- 0:13Our number three show, number forty nine twenty of the Morning Show with Preston
- 0:18Scott. I'm Preston. That's Grant. Great to be with you. Day
- 0:22eight thirty two of America held hostage and I am thrilled to have with us
- 0:27once again for a monthly visit chat, if you will us Congresswoman Cat Camick
- 0:33from Florida's third congressional District. Congresswoman, how are you? Good morning?
- 0:38How are you? I'm doing well? Dude? Do your friends call you
- 0:41congresswoman? No? God, no, are you kidding me? Well?
- 0:51I was just curious. I mean, I mean, it's it's it can
- 0:55be a term of endearment and it could also be a term of great insult.
- 0:58I mean, I don't know. No, I don't even let my
- 1:00team call me congresswoman. Every one calls me Cat. And as we speak
- 1:06right now, I'm literally helping take the trash out with my husband. So
- 1:08if that's any indication of how they keep me humble, there you go,
- 1:15come on, take it out the trash. So am I to assume you're
- 1:22in Washington? Then no, No, We've got we've got some trash down
- 1:27here too. You know bananigans that we seem to always find ourselves dealing with
- 1:34Hey, I gotta ask you, um the the White House secretary, who
- 1:38is just remarkable in her own light. Oh my gosh, what a peach.
- 1:44Yeah boy, Um Joe Biden is reduced to illegal immigration. Oh my
- 1:52gosh. You know present last night I ended up doing an entire Facebook live
- 1:57on one of the other lives that this administration had told recently, which was
- 2:02that Republicans wanted to cut veterans benefits, which it went so far as to
- 2:07actually issue a press release about this on their website and do the whole song
- 2:13and dance over the debt ceiling negotiation, which, as we all know,
- 2:16is complete BS. It's a nonsense. You can do a quick Google search,
- 2:21you can lead the text of the bill. Veterans aren't mentioned once.
- 2:23Now they're saying that he's reduced immigration illegal immigration by nine I think they meant
- 2:28to say he's increased it by ninety percent infectually more than that. If you
- 2:31look at their own data from Homeland Security, it's absurd. I mean,
- 2:37this is what I know. We all get frustrated, but looking more broadly,
- 2:43think about what they're saying and how they're saying it. On not just
- 2:47this but everything. They have destroyed the credibility of the United States by straight
- 2:55up lying, and then they act shocked and appalled when people don't believe their
- 3:00lies. And then our allies abroad are sitting there saying, how can we
- 3:05depend on these people? You can't trust the thing that they say. They
- 3:07lie to their own people all the time. And then our enemies are saying,
- 3:12they don't have a clue what's going on. They're on people don't even
- 3:15trust them. This administration is dangerous. How is it possible that and this
- 3:22is a common refrain with you and me, how is it possible that the
- 3:27for example, the Republican Senatorial Committee, the Republican House Committee, why are
- 3:31they not running ads, grabbing all of these sound bites, one issue at
- 3:37a time, and just running it, just letting people hear and see the
- 3:43lies and then the counterbalance the truth. So you and I have agreed on
- 3:49this for as long as I can. Remember that Republicans have always been slow
- 3:53and weak on the messaging, and I am eternally optimistic. So I think
- 4:00that's going to turn around. That we're starting to see some signs of life,
- 4:03and we are starting to do that. So there's thirty one targeted seats
- 4:08around the country where we're trying to take out Democrats, and there's digital ads
- 4:15going up with those kinds of clips, billboards, you know, things like
- 4:20that. All that is starting to happen because voters in these particular targeted seats,
- 4:28they I think, do not understand how radical of the left has become.
- 4:32So this is happening. We of course don't see it in our neck
- 4:38of the woods because we've got Republican's representing so many of our seats, and
- 4:43so we wouldn't see those types of ads. So it should be a little
- 4:46bit encouraging that Republicans are starting to target and use the dollars that they raise
- 4:53and work hard to raise a little bit more efficiently. The Morning Show with
- 4:56Preston Scotty one News Radio one hundred point step WFLA. She represents Florida's third
- 5:08congressional district as Congresswoman Cat Camick with us this morning on the Morning Show,
- 5:14Let's set aside the obvious answer of Joe Biden and the extreme of the Democrat
- 5:19Party, which is at this point, I think a majority of the party
- 5:24in Congress, in your opinion, what is the single biggest problem issued danger
- 5:30that Congress can address. Oh ah, do we have eight hours? Well,
- 5:40and that's I mean, and there's that's part of the problem, Kat.
