- 0:00Speaker 1: The following program is produced by the Tech Talk Radio Network.
- 0:04Speaker 2: And Welcome to another episode of tech Talk Radio.
- 0:06Speaker 1: I'm Aby Taylor, I'm Sean de Weird, and we are
- 0:09Speaker 1: the show that talks about.
- 0:10Speaker 3: Computers, technology, and the.
- 0:13Speaker 1: Internet, game games and games. Yes, and games, got to
- 0:17Speaker 1: talk about games too. We got a lot of cool
- 0:20Speaker 1: stuff to talk about. I'll be honest with you, I've
- 0:22Speaker 1: needed this show today. The last three days have been
- 0:26Speaker 1: technological heck, nothing working, rebooting stuff, firmware updates.
- 0:34Speaker 2: My phone isn't working anymore.
- 0:37Speaker 3: So here's the real question about that. Ye are you
- 0:40Speaker 3: patient with technology or are you just fuming smoke out
- 0:44Speaker 3: of the years the whole thing.
- 0:45Speaker 2: Okay, so here's my take on it.
- 0:47Speaker 1: I know not everybody's going to agree with me, but
- 0:49Speaker 1: sometimes I think that people that put the tech together
- 0:54Speaker 1: got they're great minds, but the people that work on
- 0:57Speaker 1: the other side they forget, Like the base, Why do
- 1:00Speaker 1: I have to do this when I could do this?
- 1:03Speaker 1: And it's frustrating when you're trying to get something done
- 1:07Speaker 1: and you can't do it, Oh, because this wants you
- 1:09Speaker 1: to do this over here. And yeah, that's that's kind
- 1:12Speaker 1: of what I've been dealing with.
- 1:13Speaker 2: I'm sorry.
- 1:14Speaker 3: Here's something that I've always teld people. Do you think
- 1:16Speaker 3: technology has feelings?
- 1:18Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 1:18Speaker 3: Have you noticed that sometimes maybe you threaten its life,
- 1:21Speaker 3: threatened a deprivat of power, it just miraculously starts working again.
- 1:25Speaker 2: Yeah. I wish that was the case for me.
- 1:28Speaker 3: But yees, you know, at work, I get they call
- 1:30Speaker 3: it the engineering touch, right, it wasn't working and now
- 1:34Speaker 3: you walked in and it started working because I just
- 1:36Speaker 3: threatened it and it starts working.
- 1:37Speaker 2: Oh, you see, that's a good thing.
- 1:40Speaker 1: But it's just you know, there's a video I've seen
- 1:43Speaker 1: on social media and it's this guy. He's like sitting
- 1:48Speaker 1: there and he gets a phone call. Obviously he's a
- 1:50Speaker 1: remote engineer, and he's telling them to turn off a server.
- 1:55Speaker 1: He can't access it, to turn it off, right, And
- 1:58Speaker 1: he's telling him and they're saying, no, it's it's it's off.
- 2:01Speaker 2: You know, it's not working.
- 2:03Speaker 1: So it shows him, you know, getting his his tech
- 2:06Speaker 1: bag together, getting in his his little Audie, driving to
- 2:10Speaker 1: the airport, hopping on a plane, flying to wherever that
- 2:14Speaker 1: location is, getting off the plane right, getting into a
- 2:19Speaker 1: an uber driving to the place you know where the
- 2:22Speaker 1: server the rec servers are walking up the halls, getting
- 2:27Speaker 1: to the server room and looking and no, it's it's
- 2:30Speaker 1: still on.
- 2:31Speaker 3: That sounds about right. So what it's off has been
- 2:36Speaker 3: wrong in antis technical world.
- 2:37Speaker 2: Okay, So here's what here's what I've been dealing with.
- 2:40Speaker 1: I noticed the other day my RCS chats were no
- 2:43Speaker 1: longer working. And I use the Google Pixel device, the
- 2:48Speaker 1: Pixel XL nine, and I couldn't figure it out. Why
- 2:52Speaker 1: we wanted to It was, you know, I wanted to
- 2:54Speaker 1: send our daughter, you know, a group chat and it's
- 2:57Speaker 1: had a big exclamation point and the only other exclamation
- 3:00Speaker 1: points next to my chats were with you and justin.
- 3:05Speaker 1: So I thought, oh my gosh, did I miss any messages.
- 3:08Speaker 1: I wasn't getting messages, I wasn't seeing anything, couldn't respond.
