- 0:26Speaker 1: It is time to believe your worries outside and laugh
- 0:29Speaker 1: with us inside the treehouse. I'm Dan ol Malley, along
- 0:33Speaker 1: with Trey Trentholme and Raj Sharma. Thank you for joining
- 0:36Speaker 1: us today. We start with some tragic news. A mountaineer
- 0:45Speaker 1: died in a six hundred and fifty foot fall while
- 0:48Speaker 1: trying to take selfies on a snowy mountaintop.
- 0:54Speaker 2: Take it away, tray, No.
- 0:57Speaker 3: Sorry, Bubba, no no, oh, this is close to home
- 1:02Speaker 3: for you.
- 1:03Speaker 1: Oh no. A thirty one year old A thirty one
- 1:06Speaker 1: year old man was part of a hiking group at
- 1:09Speaker 1: Mount Nama when he slipped nari crevass after reportedly undoing
- 1:13Speaker 1: his safety rope to take selfies. He tragically plunged to
- 1:19Speaker 1: his death whilst attempting to capture a selfie during a trek.
- 1:23Speaker 2: Up the mountain.
- 1:24Speaker 1: This happened at Mount Nama in Sichuan Province in China.
- 1:29Speaker 1: According to reports, the man known only as mister Hong
- 1:34Speaker 1: lost his footing near a crevass after allegedly removing his
- 1:37Speaker 1: safety rope to snap photographs on the snowy summit on
- 1:39Speaker 1: September twenty fifth. So very very sad news, mister Hong
- 1:46Speaker 1: met with tragedy while just trying to capture the moment
- 1:51Speaker 1: that he was at the peak of a mountain and
- 1:55Speaker 1: his life so sad. Also, we have video. No, this
- 2:04Speaker 1: is awful, This is really terrible, and we should all
- 2:08Speaker 1: be ashamed, but we're going to watch this anyway. Shut
- 2:12Speaker 1: your mouth. There he is top of the mountain. Whoa
- 2:29Speaker 1: like I said, we should all be ashamed, and the
- 2:34Speaker 1: people on that mountain should be ashamed because they did.
- 2:37Speaker 3: Nothing because they know not to undo with their safety rope.
- 2:44Speaker 1: I'm just gonna stand here on top of this mountain
- 2:46Speaker 1: attached to all my friends. Hey, look at that guy.
- 2:48Speaker 1: Oh he looks that. That looks bad. Hmmm, Raj you
- 2:56Speaker 1: can you can yet. You can bet your microphone all
- 3:01Speaker 1: you want, but we can see you're laughing at this tragedy.
- 3:04Speaker 1: This man died.
- 3:07Speaker 3: There's actually another angle of this where the guy is
- 3:10Speaker 3: even closer and he just it's like just watching the
- 3:14Speaker 3: guy slide down and there's nothing you can do at
- 3:16Speaker 3: that point. I mean, you're you know, they're doing it
- 3:20Speaker 3: for the hype, not for the gram.
- 3:24Speaker 2: All I would yell like tuck be small. I don't
- 3:33Speaker 2: to yell. But there's a different angle I gotta see that.
- 3:37Speaker 1: I didn't see that angle. I don't know, but I
- 3:40Speaker 1: do have this angle.
- 3:41Speaker 2: Okay, I'm gonna show remorse. Sorry.
- 3:45Speaker 1: Oh this guy in the orange at the front, I
- 3:53Speaker 1: mean he doesn't move, He just he looks like he's
- 3:56Speaker 1: just watching anything like, Oh, there he goes that guy.
- 4:08Speaker 2: You owe twenty two fifteen. Did she just say? Okay?
- 4:18Speaker 1: No, that guy owed me ten bucks? Gave him a
- 4:23Speaker 1: power bar at Base Camp.
- 4:28Speaker 2: Ilitest thing i've seen in ages. Oh wait, uh Dan,
- 4:32Speaker 2: check your email?
- 4:35Speaker 4: Oh no, is it from his phone before the service
- 4:41Speaker 4: goes out? Fucking Verizon can't get.
