- 0:04Speaker 1: Welcome to Just the Cats with Michael Bennett.
- 0:13Speaker 2: Hello, Big Blue Nation, Welcome to Just the Cats. My
- 0:17Speaker 2: name is Michael Bennett on this Thursday, August six. Hope
- 0:21Speaker 2: everybody's doing well out there. Watch the kiddos. You know,
- 0:24Speaker 2: it's the first day of school here in Louisville. Suckers.
- 0:30Speaker 2: That's really I know. And then what'd that mean?
- 0:34Speaker 3: I would, honestly, yeah, I would trade spots with a kid.
- 0:38Speaker 4: Uh not me. I would go back. No, not, Michael Bennett.
- 0:43Speaker 2: I can tell you right now, even though I'm not
- 0:46Speaker 2: even going to school today, I feel the anxiety and
- 0:50Speaker 2: I see the school bus is like anxiety. I see
- 0:52Speaker 2: a school anxiety. No, I No, I would not do.
- 0:55Speaker 2: You couldn't pay me any amount of money go back
- 0:58Speaker 2: to school? M Yeah, how do you like that? If
- 1:01Speaker 2: you could go back to any age, where would you go?
- 1:04Speaker 1: Uh?
- 1:04Speaker 3: Probably my college years. See I'd go back to like sixteen,
- 1:08Speaker 3: would you?
- 1:09Speaker 4: Yeah? Know them what I know now? Yeah?
- 1:11Speaker 2: Yeah, but it would be my college summer years. Okay,
- 1:14Speaker 2: so just letting you know.
- 1:15Speaker 5: Ok.
- 1:15Speaker 2: Yeah, And after I got out college, I took a
- 1:17Speaker 2: little time off. You know, I had a hard, hard
- 1:19Speaker 2: life when I was a kid. So after college. I
- 1:21Speaker 2: took a little time off. Michael been and needed some
- 1:23Speaker 2: much needed rest. Okay, okay, yeah, yeah, I'll believe you. No,
- 1:28Speaker 2: I just got it, scurried around. Then my dad said, Michael,
- 1:33Speaker 2: get a job, so I did, and then I went
- 1:37Speaker 2: to work. So yeah, I listen, I had a great life.
- 1:40Speaker 2: I shouldn't say had I've had a great life, but
- 1:43Speaker 2: uh yeah, my mom and dad were the best in
- 1:46Speaker 2: the world. So you'll never get to hear me say
- 1:48Speaker 2: any different now of me. But uh no, I just
- 1:52Speaker 2: I just was not good at school. You've heard me
- 1:55Speaker 2: talk about this. I just wasn't good at it. They
- 1:57Speaker 2: didn't know that I had every out be out there
- 2:00Speaker 2: ADHD attention deficit, I mean everything, and it's just it
- 2:05Speaker 2: was painted the butt. So therefore I wasn't good at
- 2:07Speaker 2: school until later in life I found out I.
- 2:10Speaker 3: Wasn't good in college. Really, but that was because of
- 2:13Speaker 3: my own actions. Yeah, oh see, I wasn't good in
- 2:15Speaker 3: college either. I was great in high school.
- 2:17Speaker 2: Really interesting, you were great? So does that mean high
- 2:21Speaker 2: school was a little easier?
- 2:24Speaker 3: High school was definitely easier, but it was also a
- 2:26Speaker 3: more subdued me I was.
- 2:29Speaker 4: I was a lot more calm I was more.
- 2:32Speaker 3: I would say I was more religious when I was
- 2:34Speaker 3: in high school versus when I was in college. Oh really,
- 2:37Speaker 3: you lost that. I just I kind of went wild
- 2:39Speaker 3: in college. Yeah I didn't. I've said for years I
- 2:42Speaker 3: didn't go to EU to play school. Wow, I didn't.
- 2:45Speaker 3: How long did it take you to graduate? Five and
- 2:47Speaker 3: a half years?
- 2:49Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, you're getting up there, tommy boy.
- 2:53Speaker 3: I mean, I'm nice. I'm dang near AJ store at
- 2:55Speaker 3: this point.
- 2:56Speaker 2: What five and a half years and you got a
- 2:58Speaker 2: degree in uh, sports broadcast, sports broadcasting?
- 3:02Speaker 4: Good lord? Was that a tough degree to get, by
- 3:05Speaker 4: the way, No, gosh, no, it wasn't. No, not at all.
- 3:09Speaker 4: Were you on the IU broadcasting team?
- 3:12Speaker 3: No, you know that is Honestly, I have some regrets
- 3:16Speaker 3: in my life, but that's one of my biggest regrets
- 3:19Speaker 3: in life, is not taking that side of school more seriously,
- 3:23Speaker 3: at least trying to apply myself in terms of broadcasting
- 3:27Speaker 3: and getting on the radio calls of stuff.
- 3:29Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 3:30Speaker 3: I just I didn't seek that stuff out, and I wish,
- 3:32Speaker 3: more than anything I would.
- 3:34Speaker 2: That's too bad. I never listen, things have happened in
- 3:37Speaker 2: my life. I never dreamed I would be doing this
- 3:39Speaker 2: is one of them radio and making it actually a
- 3:43Speaker 2: real job. I never did I listen. I'd listened to
- 3:46Speaker 2: talk radio a good portion of my life, I would say,
- 3:50Speaker 2: since I was probably twenty. No, I've listened to longer
- 3:54Speaker 2: that because I listened to kay Wood Ledford and then
- 4:00Speaker 2: obviously Tom and and now I listened to all kinds
- 4:03Speaker 2: of uh talk radio. But I never dreamed I would
- 4:06Speaker 2: be doing something like this, And here I am today.
- 4:09Speaker 4: You know it's funny. Is my dad? My mom?
- 4:11Speaker 3: Actually, my mom and my dad both listened to talk
- 4:14Speaker 3: radio when I was growing up, right, and I freaking
- 4:16Speaker 3: hated it. I thought I thought it was so boring.
- 4:20Speaker 4: I didn't. I never wanted to listen to it. I was.
- 4:22Speaker 3: I was a musical kid. I want to sports radio shows.
- 4:27Speaker 3: Oh my god, I wanted to I wanted if I
- 4:29Speaker 3: was in the car, I wanted to listen to music.
- 4:32Speaker 3: But yeah, Mom and dad were both big, big talk
- 4:35Speaker 3: talk radio people, and I thought.
- 4:37Speaker 4: It was so boring.
- 4:38Speaker 2: Wow. Yeah, And now here I am, all these years later.
- 4:41Speaker 2: I know, and you're doing it, and I'm doing it.
- 4:42Speaker 2: There's probably some kid out there. This is so boring.
- 4:45Speaker 2: I wish my dad would turn this off, probably on
- 4:47Speaker 2: the way to school his first day. It's like, Dad,
- 4:49Speaker 2: can't a little listen, listen, listen to a little music
- 4:52Speaker 2: before we get there, and you got to put up
- 4:54Speaker 2: with you and me.
- 4:55Speaker 4: I feel your kid. Just just know out there, kid,
- 4:58Speaker 4: I'm with you.
- 4:59Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly. Prayers up. But anyway, but I never dreamed
- 5:03Speaker 2: i'd be doing something. It's been a lot of fun,
- 5:05Speaker 2: and there are days it's a little tougher than the other,
- 5:07Speaker 2: but I would say for ninety five percent of the time,
- 5:12Speaker 2: I enjoy every second of this. And because I remember
- 5:16Speaker 2: Whas had the play by play guy for.
- 5:22Speaker 4: U of L.
- 5:22Speaker 2: He had a sports radio show at night and all
- 5:26Speaker 2: kinds of people listen to it. I can't remember what
- 5:28Speaker 2: his name was. I just met him a couple of
- 5:30Speaker 2: years ago. Oscar Combs introduced me to him, Van Vance
- 5:34Speaker 2: Van Vance, who also did the Louisville or Kentucky Colonels.
- 5:38Speaker 2: He did play by play for them. Van Vance was
- 5:41Speaker 2: are still is an icon as far as local sports radio.
- 5:47Speaker 2: He was the man, and then Tony Cruz kind of
- 5:50Speaker 2: took over for that, and Tony Cruz did and never
- 5:53Speaker 2: in my life did I ever think that I would
- 5:55Speaker 2: meet Van Vance Tony Cruz and become friends.
- 5:58Speaker 4: With these people. It's like, Okay, this is this is
- 6:00Speaker 4: kind of a childhood dream for me.
- 6:02Speaker 2: Now. If I could have only gotten the note Kawood Ledford,
- 6:05Speaker 2: I would have been set. You could have killed me
- 6:07Speaker 2: then I would be all good. But uh, instead I
- 6:09Speaker 2: got to you know, meet Tom so and yeah, and
- 6:14Speaker 2: Tom does a great job and he's very nice to be.
- 6:16Speaker 2: He loves but you know what he likes to talk
- 6:18Speaker 2: about is nothing but horses. Oh he's gigantic. He'll call me, hey,
- 6:24Speaker 2: I see your horse is racing, and uh, are you
- 6:27Speaker 2: coming to Lexington? And then he'll be there in the
- 6:30Speaker 2: paddock and I'll be walking around in the paddock area
- 6:32Speaker 2: and he'll want to talk about all the different horses,
- 6:35Speaker 2: which ones I have and that kind of stuff. And
- 6:37Speaker 2: I love that about Tom Hammond. Tom Hammond good gosh.
- 6:41Speaker 2: Uh but Tom Leech And so anyway, Tom, you don't
- 6:46Speaker 2: know who Tom Hammon is. He is mister Olympics from Lexington, Kentucky.
- 6:52Speaker 2: He used to announce. He was a major major sports
- 6:55Speaker 2: announcerent on NBC for many years and then he was
- 6:58Speaker 2: uh before Mike Tarico, he was the Olympic guy now
- 7:02Speaker 2: I know. Yeah, oh, you would recognize his voice in
- 7:05Speaker 2: a minute. But Tom Hammond, I miss hearing his voice.
- 7:08Speaker 2: Great guy. But by the way, can I ask you
- 7:13Speaker 2: a question?
- 7:14Speaker 4: No? Or may I ask you a question? Nop? Okay, thanks? Yeah,
- 7:17Speaker 4: go ahead.
- 7:18Speaker 2: I'm driving in this morning and there's like all these
- 7:22Speaker 2: old cars. I feel like I'm back in the nineteen
- 7:25Speaker 2: forties on the Waterston Expressway. Really is there something going
- 7:28Speaker 2: on here in town for old cars? That would be
- 7:30Speaker 2: a question for our listener, Josh. Oh really, Josh probably
- 7:33Speaker 2: would know that.
- 7:34Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 7:34Speaker 2: I mean, it wasn't like there were old cars here
- 7:37Speaker 2: in Lowell just driving around. These are cars that are
- 7:40Speaker 2: from all kinds of different states. I passed an old
- 7:44Speaker 2: car from Georgia, North Carolina, Tennessee. There must be something
- 7:49Speaker 2: going on here with the old cars.
- 7:52Speaker 4: And I know they come every year. Really okay, somebody
- 7:56Speaker 4: just told.
- 7:58Speaker 3: Yeah straight Rod Nationals that it is okay, fifty seventh annual.
- 8:02Speaker 4: Wow.
- 8:03Speaker 3: That was always so back in my hotel work days.
- 8:07Speaker 3: That was always a lot of fun because the hotels
- 8:09Speaker 3: in Louisville all sell out and you've got all these
- 8:12Speaker 3: old school cars in your parking lot. So just I
- 8:15Speaker 3: would I would literally walk out the door and just
- 8:18Speaker 3: walk through the parking lot just to see what I
- 8:20Speaker 3: could see. Really, and there were some really really cool cars.
- 8:23Speaker 3: Really all right, So you're into the hot ride things.
- 8:26Speaker 3: Not all the time, no, I mean, I mean, I
- 8:29Speaker 3: do like the look of old cars. I think they're fascinating,
- 8:32Speaker 3: but I don't Yeah, I don't know anything about cars,
- 8:34Speaker 3: so I don't really get into it that much.
- 8:36Speaker 2: See, I'm kind of the same way. The only old
- 8:38Speaker 2: car I like is a portion of nine to fifty
- 8:40Speaker 2: six or on older nine to eleven.
- 8:43Speaker 4: But that's it.
- 8:43Speaker 2: The ones they take out of the American cars from
- 8:46Speaker 2: the thirties, forties, fifties. I'm just I'm not into it.
- 8:50Speaker 2: I've never been into them.
- 8:51Speaker 3: Josh said, ten thousand cars every year. Are you serious?
- 8:55Speaker 3: Ten thousand?
- 8:56Speaker 2: So that's big for the city then huge, Yeah, Oh
- 8:59Speaker 2: it's a good the city of Look, it is definitely
- 9:01Speaker 2: one of the biggest weekends. Well what do you go
- 9:03Speaker 2: do there? You just drive your car there and say, hey,
- 9:05Speaker 2: look at my car, and then you're done.
- 9:07Speaker 4: You just that's it.
- 9:08Speaker 3: You just sit your car there all day. People come
- 9:10Speaker 3: look at it.
- 9:10Speaker 2: This is the fifty seventh annual. This would be the
- 9:13Speaker 2: fifty seventh time annual that I haven't gone, so I
- 9:15Speaker 2: have no idea about this thing.
- 9:17Speaker 4: Maybe you should go this year. Yeah, okay, get.
- 9:20Speaker 3: You some exercise, walk around, look at some neat cars.
- 9:23Speaker 2: If they had some portions there, i'd go. But I'm
- 9:26Speaker 2: just I'm not into the hot ride thing, the old cars.
- 9:29Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 9:30Speaker 3: I just maybe I should go and just admire what
- 9:33Speaker 3: people do, even though it's not my cup of tea.
