Transcript
- 0:08Speaker 1: Hello, welcome back to Inside the Tape on Inside the
- 0:11Speaker 1: Birds with Greg Cosell. I'm Jeff Boscher alongside Adam Kaplan,
- 0:15Speaker 1: and yes, we bring in Greg Cosell to break down
- 0:17Speaker 1: the Eagles offense and there wasn't much of it, strangely
- 0:21Speaker 1: enough against the New York Giants, say lose thirty four
- 0:24Speaker 1: to seventeen. And you know, Greg, a lot of people
- 0:28Speaker 1: are We're already wondering about the Eagles offense going into it.
- 0:32Speaker 1: We've talked about it a lot here on Inside the
- 0:34Speaker 1: Tape and yet again not a not an effort that
- 0:37Speaker 1: is up to par for what people have come to
- 0:39Speaker 1: expect for the Eagles. So when you watch the tape,
- 0:42Speaker 1: what is what are some of the big things that
- 0:44Speaker 1: jumped out to you?
- 0:46Speaker 2: I mean, to me, the number one issue is the
- 0:48Speaker 2: old line. And there's so many plays. You know, it's
- 0:52Speaker 2: funny as none of us live under rock, so we
- 0:54Speaker 2: all hear things, and you know, I hear people who
- 0:57Speaker 2: know better start with this prediction bull stuff. You know,
- 1:01Speaker 2: you know what happened to twenty twenty four. The Eagles
- 1:03Speaker 2: offense was really predictable in twenty twenty four, but the
- 1:07Speaker 2: old line created a lot of big holes for Barkley,
- 1:10Speaker 2: and he ran through some big holes in a very
- 1:12Speaker 2: predictable run offense. So, you know, and we can go
- 1:17Speaker 2: over plays. I made it a point in my notes,
- 1:19Speaker 2: as you guys know, to point out specific plays where
- 1:22Speaker 2: blocks were made, and there were two or three in
- 1:25Speaker 2: particular where Barkley would have had big runs, you know,
- 1:28Speaker 2: and you know, then we wouldn't be saying that it
- 1:31Speaker 2: was predictable. You know, run offenses, there's not a thousand
- 1:36Speaker 2: running plays. So the things that make run offenses different
- 1:40Speaker 2: or in the minds of the people who think it
- 1:42Speaker 2: off run offenses predictable, is how you get to basic runs.
- 1:47Speaker 2: You know. Maybe it's different personnel, maybe it's different formations,
- 1:51Speaker 2: maybe it's the use of motion. Maybe it's different blockers
- 1:55Speaker 2: at times, let's say, if you're running gap skiing a
- 1:57Speaker 2: different blocker as opposed to a guard being being the
- 2:01Speaker 2: the polar you know, the kickout blocker. But at the
- 2:04Speaker 2: end of the day, there's not a thousand different runs.
- 2:07Speaker 2: It has to be blocked at the point of attack,
- 2:10Speaker 2: and right now that's not happening for the Eagles. And
- 2:12Speaker 2: the reality is that Jalen Hurts is a complementary player,
- 2:18Speaker 2: Jalen hurts when the offense is when the run game works,
- 2:21Speaker 2: he becomes a major part of it, which is very
- 2:24Speaker 2: difficult to defend. But the past game is a secondary
- 2:28Speaker 2: element to the run game in the Eagles offense, and
- 2:30Speaker 2: Jalen is a complimentary player. So when there's no run
- 2:34Speaker 2: game and the burden theoretically falls on Jalen, the offense
- 2:40Speaker 2: is not going to be as efficient.
- 2:44Speaker 3: Oh boy, well, they Greg, before we get to the tape,
- 2:48Speaker 3: I would ask you this question, like in the first
- 2:49Speaker 3: half and we know they've this whole season's.
- 2:52Speaker 2: Better predictable on the first half.
- 2:55Speaker 3: Now they have the two good runs. We'll get to
- 2:58Speaker 3: some of that, but they still the pass. The game
- 3:01Speaker 3: looked fairly good. Now you could refute it. No, the
- 3:05Speaker 3: numbers were good, Yeah, pretty aggressive. They felt they found
- 3:09Speaker 3: matchups we talked about.
- 3:11Speaker 2: And they were in No Hutt a couple of times.
- 3:13Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yes, not uprisingly, the run game was effective
- 3:18Speaker 1: in the first half. So the pass very early, yes, yes,
- 3:22Speaker 1: very early.
- 3:22Speaker 3: But Greg, I would say this still hurts us not
- 3:25Speaker 3: been a factor in the run game, is it. No,
- 3:27Speaker 3: what do you see from that? It's a tough question.
- 3:30Speaker 2: I mean again, I can't answer why he hasn't been
- 3:32Speaker 2: they haven't called those plays. You know. Again, I don't
- 3:36Speaker 2: know if there was, you know, any minor injury factor.
- 3:38Speaker 2: I don't know if the feeling is he's not as
- 3:41Speaker 2: dynamic as he once was. I don't know if they
- 3:43Speaker 2: just don't want to do that because they feel over
- 3:45Speaker 2: time he's you know, taking meaningful hits and they just
- 3:48Speaker 2: you know, there could be any number of reasons for it.
- 3:51Speaker 2: But you know, their offense really got started in the
- 3:54Speaker 2: in the past game. And then we'll talk about the
- 3:56Speaker 2: run game. When he hit Brown for thirty yards on
- 3:59Speaker 2: second and two on the third possession, which is the
- 4:02Speaker 2: throw one of the throws Jalen is really really good at.
- 4:05Speaker 2: It was the back shoulder fade and it you know,
- 4:07Speaker 2: it beat a deebo who had very very good coverage.
- 4:10Speaker 2: I mean, those are the throws that he makes really well.
- 4:13Speaker 2: And then they go, they go no huddle for three
- 4:15Speaker 2: consecutive plays. You know, Barkley runs for six, got her
- 4:19Speaker 2: for twenty three. It was a late throw, you know,
- 4:23Speaker 2: I'm not sure what his primary reid was on that play.
- 4:26Speaker 2: Got her then four yards on an RPO action type play,
- 4:32Speaker 2: you know, so and then then then Brown was wide
- 4:36Speaker 2: open on a slant flat concept on the first play
- 4:38Speaker 2: of the fourth possession. It would have been an explosive play.
- 4:42Speaker 2: He was wide open, but a lot too crossing the
- 4:45Speaker 2: formation could God could not get caught or block and
- 4:48Speaker 2: Hurts had to tuck the ball and run for no gain.
- 4:50Speaker 2: That would have been a huge play if he could
- 4:52Speaker 2: have made that throw. And that's not a hard throw.
