- 0:59Speaker 3: What a beautiful intro.
- 1:01Speaker 4: Oh, yeah.
- 1:01Speaker 3: Thank you.
- 1:02Speaker 1: Doesn't he do it so well?
- 1:05Speaker 2: For the tissues.
- 1:06Speaker 3: Yeah, he did great.
- 1:07Speaker 1: He did great. So we're so excited to have you.
- 1:09Speaker 1: How was your flight?
- 1:10Speaker 5: Flight super easy, 40 minutes from San Antonio. But tell
- 1:13Speaker 5: me why I slept.
- 1:15Speaker 2: Dude, I get on the plane and I sleep before
- 1:17Speaker 2: it takes off.
- 1:19Speaker 3: It's very rare that I do that because I hate turbulence.
- 1:22Speaker 5: But I did that coming home from Albuquerque because we
- 1:25Speaker 5: went out and I didn't sleep.
- 1:27Speaker 2: But I'm also that guy. I hit the airport and
- 1:29Speaker 2: it's drink time.
- 1:30Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 1:30Speaker 5: Really?
- 1:31Speaker 2: I get a drink or two and I'll get it.
- 1:33Speaker 3: So you're nice and relaxed.
- 1:34Speaker 2: Man, I'll sleep as soon as I hit that fucking plane.
- 1:36Speaker 3: And you're the guys that I pass by and I go, oh,
- 1:38Speaker 3: it's drinking.
- 1:39Speaker 1: We're not sloppy like that. No.
- 1:42Speaker 4: No.
- 1:43Speaker 1: Speak for yourself.
- 1:44Speaker 4: I mean, we can get sloppy, but not on the airplane.
- 1:48Speaker 4: It depends on how long the flight is.
- 1:49Speaker 2: No.
- 1:49Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:49Speaker 1: We're not trying to bop that line. Right.
- 1:51Speaker 3: You're not trying to get kicked off the plane.
- 1:53Speaker 1: I need to come back.
- 1:54Speaker 3: Yeah, that's right.
- 1:56Speaker 5: Shit.
- 1:56Speaker 3: Don't tempt me with a good time.
- 1:58Speaker 2: I don't need to come back.
- 1:59Speaker 1: I got Delta.
- 2:01Speaker 4: He said, don't kick me out. tempted yes yes so
- 2:05Speaker 4: san antonio is that where you live.
- 2:07Speaker 5: Yeah that's where i live that's where i'm from and
- 2:09Speaker 5: you lived here before yeah i moved uh to dallas
- 2:12Speaker 5: in 2007 okay yeah 2007 lived here for seven.
- 2:19Speaker 4: Years san antonio afterward yeah went right back home so
- 2:22Speaker 4: where's actual home san antonio you went back home.
- 2:25Speaker 1: Yeah i went back home okay all right yeah awesome
- 2:29Speaker 1: we're all texas natives.
- 2:30Speaker 3: Huh Yeah, 100%. It's the best place to be. Yes, absolutely.
- 2:35Speaker 2: He's from the Midwest where there's nothing but dirt.
- 2:38Speaker 3: Yeah, nothing different here.
- 2:39Speaker 1: I mean, I feel... I'm.
- 2:40Speaker 2: From the Four Corners way up there where there's nothing
- 2:42Speaker 2: but drugs.
- 2:42Speaker 1: Ice and snow.
- 2:43Speaker 2: Drugs, ice and snow.
- 2:45Speaker 1: Yeah, it's always cold up there. Yikes. In Amarillo.
- 2:48Speaker 3: Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 2:49Speaker 2: A little bit further north.
- 2:50Speaker 3: My Uber driver in Albuquerque was from Amarillo.
- 2:53Speaker 2: All four seasons in one day.
- 2:54Speaker 3: Do you really?
- 2:54Speaker 2: It sucks.
- 2:56Speaker 4: The blizzards will be up your door and they still
- 2:57Speaker 4: expect you to go to school. We'll see you when
- 2:59Speaker 4: we see you.
- 3:00Speaker 1: Oh, not in Dallas. 65, close it down.
- 3:02Speaker 5: Oh, I remember when I lived here, there was a
- 3:05Speaker 5: pretty gnarly snowstorm. And I used to work for the
- 3:08Speaker 5: doll store, American Girl. That's where I worked for years.
- 3:11Speaker 5: And we still had to go to work because we
- 3:13Speaker 5: had to bring joy to the children.
- 3:16Speaker 3: And I was with child. So I was like, well,
- 3:18Speaker 3: what about the joy in my stomach?
- 3:20Speaker 5: You guys don't give a shit that I have to
- 3:21Speaker 5: drive my ass there with this big ass stomach.
- 3:24Speaker 2: I love it.
- 3:27Speaker 1: So I'm going to dive in. Where did the nickname
- 3:29Speaker 1: Chona come from?
- 3:31Speaker 5: That was a nickname my dad gave me growing up.
- 3:34Speaker 5: He said I reminded him of a woman that was
- 3:39Speaker 5: selling alcohol out of a paleta cart in Mexico. And
- 3:43Speaker 5: on Fridays, they knew she was coming. She'd be ringing
- 3:46Speaker 5: her little bells and she's got her... She would stop
- 3:48Speaker 5: at the job sites. It's payday Friday.
- 3:50Speaker 3: So they would... All the.
- 3:52Speaker 5: blue collared men would stop her and get their drinks.
- 3:55Speaker 5: And he said that she was just the funniest female
- 3:58Speaker 5: that a man had ever seen. And he said, you
- 4:00Speaker 5: remind me a lot of her, her spirit and her
- 4:02Speaker 5: character as a little girl. And I was like, so
- 4:05Speaker 5: you're saying that I'm an old woman that sells alcohol
- 4:10Speaker 5: to the men. He's like, no, besides that, that just
- 4:12Speaker 5: happened to be what she does. But she was very funny,
- 4:14Speaker 5: very witty. And she just had a way of of
- 4:17Speaker 5: being so charismatic with her comedy.
- 4:19Speaker 2: So you've always been funny and comedic, even just as
- 4:21Speaker 2: a child?
- 4:22Speaker 3: It's what they say. Yeah?
- 4:23Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 4:23Speaker 1: Okay.
- 4:24Speaker 5: I mean, it was really the only way to grab
- 4:26Speaker 5: people's attention, you know what I mean?
- 4:29Speaker 3: And the moment that I realized, like, oh.
- 4:31Speaker 2: This, I can.
- 4:32Speaker 1: I could do this.
- 4:32Speaker 3: I could do this.
- 4:33Speaker 5: I was like, I'm going to go ahead and keep
- 4:34Speaker 5: doing it.
- 4:35Speaker 2: When did your career kickstart?
- 4:38Speaker 5: 2018 is when I had my first viral video, and
- 4:41Speaker 5: it was at that point that we were like, yeah,
- 4:44Speaker 5: we got to run with this and see where we
- 4:45Speaker 5: can take it.
- 4:46Speaker 1: So what's it like when you have a video and
- 4:49Speaker 1: it just like, you just, you're just posting it, you know,
- 4:52Speaker 1: to post it. And then it just, it goes viral. Like,
- 4:54Speaker 1: what's that? What's, I imagine it's like hearing your song
- 4:56Speaker 1: on the radio, you know, just something to that extent.
- 4:58Speaker 3: Oh, a hundred percent.
- 4:59Speaker 5: Well, part of it is that my goal was that
- 5:02Speaker 5: I just was hoping to get at least a thousand
- 5:04Speaker 5: views on it.
- 5:05Speaker 3: That was going to be crazy great.
- 5:07Speaker 5: And I posted it on Labor Day and we drove
- 5:09Speaker 5: to go see my mom who lived in Del Rio, Texas,
- 5:12Speaker 5: which is two hours South of San Antonio. I never
- 5:15Speaker 5: checked my phone after I posted it before we left.
- 5:17Speaker 5: Cause my expectations, you know? And I guess I must've
- 5:22Speaker 5: had it on silent. So by the time we were
- 5:23Speaker 5: 30 minutes outside of Del Rio, it had 800,000 views.
- 5:28Speaker 3: And I was all.
- 5:31Speaker 5: Like, I couldn't, my husband's driving. I was like, like
- 5:34Speaker 5: I could barely even speak.
- 5:36Speaker 3: And he's like, what? And I showed him and he's like,
- 5:39Speaker 3: What the fuck? That's crazy.
- 5:42Speaker 5: But what happens when that happens is immediately you think 800,000 people.
- 5:46Speaker 5: I thought I was famous that day. I was walking
- 5:49Speaker 5: around Walmart.
- 5:50Speaker 1: Like, everybody notices me. I don't know who I am.
- 5:52Speaker 2: Everybody.
- 5:53Speaker 1: Where's my publicist?
- 5:54Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm out.
- 5:55Speaker 2: They just saw my video.
- 5:57Speaker 5: No, and I'm like, and I'm thinking like in my
- 5:59Speaker 5: head that people are staring at me and I was like, yes,
- 6:01Speaker 5: I'm the girl.
- 6:03Speaker 1: I'm the girl.
- 6:04Speaker 3: Yeah, that's me.
- 6:06Speaker 5: But we went to, there's like a little river that
- 6:10Speaker 5: goes down at Del Rio and people camp there and
- 6:13Speaker 5: they swim or whatever. We happened to be out there
- 6:16Speaker 5: and a lady from across the river actually walked over
- 6:18Speaker 5: and said, are you that girl?
- 6:20Speaker 3: And I was like, I told you. I knew it
- 6:24Speaker 3: was happening. I'm like, listen, it's happening.
- 6:27Speaker 5: I told my husband, you better get some security over here.
- 6:29Speaker 1: They're getting wild.
- 6:31Speaker 3: She didn't even know how to act, bro. I was like, yes,
- 6:33Speaker 3: you could take a picture.
- 6:34Speaker 4: Come on.
- 6:35Speaker 3: I love it. So that part of it, um.
- 6:38Speaker 5: It's so crazy how quickly your head fills with, I mean,
- 6:43Speaker 5: and I am not like that. If anybody who knows
- 6:46Speaker 5: me personally is like, she's not like that at all.
- 6:48Speaker 5: But I did, I made a few mistakes in that
- 6:51Speaker 5: area where I'd see people at the grocery store staring.
- 6:54Speaker 3: I'm like, yes, I know you're looking at me. Come
- 6:57Speaker 3: take a picture. And they're like, I don't, I'm sorry.
- 7:00Speaker 3: I don't even know who you are. I'm like, Get
- 7:03Speaker 3: humbled real quick.
