- 0:00Speaker 1: Now the Mark Simone Show on seven ten Woor filling
- 0:05Speaker 1: in for Mark. Here's Ken Rosatto.
- 0:08Speaker 2: And nice to be with you on Memorial Day. Mark
- 0:10Speaker 2: off today hopefully enjoying his day, spending time with family
- 0:14Speaker 2: and friends, enjoying the freedoms that somebody fought and died for.
- 0:17Speaker 2: We hope the same two that you are enjoying time
- 0:20Speaker 2: with your family and friends. But remember that this is
- 0:23Speaker 2: why our vets who lost their lives defending our country
- 0:26Speaker 2: did so so that we don't have to worry about
- 0:28Speaker 2: being attacked, that we could enjoy our time with family
- 0:31Speaker 2: and friends. But that doesn't mean we should forget them.
- 0:34Speaker 2: Always take a moment, especially on a day like this,
- 0:37Speaker 2: to lift a toast, or to say thank you, or
- 0:40Speaker 2: say a prayer, or just a moment of silence anything.
- 0:44Speaker 2: Put out a flag today, or approach a vet, do
- 0:48Speaker 2: something to show your gratitude toward or for those people
- 0:52Speaker 2: who fought and died for us, or who died in training,
- 0:55Speaker 2: or who died after they got back from war because
- 0:58Speaker 2: of exposure to a chemical or something something. These people
- 1:01Speaker 2: really gave it all. I mean we say gave it
- 1:04Speaker 2: all for a lot of things. They truly gave it all,
- 1:06Speaker 2: and we thank all those people who sacrificed the ultimate
- 1:10Speaker 2: sacrifice so that we can enjoy our country. Seven ten
- 1:13Speaker 2: War the voice of New York. This is Ken Rosatto.
- 1:15Speaker 2: Thank you Mark Simon for letting me sit here today,

- 1:22Speaker 2: microphone enjoy it these days? Have those who don't remember,
- 1:26Speaker 2: I used to be on Channel seven for twenty years.
- 1:28Speaker 2: I was the morning anchor, and many of those years
- 1:31Speaker 2: I was also the new anchor at Channel seven, and
- 1:34Speaker 2: then I was also a Channel five. I anchored Good
- 1:36Speaker 2: Day New York for a while before then. These days
- 1:39Speaker 2: am on on New Jersey, which is a New Jersey
- 1:41Speaker 2: news channel statewide, and you could get catch it anywhere
- 1:44Speaker 2: online ONNJ dot com. You don't just have to be
- 1:47Speaker 2: in New Jersey. Hopefully if you get a moment, you
- 1:50Speaker 2: give us a try, take a look at us ONNJ
- 1:53Speaker 2: dot com. And I'm there every day. So it's always
- 1:55Speaker 2: nice to come over back over the Hudson River though
- 1:58Speaker 2: into Manhattan to hosts the Marx Simone Show for the
- 2:01Speaker 2: Great Mark Simone at seven ten woor Anyway, we want
- 2:06Speaker 2: to pass on that. We will take your calls at
- 2:08Speaker 2: eight hundred three to two one zero seven ten, eight
- 2:11Speaker 2: hundred three to two to one zero seven ten. For
- 2:14Speaker 2: those who are thinking about a summer vacation and you
- 2:17Speaker 2: were thinking about jet setting off to Europe, well you
- 2:21Speaker 2: might want to keep those fingers crossed because of what
- 2:23Speaker 2: is going on in terms of fuel right now around
- 2:26Speaker 2: the world. Yes, we have tons of fuel here in
- 2:29Speaker 2: the United States. We're producing more than enough. In fact,
- 2:32Speaker 2: we are a net exporter of oil and fuel because
- 2:37Speaker 2: President Trump has taken off the the what's the word
- 2:41Speaker 2: I'm looking for, He's basically gotten rid of a lot
- 2:44Speaker 2: of the environmental restrictions. If you will that, yes, thank you,
- 2:50Speaker 2: crash Our ear said, you mean take the gloves off.
- 2:52Speaker 2: Can Yes, thank you crash crash at is coffee. I didn't.
- 2:56Speaker 2: And so as a result, we have an abundance of fuel,
- 2:59Speaker 2: which is kept oil prices in check here. But I
- 3:02Speaker 2: know because of what's going out of the Strait of
- 3:04Speaker 2: Horn moves with Iran, prices have come up, but they've
- 3:07Speaker 2: come up a lot more. I don't mean to juggle
- 3:09Speaker 2: like we have nothing. We're paying nothing compared to what
- 3:11Speaker 2: that paying in Europe right now because the cost of
- 3:13Speaker 2: oil there is so high. Remember Russia, China, and much
- 3:16Speaker 2: of Europe gets a lot of its oil from the
- 3:20Speaker 2: area that is the straight of horror moves. And right
- 3:23Speaker 2: now fuel prices are very high. Well for jets, they
- 3:26Speaker 2: require that jet fuel, and right now there is a
- 3:30Speaker 2: major shortage in Europe of jet fuel. So you can
- 3:34Speaker 2: get jet fuel here, tons of it. We have an
- 3:36Speaker 2: ample supply. Problem is once the jet flies to Europe,
- 3:39Speaker 2: it has to fly back right so it doesn't have
- 3:43Speaker 2: an available supply. So there are many airlines, many of
- 3:46Speaker 2: the biggies have canceled flights coming from Europe back to
- 3:51Speaker 2: the United States. So if you are looking to fly
- 3:54Speaker 2: around trip, might be able to get there and can't
- 3:55Speaker 2: get back. If you're looking to fly around trip, just
- 3:58Speaker 2: check with your carrier. They started in the past week
- 4:01Speaker 2: or so canceling a lot of European flights or not
- 4:05Speaker 2: flying to certain destinations. You might win tozz check ahead,
- 4:08Speaker 2: or have a contingency plan, or hopefully you have flight
- 4:12Speaker 2: insurance or travel insurance and you make sure that you're
- 4:14Speaker 2: backed up. Although now I'm reading that many of the
- 4:18Speaker 2: travel insurance companies do not account for something that is
- 4:22Speaker 2: out of their control, like a shortage of jet fuel,
- 4:25Speaker 2: so they may or may not cover you for that.
