Latest / Connor with Honor: AI, Real Estate and Real Life / How To Set Up Claude AI Safely (And The Privacy Toggle That Doesn't Mean What You Think)
Transcript
- 0:00SPEAKER_00: Let's talk about how you set up Claude in the best way possible.
- 0:04SPEAKER_00: If you want to get one of those large language models, your own artificial intelligence, and you're kind of you know racking your brain a little bit, trying to figure out how to do it.
- 0:11SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna walk you through a safe way to do it and give you some experiences.
- 0:15SPEAKER_00: I teach real estate agents, I taught police back in the day to do various things, and the internet and technology have really created a little bit of a bridge.
- 0:24SPEAKER_00: So, what we'll do is we will go to actual Google.
- 0:27SPEAKER_00: Let me go ahead and shrink this down, or whatever search engine you want.
- 0:31SPEAKER_00: But the let me let me explain something here that might be important.
- 0:35SPEAKER_00: You want to make sure that when you're trying to find Claude, you are going to the correct website.
- 0:42SPEAKER_00: Now, it is Claude.ai, C-L-A L L A, if I can spell it, C-L-A-U-D-E.
- 0:51SPEAKER_00: So that's where you would go if you want to get the browser version of it to be able to use it because there are different versions.
- 0:58SPEAKER_00: There's the one for the browser, there's the one you can download on your computer.
- 1:01SPEAKER_00: Uh both of those, I believe, are paid for, at least the computer portion.
- 1:05SPEAKER_00: So using it in your browser, you're going to get some free stuff.
- 1:07SPEAKER_00: We'll set up a brand new free account together so we can walk through it.
- 1:11SPEAKER_00: But it's clawed.ai.
- 1:13SPEAKER_00: And you would punch that in here in the top.
- 1:15SPEAKER_00: Some people are using their search engines by doing it here.
- 1:19SPEAKER_00: So if you do search for it here in the search bar, you just want to make sure you're finding the right place.
- 1:26SPEAKER_00: So this one, Claude.ai, that's correct.
- 1:29SPEAKER_00: This one's also correct, Claude.ai.
- 1:32SPEAKER_00: Anthropic, that's the owner of Claude, but you'll see some things that start to look a little bit different.
- 1:38SPEAKER_00: You have Claude.com.
- 1:40SPEAKER_00: Maybe that's the same.
- 1:42SPEAKER_00: Maybe it's owned by Anthropic, but then you go a little further, you're going to see other things that are going to really kind of take you away from where you're trying to be, and that's Claude.ai.
- 1:52SPEAKER_00: If you click here, they're going to get charged for this.
- 1:54SPEAKER_00: If you go here, you can just go there, or you can just punch Claude.ai right here.
- 2:01SPEAKER_00: So once you get on here, there's a couple different things you can do.
- 2:05SPEAKER_00: Now, if you already have a Gmail address and you don't mind, and I don't really see the danger in anything, you can connect with Google, then it will connect through your email address.
- 2:15SPEAKER_00: Here is another way to connect through email.
- 2:17SPEAKER_00: So I'm going to use another email address, Connor with Honor at gmail.com.
- 2:23SPEAKER_00: So we'll use this one.
- 2:25SPEAKER_00: And what you do is it's going to send me a verification email before I can log in or get an account.
- 2:31SPEAKER_00: And what I'll do is I will go look at my email.
- 2:33SPEAKER_00: So you go ahead and stand by here, and just like your email, it would show up, and then it's going to say something like, let's get you signed in.
- 2:42SPEAKER_00: And it has a Claude indicator on it.
- 2:44SPEAKER_00: Let's get you signed in, sign into Claude AI, and then you're going to click that particular link.
- 2:50SPEAKER_00: So we'll come back here.
- 2:52SPEAKER_00: I'll I'll act like I'm clicking on the link and it's going to take me here.
- 2:58SPEAKER_00: And then this is where it's going to make that introduction to me to create an account.
- 3:03SPEAKER_00: Now, of course, you're going to agree with their terms of service.
- 3:06SPEAKER_00: And just to give you an idea, this is their terms of service.
- 3:10SPEAKER_00: This is when I did a a meeting the other day talking to people in our generation.
- 3:15SPEAKER_00: We still kind of are under under the idea that there's privacy.