- 9:36Speaker 3: We had one that came to the hotel every year.
- 9:39Speaker 3: I can't remember the name of it for crying out loud,
- 9:41Speaker 3: but it was a it was something limo and it sat.
- 9:45Speaker 3: It was the top of the car. Michael was literally
- 9:48Speaker 3: at my knee. What yeah, no, wait, wait a minute,
- 9:52Speaker 3: that can't be true. It was at my I promise
- 9:55Speaker 3: you it was at my knee. And then like it was,
- 9:57Speaker 3: they had a soft top cover. It was a real
- 10:00Speaker 3: long car.
- 10:01Speaker 4: It was. It was really cool looking, but it was tiny.
- 10:04Speaker 4: How do you get in it? I had no idea.
- 10:07Speaker 2: By the way, my cousin speaking of that, was it
- 10:09Speaker 2: a real car, by the way, Yeah, okay, is it
- 10:12Speaker 2: something that my cousin bought a truck, a three wheel
- 10:17Speaker 2: truck on TMU and she showed it off to me,
- 10:24Speaker 2: and so she has it down and this is this
- 10:26Speaker 2: is not my cousin.
- 10:27Speaker 4: That's a guy.
- 10:27Speaker 2: This is my cousin. That's a girl, Betty Lou. And
- 10:31Speaker 2: Betty Lou couldn't wait to show me her TMU truck.
- 10:35Speaker 2: And I'm like, this is the wildest thing I've ever seen.
- 10:37Speaker 2: She goes, yeah, every time I drive it up to
- 10:39Speaker 2: home depot because she likes to buy houses and redo them.
- 10:43Speaker 2: She does a lot of it herself, and she does
- 10:45Speaker 2: phenomenal work down in Saint Pete And uh uh. She said,
- 10:50Speaker 2: there's always somebody that wants to come up and buy
- 10:53Speaker 2: my truck.
- 10:54Speaker 4: And I'm like, really, it's an actual truck.
- 10:56Speaker 2: It's an actual It has two seats and a bed
- 10:59Speaker 2: in the back for her to haul stuff. Yeah, isn't
- 11:04Speaker 2: that the weirdest thing. And she bought it off team.
- 11:06Speaker 2: She bought it off team. What a wild decision.
- 11:08Speaker 4: Wow.
- 11:10Speaker 2: Yeah, Well, when you have the kind of money she does,
- 11:12Speaker 2: she's she can afford to do that kind of stuff.
- 11:14Speaker 4: So anyway, that's take a chance.
- 11:17Speaker 2: Yeah I might as well, because I've seen those videos
- 11:19Speaker 2: of guys buying sports cars. And then on unpackaging them
- 11:25Speaker 2: out of the box, only to find out I think
- 11:28Speaker 2: it was a Bagatti a god bought and they could
- 11:31Speaker 2: tell it was so fake from China.
- 11:34Speaker 4: And but yea car. Maybe that's what I should do.
- 11:38Speaker 2: Go buy me a souped up car on TIMU and
- 11:42Speaker 2: take it to the Hot Ride show and see if
- 11:44Speaker 2: I give any attention. Huh, I should. I could make
- 11:47Speaker 2: a little money sell take us to see my car. Anyway,
- 11:50Speaker 2: I don't know, somebody's gotta explain to me what the
- 11:52Speaker 2: purpose of going to this thing is, because, uh, I mean,
- 11:55Speaker 2: are they going there and competing to see if people
- 11:58Speaker 2: win for re renovating their car? What do you call it?
- 12:01Speaker 2: Not renovate, not remodeling. I'm sure and stuff you think so,
- 12:05Speaker 2: but what do you call that when you do that
- 12:07Speaker 2: to your car? Because you're not renovating it, modify it.
- 12:11Speaker 2: You're modifying it modifications. Yeah, okay, all right, then, well
- 12:14Speaker 2: whatever it is. But uh, if you're listening to the
- 12:17Speaker 2: show and you're not from Louisville, welcome, So I hope
- 12:20Speaker 2: hopefully you're having a good time in Louisville, Kentucky. So uh,
- 12:24Speaker 2: but uh, anyway, we got it's almost Friday, I know
- 12:28Speaker 2: you're looking forward to that. It's the first day of school.
- 12:31Speaker 2: Uh you got to watch out front the buses because
- 12:33Speaker 2: there's new laws to uh bus and them stopping. You know,
- 12:38Speaker 2: you're supposed to stop no matter if you're at a
- 12:40Speaker 2: four lane on a four lane road. If that sign
- 12:43Speaker 2: comes out and says stop, you are Now Jamie can
- 12:45Speaker 2: attest this if he a restoration.
- 12:47Speaker 4: Thank you, Jamie. H all the new laws now.
- 12:53Speaker 2: On if a school bus puts it stop sign out,
- 12:56Speaker 2: you have to stop, then they're going to come down
- 12:59Speaker 2: hard on people.
- 12:59Speaker 3: That hasn't that always been the law? No, I think
- 13:02Speaker 3: I think before. Hold on, I think before if you
- 13:06Speaker 3: were on a four lane road, you didn't have to stop,
- 13:08Speaker 3: and I think you're having to stop now there's some
- 13:10Speaker 3: new laws about it.
- 13:11Speaker 4: Now.
- 13:12Speaker 3: I assumed that was always a thing. Now if I
- 13:14Speaker 3: see a school bus then it stops on out I'm stopping. Yeah,
- 13:17Speaker 3: especially on a two lane road on any road. Yeah, yeah,
- 13:20Speaker 3: I don't care if it's in Los Angeles and we've
- 13:22Speaker 3: got sixteen lanes of highway.
- 13:24Speaker 2: I like the buses that had the big rod come
- 13:27Speaker 2: out and block the lane on the other side.
- 13:28Speaker 4: Uh huh.
- 13:29Speaker 2: That hell was like Okay, that's a great idea right there.
- 13:32Speaker 2: They should put some maybe some spike strips that come
- 13:36Speaker 2: out automatically and uh, that way, if a car does
- 13:40Speaker 2: pass by, they're gonna get four blown tires.
- 13:42Speaker 4: Actually, do you like that idea? I do? Yeah, yeah.
- 13:47Speaker 2: Or maybe at the end of the bus it blows
- 13:50Speaker 2: out paint so it puts paint all over your car.
- 13:53Speaker 2: Now you're spotted like people with these Amazon packages.
- 13:57Speaker 4: You seen any of that? No, what are you talking
- 13:59Speaker 4: about like that? Oh, that's awesome. I love those.
- 14:02Speaker 3: Sports pirates that pick up a package and then it
- 14:04Speaker 3: just blows up on them and they're covered in like
- 14:06Speaker 3: pink paint.
- 14:07Speaker 2: I love that one. And the one where the seat
- 14:09Speaker 2: goes through and now the just the bar goes up
- 14:12Speaker 2: on your butt and it kills the guy trying to
- 14:15Speaker 2: ride off in a stolen bike. Or are they electrify
- 14:19Speaker 2: the bike so he starts driving off and they push
- 14:22Speaker 2: a button it starts electrocuting them.
- 14:24Speaker 4: I have no idea. You've never seen those. You don't
- 14:26Speaker 4: know what you're talking Those are fun?
- 14:28Speaker 2: Oh yeah, pain being inflicted to other people just makes
- 14:32Speaker 2: me smile. And I know that's terrible. We talked about
- 14:34Speaker 2: toddlers yesterday. I could talk about that stuff all day long.
- 14:38Speaker 2: So anyway, UK Football, let's talk about them for a minute.
- 14:42Speaker 2: They announced yesterday that they're going to have a meet
- 14:46Speaker 2: the Team day. Mark it on your calendars August fifteenth
- 14:50Speaker 2: at Nutterfield House. I guess they're just kind of revamping
- 14:54Speaker 2: it and changing it from Fan Day to Meet the
- 14:57Speaker 2: Team Day.
- 14:58Speaker 4: I can't.
- 14:59Speaker 2: I don't know what's wrong with just keeping fan Day,
- 15:01Speaker 2: do you? I mean, I guess they're just trying to emphasize, Hey,
- 15:04Speaker 2: you can come there and meet the entire team.
- 15:07Speaker 3: You shouldn't be surprised at this juncture about things being
- 15:10Speaker 3: named differently or called differently because you got a new
- 15:13Speaker 3: coaching staff there. I know they're gonna have their own
- 15:16Speaker 3: ways to do it.
- 15:16Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 15:17Speaker 3: I know there's you should probably keep the same name,
- 15:20Speaker 3: just because it makes it easier on everybody who's always
- 15:23Speaker 3: known what it was.
- 15:24Speaker 4: Yeah, but your new traditions. I like it.
- 15:26Speaker 2: It has to be a reboot of fan Day, don't
- 15:29Speaker 2: you think? And I listen, a lot of this needed
- 15:32Speaker 2: to be refreshed. It's you're right, it's it's a new
- 15:35Speaker 2: staff but in a new team. But it's still the
- 15:39Speaker 2: University of Kentucky football program, and I don't think the
- 15:43Speaker 2: be any problem keeping fan day. But that's fine. Make
- 15:47Speaker 2: it meet the team day. I have no problem with that,
- 15:49Speaker 2: so we'll call it that. I'm looking forward to it.
- 15:51Speaker 2: No more details are out there yet. But who would
- 15:55Speaker 2: be the first person you would want to go meet
- 15:57Speaker 2: on the team as far as players?
- 16:00Speaker 3: Me, yeah, I don't really have one.
- 16:07Speaker 2: Really, nobody on this football team you would want to
- 16:10Speaker 2: go meet. I mean, I mean we had two players
- 16:12Speaker 2: on the other day. I thought you might say one
- 16:14Speaker 2: of them.
- 16:14Speaker 4: I mean, I'm an Indiana fan. I get it.
- 16:17Speaker 3: I don't really have to meet Kentucky football player.
- 16:21Speaker 2: Listen, if I was going to, I you, I wouldn't
- 16:25Speaker 2: want to meet Mendoza. But he's not there anymore. I
- 16:28Speaker 2: know he's not there anymore. But if it was last year,
- 16:30Speaker 2: I would want to go meet the quarterback. Who's the
- 16:32Speaker 2: biggest guy on the team. Ooh, it's one of the
- 16:35Speaker 2: offensive That's.
- 16:36Speaker 3: What I would want to give me A guy that's
- 16:38Speaker 3: like six foot eight, four hundred pounds.
- 16:40Speaker 4: That's the guy I want.
- 16:41Speaker 2: You know, I made a pretty good big guy. On Monday,
- 16:45Speaker 2: he was on the show for about fifteen minutes. I
- 16:47Speaker 2: would have figured you might say Colton Price.
- 16:50Speaker 4: I don't remember. We talked about him with a big can.
- 16:52Speaker 3: I know, I know, but I just I don't have
- 16:55Speaker 3: a burning desire to meet Colton Brice. I'm I'm glad
- 16:58Speaker 3: that you were able to and I'm glad that he
- 16:59Speaker 3: was on the SHO Show, and he was.
- 17:00Speaker 2: He gave a great interview Kenny Minchie, all right, is
- 17:04Speaker 2: there anybody on the coaching staff you want to meet?
- 17:06Speaker 2: Excuse me for asking, I'm sorry, that's like, I mean,
- 17:09Speaker 2: that's just is there anybody I would want to meet
- 17:12Speaker 2: the head coaching I you?
- 17:13Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean I would.
- 17:14Speaker 2: You are amazing me with me these answers. I have
- 17:17Speaker 2: no interest. I'm just no, I'm done. I'm just I'm all.
- 17:20Speaker 3: I you meeting will Stein would be fun, but yeah,
- 17:22Speaker 3: I mean, I again, I don't have a desire.
- 17:25Speaker 2: To meet any of the player really, okay, none of all.
- 17:27Speaker 2: I have a desire to meet other players out there.
- 17:31Speaker 2: I could go through a whole list of other players
- 17:34Speaker 2: I've always won to meet, and probably top of the listen,
- 17:38Speaker 2: this is before he got to the uh uh, the NFL,
- 17:42Speaker 2: and that was Tom Brady I for some reason, I
- 17:45Speaker 2: always like Tom Brady, even though he was at Michigan
- 17:47Speaker 2: and I was not a fan of Michigan whatsoever. I
- 17:50Speaker 2: just man with a great player, and I'm thinking, okay,
- 17:54Speaker 2: uh old miss, I might want to meet their quarterback.
- 17:58Speaker 2: There No, not really why. I just I don't have
- 18:01Speaker 2: a desire to meet it. I've always wanted to meet
- 18:04Speaker 2: Lady Tiffin. How does that? How does it behoove me
- 18:07Speaker 2: to meet Trinity Chambliss? Just interesting to tell people, hey,
- 18:11Speaker 2: oh hey in one time. Well, if he I guarantee you,
- 18:16Speaker 2: if he becomes all NFL goes in the Hall of Fame,
- 18:19Speaker 2: you would be telling your grandkids I met him one time.
- 18:22Speaker 3: Yes, you wouldn't. Don't tell me. You wouldn't know. My
- 18:25Speaker 3: grandkids would be like, good for you, pop, Pop. We
- 18:27Speaker 3: don't care, okay man about Thursday. I just don't have
- 18:34Speaker 3: a desire to meet other players.
- 18:36Speaker 4: I do. I do. I enjoy that I've always enjoyed.
- 18:39Speaker 3: All right, So if you were able to meet one
- 18:42Speaker 3: Thomas on this Indiana basket or this Indiana football team.
- 18:45Speaker 2: Who would you want to meet? Probably the quarterback? What
- 18:47Speaker 2: does it feel like? Because the first question I asked,
- 18:50Speaker 2: is there a lot of pressure on you to follow
- 18:53Speaker 2: up the greatest quarterback to ever play at you, Mendoza.
