next day he hit me like my bad bro,
- 1:18:48Speaker 1: was done with some shit, like some real shit. But
- 1:18:50Speaker 1: I got you. Send the camera guy to me and
- 1:18:52Speaker 1: knocked that out for you. I'll take care of it.
- 1:18:54Speaker 1: I'll pay him too. I got you. I'm like, nah, man,
- 1:18:56Speaker 1: you sure. He's like, yeah, he knocked it out, Bro,
- 1:18:59Speaker 1: he knocked out he scenes for me, send it to me.
- 1:19:01Speaker 1: It was it was perfect. Bro, Like I give that
- 1:19:04Speaker 1: guy so much respect on what kind of person he was,
- 1:19:06Speaker 1: what kind of business guy? He was, so he showed
- 1:19:09Speaker 1: me a lot of love. Yeah. I think like he
- 1:19:12Speaker 1: also too, like with you know the way you're kind
- 1:19:13Speaker 1: of showing people, there's there's a whole other way you
- 1:19:16Speaker 1: could go with this shit. He did a good job
- 1:19:18Speaker 1: of showing people the same way. You know what I'm saying. Yeah, No,
- 1:19:20Speaker 1: I mean, dude, just fucked. That guy's the best. I think.
- 1:19:23Speaker 1: The last time I talked to him, he told me
- 1:19:25Speaker 1: you did for the word cookies what doctor J did
- 1:19:27Speaker 1: for the word chronic. I can't even say cookies without
- 1:19:30Speaker 1: people digging its weed. Pops, bro, you really did that shit.
- 1:19:33Speaker 1: That's the last time I talked to him. Yeah, I mean,
- 1:19:35Speaker 1: what was the origin of cookies? Because I always hear
- 1:19:37Speaker 1: different stories, right that, like you were behind that girl
- 1:19:40Speaker 1: the original strain, or your people were behind the original strain,
- 1:19:43Speaker 1: that we were original shit was called girl Scout cookies,
- 1:19:46Speaker 1: but we knew we were gonna get suitics. I just
- 1:19:47Speaker 1: called the cookies. I think the first time I ever
- 1:19:49Speaker 1: smoked it was with two chains at Molly Mom's house
- 1:19:52Speaker 1: in Vegas in like two thousand and ten or eleven
- 1:19:55Speaker 1: two changes with my boy too. I like two chains, man,
- 1:19:57Speaker 1: It's a cool cat Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, I've I
- 1:20:00Speaker 1: don't know if he's doing anything in the weird game,
- 1:20:01Speaker 1: but I feel like he should be. He's a man,
- 1:20:03Speaker 1: bro like I DM with him a lot too, just
- 1:20:06Speaker 1: bullshit and he's cool. I like two chance. Yeah, Chang's
- 1:20:08Speaker 1: a good dude. Who's besides you know? Uh, let's let's
- 1:20:12Speaker 1: take ross with the immediate guys. We know you to
- 1:20:15Speaker 1: be really close with. Who would you consider to be
- 1:20:17Speaker 1: like a true friend in the rap game that you've
- 1:20:20Speaker 1: encountered because we have a lot of accomposes Mazi. He's
- 1:20:23Speaker 1: a good friend. Bro. We talk about life. We don't
- 1:20:27Speaker 1: we don't really talk about politics that. We talk about life, kids, business,
- 1:20:33Speaker 1: you know, just life, bro. I like, Mazi, would you
- 1:20:36Speaker 1: do a sequel? Hell yeah, I'm working on this ship
- 1:20:39Speaker 1: right now. That'd be crazy. Yeah, I need that. That
- 1:20:42Speaker 1: first one is gonna be hard to top, man, it's
- 1:20:44Speaker 1: gonna be easy. You guys got you got logic on
- 1:20:46Speaker 1: the song with Mazi? Yeah, exactly. You know what that
- 1:20:48Speaker 1: song is cracking on Spotify right now. It's probably when
- 1:20:51Speaker 1: Mazzi's number one songs on Spotify just found this out
- 1:20:54Speaker 1: out of nowhere. It just happened like no, it is,
- 1:20:56Speaker 1: it's it's it's I just was on Mazzi's profile and
- 1:20:59Speaker 1: it was in the top five. Yeah, it just happened
- 1:21:01Speaker 1: like a couple of months ago. But yeah, Logic, because
- 1:21:03Speaker 1: like for a while there, you were, you were, you
- 1:21:05Speaker 1: were linking with Logic a lot. I was trying to
- 1:21:07Speaker 1: do some with him. But you know, he's he's a
- 1:21:09Speaker 1: busy guy, man, you know, he's he's I know he
- 1:21:11Speaker 1: started smoking and getting you know, logic smokes man. No,
- 1:21:15Speaker 1: I know, but he used to not Yeah, he used
- 1:21:17Speaker 1: to be a drinker. Yeah, he likes to week So
- 1:21:20Speaker 1: you guys were trying to because I know he pulled
- 1:21:21Speaker 1: up to the cookies on Melowse Grand opening. Yeah, we're
- 1:21:24Speaker 1: going to do something, man, but I don't think I
- 1:21:27Speaker 1: don't think he had the attention to do it. We're
- 1:21:28Speaker 1: gonna do something together. We're in Stony Bob Ship. Yeah,
- 1:21:31Speaker 1: we're gonna do it. Man. It just never happened. Just
- 1:21:33Speaker 1: didn't end up coming to fruition. Nah. I love Logic.