- 3:19SPEAKER_00: I think we probably gave that away, whether it was an agreement like this or something when you got your iPhone or something when you purchased your last smart TV, because these agreements are completely deep, many, many pages, and they're full of all sorts of information.
- 3:33SPEAKER_00: So if you're agreeing with it, you know, go through it, of course, if you want to read it.
- 3:36SPEAKER_00: And there's all sorts of we have acceptable use policies too.
- 3:40SPEAKER_00: It's going to talk about what you should do or shouldn't do with the system.
- 3:43SPEAKER_00: If you start using this to try to hurt other people, it's going to be a problem, and they'll probably figure it out rather quickly.
- 3:50SPEAKER_00: And who knows what's going to happen.
- 3:51SPEAKER_00: So let's say we agree to all of this.
- 3:54SPEAKER_00: Then I'm going to go ahead and create an account.
- 3:56SPEAKER_00: So I'm going to click here.
- 3:57SPEAKER_00: Now, if you didn't want to use that email, you can also come down here and use a different email.
- 4:04SPEAKER_00: So now we're going to create the account.
- 4:05SPEAKER_00: Now here's your choice.
- 4:08SPEAKER_00: Your free plan.
- 4:09SPEAKER_00: And if you look here, it's it's probably not purposely being misleading, but most of these systems, when you're signing up for stuff online, it's going to give you this better uh the better price.
- 4:21SPEAKER_00: And the better price is because they're billing you here annually.
- 4:24SPEAKER_00: So$200 a year if you want to get the what normally would be$20 a month.
- 4:29SPEAKER_00: But the default as it loads in, it's going to show you that yearly price if you pay a year up front.
- 4:36SPEAKER_00: Same thing here.
- 4:37SPEAKER_00: Now this one's going to be this one actually, the max plan, there is no better benefit for paying it for a year up front, which apparently not very many people do.
- 4:44SPEAKER_00: For this one, if you can squeeze it, sure, go ahead.
- 4:46SPEAKER_00: But let's go ahead and start on that free plan, and you can kind of get an idea of what the differences are.
- 4:51SPEAKER_00: You're going to get more usage, of course, for the 20 bucks a month.
- 4:54SPEAKER_00: But as you're learning this, as you're figuring it out, and I'll do a video covering uh how to get into Chat GPT.
- 5:00SPEAKER_00: This is the free one's really good.
- 5:03SPEAKER_00: They're pretty good about how much how much compute they give you, how many tokens they give you.
- 5:07SPEAKER_00: Tokens is basically like quarters in a video game.
- 5:11SPEAKER_00: You you get so much playtime with it.
- 5:13SPEAKER_00: You can do so much research, so much work, so much design, so much questioning, so much relationship, whatever it is you're doing.
- 5:20SPEAKER_00: So we'll click on Git Claud for free.
- 5:23SPEAKER_00: And then here it's gonna give you some more instructions.
- 5:26SPEAKER_00: Now, couple things.
- 5:28SPEAKER_00: You can download this onto your hard drive, and when you do that, it's going to look uh very similar to mine, which is gonna be over here.
- 5:36SPEAKER_00: Actually, I uh created a script for this.
- 5:38SPEAKER_00: I'm not very good at going by the script, but this is somewhat what it looks like.
- 5:42SPEAKER_00: You can do that, or you could skip this part and just use it in your browser.
- 5:46SPEAKER_00: My recommendation for the first time, first few times I would skip it, just use your browser.
- 5:51SPEAKER_00: Here it's gonna come up.
- 5:53SPEAKER_00: This one here, it talks about ad-free chats.
- 5:56SPEAKER_00: We're not gonna show you ads or let advertisers influence what Claude says.
- 6:01SPEAKER_00: That's kind of their uh line in the sand because some other open uh open models, excuse me, public-facing closed source models uh like Chat GPT, for example.
- 6:10SPEAKER_00: If you don't pay for an account, there's gonna be some ads floating in there.
- 6:14SPEAKER_00: And there's been some talk on the street that some of those advertisers are able to make those results lean a little bit more in their favor.
- 6:23SPEAKER_00: Whether that's true or not, I don't know.
- 6:24SPEAKER_00: Jury will probably be out for a while.
- 6:26SPEAKER_00: But at least here, Claude is being as upfront as possible.
- 6:30SPEAKER_00: It uses a constitutional AI.
- 6:32SPEAKER_00: I would look that up if you're interested what that means.
