- 0:05Speaker 1: Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the right time. A wave original.
- 0:09Speaker 1: My name is Beaumont Jones. Thanks for listening wherever you
- 0:11Speaker 1: get your podcast. Thanks for watching us on YouTube. Subscribe, like,
- 0:15Speaker 1: rate us, review us, give us five stars. You only
- 0:17Speaker 1: give us four stars. I'm inclined to believe you are
- 0:20Speaker 1: a hater. We got a lot to talk about from
- 0:24Speaker 1: the Super Bowl, which, I mean, I want to play
- 0:29Speaker 1: something for you guys right fast, right? And for those
- 0:32Speaker 1: of you who have not heard this, This is a
- 0:34Speaker 1: clip from Justina Emanwari, all right? Her son, Nick, plays
- 0:42Speaker 1: safety for the Seahawks. They are Nigerian. She is from
- 0:49Speaker 1: Nigeria and she is doing an interview about the Super
- 0:53Speaker 1: Bowl and listen to how impressed she is by the
- 0:55Speaker 1: idea of the Super Bowl. To go over there to
- 0:58Speaker 1: San Francisco to watch this game, to watch your son.
- 1:01Speaker 2: To be honest with you, I don't know. Everybody keep
- 1:05Speaker 2: asking me, do you know what you are going for?
- 1:10Speaker 2: I said, Super Bowl. They said, do you know how
- 1:14Speaker 2: many people died to go to Super Bowl?
- 1:16Speaker 3: I'm like, how? I don't know.
- 1:21Speaker 2: I have opportunity to go there. So I'm like, okay,
- 1:25Speaker 2: maybe this is something big that I don't know.
- 1:27Speaker 1: It's big.
- 1:30Speaker 2: I don't know what I'm expecting. All I'm going to
- 1:32Speaker 2: do is to shout, yeah, Super Bowl, touchdown, we win.
- 1:36Speaker 3: That's it.
- 1:36Speaker 1: Well, let me tell you something, Doc. If she ain't
- 1:40Speaker 1: know what the big deal about the Super Bowl was before,
- 1:43Speaker 1: she sure as shit don't know what the big deal
- 1:45Speaker 1: about it is now.
- 1:47Speaker 3: I love how dumb sports sounds to people who don't.
- 1:53Speaker 3: like oh wow you ran the ball over the line
- 1:55Speaker 3: big deal good for you when you win the game I.
- 1:59Speaker 1: Sent that to the homie Toby in Wigway I don't
- 2:02Speaker 1: know if you've been here rapper out of Houston very
- 2:04Speaker 1: Nigerian cat and I sent it to him and he
- 2:07Speaker 1: was like yep That's my mom about my life. Right?
- 2:11Speaker 1: You got to really start making some paper, apparently, for
- 2:14Speaker 1: these American trivialities to really register with the Nigerian mom.
- 2:20Speaker 1: But no, after she watched that game, she's like, what
- 2:23Speaker 1: are we doing? She didn't even get to say yay
- 2:25Speaker 1: that much. If we're being perfectly honest. Now, I would
- 2:28Speaker 1: assume though, that she got to like get into the
- 2:30Speaker 1: defense because the Sun played defense and the Seahawks did
- 2:34Speaker 1: play a certain measure of defense. Like Ryan, I don't know.
- 2:36Speaker 1: Does your mama have a go-to at football games? So
- 2:40Speaker 1: like my mama has a go-to. She has two go-tos
- 2:44Speaker 1: at football games, right? And I haven't been to a
- 2:46Speaker 1: football game with my mom in a very long time.
- 2:48Speaker 1: But me and my brother talk about this all the time.
- 2:50Speaker 1: It's time for a football game with my mama. She
- 2:51Speaker 1: got two go-tos. If her team has the ball, <HAL> <HAL> <HAL>.
- 2:56Speaker 3: <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL>.
- 2:57Speaker 1: <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL>.
- 3:02Speaker 3: <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL>
- 3:04Speaker 3: Get them always. Yeah, get them is universal.
- 3:07Speaker 1: Just get them. And it is a passionate, it is
- 3:09Speaker 1: a sincere. She is invested in the get them, right?
- 3:13Speaker 1: And my mother is a fan of sports. We're not
- 3:15Speaker 1: talking about somebody just like totally out of it. I'm
- 3:17Speaker 1: wondering if Mrs. E got like charged up during the game.
- 3:21Speaker 1: Her son played a defense. You know what I'm saying?
- 3:24Speaker 1: Maybe she get her get them on. But, like, what
- 3:26Speaker 1: does she think about any of these other games that
- 3:29Speaker 1: her son was playing? And, by the way, they was
- 3:31Speaker 1: in South Carolina. I need to hear his accent because
- 3:34Speaker 1: them country-ass Nigerians, boy, they sound, they got a sound.
- 3:38Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying? But how charged up, like,
- 3:43Speaker 1: hopefully she was happy because her son's team played a
- 3:46Speaker 1: lot of defense. Congratulations. to them. Um, and shout out
- 3:52Speaker 1: to the boy Kenneth Walker. Cause that was a, that
- 3:55Speaker 1: was a old school feeling kind of, um, kind of
- 4:00Speaker 1: running back performance, right? What are we talking about? 27
- 4:03Speaker 1: carries for, um, 135 yards. That's what I'm talking about.
- 4:07Speaker 1: He's good too.
- 4:08Speaker 4: Right?
- 4:09Speaker 1: Like, And to be honest with you, he should have
- 4:12Speaker 1: had a whole lot more running yards. And the only
- 4:15Speaker 1: reason he didn't have a whole lot more running yards
- 4:18Speaker 1: is that Clint Kubiak. We got a big brain in
- 4:21Speaker 1: the house, guys.
- 4:22Speaker 3: Auditioning for a job he reportedly already has.
- 4:25Speaker 1: He already has the job. You're already... Okay, I am assuming,
- 4:30Speaker 1: and let me look up his exact track record. Because,
- 4:33Speaker 1: I mean, what I was about to say is, I'm
- 4:35Speaker 1: assuming that he's cool with the boy Kyle Shanahan, obviously. Yeah.
- 4:39Speaker 1: Because they got, you know, they daddies.
- 4:41Speaker 3: They've been going to Christmases together for 30 years.
- 4:43Speaker 1: Right, they're not the same age. He did work with
- 4:47Speaker 1: Shanahan in 2023. Right. He did not work with Shanahan
- 4:52Speaker 1: when Shanahan was working with the Falcons. And I bring
- 4:56Speaker 1: that up because we all watched Kyle Shanahan be the
- 5:00Speaker 1: most responsible culprit for the Falcons blowing that 28-3 lead.
- 5:04Speaker 1: Because for whatever reason, the dude who's built the offense
- 5:07Speaker 1: that makes it so that everybody can run the ball
- 5:10Speaker 1: was like, no, let's keep throwing. That's what we should do.
- 5:14Speaker 1: We should just keep throwing the ball. Yeah, yeah, we
- 5:16Speaker 1: got this big lead. Why don't we just keep throwing
- 5:18Speaker 1: the ball? What could possibly go wrong? Ryan, give him
- 5:21Speaker 1: the quote, the old quote.
- 5:25Speaker 3: There are three things that can happen when you throw
- 5:27Speaker 3: the ball. Two of them are bad.
- 5:29Speaker 1: There we go.
- 5:30Speaker 4: Right?
- 5:30Speaker 1: There we go. That's never been wrong. In fact, if
- 5:35Speaker 1: you extend it out and loosen the assumptions more and more,
- 5:39Speaker 1: the bad things actually keep stacking.
- 5:41Speaker 3: Yes.
- 5:42Speaker 1: And the good ones don't, right? They had reached a point,
- 5:48Speaker 1: what was this, third quarter, early fourth, where Chris Collinsworth
- 5:50Speaker 1: said the exact same thing that I was thinking. I mean,
- 5:52Speaker 1: they're going to just run the ball out, right? There's
- 5:55Speaker 1: no reason to throw the ball ever again. And by
- 5:57Speaker 1: the way, shout out to Kyle Shanahan, who learned his
- 6:00Speaker 1: lesson about that. Because he had games with Jimmy Garoppolo
- 6:03Speaker 1: where he was like, hey, man, just give somebody else.
- 6:07Speaker 3: Yeah, let's throw the ball eight times. Yeah.
- 6:10Speaker 1: And that's all in the first half.
- 6:11Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 6:11Speaker 1: Whole second half. We just go hand the ball off
- 6:14Speaker 1: the Seahawks for whatever reason, right? What do we got
- 6:16Speaker 1: to just make sure, make sure Sam get a touchdown, huh?
- 6:19Speaker 1: That's what we need to do. There was no, honestly,
- 6:21Speaker 1: there was no reason for them to run the ball
- 6:23Speaker 1: after seven 30, seven 30 PM.
- 6:26Speaker 3: I mean, yeah. Once he got to nine, nothing. Yeah.
- 6:29Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah.
- 6:29Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 6:29Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 6:30Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 6:30Speaker 1: Like once we, once we had seen the halftime show,
- 6:33Speaker 1: there was no need to throw the ball because the
- 6:35Speaker 1: Patriots were not going to do it guys. Um, Drake
- 6:41Speaker 1: may apparently, you know, he had the bad shoulder. We
- 6:43Speaker 1: knew he had a bad shoulder. He said he took
- 6:44Speaker 1: a shot before the game. He's not making any excuses.
- 6:48Speaker 1: And I'm so glad that he's not making any excuses.
- 6:50Speaker 1: So we can just talk about what this really came
- 6:52Speaker 1: down to, which was an all-time bad quarterback and performance.
- 6:56Speaker 1: And there were throws there to be made. They weren't
- 7:00Speaker 1: all great. They weren't all stupid. There was no excuse
- 7:06Speaker 1: to be as bad as he was in that game.
