- 0:02Speaker 1: All right, boys, we actually forgot to do this in
- 0:04Speaker 1: the intro, so we're into this now. Chevy, it's a
- 0:06Speaker 1: trusted company that has been innovating for over one hundred years.
- 0:10Speaker 2: Up to now.
- 0:11Speaker 1: Most electric vehicles either too expensive, too small, or too
- 0:14Speaker 1: limited incapabilities for most people. Chevrolet is committed to making
- 0:18Speaker 1: evs available for all Americans. There's a growing network of
- 0:21Speaker 1: public charging stations that are over nineteen hundred certified Chevy
- 0:25Speaker 1: EV dealerships. Chevy has convenient ways to research and shop
- 0:29Speaker 1: EV's online. EV's for everyone everywhere.
- 0:35Speaker 2: Let's get let's get the pressing question out of the way.
- 0:38Speaker 1: Yeah, let's start off, and really forgot where this interview
- 0:41Speaker 1: is going to go.
- 0:42Speaker 2: Right off the bat.
- 0:43Speaker 3: Where do you stand on the twenty nine Big Twelve
- 0:47Speaker 3: Championship when Texas sold from Nebraska with one second left?
- 0:50Speaker 4: Okay, So, you know, throughout history and throughout time, there's
- 0:54Speaker 4: always been you know, controversial plays, players getting injured, whatnot.
- 1:00Speaker 4: But it's the football gods, man. Things happen the way
- 1:02Speaker 4: they're supposed to happen, right, So Texas won.
- 1:05Speaker 1: When you're at the University of Texas, the gods are
- 1:09Speaker 1: kind of in your guys's favor.
- 1:11Speaker 5: I'd like to think.
- 1:12Speaker 2: So you weren't at Texas at the time when you're
- 1:15Speaker 2: watching it, when you're at the team. I was watching
- 1:16Speaker 2: the game live and you see us celebrate games over cold.
- 1:20Speaker 2: If Sue wasn't that fast, bro Cole was not.
- 1:23Speaker 3: He does an interview I bust his balls about it
- 1:25Speaker 3: all the time where he's like, oh, there was an
- 1:26Speaker 3: alarm clock that went off in my head. I threw
- 1:28Speaker 3: it out. There was one second left. I'm like, bro,
- 1:30Speaker 3: if Sue wasn't that fast, you're not getting rid of
- 1:32Speaker 3: the ball. But they add the second back on kick
- 1:34Speaker 3: canfield goal to win the game. But it was the
- 1:36Speaker 3: most we celebrated. And you, as a coach watching, what
- 1:40Speaker 3: are you thinking there's one more second.
- 1:44Speaker 4: I'll be honest with you, I thought there was one
- 1:45Speaker 4: more second. Now, mind you, we're gonna jump around here.
- 1:50Speaker 4: I was at USC for the bush push against Notre
- 1:54Speaker 4: Dame N five and they stormed the field and they
- 1:58Speaker 4: had to get him off the field.
- 1:59Speaker 5: Then there was the bush push to win the game.
- 2:02Speaker 4: So I've been hard of those games too, Like this
- 2:04Speaker 4: is you know, I hate to tell you that, like
- 2:06Speaker 4: this is the only time it's ever happened, It happens.
- 2:09Speaker 2: I gotta get out of my bubble. You're gonna be
- 2:11Speaker 2: all right.
- 2:11Speaker 1: I know, I know when you were so you're in
- 2:13Speaker 1: high school, you received no offers.
- 2:16Speaker 2: It's not a shot.
- 2:16Speaker 5: Just read your Wikipedia.
- 2:18Speaker 1: You walk on a USC play to play baseball, ends
- 2:21Speaker 1: up transferring to El Camino. I believe it was where
- 2:24Speaker 1: did you find, like regain your love for football to
- 2:27Speaker 1: eventually turn you into.
- 2:27Speaker 5: A ball coach? Questions?