- 4:27Speaker 2: So even then, if you're going to buy flight insurance
- 4:30Speaker 2: or travel insurance, make sure that something like a flight
- 4:33Speaker 2: being canceled due to jet fuel shortages that is covered.
- 4:37Speaker 2: But we hope you enjoy your summer one way or
- 4:39Speaker 2: the other. Remember there are plenty of good places right
- 4:41Speaker 2: here in the US. Think back five years during the pandemic.
- 4:46Speaker 2: I remember we were supposed to fly to Portugal and
- 4:50Speaker 2: we couldn't because we would have been quarantined in Portugal
- 4:55Speaker 2: for two weeks. And that was my vacation time was
- 4:58Speaker 2: two weeks. So what would the point of bit You
- 4:59Speaker 2: fly for two weeks in quarantine, you come back. So
- 5:02Speaker 2: we decided to do a bunch of regional trips and
- 5:05Speaker 2: I'm glad we did. We went to Newport, Rhode Island.
- 5:08Speaker 2: I have never been. It was phenomenal, just a beautiful
- 5:11Speaker 2: place to go to, and it's driving distance. You can
- 5:14Speaker 2: go to so many places in Pennsylvania that are just gorgeous.
- 5:17Speaker 2: The Lakes, go upstate New York. There are beautiful places
- 5:21Speaker 2: go to, like George is If you've never been, it's gorgeous.
- 5:25Speaker 2: Go out to Montauk. There are some wonderful places all
- 5:29Speaker 2: within driving distance of here. Go down the Jersey Shore,
- 5:33Speaker 2: go to the mountains, the mountains northwestern New Jersey. You think, well,
- 5:37Speaker 2: that's great for the winter, ken it's wonderful. In the summer,
- 5:41Speaker 2: it's terrific. There are amusement parks there and everything. So
- 5:44Speaker 2: there are plenty of places you could drive to within
- 5:46Speaker 2: a couple of hours and have a wonderful time. In
- 5:49Speaker 2: the event that your jet to Europe, your flight to
- 5:52Speaker 2: Europe is canceled because of fuel situations. Right now presenting themselves,
- 5:57Speaker 2: the fingers crossed that President Trump is hoping maybe in
- 6:01Speaker 2: the next few days we will have some kind of
- 6:03Speaker 2: resolution in Iran. But one thing that is good about
- 6:06Speaker 2: this president is he is not just going to settle
- 6:08Speaker 2: for something. He wants the right deal, or else there
- 6:11Speaker 2: will be no deal. He's made that amply clear. Seven
- 6:14Speaker 2: ten w R the Voice of New York. If you
- 6:16Speaker 2: want to give us a call, the numbers eight hundred
- 6:18Speaker 2: and three to two one zero seven ten. Well, we
- 6:21Speaker 2: have the funniest butt kisser of a politician whoever existed.
- 6:25Speaker 2: It seems in the state of New York. Kathy hokel
- 6:27Speaker 2: O katihokol As reluctant say, I know, I'm sorry. I
- 6:30Speaker 2: shouldn't making fun of those awful caps that she has,
- 6:33Speaker 2: but I can't help myself because I'm a I'm a
- 6:35Speaker 2: very bad Catholic when it comes to that. Sorry, Kathy,
- 6:39Speaker 2: it's like she had a twofer two for one. I
- 6:41Speaker 2: get both front teeth of the same fifty dollars from
- 6:43Speaker 2: the dentist on the corner in Buffalo. The good Governors
- 6:46Speaker 2: decided that she would codify that which already unofficially exists
- 6:51Speaker 2: throughout the state and has for years, and that is
- 6:53Speaker 2: that New York is now officially and publicly a sanctuary state.
- 6:57Speaker 2: Before they said, oh, we're not a sanctuary state, even
- 7:00Speaker 2: though we followed all the sanctuary policies, and that law
- 7:03Speaker 2: enforcement couldn't reach out to federal law enforcement because of
- 7:07Speaker 2: people who are here illegally. Now, I ask you, O,
- 7:11Speaker 2: fellow taxpayer New Yorker, and yes, I am a fellow
- 7:14Speaker 2: taxpayer New Yorker, even though I live in New Jersey.
- 7:16Speaker 2: Because when you work in New York City, you have
- 7:18Speaker 2: to pay city taxes and state taxes even if you
- 7:21Speaker 2: don't live here. What benefit to you and the state
- 7:25Speaker 2: of New York is there by officially mandating that New
- 7:29Speaker 2: York be a sanctuary state. When you elect somebody governor,
- 7:34Speaker 2: they're supposed to be the person you elect to benefit
- 7:37Speaker 2: you and your family. All Right, You work hard, you
- 7:39Speaker 2: pay taxes, and then they take your money, your tax money,
- 7:43Speaker 2: and they give it to people who shouldn't even be
- 7:45Speaker 2: here legally. They're not here legally. That is so, why
- 7:49Speaker 2: why would you keep voting for these people? What is
- 7:52Speaker 2: the point and again to what benefit? How does it
- 7:57Speaker 2: benefit the state that you would elect somebody who would
- 8:00Speaker 2: create a sanctuary state status in New York. I want
- 8:04Speaker 2: you to think about what it means to have millions
- 8:08Speaker 2: of illegal migrants in the state of New York. And
- 8:11Speaker 2: by the way, I am not against people who come
- 8:13Speaker 2: from another country. That is perfect. That is fine. There
- 8:16Speaker 2: is a legal process to do it. But ken the
- 8:19Speaker 2: migration system is broken. No, it is not. It's only
- 8:23Speaker 2: broken for those of you who want people to come
- 8:26Speaker 2: in illegally and vote Democrat. Then it's broken because you
- 8:29Speaker 2: want twenty thirty million more like you got under the
- 8:31Speaker 2: Biden administration. For those of us who want it done,
- 8:35Speaker 2: fairly where you come in in limited numbers, so you
- 8:38Speaker 2: can properly incorporate into society, or be incorporated in our
- 8:42Speaker 2: society and become a successful and happy American for those
- 8:47Speaker 2: of us who want it the way it is legal,
- 8:50Speaker 2: So we could do so to the tune of one,
- 8:52Speaker 2: two or three million a year, which is what we allow.
