- 0:08Speaker 1: Welcome to the Favorites, the podcast presented by BET three
- 0:12Speaker 1: sixty five. We are part of the Volume Podcast Network.
- 0:16Speaker 1: I am Schad Milman, Chief Content Officer of the Action Network.
- 0:19Speaker 1: I'm joined as always by my co host, my companion,
- 0:22Speaker 1: mikem Padre, my BFF professional better Simon Hunter. Hello, Simon,
- 0:29Speaker 1: Hello Chad.
- 0:30Speaker 2: How are we doing? Brother?
- 0:33Speaker 1: It is potentially the most important announcement we will make
- 0:40Speaker 1: all season long, Simon, because today we are announcing that
- 0:47Speaker 1: the Favorite one hundred thousand dollars Pro Football Pickum Contest
- 0:53Speaker 1: is back. People can sign up starting today. We're going
- 0:59Speaker 1: to give them all the details in just a second.
- 1:03Speaker 1: On Thursday, we'll have our final episode before Week one begins.
- 1:08Speaker 1: Simon and I will cover all of our best bets
- 1:10Speaker 1: for the twenty twenty four NFL season. I think I've
- 1:13Speaker 1: only stolen three or four from one of our guests
- 1:16Speaker 1: today and Simon. I also over the weekend was making
- 1:20Speaker 1: some futures bets. I found a bet two bets that
- 1:25Speaker 1: I don't think are on your list. I think they're
- 1:28Speaker 1: definitely on one of our guest lists, but I don't
- 1:31Speaker 1: think they're on your list. And I'm so excited to
- 1:33Speaker 1: talk about them on Thursday. Today, we are celebrating Week
- 1:37Speaker 1: one at the college football season with two of our
- 1:39Speaker 1: favorite Action Network colleagues. They are actual O g's. This
- 1:45Speaker 1: is the seventh season of them serving as the lifeblood
- 1:52Speaker 1: of Actions college football coverage. You can hear them every
- 1:55Speaker 1: single week on their beloved college football podcast, Big Bets
- 2:00Speaker 1: on Campus and the new BBOC YouTube channel. You can
- 2:06Speaker 1: also catch them live on Saturdays with Brett McMurphy and
- 2:10Speaker 1: Mike Calabresee for our BBOC Live show also on the
- 2:14Speaker 1: BBOC YouTube channel. Folks have to go check it out.
- 2:17Speaker 1: Colin Wilson and Stucky. College Football is back, boys, Welcome
- 2:23Speaker 1: to the show.
- 2:26Speaker 3: Thanks for having me, Chad. It's good to see Stucky here.
- 2:28Speaker 2: I love is.
- 2:28Speaker 4: I always love his over the ear headphones. I want
- 2:30Speaker 4: to get me a parents out of these drink eating ear.
- 2:32Speaker 5: Pods, pitch pods, pitch buds. Yeah, it's actually chat. It's
- 2:38Speaker 5: actually the eighth season. Before we were actually producer.
- 2:43Speaker 1: I only read the scripts doc.
- 2:46Speaker 5: He wasn't producing then before we were Action Network. When
- 2:49Speaker 5: we first started, we were Sportsaction dot Io and the app,
- 2:55Speaker 5: and we had a podcast on there called Degen and Juice.
- 3:00Speaker 5: It was a really bad producer who yeah, missed, missed
- 3:04Speaker 5: a lot of our episodes just wouldn't show up, and
- 3:07Speaker 5: it was we upgraded there significantly. Not to give too
- 3:11Speaker 5: much credit to Matt Mitchell, but yeah, Di, Jen and
- 3:13Speaker 5: Juice was our original podcast, and then we have smoothly
- 3:18Speaker 5: transitioned to Big Bets on campus since so really the
- 3:21Speaker 5: eighth year together previewing college football and uh, it's a
- 3:26Speaker 5: labor of love, and now the sport has certainly evolved since.
- 3:30Speaker 1: Well listen. Uh. One of the first things I listened
- 3:34Speaker 1: to when I decided to ditch ESPN and join what
- 3:37Speaker 1: was not even yet the Action Network because we hadn't
- 3:39Speaker 1: come up with a name and didn't have a staff
- 3:41Speaker 1: or employees or an office or anything, was did Jen
- 3:46Speaker 1: and Juice with you and Colin? And I remember I
- 3:50Speaker 1: listened to it. I was in my kitchen. I took
- 3:53Speaker 1: out my AirPods. I said to my wife, I go,
- 3:57Speaker 1: I can't believe I bet my career on some dude
- 4:01Speaker 1: On and Juice, on some dude whose name I don't
- 4:04Speaker 1: even know, that they call Stucky, and another dude whose
- 4:07Speaker 1: real job is like some kind of engineer consultant. I
- 4:12Speaker 1: don't even know what he does, but this is where
- 4:14Speaker 1: we are, and look where we are. As a reminder,
- 4:17Speaker 1: the Favorite podcast is presented by Bet three six five.

- 6:38Speaker 1: are going to land on. It is the spine of
- 6:40Speaker 1: our show during the season. If you don't go to
- 6:43Speaker 1: Favorites dot Actionnetwork dot Com. Then you must not like

- 6:56Speaker 1: the spread. This is your chance to prove to yourself
- 7:00Speaker 1: that you can do it, that you can commit to
- 7:02Speaker 1: a season long contest Favorites dot Actionnetwork dot Com. Last
- 7:08Speaker 1: year we had twelve thousand people sign up. We would
- 7:11Speaker 1: like to have more this year. We really want to
- 7:14Speaker 1: impress our friends at bet three six five. All Right,
- 7:19Speaker 1: Matt Mitchell, I'm sure he's going to say something that
- 7:22Speaker 1: won't alienate anybody, but he is going to set up
- 7:25Speaker 1: this entire contest. Here he is with more details.
- 7:30Speaker 2: Thank you, Chad.
- 7:31Speaker 6: Obviously very excited that we've launched, as you and everyone
- 7:35Speaker 6: listening can imagine, launching a contest where we give away
- 7:39Speaker 6: one hundred thousand dollars of Beth through sixty Five's money
- 7:42Speaker 6: takes a tremendous amount of work. So I want to
- 7:44Speaker 6: thank everyone for their patients. I'm going to quickly answer
- 7:47Speaker 6: the most consistent questions I get about the contest, So
- 7:51Speaker 6: if you're listening out there, feel free to, you know,
- 7:53Speaker 6: rewind and listen back later.
- 7:55Speaker 1: So here we go.
- 7:56Speaker 6: First, how do I sign up?
- 7:57Speaker 1: And make pecks.
- 7:58Speaker 6: You go to Favorites dot act network dot com. If
- 8:01Speaker 6: you signed up last year, you can use the exact
- 8:03Speaker 6: same credentials if you want. Can I make my week
- 8:06Speaker 6: one picks now?
- 8:07Speaker 2: Yes?
- 8:08Speaker 6: In fact, you should do that as soon as I'm
- 8:09Speaker 6: done talking. How many entries? Can I have one? Just
- 8:13Speaker 6: one entry per person? Come on, you already knew the
- 8:16Speaker 6: answer to that one. Am I eligible to participate in
- 8:19Speaker 6: this contest? That's a great question. If you are a
- 8:22Speaker 6: US resident, if you're at least twenty one years old
- 8:25Speaker 6: right now today, and if you live in Washington, DC,
- 8:29Speaker 6: or any American state except Rhode Island or Washington State,
- 8:33Speaker 6: congrats you're eligible to participate and win cash prizes. Matt,
- 8:38Speaker 6: Why can't I play if I'm only nineteen years old,
- 8:40Speaker 6: or if I live in Washington State or Rhode Island
- 8:43Speaker 6: or Sri Lanka.
- 8:43Speaker 2: Or Serbia or whatever.
- 8:45Speaker 6: Dude, I have no idea.
- 8:47Speaker 2: Those are the rules.