- 4:54Speaker 1: Is right in front of him, right, I mean, you
- 4:56Speaker 1: look at this game, Greg, to your point, that play,
- 5:00Speaker 1: the overthrow of DeVante Smith that everybody in the world see,
- 5:03Speaker 1: I didn't need to clip that. Everybody knows that that.
- 5:06Speaker 1: I may have clipped it anyway, but that's a potential touchdown.
- 5:09Speaker 1: And I think we'll go to the tape and look
- 5:11Speaker 1: at it. But a couple of runs where you point
- 5:14Speaker 1: out could have been a touchdown. It's just I know
- 5:16Speaker 1: the old adages there a hair away or a block away,
- 5:19Speaker 1: and it does fuel like sometimes that's the case. But
- 5:21Speaker 1: then as we go through the clips, we'll also see
- 5:24Speaker 1: there are some blocks that the Eagles are missing that
- 5:27Speaker 1: they ordinarily make. And you wonder why this keeps happening
- 5:30Speaker 1: week after week.
- 5:31Speaker 2: And that that there's no answer other than to show
- 5:33Speaker 2: it and say they're missing them.
- 5:35Speaker 3: I mean like every week though, Greg, we can't talk
- 5:37Speaker 3: about this has not played well. That's the bottom line.
- 5:41Speaker 3: And look, Jeff, the bottom lines. A lot of these
- 5:44Speaker 3: guys aren't healthy. Yes, Lane, you know Laye had the
- 5:47Speaker 3: stinger shoulder for a couple of weeks. Yep, he's given
- 5:50Speaker 3: up a little bit of space which he normally wouldn't
- 5:53Speaker 3: give up. My lotta we'll get into that later. It's
- 5:55Speaker 3: not Jordan has not been as consistent as we've seen.
- 5:58Speaker 3: We know about we know about Dickerson's problem, Jurgen's problems.
- 6:01Speaker 2: Greg.
- 6:02Speaker 3: We haven't talked to you much about Tyler Steen. How's
- 6:03Speaker 3: he looked this season to you?
- 6:04Speaker 2: Up and down? You know, he's he's like, he's fine.
- 6:08Speaker 2: If feature fourth guy, you know, you're you know, and
- 6:10Speaker 2: everybody's playing great football, right, But yeah, you know, if
- 6:14Speaker 2: he if he's the guy we have to talk about
- 6:15Speaker 2: is playing the best on the old line, then the
- 6:17Speaker 2: all lines having you know, it's not anyone.
- 6:20Speaker 3: Mind on the dim Stein. That's just that's not good.
- 6:22Speaker 1: Yeah, I find it a little interesting, it feels, and Greg,
- 6:25Speaker 1: you can tell me if I'm wrong. But just from
- 6:26Speaker 1: sort of the naked eye in my own watch feels
- 6:28Speaker 1: like pass protection seems pretty good. It's run blocking.
- 6:31Speaker 2: Where they're really has been a huge issue.
- 6:35Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 6:36Speaker 1: Hey, you know that one guy in the group chat
- 6:38Speaker 1: who hit a five leg parlay week one and he
- 6:40Speaker 1: wouldn't shut up about it for the rest of the season.
- 6:43Speaker 2: Sounds like Kaplin, right, Yeah, yeah, it could be him.
- 6:46Speaker 4: It could be you, and we would all want to
- 6:50Speaker 4: be you. My Bookie makes it stupid easy to get

- 8:47Speaker 2: But I mean, I don't know what plays you have,
- 8:49Speaker 2: but I mean a great example of what we're talking about,
- 8:51Speaker 2: and I want to steal your thunder. The first play
- 8:53Speaker 2: of the game. You got the first play of the game.
- 8:55Speaker 1: Guess why are we great at this?
- 8:57Speaker 2: Or what this is?
- 8:58Speaker 1: Right here? The first play and.
- 9:00Speaker 2: People need to understand we don't plan this.
- 9:01Speaker 1: So it's not like I knew that, right, just Greg
- 9:06Speaker 1: and I share the same brain sometimes.
- 9:07Speaker 2: Yeah, and so, I mean, you know, so this is
- 9:09Speaker 2: the first play of the game. Okay, So it came
- 9:12Speaker 2: out of eleven personnel. It was a mid zone contact
- 9:15Speaker 2: with the reason that they ended up with a fold
- 9:18Speaker 2: block here because Tot had the angle on the one
- 9:22Speaker 2: technique like Durgons here was not going to block Lawrence
- 9:25Speaker 2: in a straight zone concept, so it's still zone. But
- 9:28Speaker 2: they did the fold block so and Tot didn't even
- 9:31Speaker 2: make a great block, but at least he had the angle.
- 9:34Speaker 2: But Barkley cut back and compensated for it, and he
- 9:36Speaker 2: ran for eighteen yards. Yeah, I mean yeah, so you
- 9:40Speaker 2: see what happens here? Yep, And look at my alotta
- 9:43Speaker 2: look at him. Move people there you go, And then
- 9:46Speaker 2: you see Barkley cut back. That's nice and he runs
- 9:50Speaker 2: for yards. That's a heck of a jump cut. Holy,
- 9:52Speaker 2: I'm sure after the first two players of this game
- 9:54Speaker 2: eighteen and thirteen, people thought, Okay, the Eagles are back.
- 9:57Speaker 1: Yes, I did, because you're thinking it's going up against
- 10:01Speaker 1: the Giants, right, so you think the giants are very good.
- 10:04Speaker 1: Steen out into the second level there for those watching
- 10:07Speaker 1: as well, And yeah, there was a little bit of
- 10:09Speaker 1: penetration I guess that Goddard allowed, but it was it
- 10:11Speaker 1: wasn't significant enough.
- 10:13Speaker 2: But you can actually missed his block. The whole point
- 10:17Speaker 2: is that he has the angle on Lawrence, but he
- 10:19Speaker 2: kind of missed his See if he makes his block,
- 10:21Speaker 2: it probably wouldn't have been a.
- 10:22Speaker 1: Cutback, right, Yes, he did miss that.
- 10:27Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 10:28Speaker 1: So the very next play after that, as you just mentioned,
- 10:31Speaker 1: Craig is another run thirteen years You also came.
- 10:34Speaker 2: Out of eleven personnel. It was inside zone to the field,
- 10:39Speaker 2: but Robertson Harris quick penetration forced Barkley to work backside
- 10:43Speaker 2: and he did.
- 10:44Speaker 1: Yeah, Barkley right, because right now my lot has allowed
- 10:47Speaker 1: the penetration that forces Barkley to have to cut back.
- 10:50Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 10:51Speaker 1: So even when they're doing some good things, it's not
- 10:54Speaker 1: necessarily the way they drew it up.
- 10:56Speaker 3: It wasn't the inside hall. It was the out to
- 10:59Speaker 3: the left following block where Jurgons and then are exactly.