- 7:05Speaker 1: So before you went viral, what was, what did you
- 7:07Speaker 1: envision or what was your career before, you know, before comedy?
- 7:10Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 7:11Speaker 5: Now, I honestly always had a passion to perform. I've
- 7:14Speaker 5: been performing since high school in theater. And, you know,
- 7:16Speaker 5: I went to acting school. I did all those things.
- 7:18Speaker 5: So you went to Los Angeles, right?
- 7:20Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 7:20Speaker 3: New York and Los Angeles.
- 7:21Speaker 5: Yeah. So I, but nothing really ever happened. And that
- 7:26Speaker 5: was my fault because I was young. I was dumb. I...
- 7:29Speaker 5: I really enjoyed the party life more than focusing. And
- 7:33Speaker 5: a job was really just a way to support me
- 7:36Speaker 5: so that way I can continue partying and whatever. So
- 7:40Speaker 5: before 2018, I was a claims adjuster at an insurance company.
- 7:45Speaker 5: And so, yeah, that's what I was doing.
- 7:48Speaker 1: You were the one that settled my claim?
- 7:49Speaker 3: It was probably me, honey.
- 7:51Speaker 5: I have fought with every attorney you can possibly think of.
- 7:54Speaker 4: You've hit enough curves and had enough wrecks that she
- 7:57Speaker 4: probably did.
- 7:59Speaker 5: We're like, you came out on the report for most
- 8:02Speaker 5: filed claims. We're going to send your ass to fraud.
- 8:06Speaker 5: And I see B warning immediately. So, yeah, that's what
- 8:09Speaker 5: I was doing.
- 8:09Speaker 1: Just.
- 8:11Speaker 5: Living my life as a wife as a mom and
- 8:14Speaker 5: you know at that time I only had my first
- 8:16Speaker 5: born and so that was it I was climbing the
- 8:19Speaker 5: corporate ladder and you know I would get a bonus
- 8:23Speaker 5: like that was great.
- 8:24Speaker 3: Like dude I got a fucking bonus.
- 8:26Speaker 5: She's kicking ass at work you know what I mean
- 8:29Speaker 5: and never thinking in a million years that this desire
- 8:33Speaker 5: to perform would just happen.
- 8:35Speaker 3: Kick off like it did yeah how many kids do
- 8:37Speaker 3: you have I have two.
- 8:38Speaker 2: Do either of them follow you in comedy?
- 8:41Speaker 1: Comedy. Comedy.
- 8:42Speaker 3: Comedy. That's a good one. I like comedy. The little one.
- 8:47Speaker 5: My 16-year-old is, she's a scholar. She's an honor student.
- 8:52Speaker 5: She's all that. My little one is a straight-A student
- 8:55Speaker 5: as well, but she's very witty.
- 8:58Speaker 3: Just naturally. And so.
- 9:03Speaker 2: My oldest is pretty witty.
- 9:04Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 9:05Speaker 3: And it's so fun to watch your children.
- 9:06Speaker 2: She's such a little, she's mean.
- 9:08Speaker 3: Well, so is Quinn.
- 9:09Speaker 2: I want to say what I wanted to say. Yeah.
- 9:11Speaker 5: No, they are. I think the funny ones are mean.
- 9:14Speaker 5: We'll trauma bond about this because I completely relate.
- 9:19Speaker 3: Mine's seven. How old is yours?
- 9:21Speaker 2: My oldest is 18.
- 9:23Speaker 3: Oh, so that's an adult kicking your ass.
- 9:25Speaker 4: Now, yeah, but when she was 13, 14, it was
- 9:28Speaker 4: a teenager kicking my ass.
- 9:29Speaker 3: Oh, yeah, those are tough years.
- 9:31Speaker 4: And my youngest now is 11 and he's falling behind.
- 9:34Speaker 3: Oh, I bet he knows it all.
- 9:36Speaker 2: You couldn't know better.
- 9:37Speaker 4: He was at his stepdad's house and he builds fences
- 9:41Speaker 4: for a living. My son was telling him, everything you
- 9:43Speaker 4: did wrong, you're not doing this right.
- 9:44Speaker 2: Do this right.
- 9:45Speaker 1: You don't do that right. You can't tell him.
- 9:47Speaker 2: That he doesn't know.
- 9:47Speaker 3: Oh, my God.
- 9:49Speaker 5: 11?
- 9:49Speaker 1: 11. Yikes.
- 9:49Speaker 2: 11 and he knows too much.
- 9:53Speaker 5: Yeah. I mean, but we encourage them to read, man.
- 9:57Speaker 5: Is that what he's reading at nighttime?
- 9:59Speaker 3: He's like, I had a bill.
- 10:00Speaker 1: Fences.
- 10:00Speaker 2: They don't read, they watch.
- 10:02Speaker 3: Very true.
- 10:03Speaker 5: I'm very blessed in the sense my girls like to read.
- 10:06Speaker 5: Like the seven-year-old made herself, I just was like, clean
- 10:09Speaker 5: your fucking room, please. It's always a mess. And she's like,
- 10:14Speaker 5: I cleaned my room, but I did do something productive.
- 10:17Speaker 5: And I'm like, what? She's like, there is a fort
- 10:19Speaker 5: in there. I know you're going to think it's not clean,
- 10:21Speaker 5: but mom, it's because it's a little nook so I
- 10:25Speaker 5: could read more books. And I'm like, how can you
- 10:28Speaker 5: say no to that?
- 10:29Speaker 4: All my stuff is piled in there, but I lay
- 10:32Speaker 4: on it to read.
- 10:33Speaker 5: And I looked, it was really cute. She had like
- 10:36Speaker 5: a little crate of books on the side. I'm like, hey,
- 10:38Speaker 5: she's really serious about this October reading challenge. She wants
- 10:41Speaker 5: her class to get the pizza party, you guys.
- 10:43Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 10:45Speaker 3: Gotta love it. Yeah, but that's what I do outside
- 10:47Speaker 3: of this. Kids, kids, kids, kids, kids. My world revolves
- 10:51Speaker 3: around that.
- 10:51Speaker 2: I've got a grandbaby growing up, too.
- 10:53Speaker 1: He's got a grandbaby.
- 10:53Speaker 2: So I get kids, kids, full time.
- 10:57Speaker 3: Kids, kids, kids, and grandkids, kids.
- 10:59Speaker 2: One year old December. What?
- 11:04Speaker 3: Are we the same age?
- 11:06Speaker 2: Do you want to talk about it?
- 11:07Speaker 3: I mean, let's go. I'm 38.
- 11:08Speaker 2: I'm 38.
- 11:09Speaker 3: Shut the fuck up.
- 11:10Speaker 1: Yeah. He looks older, huh?
- 11:12Speaker 2: Fuck off. Are you older? You're older and don't have
- 11:15Speaker 2: a grandchild. Yeah, he can fuck off right there. I'm
- 11:20Speaker 2: actually the youngest one in the room.
- 11:21Speaker 3: I could fuck all the way off because I said,
- 11:23Speaker 3: are we the same age?
- 11:25Speaker 2: You're younger than me, right?
- 11:26Speaker 3: No, I'm 42, mijon. Oh, man. I love it.
- 11:29Speaker 2: So I'm the youngest one in the room.
- 11:33Speaker 3: Dude, grandkids?
- 11:35Speaker 2: Yeah, man.
- 11:35Speaker 3: Slow the fuck down. I like to get it. What's
- 11:38Speaker 3: your rush?
- 11:38Speaker 4: I want someone to come see me in the funeral
- 11:41Speaker 4: or in the nursing home.
- 11:44Speaker 3: I'd be like, sir, how old are you? He's like 15.
- 11:46Speaker 5: The youngest motherfucker in the nursing home.
- 11:52Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 11:53Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 11:54Speaker 6: No.
- 11:54Speaker 2: So yeah. 18, 12, almost 12 and one.
- 11:57Speaker 3: Do you have babies?
- 11:58Speaker 5: Oh, no.
- 11:59Speaker 2: I got two babies, two dogs.
- 12:00Speaker 1: I got three babies.
- 12:00Speaker 3: Okay, what kind of dogs do you have?
- 12:02Speaker 1: I have a Chihuahua and a long-haired Jack Russell.
- 12:04Speaker 4: I say we're working on it. I'm trying to get
- 12:05Speaker 4: him because he wants to adopt and I need him
- 12:07Speaker 4: to hurry.
- 12:07Speaker 2: Up and do it.
- 12:09Speaker 3: A child?
- 12:09Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 12:10Speaker 2: Well, I want him to get like a 15-year-old because
- 12:12Speaker 2: mine are almost gone. I want to live my life.
- 12:14Speaker 5: I'm like, mm-mm.
- 12:14Speaker 2: I don't want to stick around for his.
- 12:16Speaker 3: Oh, so just one grown up and set in their ways? Yeah,
- 12:19Speaker 3: watch my.
- 12:19Speaker 1: House while I go on vacation.
- 12:21Speaker 2: Somebody come see him in the fucking nursing home.
- 12:25Speaker 5: But how do you know you're going to be in
- 12:26Speaker 5: the nursing home? What if they make you rot in
- 12:30Speaker 5: your bed?
- 12:30Speaker 1: I hope not. I'm going to be like Dolly. Nipped
- 12:33Speaker 1: and tucked in 17. Oh, please.
- 12:34Speaker 3: Same.
- 12:35Speaker 2: I'm a nurse full time, so I.
- 12:37Speaker 3: Spend a lot of time nursing home.
- 12:39Speaker 5: Oh, I see.
- 12:39Speaker 2: So that's real.
- 12:41Speaker 3: I love it.
- 12:41Speaker 5: Well, thank you for taking some time away. from your
- 12:44Speaker 5: duties to be here today.
- 12:46Speaker 2: Of course, I'm glad you came.
- 12:47Speaker 3: Yes, you're welcome. I'm happy to spread joy to you today, sir.
- 12:50Speaker 3: Thank you for your service. I'm just recruiting.
- 12:52Speaker 1: Right.
- 12:53Speaker 5: In case this doesn't work out, in case this doesn't
- 12:55Speaker 5: work out, you can fucking.
- 12:56Speaker 3: Come nurse with us at the nursing home.
- 12:59Speaker 1: So when did you, after your video goes viral, when
- 13:01Speaker 1: did you realize that Chun-Ai could be a career?
- 13:04Speaker 3: Yeah, that's a great question.
- 13:09Speaker 5: When I started doing stand-up comedy, And I, and it
- 13:12Speaker 5: was like the smallest thought because I started selling comedy
- 13:16Speaker 5: tickets before I even had a comedy set and, and
- 13:20Speaker 5: not like quick moment in time.