- 8:48Speaker 6: I'm not an attorney. If you're upset, contact your Attorney
- 8:52Speaker 6: general or your ambassador or Judge Judy or whatever. Don't
- 8:55Speaker 6: complain to me. I have no control over it. I'm
- 8:58Speaker 6: just a man trying to give away one hundred thousand dollars.
- 9:01Speaker 6: Can I change my pecks after I've made them? Yes,
- 9:04Speaker 6: you can change your pecks as many times as you
- 9:06Speaker 6: want until one pm on Sundays. You get a confirmation
- 9:09Speaker 6: email every time you confirm your picks. And remember when
- 9:13Speaker 6: you sign up, use an email that you actually check.
- 9:16Speaker 6: Use an email that you actually check, because it's the
- 9:19Speaker 6: only way we can contact you. If you win a
- 9:22Speaker 6: cash prize, do the lines in the contest change? Yes,
- 9:26Speaker 6: The spreads in the contest will move with the market,
- 9:29Speaker 6: So if you make picks on say a Thursday, and
- 9:31Speaker 6: want to change any one of your pecks on Sunday,
- 9:34Speaker 6: you must make all five of your picks again at
- 9:37Speaker 6: whatever the current spreads are. And remember there are no
- 9:40Speaker 6: pushes in the contest. These are contest lines, so they'll
- 9:44Speaker 6: all be half point lines. Your pecks win or they lose.
- 9:48Speaker 6: What about ties? Each week there is a tiebreaker question.
- 9:52Speaker 6: It will almost always be total passing yards On Monday
- 9:56Speaker 6: Night Football. Each week there is a one thousand dollar
- 10:00Speaker 6: weekly prize. Like Chad said, to win it, you probably
- 10:04Speaker 6: need to go five and oh and get very close
- 10:06Speaker 6: to the tiebreaker. If you go five and oh and
- 10:08Speaker 6: you nail the tiebreaker exactly, that prize becomes two thousand dollars,
- 10:12Speaker 6: and if after the tiebreaker, two or more entries are
- 10:16Speaker 6: still tied, the winner is the entry who submitted first
- 10:20Speaker 6: and for the season long contest, and that fight for
- 10:23Speaker 6: the forty thousand dollars first place prize. Season long contest
- 10:27Speaker 6: tiebreaker is your total tiebreaker differential over the course of
- 10:30Speaker 6: the season, So if you want the best chance at
- 10:33Speaker 6: the big money, please take the tiebreaker seriously. And finally,
- 10:38Speaker 6: are there any weird exceptions that I should know about? Yes,
- 10:41Speaker 6: there is one. We will drop your lowest weekly score
- 10:45Speaker 6: after week five. So if let's say you sign up today,
- 10:49Speaker 6: you make your picks every week, and then one week
- 10:51Speaker 6: between week one and week five, you absolutely each shit
- 10:54Speaker 6: and you go one and four or zero and five.
- 10:57Speaker 6: Don't worry dry your eyes because everyone's lowest score is
- 11:01Speaker 6: a race from the contest after week five concludes, and
- 11:05Speaker 6: after that point it's a race to the finish.
- 11:08Speaker 1: That's it.
- 11:08Speaker 2: Folks, go to Favorites dot action network dot.
- 11:11Speaker 6: Com to sign up, and I wish everyone the best
- 11:13Speaker 6: of block.
- 11:16Speaker 1: Thank you did a nice job there. We haven't even
- 11:18Speaker 1: announced the contest. We've already got hundreds of people signed up.
- 11:23Speaker 1: We had a huge goal last year, big hairy goal.
- 11:27Speaker 1: I think we wanted to get to like four thousand.
- 11:28Speaker 1: We got to twelve. Let's see what we can do
- 11:31Speaker 1: with a bigger show this year. More listeners giving away
- 11:35Speaker 1: one hundred grand if you're listening to the show, you
- 11:37Speaker 1: like to bet favorites dot actionnetwork dot com. All right, finally,
- 11:41Speaker 1: like college football this year. We had a great start
- 11:45Speaker 1: this past weekend. I have questions about Florida State. People
- 11:48Speaker 1: seem to love to hate Florida State. But before we
- 11:51Speaker 1: even get to that, I know Simon is like chomping
- 11:54Speaker 1: at the bit to ask about the playoff. Simon, we'll
- 12:00Speaker 1: talk about playoffs? You kidding me? Playoff?
- 12:04Speaker 2: My guy Stucky, who loves it well to anyone else?
- 12:07Speaker 2: I know? My man's always doing college football, college basketball? Stucky?
- 12:10Speaker 2: How do you feel about the college playoffs? Brother? Is this?
- 12:13Speaker 2: Do you love it? You hate it? Are you going
- 12:14Speaker 2: to miss the way it was or are you just
- 12:17Speaker 2: going to embrace the change and see what it's going
- 12:19Speaker 2: to become.
- 12:20Speaker 5: I personally love it first of all, Like it doesn't
- 12:23Speaker 5: matter what the as a better, it doesn't matter what.
- 12:25Speaker 5: Just tell me what the poeman is tell me who's playing,
- 12:27Speaker 5: and we'll try to find some winners. But I actually
- 12:30Speaker 5: think it's going to add more excitement. It'll make conference
- 12:32Speaker 5: championship weekend more exciting, more meaningful. The gap between you know,
- 12:37Speaker 5: conference championship weekend and then the next meaningful college football
- 12:41Speaker 5: game shrinks. There's going to be some games that don't
- 12:44Speaker 5: mean as much at the epp or echelon of teams
- 12:46Speaker 5: like you can afford to drop a game, But overall,
- 12:49Speaker 5: I think it's going to increase the amount of meaningful games. Right,
- 12:52Speaker 5: and you have this group of five race for that
- 12:55Speaker 5: that highest strength team to get in. So I personally
- 12:58Speaker 5: love it. I think it's going to be exciting. From
- 12:59Speaker 5: a betting perspective. I am looking forward to this to
- 13:04Speaker 5: make or miss a playoff market, Curious to see how
- 13:08Speaker 5: often this market stays up and is up throughout the season.
- 13:12Speaker 5: I would imagine it gets updated weekly, new market for
- 13:15Speaker 5: odds makers too, so there could be some opportunity there
- 13:18Speaker 5: after teams lose. So I'm looking forward to breaking that
- 13:21Speaker 5: down because in the past it was just like, all right,
- 13:24Speaker 5: it's one of these you know, these five teams are
- 13:26Speaker 5: gonna be the you know, one of these five teams
- 13:28Speaker 5: are all going to make the four spots, and it's
- 13:29Speaker 5: gonna be one of these two teams that make the
- 13:31Speaker 5: collegeball playoff. Like the futures market really wasn't intriguing in
- 13:36Speaker 5: college football, but now with this make a playoff market,
- 13:41Speaker 5: I think it just adds a lot of intrigues. So
- 13:42Speaker 5: I'm looking forward to it. The one thing I'm not
- 13:45Speaker 5: is just from a pure workload perspective. You know, I
- 13:48Speaker 5: do college basketball too. Football, they just keep extending seasons
- 13:52Speaker 5: like the NFL is probably gonna add a game. College
- 13:54Speaker 5: football is going longer, so that overlap with college basketball
- 13:57Speaker 5: gets more difficult. So yeah, trying to figure that out
- 14:01Speaker 5: is going to be a logistical nightmare. But it is
- 14:03Speaker 5: what it is. It's a labor of love, So I'm
- 14:06Speaker 5: looking forward to it.
- 14:08Speaker 1: Colin, Should we assume that the SEC and the Big
- 14:13Speaker 1: ten teams are the favorites to win the college football
- 14:19Speaker 1: title and advance in the College Football Playoffs and dominate
- 14:23Speaker 1: the entries in the college football playoffs?
- 14:26Speaker 3: Absolutely, Listen.
