- 0:08Speaker 1: Hello, and welcome into another episode of to check O Daily.
- 0:11Speaker 2: It's Andrew de Checko, Eagles beat reporter Friendsidethebirds dot Com
- 0:14Speaker 2: here with you, and Saturday mark.
- 0:17Speaker 1: Day three of Eagles training camp.
- 0:19Speaker 2: It's moving quickly here and I have a lot of
- 0:21Speaker 2: takeaways that I want to get to you guys, but
- 0:23Speaker 2: before we do that, we'll start with the practice report.
- 0:27Speaker 2: The following Eagles were non participants on Day three. Linebacker
- 0:30Speaker 2: Jahid Campbell excused not injury related, defensive lineman Taekwon Graham
- 0:35Speaker 2: excuse not injury related, right tackle Lane Johnson excused, not
- 0:40Speaker 2: injury related, wide receiver Elijah Moore excuse not injury related,
- 0:44Speaker 2: offensive tackle Cameron Williams knee contusion, and safety colez Nesky hamstring.
- 0:51Speaker 2: Three players sustained injuries during the session, including draft picks
- 0:54Speaker 2: outside linebacker Keyshawn James Newby and guard Michael Morris. On
- 0:58Speaker 2: the final play of practice, undrafted rookie guard Jaden Roberts
- 1:02Speaker 2: went down. He was tended to by trainers, and then
- 1:05Speaker 2: he remained down for an extended period.
- 1:07Speaker 1: It didn't look good on initial viewing.
- 1:10Speaker 2: Roberts was eventually helped onto a cart and taken inside,
- 1:13Speaker 2: so we'll certainly monitor those updates there.
- 1:18Speaker 1: But let's get to the observations.
- 1:20Speaker 2: And I should note that I haven't yet written my
- 1:23Speaker 2: observations for Inside the Birds dot Com where I'm able
- 1:26Speaker 2: to really have it in an organized fashion, So if
- 1:29Speaker 2: it's a little scattered, to bear with me. But I
- 1:31Speaker 2: wanted to get this to you guys first before I
- 1:34Speaker 2: even published that. But among the focuses during the early
- 1:37Speaker 2: portion of practice, including special teams, specifically punt protection, third
- 1:42Speaker 2: year of running back Will Shipley was first up as
- 1:44Speaker 2: the personal protector, and other constants included tight end fullback
- 1:49Speaker 2: Cameron Latsu, linebacker Jeremiah Trotter Junior, and tight end Johnny Munt. Shipley,
- 1:54Speaker 2: by the way, for those who aren't aware, has served
- 1:56Speaker 2: as the Eagles' primary punt protector the past two season.
- 2:00Speaker 2: On the other half of the field, wide receivers Britton Covey,
- 2:03Speaker 2: McKay Lemon, and Qus Watkins, along with defensive back Cooper
- 2:07Speaker 2: degen Or among those fielding punts. This was a banner
- 2:11Speaker 2: performance from pillwar to post from the Eagles defense.
- 2:15Speaker 1: And there's too many players to highlight.
- 2:18Speaker 2: I will mention three and I'll speak to that in
- 2:22Speaker 2: a little bit more of an expanded analysis here, but
- 2:25Speaker 2: linebacker Jeremiah Trotter Junior and on the defensive line Jalen Carter,
- 2:30Speaker 2: edge rusher jay loox Hunt I thought had tremendous practices.
- 2:35Speaker 2: Context is really important here, and I feel the need
- 2:38Speaker 2: to reiterate this. This is an elite defense and they're
- 2:41Speaker 2: going up against an offense that's working through some things.
- 2:44Speaker 2: There's going to be growing pains, they're trying different things,
- 2:47Speaker 2: and it's the installation process right now. But it doesn't
- 2:52Speaker 2: help when you're going against the top defense, and I
- 2:54Speaker 2: think the offense should be.
- 2:56Speaker 1: Better for it.
- 2:57Speaker 2: I haven't necessarily seen the offense pop through three practices.
- 3:02Speaker 2: There's been moments, but this defense is definitely legitimate.
- 3:06Speaker 1: You could see the nucleus of.
- 3:09Speaker 2: That that young talent and that on that defense that's
- 3:12Speaker 2: played together for at least three seasons, and that continuity
- 3:16Speaker 2: in chemistry is certainly reflected in their play on the field.