- 13:24Speaker 3: I thought like, oh, that'd be crazy if I can
- 13:26Speaker 3: do this like forever.
- 13:27Speaker 1: Right.
- 13:27Speaker 5: But I had never done standup before. So when it
- 13:31Speaker 5: actually started becoming real was when I was having a
- 13:37Speaker 5: hard time juggling everything, mom, wife, you know, full-time job, comedy, touring.
- 13:44Speaker 5: And then I got, you know, approached by management and
- 13:48Speaker 5: I was like, okay, this is getting fucking serious. What
- 13:52Speaker 5: do we do? You know, I think the biggest thing
- 13:56Speaker 5: for me and the hardest decision for me to make was,
- 13:59Speaker 5: do I continue pursuing this as a career or Or
- 14:05Speaker 5: is that making me like a bad mother? Because I
- 14:08Speaker 5: was the one that carried the medical benefits for the family.
- 14:11Speaker 5: And like, but I'm very blessed in the sense that
- 14:15Speaker 5: I have such an amazing family. My parents, my husband,
- 14:18Speaker 5: my children, everybody was like, go for it, mom. Like,
- 14:20Speaker 5: just do it. Just do it.
- 14:22Speaker 3: And so, yeah.
- 14:24Speaker 5: And so we took the plunge. I, you know, not
- 14:27Speaker 5: sure how many people will watch this, but I've never
- 14:29Speaker 5: talked about it until now. I quit my job in
- 14:32Speaker 5: June and I've been free falling with God's grace ever since.
- 14:37Speaker 2: This year?
- 14:37Speaker 3: Yes, sir.
- 14:38Speaker 2: No joke.
- 14:39Speaker 5: Yeah. I, it just had become too much. I was
- 14:42Speaker 5: getting a lot of panic attacks and anxiety about just
- 14:45Speaker 5: everything and trying to juggle and then the full-time job is,
- 14:50Speaker 5: is a whole nother, it's a whole nother beast because
- 14:55Speaker 5: even though they're, you know, you 40 hours a week,
- 14:58Speaker 5: but not in my job, you know, the claims adjuster jobs,
- 15:00Speaker 5: it's very demanding and, in this particular company, there was layoffs,
- 15:05Speaker 5: but they weren't replenishing the jobs. And so we would
- 15:07Speaker 5: have to pick up the slack. And when I'm not
- 15:10Speaker 5: pulling 60, 70 hours a week to keep up, you're
- 15:12Speaker 5: getting reprimanded. And I'm like, I'm not going to fucking
- 15:16Speaker 5: work for you guys 80 hours a week. And a
- 15:19Speaker 5: lot of my home girls that I worked with were
- 15:21Speaker 5: doing that. And there was times I was there at
- 15:25Speaker 5: 10 o'clock at night, just at my fucking desk. And
- 15:27Speaker 5: I worked from home, which was another blessing. But I
- 15:30Speaker 5: was like, I can't keep fucking doing this. I wasn't
- 15:32Speaker 5: having time for content. I wasn't having time.
- 15:35Speaker 3: So, yeah.
- 15:36Speaker 2: Okay.
- 15:37Speaker 1: So who is, who is Chonai? Is she a specific person,
- 15:43Speaker 1: a combination?
- 15:45Speaker 5: She, what you see here is not what you'll see
- 15:49Speaker 5: on stage when you guys come to the show. Chonai is,
- 15:54Speaker 5: is rough. She's very unapologetic. she is la mera mera,
- 15:59Speaker 5: like she is that bitch. Like, and she's not afraid
- 16:02Speaker 5: to stand up for herself. She's not afraid to, be
- 16:07Speaker 5: whatever she wants to be. She's the most confident person
- 16:10Speaker 5: in the entire world. And it's not at all who I,
- 16:13Speaker 5: who Joanna is, you know, like I.
- 16:15Speaker 2: Sounds like a lot of my drag queen friends.
- 16:17Speaker 3: Yeah. That's what it is. No, a hundred percent. It
- 16:20Speaker 3: really does.
- 16:21Speaker 2: It's like an alter ego.
- 16:22Speaker 5: Yes.
- 16:22Speaker 2: Like a Sasha Fierce.
- 16:23Speaker 3: If you will. Like a Sasha Fierce, if you will.
- 16:24Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 16:24Speaker 3: That's what it sounds like to me. That's, that's definitely Tawna.
- 16:27Speaker 1: Any performer, whether music, whatever, Any performer, then they go
- 16:31Speaker 1: on stage, they become a different person. It's a switch.
- 16:33Speaker 1: It's just a switch. And you get to be that person.
- 16:36Speaker 1: And it's unapologetically, it's great, you know?
- 16:38Speaker 5: Yeah. Yeah, in a nutshell, it's a Sasha Fierce type situation.
- 16:42Speaker 1: No, I was telling my mom.
- 16:43Speaker 2: I'm excited to see it.
- 16:44Speaker 3: Thank you. I speak a lot of Spanglish.
- 16:46Speaker 2: Do you?
- 16:47Speaker 3: I know a little bit.
- 16:48Speaker 1: He was married.
- 16:48Speaker 3: Okay, good, good. So try to keep up.
- 16:50Speaker 1: I don't do subtitles.
- 16:51Speaker 3: We're not talking about.
- 16:52Speaker 2: My marriage life.
- 16:53Speaker 4: No, nine years, Hispanic in-laws, nothing but Spanish.
- 16:56Speaker 2: So I'm pretty good.
- 16:57Speaker 3: Oh, yeah. Okay, good. Good, good, good.
- 16:58Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 16:59Speaker 1: Yeah, I know when I saw your video, I said
- 17:02Speaker 1: it to my mom and I go, mom. And she's like, okay, son.
- 17:04Speaker 1: I was like, no, this is like all my tias
- 17:06Speaker 1: and like grandma. There's all of them mixed in one.
- 17:08Speaker 1: I was just laughing and laughing. And I was telling
- 17:10Speaker 1: her this morning about the one that you did when
- 17:12Speaker 1: you're like, tia, you're going on the trip and she's
- 17:14Speaker 1: got the hat. She brought her bikini.
- 17:15Speaker 3: Yes, all her stuff. So that character is Doña Chona.
- 17:20Speaker 1: Doña Chona, yes.
- 17:21Speaker 5: She's... Three years old in internet land, I believe, three
- 17:26Speaker 5: or four years old. And yeah, that is what brings
- 17:30Speaker 5: all the senoras to, you'll see, there's a lot of
- 17:34Speaker 5: elders in the audience.
- 17:34Speaker 1: What really struck with the first video that I sent
- 17:36Speaker 1: to my mom was, because I was like, when I
- 17:38Speaker 1: have kids, you know, I'm going to eat, because my
- 17:40Speaker 1: mom doesn't particularly care too much to watch my dogs
- 17:42Speaker 1: when I go on vacation. And so she said, what
- 17:45Speaker 1: are you going to do? What do you have kids?
- 17:46Speaker 1: And I'm like, well, I'm going to bring one. No, no, no.
- 17:47Speaker 1: In the video, you know, you brought your kids here.
- 17:50Speaker 1: You didn't come back till Monday. And I was like,
- 17:52Speaker 1: that's it. It's my mom. I go, this is you.
- 17:54Speaker 3: It's exactly who you are.
- 17:56Speaker 5: And because and it's and it's crazy because a lot
- 17:59Speaker 5: of the stories is just like life experiences and things
- 18:03Speaker 5: that have happened, like in the family or stories I've heard.
- 18:05Speaker 3: And so I'm just.
- 18:07Speaker 5: Putting it to life with this character. I'll get texts
- 18:09Speaker 5: from the family, like.
- 18:10Speaker 2: Bitch, really? The world doesn't know, but I know.
- 18:14Speaker 3: But nobody knows.
- 18:17Speaker 1: So you've talked about, you know, using the comedy, you know,
- 18:20Speaker 1: with your different characters and insecurity and body shaming. How
- 18:24Speaker 1: has your relationship, how has this, how has your relationship
- 18:28Speaker 1: with yourself changed?
- 18:33Speaker 5: Am I the same person I was in 2000 18.
- 18:37Speaker 5: I don't know how to answer that.
- 18:42Speaker 3: I really, I don't. Are you more confident?
- 18:46Speaker 5: Yeah, that's, yeah, I would say yes. I'm definitely more confident. Um, Yeah,
- 18:52Speaker 5: I would say that. I would say that. I don't,
- 18:54Speaker 5: besides I get Botox and I'm a hundred pounds lighter,
- 18:57Speaker 5: but physically changed.
- 19:00Speaker 2: We can't tell you're confused about the question right now?
- 19:03Speaker 3: No, no, you can't.
- 19:03Speaker 5: I actually said a joke about it. You'll see tonight,
- 19:07Speaker 5: but yeah, I'm like, this is my mad face, my
- 19:09Speaker 5: happy face and my angry face.
- 19:10Speaker 3: I love Botox. It's great.
- 19:13Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 19:13Speaker 3: I would say definitely a lot more confident.
- 19:16Speaker 2: I love that.
- 19:16Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 19:17Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 19:17Speaker 1: Do you also, so with your comedy, do you feel
- 19:20Speaker 1: like your comedy is preserving a piece of Latino culture
- 19:24Speaker 1: with the personalities that we grew up?
- 19:25Speaker 5: 150 fucking percent. I feel, and I've said this a
- 19:30Speaker 5: few times, I feel like that part of our culture
- 19:32Speaker 5: is dying because we're so fucking censored and like.
- 19:38Speaker 3: Sensitive?
- 19:38Speaker 5: Sensitive and like, you know, growing up, growing up, my
- 19:45Speaker 5: mom would be like.
- 19:47Speaker 3: And like, that's. a fucking harsh ass word.
- 19:51Speaker 5: It is. I would never tell a child today, panzona
- 19:56Speaker 5: or panzon. Now, maybe some of my friends, maybe, and
- 20:00Speaker 5: we're roasting each other. Yeah, yeah.
- 20:01Speaker 3: But never, because you can't speak to people that way anymore.
- 20:04Speaker 3: It's just not.
- 20:06Speaker 5: And that's why I feel like that part of our
- 20:08Speaker 5: culture is dying, which is why I love that I
- 20:11Speaker 5: can play Doña Chona. Yeah. People aren't getting offended by
- 20:15Speaker 5: the things I'm saying because there's, yes, there's nostalgia behind
- 20:19Speaker 5: it and there's truth. And she is the people that
- 20:23Speaker 5: we grew up with, but she's 75 now and she's
- 20:25Speaker 5: still the same because that's who she is, you know?