- 3:14Speaker 1: So I went through trying to get it to work
- 3:16Speaker 1: and get all the settings, and you know, you go
- 3:19Speaker 1: down one rabbit hole on the pixel and then.
- 3:22Speaker 2: Oh, you're gotta go over here and do this. Okay.
- 3:24Speaker 1: Then I tried to fix that and it was really
- 3:27Speaker 1: it and frustrating. I went ahead and guy called support
- 3:30Speaker 1: and he told me it sounds like the problem is
- 3:32Speaker 1: with your eSIM. So I think what we should do
- 3:35Speaker 1: is flash or eSIM And I said, no, no, no, no,
- 3:38Speaker 1: that's okay. I would rather wait, and I will if
- 3:43Speaker 1: I have to, I'll take it in and we'll have
- 3:46Speaker 1: them do that there. So I just, you know, I
- 3:48Speaker 1: just kept playing with it, going on to the web
- 3:51Speaker 1: and doing searches, not working what to do.
- 3:55Speaker 2: I'd see different videos.
- 3:57Speaker 1: And I don't know where they get their settings because
- 3:59Speaker 1: it weren't the same as what I was looking at.
- 4:01Speaker 2: And then finally, you know, have rebooting.
- 4:04Speaker 1: The phone and going that whole bit seven or eight
- 4:06Speaker 1: times check checking settings. Our chess came back. So I
- 4:11Speaker 1: was fine. I was like, okay, good next day, driving
- 4:15Speaker 1: to work. My voice assistant isn't working now for me
- 4:20Speaker 1: and for anybody that is used in Android device, and Sean,
- 4:24Speaker 1: I know you're still in the Apple world. Siri is
- 4:27Speaker 1: very limited, and what Siri will do for you, I mean.
- 4:30Speaker 2: It's just it's it's the just the way it is.
- 4:34Speaker 1: And you know, I have an iPhone, but I also
- 4:37Speaker 1: have the Android. I would say hey Google, and nothing
- 4:42Speaker 1: would come up. It just would not work. I was
- 4:45Speaker 1: hoping that because we were doing the show, I'd say
- 4:47Speaker 1: hey Google and I look down just to see if
- 4:49Speaker 1: my phone would suddenly come alive again, went through every setting,
- 4:53Speaker 1: and I just couldn't get it to work. At wants
- 4:55Speaker 1: to fight with Gemini because you've got Gemini as an
- 4:58Speaker 1: assistant and you've got Google Voice as an assistant. I
- 5:01Speaker 1: prefer the Google Voice. It's faster if I need quick information.
- 5:06Speaker 1: I was doing my radio show. I needed something quick
- 5:09Speaker 1: about an artist that had passed away, and you know
- 5:12Speaker 1: you missed that. I couldn't say, Hey, Google, can you
- 5:15Speaker 1: tell me something about blah blah blah? And now suddenly
- 5:19Speaker 1: I had to push a button and I had to
- 5:21Speaker 1: Suddenly I was in Gemini mode. I wasn't in the
- 5:23Speaker 1: assistant and it's just a different experience. So that's been
- 5:27Speaker 1: frustrating me. Still not fixed. Then I get home and
- 5:32Speaker 1: for some reason, my rokud device wouldn't work, and I
- 5:35Speaker 1: couldn't figure.
- 5:36Speaker 2: Out what was going on with it.
- 5:37Speaker 1: So I started looking around and I found other devices
- 5:39Speaker 1: that weren't working, and I go and I look at
- 5:41Speaker 1: my router. Why is there a magenta light on this?
- 5:46Speaker 3: That's a fun color.
- 5:47Speaker 2: Yeah, it's not a good color, So what the heck
- 5:49Speaker 2: is going on here?
- 5:51Speaker 1: So I kept looking at it and went ahead and
- 5:53Speaker 1: rebooted the cable modem. You know, the process is if
- 5:56Speaker 1: you have an issue, unplug the modem, let us sit
- 5:59Speaker 1: for about the thirty seconds, you know, unplugged the wire
- 6:01Speaker 1: the router as well, and then unplugged the motem. Let
- 6:04Speaker 1: it sit for about thirty seconds. Then plug the motor
- 6:07Speaker 1: back in. Let it get to all all of your
- 6:11Speaker 1: indications working. Then I plugged the links this in and
- 6:15Speaker 1: it came back up, and I was like, okay, cool,
- 6:17Speaker 1: that was good. But still I had things that were
- 6:20Speaker 1: not working, and I could not see the two point
- 6:23Speaker 1: four gigahertz network. I know what happened to it. And
- 6:27Speaker 1: the only network that was working was a Wi Fi
- 6:29Speaker 1: extender that was in another room, so everything was drawing
- 6:32Speaker 1: off that. So I thought, oh great, now my links
- 6:35Speaker 1: this router is gone. Right.