- 8:55Speaker 2: You know that we allow more people to become citizens
- 8:58Speaker 2: of the United States every year than every other single
- 9:03Speaker 2: country on the planet combined. So when I hear oh,
- 9:07Speaker 2: it's a broken immigration system, there is nothing broken. We
- 9:10Speaker 2: are extremely generous, more generous than anyone and everyone else combined.
- 9:15Speaker 2: So we allow millions in through the legal process in
- 9:19Speaker 2: this country every year, and you just have to follow
- 9:22Speaker 2: the process. Can we allow everybody on the planet who
- 9:25Speaker 2: wants to come in? Seven billion people? Know as the
- 9:30Speaker 2: people on the left looff to say, it's unsustainable, and
- 9:33Speaker 2: it is unsustainable. We only have a limited amount of space,
- 9:36Speaker 2: and our economy would collapse if we let everyone wants
- 9:39Speaker 2: to be here to come in. Makes me a laugh
- 9:42Speaker 2: of all the people protesting who hate this country so much,
- 9:45Speaker 2: and yet somehow millions of people are breaking down the
- 9:47Speaker 2: doors to come in every year. Why don't we swap.
- 9:50Speaker 2: Why don't you go to Lithuania or Italy or Botswana
- 9:53Speaker 2: or wherever else these people are coming in from, And
- 9:56Speaker 2: why don't you go there, swap because you don't want
- 9:58Speaker 2: to be here. Go ahead, go over and see how
- 10:01Speaker 2: you like you know whatever, Southern googuz yeah, wherever, go
- 10:05Speaker 2: see how you like it. And then come back after
- 10:07Speaker 2: a year and write a little report on what it's
- 10:09Speaker 2: like not to be able to earn a living or
- 10:13Speaker 2: be able to speak publicly or post something on social
- 10:15Speaker 2: media and getting arrested and having somebody knock down your
- 10:18Speaker 2: door because you're gay or bisexual or lives with somebody
- 10:21Speaker 2: unmarried or whatever. You got to do that, then come
- 10:24Speaker 2: back and let us know how you like it. Seven
- 10:26Speaker 2: ten w R. The Voice of New York. Something that
- 10:29Speaker 2: was brought up to me that I didn't even realize.
- 10:32Speaker 2: Think about this state of New Jersey as nine million residents,
- 10:36Speaker 2: nearly a million additional people are there illegally. So think
- 10:42Speaker 2: about that number, Like twelve percent of the state right
- 10:44Speaker 2: now is there illegally, which is just obscene, an obscene number. Okay,
- 10:50Speaker 2: here's what it does to the environment when you have
- 10:54Speaker 2: twelve percent of the people just piled in who shouldn't
- 10:58Speaker 2: be there, who were unaccounted four in the beginning, So
- 11:01Speaker 2: we did not build an infrastructure for them. We didn't
- 11:04Speaker 2: create the extra classroom spaces for them. So all the
- 11:09Speaker 2: liberals in the nineties and the year the early two thousands,
- 11:11Speaker 2: of the late eighties, all we heard from the school unions,
- 11:14Speaker 2: et cetera, the teachers' unions, is in order to have
- 11:17Speaker 2: an effective classroom size, you need you need no more
- 11:20Speaker 2: than twelve to fifteen students per teacher. Then we can
- 11:23Speaker 2: have an effective classroom size. But it's okay. Those same
- 11:26Speaker 2: liberals don't mind when fifteen other kids come in who
- 11:30Speaker 2: were here illegally. That's okay. Then they don't complain. So
- 11:33Speaker 2: suddenly the classroom is back up to thirty kids because
- 11:36Speaker 2: fifteen unaccounted for illegal kids have come in and by law,
- 11:41Speaker 2: we have to educate them. And I'm fine with that.
- 11:44Speaker 2: But all of a sudden, you have thirty kids in
- 11:46Speaker 2: a classroom. We're back to where we were before. So
- 11:49Speaker 2: now we don't have the ability to have the attention
- 11:52Speaker 2: focused on twelve to fifteen kids. Not only do we
- 11:54Speaker 2: now have thirty kids jammed in a classroom but now
- 11:57Speaker 2: they're multi lingual, so the teacher can't focus on just
- 12:01Speaker 2: teaching things in English. Now we have to have teachers
- 12:04Speaker 2: who speak different languages, who cost these schools, the school
- 12:08Speaker 2: system way more money because they have to speak other
- 12:10Speaker 2: languages to kids who come here. This is how it
- 12:13Speaker 2: impacts society. What do we end up doing when we
- 12:15Speaker 2: have millions of extra people jamming the streets of New York. Oh,
- 12:19Speaker 2: let's just charge congestion pricing to everybody else. So now
- 12:22Speaker 2: I have to pay extra money because you lawmakers have
- 12:27Speaker 2: turned a blind eye and allowed all these people who
- 12:29Speaker 2: are here illegally to continue being here crimes being committed. Oh,
- 12:32Speaker 2: by the way, that's one of my other favorites. My
- 12:34Speaker 2: Democrat lawmaker friends say, Ken, it is a fact. It
- 12:38Speaker 2: is a fact that illegal migrants as you like to
- 12:41Speaker 2: call them, and nobody is illegal. Ken, illegal migrants cause
- 12:45Speaker 2: fewer crimes than citizens. Bull. And here's why it's bull.
