Dot com Welcome to the Daily Quote, a podcast designed to
• 0:07
kick start your day in a positive way.
• 0:10
I'm your host, Andrew McGivern for May 18th.
• 0:14
Today is no Dirty dishes day. It's a day dedicated to not
• 0:18
scraping dried cheese off the plate.
• 0:21
A day that encourages you to embrace disposable dining or
• 0:25
eating out and letting someone else worry about soap and
• 0:28
sponges. In short, it's not laziness.
• 0:32
It's an observance, A commitment to minimalism.
• 0:36
There's something beautifully symbolic about a clean sink.
• 0:40
It means you've either mastered the art of minimalism or, you
• 0:44
know, escape doing any real work today.
• 0:48
That brings me to today's quote from Leonardo da Vinci, which
• 0:52
pairs surprisingly well with the holiday that encourages a little
• 0:56
strategic avoidance. Leonardo da Vinci once said
• 1:01
  simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.
• 1:06
Now, Leonardo probably wasn't standing in front of a pile of
• 1:09
lasagna pans when he said that, but it applies just the same.
• 1:15
No, Dirty Dishes Day isn't about skipping chores.
• 1:19
It's about stepping back and simplifying in a world that
• 1:24
constantly piles things onto your plate, literally and
• 1:29
metaphorically. Sometimes the wisest move is to
• 1:33
clear it off and keep things light.
• 1:35
Da Vinci, one of the most brilliant minds in history,
• 1:41
understood that there's elegance in doing less.
• 1:44
And what's simpler than eating a sandwich off a napkin and
• 1:47
calling it gourmet? So let yourself live with a
• 1:53
little more ease. Don't complicate your day with
• 1:57
  unnecessary clutter, physical or mental.
• 2:01
Keep it clean, keep it simple, and remember that there's real
• 2:05
sophistication in choosing the easy route once in a while.
• 2:09
So go ahead, skip the sink, ditch the dish soap and savor A
• 2:13
simpler day. You've got Leonardo's blessing.
• 2:17
That's going to do it. For today's episode, I'm Andrew
• 2:19
McGivern, signing off for now, but I'll be back tomorrow.