- 20:28Speaker 5: And that's my favorite part about playing her is I
- 20:32Speaker 5: love that. I love that people are having that like
- 20:35Speaker 5: nostalgic spark when they watch the videos. And that's, that's
- 20:39Speaker 5: really important to me because I, I do.
- 20:41Speaker 3: It in honor of my mother-in-law and my, and my mom.
- 20:44Speaker 1: It's funny when, cause I have a big Botox and filler.
- 20:47Speaker 1: We talk about that and I love lip filler.
- 20:49Speaker 3: I love it.
- 20:49Speaker 1: They're a little small right now.
- 20:51Speaker 2: A little much.
- 20:53Speaker 1: But my grandmother got, she was a 93. She passed
- 20:56Speaker 1: two years ago, but 93 years of wisdom. But anytime
- 20:59Speaker 1: I'd get it done, I'd go see her. And she's like,
- 21:02Speaker 1: She'd be like, are you okay? And I'm like, yeah,
- 21:05Speaker 1: I'm okay. And I wouldn't tell her about the lips.
- 21:07Speaker 1: And mom would say, mother asked, she's like, why does
- 21:09Speaker 1: he look so fat? And it was my lips. Every
- 21:13Speaker 1: time I'd get my lips on and she'd be like,
- 21:15Speaker 1: he's fat. And mother's like, I don't know. She didn't understand,
- 21:17Speaker 1: you know, lip filler. But mom was like, and that's
- 21:19Speaker 1: muy hinchado. I was like, mother's asking why you're so fat.
- 21:22Speaker 3: You need to lay off the salt.
- 21:23Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 21:28Speaker 1: Absolutely. And so, like I said, that character just specifically
- 21:31Speaker 1: just growing up for me, that's what struck it. And
- 21:33Speaker 1: I was like, oh, and I had been talking about it, too.
- 21:35Speaker 1: And I was like, there's this I want to bring
- 21:37Speaker 1: her on the show. And then, you know, I saw
- 21:39Speaker 1: you got management and everything. So it's just, yeah, squirrel.
- 21:41Speaker 5: But anyway, so that was that was the highlight of
- 21:45Speaker 5: last year for sure.
- 21:46Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah.
- 21:47Speaker 1: So talking about like. your family, we won't go too
- 21:51Speaker 1: deep into it, but like your husband. So do you
- 21:53Speaker 1: ever make, on your comedy tour, do you make jokes
- 21:55Speaker 1: about your husband and how does he feel about that?
- 21:57Speaker 1: Does he get offended?
- 21:59Speaker 3: No, no. He likes every fucking pair of shoes I've
- 22:02Speaker 3: bought him after every fucking show. So he's happy.
- 22:09Speaker 5: Early on in the comedy, 99% of it was my husband.
- 22:14Speaker 5: I had a whole... bit about when I was toxic,
- 22:18Speaker 5: when we've been together a really long time, I had
- 22:20Speaker 5: a whole bit about, um, you know, how we handled
- 22:23Speaker 5: the weight loss journey. Like, and a lot of it
- 22:25Speaker 5: was about him. Um, now there's still a few bits
- 22:29Speaker 5: about him, but he doesn't mind at all.
- 22:31Speaker 2: And did he in the beginning?
- 22:33Speaker 5: Never, no, because we met in high school. So he's
- 22:35Speaker 5: always known what I've wanted to do. I just didn't
- 22:37Speaker 5: realize it would be standup comedy. And, uh, he's just
- 22:40Speaker 5: so supportive. He's like, I'm just happy to see you
- 22:42Speaker 5: where you finally belong. And I don't give a shit
- 22:44Speaker 5: that you're fucking roasting me the whole time you know
- 22:48Speaker 5: but um yeah he doesn't mind it and and in
- 22:51Speaker 5: the beginning uh he would be at every show because
- 22:53Speaker 5: we were just performing locally and so he would run
- 22:55Speaker 5: the merch table and people would say like the men
- 22:59Speaker 5: especially like you have some fucking balls like i would
- 23:01Speaker 5: never let my wife talk shit like the way she
- 23:04Speaker 5: does about you up there you know and my husband's
- 23:06Speaker 5: like I'm secure, man. I have no fucking issues with
- 23:09Speaker 5: my wife.
- 23:10Speaker 3: Doing what she loves.
- 23:11Speaker 2: That's really awesome. What's your husband's name?
- 23:12Speaker 3: His name is Bill.
- 23:14Speaker 5: Billy.
- 23:14Speaker 1: Billy.
- 23:15Speaker 3: Billy Estrada.
- 23:15Speaker 2: Kudos, Bill.
- 23:16Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 23:17Speaker 3: Kudos.
- 23:17Speaker 1: And I love that, too, because hearing that story also
- 23:19Speaker 1: sounds like one of my other favorite comedians is Leigh-Anne Morgan.
- 23:22Speaker 1: And her and her husband have been in it forever. Forever.
- 23:25Speaker 1: I got him watching her videos, too. She's like, oh, no.
- 23:28Speaker 1: With her accent.
- 23:28Speaker 3: With her little twang.
- 23:29Speaker 2: Oh, my gosh.
- 23:30Speaker 3: She's so good.
- 23:31Speaker 1: She said I had to be a hoe for him.
- 23:33Speaker 1: She had to do nasty things in that bedroom.
- 23:36Speaker 3: That's right. I agree with you, Morgan.
- 23:39Speaker 2: Every time he goes to a hotel room.
- 23:43Speaker 1: Unspankable things.
- 23:44Speaker 3: Relatable.
- 23:45Speaker 2: Man.
- 23:46Speaker 3: Relatable. You'll hear about it tonight. Relatable.
- 23:51Speaker 1: And so how do your daughters react to seeing mom
- 23:54Speaker 1: on stage?
- 23:55Speaker 3: So they don't come to the shows because mommy's raunchy.
- 23:59Speaker 3: I'm raunchy. Ladies, be prepared. And so they don't come.
- 24:04Speaker 5: But my 16-year-old got to be backstage at one of
- 24:10Speaker 5: the biggest shows of my comedy career, which was last
- 24:12Speaker 5: year in November.
- 24:13Speaker 3: It was a 985-seater.
- 24:16Speaker 2: Oh, wow.
- 24:18Speaker 5: And so she came out at the curtain call and
- 24:20Speaker 5: surprised me with flowers.
- 24:21Speaker 3: And she just... fell into my arms and started crying.
- 24:25Speaker 3: And I was like, why are you crying? She's like,
- 24:27Speaker 3: I'm so proud of you. So yeah. So it's, it's,
- 24:31Speaker 3: it's really cool. It's really cool.
- 24:32Speaker 5: And the little one loves it because her teachers are
- 24:35Speaker 5: all fans.
- 24:37Speaker 2: Her mom is famous.
- 24:39Speaker 3: Yeah. She's like, you're coming to speak again for career day, right?
- 24:43Speaker 3: I'll be there for the fourth year in.
- 24:45Speaker 2: A row, girl.
- 24:48Speaker 1: That's so cute. So going into your character a little
- 24:51Speaker 1: bit more about Doña Y. Yeah. So what is the
- 24:53Speaker 1: most stereotypical señora thing you do?
- 24:56Speaker 3: For Doña Chona?
- 24:58Speaker 5: The stereotypical thing that I do is if you notice
- 25:00Speaker 5: that every video she's either watching a novela right before
- 25:05Speaker 5: she answers the phone. And it's so stereotypical because she's
- 25:08Speaker 5: very engaged. She yells at the TV. And I think
- 25:11Speaker 5: that that's just super stereotype.
- 25:14Speaker 1: That and when you did the video and Dos Mujeres
- 25:17Speaker 1: Un Camino.
- 25:18Speaker 3: Oh, yes.
- 25:19Speaker 1: My grandmother, like, it's a Spanish novella. Like, that's how
- 25:22Speaker 1: I was learning Spanish with my grandma. I stayed with
- 25:24Speaker 1: her and we watched it. And she did the video
- 25:26Speaker 1: with the Laura.
- 25:27Speaker 3: Laura Leon.
- 25:28Speaker 1: And she's singing the song in front of the 18-wheeler
- 25:30Speaker 1: because the driver left her for the other girl.
- 25:33Speaker 3: Yes.
- 25:34Speaker 1: Oh, my God.
- 25:35Speaker 3: Oh, yes. Oh, it's so good. It's so good. Eric Estrada.
- 25:39Speaker 5: Eric Estrada was the truck driver and he had two women.
- 25:43Speaker 5: He had Bebe and he had Laura Leon. And oh
- 25:46Speaker 5: my God, so intense. I think I was like nine.
- 25:49Speaker 1: I was like probably like six or seven watching it.
- 25:52Speaker 1: And my aunt said, does he need to be watching that?
- 25:54Speaker 1: My grandma, no le importa, dejalo.
- 25:55Speaker 3: No, they don't even understand. But very invested. I was
- 25:58Speaker 3: like this.
- 25:59Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 26:02Speaker 3: I would watch it with my dad.
- 26:05Speaker 1: What's something that younger people do today that makes you say, like, oh,
- 26:10Speaker 1: hell no?
- 26:13Speaker 3: The makeup.
- 26:15Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 26:16Speaker 5: Like, I think young girls with a full fucking beat
- 26:20Speaker 5: is wild to me. You know? And it's no offense,
- 26:24Speaker 5: you know, to the ones who do. I just, I've
- 26:27Speaker 5: seen some, like... they're young and they don't know how
- 26:31Speaker 5: to contour yet. So it's like, you see all this like,
- 26:34Speaker 5: and I'm like, girl, you are in seventh grade.
- 26:38Speaker 2: Take you back to our junior high.
- 26:40Speaker 3: I don't remember my home girls. If anything, like we were,
- 26:43Speaker 3: we would do like a lip liner.
- 26:45Speaker 2: They would put it on their hands and smear it
- 26:46Speaker 2: all around their face and do the whole thing.
- 26:49Speaker 3: Where are you from?
- 26:49Speaker 1: Amarillo.
- 26:50Speaker 5: Texas.
- 26:50Speaker 3: Oh, that's why.
- 26:52Speaker 5: Amarillo ain't got nothing better to do over there but
- 26:54Speaker 5: put makeup on.
- 26:55Speaker 1: Oh, man.
- 26:56Speaker 5: No, and I don't remember my homegirls doing full beat. No,
- 27:00Speaker 5: I don't remember. Compact, I do remember, like, my girlfriend's had.
