- 1:47Speaker 3: bit different of a set up here. To my left,
- 1:49Speaker 3: my dog, young Knoch, your young tig.
- 1:50Speaker 2: How you what man, good man?
- 1:52Speaker 3: Honored to be here, like you said, were in a
- 1:55Speaker 3: luxury luxury apartment. You know what I'm saying, tour bus.
- 1:59Speaker 3: I don't know what you want to call it, but
- 2:01Speaker 3: like tour of US two.
- 2:02Speaker 2: That's good.
- 2:02Speaker 3: Okay, So you know what I'm saying. Be here, my dog,
- 2:04Speaker 3: bish about the pearlies. How you went nasty, got your
- 2:06Speaker 3: feet kicked up?
- 2:07Speaker 4: Yeah, you know what I mean. Shout out to CD
- 2:11Speaker 4: appreciate it. Yeah, let's pat nasty. Let's get to it.
- 2:14Speaker 2: Hey, it's funny. No matter where we go, we know

- 2:28Speaker 2: For show. We got a special guest to my right.
- 2:30Speaker 3: Man drive extraordinary, one of the best things to come
- 2:33Speaker 3: out of Noblesville. He races in every single league you

- 2:38Speaker 3: to your home. You know what I'm saying, mobile home
- 2:40Speaker 3: while you trapping and pull up and appreciate you man.
- 2:43Speaker 5: Hey, thank you guys. Honestly, it's really cool to have
- 2:45Speaker 5: you guys here. This is uh, this is our favorite month.
- 2:49Speaker 5: This is our you know, this is our super Bowl,
- 2:51Speaker 5: this is our NBA Championship, this is everything all wrapped
- 2:53Speaker 5: into one month. So so it's cool to share it
- 2:55Speaker 5: with as many people as possible as we kind of
- 2:58Speaker 5: get closer to the race for.
- 2:59Speaker 2: Shure Man, like you said, historic race, one of your
- 3:01Speaker 2: favorite racists, you know what I'm saying. And it's crazy
- 3:03Speaker 2: for all of us.
- 3:04Speaker 3: We all grew up in Indianapolis, all of us especially
- 3:06Speaker 3: grew up on the West Side, and it's crazy, like
- 3:08Speaker 3: you said, raising a rat in the or like such
- 3:10Speaker 3: an amazing event. We have millions of people who come
- 3:12Speaker 3: in town for the NY five hundred, but it's so
- 3:14Speaker 3: many people from the city who have grew up ten
- 3:15Speaker 3: fifteen minutes away.
- 3:16Speaker 2: I have never came to this strike.
- 3:18Speaker 6: I know.
- 3:18Speaker 5: You know what's funny is I come across those people
- 3:21Speaker 5: a lot and they're like, you know what, I've never
- 3:23Speaker 5: actually been to that race. I was like, why not,
- 3:25Speaker 5: Like you guys have to come at least once in
- 3:27Speaker 5: your life, because this is its just it's just unique.
- 3:30Speaker 5: I mean, it's the single largest attendance sporting event in
- 3:32Speaker 5: the world. I mean, it's we have it right here.
- 3:33Speaker 5: In our backyards, you know, in Indy, and I think honestly,
- 3:37Speaker 5: as a city, we do sports pretty well, Like we
- 3:39Speaker 5: did do these events well, and so I'm you know,
- 3:42Speaker 5: I'm really proud of it because like this is my
- 3:43Speaker 5: hometown and like I'm the only driver on the grid
- 3:45Speaker 5: that's like from Indy.
- 3:46Speaker 6: So I love to represent for the state and the
- 3:48Speaker 6: city too.
- 3:49Speaker 3: For show Man, We're gonna talk about Choe Lenage in
- 3:51Speaker 3: a minute, but we always start off the episode with
- 3:53Speaker 3: a fun question obviously to you know what I'm saying,
- 3:55Speaker 3: he started off Driver earlier.
- 3:57Speaker 2: You had a question about that.
- 3:58Speaker 1: Yeah, I was gonna ask you, man man, like what
- 4:00Speaker 1: was your video game growing up that you liked driving?
- 4:03Speaker 1: Like we all played Knee for Speed Grant what was
- 4:06Speaker 1: your game?
- 4:07Speaker 5: But I mean you listed some of the best ones.
- 4:09Speaker 5: I mean I was a Need for Speed Underground two. Uh,
- 4:13Speaker 5: there was also like Midnight Need for see Midnight Club.
- 4:15Speaker 5: I don't I didn't play as much, but like Grant
- 4:17Speaker 5: Tismo three, Big one, Grand Trismo four was kind of
- 4:22Speaker 5: like after I enjoyed it, but like fors A Motorsport
- 4:24Speaker 5: was a big one. On X I was an Xbox guy,
- 4:27Speaker 5: the Xbox guy exactly. So like when you know Halo
- 4:29Speaker 5: Halo two, that was the big Xbox guy. But but yeah,
- 4:32Speaker 5: Project Gotham Racing two that was one of my favorite games.
- 4:35Speaker 5: Of those those are like real racing nuts. We're into
- 4:38Speaker 5: that one maybe, but yeah, those are the ones. Those
- 4:40Speaker 5: are the ones I liked.
- 4:43Speaker 6: In which one Grand Charismo so Grand Trisma three Ye,
- 4:47Speaker 6: it was a card man. It was always the Nissan Skylines.
- 4:50Speaker 6: That was a big nie.
- 4:55Speaker 5: My favorite car of all times is a Nissan Skyline
- 4:57Speaker 5: R thirty four g t R so the one from
- 4:59Speaker 5: two Fast Too.
- 4:59Speaker 2: For now, I'm gonna ask you another question.
- 5:04Speaker 3: But before we get past, we gotta show respect to
- 5:07Speaker 3: one of the best racing games of all time, Mario Kart.
- 5:09Speaker 2: There's no way we could get past this. And I
- 5:11Speaker 2: suck at Mario Kart. I understand that you're real drivers.
- 5:14Speaker 3: I know the different simulations, but for some of us
- 5:16Speaker 3: civilians that Mario Kart sixty four.
- 5:18Speaker 2: Was the bible. I still play it, dude.
- 5:20Speaker 6: It's a great game.
- 5:21Speaker 5: I suck at it and I don't know what about it.
- 5:24Speaker 5: It's like this is my life, this is my career.
- 5:26Speaker 5: Awful at Mario Kart. I don't know if I'm just
- 5:28Speaker 5: I don't know, I just don't.
- 5:29Speaker 4: Get joy stick.
- 5:32Speaker 7: Yeah, I gotta man, that's good.
- 5:48Speaker 3: We're talking about games now, we gotta get to the
- 5:50Speaker 3: moll Park, even though it's probably ridiculous.
- 5:53Speaker 2: What some of your favorite racing movies?
- 5:54Speaker 6: Oh? Great, good question, bro, for sure.
- 5:57Speaker 5: Well, my favorite movies are The Fastening Fury one through four.
- 6:02Speaker 6: I'm a big nerd over the Fast.
- 6:03Speaker 2: And Furious even Wow, you like Tokyo Drift.
- 6:06Speaker 6: Absolutely.
- 6:08Speaker 5: I can quote every single line from every single Fast
- 6:11Speaker 5: and Furious maybe all the way through, like the sixth
- 6:13Speaker 5: one that the Tokyo Drift, the RX seven, the orange
- 6:16Speaker 5: and black car in that movie.
- 6:18Speaker 6: Still I want that in my collection at some point.
- 6:20Speaker 6: Respect So, look, I'm a big nerd.
- 6:21Speaker 5: About Fast and Furious, But when it comes to like
- 6:24Speaker 5: actual I guess actual racing movies. Uh, there's a movie
- 6:28Speaker 5: called Grand Prix which is like very old, so it's
- 6:30Speaker 5: like a seventies eighties movie.
- 6:31Speaker 6: That movie was sick.
- 6:33Speaker 5: But honestly, Rush that came out not too long ago
- 6:37Speaker 5: with Chris Hamsworth and Daniel Brule and those like that
- 6:41Speaker 5: was a great movie about like Formula one racing.
- 6:43Speaker 6: But yeah, those are kind of.
- 6:45Speaker 2: I'm a little older man. I like Days of Thunder.
- 6:47Speaker 5: Days of Thunder was awesome. I mean I still if
- 6:50Speaker 5: that's on TV, I'm gonna watch.
- 6:51Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't watch that, mel Car, I don't think.
- 6:54Speaker 4: No, you didn't even mention the greatest one.