- 11:06Speaker 2: But you know, Barkley cuts back and you know that's
- 11:09Speaker 2: what you want absolutely now. Just to give you an example,
- 11:13Speaker 2: and I don't know if you have this play as well,
- 11:15Speaker 2: but the first uh on second and five on the
- 11:19Speaker 2: second possession, they ran the exact same concept as Barkley's
- 11:23Speaker 2: eighteen yard or to start the game with the full
- 11:25Speaker 2: block by Jurgons, I have a lot of misses the
- 11:28Speaker 2: block here and Burns jumps right inside of him and
- 11:31Speaker 2: it becomes all loss. So you know if my alta
- 11:34Speaker 2: makes that block. Is this the play, by the way.
- 11:37Speaker 1: No, we're about it's actually the next play. But I
- 11:39Speaker 1: just wanted to quickly show one thing since we're talking
- 11:42Speaker 1: about the offensive line. Lane Johnson very rarely you see it,
- 11:45Speaker 1: but on this play he gets driven back pretty hard
- 11:48Speaker 1: by a speed to power rush from Abduall Carter, and
- 11:51Speaker 1: I just wanted to give.
- 11:52Speaker 2: You this was the first play of the second possession. Yeah,
- 11:54Speaker 2: he got driven right back into the pocket.
- 11:56Speaker 1: I mean you don't see Lane Johnson moved. Look at him.
- 11:59Speaker 1: I mean he's balanced that way.
- 12:01Speaker 2: You rarely ever see that, right And by the way,
- 12:04Speaker 2: Carter's two hundred and fifty pounds, It's not like he's
- 12:06Speaker 2: a two It's not like it's Miles Garrett two hundred
- 12:08Speaker 2: and eighty pounds.
- 12:09Speaker 1: Right, It really didn't impact the play as much. But
- 12:11Speaker 1: I just wanted to focus on that because.
- 12:13Speaker 2: No, you're right, you're seeing that a little more this year. Yes,
- 12:16Speaker 2: you know, which makes you wonder if injuries, what is
- 12:19Speaker 2: he thirty five? At him?
- 12:20Speaker 3: Yep, Father Tom, I think it turns thirty.
- 12:22Speaker 2: You know what I mean? Yeah, you know, father time
- 12:25Speaker 2: catches up to everyone in sports, and you know, look,
- 12:29Speaker 2: the guy's the first ballot Hall of Famer as far
- 12:30Speaker 2: as I'm concerned. You know, the best right tackle of
- 12:33Speaker 2: our you know, the last fifteen years. But you know,
- 12:37Speaker 2: it catches up to everybody. You know. We don't know
- 12:39Speaker 2: if that's the case, but he's he's had more plays
- 12:43Speaker 2: like this this year than we've seen. For you, if
- 12:45Speaker 2: you sold one of those in the season, you go, oh,
- 12:48Speaker 2: my god, something's wrong.
- 12:49Speaker 3: Yeah, you said you're not used to your total score?
- 12:51Speaker 2: My god, No, this is unbelievably great. It's the first
- 12:54Speaker 2: ballot Hall of Fame.
- 12:55Speaker 3: You had talked to him with the masterminds of alimesterminds.
- 12:58Speaker 3: If you talk a lane there.
- 13:00Speaker 2: I spent twenty minutes talking to him yet awesome. Yeah,
- 13:03Speaker 2: he's great.
- 13:04Speaker 1: So this is then the play you're referring to Greg,
- 13:06Speaker 1: where they're going to run the same exact run, same
- 13:09Speaker 1: play that got Barkley eighteen yards.
- 13:13Speaker 2: Yeah, now watch, everybody.
- 13:15Speaker 1: Should focus on the left tackle here my aletta.
- 13:22Speaker 2: No, that's not the point. I'm sorry.
- 13:23Speaker 1: I messed that up. That's my fault. So that is
- 13:26Speaker 1: what what play is that?
- 13:29Speaker 2: That's that's the worst play of the second possession. You
- 13:32Speaker 2: want the second play of the second possession?
- 13:34Speaker 1: Yeah, oh, I'm sorry. That was just the end zone
- 13:36Speaker 1: angle of of Lane Johnson getting driven back. So yeah,
- 13:40Speaker 1: just if you wanted to see it from another angle there.
- 13:42Speaker 3: It was my fault on that got clubbed.
- 13:45Speaker 1: Yeah, just another angle on Lane Johnson getting play. Yeah.
- 13:48Speaker 1: Just a surprise to see right.
- 13:49Speaker 2: There, very surprising.
- 13:51Speaker 1: All right, So this is the run.
- 13:53Speaker 2: Here's the run, same play, and look at my alta
- 13:56Speaker 2: and Brian Burns. Yeah, and by the way, if he
- 13:59Speaker 2: makes that block, Barkley's up to to Nuban for at
- 14:03Speaker 2: least ten yards. And how many times last year did
- 14:05Speaker 2: we see Barkley make safeties miss exactly? Who knows what
- 14:09Speaker 2: happens at that point, but it's going to be ten yards, right.
- 14:12Speaker 1: I mean, we're rind it. So we can all take
- 14:14Speaker 1: a look again at left tackle here. It was the
- 14:17Speaker 1: same play, same play here, we go watch left tackle.
- 14:21Speaker 1: He just he just puts an outside in move on him.
- 14:25Speaker 2: Yea, he just beat him.
- 14:26Speaker 1: Yeah, that was like a basketball crossover move. And Barkley
- 14:30Speaker 1: tried to put his own basketball spin move off.
- 14:33Speaker 2: Well used to say when he was in here all
- 14:35Speaker 2: the time, you know, and when you practice that that
- 14:38Speaker 2: play in the ballroom the night before, you know, the
- 14:41Speaker 2: no one jumped inside of you, right, remember the walk through,
- 14:47Speaker 2: that's true.
- 14:48Speaker 3: That's where teams do in hotels, the ball Yeah.
- 14:52Speaker 2: So I mean, does that mean this play is predictable? No,
- 14:55Speaker 2: If he makes the block, you've got it, you know,
- 14:58Speaker 2: at least a ten yard gain and maybe more because.
- 15:01Speaker 3: You're set on a show. And Ip said it a
- 15:04Speaker 3: lot that they're just their hair off. Now this is
- 15:07Speaker 3: more than a hair off. This is a bad play.
- 15:08Speaker 2: But they've had this time tof makes his block, right, Yeah,
- 15:13Speaker 2: they're not.
- 15:13Speaker 3: They're not in sync. It's not a coaching issue.
- 15:16Speaker 2: Because what happens here is if if this doesn't happen,
- 15:20Speaker 2: tot has a little excuse me, Jurgens has a little
- 15:23Speaker 2: more rule. He works up to the second level, he
- 15:25Speaker 2: gets molass saw and now Barkley's up to Nuban. Yeah.