- 27:04Speaker 5: But I'm talking now, like, their nose is contoured.
- 27:07Speaker 3: With the brown.
- 27:08Speaker 1: With the brown.
- 27:09Speaker 4: Right.
- 27:09Speaker 2: And the colors aren't blended.
- 27:11Speaker 3: In sixth and seventh grade, that's the shit that's like... What?
- 27:15Speaker 3: High school.
- 27:16Speaker 5: I mean, when you're in high school, do what you
- 27:17Speaker 5: got to do. But this, I mean, obviously that's, that's
- 27:20Speaker 5: one that's just inevitable.
- 27:21Speaker 3: The phones.
- 27:23Speaker 1: So tell me more about, this is one of the
- 27:25Speaker 1: questions I've been dying to ask because I've always wanted
- 27:28Speaker 1: to go because I grew up watching Selena win every time.
- 27:31Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 27:31Speaker 1: Was it like hosting the Tejano Music Awards?
- 27:33Speaker 3: It was super. I did. Yeah, I did. It was
- 27:36Speaker 3: super fucking cool. I mean, from.
- 27:40Speaker 5: Getting glammed up and, you know, having a, formal dress
- 27:45Speaker 5: and we had rehearsals and and then seeing all the
- 27:50Speaker 5: artists backstage and I think the coolest part of hosting
- 27:55Speaker 5: it was you know obviously they hired us to be
- 27:59Speaker 5: funny and make it there was a script but then
- 28:03Speaker 5: there was little moments that they would let us like
- 28:04Speaker 5: do our piece so we really only had like and
- 28:07Speaker 5: totaled maybe 20 seconds of comedy throughout the two-hour.
- 28:11Speaker 3: Show, just that we could ad-lib.
- 28:13Speaker 5: But in one of the breaks that we were waiting
- 28:16Speaker 5: for the next presenter's, Jay Perez was backstage and he
- 28:20Speaker 5: came up to me and he's like, you are really
- 28:22Speaker 5: funny and your dress is badass, girl. And I was like,
- 28:26Speaker 5: I got this shit at Kohl's. He's like, you're fucking hilarious.
- 28:29Speaker 3: No, I did.
- 28:31Speaker 1: OK.
- 28:31Speaker 3: Yes, I'm funny. But I thought that was cool because
- 28:34Speaker 3: I grew up listening to Jay Perez.
- 28:35Speaker 1: Yeah, absolutely.
- 28:36Speaker 5: Like fucking Jay Perez, dude. That's wearing sunglasses at night, man.
- 28:40Speaker 3: You know what I mean? He's a fucking star, man.
- 28:43Speaker 1: I love that. So you get into the perform in
- 28:45Speaker 1: front of like, uh, you know, audiences like that. What, um,
- 28:49Speaker 1: what's the toughest crowd you've ever had to perform in
- 28:50Speaker 1: front of. Um, white people, they don't understand it. Well,
- 28:57Speaker 1: I have to change.
- 28:58Speaker 5: I have to speak English and, um, when was the
- 29:07Speaker 5: first time I had to do, do that? I went
- 29:10Speaker 5: to an open mic. It was very early on in
- 29:12Speaker 5: my comedy career. And when you go to open mic,
- 29:15Speaker 5: it's called going to the gym. You're going to the gym,
- 29:17Speaker 5: you're working out your material. They gave me five minutes,
- 29:20Speaker 5: which is pretty customary for an open mic night. And
- 29:23Speaker 5: we were in the north side of San Antonio. And
- 29:26Speaker 5: as soon as I walked into the bar and I
- 29:28Speaker 5: saw the demographic, I was all, well, fuck, none of
- 29:30Speaker 5: my jokes are.
- 29:30Speaker 1: Going to work.
- 29:32Speaker 5: You know, they're all what out here. So I was
- 29:37Speaker 5: up there. I started my first one and they're just like,
- 29:41Speaker 5: I tried. And then I.
- 29:43Speaker 3: Was like, how much longer am I up here for?
- 29:46Speaker 2: You did not.
- 29:47Speaker 1: I did.
- 29:48Speaker 2: No fucking way.
- 29:49Speaker 3: I still had three minutes.
- 29:51Speaker 1: The longest three minutes of your life?
- 29:52Speaker 3: The longest three minutes of my life. And I was like,
- 29:55Speaker 3: all right, good night. Fucking out of here. Eject button. Yeah.
- 30:00Speaker 2: Really?
- 30:00Speaker 5: I was like, I'm going to go ahead and give
- 30:02Speaker 5: y'all the three minutes back. Y'all don't fucking give a
- 30:03Speaker 5: shit about me.
- 30:04Speaker 3: Y'all have a good night.
- 30:05Speaker 2: No one threw anything?
- 30:06Speaker 1: Huh?
- 30:06Speaker 2: Anyone ever thrown anything at you?
- 30:08Speaker 5: Nobody's thrown anything out at me, but the thing about
- 30:11Speaker 5: trying to be on stage, she would probably fucking.
- 30:13Speaker 2: Throw something back.
- 30:15Speaker 3: She would square up. I mean, yeah, absolutely. Nobody has.
- 30:21Speaker 5: I think the most disrespectful thing that's happened, and it's
- 30:25Speaker 5: been happening quite a lot recently. is I'm at these
- 30:29Speaker 5: shows alone for the most part. You know what I mean? I,
- 30:32Speaker 5: of course with the comedians and stuff like that, but
- 30:34Speaker 5: family wise, like there's no family. There's no really anybody
- 30:37Speaker 5: there besides bouncers and stuff protecting me. And at the
- 30:39Speaker 5: meet and greets, men can tend to get a little,
- 30:42Speaker 5: become assholes, not even handsy. Just like feel comfortable to
- 30:46Speaker 5: say something they wouldn't say to a man. Example, in Vegas,
- 30:51Speaker 5: this couple comes up And the lady was going to
- 30:54Speaker 5: buy a shirt from me from merch.
- 30:57Speaker 3: And the guy says, what the fuck are you doing?
- 30:58Speaker 3: And she's like, I loved her. I'm going to support her.
- 31:01Speaker 3: I'm going to buy merch. And he goes, look, let's look.
- 31:04Speaker 5: And he's like this, look, you think you're somebody right
- 31:06Speaker 5: now just because you're here, but ain't nobody even know
- 31:09Speaker 5: who you are. And if you want people to get
- 31:11Speaker 5: to know you, you got to be up in the
- 31:12Speaker 5: names with all the big wigs.
- 31:13Speaker 3: And until you get there, I'll respect you.
- 31:16Speaker 2: Shut up. Oh, no. That's pretty shitty. That is. Security.
- 31:21Speaker 5: That's shitty. I looked at him and I said, I
- 31:23Speaker 5: didn't ask for your fucking opinion and get the fuck
- 31:27Speaker 5: out of my meet and greet line. Yeah.
- 31:28Speaker 3: Get the fuck out of my face.
- 31:29Speaker 2: What the fuck is he there?
- 31:31Speaker 1: Yeah. You paid to be here.
- 31:32Speaker 3: And she's like.
- 31:33Speaker 1: Mortified.
- 31:34Speaker 3: Mortified.
- 31:35Speaker 5: And then she bought one of each shirt because she
- 31:37Speaker 5: felt so bad. And then I was like, ma'am, I'm
- 31:40Speaker 5: sorry I spoke to your husband that way. I just
- 31:43Speaker 5: I have to defend myself.
- 31:44Speaker 3: And she's like. we're on our second date. And I
- 31:46Speaker 3: was like, fucking run for the hell. Bye.
- 31:49Speaker 5: Get the fuck out of here with this. If he
- 31:50Speaker 5: can disrespect a fucking stranger, you imagine.
- 31:53Speaker 2: Oh my God.
- 31:54Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 31:54Speaker 5: And so I, I just think it's comical that, um,
- 31:58Speaker 5: you know, men have big balls when it comes to
- 32:00Speaker 5: telling a female, but would you fucking say that to
- 32:02Speaker 5: Joe Coy? Yeah. At his meet and greet, would you do,
- 32:04Speaker 5: I mean, you wouldn't have the balls to say that
- 32:06Speaker 5: to a man. So yeah, that's kind of comes with it,
- 32:10Speaker 5: you know?
- 32:11Speaker 1: Yeah, absolutely. Absolutely. So, well, that goes into, like, how
- 32:14Speaker 1: do you feel now about, like, cancel culture and the
- 32:16Speaker 1: changing of boundaries in comedy?
- 32:20Speaker 3: That's tough. That's really, really tough.
- 32:24Speaker 5: Naturally, I'm not a dark comedic person.
- 32:26Speaker 3: I don't really like dark comedy.
- 32:27Speaker 5: I don't poke fun at certain things because that's just
- 32:30Speaker 5: not my style. Raunchy, yes, I can get very raunchy
- 32:34Speaker 5: at times. It's difficult because especially when I'm posting, like,
- 32:39Speaker 5: my content on social media and I overthink a lot
- 32:43Speaker 5: of scenarios because I don't... If I got canceled the
- 32:47Speaker 5: way a fucking James Charles or Jeffree Star got canceled,
- 32:50Speaker 5: they still have hundreds and thousands and millions of followers.
- 32:54Speaker 3: If I did.
- 32:55Speaker 5: Something so fucked up, it could take a day and
- 32:58Speaker 5: it could all be over. So I have to be very,
- 33:01Speaker 5: very cognizant of what I'm putting out there. And you
- 33:05Speaker 5: watch my stuff. I'm not even risky, even close. But there's,
- 33:09Speaker 5: for example... my friend, I was wearing this like jumper.
- 33:13Speaker 5: He's like, bitch, you're giving Miss Rachel vibes. Miss Rachel
- 33:16Speaker 5: is a children's, like a Barney, like a, she wears overalls,
- 33:22Speaker 5: super cute, huge advocate for the Hispanic culture and trying
- 33:26Speaker 5: to save the children that are captured by ICE, like
- 33:28Speaker 5: all that stuff. I just love everything that she's about.
- 33:31Speaker 5: And he's like, you should do a spoof of Miss Rachel.
- 33:34Speaker 5: And I was like, God, that would be so funny.
- 33:37Speaker 5: So I was like, let me let me look at
- 33:38Speaker 5: some of her videos on YouTube just just to get
- 33:40Speaker 5: some inspiration. Very first video that pops up. She's like,
- 33:43Speaker 5: can you say mama, mama? And my homeboy is like,
- 33:48Speaker 5: mama mellow.