- 1:21:36Speaker 1: He's only and then, uh, you know you was a
- 1:21:42Speaker 1: Michael Blanco you did the podcast with and the Strain.
- 1:21:45Speaker 1: Yeah Corleon Yeah, yeah, or Michael Corleon. I'm but the
- 1:21:49Speaker 1: we he's called Blanco right. Yeah. Yeah, so that's but uh,
- 1:21:53Speaker 1: how that relationship start because I listened to that podcast.
- 1:21:56Speaker 1: It was a wild ass podcast, you know. Man. One
- 1:22:01Speaker 1: of our team members did design with his mom on it,
- 1:22:04Speaker 1: and he reached out through a mutual army. It was like,
- 1:22:07Speaker 1: I don't get it fucked up with my mother's son. Dude, Like,
- 1:22:09Speaker 1: you know you're gonna do something higher at me? And
- 1:22:11Speaker 1: I was like, oh shiittud's a boss called him. We
- 1:22:14Speaker 1: just bonded. Hell it right away. I had a lot
- 1:22:16Speaker 1: of things, a lot of mutual friends, and just just
- 1:22:20Speaker 1: build a friendship from there, did some business and that's
- 1:22:22Speaker 1: my guy. He's a man. Yeah no, that was you
- 1:22:26Speaker 1: got to bring back burners roundtable, bro. I want to
- 1:22:28Speaker 1: bring him back. I'm working on something right now. I'm
- 1:22:29Speaker 1: working on a deal with it. I just my whole
- 1:22:31Speaker 1: thing is it got to be the right platform. They
- 1:22:32Speaker 1: got to be the right production value. Ninety You gotta
- 1:22:35Speaker 1: do video because the first one you guys didn't do
- 1:22:37Speaker 1: any video, right, it's all audio. Yeah, I want to
- 1:22:40Speaker 1: do I want to do it. I'm talking to someone
- 1:22:41Speaker 1: right now. I just told him, like it got to
- 1:22:43Speaker 1: elevate it got to compliment the level of business I'm
- 1:22:45Speaker 1: doing right now. I don't want to just do it
- 1:22:46Speaker 1: for you know, just to do it. Is it hard? Uh?
- 1:22:50Speaker 1: Because you you know, you hit the road, you do
- 1:22:52Speaker 1: your your yearly shows. Is it hard for you to
- 1:22:56Speaker 1: step out and hit that stage with what's going on
- 1:22:58Speaker 1: right now? Like as far as you like getting over
- 1:23:00Speaker 1: that mental blockade that like ship, there's a thousand people
- 1:23:03Speaker 1: in front of me. I don't know if they got
- 1:23:04Speaker 1: COVID or not. Well, we just I mean all you
- 1:23:07Speaker 1: can do right now, and yeah, no it is fucking scary.
- 1:23:09Speaker 1: I mean all you can do is keep your immune
- 1:23:11Speaker 1: system strong, you know, keep your backstage clean, test everyone
- 1:23:14Speaker 1: that's coming backstage with you, and roll the dice. Man,
- 1:23:17Speaker 1: if I got a showing Oklahoma coming up, the motherfuckers
- 1:23:19Speaker 1: told me it was outside indoors. I'm like, God, damn it.