- 18:57Speaker 2: Do you know our quarterbacks have no idea what his
- 18:59Speaker 2: name is, but I'd want to meet him Josh Hoover. Yeah,
- 19:04Speaker 2: see that's what I thought. It'll behoove you to learn
- 19:06Speaker 2: his name now, vacuum cleaner. Uh so, there you go,
- 19:10Speaker 2: Josh Hoover. I'm on my way to Bloomington right now
- 19:14Speaker 2: to come meet you. Okay, he'll know his name soon enough.
- 19:16Speaker 2: Oh boy, here we go. Okay, yeah, I don't count
- 19:20Speaker 2: on it. I bet at the end of the season,
- 19:22Speaker 2: I you is not in the top fifteen. There you go, boom,
- 19:25Speaker 2: you're roasted. What do you always say to me? Roasted?
- 19:29Speaker 2: How much money you want to lose?
- 19:30Speaker 4: Zero?
- 19:31Speaker 2: I won't gamble. But anyway, I'm looking forward to meet
- 19:34Speaker 2: the team day. I think everybody should get out there.
- 19:36Speaker 2: So you wouldn't want to go out there and meet
- 19:38Speaker 2: a coach then.
- 19:38Speaker 3: No, I mean that's fine if I'm invited me. Yeah,
- 19:41Speaker 3: if I'm invited, I have to go.
- 19:43Speaker 4: I'll go. Yeah, he's right there in front of you. Yeah, Hey,
- 19:46Speaker 4: it's nice.
- 19:47Speaker 3: I'm good honestly joking aside, it would be it would
- 19:50Speaker 3: be cool to meet will Stein for similar ages. We
- 19:54Speaker 3: know a lot of the same people, so it would
- 19:56Speaker 3: be fun to talk to him.
- 19:57Speaker 4: But you know a lot of the same people.
- 19:59Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean he's friends with like a lot of
- 20:01Speaker 3: the friend group of Nick Roush, TJ Walker, Steven Peak,
- 20:05Speaker 3: both guys like that. I mean, we're all right around
- 20:07Speaker 3: the same age.
- 20:08Speaker 4: Oh really, yeah, okay.
- 20:10Speaker 3: I mean while I don't know a lot of their
- 20:13Speaker 3: friend I mean yeah, we would know.
- 20:15Speaker 4: Several old I didn't know they were all buddy buddy
- 20:17Speaker 4: with him. Really nice. Good for them.
- 20:20Speaker 3: So TJ's one of his main friend groups also was
- 20:26Speaker 3: friends with will st. I don't know how it all
- 20:28Speaker 3: worked out, but they each had a friend group who
- 20:30Speaker 3: were like hung out with each other, but they never
- 20:32Speaker 3: really hung out. But whatever I'm spewing out, Wow, this
- 20:36Speaker 3: is fascinating radio radio. That's okay, let's break.
- 20:39Speaker 4: I like that.
- 20:40Speaker 2: We've been talking entirely too long. I've gotten come long long.
- 20:43Speaker 2: I know we got to say take a break. Five
- 20:44Speaker 2: O two three four fourteen fifty. You want to call
- 20:46Speaker 2: in five O two four one four fourteen fifty. If
- 20:50Speaker 2: you want to text in on the whiskey thief text line.
- 20:52Speaker 2: We'll get to those when we get back, or you
- 20:53Speaker 2: can tweet me at just the cat Raia Plus you
- 20:55Speaker 2: can listen to us on YouTube at Big X Sports
- 20:59Speaker 2: Radio Louisville. Stay right there, we'll be right back. This
- 21:02Speaker 2: is Justica.
- 21:03Speaker 5: You are the man.
- 21:09Speaker 4: With me on this church Pew barstood.
- 21:18Speaker 1: Last week. You don't belong on this tail games.
- 21:36Speaker 6: You gotta smile.
- 21:37Speaker 4: That can be on Broadway.
- 21:39Speaker 7: I can see you in a red dress them and
- 21:42Speaker 7: no city lines.
- 21:47Speaker 6: You're shining brider than faces. If my cousin know why,
- 21:52Speaker 6: I would take this thing out.
- 21:54Speaker 7: A four wheel drive and get us there tonight.
- 22:00Speaker 3: That's really good. I don't think i've heard this song before.
- 22:05Speaker 3: Oh it is his wife's in this music video. Oh really, Yeah,
- 22:09Speaker 3: she's a sweet lady.
- 22:10Speaker 4: First first music video. I believe this was the first
- 22:13Speaker 4: music video she was ever in. Oh good for them?
- 22:15Speaker 2: Yeah, well, uh, you know it cracks me up. Right
- 22:20Speaker 2: before we came back on the air, there's an advertisement
- 22:23Speaker 2: again for U of L and the guy goes, hey,
- 22:26Speaker 2: card fans. You think there are card fans listening to
- 22:29Speaker 2: this show? Very many of them?
- 22:30Speaker 3: Michael, Do you not understand how radio brought it doesn't
- 22:33Speaker 3: matter anship they should.
- 22:35Speaker 2: They should just say, hey, cat fans, if you'd like
- 22:37Speaker 2: to get your NBA because you live in Louisville, then
- 22:40Speaker 2: come to u of L and get an NBA there.
- 22:42Speaker 2: That's what I would say. I wouldn't say, hey, cards
- 22:45Speaker 2: fan on a UK show, Well, it's what am.
- 22:48Speaker 3: I wrong about this? That is a Mike Rutherford sponsor.
- 22:51Speaker 2: Oh then I really want to knock this one.
- 22:55Speaker 3: Well, I mean that's fine, but I mean there's a
- 22:57Speaker 3: certain allotment of commercials that they have to fit in
- 22:59Speaker 3: every for them, and sometimes they just fall during your show.
- 23:03Speaker 2: Nothing personal, it is personal, but you make it. I
- 23:06Speaker 2: never liked that it's personal.
- 23:08Speaker 4: It's not.
- 23:08Speaker 2: It's business. It's not personal. Business is personal. Just to
- 23:11Speaker 2: let you know you make it personal. Absolutely, I do,
- 23:15Speaker 2: because I like to have a little fun with that.
- 23:18Speaker 2: You think I'm really serious. Yeah, I'm probably a little serious,
- 23:21Speaker 2: but I do have fun with it, because you've mentioned
- 23:23Speaker 2: in a number I do have fun with it though.
- 23:25Speaker 2: So but hey, by the way, yesterday I know Larry
- 23:29Speaker 2: Bot's going to make fun of me, but I missed it.
- 23:32Speaker 2: I promised I would go and I didn't have a
- 23:34Speaker 2: chance to go. UK Volleyball had their media day yesterday. Yeah, yeah,
- 23:39Speaker 2: I know, I know, thanks all.
- 23:41Speaker 4: I promised on air. I did I promise on air?
- 23:44Speaker 4: Oh boy?
- 23:45Speaker 2: Well it started at ten thirty, it's or eleven o'clock.
- 23:48Speaker 2: It's like, how do you expect me to get there
- 23:50Speaker 2: in time for that?
- 23:51Speaker 4: I can't make it. Plus I got other jobs.
- 23:54Speaker 3: I mean I could have covered the last fifteen minutes
- 23:56Speaker 3: of the show for you.
- 23:57Speaker 2: Oh yeah, oh sure now you okay, Well you do
- 24:00Speaker 2: for me tomorrow? Then no, because there's nothing going on tomorrow.
- 24:03Speaker 2: Well exactly, but well there might be something going on,
- 24:05Speaker 2: but no. But UK Volleyball had their media day yesterday.
- 24:11Speaker 2: Congratulations Craig Skinner. And we're gonna have him on next
- 24:16Speaker 2: couple of weeks, okay, because I do promise Craig on
- 24:19Speaker 2: that one. And he wore a T shirt yesterday. It
- 24:22Speaker 2: had a picture of himself on it to promote himself
- 24:25Speaker 2: and UK Volleyball. I love I did too. I loved it,
- 24:29Speaker 2: and I love the way Craig Skinner embraces this. Uh
- 24:33Speaker 2: he's out there promoting it. I mean, he's doing it.
- 24:36Speaker 2: They are going to be playing on television the women's
- 24:40Speaker 2: volleyball team at the University of Kentucky eleven times on
- 24:44Speaker 2: National TV. How do you like that? That's the most
- 24:48Speaker 2: in program history? Congratulations? And and then ESPN was asking, well,
- 24:54Speaker 2: is here a game that we should really spotlight and
- 24:56Speaker 2: playing on ABC? And Craig Skinner said, well, by golly,
- 25:00Speaker 2: there is. Which one do you think he wants to spotlight?
- 25:05Speaker 2: I'll let you guess two guests. Is you should only
- 25:07Speaker 2: get it in one guess? Do I get multiple choice?
- 25:12Speaker 5: No?
- 25:12Speaker 2: Because if I gave you the names, you're gonna guess
- 25:14Speaker 2: which one it is. Then you're looking it up.
- 25:16Speaker 4: You can't look it up. It's not an SEC team.
- 25:19Speaker 2: Come on Aska, Oh come on now, think about where
- 25:23Speaker 2: we're living, Louisville, exactly they're gonna play. So he said,
- 25:27Speaker 2: here's the team we need to have on ABC. U
- 25:30Speaker 2: of L So September twentieth, at three o'clock UK is
- 25:35Speaker 2: going to be and this is a Sunday be playing
- 25:38Speaker 2: volleyball on ABC. And I think that is so awesome
- 25:43Speaker 2: And clearly this has got to help recruiting in a
- 25:47Speaker 2: gigantic way.
- 25:48Speaker 3: Two weeks prior to that, they're on Fox. Well let
- 25:51Speaker 3: me go through that game. Well, we're gonna talk about that.
- 25:54Speaker 2: So here's the schedule as far as their national televised games.
- 25:58Speaker 2: Friday August twenty four, which is not gonna be that
- 26:01Speaker 2: far down the road. They're gonna be playing Wisconsin on
- 26:03Speaker 2: ESPN nine o'clock. Great, I have a game, then, oh
- 26:06Speaker 2: you do, Okay, we can record it Sunday, August twenty
- 26:10Speaker 2: third on ESPN. Pittsburgh September second, ESPN two Ucla. They're
- 26:16Speaker 2: gonna play one on Fox because it's gonna be September
- 26:19Speaker 2: sixth at Penn State. So that makes sense. No, that's
- 26:21Speaker 2: the Wrigley Field game. Oh it is, okay, that's the
- 26:23Speaker 2: one time where you look field.
- 26:24Speaker 4: Thank you.
- 26:25Speaker 2: September ninth, North Carolina the SEC Network. Then September twentieth,
- 26:29Speaker 2: as I just mentioned, on ABC versus U of L.
- 26:34Speaker 2: I think that's just incredible. Vanderbilt September twenty third, SEC Network, Texas,
- 26:39Speaker 2: September twenty seventh on the ESPN. October fourth on ESPN
- 26:43Speaker 2: versus Florida, SEC Network, October twenty first, versus Tennessee, ESPN
- 26:50Speaker 2: Texas A and M October twenty firth. And then of
- 26:53Speaker 2: course you got in November the SEC Tournament, which is
- 26:57Speaker 2: gonna be played on the SECA Network US as well
- 27:01Speaker 2: as the regular SEC network.
- 27:02Speaker 3: And you've got a Paradise Invitational in the Bahamas. That's
- 27:06Speaker 3: exactly where you're gonna have two games. Both of those
- 27:08Speaker 3: will also be on the I just.
- 27:10Speaker 4: Listen of anybody at UK.
- 27:14Speaker 2: I'm the happiest for Craig Skinner and what he has
- 27:19Speaker 2: accomplished there. And like you know, I teased last year
- 27:23Speaker 2: when he came on the show with us that he
- 27:25Speaker 2: needs a raise. I'm telling you again, Jay Batt, I'm
- 27:28Speaker 2: calling you out. The first person you need to give
- 27:32Speaker 2: a raise at the University Kentucky. It's Craig Skinner. Didn't
- 27:35Speaker 2: he just get a raise, doesn't matter, he needs another one.
- 27:38Speaker 2: He deserves it. Between him and Kenny Brooks, those are
- 27:41Speaker 2: the two guys I'm gonna say that deserve a raised
- 27:44Speaker 2: two day and if you got a list there, I'm
- 27:50Speaker 2: almost willing to say no, probably not. Let's play some
- 27:53Speaker 2: games first. But I was gonna say will Stein, but no,
- 27:56Speaker 2: let's not do that. I listen, I think number one,
- 27:59Speaker 2: Craig Skinner, any Brooks after that, maybe Nick Minjem, but
- 28:05Speaker 2: I want to see some games this year. Uh and
- 28:08Speaker 2: uh not mock aprope yet, Let's just see how the
- 28:10Speaker 2: season plays out.
- 28:13Speaker 5: Oh.
- 28:14Speaker 3: Absolutely, Harry Mullins should be the top. Tell me why because.
- 28:20Speaker 2: Rifle has been the most dominating sport UK.
- 28:25Speaker 4: Do you know Harry Mullins rifle? I met him? I don't.
- 28:31Speaker 3: I was like, I was like, I'm gonna say this name.
- 28:33Speaker 3: No way, no way, Michael knows his son.
- 28:36Speaker 4: I wouldn't know who that was. That's crazy. I love that.
- 28:39Speaker 2: No, because rifle is probably the best in the country
- 28:44Speaker 2: at University of Kentucky.
- 28:45Speaker 4: Yeah, wait, yeah, suck it. Where's Corey when I need him?
- 28:49Speaker 4: Suck it?
