- 0:10Speaker 1: Hey, welcome back to the North Florida Sports Network.
- 0:13Speaker 1: Happy Boxing Day, boxing Day Eve.
- 0:17Speaker 1: Hope you had a great Christmas.
- 0:18Speaker 1: I did, yeah, I got Jimmy Reno with me.
- 0:24Speaker 1: Here we're doing a little wrap up.
- 0:27Speaker 1: I want to react to Tate Roddenberger Rosenberger transfer portal.
- 0:32Speaker 1: Not necessarily the fact that he's entering the transfer portal, but how he did it Brutal.
- 0:38Speaker 1: Yeah, man, I didn't plan on doing a show in Boxing Day.
- 0:42Speaker 1: No but come on, yeah, I mean, the team traveled on Christmas Day.
- 0:49Speaker 2: Yeah Right, merry Christmas, coach Norville.
- 0:52Speaker 1: By the way, I'm not showing up for my seat on the plane Right and regardless of what you're doing next year, this is a bad move.
- 1:01Speaker 1: It's a bad look.
- 1:02Speaker 1: I think I know your dad's a coach.
- 1:06Speaker 2: All right.
- 1:07Speaker 2: Listen, I mean like obviously.
- 1:08Speaker 1: Why would you take place and practice the whole week?
- 1:12Speaker 2: Right.
- 1:13Speaker 1: Well, I mean, there's a way to do it.
- 1:14Speaker 1: I mean you didn't see Lundy out there, right, you know?
- 1:18Speaker 1: I mean you didn't.
- 1:18Speaker 1: These players that were opting out for the draft?
- 1:21Speaker 2: they respectively did it immediately Did it before practice started.
- 1:27Speaker 1: You don't go through the sacrifice that takes to prepare for a football game with your brothers, that you've done all year, sorry Go ahead.
- 1:34Speaker 2: No, yeah, no, you're exactly right.
- 1:36Speaker 2: You know, in practice there are very if there's, if any in positions are as important as quarterback position.
- 1:47Speaker 2: There's very few, maybe maybe corner, maybe maybe the center position, but taking first team reps as a quarterback is extremely important during practice.
- 1:58Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, and you took an entire week away from Brock Glenn being being the guy Right, so it.
- 2:08Speaker 1: I know that people will say that well, you were recruiting two transfer quarterbacks, Right?
- 2:16Speaker 1: Well, that was known before practice has started.
- 2:19Speaker 2: Right.
- 2:21Speaker 1: So don't, if you're going to transfer, do it, Step up, be a man, say hey, I'm not coming back.
- 2:26Speaker 1: You don't owe that to the team, to the fans or whatever to anybody the coaches I know it's a player Well players get a lot these days, but you need to respect the game.
- 2:38Speaker 1: It goes both ways, you know, and I think the way he did.
- 2:42Speaker 1: This is wrong.
- 2:44Speaker 2: Yeah, on the.
- 2:44Speaker 2: I mean we, we obviously, like I said, we, I don't know, but I, um, I have a hard time believing that Mike Norvell would have given Tate Roddamaker an entire week of first team reps, knowing that he was going to.
- 3:01Speaker 1: He definitely Potentially not playing this game.
- 3:02Speaker 1: He wouldn't need me, he wouldn't have practiced Right.
- 3:05Speaker 2: Exactly.
- 3:05Speaker 2: That tells you kind of everything you need to Right Um.
- 3:09Speaker 1: So you know and he would have done it.
- 3:10Speaker 1: You just been like, all right, well, go, just go ahead and go.
- 3:14Speaker 1: We got to do Home.
- 3:16Speaker 1: Auto is right.
- 3:17Speaker 2: My thing is that this is something that Tate Roddamaker has.
- 3:20Speaker 2: You know he's had these decisions to make the past couple of years.
- 3:24Speaker 2: Right, do I leave Florida state and try to be a starter somewhere else, even at a lower classification, or do I just kind of stay here and be a team guy, be the backup?
- 3:35Speaker 2: You know, maybe I get my shot, maybe not.