- 7:09Speaker 1: This wrapped up, and Ryan, you got this stat, I
- 7:11Speaker 1: think it was Steven Ruiz of the Ringer put this up,
- 7:15Speaker 1: but for quarterbacks that had gone this deep into the playoffs,
- 7:18Speaker 1: played three games in the playoffs, it's the worst postseason
- 7:22Speaker 1: by total EPA, one of them fancy advance numbers, since
- 7:26Speaker 1: the year 2000. Like, we talked about this coming into
- 7:29Speaker 1: the game. He hadn't been good. Deontay and I did
- 7:33Speaker 1: the show on Thursday, and I got to say, y'all
- 7:36Speaker 1: don't talk a lot about when your boy get it right,
- 7:41Speaker 1: me and Deontay were pretty clear. This one had beat
- 7:45Speaker 1: them down written all over it. And it had even
- 7:49Speaker 1: the beat them down punctuation, which is the gratuitous defensive
- 7:53Speaker 1: touchdown in the fourth quarter when the game is already
- 7:56Speaker 1: in hand.
- 7:56Speaker 3: Yeah. I mean, he kind of, Drake May kind of
- 8:01Speaker 3: got a pass in the first two games because CJ
- 8:04Speaker 3: Stroud was so bad when they played. And Herbert was
- 8:08Speaker 3: so bad when they played.
- 8:10Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah. Let me tell you this. C.J. Stroud, if
- 8:12Speaker 1: he was watching the game, was like, how come ain't
- 8:14Speaker 1: nobody talking about putting him on the bench? Like, when
- 8:17Speaker 1: we watched C.J. Stroud be this bad, all of us
- 8:21Speaker 1: were like, hey, why don't you boys go to Davis Mills?
- 8:26Speaker 1: Drake May was that level of bad.
- 8:28Speaker 3: Right.
- 8:28Speaker 1: Now, do I think you go to, who is their backup?
- 8:32Speaker 4: Do we know?
- 8:34Speaker 3: I do not know.
- 8:35Speaker 1: Let's go ahead and find out.
- 8:36Speaker 3: Let's find out who the backup quarterback for the Patriots is.
- 8:39Speaker 1: It could be anybody. Brian Hoyer, though, he feels like
- 8:42Speaker 1: he's on the board.
- 8:43Speaker 3: Oh, Josh Dobbs or Tommy DeVito.
- 8:46Speaker 1: Oh, I got to say, man, Josh Dobbs might have
- 8:50Speaker 1: done better for you.
- 8:51Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 8:52Speaker 1: Like, Josh Dobbs is the kind of backup you get
- 8:55Speaker 1: specifically for this.
- 8:56Speaker 3: Yes.
- 8:57Speaker 1: Specifically, like... He, he is not, here's what Josh Dobbs is.
- 9:01Speaker 1: Josh Dobbs is a backup who can start a game
- 9:04Speaker 1: for you.
- 9:07Speaker 4: Right.
- 9:08Speaker 1: But I mean, again, we knew that that was not
- 9:10Speaker 1: going to be yet, but that's really all there is
- 9:13Speaker 1: football wise to talk about from this game. Like I
- 9:16Speaker 1: know that Seattle defense is really good, but that didn't,
- 9:19Speaker 1: I did not feel like this did not feel like
- 9:23Speaker 1: that was what I was watching.
- 9:24Speaker 3: Right.
- 9:24Speaker 1: So if you want to talk about some of these
- 9:26Speaker 1: stats we've seen with like the The EPA numbers, like
- 9:30Speaker 1: the 10 worst Super Bowls, and Drake May is on
- 9:34Speaker 1: that list also, right? Oh, yes, here we go. Drake
- 9:37Speaker 1: May had the sixth lowest EPA per drop back in
- 9:39Speaker 1: a Super Bowl since 2000. Now, Peyton Manning is on
- 9:44Speaker 1: this list twice, just so we're clear. and only one
- 9:47Speaker 1: of them is 2015. I mean, obviously, but you know
- 9:50Speaker 1: what I mean. Patrick Mahomes is on this list twice.
- 9:53Speaker 1: Ben Roethlisberger is on this list. I mean, I'm saying
- 9:56Speaker 1: that to say there's some really good quarterbacks who are
- 10:01Speaker 1: on this list so this doesn't mean that Drake May
- 10:03Speaker 1: is doomed to be terrible forever because he's on this
- 10:06Speaker 1: list okay however let me tell you who else is
- 10:11Speaker 1: on this list That Kerry Collins game in 2000 against
- 10:15Speaker 1: the best defense we've ever seen. The Rich Gannon game
- 10:19Speaker 1: against the Bucs where John Gruden and them knew all
- 10:22Speaker 1: their hand signals. Rex Grossman in the rain. That first
- 10:29Speaker 1: Ben Roethlisberger Super Bowl where he completed some ridiculously low
- 10:34Speaker 1: number of passes. The Jerry Goff game that I went
- 10:38Speaker 1: to against the Patriots. Oh, my God, that was the
- 10:42Speaker 1: most boring football game I'd ever been to. And the
- 10:45Speaker 1: Patrick Mahomes game, that it looked like they were playing
- 10:48Speaker 1: against 13 people. And I still contend maybe the best
- 10:51Speaker 1: individual performance by a quarterback maybe I've ever seen.
- 10:54Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, if you combine it through the whole postseason,
- 10:57Speaker 3: four games, completed 57% of his passes, six touchdowns, took
- 11:02Speaker 3: 21 sacks for 81 ratings.
- 11:05Speaker 1: Oh, and by the way, right fast, on that Super Bowl,
- 11:07Speaker 1: also on the list, last year, Patrick Mahomes, which also
- 11:10Speaker 1: looked like they were playing against 13 people, but was not,
- 11:13Speaker 1: I repeat, not the best performance that I have ever seen. Like,
- 11:19Speaker 1: against the Buccaneers, he looked like a magician. Against the Eagles,
- 11:24Speaker 1: he looked like he was getting sawed in half. Like,
- 11:28Speaker 1: oh my God, but that's, that was what we watched.
- 11:32Speaker 1: That was it. I also have to say this, too,
- 11:35Speaker 1: about the game. I've never felt that the NFL concussion
- 11:38Speaker 1: protocol had more integrity than it did in that Super
- 11:42Speaker 1: Bowl when they took Jackson Smith and Jigba to the
- 11:45Speaker 1: back to go check out his concussion. Because I thought
- 11:48Speaker 1: they would have been in there like, I'm holding up
- 11:51Speaker 1: two fingers, right? Right? Okay. Let's go.
- 11:56Speaker 3: Let's get out of that blue tent. Yeah, they didn't
- 11:57Speaker 3: even take him to the blue tent. They took him
- 11:59Speaker 3: all the way to the back.
- 12:00Speaker 1: Let's get him back out here. Let's get him back
- 12:01Speaker 1: out here. Also, the Seahawks were good for business. We
- 12:04Speaker 1: will still be able to have discussions about Sam Darnold
- 12:07Speaker 1: next year because not good. He was not good.
- 12:12Speaker 3: I mean, the first three quarters of that game looked
- 12:14Speaker 3: like a game played by two coaches who do not
- 12:17Speaker 3: trust their quarterbacks.
- 12:18Speaker 1: Yes, and two quarterbacks who should not be trusted. Like,
- 12:22Speaker 1: it's not like they did anything to make it seem
- 12:24Speaker 1: like anything. Like, they were punts and draws and stuff
- 12:29Speaker 1: where you were just like, oh.
- 12:30Speaker 3: They were running on third and nine, third and seven.
- 12:33Speaker 1: Yeah, was it you that was like, yo, the Patriots
- 12:36Speaker 1: are calling the game like it's the snow.
- 12:38Speaker 3: Yeah, I said that. What I talked to you about
- 12:40Speaker 3: was at the end of the first half. Yeah. When
- 12:43Speaker 3: they didn't take timeouts to try to get the ball back.
- 12:46Speaker 1: No, no. Like, they would have gotten the ball back
- 12:50Speaker 1: and then they would have gotten the ball back to
- 12:51Speaker 1: start the half.
- 12:52Speaker 3: Which is, you know, the whole Patriots, Vrabel, Bill Belichick,
- 12:56Speaker 3: you know, trying to double up right there.
- 12:58Speaker 1: Yeah, and they're like, nah, nah, let's just go to
- 13:01Speaker 1: the back and let's just talk it out. Rabel must
- 13:04Speaker 1: be doing some therapy because he was so positive with
- 13:06Speaker 1: Drake May. And I'm just like, there's no way to
- 13:10Speaker 1: say really how you feel. You play defense.
- 13:12Speaker 3: Right.
- 13:13Speaker 1: Like, that Patriots defense, boy, it's going to be a
- 13:15Speaker 1: long offseason for them boys. And by the way, this
- 13:19Speaker 1: is after Drake May was the, like, damn near MVP.
- 13:23Speaker 3: I mean, he was one guy going rogue for maybe
- 13:27Speaker 3: winning it.
- 13:28Speaker 1: But the moment Just a little bit too big. It
- 13:32Speaker 1: was a little bit too big for Super Bowl champion
- 13:37Speaker 1: Sam Darnold. Let me tell you something for you, Sam Darnold.
- 13:41Speaker 1: This ain't going to get you in the Hall of Fame.
- 13:43Speaker 1: It might get you some more money. But let me
- 13:46Speaker 1: tell you what is definitely going to be able to
- 13:48Speaker 1: get you, if you play it right, a job as
- 13:52Speaker 1: a television broadcaster. That job is now, wait, don't mess
- 13:57Speaker 1: around and get another. And he can. Clearly, he plays
- 14:00Speaker 1: for a team that can overcome a quarterback.
- 14:02Speaker 3: I mean, he's not only a Super Bowl champion quarterback.
- 14:05Speaker 3: He is a USC graduate quarterback.
- 14:08Speaker 4: Oh, yeah.
- 14:09Speaker 3: Talk about someone who's going to get a media job.
- 14:11Speaker 1: Fox is ready for you, brother. Yeah, come on down.