- 15:29Speaker 3: Wow, there's no one, Jeff, there's no Nuban's fifteen yards back.
- 15:34Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean Barkleys puts on the jets either inside
- 15:37Speaker 1: or at the edges and bounce its out and there.
- 15:39Speaker 3: It looks bad on TV at home because like, what
- 15:41Speaker 3: the hell, because you don't get a good view right.
- 15:44Speaker 1: Right, all right, So now we get a third and
- 15:47Speaker 1: eight on the first quarter. I think, uh, this is
- 15:49Speaker 1: a sack.
- 15:51Speaker 2: This is burn sack. Yeah, yeah, on a stuffy stunt.
- 15:56Speaker 1: That is not picked up correctly by Toath Craig because
- 16:01Speaker 1: as Burns starts to make his way in, nobody rotates
- 16:04Speaker 1: to take.
- 16:05Speaker 2: This is a bitch, guys, because this is a late stunt. This,
- 16:11Speaker 2: this is really hard, really hard, because because right now here,
- 16:17Speaker 2: freeze it right there, there's no way right now with
- 16:20Speaker 2: the way Carter is attacking Toth right in his face,
- 16:24Speaker 2: and Burns is clearly even even if Burns is in
- 16:27Speaker 2: Toss vision and he probably isn't, because he's got Carter
- 16:30Speaker 2: right in front of him, he's going upfield quite a
- 16:33Speaker 2: bit right now, he's not thinking for half a second
- 16:36Speaker 2: that this is going to be a te stunt, because
- 16:38Speaker 2: usually that would be the first time to even think
- 16:41Speaker 2: about it, you know. But don't forget he's not a
- 16:43Speaker 2: guy with a lot of experience.
- 16:46Speaker 1: Agreed.
- 16:46Speaker 3: It's a tough one, right, that's just it's next impart.
- 16:49Speaker 3: Yeah exactly.
- 16:49Speaker 2: I mean you can sit here with a clicker like
- 16:51Speaker 2: I do with my little clicker here and say, okay,
- 16:54Speaker 2: he should have would have could up. But it's hard.
- 16:56Speaker 1: I want to ask you, Greg, is there situations where
- 16:59Speaker 1: a stunt happens that wasn't a call stunt, but just
- 17:01Speaker 1: because of the way the traffic has created, a guy
- 17:04Speaker 1: just chooses an inside lane.
- 17:05Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, exactly.
- 17:07Speaker 2: That I don't know.
- 17:08Speaker 1: Because I thought the same thing on your point. There
- 17:10Speaker 1: was no giveaway, there was no picker.
- 17:12Speaker 2: There was no giveaway.
- 17:13Speaker 3: Yeah exactly. That that's a great design. Late stunt by
- 17:16Speaker 3: Shane Boone or late.
- 17:17Speaker 1: Stunt, right, Yeah, it's either a late stunt or maybe
- 17:20Speaker 1: that was the angle that Burns felt was best to
- 17:23Speaker 1: get to the quarterback. But it worked.
- 17:25Speaker 2: Now. Of course, the interesting thing here is they did
- 17:27Speaker 2: start with a five man front, so the center Jurgens
- 17:30Speaker 2: was staring at, you know, the fifth guy on the ball,
- 17:32Speaker 2: and he then decided to slide the other way, you know.
- 17:35Speaker 2: And again I don't know if if he did that
- 17:38Speaker 2: on his own, I don't know if that's a call.
- 17:40Speaker 2: But obviously o'careki was right over him to start, so
- 17:44Speaker 2: he had eyes on him. And then when o'careki backs off,
- 17:48Speaker 2: Jurgens theoretically can turn either way. So I don't, like
- 17:51Speaker 2: I said, I don't know if that's a call that
- 17:54Speaker 2: that you know, it's predetermined, or if he just reacts.
- 17:58Speaker 1: I don't know that right, all right, then we have
- 18:02Speaker 1: another We have a hurt scramble. This is on second
- 18:04Speaker 1: and ten. Although I'm sorry, this will be the reverse
- 18:06Speaker 1: angle of that stunt that we just swed, not the
- 18:09Speaker 1: reverse angle, the end zone angle, I guess. And there
- 18:12Speaker 1: you see it clear. Yeah, the way they rush is
- 18:15Speaker 1: not giving away.
- 18:17Speaker 2: I mean that's hard.
- 18:18Speaker 1: Yeah, that's rough. Hearts has no shot at that point.
- 18:22Speaker 2: That's not on.
- 18:23Speaker 1: No, Now here's a sim that the Giants are gonna
- 18:26Speaker 1: throw on a second and ten. You remember this Playgreg?
- 18:30Speaker 2: When was this in the game.
- 18:31Speaker 1: I believe it was the second quarter and it was
- 18:35Speaker 1: I'm sorry, third quarter, second and ten, and I think again,
- 18:39Speaker 1: Brett Toath sort of doesn't pick up the guy here
- 18:41Speaker 1: or was it what do we got here? That looks
- 18:45Speaker 1: like a run? Do I have that incorrect?
- 18:50Speaker 3: And we have to remember with Toath, he's relatively new
- 18:53Speaker 3: to guard, you know, for yeah d his career he
- 18:55Speaker 3: was a tackle and then he get the ply.
- 18:58Speaker 2: This would have been this is the one where Steen misses.
- 19:01Speaker 2: Here's another that's rights block. I mean, this is this
- 19:05Speaker 2: is a you know, counter concept, or it's a gap
- 19:08Speaker 2: Skien concept. So just think about this. If if he
- 19:16Speaker 2: makes this block hmm okay, talking about Steen Steen, if
- 19:21Speaker 2: he makes this block, that that allows who's the rapper
- 19:27Speaker 2: here the tight end, That allows the tight end to
- 19:30Speaker 2: get through there up to fifty three and now you
- 19:33Speaker 2: get Barkley up to Holland, who's fifteen yards off the ball.
- 19:37Speaker 2: This could have been an eighty seven yard touchdown.
- 19:40Speaker 3: Mm yep.
- 19:43Speaker 1: But Stein looks like he tries to he gets I
- 19:46Speaker 1: think that's Thibodeau number five, right, yeah, yeah. Thibodeau gets
- 19:50Speaker 1: lower than he does, knocks him over and then causes
- 19:54Speaker 1: that poor Barkley man. This is I think this was
- 19:56Speaker 1: actually the first run of the second half of I'm
- 19:59Speaker 1: not mistaken. After he had such a good sixty yards
- 20:01Speaker 1: on his first ten carries, he starts off with a
- 20:03Speaker 1: minus two there.