- 14:27Speaker 4: We didn't need twelve teams to figure out who's the
- 14:29Speaker 4: best and should compete for the national championship. We were
- 14:31Speaker 4: doing fine with four, everybody knew the fifth seed can
- 14:33Speaker 4: never win the national title. That's my only complaint. The
- 14:36Speaker 4: one thing that I love about this is that now
- 14:38Speaker 4: we have meaningful games that are happening before Christmas. Because
- 14:41Speaker 4: both season was essentially broken. Everybody was opting out, coaches
- 14:44Speaker 4: were on their way. It interrupted the recruiting cycle that
- 14:46Speaker 4: coaches were more focused on the portals mixed in there.
- 14:50Speaker 4: I mean, college football is just a mess right now
- 14:51Speaker 4: with the schedule. So I am happy that we have
- 14:53Speaker 4: meaningful games before Christmas, meaningful games on New Year's Day,
- 14:57Speaker 4: and then we continue into the NFL playoffs. I love
- 15:00Speaker 4: it from the excitement perspective. To me, the Big Ten
- 15:04Speaker 4: in the SEC, now that they've grown, they're just going
- 15:07Speaker 4: to gobble up everything else acc Big Twelve. I don't
- 15:11Speaker 4: think the Big Twelve is going to produce any national
- 15:13Speaker 4: championship contender whatsoever, although I do think it's the most
- 15:16Speaker 4: exciting conference out of the Power four the SEC. In
- 15:19Speaker 4: the Big Ten, I expect to take all the spots
- 15:21Speaker 4: in the semi final. But I will say this about
- 15:23Speaker 4: the College Ruble Playoff. With these new rule changes, there
- 15:27Speaker 4: is an opportunity to gamble, and I'm going to say
- 15:29Speaker 4: right now that the fifth seed, whoever gets the fifth seed,
- 15:32Speaker 4: they are automatically going to the semi finals, because if
- 15:35Speaker 4: you think about it, the Big ten and the SEC
- 15:37Speaker 4: are so good. One of them is going to fill
- 15:39Speaker 4: the fifth seed, and then the ACC and the Big
- 15:41Speaker 4: twelve are going to fill the three and four. So
- 15:43Speaker 4: if you're the five seed, you're going to get to
- 15:45Speaker 4: host a group of five team spread's gonna be like
- 15:48Speaker 4: twenty four, and then you're going to play the conference
- 15:50Speaker 4: champion from the Big twelve or the ACC. You're going
- 15:53Speaker 4: to be favored again as a five seed from the
- 15:55Speaker 4: SEC or the Big Ten. The five seed to me
- 15:58Speaker 4: is in the penthouse. Whoever you can determine it's going
- 16:01Speaker 4: to be in that spot. That's a national title future
- 16:03Speaker 4: I'm going to make once we know what the playoff is,
- 16:06Speaker 4: all right.
- 16:07Speaker 1: A lot of conversation about Oregon top three in the
- 16:12Speaker 1: country according to the AP, top twenty five, their third,
- 16:15Speaker 1: Ohio state second all of both of them behind Georgia.
- 16:19Speaker 1: So you've got SEC, Big ten, Big Ten, including a
- 16:24Speaker 1: new entry to the Big Ten Oregon. A lot of
- 16:27Speaker 1: people say they could be the best team in the
- 16:29Speaker 1: Big Ten. Meanwhile, Ohio State has basically spent twenty million
- 16:35Speaker 1: dollars to build a super team. Colin, if I'm not mistaken,
- 16:41Speaker 1: I believe you went to media Days for the Big Ten?
- 16:44Speaker 1: Did you not? Am? I am? I not remembering that right?
- 16:48Speaker 1: When you come out of media Days. When you come
- 16:50Speaker 1: out of media Days, are you thinking Ohio State has
- 16:54Speaker 1: spent their money? Well, Oregon is going to be the
- 16:57Speaker 1: team to beat. Give me your prediction, because I think
- 16:59Speaker 1: this is the most interesting conference.
- 17:01Speaker 4: Well, yeah, Oregon and Ohio State are probably going to
- 17:03Speaker 4: be a pick in Eugene when they play each other.
- 17:05Speaker 3: But Oregon is the better team by far.
- 17:07Speaker 4: I think they have a better quarterback because you know,
- 17:09Speaker 4: Bill Howard can't throw it past twenty yards, plus he's
- 17:11Speaker 4: not really durable. Dylan Gabriel is much better quarterback. But
- 17:15Speaker 4: there is a huge separation at the skill positions between
- 17:17Speaker 4: these two teams. Plus, Dan Lanning has been pulling trench
- 17:21Speaker 4: players for years, which Mario Christavall already was up to Eugene,
- 17:25Speaker 4: they can compete at an sec level. Dan Lanning has
- 17:28Speaker 4: taken everything he learned from Kirby Smart to Georgia and
- 17:30Speaker 4: applied it to Oregon. Just get the kids up there
- 17:32Speaker 4: to see how beautiful that that whole area of the
- 17:34Speaker 4: country it is. Kids are sticking around Oregon, I believe
- 17:38Speaker 4: is the more disciplined team, the more talented team, the
- 17:41Speaker 4: better coach team, They're not going to have any locker
- 17:43Speaker 4: room problems. I think Ohio State will. So I'm definitely
- 17:46Speaker 4: quack quack on the Ducks this year.
- 17:48Speaker 1: Stuck.
- 17:50Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm much high on Ohio State. In colin I mean,
- 17:52Speaker 5: the defense is absolutely loaded. That's what I think is
- 17:56Speaker 5: going to carry this team. I mean, just the experience
- 17:58Speaker 5: and talent that they have and led by one of
- 18:01Speaker 5: the better coordinators in all of college football. I think
- 18:05Speaker 5: there is there are some questions act quarterback, but I
- 18:07Speaker 5: think they've upgraded. That's kind of the one major question
- 18:11Speaker 5: mark for me on this team is just like what
- 18:14Speaker 5: is the ceiling of their quarterback position? But to me,
- 18:18Speaker 5: what's interesting is there's three clear cut teams in that
- 18:22Speaker 5: tier one that you mentioned in Georgia, Ohio State, and Oregon.
- 18:26Speaker 5: And I think in this new landscape of college football,
- 18:30Speaker 5: I do think that there's you know, it's it's harder
- 18:33Speaker 5: to build a team that is so much more dominant
- 18:36Speaker 5: than you know, all the other teams, because you're going
- 18:39Speaker 5: to have some guys that lead to go play at
- 18:41Speaker 5: some other Power five schools. But I'm I'm curious to
- 18:45Speaker 5: see who can make that leap and potentially jump up
- 18:49Speaker 5: into that Tier one. A team I have my questions
- 18:54Speaker 5: about in Miami has a ton of talent. They would
- 18:57Speaker 5: be the team from the ACC that has the ceiling.
- 19:00Speaker 5: Penn State James Franklin can't win a big game, but
- 19:02Speaker 5: I can Drew Aller take the next step with a
- 19:04Speaker 5: fantastic offensive coordinator higher and Eddie Cole and Nicky from Kansas,
- 19:09Speaker 5: that offense should look a lot better. You know the
- 19:12Speaker 5: defense is going to be good. So there's that second
- 19:16Speaker 5: tier who's gonna kind of step up? And you know
- 19:19Speaker 5: there's obviously some teams in the SEC that are in
- 19:22Speaker 5: the mix. But you know, to go back to your
- 19:24Speaker 5: original question, Yeah, this is an SEC and Big ten
- 19:28Speaker 5: conversation for the national title.
- 19:31Speaker 2: And I mean, speaking of Penn State, that Week one
- 19:33Speaker 2: West Virginia that feels like it's going to sign a
- 19:35Speaker 2: lot of their season. I mean a little fun fact
- 19:37Speaker 2: with me, I am a dropout of WU, so I
- 19:40Speaker 2: do I do pull for w and this week one matchup.
- 19:43Speaker 2: But speaking of these playoff teams, guys, am I crazy? Like?