- 4:51Speaker 1: Into work anywhere. Yes, if we're being honest, if you
- 4:57Speaker 1: can't get your phone service to work on top of
- 5:00Speaker 1: a frickin mountain, then we need more towers. Okay, here
- 5:05Speaker 1: is now the view from a different angle.
- 5:08Speaker 4: No, why would you do this to me? I'm muting
- 5:13Speaker 4: so you can't see, you can't hear me.
- 5:15Speaker 1: You unmute. If you're gonna watch this man die, we're going.
- 5:19Speaker 1: The least you can do is give him your honest reaction.
- 5:26Speaker 5: Hmmm mm hmmm mm hmmm. I think it's this one.
- 5:30Speaker 5: And yeah, that's that one.
- 5:38Speaker 4: I know where this is going down off the cliff.
- 5:44Speaker 4: Who's recording this one?
- 5:47Speaker 2: The guide was like another one? I think, what's another one?
- 5:53Speaker 3: Bites the dust or some Tom Petty.
- 6:03Speaker 1: No last chance with Mary Jane.
- 6:06Speaker 2: Higher by Creed. All right here, okay, here we go.
- 6:19Speaker 1: Oh he tried standing up. I didn't notice that before,
- 6:25Speaker 1: wouldn't you. I would have tried harder.
- 6:33Speaker 2: Oh this is.
- 6:36Speaker 1: Yeah, he went. He slid down over there that way. Yeah,
- 6:41Speaker 1: he went that way. It was really tragic and sad.
- 6:45Speaker 2: You know, we need parachutes.
- 6:49Speaker 1: Thank you, Thank you for stating something that I think
- 6:52Speaker 1: needs to be said about mountaineering. I'm not going to
- 6:54Speaker 1: do it without a parachute. I want a major backup.
- 7:01Speaker 4: Hm.
- 7:03Speaker 1: That was it. I mean it was a closer angle.
- 7:07Speaker 1: I'm guessing they cut it off right as he flew off.
- 7:10Speaker 2: The did you catch yourself? See that's what happens to me,
- 7:15Speaker 2: my brain.
- 7:15Speaker 1: Out of respect for right right right, as right right?
- 7:20Speaker 1: Does he hit right? Does he hit his wily coyote?
- 7:23Speaker 2: Moment help? His guide was like make me and just
- 7:33Speaker 2: kept going.
- 7:35Speaker 1: This is the point, this is the point, at our
- 7:38Speaker 1: total lack of disrespect for the dead, that I would
- 7:41Speaker 1: like to point out that he died because he unhooked
- 7:49Speaker 1: his safety harness and was taking selfies. This was his fault.
- 7:55Speaker 1: I'm I'm not trying to victim blame. Let me take
- 7:59Speaker 1: that back. I'm not trying to victim shame. I'm very
- 8:02Speaker 1: much victim blaming. This was his fault.
- 8:04Speaker 2: Uh h.
- 8:05Speaker 1: But there's a reason why there's the safety harness and
- 8:09Speaker 1: you don't unhook from it when you're on top of
- 8:11Speaker 1: a freaking mountain in China.
- 8:13Speaker 2: Listen, he went viral. He went he went off a cliff.
- 8:19Speaker 4: First, what if he's not dead? What if he just
- 8:26Speaker 4: shows up at base camp like you motherfuckers.
- 8:34Speaker 2: Who unclipped me?
- 8:38Speaker 1: He holds it up and just been cut?
- 8:43Speaker 2: Did you Cara with a little bit of rope? I was?
- 8:48Speaker 4: I wanted one selfie, you motherfuckers. One selfie?
- 8:52Speaker 1: And you're right. He comes back to base camp bruised
- 8:54Speaker 1: and tattered and bloody, olymping, probably because he's probably got
- 8:58Speaker 1: a broken leg, and his one question for everybody at
- 9:01Speaker 1: base camp is what, Trey, did you find my phone? Any? Uh?
- 9:10Speaker 1: Do you see my phone? I think I got a
- 9:12Speaker 1: pretty good photo. I know how the internet likes their
- 9:19Speaker 1: updates to these viral stories.