- 20:05Speaker 2: Yeah, it was counter out of the shotgun. Steen was
- 20:07Speaker 2: the kickout puller. He did not make his block on Thibodeaux,
- 20:10Speaker 2: and Steen makes that block, it allows Grantson is the
- 20:12Speaker 2: rapper to block Muissaw, and then it's Barkley on deep
- 20:15Speaker 2: safety Holland. I mean, that's what you're looking at, Jeff.
- 20:18Speaker 3: Think about it. His first two runs for mostly him
- 20:21Speaker 3: he created out of not great blocking, and then you
- 20:24Speaker 3: have this play which could have gone the distance and
- 20:27Speaker 3: it was missed.
- 20:27Speaker 1: Yeah, and that's Grantson, I think, is the rapper tight end.
- 20:30Speaker 2: Don't forget look what Holland's doing. Holland's retreating as a
- 20:33Speaker 2: post safety here, so he gets through there. I mean,
- 20:37Speaker 2: this is at least a twenty yard game and maybe more. Yes,
- 20:41Speaker 2: maybe this is an eighty seven yard touchdown. And then
- 20:43Speaker 2: of course we wouldn't be talking about how predictab all
- 20:46Speaker 2: the egos offense.
- 20:49Speaker 1: Right right, and they're trying to run this against a
- 20:51Speaker 1: pretty heavy front too, But I mean they had it
- 20:53Speaker 1: was there. It was there. Yeah, yeah, just Tyler Stein falling.
- 20:58Speaker 1: Just that's amazing how one thing goes wrong and it
- 21:00Speaker 1: just kind of food bars everything. But that's that's the
- 21:03Speaker 1: way it is exactly. I believe this next play will
- 21:07Speaker 1: be this is the Smith the Smith play, right, So
- 21:10Speaker 1: let me that's that's the origins of it. Let's go back.
- 21:14Speaker 1: So what is what is the offense looking at here?
- 21:16Speaker 2: Greg? Well? Right now, I mean Hurts knows the play. Obviously,
- 21:20Speaker 2: he's looking at single high safety, so you know he's
- 21:23Speaker 2: thinking right now, he's going to work to either outside. Again,
- 21:27Speaker 2: I don't know the route. You know down below that's
- 21:30Speaker 2: a J Brown right down below the boundary acts. So
- 21:34Speaker 2: it's third and long, is it not?
- 21:36Speaker 1: It is? I believe I thought a second because it
- 21:39Speaker 1: was right after that Barkley miss.
- 21:40Speaker 2: Yeah, no, this is third and six.
- 21:42Speaker 1: Oh okay, my fault.
- 21:44Speaker 2: This is third and six. So now he's staring rightly.
- 21:51Speaker 2: So when he takes a snap right at Holland, you
- 21:54Speaker 2: want to make sure he stays right where he is.
- 21:56Speaker 2: You don't want to take him to one side or
- 21:58Speaker 2: the other right, so he ends up looking to his left,
- 22:02Speaker 2: which is fine. I mean, you go work either side.
- 22:04Speaker 2: There's no right or wrong here. I mean, I don't
- 22:06Speaker 2: think there's a right or wrong. My guess is, you
- 22:09Speaker 2: know it's they probably tell him either side and flot
- 22:13Speaker 2: for whatever reason. Because this is cover. One just blows
- 22:16Speaker 2: the coverage. Now, this is a tricky play because theoretically,
- 22:22Speaker 2: on the blackboarder on the iPad, Hurtz throws this ball
- 22:26Speaker 2: where you're taught to throw it. It's about four yards
- 22:28Speaker 2: from the sideline. That's where you're taught to throw it.
- 22:32Speaker 2: But he's looking that way and he sees that Smith
- 22:36Speaker 2: released inside. You know, he's looking at him, So.
- 22:42Speaker 1: Maybe adjust what you were I'm not a quarterback.
- 22:45Speaker 2: I've not been coached by you know, to play quarterback,
- 22:48Speaker 2: but I think at that point you've got to throw it.
- 22:50Speaker 2: Based on your receiver, you can you can't miss. I
- 22:53Speaker 2: guess what I'm saying is, I don't think you can
- 22:55Speaker 2: miss this throw in a game because you're not going
- 22:58Speaker 2: to get someone this wide open. But technically the way
- 23:02Speaker 2: this is taught, Hurts actually throws this ball. You'll see
- 23:05Speaker 2: where it bounces. It bounces about four yards from the sideline,
- 23:09Speaker 2: you know, whereas if he had an outside release, he
- 23:13Speaker 2: would have probably dropped it right in the bucket and
- 23:15Speaker 2: it would have been a perfect throw. But Smith, unless
- 23:19Speaker 2: Smith is wrong, but you know, hey, you got to release.
- 23:22Speaker 2: I mean, you can't get disrupted, so you got to release.
- 23:25Speaker 2: And most coaches tell you whatever, your best release is
- 23:29Speaker 2: get out of there. You got to go. You know,
- 23:31Speaker 2: you can't dance with him, so you got to go.
- 23:35Speaker 2: So Hurts is looking at him. So you know, like
- 23:38Speaker 2: I said, you know, I think that you gotta believe
- 23:41Speaker 2: if a receiver on a vertical route is this open,
- 23:44Speaker 2: You've got to hit this throw.
- 23:45Speaker 1: Yeah, he almost threw it, So that's to your point,
- 23:48Speaker 1: as if Flott was playing the proper coverage and was
- 23:50Speaker 1: just beaten by a little bit and you got to
- 23:52Speaker 1: throw it closer to the outside and not completely blown coverage.
- 23:56Speaker 3: Look, he's a great downfield passer. It's just just one
- 23:58Speaker 3: he missed.
- 23:59Speaker 2: It's I mean, I yeah, again, I don't you know
- 24:04Speaker 2: that one was hard for me because technically threw it
- 24:06Speaker 2: where you're supposed to throw it. But you also have
- 24:10Speaker 2: to have you can' In other words, it can't just
- 24:12Speaker 2: be a muscle memory throw. I'm throwing it there no
- 24:14Speaker 2: matter what, right, because a lot of throws are on
- 24:16Speaker 2: muscle memory. You know a lot of outcuts are just
- 24:20Speaker 2: you're throwing to a spot. You know, as George used
- 24:22Speaker 2: to say, you know you can I could be blindfold
- 24:24Speaker 2: and make that throw, you know, but sometimes there has
- 24:29Speaker 2: to be I used to have this conversation with Sterling
- 24:31Speaker 2: Sharp when he used to be here all the time,
- 24:33Speaker 2: and Sterling who was you know some blieve me, there
- 24:36Speaker 2: were some coaches who thought he was the best receiver ever.