- 6:37Speaker 2: It was a blue light though, so I went.
- 6:40Speaker 3: Through something like super hot, there is your WiFi? Is
- 6:42Speaker 3: your m just struggling?
- 6:44Speaker 1: Yeah, that's I was thinking about that too. Maybe the
- 6:47Speaker 1: heat was setting it off, because you may find depending
- 6:50Speaker 1: on where you're putting it, you know, that could be
- 6:53Speaker 1: the case. And I just went back and forth and
- 6:56Speaker 1: finally I went ahead did a factory reset of it.
- 7:00Speaker 1: But once you do a factory reset and you you know,
- 7:04Speaker 1: reset up your network. I got that all work, and
- 7:06Speaker 1: now I'm going through having to re set up all
- 7:10Speaker 1: the cameras, reset all the different devices that I have
- 7:14Speaker 1: that we're tied to.
- 7:15Speaker 2: That It's been not fun at all.
- 7:18Speaker 3: I'm terrified when I have to do mine, right, because
- 7:21Speaker 3: I've done a lot of architecture on my network. If
- 7:25Speaker 3: I have to restart my I'm just running a Netgear Nighthawk, right,
- 7:29Speaker 3: so nothing.
- 7:30Speaker 2: You have an ass on your system, right, I've.
- 7:32Speaker 3: Got an ass. I've got multiple leaf switches. Right, I'm
- 7:36Speaker 3: configured for multiple v lands. I'm convicted conflict, you know,
- 7:39Speaker 3: configured for multiple Wi Fi networks. Guess Wi Fi networks.
- 7:43Speaker 3: I mean, I've done a ton of networking architecture that
- 7:46Speaker 3: if I lose that, I'm sure I can download a configure.
- 7:48Speaker 3: You know what, I might do that during the show,
- 7:50Speaker 3: download a config just in case.
- 7:53Speaker 1: Now you got me spooped, oh yeah, oh no, and
- 7:55Speaker 1: let me tell you all. While doing this, I also
- 7:59Speaker 1: decide factory reset my phone. And the thing is, luckily,
- 8:03Speaker 1: you know, we I use a very good, strong password
- 8:05Speaker 1: manager that I can access from my system. But that
- 8:10Speaker 1: was that has not been a fun experience because dealing
- 8:13Speaker 1: with Wise, I can't get my Wi's cameras back.
- 8:15Speaker 2: I have no idea.
- 8:16Speaker 1: I go into Wyse, I log in, there's no cameras
- 8:19Speaker 1: there at all. It's like I have to reset the
- 8:22Speaker 1: entire Wise interface.
- 8:24Speaker 2: So you could imagine that sucks. Yeah, you could imagine
- 8:28Speaker 2: how that would go.
- 8:29Speaker 3: Oh my gosh, that sucks. I would say I would
- 8:31Speaker 3: recommend for the why stuff. Right. Have you been able
- 8:33Speaker 3: to log into the web the web portal and see them?
- 8:35Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 8:36Speaker 1: No, I can't even see him on the web portal.
- 8:38Speaker 1: It's like that account no cameras ever existed because it
- 8:42Speaker 1: said let's add your cameras, and.
- 8:45Speaker 3: I bet, I bet it's I bet it's a newer
- 8:48Speaker 3: version of the app, and set settings didn't come over.
- 8:51Speaker 2: That's what I'm thinking.
- 8:52Speaker 3: How that would suck too. I would again if that
- 8:56Speaker 3: happened to me, I would just pull them all out
- 8:58Speaker 3: and get new cameras. I would just go to a
- 9:00Speaker 3: different brand. I'm just I don't know, upset so many
- 9:05Speaker 3: devices and so many light bulbs and stuff that Oh
- 9:08Speaker 3: my god, that.
- 9:09Speaker 1: Four four Wise cameras that are located in different, you know,
- 9:14Speaker 1: different places and then I have a Nest camera.
- 9:17Speaker 2: And that was another one.