- 33:50Speaker 3: Do you know?
- 33:50Speaker 5: Right.
- 33:52Speaker 3: So, which means. So, your favorite.
- 33:54Speaker 1: That is my favorite.
- 33:58Speaker 5: And we started laughing. And I'm like, could you, and then.
- 34:02Speaker 3: She sings it.
- 34:03Speaker 1: Hold on, wait, what is it?
- 34:03Speaker 2: Because I want to use it again.
- 34:04Speaker 3: Mamamelo.
- 34:05Speaker 2: Mamamelo.
- 34:06Speaker 3: Mamamelo. Mamamela.
- 34:07Speaker 5: Mamamelo.
- 34:07Speaker 2: So, that's the same thing as my favorite?
- 34:09Speaker 3: Yeah, it's about the same. Yeah, like, suck it, suck it,
- 34:13Speaker 3: suck it. Mamamelo. And then she starts singing it. She's like,
- 34:16Speaker 3: let's sing it. Ma, ma, ma, ma, ma, right?
- 34:20Speaker 5: And so, we already came up with the whole thing.
- 34:22Speaker 3: So I go back. This was in Albuquerque. I go
- 34:24Speaker 3: back home.
- 34:25Speaker 5: I started thinking about it some more. And I'm like, oh,
- 34:29Speaker 5: I could get some backlash for making fun of Miss Rachel.
- 34:31Speaker 5: She's doing so much for the community.
- 34:33Speaker 3: She's like, fuck, I don't know.
- 34:35Speaker 5: So that's kind of where my head was. And he's like, hey, girl,
- 34:38Speaker 5: don't forget to film your Rachel thing. I was like, no,
- 34:40Speaker 5: I'm not going to do it. And he's like, why?
- 34:42Speaker 5: I was like, it's not me. I don't need the controversy.
- 34:45Speaker 2: I'm good.
- 34:46Speaker 5: And that's because what if nobody even fucking watches it?
- 34:48Speaker 5: But that's in my head because of cancel culture.
- 34:51Speaker 1: Yeah. Okay.
- 34:54Speaker 3: Dumb. But you're like, that would have been a big hit.
- 34:57Speaker 1: Oh my gosh.
- 34:58Speaker 3: My buddy's like, well, can I take it? I was like, yeah,
- 35:00Speaker 3: fucking take it.
- 35:02Speaker 2: Use my shit.
- 35:03Speaker 3: You go ahead and get the controversy.
- 35:05Speaker 2: I don't care.
- 35:06Speaker 1: So tell me a little bit more about your Cardi
- 35:09Speaker 1: B parody.
- 35:10Speaker 2: Oh, I wanted to ask about that too. Yeah.
- 35:13Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 35:13Speaker 2: I want to know.
- 35:14Speaker 5: So everybody thought I was a rapper at first, but
- 35:17Speaker 5: I'm just an actress. I can play the role.
- 35:21Speaker 3: That was born. I love saying this story.
- 35:22Speaker 5: That one was born as a result of my childhood
- 35:27Speaker 5: friend that I met in middle school. He was dying
- 35:30Speaker 5: from leukemia and I went to go see him at
- 35:33Speaker 5: the hospital. His family was making the calls. He did survive,
- 35:36Speaker 5: by the way. Um, and I, as I was in
- 35:39Speaker 5: his hospital, as I was in his room looking over
- 35:42Speaker 5: him on the hospital bed, I couldn't stop hearing his
- 35:47Speaker 5: voice telling me like every time I would see him,
- 35:50Speaker 5: he's like, but why did you stop? Like, why did
- 35:52Speaker 5: you stop performing? Like, why did you, you're so talented.
- 35:54Speaker 5: You're so this, you're so that. That's all I could
- 35:57Speaker 5: hear in my head is, and I'm just crying, crying, crying.
- 35:59Speaker 5: When I leave, um, Cardi B's I Like It comes
- 36:02Speaker 5: out on the radio. And for whatever reason, I was like,
- 36:05Speaker 5: I like a my fat. I like my fat. And
- 36:09Speaker 5: I was like, oh shit. My brother is a producer.
- 36:13Speaker 5: So he does. He's got a studio. He's have all
- 36:14Speaker 5: that stuff. My niece is very quick and witty on
- 36:17Speaker 5: her feet. I called them real quick and I was like,
- 36:20Speaker 5: are you guys available right now?
- 36:21Speaker 3: And they're like, yeah. Okay.
- 36:23Speaker 5: Can we, Abraham, can we go to your house? My brother,
- 36:24Speaker 5: I have an idea for like a fucking parody. I
- 36:27Speaker 5: think we can knock it out right now. We did
- 36:28Speaker 5: it in 10 minutes.
- 36:30Speaker 1: I love it.
- 36:31Speaker 5: And then filmed it on his iPhone a week later,
- 36:33Speaker 5: got all the components together. And that's the one that,
- 36:36Speaker 5: and I dedicated it to my friend PD. You'll see
- 36:39Speaker 5: it at the end of the YouTube video. His family's
- 36:41Speaker 5: walking with me. I invited them to come to the
- 36:43Speaker 5: shoot and they'd been at the hospital for weeks.
- 36:46Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 36:46Speaker 5: And so they're like, thank you. There's like the most
- 36:49Speaker 5: fun we've had in weeks, you know? So because of that,
- 36:54Speaker 5: I think that, because it had such a good origin story.
- 36:58Speaker 3: And I think that's why I did so well.
- 36:59Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 37:00Speaker 3: Because God is good that way, you know?
- 37:01Speaker 2: I love that.
- 37:02Speaker 1: And I was also telling Cody too, I was reading
- 37:04Speaker 1: when I was doing more research, you also became viral
- 37:07Speaker 1: before becoming viral.
- 37:08Speaker 2: It was 2010, right?
- 37:09Speaker 5: Right.
- 37:10Speaker 3: Was it the, um, was it the California girls?
- 37:14Speaker 1: Yes.
- 37:15Speaker 3: Yes.
- 37:15Speaker 1: Cause I was like, you became viral before becoming viral.
- 37:18Speaker 6: Right.
- 37:19Speaker 5: Right. That was like the first official. I 2018 was
- 37:21Speaker 5: where it all started. So I was actually at home
- 37:25Speaker 5: resting from, and this is exactly why I called my niece.
- 37:29Speaker 5: Cause she's the one who recorded that video. Um, I
- 37:32Speaker 5: was at home resting from a leap procedure that I
- 37:35Speaker 5: had had, OBGYN shit.
- 37:37Speaker 2: I got you.
- 37:37Speaker 3: I know.
- 37:39Speaker 5: And she was there with me, helping me recover, helping
- 37:43Speaker 5: me with my newborn at the time. And we were
- 37:47Speaker 5: just playing around and- California girls was a thing. And
- 37:51Speaker 5: so we called it San Antonio girls and rewrote it.
- 37:54Speaker 5: And it's so low budget video, but I think it
- 37:58Speaker 5: got a whole bunch of hits.
- 37:59Speaker 3: I was like, Oh shit.
- 38:00Speaker 5: Yeah. Yeah.
- 38:01Speaker 1: I love that.
- 38:02Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 38:02Speaker 2: It's crazy.
- 38:04Speaker 1: Um, other than coming to the show, you are in
- 38:06Speaker 1: town for your hot flashing comedy tour or hot flashing
- 38:09Speaker 1: furious comedy tour.
- 38:10Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 38:10Speaker 1: So tell us more about the tour and how the
- 38:11Speaker 1: tour started and all the good things.
- 38:13Speaker 3: Yeah, no, I, um, and how long is this going?
- 38:16Speaker 5: So the last stop is going to be in Chandler,
- 38:20Speaker 5: Arizona in November. And then I'm hopping on some of
- 38:24Speaker 5: the other guys shows that are in the same management
- 38:26Speaker 5: company that I'm with. But it's been incredible. I mean,
- 38:32Speaker 5: I can't even tell you how many cities I've gone
- 38:34Speaker 5: to this year. Probably the biggest tour I've had in
- 38:37Speaker 5: my comedy career to date. Thanks to my management company
- 38:41Speaker 5: that they put it all together. You spoke to Marty
- 38:45Speaker 5: and Wendy.
- 38:46Speaker 1: Easiest, nicest people to ever chat with.
- 38:49Speaker 5: Smoothest.
- 38:50Speaker 1: I've chatted with some people.
- 38:54Speaker 5: They're phenomenal. I'm so blessed to have them. They just
- 38:57Speaker 5: kept me busy and they advocate for me. Marty talks
- 39:01Speaker 5: about me in rooms that you got to look at
- 39:03Speaker 5: my girl and give my girl a chance. He's just
- 39:07Speaker 5: my biggest supporter. It started in Covina, California at the
- 39:12Speaker 5: Laugh Factory. I think it was like six shows. And
- 39:16Speaker 5: I was so nervous. That was this year. Yeah, yeah,
- 39:18Speaker 5: that was this year, 2026 in January. I think I
- 39:19Speaker 5: remember watching a video about it. No, there was one
- 39:21Speaker 5: in Seattle. It was a Seattle show. I watched the
- 39:23Speaker 5: video for that one, yeah.
- 39:24Speaker 3: That was when the summer leg of the tour kicked off.
- 39:27Speaker 3: That was rough.
- 39:30Speaker 5: And I think because I put a lot of pressure
- 39:32Speaker 5: on myself because I have a lot of respect for
- 39:35Speaker 5: my manager. He's doing amazing things for the talent in
- 39:39Speaker 5: his management company. And I admire the guy's for what
- 39:44Speaker 5: they've been doing already themselves. And then all as a
- 39:48Speaker 5: unit under LRM. I mean, it's just such a movement.
- 39:51Speaker 5: And this is, I'm talking about Concrete Duno and Jerry Garcia.
- 39:55Speaker 5: And so he's mostly with them for the most part.
- 39:58Speaker 5: But this summer part of the tour, he wanted to
- 40:02Speaker 5: travel with me to my shows that sold two tickets.
- 40:06Speaker 5: And I'm like, he's going to fucking drop me. Like
- 40:08Speaker 5: I thought he's going to be like, I'm wasting all
- 40:10Speaker 5: this money. And he called me the day before. He's like,
- 40:14Speaker 5: what do you want to do, sis? Do you want
- 40:16Speaker 5: to throw in the towel? Do you want to? And
- 40:19Speaker 5: I was like, no, I'm not going to be a
- 40:22Speaker 5: little bitch, man. Let's just fucking go. He's like, cause
- 40:24Speaker 5: it's your money, kid. Whatever you want to do at
- 40:26Speaker 5: the end of the day, it's your money. And I
- 40:27Speaker 5: was like, no, let's go. I'm going to keep pushing.