- 28:49Speaker 2: Scoots there you go. But h anyway, I just I
- 28:53Speaker 2: had to talk about that. Yeah, I'm I believe it
- 28:56Speaker 2: or not. I got that one out of my butt.
- 28:58Speaker 2: But uh, anyway, one Texter said, if you're looking for
- 29:01Speaker 2: a new insult to use, my favorite is jam boy.
- 29:05Speaker 2: Google it if you would like radio friendly. He says,
- 29:09Speaker 2: all right, you want to look that up. I've never
- 29:11Speaker 2: heard of jam boy. Um in this That's the one
- 29:19Speaker 2: segment with Matthew that I probably miss the most.
- 29:22Speaker 4: Is learning the gen Z. I don't really get it.
- 29:27Speaker 4: Oh you don't, Okay, just read it.
- 29:29Speaker 3: It says the term jamboy refers to a colonial urban legend,
- 29:33Speaker 3: an indie video game, a nickname for entrepreneur Fraser Doherty,
- 29:38Speaker 3: or a children's novel.
- 29:39Speaker 2: I don't get it either. Okay, well I'm missing something,
- 29:43Speaker 2: mister Illinois. You'll have to explain to us what you
- 29:45Speaker 2: mean by that.
- 29:46Speaker 4: We're old Illinois.
- 29:47Speaker 2: Got yeah, Well, well speak for yourself. You are a
- 29:51Speaker 2: podcast running ap Thoughts Guy. You and Michael need to
- 29:53Speaker 2: watch a clip during a break. It's the it's Tim
- 29:58Speaker 2: Allen being interviewed by Nor McDonald, by the way podcast
- 30:02Speaker 2: Random Thoughts Guy.
- 30:03Speaker 4: I watched it.
- 30:05Speaker 2: It's one of the funniest interviews I've ever seen. And
- 30:08Speaker 2: and you could tell Norm McDonald as a comedian feared
- 30:13Speaker 2: absolutely nothing. Were you a Norm McDonald fan?
- 30:16Speaker 4: By the way.
- 30:17Speaker 3: He had his moments where I thought he was good,
- 30:20Speaker 3: but for the most part, I don't.
- 30:21Speaker 4: His humor is not really my Oh. I loved it
- 30:24Speaker 4: when when when he was on Conan O'Brien many many
- 30:27Speaker 4: years ago, and they had some actress on there that
- 30:31Speaker 4: was on a TV show and she had just finished
- 30:34Speaker 4: filming a movie with Carrot Top, who I never thought
- 30:38Speaker 4: was funny. No, and uh.
- 30:40Speaker 2: And uh it was it was, and Conan says, yeah,
- 30:46Speaker 2: you know you're promoting your movie title unknown and she
- 30:49Speaker 2: quickly says, uh no, no, no, we know in the
- 30:51Speaker 2: name it's called Chairman of the Board and Norm and
- 30:56Speaker 2: Conan says, yeah, take that, you freak talking to normic
- 31:00Speaker 2: Ronald saying have a comeback with that. He says, yeah,
- 31:02Speaker 2: I bet the board is spelled b O r E ED.
- 31:06Speaker 2: And I thought that was just a brilliant comeback. There
- 31:09Speaker 2: are many times that he has just come back because
- 31:12Speaker 2: if you go back and watch Saurday Night Live, some
- 31:15Speaker 2: of the executives at Saturday Night Live did our NBC
- 31:18Speaker 2: didn't like him as as much as he picked on
- 31:21Speaker 2: OJ Simpson during the trial, and I mean nor McDonald
- 31:25Speaker 2: went after him like it was awesome. But you should
- 31:29Speaker 2: you should go back and watch some of those clips.
- 31:31Speaker 2: But yeah, but yes, thank you podcast random guys. I
- 31:34Speaker 2: had never seen that before. I never knew Tim Allen
- 31:37Speaker 2: had been arrested for drugs. Learn some every Day exactly.
- 31:40Speaker 2: Did you watch the clip? Oh?
- 31:42Speaker 4: Yeah, I showed it.
- 31:42Speaker 3: To about to say pretty well, watched it together. Yeah,
- 31:45Speaker 3: sorry about that, It's okay, Yeah, I know we get
- 31:48Speaker 3: a little too much, uh, Zach texted out, Josh, uh,
- 31:52Speaker 3: you're not keen on an old Camaro or Mustang. Michael,
- 31:57Speaker 3: that's an American. Yeah, yeah, sorry, I just an old
- 32:04Speaker 3: Camaro or a Mustang does absolutely I know it's gonna
- 32:08Speaker 3: blow your mind. Does nothing for me? Are you big
- 32:11Speaker 3: into Camaros and Mustangs? Much much more Mustang than Camaros
- 32:16Speaker 3: like a Shelby dah. Those old Mustangs are freaking does
- 32:21Speaker 3: nothing for me. I wouldn't want it. I see the
- 32:24Speaker 3: problem I have with old cars. Every time I get
- 32:26Speaker 3: in one, they kind of smell like old cars. No,
- 32:28Speaker 3: that's the attraction to them. No, I like new car smell.
- 32:33Speaker 3: Old car smells kind of gross. I'm okay with smell.
- 32:37Speaker 3: But then again, my first car was an old car.
- 32:39Speaker 4: Oh it was okay. Uh.
- 32:41Speaker 2: Jamie texts it out. Just cruise down Preston Highway starting
- 32:44Speaker 2: today and you'll see them everywhere. Really for the n
- 32:49Speaker 2: h r A hot Rod Show. What does n hr
- 32:52Speaker 2: A stand for National hot Rod I've bet at stands
- 32:55Speaker 2: for a National hot Rod Associations.
- 32:56Speaker 3: I think you're probably right. How you like that one?
- 32:59Speaker 4: Yes, I I'm two for two. It's pretty good man.
- 33:04Speaker 4: How you put that together? Listen.
- 33:07Speaker 2: I have no idea what's going on in my life today,
- 33:09Speaker 2: but it's crazy today, one person said. Josh said, I
- 33:13Speaker 2: wish I wasn't into old cars. It would save me
- 33:16Speaker 2: thousand dollars and a few marshall few marital disputes. They
- 33:22Speaker 2: used to give away two hundred and fifty thousand dollars
- 33:26Speaker 2: hot rod every year. Oh wow, but the money got
- 33:31Speaker 2: too deep. Companies show off their new products, sell existing ones,
- 33:35Speaker 2: and car folks come from all.
- 33:38Speaker 4: Over the world.
- 33:39Speaker 2: Really, Oh yeah, a few folks have shipped their cars
- 33:43Speaker 2: here from Australia. All right, So are these Australian people
- 33:48Speaker 2: American cars they're shipping here?
- 33:51Speaker 4: That's I mean?
- 33:52Speaker 2: Is there qualifications that a hot rod has to be
- 33:54Speaker 2: an American car? I honestly don't know this. And now, Josh,
- 33:59Speaker 2: I'm fastening by this. Please somebody out there tell me.
- 34:02Speaker 2: Do these cars have to be American? And if they're
- 34:05Speaker 2: shipping it from Australia justin that's the craziest thing I've
- 34:09Speaker 2: ever heard of. He did send this to me earlier
- 34:11Speaker 2: that the criteria for this saying used to be that
- 34:14Speaker 2: the car had to be nineteen forty nine or older.
- 34:18Speaker 2: But now it's just it has to be thirty years old.
- 34:22Speaker 2: Thirty years old is not that old, though it's not
- 34:25Speaker 2: I can confirm. I mean, thirty years old would be
- 34:29Speaker 2: nineteen ninety six. That's not old. Interesting. What are the
- 34:35Speaker 2: qualifications to have a historic car license? How old does
- 34:39Speaker 2: a car have to be?
- 34:39Speaker 4: Do you know that? I have no idea. And I
- 34:42Speaker 4: saw a car the other day.
- 34:43Speaker 2: It's like it had one of those license plates on it, like,
- 34:46Speaker 2: that's not that old, and then it says like, no, Bennett,
- 34:48Speaker 2: you're getting old. U. There is a woman's world for
- 34:53Speaker 2: the spouses to buy quilts and what nots a large
- 34:57Speaker 2: swap meat to sell vincheance car parts. But basically it's
- 35:00Speaker 2: the largest gathering of car people in the world. Think
- 35:04Speaker 2: of it as a four day long tailgate. Wow, that's
- 35:10Speaker 2: just unfreaking believable. I mean, they spend all day there,
- 35:14Speaker 2: do they read?
- 35:15Speaker 3: These guys would leave the hotel at six seven in
- 35:19Speaker 3: the morning and they wouldn't get back till seven or
- 35:21Speaker 3: eight at night.
- 35:22Speaker 2: That sounds exhausting. That sounds like me going to horse
- 35:25Speaker 2: auctions and it's getting ready to start next month at Keenlin.
- 35:29Speaker 2: So yeah, that's that's just crazy. But anyway, Uh, I
- 35:33Speaker 2: don't just stare at that a little longer. Uh five
- 35:35Speaker 2: o two three eight four fourteen fifty five two four
- 35:38Speaker 2: one four fourteen fifty you're on YouTube, man, Uh your
- 35:42Speaker 2: contexted think I care you're picking your eye. Then you're
- 35:46Speaker 2: just kind of looking at It's like, dude, you're on YouTube.
- 35:48Speaker 2: People are watching you whatever you're doing.
- 35:50Speaker 3: I was actually looking at a pin mark of the
- 35:52Speaker 3: I'm trying to figure out where that case.
- 35:53Speaker 2: The thing you don't want to do while we're on
- 35:56Speaker 2: YouTube is picking your nose or pick my nose all a,
- 35:58Speaker 2: Oh my god, please don't anyway, don't flick the running ones. Okay,
- 36:04Speaker 2: but we gotta take another break. Uh and uh when
- 36:07Speaker 2: we come back and we've got a few other things
- 36:09Speaker 2: we're gonna talk about. We got a long way to
- 36:10Speaker 2: go before we've done the show. Okay, people, they're right there,
- 36:13Speaker 2: and that's well, who's sang that?
- 36:15Speaker 4: Jerry Ellis now?
- 36:19Speaker 3: Oh yeah, Jerry's Jerry Jerry Reeves.
- 36:23Speaker 4: That's it. Yes, terrible song. Anyway, I'd like this song better.
- 36:27Speaker 4: They right there. This is just a day somehow.
- 37:04Speaker 6: Yeah, we jack them up, throw it down, let the
- 37:07Speaker 6: flows up the ground inside of them count light, play football,
- 37:12Speaker 6: watermel and crawl and live for the Friday nights. Yeah,
- 37:16Speaker 6: we front port, swing and knee and dream. We all
- 37:20Speaker 6: do our best when that big flag is flying.
- 37:26Speaker 4: I just like seeing you get mad at me. Oh,
- 37:29Speaker 4: come on, which I like this song. It's a good one.
- 37:31Speaker 4: You know it's good an Oh it's not.
- 37:36Speaker 3: Okay, all right, I'm having that issue with the Really,
- 37:39Speaker 3: I don't really know why it sounds good to me,
- 37:41Speaker 3: but it's the air. Oh that's stinks. It's only coming
- 37:44Speaker 3: out of one channel. I don't get weird. Okay, it's
- 37:46Speaker 3: been fine all morning. All right, Well, no worries. I
- 37:49Speaker 3: won't do that again. Pretty cool yesterday to see Mark
- 37:52Speaker 3: Pope take his coaching staff uh to the Lexington's I
- 37:56Speaker 3: would have to say, probably Lexington's biggest staple. And I
- 38:01Speaker 3: guarantee you've never heard of it. Wheelers Pharmacy never Okay,
- 38:05Speaker 3: that's okay, and I get it.
- 38:07Speaker 4: When's the last time you were in Lexington? Would have been? God?
- 38:12Speaker 4: Was there one year? One day? Last year? You were? Okay? Yeah,
- 38:16Speaker 4: I went there for I guess I was calling a
- 38:17Speaker 4: game or something.
- 38:18Speaker 2: Okay, Well, so Wheeler's Pharmacy is u where all the
- 38:24Speaker 2: coaches go a few times. I know Coach Hall would
- 38:27Speaker 2: go there quite a bit. He loved going to Wheelers.
- 38:30Speaker 2: Oscar Combs loves going there, and I'll go with him
- 38:33Speaker 2: every now and then.
- 38:34Speaker 4: But it was fun seeing Coach Pope.
- 38:37Speaker 2: What surprised me is that this was Pope's first time
- 38:41Speaker 2: going and he's been there. I mean we're going on
- 38:45Speaker 2: three years now, well two years right now, and I
- 38:47Speaker 2: was kind of surprised by that, and so that was cool.
- 38:51Speaker 2: It was kind of fun seeing them get a picture
- 38:54Speaker 2: with a former UK radio color right now you're under
- 39:00Speaker 2: Kwood Ledford and play by play announcer after Kwood retired,
- 39:04Speaker 2: Ralph Hacker. Uh, because he was one of my favorite
- 39:07Speaker 2: radio guys. I enjoyed listening to Ralph Hacker growing up.
- 39:10Speaker 2: But I just thought that was kind of neat and
- 39:13Speaker 2: it made me think, it's like, Okay, there aren't many
- 39:18Speaker 2: pharmacies that have sit down restaurants anymore, so this would
- 39:23Speaker 2: be like Wagoners. That's exactly correct. But Wagner's isn't a
- 39:28Speaker 2: pharmacy anymore, is it? I think Wheeler I think it is.
- 39:34Speaker 2: I don't know, but is there other let's talk about this.