- 2:29Speaker 4: So I went back to El Camino and John Featherstone
- 2:34Speaker 4: was the head coach at that time at El Camino,
- 2:35Speaker 4: kind of a legendary junior college coach. And I was
- 2:38Speaker 4: playing baseball, but I was in health class with Coach
- 2:41Speaker 4: Featherstone and he just kind of kept prodding me to
- 2:46Speaker 4: come back out, come back out play football and uh,
- 2:50Speaker 4: legendary junior college program. I had no business in my
- 2:54Speaker 4: mind thinking I was going to go out there and
- 2:56Speaker 4: play with these guys. But I went out when baseball
- 2:59Speaker 4: season was done and just kind of started working my
- 3:02Speaker 4: way up the depth chart and next thing you know,
- 3:04Speaker 4: here comes the season open and I was a starting
- 3:06Speaker 4: quarterback at El Camino and we had the worst team
- 3:10Speaker 4: in El Camino history.
- 3:11Speaker 5: Two and eight.
- 3:12Speaker 4: My freshman year, like never happened at El Camino, and
- 3:15Speaker 4: I was like, I must not be very good, right,
- 3:18Speaker 4: I mean individually.
- 3:19Speaker 5: I played Okay, Yeah, I played pretty good.
- 3:21Speaker 4: I had Actually I had a couple offers to leave
- 3:23Speaker 4: that year, and I just thought, man if I could
- 3:26Speaker 4: stick around and do it again. And then the next
- 3:28Speaker 4: year we went out and had a really good year
- 3:30Speaker 4: and got a lot more opportunities and old ultimately went
- 3:33Speaker 4: on to BYU.
- 3:34Speaker 1: Yeah, those first couple offers, you got what we're talking about,
- 3:38Speaker 1: D one double A.
- 3:39Speaker 5: No, they were actually pretty good. I mean they were. Yeah.
- 3:41Speaker 4: Like the weird thing about junior college, I played it
- 3:45Speaker 4: and I coached it. Everybody's got a need and at
- 3:48Speaker 4: that time, there was no transfer portal like we're dealing
- 3:50Speaker 4: with now. It was like, you better go to the
- 3:52Speaker 4: the JC ranks and get a guy that can leave
- 3:55Speaker 4: right now. And I could haven't been a four to
- 3:59Speaker 4: two four transfer or I was already academically eligible, so
- 4:01Speaker 4: I could have left after that first year, but ultimately
- 4:05Speaker 4: stuck around and played the second year.
- 4:07Speaker 1: If it wasn't for that coach and that health class,
- 4:09Speaker 1: where do you think you would be now?
- 4:13Speaker 5: I'd probably be a high school teacher and a high
- 4:15Speaker 5: school coach. I really would.
- 4:16Speaker 2: Coaching football or baseball, probably probably both.
- 4:20Speaker 4: I mean you get you know, when you're a high
- 4:21Speaker 4: school coach and teacher. I mean in California especially, man,
- 4:25Speaker 4: you got to do it all. You got you got,
- 4:26Speaker 4: you got gym class, You're probably coaching football, You're probably
- 4:29Speaker 4: coaching baseball, and you might be coaching freshman basketball too.
- 4:33Speaker 5: I mean, you got to do it all.
- 4:34Speaker 4: But that's what I was doing in the off season
- 4:37Speaker 4: when I was playing in the CFL. I was a
- 4:40Speaker 4: substitute teacher and I helped out, and that's kind of
- 4:43Speaker 4: I was always that. This has always made sense to me.
- 4:46Speaker 3: So when you transfer from El Camino and you go
- 4:48Speaker 3: to BYU, when you get that scholarship because you were
- 4:50Speaker 3: slinging the rock around your sophomore year at El Camino,
- 4:53Speaker 3: you get a scholarship to go to BYU. In ninety six,
- 4:56Speaker 3: you win the Semi Ball War, the top passer in
- 4:59Speaker 3: the in the country. Then you play three years in
- 5:02Speaker 3: the Canadian League, you played professional ball. Talk to people
- 5:05Speaker 3: about how that translates for you being here now managing
- 5:09Speaker 3: a quarterback room with nothing but talent With Quinn yours
- 5:11Speaker 3: arch man comes to mind, and I know there are
- 5:12Speaker 3: more guys even in that room, but talk about how
- 5:14Speaker 3: you keep that healthy competition going while also teaching and
- 5:18Speaker 3: developing developing these guys, because you know, especially in this
- 5:21Speaker 3: day and age, like guys want to come, they want
- 5:23Speaker 3: to play right now. And you've been at spots like
- 5:24Speaker 3: BAM and USC where you've had talent all around these rooms.
