- 1:47Speaker 3: Let's be honest. Grief can be overwhelming.
- 1:51Speaker 2: But do not be afraid. Today, let's gather your courage
- 1:58Speaker 2: to step out And just to spend a moment with God.
- 2:03Speaker 3: So close your eyes. Take a deep breath in.
- 2:07Speaker 2: And then exhale out. And now taking captive every thought.
- 2:15Speaker 2: Shift your focus unto God. For he is waiting for you.
- 2:21Speaker 2: We'll be meditating on John chapter 11 verse 35 from
- 2:24Speaker 2: the King James Version.
- 2:25Speaker 3: Which reads two simple words. Jesus Christ.
- 2:31Speaker 2: Now take a moment just to pour out your adoration
- 2:34Speaker 2: to God who understands you. Jesus, I give you praise
- 2:40Speaker 2: for you understand my grief. You have intimate knowledge of
- 2:45Speaker 2: my sadness as you have felt it in your own heart. God,
- 2:52Speaker 2: I exalt you because you see my pain and you
- 2:56Speaker 2: care for me. God, I worship you because although you
- 3:02Speaker 2: are great, you never belittle my suffering. Right now, I
- 3:08Speaker 2: praise you because you are the everlasting God, yet you
- 3:14Speaker 2: know me. You do not faint or grow weary. Your
- 3:20Speaker 2: love and your kindness towards me will never cease. You see,
- 3:26Speaker 2: loss is part of and parcel of life. Accepting and
- 3:32Speaker 2: processing your grief is really part of the healing process.
- 3:37Speaker 2: You don't have to pretend everything is all right when
- 3:39Speaker 2: it isn't. It's okay to grieve when you are grieving.
- 3:46Speaker 2: Jesus knew he would resurrect Lazarus, and still he went.
- 3:52Speaker 2: Even knowing he would see his friend again, he mourned
- 3:56Speaker 2: his loss. Through this action, Jesus taught the acknowledgement of emotion,
- 4:02Speaker 2: acceptance of allowing yourself to feel what you're going through.
- 4:09Speaker 2: It's okay to give yourself permission to grieve. It's okay
- 4:15Speaker 2: to experience the emotions of the moment and to allow
- 4:19Speaker 2: those emotions to pass through your heart. As Jesus felt emotion,
- 4:26Speaker 2: so can you. Perhaps you find yourself fighting your grief.
- 4:32Speaker 2: Jesus sees your pain and he knows your heart. So
- 4:37Speaker 2: turn to Christ and confess your grief to him. Share
- 4:42Speaker 2: with him your sorrow.
- 4:44Speaker 3: Why?
- 4:45Speaker 2: Because he understands you. Now take just a few moments
- 4:52Speaker 2: to dwell on the understanding of God. Thank Jesus for
- 4:57Speaker 2: teaching you that it's okay to experience emotions, both the
- 5:02Speaker 2: good and the bad. Thank God for acknowledging and understanding
- 5:09Speaker 2: your feelings. Thank Him for establishing time for you to
- 5:14Speaker 2: process and to heal. Now think of past situations where
- 5:21Speaker 2: your heart was heavy with sorrow.
- 5:25Speaker 3: Thank the Holy.
- 5:26Speaker 2: Spirit for being your comforter and for ministering to your
- 5:31Speaker 2: weary soul. Thank God for caring for you through your pain.
- 5:40Speaker 2: My friends, God is present and he's listening to you.
- 5:46Speaker 2: Jesus sees and he understands your suffering. He's intimate with
- 5:52Speaker 2: your pain. You do not have to process this on
- 5:55Speaker 2: your own. So ask him to help you through this
- 6:00Speaker 2: time of hurt and agony. Ask the Holy Spirit for
- 6:05Speaker 2: His assurance to be upon your heart. Ask Him to
- 6:10Speaker 2: help you accept your emotions and to allow yourself to
- 6:15Speaker 2: feel what you're feeling.
- 6:18Speaker 3: Remember, Jesus wept. So give yourself permission to grieve. The
- 6:25Speaker 3: Lord will comfort your heart.
- 6:28Speaker 2: Experiencing grief and Acknowledging its existence is not a sin,
- 6:33Speaker 2: and it does not make you weak. Everyone grieves in
- 6:37Speaker 2: a different way. No matter how you choose to do so,
- 6:41Speaker 2: don't forget this truth.
- 6:43Speaker 3: You're not alone. Jesus sees you, and he will help