- 19:47Speaker 2: Is is Bama really minus one fifteen to make the playoffs?
- 19:49Speaker 2: Of the twelve teams? Are they really not one of
- 19:51Speaker 2: the twelve that are gonna make? I feel like it's
- 19:55Speaker 2: not too much as being put on Nick Stamen leaving.
- 19:56Speaker 2: I don't think enough respects being paid to the coach
- 19:59Speaker 2: that's walking into this team. Like, to me, this is
- 20:01Speaker 2: a man that has exceeded all expectations whole career and
- 20:04Speaker 2: now he's coming from Washington down Alabama. Am I missing
- 20:07Speaker 2: them work here? Stuck? Or is it probably? Are they
- 20:09Speaker 2: properly priced at minus one fifteen to be making the playoffs?
- 20:14Speaker 5: He said he dropped out of WB. Did they even
- 20:16Speaker 5: notice there in Morgantown? If you don't show up the class, we.
- 20:18Speaker 2: Call that graduating. When you drop out of w we
- 20:20Speaker 2: call your graduating.
- 20:23Speaker 5: So yeah, I mean, look, Alabama. Colin has hotter takes
- 20:26Speaker 5: on Alabama than me. I think they're a tad overvalued.
- 20:30Speaker 5: I think they should be like just slightly plus money.
- 20:33Speaker 5: But I love the hire. They didn't lose as much
- 20:36Speaker 5: the portal as I thought they would. They're still going
- 20:39Speaker 5: to be in the mix. But Colin I think as
- 20:40Speaker 5: Hotter takes on Alabama.
- 20:42Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean before I get to Alabama, I just
- 20:44Speaker 4: have to say the State of Arkansas's moonshine is better
- 20:46Speaker 4: than West Virginia's moonshine.
- 20:47Speaker 2: Just you know, sampling that in my life. Where's mentany
- 20:50Speaker 2: you from West Virginia?
- 20:52Speaker 4: It's true Alabama to me, this is a perfect marriage
- 20:56Speaker 4: of a head coach and a quarterback. You have Caitlin
- 20:59Speaker 4: de Borr, who is somewhere around one hundred and ten
- 21:01Speaker 4: and twelve lifetime record wherever he's been. And what you're
- 21:04Speaker 4: doing is you're taking what he does from an offensive perspective.
- 21:08Speaker 4: Runs all of these crazy routes and looks for deep
- 21:10Speaker 4: shots and explosive plays. He's just really good at stretching
- 21:13Speaker 4: the field, spacing it out. And who's his quarterback, Jalen Milroe.
- 21:17Speaker 4: I can't get over these numbers from Jalen Milroe hit
- 21:20Speaker 4: about twenty six big time throws over twenty yards, zero
- 21:24Speaker 4: turnover worthy plays on throws over twenty yards. It is
- 21:27Speaker 4: insane what Jalen Milroe can do from a deep ball perspective.
- 21:30Speaker 4: You just go back and think about that Iron Bowl
- 21:32Speaker 4: game that saved their entire season, got him into the playoff.
- 21:35Speaker 4: So I love Alabama from the perspective. I think that
- 21:37Speaker 4: they can win the SEC. I think they're much better
- 21:39Speaker 4: than a lot of people are predicting. They think that
- 21:41Speaker 4: Saban was out, a couple transfers left. Listen, I think
- 21:44Speaker 4: they're not any worse than what they were last year.
- 21:47Speaker 4: I think Jalen Milro is going to be improved. And
- 21:48Speaker 4: I think kayalend Moore is a great head coach for
- 21:50Speaker 4: his skill set.
- 21:51Speaker 3: So I love Alabama.
- 21:53Speaker 5: Just when I thought Colin couldn't become more of a homer.
- 21:55Speaker 5: Before we come on to the show, he says, so
- 21:57Speaker 5: argus al basketball is winning the national title. One of
- 22:00Speaker 5: his favorite win totals is Arkansas college football. Every year
- 22:03Speaker 5: he says, Arkansas College baseball, it's going to win the
- 22:05Speaker 5: College World Series and they never do. And now he's
- 22:08Speaker 5: trying to claim that Arkansas has the best moonshine in
- 22:11Speaker 5: the United States. Yeah, better than the states in Appalachia.
- 22:17Speaker 5: I mean that the backwoods there where. That's like tennis Tennessee, Virginia, Kentucky,
- 22:23Speaker 5: West Virginia, North Carolina. Come on, now, you're cleaning moonshine
- 22:26Speaker 5: in Arkansas.
- 22:28Speaker 3: Ours is made in the bathtub, not in the mountains.
- 22:29Speaker 1: It's better I listen. One year, I went down to Oxford,
- 22:35Speaker 1: Mississippi for an ole Miss football game, and I stayed
- 22:40Speaker 1: with my buddy Right Thompson, who is a writer for ESPN.
- 22:43Speaker 1: There is nobody more Southern who drips the Southern charm
- 22:50Speaker 1: ethos culture than Right. It is like stepping back in time.
- 22:57Speaker 1: We went to a party with one of Wright's friends.
- 23:00Speaker 1: He does this show on the SEC Network that is
- 23:03Speaker 1: all about food and Southern culture with a guy named
- 23:06Speaker 1: John t Edge. Was John t Edge's house. He had
- 23:10Speaker 1: a coconut moonshine. All I know is I can vaguely
- 23:18Speaker 1: remember waking up the next day in a pile of drool,
- 23:24Speaker 1: with one leg on the floor, one half my body
- 23:28Speaker 1: on the couch, and I think my buddy had co
- 23:32Speaker 1: opted my Twitter feed and was sending dms to people
- 23:37Speaker 1: we went to high school with. That's all I remember.
- 23:41Speaker 1: When we talk about moonshine, and by the way, I
- 23:43Speaker 1: will say it was delicious coconut moonshine.
- 23:48Speaker 5: Try it.
- 23:49Speaker 1: Speaking of Ole Miss, guys, Ole Miss, all of a sudden,
- 23:53Speaker 1: everybody was talking about you watch college game day Lean
- 23:57Speaker 1: and Nick saban is even saying nice things Lane Kiffen
- 24:00Speaker 1: and that they've got a really good team. Is this
- 24:03Speaker 1: the year? I think they're what sixth in the AP
- 24:06Speaker 1: rank right now? Is this the year that Ole Miss
- 24:09Speaker 1: can actually be relevant beyond October? Is Ole Miss a
- 24:13Speaker 1: playoff team? Stuck? I'll start with you.
- 24:16Speaker 5: I yeah, they have the potential to. I mean, what
- 24:20Speaker 5: they're doing in the portal, it's going to increase the variance.
- 24:22Speaker 5: And that's one thing that is going to be difficult
- 24:25Speaker 5: for all betters now even more College football Week one.
- 24:29Speaker 5: There's always a ton of variants, but even more so
- 24:32Speaker 5: now with all of the roster turnover, the coaching turnover,
- 24:35Speaker 5: the transfer portal. Now you have these lower level teams
- 24:37Speaker 5: that are reaching into fcs, gw CO ranks. Like mix
- 24:40Speaker 5: the player evaluation and team evaluation much more difficult to
- 24:44Speaker 5: you know, especially if you're a new better Just always
- 24:47Speaker 5: tread lightly knowing that because the variance is just through
- 24:50Speaker 5: the roof. Oh Mis embodies that. Just the the guys
- 24:54Speaker 5: that they bring in from the portal, they have the
- 24:56Speaker 5: best portal class in country. Sup From a talent perspective,
- 25:00Speaker 5: they're right there. They're building up their trenches too. That's
- 25:02Speaker 5: what's really held them back and kind of kept them
- 25:05Speaker 5: from that upper echelon and the SEC a step behind
- 25:09Speaker 5: the Georgia's and Alabamas. But they're getting closer and they're
- 25:11Speaker 5: closing the gap. But they're much more well coached on
- 25:15Speaker 5: the defensive side of the ball as well. But the
- 25:17Speaker 5: question is how do all these pieces fit together?
