- 1:21Speaker 2: Good for you. Hunting, fishing, conservation, cooking strengths and weaknesses.
- 1:26Speaker 3: For you, cooking strength, conservation, middle of the ground. I
- 1:32Speaker 3: would say hunting. I've never been hunting. Okay, I've been
- 1:36Speaker 3: fishing a lot. But what it was the other one?
- 1:39Speaker 2: That's all you got?
- 1:40Speaker 6: Okay.
- 1:41Speaker 2: Yeah, welcome to the show, Brianna. Max also joining us.
- 1:44Speaker 2: He was gone for a while playing dad. How you doing,
- 1:46Speaker 2: Max doing well? Welcome back?
- 1:48Speaker 6: Yeah, thank you, thank you.
- 1:50Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:50Speaker 6: Being a dad's great. It's a lot of fun.
- 1:53Speaker 2: Is it what you expected?
- 1:54Speaker 6: No, I don't think no one prepared me for like
- 1:58Speaker 6: the lack of slate.
- 2:00Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 2:00Speaker 5: I feel like that's something that everybody knows about.
- 2:02Speaker 6: Yes, yeah, I mean everybody knows. They'll tell you that
- 2:06Speaker 6: and you're like, oh, yeah, like whatever.
- 2:07Speaker 4: When you're actually experiencing it, though, it's a differents Like
- 2:11Speaker 4: just last night.
- 2:11Speaker 1: I was up from like two to three thirty. Yeah,
- 2:16Speaker 1: so it's like it's pretty difficult. So but yeah, he's
- 2:19Speaker 1: doing great, eating, sleeping, pooping, doing all the good things.
- 2:23Speaker 7: So it's like that.
- 2:25Speaker 2: We'll see if if Max has dad brain on trivia
- 2:28Speaker 2: or not.
- 2:29Speaker 6: Alex told me I could use that for excuse. I'm
- 2:31Speaker 6: not going to try that.
- 2:32Speaker 2: That'll work a while.
- 2:32Speaker 5: We'll see, all right.
- 2:33Speaker 2: We'll start today's show with a mail bag question. If
- 2:35Speaker 2: you have a question you want the crew to answer,
- 2:37Speaker 2: then send your question to Trivia at the meadeater dot
- 2:40Speaker 2: com with the subject line mail Bag. Adam E says,
- 2:43Speaker 2: I'm going on a four day hunting trip into the
- 2:45Speaker 2: mountains of the PNW for blacktail and bear with a
- 2:48Speaker 2: buddy in late October. He's an experienced outdoorsman and I'm
- 2:51Speaker 2: a greenhorn when it comes to backpacking. I'm a self
- 2:54Speaker 2: taught hunter, but have never done in overnight or He's
- 2:57Speaker 2: been a great mentor. But what advice can you get
- 3:00Speaker 2: me that I can have pre loaded in my head
- 3:02Speaker 2: for the trip? Yanni, what do you got for Adam M?
- 3:06Speaker 7: I wish I knew if Adam was looking for hunting
- 3:08Speaker 7: advice for you know, deep in the back on tree
- 3:11Speaker 7: or more for backpacking.
- 3:12Speaker 2: He didn't ask about gear, but I imagine he would take
- 3:15Speaker 2: any gear advice, any mental advice you have for him?
- 3:18Speaker 7: What did you take it? What kind of advice do
- 3:20Speaker 7: you think he's looking for.
- 3:22Speaker 2: I think he just wants like a couple tips that
- 3:25Speaker 2: he hasn't read online that you know he's He's not
- 3:30Speaker 2: something from someone who spent a lot of nights in
- 3:32Speaker 2: the mountains like you, Yanni, that's what he wants.
- 3:35Speaker 7: Well. On the topic of gear, less is more, okay,
- 3:39Speaker 7: ditch the crocs. You don't need camp shoes because when
- 3:42Speaker 7: you go to bed, you're just gonna take your boots
- 3:44Speaker 7: off and get in your ditch. All the extras. Really
- 3:47Speaker 7: look at every piece of gear and think, do I
- 3:49Speaker 7: have a really good two or maybe three reasons to
- 3:52Speaker 7: bring this item along? And if you can't come up
- 3:55Speaker 7: with at least two, then just leave it. You can
- 3:57Speaker 7: probably just just look at all your clothes and take
- 4:00Speaker 7: away two layers. You're still gonna be fine because you
- 4:02Speaker 7: have a sleeping bag with you. Less is more, you're
- 4:05Speaker 7: gonna be carrying it around all the time. And pound
- 4:08Speaker 7: what do they say, ounces add up to pounds and
- 4:10Speaker 7: pounds add up to pain.