- 3:22Speaker 2: The group in the beginning, you see Cooper Dejean Marcus
- 3:26Speaker 2: EPs was first up with Drew mccooba at safety and
- 3:29Speaker 2: at linebacker. Remember Johat Campbell was excused today. He joined
- 3:34Speaker 2: Zach Bonn with the first unit and Johnny Munt opened
- 3:38Speaker 2: practice as.
- 3:39Speaker 1: The second tight end.
- 3:40Speaker 2: When they went to twelve personnel, DeVante Smith, Dontavian Wicks,
- 3:45Speaker 2: and Makay Lemon were the wide receivers. On the second play,
- 3:49Speaker 2: it was Goddard and Hollywood Brown came in, DeVante Smith
- 3:55Speaker 2: went out, Zach Bond had a hand on a Jalen
- 3:58Speaker 2: Hurtz pass, and this is all in eleven on eleven.
- 4:01Speaker 1: This is team drills that I'm talking about here.
- 4:04Speaker 2: Later on throughout the team period, you see m kay Lemon,
- 4:08Speaker 2: Darius Cooper, and DeVante Smith. There was another pass breakup
- 4:11Speaker 2: at the line. I couldn't tell which player it was.
- 4:14Speaker 2: It could have been Jaalen Carter or it could have
- 4:16Speaker 2: been Jordan Davis. Both players were celebrating together after the play.
- 4:21Speaker 2: Darius Cooper worked in quite a bit with the first team,
- 4:24Speaker 2: and I think if I had to put five wide
- 4:27Speaker 2: receivers on the roster, he would be the fifth. Right now,
- 4:30Speaker 2: It's still obviously very early and Johnny Wilson could have
- 4:33Speaker 2: something to say about that as the summer progresses. But
- 4:36Speaker 2: I just want to highlight Darius Cooper here for a
- 4:38Speaker 2: moment because he catches everything.
- 4:41Speaker 1: He's jacked.
- 4:42Speaker 2: I mean, if you watch him out there there, he
- 4:44Speaker 2: has a compact build and he's just able to fend
- 4:48Speaker 2: off defensive backs. He's seemingly always in the right place
- 4:50Speaker 2: at the right time. Just a really steady and consistent player.
- 4:53Speaker 2: It's easy to see why the Eagles like him, and
- 4:56Speaker 2: through three practices, I think he's had strong showings in each.
- 5:02Speaker 2: Another player who I haven't mentioned through the first couple
- 5:06Speaker 2: of practices was Arnold Evacati, who signed the two year
- 5:08Speaker 2: due in free agency, and there were moments that he
- 5:11Speaker 2: flashed to me anyway, and he bul rushed Fred Johnson
- 5:16Speaker 2: on occasion there in one instance, there were a couple
- 5:20Speaker 2: of other quality rushes that he had. Fred Johnson, by
- 5:23Speaker 2: the way, was the right tackle in place of Lane Johnson.
- 5:26Speaker 2: But apart from that, the offensive line was as expected.
- 5:30Speaker 2: The second unit was Markel Bell, the Eagles rookie tackle
- 5:34Speaker 2: at left tackle. At left guard was Jake Majors, who
- 5:39Speaker 2: had been playing center with the second unit.
- 5:41Speaker 1: Drew Kendall was the center.
- 5:43Speaker 2: Right guard in the beginning was Michael Morris, and the
- 5:47Speaker 2: right tackle was John Dejukuu. John Adjuku is a player
- 5:50Speaker 2: that I will be keeping an eye on he still
- 5:53Speaker 2: has an uphill battle to make the team, but you
- 5:55Speaker 2: see the experience that he has and Cameron Williams now
- 5:59Speaker 2: having the knee contusion. Miles Hinton really hasn't factored all
- 6:02Speaker 2: that much into the mix early on here in camp,
- 6:05Speaker 2: after really repping with the second team at guard. He
- 6:09Speaker 2: got some developmental work at the end of practice, which
- 6:11Speaker 2: I noticed. But Janajukuu is someone that has played with
- 6:15Speaker 2: the Tennessee Titans before and I'm not quite sure if
- 6:18Speaker 2: he offers guard versatility. He may have cross trained there
- 6:21Speaker 2: in the spring. I have to check my notes on that.