- 25:21Speaker 2: Do they gel?
- 25:21Speaker 5: Do they mesh? A couple of years ago when ole
- 25:23Speaker 5: Miss at the portal didn't work as well as last year,
- 25:25Speaker 5: and last year, look, it was a really successful season,
- 25:28Speaker 5: but they did get pretty fortunate in a lot of
- 25:30Speaker 5: close games. But this team high variance team. So I
- 25:33Speaker 5: think instead of betting them to make the college football Playoff,
- 25:37Speaker 5: I would look more on the tails to bet ole
- 25:40Speaker 5: Miss because the potential is there, but there's questions how
- 25:44Speaker 5: does it come together? What does it look like? And
- 25:46Speaker 5: there are many teams in college football that are like that.
- 25:51Speaker 5: Going into this year makes handicapping Week one much more difficult,
- 25:55Speaker 5: increases the variance exponentially, But yes, is definitely a player.
- 26:02Speaker 4: Listen, I've said this a billion times the transfer portal.
- 26:04Speaker 4: Just because you win it doesn't mean you're winning championships.
- 26:07Speaker 4: LSU wanted with Jayden and Daniels a couple of years ago.
- 26:09Speaker 4: They didn't win this as a championship. Caleb Williams and
- 26:12Speaker 4: Lincoln Riley won the portal a couple of years ago
- 26:14Speaker 4: with USC, they didn't make it to the Collegeurble playoff.
- 26:16Speaker 4: It doesn't win championships automatically. Like Old Miss still had
- 26:20Speaker 4: a fifty burger spotted on them by Georgia last year
- 26:22Speaker 4: and lost by thirty five.
- 26:23Speaker 3: That is a massive gap.
- 26:24Speaker 4: And when you go and look in that game, it
- 26:26Speaker 4: was their star right tackle that was injured and Olemiss
- 26:29Speaker 4: just could not pull outside zone. They couldn't get any
- 26:31Speaker 4: protection for Jackson Dart. I do like ole Miss in general.
- 26:34Speaker 4: Jackson Dart had major spikes in his efficiency in his
- 26:38Speaker 4: passing last year, especially in mid range. So I do
- 26:41Speaker 4: like them as a team. But at the same time,
- 26:43Speaker 4: Stuck is right like you have to build trench dep
- 26:46Speaker 4: you have to have the best players, and I'm just
- 26:48Speaker 4: not sure they are there to rattle off three or
- 26:51Speaker 4: four wins in a row because what Ole Miss is
- 26:52Speaker 4: right now with all these wins in the portal, they're
- 26:54Speaker 4: essentially an Olympic basketball team full of NBA stars that
- 26:58Speaker 4: don't play together during the season.
- 26:59Speaker 3: That's exactly what all miss is.
- 27:01Speaker 1: All right, So you just mentioned Florida State. Of course
- 27:04Speaker 1: they go out. They lose in the last second week
- 27:07Speaker 1: one to Georgia Tech. Florida State since last year has
- 27:12Speaker 1: become one of those programs that is just so polarizing
- 27:16Speaker 1: because of what happened with the BCS or the College
- 27:20Speaker 1: Football Playoff and not making the Final Four and all
- 27:22Speaker 1: that kind of stuff. Colin, Now that they've lost, do
- 27:28Speaker 1: you feel like they are worthy of the hate and
- 27:31Speaker 1: ridicule that they get.
- 27:35Speaker 4: They deserve it, but they can correct it. They missed
- 27:37Speaker 4: eleven tackles in that game. You don't want double digit
- 27:40Speaker 4: missed tackles in a game. I know it was wet,
- 27:41Speaker 4: but Georgia Tech didn't have those problems missing tackles. I
- 27:44Speaker 4: think you know, the secondary took really bad angles. They
- 27:47Speaker 4: were not a bad tackling unit last year.
- 27:49Speaker 3: They just got whooped.
- 27:51Speaker 4: And the handicap on the game was that Florida State
- 27:54Speaker 4: is so much more experienced and talented in the trench,
- 27:56Speaker 4: especially on the offensive line. They should just bulldoze over
- 27:59Speaker 4: Georgia Tech. Drive seven plays seventy five yards. It looked
- 28:03Speaker 4: exactly like that, and then I don't know what happened.
- 28:05Speaker 4: I don't know who pulled the plug on the electricity.
- 28:07Speaker 4: Because Florida State never rebounded after that first drive. They
- 28:10Speaker 4: got whooped at the point of attack. I think that
- 28:12Speaker 4: goes to your head. Coach brit Key for Georgia Tech
- 28:14Speaker 4: is a former offensive lineman. He's just gritty grinding Florida State. Sorry,
- 28:20Speaker 4: you're soft. And you know, if you actually, if you
- 28:23Speaker 4: behave like this with misstackles and you can't, you know,
- 28:25Speaker 4: you take bad angles in the secondary, you're gonna get
- 28:27Speaker 4: beat two or three more times.
- 28:28Speaker 3: So they deserve to hate.
- 28:29Speaker 4: But they have do they do have issues that can
- 28:32Speaker 4: be corrected, not a quarterback correct.
- 28:36Speaker 2: Yeah, that's a classic case of week week zero. Right,
- 28:40Speaker 2: Like this team just flew twelve hours from Florida to
- 28:43Speaker 2: Ireland and they didn't get off the plane. It felt
- 28:46Speaker 2: like what you guys just said that first drive and
- 28:48Speaker 2: they kind of fell apart. Now because of their falling
- 28:51Speaker 2: apart here, what do you think stuck? Is this Clemson's
- 28:54Speaker 2: time to shine here? This is I hate Clemson. I
- 28:57Speaker 2: hate their head coach, I hate everything about them. Is
- 28:59Speaker 2: this now their time to run this division again where
- 29:02Speaker 2: it's like, Okay, you know, the people think that Clemson's
- 29:06Speaker 2: kind of messed up here because its not really embracing
- 29:08Speaker 2: the whole transfer portal. Are they still the team to
- 29:10Speaker 2: beat her? Are they kind of left for dead here?
- 29:13Speaker 5: Yeah? I think this is like a make or break
- 29:16Speaker 5: here for Dabo, and I think it might start to
- 29:18Speaker 5: get more difficult for Clemson to keep up. But they
- 29:21Speaker 5: still have a really talented team. It's year two of
- 29:23Speaker 5: their coordinator, like the post type of Garrett Riley who
- 29:25Speaker 5: came over from TCU, year two of Kate Klubnick got
- 29:28Speaker 5: a really good offensive line coach that they brought in.
- 29:31Speaker 5: I think the offensive line will be better. Centers still
- 29:33Speaker 5: a big question mark. The defense, you know, is always
- 29:35Speaker 5: gonna be good. It's developed well. They played more freshman
- 29:38Speaker 5: than any team in the country last year. I bet
- 29:41Speaker 5: Clemson to win the ACC. I got them to go
- 29:43Speaker 5: to the College Ball Playoff. They're definitely falling a step behind.
- 29:46Speaker 5: I don't think they have like national title ceiling right,
- 29:48Speaker 5: but I do like them to win the ACC. They
- 29:50Speaker 5: are now favorites to win the ACC after what Florida
- 29:54Speaker 5: State did last week. Florida State. They just don't have
- 29:55Speaker 5: to say, don't have the ceiling because their quarterback play
- 29:57Speaker 5: and the wide receiver plays underwhelming too. If you can
- 29:59Speaker 5: stop the on force DJU to throw it, especially in
- 30:02Speaker 5: known passing downs. I don't think they have the solutions there,
- 30:06Speaker 5: and they couldn't. Even their strength is supposed to be
- 30:09Speaker 5: the run game.
- 30:09Speaker 2: The off it's fine.
- 30:09Speaker 5: They couldn't do that against Georgia Tech. Well, that's extremely problematic.