- 4:12Speaker 2: Okay, that's perfect advice, Jannie, Well done, Well Thankspcer Marcus Logan,
- 4:17Speaker 2: what do you got for Adam?
- 4:18Speaker 5: I got one, Uh, bring a book maybe not physical
- 4:23Speaker 5: if you want to watch weight, bring an ebook on
- 4:25Speaker 5: your phone or something. But you're liable to get rained
- 4:28Speaker 5: in at least one day possibly and you're stuck in
- 4:30Speaker 5: your tent all day long. If for some reason that's
- 4:32Speaker 5: nasty and narl and you're not going out there, especially
- 4:34Speaker 5: I guess Pacific Northwest.
- 4:35Speaker 2: NW in late October that could be up there.
- 4:38Speaker 5: So have a little something. If you get stuck in
- 4:41Speaker 5: the tent for an extended period, there you go, Logan.
- 4:44Speaker 8: You know, honestly, don't do too much backpacking hunting. I
- 4:48Speaker 8: have seen some places other people choose to camp and
- 4:51Speaker 8: it's like right where all the elk are, and I
- 4:53Speaker 8: feel like that tends to throw them off, like your
- 4:56Speaker 8: sense in that area. So like, I don't know, for me, personally,
- 4:59Speaker 8: I try not to camp like where I know the
- 5:02Speaker 8: elk r I'm not like camping in them. I'm camping
- 5:04Speaker 8: kind of like off to the side where my sins
- 5:07Speaker 8: not blowing into them. Personally, I don't know.
- 5:10Speaker 2: If that's any other advice for Adam on his first
- 5:13Speaker 2: backpacking overnighter.
- 5:15Speaker 6: Download your ONX maps there you.
- 5:17Speaker 9: Go, scout out potential water sources. Don't camp too far
- 5:22Speaker 9: away from water source if that's possible, scout out hunt areas.
- 5:27Speaker 9: Even get boots on the ground beforehand before the actual
- 5:30Speaker 9: hunt days would be best case scenario.
- 5:33Speaker 2: There you go, all right, good luck at him. Okay,
- 5:35Speaker 2: we have some housekeeping to get to. In a previous episode,
- 5:38Speaker 2: we had a trivia question about the price of a
- 5:40Speaker 2: federal duck stamp. The correct answer was what maxwell twenty
- 5:45Speaker 2: five dollars, but a couple dozen listeners wrote in saying
- 5:49Speaker 2: that it costs more than that, with prices ranging from
- 5:51Speaker 2: twenty nine to thirty one dollars. Some even sent pictures
- 5:55Speaker 2: of their receipts to prove it. But those listeners were
- 5:58Speaker 2: buying their duck stamp through state agencies, which tend to
- 6:01Speaker 2: charge administrative fees. That extra four to six dollars is
- 6:05Speaker 2: not part of the price of a duck stamp. If
- 6:08Speaker 2: you want to pay the flat twenty five dollars price,
- 6:10Speaker 2: then go get your duck stamp in person at the
- 6:12Speaker 2: post office or by the digital duck stamp through duck
- 6:16Speaker 2: stamp dot com. You can even see on this year's
- 6:18Speaker 2: duck stamp. In the last few years. They just put
- 6:20Speaker 2: twenty five dollars right on there. That's a that's a
- 6:23Speaker 2: twenty five dollars item. Maxwell. Have you bought your duck
- 6:26Speaker 2: stamp yet?
- 6:27Speaker 6: I have not, but that's a great reminder.
- 6:29Speaker 2: You like to go into the physical location buyers or yeah.
- 6:32Speaker 1: I like to get physical ones, and I always just
- 6:34Speaker 1: grab a couple extra because there's always that one buddy
- 6:37Speaker 1: that will.
- 6:38Speaker 6: Text you the night before you go hut and hey,
- 6:40Speaker 6: I don't have a duck stamp.
- 6:41Speaker 1: Good for you, and like, yeah, you can just have
- 6:44Speaker 1: them sign it, have them veeno you twenty five bucks,
- 6:47Speaker 1: or he can just always buy it online. But yeah,
- 6:50Speaker 1: I tookically buy one for me, my wife and my
- 6:52Speaker 1: dog every year.
- 6:53Speaker 2: There you go, and now Rocky at home. Oh yeah, conservation.