- 24:38Speaker 2: He just his career was cut short. You know. He
- 24:40Speaker 2: say that based on coverage, sometimes you have to adjust
- 24:43Speaker 2: your route, you know, and the quarterback. You know, you
- 24:46Speaker 2: guys have to work together on that. Yeah. Right, So
- 24:49Speaker 2: is this the second inten.
- 24:51Speaker 1: This is just a scramble yeahs the second down scramble
- 24:54Speaker 1: by her on a sim I think to didn't pick
- 24:57Speaker 1: something up, I believe well, let.
- 24:59Speaker 2: Me just yeah. So this is so people understand what
- 25:03Speaker 2: the same pressure is. They're gonna drop out one of
- 25:05Speaker 2: the d linemen and they're gonna bring a second level
- 25:08Speaker 2: defender here and he's gonna get in clean. Right.
- 25:11Speaker 1: So who's response is that just because of the breakdown
- 25:14Speaker 1: in the protection scheme, which is as.
- 25:15Speaker 2: Well nay, if you go back to the beginning, of it.
- 25:23Speaker 2: So right now, if you're gonna map this out, Okay,
- 25:26Speaker 2: you've got the left tackle on the on the the
- 25:29Speaker 2: on Thibodeaux, you've got the left guard on the d tackle.
- 25:33Speaker 2: Now it's on Jurgons. What does he do?
- 25:36Speaker 1: Right?
- 25:37Speaker 2: But Toth is in a tough spot here, because and
- 25:42Speaker 2: again this is not a matter of him being good,
- 25:44Speaker 2: bad and different as a player. He's got a guy
- 25:46Speaker 2: attacking him right in his face. Yep. He can't just say, Okay,
- 25:50Speaker 2: I'm gonna let him go because I see the guy
- 25:52Speaker 2: behind him, you know so, And the thing is is
- 25:56Speaker 2: Jurgons just kind of retreats, not really looking at anything.
- 26:01Speaker 2: So now who's who's and and it becomes basically empty
- 26:05Speaker 2: protection because the back, you know, Barkley leaves right, so
- 26:08Speaker 2: it becomes empty protection. So the way they choose to
- 26:12Speaker 2: block this, there's no one to pick up. I think
- 26:15Speaker 2: that's moasaw right, Yes, yeah, there's no one to pick
- 26:19Speaker 2: him up. Yeah.
- 26:20Speaker 1: And I feel like the sort of a taste of
- 26:22Speaker 1: the old medics. And the Eagles have done this to
- 26:23Speaker 1: other teams this year. They've gotten a bunch of free
- 26:25Speaker 1: rushers on Simms because they've just figured out a way
- 26:28Speaker 1: to break down connection scheme. But yeah, well there's the
- 26:32Speaker 1: Hurts running game we were all talking about. Unfortunately it
- 26:34Speaker 1: wasn't a very it wasn't a very long runner a
- 26:38Speaker 1: great one. I think this is now the end zone
- 26:41Speaker 1: angle of it. Yeah, there's no good idea of what
- 26:45Speaker 1: talk you got.
- 26:46Speaker 2: You know, Tathers is right over him and the Giants
- 26:51Speaker 2: actually do a good job this disguising it Moasaw does
- 26:55Speaker 2: not run up to the line early. I mean, if
- 26:57Speaker 2: you go right before the Snapjeff, just go back a
- 27:00Speaker 2: little if you could, yep, like right here, there's nothing
- 27:04Speaker 2: about this front and look right.
- 27:06Speaker 1: Sometimes we'll see like Campbell or Bawd take that step
- 27:10Speaker 1: forward to throw them off a little bit. But you're right,
- 27:13Speaker 1: there was no disguise there. He just came right after
- 27:15Speaker 1: the snap, right.
- 27:16Speaker 2: So what happens is is Burns drops out and Jurgen's
- 27:20Speaker 2: eyes go to that side. So what you end up with,
- 27:24Speaker 2: which is exactly what you want. You know, Look, you
- 27:27Speaker 2: can't change the protection call in the middle of a play.
- 27:31Speaker 2: The guy can react a certain way and make a
- 27:33Speaker 2: good block like let's say, tok right now, just you know,
- 27:37Speaker 2: and again you with a guy without a lot of experience.
- 27:40Speaker 2: Just said, oh, I kind of feel muasaw and he
- 27:43Speaker 2: just gives him a shove with his arm and he
- 27:45Speaker 2: gets them off there. You know, things like that can happen,
- 27:47Speaker 2: but you can't change the protection call itself in the
- 27:50Speaker 2: middle of a play.
- 27:51Speaker 1: I do agree with you, though I do feel like
- 27:53Speaker 1: an experience like if Landon Dickerson's there, he probably comes
- 27:55Speaker 1: off this a little bit and give me fifty three shove.
- 27:58Speaker 2: Yeah, And you know, and it's very possible because because
- 28:02Speaker 2: Jurgens is uncovered. It's you could well be right, Jeff.
- 28:05Speaker 2: That an experienced guard because he knows that Jurgens the guy,
- 28:09Speaker 2: the guy next to him is uncovered and as soon
- 28:11Speaker 2: as that de tackle crosses his face that he just
- 28:14Speaker 2: lets him go. Because Jurgons is uncovered, he can block
- 28:17Speaker 2: him right.
- 28:19Speaker 1: All right, Moving on. We got a nice pressure here.
- 28:22Speaker 1: I believe this will be This was the play.
- 28:28Speaker 2: It's a five man pressure at a dime. Burns just
- 28:31Speaker 2: off the ball in a stand up joker alignment. Okareki
- 28:34Speaker 2: was on the ball opposite Burns. They do that intentionally,
- 28:37Speaker 2: even though he doesn't have anything to do with the
- 28:39Speaker 2: actual t stunt that's coming. But Burns is the penetrator.
- 28:43Speaker 2: Carter's the looper. But Burns is so quick off the
- 28:46Speaker 2: ball that he just beats tos and he ends up
- 28:49Speaker 2: making the sack even though he designed for Carter.
- 28:52Speaker 1: That's a great point.
- 28:53Speaker 2: Like he is.
- 28:54Speaker 1: And we said the last one didn't stunt. You didn't tell,
- 28:57Speaker 1: you couldn't tell that there was a true picker. But
- 28:59Speaker 1: here it really. I mean, look how hard Burns crashes
- 29:03Speaker 1: in to the left side of the Eagles line, but
- 29:05Speaker 1: then he gets through anyway.
- 29:07Speaker 2: And by the way, the reason O correct he's on
- 29:11Speaker 2: the ball and he rushes is because they want to
- 29:13Speaker 2: make sure that the center, who's now covered and has
- 29:17Speaker 2: to block a d tackle can't slide off and to
- 29:20Speaker 2: help versus the stunt, right, I think we'll see it
- 29:23Speaker 2: right here.