- 5:44But but still if we if if let's say the United States gives you
- 5:49a White House and the Senate is their consensus in your caucus, what is
- 5:59job one? Hyps? Okay, there's two. There's two hypotheticals here.
- 6:04There's one of what can we do today with just the Republicans in the House,
- 6:11and then the hypothetical two of what we could do if we had the
- 6:13Senate, the House and the White House. Right, So hypothetical one with
- 6:18us just having one chamber. And this is happening. It is taking on
- 6:25the regulatory regime. People don't realize this, and you're probably sitting here saying,
- 6:30this is probably the least sexy thing you could talk about at eight o'clock
- 6:33on a morning. I'm sixty two years old. I don't go with sexy.
- 6:42This is why we don't have nice things. Preston, honestly, come
- 6:45on, come on, let's just deal with it. So think about this
- 6:49regulatory regime. It is I call it affectionately the fourth branch of government because
- 6:57the regulatory regime are really the core, the rotten core, where we have
- 7:04all of these issues with beer. Crops that are unelected, can't be fired,
- 7:11don't have names, you can't find out where they are, and they
- 7:15cost off as taxpayers two trillion dollars a year more in what we pay for
- 7:20our goods and services. We can't even get a ballpark on what those regulations
- 7:26cost us taxpayers in hiring, keeping those people employed, enforcement compliance. That
- 7:32number doesn't even exist. So in the short term, with one chamber,
- 7:36strategically we're trying to jam the Senate in the White House into forcing them to
- 7:43cut down the regulatory regime significantly. So that's a huge, huge thing that
- 7:48people don't even realize exists. It's the regulatory environment that kills industry. That's
- 7:54the thing that they're using to get their political agenda done. That's something we
- 7:57can do right away. Second thing that you ask me on that hypothetical was
- 8:01what would be order of business Number one? I think you got to secure
- 8:03the border. You have to secure the border in like a real meaningful way.
- 8:09That has to happen because if we don't stem that flow, if we
- 8:13don't stop the illegal immigration, that's coming across. We're gon we're just going
- 8:18to be irreparably harm second thing we need to do is the spending and the
- 8:26debt. You got thirty two trillion dollars in debt and you have a deficit
- 8:30that we keep tinkering with. What we would need is someone to have a
- 8:33backbone of steel who stands up and says, y'all, this is going to
- 8:37be painful, but we can no longer sustain the interest alone on the debt.
- 8:41We have to start paying down the principle, which means we're going to
- 8:45tighten our belt significantly and we're gonna pay down this debt. We could put
- 8:48in place a structured debt repayment plan that would get this country back on track
- 8:54and save generations from that burden. And when we are strong economics, when
- 9:00we have our ducks in a row here, we are the powerhouse that we
- 9:03need to be. And until we address that, everything else takes a back
- 9:09seat. God bless you for finally saying it. I can. I have
- 9:13been waiting for members of Congress to step up and say, especially in the
- 9:20Republican Party, hello, let's deal with the debt, because that's been that
- 9:24was even a failure under the Trump administration. We did not address the debt,
- 9:30but all right, stand by, we're gonna pick up right there.
- 9:33I feel so bad not just cutting off our conversation, but there are birds
- 9:37singing in the background, for Pete's sake. I mean, when you're talking
- 9:43to somebody and birds are singing in the background, you just feel evil for
- 9:46stopping it. Sixteen minutes after the hour, more with Congresswoman Catchmock on The
- 9:52Morning Show with Preston Scott. WLA on your phone with the iHeart radio app
- 9:56and on hundreds of devices like Alexa, Google Home, Xbox and so so
- 10:00here we go my Hearts radio station. The US Congresswoman Cat Cammock with US
- 10:09Florida's third Congressional district our guests here in the Morning Show with Preston Scott.
- 10:13One more segment, Cat EV's it seems like every automobile manufacturer in the world
- 10:18is going ev ev EV And if we went all evs tomorrow, we couldn't
- 10:24handle it. We can't power the grid, we can't charge them up.