- 1:23:22Speaker 1: You know what I mean? But it is what it is. Man,
- 1:23:24Speaker 1: Like I get high from the crowd. So what's your
- 1:23:27Speaker 1: You have some crazy fans. One in particular I remember
- 1:23:30Speaker 1: was a guy in Tucson, Arizona, had a portrait of you,
- 1:23:33Speaker 1: the fat dude. He had a portrait of you and
- 1:23:35Speaker 1: his fucking belly. I love that guy, you know what
- 1:23:37Speaker 1: I'm talking about? And where's that send? That guy is
- 1:23:39Speaker 1: roast man. This guy's got a burner portrait on his
- 1:23:42Speaker 1: belly with the Cookies logo underneath of it, like it's
- 1:23:44Speaker 1: Tupac Thug life. Yeah. And I was, I was DJing
- 1:23:47Speaker 1: the show and I look in the crowd. This guy
- 1:23:49Speaker 1: fucking showed me. I was like, oh, this is different.
- 1:23:53Speaker 1: You know what's tired about that ship? Bro? What's tied
- 1:23:55Speaker 1: about is I know deep downside, if you know, God
- 1:23:58Speaker 1: forbid something happens to me. Broma lived for long time, bro, like,
- 1:24:01Speaker 1: and I did that off like staying true to like
- 1:24:03Speaker 1: what I wanted to do, like dough cookies, dough vibes
- 1:24:06Speaker 1: and music. I got a place here for a while.
- 1:24:08Speaker 1: So it's tight to see that because that she ain't
- 1:24:10Speaker 1: going nowhere. Homi's gonna have that forever. He's a grandpa
- 1:24:13Speaker 1: and she's gonna have that right here. Who's that? Oh?
- 1:24:16Speaker 1: This this guy this is you know, it's a good accomplishment, man, Like,
- 1:24:20Speaker 1: people got that ship tattooed all over the world. My
- 1:24:23Speaker 1: logo this nation's compliment. You talk about vibes, I know
- 1:24:28Speaker 1: you and the guy from Raw Papers went at it
- 1:24:31Speaker 1: for a while. What happened there. He's a homie now, dude.
- 1:24:35Speaker 1: You and Josh worked it out. Yeah, he's a homie now.
- 1:24:37Speaker 1: So because it was it was pretty contentious for a while.
- 1:24:40Speaker 1: I know, literally I literally kind of stopped following dude. Yeah,
- 1:24:45Speaker 1: you know, at the end of the day, bro, I
- 1:24:48Speaker 1: think that just like business is emotional, that that category,
- 1:24:51Speaker 1: that rolling paper category is very small, bro, and he's
- 1:24:55Speaker 1: had his, he's had his is very political. Yeah, I
- 1:24:58Speaker 1: think that, Like, I think he expected me to just
- 1:25:02Speaker 1: not go do something in that space, and we just
- 1:25:07Speaker 1: recently we started talking again and I got major. I
- 1:25:10Speaker 1: always say in the interviews too, he is the paper,
- 1:25:12Speaker 1: don He's the one that he's the boss of the
- 1:25:15Speaker 1: paper game. Doesn't mean that I can't do my thing too.
- 1:25:19Speaker 1: So I think we're in a good position now to
- 1:25:20Speaker 1: where he respects what I'm doing and I respect him.
- 1:25:23Speaker 1: I always respect him. Well, you guys had a relationship
- 1:25:25Speaker 1: prior to you launching Vice. Yeah. Yeah, Yeah, he's cool.
- 1:25:29Speaker 1: He's a business mogul. Bro. At the end of the day,
- 1:25:31Speaker 1: like I look up to the kind of business he's accomplished.
- 1:25:34Speaker 1: So it's like I respect him. Now. We had a
- 1:25:36Speaker 1: falling out and I reacted the way it did, and
- 1:25:38Speaker 1: he reacted the way he did towards me. But I
- 1:25:39Speaker 1: think all that time went past and let bygones be
- 1:25:44Speaker 1: by gone, and it's not like either of you guys
- 1:25:45Speaker 1: lost respect for each other. Nah, Bro, I think he respects.
- 1:25:48Speaker 1: I think that I've leveled up a lot since that
- 1:25:50Speaker 1: falling out and he respects where I'm at now. Has
- 1:25:52Speaker 1: the paper business been the most challenging thing you've done?
- 1:25:55Speaker 1: Because it feels like, like you said, it's a very
- 1:25:57Speaker 1: like interesting business. I'm sure at first, Yeah, at first
- 1:26:00Speaker 1: it was challenging, Bro, because there was a lot of roadblocks.