- 9:18Speaker 1: You know, you would think, Okay, I still have the
- 9:20Speaker 1: box for my Nest camera. I've had that for many years.
- 9:23Speaker 1: You would think when it came time to add that camera,
- 9:26Speaker 1: that I had add back to my Nest interface. You
- 9:30Speaker 1: would think they would have put in the box, maybe
- 9:33Speaker 1: the you know, logging code for the camera, like the QR. No,
- 9:37Speaker 1: where is that It's at the very bottom of the camera.
- 9:40Speaker 1: Where is it at the highest point of my house.
- 9:46Speaker 3: Physical security?
- 9:46Speaker 1: I guess, yeah, I have you on the ladder. I
- 9:49Speaker 1: have to climb a ladder, hopefully not break my neck.
- 9:52Speaker 1: I tried zooming in with a camera trying to get
- 9:55Speaker 1: a good shot so I wouldn't have to climb the ladder. No.
- 9:58Speaker 1: So all of this at the same time, I'm not
- 10:01Speaker 1: everything meshing old passwords being pulled up by you know,
- 10:06Speaker 1: by by the app, and I'm like, no, no, no, I
- 10:08Speaker 1: will use my other password where I have to recreate
- 10:11Speaker 1: what It's just Yeah, it's frustrated.
- 10:13Speaker 2: It's been frustrating.
- 10:14Speaker 3: Oh I met yeah I again. If I lost all
- 10:17Speaker 3: my wide stuff, I don't know what I would do
- 10:19Speaker 3: because I would have to read SYNK so many rules
- 10:21Speaker 3: that I've got built in, And.
- 10:24Speaker 1: That's one of the things that I thought about too, Sean,
- 10:26Speaker 1: is like, why don't they make it so you could
- 10:28Speaker 1: just back up and save those configuration files.
- 10:33Speaker 3: It should be safe, Like that's I don't understand. It
- 10:35Speaker 3: should be like if I log in, even if Caitlin
- 10:38Speaker 3: logs into hers, right, it can pull.
- 10:42Speaker 1: It pulls what I have on my account exactly. But
- 10:46Speaker 1: why my cameras are just aren't there. It's so ridiculous.
- 10:51Speaker 3: Maybe somebody else can see your cameras now.
- 10:54Speaker 1: But nobody. Yeah, I know, right, that's.
- 10:58Speaker 3: A that's a poke of them for the issue. They
- 10:59Speaker 3: had a couple like A two where if you logged
- 11:02Speaker 3: into the app you saw other people's cameras.
- 11:04Speaker 2: Can you share my camera with me? Please? But no?
- 11:08Speaker 2: And that's the frust three straighting thing about it.
- 11:11Speaker 1: I finally reached out to Wise and just to make
- 11:14Speaker 1: sure we're logging in with the right account. I went
- 11:17Speaker 1: through every email I have to for log in up
- 11:20Speaker 1: only one account, so I reached out to them.
- 11:22Speaker 2: I got to call them tomorrow.
- 11:23Speaker 1: If I give them the serial number off one of
- 11:25Speaker 1: the cameras which I have here, I'm thinking maybe they
- 11:28Speaker 1: can pull that and see what that was tied to
- 11:31Speaker 1: in case there's some other Did I use a hotmail address?
- 11:35Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 11:36Speaker 1: That's really frustrating. So yeah, I'm and then I've got
- 11:41Speaker 1: to take my Android after finally getting tech support today,
- 11:45Speaker 1: I've got to take my Android into a local shop
- 11:47Speaker 1: because I reset the phone that still didn't bring the
- 11:51Speaker 1: voice system back.
- 11:52Speaker 3: I will say though, you know, when I had the
- 11:55Speaker 3: issues with my phone where I took it, I upgraded
- 11:59Speaker 3: up something. I want to go get the FaceTime camera
- 12:01Speaker 3: replaced or something, and then they were like, oh, you
- 12:03Speaker 3: get a battery upgrade, and I had to like downgrade
- 12:05Speaker 3: from the Betex I was running in the iOS twenty
- 12:07Speaker 3: six beda at that time. That is something that Apple
- 12:09Speaker 3: just does really really well. Is the iCloud backups? Right?
- 12:13Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 12:14Speaker 3: It was. It was. It took a little while, but
- 12:16Speaker 3: it was pretty seamless and how it you could get
- 12:19Speaker 3: right back into doing what you needed to do. And
- 12:21Speaker 3: I think the biggest thing that took the longest was
- 12:23Speaker 3: because I don't delete any of my messages, So my
- 12:27Speaker 3: messages and yeah, I think I have like fifty six
- 12:30Speaker 3: gigs worth of iCloud messages.