- 6:56Speaker 6: What do we got?
- 6:57Speaker 4: Big of Night?
- 7:00Speaker 6: That is an incredible story.
- 7:04Speaker 4: First, you would.
- 7:08Speaker 6: Actually shirt in the back that says that.
- 7:10Speaker 3: Oh yeah, that's one of the best movies about father.
- 7:13Speaker 2: You see what he did to get him back on
- 7:15Speaker 2: the truck.
- 7:15Speaker 6: Yeah, the tiger you gotta would you drive with a
- 7:20Speaker 6: tiger in your car?
- 7:21Speaker 2: For sure?
- 7:22Speaker 4: For sure? I am the tiger cougar.
- 7:27Speaker 2: Sorry, yeah, all right, Oh.
- 7:35Speaker 6: I love it.
- 7:39Speaker 3: But speaking of that, obviously his that's a factitious movie.
- 7:41Speaker 3: But don't say, young Lindy is your driving? How was
- 7:43Speaker 3: it for you? Like when did you start dripping? Because
- 7:45Speaker 3: driving is not sported. You can just go see a
- 7:47Speaker 3: Y M c A it Tappy.
- 7:48Speaker 6: Yeah, No, it's true.
- 7:50Speaker 5: When I was ten years old, we actually had a neighbor,
- 7:53Speaker 5: like I was in Noblesville. Growing up in Noblesville, I
- 7:57Speaker 5: had a neighbor that actually asked my dad. My dad
- 8:00Speaker 5: was a Formula one driver IndyCar driver back in his
- 8:02Speaker 5: before I was born, shout out to dad.
- 8:04Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 8:06Speaker 5: They actually asked my dad if if he could help them.
- 8:09Speaker 5: They bought a go cart and they went out to
- 8:10Speaker 5: the racetrack and my dad asked me if I just
- 8:12Speaker 5: wanted to come along, And so when we got out there,
- 8:15Speaker 5: he asked if I wanted to get in the cart.
- 8:17Speaker 5: I got in because I was like, yeah, sure, of course,
- 8:20Speaker 5: ten year old kid like yeah, get in a go cart. Absolutely,
- 8:23Speaker 5: And so got out there and realized that right then,
- 8:28Speaker 5: like I was like, this is something that I really
- 8:29Speaker 5: enjoyed doing. I didn't know was possible to do something
- 8:32Speaker 5: like this, like to drive something fast. It's ten years old,
- 8:35Speaker 5: you're feeling you know, you're doing thirty forty miles an hour.
- 8:36Speaker 6: You feel like that's really fast.
- 8:38Speaker 5: So so yeah, from then on, I asked my dad like, hey,
- 8:42Speaker 5: like can we do this too? And so then from
- 8:44Speaker 5: from age ten on, you know, you kind of racing
- 8:48Speaker 5: is interesting because not a lot of people realize that,
- 8:51Speaker 5: like it's kind of like any other sport in the
- 8:53Speaker 5: years of progression, like I did racing when you know,
- 8:57Speaker 5: when I was in middle school, when I was in
- 8:58Speaker 5: high school, and like, if you're going to basketball or
- 9:00Speaker 5: probably football. You're probably also going to play that sport
- 9:03Speaker 5: through those years. So we're doing the same thing, but
- 9:06Speaker 5: just in like smaller cards that are not quite as fast.
- 9:09Speaker 6: And then there's a step up, and then there's a
- 9:10Speaker 6: step up slightly.
- 9:11Speaker 5: Faster, slightly bigger, slightly faster, slightly bigger, and then you
- 9:14Speaker 5: get into cars kind of when you're in that fifteen
- 9:16Speaker 5: sixteen year old age.
- 9:17Speaker 6: So that was kind of how it all started.
- 9:19Speaker 3: Really, And that's crazy because, like you said, you go
- 9:21Speaker 3: through that progression, your pops and up sid did this
- 9:23Speaker 3: for a living, went crazy with it and let you
- 9:25Speaker 3: kind of naturally ask him to join the sport. Mister
- 9:27Speaker 3: Tige said, now y'all get in that jail. Nah My
- 9:29Speaker 3: pops had us playing basketball four or five. We ain't
- 9:31Speaker 3: had no choice. You're gonna play basketball.
- 9:34Speaker 1: I don't think he's seen us going to the NBA
- 9:35Speaker 1: or anything like that, but you was gonna pick up
- 9:38Speaker 1: a basketball for sure.
- 9:39Speaker 6: Well yeah, I mean that, and that's awesome.
- 9:40Speaker 5: Like I I my dad was always just making sure
- 9:44Speaker 5: that I wanted to do it, which I respect because
- 9:46Speaker 5: like I wouldn't want to. I guess it's such a
- 9:50Speaker 5: weird sport, like it's it's not like the normalst like
- 9:53Speaker 5: it because it costs money, right, Like you have to
- 9:55Speaker 5: There's there's a lot of things that you know, you
- 9:58Speaker 5: could go out and get a basketball and just you
- 10:00Speaker 5: know shoot hoops like that's that's very like accessible, whereas
- 10:04Speaker 5: racing definitely it's it's not as accessible. And so we
- 10:07Speaker 5: had to work a lot at trying to you know,
- 10:08Speaker 5: get these get the equipment, get the stuff, you know
- 10:11Speaker 5: what I mean. And I was very lucky to have,
- 10:13Speaker 5: you know, help for my parents to do that first
- 10:14Speaker 5: initially and and and.
- 10:17Speaker 6: Then once we get into.
- 10:18Speaker 5: It, it's like you got to really be sure that
- 10:20Speaker 5: you want to do this because there will be a
- 10:22Speaker 5: lot of expense from both like myself, my family, like people,
- 10:26Speaker 5: people that are gonna support us, you know, to get
- 10:29Speaker 5: going down that road.
- 10:31Speaker 3: For sure, and like I mean, we'll get it a
- 10:32Speaker 3: little bit later. But like even just now, you live
- 10:35Speaker 3: on the circuit. Like Yahoo, y'all got home games. They
- 10:38Speaker 3: don't got a home game.
- 10:40Speaker 5: This is my home game, right they five hundred. But yeah,
- 10:42Speaker 5: but other than that, the rest of the year is away.
- 10:44Speaker 5: So like you're you're moving and shaking, well, I mean,
- 10:47Speaker 5: we're traveling circus Essentially, you got all these teams, all
- 10:50Speaker 5: the all the crew guys. Everyone just kind of packs
- 10:54Speaker 5: up their stuff, moves on. Race weekend is three four
- 10:56Speaker 5: days in a row usually, and then that's it. But
- 10:59Speaker 5: then we've got them in the May, which is longer
- 11:01Speaker 5: than normal, it's two and a half weeks.
- 11:03Speaker 6: But yeah, it's a it's a weird, weird lifestyle for sure.
- 11:06Speaker 3: And obviously we can talk about set a five hundred,
- 11:08Speaker 3: but you writing different types of leads. What's been some
- 11:11Speaker 3: of your favorite like moments, some different leagus to race
- 11:13Speaker 3: in because obviously different types of cars even though it's
- 11:15Speaker 3: still racing, but different types of adjustments you got to
- 11:17Speaker 3: get into.
- 11:18Speaker 5: Yeah, I've been lucky for sure. I mean I've I've
- 11:20Speaker 5: lived a weird lifestyle in racing terms. You know, I've
- 11:23Speaker 5: kind of done like I've got to you know, I've
- 11:25Speaker 5: got to drive a Formula One car, which you know,
- 11:28Speaker 5: feel very lucky to have got to do, and you know,
- 11:30Speaker 5: racing the Daytona five hundred and the NASCAR, you know,
- 11:32Speaker 5: Cup Series and Indy five hundred. So like I've got
- 11:35Speaker 5: to do almost everything, which is really cool. You know,
- 11:39Speaker 5: sometimes you know your life pathway doesn't work you know,
- 11:42Speaker 5: I tried to be a Formula One driver when I
- 11:43Speaker 5: was younger, ended up coming back here, you know, through
- 11:46Speaker 5: situation out of my control, right. But but man, like
- 11:50Speaker 5: the Indiecar Series and the Indy five hundred, there is
- 11:53Speaker 5: nothing like this event like I've done. I've done the
- 11:55Speaker 5: Daytona five hundred, which is obviously everyone knows the Daytona
- 11:57Speaker 5: five hundred.
- 11:58Speaker 6: It's like, hey, le NASCAR's biggest event. That's awesome.