- 39:38Speaker 2: I don't know about Lexing, but Louisville. I couldn't think
- 39:41Speaker 2: of any other place that has a sit down counter
- 39:45Speaker 2: where you can sit at a counter and eat other
- 39:47Speaker 2: than Wagner's. And Wagner's longtime staple here in Louisville. When
- 39:52Speaker 2: we have guests from out of town, that's one of
- 39:55Speaker 2: the first things we'll do is take him. We'll take
- 39:57Speaker 2: them to the backside if they want to go see
- 39:58Speaker 2: excuse me horses, and then we'll go have breakfast at Wagner's.
- 40:03Speaker 4: Is there another place goody well? To me? It is.
- 40:07Speaker 2: Is there another place in Louisville or surrounding areas you
- 40:12Speaker 2: can I couldn't think of eating one either. Yeah, but
- 40:17Speaker 2: but I mean, I mean local Wafflell House is a
- 40:20Speaker 2: good choice, by the way. Every time I go there
- 40:23Speaker 2: and have breakfast, it's always two eggs sunny side up,
- 40:26Speaker 2: two pork chops and breakfast. Oh yeah, pork chops with
- 40:32Speaker 2: what's the hash browns and white toast.
- 40:36Speaker 4: Ah.
- 40:37Speaker 2: That's that's good living right there, by the way. I
- 40:39Speaker 2: was at Derek Queen last weekend and this older gentleman
- 40:43Speaker 2: I enjoyed talking to him. He asked me if I
- 40:45Speaker 2: wanted his uh, gravy.
- 40:51Speaker 3: He did.
- 40:52Speaker 2: He said, Sir, I haven't touched this gravy yet. I'd
- 40:54Speaker 2: be happy. First thing, the first thing I thought of
- 40:57Speaker 2: was you.
- 40:58Speaker 4: Is like man was here, he'd take it. But no,
- 41:01Speaker 4: I didn't.
- 41:03Speaker 2: No, of course not no. It was like, Sir, I
- 41:08Speaker 2: really appreciate that. And I didn't want him to feel
- 41:11Speaker 2: bad and thinking, gross, I don't want your stuff. So
- 41:13Speaker 2: I proceeded to tell him the honest truth, I don't
- 41:16Speaker 2: really care for gravy. And he looked at me said, boy,
- 41:20Speaker 2: are you okay?
- 41:23Speaker 4: Great?
- 41:24Speaker 2: Respond exactly, and then he proceeds to sit down with
- 41:27Speaker 2: me and watch me eat my breakfast. I had the
- 41:30Speaker 2: best conversation with the gentleman I had never met before
- 41:33Speaker 2: in my life, and he just started telling me stories
- 41:36Speaker 2: about his life.
- 41:37Speaker 4: And he proceeds.
- 41:38Speaker 2: He asked me, well, we'll tell me what you do,
- 41:40Speaker 2: and I told him. He goes, oh, I've been in
- 41:42Speaker 2: horse racing before. I used to own horses as well.
- 41:44Speaker 2: Then he tells me about all the horses he's town.
- 41:47Speaker 2: It was a great conversation and I loved every second.
- 41:50Speaker 2: But I'm trying to think. I wish somebody would tell
- 41:53Speaker 2: me is there another sit down restaurant here in town
- 41:56Speaker 2: that's kind of like Wheelers in Lexington, and I just
- 42:00Speaker 2: besides Wagner's, I think that's kind of it. And the
- 42:02Speaker 2: only other place I used to think of where a
- 42:04Speaker 2: lot of athletes and who's who used to go, which
- 42:08Speaker 2: has been closed since I think the nineties, was placed
- 42:11Speaker 2: called Hassen Hours. My dad used to go there all
- 42:15Speaker 2: the time, and Paul Horning would go there. All these
- 42:19Speaker 2: great athletes used to go to Hassan Hours and have lunch.
- 42:24Speaker 2: But I can't think of anyplace else. What's the place
- 42:26Speaker 2: that's a.
- 42:27Speaker 3: Home in the cheeseburger Kalin's That's the other place I
- 42:30Speaker 3: forget that. Yeah, well, after you, is that a place?
- 42:33Speaker 3: I mean, would you include Kalin's there? I don't think
- 42:36Speaker 3: I would. I've never been, so oh it's good.
- 42:38Speaker 2: Yeah, I listen, you won't ever hear me say a
- 42:41Speaker 2: bad thing about Kalen's. But I was just kind of curious.
- 42:44Speaker 2: And but but I love that Mark Pope did this,
- 42:47Speaker 2: and I thought that was great for him to do that.
- 42:50Speaker 2: So uh, anyway, before we have takeoff, before the first
- 42:54Speaker 2: hour is over, UK baseball gets a class of twenty
- 42:57Speaker 2: eight commit yesterday out of a pitcher. He's out of Indiana,
- 43:03Speaker 2: but he's pitcher, Gavin McGee right hand pitcher. That is,
- 43:07Speaker 2: Are you ready for this? He's only a junior, going
- 43:09Speaker 2: to be a senior. We're at in indian Is that right? No,
- 43:13Speaker 2: he's a he's going to be a junior. It didn't
- 43:16Speaker 2: say so. Look him up, Gavin McGhee. Uh, and are
- 43:20Speaker 2: you are you ready for how fast he's throwing the baseball.
- 43:24Speaker 2: He's known to throw the baseball ninety four miles an hour.
- 43:28Speaker 2: That's pretty good. That's pretty good for a kid that's
- 43:31Speaker 2: a white only sixteen years old, if that so. But
- 43:35Speaker 2: but that's a big pickup. I think the only issue
- 43:38Speaker 2: that's gonna worry nickmanngeone is that man, he's got to
- 43:41Speaker 2: worry whether or not where he gets drafted in the MLB.
- 43:46Speaker 3: He is playing for the P twenty seven Baseball Academy.
- 43:50Speaker 3: Whatever that is.
- 43:51Speaker 2: I've literally never heard. So it doesn't say his hometown
- 43:54Speaker 2: is high school. He's from real in Indianapolis. Oh, he's
- 43:58Speaker 2: from Indie. Yeah, interesting that he chose UK and then
- 44:03Speaker 2: he I wonder if he even considered Indiana.
- 44:05Speaker 4: Why would you? Yeah, Indiana's awful. Yeah, And I.
- 44:10Speaker 3: Don't like talking about my school like that, but when
- 44:12Speaker 3: it comes to baseball, they're awful.
- 44:13Speaker 2: Well Big ten baseball is not that great. Yeah, so
- 44:16Speaker 2: we've talked about that before. But anyway, congratulations Nick minngon
- 44:20Speaker 2: on getting that recruit. So anyway, one person said quick
- 44:25Speaker 2: question here after the five for five injunction. Do you
- 44:28Speaker 2: think casual fans will start to tune out of college
- 44:32Speaker 2: and just go to pro sports? What do you think
- 44:36Speaker 2: justin my answer is gonna be No. I would say
- 44:39Speaker 2: no as well. Yeah, college sports is here to stay.
- 44:41Speaker 2: It's not gonna change. I don't think I always My
- 44:46Speaker 2: wife gives me a hard time if I say if
- 44:48Speaker 2: I'm completely honest because I'm lying the rest of the
- 44:50Speaker 2: time is what she says. But no, I just think
- 44:54Speaker 2: the one professional sport that's really struggling the most to
- 44:57Speaker 2: me is NBA.
- 45:03Speaker 4: Yeah. Probably, so I think they're just losing fans.
- 45:07Speaker 3: It's about to be baseball really when they don't play
- 45:11Speaker 3: next year, oh.
- 45:13Speaker 4: Because of the strike. Yeah, I hope that doesn't happen,
- 45:16Speaker 4: But it's hope all you want. It's going well.
- 45:19Speaker 2: See, And the reason I probably would agree with you
- 45:21Speaker 2: right there too is the other reason is we talked
- 45:24Speaker 2: about it yesterday because it's always the haves and have nots,
- 45:27Speaker 2: and my have not team is doing kind of pretty good.
- 45:30Speaker 2: I have enjoyed watching the Dodgers lose the last how
- 45:34Speaker 2: many games they lost in a rownex that's fine. So no, honestly, Texter,
- 45:40Speaker 2: I really believe even though the five or five injunction
- 45:44Speaker 2: is going through, I think the casual fan will always
- 45:47Speaker 2: watch college sports.
- 45:48Speaker 4: I mean, there's.
- 45:49Speaker 2: Nothing like you've said it this week, there's nothing like
- 45:52Speaker 2: watching SEC football. There's nothing like watching March madness. I
- 45:59Speaker 2: don't know how they're gonna lose them. I really don't.
- 46:02Speaker 2: I see how they're gonna lose fans on NBA and
- 46:05Speaker 2: MLB level. I just don't see them losing them in
- 46:08Speaker 2: the NFL. I don't see them losing them in the NHL.
- 46:13Speaker 2: So I don't know. I think the one sport that's
- 46:16Speaker 2: definitely gonna grow, as hard as it is for me
- 46:19Speaker 2: to say this is soccer.
- 46:22Speaker 4: Yeah, it's got nowhere else to go but up.
- 46:24Speaker 2: But up exactly. So all right, uh, we gotta take
- 46:27Speaker 2: a break. But when we come back for hour number two, uh,
- 46:31Speaker 2: I know Justin really wants to talk about this and
- 46:35Speaker 2: that's the Preakness. What what are they doing? I mean,
- 46:39Speaker 2: this is the craziest thing. Plus, I'll get back to
- 46:41Speaker 2: your text. I promise I'll answer that last text you
- 46:44Speaker 2: just sent me text her as well, So don't worry
- 46:46Speaker 2: about that.
- 46:46Speaker 4: I didn't miss it. I promise you. I didn't miss it.
- 46:48Speaker 4: We'll talk about it next.
- 46:49Speaker 2: Stay right there. One more hour Just the Cats coming
- 46:52Speaker 2: up on this Thursday.
- 46:53Speaker 6: The girl bands kids cannot couple more years. That's back,
- 47:00Speaker 6: she's all dressed and.
- 47:04Speaker 4: Hell it's just get.
- 47:09Speaker 1: Welcome to Just the Cats with Michael Bennett.
- 47:14Speaker 2: All right, hour number two. If you want to give
- 47:18Speaker 2: us a call, fave O two three eight four fourteen fifty.
- 47:20Speaker 2: If you want to Texas on the Whiskey t text line, Uh,
- 47:23Speaker 2: you can do that at five O two four one
- 47:25Speaker 2: four fourteen fifteen. Tweet me at Just the Cat Radio.
- 47:28Speaker 4: Uh.
- 47:28Speaker 2: So, Uh, yesterday the Preakness announced what their plan is
- 47:35Speaker 2: moving forward in response to what Churchill Downs and NYRA
- 47:40Speaker 2: is doing. NIRA being New York Racing Association up in
- 47:44Speaker 2: New York, the state of New York, and it was
- 47:47Speaker 2: an unusual decision as far as I'm concerned. Uh, they're
- 47:53Speaker 2: planning on moving the race not only back a week,
- 47:57Speaker 2: but back a week and a day. So now the
- 48:00Speaker 2: race is going to be sometimes on Memorial Day weekend,
- 48:04Speaker 2: on a Sunday of Memorial Day weekend. And they think
- 48:08Speaker 2: this is going to help as far as owners and
- 48:12Speaker 2: trainers wanting to now race and not skip the Preatness
- 48:16Speaker 2: to run there. And what they don't understand is why
- 48:20Speaker 2: would you do.
- 48:21Speaker 4: That when.
- 48:24Speaker 2: They should be working with Churchill Downs and I were
- 48:27Speaker 2: to figure a way, hey man, help us, help us,
- 48:30Speaker 2: help you instead of moving it by themselves. Now granted,
- 48:35Speaker 2: I respect NBC, but I'd love to know what the
- 48:38Speaker 2: contract is. They've retained NBC to broadcast this, but they're
- 48:43Speaker 2: not going to get the horses from the Derby coming.
- 48:46Speaker 2: This did not solve anything for the Triple Crown. This
- 48:51Speaker 2: just made it even worse.
- 48:53Speaker 3: Well, now you got what thirteen days between Preakness and Belmont? Yes,
- 48:58Speaker 3: so you yeah, you know you got more than that. Oh,
- 49:01Speaker 3: I'm sorry, thirteen days between but Priatness and Belmont. You're right,
- 49:04Speaker 3: So they solved the issue see Dike for Derby and Preakness,
- 49:08Speaker 3: But that that doesn't really solve anything because you're still
- 49:12Speaker 3: not gonna get horses running in all three Triple Crown races.
- 49:15Speaker 2: Well, their hope is is that the Belmont Stakes will
- 49:19Speaker 2: move back a week. Well that's not gonna work because
- 49:22Speaker 2: they've they've already instituted the whole Horse Racing Series Championship,
- 49:28Speaker 2: which if they're not gonna skip the Belmont because of
- 49:32Speaker 2: the extra five million dollars that these owners can and
- 49:36Speaker 2: trainers can win and jockeys if they win the Horse
- 49:41Speaker 2: Racing Championship Series.
- 49:42Speaker 3: Preakness almost has to put out like a fifty million
- 49:46Speaker 3: dollars prize pool or something. That's the thing that's gonna intrigue.
- 49:50Speaker 2: Yeah, because well I loved how one person said on
- 49:54Speaker 2: the text, well maybe people should just skip the the
- 49:58Speaker 2: Derby and go to the Preakness instead. It's like, okay,
- 50:01Speaker 2: that was almost laughable. No, that was laughable. But I
- 50:04Speaker 2: just I'm sorry for them. But to me, of the
- 50:09Speaker 2: Triple Crown, the most irrelevant race of the three races
- 50:12Speaker 2: is the Preakness. It just is so people watch it
- 50:18Speaker 2: to see if the winner gets it. But if they
- 50:21Speaker 2: if the winner of the Derby wins the Preakness, then
- 50:23Speaker 2: they're all back to watching the Belmont to see if
- 50:28Speaker 2: they win the Triple Crown. But this is this is
- 50:31Speaker 2: not solving the governor screwed up. They should have been
- 50:34Speaker 2: in talks with Churchill, Downs and NIRA. Pimlico, the racetrack
- 50:39Speaker 2: where the Preakness is held, should have been in talks
- 50:41Speaker 2: with Churchill, Downs and NYRA to figure a way. Okay, guys,
- 50:46Speaker 2: I love what you're doing here. How can we be
- 50:48Speaker 2: a part of this. That's how you save horse racing
- 50:54Speaker 2: or at least a Triple Crown. I love this site.