- 7:00Speaker 7: All right.
- 7:01Speaker 2: Today's episode is brought to you by Canam and thanks
- 7:03Speaker 2: to them, you are getting some extra trivia this week
- 7:06Speaker 2: between questions five and six. Next to our friends of Canam.
- 7:09Speaker 2: All right, the Shelby Index for today is a five,
- 7:12Speaker 2: so I'm putting us on perfect score alert. With that,
- 7:15Speaker 2: we're onto the game of trivia. Play the drop fill.
- 7:19Speaker 1: Look, I need to know what I stand under?
- 7:22Speaker 2: Whim to everything How's that just tend to win everything?
- 7:33Speaker 6: Demon Suckers?
- 7:35Speaker 2: Question one. The topic is hunting. Which of these states
- 7:39Speaker 2: has the most elk Nevada, Kentucky, New Mexico? Organ? Oh,
- 7:50Speaker 2: which of these states has the most elk? Your four choices, Nevada, Kentucky,
- 7:56Speaker 2: New Mexico or Organ. Here's something else relevant for today's episode.
- 8:02Speaker 2: The pill in phil index is a nine. He told me,
- 8:06Speaker 2: geez who the best game? Phil would say he's ever
- 8:10Speaker 2: done in what two hundred and fifty episodes? So this
- 8:13Speaker 2: is maybe either the easiest episode or the philliest episode
- 8:17Speaker 2: we'll find out. Of these states, which has the most elk? Nevada, Kentucky,
- 8:24Speaker 2: New Mexico, Organ, No quick answers in the room.
- 8:30Speaker 5: This one seems like a little tricky. I'm surprised that
- 8:33Speaker 5: this is included in this, Like, gimme Mark.
- 8:36Speaker 4: This is the one I got incorrect?
- 8:38Speaker 2: Oh, it's everybody ready, go ahead and reveal your answers. Yanni,
- 8:47Speaker 2: he says, New Mexico, Mark Organ, Logan, Organ, John Organ,
- 8:53Speaker 2: Brianna Organ, Maxwell Organ, the correct answer It is Oregon, Yanni.
- 9:04Speaker 6: Everybody but the elk off in the whole.
- 9:07Speaker 2: There are as many elk in Oregon as the other
- 9:10Speaker 2: states combined. No, Oregon has one hundred and thirty three
- 9:14Speaker 2: thousand ELK. New Mexico has eighty thousand, Nevada has eighteen thousand,
- 9:19Speaker 2: and Kentucky has thirteen thousand. Oregon has the third most
- 9:23Speaker 2: ELK in the United States.
- 9:25Speaker 3: I was just thinking about all those mountains and we're
- 9:27Speaker 3: just talking.
- 9:28Speaker 2: About Yeah, get him brand.
- 9:31Speaker 7: Phil say, I said, New Mexico.
- 9:34Speaker 8: Yeah, I just feel like a lot of like residents
- 9:36Speaker 8: of Oregon get taggs pretty regularly. Seems like those other states,
- 9:39Speaker 8: you have to.
- 9:39Speaker 2: At apply not a elk habitat there. Question two. The
- 9:42Speaker 2: topic is conservation. This is our listener question of the Week,
- 9:45Speaker 2: which was won by Adam Smith for sending this great question.
- 9:49Speaker 2: Adam is going to get a one hundred and fifty
- 9:50Speaker 2: dollars first like gift card. If you want a chance
- 9:53Speaker 2: to win the Listener Question of the Week, then send
- 9:55Speaker 2: your question to Trivia at the medeater dot com. Historians
- 9:59Speaker 2: say that the construction of this Italian stadium contributed to
- 10:04Speaker 2: the extinction of several animal species across Europe and Africa.
- 10:13Speaker 2: Max and Mark already have their answers. Historians say that
- 10:17Speaker 2: the construction of this Italian stadium contributed to the extinction
- 10:21Speaker 2: of several animal species across Europe and Africa.
- 10:25Speaker 8: See, I feel like now that Mark lives here, there's
- 10:27Speaker 8: gonna be some I don't know how many game rounds
- 10:30Speaker 8: with trivia one Mark, but I feel like we've got
- 10:32Speaker 8: a new like heavy hitter.
- 10:34Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, we could use a shake, put the kind
- 10:37Speaker 5: of pressure on it.
- 10:38Speaker 2: I'd slide Mark in there right at the Yonnie level
- 10:40Speaker 2: of competitiveness and trivia. So that's it's fun that we've
- 10:44Speaker 2: added that kind of player to the mix.