- 3:36Speaker 2: And he seemed to be fine with all of that.
- 3:40Speaker 2: Um, until now he's apparently not.
- 3:44Speaker 2: I just you know I have a hard time seeing it that.
- 3:48Speaker 2: You know, all of a sudden they told us that hey, we're bringing in a transfer quarterback this year and he just gets mad and decides he's going to try to screw this.
- 3:58Speaker 2: I think I don't know.
- 4:01Speaker 1: You knew that enough to start stop practicing.
- 4:05Speaker 1: You know, I just think if you were going to transfer, I doubted the game.
- 4:10Speaker 1: You just don't quit, don't quit mid practice, like I think that's you quit, you quit on your the preparation for this game.
- 4:18Speaker 1: Now there's a lot of players that opted out and what they, what the committee did, is bullcrap.
- 4:25Speaker 1: I mean we've, we've spent, we're never I mean everyone's never going to get over that, or people will never forget that either.
- 4:32Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 4:33Speaker 1: And one thing this game is is all but an afterthought.
- 4:37Speaker 1: You know who?
- 4:38Speaker 1: Anybody that would say that had anything to do with what FSU's chances might be in a playoff game, Because they're without now the top two quarterbacks top two quarterbacks to receivers top running back, top two running backs, running backs.
- 4:58Speaker 2: Who else?
- 4:58Speaker 2: Just go down the list.
- 5:00Speaker 2: Three of their starting office of Lyman.
- 5:02Speaker 2: Couple of them are hurt, one of them transferred to TCU.
- 5:07Speaker 2: Other side of the ball, you got versus out.
- 5:11Speaker 2: Obviously best defensive Lyman Love.
- 5:15Speaker 2: It is out.
- 5:16Speaker 2: And these are all guys that you know Renato Green, jerry and Jones.
- 5:20Speaker 2: These are all guys that Are definitely gonna try and play on Sunday.
- 5:24Speaker 2: There are some guys that have a future on Sunday that are gonna be playing you know Right and.
- 5:28Speaker 2: Delos, braid and Fisk.
- 5:29Speaker 2: Wow, yeah, and so it.
- 5:33Speaker 2: You know there are a few guys that stayed and, honestly, man, I don't, I don't blame any, any of the players or anything that they did, and let you know, it's just something like this where you know you're not committed to playing in that game and you know you're not, but you go out there that practice anyway, understand that's kind of hard to To take man right you are, you're taking reps away from the guy that's gonna be depended on and and it kind of looks like you're just trim flowing along right after every, after what everybody went through.
- 6:04Speaker 1: Yeah you know together.
- 6:05Speaker 1: No, regardless, you were on this team and you and you contributed.
- 6:09Speaker 1: You were the starter and you played against Florida and you were part of this team into like To go.
- 6:15Speaker 1: I just don't understand the mentality to go out there and prepare For a week, you know, after not doing it right only to decide yeah and just goes to show you the man that they, the ACC, the committee is just Tour is broke.
- 6:31Speaker 1: All momentum FSU had, and I don't even think a loss could have done what the snub has done to Florida State.
- 6:41Speaker 2: No, no, I think it was definitely.
- 6:44Speaker 2: I Mean, it's more than than a loss.
- 6:46Speaker 2: It was worse than a loss, right?
- 6:48Speaker 2: That's what?
- 6:48Speaker 1: I was saying it's.
- 6:49Speaker 1: That moment, like because you now opened up a narrative.
- 6:54Speaker 2: I will say that that winning an ACC championship, at least you got something, some kind of yeah some accomplishment.
- 7:01Speaker 2: So that would have been worse, not winning that right.
- 7:05Speaker 2: You know it had we lost in the middle of the season, then Right it just, son I heard of it.
- 7:11Speaker 1: It's the ripple effects of one wasn't Unprecedented decision by the committee and a wrong one.
- 7:17Speaker 1: So and and to some point it's just another Thing that should have never happened.
- 7:24Speaker 1: That Roda, may I mean.