- 12:01Speaker 5: But you know, even I just add I just had
- 12:03Speaker 5: Dale and heard Junior on my podcast like last week,
- 12:05Speaker 5: and he was like, look, I've done the day twenty
- 12:07Speaker 5: five hundred, but there's nothing like the five hundred like
- 12:09Speaker 5: when I went there and saw it, like this is
- 12:11Speaker 5: an incredible event, and so getting to do this will
- 12:15Speaker 5: be my eleventh to and DY five hundred. There is
- 12:16Speaker 5: nothing like this event and this is for sure my
- 12:19Speaker 5: best memory, like my best experience is just there's nothing
- 12:24Speaker 5: like this event.
- 12:25Speaker 2: And what's crazy like age out there, but he's in
- 12:27Speaker 2: a lot of thirties.
- 12:27Speaker 6: For you to be doing that, it will take it.
- 12:30Speaker 3: But you do that that many time, I means you've
- 12:31Speaker 3: been in this events issue in your twenties, which is.
- 12:33Speaker 6: Crazy twenty one was my first one. Yeah, just you
- 12:36Speaker 6: was that young lad.
- 12:37Speaker 2: How was that your first time?
- 12:38Speaker 6: It was crazy?
- 12:40Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean honestly, at that age, I was kind
- 12:43Speaker 5: of it all just happened so fast. You're like, oh,
- 12:45Speaker 5: here's my opportunity, you know what I mean. And I
- 12:47Speaker 5: wasn't at that pro level yet to where I like that.
- 12:49Speaker 5: That was the first time I got paid to race
- 12:51Speaker 5: a car. I was like, well, that's crazy, like I
- 12:52Speaker 5: can make money doing it, Like this is wild. And
- 12:56Speaker 5: I was racing still in Europe full time. So I
- 12:58Speaker 5: kind of come back to May did it, and it
- 13:00Speaker 5: was it was an amazing experience. Like I you know,
- 13:03Speaker 5: cried when I qualified for the race for my first
- 13:05Speaker 5: time because it was crazy. We were going up against
- 13:07Speaker 5: your guy Buddylaziir trying to qualify in the race back
- 13:10Speaker 5: in the day. Yeah, but it was. It was an
- 13:13Speaker 5: amazing But the thing is, it still feels like that
- 13:16Speaker 5: here every May, Like that feeling hasn't gone away, Like
- 13:19Speaker 5: that feeling of of like butterflies in my stomach when
- 13:22Speaker 5: I walk in this track and when we go out
- 13:24Speaker 5: to suit up for practice tomorrow or or when the race,
- 13:27Speaker 5: you know, race weekend happens. It's this is the coolest thing.
- 13:31Speaker 4: You remember what you placed?
- 13:33Speaker 6: I placed twenty twentieth or twenty first.
- 13:36Speaker 5: I caught on fire two times, yeah, during the race,
- 13:39Speaker 5: So it wasn't the greatest race my rookie year.
- 13:41Speaker 6: But we did finish. We did finish, just slightly on fire.
- 13:46Speaker 6: I actually did have a motor home, but they didn't
- 13:48Speaker 6: put me in this lot. I was actually in like
- 13:50Speaker 6: the less cool people a lot. Yeah, I had to work.
- 13:55Speaker 6: I was like a little bit outside, which I was
- 13:57Speaker 6: kind of frustrated by.
- 13:58Speaker 5: But someone did give me a bus to stay in,
- 14:01Speaker 5: which I thought was the coolest thing ever.
- 14:03Speaker 4: So when did you experience this life? When did the
- 14:05Speaker 4: after parties be after party?
- 14:06Speaker 6: Well that was twenty fifteen.
- 14:08Speaker 5: Yeah, like I missed what the next year, So twenty
- 14:11Speaker 5: thirteen was my first five hundred. Twenty fourteen I was
- 14:14Speaker 5: actually racing in Monaco and Formula two, so like, actually
- 14:17Speaker 5: I didn't I didn't race in the Indy five hundred
- 14:19Speaker 5: that year because I was over there. But then twenty
- 14:22Speaker 5: fifteen I was back. So that was one of the
- 14:24Speaker 5: things I started to get started to.
- 14:26Speaker 6: Get a little bit more real, like it was you know, there.
- 14:28Speaker 5: Was a Wow, you know it pretty cool after party
- 14:30Speaker 5: after that year.
- 14:31Speaker 6: I'm not gonna lie.
- 14:31Speaker 4: That was That's what I care about.
- 14:34Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, the after game. Yeah, I was a good
- 14:40Speaker 2: year for me. Yeah, hey good Yeah, yeah, I had
- 14:42Speaker 2: a nice after party. Oh all right.
- 14:45Speaker 3: What's crazy is like you said, at that point, you
- 14:47Speaker 3: started get into sponsorships. You know a little bit about
- 14:49Speaker 3: racing sponsorships yourself.
- 14:50Speaker 1: Yeah, I do on a gym here called the Factor,
- 14:53Speaker 1: and we, like you said, we sponsored Buddy and shout
- 14:55Speaker 1: to Buddy he wrecked.
- 14:57Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 14:58Speaker 6: What year was it was that? Twenty seventeen?
- 15:00Speaker 2: Yeah, I think it was twenty seventeen.
- 15:02Speaker 3: I believe, so his first year of the factory whatever
- 15:05Speaker 3: that year that was. He Now, I might have been
- 15:07Speaker 3: twenty eighteen something like that. I don't remember, but I was.
- 15:10Speaker 4: I do.
- 15:11Speaker 6: I do remember seeing the factory on the car.
- 15:12Speaker 2: So yeah, we've seen it. The last picture we seen. Yeah,
- 15:17Speaker 2: they just said to.
- 15:21Speaker 4: You wrote it. Indeed, Yeah, he fucked the vibs.
- 15:24Speaker 2: I don't here the problem. I just said it, and
- 15:29Speaker 2: I hey go, Rune a treasure and.
- 15:32Speaker 3: I ask you about this. And our culture is one
- 15:33Speaker 3: of the most important things to high school. Hosting your
- 15:35Speaker 3: same age group but like racing jackets was like the
- 15:38Speaker 3: absolute shit did.
- 15:39Speaker 2: You rock with those two?
- 15:40Speaker 6: I you know what? I did not.
- 15:42Speaker 5: I don't think. I don't think. I hadn't any when
- 15:44Speaker 5: I was a kid. But they are so like racing
- 15:47Speaker 5: jackets now are so back, like racing jackets are fully
- 15:50Speaker 5: fully back. I just got actually got a couple this
- 15:52Speaker 5: week and uh, and they're sick. But I didn't have any.
- 15:55Speaker 6: I wasn't. I don't know if I was.
- 15:56Speaker 5: I never thought of myself as like cool enough to
- 15:59Speaker 5: wear racing jackets.
- 16:00Speaker 2: I was just like a guy that.
- 16:00Speaker 6: Was just trying to do my thing.
- 16:01Speaker 3: You know, that was it, man, you was out here
- 16:04Speaker 3: building the car.
- 16:06Speaker 6: It was more point.
- 16:06Speaker 2: All of it was cool.
- 16:08Speaker 6: I know I'm very self deprecated.
- 16:10Speaker 5: I'm just like I just kind of say, I'm just
- 16:12Speaker 5: kind of do my thing, and I tried to be
- 16:13Speaker 5: the best that I could be silently.
- 16:15Speaker 4: Who is your favorite NASCAR driver?
- 16:17Speaker 6: My favorite NASCAR driver? It's a great question.
- 16:21Speaker 5: I well, my boss take like my podcast is under
- 16:24Speaker 5: Dale and Her Juniors Media shout Dale Junior, Jesus.
- 16:29Speaker 6: He's obviously a legend.
- 16:31Speaker 5: But oddly enough, my car number for this fire this
- 16:35Speaker 5: year is twenty four.
- 16:37Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 16:41Speaker 5: So I've got special shoes and gloves for this race
- 16:45Speaker 5: for the Rainbow Warrior. They got the flames on him
- 16:47Speaker 5: with the DuPont like paint schime. I've got full full
- 16:52Speaker 5: Jeff Gordon tribute shoes and gloves for this.
- 16:56Speaker 2: That was my favorite driver because the name was Jeff.
- 16:58Speaker 6: Yeah, there you go. Jeff Gordon's also very high up
- 17:01Speaker 6: on the list.
- 17:02Speaker 4: That was the hardest NASCAR jacket ever.
- 17:06Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 17:06Speaker 4: Yeah, sure.
- 17:08Speaker 6: He's gonna be out here.