- 30:14Speaker 5: And then this overhyped defensive line was not great. The
- 30:17Speaker 5: linebackers were bad. So yeah, I think Florida State might
- 30:20Speaker 5: be in trouble, although I might buy them if this
- 30:22Speaker 5: line keeps going down against Boston College in Week one.
- 30:24Speaker 5: But yeah, I do think Clempson's gonna win the ACC
- 30:26Speaker 5: this year. I think it's a buy on them. A
- 30:30Speaker 5: cell on Florida State was part of that as well,
- 30:32Speaker 5: which we saw last Monday. Value has kind of been
- 30:35Speaker 5: sucked out of the number. But I do think Clemson
- 30:38Speaker 5: is eventually going to come out on top in the ACC.
- 30:42Speaker 5: But you look at what I think you mentioned all
- 30:43Speaker 5: missing the transfer portal, and Colin alluded to this point.
- 30:46Speaker 5: I think the ideal national title contender in the upper
- 30:49Speaker 5: elite echelon. You know what you're seeing with teams like Georgia,
- 30:55Speaker 5: like Oregon, like Ohio State, et cetera, is you have
- 30:59Speaker 5: really good recording classes, you have really good player development, right,
- 31:02Speaker 5: and then you supplement where your holes are after NFL graduation,
- 31:08Speaker 5: especially if you had like one position with the transfer portal, Right,
- 31:11Speaker 5: that's kind of the ideal formula to reach that elite tier.
- 31:15Speaker 5: Ole Miss is going the extreme transfer portal. We're out Clemson.
- 31:20Speaker 5: Where I think that there's just a major deficiency right
- 31:23Speaker 5: now is they're not addressing those team needs, like go
- 31:27Speaker 5: out and get a center, go out and get a
- 31:30Speaker 5: proven wide receiver, commodity, maybe add some help in the secondary.
- 31:34Speaker 5: In the portal, three or four guys that were starters, right,
- 31:37Speaker 5: and then all of a sudden your roster becomes elevated.
- 31:40Speaker 5: It was only Clemson and the service academies which can't
- 31:44Speaker 5: that didn't have an addition from the transfer portal. So
- 31:47Speaker 5: I do like Clemson in the ACC, but I don't
- 31:50Speaker 5: think that they have that ceiling to win a national title.
- 31:54Speaker 5: And part of that is they're not taking advantage of
- 31:57Speaker 5: the portal to fill some of those roster whole depth
- 32:01Speaker 5: and just elevating the overall talent profile of their team.
- 32:05Speaker 1: You mentioned Florida's Day, you mentioned BC Week one, huge slate.
- 32:10Speaker 1: It's the only weekend of the year. It feels like,
- 32:13Speaker 1: including the playoffs, where college football is going to get
- 32:16Speaker 1: every football fans attention because they are going Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday,
- 32:29Speaker 1: all day, every day, five days. We got college football
- 32:36Speaker 1: Thursday Friday. Colin, give me your picks.
- 32:40Speaker 4: We're going to take you and C on the money
- 32:41Speaker 4: line over Minnesota. There's some injury information starting to leak
- 32:44Speaker 4: out with Minnesota. Specifically, they're running back Darius Taylor might
- 32:47Speaker 4: not be available. What is Minnesota's offense running the ball
- 32:50Speaker 4: like seventy percent of the time like a service academy.
- 32:53Speaker 3: So you know what that's going to do.
- 32:54Speaker 4: Their injuries are going to put their new quarterback at
- 32:56Speaker 4: New Hampshire's Max Brosmer under the spotlight to try and
- 32:59Speaker 4: do everything. If you go and break down his numbers
- 33:02Speaker 4: at New Hampshire, yes, I did only ten four years
- 33:06Speaker 4: at New Hampshire. Only ten percent of his passes go
- 33:08Speaker 4: beyond twenty yards. He is a dink and dunk quarterback
- 33:11Speaker 4: and a Minnesota offense that has no explosiveness whatsoever with
- 33:15Speaker 4: a brand new defensive coordinator. Now on the other side
- 33:17Speaker 4: of the ball, you got O Maria and Hampton. You guys, Simon, Chad,
- 33:20Speaker 4: you guys.
- 33:21Speaker 3: Will be talking about him in the NFL often. He
- 33:23Speaker 3: is that good. So I love North Carolina Opening Night
- 33:26Speaker 3: Thursday Night again.
- 33:27Speaker 1: Listen to Colin and Stuck in the BBOC pods, watch
- 33:32Speaker 1: him on the BBOC YouTube channel. Listen to them and
- 33:35Speaker 1: watch them on the BBOC Live show on Saturday mornings
- 33:38Speaker 1: when they preview and make picks for all the games.
- 33:42Speaker 1: Surprise no one that Colin has broken down the film
- 33:46Speaker 1: on Minnesota's transfer quarterback from UNH. This is a guy
- 33:50Speaker 1: who This past Saturday, our second most read story on
- 33:55Speaker 1: actionnetwork dot com was his write up of Montana ste
- 34:00Speaker 1: and it's historic spread against New Mexico, a game that
- 34:04Speaker 1: Montana State ultimately won. Colin goes deep, deep, deep into
- 34:10Speaker 1: the well on college football, Stuck, do you have a favorite?
- 34:14Speaker 1: I'm just talking Thursday Friday. Simon's going to ask you
- 34:17Speaker 1: about Saturday. I just want Thursday Friday.
- 34:20Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 34:21Speaker 5: I iolate it with Michigan State neat under two touchdowns,
- 34:24Speaker 5: but I very low on this FAU team, who I
- 34:29Speaker 5: think wants to go faster, which is good if you
- 34:31Speaker 5: want to better favorite more possessions. But they're starting quarterback
- 34:34Speaker 5: Cam Fancher, not a fan of. Don't think he can
- 34:37Speaker 5: take advantage of Michigan State secondary, which is really where
- 34:41Speaker 5: the biggest questions are on that roster. You know, Michigan
- 34:45Speaker 5: State new head coach Jonathan Smith, I'm a huge fan of,
- 34:48Speaker 5: comes in from Oregon State, brings with him his very
- 34:52Speaker 5: talented quarterback eight and Chiles his center, his tight end,
- 34:56Speaker 5: his offensive coordinator's offensive line. Coach still questions a that
- 35:00Speaker 5: offensive line, but I do think that Michigan State will
- 35:04Speaker 5: be able to run it on FAU. And look, there's
- 35:06Speaker 5: been a lot of negativity around this Michigan State program.
- 35:11Speaker 5: Their fans are starving for just like some optimism. So
- 35:15Speaker 5: I think that home opener against FAU, they want to
- 35:18Speaker 5: put up a number here and I'm just not buying
- 35:22Speaker 5: what FAU is selling this year. That a lot of
- 35:24Speaker 5: rosters turn over, a lot of questions, and I just
- 35:26Speaker 5: don't trust the quarterback to really take advantage of Michigan State.
- 35:32Speaker 5: Don't really love the Thursday and Friday slate. Other than
- 35:35Speaker 5: that looking at that UNC Minnesota game, waiting on some
- 35:37Speaker 5: injury info. The total ticked up today, might potentially look
- 35:41Speaker 5: at the under there over fifty one. Minnesota is really slow.
- 35:46Speaker 5: They did upgrade a quarterback, I think with Brossner, but
- 35:48Speaker 5: he's making the jump from SCS to FBS. There were
- 35:50Speaker 5: a lot of short passes in FCS. Was successful doing so,
- 35:54Speaker 5: but they just wants to run the ball. Belieave the
- 35:56Speaker 5: clock and UNC you're going to use two quarterbacks. Lactually
- 36:00Speaker 5: these two teams played thirty one to fourteen. I think
- 36:02Speaker 5: didn't go over this number. Number was about the same.