- 5:27Speaker 3: Talk about how your experience there being in every seed
- 5:29Speaker 3: has helped you become the teacher.
- 5:31Speaker 4: I think it's I think it's a valid point in question.
- 5:34Speaker 4: I was never the most physically gifted player, right, I
- 5:37Speaker 4: didn't have the biggest arm. I'm not the tallest guy.
- 5:40Speaker 4: I wasn't the fastest guy. So I had to play
- 5:43Speaker 4: the game up here.
- 5:45Speaker 5: You know.
- 5:45Speaker 4: I had to know our offense so well. I had
- 5:48Speaker 4: to know defenses so well, and how plays were going
- 5:52Speaker 4: to work predicated off the defenses we were going to get.
- 5:55Speaker 4: That's how I played the game, and so that's how
- 5:57Speaker 4: we teach the game. We try to teach the game
- 6:00Speaker 4: beyond just knowing how to run our plays, but how
- 6:02Speaker 4: do they fit with the defense We're going to get?
- 6:05Speaker 5: What's the front, what's the coverage?
- 6:07Speaker 4: You know, where's the weakness in the defense and where's
- 6:09Speaker 4: the whole predicated on the play we're going to run.
- 6:11Speaker 4: So that's how we teach it and we've been teaching
- 6:13Speaker 4: it that way for jeez, almost twenty five years now,
- 6:16Speaker 4: going back to when I was back at junior college
- 6:19Speaker 4: to coaching Carson Palmer at USC. But at the end
- 6:22Speaker 4: of the day, we try to get these guys to
- 6:24Speaker 4: understand that, like your journey's your journey, focus on what
- 6:28Speaker 4: you need to do and not get so caught up
- 6:30Speaker 4: in what the guy next to you is doing or
- 6:32Speaker 4: what he's working on, because everybody's at a different stage.
- 6:35Speaker 4: Those early years at UC had I had Carson Palmer,
- 6:39Speaker 4: Matt Castle, and Matt Lioner all in the same quarterback room.
- 6:43Speaker 4: All three of those guys went on to have careers
- 6:45Speaker 4: in the NFL and make a bunch of money, and
- 6:47Speaker 4: they're great guys that lent itself to shoot. When we
- 6:51Speaker 4: were at Alabama, you're in the same room with Jalen
- 6:53Speaker 4: Hurts to a tongue of Illo and Mac Jones, everybody
- 6:56Speaker 4: was at a different stage. Everybody was working on their craft.
- 6:59Speaker 4: Now all three of us were starting in the NFL
- 7:01Speaker 4: and doing their things, so you can recruit that room
- 7:04Speaker 4: and you can get guys to understand it's not about
- 7:07Speaker 4: just getting on the field and playing, it's when you
- 7:09Speaker 4: get your opportunity to play great Mac. You know, Mark
- 7:13Speaker 4: Sanchez was a one year starter for US at USC
- 7:16Speaker 4: was a fifth pick of the draft. Mac Jones was
- 7:19Speaker 4: a one year starter for US at Alabama, was a
- 7:22Speaker 4: first round pick for New England. And if both guys
- 7:24Speaker 4: were first year starters in the NFL, we felt like
- 7:27Speaker 4: we prepared them to play in the NFL and they
- 7:29Speaker 4: only needed one year to go do it. And both
- 7:31Speaker 4: those guys were championship quarterbacks in college. So that's kind
- 7:35Speaker 4: of what we preach here. You know, we've got a
- 7:36Speaker 4: great room. You know, it's a talented room. With Quinn,
- 7:39Speaker 4: with Arch, with Malik Murphy. All those guys are going
- 7:42Speaker 4: to have have aspirations of playing in the NFL. Our
- 7:45Speaker 4: job is to have them have a great experience while
- 7:48Speaker 4: they're here, be part of championship teams, and then put
- 7:51Speaker 4: them in position to fulfill their dreams of playing in
- 7:53Speaker 4: the NFL.