- 7:26Speaker 2: Yeah, man, that you shot, that she's shot in the Florida game changed his whole his whole life.
- 7:31Speaker 1: Man Just said just a bad, but that's football.
- 7:35Speaker 1: Yeah, so you have Brock Lynn gonna get the start.
- 7:41Speaker 2: Yeah, he'll get the start.
- 7:42Speaker 2: Um, you know, mcnamara is the backup, I guess.
- 7:46Speaker 2: Walk on QB.
- 7:48Speaker 1: Yep.
- 7:49Speaker 2: We go down the list, there's a lot of young guys.
- 7:53Speaker 1: Relied upon.
- 7:54Speaker 2: Chaka Douglas will be the backup running back right, you'll see Holmes and Douglas and some Samuel singleton.
- 8:00Speaker 2: We out there, the freshman.
- 8:03Speaker 2: You know this.
- 8:04Speaker 2: I don't.
- 8:04Speaker 2: This game doesn't count against any eligibility or anything like that, so why not?
- 8:08Speaker 1: It's yeah it does go into the final record.
- 8:13Speaker 2: Yeah, sure, why not?
- 8:15Speaker 2: But I Mean, you know the 13 and oh sure honestly, I'm gonna be honest with you, man.
- 8:21Speaker 2: If you're not finishing number one, who gives a shit?
- 8:23Speaker 2: As long as you're in the top 10, I mean, I seriously, you know me.
- 8:29Speaker 1: Portier, resided.
- 8:30Speaker 1: Start and receiver yeah.
- 8:33Speaker 2: You'll see hi keen.
- 8:33Speaker 2: I Hope we see a lot more of high keen Williams and we do Darian Williamson.
- 8:38Speaker 2: I just, you know, I'd rather see the young guys.
- 8:43Speaker 2: Jacobs, let him play Goldie Lawrence, you know all the freshmen.
- 8:46Speaker 2: Just give him as much time as you can, excited to see.
- 8:49Speaker 1: Douglas and run him back.
- 8:51Speaker 1: I guess you know he is.
- 8:52Speaker 1: I think he can do something back there.
- 8:54Speaker 2: Yeah, I, I, uh, I mean I think you're gonna see a lot of Wildcat and this one, yeah, I don't think you're gonna see Brock Try to throw it a ton.
- 9:03Speaker 2: I mean you may see some down the field shots.
- 9:05Speaker 2: It's gonna be gross.
- 9:07Speaker 2: Man, yeah, we got, we got guys on defense still playing.
- 9:10Speaker 2: You know Bethune and Deloche, both in there at linebacker, a Lot of the guys on the defensive line that's what's interesting about this is is farmer.
- 9:19Speaker 2: You know, josh, farmer, patrick, peyton, darrell, jackson are all listed as on the depth chart and playing in this game.
- 9:26Speaker 2: You know your defensive line is actually where you took the least hit, even though you took arguably your best player off the off the team.
- 9:33Speaker 2: You got arguably your second best player still there and Braden Fisk, but I don't.
- 9:40Speaker 2: You know the offense is not gonna do anything.
- 9:43Speaker 1: So you're gonna need the defense.
- 9:44Speaker 1: Step out.
- 9:45Speaker 2: You're gonna need defense to score four touchdowns just to be close.
- 9:48Speaker 2: Man, it's yeah it.
- 9:50Speaker 2: You know it's a shame that they actually have to go through at this game With the the rosters being just at both sides.
- 9:58Speaker 2: Uga's lost a considerable number of you know players on scholarship, but they're not impact players the way Florida States guys are right, right.
- 10:10Speaker 1: Either way, it's for both teams and I know for George's.
- 10:15Speaker 1: Oh, and this is dude.
- 10:15Speaker 1: Yeah, well, this is taken.
- 10:16Speaker 2: This has taken a lot of the Pretty much any of the joy out of, unless you're just a sicko Georgia fan that hates Florida State.
- 10:22Speaker 2: Right, I mean that when the game starts, people are still gonna.