- 6:24Speaker 2: But he's kind of a player who's a little bit
- 6:26Speaker 2: under the radar that when I'm looking at this backup
- 6:29Speaker 2: offensive line group, I'm a little curious to see more of,
- 6:32Speaker 2: especially when you get to the preseason. Jalen Hurts hit
- 6:36Speaker 2: Darius Cooper on an inbreaker. Darius Cooper again just has
- 6:40Speaker 2: a really good feel for how to get open and
- 6:41Speaker 2: how to use his body to create separation. There was
- 6:46Speaker 2: another eleven on eleven period where it was Cooper, de
- 6:50Speaker 2: Gene and Drew mccouba at safety when they were in base.
- 6:55Speaker 2: That's something that it's going to be a constant competition
- 6:57Speaker 2: there at that position. And while we're at it, I
- 7:01Speaker 2: should give you some quotes that I got from Marcus
- 7:04Speaker 2: EPs after practice and he spoke to a handful of
- 7:08Speaker 2: us in a scrum in the mix zone, and he
- 7:10Speaker 2: had some interesting things to say about the competition, and
- 7:14Speaker 2: he mentioned that he was the expectation was that he
- 7:21Speaker 2: was going to be competing for a starting job when
- 7:22Speaker 2: he signed. He said, I mean it's an open competition.
- 7:25Speaker 2: They made that clear, and that's where my focus is.
- 7:27Speaker 2: I've always had to earn everything in my whole career anyway.
- 7:31Speaker 2: So we're all pushing each other, we're all encouraging each other,
- 7:33Speaker 2: and we're all just going out there, taking it one
- 7:36Speaker 2: day at a time and trying to get better.
- 7:38Speaker 3: Hey, Philly fans, game day is stressful enough. Parking, traffic,
- 7:42Speaker 3: long lines, We've all been there. But when it comes
- 7:45Speaker 3: to your cannabis, Camden Apothecary makes it easy. This is
- 7:50Speaker 3: the dispensary for sports fans, just minutes outside of Philly,
- 7:54Speaker 3: with plenty of free parking. You'll be in and out fast,

- 8:23Speaker 3: even show love to the community with specials for fans, students,
- 8:28Speaker 3: service members, and healthcare pros. Cam Din Apothecary top quality cannabis,
- 8:33Speaker 3: great prices, and an experience made for Philly fans twenty
- 8:36Speaker 3: one and up.
- 8:39Speaker 2: When asked about what made him want to come back,
- 8:42Speaker 2: he said, I just think this is the place for me. Honestly,
- 8:44Speaker 2: I'm happy here. It feels good to come to work
- 8:47Speaker 2: every day here. I feel like I'm around like minded people,
- 8:50Speaker 2: people who love ball the way I do, and it's
- 8:52Speaker 2: easy to come to work. I feel like I belong here,
- 8:55Speaker 2: so I'm really really happy to be back. When asked
- 8:59Speaker 2: about what he that he showed over the last five
- 9:02Speaker 2: games of the season when he had to start, he said,
- 9:05Speaker 2: I feel like I did solid, man. I was proud
- 9:07Speaker 2: of myself coming off a long stint of coming off
- 9:09Speaker 2: the ACL having fifteen months without starting a game. All
- 9:12Speaker 2: things considered, I think I did solid and showed that
- 9:16Speaker 2: I still got a lot.
- 9:17Speaker 1: Of ball left in me.
- 9:18Speaker 2: And I'm just excited to be able to build off
- 9:20Speaker 2: of that, excited to have an opportunity to be healthy.
- 9:22Speaker 2: And I don't take any of this for granted. Ever
- 9:25Speaker 2: after going through that, it's a blessing to be out
- 9:28Speaker 2: there every single day, So you know, I'm just having
- 9:30Speaker 2: that mindset, taking it one day at a time and
- 9:33Speaker 2: just not taking anything for granted. Jay loox Hunt, I
- 9:38Speaker 2: want to get to him because I know that he
- 9:41Speaker 2: was largely working against Fred Johnson, so context is required there.
- 9:45Speaker 2: But he's also given Jordan my lot of some work
- 9:47Speaker 2: and that was the case again and in this instance
- 9:50Speaker 2: he beat Fred Johnson storm through it would have been
- 9:54Speaker 2: a sack. There were a number of plays that Jay
- 9:56Speaker 2: when Hurts would have been sacked.