- 14:15Speaker 1: But think about this. This is perhaps, again, the Seattle
- 14:18Speaker 1: defense has been excellent all year long. They played well,
- 14:22Speaker 1: but I did not feel like I was watching the
- 14:24Speaker 1: 2000 Ravens in that game. However, what this defense has
- 14:28Speaker 1: proven itself to be, and this is a short list,
- 14:31Speaker 1: defense is good enough to overcome a quarterback. Because in
- 14:36Speaker 1: many ways in this game, they overcame the quarterback that
- 14:41Speaker 1: they had. Like when you think in your mind how
- 14:43Speaker 1: many of those defenses truly exist, there really aren't that
- 14:47Speaker 1: many of them, right? Like that's 85 Bears. That's 2,000 Ravens.
- 14:52Speaker 1: That's 2015 Broncos. Where you're like, who played quarterback for them?
- 14:56Speaker 1: Not just who played quarterback for them. Who played quarterback
- 14:58Speaker 1: for them? And how did that quarterback play? Oh, wow.
- 15:01Speaker 1: He was cheeks also? Ooh. Like the 0-2? The O2
- 15:05Speaker 1: Buccaneers with Brad Johnson. The 2001 Patriots with Tom Brady, who's,
- 15:13Speaker 1: by the way, whose name comes up on that bad
- 15:17Speaker 1: run of playoff starters. Tom Brady's there. Like, in fact,
- 15:22Speaker 1: that's what this list really is in a lot of ways. Like,
- 15:24Speaker 1: Drake Mays there. The Peyton Manning 2015. The Rex Grossman 2006.
- 15:29Speaker 1: They didn't win it, but it's like, oh, we are
- 15:31Speaker 1: overcoming you. 2000 Ravens. Tom Brady in 01. I feel
- 15:38Speaker 1: like Shanahan overcame Garoppolo in 2021.
- 15:40Speaker 3: Yes.
- 15:41Speaker 1: But overcame, Jimmy Garoppolo's been the quarterback in two Super Bowls.
- 15:44Speaker 4: You know that?
- 15:45Speaker 3: Yeah. It's wild.
- 15:47Speaker 1: You know, I mean, maybe all that money people spent
- 15:50Speaker 1: on quarterbacks, y'all getting it wrong. Maybe this isn't it.
- 15:54Speaker 1: But you know what the thing is? Even Sam Darnold
- 15:57Speaker 1: costs a bunch of money. Like, it's not like he's
- 16:00Speaker 1: out there playing for 875 an hour.
- 16:02Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, he's what, I think $ 30 million or so.
- 16:05Speaker 1: Yeah, but hey, man, they've got a team good enough
- 16:09Speaker 1: to win it on defense. They did it this year.
- 16:12Speaker 1: This is, I don't know how sustainable it is, but
- 16:16Speaker 1: that is, wow. Props to us for coming up with
- 16:20Speaker 1: 15 minutes to say about that dog shit game. All right, Ryan,
- 16:30Speaker 1: now it is our opportunity to talk about peripheral stuff.
- 16:33Speaker 3: Yes.
- 16:34Speaker 1: Now, I want to say this right fast. I feel
- 16:37Speaker 1: bad for Michelle Tafoya. For those of you unfamiliar with
- 16:41Speaker 1: Michelle Tafoya, she used to work sidelines. I think she
- 16:45Speaker 1: worked for ESPN. She worked for NBC.
- 16:47Speaker 3: Yeah, she was on Sunday Night Football for a long time.
- 16:50Speaker 1: And now she is running for the Senate as a Republican.
- 16:55Speaker 1: in Minnesota, right? Like, she took similar steps to where
- 17:00Speaker 1: Sage Steele was going. Maybe she just got more ambition
- 17:03Speaker 1: because she actually out here trying to do something. Sage
- 17:05Speaker 1: is out here trying to be on camera talking wild.
- 17:07Speaker 3: I mean, Michelle is also a shitty Republican podcaster. Yeah,
- 17:12Speaker 3: that is true. Maybe she's trying to fail up.
- 17:14Speaker 1: You know what? You're absolutely right. Sage is just better
- 17:16Speaker 1: at being heard.
- 17:17Speaker 3: Correct, yes.
- 17:17Speaker 1: Because I completely forgot that Tafoya was out here doing
- 17:20Speaker 1: this stuff. But anyway... I don't know who they talked
- 17:23Speaker 1: to and, like, who really tested this idea that, like,
- 17:28Speaker 1: bagging on the Bad Bunny Super Bowl was the way
- 17:30Speaker 1: to go. But she sent a tweet that said, during
- 17:33Speaker 1: halftime tonight, I'm going to do something I've never done before,
- 17:37Speaker 1: fold laundry. To which Trey Wingo said, it's amazing you
- 17:41Speaker 1: made it this far without ever folding laundry. And look,
- 17:47Speaker 1: I don't think Trey Wingo is so pinko commie, you know?
- 17:50Speaker 1: I know Trey. He's Hal the third. I'm just telling you.
- 17:55Speaker 1: That ain't really how he sees it. What I found
- 17:57Speaker 1: so funny about that was how insulted must you be
- 18:01Speaker 1: if you are Kid Rock?
- 18:03Speaker 3: Yeah, you couldn't pull up the live YouTube stream, couldn't
- 18:05Speaker 3: change the channel?
- 18:06Speaker 1: You put in all this work. I saw some clip
- 18:10Speaker 1: from that Kid Rock show, and it was some country
- 18:12Speaker 1: motherfucker rapping. like it was, it was country rapping and
- 18:16Speaker 1: he wasn't like, he wasn't a bad rapper technically per se,
- 18:20Speaker 1: but I was like, what are you, what are we
- 18:21Speaker 1: doing over there? I also saw a clip. I couldn't
- 18:23Speaker 1: tell if it was real, but Keira Rod got mad
- 18:24Speaker 1: because people weren't clapping and rapping along with him. So
- 18:27Speaker 1: he walked off the stage.
- 18:29Speaker 3: I have to admit, I did not see any of
- 18:32Speaker 3: the Kid Rock show. I consider myself a bit of
- 18:35Speaker 3: an expert in the culture wars and, you know, being
- 18:39Speaker 3: on the internet for the last 10 years. And, One
- 18:42Speaker 3: thing you have to learn about the culture wars is
- 18:44Speaker 3: you have to know when the other side is fighting seriously. Yes.
- 18:47Speaker 3: And if they're bringing up Kid Rock against the most
- 18:52Speaker 3: popular artist on Spotify... They're not taking this for real.
- 18:56Speaker 1: No, but their problem is they're really bad at booking, right?
- 19:00Speaker 1: They just can't really. Like, they got the Country Music
- 19:04Speaker 1: Association Awards or Academy, you know, CMAs, Country Music Awards.
- 19:08Speaker 1: That's what they got.
- 19:09Speaker 3: They went out and got Zach Bryan. They went out
- 19:11Speaker 3: and got Kenny Chesney. Then they're taking this seriously.
- 19:14Speaker 1: I'm just saying, like, the CMA does the same thing
- 19:18Speaker 1: and they get the job done. They can't really dial
- 19:19Speaker 1: it up twice.
- 19:21Speaker 3: Right.
- 19:21Speaker 1: You understand what I'm saying?
- 19:22Speaker 3: They went out and got Garth Brooks.
- 19:23Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah. But the CMA speaks their language, right?
- 19:28Speaker 1: They used to tell Obama jokes and stuff like that.
- 19:30Speaker 1: It was their thing. But anyway, the thing I do
- 19:37Speaker 1: want to say, and I do think it's important to
- 19:39Speaker 1: discuss this in talking about, look, I have felt that
- 19:44Speaker 1: the whole Bad Bunny pushback has largely been an internet contrivance, right?
- 19:49Speaker 1: And that people who live on the internet, it was
- 19:52Speaker 1: a super big thing and it was an easy thing
- 19:54Speaker 1: to go to. I don't know how many people in
- 19:56Speaker 1: the streets were really that invested in caring.
- 20:00Speaker 3: I've never met anyone in my life who was anti-Bad Bunny.
- 20:02Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 20:02Speaker 1: I mean, maybe. It's never come up. But my point
- 20:06Speaker 1: is not whether or not they're anti-Bad Bunny. It's whether
- 20:08Speaker 1: they care that much about the fact that Bad Bunny's
- 20:09Speaker 1: playing the Super Bowl.
- 20:10Speaker 3: Got it, yes.
- 20:11Speaker 1: I don't have an answer for how many of them
- 20:13Speaker 1: there are. I do think, though, that it's worth pointing
- 20:16Speaker 1: out that Everybody gets a little iffy when they don't
- 20:21Speaker 1: speak the language. Whatever the language is that is put
- 20:24Speaker 1: before them. Like when you start talking to people who
- 20:26Speaker 1: don't speak the language, the worst comes out of people
- 20:29Speaker 1: in those moments, right? Like this is no matter who
- 20:31Speaker 1: you are, no matter what it is, once it gets
- 20:33Speaker 1: to a place where you're in a place where you
- 20:34Speaker 1: don't speak the language, how you feel about going to
- 20:37Speaker 1: countries where you don't speak the language, anything else. Language,
- 20:40Speaker 1: when people don't understand it, makes them very, very insecure.
- 20:44Speaker 1: And we generally acknowledge that language is a significant part
- 20:51Speaker 1: of culture. Like one of the things, really, no matter
- 20:55Speaker 1: the country that you're in, if you immigrate to that country,
- 20:59Speaker 1: one thing they want to know is whether you've taken
- 21:02Speaker 1: steps to learn the language of the place where you are.
- 21:05Speaker 1: If I learned anything when I was in Miami, It
- 21:09Speaker 1: is that language is the great segregator above all else.
- 21:15Speaker 1: That is the number one is language, right? So the
- 21:20Speaker 1: idea that people are a little iffy about an act
- 21:25Speaker 1: that is going to speak entirely a language that they
- 21:28Speaker 1: don't speak, I understand that on its face. The idea
- 21:34Speaker 1: that people are like, huh, don't you think it's a
- 21:36Speaker 1: little weird that it's America and the Halftime Act doesn't
- 21:40Speaker 1: speak English? I understand why somebody might feel that way.