- 12:51Speaker 2: Do you know, in the city of New York, it
- 12:53Speaker 2: is against the law for law enforcement to inquire as
- 12:56Speaker 2: to somebody's citizenship status. So if you can't even ask
- 13:00Speaker 2: if they're here illegally, and somebody commits a crime, how
- 13:03Speaker 2: do you know if they're here illegally or not. You don't, right,
- 13:07Speaker 2: so police arrest you for committing a crime. You are
- 13:10Speaker 2: forbidden by law from asking what is your citizenship status.
- 13:15Speaker 2: So when you file a report on that individual who
- 13:17Speaker 2: committed the crime, there's no way of knowing if they're
- 13:20Speaker 2: a citizen or not. So these statistics are skewed because
- 13:24Speaker 2: they love to say, then, hey, all these people who
- 13:27Speaker 2: committed crimes, they're all Americans because we don't know that
- 13:30Speaker 2: they're illegal. We don't know that they're illegal because the
- 13:32Speaker 2: people on the left on purpose do not ask and
- 13:37Speaker 2: do not permit us to ask if they're here illegally
- 13:39Speaker 2: or not, because then their cover would be blown. That's
- 13:42Speaker 2: the game being played by the left right now, and
- 13:44Speaker 2: this has been played for years. They play with these statistics.
- 13:47Speaker 2: Just like Alvin Bragg comes into office and says he
- 13:50Speaker 2: refuses to prosecute these two hundred crimes that are on
- 13:53Speaker 2: the books that are passed by lawmakers as illegal. Well,
- 13:56Speaker 2: he's not going to prosecute it because he feels that
- 13:59Speaker 2: people in the black and brown community were unfairly targeted
- 14:02Speaker 2: in those laws. But what ends up happening is the
- 14:06Speaker 2: next year he says crime is down. No, crime isn't down.
- 14:09Speaker 2: You just refuse to prosecute these two hundred crimes air go.
- 14:13Speaker 2: Crime looks down on paper, but crime is up in
- 14:15Speaker 2: many cases, especially serious crime and crime involving injuring other
- 14:20Speaker 2: people are killing other people. That's actually gone up, but
- 14:23Speaker 2: it gets reported differently. And so we end up having
- 14:26Speaker 2: these liberal politicians saying, look at us, you're liket Democrats,
- 14:29Speaker 2: and look, crime is down. It's a nice game, guys,
- 14:32Speaker 2: but we're on to you now, all right, we're on
- 14:34Speaker 2: to you. So you may have fooled some people at
- 14:37Speaker 2: this point, but you're not fooling all people. Come out
- 14:39Speaker 2: with the real statistics. Talk to the rank and file
- 14:41Speaker 2: police officers on the street. You know that crime is
- 14:44Speaker 2: knocked down in the city of New York, but it's
- 14:46Speaker 2: just funny that in the sanctuary cities and states it
- 14:49Speaker 2: always appears on paper crime is down. Then do a
- 14:51Speaker 2: little analyzing, you'll find out that the very people who
- 14:54Speaker 2: say the crime is down are the people who are
- 14:57Speaker 2: covering for the people here Illegally. You cannot increase the
- 15:00Speaker 2: population by twelve percent overnight like they have in the
- 15:03Speaker 2: state of New Jersey and have everything go smoothly. Buildings
- 15:06Speaker 2: that were meant to have two people per apartments suddenly
- 15:09Speaker 2: having twelve people per apartment, and the plumbing and the
- 15:12Speaker 2: electrical and everything else. The water supply was not meant
- 15:15Speaker 2: to handle that huge influx of population. So it's not
- 15:19Speaker 2: just about not being nice to the immigrants. Ken, you're
- 15:21Speaker 2: not nice to the immigrants. Everything collapses if you don't
- 15:25Speaker 2: do it right, If you don't allow people in the
- 15:28Speaker 2: right and legal way, everything will collapse. So you can
- 15:31Speaker 2: have legal migration in this country, but you got to
- 15:34Speaker 2: do it the right way. Seven ten war the voice
- 15:37Speaker 2: of New York Ken Risotto in for Mark eight hundred
- 15:40Speaker 2: three to two to one zero seven ten. Will take
- 15:42Speaker 2: your calls in a moment, so in fact, right after
- 15:44Speaker 2: this break, so we're going to watch your calls. Eight
- 15:46Speaker 2: hundred three to two one zero seven ten. Any light
- 15:49Speaker 2: rain is going to end by about one o'clock hies,
- 15:51Speaker 2: about seventy to day as the sun tries to finally
- 15:54Speaker 2: peek out for tomorrow. Clouds in the morning, some sun
- 15:56Speaker 2: in the afternoon, eyes in the upper seventies. In just
- 15:59Speaker 2: a bit, Russians might be hacking your computer router. We're
- 16:03Speaker 2: gonna speak with a tech expert, all about it. You're
- 16:05Speaker 2: gonna want to hear it.
- 16:06Speaker 1: This is the Mark Simone Show on seven ten wr
- 16:10Speaker 1: Ken from Mark Today. Here's Ken Rosatto.
- 16:14Speaker 2: Good to be with you at seven ten wo r.
- 16:17Speaker 2: Let's go straight to the busy phones. I got two
- 16:19Speaker 2: mics at the very top, one from Nutley, one from
- 16:21Speaker 2: Puerto Rico. So I'll tell you what. Just Mike and
- 16:23Speaker 2: Nutley hang on there. Let's go to Puerto Rico first.
- 16:25Speaker 2: Good morning to you, Mike and Puerto Rico.
- 16:28Speaker 3: Good morning, another beautiful day here. Of course, I.
- 16:31Speaker 2: Love it, love it. How long ago are you from
- 16:33Speaker 2: Puerto Rico or did you move there?
- 16:35Speaker 3: I moved here about thirty years ago. I've been coming
- 16:39Speaker 3: down here since nineteen seventy when I used to work
- 16:41Speaker 3: for the government.
- 16:42Speaker 2: Ah nice, Well, I'm jealous. I hope you enjoy your day.