- 50:57Speaker 2: I know there's a number of people that don't love
- 50:59Speaker 2: what they're doing, but listen, for the city of Louisville,
- 51:02Speaker 2: this is fantastic news. I hope people realize that Louisville
- 51:06Speaker 2: is now going to have three really big races.
- 51:10Speaker 3: I'm already resigned to the fact that the Triple crowns dead.
- 51:15Speaker 3: I am too, unless they figure way to change it.
- 51:19Speaker 4: Now.
- 51:20Speaker 2: If if the Belmont Stakes does say okay, we'll move
- 51:22Speaker 2: it back a week, then maybe it's gonna be saved.
- 51:25Speaker 2: But I guarantee you Belmont's not interested.
- 51:28Speaker 3: Well at that point, then does it become a seven
- 51:31Speaker 3: race championship series? Is that in the cards?
- 51:37Speaker 2: Well, it just depends on you mean including Preatna's. Yeah,
- 51:41Speaker 2: that's only only if they utilize it, But no a
- 51:44Speaker 2: part right now, they're not a part of the series.
- 51:47Speaker 3: For them to be back into the equation, it feels
- 51:49Speaker 3: like that's what needs to happen. Yeah, you gotta just
- 51:51Speaker 3: go to a seven race Champion series move to Belmont.
- 51:54Speaker 2: Yeah, that's I just don't well, I don't know. Uh,
- 51:58Speaker 2: you got one where it's the Triple Crown and then
- 52:00Speaker 2: you go on from there. Hey, guess what, you can
- 52:02Speaker 2: win five million dollars if you win these other races,
- 52:04Speaker 2: including the Matt win and what of the other two
- 52:06Speaker 2: at Saratoga and then the last one that's unnamed at
- 52:09Speaker 2: Churchill in September. So the only thing that worries me
- 52:12Speaker 2: is that that race in September, will it get lost
- 52:15Speaker 2: because football season has now started?
- 52:19Speaker 4: Maybe?
- 52:19Speaker 2: So yeah, yeah, that's the only thing that worries me.
- 52:22Speaker 2: That's the beginning of college football season and NFL and
- 52:27Speaker 2: will that game get lost? Maybe you do it at
- 52:29Speaker 2: the end of August instead, then that would I don't
- 52:32Speaker 2: think the dates work. That's the problem. That's why you
- 52:34Speaker 2: can't do it in August. You got the other the
- 52:38Speaker 2: travers or whichever one they're talking about at Saratoga. That's
- 52:41Speaker 2: a part of the series, And.
- 52:42Speaker 3: What, honestly, what are the odds that that championship series
- 52:47Speaker 3: will come down to the last race. I don't feel
- 52:49Speaker 3: like that very often, that that's gonna be the kid.
- 52:52Speaker 4: Really, I don't know.
- 52:54Speaker 3: I mean I could be wrong there, but yeah, I
- 52:55Speaker 3: would like to think that by race four or five
- 52:58Speaker 3: we already have a really good idea of who's gonna.
- 53:00Speaker 4: Win this thing.
- 53:01Speaker 2: And if if if a horse wasn't able to make
- 53:04Speaker 2: the derby but then gets really hot by being in
- 53:07Speaker 2: the second, third, fourth, and fifth race, can they win it?
- 53:11Speaker 2: And then it gets really interesting. I don't know, Its
- 53:14Speaker 2: just it seems like you look at Golden Tempo, you
- 53:18Speaker 2: look at Sovereignty, uh, and you think, okay, those horses,
- 53:22Speaker 2: you just gotta believe they would have won it.
- 53:24Speaker 4: But I don't know.
- 53:24Speaker 2: You look at White a Barrow that came through and
- 53:27Speaker 2: uh uh and and beat all both of those horses
- 53:30Speaker 2: up at Saratoga, So you never know. I mean, can
- 53:34Speaker 2: there be a horse I need to learn more about this.
- 53:36Speaker 2: But the part I do like is the point system
- 53:38Speaker 2: they're doing.
- 53:38Speaker 3: How how That's what I was just gonna ask you
- 53:40Speaker 3: about how are they doing that?
- 53:42Speaker 4: I don't know yet. But the fact that you just
- 53:44Speaker 4: said the only part you know about is the point no, no, no, no,
- 53:47Speaker 4: no no, I said, I don't know about. No.
- 53:50Speaker 2: I did not say that. The only part I don't
- 53:53Speaker 2: know about is that. But but I I as the uh,
- 53:58Speaker 2: the point system. I do like though, that the guy
- 54:02Speaker 2: that really rejuvenated the popularity of F one racing is
- 54:06Speaker 2: involved in this point system with horse racing, and maybe
- 54:10Speaker 2: that is going to be a bit of a savior
- 54:12Speaker 2: there to help horse racing become popular again. I mean,
- 54:16Speaker 2: for some reason, we've got to figure a way to
- 54:18Speaker 2: not only have horse racing on the East coast, but
- 54:21Speaker 2: you gotta save West coast. And it's really a shame
- 54:24Speaker 2: that Gavin Newsom, the governor in California, just doesn't seem
- 54:27Speaker 2: to care about horse racing and what it means to
- 54:29Speaker 2: his state. So some ways, somehow they got to figure
- 54:32Speaker 2: that out. One person texted, and I'm gonna read it now.
- 54:35Speaker 2: I'm not sure I really understand texting what you're talking about,
- 54:38Speaker 2: so I might need you to text a little more
- 54:40Speaker 2: about what you're talking about, he said, Michael. When we will
- 54:42Speaker 2: ever get the Jared cricket experience. Again, you're gonna have
- 54:47Speaker 2: to explain that a little more. What do you mean
- 54:48Speaker 2: by the Jared Cricket experience. I don't know what you mean.
- 54:51Speaker 2: But Josh texted in the vehicle doesn't have to be
- 54:56Speaker 2: American made. There we go, And I can only speak
- 54:59Speaker 2: for Kentucy. But antique tags can't can be obtained if
- 55:03Speaker 2: it's twenty five years old and not used as an
- 55:07Speaker 2: everyday vehicle. My ninety six Impala SS has an antique tag. Wow, okay,
- 55:14Speaker 2: well I almost have one. Well wait, wait, wait, if
- 55:18Speaker 2: it's twenty five, I have one right now. I have
- 55:20Speaker 2: a nineteen ninety nine Toyota land Cruiser that probably qualifies.
- 55:26Speaker 2: What is the advantage of having an antique license? Is
- 55:29Speaker 2: there a tax advantage?
- 55:30Speaker 4: No?
- 55:31Speaker 5: No?
- 55:31Speaker 4: All right?
- 55:32Speaker 2: Did I explain everything? I felt like I left the
- 55:34Speaker 2: preatness thing right there with you hanging. No.
- 55:36Speaker 3: Yeah, no, I'm I'm good because I ran into it
- 55:39Speaker 3: a little bit yesterday. I just yeah, it's all. It's
- 55:42Speaker 3: all really confusing that I think they've got a long
- 55:45Speaker 3: way to go. They've got some things they still need
- 55:47Speaker 3: to figure out, but as of right now, it feels
- 55:50Speaker 3: like a decent solution. Maybe you'll get a few of
- 55:53Speaker 3: those derby horses just wanted to get in there. Maybe not,
- 55:56Speaker 3: who knows.
- 55:57Speaker 2: Yeah, I just it just it kind of had the
- 56:00Speaker 2: feeling this was a way for Churchill Downs to get
- 56:03Speaker 2: back at Maryland for not allowing Churchill Downs to buy
- 56:06Speaker 2: the preaknas.
- 56:07Speaker 3: Oh, it's definitely very dramatic, this whole situation.
- 56:10Speaker 2: Yeah, and then the governor coming there, Well, we're going
- 56:14Speaker 2: to show them, we'll push it back a week. Well
- 56:16Speaker 2: that just did nothing. That's the only thing I didn't
- 56:19Speaker 2: like is that it just kind of had that yucky
- 56:22Speaker 2: feel and Churchill Downs just got back at them and
- 56:25Speaker 2: excluded them. I would hope that Churchill Downs in Niwa
- 56:29Speaker 2: did talk to them and say, well, this is what
- 56:31Speaker 2: we're gonna do. Would you like to be a part
- 56:34Speaker 2: of it? Because the Triple Crown has been around, I mean,
- 56:37Speaker 2: it's a part of Americana, and I think that's what
- 56:40Speaker 2: people don't like when a tradition like that stops. And
- 56:44Speaker 2: it doesn't have to stop.
- 56:47Speaker 3: Well, I mean, I think everything across the landscape of
- 56:49Speaker 3: sports eventually has to change. I mean, look at where
- 56:53Speaker 3: we are with college athletics, right They've had to try
- 56:56Speaker 3: to navigate through some pretty choppy waters, and just feels
- 56:59Speaker 3: like racing's in a similar spot.
- 57:01Speaker 2: Well, I have to say, college athletics isn't a hurricane
- 57:05Speaker 2: right now. I mean, it's not choppy waters. I mean
- 57:08Speaker 2: it's just it's just been totally abused, blown up and
- 57:12Speaker 2: still in that process right now of figuring it out,
- 57:15Speaker 2: and until they do, it's still going to remain like that.
- 57:18Speaker 4: It's ridiculous.
- 57:19Speaker 2: So one person, let's see, Michelle said, going to see
- 57:23Speaker 2: Eric Clapton in September. Are you a fan? Michael, Yeah,
- 57:29Speaker 2: I like some of his stuff. Would I go see
- 57:31Speaker 2: him in concert? Probably not, But I do like some
- 57:34Speaker 2: of his stuff. What was that one song in Heaven
- 57:40Speaker 2: or Tears in Heaven or something? They played it so
- 57:43Speaker 2: much I got so sick. And it was about his
- 57:45Speaker 2: son that had unfortuate, his infant son that had passed
- 57:48Speaker 2: away or toddler, and I thought that was really sad,
- 57:50Speaker 2: but they played it so much. I got so sick
- 57:52Speaker 2: of it. Kind of like the Elton John song that
- 57:54Speaker 2: they they wrote for latea Lady Diana Are they rewrote,
- 57:59Speaker 2: change some of the lyrics. It's just like, Okay, they
- 58:01Speaker 2: played it so much. I can't stand that song. You
- 58:04Speaker 2: know which one I'm talking about?
- 58:05Speaker 4: Oh it's horrible.
- 58:07Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, let's see here. One person texted out checks.
- 58:15Speaker 2: What's he checks with the question mark? Oh yeah, they
- 58:18Speaker 2: get counterseating, but it's yeah, I guess. Oh yeah, but
- 58:23Speaker 2: that's not a local place. You mean Checkers?
- 58:26Speaker 4: No Checks? Oh? Checks? Yeah? Okay, what's Checks? I don't
- 58:30Speaker 4: know this, but.
- 58:31Speaker 3: Isn't that kind of a bar set up? So I
- 58:33Speaker 3: don't know if that really counts. Help me with Checks?
- 58:36Speaker 3: I don't know checks? Right down the street. Is it
- 58:39Speaker 3: really Bardstown Road? Huh you've never been.
- 58:42Speaker 2: I've never even heard of it. Let me see Okay, okay,
- 58:48Speaker 2: I'm not familiar with checks. I think that's a good one,
- 58:51Speaker 2: so uh it just let me get from Meg. Really yeah,
- 58:57Speaker 2: I love that name. There's something about Schnitzel or that's
- 59:00Speaker 2: just it sounds so Chinese. But joking, Michael, I do
- 59:06Speaker 2: like this point system. Scoots, how does it work? Michael?
- 59:09Speaker 2: I don't know? Thank you text? You did say that
- 59:16Speaker 2: this is what I'm here for. Never change, Love you guys,
- 59:19Speaker 2: and suck it, Scoots check the back seat? Uh okay,
- 59:23Speaker 2: thought for sure you said you knew about it.
- 59:26Speaker 4: Okay, No, I don't know anything. You I know. Well,
- 59:29Speaker 4: here's what I know. I know the guy. I think.
- 59:31Speaker 2: What I meant is the guy from F one is
- 59:35Speaker 2: that that really saved F one is going to be
- 59:37Speaker 2: a part of this UH point system introducing the horse racing.
- 59:41Speaker 2: That's the part I know. So other than how it's
- 59:44Speaker 2: going to be UH utilized. As far as points system,
- 59:48Speaker 2: I don't know. But Mike Ropoli, you know, as much
- 59:51Speaker 2: as I didn't like him and what was it called
- 59:55Speaker 2: Racing for the Crown on Netflix? Race for the Crown,
- 1:00:00Speaker 2: I have to say I'm starting to really like him
- 1:00:02Speaker 2: because he is really calling out a lot of people
- 1:00:05Speaker 2: in horse racing. He's doing his best to say horse racing.
- 1:00:08Speaker 2: Am I boring you?
- 1:00:09Speaker 4: No? Okay.
- 1:00:11Speaker 3: I'm just sitting here thinking how they need to do
- 1:00:13Speaker 3: another Netflix thing for the Championship series.