- 10:25Speaker 2: There's no legitimacy To beating Florida State.
- 10:30Speaker 2: You know, no matter what any anybody would tell you for from the Georgia side or anything like that, this game is as meaningless as it comes for them.
- 10:36Speaker 2: It's almost like a fucking slap in the face that they have to play in it as well.
- 10:41Speaker 1: But Well, I mean it's Contradiction bowl yeah, because one team didn't get in because nobody Thought that they were good enough to be in.
- 10:51Speaker 2: The other team didn't get in because they didn't think they deserved, but one team did deserve it, yeah.
- 10:58Speaker 1: But we couldn't put them ahead of a team we thought was better.
- 11:00Speaker 1: So why is Georgia not ranked ahead of Florida State, and there ever?
- 11:04Speaker 1: But they're favored.
- 11:08Speaker 1: It's just so obvious.
- 11:10Speaker 1: And then what you don't understand is why they didn't rank Florida State Back further.
- 11:17Speaker 1: You know, like right when the right, because it doesn't just like what it was.
- 11:19Speaker 2: I mean, how do you let this happen?
- 11:20Speaker 2: How do?
- 11:21Speaker 1: you not scream from the mountaintops that this is going on?
- 11:23Speaker 1: You know like?
- 11:24Speaker 1: Well, I mean it.
- 11:25Speaker 1: That's the whole thing is.
- 11:26Speaker 1: Is everyone that?
- 11:27Speaker 2: controls any of it?
- 11:29Speaker 2: I'm not sure I Doesn't allow anybody to to be heard screaming.
- 11:37Speaker 1: Well, that's what I meant.
- 11:37Speaker 2: It's just dismissed, yeah you know, oh, you know, he's Herb Street goes on an entire PR campaign on his Twitter about, you know, crazy fsu fans and all that.
- 11:48Speaker 1: Well, and then that when they, if Georgia comes out and dominates the game, it's just gonna anybody that would say anything otherwise.
- 11:57Speaker 1: And well, we're already saying about this game yeah, it doesn't matter either way.
- 12:03Speaker 1: No, it doesn't even if fsu wins, it's hard to say that.
- 12:07Speaker 1: I mean, you didn't lose a game, so the team were to dude, if fsu won this game, it would be coaching the biggest.
- 12:19Speaker 1: It's just not a lot of trick plays.
- 12:22Speaker 1: The annexation of just a squad of countries, territories.
- 12:27Speaker 2: And these are guys that that haven't had any meaningful reps.
- 12:30Speaker 2: They're gonna be out there against One of the best teams in the country, you know, pretty much at full strength.
- 12:38Speaker 2: I mean they've had a few guys that that aren't gonna play for him, but it it's just gonna be gross.
- 12:48Speaker 1: Merry.
- 12:48Speaker 2: Christmas.
- 12:49Speaker 1: Merry Christmas.
- 12:49Speaker 1: Dave Roddermacher did not wanna.
- 12:52Speaker 1: You should have just told the team before they started practicing.
- 12:55Speaker 2: Right.
- 12:56Speaker 2: I think that's everybody's point on.
- 13:02Speaker 2: Anyone who has an aggressive feeling about it, that's pretty much where they're getting angry from.
- 13:08Speaker 1: Right.
- 13:09Speaker 2: It's like dude, you wasted an entire week of everybody's time.
- 13:13Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 13:13Speaker 2: For what?
- 13:14Speaker 2: So you could make double sure that you didn't wanna play in the game.
- 13:17Speaker 2: Or maybe you had somewhere to go, or whatever it was.
- 13:21Speaker 2: But you don't just wake up one day and be like oh man, you know what, I just don't wanna do this anymore.
- 13:26Speaker 2: Or maybe you do, man.
- 13:27Speaker 2: Maybe the kid just woke up one morning and was like I can't do this anymore, Again, I doubt it.
- 13:32Speaker 1: I said it initially though anybody on this team.
- 13:36Speaker 1: If any team ever got any kind of benefit of a doubt, of ropting out or anything, it's this team.