- 7:54Speaker 1: With the new landscape of college football and the way
- 7:56Speaker 1: the NIL deals are going and the transfer portals, essentially
- 7:59Speaker 1: turning into free agency those huge rooms and like you're
- 8:02Speaker 1: talking about USC and Alabama, Like how do you keep
- 8:05Speaker 1: a talented quarterback room together? And getting guys to believe, Hey,
- 8:09Speaker 1: all it takes is one year when guys can just
- 8:11Speaker 1: go off and go wherever they want to be starters
- 8:13Speaker 1: right away, Yeah, with lots of just And I think
- 8:15Speaker 1: that's that's always the challenge, right at the end of
- 8:19Speaker 1: the day. Nil deals are great, you know they are,
- 8:22Speaker 1: And I think it's good for our sport, I really do.
- 8:25Speaker 1: I mean, guys are working their tails off and trying
- 8:28Speaker 1: and if they can use their name, image and likeness
- 8:30Speaker 1: to to take advantage of of who they are and
- 8:33Speaker 1: get paid to do so, unbelievable. But the reality of
- 8:36Speaker 1: it is that money compared to the money that's really
- 8:39Speaker 1: going on in the NFL, and especially now more than ever,
- 8:42Speaker 1: of where the money is going in the NFL with
- 8:44Speaker 1: the guaranteed money and the free agency con that's the
- 8:47Speaker 1: real money. That's that's the real money to try to
- 8:50Speaker 1: go attain and achieve that, that's that's life changing money
- 8:53Speaker 1: that you have opportunities to go get. So do we
- 8:57Speaker 1: try to create opportunities for our guys here from anil perspective,
- 9:00Speaker 1: and is that part of the motivation to keep him.
- 9:03Speaker 5: I hope not.
- 9:03Speaker 4: I hope they want to be here because they want
- 9:05Speaker 4: to be great, and they want to have a ten
- 9:06Speaker 4: to twelve year career in the NFL and get three
- 9:09Speaker 4: contracts and you know, their kids never have to work again,
- 9:13Speaker 4: kids exactly. But if if we're short sighted, and if
- 9:18Speaker 4: the individual or the family short sighted on that, this
- 9:20Speaker 4: probably isn't the place for him anyway.
- 9:22Speaker 1: Quite frankly, when you do with Famili's from a recruiting standpoint,
- 9:27Speaker 1: we all watched arts Manning and I'm sure you get
- 9:29Speaker 1: the question all the time of.
- 9:30Speaker 2: The entire family. Yeah, the entire family. And he's not
- 9:34Speaker 2: doing media. He did.
- 9:35Speaker 1: He took a very unique approach to his high school
- 9:37Speaker 1: football and how he went about his business. Like, what
- 9:40Speaker 1: was your process like recruiting him? Was it the whole family?
- 9:43Speaker 1: Because nowadays, like with Nil and all that, and you
- 9:46Speaker 1: have to recruit an entire family, not just the player.
- 9:48Speaker 4: You know, I couldn't. I tell his mom and dad
- 9:53Speaker 4: all the time. They did an unbelievable job raising him.
- 9:56Speaker 4: And in the process, I never I never talked to Peyton.
- 10:00Speaker 4: I never talked to Eli. I talked to cup, I
- 10:03Speaker 4: talked to Ellen, I talked to Arch, I talked to Hyde,
- 10:07Speaker 4: I talked to sister. Like it was about the family,
- 10:10Speaker 4: truly the family. It wasn't about the Manning brand. It
- 10:14Speaker 4: was about Arch Manning and is this the best fit
- 10:17Speaker 4: for him to go to school football wise, academically, socially,
- 10:22Speaker 4: the city of Austin. And I think that's why they
- 10:26Speaker 4: got to a spot to where they could make a
- 10:28Speaker 4: really kind of just clear minded decision what was best
- 10:31Speaker 4: for him.
- 10:32Speaker 5: And it wasn't this enormous media circus.
- 10:35Speaker 4: I mean, they kept that thing pretty tight, but they
- 10:37Speaker 4: went about it in a really positive way. They took
- 10:39Speaker 4: on official visits, they took official visits, They created relationships
- 10:43Speaker 4: with the coaches at the varying schools, and they're all
- 10:46Speaker 4: great schools. Ultimately, they felt like this was the best
- 10:48Speaker 4: place for him, and I think it came down to
- 10:50Speaker 4: what he wanted and then the family supported him.