- 9:57Speaker 1: Today.
- 9:58Speaker 2: I did not think it was a particularly strong day
- 10:00Speaker 2: for the offense. But that's okay because they're they're working
- 10:03Speaker 2: through things and this is all new that that kind
- 10:06Speaker 2: of comes with the territory and really shouldn't be a
- 10:08Speaker 2: surprise to anyone.
- 10:10Speaker 1: But that Jay looks hunt stormed through.
- 10:13Speaker 2: He beat Fred Johnson on that play and Jaywhen held
- 10:16Speaker 2: the ball there and they let the play get get off.
- 10:18Speaker 2: But Hollywood Brown came out with the catch. I mentioned
- 10:21Speaker 2: Arnold Ebakati earlier on. But there was a play where
- 10:26Speaker 2: he charged. He read it perfectly, and he charged on
- 10:29Speaker 2: Tank Bigsby. It was a toss to the left and
- 10:32Speaker 2: he was just right there. He read it perfectly. Jaywhen
- 10:37Speaker 2: Carter again another player who it looks spry and quick
- 10:41Speaker 2: first step quickness. He looks to be in better shape
- 10:44Speaker 2: as I mentioned, compared to where he was last season.
- 10:48Speaker 2: Jayalen hurts in one instance in this eleven on seven,
- 10:50Speaker 2: eleven on eleven period, he checked it down to Saquon Barkley,
- 10:55Speaker 2: but Jayalen Carter was there to wrangle him up for
- 10:59Speaker 2: a minimum for a minimal pick up. Just so quick
- 11:02Speaker 2: and reads things rapidly. And I really do think, and
- 11:06Speaker 2: I go back to what I said a couple of
- 11:07Speaker 2: weeks ago and what I've said in the offseason, this
- 11:10Speaker 2: is going to be a really big year for Jay
- 11:11Speaker 2: When Carter he knows what's at stake, he knows how
- 11:14Speaker 2: important he is to this Eagles team. And I think
- 11:16Speaker 2: He's growing and evolving as we all do in life,
- 11:19Speaker 2: and that's something that I think playing alongside Jordan Davis.
- 11:24Speaker 2: Jordan Davis is a tremendous leader. When you see the
- 11:27Speaker 2: season that he had, and there's just a lot of
- 11:29Speaker 2: positive vibes there on the defensive side, and Jayalen Carter
- 11:33Speaker 2: made a ton of plays. Drew Kendall initially went in
- 11:37Speaker 2: at left guard for Landon Dickerson's just spotting him. He'd
- 11:41Speaker 2: just given him some some reps off there. Drew Kendall
- 11:43Speaker 2: is a player that the Eagles are high on. I've
- 11:46Speaker 2: gotten that sense. And then when you watch him on
- 11:48Speaker 2: the field, not only has he filled out his frame,
- 11:51Speaker 2: but they've they've really not you know, almost almost exclusively
- 11:56Speaker 2: because he did go in at center later on, but
- 11:59Speaker 2: they they've worked him at guard in the spring and
- 12:03Speaker 2: at this point right now, just trying to get him
- 12:06Speaker 2: familiar and comfortable there because the plan I would imagine
- 12:10Speaker 2: is that he's going to fulfill the role that Brett
- 12:12Speaker 2: Toath had last year as the interior backup on game day.
- 12:16Speaker 2: You know that he knows how to play center. That's
- 12:18Speaker 2: what he majored in at Boston College. That's what he's played,
- 12:22Speaker 2: but now it's about getting him familiar with the guard position,
- 12:25Speaker 2: and the Eagles have worked him in on the second team.
- 12:29Speaker 2: Jeremiah Trotter Junior is a player that whenever he gets
- 12:33Speaker 2: an opportunity, he tends to make the most of it.
- 12:36Speaker 1: He is such an instinctual player, a smart player.
- 12:39Speaker 2: He has a really good eye discipline and he always
- 12:42Speaker 2: seems to find the football. Those are certain intangibles that
- 12:47Speaker 2: he has that makes up for the lack of size
- 12:50Speaker 2: or the lack of blistering athleticism and speed that Jahad
- 12:53Speaker 2: Campbell might have. But there was one play where he
- 12:57Speaker 2: broke up a pass over the middle and it was
- 13:04Speaker 2: it was intended for.