- 16:46Speaker 3: I believe me. It's spectactuar. But I just wanted to
- 16:49Speaker 3: make a statement. People don't understand us. They really had
- 16:52Speaker 3: no concept of what Puerto Rico is. We just passed
- 16:56Speaker 3: a law that says life begins to concept and the
- 17:00Speaker 3: person in the womb is a person, and as we're
- 17:02Speaker 3: all the rights of person, each Democrats have no concept
- 17:06Speaker 3: to what we're like. You know, we close the stores
- 17:09Speaker 3: on Easter Sunday and Good Friday. What do they think
- 17:13Speaker 3: we're gonna do? Vote for these wackos up north. I
- 17:16Speaker 3: personally don't want to be a state. I love it
- 17:18Speaker 3: the way it is. But they don't understand us at all.
- 17:21Speaker 3: I swear they don't.
- 17:22Speaker 2: They just assume they want you. They want the votes,
- 17:26Speaker 2: they want the two Senate seats, they want the congressional
- 17:28Speaker 2: seat that votes. Now there I guess there is a
- 17:30Speaker 2: There is a non voting representative that comes from Puerto Rico,
- 17:33Speaker 2: correct for the House.
- 17:35Speaker 3: That's so, that's correct, we have a which quarter commissioner. However,
- 17:40Speaker 3: what makes them think we're going to vote with Democrat?
- 17:43Speaker 3: What makes them they assume?
- 17:46Speaker 2: You know what it is because many of the Puerto
- 17:48Speaker 2: Rican folks, and by the way, are married to somebody
- 17:49Speaker 2: who's have Puerto Rican many of the Puerto Rican folks
- 17:52Speaker 2: who come to the mainland of the United States. And yes,
- 17:55Speaker 2: for those who don't realize, Puerto Rico is part of
- 17:57Speaker 2: the United States, but it is not a state. It's
- 17:59Speaker 2: a terry. But am I right? Is it a territory technically?
- 18:04Speaker 3: Well, it's a territory. It's a territory, but we have
- 18:06Speaker 3: special status. I mean, if you come from the Virgin Island,
- 18:09Speaker 3: you need a passport to come in other states, but
- 18:12Speaker 3: Puerto Rico we get on, we get off in any
- 18:14Speaker 3: other state. Interesting now, it's it's not where we don't
- 18:19Speaker 3: have the vote in the national elections. That's true, and personally,
- 18:23Speaker 3: I don't mix it. I don't miss it at all.
- 18:25Speaker 3: We vote locally. I vote locally. I don't know whether
- 18:29Speaker 3: my party is considered a Republican a Democrat, have no idea.
- 18:33Speaker 3: It's more issue warranted were.
- 18:34Speaker 2: You but you were born on the mainland though, right,
- 18:36Speaker 2: So when you moved to Puerto Rico from the mainland,
- 18:40Speaker 2: do you lose the ability to vote for the presidential election?
- 18:43Speaker 2: I guess because you're no longer a citizen or not.
- 18:45Speaker 2: You're that you're not a citizen, but you're not a
- 18:47Speaker 2: resident of the mainland. Once you go to Puerto Rico,
- 18:50Speaker 2: you lose that About when I was on.
- 18:52Speaker 3: Yeah, I voted when I was on the mainland. I'm
- 18:53Speaker 3: a disabled that from Vietnam a long long time ago.
- 18:56Speaker 3: So the the I don't miss voting in the States.
- 19:01Speaker 3: It's too crazy now anyway. I mean, I would probably
- 19:03Speaker 3: vote for President Trump. He seems like an American, good guy,
- 19:06Speaker 3: stand up guy. But these these Democrats that assume, oh, well,
- 19:11Speaker 3: everybody in Puerto Rico has got brown skin, the Democrats.
- 19:14Speaker 3: It's not true.
- 19:15Speaker 2: This is true.
- 19:16Speaker 3: I don't even know if they would be Democrat senators
- 19:19Speaker 3: from Puerto Rico. It's hard to tell. I mean, most
- 19:22Speaker 3: of my friends would probably vote Republican, be honest, if
- 19:25Speaker 3: they were voting in a federal election.
- 19:27Speaker 2: And even if they would have voted Democrat at one
- 19:29Speaker 2: point in times. They are a change and a lot
- 19:31Speaker 2: of people have their eyes wide open and they're taking
- 19:33Speaker 2: a look at everything. Mike in Puerto Rico, enjoy your
- 19:36Speaker 2: the sunshine, but we remember our vets and thank you
- 19:39Speaker 2: for serving our country.
- 19:40Speaker 4: Sir.
- 19:40Speaker 2: I appreciate you for being on with us. Let's go
- 19:42Speaker 2: to Mike in Nutley, New Jersey. I used to live
- 19:44Speaker 2: right next door in Belleville. Mike, how are you, sir, Mike.
- 19:51Speaker 2: Let's go, let's hit it again. Here we go Mike
- 19:53Speaker 2: and Nutley. I'm sorry I didn't press the button properly.
- 19:55Speaker 2: How are you, sir?
- 19:57Speaker 4: Hi Ken, I'm doing okay. This is my I haven't
- 19:59Speaker 4: necessary President Trump and the d O Jane. This is
- 20:02Speaker 4: my message. Since you're going after Hassan Piker for being
- 20:06Speaker 4: a trader and popping up Cuba, you should also go
- 20:10Speaker 4: after these women of the View, because on our own
- 20:13Speaker 4: soil you have you have on Sunny Halston publicly saying
- 20:18Speaker 4: many times on the show, publicly saying that the ward
- 20:22Speaker 4: that we're having with Iran on the President Trump is unconstitutional.
- 20:27Speaker 4: What she's actually doing is encouraging the soldiers in the
- 20:31Speaker 4: Iranian regime to hurt our military forces.