- 10:46Speaker 5: This is the first time that I've ever been able
- 10:48Speaker 5: to defend my title, never been in a back to
- 10:51Speaker 5: back trivia games before.
- 10:53Speaker 2: So again we're on question to you. Historians say that
- 10:56Speaker 2: the construction of this Italian stadium contributed to the extinction
- 10:59Speaker 2: of several animal species across Europe and Africa. Is everybody ready,
- 11:05Speaker 2: Joe ahead and reveal your answers. We have Yanni saying
- 11:09Speaker 2: the Pantheon, Mark and Logan and John and Brianna and
- 11:14Speaker 2: Maxwell say the Colisseum. They got it.
- 11:17Speaker 7: The correct.
- 11:20Speaker 2: Is the Colisseum. Yes for spelling, it's cool. O S
- 11:26Speaker 2: S e U M.
- 11:28Speaker 7: Coliseum is the Pantheon also a great, big, giant.
- 11:31Speaker 2: Stadium, probably, but I don't think it's it's it's in
- 11:35Speaker 2: a different country. The Colisseum was built about two thousand
- 11:39Speaker 2: years ago. Large animals played a significant role in Colisseum entertainment,
- 11:43Speaker 2: with the stadium hosting staged hunts, animal versus animal combat
- 11:48Speaker 2: and human versus animal combat. Romans shipped in exotic wildlife
- 11:53Speaker 2: from across the world, including leopards, rhinos, hippos, tigers, bears, wolves, elephants,
- 11:58Speaker 2: and more. It's estimated that nine thousand animals died in
- 12:02Speaker 2: the arena within the first one hundred days. Some now
- 12:05Speaker 2: extinct species that performed in the coliseum include the North
- 12:09Speaker 2: African elephant, Caspian tiger, Barbary lion, and Atlas bear. There
- 12:15Speaker 2: is the last photo ever taken of a Barbary lion
- 12:18Speaker 2: in the wild. I was taken in the Atlas Mountains
- 12:21Speaker 2: in nineteen twenty five. There's a few left today in captivity,
- 12:23Speaker 2: but in the wild they are extinct, and those lions
- 12:27Speaker 2: played a lot of games in the coliseum for some
- 12:31Speaker 2: very entertained romans.
- 12:34Speaker 6: Wow, I looked it up.
- 12:35Speaker 4: The Pantheon is in Italy, but it's a temple not
- 12:37Speaker 4: a question.
- 12:39Speaker 7: Three.
- 12:39Speaker 2: The topic is fishing. Fly Fisherman magazine says that fishing
- 12:45Speaker 2: from a SUP, which stands for blank, blank blank is
- 12:50Speaker 2: quote about as pure a form of fly fishing from
- 12:53Speaker 2: a floating craft as you can get.
- 12:58Speaker 8: This has been so far the easiest round.
- 13:01Speaker 6: Okay, I am in lock.
- 13:04Speaker 3: I was nervous.
- 13:06Speaker 2: Fly Fisherman Magazine says that fishing from a s up,
- 13:11Speaker 2: which stands for blank blank blank, is about as pure
- 13:15Speaker 2: a form of fly fishing from a floating craft as
- 13:18Speaker 2: you can get.
- 13:19Speaker 5: I feel like knowing that this is a ten hypothetical
- 13:24Speaker 5: store puts so much pressure on every single question.
- 13:26Speaker 2: You get me wrong, it might be.
- 13:28Speaker 1: Out well, imagine getting too wrong right off the bat.
- 13:34Speaker 4: Sorry, bunny, you have written on the back of your
- 13:36Speaker 4: shirt there.
- 13:37Speaker 6: Oh it's a custom T shirt.
- 13:40Speaker 7: Yeah, you want to show the camera.
- 13:42Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 13:43Speaker 2: Yeah, Oh, drakes don't quack and a bush lights on?
- 13:52Speaker 6: Yeah. Yeah.
- 13:54Speaker 1: Over my month oppaternity, if I had some spare time
- 13:58Speaker 1: on my hands and I decided to get a little creative, there.
- 14:01Speaker 2: You go, sup, is everybody ready? Oh my answers are
- 14:07Speaker 2: Go ahead and reveal your answers. Stand up, paddle board
- 14:10Speaker 2: The whole room says stand up paddle board. The whole
- 14:13Speaker 2: room got it right. It's a stand up paddle board.