- 13:07Speaker 1: I have to check my notes here. Just bear with
- 13:09Speaker 1: me one second. I'll find it.
- 13:16Speaker 2: But the play that there was one that Jalen Hurts
- 13:19Speaker 2: fired off of pass to the deep middle of the
- 13:21Speaker 2: field to Britain Covey, who there was a lot of
- 13:24Speaker 2: traffic around there and Jeremiah Trotter really got a hand
- 13:28Speaker 2: on Britain there and that forced the incompletion. That really
- 13:32Speaker 2: was a nice play by Trotter, who read that well.
- 13:36Speaker 2: Drew mccuba had some good plays. There was one instance
- 13:39Speaker 2: where Jalen was throwing to Mackay Lemon over the middle.
- 13:43Speaker 2: Maccuba charged in to break up the pass. This is
- 13:46Speaker 2: during a seven on seven period. Macooba read another short
- 13:49Speaker 2: screen pass exceptionally well on the ensuing play and he
- 13:53Speaker 2: tagged Darius Cooper for what would have been a loss.
- 13:56Speaker 2: Good couple of series there, good sequence from Drew mcoob
- 14:01Speaker 2: and I think that that's something that that can carry over.
- 14:07Speaker 2: Trotter Junior had another pass breakup in the middle in
- 14:10Speaker 2: in the end zone to It was a pass to
- 14:13Speaker 2: Makai Lemon.
- 14:15Speaker 1: Jalen hurts through it. He probably got there a little early.
- 14:19Speaker 2: They threw the flag on the play so so it
- 14:21Speaker 2: didn't count. But Trotter Junior, Yeah, I mean, he's just
- 14:26Speaker 2: someone who has a good feel for this, for this
- 14:28Speaker 2: defense and what he needs to do there. But there
- 14:32Speaker 2: was another play where he should have had a pick six.
- 14:35Speaker 2: He broke on the pass, knocked it away, he stepped
- 14:39Speaker 2: in front of it. He probably should have secured it
- 14:41Speaker 2: and he would have went the other way for for
- 14:42Speaker 2: what would have been a touchdown. But yeah, I mean
- 14:45Speaker 2: that that's a player that has made the most of
- 14:47Speaker 2: every opportunity that he's gotten. Last summer, he got a
- 14:50Speaker 2: lot of first team reps. If you remember, they were
- 14:52Speaker 2: easing Jahide Campbell back into the mix, who had the
- 14:55Speaker 2: offseason shoulder surgery coming off, you know, going into his
- 14:58Speaker 2: rookie season, and he got an opportunity today with joh
- 15:02Speaker 2: Hot Campbell not there.
- 15:03Speaker 1: And he's just.
- 15:04Speaker 2: A very active and fun practice player to watch. And
- 15:07Speaker 2: I believe, and I've said this and I still believe this,
- 15:10Speaker 2: that he can be a starting linebacker somewhere. Maybe it'll
- 15:13Speaker 2: be in Philadelphia down the line, but I do believe
- 15:16Speaker 2: that he has that ability to do that. Oh there,
- 15:21Speaker 2: it is the past that Trotter jumped that the one
- 15:23Speaker 2: that I just illustrated. It was a pass into the
- 15:25Speaker 2: flat to Tank Bigsby during eleven on elevens and he
- 15:30Speaker 2: did everything perfectly except corral the pass for what would
- 15:34Speaker 2: have been an interception. Cole Peyton made some nice throws today.
- 15:40Speaker 2: There was one that he really ripped in there to
- 15:42Speaker 2: Danny Gray. Danny Gray had a couple of nice receptions today.
- 15:46Speaker 2: Ques Watkins had a couple of nice receptions today. There
- 15:48Speaker 2: was another one that was sort of a deep shot
- 15:51Speaker 2: that it was it probably and I was on the
- 15:56Speaker 2: other side of the field. It looked like it was
- 15:58Speaker 2: overshot anyway, but Corey and Bennett sort of tackled Quez Watkins.
- 16:02Speaker 2: This was down the right sideline. It would have been
- 16:05Speaker 2: a touchdown. It was leading him into the end zone,
- 16:07Speaker 2: I think, and probably was a little bit too far.