- 17:09Speaker 4: This may man help me set that up, Jeff gor.
- 17:17Speaker 6: I would love to see that interaction on Jeff Gordon together.
- 17:20Speaker 2: We needed sure unbelievable that pay per view.
- 17:25Speaker 3: Yeah, sure had Now just from a simple standpoint, I
- 17:29Speaker 3: know you could smell upon in many ways, but like
- 17:30Speaker 3: for the average person, they don't understand how hard like
- 17:33Speaker 3: an actual race is.
- 17:34Speaker 5: For one, you were in your car for how long? Yeah,
- 17:36Speaker 5: I mean is about three and a half hours, five
- 17:38Speaker 5: hundred miles without a bathroom break, right, no bathroom break? Yeah,
- 17:41Speaker 5: No food, no snacks, no nothing, nothing like that. We
- 17:45Speaker 5: do have a drink bottle that's like attached like through
- 17:48Speaker 5: the front of our helmet, but like that's usually boiling
- 17:51Speaker 5: by about like lap thirty, so it's kind of just
- 17:55Speaker 5: there to just wet your whistle a little bit, like
- 17:57Speaker 5: that's about it. So it's it's tough, it's it's a
- 18:00Speaker 5: lot harder than people think. We have no power steering.
- 18:02Speaker 5: It's about one hundred and fifty degrees in the car
- 18:04Speaker 5: ish depending on the day, So you're you're sweating, like
- 18:07Speaker 5: I usually sweat around ten to twelve pounds of waterweight
- 18:11Speaker 5: during the race. And again our heart rate because you're
- 18:16Speaker 5: because there's no power steering, the steering is super heavy,
- 18:18Speaker 5: so you're you're fighting you know, three to three and
- 18:20Speaker 5: a half g's every corner, which is you know, there's
- 18:24Speaker 5: four corners. The lap is forty seconds, so every forty
- 18:26Speaker 5: seconds you're fighting at four times and then doing that
- 18:29Speaker 5: for you know, five hundred miles, two hundred laps. There's
- 18:32Speaker 5: just a lot more that's that that's in there that
- 18:35Speaker 5: than people realize, right because they're like, oh, you're sitting
- 18:38Speaker 5: in there driving, like a.
- 18:38Speaker 6: Lot of people.
- 18:39Speaker 5: That's the most common misconception is like we're just sitting
- 18:43Speaker 5: in there and we're driving because everyone.
- 18:45Speaker 6: Drives right, like we're out on the street and you're
- 18:47Speaker 6: driving down the road.
- 18:48Speaker 5: But this is like trying not to die for three hours,
- 18:50Speaker 5: because like it is very dangerous.
- 18:52Speaker 6: Like what we're doing, Like we're doing two hundred and forty.
- 18:55Speaker 5: Five miles an hour, you know, side by side with
- 18:57Speaker 5: a bunch of other idiots who are trying to you know,
- 18:59Speaker 5: make his and racing too, and you are at your
- 19:03Speaker 5: absolute limit mentally and physically. So by the time you're
- 19:06Speaker 5: at the end of this event completely spent.
- 19:09Speaker 2: That's crazy.
- 19:09Speaker 3: And like Henna ask know, saying, like dude, y'all get
- 19:12Speaker 3: slightered as athletes because I am, like, there's no way
- 19:14Speaker 3: that somebody can tell me you're not an athlete.
- 19:16Speaker 2: If you ever had a messed up car driving without hour,
- 19:21Speaker 2: it's crazy. That's nuts, trying to turn to your drive without.
- 19:26Speaker 5: Yeah, so it's it's we train. I mean we trained
- 19:29Speaker 5: twice a day like like people. The funniest part is, though,
- 19:32Speaker 5: is anyone who does say, like, oh, drivers aren't athletes.
- 19:35Speaker 5: It's like as soon as you start to tell them
- 19:37Speaker 5: like these are not, Like I'm not like making any
- 19:39Speaker 5: of these things up. Like I wear a heart rate monitoring,
- 19:41Speaker 5: like we you can, like you can get in that
- 19:43Speaker 5: car and like try to turn it just when it's
- 19:45Speaker 5: off and you're like, oh, it is kind of heavy.
- 19:47Speaker 5: It's like, well, yeah, that's it's no power sitting, you
- 19:49Speaker 5: know what I mean. So we train, you know, twice
- 19:51Speaker 5: a day. We use the sauna, ice, everything that we
- 19:54Speaker 5: can do to be ready because again, you got to
- 19:56Speaker 5: stay ahead of the car physically, because if the car
- 19:58Speaker 5: gets ahead of you, then you're like, if you make
- 20:01Speaker 5: a mistake, it hurts a lot. It hurts a lot.
- 20:06Speaker 5: I've hit the wall really hard and it hurts Dan crazy.
- 20:09Speaker 1: Yeah, like you said, you kind on fire your first
- 20:11Speaker 1: Indy five hundred, Like what's the procedure?
- 20:14Speaker 3: Like, I don't know what I'd do with my car.
- 20:19Speaker 3: I'm done. First fire is over.
- 20:22Speaker 5: So every time we pit right, we get the refueler
- 20:25Speaker 5: goes in, but you're trying to do it as quick
- 20:27Speaker 5: as possible. And sometimes it's eighteen eighteen point six gallons
- 20:30Speaker 5: of fuel that goes in in about seven seconds. So
- 20:33Speaker 5: when you plug in and the guy maybe fumbles coming out,
- 20:36Speaker 5: some fuel spills and the engine'es on and the exhaust
- 20:39Speaker 5: a right there and they're shooting fire essentially out. So
- 20:42Speaker 5: if there's a bit of a miscommunication there, for me,
- 20:45Speaker 5: like it literally bursts into flames and I'm sitting there
- 20:48Speaker 5: and I feel it that's kind of hot, but like
- 20:50Speaker 5: you just have to go because that will then put
- 20:53Speaker 5: out the fire. So there's usually a guy that sprays
- 20:55Speaker 5: a bit of a fire extinguisher, but my guy my
- 20:58Speaker 5: first year wasn't there apparently, and so I just had
- 21:01Speaker 5: to go and basically let the wind like they put
- 21:04Speaker 5: the fire out. But that happened twice, so it was
- 21:06Speaker 5: an ideal.
- 21:07Speaker 4: And listen, you mean some baking sod on it.
- 21:12Speaker 6: Something like that.
- 21:13Speaker 3: You should to rerock on that crazy sposh my snowfall.
- 21:18Speaker 6: Yeah, what's crazy is like the Car series fire department.
- 21:28Speaker 3: If he's trying to save a lot, different sport's gonna.
- 21:35Speaker 2: Try to twist the metal. Yeah, the lead cargain.
- 21:41Speaker 3: Yeah, And like you said, like with the athlete, you
- 21:46Speaker 3: have et a team, like you got your coaches, training,
- 21:47Speaker 3: the staff and y'all sport. But for y'all y'all pit crew,
- 21:50Speaker 3: it's so important because they make a word of a
- 21:52Speaker 3: difference in that second, like you said, half a second
- 21:54Speaker 3: pulling out pause that could have went real crazy for
- 21:57Speaker 3: you with the fuel.
- 21:58Speaker 5: Yeah, to say, races are won and lost on pit lane.
- 22:03Speaker 5: And like people don't realize that as well, like when
- 22:06Speaker 5: when you see the results page, it's driver names, right,
- 22:09Speaker 5: but like squad, each driver got there with their team,
- 22:13Speaker 5: or if someone made a mistake in the pits, like
- 22:15Speaker 5: they got they were further down because of it's a
- 22:17Speaker 5: team effort, right, so everyone has to be on it.
- 22:21Speaker 5: And and like my guys, you know, the last three
- 22:24Speaker 5: weeks we've been in the shop, but we have a
- 22:25Speaker 5: race shop in Zions built dry rainbows up there, and
- 22:30Speaker 5: you know, we have a practice car with an electric
- 22:32Speaker 5: motor in it where we can reverse it and then
- 22:34Speaker 5: go right back into the pit lane. And the team
- 22:36Speaker 5: actually built a pit stop area with the exact same
- 22:39Speaker 5: pavement that is out here in the pit lane to
- 22:42Speaker 5: try to, you know, emulate what that is going to
- 22:44Speaker 5: be like. And those guys work every day of the
- 22:46Speaker 5: week practice pitstop, practice pit stop, seven seconds, six seconds,
- 22:49Speaker 5: seven seconds, like just trying to get it right, because
- 22:52Speaker 5: that's what it's all. It's all about, every tenth of
- 22:54Speaker 5: a second to be perfect.