- 13:42Speaker 1: Right, Because they deserve better Than what they got.
- 13:47Speaker 1: And these are the ripple effects of what a snub like this, what an unprecedented snub.
- 13:52Speaker 1: They stole the glory and the heart out of the game and the sacrifice that makes the game great.
- 13:57Speaker 2: Right.
- 13:58Speaker 1: And they made it all but professional sports.
- 14:00Speaker 1: I mean, they were still holding on to it, you still could do it, but it's clear as day, yeah.
- 14:08Speaker 2: The only thing people me take issue with is like it's clear that once you start practicing, everybody here has the intent on playing Right, that's weird.
- 14:22Speaker 2: That's the understanding right Like, once you start practicing, it's all or nothing.
- 14:28Speaker 1: Right.
- 14:28Speaker 2: Especially at that position.
- 14:29Speaker 1: Oh dude, yeah, you need to.
- 14:32Speaker 1: Just hey, I don't think anybody would have.
- 14:34Speaker 1: It would have been unfortunate.
- 14:36Speaker 2: Well, you see now like-, but it's way worse to do it now.
- 14:40Speaker 2: Right and that kind of just and that kind of just and you gotta just tell yourself I mean, he's a kid that was okay with being the backup for five years, man, and it you know that's.
- 14:51Speaker 2: I don't want to say that he just realized that maybe the job is too big for him, but I think he just you know it speaks to a certain level of maturity in how you handle things and that was probably the worst way you could have done it.
- 15:07Speaker 2: So, whatever you know, good luck to him.
- 15:10Speaker 2: I don't think he's gonna be anybody we'll ever face in the future.
- 15:17Speaker 2: So we'll see, man.
- 15:20Speaker 1: Yeah, this team, just this team did not have a good ending.
- 15:26Speaker 2: No, I didn't I mean, and that that's something that's self-inflicted, that's something that's coming like friendly fire, man.
- 15:32Speaker 2: You know, it's one thing to get screwed over by the committee and to deal with those kinds of things that you deal with and everything, but then to have, you know, something like that happen.
- 15:42Speaker 1: It's kind of something from inside your own, your own walls, that's that's also tough, yeah, but that was you knew, that's the way the game is nowadays and these, these bowl games, that if you're not in the playoff, that's they really don't matter.
- 15:58Speaker 2: No, they don't.
- 15:59Speaker 1: So you just hate to see them do it at the time he did it, I guess.
- 16:05Speaker 2: Yeah, all things being considered, you know what the program went through, the magnifying glass that was on that position on Tate Rottemaker in particular.
- 16:14Speaker 2: You know there was nobody that was ever not in Tate's corner from the Florida state side of things.
- 16:22Speaker 2: You know talking about how much confidence they had in him to not not fall off and anything like that.
- 16:28Speaker 2: So it's, I don't know.
- 16:30Speaker 2: It leaves a little bit of a bad taste in your mouth and when this kind of thing is the way a kid leaves.
- 16:35Speaker 2: But again, he's just a kid, this is just a no, it's a big game.
- 16:41Speaker 1: I mean it's it's a big game, it just doesn't feel like it.
- 16:44Speaker 2: Yeah, it's well.
- 16:45Speaker 2: That's another thing.
- 16:46Speaker 2: I mean it says a lot.
- 16:47Speaker 2: The kid had a game against Georgia, the opportunity to play against Georgia.
- 16:51Speaker 1: Right.
- 16:51Speaker 2: That.
- 16:52Speaker 1: He didn't want to.
- 16:53Speaker 2: Yeah, he didn't want to.
- 16:55Speaker 1: I do like the fact that guys like to loach thisk are out there playing finishing.
- 17:02Speaker 1: It says a lot about who they are, yeah now it doesn't not not taking away from the guys that opted out.
- 17:11Speaker 1: No, it's pretty much just play Person-to-person, whichever ever decision you make motivation and what benefits like your spot, like if there's something to be gained there for a player, like they have draft stock that could be gained, or yeah, no, cuz you talking about Fiskus, his first year playing at a big stage, you know he was didn't have the type of eyeballs watching him up till this year, you know.