- 20:34Speaker 2: Well, I'm gonna paure. I'm gonna pasture one second right there,
- 20:37Speaker 2: only because we're tired on time, Mike. They're actually doing
- 20:39Speaker 2: something right now about it, and that is they have
- 20:41Speaker 2: the FCC investigating the broadcast licenses of all the ABC
- 20:47Speaker 2: owned TV stations and it's based primarily on what the
- 20:51Speaker 2: women of the View have said. And the reason why
- 20:54Speaker 2: they did that is because on the View they ABC
- 20:59Speaker 2: at one point. Remember I used to work for the company.
- 21:01Speaker 2: I don't work for them anymore, but they used to
- 21:04Speaker 2: have the View under their entertainment division, then they had
- 21:07Speaker 2: it under their news division, and I believe, and I
- 21:10Speaker 2: don't know for sure, but I believe it is back
- 21:11Speaker 2: under their entertainment division. If it's under the entertainment division,
- 21:15Speaker 2: then it must allow equal time when they're talking candidates,
- 21:20Speaker 2: and apparently they had on one candidate not another, and
- 21:23Speaker 2: so that's something that will be brought up. However, the
- 21:26Speaker 2: way the FCC works, the FCC can't proactively come after
- 21:29Speaker 2: a TV station. It has to be as the result
- 21:32Speaker 2: of complaints. So if people don't complain in mass the
- 21:35Speaker 2: FCC doesn't just can't really take it upon itself. All
- 21:38Speaker 2: they can do is what they've done now, and that's
- 21:40Speaker 2: asked for an early review of the broadcast licenses, and
- 21:43Speaker 2: that's something that they're doing right now. Vincent and Brooklyn,
- 21:46Speaker 2: we got about a minute left, and I can't let
- 21:48Speaker 2: a day go by without having you on my friend.
- 21:49Speaker 2: How are you good?
- 21:50Speaker 5: I'm okay, Ken, Good morning, Ken. You were talking about
- 21:54Speaker 5: classroom size. Back in the fifties, I attended parochial school
- 21:59Speaker 5: and in the classrooms we had fifty kids in the classroom.
- 22:04Speaker 5: The boys were on one side of the room, the
- 22:07Speaker 5: girls were on the other side of the room, and
- 22:09Speaker 5: the nun or the brothers had no problem with discipline
- 22:14Speaker 5: in the classroom. Nobody spoke out, nobody wild anything like that.
- 22:20Speaker 5: So these New York City school teachers are full of bologne.
- 22:23Speaker 5: It's just a union money grab can. A number of
- 22:28Speaker 5: years ago, an investigative journalists in Italy asked an Albanian criminal.
- 22:33Speaker 5: They dispixelated out the guy's face. They said, why do
- 22:37Speaker 5: you come all the way from Albania and or from
- 22:42Speaker 5: Romania to commit crimes in Italy? And the guy said,
- 22:46Speaker 5: if I rob a chicken in Romania, I get five
- 22:50Speaker 5: years in the joint he says, if I rob a
- 22:53Speaker 5: chicken in Italy, he said, the judge will probably ask me, oh,
- 22:58Speaker 5: you forgot to take the side? Is Darren life the difference?
- 23:04Speaker 2: That's it. We are. We are empathetic to an extreme,
- 23:07Speaker 2: and that is part of the problem. Vincent, I know
- 23:10Speaker 2: that you will spend this day remembering those who fought
- 23:12Speaker 2: and died for us. I got a cut only because
- 23:14Speaker 2: it's the news time.
- 23:15Speaker 5: I certainly will, But.
- 23:16Speaker 2: My friend, God bless you, and I always appreciate your call. Vincent.
- 23:19Speaker 2: Vincent from Brooklyn, We appreciate you, and a very good
- 23:21Speaker 2: Memorial Day to you. And I can say good Memorial
- 23:24Speaker 2: Day because you were You will spend a good time
- 23:27Speaker 2: thanking people, whether in your heart those who passed on,
- 23:31Speaker 2: or even a living vet. Yes, it is good to
- 23:34Speaker 2: always thank a living vet for all those people who
- 23:37Speaker 2: fought and of course sadly those who died for us.
- 23:40Speaker 2: So remember on this Memorial Day, take a moment kind
- 23:43Speaker 2: of hoist a toast to those who died for us,
- 23:46Speaker 2: or say a prayer, moment of silence, just some recognition,
- 23:49Speaker 2: put out the flag to say thank you for the
- 23:52Speaker 2: ultimate sacrifice that you made for us. And then yes
- 23:54Speaker 2: it's okay to enjoy a hot dog, and then you
- 23:56Speaker 2: can say happy Memorial Day. In that case, it's a
- 24:00Speaker 2: ok to be happy once you first said thank you.
- 24:02Speaker 2: I think that's very important. Seven to ten WR the
- 24:05Speaker 2: Voice of New York. It's Ken Rosotto and from Mark
- 24:08Speaker 2: on Memorial Day, Monday, Mark, we'll be back tomorrow. But
- 24:10Speaker 2: you know, in the meantime, you spend good money on
- 24:12Speaker 2: a fancy schmancy computer router and it reaches every inch
- 24:15Speaker 2: of your home. Now you find out that Russians could
- 24:19Speaker 2: be hacking into it, reading every keystroke to tap and
- 24:23Speaker 2: seeing every website you serve too. Well, it sounds crazy,
- 24:26Speaker 2: but it's not joining us now with this topic and
- 24:28Speaker 2: Morris brand and digital strategist Fisher, who could be found
- 24:32Speaker 2: on x and threads with user name at Fisher and
- 24:34Speaker 2: through his website Fisher dot media. Good morning Fisher, Good
- 24:38Speaker 2: morning to you, sir. Good to have you want. So,
- 24:40Speaker 2: what is this about home routers potentially being hacked by Russia.
- 24:45Speaker 6: Yeah, they discovered the Russian hackers compromised thousands of mainly
- 24:49Speaker 6: small office and home office routers across twenty three states
- 24:53Speaker 6: since at least twenty twenty four. The FBI and the
- 24:56Speaker 6: NSA issued a warning after they remotely resetted affected devices.