- 21:48Speaker 1: The idea that anybody really cares or like get super
- 21:52Speaker 1: mad about that, you're not going to convince me that's
- 21:57Speaker 1: like very, very real. Like, especially not to the point
- 22:02Speaker 1: of going to watch no fucking kid rock, right? But
- 22:07Speaker 1: it's a perfect line to draw if what you're saying
- 22:10Speaker 1: is we're losing the country, bro. You know what I mean? Like,
- 22:13Speaker 1: if that's your whole game and that's your whole hustle
- 22:16Speaker 1: is we're losing the country, bro, then yeah, this is
- 22:19Speaker 1: going to be the thing that you're going to try
- 22:21Speaker 1: to argue. I get you. On the other hand, people
- 22:26Speaker 1: are lazy. It wasn't like it was on a channel.
- 22:32Speaker 1: You was going to have to go find it somewhere, right?
- 22:35Speaker 3: I would say the overlap of people who wanted to
- 22:39Speaker 3: turn on the Kid Rock concert but needed their kids
- 22:42Speaker 3: to do it for them.
- 22:43Speaker 1: Yo, that's exactly what I was about to say. Like,
- 22:45Speaker 1: these are old people by and large. And by the way,
- 22:48Speaker 1: old people who are going to go get an American badass, right? Like,
- 22:53Speaker 1: it's not even their kind of music. It's not even
- 22:55Speaker 1: their kind of life.
- 22:56Speaker 3: The Venn diagram of people who are trying to protest
- 23:00Speaker 3: this halftime show. People who love Kid Rock. and people
- 23:04Speaker 3: who can successfully navigate a smart TV.
- 23:07Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, figure out like, is your AirPlay working? Is
- 23:11Speaker 1: your Chromecast connecting right now? It might not be. There's
- 23:15Speaker 1: no guarantee that this is a website that is capable
- 23:18Speaker 1: of handling all this traffic.
- 23:20Speaker 3: You also have to take a break to realize that
- 23:23Speaker 3: like there's also going to be a 90 second rant
- 23:26Speaker 3: about streaming and how everything was better when there was
- 23:28Speaker 3: only three channels.
- 23:30Speaker 6: Yeah, like you gotta go through all of this No, man, people,
- 23:34Speaker 6: you're just not gonna, how many people were actually gonna
- 23:37Speaker 6: do that or were just gonna be like, all.
- 23:39Speaker 1: Right, well, this shit's on. You know, I guess I'll
- 23:42Speaker 1: go ahead and watch it. Maybe I'll use the bathroom.
- 23:44Speaker 1: I have no idea. You're never going to convince me
- 23:47Speaker 1: that there were that many people that were this mad
- 23:49Speaker 1: about this, right? That the idea of Bad Bunny, that
- 23:53Speaker 1: they were going to go through all these steps. He's like,
- 23:55Speaker 1: I'm going to fold laundry. You can do that and
- 23:58Speaker 1: watch TV at the same time. Shit, you think you're
- 24:01Speaker 1: the only person that folded laundry during the Super Bowl? Like,
- 24:04Speaker 1: this isn't that hard.
- 24:05Speaker 3: I folded laundry during the Super Bowl.
- 24:07Speaker 1: Yeah, this isn't that, like, if that's what you're going
- 24:09Speaker 1: to do, This isn't that hard. It just like this
- 24:13Speaker 1: being your personality or this being your thing is the
- 24:16Speaker 1: internet completely breaking our brains. That is, that, that is,
- 24:20Speaker 1: that is the only way that I could receive this.
- 24:24Speaker 4: Right.
- 24:25Speaker 3: I also love the idea that bad bunny is some
- 24:28Speaker 3: messenger of the left, you know, but, but I mean,
- 24:33Speaker 3: this is also bad bunny who is, you know, wrestled
- 24:37Speaker 3: in the WWE. Yes. And, uh, been in Adam Sandler movies.
- 24:42Speaker 1: Well, here's what he also is. Somebody, everybody knows who
- 24:45Speaker 1: he is.
- 24:45Speaker 3: Correct.
- 24:46Speaker 1: Like, like you couldn't position him as this, some like
- 24:48Speaker 1: outsider that they, you know, no, no, no, no, no.
- 24:50Speaker 1: This is a very famous, well-known man. Like this is,
- 24:55Speaker 1: this is, this is who he is. And Oh, by
- 24:58Speaker 1: the way, you rock that.
- 25:01Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 25:02Speaker 1: Look, you know, I talk a lot about taking the
- 25:04Speaker 1: Spanish lessons and stuff like that. For whatever reason, I
- 25:08Speaker 1: struggle still to pick up like understanding Spanish and songs,
- 25:11Speaker 1: especially that brand of Caribbean Spanish. I do not understand it.
- 25:14Speaker 1: So like I'm not listening to it and like know
- 25:17Speaker 1: the words or everything else. But I know what I
- 25:19Speaker 1: know was jamming when it's jamming. I mean, come on, man.
- 25:23Speaker 1: We used to listen to the Bone Thugs. You ain't
- 25:24Speaker 1: got to understand everything to know what's going on here. Brother,
- 25:28Speaker 1: that show was jamming. from top to bottom. And I'm
- 25:34Speaker 1: going to tell you this too, even if them cats
- 25:36Speaker 1: is like, they don't like Spanish, let me tell you
- 25:38Speaker 1: what is a crowd pleaser that everybody seems to like.
- 25:42Speaker 1: Spanish girls. And it was lots of them. Yeah, Jessica Alba,
- 25:48Speaker 1: even the ones I don't, the ones I ain't know
- 25:50Speaker 1: the name of was doing just fine. And you know
- 25:54Speaker 1: what they look like and what made the show so
- 25:55Speaker 1: dope and why it's kind of so wild? And I'll
- 25:58Speaker 1: just go ahead and put this out there. Why this was,
- 26:01Speaker 1: to me, a significant improvement over last year's show. It wasn't.
- 26:06Speaker 1: I'm sure there were things to think about. There were
- 26:08Speaker 1: messages to be offered, whatever it is. But what it
- 26:11Speaker 1: really was, was a big old good ass tie. That's
- 26:15Speaker 1: what it was. It was a party. Everybody involved in
- 26:19Speaker 1: that looked like they were having so much fun. I'm
- 26:21Speaker 1: not Puerto Rican, obviously, but I can only imagine if
- 26:24Speaker 1: I was. He was putting on for the squad. He
- 26:26Speaker 1: put on for a whole nation. Ran through all the countries,
- 26:29Speaker 1: even through Haiti in there, because he ain't stupid. There
- 26:33Speaker 1: was a message to the show, certainly. I don't know
- 26:36Speaker 1: what it was entirely, though, because I don't speak Spanish.
- 26:39Speaker 1: I ain't need to speak Spanish. Ain't They played the
- 26:43Speaker 1: Nueva York joint. That's an old Puerto Rican joint. Check
- 26:46Speaker 1: that one. That was jamming. Brought Ricky Martin back out there.
- 26:50Speaker 1: Didn't let him sing no vida loca or nothing like that.
- 26:53Speaker 1: That was what was up for whatever reason. I understood
- 26:55Speaker 1: his Spanish better than I understood Bad Bunnies. They was
- 26:58Speaker 1: looking out for some of y'all. You know who I'm
- 27:01Speaker 1: talking about, y'all. They had Lady Gaga come out there.
- 27:04Speaker 3: Lady just won. Just one olive branch, and they gave
- 27:08Speaker 3: it to us.
- 27:09Speaker 1: But, man, that was a great show. Anybody who was
- 27:13Speaker 1: coming out of it bragging about how they didn't check
- 27:16Speaker 1: it out, you lost. You lost. Let me tell you something.
- 27:21Speaker 1: Maybe the rest of the Super Bowl would have been
- 27:23Speaker 1: better if it was in Spanish. How about that?
- 27:26Speaker 3: Right?
- 27:26Speaker 1: Because the show was definitely better than the Super Bowl.
- 27:30Speaker 1: The show was better than them commercials, too. Like, is
- 27:34Speaker 1: that even a thing anymore? I also feel like because
- 27:37Speaker 1: so many of the commercials come out in advance, like
- 27:40Speaker 1: the 50 Cent What About Beef? I thought that was
- 27:42Speaker 1: pretty good, but it had been out for days.
- 27:44Speaker 3: Yeah, now it's like a two-week marketing campaign leading up
- 27:49Speaker 3: to the Super Bowl. Yes. So part of it is
- 27:54Speaker 3: we're not all getting the joke at the same time.
- 27:56Speaker 4: Correct.
- 27:57Speaker 3: So I think that cuts out a lot of the humor.
- 27:59Speaker 3: It's like if one-third of the people involved know the punchline. Yes.
- 28:05Speaker 3: But it also is just like a way to shove
- 28:08Speaker 3: old people into getting some money. It is.
- 28:11Speaker 1: Now, I want to point out a couple of things
- 28:13Speaker 1: that I noticed in the commercials. Number one, crypto back.
- 28:17Speaker 3: Looks like it.
- 28:20Speaker 1: Crypto back. Okay.
- 28:21Speaker 3: People trying to buy the dip.
- 28:23Speaker 1: Which keeps dipping. Yeah, but I guess they bought these
- 28:25Speaker 1: ads a long time ago. Like, did they know? Coinbase
- 28:29Speaker 1: is back. And speaking of Coinbase, not one, but two
- 28:32Speaker 1: Backstreet Boys commercials and We couldn't leave that back in 1999.
- 28:45Speaker 1: Tell me why. You know what I'm saying? We had
- 28:48Speaker 1: two Backstreet Boys commercials. I wanted to change my sale
- 28:51Speaker 1: of telephone provider after I saw that. I saw somebody,
- 28:54Speaker 1: I think it may have been the boy Kaz who
- 28:56Speaker 1: raised the question about... Like, is Justin Timberlake just a
- 28:59Speaker 1: bad friend?
- 29:00Speaker 3: Yeah, so is Cass.