- 6:34SPEAKER_00: That's a whole rabbit hole in the way that it was trained and of itself.
- 6:38SPEAKER_00: And then here, built to help, not harm, automated safeguards protect your chats from violent abuse or deceptive content.
- 6:45SPEAKER_00: Great.
- 6:45SPEAKER_00: And then here's the little switch that allows your information to be shared with them in order to improve the model.
- 6:56SPEAKER_00: So people click this off thinking that if they click it off, then there's not going to be any of their information that's gonna be seen by anybody.
- 7:04SPEAKER_00: Not that we're trying to hide anything, but that's that's incorrect.
- 7:08SPEAKER_00: Whenever you're typing information into a large language model that is not yours in your own computer, installed on your own hard drive, and to do that you need a pretty fancy machine that has a lot of bandwidth, a lot of memory, a lot of video RAM, or VRAM as they call it.
- 7:25SPEAKER_00: And these are things like uh NVIDIA makes one called uh DGX Spark.
- 7:31SPEAKER_00: Uh AMD has their own little AI computer as well.
- 7:35SPEAKER_00: These are five grand devices,$5,700 devices.
- 7:38SPEAKER_00: And then you can move into a MacBook, uh a Mac Studio, that's gonna run you five plus.
- 7:44SPEAKER_00: So those systems can run their own AI.
- 7:46SPEAKER_00: For most of you watching, it's probably gonna be something that's belongs to uh somebody else.
- 7:52SPEAKER_00: Open AI's uh OpenAI has Chat GPT, Anthropic has Claw, that's what we're on right now.
- 7:59SPEAKER_00: Microsoft has one called Copilot, that's theirs.
- 8:03SPEAKER_00: Uh Grok has X uh Grok has XAI has Grok, which is theirs.
- 8:09SPEAKER_00: Meta or Facebook, they also have an AI system.
- 8:13SPEAKER_00: So, you know, there's a lot of choices.
- 8:15SPEAKER_00: The the ones that are running right at the top as of where are we today?
- 8:19SPEAKER_00: The 22nd of April, 20, excuse me, August 22nd, 2026.
- 8:24SPEAKER_00: That's gonna be Anthropics Claude and OpenAI's Jet GPT.
- 8:29SPEAKER_00: So if you click this off, it's not like somebody's people aren't gonna see your information.
- 8:35SPEAKER_00: Plus, your information is here.
- 8:37SPEAKER_00: So be wary with that.
- 8:38SPEAKER_00: Understand that.
- 8:39SPEAKER_00: So let's we'll we'll we'll let on, let's shut it off.
- 8:41SPEAKER_00: It'll be fun.
- 8:42SPEAKER_00: It'll be the same thing for us.
- 8:43SPEAKER_00: So now we're gonna introduce ourselves.
- 8:45SPEAKER_00: So I'm gonna put Connor.
- 8:46SPEAKER_00: Um, not capitalizing.
- 8:48SPEAKER_00: You can capitalize.
- 8:49SPEAKER_00: This is my role.
- 8:50SPEAKER_00: What am I today?
- 8:51SPEAKER_00: Um not a founder.
- 8:53SPEAKER_00: Uh let's let's do you want to do educator?
- 8:55SPEAKER_00: I think I'm an educator.
- 8:56SPEAKER_00: So, what it'll do, it's gonna ask you some some choices about you, and you can go back and see all of these different ones: product management, software, engineering, engineering, human resources, finance marketing, design scientist, legal, student, founder, writer, educator.
- 9:09SPEAKER_00: Lots of stuff here, right?
- 9:10SPEAKER_00: Healthcare other, other's a good one.
- 9:12SPEAKER_00: And then when you choose one of these, it's gonna give you some different things.
- 9:15SPEAKER_00: You know, maybe you're a writer, you want to get your drafts polished, maybe you're a scientist that wants to talk about some experiments, maybe you work in operations and you want to draft an SOP or draft a vendor RFP or plan a rollout, data science, explore data sets, evolve.
- 9:29SPEAKER_00: So you see, so there's a lot of stuff here, and the system kind of is built around providing the best for these.
- 9:35SPEAKER_00: We'll go ahead and go consultant.
- 9:37SPEAKER_00: Um I don't know.
- 9:38SPEAKER_00: We can collect, we can prep for a client meeting.
- 9:41SPEAKER_00: I think I like educator.