- 9:22Speaker 4: Are you in my fucking tent. We haven't even confirmed
- 9:26Speaker 4: my death yet.
- 9:29Speaker 1: Oh God, so long mister hung Yeah, well, I mean.
- 9:38Speaker 4: Sliding off the cliff and then how far was the
- 9:41Speaker 4: do we know how far the drop was? Like?
- 9:43Speaker 2: How far did he fall?
- 9:45Speaker 1: Yeah? About six hundred and fifty feet down the mountain
- 9:47Speaker 1: side whilst his fellow hikers looked on in horror. That's
- 9:50Speaker 1: according to the Daily Star story.
- 9:53Speaker 4: Okay, so I mean can you you you could survive that, right?
- 10:02Speaker 1: I mean I guess it depends on what you hit.
- 10:08Speaker 1: I mean the downside is he fell off a mountain
- 10:10Speaker 1: and at the bottom of mountain is more mountains because
- 10:16Speaker 1: this was this peak is five eighty eight meters. Oh
- 10:24Speaker 1: so I mean not exactly a boulder.
- 10:28Speaker 2: And not really I mean, that's not that tall of
- 10:29Speaker 2: a mountain. But uh.
- 10:33Speaker 4: But yeah, did he at least hit post like when
- 10:36Speaker 4: he took the picture? Like what he did it?
- 10:39Speaker 2: Say to the cloud.
- 10:41Speaker 1: It should be easy. He's right there next to them.
- 10:48Speaker 2: He is the cloud now.
- 10:53Speaker 4: The ethereal mountaineer. They I mean, they seem Chinese concerned.
- 10:59Speaker 4: I don't know if you've been to Asia at all,
- 11:02Speaker 4: Like when anything tragic happens, like no, and nobody moves.
- 11:05Speaker 2: They just do that.
- 11:06Speaker 1: Oh, I mean no, that's that's exactly what happened in
- 11:09Speaker 1: this video. Let's watch it again for the Chinese reaction.
- 11:12Speaker 4: Yeah, so this is what you This is how they
- 11:15Speaker 4: react to tragedy by Doug.
- 11:26Speaker 2: H hang on, whoa lunch? Is it? Nobody stopped trekking.
- 11:39Speaker 2: I mean, I love my people.
- 11:42Speaker 3: That's the you can't when you're man. That's why everyone
- 11:46Speaker 3: you die on Everest. You're stuck there because there's there's
- 11:50Speaker 3: nothing thing to do.
- 11:51Speaker 1: I will say with one brutal honesty that the people
- 11:56Speaker 1: on the top of this mountain reacted the exact same
- 11:59Speaker 1: way that I would have, which is nothing, because I
- 12:03Speaker 1: know that self preservation might innate need to survive would
- 12:09Speaker 1: have me locked in place because I am seeing with
- 12:13Speaker 1: my own eyes what happens when I don't do that,
- 12:17Speaker 1: and there he goes.
- 12:20Speaker 2: I don't know. I think I would disagree.
- 12:23Speaker 4: I think stoic would be Trey.
- 12:26Speaker 2: You would be compassionate.
- 12:28Speaker 4: I would be fucking falling out, laughing and I'm the
- 12:31Speaker 4: worst guy in person.
- 12:34Speaker 1: Oh no, I'd be like I think that would be
- 12:39Speaker 1: I'd be like it. I'd be like, is this really happening.
- 12:41Speaker 4: I don't Trey would be yelling at people like who
- 12:45Speaker 4: who unclipped him?
- 12:46Speaker 2: What happened?
- 12:47Speaker 4: What was he trying to do? And he's trying to
- 12:49Speaker 4: reason it. You would be like, oh my god, how
- 12:51Speaker 4: can we help me. I'd be like, I will get
- 12:55Speaker 4: up in a second, because I'm dying of.
- 12:57Speaker 2: Laughter right now. He died of that. I died of this.
- 13:01Speaker 1: The downside is the two of us are attached to you.