- 1:00:16Speaker 2: I'm bummed they don't do that. I want one for
- 1:00:18Speaker 2: the six race thing. You want one for the what
- 1:00:21Speaker 2: the six race? What do you mean the new thing
- 1:00:24Speaker 2: they're just implemented. I want a Netflix show based on
- 1:00:28Speaker 2: the six race Championship series. Oh oh, I see what
- 1:00:31Speaker 2: you're saying. Yeah yeah, buzz text and Michael The Preakness
- 1:00:34Speaker 2: has been the odd race out in the Triple Crown recently.
- 1:00:37Speaker 2: Now Churchill Downs and Naira exclude them in their latest venture.
- 1:00:41Speaker 2: Horsemen for years have stressed the three races are too
- 1:00:44Speaker 2: close together. This seems like an attempt to protect the
- 1:00:47Speaker 2: Preakness and keep it legitimate. My guess is they hope
- 1:00:51Speaker 2: the Belmont will move back as well, and that is true,
- 1:00:55Speaker 2: that is their hope that they do. Did Churchill Downs
- 1:00:58Speaker 2: and n Iraan negotiate with the Preakness before they announced the
- 1:01:01Speaker 2: news series? I have no idea, doesn't my guess exactly.
- 1:01:05Speaker 2: My guess is they did not, and which is really
- 1:01:08Speaker 2: a shame.
- 1:01:09Speaker 4: Uh.
- 1:01:09Speaker 2: The antique license also limits the amount of miles you
- 1:01:13Speaker 2: can drive yearly. Well, how do they watch that? All right, Jamie,
- 1:01:17Speaker 2: you tell me how does the state of Kentucky know?
- 1:01:21Speaker 2: I've not driven that car a lot.
- 1:01:23Speaker 4: More, probably turning your miles every year? Yeah, I mean
- 1:01:28Speaker 4: they can't. You can fudge that, like I don't know.
- 1:01:32Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 1:01:33Speaker 2: One person Checks is close to manual stadium spears can
- 1:01:38Speaker 2: tell you about it.
- 1:01:38Speaker 4: Yeah, they're big checks guys. Oh really, I've never never
- 1:01:43Speaker 4: heard of it. Interesting? Okay, Well, that's wild that I've
- 1:01:46Speaker 4: been to a place in Louisville. You have it?
- 1:01:48Speaker 3: I know that is interesting. I've been there on several occasions.
- 1:01:52Speaker 3: Really huh, it's good. But you said it's more like
- 1:01:55Speaker 3: a bar though, No it is, but they got good
- 1:01:58Speaker 3: food there. I feel like the counter seating setup is
- 1:02:02Speaker 3: more like a ball Oh okay, I see what you're saying.
- 1:02:06Speaker 4: Huh okay, Well what kind of food do they have? Uh?
- 1:02:10Speaker 3: Burgers, chicken, stuff like that, just American food.
- 1:02:16Speaker 2: One person texted, is Michael just going to gloss over?
- 1:02:19Speaker 2: How UK has a facility called nutterfield House? Nutter I've
- 1:02:23Speaker 2: hardly met her. Okay, that was yeah, it's what do
- 1:02:29Speaker 2: you mean, it's always been nutterfield House for a long time.
- 1:02:32Speaker 2: The thought came to my mind too.
- 1:02:33Speaker 4: There. Oh, you didn't know it was called nutterfield House.
- 1:02:36Speaker 2: How should I because I've mentioned it on this show. Okay,
- 1:02:41Speaker 2: that's their indoor football facility, so you have definitely heard
- 1:02:45Speaker 2: that before. Yeah. Uh, you know, I asked this question
- 1:02:52Speaker 2: last weekend or last Monday? All right, No, it was
- 1:02:55Speaker 2: last week, wasn't it. When did the whole Tony Romo
- 1:02:58Speaker 2: thing come down? Where he got a rested for OWI
- 1:03:01Speaker 2: was it last week or week before? I think it
- 1:03:03Speaker 2: was last week, And I asked the question, is is
- 1:03:06Speaker 2: this going to cause him to lose his job? And
- 1:03:10Speaker 2: it seems like because you kind of glossed over it
- 1:03:13Speaker 2: and like, nah, this is not I think it would no,
- 1:03:16Speaker 2: And it feels like CBS is either going to get
- 1:03:23Speaker 2: rid of him because they don't want to pay him
- 1:03:25Speaker 2: that amount of money anymore because they found out he's
- 1:03:27Speaker 2: really not that popular, and believe it or not, within
- 1:03:31Speaker 2: his CBS contract, there is a clause in it, a
- 1:03:36Speaker 2: morals clause. So he's got a ten year contract of
- 1:03:42Speaker 2: one hundred and eighty million that ends in twenty thirty,
- 1:03:46Speaker 2: so four years left eighteen million dollars a year. Do
- 1:03:51Speaker 2: you kind of get the feeling that they're just using
- 1:03:54Speaker 2: the moral clause as an excuse to get rid of him,
- 1:03:57Speaker 2: or do you think they're using it as to why
- 1:04:00Speaker 2: it was written in his contract.
- 1:04:03Speaker 3: I mean, look, he did it for six years, right,
- 1:04:06Speaker 3: so that's one hundred and eight million dollars. I don't
- 1:04:07Speaker 3: think Tony Romo probably cares all that much, but I
- 1:04:11Speaker 3: think he does. Maybe he does, Maybe he does, but
- 1:04:15Speaker 3: I just think for CBS it's an opportunity to get
- 1:04:18Speaker 3: someone younger into the booth, someone that maybe connects with
- 1:04:22Speaker 3: today's audience a little better. And I think jj Watt's
- 1:04:25Speaker 3: gonna be a great replacement. Oh oh, that would be
- 1:04:28Speaker 3: a really good really. Oh so they're even announcing that
- 1:04:32Speaker 3: they're gonna have jj Watt come in, So to me,
- 1:04:34Speaker 3: he's gone. They just said, yeah, they didn't necessarily use
- 1:04:38Speaker 3: the term fired, but feels like Tony Romo's probably does.
- 1:04:42Speaker 4: So Okay, what's taking so long? Then?
- 1:04:44Speaker 2: I bet is negotiating him out of his contract? Maybe,
- 1:04:47Speaker 2: so that's a even though there's a moral clause, they
- 1:04:50Speaker 2: can't just sit here and fire them. Their their lawyers
- 1:04:53Speaker 2: are meeting with each other on how let's let's just
- 1:04:55Speaker 2: pay him off and be done. Isn't that amazing You
- 1:04:58Speaker 2: put all this stuff into contract, yet it means nothing.
- 1:05:00Speaker 2: They're still gonna get money out of it. I just
- 1:05:03Speaker 2: it really is amazing to me how these people still
- 1:05:05Speaker 2: get money even though it clearly says in the contract
- 1:05:09Speaker 2: what you can and cannot do, and when you cannot
- 1:05:12Speaker 2: do those things, they still have to pay him off.
- 1:05:14Speaker 2: I don't know, do you think Tony Romo has been
- 1:05:17Speaker 2: a success at CBS. Do you think he's been a
- 1:05:19Speaker 2: good broadcaster? Yes, do you really? Okay, I've just not
- 1:05:23Speaker 2: cared for him. I've always liked to really okay, the
- 1:05:27Speaker 2: broadcaster of him? Yeah, yeah, I hear you. Well, I
- 1:05:30Speaker 2: just he's just a to me. Is kind of how
- 1:05:33Speaker 2: I feel. It's gonna be a sad day for me
- 1:05:36Speaker 2: when Jim Nance retires. I like Jim Nant. It's coming,
- 1:05:40Speaker 2: yeah it is, and it's coming closer I listen. I
- 1:05:43Speaker 2: miss him on the Masters. That to me, I probably
- 1:05:48Speaker 2: enjoyed him on golf announcing more than anything else. Golf
- 1:05:53Speaker 2: voice he really does. Uh And and I hate that.
- 1:05:57Speaker 2: I mean, that's a person I've grown up with. I mean,
- 1:06:00Speaker 2: I just I hate seeing that kind of stuff.
- 1:06:02Speaker 4: So I don't know. Is there Verne Lundquist is one
- 1:06:04Speaker 4: guy I really miss listening to him?
- 1:06:07Speaker 2: Do sec on CBS was one of my It didn't
- 1:06:11Speaker 2: matter who was playing, it could be Tennessee playing and
- 1:06:15Speaker 2: I would listen to him because he was he was
- 1:06:17Speaker 2: He was comforting to listen to. And I miss listening
- 1:06:21Speaker 2: to him. Is there a broadcaster today you dread the
- 1:06:25Speaker 2: day they say you know I'm done, Mike, I'm right
- 1:06:28Speaker 2: there with you. That was gonna be my name as well.
- 1:06:31Speaker 2: He's got that kind of voice. It's like he's welcoming.
- 1:06:34Speaker 2: I can't wait to listen to Mike to Rico love. Yeah,
- 1:06:39Speaker 2: and uh that will be kind of the dreaded day.
- 1:06:42Speaker 2: But he's got a long time to go. I was
- 1:06:44Speaker 2: like Greg Gumble, Yeah, Greg Gumbel, I thought did a
- 1:06:48Speaker 2: phenomenal job on March Madness. It was fun listening to him.
- 1:06:52Speaker 2: But uh, anyway, things change, and that's gonna be one
- 1:06:55Speaker 2: of those things. And I'm just gonna oh, well, at
- 1:06:58Speaker 2: least I was there to listen to all those guys,
- 1:07:00Speaker 2: Nance Burn Lundquist, Mike.
- 1:07:01Speaker 4: Tariko, Yeah, great Gumbel.
- 1:07:04Speaker 2: I just anyway, all right, we gotta take another break,
- 1:07:07Speaker 2: stay right there more just the cats coming right.
- 1:07:10Speaker 4: Well, we been.
- 1:07:12Speaker 7: I got me, We got the big old sun a
- 1:07:18Speaker 7: million places week ago. But there's no where as long
- 1:07:25Speaker 7: as I got you, baby, I got everything. There's a
- 1:07:41Speaker 7: girl to my left, headed home with the Hunts, going
- 1:07:45Speaker 7: to try to catch some balls in the yacht.
- 1:07:49Speaker 4: Here's a kid.
- 1:07:50Speaker 3: You can get mad at me all you want. Do
- 1:07:53Speaker 3: you sound dead on like Trevor Kelsey. I'm literally about
- 1:07:56Speaker 3: to walk out. Trevor Kelsey sounds like you, then, how's
- 1:07:58Speaker 3: that sound? No, I'm let I don't think you understand
- 1:08:02Speaker 3: how mad this is making me. Because as somebody with
- 1:08:05Speaker 3: a voice in sports talk radio and a voice with
- 1:08:08Speaker 3: play by play and everything I did, the last thing
- 1:08:10Speaker 3: I want to be told is that I sound like
- 1:08:12Speaker 3: anybody else.
- 1:08:13Speaker 4: Let alone, Trevor.
- 1:08:14Speaker 3: Kill don't get mad. I'm already I was already mad.
- 1:08:21Speaker 3: I was already mad because of my poison.
- 1:08:23Speaker 4: Ivy. Now this, oh no, this okay, Now, I'm with
- 1:08:27Speaker 4: you there.
- 1:08:27Speaker 2: I don't want to get you because for the people
- 1:08:29Speaker 2: that don't know, do they have you talked about this
- 1:08:31Speaker 2: on your show?
- 1:08:31Speaker 4: I did a little bit.
- 1:08:32Speaker 2: Okay, man, you look like you're miserable. I am miserab yeah,
- 1:08:36Speaker 2: and I am so sorry about that. Okay, I'll stop
- 1:08:40Speaker 2: teasing that you sound exactly like him. By the way,
- 1:08:43Speaker 2: a lot of people are looking at pictures of Mark
- 1:08:47Speaker 2: Stoops on the sidelines at Texas practice facility from yesterday.
- 1:08:53Speaker 2: Uh So, a Texas long harmed media member posted a
- 1:08:56Speaker 2: picture of Mark Stops and he had this black outfit
- 1:08:59Speaker 2: with burn orange john and is like, ah, jeez, that
- 1:09:02Speaker 2: is a weird look. You've seen the guy for the
- 1:09:05Speaker 2: last thirteen years, we're in blue and white. Now he's
- 1:09:08Speaker 2: wearing that. But good for him. I mean, I'm not
- 1:09:10Speaker 2: gonna be upset with him. The guy lost his job.
- 1:09:13Speaker 2: He wanted another job. He does want to get out
- 1:09:15Speaker 2: of there. I don't think that. There weren't many people
- 1:09:17Speaker 2: that were upset, but they were just like, ah, that
- 1:09:20Speaker 2: that orange looks.
- 1:09:21Speaker 4: It's just different.
- 1:09:22Speaker 3: Wasn't there like a story last week that he had
- 1:09:25Speaker 3: not reported to Texas yet or hadn't done anything.
- 1:09:28Speaker 2: Well, people said they had seen him in Lexington and
- 1:09:31Speaker 2: he hadn't been down in Austin. But he's down there.
- 1:09:34Speaker 2: He's gonna be one of their assistant coaches, and good
- 1:09:36Speaker 2: for him. I'm glad to see him. He'll get another
- 1:09:39Speaker 2: head coaching job. He will might not be a big
- 1:09:42Speaker 2: time program, but he'll get another head coaching job. You
- 1:09:45Speaker 2: don't think so, I don't. I'm not convinced of that now, Okay,
- 1:09:50Speaker 2: all right, then what I am? And I'm gonna stick
- 1:09:52Speaker 2: to it. So I think he will. He's a good coach,
- 1:09:55Speaker 2: he's got a good football mind. A lot of the
- 1:09:58Speaker 2: Texas fans are real excited because they want him to
- 1:10:03Speaker 2: take over the calling and coaching the defensive side. So anyway,
- 1:10:10Speaker 2: one person said. Secretaryot was euthanized due to lamani as.