- 36:04Speaker 5: They Drake May who threw for four hundred yards and
- 36:07Speaker 5: took advantage of that Minnesota secondary. I'm not sure the
- 36:10Speaker 5: UNC two QB system in a rebuilt offensive line can
- 36:14Speaker 5: take advantage of the Minnesota secondary. I kind of like
- 36:18Speaker 5: their front to shut down Hampton they're running back. So
- 36:22Speaker 5: a lot of unservedy in this game was so much new.
- 36:26Speaker 5: You know, there's injury questions, no depth charts, and so
- 36:30Speaker 5: it's it's an interesting game. But one thing to keep
- 36:33Speaker 5: in mind is we saw the pace go down last
- 36:38Speaker 5: week for certain teams using the helmet communications, so that's
- 36:42Speaker 5: something to keep in mind plays just taking longer as
- 36:45Speaker 5: quarterbacks adjust. You saw this lot of Haines King and
- 36:48Speaker 5: Georgia Tech. You might see that more frequently, especially early
- 36:53Speaker 5: on in the season. Both teams also have new defensive coordinators.
- 36:56Speaker 5: I think unc upgraded in that department with Jeff Collins.
- 36:59Speaker 5: Both Tuns try to simplify what they do, which I
- 37:01Speaker 5: think could limit explosives, which are issues for both these
- 37:04Speaker 5: last year. So looking at the under there and in
- 37:06Speaker 5: North dakot to State Colorado is a really interesting game.
- 37:09Speaker 5: North Dakota State has some injuries that I'm monitoring, but
- 37:11Speaker 5: there's a lot of uncertainty the week one new rosters, injuries,
- 37:16Speaker 5: potential suspensions, new staffs. It's what makes I just can't
- 37:19Speaker 5: wait to see these games, dive into what I saw
- 37:23Speaker 5: and start the journey of the twenty twenty four college
- 37:26Speaker 5: football betting season.
- 37:27Speaker 1: Listen, if Colorado loses, I'm here in rumors that Dion
- 37:31Speaker 1: is going to be so upset and offended he's going
- 37:34Speaker 1: to ban anybody from the state of North Dakota from
- 37:38Speaker 1: entering the state of Colorado. That's how much power he has,
- 37:42Speaker 1: and that's how sensitive Dean Sanders apparently is Simon.
- 37:47Speaker 2: Yeah, I can't wait for Dian to be coaching the
- 37:49Speaker 2: Cowboys next year. Chad, no joke, So I mean, I'm
- 37:53Speaker 2: just kidding you talk about it's gonna be fired up stuck.
- 37:55Speaker 2: So we'll go to Colin here for Saturday. Who we betting?
- 37:58Speaker 2: Obviously going West Virginia money line against benn State. I
- 38:03Speaker 2: think they're up to what eight and a half as
- 38:05Speaker 2: a dog. I mean in Morgantown you can still get
- 38:09Speaker 2: two rum and cokes for four dollars. I mean it's
- 38:11Speaker 2: crazy right now there the Morgantown and making us an
- 38:14Speaker 2: eight and a half dog? Who are we going with
- 38:17Speaker 2: on Saturday? Con Like, who's jumping out to you? Obviously
- 38:19Speaker 2: the dogs ruled Week zero? Do we see that same
- 38:22Speaker 2: trend continue here in Week one? Well, in the award.
- 38:25Speaker 4: Winning Action Network app, you can follow me and see that.
- 38:28Speaker 4: An hour ago, I played a nice, nice fat bet
- 38:31Speaker 4: on Clemson plus seven and a half in the first
- 38:34Speaker 4: half against Georgia. And there's a lot of suspensions here
- 38:37Speaker 4: coming for Georgia. There's been some DUIs, there's been some
- 38:39Speaker 4: reckless driving, there's some charges going on on both sides
- 38:42Speaker 4: of the ball with a linebacker more importantly, they're running
- 38:44Speaker 4: back Trevor et And who comes in from Florida. And
- 38:47Speaker 4: then in that running back depth start for Georgia, they're
- 38:49Speaker 4: also missing one of their best running backs and Rob Robinson,
- 38:53Speaker 4: so he's got a toe injury that he had to
- 38:54Speaker 4: have certain surgery on. So for Georgia, this is going
- 38:56Speaker 4: to turn into a complete one dimensional passing attack, which
- 38:59Speaker 4: everything bad about Georgia. It's like they have the best
- 39:01Speaker 4: recruits in the nation, like they're gonna be able to backfill,
- 39:04Speaker 4: but the depth is a concern there. The depth on
- 39:06Speaker 4: the defensive line is actually a concern too. They took
- 39:08Speaker 4: mckel Williams, with their best player on defense, and pushed
- 39:10Speaker 4: him out to outside linebacker. They're having injury situations on
- 39:13Speaker 4: the defensive tackle in the interior that Clemson can absolutely
- 39:17Speaker 4: mul them with. With Phil Maffa and that offensive line,
- 39:20Speaker 4: they have been unbelievable. And I'll say this about kid
- 39:22Speaker 4: club Nick because he costs Stucky and.
- 39:24Speaker 3: I a lot of money over the years.
- 39:26Speaker 4: But last year, after Week eight against Miami, something flipped
- 39:30Speaker 4: in Garrett Riley's offense. He had seventeen turnover worth he
- 39:33Speaker 4: plays last year, only four of them in the last
- 39:35Speaker 4: five weeks. He I mean, they just absolutely manhandled everybody club.
- 39:39Speaker 4: Nick was a different quarterback the last five games of
- 39:42Speaker 4: last year. I think he's grass Riley's offense. To me,
- 39:46Speaker 4: Georgia has too many questions coming into this game. Suspensions
- 39:48Speaker 4: are coming, which will move the line. I'm acting now
- 39:50Speaker 4: and taking Clemson plus seven and a half because they
- 39:52Speaker 4: feel completely disrespected and they shouldn't be with the talent
- 39:55Speaker 4: they have. I agree with Stuck on the depth problem
- 39:57Speaker 4: that will show up in the playoff later in the year,
- 39:59Speaker 4: but not in game one.
- 40:01Speaker 2: What do you think Stuck for Saturday.
- 40:03Speaker 5: I've been saying all summer. I love A and M
- 40:05Speaker 5: against Notre Dame. It's out to three now not as
- 40:09Speaker 5: much value, but I would still I don't wait. There
- 40:12Speaker 5: might be some buyback on Notre Dame, but Notre Dame's
- 40:14Speaker 5: offensive line situation is dire. I really love the upgrade
- 40:17Speaker 5: at coaching for Texas A and M. Bringing in Mike
- 40:20Speaker 5: Yalco for Jimbo Fisher couldna be a much more serious team.
- 40:23Speaker 5: His team still has a ton of talent, They've had
- 40:25Speaker 5: a ton of talent over the past couple of years,
- 40:27Speaker 5: but the coaching I think really held them back. Really
- 40:29Speaker 5: fascinating matchup in this game is Notre Dame's quarterback Riley
- 40:34Speaker 5: Leonard taking on Mike Yalco. They were at Duke last year.
- 40:38Speaker 5: A lot of talk about who does that give the
- 40:41Speaker 5: edge to the quarterback or the coach that knew him?
- 40:44Speaker 5: Helco and his presser obviously he said this, but he
- 40:46Speaker 5: said it's actually Leonard because he's used to seeing his defenses,
- 40:49Speaker 5: but he also knows his strengths and weaknesses. But Notre Dame,
- 40:52Speaker 5: you know, losing two tackles to the NFL. They've lost
- 40:55Speaker 5: their projected starting left tackle to an injury. It's going
- 40:58Speaker 5: to be starting all underclassmen on that offensive line. That's
- 41:03Speaker 5: a problem, especially in college station and against the defensive
- 41:06Speaker 5: line that had a lot of turner. If they still
- 41:07Speaker 5: have all dudes who could play on Sunday up there.
- 41:10Speaker 5: So yeah, I like A and M way off the radar.