- 13:07Speaker 4: The upside is I'm attached to a Sherpa. We're gonna
- 13:10Speaker 4: make it. Yeah, thank God for that.
- 13:12Speaker 2: I speak the language.
- 13:13Speaker 3: If we ever find ourselves on the top of the mountain,
- 13:16Speaker 3: b I want to know what joke we told that
- 13:18Speaker 3: you got.
- 13:19Speaker 1: Us into this hell, it's probably gonna be this one.
- 13:23Speaker 3: Yeah, but be and then one of us on clips
- 13:27Speaker 3: to get a selfie.
- 13:30Speaker 2: I'll miss you, Bubba.
- 13:33Speaker 4: If we're on top of a mountain and you look
- 13:35Speaker 4: at me like take my wife, please, I will shove.
- 13:38Speaker 2: You off that mountain.
- 13:41Speaker 1: I'll just poke and.
- 13:44Speaker 2: We're gonna miss Tray.
- 13:45Speaker 1: Yeah, he had a good run.
- 13:48Speaker 2: Down the hill.
- 13:55Speaker 1: He's still going look at him the run of a lifetime.
- 14:00Speaker 4: I'm stunned that it was an Asian person. I was
- 14:07Speaker 4: very much Oh it's it's it's you know, ninety nine
- 14:11Speaker 4: percent of the times that's white written all over it.
- 14:16Speaker 2: I don't want a white bash. I like, would you
- 14:18Speaker 2: do it?
- 14:20Speaker 1: Well? You know that that case he died as a
- 14:22Speaker 1: one percent.
- 14:25Speaker 4: In China with two point four billion people, I'll go
- 14:29Speaker 4: he was a point one.
- 14:33Speaker 2: All right.
- 14:33Speaker 1: This feels like a good enough time to try to
- 14:35Speaker 1: change gears as much as possible into something different, slightly different, okay,
- 14:42Speaker 1: totally different. This headline was very very unexpected. Florida woman
- 14:49Speaker 1: wins Mortal Kombat tournament playing with newborn baby in arms.
- 14:57Speaker 2: Say that again.
- 15:00Speaker 1: Florida woman wins Mortal Kombat tournament playing with newborn baby
- 15:04Speaker 1: in her arms.
- 15:07Speaker 2: Oh that is dedication.
- 15:12Speaker 1: Or when you read that headline, the question to ask
- 15:15Speaker 1: might be, was it hers.
- 15:20Speaker 2: Finish him?
- 15:22Speaker 1: I mean, listen to this again. Florida woman wins Mortal
- 15:24Speaker 1: Kombat tournament playing with newborn baby in arms. The headline
- 15:28Speaker 1: didn't say it was hers had a baby.
- 15:30Speaker 2: It's like, and it's.
- 15:32Speaker 1: Florida, so you can't exactly just just spell it.
- 15:36Speaker 4: She just combined Grand Theft, Auto and Mortal Kombat. Like
- 15:39Speaker 4: I'm gonna steal a baby. I'm gonna fight some people.
- 15:44Speaker 4: Was it a Hispanic lady? Because this makes so much sense,
- 15:48Speaker 4: you know what, I'm not sure. Let's I don't even
- 15:50Speaker 4: know her name. I couldn't get past the headline. Uh
- 15:53Speaker 4: let's see. Oh there it is Legion. That's her gamer tag.
- 15:57Speaker 1: L E g I zero in Legion is a three
- 16:02Speaker 1: D artist and mother who occasionally plays fighting games when
- 16:05Speaker 1: she has time in between working and taking care of
- 16:08Speaker 1: her newborn daughter SESA.
- 16:11Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, that's that's that's A. That's yeah.
- 16:14Speaker 1: It's just it's just one letter missing from Servesa. It
- 16:22Speaker 1: really is. That's how it's spelled her name. Then the
- 16:25Speaker 1: kid's name is Sisa, spelled like Servesa without the v okay.
- 16:30Speaker 2: Her brothers Modelo and dose EQI stone like that.