- 1:26:02Speaker 1: You know, was it from him or was it from
- 1:26:04Speaker 1: people other competitors. I'm sure it was. But now we
- 1:26:08Speaker 1: got this in chokehold is the wrap? Yeah, because like
- 1:26:11Speaker 1: I see, I see it myself now. Vibes is like everywhere, bro, like,
- 1:26:15Speaker 1: and we're doing cool products like the Cali Like that's
- 1:26:17Speaker 1: innovative as fuck, Like the first person to launch like
- 1:26:20Speaker 1: a cylinder style you know, product where you could just
- 1:26:24Speaker 1: stuff it and blaze it. Yeah, a cone and cone's cool.
- 1:26:27Speaker 1: The cone don't really hit like that, you know what
- 1:26:28Speaker 1: I mean so, I mean, I'm fired up. We're doing
- 1:26:31Speaker 1: cool things like the Cabano, the Cali. We got a
- 1:26:33Speaker 1: lot of things coming up. Which one is the red? One?
- 1:26:35Speaker 1: Is that the Cali? Well, the Cali the red? So like, okay,
- 1:26:39Speaker 1: you got hemp is red, rice is blue, and then
- 1:26:42Speaker 1: black is ultra thin and green is organic hemp. So
- 1:26:45Speaker 1: we have just different exkews. What's next, man, besides the movies,
- 1:26:49Speaker 1: besides the TV? Is there anything else? I want to
- 1:26:53Speaker 1: be a I want to be a chef. Bro, you
- 1:26:55Speaker 1: can cook, I can cook good. So you want to
- 1:26:57Speaker 1: open a restaurant or you want to be a chef.
- 1:26:59Speaker 1: I want to first be a chef's like like an
- 1:27:01Speaker 1: ideal world cook for you after this interview, you know,
- 1:27:03Speaker 1: I mean like do some personal chef ship and then
- 1:27:06Speaker 1: maybe one day open the restaurant. Yeah, what is your
- 1:27:09Speaker 1: if you had to open any kind of restaurant, Latin fusion?
- 1:27:12Speaker 1: Probably Latin fusion. Yeah, I like that. So let's say
- 1:27:17Speaker 1: I'm like, burn, cook me your best dish, come on
- 1:27:20Speaker 1: over for dinner, whip some ship up. What are you making? Ship?
- 1:27:26Speaker 1: Probably like a like a right now, My best dish
- 1:27:30Speaker 1: right now is the lamb chops of the reduced white
- 1:27:32Speaker 1: wine sauce. Some nice Christy lemon potatoes are nice sold
- 1:27:35Speaker 1: on the side super fire. Maybe put over some yellow
- 1:27:38Speaker 1: saffron rice or something like that. Is your wife a
- 1:27:42Speaker 1: better cook than you? She has more plates than me.
- 1:27:46Speaker 1: She has more plates. What you make, you can you
- 1:27:48Speaker 1: can throw down, but she got it. She's got more.
- 1:27:51Speaker 1: But it's team. We both throwned to cook together. So
- 1:27:53Speaker 1: you know, so you're getting into food businesses. What's next
- 1:27:56Speaker 1: for the Empire? Probably think so, Hey, man, I could
- 1:27:59Speaker 1: see it, bro Bernie hunting bro. I would see how
- 1:28:02Speaker 1: dope is it? Because you were talking about being on
- 1:28:04Speaker 1: hate street like freestyle and how dope is it to
- 1:28:05Speaker 1: have your own shit on on that street? Now? Do
- 1:28:10Speaker 1: you feel like San Francisco? Because I'm now that I'm
- 1:28:13Speaker 1: working with Empire. I go to San Francisco often at
- 1:28:15Speaker 1: least once a month I'm there, and you know, I'll
- 1:28:18Speaker 1: talk to guys like like a man or you know, shabbaz,
- 1:28:21Speaker 1: like guys from the Bay and they're like, yo, the
- 1:28:23Speaker 1: energy is kind of out of the city right now.