- 14:16Speaker 2: According to twenty nineteen data, about eleven million Americans own
- 14:20Speaker 2: a kayak, nine million own a canoe, and four million
- 14:23Speaker 2: own a paddle board. The modern stand up paddle board
- 14:26Speaker 2: was created in Hawaii in the nineteen forties. Its popularity
- 14:29Speaker 2: has grown so much in the last decade that it's
- 14:31Speaker 2: now being considered as a potential Olympic sport for twenty
- 14:35Speaker 2: thirty two.
- 14:36Speaker 6: And all that I'm doing Yeah, okay, not well but
- 14:41Speaker 6: a little bit. Yeah, did you fallen?
- 14:43Speaker 5: I have fallen in not while fishing, but I was
- 14:46Speaker 5: on my way to fish, and I was standing up
- 14:50Speaker 5: trying to see my son. He was off on a kayaks.
- 14:52Speaker 5: So so I'm looking around trying to see my son.
- 14:54Speaker 5: Wasn't paying attention to the to a wave coming my
- 14:57Speaker 5: way from a speedbolt going yeah, caught me on aware
- 15:00Speaker 5: and went right on my right in the lake.
- 15:03Speaker 2: Su Pie stand up paddle board question for the topic
- 15:06Speaker 2: is woodsmanship. This next great question is via Kurt Hostedler.
- 15:11Speaker 2: This twelve letter word is defined as quote a person
- 15:14Speaker 2: who draws or produces maps twelve letter word is defined
- 15:24Speaker 2: as a person who draws or produces maps. Brianna was
- 15:31Speaker 2: very excited when she heard that question.
- 15:35Speaker 8: Coming back to stand up paddle boards. I have also
- 15:37Speaker 8: fallen off one of those, but I caught a fish
- 15:40Speaker 8: and it was it was the coolest experience because I
- 15:42Speaker 8: caught a fish and it was like way bigger than
- 15:44Speaker 8: I was expecting it to be, and I I just
- 15:47Speaker 8: fell off still had the fish on the line.
- 15:50Speaker 7: Lost this hat.
- 15:50Speaker 8: This is the third hat, one of the exact ones.
- 15:53Speaker 8: One of them is lost in a lake somewhere. But
- 15:56Speaker 8: it was pretty incredible, Like was it was literally pulling
- 15:58Speaker 8: me around?
- 15:59Speaker 7: What'd you catch a big trout?
- 16:01Speaker 8: But like it's momentum, like literally pulled me on the
- 16:03Speaker 8: paddle board.
- 16:04Speaker 7: It was pretty cool.
- 16:04Speaker 5: That's great.
- 16:06Speaker 2: This twelve letter word is defined as a person who
- 16:09Speaker 2: draws or produces maps.
- 16:11Speaker 7: Sounds, real pure logan. Was it on a fly?
- 16:15Speaker 8: No?
- 16:15Speaker 2: Oh good, No, there's a spinning rod, Max and logan.
- 16:22Speaker 7: Your spare time you had, you would have gone for
- 16:24Speaker 7: some like ducks roosts and maybe listen to ducks making
- 16:27Speaker 7: ducks sounds.
- 16:29Speaker 6: Do that in my sleep.
- 16:31Speaker 2: It's everybody ready, Yeah, go ahead and reveal your answers
- 16:35Speaker 2: Yiannis cartographer, Mark cartographer, Logan, cartographer John without an answer
- 16:42Speaker 2: Brianna cartographer Maxwell, mapologists. The correct answer is cartographer. A
- 16:51Speaker 2: modern cartographer mostly works with interactive digital maps. The largest
- 16:56Speaker 2: employers of cartographers are government agencies, tech companies, engineering firms,
- 17:01Speaker 2: defense specialists, and academic institutions. The average salary for a
- 17:05Speaker 2: cartographer in the United States is seventy eight thousand dollars.
- 17:10Speaker 2: Question five, the topic is cooking. This next great question
- 17:13Speaker 2: is via Joe Furuseth. This term is defined as quote
- 17:18Speaker 2: the specific temperature at which a cooking oil stops shimmering
- 17:22Speaker 2: and begins to produce visible fumes. This term is defined
- 17:32Speaker 2: as the specific temperature at which a cooking oil stops
- 17:36Speaker 2: shimmering and begins to produce visible fumes. Brianna got her
- 17:43Speaker 2: cooking question. Do you have this one right, Brianna? I
- 17:46Speaker 2: think so okay, Mark, who has a perfect game going,
- 17:50Speaker 2: currently has a blank whiteboard. Yeah, the perfect game is
- 17:53Speaker 2: Don Logan also has a perfect game going, he has
- 17:57Speaker 2: his whiteboard down. Do you have this one, Logan?