- 29:24Speaker 1: Yep.
- 29:24Speaker 2: See you know right over Jurgons, he's got to block him,
- 29:29Speaker 2: You got to block them. Yep, he can't help. So
- 29:32Speaker 2: now the stunt becomes two on two there's you know,
- 29:35Speaker 2: and they win.
- 29:36Speaker 1: Wow, it's very rare. See guy just beat a double
- 29:39Speaker 1: well not double team, but just the picker just gets
- 29:41Speaker 1: right through like that. But I think Burns is leading
- 29:44Speaker 1: the NFL in sacks right now. If I'm not mistaken.
- 29:46Speaker 2: So he's pretty quick.
- 29:48Speaker 1: He's long arms man, remember small it was what was
- 29:53Speaker 1: he like two?
- 29:54Speaker 3: He put on a massive amount of weight after the combine. Yeah,
- 29:58Speaker 3: the draft, He's explosive.
- 30:01Speaker 1: All right, this is this is later in the third quarter.
- 30:04Speaker 1: I think there was an opportunity to get to Dotson
- 30:06Speaker 1: on this one, Greg, and maybe Hurts just didn't see it.
- 30:08Speaker 2: Yeah. Again, you know, I always too often when I
- 30:13Speaker 2: watch Jalen and you know, if it's not a fur,
- 30:15Speaker 2: if he doesn't throw like immediately, the question I always
- 30:19Speaker 2: have and I don't know the answer. So I don't
- 30:21Speaker 2: want people to think I'm saying, oh, we screwed up.
- 30:23Speaker 2: Sometimes I just wonder where his eyes are, you know,
- 30:26Speaker 2: like and and this is a great example to me
- 30:29Speaker 2: of you know, Dotson ends up being wide open right
- 30:32Speaker 2: in front of him.
- 30:34Speaker 1: And Dotson is at the top of the screen in
- 30:37Speaker 1: a reduced split there. Yeah, and then DeVante Smith goes
- 30:41Speaker 1: in motion and left.
- 30:42Speaker 3: Turn Browns the only other side.
- 30:43Speaker 1: Yes, So that makes dots in the two on the
- 30:45Speaker 1: on the top.
- 30:49Speaker 2: And he's clean in the pocket, and you know, Dotson's
- 30:52Speaker 2: gonna been right in there, right right in front of him.
- 30:55Speaker 2: But he's already off of it, which is again I
- 30:57Speaker 2: don't know. I can't speak to and then that's what
- 31:01Speaker 2: I question. I just the question in my mind becomes
- 31:04Speaker 2: where are his eyes? Wow?
- 31:05Speaker 1: The longer I run this, by the way, the more
- 31:07Speaker 1: open he becomes.
- 31:09Speaker 2: He got her.
- 31:11Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean he if he needed to.
- 31:13Speaker 2: I mean I think wide.
- 31:14Speaker 3: Open for like three four seconds.
- 31:16Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah. So again I'm just, you know, I don't
- 31:20Speaker 2: know the answer to this question.
- 31:21Speaker 1: Is the design because you're talking about eyes and where
- 31:23Speaker 1: your eyes are? Is the design of this play to have?
- 31:26Speaker 1: Do you think Dotson is number one?
- 31:28Speaker 2: Here? Well, here's here's what I typed. As you guys know,
- 31:31Speaker 2: I said, the question that always comes up with Hurts
- 31:33Speaker 2: is where are his eyes? Twelve to start the fourth
- 31:36Speaker 2: quarter A great example, who was his primary dots and
- 31:39Speaker 2: open in the middle for what should be pitching catch.
- 31:41Speaker 2: But Hurst does not process that instead of leaving the pocket,
- 31:44Speaker 2: throwing to Barkley check down short of the first down.
- 31:47Speaker 2: So I I you know again, now you get into
- 31:49Speaker 2: how this play when they called this play, every pass
- 31:52Speaker 2: play is called with a primary. Okay, you're not calling
- 31:56Speaker 2: a play saying to the quarterback you're going to call
- 31:58Speaker 2: this play and you just drop back and figure out.
- 32:00Speaker 1: Out, you know, well, and there's only two wide receivers
- 32:04Speaker 1: that run. This is a third down, right, there's only
- 32:07Speaker 1: two wide receivers that run past the sticks to get
- 32:10Speaker 1: you that first out. So you have to think Dotson
- 32:13Speaker 1: is either one or two on this play.
- 32:15Speaker 2: Right, You're either you're either going to drop back and
- 32:17Speaker 2: if you feel you have it, you're gonna throw it
- 32:19Speaker 2: to Brown on the outcut if you feel you have it,
- 32:22Speaker 2: or you got Dotson working on the bender right inside. Yeah,
- 32:25Speaker 2: and obviously that is solely a check down here because
- 32:28Speaker 2: he's gonna be way short of the sticks.
- 32:30Speaker 1: Right, same with Barkley. And obviously, and it looks like
- 32:32Speaker 1: they've got bracketed coverage on Brown that heard the bottom
- 32:35Speaker 1: of the screen.
- 32:36Speaker 2: And I can see why he wouldn't throw it to
- 32:37Speaker 2: Brown because it looks like you know that Philip right, accept.
- 32:43Speaker 3: That he sees he sees the checkdown to his right.
- 32:47Speaker 3: Barkley comes out late. I don't know why he didn't
- 32:50Speaker 3: pull triggers beyond me.
- 32:52Speaker 1: Sometimes we can say the protection or but he had.
- 32:55Speaker 3: Really phenomenal protection.
- 32:57Speaker 2: You kidding me?
- 32:58Speaker 1: Yeah? No, that was that was good. Oh well, and then,
- 33:01Speaker 1: of course I believe this might be the interception that
- 33:05Speaker 1: he threw. Y.
- 33:07Speaker 2: Yeah, see this is you know a lot of people
- 33:10Speaker 2: have a lot of opinions on this. I'm not saying
- 33:12Speaker 2: mine is right. But he sees this as zero. So
- 33:17Speaker 2: now what happens when a quarterbacks read zero is they
- 33:20Speaker 2: know they have to up their tempo. They know they
- 33:22Speaker 2: don't have time in the pocket. You got to pick
- 33:24Speaker 2: out the receiver you're going to throw too. It's not
- 33:26Speaker 2: a read, and you got to get rid of it
- 33:28Speaker 2: because you know that there's an unblocked defender somewhere along
- 33:32Speaker 2: the line. Okay, you don't know, you might not know
- 33:35Speaker 2: which guy it is, but you know that your protection
- 33:38Speaker 2: can't pick it up. Okay, So now in this case,
- 33:45Speaker 2: you know it's easy to say, now, oh, look he's
- 33:47Speaker 2: got time. He doesn't know that.