- 10:54Speaker 2: That's awesome.
- 10:54Speaker 3: I mean it makes you feel like like if you
- 10:56Speaker 3: just had one year of eligibility to play quarterback, like
- 10:58Speaker 3: this could be a guy. See why guys gravitate towards
- 11:01Speaker 3: wanting to play absolutely, speaking of recruiting you've been You've
- 11:05Speaker 3: mentioned the talent rooms at USC Alabama here. Now, what's
- 11:09Speaker 3: a what's a unique recruiting story that you have back
- 11:13Speaker 3: in the day to where a guy's had an incredible
- 11:15Speaker 3: career that you look back on and they might have
- 11:17Speaker 3: had the most interesting recruiting story from your time on
- 11:20Speaker 3: the road.
- 11:20Speaker 4: This is always the toughest one, man, Like I always
- 11:25Speaker 4: remember one story we were in We were in Gatson City, Alabama,
- 11:31Speaker 4: and I was assistant coach at USC and we were recruiting. Man,
- 11:37Speaker 4: I want to say, it might have been Drake or
- 11:39Speaker 4: Patrick or that. I can't remember.
- 11:41Speaker 5: There was there's some kids there, and there's a lot
- 11:44Speaker 5: of a lot.
- 11:44Speaker 4: Of coaches there, and I were meeting this young coach
- 11:47Speaker 4: and and he was talking really fast, and I'm trying
- 11:51Speaker 4: to figure out, like what what is this guy's name?
- 11:54Speaker 5: You know?
- 11:54Speaker 4: And then Coach Carol met him and I circle back
- 11:57Speaker 4: and I said, hey, can I get your card because
- 11:59Speaker 4: I wanted to know his name. Come to find out,
- 12:01Speaker 4: it was Dabo Sweeney and he was a young coach.
- 12:04Speaker 4: He was a young coach at Clemson like almost twenty
- 12:07Speaker 4: years ago now, and we're all there, you know, recruiting
- 12:10Speaker 4: the same guys at Alabama.
- 12:11Speaker 5: But man, he was a fast talker.
- 12:13Speaker 4: And Davel and I have a great relationship now, but
- 12:15Speaker 4: that one was funny to me to think, like, everybody's
- 12:17Speaker 4: on this journey, in this path, and we all started
- 12:19Speaker 4: somewhere right and we were both young coaches, assistant coaches,
- 12:23Speaker 4: just trying to go recruit good players for our head
- 12:25Speaker 4: coach and our programs. And we're talking you man, let's
- 12:28Speaker 4: due deb And I was like, what did this guy
- 12:30Speaker 4: just tell me his name was?
- 12:31Speaker 5: You know? Can I get your card?
- 12:32Speaker 4: You know? And I joke with him about it now, like, hey,
- 12:35Speaker 4: oh okay, Davil sween, I remember that. Pretty good career
- 12:38Speaker 4: so far. Now that's one a couple of national.
- 12:42Speaker 2: JP. He's a he's a South Carolina game cop. Ye.
- 12:44Speaker 4: Oh, man, hey he's doing a good job. Man, that's good.
- 12:50Speaker 4: That's doing great right there.
- 12:51Speaker 1: With when you were you were in Alabama before you
- 12:54Speaker 1: were here, correct, yes, sir. So when you are obviously
- 12:57Speaker 1: having the talent you are the type of coach that
- 12:59Speaker 1: you become, you obviously had a lot of offers out
- 13:01Speaker 1: there to go to different universities. What about Texas was
- 13:04Speaker 1: such a selling point?
- 13:05Speaker 5: For you.
- 13:05Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean I think it got to a point
- 13:09Speaker 4: at the end of my first year at Alabama, I
- 13:11Speaker 4: had gotten a couple job offers, and at that point
- 13:14Speaker 4: it was, Okay, I'm going to be a head coach again.