- 25:02Speaker 6: They got the permission via a court order, but they
- 25:05Speaker 6: reset the administration passwords on these routers, and they also
- 25:09Speaker 6: obviously urged owners to take immediate action to prevent ongoing,
- 25:14Speaker 6: you know, targeting of primarily military, government and critical infrastructure.
- 25:18Speaker 6: So if you had an in with that, if you
- 25:20Speaker 6: worked for the government, you were probably or you were
- 25:23Speaker 6: a subsidiary, you know, things like that, you were probably
- 25:26Speaker 6: a target. The attack hit mainly older routers from TP link.
- 25:31Speaker 6: Many are past what they call end of life, so
- 25:33Speaker 6: they no longer receive security updates. But you know, there
- 25:36Speaker 6: are important things that you could do. If you have
- 25:39Speaker 6: a router at home, which is mainly all of us,
- 25:43Speaker 6: and you know, step one, update your router firmware regularly.
- 25:48Speaker 6: Automatic updates are pretty standard. If you have Nest, Wi
- 25:51Speaker 6: Fi or EUO, it's pretty standard. It'll you know, pop
- 25:55Speaker 6: up an update saying it's time to update, and then
- 25:57Speaker 6: they'll eventually just push it for you. If you have
- 26:00Speaker 6: you know, a more advanced router like Netgear, a TP
- 26:03Speaker 6: link in this case, check the router's firmware, just log in.
- 26:06Speaker 6: Reboot your router weekly. You and I talked about this,
- 26:08Speaker 6: and you do it more often because you do a
- 26:10Speaker 6: lot of TV obviously from the house, and so it's
- 26:14Speaker 6: always good to reboot your router at least monthly or
- 26:18Speaker 6: at some regular interval. It helps clear potential malware and
- 26:23Speaker 6: it helps maintain security. Also, change the default username and passwords.
- 26:26Speaker 6: We've talked about this a lot. And this isn't just
- 26:28Speaker 6: the Wi Fi password. I'm talking about the back end
- 26:33Speaker 6: of your Wi Fi. Typically it's the username's admin and
- 26:36Speaker 6: the passwords one, two, three, four five, So change that.
- 26:39Speaker 6: And if you have remote management, and again this is
- 26:43Speaker 6: if you're kind of like a you know, tech pro,
- 26:46Speaker 6: a tech know it all. Remote management allows you to
- 26:49Speaker 6: do things remotely, right, so outside of your house, turn
- 26:52Speaker 6: it off and then that way that's not a you know,
- 26:55Speaker 6: an endpoint for hackers. And then if you can use
- 26:57Speaker 6: a VPN, if you work from home to a company,
- 27:00Speaker 6: typically your work laptop has a VPN, but you can
- 27:03Speaker 6: get it for your house and for your your router.
- 27:06Speaker 6: It doesn't just have to be for for work or
- 27:09Speaker 6: for travel, So look into that as well, and keep
- 27:12Speaker 6: in mind, you know, your router is a high value
- 27:14Speaker 6: target because all your network traffic passes through it, whether
- 27:17Speaker 6: it's the lights turning on and off in your house automatically,
- 27:20Speaker 6: or your web traffic or your TV. So you know
- 27:23Speaker 6: you want to secure that. It's kind of like locking
- 27:25Speaker 6: your doors.
- 27:26Speaker 2: Well I understand that Minnesota for real now because you
- 27:29Speaker 2: and I get around a lot on the show we
- 27:31Speaker 2: do in New Jersey, But for real, Minnesota is now
- 27:33Speaker 2: making it basically illegal to use a VPN. Have you
- 27:36Speaker 2: heard about this. I'm catching you off guard here, So yeah,
- 27:39Speaker 2: they just passed legislation and it's it's basically to prevent
- 27:44Speaker 2: gambling using like call she those Okay, so what people
- 27:49Speaker 2: were doing to get around that? So they could use
- 27:51Speaker 2: call she as they were using a VPN, so you
- 27:52Speaker 2: couldn't locate where they were, and they could say that
- 27:55Speaker 2: they were in a different state. So now the legislation
- 27:58Speaker 2: has been supplemented with something that said, you can't use
- 28:01Speaker 2: software that says you're in a place that you're not. Well,
- 28:03Speaker 2: that's what VPNs do. They kind of disguise where you are.
- 28:07Speaker 2: Isn't that what they do?
- 28:07Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 28:08Speaker 6: Yeah, they well, yeah, they log you in from someplace else. Yeah,
- 28:12Speaker 6: or you completely offic scate your Is it the word
- 28:15Speaker 6: I'm looking for? Yes, yes, your location, So no matter,
- 28:19Speaker 6: it's not even saying you're from someplace else. I would
- 28:21Speaker 6: say that, And I don't know how far along that is.
- 28:24Speaker 6: I can't say that that's going to pass because these services,
- 28:28Speaker 6: and I may or may not know from personal living
- 28:32Speaker 6: in Georgia and having to go to North Carolina or
- 28:34Speaker 6: Tennessee in order to do any type of sports betting
- 28:38Speaker 6: that you can't vps. I can tell you you can't play.
- 28:41Speaker 2: The lottery that way.
- 28:42Speaker 6: I've been in another state and wanted to play Mega Millions,
- 28:45Speaker 6: and I can only do it from Georgia on the app.
- 28:47Speaker 6: And so I would say that that's not going to
- 28:49Speaker 6: get very far. But yeah, that's yeah.
- 28:53Speaker 2: Yeah, because and you're right, I use I use one
- 28:55Speaker 2: of the apps when I'm in New Jersey to buy lottery,
- 28:59Speaker 2: and when I try to our place in Florida where
- 29:02Speaker 2: they don't have that online lottery purchasing, you still have
- 29:06Speaker 2: to go to a store in Florida. I've tried to
- 29:08Speaker 2: use the VPN from there and it does not permit
- 29:10Speaker 2: you to use it. But apparently there are some apps
- 29:13Speaker 2: or that claim to be able to disguise where you're
- 29:15Speaker 2: from and whatnot, and I don't know whatever. I'm not
- 29:18Speaker 2: one of those nefarious individuals, but we listen the less
- 29:21Speaker 2: go ahead.