- 40:30Speaker 5: I'm going to keep pushing. Even if we get 40
- 40:32Speaker 5: people and he's like, okay, let's do it. And he
- 40:35Speaker 5: was so like, because he's been doing it for so
- 40:38Speaker 5: long already. He was like, that like revived me again,
- 40:41Speaker 5: because that was the, it's the growth part. I'm, we're
- 40:44Speaker 5: at a different stage with the guys. It's, it's nice
- 40:46Speaker 5: to be a part of the, the one, the building,
- 40:49Speaker 5: you know? And so we, we ended up setting out
- 40:52Speaker 5: to do what we said we wanted to do. We
- 40:53Speaker 5: broke even and that's, we, we got our flight money back,
- 40:56Speaker 5: our hotel money back. We got all, and we were,
- 40:58Speaker 5: we were happy.
- 40:59Speaker 2: I love that.
- 41:00Speaker 3: That's awesome.
- 41:01Speaker 1: And for those of you guys that are in the
- 41:03Speaker 1: Dallas-Fort Worth area, tonight and tomorrow, she's going to be
- 41:06Speaker 1: at Hyena's Comedy Club.
- 41:07Speaker 5: Yep.
- 41:07Speaker 3: In Fort Worth.
- 41:08Speaker 1: In Fort Worth. And we will be there tonight.
- 41:10Speaker 2: Cannot fucking wait.
- 41:11Speaker 1: I'm excited.
- 41:11Speaker 2: Cannot fucking wait.
- 41:12Speaker 5: It's going to be a blast. You'll get to see
- 41:15Speaker 5: Doña Chona. She has arrived via FedEx because I fucking
- 41:21Speaker 5: left her in Albuquerque.
- 41:22Speaker 2: Amazon Prime kind of thing?
- 41:23Speaker 1: No. She left her in Albuquerque.
- 41:24Speaker 5: I left her in Albuquerque and just realized yesterday when
- 41:28Speaker 5: I was packing.
- 41:29Speaker 4: Oh, really?
- 41:29Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 41:31Speaker 1: So I've got a comedy question. Who is your dream
- 41:34Speaker 1: comedy collaboration?
- 41:36Speaker 3: Oh my gosh.
- 41:37Speaker 2: Okay.
- 41:37Speaker 5: You mentioned Leanne Morgan earlier, but for me, I would love,
- 41:42Speaker 5: I would love, love, love, love, love, because I feel
- 41:44Speaker 5: like we're similar.
- 41:45Speaker 3: I'm the Hispanic version. Steph Tulliv.
- 41:49Speaker 2: Okay.
- 41:50Speaker 3: I think I've seen some. She's got kind of like
- 41:51Speaker 3: a mullet looking hair. She's very aggressive. And trailer trash, Tammy.
- 41:59Speaker 2: Oh my God, dude. I feel like.
- 42:02Speaker 3: Right there. Yes, I'm sold.
- 42:04Speaker 2: I'm fucking sold.
- 42:05Speaker 5: And Tammy, if you're fucking watching this, call me. We
- 42:09Speaker 5: can talk about all the things. And I think we
- 42:12Speaker 5: would have a fucking blast. And I could teach you
- 42:14Speaker 5: Spanish words. that would be hilarious we've got to reach out.
- 42:18Speaker 3: Yeah yeah just put us in a fucking.
- 42:21Speaker 5: Room yeah dude let's have a drink together like farts
- 42:25Speaker 5: and burps and cigarettes maybe hey I'm down to have
- 42:29Speaker 5: a few I might have a cigar I might have
- 42:31Speaker 5: a couple.
- 42:32Speaker 2: Puffs if you will I'll hate tomorrow but.
- 42:34Speaker 5: It's fine put a fucking vodka in front of me
- 42:36Speaker 5: bitch start smoking real quick I'm not even gonna lie.
- 42:37Speaker 2: To you give me a whiskey and a cigar and
- 42:39Speaker 2: I'll be the coolest.
- 42:40Speaker 6: Motherfucker there yeah yeah so What's next for you and,
- 42:48Speaker 6: you know, a special television, movies, comedy, I mean, something different?
- 42:54Speaker 1: I'm going to honestly tell you, I think I see, like,
- 42:56Speaker 1: me personally, and I'm putting it out, if it's something
- 42:58Speaker 1: you want to do, but I'm putting it out there
- 42:59Speaker 1: in the atmosphere. I think you should do television with
- 43:01Speaker 1: your characters and do a show. Like, I think that
- 43:03Speaker 1: would be a great thing for you.
- 43:04Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 43:05Speaker 5: You know?
- 43:05Speaker 3: No, I think that's beautiful. Thank you for manifesting.
- 43:09Speaker 2: That for me.
- 43:10Speaker 1: If you need a guest appearance, hi.
- 43:12Speaker 3: Yeah, right, right.
- 43:13Speaker 2: No, absolutely.
- 43:14Speaker 5: If I need a Sean Hayes, how you doing? There
- 43:16Speaker 5: she is. That's definitely something that Marty and I have
- 43:21Speaker 5: talked about. And I say Marty, I mean my manager.
- 43:25Speaker 5: We've talked about it plenty of times.
- 43:28Speaker 3: He... sees so much potential with Doña Chona.
- 43:31Speaker 2: Absolutely.
- 43:32Speaker 5: Now, there's old lady characters everywhere. People have done it.
- 43:36Speaker 5: It's not that I'm new to this or whatever.
- 43:39Speaker 3: It's just he sees a brand here with her, a
- 43:43Speaker 3: whole brand.
- 43:44Speaker 1: And there's nobody out there like her.
- 43:45Speaker 5: Not like her. You know, there's a Puerto Rican version
- 43:49Speaker 5: of her. There's all these other versions of her. But this, like, Tex-Mex...
- 43:55Speaker 5: I don't think anybody's doing that. And if they are,
- 43:57Speaker 5: please help me and I'll stand, I'll be, I'll stand corrected. But, um, yeah, we,
- 44:02Speaker 5: we see a lot. Um, we do have, uh, producers
- 44:06Speaker 5: and directors watching. Thanks to my manager. He's like I said,
- 44:10Speaker 5: he sits in rooms. He's like, you gotta, you gotta watch. Um,
- 44:14Speaker 5: I received my first cease and desist from a corporation.
- 44:17Speaker 5: So that's great. They're watching too.
- 44:19Speaker 2: You're coming up.
- 44:20Speaker 3: I love it.
- 44:21Speaker 5: I kind of wish they would have done it in
- 44:22Speaker 5: fucking public though. Cause that would have been great for
- 44:25Speaker 5: my career.
- 44:25Speaker 1: You know what I mean?
- 44:26Speaker 3: Like not cancel culture.
- 44:27Speaker 5: They would have gotten canceled, which is why I think
- 44:29Speaker 5: they did it in private.
- 44:31Speaker 3: Motherfuckers.
- 44:32Speaker 2: Man, that's fucking gold though.
- 44:33Speaker 3: No, it's great. It's great. It's so good.
- 44:37Speaker 5: So yeah, that, but yes, um, Film, it's definitely around
- 44:41Speaker 5: the corner. It's definitely something I feel like. I feel
- 44:43Speaker 5: great things just coming for you.
- 44:44Speaker 2: Yeah, me too.
- 44:45Speaker 1: Especially with your vibe.
- 44:46Speaker 3: Thank you.
- 44:47Speaker 1: And what you're doing. And you're representing our community. And
- 44:50Speaker 1: I love it.
- 44:51Speaker 3: That's so nice.
- 44:51Speaker 2: Seems like a good time. I'm going to sit in
- 44:52Speaker 2: the dark back corner where you can't see me at
- 44:54Speaker 2: the show.
- 44:54Speaker 5: Yeah, because I'm going to tell him. Trying to easily
- 44:56Speaker 5: leave the fuck alone. I'm going to tell him.
- 44:58Speaker 1: Chupa mi verga.
- 44:59Speaker 5: Mamala.
- 44:59Speaker 2: Mamala. I'm going to be that guy standing on the
- 45:01Speaker 2: table whipping it out.
- 45:02Speaker 3: Oh, my God. Go ahead and sit your ass in
- 45:04Speaker 3: the back.
- 45:05Speaker 2: Vulgar my ass.
- 45:06Speaker 1: No more whiskey.
- 45:07Speaker 3: He's one of those guys. Calm down, deal.
- 45:12Speaker 2: Relax.
- 45:13Speaker 3: No tequila. Oh, same. I can't, no.
- 45:15Speaker 2: I either want to fight or fuck and it's usually
- 45:17Speaker 2: not the good one.
- 45:17Speaker 3: Bro, me too.
- 45:18Speaker 2: Man, I'm not kidding.
- 45:19Speaker 3: Wait, no, not the fucking part.
- 45:22Speaker 2: I fuck like, man, I'm good, but usually I want
- 45:24Speaker 2: to fight.
- 45:25Speaker 3: Your mother's here.
- 45:26Speaker 5: Hi, mom.
- 45:28Speaker 3: Mom, that's how you got me here.
- 45:29Speaker 2: So our moms are sitting right back there. Our moms
- 45:32Speaker 2: are here. Bring mom to work.
- 45:33Speaker 3: That's what Chona does.
- 45:34Speaker 5: This is probably the first time they've requested to come
- 45:37Speaker 5: into the studio.
- 45:38Speaker 3: You gotta come see this, Senora. No joke, yeah, first time.
- 45:40Speaker 3: What she's all about.
- 45:41Speaker 1: We waited for a special guest.
- 45:42Speaker 2: Hey, but she made it. She knows what, it's good
- 45:44Speaker 2: to show.
- 45:44Speaker 3: You see what I'm saying? I, too, am a tequila fighter.
- 45:49Speaker 2: Are you? Oh, man, I can't wait to drink tequila
- 45:52Speaker 2: with you.
- 45:52Speaker 3: No, I don't want anything to do with it. My guy.
- 45:55Speaker 2: Let me call my manager. I'm actually the same way.
- 45:57Speaker 2: I'm actually the same way.
- 45:58Speaker 3: She's grown up. I won't touch you.
- 46:00Speaker 2: Not even in a margarita. I won't touch you.
- 46:01Speaker 1: No.
- 46:02Speaker 3: I could do a margarita. I could do one. The
- 46:04Speaker 3: guys love Casamigos.