- 9:42SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's like I can't even decide.
- 9:43SPEAKER_00: We'll do this, we'll explain a concept simply.
- 9:46SPEAKER_00: Now, it's then going to fill with this information, and it's going to do this automatically.
- 9:52SPEAKER_00: Maybe this isn't even something you wanted.
- 9:54SPEAKER_00: Maybe you clicked other and you really don't want the system to start out with its own prompt and and start that system.
- 10:00SPEAKER_00: But this is the beginning of your experience with artificial intelligence.
- 10:04SPEAKER_00: These models are getting sharper and smarter by the day.
- 10:08SPEAKER_00: Some of these models have some uh abilities that are so what they say dangerous that they're not allowing the public use of them, they're allowing top corporations to use them, but apparently not us.
- 10:20SPEAKER_00: But that's a whole nother story.
- 10:22SPEAKER_00: But this is where you would start, and very simply, you can either go down this rabbit hole, this is where you would type in what you would want.
- 10:30SPEAKER_00: Hello, can you tell me the best way to use you?
- 10:36SPEAKER_00: And then you type that in, and then you see what it says.
- 10:39SPEAKER_00: And what's nice about this is you can ask it how to work best with it, and it'll give you the rundown.
- 10:46SPEAKER_00: Happy to help, a few tips for getting the most out of me.
- 10:49SPEAKER_00: Be specific about content, the more detail.
- 10:52SPEAKER_00: Iterate rather than restart.
- 10:55SPEAKER_00: Use me for the whole workflow, not just one shot.
- 10:58SPEAKER_00: It'll go into it.
- 11:00SPEAKER_00: And then maybe, maybe here, would you like?
- 11:04SPEAKER_00: Can you help me teach you about how I like to do things?
- 11:12SPEAKER_00: This is this is a good a good inquiry as well, because if you're going to be creating content, if you're going to be doing something that has to do with your name and you want to slap your personality onto it, I think that's important.
- 11:25SPEAKER_00: Now, because of what we selected in the beginning, it's going to be talking about education.
- 11:30SPEAKER_00: Let's say you select it and you want to go back and you really don't want to be, you don't want to be an educator, because right now it would seem that it's kind of bending everything around education.
- 11:39SPEAKER_00: You can tell it, listen, made a mistake in the beginning.
- 11:42SPEAKER_00: I'm not an educator.
- 11:43SPEAKER_00: In fact, instead of selecting this, we'll just do this.
- 11:50SPEAKER_00: I'm not an educator.
- 11:53SPEAKER_00: I am a rocket scientist.
- 12:00SPEAKER_00: I think I probably spelled it wrong.
- 12:01SPEAKER_00: But anyway, so I'm a rocket scientist.
- 12:03SPEAKER_00: So now it's going to change and it's going to assume the role of, you know, me being a rocket scientist.
- 12:08SPEAKER_00: So then it's going to talk about technical engineering topics.
- 12:11SPEAKER_00: But that's really it.
- 12:12SPEAKER_00: There's so much to do, there's so many other things, but this is kind of how you sign up and get started.
- 12:17SPEAKER_00: You can ask it, what does this projects thing mean?
- 12:21SPEAKER_00: What do these artifacts do?
- 12:22SPEAKER_00: What is this code thing that you that I see on the left?
- 12:25SPEAKER_00: What does customize mean?
- 12:27SPEAKER_00: And just punch it in and it'll walk you down the path.
- 12:30SPEAKER_00: And listen, if it's talking too technical, then you ask it to dumb it down.
- 12:35SPEAKER_00: Talk to you like you're a seventh or eighth grader.
- 12:37SPEAKER_00: And I'm not trying to be offensive.
- 12:39SPEAKER_00: I have it explained stuff to me as if I'm a seventh or eighth grader, and you know what?
- 12:43SPEAKER_00: That light bulb comes on a lot faster than normal.
- 12:46SPEAKER_00: So that's a good way to start with this.
- 12:48SPEAKER_00: I'm Conor with Honor.
- 12:49SPEAKER_00: If you want to know more, you can go to Santa Clarita Artificial Intelligence.com.
- 12:53SPEAKER_00: And uh hopefully this helped you get in, and hopefully it'll be amazing.
- 12:58SPEAKER_00: We'll see you in the next one.
- 12:58SPEAKER_00: Thanks for watching.