- 16:10Speaker 2: But that was something that you know, you forget about
- 16:13Speaker 2: Quees Watkins, and he's a fascinating story in of itself.
- 16:16Speaker 2: He was the number three receiver on a team that
- 16:18Speaker 2: went to the Super Bowl, and then he was on
- 16:20Speaker 2: the practice squad last year. I don't think he's appeared
- 16:22Speaker 2: in the game since twenty twenty three, but the Eagles
- 16:24Speaker 2: like him. Nick Sirianni clearly likes him. He's in camp
- 16:27Speaker 2: and he knows how to separate. He does have the
- 16:29Speaker 2: speed still that hasn't changed. But another instance where Jaywen
- 16:36Speaker 2: Hurts went to Devonte Smith and it was sort of
- 16:39Speaker 2: a comeback play.
- 16:40Speaker 1: If I'm remembering this correctly.
- 16:42Speaker 2: We don't have the benefit of replay, so a lot
- 16:44Speaker 2: of it you're going off your initial viewing.
- 16:46Speaker 1: But QUINNYA. Mitchells took him down.
- 16:48Speaker 2: But on that play, Jay when Carter collapsed the pocket
- 16:51Speaker 2: to get home, that would have.
- 16:51Speaker 1: Been a sack on that play.
- 16:54Speaker 2: He tried deep Jaywen, then tried deep down the right
- 16:56Speaker 2: sideline to mkay Lemon. It was a little long Cooper
- 16:59Speaker 2: to Sheen. Cooper was defending. McKay had a little bit.
- 17:03Speaker 2: He had a half step on Cooper. If the ball
- 17:04Speaker 2: was placed a little bit better, it probably goes for
- 17:08Speaker 2: a big connection there. Then Jalen connects with Don Tavian
- 17:11Speaker 2: Wicks over the middle. It was a slant route. Michael Carter,
- 17:14Speaker 2: the second provided tight coverage on the play and I
- 17:18Speaker 2: thought that he, you know, he was sort of in
- 17:20Speaker 2: his hip pocket there, but the ball was placed perfectly.
- 17:23Speaker 2: Mac McWilliams is a player we don't talk about often,
- 17:26Speaker 2: but he had a couple of nice plays late in practice.
- 17:28Speaker 2: He jumped the Tanner McKee pass who was throwing it
- 17:31Speaker 2: to Eli Stowers. It affected the incompletion. There was the
- 17:38Speaker 2: play before that he jumped the middle of the field
- 17:42Speaker 2: throw to Stours and that probably should have been an interception.
- 17:46Speaker 2: But it's nice to see mac McWilliams get out there
- 17:48Speaker 2: and make some plays, get a hand on the ball.
- 17:50Speaker 1: He has really good quickness, a good feel.
- 17:52Speaker 2: For spacing, and I think now what you're seeing as
- 17:56Speaker 2: a player who in a second season looks to be
- 17:58Speaker 2: a little bit more comfortable with what he's asked to
- 18:01Speaker 2: do in this defense, with what his responsibilities are, and
- 18:05Speaker 2: that sort of was reflected in his ability to kind
- 18:08Speaker 2: of charge on the football.
- 18:09Speaker 1: It didn't look like doesn't look like he's thinking as
- 18:11Speaker 1: much right now.
- 18:13Speaker 2: And before that play, Jay looks Hunt beat Fred Johnson
- 18:17Speaker 2: off the edge, and you know he would have wrapped
- 18:20Speaker 2: up Jay when hurts for a sack. There. The defensive
- 18:23Speaker 2: line just got a lot of pressure and you always
- 18:26Speaker 2: have to remember that in Saturday's case, Fred Johnson was
- 18:29Speaker 2: the right tackle lane. Johnson wasn't out there, so that
- 18:32Speaker 2: needs to be taken into the taken into the equation here.
- 18:36Speaker 2: But yeah, I mean Cole Payton had a couple of
- 18:39Speaker 2: nice throws today as well, so he had a nice
- 18:42Speaker 2: rebound from the shaky Day two practice.
- 18:45Speaker 1: And you guys know me well enough now.
- 18:49Speaker 2: I don't make too much off of a practice or
- 18:52Speaker 2: a first few days. But this is all part of
- 18:54Speaker 2: the process of a young developmental quarterback. It's the ebbs
- 18:57Speaker 2: and flows that come with it. And there's gonna be
- 18:59Speaker 2: days where.