- 29:01Speaker 1: Like, all the Backstreet Boys, they still get together. Justin
- 29:05Speaker 1: Timberlake is like, Joey who? I don't know any of
- 29:08Speaker 1: these people.
- 29:08Speaker 3: To be fair, the Backstreet Boys need to be a collective.
- 29:11Speaker 1: That is very true. That's interesting. Nobody broke out.
- 29:14Speaker 4: You're right.
- 29:14Speaker 3: Justin Timberlake is like, I got to feed four more families.
- 29:18Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 29:19Speaker 1: Good point um so we got yeah we got two
- 29:21Speaker 1: backstreet boys commercials um that dunkin donuts commercial with all
- 29:25Speaker 1: the people from the sitcoms did not make a dollop
- 29:28Speaker 1: of sense they must have been paying big money too
- 29:31Speaker 1: because they got urkel to put back on the urkel
- 29:33Speaker 1: suit and you know he ain't really about that at
- 29:35Speaker 1: all yeah he they they they got him out there
- 29:39Speaker 1: um did you see the liquid IV commercial about looking
- 29:45Speaker 1: at your pee?
- 29:47Speaker 3: I heard about it, I did not see it.
- 29:50Speaker 1: So I'm trying to remember what song it was based on,
- 29:53Speaker 1: but it was like some look at me type thing
- 29:55Speaker 1: or whatever. And it was all about look at what
- 29:57Speaker 1: color your urine is because maybe you need to take
- 30:00Speaker 1: liquid IV. And I'm here to tell you guys, or
- 30:03Speaker 1: maybe you need to drink some water. Like we used
- 30:08Speaker 1: to do ads for liquid IV here. Okay. So one
- 30:11Speaker 1: thing that was interesting about that, I have no problem
- 30:12Speaker 1: saying this. I don't think this violates anything. They were
- 30:14Speaker 1: really big on don't use the word hangover because they
- 30:18Speaker 1: know what time it is. Okay. Use the word water.
- 30:23Speaker 1: You can just drink water if that is your solution.
- 30:26Speaker 1: Like if you're looking in the bowl and your piss
- 30:28Speaker 1: is too yellow and your thought is I need to
- 30:30Speaker 1: go buy something, you are a lost cause. Mike Tyson
- 30:34Speaker 1: did an advertisement for Make America Healthy Again where he
- 30:37Speaker 1: just talked about how fat one of his aunties was.
- 30:41Speaker 1: And then he's in there eating an apple. Did you
- 30:43Speaker 1: see that one?
- 30:44Speaker 3: I did, and I thought Mike Tyson is an interesting
- 30:48Speaker 3: spokesperson for health.
- 30:49Speaker 1: I just want to say that it's weird enough that
- 30:52Speaker 1: we allow Mike Tyson to be back.
- 30:55Speaker 3: All the way back.
- 30:56Speaker 1: Yeah, three people whose we let them back doesn't make
- 30:59Speaker 1: much sense in varying degrees for varying reasons. Well, Mike
- 31:02Speaker 1: Tyson kind of makes sense because he has attempted to atone.
- 31:07Speaker 1: He's taken a great deal of responsibility, and I think
- 31:09Speaker 1: largely people pity him. Number two is John Gruden, and
- 31:13Speaker 1: I said something on Twitter about this, and people were like,
- 31:15Speaker 1: you don't forgive. You don't forgive people who don't apologize, right?
- 31:19Speaker 1: He's never shown any level of contrition for it, which
- 31:21Speaker 1: is why letting him come back around and how many
- 31:24Speaker 1: of these football goons are like, ooh, John Gruden's so funny.
- 31:27Speaker 1: Fuck you. Number three is James Winston. He's just kind
- 31:33Speaker 1: of like, oh, he's so funny, and it's like, he.
- 31:40Speaker 1: We just let them back. But Mike Tyson, that was shocking.
- 31:43Speaker 1: How he got everybody to come around. I will have
- 31:48Speaker 1: to say, the commercial I thought was the most effective.
- 31:52Speaker 3: Okay?
- 31:56Speaker 1: Did you see the commercial with the tight ends in it?
- 31:59Speaker 3: I did not. Okay.
- 32:02Speaker 1: So if you have not seen this commercial, it is
- 32:05Speaker 1: a commercial with a bunch of tight ends in it.
- 32:08Speaker 1: It's got Tony Gonzalez. It's got George Kittle. It's got
- 32:13Speaker 1: Rob Gronkowski. It's got another one. And it's talking about
- 32:17Speaker 1: these guys being tight ends and it's not really easy
- 32:20Speaker 1: to understand what they're talking about. And like Gronk is
- 32:24Speaker 1: with a horse. I don't remember exactly why. And then
- 32:29Speaker 1: Bruce Arians, it turns out, is doing the voiceover. And
- 32:32Speaker 1: Bruce Arians is recommending to people that they go in
- 32:37Speaker 1: for their prostate screening And then he explains that you
- 32:42Speaker 1: can go do a finger prick test now for your
- 32:45Speaker 1: prostate screening. And then when he tells all the tight
- 32:49Speaker 1: ends that you can do the finger prick for your
- 32:52Speaker 1: prostate screening, they booties unclench. They ends get looser. You see?
- 33:02Speaker 3: Yes, I do.
- 33:03Speaker 1: You get it?
- 33:04Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 33:04Speaker 1: You get it? And I have to say, a man
- 33:08Speaker 1: of my age. Finding out that there's a finger prick
- 33:14Speaker 1: prostate exam is the best news I got all day.
- 33:17Speaker 3: It is definitely better than the alternative.
- 33:19Speaker 1: Yo, that's really it. That's up there with finding out
- 33:22Speaker 1: about the colonoscopy thing where you just boo-boo with a
- 33:26Speaker 1: cup and put it in the mail.
- 33:29Speaker 3: What?
- 33:30Speaker 1: Yeah, you've seen that commercial where the dude is like
- 33:33Speaker 1: talking about going out in the snow and he's like, actually,
- 33:35Speaker 1: I'm just going on the porch. And then he goes
- 33:37Speaker 1: and gets there.
- 33:38Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 33:39Speaker 1: So that's that's the that's the test to see if
- 33:41Speaker 1: you need a colonoscopy now.
- 33:43Speaker 3: That's you.
- 33:44Speaker 1: So you don't automatically have to go in for the colonoscopy. Now,
- 33:47Speaker 1: part of what's funny about that is I did that.
- 33:49Speaker 1: And then I went to the UPS store to send
- 33:51Speaker 1: it off. And so I'm at the UPS store, but
- 33:54Speaker 1: it didn't open until nine. And it's like eight forty five.
- 33:57Speaker 1: And there I am, 15 minutes just standing outside with
- 34:00Speaker 1: a box of dookie. You know, it felt a little weird,
- 34:04Speaker 1: but I got to say, that commercial was weird and
- 34:08Speaker 1: the whole booty unclenching thing was, you know, I guess,
- 34:12Speaker 1: but I now know and I will never forget. And
- 34:17Speaker 1: as soon as they try to get me, hey, what
- 34:20Speaker 1: about that finger prick test that Bruce Arians was talking about?
- 34:23Speaker 1: Like overwhelmingly on these drug commercials, I'm like, hey man,
- 34:26Speaker 1: I'm not, like, I shouldn't be asking you what drug
- 34:32Speaker 1: I should take. You understand what I'm saying?
- 34:34Speaker 4: Right.
- 34:35Speaker 1: Like, that's just not it. You should be telling me.
- 34:38Speaker 1: But now, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, why don't
- 34:41Speaker 1: you just poke me in the finger right fast and
- 34:42Speaker 1: then we work it out from there. Want to know
- 34:50Speaker 1: why betting the winter games on FanDuel makes sense? From

- 35:03Speaker 1: are on, and there's no better way to follow them
- 35:06Speaker 1: than with a bet on FanDuel. Curling matches that start
- 35:10Speaker 1: slow and somehow get tense fast. Speed skating decided by inches.
- 35:15Speaker 1: Hockey games that feel different from the opening face-off. And

- 36:16Speaker 1: Right fast, Ryan. I want to make a point. that
- 36:19Speaker 1: I meant to make earlier about Bad Bunny that I
- 36:21Speaker 1: think is most hilarious. Even if Bad Bunny was saying
- 36:26Speaker 1: super revolutionary stuff, you'd have no idea because it wasn't
- 36:31Speaker 1: in English. And apparently a lot of these people who
- 36:34Speaker 1: was so mad, they don't even speak English that good.
- 36:37Speaker 1: And I know that because you're worried that things got
- 36:41Speaker 1: too woke or whatever words you use because of Bad Bunny.
- 36:46Speaker 1: Green Day came out there and did songs from American Idiot,
- 36:50Speaker 1: which is, by the ways that people use the terms,
- 36:53Speaker 1: the wokest.
- 36:54Speaker 3: Yes.
- 36:55Speaker 1: That you could imagine. Like, it is entirely a reaction
- 36:59Speaker 1: to the set of circumstances that lead us to being here.
- 37:02Speaker 5: Yes.
- 37:03Speaker 1: They sang it dead in front of you, and you
- 37:05Speaker 1: were just... You were just right there with it.
- 37:13Speaker 3: Incredible stuff. All right, speaking of people who had an
- 37:16Speaker 3: interesting weekend, Giannis, NBA trade deadline came and went. Giannis
- 37:21Speaker 3: remained a buck. He then tweeted a famous meme from
- 37:26Speaker 3: the Wolf of Wall Street that he's not going anywhere.
- 37:28Speaker 3: He then came out as a sponsor for the prediction market. Kalshi, Bomani,
- 37:33Speaker 3: what did you make of Bomani? I'm sorry, Giannis' interesting week.
- 37:37Speaker 1: Well, once again, he is turning himself into Dwight Howard
- 37:40Speaker 1: in the worst way. He's just doing it all wrong.