- 1:10:13Speaker 2: Two days ago, the Triple Crown was put down and
- 1:10:16Speaker 2: pursue of television revenue. It was one hundred and seven
- 1:10:19Speaker 2: years old. Those thirteen winners are etched in stone, and
- 1:10:22Speaker 2: no horse going forward can match their accomplishment rearranging races
- 1:10:27Speaker 2: and shortening distance of classic races with What horse racing
- 1:10:33Speaker 2: needs is more superstars, like any sport.
- 1:10:38Speaker 4: I don't disagree with that.
- 1:10:39Speaker 2: I don't either, but I mean, we're all about protecting
- 1:10:42Speaker 2: the horse these days, and if trainers are gonna say,
- 1:10:45Speaker 2: hey man, those races are too close together, then we're
- 1:10:48Speaker 2: not going to have Triple Crown horses anymore. We're just
- 1:10:52Speaker 2: not so and I would rather see the horses protected
- 1:10:56Speaker 2: than we wanting to see more Triple Crown runners. One
- 1:11:01Speaker 2: person said, uh, scoots, I am so sorry. I didn't
- 1:11:05Speaker 2: mean to poke the bear.
- 1:11:06Speaker 3: It's all good, but don't tell people in radio that
- 1:11:10Speaker 3: they sound like somebody else, because that's really I feel
- 1:11:13Speaker 3: like that's incredibly offensive. Okay, I don't want to sound
- 1:11:16Speaker 3: like anybody else. Okay, well, you don't look like anybody
- 1:11:20Speaker 3: I like to think I have my own unique voice.
- 1:11:23Speaker 3: Are your own unique person? Okay, I know I'm my
- 1:11:25Speaker 3: own unique person, but I like to think I had
- 1:11:27Speaker 3: my own unique voice. And now I'm being told this
- 1:11:29Speaker 3: morning that I don't that don't don't, don't don't know. No,
- 1:11:33Speaker 3: please don't come on man. Uh Stoops just needs to
- 1:11:36Speaker 3: call Austin and tell them. Uh he still loves them,
- 1:11:39Speaker 3: that's right, he get the reference there. No, I don't
- 1:11:41Speaker 3: like Shelton's. Yes, this is Austin.
- 1:11:46Speaker 4: Yes he had never heard that sounds sorry? How much
- 1:11:49Speaker 4: do I listen to country music? Now?
- 1:11:51Speaker 2: Okay, there you go? So, uh all right, I thought
- 1:11:55Speaker 2: this was great. Uh so Philadelphia, Uh, they have an
- 1:12:01Speaker 2: auction called the Philadelphia Fantastic and they're What you can
- 1:12:05Speaker 2: do is you can put up money that's going to
- 1:12:10Speaker 2: all kinds of charities that the Philadelphia Phillies have, including
- 1:12:15Speaker 2: Als United mid Atlantic and there were two lucky winners.
- 1:12:20Speaker 2: Because they put it up. You can go and call
- 1:12:23Speaker 2: one inning as an announcer play by play announcer on TV.
- 1:12:29Speaker 2: And you can also go put up another portion of
- 1:12:32Speaker 2: money if you'd like to do play by play for radio.
- 1:12:36Speaker 3: Isn't that kind of gutsy though. How so, like, what
- 1:12:39Speaker 3: if you just get a person that's like just wants
- 1:12:41Speaker 3: to go in there and just throw f bombs around. Yeah,
- 1:12:43Speaker 3: and you're hit with all these violations.
- 1:12:45Speaker 2: I'm sure they're ready to kick them out. Yeah, it
- 1:12:48Speaker 2: probably is a little on the balls side. But here's
- 1:12:51Speaker 2: how much these people put up?
- 1:12:52Speaker 4: Are you ready for?
- 1:12:53Speaker 2: How much they put up? So the TV person that
- 1:12:56Speaker 2: won put up twenty three four hundred and thirty, the
- 1:13:01Speaker 2: radio guy twenty two thousand dollars? How crazy is that?
- 1:13:06Speaker 4: All right? Is do you have it up? Are you
- 1:13:08Speaker 4: ready to play it? Yeah, it's like six minutes.
- 1:13:10Speaker 2: We're not gonna play the whole thing. We're just gonna
- 1:13:11Speaker 2: play part of it. But this is a random guy
- 1:13:14Speaker 2: that won this auction twenty two thousand dollars to call
- 1:13:19Speaker 2: Philadelphia Phillies go ahead and play.
- 1:13:21Speaker 5: We are head to do the third inning Phillies on
- 1:13:23Speaker 5: top two to wana. We're pleased to welcome Lewis Kobb
- 1:13:26Speaker 5: from Medford Lakes.
- 1:13:28Speaker 4: New Jersey. He is our Phillies Fantastic auction winner.
- 1:13:31Speaker 5: He outfit the competition to spend an.
- 1:13:34Speaker 4: Inning and do some play by play in the booth.
- 1:13:36Speaker 4: Then Lewis welcome, glad to have you here.
- 1:13:39Speaker 5: Thank you Scott. It's a thrilled to be here. It's
- 1:13:42Speaker 5: a life flowing dream to be in the Phillies broadcast booth.
- 1:13:46Speaker 5: So here we go. Painter by the first pitch to
- 1:13:49Speaker 5: our teams, that's in there for strike one, CoV really
- 1:13:51Speaker 5: fills with two at the bottom of the second to
- 1:13:53Speaker 5: take the league.
- 1:13:54Speaker 4: Is good, isn't he.
- 1:13:55Speaker 5: It's at at the top of the third Painter delivers.
- 1:13:59Speaker 5: It's bounced foul out.
- 1:14:04Speaker 4: I like how he hesitated. He's not talking the entire time,
- 1:14:08Speaker 4: no nervousness.
- 1:14:09Speaker 5: The first two games of this series.
- 1:14:15Speaker 4: That was all right, we're done. All right.
- 1:14:19Speaker 2: First time I heard, it's like, okay, this guy is
- 1:14:21Speaker 2: putting on a fake voice. And then I'm like, oh
- 1:14:24Speaker 2: my gosh, he's really good.
- 1:14:26Speaker 4: It's good.
- 1:14:27Speaker 3: And so I listened to the I listened to the
- 1:14:29Speaker 3: whole inning of him talking. I thought he did a
- 1:14:33Speaker 3: phenomenal job. Who knows to him?
- 1:14:36Speaker 2: Credit to him for giving twenty two thousand thousand dollars
- 1:14:39Speaker 2: to do this. This guy needs a job. I agree,
- 1:14:43Speaker 2: And they tried the I don't know Philadelphia Phillies announcers,
- 1:14:48Speaker 2: but the two ones that are the regular ones are
- 1:14:51Speaker 2: trying to get, you know, more into his personal life,
- 1:14:53Speaker 2: and he's like, I'm calling the.
- 1:14:54Speaker 3: Game, dude. We're not talking about my personal life. We're
- 1:14:57Speaker 3: calling the game.
- 1:14:58Speaker 2: And this was phenomenal and I love that the Philadelphia
- 1:15:02Speaker 2: Phillies do this. And it seemed because you know, it
- 1:15:04Speaker 2: seems like there's all kinds of hockey things going on.
- 1:15:07Speaker 2: You know, we talked about the acron thing. Would you
- 1:15:09Speaker 2: kind of like which I think is a little hokey,
- 1:15:11Speaker 2: but uh, this thing where you get to go call
- 1:15:14Speaker 2: a game, I know for what a fact you would
- 1:15:17Speaker 2: do this. Oh yeah, if you had the money for
- 1:15:19Speaker 2: sure to spend like that. But my gosh, would you
- 1:15:22Speaker 2: rather do TV or radio? I think I would rather
- 1:15:25Speaker 2: do TV.
- 1:15:26Speaker 4: I'd rather do radio. Would you really? Why?
- 1:15:28Speaker 1: Uh?
- 1:15:29Speaker 3: Just I just like the challenge of radio a little
- 1:15:31Speaker 3: bit more. TV is not that it's easy, but it's easier.
- 1:15:37Speaker 3: I don't know, something about trying to paint a picture
- 1:15:39Speaker 3: on radio. It was more fun for me.
- 1:15:41Speaker 2: It is okay, yeah, I understand that, but it just
- 1:15:44Speaker 2: to me it would be fun to you know, be
- 1:15:46Speaker 2: there and acting. I don't know, I'd probably be acting goofy,
- 1:15:49Speaker 2: which wouldn't probably go over that.
- 1:15:50Speaker 4: Well.
- 1:15:51Speaker 2: But uh, anyway, I forget. We're on YouTube and people
- 1:15:55Speaker 2: can see me talking right now. I forget that every time.
- 1:15:58Speaker 2: But anyway, I gotta watch myself every now and then.
- 1:16:01Speaker 4: One.
- 1:16:03Speaker 2: Huh, don't pick your nose, Well, you should pick your No,
- 1:16:06Speaker 2: you shouldn't pick your nose anyway, scoots no way. Michael
- 1:16:09Speaker 2: gets the Austin reference. Yeah, I did. Michael sounds like
- 1:16:13Speaker 2: he has a nose whistle this morning.
- 1:16:15Speaker 4: Ha ha. Is that a reference to someone else? I
- 1:16:19Speaker 4: know what that means?
- 1:16:19Speaker 2: Okay, let's uh so, there's Matt dangerous. Matt Jones has
- 1:16:24Speaker 2: a nose whistle that everybody talks about, makes fun of it,
- 1:16:26Speaker 2: and I think he's trying to make a joke out
- 1:16:28Speaker 2: of that, which is fine. I mean, that doesn't bother me.
- 1:16:31Speaker 2: I don't think I have a nose whistle. I did
- 1:16:33Speaker 2: see this one, and I did want to talk about.
- 1:16:36Speaker 2: Detroit Pistons G League team is holding an open tryout
- 1:16:41Speaker 2: for two hundred and fifty dollars. You can go tryout
- 1:16:44Speaker 2: for the Detroit Pistons G League basketball team. Fifty Oh yeah,
- 1:16:51Speaker 2: we are charging people to go do this, yes, yes,
- 1:16:55Speaker 2: September thirteenth, you can go try out for them. You're
- 1:16:58Speaker 2: going at their facility, the Detroit pist facility, which is
- 1:17:01Speaker 2: kind of cool. You get a reversible tryout jersey, and
- 1:17:05Speaker 2: you get two tickets to go see the Motor City
- 1:17:07Speaker 2: Crews play a home game, which is their G League team.
- 1:17:11Speaker 4: I kind of like this.
- 1:17:12Speaker 2: Wouldn't you like to go play at their basketball facility?
- 1:17:15Speaker 2: Even though it's kind of a joke. They say they're
- 1:17:17Speaker 2: gonna take three players if three good players do come
- 1:17:21Speaker 2: and make the team, so there is a legitimate tryout,
- 1:17:25Speaker 2: so they're claiming.
- 1:17:26Speaker 4: I mean, I do think it would be fun.
- 1:17:28Speaker 3: There's no shot that I would make the team, So
- 1:17:31Speaker 3: for that reason, I'm not gonna pay two hundred and
- 1:17:33Speaker 3: fifty dollars.
- 1:17:33Speaker 4: To do well, wouldn't you?
- 1:17:34Speaker 2: I mean, lots of people pay to go to like
- 1:17:37Speaker 2: the John Caliperi camp. Did Mark Pope have a camp?
- 1:17:41Speaker 2: I'm sure he did, but kids go pay for that,
- 1:17:44Speaker 2: and you get to play at the UK practice facility,
- 1:17:46Speaker 2: which I think is really cool. So I don't know,
- 1:17:49Speaker 2: two fifty seams a little extreme. You got caught up
- 1:17:52Speaker 2: in the video which you thought was real and it
- 1:17:55Speaker 2: wasn't real. Thanks for calling me out, aga, I know,
- 1:17:57Speaker 2: sorry about that.
- 1:17:58Speaker 4: I need to do that.
- 1:17:59Speaker 2: Okay, Well I thought we talked about on the air,
- 1:18:00Speaker 2: but we were talking about during the break. Oh we did, okay, yeah,
- 1:18:05Speaker 2: uh yeah, it's it was funny. It was funny. I
- 1:18:09Speaker 2: mean I'm constantly getting due. All right, yeah, I know it.
- 1:18:13Speaker 2: I listen anymore I see something like that. First thing
- 1:18:16Speaker 2: I've u is go fact check. It is like, okay,
- 1:18:18Speaker 2: this can't be real. But but you know, they had
- 1:18:20Speaker 2: that whole movie Invincible, which you've never seen about Vince
- 1:18:24Speaker 2: Papali who played for the Philadelphia Eagles, which I thought
- 1:18:27Speaker 2: was awesome, and they had and then I'll loan and behold.
- 1:18:30Speaker 2: They were just trying to get fan support and then
- 1:18:32Speaker 2: they found their player that could actually play for the Eagles,
- 1:18:35Speaker 2: which was cool.
- 1:18:36Speaker 1: Uh.
- 1:18:37Speaker 2: One person said, uh, just teasing you since you wanted
- 1:18:41Speaker 2: to compare Scoots and Trevor Michael. I don't think the
- 1:18:43Speaker 2: other guy's head could fit on the screen for your
- 1:18:46Speaker 2: YouTube due to his ego. Okay, well he's a nice guy.
- 1:18:51Speaker 2: I'm sure somewhere somewhere down the line. All right, everybody,
- 1:18:54Speaker 2: we got a takeoff. Appreciate you listening. We'll see on
- 1:18:56Speaker 2: the Friday edition.
- 1:18:58Speaker 4: Of Justin Kem with speed.
- 1:19:01Speaker 1: We are trying not against the hide the carts