- 19:01Speaker 1: He flashes with a couple of nice throws.
- 19:03Speaker 2: And then there's gonna be others where there's gonna be misfires,
- 19:06Speaker 2: there's gonna be some mechanical issues, there may be some interceptions.
- 19:10Speaker 2: But I don't jump to conclusions and I don't sound
- 19:13Speaker 2: the alarm. I can see the ability and potential that
- 19:17Speaker 2: he has. There was also a designed quarterback run that
- 19:19Speaker 2: he had, and he's kind of interesting to watch when
- 19:21Speaker 2: he takes off up the middle because he he gets
- 19:25Speaker 2: down a little bit, he crouches down, and he has
- 19:28Speaker 2: really good athleticism.
- 19:29Speaker 1: That's really one of his primary attributes.
- 19:31Speaker 2: So he he's getting more reps than Kyle McCord or
- 19:37Speaker 2: then some of the other number four quarterbacks in over
- 19:40Speaker 2: past years, so that's something that is notable. He's just
- 19:44Speaker 2: a really interesting developmental quarterback, and developmental is the optimal
- 19:48Speaker 2: term here.
- 19:49Speaker 1: It's not gonna be an overnight fix.
- 19:50Speaker 2: It's not gonna be an over and he's not gonna
- 19:52Speaker 2: be an overnight sensation or anything like that. But you
- 19:55Speaker 2: can see the qualities that he has that intrigues the Eagles,
- 19:57Speaker 2: and I'm curious to see where he lands ends ten
- 20:01Speaker 2: days from now, two weeks into camp, and if he's
- 20:04Speaker 2: able to progress in a positive way there.
- 20:07Speaker 1: But yeah, I mean Darius Cooper is going to be.
- 20:11Speaker 2: A player that you're going to keep an eye on
- 20:12Speaker 2: here because I think he kind of gets lost in
- 20:16Speaker 2: the mix a little bit because you have Johnny Wilson
- 20:18Speaker 2: returning Britain, Cubby's there. There's a lot of names and
- 20:22Speaker 2: you're not quite sure. We're not quite sure how many
- 20:25Speaker 2: wide receivers Eagles are going to keep. But what I
- 20:27Speaker 2: can tell you is that he's someone that he makes
- 20:32Speaker 2: a play every day. He's very consistent. He catches the
- 20:34Speaker 2: ball cleanly and I think that that goes a long way.
- 20:38Speaker 2: And everything that he's been asked to do, whether it's
- 20:40Speaker 2: play special teams, play gunner, be the primary blocker on
- 20:45Speaker 2: a kick return, He's done all that and he checks
- 20:47Speaker 2: off those boxes.
- 20:48Speaker 1: He's a selfless player.
- 20:50Speaker 2: I have kind of a fun Darius Cooper comment later
- 20:53Speaker 2: here as we start to wrap things up. But it's
- 20:57Speaker 2: also important to know that every practice is different.
- 21:00Speaker 1: And while there's a lot of under center.
- 21:02Speaker 2: Play action, middle of the field, throws, motion and all
- 21:05Speaker 2: those things that Sean Manning is going to bring to
- 21:07Speaker 2: this offense, on Saturday, there was a lot more shotgun
- 21:11Speaker 2: than we've seen through the first couple of practices, and
- 21:16Speaker 2: a lot of it is situational based without knowing the
- 21:21Speaker 2: plan of the day, and the Eagles were clearly working
- 21:23Speaker 2: on certain down in distances on Saturday, so that certainly
- 21:28Speaker 2: factors into it a little bit. But the defense was
- 21:30Speaker 2: swarming at all three levels, and I think what you
- 21:34Speaker 2: see is the chemistry really manifesting in all three levels
- 21:38Speaker 2: being in constant communication. They're working in unison and they
- 21:42Speaker 2: have a really good read on what the offense is
- 21:44Speaker 2: trying to do. I did think that all the quarterbacks
- 21:47Speaker 2: really held the ball it tick longer today, and again
- 21:50Speaker 2: without having the benefit of replay, it's difficult to.
- 21:55Speaker 1: Gauge.