- 41:13Speaker 5: I'll do this for our producer Matt Mitchell, since I
- 41:17Speaker 5: correct them earlier. Eat them up cats if you want
- 41:19Speaker 5: to go way off. If you want to go way
- 41:21Speaker 5: off the radar and bet a group of five game
- 41:27Speaker 5: Sam Houston State plus catching double digits against Rice. I
- 41:32Speaker 5: think Rice is really going to miss McCaffrey. They're not
- 41:35Speaker 5: a team that I liked to back as a bigger
- 41:37Speaker 5: favorite with the way that they play. Sam Houston State
- 41:40Speaker 5: upgraded at quarterback, and it was a team that transitioned
- 41:44Speaker 5: to FBS last year, really struggled early, started to figure
- 41:47Speaker 5: it out come on late. They're very well coached. I
- 41:50Speaker 5: like them catching double digits against Rice in a All
- 41:55Speaker 5: Texas matchup. So puttle off the radar there.
- 42:00Speaker 1: Eat them up. Cats. Ooh, can work categories. I want
- 42:04Speaker 1: to cover first Heisman. We mentioned Jackson Dart, who has
- 42:11Speaker 1: the most Damon runyonesque name in all of college football,
- 42:15Speaker 1: absolutely perfect at Ole Miss. When you guys survey the field,
- 42:19Speaker 1: where is the Heisman value? Colin your first I'm.
- 42:22Speaker 3: Gonna go Miller Moss at USC.
- 42:24Speaker 2: Listen.
- 42:25Speaker 4: I think if there's one team that's sitting around the
- 42:26Speaker 4: six and a half seven win range that can absolutely
- 42:29Speaker 4: go over that and they're ceilings around nine or ten wins,
- 42:31Speaker 4: it's going to be USC. I love, and I know
- 42:33Speaker 4: we're talking Heisman, but follow me here. The higher of
- 42:36Speaker 4: Danton Lynn as their defensive coordinator is going to get
- 42:39Speaker 4: a lot more stops. It's going to make a lot
- 42:41Speaker 4: better USC defense, which is going to give more possessions
- 42:43Speaker 4: to the offense. Miller Moss was perfect in the Holiday
- 42:46Speaker 4: Bowl three hundred and seventy two yards six touchdowns against
- 42:49Speaker 4: a good Louisville defense, and now he's got Maybe the
- 42:52Speaker 4: most explosive explosive receiver in college football was zachar Uriah
- 42:55Speaker 4: Branch in a Lincoln Riley offense. If USC can get
- 42:58Speaker 4: to nine wins, which I think is possible, he's in
- 43:01Speaker 4: the conversation. He's forty fifty to one out there, so
- 43:03Speaker 4: that I wanted to go long shot, not something short,
- 43:05Speaker 4: so that that.
- 43:05Speaker 2: Would be my pick.
- 43:06Speaker 1: Stuck well.
- 43:08Speaker 5: As one of the seven thousand esteemed Heisman voters, I
- 43:12Speaker 5: do not bet on the Heisman. Not a market that
- 43:14Speaker 5: I spent a lot of time on. I don't think
- 43:16Speaker 5: there's a ton of value. Was a market that I
- 43:18Speaker 5: think you used to have more value in the past.
- 43:20Speaker 5: If you wanted a long shot to look at maybe
- 43:23Speaker 5: a guy I mentioned earlier, Drew Aller, and you're betting
- 43:25Speaker 5: on Cotal Nikki just you know, taking that offense to
- 43:28Speaker 5: the next level and al or taking that next step.
- 43:30Speaker 5: Guy who has all the talent can make all the throws. Now,
- 43:33Speaker 5: he's just going to have an offense that has made
- 43:35Speaker 5: so easy for him, and it's a team with upside
- 43:37Speaker 5: that should get to the college football Playoff. So you know,
- 43:41Speaker 5: if you're looking in the long shot tear, I think
- 43:44Speaker 5: he's fifty to one ish if you wanted to throw
- 43:46Speaker 5: some couch change on it, but not a market.
- 43:47Speaker 1: I really spend time on Drew Raller, Penn State quarterback.
- 43:50Speaker 2: By the way, all right, stuck, So you got a
- 43:52Speaker 2: favorite future for us? Then for the whole college football season,
- 43:55Speaker 2: like what you one that really jumps out through that
- 43:57Speaker 2: really haven't a given out or you know our fans
- 43:59Speaker 2: could up on. At this point, I'm going to.
- 44:01Speaker 5: Be selfish and I'm going to promote my Mac manifesto,
- 44:06Speaker 5: which I have time on every year.
- 44:08Speaker 2: How beautiful is maction? How beautiful is maction? Oh man,
- 44:12Speaker 2: just when we thought we had peak maction.
- 44:15Speaker 5: So go check that out, Bowling Green. I go through
- 44:18Speaker 5: every team. All the depth charts came out today. I
- 44:20Speaker 5: go through again and update all of the notes on offense, defense,
- 44:23Speaker 5: special teams based on the depth charts. Spend a lot
- 44:27Speaker 5: of time on. It's a really good resource just to
- 44:29Speaker 5: update yourself on the MAC. I'll do it again in
- 44:31Speaker 5: the mid season before midweek maction returns. But I like
- 44:35Speaker 5: bowling green to win the MAC, and I go really
- 44:41Speaker 5: in depth in the manifesto, so I'll tease that check
- 44:43Speaker 5: it out.
- 44:44Speaker 1: Well, you guys got to forgive me.
- 44:46Speaker 3: You see, bawling for money. It's my only vice.
- 44:50Speaker 1: Colan.
- 44:51Speaker 3: Yeah, I want to percent agree with that.
- 44:52Speaker 2: I love that pick.
- 44:53Speaker 4: I'm gonna go with a win total. I'm gonna go
- 44:54Speaker 4: off the beaten path here. Because we talked about so
- 44:57Speaker 4: much of this on our last BBOC podcast, but I
- 44:59Speaker 4: did not mention San Diego State under five and a half.
- 45:02Speaker 4: If you guys remember a little mac football on Tuesday nights,
- 45:05Speaker 4: Kent State used to be called flash Fast. Well that coach,
- 45:08Speaker 4: Sewn Lewis went to Colorado last year, was demoted mid
- 45:10Speaker 4: season from his offensive coordinator position. Now he's kind of
- 45:14Speaker 4: found his way at San Diego State. He has the
- 45:16Speaker 4: worst experience numbers on both sides of the ball. But
- 45:20Speaker 4: I talked to Sean Lewis at media day at Mountain
- 45:22Speaker 4: West Media Day in Las Vegas.
- 45:23Speaker 3: Any ding day, Yeah, we catch your tickets. He told
- 45:27Speaker 3: me it doesn't.
- 45:28Speaker 4: Matter who the players are. It doesn't matter what their
- 45:30Speaker 4: style is, it doesn't matter where they come from. We're
- 45:32Speaker 4: running as tech fast. We're going to go as fast
- 45:34Speaker 4: as possible on offense. We're just going to try to
- 45:37Speaker 4: contain explosives on defense. But more importantly, this schedule is
- 45:41Speaker 4: brutal for them because they are really at five and
- 45:44Speaker 4: a half. I project them to be double digit underdogs
- 45:47Speaker 4: in six games, meaning they have to win the rest
- 45:49Speaker 4: of the schedule, and I only have them favorites in
- 45:51Speaker 4: two other games Central Michigan and Texas A and m Commerce.
- 45:55Speaker 4: So San Diego State under five and a half absolutely
- 45:58Speaker 4: the future, but from a weekly person effected, Yes, you're
- 46:01Speaker 4: going to see astec overs in the app every genre,
- 46:03Speaker 4: and I'm going to get trolled by Stucky every week
- 46:05Speaker 4: and I love it.
- 46:06Speaker 1: Aztec Fast, I feel the need need first feed. Listen

- 46:44Speaker 1: was the longest of long shots. But yet here we are.