- 13:18Speaker 4: Let's make sure it's right because I don't know if
- 13:20Speaker 4: I'm going to get another opportunity after that one. So
- 13:22Speaker 4: we got to make sure this is the right one
- 13:24Speaker 4: and coach another year at Alabama. And when when Texas
- 13:28Speaker 4: ultimately called. And you think about like as a kid
- 13:31Speaker 4: when I was growing up, right, first of all, the uniforms,
- 13:35Speaker 4: like the helmets, like the helmets like to me, those
- 13:38Speaker 4: were iconic helmets and uniforms. And I had when I
- 13:42Speaker 4: was a kid, I had a remember the Sports Illustrated
- 13:45Speaker 4: Posters edition. Yeah not those ones posters, but yeah, I had.
- 13:52Speaker 4: I had the poster of Earl Campbell above my bed
- 13:56Speaker 4: playing for the Houston Oilers, like it was Earl Campbell.
- 14:00Speaker 5: Okay.
- 14:00Speaker 4: So then you fast forward Ricky Williams. I'm like, he
- 14:03Speaker 4: was a California kid coming to Texas. I was like, wow,
- 14:06Speaker 4: you know, they never come to California, you know, And
- 14:09Speaker 4: there's Ricky goes and wins the Heisman, Trophy, and then
- 14:12Speaker 4: all of a sudden, I'm on the other sideline when
- 14:15Speaker 4: Vince Young beats USC. I'm calling plays for USC in
- 14:19Speaker 4: that game, and I'm watching what I thought was Superman
- 14:22Speaker 4: and the.
- 14:22Speaker 5: Confetti come down.
- 14:23Speaker 4: And so I've always held Texas football in very high regard.
- 14:29Speaker 5: And then you start doing the research.
- 14:31Speaker 4: You start looking at the value of the education, You
- 14:33Speaker 4: start looking at what's happening in the city of Austin.
- 14:36Speaker 4: You start looking at recruitability and the recruiting base in
- 14:39Speaker 4: the state of Texas, and then the national brand, the
- 14:42Speaker 4: ability to go national and to do that and then
- 14:45Speaker 4: have a known Chris del Connie, the athletic director, and
- 14:48Speaker 4: then getting to meet President Hertzel, it just felt right.
- 14:52Speaker 4: And then the last piece to the puzzle that I
- 14:54Speaker 4: always hold on to, it's like, it's a lot easier
- 14:58Speaker 4: to win championships when they've won them before and this
- 15:01Speaker 4: place is one and before and naturally, hey, there was
- 15:04Speaker 4: a decade there where it wasn't Texas like what everybody
- 15:06Speaker 4: thought it was. Shoot, but when Pete Carroll got hired
- 15:09Speaker 4: by USC, there was about a decade of mediocrity before
- 15:13Speaker 4: they went on that run, before Nick Saban went to Alabama,
- 15:16Speaker 4: there was about a decade of mediocrity. So all the
- 15:19Speaker 4: blue blooded programs at times can fall on some hard times,
- 15:23Speaker 4: but they're a lot easier and a lot quicker to
- 15:25Speaker 4: get back on track because of the history and tradition.
- 15:28Speaker 3: You hear that Nebraska fans before Matt rule was brought
- 15:30Speaker 3: to Nebraska a decade of losing. The good times are coming.
- 15:34Speaker 3: We have one last question. I see, I see.
- 15:36Speaker 2: We're going to have one last question. It's called factor fiction.
- 15:39Speaker 2: That's a segment, Taylor, get it outa get it out.
- 15:41Speaker 3: We're going to show you a photo and you're basically
- 15:44Speaker 3: going to express your opinion if it's fact or fiction. Taylor,
- 15:47Speaker 3: show the camera the photo, and then show him the photo.
- 15:51Speaker 5: I can't see.
- 15:54Speaker 2: Fact you have over here.
- 15:56Speaker 1: Fact It says the glass Rivalry and college football Fact
- 16:00Speaker 1: ninety six thousand fans. If there is a game played
- 16:03Speaker 1: in the third week of November. I think it's called
- 16:04Speaker 1: the game.
- 16:05Speaker 5: It's called the game.
- 16:06Speaker 1: Yeah, between Ohio State and Michigan, widely noticed, the greatest
- 16:09Speaker 1: probably in sports. So how is what I just said fact?