- 37:42Speaker 1: Doesn't want to be the bad guy to anybody. And
- 37:46Speaker 1: people respect the bad guy more than they respect the
- 37:50Speaker 1: try to make everybody like you guy, right? We know
- 37:53Speaker 1: you tried to get traded. We know you're trying to
- 37:55Speaker 1: get out of there. Like, it's too many people saying this.
- 37:58Speaker 1: We know that you're trying to get out of there.
- 38:00Speaker 1: Pretending like you're not and that you stayed because you had, nah, man,
- 38:05Speaker 1: come on, dog. Like, stop doing this. You're making a
- 38:07Speaker 1: fool of yourself. Now, I do think, though, the Koushi
- 38:11Speaker 1: thing is going to be a beginning for a lot
- 38:13Speaker 1: of people.
- 38:15Speaker 5: Right.
- 38:16Speaker 1: And I think it is incredibly cynical. And again, get
- 38:18Speaker 1: us into like Internet contrivance world. Do I think that
- 38:21Speaker 1: Giannis started chatter about him being traded to generate business
- 38:26Speaker 1: for Kalshi or to make some sort of. No, that's stupid.
- 38:30Speaker 1: Like I just that that's a level of cynicism that
- 38:33Speaker 1: I can't get to.
- 38:35Speaker 4: Right.
- 38:35Speaker 1: And also. I don't fully understand how these things work,
- 38:38Speaker 1: but it feels like a huge federal crime.
- 38:42Speaker 3: Yes.
- 38:43Speaker 1: Right? Like, you're just whining about this. No, the feds
- 38:45Speaker 1: would be on this if that's happening.
- 38:47Speaker 3: That is getting dangerously close to things like insider trading. Yes.
- 38:51Speaker 1: I mean, it's the literal definition of. It's the fix.
- 38:54Speaker 1: You're shaving points.
- 38:56Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 38:57Speaker 1: More or less, right? I want to say this about Kaoshi, though.
- 39:01Speaker 1: And look, I'm pretty sure you guys just heard a
- 39:03Speaker 1: FanDuel ad just before this, okay?
- 39:06Speaker 7: So, you know.
- 39:08Speaker 1: Full disclosure. However, I saw a commercial for CalSheet that
- 39:14Speaker 1: was one of the most disturbing things that I have
- 39:16Speaker 1: ever seen. And it was the whole premise of it
- 39:18Speaker 1: was you can bet on anything. And I don't know
- 39:21Speaker 1: if you've seen this ad, but it says you can
- 39:22Speaker 1: bet on anything. What struck me about it was the
- 39:25Speaker 1: way that it was edited. It zoomed in on all
- 39:29Speaker 1: these different things, and then it started doing it really,
- 39:32Speaker 1: really fast when it was doing it. Oh, you can
- 39:34Speaker 1: bet on this. Oh, you can bet on that. Oh,
- 39:35Speaker 1: you can bet on this. Oh, you can bet on that.
- 39:36Speaker 1: It felt very much like the end of Goodfellas, where
- 39:39Speaker 1: as Henry Hill descends more and more into cocaine addiction,
- 39:43Speaker 1: the paranoia It's throwing in the anxiety, like everything in
- 39:46Speaker 1: the production. And it felt like everything in the production
- 39:49Speaker 1: of that commercial was buying into the anxiety of being
- 39:52Speaker 1: addicted to gambling and needing something to bet on, right?
- 39:56Speaker 1: It's not simply like, hey, you know, there are thousands
- 39:59Speaker 1: of things that you could bet on if you happen
- 40:01Speaker 1: to just want to have a good time. It was like, hey,
- 40:03Speaker 1: you could bet on this.
- 40:03Speaker 3: Hey, you could bet on this.
- 40:04Speaker 4: Hey, you could bet on this.
- 40:05Speaker 1: Everything around you is something to bet on. And if
- 40:07Speaker 1: I was a person that was legitimately addicted to gambling,
- 40:10Speaker 1: I can only imagine what it felt like in watching
- 40:13Speaker 1: that ad, like sports, at least sports gambling in its,
- 40:18Speaker 1: in its cell. And look, it's, it's, there's a lot
- 40:20Speaker 1: of problems that come down with it, but at least
- 40:22Speaker 1: in the cell of sports gambling, there is in fact sports, right?
- 40:25Speaker 1: It's just like, Hey, we're just making this little thing better. Right. Cal,
- 40:28Speaker 1: she is like the world is a casino, right? Bill Maher.
- 40:34Speaker 1: Did you see Bill Maher's monologue on gambling? Uh, it
- 40:37Speaker 1: was interesting last week. Did you happen to see it?
- 40:39Speaker 1: And like, I know, so, I have my issues with
- 40:42Speaker 1: Mara like everybody has their issues with Mara. But I
- 40:44Speaker 1: will say after having done that job for a couple
- 40:46Speaker 1: of seasons, those essays are really well written and really
- 40:49Speaker 1: good whether you agree with them or not. But he
- 40:50Speaker 1: made a very interesting point about what all this gambling
- 40:52Speaker 1: says about America. And he was like, hey, man, there's
- 40:55Speaker 1: a reason that all the like kung fu movies and
- 40:57Speaker 1: stuff like that run through somebody gambling and that the
- 40:59Speaker 1: casinos are like they are in Macau and these places
- 41:02Speaker 1: in China. And he's like, because they ain't really got
- 41:04Speaker 1: no hope.
- 41:07Speaker 4: Right.
- 41:07Speaker 1: Like your chance to hit it big is going to
- 41:09Speaker 1: be in a casino. Because how else are you really
- 41:11Speaker 1: going to do it? That's where we are now, right?
- 41:15Speaker 1: Like your only chance to get it is to scam it, basically.
- 41:20Speaker 1: And gambling is a scam, but it ain't earning, you know?
- 41:27Speaker 1: That's where we are. And Giannis put his face on it.
- 41:29Speaker 1: The guy who went and got it like nobody else,
- 41:32Speaker 1: like few have ever gone and got it. Telling you
- 41:35Speaker 1: to try to, you know, hustle it real fast if
- 41:38Speaker 1: you can.
- 41:40Speaker 3: All right, moving back on the college basketball. UNC Duke
- 41:43Speaker 3: was this past weekend. UNC beats Duke on a buzzer beater.
- 41:47Speaker 3: They stormed the courts. Duke coach John Shire was not happy,
- 41:52Speaker 3: saying that, quote, he had staff members get punched in
- 41:55Speaker 3: the face by North Carolina fans storming the court after
- 41:59Speaker 3: a late game shot. For me, it's hard to talk about.
- 42:02Speaker 3: the game where I was most connected to just for
- 42:04Speaker 3: the safety of our players after the game. I don't
- 42:06Speaker 3: want to make it about that because Carolina, they played
- 42:08Speaker 3: a great game to win. That's a heartbreaking loss for
- 42:10Speaker 3: our team. I got stab minors that got punched in
- 42:13Speaker 3: the face. Bo, what was your reaction to this?
- 42:16Speaker 1: Number one, court storming needs to be banned. Like it is,
- 42:19Speaker 1: I mean.
- 42:20Speaker 3: It is 100% my biggest old guy change.
- 42:22Speaker 1: Yeah, it's like, yeah, maybe I'm just getting older, right?
- 42:26Speaker 3: Court storming is an obviously terrible idea because no one
- 42:30Speaker 3: can act right.
- 42:31Speaker 1: It's ridiculous.
- 42:32Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 42:33Speaker 1: Like when you think about what the very idea, think
- 42:35Speaker 1: about this. We have security here for the whole rest
- 42:39Speaker 1: of the time. The only time that we're saying we
- 42:43Speaker 1: don't need security is at the most volatile moment. in
- 42:48Speaker 1: the game and this is the part that people talk
- 42:49Speaker 1: about with court storm and I don't think we talk
- 42:51Speaker 1: nearly enough about because we only associate court storming with
- 42:54Speaker 1: something amazingly good has happened and these people are storming
- 42:57Speaker 1: the court to celebrate one day they gonna get their
- 43:00Speaker 1: asses out there and it goes the other direction if
- 43:03Speaker 1: you didn't see in this game they stormed the court
- 43:05Speaker 1: after Seth Trimble hit the game winning three okay But
- 43:10Speaker 1: the game wasn't over. There were four tenths of a
- 43:12Speaker 1: second left. And so they had to get everybody back
- 43:16Speaker 1: off the court, okay? I need you to imagine that
- 43:20Speaker 1: that happens and they get everybody off the court and
- 43:23Speaker 1: then Duke makes the shot to win. And now they
- 43:28Speaker 1: run back out here again. You understand what I'm saying? Like,
- 43:31Speaker 1: this is... No, no, no, no, no. This is something
- 43:34Speaker 1: that should not be allowed in the idea of, hey, man,
- 43:38Speaker 1: this is white kids trying to have fun. And yes,
- 43:41Speaker 1: the white part is important. 10,000 black people start storming
- 43:45Speaker 1: the court. It's going to be an electric fence around
- 43:48Speaker 1: that motherfucker after a certain point.
- 43:49Speaker 3: You know what you don't see court storming? Professional events.
- 43:52Speaker 3: You don't? Because... They're still working when the game's over.
- 43:56Speaker 4: Right.
- 43:57Speaker 1: This is a terrible idea. That being said, when Shire
- 44:03Speaker 1: said that one of his coaches got hit, I was like,
- 44:07Speaker 1: before I develop an opinion on this matter, I need
- 44:11Speaker 1: to find out which one it was. It's Duke. It
- 44:17Speaker 1: might be somebody who deserved to get punched in the face.
- 44:21Speaker 1: They don't have, they're no longer in the era of
- 44:24Speaker 1: having like Wojo and Chris Collins on the bench, which
- 44:27Speaker 1: is assistants that I wish could get punched in the face.
- 44:30Speaker 1: Like if you told me that after the game, somebody
- 44:33Speaker 1: punched Steve Wojohowski in the face, my question is how
- 44:35Speaker 1: many times? And if they said once, I'm going to
- 44:38Speaker 1: be mad because there was a lot more work to do.