- 22:55Speaker 6: It's crazy.
- 22:56Speaker 1: We had some of those guys training at my gym,
- 22:58Speaker 1: a peer called de Factory, and I just watched them
- 23:01Speaker 1: carrying forty five pound plates like it's crazy.
- 23:05Speaker 2: Yeah. I was like, yeah, workout. I was like, what
- 23:08Speaker 2: are they doing their crew? I was like, oh.
- 23:11Speaker 6: Shit, it's tough man. Yeah, But it's you know, to
- 23:15Speaker 6: when when you have a good pit stop, it feels
- 23:18Speaker 6: so good because you're like, oh my guy, Scott, you
- 23:20Speaker 6: know what I mean it was, But when you have
- 23:23Speaker 6: a bad one, you're like, oh, now I got a
- 23:24Speaker 6: lot more work in front of me.
- 23:25Speaker 2: So it's just it.
- 23:26Speaker 5: It's there's six pit stops during the five hundred, so
- 23:29Speaker 5: there's so many opportunities for there. You can take advantage
- 23:32Speaker 5: of it or you have to come back from it.
- 23:34Speaker 4: You know.
- 23:35Speaker 3: I gotta ask you a question, because, like you said,
- 23:36Speaker 3: it's a high intensity, very fast.
- 23:38Speaker 2: Everybody's trying to win. Hey, y'all be squabbling alright.
- 23:41Speaker 3: Them drivers, they get up, they be having beef, Like
- 23:43Speaker 3: I'll be punching people through helmets. Like I can imagine
- 23:46Speaker 3: when you prepare so long for a mob like this
- 23:48Speaker 3: and somebody's driving not the safest and nicks, you are
- 23:50Speaker 3: ruined old.
- 23:50Speaker 2: I could see why it's so much frustration behind that. Now.
- 23:54Speaker 5: Well, yeah, there's so there's a lot of professionals out here,
- 23:57Speaker 5: but they're also idiots. So like they're fun of people
- 24:00Speaker 5: that you know, as soon as you're around them on track,
- 24:03Speaker 5: they're they're gonna make a stupid decision. Now there Again,
- 24:06Speaker 5: everyone out here is very talented, but there's also people
- 24:09Speaker 5: that just are not. There's always dumb people when you're
- 24:13Speaker 5: doing stuff and it doesn't matter, like the're just people
- 24:15Speaker 5: who don't make efficient decisions. There's people that you know,
- 24:18Speaker 5: don't really don't really care, but like he gets an
- 24:21Speaker 5: ego thing, right, So yeah, there's plenty of people who
- 24:24Speaker 5: hate each other, as is in every sport, right, you
- 24:27Speaker 5: have your rivals, you have your uh, you know, people
- 24:29Speaker 5: that you don't like. There's people that I don't like,
- 24:32Speaker 5: but but yeah, I mean what's interesting about the five
- 24:35Speaker 5: hundred though, is that like those there's those rivalries, but
- 24:39Speaker 5: it's also so dangerous that a lot of those don't
- 24:43Speaker 5: play up as much as like when we're racing on
- 24:45Speaker 5: the road course. Like there was a road course race
- 24:47Speaker 5: that just happened over the weekend right the ad GP,
- 24:49Speaker 5: so that there was a bunch of cars hitting each
- 24:51Speaker 5: other like just bounce like bouncing off each other, a
- 24:54Speaker 5: lot of lot of anger. But at the five hundred,
- 24:57Speaker 5: if you do that, like you're literally either gonna be
- 25:00Speaker 5: in the hospital or like you know, it's a tough
- 25:02Speaker 5: so so thankfully that doesn't play up as much or
- 25:05Speaker 5: it doesn't look like it does. But there are much
- 25:07Speaker 5: more subtle movements at two hundred and thirty that like
- 25:10Speaker 5: make a big difference and that can make you angry.
- 25:13Speaker 6: Like even all of.
- 25:14Speaker 5: Practice this week, you're gonna have guys running together and
- 25:17Speaker 5: like someone just tries to block you a little bit,
- 25:19Speaker 5: and like, I just want to punch that guy. Because
- 25:22Speaker 5: when you're when you get this dirty air, like the
- 25:25Speaker 5: air changes in front of you all of a sudden,
- 25:26Speaker 5: your car then has this massive reaction. So there's plenty
- 25:30Speaker 5: of people that hate each other, which is great for
- 25:32Speaker 5: the sport.
- 25:33Speaker 6: And I am happy to always be honest too about
- 25:35Speaker 6: who I think is an idiot. So it's good.
- 25:37Speaker 3: Yeah, Like, listen, I get pissed off if somebody cut
- 25:40Speaker 3: me off at the gas. Imagine road rage is real
- 25:43Speaker 3: out here.
- 25:44Speaker 6: It's true, It's true.
- 25:46Speaker 5: I mean if someone I have said a lot of
- 25:48Speaker 5: horrible words on the radio, when I have talked, when
- 25:51Speaker 5: someone has Yeah, when someone has crosspaths in the wrong.
- 25:54Speaker 3: Way, not gonna ask. Obviously, you drive for a living.
- 25:57Speaker 3: What do you drive in real life? Yeah, so.
- 26:01Speaker 6: Our contracts are not as great as they used to be.
- 26:03Speaker 5: But I my first car was a two thousand and
- 26:06Speaker 5: four SuPAR U STI so in President STI. So I
- 26:09Speaker 5: still have that. It's broken in my garage currently. But
- 26:12Speaker 5: but I have a portion of my con s now.
- 26:13Speaker 5: So that's what I uh, that's what I have as
- 26:16Speaker 5: my daily driver.
- 26:17Speaker 2: Slight.
- 26:18Speaker 6: But I do have a great idea for what I
- 26:20Speaker 6: want in the future. I want on Nissan Skyline R
- 26:22Speaker 6: thirty four.
- 26:22Speaker 4: I need one of those for sure.
- 26:24Speaker 5: And I was furious. I'm a Lamborghini guy at the heart.
- 26:26Speaker 5: I want a Lamborghini song.
- 26:28Speaker 2: Okay, you're a car guy.
- 26:29Speaker 6: I am a car guy. Okay, someday, I don't know when.
- 26:32Speaker 4: You don't have to detach, I had to get you
- 26:33Speaker 4: a van or something. Slow down, I want to film out.
- 26:40Speaker 6: When do you think my last speeding ticket was?
- 26:42Speaker 3: I was just about to ask you that. I was
- 26:45Speaker 3: about to actually, do you drive like you drove on here.
- 26:47Speaker 2: On the rail road?
- 26:49Speaker 6: So I don't.
- 26:50Speaker 5: I have not had a speeding ticket since twenty seventeen. Wow,
- 26:53Speaker 5: I I can completely switch off like what goes on
- 26:57Speaker 5: here because I just like, it's not it's really weird
- 27:01Speaker 5: because some drivers, like Marco Andretti for example, Yeah, he's
- 27:05Speaker 5: at one hundred and fifty miles an hour all the time,
- 27:07Speaker 5: like we're getting to dinner at one thousand miles an
- 27:09Speaker 5: hour like full attack. And my girlfriend says that I
- 27:13Speaker 5: drive kind of like a granny. So I don't know
- 27:15Speaker 5: what that means. But I'm just gonna get us there.
- 27:17Speaker 4: And whenever I get there, I say, Okay, so you
- 27:19Speaker 4: detached from the Super SiO.
- 27:21Speaker 2: That's crazy, though, I wouldn't, like I mentioned in the cars.
- 27:24Speaker 4: I can't even imagine you're driving the Lambo.
- 27:27Speaker 6: I think there's yeah, well there's some I mean some situations.
- 27:29Speaker 6: I will drive fast, but yeah, I just don't want
- 27:32Speaker 6: to deal with tickets.
- 27:33Speaker 3: And yeah, that's good that you could detach for real,
- 27:36Speaker 3: because I wouldn't be able to do it.
- 27:38Speaker 2: I'll be driving like watch out.
- 27:39Speaker 6: Yeah I do get angry.
- 27:42Speaker 2: Yeah, having the manual going, I'll be going well.
- 27:45Speaker 3: And if I get pulled over, No, if it's anybody,
- 27:47Speaker 3: you should be telling high drive it ain't me.
- 27:48Speaker 2: Yeah, that's a lot of you should be giving it
- 27:50Speaker 2: ain't me.
- 27:51Speaker 4: Man.
- 27:51Speaker 2: I know what I'm doing.