- 17:37Speaker 1: So it's different for him than it would be for love it.
- 17:40Speaker 2: Yeah, and it like you don't.
- 17:41Speaker 2: He may not want to give it up yet.
- 17:43Speaker 2: You know, Like you said, he didn't have those kind of eyeballs watching him when he was at Western Michigan.
- 17:48Speaker 2: He may want one more time against right.
- 17:50Speaker 2: Hey, the two-time defending national got a chance to make a name for himself.
- 17:54Speaker 1: You like that?
- 17:54Speaker 1: Yeah, what that in a game foot like a football, you respect I.
- 18:01Speaker 2: Would be shocked if his agent wasn't screaming at him to not playing this game.
- 18:06Speaker 2: But I, you know, at some point you got to.
- 18:08Speaker 2: Just you represent football players, man, they're gonna do what they want to do and I, like I said, he's a real one, he's gonna go out there, suit up one more time.
- 18:19Speaker 2: You know It'll be fun for a little bit to watch the defense play, even even with the guys out that are out.
- 18:26Speaker 2: I just, you know, I I hope they don't try to wear them down, just play them a bunch of plays.
- 18:33Speaker 2: Let fists get out there, do some things and then just start playing young guys, scoreboard is going to be just not even a factor.
- 18:42Speaker 2: Really yeah, no chance, no chance, no chance.
- 18:46Speaker 2: Tell me there's no chance.
- 18:49Speaker 2: Tell you there is zero chance of this.
- 18:52Speaker 2: What's the spread Like?
- 18:54Speaker 2: 16 and a half.
- 18:54Speaker 2: That is the easiest money in the history of a legal or now legal gambling.
- 19:00Speaker 2: Seriously, I can't believe it's that low.
- 19:08Speaker 1: Where's the?
- 19:08Speaker 2: yeah, where's the offense going to come from.
- 19:13Speaker 2: Like I said, defense is going to have to score four touchdowns just to that defense played in all-time performance.
- 19:21Speaker 1: You can see they can keep it up they lost.
- 19:23Speaker 2: Yeah, you lost too many key pieces, you guys the best corner, the best pass.
- 19:28Speaker 2: You lost your best corner.
- 19:29Speaker 1: You lost, you know, best run linebacker Best run, wasn't he rated out as like the best.
- 19:36Speaker 2: Yeah, DJ was one of these top linebacker in the country against the run Even though the D-line didn't get hit hard, as other positions Still did get hit.
- 19:47Speaker 2: Well, because you added Jackson, If you weren't adding Jackson, that love it.
- 19:51Speaker 1: Loss would be huge.
- 19:52Speaker 1: I've tried to see him and this play together.
- 19:55Speaker 2: This might be your only chance to see Darryl Jackson play in a Florida State uniform.
- 19:59Speaker 1: So oh wow, yeah, yeah, that's the.
- 20:02Speaker 1: That's college football nowadays.
- 20:03Speaker 2: Yeah, it's another thing A lot of these guys, even the ones that are underclassmen, you never know when they're not going to be on the team, so get your last look at them.
- 20:12Speaker 2: Great yeah, all right, it's good stuff, man.
- 20:17Speaker 2: Let me tell you Figure skating of football has.
- 20:20Speaker 2: But hey, you know what about these transfers, man?
- 20:23Speaker 1: What's going on quarterback, you know.
- 20:26Speaker 2: I don't, I don't even care anymore, man, Like Camor DJ.
- 20:29Speaker 2: I don't know man, somebody.
- 20:34Speaker 2: I still say it's going to be DJ.
- 20:36Speaker 2: I figured once You're going to need one of them.
- 20:39Speaker 2: Yeah, Once old Tate announced that he was out of there, that they dropped it whichever QB they were going to take.
- 20:44Speaker 2: But he knows, man, you might not get either, and then it'll be even more fun.