- 44:40Speaker 3: What's your followup? What's his, what's the guy's Venmo?
- 44:43Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 44:43Speaker 4: Yeah. Yeah.
- 44:44Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 44:45Speaker 1: Let's go. Go fund me. Does he need bail? Like what,
- 44:47Speaker 1: like what can I, what can I do to help
- 44:49Speaker 1: him out? Like what is his name? So I can
- 44:51Speaker 1: get it on the back of a Jersey. That's what
- 44:53Speaker 1: I would be doing. But I went through it. I
- 44:55Speaker 1: got care. Well, he all right with me. I don't
- 44:57Speaker 1: really got no problem with Tyler Thornton. I didn't know
- 44:59Speaker 1: nothing about the rest of the assistants. So it was
- 45:00Speaker 1: kind of like, yeah.
- 45:02Speaker 4: Okay.
- 45:02Speaker 1: And Shires never bothered me.
- 45:03Speaker 4: Right.
- 45:03Speaker 1: All right.
- 45:04Speaker 4: But yeah.
- 45:04Speaker 1: Um, The real moral of the story is it could
- 45:09Speaker 1: have been the best weekend, well, the second, the third
- 45:12Speaker 1: best weekend in the history of North Carolina sports. The
- 45:15Speaker 1: first one being when they beat Duke at Cabron in
- 45:18Speaker 1: Coach K's last home game. Yes. And then the second being...
- 45:22Speaker 1: or tied for first when they beat Coach K in
- 45:24Speaker 1: the Final Four to end his career, right? But if
- 45:27Speaker 1: they could have had a weekend where they beat Duke
- 45:30Speaker 1: on a last-minute shot in an upset, and then Drake May,
- 45:35Speaker 1: Luke May's brother, would have won the Super Bowl, it
- 45:38Speaker 1: would have been excellent, right? But instead, Drake May had
- 45:45Speaker 1: to play like, well, your friendly reminder that it is
- 45:48Speaker 1: still Carolina football now, isn't it?
- 45:51Speaker 3: All right, a bit of a weird story. Heading over
- 45:54Speaker 3: to the Winter Olympics.
- 45:56Speaker 1: Wider. The wider Olympics.
- 45:58Speaker 3: The wider Olympics.
- 46:00Speaker 1: Because of the snow.
- 46:01Speaker 3: Because of the snow. Some athletes are looking for an
- 46:05Speaker 3: interesting edge, and I'm just reading news here. Ski jumpers
- 46:08Speaker 3: are allegedly injecting their penises with hydrochloric acid in order
- 46:12Speaker 3: to fly just a little bit further. Bo, what was
- 46:16Speaker 3: your reaction when you saw this?
- 46:17Speaker 1: Okay, so I want to be clear. It's hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic, sorry.
- 46:23Speaker 1: But see, that's important. This leads to my discussion that
- 46:26Speaker 1: I had when I heard about it.
- 46:28Speaker 3: My brain filled in that word because that's an acid
- 46:31Speaker 3: I know.
- 46:31Speaker 1: Because look, look, look, look. If you were telling me
- 46:33Speaker 1: that they were shooting up hydrochloric acid.
- 46:35Speaker 3: That's on me.
- 46:36Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah. I feel like this story has much
- 46:39Speaker 1: different outcomes. I could be wrong, but. All right, so yeah,
- 46:42Speaker 1: so the idea behind this is that you shoot up
- 46:45Speaker 1: with the hyaluronic acid and it, is it kind of
- 46:49Speaker 1: like in the Botox family?
- 46:51Speaker 3: I believe so.
- 46:53Speaker 1: Yeah, and so like, I saw it in a commercial
- 46:56Speaker 1: yesterday for some like skin stuff. It reduces fine lines
- 46:59Speaker 1: and stuff like that. Like it makes things bigger. And
- 47:02Speaker 1: so the idea is that if in your ski suit,
- 47:07Speaker 1: there is some slack, then it makes it better for
- 47:11Speaker 1: ski jumping. This is an analog to tricks people do
- 47:17Speaker 1: to make weight in boxing. The idea is that you
- 47:21Speaker 1: get shot up with the hyaluronic acid and it makes
- 47:24Speaker 1: your joint get bigger and then you get fitted for
- 47:27Speaker 1: the suit under those circumstances and then the swelling goes
- 47:32Speaker 1: down and now you got the slack in your suit
- 47:35Speaker 1: and then you can ski jump farther and All I
- 47:40Speaker 1: hear is needle, penis, and acid. Now, again, there are
- 47:46Speaker 1: many different kinds. Acid is a very broad term.
- 47:49Speaker 3: Right, as we covered earlier. Yes.
- 47:52Speaker 1: However, if what you tell me is, because I ain't
- 47:55Speaker 1: no scientist, we're going to put blank acid in your joint. Nah, man,
- 48:01Speaker 1: I'm going to just do this fair and square. Because
- 48:03Speaker 1: let me tell you what I don't, I could be wrong,
- 48:06Speaker 1: but I don't feel like these cats make that much money.
- 48:09Speaker 1: That's some real love of the game shit that we
- 48:11Speaker 1: talking about right here. Where you taking a needle to
- 48:14Speaker 1: the niddles. Nah, dog. Not your boy.
- 48:19Speaker 3: All right, Bo. Voicemails. A lot of great ones. Here's
- 48:28Speaker 3: our first.
- 48:30Speaker 9: Hey, Bomani. So I know you've talked a lot on
- 48:33Speaker 9: the show about being a Braves fan. And one of
- 48:36Speaker 9: the things I've heard... about the Braves is back in
- 48:39Speaker 9: the day they had all of their games nationally broadcasted
- 48:43Speaker 9: on TBS. I was just wondering if you could talk
- 48:46Speaker 9: a little bit about what it was like to have
- 48:48Speaker 9: your favorite team on those broadcasts, what it was like
- 48:51Speaker 9: to watch them growing up, and how that helped sort
- 48:57Speaker 9: of expand their fan base throughout the South and throughout
- 49:01Speaker 9: the country.
- 49:01Speaker 4: Thank you.
- 49:03Speaker 1: So The expansion of the fan base thing, there are
- 49:07Speaker 1: actually two factors to that one. One of them is
- 49:11Speaker 1: the Superstation TBS being, what is now TBS, I guess
- 49:16Speaker 1: people who, I have to remember, this is an age thing.
- 49:19Speaker 1: It used to be. Channel 17 in Atlanta. And then
- 49:23Speaker 1: Ted Turner got it on. Basically, Ted figured out these
- 49:25Speaker 1: cable companies are going to need content. And so he
- 49:29Speaker 1: just threw a bunch of reruns and stuff on there
- 49:32Speaker 1: and then sent those, you know, sent it out everywhere.
- 49:36Speaker 1: Ted Turner bought the Braves and the Hawks so he'd
- 49:41Speaker 1: have content for the channel. And then the channel wound
- 49:45Speaker 1: up on cable and got this distribution. You also have
- 49:48Speaker 1: to remember, and this is still the case for a
- 49:50Speaker 1: lot of the South, but there were many more places
- 49:52Speaker 1: in America that didn't have teams back in the day, right?
- 49:56Speaker 1: So especially in like the Southeast part of the country, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, Arkansas,
- 50:05Speaker 1: Those places.
- 50:06Speaker 3: The Carolinas. Yeah, North Florida. I mean, the teams weren't
- 50:10Speaker 3: in Florida yet.
- 50:11Speaker 4: Right.
- 50:12Speaker 1: And keep in mind with the Carolinas also, D.C. didn't
- 50:14Speaker 1: have a team. Baltimore did, but D.C. D.C. has a
- 50:17Speaker 1: bit more of like an influence in Carolina than like
- 50:20Speaker 1: Baltimore reaches more up.
- 50:22Speaker 4: D.C.
- 50:23Speaker 1: Reaches more down. But either way, those places did not
- 50:25Speaker 1: have a team. And so during the summer when you're
- 50:28Speaker 1: not doing anything else, the Braves were on. Now, a
- 50:30Speaker 1: big part of this, though, the Braves were terrible up
- 50:32Speaker 1: until they weren't. The Cubs have a nationwide fan base
- 50:37Speaker 1: in a lot of ways because WGN did the same thing.
- 50:39Speaker 1: The other level of it, though, with the Braves that
- 50:43Speaker 1: people don't realize is the Braves were on AM 750,
- 50:49Speaker 1: I believe was the radio frequency, but it was a
- 50:53Speaker 1: clear channel station. You could hear the Braves in your
- 50:56Speaker 1: car on the radio constantly. all the way to like Louisiana, Mississippi,
- 51:01Speaker 1: as I remember. Yeah, yeah. So it wasn't just the television, right?
- 51:07Speaker 1: Like if you're on, if we were on a road
- 51:09Speaker 1: trip in that part of the country, we could listen
- 51:11Speaker 1: to the Braves. Like they were everywhere for anybody to have.
- 51:14Speaker 1: So that's for the fan base. For me personally, I
- 51:16Speaker 1: can sum this up very simply. When I was six
- 51:18Speaker 1: years old, the parents decided to move from Atlanta to Houston,
- 51:23Speaker 1: which was not something at the time that I was
- 51:25Speaker 1: really on board with. But imagine my surprise to get
- 51:30Speaker 1: to Houston and to find out that I still have
- 51:33Speaker 1: access to my favorite thing in the world, which was
- 51:36Speaker 1: the Braves. I literally don't know what my life would
- 51:39Speaker 1: be if the Braves were not on cable.
- 51:43Speaker 3: All right, here's our next one.
- 51:45Speaker 5: Hey, Bomani. It's Casey out of Palmdale, California. As someone
- 51:50Speaker 5: like you who feels people need to come on home
- 51:53Speaker 5: when the time comes, what are your thoughts on this
- 51:56Speaker 5: boxer who literally had his hairpiece knocked off during a
- 52:00Speaker 5: fight last week at Madison Square Garden? He won the fight,
- 52:06Speaker 5: but he ended up taking his hairpiece off after he
- 52:09Speaker 5: got knocked off.