- 46:06Speaker 5: So when I'm at their shows, they do shots of Casamigos.
- 46:09Speaker 5: And I'm like, hey, if y'all fucking want me at
- 46:11Speaker 5: the meet and greet, I'll be pounding bitches.
- 46:13Speaker 3: Like, I'm just letting you know.
- 46:14Speaker 2: Milagro is mine or Patron, but. Whiskey.
- 46:17Speaker 3: Whiskey's yours. Mine is Tito's.
- 46:20Speaker 2: Is it?
- 46:20Speaker 3: I'm a vodka girl.
- 46:21Speaker 1: He's a vodka water.
- 46:22Speaker 3: What about you? What do you drink?
- 46:24Speaker 2: Vodka water.
- 46:24Speaker 1: I have vodka water, but you know, I mean, if
- 46:26Speaker 1: I do tequila, it's going to be Jenny Rivera tequila. So.
- 46:29Speaker 5: Stop.
- 46:30Speaker 2: All the way.
- 46:30Speaker 3: Oh, Jenny Rivera. So people have been saying on the
- 46:33Speaker 3: Laura Leon stuff. Oh shit. She looks like Jenny Rivera.
- 46:37Speaker 3: So I'm thinking I may do a little spoof.
- 46:39Speaker 5: Yes.
- 46:39Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 46:40Speaker 2: But even better, and one past that.
- 46:42Speaker 5: I like to say when I'm flirting with my husband.
- 46:46Speaker 2: I say.
- 46:56Speaker 3: My best friend used to say that.
- 47:14Speaker 2: Our go-to shot is Rumpel.
- 47:16Speaker 3: A what?
- 47:16Speaker 1: 100 proof.
- 47:17Speaker 3: What's a Rumpel?
- 47:18Speaker 2: It's the devil's semen. Peppermint schnapps almost, but it's 100 proof.
- 47:23Speaker 1: Oh, it's the devil.
- 47:25Speaker 3: That's what you like to do?
- 47:26Speaker 2: That's what I like to do.
- 47:27Speaker 3: Stay clear from me, sir.
- 47:29Speaker 2: Shit.
- 47:30Speaker 3: Don't invite me to your fucking party. I don't want
- 47:32Speaker 3: to go.
- 47:32Speaker 1: I'm busy already.
- 47:35Speaker 3: He's like, come on, Jordan. We got fucking gasoline up
- 47:38Speaker 3: in this van. Light it on fire. Merry Christmas.
- 47:40Speaker 2: It's like Santa Claus coming in your mouth.
- 47:43Speaker 3: Fuck no, dude.
- 47:44Speaker 1: I'm out.
- 47:46Speaker 3: Switch spots. Why the fuck you put me on this couch?
- 47:51Speaker 1: So in true unspoken truth form, we always play a game. Yes.
- 47:56Speaker 1: And so this game is, it's called the hot seat
- 47:59Speaker 1: rapid fire. Oh, it's just some fun questions to ask you.
- 48:01Speaker 1: Just give your answer.
- 48:02Speaker 2: I started sweating.
- 48:03Speaker 3: I think I'm having a hot flash.
- 48:04Speaker 1: Hot flash and furious.
- 48:05Speaker 3: Oh, fuck.
- 48:06Speaker 1: Go, go. Who's funnier, you or your husband?
- 48:09Speaker 3: Oh, he is.
- 48:10Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 48:11Speaker 3: At his expense.
- 48:14Speaker 4: What's your biggest pet peeve? 5, 4.
- 48:24Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 48:26Speaker 1: What's the most senora thing in your purse right now?
- 48:28Speaker 2: Oh, fuck.
- 48:30Speaker 3: A panty liner.
- 48:33Speaker 1: What's something that you secretly judge people for?
- 48:35Speaker 3: I don't know. I don't know if I want to
- 48:43Speaker 3: say it.
- 48:43Speaker 1: Say it.
- 48:44Speaker 3: Say it.
- 48:44Speaker 1: This is unspoken truth.
- 48:46Speaker 2: Say it.
- 48:46Speaker 5: Oh, yeah.
- 48:47Speaker 3: Yeah, I guess they're past.
- 48:48Speaker 1: Okay.
- 48:49Speaker 3: Yeah, sure. They're past. Yeah, they're past.
- 48:51Speaker 2: That was cheating.
- 48:52Speaker 3: Yeah, you gave it to me, so I just said yes.
- 48:55Speaker 1: Have you ever laughed at your own joke on stage?
- 48:58Speaker 3: Yes. Like, it took me a second to recover. Because
- 49:04Speaker 3: it's when it comes out and it wasn't planned. So
- 49:07Speaker 3: I was like, oh, fuck, I'm so good.
- 49:12Speaker 2: I don't care if y'all laugh.
- 49:15Speaker 5: And then there's a lot of comedians that the whole
- 49:16Speaker 5: time they're laughing at their jokes.
- 49:18Speaker 3: I'm like, pipe it down, guys. Give us a chance.
- 49:20Speaker 3: to fucking laugh. I don't do that.
- 49:23Speaker 1: What's the most embarrassing thing that's happened on stage?
- 49:27Speaker 3: I broke my foot and fell.
- 49:28Speaker 6: Oh.
- 49:29Speaker 3: During a bit. Yeah.
- 49:31Speaker 5: And when I looked up at the clock, I still
- 49:33Speaker 5: had 15 minutes left of my set.
- 49:35Speaker 2: And you did it?
- 49:35Speaker 5: And I got up and finished and not realizing my
- 49:37Speaker 5: foot was broken yet.
- 49:38Speaker 1: Oh, shit. If Chonai could roast anyone in the world,
- 49:43Speaker 1: who would it be?
- 49:44Speaker 5: Oh.
- 49:46Speaker 1: Famous? Yes.
- 49:49Speaker 5: Oh, I'd like to take a little stab at Atsuko
- 49:51Speaker 5: Okasako's little mushroom haircut.
- 49:54Speaker 6: He's like, just do this, please.
- 50:02Speaker 2: The blob, what is it?
- 50:03Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 50:05Speaker 5: It's so good. I mean, she looks like she's straight
- 50:07Speaker 5: out of fucking Mario Brothers, my guy.
- 50:08Speaker 2: You know what I mean?
- 50:10Speaker 5: Yes. All right.
- 50:11Speaker 1: So finish this sentence. The unspoken truth about Joanna Estrada is.
- 50:20Speaker 5: The unspoken, the unspoken truth about Joanna Estrada is that she,
- 50:25Speaker 5: if she doesn't have to speak, she won't.
- 50:27Speaker 3: And she's very boring outside of all this.
- 50:29Speaker 1: Okay.
- 50:29Speaker 3: That's the unspoken truth.
- 50:31Speaker 2: Surprising.
- 50:32Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 50:32Speaker 3: I literally.
- 50:33Speaker 2: Surprising.
- 50:34Speaker 3: I cannot wait to go to the hotel room and
- 50:35Speaker 3: just not talk.
- 50:36Speaker 2: Just shut up.
- 50:36Speaker 5: Yeah. Yeah.
- 50:37Speaker 1: Okay.
- 50:37Speaker 3: All right. Last question.
- 50:39Speaker 2: You know what's crazy? Real quick.
- 50:40Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 50:40Speaker 2: On that.
- 50:41Speaker 4: You know, I don't talk too much anyways, but in
- 50:44Speaker 4: my truck, I don't listen to music. Kind of like
- 50:45Speaker 4: serial killer stuff. I'm silent the whole fucking time.
- 50:49Speaker 3: I'm in that era right now, my guy. Did we
- 50:50Speaker 3: just become best friends?
- 50:51Speaker 2: Did we? Can we?
- 50:53Speaker 1: I'm in a concert with myself and my backup singer.
- 50:55Speaker 3: Yeah, he will. You're on a whole world tour, baby.
- 50:58Speaker 2: We're roommates right now and there's not a time music
- 51:00Speaker 2: is not on.
- 51:01Speaker 3: Let him have it. I do. I would love to.
- 51:04Speaker 1: I can do that.
- 51:04Speaker 3: I can do both.
- 51:05Speaker 2: Like kids, I tune it out, so I'm fine.
- 51:07Speaker 5: Yeah, that makes sense. That makes a lot of sense.
- 51:10Speaker 5: Today on the way to the airport, I was fucking
- 51:12Speaker 5: jamming out to freestyle. I don't know what the hell happened,
- 51:14Speaker 5: but I was like Lisa Lisa, fucking Stevie P, John Sencala.
- 51:19Speaker 2: Oh my gosh.
- 51:20Speaker 3: Oh, I was in love.
- 51:23Speaker 1: So before we wrap up things, I want to ask
- 51:25Speaker 1: you one final question. When you look back at everything
- 51:28Speaker 1: you've been through from growing up in San Antonio, becoming
- 51:31Speaker 1: Chonai and performing in front of audiences across the country,
- 51:35Speaker 1: what would you tell that younger version of yourself who
- 51:38Speaker 1: was still trying to figure out where she belonged?
- 51:42Speaker 5: That one really tugs at the heartstrings because I was
- 51:45Speaker 5: literally just, I'm sorry, getting a little choked up. I
- 51:48Speaker 5: was just talking to my.
- 51:49Speaker 3: Daughter about it. I would tell her, You will be seen.
- 52:04Speaker 3: You will be seen. And people will love you.
- 52:07Speaker 1: Yes. I love that.
- 52:09Speaker 2: Be brave sooner.
- 52:10Speaker 3: Be brave sooner. You will be seen.
- 52:14Speaker 1: Yes, I love that.
- 52:15Speaker 2: That actually gave me chills.
- 52:17Speaker 3: It did.
- 52:17Speaker 2: It actually gave me chills.
- 52:19Speaker 1: Well, thank you so much for coming. It has been
- 52:21Speaker 1: such a pleasure. And I'm so glad we got to
- 52:22Speaker 1: do this. Thank you for coming and hanging out with us.

- 52:30Speaker 1: and listening, make sure you follow her.
- 52:32Speaker 2: Dude, go see the show.

- 52:49Speaker 3: We've had so much fun. I love it. Thank you guys.
- 52:54Speaker 5: I can't wait to party with you tonight.
- 52:59Speaker 2: Don't talk about my vet guy.
- 53:00Speaker 1: Don't worry about it.
- 53:02Speaker 3: I talk about my husband's enough.
- 53:04Speaker 2: Bill, I won't do it.
- 53:06Speaker 1: And as always, thank you for joining us on the
- 53:08Speaker 1: unspoken truth where we have the conversations that deserve to