- 27:54Speaker 6: Exactly.
- 27:56Speaker 4: I want to take it back to high school though.
- 27:58Speaker 4: You have to hear it this Christian Yep, yep, you
- 28:00Speaker 4: was growing. I mean you went to school during the
- 28:02Speaker 4: Kelly Faerris days.
- 28:03Speaker 6: Yeah. Actually it's a great record.
- 28:04Speaker 4: Key how was that man going to school with her? Was?
- 28:07Speaker 4: Did they treat her different in school or was she
- 28:10Speaker 4: a superstar? I led her on her high school.
- 28:12Speaker 5: Career, Kelly Fair. Yeah, we thought she was the you know,
- 28:15Speaker 5: the biggest. She was our Kaitlyn Clark right like she
- 28:17Speaker 5: was like like we we were. So we went to
- 28:20Speaker 5: the you know, girls basketball state championship like every year.
- 28:23Speaker 6: Like it was so cool for us as as because
- 28:25Speaker 6: like she was one year older than me maybe or two,
- 28:28Speaker 6: and so we thought it was the coolest thing that
- 28:29Speaker 6: we had this amazing basketball team girls basketball team for us.
- 28:33Speaker 6: Was was so fun to watch and cheer four. So yeah,
- 28:38Speaker 6: that's that's really funny. She actually came out to the
- 28:40Speaker 6: track here last year. I saw her and her family
- 28:42Speaker 6: comes out here.
- 28:43Speaker 4: So yeah, that's a superstar. I remember I'm tapped in
- 28:46Speaker 4: with high school, but I remember her for sure. She
- 28:48Speaker 4: was really a superstar back.
- 28:49Speaker 6: Yeah, those were good years. One A couple of state championship.
- 28:52Speaker 1: H Speaking of basketball, you said your first love was basketball.
- 28:55Speaker 6: It was.
- 28:55Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 28:56Speaker 5: I even we had at our school. We had a
- 28:59Speaker 5: fourth grade tournament each class and the fifth grade tournament.
- 29:02Speaker 4: No big deal.
- 29:03Speaker 5: We did win the fifth grade tournament. That's well, yes
- 29:08Speaker 5: we were. That wasn't as competitive as fifth grade is
- 29:11Speaker 5: more important, but but yeah, man, I I loved playing basketball.
- 29:17Speaker 5: I was at the Indiana Basketball Academy for like three
- 29:20Speaker 5: or four years in a row. I got the IBA shirts,
- 29:23Speaker 5: you know what I mean. Todd Abermanthew obviously he was
- 29:26Speaker 5: there helping us out.
- 29:28Speaker 6: Yeah, so it was.
- 29:29Speaker 2: It was.
- 29:30Speaker 5: It was such a joy for me to play, and
- 29:33Speaker 5: it still is now, Like I'm still not good at it,
- 29:35Speaker 5: but like it was.
- 29:36Speaker 6: It was a really fun, uh you know, fun fun
- 29:39Speaker 6: sport to learn and to cheer for.
- 29:41Speaker 5: Like I was a Pacers guy from day one, so
- 29:44Speaker 5: it was really cool.
- 29:45Speaker 4: Position did you play?
- 29:47Speaker 6: I played person who just tried to shoot the ball.
- 29:51Speaker 2: A celebrity game.
- 29:52Speaker 6: Yeah. Well I was the C team on the celebrity team.
- 29:59Speaker 6: I know, big deal to rebounds one assist, No, no
- 30:01Speaker 6: big deal. I was in the paint.
- 30:06Speaker 4: Michael, Yeah, my actual position you play? You have to
- 30:11Speaker 4: name positions.
- 30:12Speaker 3: You can't say I was not the power I was
- 30:15Speaker 3: not the point you shut guard.
- 30:19Speaker 6: I was a big.
- 30:19Speaker 5: Defensive guy because that was the only chance that I
- 30:21Speaker 5: thought that I could have made a difference, because the
- 30:24Speaker 5: team didn't really have faith in my shooting.
- 30:27Speaker 2: So you're a value shooter exactly.
- 30:32Speaker 6: But I really tried. I was an effort guy. I
- 30:34Speaker 6: was in a for effort, a big effort guy hoops
- 30:37Speaker 6: growing up.
- 30:39Speaker 5: Man, So I I had I wrote a book, which
- 30:41Speaker 5: I did share with you guys.
- 30:42Speaker 6: I didn't write a book. I drew a picture.
- 30:45Speaker 2: It was a children's book.
- 30:46Speaker 6: It was a shoulder.
- 30:46Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 30:47Speaker 5: We were asked when I think we were in kindergarten
- 30:49Speaker 5: to like, uh write a like, draw a picture of
- 30:52Speaker 5: what you wanted to be when you grew up. And
- 30:54Speaker 5: I did not put race car driver. I put the
- 30:57Speaker 5: Pacers court. And I put Jalen Rose on my picture
- 31:01Speaker 5: of basketball, not even sure why like I did. I
- 31:04Speaker 5: don't remember if I was like a Jalen Rose fan.
- 31:06Speaker 5: Obviously I grew up to like in the Reggie Miller
- 31:08Speaker 5: eras like Reggie Miller was. He was like, it was awesome.
- 31:10Speaker 5: I have Regi Miller jersey. But but I just love
- 31:14Speaker 5: the Pacers. Like, we went through all the eras. You know,
- 31:17Speaker 5: Jeff t. G Earra boy hib Or you had, Paul George,
- 31:20Speaker 5: you had so many There were so many names that
- 31:23Speaker 5: we could follow growing up. Austin Krozier was actually I
- 31:29Speaker 5: grew up in Uh. He owned the house my parents
- 31:32Speaker 5: owned before us, So I like I knew of Austin
- 31:35Speaker 5: krozer Like that's.
- 31:36Speaker 6: A really random name.
- 31:36Speaker 5: But uh, but yeah, there was. There was a lot
- 31:39Speaker 5: of guys that it was just it was really fun
- 31:41Speaker 5: to follow growing up.
- 31:42Speaker 6: And we went through the downtimes too. We went through
- 31:44Speaker 6: the downtimes.
- 31:45Speaker 2: But yeah, back up now, we're back up, back up, baby,
- 31:49Speaker 2: episode plays. We would have beaten the Nicks. You feel me?
- 31:51Speaker 6: Destroyed the Knicks. Yeah, ran steam, ran them out of gas.
- 31:56Speaker 2: He was with us what happened last? He was doing
- 31:58Speaker 2: it with this.
- 31:58Speaker 1: I'm back with the pace. I've not played for the
- 32:01Speaker 1: past time I played for the Nicks.
- 32:02Speaker 2: I'm bat there you go perfect.
- 32:03Speaker 3: I bet that's crazy. I'm a Celtics.
- 32:08Speaker 5: Oh my god, I do have a I do have
- 32:10Speaker 5: a futures ticket on the Celtics.
- 32:11Speaker 6: No big, yeah, I have I did. I did bet
- 32:13Speaker 6: on the Celtics win the champions but I also have
- 32:15Speaker 6: a plus twenty six thousand pacers ticket to win the championship.
- 32:18Speaker 3: So you know, now this might be pocket No Dante
- 32:22Speaker 3: Porter y'all, bet On y'all Sales and racing.
- 32:24Speaker 2: Is that out of pocket?
- 32:25Speaker 6: That's definitely legal? Yeah, super legal.
- 32:28Speaker 2: So only only only box I could do that. Okay,
- 32:32Speaker 2: oh yeah, the only box could do that.
- 32:33Speaker 5: Yeah, we u but that the whole sports family thing though,
- 32:36Speaker 5: this is really random, but for racing, like I think
- 32:38Speaker 5: it's it's it's become such a big thing for like
- 32:41Speaker 5: motorsport that we got to have more of that in
- 32:42Speaker 5: Indy Car for our fans to do because people love it,
- 32:44Speaker 5: like people love following their guy, following whoever they're you know, supporting.
- 32:49Speaker 5: So who knows, maybe someday we can get more and
- 32:50Speaker 5: more IndyCar, you know, Indy.
- 32:52Speaker 3: Cars sports for Yeah, I was about to ask you
- 32:56Speaker 3: do people get on you like.
- 32:58Speaker 2: You messed up my partlay I have?
- 33:00Speaker 1: Yeah, so yeah, Michael will come up to me and
- 33:02Speaker 1: be like, man, you roll this, roll that? Do they
- 33:04Speaker 1: come up to you like that and be like, man,
- 33:06Speaker 1: you're supposed to have a top ten finish.