- 16:33Speaker 1: Uh one family, though Gills have not dulled a bit
- 16:37Speaker 1: in spite of the new addition to her family, as
- 16:39Speaker 1: evidenced by her viral victory at her local monthly tournament,
- 16:42Speaker 1: Juicy Game Night in Orlando. Juicy Game Night hosts tournaments
- 16:47Speaker 1: for a slew of different fighting games, one of those
- 16:49Speaker 1: being Mortal Kombat x L and on Saturday, September twenty seventh,
- 16:53Speaker 1: the Florida fighting game community gathered together to put their
- 16:56Speaker 1: skills to the test, and the results took social media
- 16:59Speaker 1: buy storm. Baby Siresa was born in September twenty second,
- 17:04Speaker 1: twenty twenty five, via C section. Pregnancy was complicated and
- 17:08Speaker 1: Legion had developed a uterine window, a condition where the
- 17:11Speaker 1: material of the uter so it severely thin from previous
- 17:13Speaker 1: sections to the point where it's nearly transparent. Also, severe
- 17:17Speaker 1: pain leading up to the birth could have ruptured her uterus.
- 17:23Speaker 1: Five days after all that, though, she still went and
- 17:25Speaker 1: won this Mortal Kombat tournament against all her gamer friends,
- 17:28Speaker 1: to which she told all of them, who's your mummy?
- 17:34Speaker 4: Be the Oblasion, I'm gonna put this game on menopause
- 17:51Speaker 4: because all those symptoms actually caused menopause.
- 17:53Speaker 1: Oh okay, yeah, the Mother of All games. That really
- 18:00Speaker 1: isn't it? Really is impressive? Like she was able to
- 18:02Speaker 1: give birth and then five days later she was able
- 18:05Speaker 1: to stay seated and use her thumbs to win a
- 18:07Speaker 1: Mortal Kombat tournament.
- 18:10Speaker 4: Well she should she should be seated, Like it's not
- 18:13Speaker 4: good to move with all of that happening. You're you're
- 18:18Speaker 4: leading up to a hysterectomy, is what?
- 18:20Speaker 2: Or hers. I don't have I don't know the pronouns.
- 18:24Speaker 1: Well, you know what, if this is what she does
- 18:26Speaker 1: after the C section, baby, I can't wait to see
- 18:28Speaker 1: what she accomplishes after that hysterectomy.
- 18:31Speaker 2: I want to see the doctor.
- 18:34Speaker 1: She's wearing a headset rush and his gamer tag is
- 18:39Speaker 1: doctor d O C T three R.
- 18:46Speaker 2: Well, good for her.
- 18:46Speaker 4: I saw the picture, and uh, yeah, that's kind of impressive. Yeah,
- 18:54Speaker 4: I've never liked a game that much. I've never like
- 18:58Speaker 4: video game that much.
- 18:59Speaker 2: I didn't. I don't.
- 19:00Speaker 4: I don't have the hand eye coordination to do it.
- 19:03Speaker 1: It's never too late to start. Start with Tetris and
- 19:07Speaker 1: then work your way forward.
- 19:08Speaker 2: I love Tetris, but I'm Indian.
- 19:11Speaker 4: Uh, and so I like the the angles and the yeah,
- 19:14Speaker 4: but I can't do like the the combat stuff, like
- 19:17Speaker 4: the what's the what's the big one?
- 19:21Speaker 1: That street fighter? Okay, yeah, I can't.
- 19:25Speaker 4: Do that because I I start looking at the other
- 19:29Speaker 4: person is me, so I'm not looking at myself.
- 19:32Speaker 2: It's weird.
- 19:33Speaker 1: It is odd. You're overly empathetic even in video games.
- 19:37Speaker 2: I I you know, I'm Hindu. That's what we do.
- 19:40Speaker 1: Yeah, I definitely don't play Mortal Kombat. That'll that'll break you.
- 19:42Speaker 4: No, the Hindu version Immortal Kombat is Uh, it's so great.
- 19:51Speaker 2: We all we all come back as cows. Uh.
- 19:54Speaker 1: It's nice, it's got a great name. But I bet
- 19:57Speaker 1: it's a boring game.