- 1:28:25Speaker 1: It is like, like, what do you think kind of
- 1:28:28Speaker 1: the Bay is right now? Because I'll go there and
- 1:28:30Speaker 1: I'll be like, man, I remember when I was coming
- 1:28:31Speaker 1: here five or six years ago, Like there was like
- 1:28:33Speaker 1: a it feels like the vibe is kind of missing
- 1:28:36Speaker 1: right now. The Bear is a tough place. That's the
- 1:28:40Speaker 1: best way I could describe it. It's just tough. Every
- 1:28:43Speaker 1: aspect of life just tough. It's expensive, expensive. Not a
- 1:28:49Speaker 1: lot of people made it from the Bay. People don't
- 1:28:51Speaker 1: trust each other, there's no unity, Like it's just weird. Yeah,
- 1:28:55Speaker 1: it feels like a very like especially now too, Like
- 1:28:59Speaker 1: you can't even go to a fucking restaurant if you're
- 1:29:01Speaker 1: not vaccinated. It's just you can't even go to a
- 1:29:03Speaker 1: restaurant without getting your windows broken either. So it's like,
- 1:29:06Speaker 1: you know, oh yeah, because it's it's the smashing grab capital.
- 1:29:08Speaker 1: So I'm doing the movie Splash City. It's crazy School
- 1:29:12Speaker 1: New Years You drive? Is that what the movie is
- 1:29:14Speaker 1: kind of? Yeah, it's all based on that. Yeah, because
- 1:29:17Speaker 1: for people who don't know the smash and grab capital
- 1:29:20Speaker 1: of the world, it's crazy. Your window gets smashed out
- 1:29:23Speaker 1: if you got anything in your fucking car, and if
- 1:29:25Speaker 1: you don't just pop windows, they're just gonna see what's
- 1:29:27Speaker 1: in there. Yeah, that ship is wild, man, That ship
- 1:29:32Speaker 1: is crazy. So the new album that you're working on
- 1:29:33Speaker 1: right now, is it going to be coming up for
- 1:29:35Speaker 1: the end of the year. Yeah, what's it called? Do
- 1:29:38Speaker 1: we know? I'm working on that name right now. It's very.
- 1:29:42Speaker 1: The name is very. It's gonna take some I have
- 1:29:45Speaker 1: to get some permission for the name. But just know
- 1:29:48Speaker 1: it's gonna be mafia. I leave it at that. Some
- 1:29:50Speaker 1: mafia ship, mafia, some movie ship. Nah. But it's tight, bro,
- 1:29:56Speaker 1: trust me, it's the next level. Dude. It's gonna be sick.
- 1:29:59Speaker 1: I'll tell you off lie. You always are so good
- 1:30:02Speaker 1: at your artwork too. This one's gonna be fucking crazy. Yeah.
- 1:30:06Speaker 1: I feel like you've had the same dude doing your
- 1:30:08Speaker 1: covers from the Jump photo Doctor Kills. It's best. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:30:13Speaker 1: it's it's like, uh, everything's consistent except for I want
- 1:30:16Speaker 1: to say, the one where you had the guy do
- 1:30:17Speaker 1: the weed. Was that the Coscatto? Yeah, yeah, Big Piscatto.
- 1:30:21Speaker 1: Yeah we know it was that. Yeah. It's so crazy
- 1:30:25Speaker 1: how you don't even know because you have like fifty
- 1:30:27Speaker 1: million albums, I have no clue anymore. Well, listen, man,
- 1:30:31Speaker 1: I can't wait to hear the new music you have.
- 1:30:35Speaker 1: Of course, Bro, when you hit me, I was like,
- 1:30:36Speaker 1: we gotta do it for sure. Yeah, go go get
- 1:30:40Speaker 1: you some cookies. Yeah, man, go gies your lungs. Sorry, man,
- 1:30:43Speaker 1: put your lungs right, get your gear right, Smoke some vibes.
- 1:30:47Speaker 1: Zuomi's the biggest like retailer that holds cookies right now,
- 1:30:51Speaker 1: probably the biggest chain story. Yeah, it's so crazy, man.
- 1:30:54Speaker 1: I just I got fucking the new ship yard dropping luggage.
- 1:30:57Speaker 1: Fucking I I'm not gonna stop. I bought the cookies slides.
- 1:31:00Speaker 1: My puppy fucked them up. Shout out to my new
- 1:31:01Speaker 1: French bulldog fucked up my red ones. Don't worry, We've
- 1:31:04Speaker 1: got another box. Yeah. Yeah, listen, man, I appreciate you,
- 1:31:07Speaker 1: burn and I am proud of you. Bro. Man, I
- 1:31:11Speaker 1: will go do what I do. I'm gonna go get
- 1:31:12Speaker 1: to work. Man, Let's go, Burner Bootleg cap podcast boom