- 33:08Speaker 6: I've had a couple of people every year. They're like, well,
- 33:10Speaker 6: we bet on you to win every year, so like,
- 33:11Speaker 6: when are you going to do it? I'm like, I
- 33:14Speaker 6: don't know, try every year.
- 33:17Speaker 5: Yeah, it's definitely certainly more over the last two or
- 33:21Speaker 5: three years, right, because it's been you know, the huge
- 33:23Speaker 5: sports gamblers boom, right, So yeah, there's definitely a lot
- 33:26Speaker 5: of people. I remember there was one twenty twenty one
- 33:32Speaker 5: there was like one of those sports books I think
- 33:34Speaker 5: put up a like a when when Barstool had their
- 33:39Speaker 5: sports book or whatever they had put up one of
- 33:41Speaker 5: their guys is from Indie, Jeff Webber, and he put
- 33:43Speaker 5: up like some uh special bet like if I let
- 33:46Speaker 5: a lap, Like what are the odds for me? I
- 33:49Speaker 5: had never let a lap before the speedway. I led
- 33:51Speaker 5: the most laps that year, and so it was like
- 33:54Speaker 5: I saw a bunch of people afterwards like.
- 33:56Speaker 6: Oh, yeah, like it cuts our guy like and I
- 33:59Speaker 6: was like, Okay, I didn't even really this is a
- 34:00Speaker 6: real thing, but apparently there was a bet for me
- 34:02Speaker 6: to like lead a lap and uh and I led
- 34:04Speaker 6: the most laps that year.
- 34:05Speaker 2: Yeah, I'll tap issue.
- 34:08Speaker 6: I don't know if it's gonna be one like that.
- 34:09Speaker 6: Don't worry about I'm I'm not encouraging anything. Can't do it,
- 34:12Speaker 6: not a part of it.
- 34:13Speaker 2: But no, no, no, you.
- 34:14Speaker 6: Know I'm going to let you know that I am
- 34:16Speaker 6: going to try to lead every last.
- 34:18Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm gonna tap it on my own order, but
- 34:20Speaker 3: I'm taking overall city this year.
- 34:23Speaker 6: The over Yeah.
- 34:28Speaker 2: What's my favorite words you've been part of so far?
- 34:30Speaker 2: Like individual? What's one to sit out to you the most?
- 34:33Speaker 5: So the twenty twenty one five hundred that I just
- 34:36Speaker 5: that I just mentioned that was my first like that
- 34:40Speaker 5: that race was a time where I thought I had
- 34:44Speaker 5: a car to win for the first time, Like I
- 34:45Speaker 5: thought that feeling when I got to the front, finally
- 34:49Speaker 5: led the led the race for the first time, and
- 34:52Speaker 5: I was like, I can win this race because I
- 34:53Speaker 5: had like I've had.
- 34:54Speaker 6: Some tough times here, like this is.
- 34:56Speaker 5: This place hasn't been really good to me for my
- 34:58Speaker 5: first few years. I had a couple of crashes and
- 35:01Speaker 5: I just like there'd be a couple good moments, but
- 35:03Speaker 5: I just it hadn't really clicked and nothing had fallen
- 35:06Speaker 5: into place. And twenty twenty one was a big moment
- 35:11Speaker 5: for me, and I was like, I'm going to win
- 35:13Speaker 5: this race, and like I thought that I could win
- 35:15Speaker 5: this race, and we were leading, we were leading, everything
- 35:19Speaker 5: was in the right position, and then a car crashed
- 35:22Speaker 5: in front of me, and the tire flew off the car,
- 35:24Speaker 5: and as I'm avoiding it, it hits my front wing
- 35:28Speaker 5: and it didn't do enough damage to like really take
- 35:32Speaker 5: us out, but it fully broke the front wing. So
- 35:35Speaker 5: I basically had to finish the race with a broken
- 35:36Speaker 5: front wing, which is wildly important.
- 35:40Speaker 6: So like we because if we pitted.
- 35:42Speaker 5: And changed the front wing, it would put us all
- 35:44Speaker 5: the way to last anyway, and we were already running
- 35:46Speaker 5: at the front. So sadly that kind of ruined our race,
- 35:49Speaker 5: and we finished the race with the front wing that
- 35:51Speaker 5: was all off, which that's the most important part of
- 35:53Speaker 5: the cars, are the wings because they produced all the grip.
- 35:57Speaker 5: So that was a really tough one to kind of
- 35:59Speaker 5: get taken away from me. But the feeling of that,
- 36:01Speaker 5: and the feeling like we still finished thirteenth, which is
- 36:03Speaker 5: not awful, but like we had no front weighing nothing.
- 36:06Speaker 5: So afterwards though, seeing all the people, like seeing the
- 36:10Speaker 5: videos of like fans reacting to when I took the lead,
- 36:13Speaker 5: like that made me cry. It still makes you cry,
- 36:15Speaker 5: like every single time because it was like such a cool,
- 36:17Speaker 5: like emotional sports moment like that. I like, I'm a
- 36:21Speaker 5: big emotions guy, so like if there's a cool sports moment,
- 36:23Speaker 5: doesn't matter if it's basketball, football, if like there's a
- 36:26Speaker 5: cool story that like like, hey, that's sweet, like that
- 36:28Speaker 5: makes you feel good, Like I love that stuff. And
- 36:31Speaker 5: that was a really that was that was the biggest
- 36:33Speaker 5: year I think for me, which was which is just
- 36:35Speaker 5: feeling that for the first time here.
- 36:37Speaker 3: Oh for sure, And as a fellow patients fan, we
- 36:39Speaker 3: all know about crying because of sports. That's not a
- 36:42Speaker 3: comment for us. But you talked about like the cars
- 36:44Speaker 3: and how important they are. These are million dollars constructed
- 36:48Speaker 3: vehicles and for you to have, you know what I'm saying,
- 36:50Speaker 3: a little bit of an issue is still finished like that,
- 36:52Speaker 3: it's crazy. But just talk about how expensive the motor,
- 36:55Speaker 3: like the breakdowns of the car, because I don't think
- 36:56Speaker 3: our average person knows what goes into that and why
- 36:58Speaker 3: these these companies are so invested in those vehicles.
- 37:01Speaker 6: Yeah, it's interesting.
- 37:02Speaker 5: I mean, so for us, the if you buy a
- 37:06Speaker 5: tub it's called it's basically just the cockpit that we
- 37:09Speaker 5: sit in.
- 37:10Speaker 6: So it's basically our safety cell.
- 37:11Speaker 5: They design this tub of the car to have all
- 37:14Speaker 5: the pieces put on it because our cars are designed
- 37:18Speaker 5: to if you crash, they're designed to explode and all
- 37:21Speaker 5: the pieces to fly away because that's safer. Like, you
- 37:24Speaker 5: don't want it to all just crunch. You want it
- 37:26Speaker 5: to hit and kind of explode into a thousand pieces.
- 37:29Speaker 5: That disperses the impact in a better way. So when
- 37:34Speaker 5: you buy the tub, that's like a three hundred and
- 37:35Speaker 5: fifty thousand dollars like just safety cell. Yeah good, that
- 37:39Speaker 5: ladbar right there there you go, that's it, but all
- 37:42Speaker 5: those other pieces around it. So now you put on
- 37:44Speaker 5: the suspension, the radiators, the engine itself. We're not actually
- 37:46Speaker 5: allowed to own the engines. So you know, we're part
- 37:49Speaker 5: of Chevrolet for this month of May, so Chevrolet. We
- 37:52Speaker 5: lease an engine from Chevrolet. We're not allowed to run
- 37:55Speaker 5: it unless there's a Chevrolet Tech there at the shop
- 37:57Speaker 5: or here at the track. We're not allowed to get
- 38:00Speaker 5: in the engine. It's sealed by them. So because it's
- 38:02Speaker 5: all all there, you know, all their stuff, and you
- 38:05Speaker 5: know those those engines are about seven hundred fifty horse power, uh,
- 38:08Speaker 5: twin turbo charged engines, which are you know, they're they're
- 38:11Speaker 5: great for speed, but but then you know they're all
- 38:16Speaker 5: the suspension pieces, all the the bodywork, you know, for
- 38:19Speaker 5: the five hundred alone, we we have the cars in
- 38:21Speaker 5: the wind tunnel for the last three weeks, like making
- 38:23Speaker 5: sure every piece of the body work is as efficiently
- 38:27Speaker 5: uh you know, basically just it's called a body fit
- 38:30Speaker 5: because if you're traveling through the air with as little
- 38:33Speaker 5: drag as possible, the car is going to go the fastest.