- 16:13Speaker 2: Yet? That is fact?
- 16:15Speaker 4: Honestly, I was before you said that, I was like, man,
- 16:17Speaker 4: the iron Bowls.
- 16:18Speaker 5: That was a pretty good rivalry. Yeah, I would say
- 16:20Speaker 5: probably be second.
- 16:21Speaker 2: I think five, and then Nebraska I think up there too, seriously.
- 16:30Speaker 1: Right right behind Ohio State, Michigan, Nebraska, Iowa, and then
- 16:35Speaker 1: probably you're right the iron ball. I was going to
- 16:37Speaker 1: give you guys top three, but you kind of just
- 16:39Speaker 1: talked yourself out of that.
- 16:40Speaker 2: No, I think he's saying his list is rhetoric one
- 16:43Speaker 2: iron ball one. I think that's what he's saying. You're saying,
- 16:46Speaker 2: the game is three?
- 16:49Speaker 5: Which game?
- 16:49Speaker 2: The game?
- 16:50Speaker 5: Oh he's got he's got us playing his game. He
- 16:54Speaker 5: goes which game? He knew the game he's got us?
- 16:55Speaker 2: In a blender? Would you put usc U c l
- 16:59Speaker 2: A over Oha State Michigan say.
- 17:01Speaker 5: Yes, probably because of proximity.
- 17:04Speaker 4: You know, the mileage of proximity, the how tight, how
- 17:07Speaker 4: close the schools are.
- 17:08Speaker 1: You think about how many people you have to pass
- 17:10Speaker 1: to get from one place or the other. Though it's
- 17:11Speaker 1: probably way more people, so technically it seems farther away
- 17:14Speaker 1: and LA traffic, it's a hell of a deal.
- 17:16Speaker 2: Yeah, I feel like I feel like.
- 17:18Speaker 3: I feel like he's he's really flipped the flip the script.
- 17:22Speaker 1: Well, great game, though, I watch it when I can listen.
- 17:25Speaker 1: If it was if it was two years ago, i'd
- 17:27Speaker 1: have probably given you it. But Michigan, we've won two
- 17:29Speaker 1: in a row.
- 17:30Speaker 4: So they're both dynasty and I will say this, that's
- 17:33Speaker 4: what makes right, That's what makes rivalryes great.
- 17:36Speaker 2: Right. Yeah.
- 17:36Speaker 3: The great thing about yours too, is it's early in
- 17:38Speaker 3: the year. I feel like there's like a you know
- 17:40Speaker 3: when that week's on, right, the sunshine.
- 17:42Speaker 4: This setting is amazing, right, I mean, you go, you
- 17:44Speaker 4: go to Dallas, You're at the State Fair. The stadium
- 17:48Speaker 4: is split fifty to fifty right down the middle. The
- 17:50Speaker 4: locker rooms. When you come out, you're about ten yards apart.
- 17:53Speaker 4: Both teams are right there. It's at the old Cotton Bowl.
- 17:56Speaker 4: You know, we're at in Jerry's world. Yet you know
- 17:59Speaker 4: it's you're on the grass like in It's It's a
- 18:02Speaker 4: really cool setting, man. It's it's something that I have
- 18:05Speaker 4: never experienced in a game like that where the fans
- 18:08Speaker 4: are split fifty to fifty and they're not split, they're
- 18:11Speaker 4: split at the fifty yard line. So in one end
- 18:13Speaker 4: of the field it's a home game. You get to
- 18:16Speaker 4: the other end of the field, it's a road game.
- 18:18Speaker 4: And I mean that I had to learn that the
- 18:20Speaker 4: first the first year, I mean, we couldn't we fall
- 18:22Speaker 4: start and I'm like, what is going on? We were
- 18:24Speaker 4: stuck in their end of the field, and that that
- 18:26Speaker 4: ultimately kind of spun the game there in the fourth quarter.
- 18:28Speaker 3: Tack and you said it. You said it quickly. But
- 18:30Speaker 3: for everybody watching, the Texas State Fairy is taking very
- 18:33Speaker 3: serious in the State of Texas.
- 18:35Speaker 5: Yes it is.