- 21:56Speaker 2: Maybe there were other reasons for that. Maybe there was
- 22:00Speaker 2: nothing open and there was no one open. Maybe there
- 22:03Speaker 2: was the routes were slow developing. Without without having seen
- 22:07Speaker 2: seen the replay or having to talk to Jayalen himself
- 22:11Speaker 2: and ask him about it, there's no real way of knowing.
- 22:13Speaker 2: But I did think that they held the ball a
- 22:15Speaker 2: little bit too long, and the defensive line was able
- 22:18Speaker 2: to get home for a lot of would be sacks.
- 22:20Speaker 1: But of course he let the play get off and
- 22:23Speaker 1: and things like that. But yeah, I mean.
- 22:30Speaker 2: Britain Covey and Darius Brittain Covey, Ques Watkins, and Danny Gray. Really,
- 22:34Speaker 2: Britain Covey's had a couple of really nice moments in camp,
- 22:37Speaker 2: catching the football. He worked with the first n second team.
- 22:42Speaker 2: He sprinkled in a little bit. I mentioned Darius Cooper
- 22:45Speaker 2: getting more first team reps than Johnny Wilson, which is
- 22:48Speaker 2: something notable. Maybe it was just a byproduct of the
- 22:51Speaker 2: day or the plan that they had for that day,
- 22:54Speaker 2: and who knows, maybe Monday it's Johnny Wilson. But it
- 22:56Speaker 2: is something that I wrote down in my notebook and
- 22:58Speaker 2: we'll be keeping an eye on. That's really the notes
- 23:03Speaker 2: that I have. I have a couple of fun comments here.
- 23:06Speaker 2: I'm a big music fan, notably of eighties classic rock,
- 23:09Speaker 2: so I appreciate it hear in Kenny Loggins's nineteen eighty
- 23:11Speaker 2: six hit danger Zone and Consecutive Practices. I'm also a
- 23:15Speaker 2: huge fan of Rita's water ice, but for whatever reason,
- 23:18Speaker 2: I generally skip the water ice truck, which is parked
- 23:21Speaker 2: right inside the entrance to training camp. But today was
- 23:24Speaker 2: a hot day I wanted to. I just felt in
- 23:26Speaker 2: the mood to grab one. They happen to have my
- 23:28Speaker 2: favorite flavor, which is green apple. And as I'm in
- 23:31Speaker 2: line behind me is Darius Cooper, and I think someone
- 23:37Speaker 2: asked him what his favorite flavor was and he said
- 23:39Speaker 2: blue raspberry, and I said, you got to try the
- 23:41Speaker 2: green apple, and I get my green apple, and then
- 23:45Speaker 2: I hear him say, I'm gonna try the green apple today.
- 23:47Speaker 1: So I have to if I if I get a
- 23:49Speaker 1: chance to.
- 23:50Speaker 2: Talk to him or see him in passing or whatever
- 23:53Speaker 2: after maybe after one of the preseason games, I might
- 23:55Speaker 2: ask him. I say, hey, man, what'd you think of
- 23:57Speaker 2: my recommendation? But that is my absolute favorite flat of
- 24:00Speaker 2: Rita's water ice.
- 24:01Speaker 1: And those are.
- 24:02Speaker 2: Kind of my two fun spins on the end of
- 24:06Speaker 2: a Saturday practice that I thought was very eventful, a
- 24:08Speaker 2: little bit hotter than.
- 24:09Speaker 1: The first couple of days. But we'll we'll see where
- 24:13Speaker 1: things go.
- 24:14Speaker 2: And then Sunday the Eagles are it's a player's day off.
- 24:17Speaker 2: They return to the practice field on Monday. I should
- 24:21Speaker 2: add that before practice, offensive coordinator Sean Mannion spoke and
- 24:25Speaker 2: players that spoke after practice, I read for you some
- 24:28Speaker 2: of the things that Marcus EPs had to say. But
- 24:30Speaker 2: in addition, Hollywood Brown Landon Dickerson, Mackay Lemon, Drew mccouba,
- 24:35Speaker 2: and Dontavian Wicks.
- 24:37Speaker 1: That's going to do it for this episode of The
- 24:38Speaker 1: check O Daily.
- 24:39Speaker 2: I'm Andrew Ducheco and I'll catch you all on the
- 24:42Speaker 2: next one.
