- 0:00Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, DUA, concluded
- 0:032025 with a major milestone in Dubai's clean
- 0:08energy journey, adding 1 ,000 MW of clean energy
- 0:12production capacity. This achievement is part
- 0:15of the progress in the 1 ,800 MW sixth phase
- 0:19of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park,
- 0:22reflecting DUA's commitment to accelerating renewable
- 0:25energy projects in line with the highest international
- 0:28standards. His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Altea,
- 0:32MD and CEO of DEWA, affirmed that this achievement
- 0:37highlights DEWA's dedication to realizing the
- 0:40vision and directives of His Highness Sheikh
- 0:43Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President
- 0:46and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai,
- 0:49to accelerate the transition to renewable energy
- 0:52sources and reinforce Dubai's position as a global
- 0:56leader in sustainability and innovation. within
- 0:59the energy sector. He added that the project
- 1:02demonstrates long -term planning and phased implementation,
- 1:06supporting the resilience of the energy system
- 1:08while meeting the demands of economic growth
- 1:11and sustainable development. Altair explained
- 1:15that this milestone aligns with the UAE's Net
- 1:18Zero 2050 strategy and the Dubai Clean Energy
- 1:21Strategy 2050, which aims to provide 100 % of
- 1:26energy production capacity from clean sources
- 1:29by mid -century. It reinforces Dubai's position
- 1:32as a global model for transitioning to a green
- 1:36economy founded on sustainability and innovation.
- 1:39The achievement also marks a significant step
- 1:42in the rapid expansion of DUA's renewable energy
- 1:45projects, reflecting its commitment to increasing
- 1:49the share of clean energy, enhancing the readiness
- 1:52of Dubai's energy system to meet population and
- 1:55economic growth. and establishing a sustainable
- 1:58energy production model based on innovation and
- 2:02operational efficiency. Launched by His Highness
- 2:05Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum in 2012,
- 2:09the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park
- 2:11is one of the UAE's most strategic projects supporting
- 2:15the shift to a sustainable future driven by renewable
- 2:19and clean energy. The solar park's total production
- 2:23capacity has now reached 3 ,860 megawatts, and
- 2:28by 2030 it is expected to exceed 8 ,000 megawatts
- 2:32compared to the original plan of 5 ,000 megawatts.
- 2:36This demonstrates Dubai's accelerated ambition
- 2:39to increase the share of clean energy in its
- 2:42energy mix, reduce carbon emissions by more than
- 2:468 .5 million tons annually, and strengthen the
- 2:50Emirate's position as a global hub for a green
- 2:53economy based on knowledge and innovation. DUA's
- 2:57efforts to expand clean energy capacity continue.
- 3:00In 2025, it tendered for the seventh phase of
- 3:04the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park,
- 3:07while the remaining 800 megawatts of the sixth
- 3:09phase is scheduled to come online by quarter
- 3:12four, 2026.