- 18:00Speaker 8: I should Yeah. I talk about it a lot, so.
- 18:06Speaker 2: I can't wait to hear the hobby.
- 18:09Speaker 8: This term healthy cooking.
- 18:11Speaker 2: This term oil is defined as the specific temperature at
- 18:15Speaker 2: which a cooking oil stops shimmering and begins to produce
- 18:19Speaker 2: visible fumes. Johanny, you got this one?
- 18:24Speaker 7: I do. I've been cooking with the jar bear grease
- 18:28Speaker 7: that Jimmy Ronella gave me that he won after shooting
- 18:32Speaker 7: all of us.
- 18:32Speaker 2: He gave it to you. I saw you drive away
- 18:35Speaker 2: with it, and I was like, what's going on there?
- 18:36Speaker 7: Mm hmm? I said, are you going to use that?
- 18:39Speaker 7: He's like ah, I'm like, I don't want to see
- 18:41Speaker 7: it go to waste. And then his dad was like,
- 18:43Speaker 7: give it to him. We got plenty good for I
- 18:50Speaker 7: don't know. I've never had one.
- 18:52Speaker 8: Well, I've got a bunch of fair grease that if
- 18:54Speaker 8: anyone wants.
- 18:55Speaker 7: Some, you're not cooking with it.
- 18:58Speaker 8: No, I'm not not the biggest and because of what,
- 19:02Speaker 8: I don't know, Like I've seared some steaks in it,
- 19:04Speaker 8: and I think, like when I rendered it down, like
- 19:07Speaker 8: it just kind of smells me. I had Clay Nukem
- 19:09Speaker 8: smell it and he was like, no, it smells great,
- 19:12Speaker 8: But like for me, there's just I don't.
- 19:14Speaker 7: Know what color is it when it's just sitting in

- 22:08Speaker 8: I know?
- 22:08Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 22:09Speaker 8: Really, you know waited the easier question stories the beginning.
- 22:11Speaker 8: Let's see how in the second half.
- 22:13Speaker 2: Yeah, question six. The topic is public lands. Bulldozers began
- 22:20Speaker 2: work on border patrol roads and barriers earlier this month
- 22:24Speaker 2: in this Texas National Park.
- 22:27Speaker 8: It's all downhill from here.
- 22:31Speaker 2: Bulldozers began work on border patrol roads and barriers earlier

- 22:39Speaker 5: This is included in this week's Mediator Weekly Field Brief.
- 22:44Speaker 5: You're not following the Mediator News Instagram account already, go
- 22:48Speaker 5: check that out for your conservation updates.
- 22:49Speaker 2: You'll do better on meat Eater trivia.
- 22:52Speaker 7: Max.
- 22:53Speaker 2: Do you have this one right? I got a good guess. Okay, Brianna,
- 22:56Speaker 2: do you have this one right? I believe so Logan
- 22:59Speaker 2: perfect game going.
- 23:01Speaker 8: No, I'm not to think of some text and words.
- 23:05Speaker 7: Good luck, lone star.
- 23:12Speaker 2: Mhmm, John de m.
- 23:17Speaker 9: Nothing comes to mind right now, but I know when
- 23:19Speaker 9: I see it, it's just it'll all come back.
- 23:21Speaker 2: Bulldozers began work on border patrol, roads and barriers earlier
- 23:26Speaker 2: this month in this Texas National Park.
- 23:30Speaker 3: It's national park was somewhere else.
- 23:34Speaker 2: You may not have it right then.
- 23:37Speaker 6: Oh yeah, I'll explain later. I guess would make sense.
- 23:42Speaker 2: It's everybody ready, Go ahead and reveal your answers. Yanni
- 23:46Speaker 2: says Big Bend Mark, Big Bend Logan Lamo John without
- 23:52Speaker 2: an answer, Brianna, Big Bend, Maxwell, Rio grand answer makes sense.
- 23:57Speaker 2: The correct answer is Big Bend National Park. Bulldozers began
- 24:02Speaker 2: clearing vegetation in the park near the Rio Grande on
- 24:05Speaker 2: August sixth. The construction is part of a one point
- 24:08Speaker 2: seven billion dollar project that will build roads, barriers, lights, towers,
- 24:13Speaker 2: and surveillance platforms in Big Bend. The National Wildlife Federation
- 24:17Speaker 2: said while it supports a secure border, it believes the
- 24:19Speaker 2: Big Bend ecosystem is too fragile for this kind of infrastructure.