- 52:10Speaker 4: During a round.
- 52:11Speaker 5: Took it off, threw it in the crowd in between rounds,
- 52:14Speaker 5: and then went around the crowd and everything else. So
- 52:17Speaker 5: just want to know your thoughts on that. Later, man.
- 52:20Speaker 3: Keep up the good work.
- 52:23Speaker 1: Hey, man. I got to be fair to this cat.
- 52:27Speaker 1: And look, I believe in coming home when it's time
- 52:30Speaker 1: to come home, but that's not a decision for me
- 52:34Speaker 1: to make for other people, right? I mean, I left
- 52:36Speaker 1: home during the pandemic, for example. It's not... for me
- 52:40Speaker 1: necessarily to say when you should or should not go home.
- 52:44Speaker 1: You know, trying to be fair here. This guy seems
- 52:49Speaker 1: to have a problem, and we talked about this with
- 52:51Speaker 1: a few people. LeBron James has this issue. I don't
- 52:54Speaker 1: think that he really got the right shape for properly
- 52:57Speaker 1: coming home, which doesn't leave him with that many options.
- 53:00Speaker 3: You know what doesn't help? Getting punched in the head
- 53:03Speaker 3: for a living.
- 53:04Speaker 1: And so that's the part that I was going to
- 53:06Speaker 1: get to for him, which was, did you... did you
- 53:09Speaker 1: stress test this?
- 53:12Speaker 3: Right?
- 53:12Speaker 1: Like, like, did you have any idea? Like what, what this,
- 53:15Speaker 1: like when you went and got this, you never bothered
- 53:18Speaker 1: to ask any questions about, gee, I don't know, man.
- 53:22Speaker 1: Like I got to make sure this thing can, can
- 53:24Speaker 1: stick around the whole way. Like if I was him,
- 53:26Speaker 1: that's what I probably would have been doing. Okay. Okay.
- 53:32Speaker 1: Hold up. He said, that he used the hairpiece because
- 53:36Speaker 1: he lost his hair because he accidentally washed it with
- 53:40Speaker 1: ammonia bleach. That can't be correct. That has to be
- 53:44Speaker 1: the Google AI just telling me anything, right?
- 53:49Speaker 3: I surely hope so.
- 53:51Speaker 1: That can't. That can't possibly. No, no, no. He said
- 53:57Speaker 1: he lost his day two days earlier using a bottle
- 54:00Speaker 1: of shampoo. He found at his mother's house that was like, quote,
- 54:05Speaker 1: ammonium bleach. I don't even know what that.
- 54:08Speaker 3: All right, here's our next one.
- 54:10Speaker 4: Hey, Bo Money.
- 54:11Speaker 3: This is Rodney out here in Austin.
- 54:12Speaker 7: Let's see your show. Basically, every day I'm going to
- 54:15Speaker 7: be in and out of work. The funniest name to
- 54:18Speaker 7: go on the F-Team list, I would say would be
- 54:21Speaker 7: Hannibal Ferris, the dude that got caught for y'all on
- 54:25Speaker 7: the limelight again. I think that would be the funniest
- 54:28Speaker 7: name on the F-Team list.
- 54:29Speaker 4: All right, buddy. Have a good one.
- 54:33Speaker 1: That would be pretty funny.
- 54:34Speaker 3: Certainly ironic.
- 54:36Speaker 1: Yes, I think ironic is the better way to put that.
- 54:41Speaker 1: It would also raise a lot of questions as to
- 54:43Speaker 1: who put Hannibal Buress down with Jeffrey Epstein.
- 54:47Speaker 3: Epstein just listened to deep cut Buress. How did they
- 54:50Speaker 3: get connected?
- 54:53Speaker 1: Hannibal Buress is so famous for a joke that wasn't
- 54:55Speaker 1: a joke. That was just a real spill.
- 54:59Speaker 3: All right, got to keep the bit going. Here's our
- 55:01Speaker 3: next one.
- 55:02Speaker 1: Hey, what's good, Bo?
- 55:04Speaker 4: This is Jalen from Kentucky, a black Jalen, that is.
- 55:10Speaker 6: And when it comes to the.
- 55:10Speaker 8: Topic of white Jalens or white Tyrones, I haven't met
- 55:15Speaker 8: any of them.
- 55:16Speaker 3: But when I.
- 55:17Speaker 8: Was coaching high school football, our quarterback, who's a white kid,
- 55:22Speaker 8: his mother was named Lanisha, the only white Lanisha I've
- 55:28Speaker 8: ever met, the only white Isha, anything that I've met.
- 55:33Speaker 8: Just thought I would share that. Love the show. Keep
- 55:36Speaker 8: doing what you're doing.
- 55:37Speaker 1: Brian, what'd I tell you about them luhs? Them luh
- 55:41Speaker 1: ladies is out there, but the Isha, the Isha is
- 55:44Speaker 1: a bit of a surprise.
- 55:46Speaker 3: Yeah, it's certainly different. And speaking of luh, here's our
- 55:49Speaker 3: last one.
- 55:51Speaker 4: What's going on, Bo? This is Eric in Stone Mountain, Georgia.
- 55:54Speaker 4: I grew up in Oklahoma City, graduated from Oklahoma State,
- 55:58Speaker 4: and I go back for homecoming from time to time.
- 56:01Speaker 4: which in Stillwater is a really big deal. One of
- 56:04Speaker 4: the events that some of my friends and I attend
- 56:06Speaker 4: is the Black Alumni Golf Tournament. Golf is serious at OSU,
- 56:11Speaker 4: and there are a couple of courses in Stillwater. Lord
- 56:13Speaker 4: knows there ain't much else. But every year, the Black
- 56:17Speaker 4: Alumni Association will rent out one of those courses for
- 56:20Speaker 4: a day, and we'll have a couple dozen or so
- 56:23Speaker 4: foursomes pay to enter a scramble tournament, and all of
- 56:26Speaker 4: that money goes to scholarships for current black students. It's
- 56:29Speaker 4: a really dope cause and it's a lot of fun,
- 56:31Speaker 4: even though most of us suck at golf. But one
- 56:35Speaker 4: of those courses is called Lakeside Memorial. I had learned
- 56:39Speaker 4: that it was designed by OSU's golf coach in 1945,
- 56:43Speaker 4: which says a lot about what that dude looked like.
- 56:48Speaker 4: But that coach was a former PGA Tour pro. And
- 56:51Speaker 4: as the designer of that course, there's a sizable portrait
- 56:53Speaker 4: of him inside the clubhouse. And when I saw this
- 56:58Speaker 4: man's portrait, I had to do a double take. Matter
- 57:01Speaker 4: of fact, I stopped and I took a picture because
- 57:04Speaker 4: that gentleman's name is LeBron Harris Jr. Hashtag white LeBron.
- 57:12Speaker 4: Have a good one, Bo.
- 57:14Speaker 1: First of all, I love how everybody sounds like Mike
- 57:19Speaker 1: Hitman when they sound off now.
- 57:20Speaker 3: Yes.
- 57:21Speaker 1: And by the way, LeBron, L-A-B-R-O-N, E. Harris Jr.
- 57:27Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 57:29Speaker 1: Is still in the league.
- 57:31Speaker 4: Whoa.
- 57:33Speaker 3: Good for him.
- 57:34Speaker 1: 84 years old. He's still in the league. Wow. Made
- 57:40Speaker 1: my day with that one. I also want to throw
- 57:43Speaker 1: something else out. Other things I learned today. It's a
- 57:46Speaker 1: long story as to how we got here. But I
- 57:49Speaker 1: want to send a shout out to a lot of
- 57:52Speaker 1: you folks who like, we keep it real. Because I
- 57:59Speaker 1: was around in this time. Some of y'all bought that
- 58:03Speaker 1: Kid Rock Devil Without a Cause record when it came out.
- 58:09Speaker 1: Y'all did. Y'all was bought with the bond. You know
- 58:13Speaker 1: what I'm saying? Don't act like some of y'all didn't.
- 58:17Speaker 1: Some of y'all did. I did not. So today, I
- 58:21Speaker 1: learned for the first time something that I had no
- 58:25Speaker 1: idea of, which is that Kid Rock has a song called,
- 58:31Speaker 1: and I quote, Black Chick, White Guy. Now, I need
- 58:39Speaker 1: you to understand that this song is a little truer
- 58:44Speaker 1: to life than you might think because Kid Rock does
- 58:48Speaker 1: have a black child.
- 58:51Speaker 4: Deadass.
- 58:52Speaker 1: And he loved this song so much that he put
- 58:54Speaker 1: it out on one album and then did it again
- 58:57Speaker 1: on another album. And guys, this song is so racist.
- 59:05Speaker 1: Like it's so racist, except Brian, it would make Hank
- 59:10Speaker 1: Williams Jr. not hang out with him anymore just because
- 59:13Speaker 1: of the topicality. But it is of that level of,
- 59:18Speaker 1: this is the, so it's about a black kid who
- 59:22Speaker 1: seems to be him, who comes from the middle class.
- 59:26Speaker 1: And this black girl, She came from a place that
- 59:28Speaker 1: was so alone, you know, the same old tale of
- 59:31Speaker 1: a broken home.
- 59:32Speaker 6: Her mama was an alky and more like a friend
- 59:35Speaker 6: and had three different kids from three different men. And
- 59:38Speaker 6: it's a love song about how they started having sex
- 59:41Speaker 6: and then had a baby and then had an abortion.
- 59:44Speaker 1: And then I had to stop reading the lyrics on
- 59:46Speaker 1: the page because I was laughing just a little bit
- 59:49Speaker 1: too hard. You think he played that song, Ryan?
- 59:54Speaker 3: Again, another sign that they weren't taking this culture war seriously.
- 59:59Speaker 3: They went with the artist who had said that song.
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: Oh, God, I hope he still plays it at shows.
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: That would be amazing. But hey, ladies and gentlemen, thanks
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: so much for joining us here on The Right Time.
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: We do this four times a week. Ryan Brumley had