- 33:49Speaker 1: No, yeah, he.
- 33:50Speaker 2: Doesn't know that. So people are saying, oh, he should
- 33:53Speaker 2: have thrown it to Brown. Well go back to where
- 33:55Speaker 2: he And by the way, Hurts is not a pure
- 34:00Speaker 2: natural timing rhythm player, so he hits his back foot
- 34:03Speaker 2: and he knows I got to get rid of the ball.
- 34:05Speaker 2: So if you can stop it right, keep going right,
- 34:08Speaker 2: one more right, now he's ready to throw. Look where
- 34:12Speaker 2: Brown is. He's going to say, well, Brown's wide open.
- 34:14Speaker 2: Well he's not open now, right, you know so? And
- 34:19Speaker 2: by the way, this was not necessarily a poor read.
- 34:22Speaker 2: He just threw it five yards too far inside.
- 34:24Speaker 1: Yeah, I agree. I understand if someone says, well, you know,
- 34:28Speaker 1: knowing the route, that if you lead against zero, if
- 34:31Speaker 1: you just lead Brown to the middle, if you kind
- 34:33Speaker 1: of throw it now toward the end zone with the
- 34:37Speaker 1: inside to the inside, that Brown probably could catch that.
- 34:39Speaker 2: But that's yeah, and maybe And by the way, I'm
- 34:42Speaker 2: not saying he could or couldn't, but Hurts doesn't see
- 34:45Speaker 2: the game that way. And you know he's thinking, right,
- 34:48Speaker 2: he's thinking, right now, I got to get rid of
- 34:50Speaker 2: the ball. And he's looking at to the one on
- 34:52Speaker 2: one on the outside, which is perfectly fine, and he
- 34:56Speaker 2: just he leaves it five yards too far inside.
- 34:59Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, doubt about it.
- 35:01Speaker 2: Like I said, when you're when you're against zero, it's
- 35:05Speaker 2: not a read. You're not dropping back. And I'm gonna
- 35:07Speaker 2: read this out. You gotta you know, you got gotta
- 35:10Speaker 2: get rid of the ball. There's gonna be an unblocked player.

- 37:38Speaker 3: You seem to indicate your notes. You said, good ball, goodball,
- 37:41Speaker 3: so you saw it hurts, particularly in the first half.
- 37:42Speaker 3: There's some really good plays from him.
- 37:44Speaker 2: Yeah, he threw some good but yeah, I mean, let's
- 37:46Speaker 2: understand one thing. The guy's an NFL quarterback. It's not
- 37:49Speaker 2: like every player every throws a bad play. Yeah, I mean,
- 37:52Speaker 2: you know, yeah, I mean, it's not like he's incapable
- 37:55Speaker 2: of making He's having greats and he has limitations, you know,
- 38:00Speaker 2: which is probably true of ninety nine point nine percent
- 38:03Speaker 2: of the quarterbacks in the NFL.
- 38:05Speaker 1: Right, you know, the point of the majority of these clips,
- 38:07Speaker 1: the eight of the first ten we looked at, was
- 38:09Speaker 1: really to focus on the offensive line in the blocking
- 38:12Speaker 1: element where things were either not blocked right or not
- 38:14Speaker 1: picked up. Those last two just happened to be passes.
- 38:17Speaker 1: But yeah, mostly this was here's what's.
- 38:19Speaker 2: Happened, guys, And this is you know, you guys always
- 38:22Speaker 2: think about this a lot, and obviously I hear the
- 38:24Speaker 2: way people talk about a lot of different things. I mean,
- 38:26Speaker 2: you know, this is what we do for a living.
- 38:29Speaker 2: As soon as a quarterback, you know, plays in Super Bowls,
- 38:32Speaker 2: win super Bowls, and plays well, what happens is the
- 38:36Speaker 2: people who cover the sport and talk about it, they
- 38:38Speaker 2: stop evaluating it. Okay, because he's won. So you know,
- 38:43Speaker 2: it's just like Patrick Mahomes, who played very well last night,
- 38:47Speaker 2: by the way. But the point is is that people
- 38:52Speaker 2: stop evaluating. They assume because he's one, which you can't
- 38:56Speaker 2: take away from him. You know, it's a mathematical equation.
- 38:58Speaker 2: They won. You know, that means he's great. So therefore,
- 39:02Speaker 2: if you just keep evaluating him based on how he's playing,
- 39:06Speaker 2: then that means you don't like him, right, you know,
- 39:09Speaker 2: it's just you continue to evaluate, you think. I mean,
- 39:14Speaker 2: you know, one of my one of the things that
- 39:16Speaker 2: that I heard the most is when I was down
- 39:18Speaker 2: in Tennessee. Not heard the most, but you know, Tennessee's
- 39:21Speaker 2: gm is was formerly with the Chiefs, and we started
- 39:24Speaker 2: talking a lot and he said to me, which you know,
- 39:29Speaker 2: made me feel really good because I think I do
- 39:31Speaker 2: a pretty good job with this. He said, you know,
- 39:33Speaker 2: I listen to you a lot. You're the only one
- 39:35Speaker 2: who evaluates Patrick Mahomes correctly. I mean, you know, he
- 39:40Speaker 2: said we have to deal with certain things throughout the
- 39:42Speaker 2: course of the season to keep getting him back on track.
- 39:44Speaker 2: And you're the only one who sees that on tape.
- 39:46Speaker 2: You know, it doesn't mean oh, you know, because when
- 39:50Speaker 2: I say stuff, you know, you know what I get
- 39:52Speaker 2: on Twitter? Well, you don't like somebody. So therefore he's
- 39:57Speaker 2: immune from you know, but he's not immune from being
- 40:01Speaker 2: coached by the coaching staff.
- 40:02Speaker 3: By the way, they never the coaching never stops, right,
- 40:06Speaker 3: it never stopped, never stops. Are you kidding me?
- 40:09Speaker 1: Right there you go, that's great, great way to believe
- 40:11Speaker 1: it great again. We really wanted to bring to like
- 40:14Speaker 1: some of the offensive line issues that have really been
- 40:16Speaker 1: hurting and.
- 40:17Speaker 2: That's that's, to me, the biggest issue of all when
- 40:19Speaker 2: it comes to the run game.
- 40:20Speaker 3: I would say, Greg, I would sell them up this
- 40:23Speaker 3: and Jeff was some of the show, this show in particular,
- 40:25Speaker 3: missed opportunities. Yeah, yeah, opportunities somebody.
- 40:29Speaker 1: We'll leave it on that great stuff. Great tape breakdown
- 40:31Speaker 1: Greg for Greg Cosell and Adam Kaplan. I'm Jeff Mosher.
- 40:35Speaker 1: You've been watching Inside the Tape with Greg Cosell on