- 24:23Speaker 2: There's a picture of that work going on, bulldozer clearing
- 24:28Speaker 2: some land there. That construction company is actually from Bozeman
- 24:30Speaker 2: here and its founder donated one million dollars to President
- 24:34Speaker 2: Trump before it won this bid.
- 24:36Speaker 6: Really suspect interesting.
- 24:38Speaker 2: Question seven. The topic is fishing. A six year old
- 24:43Speaker 2: boy tells his tiger stuffed animal that quote fishing is
- 24:48Speaker 2: the most boring sport in the world. In this nineteen
- 24:51Speaker 2: eighty seven comic strip, a six year old boy tells

- 25:12Speaker 2: and Yanni they look confident their whiteboards are down. Brianna
- 25:16Speaker 2: still has a perfect game going. Do you have this one?
- 25:19Speaker 3: I think so?
- 25:20Speaker 2: Okay, seven for seven, perfect game. I think first timers
- 25:28Speaker 2: are usually performing below average, not Brianna. A six year
- 25:34Speaker 2: old boy tells his tiger stuffed animal that phishing is
- 25:38Speaker 2: the most boring sport in the world. In this nineteen
- 25:42Speaker 2: eighty seven comic strip, Brianna, if you win, you get
- 25:45Speaker 2: to choose where the donation goes for meat Eater, So
- 25:47Speaker 2: start thinking about that. And if you get a perfect game,
- 25:49Speaker 2: it's a double donation. It's a thousand dollars.
- 25:53Speaker 3: I was thinking about that and I was like, there's
- 25:54Speaker 3: no amine.
- 25:55Speaker 5: Do you think about it?
- 25:56Speaker 6: Yeah, maybe everyone else is gonna throw the game for you.
- 26:00Speaker 3: I love you, kind but unnecessary.
- 26:03Speaker 2: I'm doing it a six year old boy tells his
- 26:05Speaker 2: tiger stuffed animal that fishing is the most boring sport

- 26:34Speaker 2: newspaper comic. It was printed in over two thousand newspapers
- 26:38Speaker 2: in fifty countries during its run from nineteen eighty five
- 26:41Speaker 2: to nineteen ninety five. Kelvin generally found fishing to be miserable.
- 26:45Speaker 2: In one comic strip, Kelvin gets bit by a fish
- 26:47Speaker 2: right before Hobbes shows up and asks if the fish
- 26:50Speaker 2: are biting. In another, his dad tells him he's wasting
- 26:53Speaker 2: the day away by not going small mouthfishing at six am,
- 26:56Speaker 2: and in another, Kelvin complains that phishing is boring because
- 27:00Speaker 2: nothing exciting ever happens, so Hobbs throws them in the lake.
- 27:04Speaker 2: Question eight, the topic is gear. This next rat question
- 27:07Speaker 2: is via Brian Tanner. Outdoor apparel made of this acronym,
- 27:12Speaker 2: which is commonly referred to as quote forever Chemicals, is
- 27:16Speaker 2: banned in New York and California. Outdoor apparel made of
- 27:25Speaker 2: this acronym, which is commonly referred to as Forever chemicals,
- 27:30Speaker 2: is banned in New York.
- 27:34Speaker 7: That a very sketchy.
- 27:36Speaker 4: Hmmm, I know it.
- 27:37Speaker 3: I have a concept of the acronym.
- 27:40Speaker 5: I think that I'm gonna get it wrong.
- 27:43Speaker 2: She is the only player with the blank white board.
- 27:46Speaker 7: It consists of all capital.

- 28:19Speaker 5: and hopefully it'll drive an innovation to make other you know,
- 28:24Speaker 5: as yeah, waterproof materials.
- 28:27Speaker 2: The rain where you're referring to, has been that deadline's
- 28:30Speaker 2: been pushed out the furthest among the outdoor apparel when
- 28:33Speaker 2: they're saying you can't use this anymore, But they gave
- 28:36Speaker 2: people making this product, you know, rainwear, the longest lead

- 28:59Speaker 6: Have loved that.
- 29:00Speaker 3: Put an M in there. For some reason, I knew.