- 38:36Speaker 5: And here that's the most important thing. Ever, So if
- 38:38Speaker 5: you're if your piece of body work is a little
- 38:40Speaker 5: bit off, that could cost you half.
- 38:41Speaker 6: A mile an hour.
- 38:42Speaker 5: So like you you can't have that. So they they
- 38:45Speaker 5: spend millions of dollars. Like the budget for an Indy
- 38:48Speaker 5: five hundred, like just to run a car at at
- 38:50Speaker 5: a high level is basically one point one million dollars
- 38:53Speaker 5: per car essentially, So when you got thirty three cars
- 38:56Speaker 5: out here, that's almost probably forty million dollars worth of
- 38:59Speaker 5: budget that's on the track essentially. Y'all blow through tires
- 39:03Speaker 5: like cigarette so yep, we have thirty seven sets of
- 39:06Speaker 5: tires for this month of May. So like a couple
- 39:09Speaker 5: of days of thirty seven sets of tires that we
- 39:12Speaker 5: got to kind of ration out per day, Like we
- 39:14Speaker 5: can run usually like three to four sets per day
- 39:16Speaker 5: of practice. But like in Indiana, the rain comes very randomly,
- 39:21Speaker 5: so like if it rains, we might have to save
- 39:23Speaker 5: a set or two. And as long as we end
- 39:26Speaker 5: up with like six or seven sets of tires for
- 39:28Speaker 5: the race, then we've used our tires efficiently.
- 39:31Speaker 4: Damn Yeah, I want to ask you about the pregame, man,
- 39:34Speaker 4: what are you listening to? Well, what are you doing
- 39:36Speaker 4: to get geared up for the race?
- 39:37Speaker 6: You know, it's a good question.
- 39:38Speaker 5: Honestly, a lot of people think like they used to
- 39:41Speaker 5: ask me what music I listened to? And I did
- 39:43Speaker 5: enjoy listening to music at one point, but now I've
- 39:46Speaker 5: actually enjoyed taking in the atmosphere more like what's going
- 39:49Speaker 5: on and like all the people the beause, like my
- 39:52Speaker 5: friends and family are here too, so like so feeling
- 39:55Speaker 5: that is really cool. But my Indy five hundred tradition
- 39:58Speaker 5: is to go to the snake pit for the ra
- 40:00Speaker 5: like I actually legitimately go over to the snake pit
- 40:03Speaker 5: the massive ADM concert in turn three, I don't know
- 40:06Speaker 5: if you guys know much about that, but there's thirty
- 40:07Speaker 5: five thousand people inside of turn three. The morning of
- 40:09Speaker 5: the race, the party starts at eight am and there's
- 40:12Speaker 5: a bunch of massive adm artists that are performing from
- 40:15Speaker 5: eight am till about one thirty.
- 40:16Speaker 6: Like right after the race starts. So I go over
- 40:18Speaker 6: there from nine to fifty to ten fifteen am, get
- 40:21Speaker 6: up on stage, do a little bit of raging, and
- 40:23Speaker 6: then go to the driver intro.
- 40:26Speaker 4: So music as you go to it.
- 40:28Speaker 5: Is, Yeah, for the for that concert, it's crazy. Yes,
- 40:33Speaker 5: that is a fun experience out the car Day. Yeah,
- 40:35Speaker 5: Carb Day two, I mean Carb Day will because we
- 40:37Speaker 5: practice CARB Day and thankfully the concerts afterwards, so we'll
- 40:39Speaker 5: go over and check it out. We'll go over and
- 40:41Speaker 5: check out what's going on over there too, check out
- 40:43Speaker 5: the viobs.
- 40:43Speaker 4: What's your best year at carb Day? We don't got
- 40:45Speaker 4: to go into details, but when it was Carb Day
- 40:47Speaker 4: really lit.
- 40:52Speaker 5: There's a couple of memories on car Day as a
- 40:55Speaker 5: young man, I might revert some things that I saw
- 40:59Speaker 5: for the first time. It might have been female anatomy
- 41:03Speaker 5: that I had only the scene for the first time
- 41:05Speaker 5: at card Base.
- 41:08Speaker 6: Yeah, that's live. There was definitely some things that you
- 41:11Speaker 6: might never see again, and you might see for the
- 41:14Speaker 6: first time.
- 41:18Speaker 5: I've seen a lot of Car Day. It's been kind
- 41:20Speaker 5: of crazy. But my favorite part is, you know, since
- 41:23Speaker 5: we stay here, it is seeing the last people who
- 41:27Speaker 5: leave the track on card Day.
- 41:29Speaker 2: They're in bad shape.
- 41:32Speaker 6: They're in bad shape.
- 41:34Speaker 2: So we called the last leg.
- 41:37Speaker 1: Get spokey, I got one more question before we keep
- 41:41Speaker 1: going on or get out of here or whatever. I
- 41:44Speaker 1: watched this movie Grant Turismo, Yes, and it was about
- 41:47Speaker 1: a guy who played the video game ended up going pro.
- 41:50Speaker 1: And I was the one that asks you, like, do
- 41:52Speaker 1: you think the simulators and all those things can help
- 41:55Speaker 1: a person really go pro?
- 41:56Speaker 2: On race car racing, we.
- 41:58Speaker 5: Are certainly getting to an era of technology that it's
- 42:03Speaker 5: pretty cool, and it is.
- 42:05Speaker 6: It is getting close.
- 42:05Speaker 5: Like we've got like video games that are so good
- 42:10Speaker 5: that people think that they're actually real racing drivers.
- 42:12Speaker 6: Now a lot of the times that's not true.
- 42:14Speaker 5: But what Grand Trismo did and what the Grand Trismo story,
- 42:18Speaker 5: it's totally true. Like that guy literally was in Europe
- 42:21Speaker 5: racing the year after I was kind of leaving, and
- 42:24Speaker 5: so like I knew, I knew the story, and we
- 42:26Speaker 5: kind of all thought it was wild at the time,
- 42:28Speaker 5: but but then when he started racing and like producing
- 42:30Speaker 5: results and like, oh, this guy's he knows what he's doing,
- 42:32Speaker 5: like he's got it and so so pretty cool to see.
- 42:36Speaker 5: I don't I think we will see more of it
- 42:38Speaker 5: in the future. I do think that as the racing
- 42:41Speaker 5: games and the simulation technology grows, I do believe that
- 42:45Speaker 5: you're going to see more and more people at least
- 42:46Speaker 5: get a chance.
- 42:48Speaker 6: To try to drive.
- 42:49Speaker 5: There are several people I remember a few years ago
- 42:52Speaker 5: there was like a really good gaming champion and this
- 42:55Speaker 5: is back in like twenty eleven, so not even this
- 42:58Speaker 5: is like before the Grand Trismo story. One kid got
- 43:01Speaker 5: a chance to test a real race car, like after
- 43:04Speaker 5: he won it, and he got in the race car
- 43:05Speaker 5: and like did one lap and was like throwing up everywhere,
- 43:07Speaker 5: Like couldn't physically handle it because it's a much you know,
- 43:11Speaker 5: sitting at home and doing that, Like there's a lot
- 43:14Speaker 5: of mental stuff, but physically is that's the hardest part
- 43:17Speaker 5: of like adjusting to a real race car. So I
- 43:20Speaker 5: think in the future we could see more stories like
- 43:23Speaker 5: the Grand Trismo story. But still for now, you got
- 43:26Speaker 5: to get in in like the raw racing cars go
- 43:30Speaker 5: karts and be able to do it better than anyone else.
- 43:33Speaker 3: Still, And that's so crazy because that's just like somebody
- 43:35Speaker 3: playing two k and going to the NBA, which is impossible.
- 43:38Speaker 2: Possible, bro. That's why I couldn't believe that it was
- 43:39Speaker 2: a true story. He really did that. That's crazy.
- 43:42Speaker 6: It's pretty wild.
- 43:43Speaker 3: And you said twenty eleven that time period, shit, all
- 43:46Speaker 3: the cars had passed it and then he got in
- 43:47Speaker 3: that car and didn't know what.
- 43:49Speaker 6: Well, that's the thing.
- 43:49Speaker 2: Yeah, it was.
- 43:50Speaker 5: It was a It was a very funny story. Poor
- 43:52Speaker 5: kid was definitely a fish out of water for sure,
- 43:56Speaker 5: but it.
- 43:56Speaker 2: Was wildly imagine. Absolutely, we love city.