- 20:00Speaker 2: He's back.
- 20:01Speaker 1: Finish him again, he's back.
- 20:02Speaker 2: Goddamn it. How many lives does this guy have?
- 20:07Speaker 1: How many levels? Is this game never hit Nirvana at
- 20:11Speaker 1: this point? All right? And finally, after reading this headline,
- 20:17Speaker 1: we have some serious questions. Australian doc worker reinstated after
- 20:23Speaker 1: telling co workers he put penis in sandwich. Here's my question,
- 20:29Speaker 1: was it his penis or somebody else's?
- 20:33Speaker 2: I don't know how you missed that spit take.
- 20:36Speaker 1: And then I know Trey has a question about the
- 20:38Speaker 1: headline as well.
- 20:39Speaker 3: Yeah, what the fuck does it take to get fired
- 20:41Speaker 3: in Australia.
- 20:44Speaker 1: You're right because he got reinstated.
- 20:48Speaker 2: Well you know it wasn't a five dollars foot long.
- 20:54Speaker 1: Oh. Australian doc worker reinstated after telling coworkers he put
- 20:58Speaker 1: penis in sandwich. This is where you need you need
- 21:02Speaker 1: You need a pronoun in here. You need some type
- 21:04Speaker 1: of qualifying term, either his penis or a penis. You
- 21:09Speaker 1: need to put something in there so we know what
- 21:11Speaker 1: was actually in this sandwich. An Australian doc worker won
- 21:16Speaker 1: his job back after he was fired for, among other things,
- 21:20Speaker 1: telling a colleague he put his penis in his subway sandwich.
- 21:25Speaker 1: I don't think that should get you fired if you
- 21:27Speaker 1: put your penis in your own sandwich, Rob Order, Yeah.
- 21:33Speaker 1: Robert Smith, sixty two was fired from his job in
- 21:36Speaker 1: Melbourne in January. His employer accused him of showing male
- 21:41Speaker 1: co workers bikini clad photos of female colleagues, telling one
- 21:45Speaker 1: he had spat and put his look in his subway sandwich,
- 21:50Speaker 1: and calling a colleague a useless piece of shit and
- 21:53Speaker 1: a condescending punt.
- 21:56Speaker 2: But it's Australia, so that's.
- 21:59Speaker 1: That's the way far down the list compared to putting
- 22:02Speaker 1: your dick in a sandwich.
- 22:04Speaker 4: The worker, Trey Tronholm, said, that's it's Trey's day job.
- 22:14Speaker 4: This is his double ganger in Australia's just putting Dixon say,
- 22:18Speaker 4: which isn't calling people cuts.
- 22:21Speaker 2: Uh.
- 22:21Speaker 1: He took his former employer to the Australian Fair Work
- 22:24Speaker 1: Commission arguing unreasonable dismissal, with the Commission ultimately ruling in
- 22:29Speaker 1: his favor once again hang on. Commissioner Scott Connolly said
- 22:35Speaker 1: determination was harsh, unjust and unreasonable. He said the company
- 22:40Speaker 1: is to reinstate mister Robert Smith by reappointing him to
- 22:44Speaker 1: the position in which he was employed immediately before the dismissal,
- 22:49Speaker 1: which begs the question again that Trey.
- 22:51Speaker 3: Had What the fuck does it take to get fired
- 22:53Speaker 3: in Australia, Dad, damn it?
- 23:00Speaker 1: I guess. I guess maybe at that point if he
- 23:03Speaker 1: had put his penis in somebody else's sandwich, then maybe
- 23:06Speaker 1: the firing would have stuck.
- 23:15Speaker 4: So that's not egregious enough to get fired. By putting
- 23:18Speaker 4: your own penis in your sandwich, that's fine.
- 23:21Speaker 1: And calling your fellow employees a C word, yeah yeah yeah,
- 23:27Speaker 1: But by Australian standards, you're that's nothing.
- 23:30Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 23:30Speaker 4: But if you put it in somebody else's sandwich, that
- 23:33Speaker 4: might be grounds for termination.