- 10:28The cost of replacing the batteries is crazy. Is there a role Congress needs
- 10:31to play looking down the road to slowing this train down because we're not there
- 10:37yet. That's that's the crazy part about it. You have these these evy
- 10:43batteries that you know, when you go to replace them, they're ten thousand
- 10:46dollars. You can't sustain them. You've got, you know, the electric
- 10:50charging stations to take forty five minutes. And the government is subsidizing this,
- 10:56which means you and I are subsidizing this. This is a faulty strategy.
- 11:00And when I met with one of the biggest car manufacturers in the world the
- 11:03other day, they said, and I quote, we need help. While
- 11:07we appreciate the big push that um, sorry, my neighbor's driving by right
- 11:15now, I'm walking on the road present. Listen, my neighbor Bubba literally
- 11:24just drove by in his four truck. He would say in half when when
- 11:28they say we appreciate the emphasis, we appreciate that you guys are trying to
- 11:35push us in this direction. We need currently three hundred mind new mind to
- 11:43sustain the minerals that are for the batteries that are currently inexistence, the cars
- 11:50that are on the road. Where in the heck are we going to get
- 11:54those minds? If the Biden administration refuses refuses to allow us to mind for
- 12:00our own critical mineral. Well, I was just gonna I was gonna tie
- 12:03this, kat I was going to tie this to the fact that he's pushing
- 12:05the military to go electric. And all of this makes us more dependent on
- 12:09China because they're cornering the lithium market exactly, everything from cobalt to nickel to
- 12:16the lithium one hundred percent. We are seeing where even the projects that we
- 12:22are financing abroad, like in Australia, for example, there is no restriction
- 12:28on paxed, hail funded mining in Australia being sold to China. Tell me
- 12:33that's not crazy. Tell me we're not insane. That right, there is
- 12:37something that people should be screaming at the top of their lungs. But it's
- 12:41almost like lackable. You cannot in but one person simply cannot stand there and
- 12:46say they're spending out of control. In the ev situation is a mess,
- 12:50and here's all the things that we're uncovering. You start to feel crazy.
- 12:54And so that's why I think we have to be so dedicated in getting the
- 13:01House to a supermajority, getting the Senate to the majority, and winning back
- 13:07the White House. We have got some serious damage control to do. We
- 13:09basically need to put a tourniquet on this thing and stop the bleeding. That's
- 13:13the level that we're out, and we're going to bleed out in a few
- 13:16in a few years if you don't stop this. All right, So let
- 13:18me end where you and I almost kind of started when we first started these
- 13:24little meetings every month, I had told you that, in my opinion,
- 13:30Well, let me set this up. Barack Obama said when he took when
- 13:33he took over the White House, that his goal was to transform the economy
- 13:39and this country. I think most of us would agree. He went in
- 13:43that direction, but he didn't do nearly what's been done just in the last
- 13:46two years alone. And so my question is this, If all of this
- 13:52that we're talking about, and the myriad of issues that we haven't even touched
- 13:56on today, if it's not intentional, what is it. I go back
- 14:05to what I said, then, The ultra progressive left agenda is not about
- 14:11a singular issue. It is about the agenda of dependency and control. They
- 14:18grow the size of government, They make people dependent on programs so that they
- 14:22being the big government, individuals can stay in control and in power. That
- 14:28is all. This is When people ask me, why do we do the
- 14:31spending, why are we doing this ev stuff, Why are we expanding welfare?
- 14:35Why are we doing all these things, it's because they want people beholden
- 14:41to government. Because human nature, you're not going to vote against your quote
- 14:46unquote best interests, even when the best interests would be for you to be
- 14:50free and independent and not beholden to a government entity. In the short term,
- 14:54if the government is paying subsidizing your mortgage and paying for your and covering
- 15:01the bills for your kids, and your healthcare is covered by the taxpayers,
- 15:05do you really think you're going to vote for the person who turns around and
- 15:09says, hey, for the long term sustainability, health, in ordination,
- 15:11and our people people to be independent and not tied to government. It's a
- 15:18hard message to sell the people who have their entire life wrapped up in government
- 15:24dependency, in control. That's what it is.