- 29:02Speaker 2: That was wrong. P fast stands for per and polyfloral
- 29:07Speaker 2: elkyl substances. Both states created laws to ban p fast
- 29:11Speaker 2: in apparel in twenty twenty two, with those regulations rolling
- 29:15Speaker 2: out through twenty twenty eight. The crackdown on forever chemicals
- 29:19Speaker 2: is because, as the name implies, they don't break down
- 29:21Speaker 2: in nature or the human body.
- 29:24Speaker 4: Phil scoreboard update, Everyone except for John is still contending

- 29:41Speaker 4: Logan and Brianna with seven points very exciting.
- 29:45Speaker 2: High drama is question nine. The topic is wildlife. Urban
- 29:50Speaker 2: Dictionary defines this nine letter word as quote, an excessive
- 29:56Speaker 2: or irrational fear of encountering bears while outdoor.

- 30:43Speaker 2: you have this one, right, I think So okay, you
- 30:46Speaker 2: found a nine letter word.
- 30:47Speaker 5: Came to me.

- 31:13Speaker 2: could just go and create this before the episode comes
- 31:16Speaker 2: out and then give yourself the point.
- 31:18Speaker 6: Yeah, give me working.
- 31:22Speaker 2: Hey, you've got you've got the amount of time to
- 31:24Speaker 2: do it before I reveal the answers.
- 31:27Speaker 6: I'm gonna tell you to check your facts again.
- 31:30Speaker 2: The room is struggling on this one. Only Mark has
- 31:33Speaker 2: any confidence. Brianna, do you have this one right?
- 31:36Speaker 3: No? I think there's some scientific word for bears that
- 31:39Speaker 3: I can't think about right now.
- 31:41Speaker 2: Okay, nine letter word an excessive or irrational fear of
- 31:46Speaker 2: encountering bears while outdoors. It's everybody ready, No, yes, give
- 31:54Speaker 2: us sixty second?
- 31:55Speaker 7: Sixty seconds?
- 31:57Speaker 2: Wow, Yanni needs uh, Brianna Logan and Mark to slip
- 32:03Speaker 2: up to stay in the game here, that's wrong. Question
- 32:06Speaker 2: nine Logan, Do you have this one?

- 32:27Speaker 2: Almost never in that extension does he come up with
- 32:29Speaker 2: the answers.

- 32:38Speaker 2: Me, go ahead and reveal your answers. Yanni says bear
- 32:41Speaker 2: fears grism Fhile John without an answer, Brianna says bear phobia.
- 32:53Speaker 2: Maxwell for phobia. The correct answer is Baranoya or baron
- 33:01Speaker 2: It's believed that the word baronoya sprang up in Alaska
- 33:05Speaker 2: in the early nineteen nineties. An article from the Los
- 33:08Speaker 2: Angeles Times used the term in July of nineteen ninety two,
- 33:12Speaker 2: then in September of that same year, Baranoya showed up
- 33:15Speaker 2: again in a Washington Post story. Both articles were quoting
- 33:19Speaker 2: reps from the Alaska Department of Fish and Game when
- 33:22Speaker 2: using the word all right, here's a correct answer. Review

- 34:10Speaker 2: has never won? Is that correct? Going against Brianna, who
- 34:14Speaker 2: has never played, Name the two countries whose border crosses
- 34:18Speaker 2: the peak of Mount Everest, Yanni, you got this one right?
- 34:24Speaker 7: I believe so. I feel like it's a stretch for
- 34:26Speaker 7: our four verticals.
- 34:27Speaker 2: Spencer, I don't know the tallest mountain in the world.
- 34:31Speaker 2: What countries are there? I think it flies. I had
- 34:35Speaker 2: a question about Kelvin and Hobbs a little bit ago, Yanni,
- 34:39Speaker 2: about them fishing a lot of fishing shut up. In
- 34:42Speaker 2: those three three thousand comic strips.

- 36:09Speaker 2: and China or tibetot. The summit of Mount Everest is
- 36:17Speaker 2: shared by both nations, with China to the north and
- 36:20Speaker 2: Nepal to the south. The two countries disagreed on Mount
- 36:24Speaker 2: Everest height until recently. China measured to the bottom of
- 36:27Speaker 2: the snowcap, while Nepaul measured to the top of it.
- 36:30Speaker 2: This resulted in a fifteen foot discrepancy, but in twenty
- 36:33Speaker 2: twenty they made a joint decision that the mountain should
- 36:36Speaker 2: be measured to the peak of the snowcap, giving it
- 36:39Speaker 2: an agreed upon height of twenty nine thousand, thirty one feet.
- 36:43Speaker 2: And there it is in the world. If you're trying