- 29:21Speaker 6: Yeah, nonetheless, I still think you know, in our listening area,
- 29:24Speaker 6: VPNs are okay, right, So if you can lock you
- 29:28Speaker 6: router down in the ways mentioned and use a VPN
- 29:30Speaker 6: if you can, and then it's just extra secure for.
- 29:33Speaker 2: I only bring it up because with the iHeartRadio app,
- 29:35Speaker 2: we just had a call from Puerto Rico, so we're
- 29:36Speaker 2: getting calls all over the world for us, and that's
- 29:39Speaker 2: why we want to let folks know that I get
- 29:41Speaker 2: a caller every day on the show we do in
- 29:43Speaker 2: Jersey from Minnesota. So that's kind of interesting. All right,
- 29:46Speaker 2: we have about a minute and a half left. Reddit
- 29:48Speaker 2: investors got a rude surprise after Meta made a direct
- 29:52Speaker 2: challenge to the popular social platform. Talk about how that
- 29:55Speaker 2: impacted shares of Reddit dropping because of their app called Forum.
- 30:01Speaker 6: Yeah, so Reddit sharre stropped almost six percent on Friday
- 30:04Speaker 6: because Facebook. Meta rolled out a new app called Forum,
- 30:08Speaker 6: and it's for their Facebook groups.
- 30:10Speaker 2: Now Reddit, and I'll try to be quick.
- 30:12Speaker 6: Reddit is a great place to go to if you
- 30:15Speaker 6: have a question and you can ask regular people. It's
- 30:17Speaker 6: whether you know, whether should I change the transmission fluid
- 30:21Speaker 6: on my two thousand forward you know, explorer whatever, and
- 30:24Speaker 6: they're you know, they're just experts. There are people. It's
- 30:26Speaker 6: also a cesspool, right, so so Facebook basically rolled out
- 30:30Speaker 6: a new one that's based on the back of Facebook Groups.
- 30:34Speaker 6: It's attached to your Facebook account, so it's clean. It
- 30:37Speaker 6: probably you know, is less cesspooly and you know, well,
- 30:41Speaker 6: time will tell, but it is attached to you compared
- 30:44Speaker 6: to Reddit. You can create a fake email, or you
- 30:47Speaker 6: could just create an email that's not you know, tied
- 30:49Speaker 6: to yours. Apple and Google both allow you to hide
- 30:52Speaker 6: your email, and you can create a persona and then
- 30:55Speaker 6: ask questions or whatever. Facebook won't allow that because it's
- 30:59Speaker 6: going to tie it to your So whether or not
- 31:00Speaker 6: this catches on as well as Reddit don't know, but
- 31:04Speaker 6: at least it's an alternative if you're not into the
- 31:07Speaker 6: reddit and the subreddits and the cesspool stuff. They can
- 31:10Speaker 6: because it could be pretty brutal.
- 31:12Speaker 2: There's a lot of hate on Reddit. There's a lot
- 31:15Speaker 2: of hate. People just they attack to attack. It's like
- 31:18Speaker 2: you're going say, hey, it's a nice day. No it isn't,
- 31:20Speaker 2: You're an idiot.
- 31:20Speaker 3: Die.
- 31:21Speaker 2: It's like what I just said, it's a nice day
- 31:23Speaker 2: by post unbelievable. Really, it's crazy, and that, by the way,
- 31:27Speaker 2: I'm the one who is doing the attacking. No, I'm kidding.
- 31:30Speaker 3: It is.
- 31:30Speaker 6: But you could get the app if you want to
- 31:32Speaker 6: try it. It's on iOS right now, that's where they're
- 31:34Speaker 6: testing it. It's called Forum by Facebook, and you can
- 31:38Speaker 6: download the app.
- 31:38Speaker 2: Because what Meta needs is yet another addition to its
- 31:42Speaker 2: social media platforms.
- 31:44Speaker 6: Tied to your name and your persona, so they can
- 31:46Speaker 6: track you with everything that you absolutely.
- 31:49Speaker 2: Mark is at home right now saying ha ha, I
- 31:52Speaker 2: know everything about you. Yes, I just go buy a
- 31:54Speaker 2: first day basis with mister Zuckerberg. All right, Brandon digital
- 31:57Speaker 2: strategist Fisher who can be found on and threads with
- 32:01Speaker 2: user name at fisher and through his website Fisher dot Media.
- 32:04Speaker 2: It was a pleasure. Thanks for coming on the Mark
- 32:06Speaker 2: Sramone Show today. Thanks Ken, you bet and kenbraz Otowan
- 32:10Speaker 2: from Mark for your Memorial Day. When we come back,
- 32:12Speaker 2: we'll take call. We squeeze in one or two before
- 32:15Speaker 2: the end of the hour. The number is eight hundred
- 32:17Speaker 2: three two one zero seven ten. Eight hundred three two
- 32:22Speaker 2: one zero seven ten for seven ten WR. WR is
- 32:27Speaker 2: the Voice of New York. We made it to the
- 32:29Speaker 2: end of the broadcast here before we have our top
- 32:32Speaker 2: of the our news, but we have time for one
- 32:34Speaker 2: more phone call. Let's go to Bob in Florida. Good
- 32:37Speaker 2: morning to you, Bob, Good morning Ken.
- 32:40Speaker 3: I just wanted to thank you Ken for mentioning the
- 32:43Speaker 3: fact that we acknowledge the loss of all our military
- 32:47Speaker 3: people in all wars, but you added the factor of
- 32:51Speaker 3: the people also lost during training and if you look
- 32:54Speaker 3: at the numbers, they're astounding. Between World War Two, career,
- 32:58Speaker 3: Vietnam and now with we lost four people last year
- 33:02Speaker 3: and training for the one sixty especially Avi Asia operations
- 33:06Speaker 3: and my friend was their commander for years, and we