- 12:32Speaker 2: Oh my lord, wow, because I've never.
- 12:35Speaker 3: I've I've always just had. I've never deleted any iCloud
- 12:38Speaker 3: messages I've ever had. I've never turned it off.
- 12:41Speaker 1: Like so, if somebody sends you an attachment in your messages,
- 12:44Speaker 1: like hey, here's a photo of it's in the cloud,
- 12:48Speaker 1: and that increases the size of the.
- 12:49Speaker 3: Oh, yeah, I have to I'll look it up. I'll
- 12:51Speaker 3: look it up during the break. But it's it's like
- 12:53Speaker 3: fifty or fifty six, it's like somewhere above fifty gigs
- 12:55Speaker 3: of total.
- 12:57Speaker 1: Would you say you're a text hoarder?
- 13:00Speaker 3: Is that tech and text order? Yes? I but I
- 13:05Speaker 3: can go back, like any I could go back when
- 13:09Speaker 3: you had your iPhone. I can go all the way
- 13:11Speaker 3: back to all the messages I've ever seen you, right,
- 13:14Speaker 3: all the message I've ever said, justin because he he
- 13:16Speaker 3: had I don't know if he had an iPhone then,
- 13:18Speaker 3: but he did, I think, Caitlin, I can go my
- 13:21Speaker 3: mom my, dad, and ever since I've had an eye,
- 13:23Speaker 3: an Apple address, or a you know, an iCloud, I've
- 13:26Speaker 3: never important question.
- 13:29Speaker 1: So you keep text messages photos that are stored on
- 13:33Speaker 1: your phone when you take a photo, are you offloading
- 13:35Speaker 1: those and saving those no.
- 13:37Speaker 3: Because I bought the five twelve. I have the five
- 13:39Speaker 3: twelve gig iPhone I've still got I mean, here, how
- 13:42Speaker 3: many photos do I have on my phone right now?
- 13:44Speaker 3: If I look and I look, I've got eleven thousand,
- 13:47Speaker 3: four hundred and thirty eleven thousand, eleven and thirty nine items.
- 13:53Speaker 3: So that's videos, photos and everything.
- 13:55Speaker 1: Now, do you have an extended service plan with Apple?
- 13:58Speaker 1: Did you get a large I mean, five twelve's a
- 14:00Speaker 1: lot of storage. But I'm thinking, because I keep getting
- 14:05Speaker 1: notifications from Google saying you're running out of space, your
- 14:09Speaker 1: fifteen gigabytes is just I mean.
- 14:11Speaker 3: I pay for because I do a lot of the
- 14:14Speaker 3: archiving stuff for my family. I have one hundred gigs
- 14:17Speaker 3: of iCloud stores that we barely put a dent in
- 14:20Speaker 3: between me and Galen right, and then well, maybe maybe
- 14:24Speaker 3: I have more. Maybe I had more one hundred. I
- 14:27Speaker 3: think I maybe have one terabyte for iCloud stores, and
- 14:30Speaker 3: then I do two terabytes of Google, and I think
- 14:32Speaker 3: I'm running in like seven hundred gigs total across all
- 14:35Speaker 3: my family accounts now, so I have quite a bit
- 14:38Speaker 3: of cloud Stars, but it's also backed up. I have
- 14:42Speaker 3: it on my Nass right, and my NAS is fourteen
- 14:45Speaker 3: terabytes I think twelve terabytes, twelve or fourteen terabytes, and
- 14:48Speaker 3: that's not even I'm not putting it even putting a
- 14:51Speaker 3: dent into that, just because I just have so much
- 14:54Speaker 3: space on that.
- 14:55Speaker 1: You know, we're talking about okay, eleven thousand photos. That's
- 14:58Speaker 1: a lot of people. And some people might be going, well, wait,
- 15:01Speaker 1: if you lose your phone, you lose all those photos.
- 15:03Speaker 1: That's not going to be the case because all backed
- 15:05Speaker 1: up I Cloud and it all gets backed up to iCloud.
- 15:08Speaker 3: And it's sinking. So it's not only is it sinking too.
- 15:11Speaker 3: So I hate the photos app on the phone. I
- 15:16Speaker 3: don't like Apple Photos. I'm not I do live in
- 15:20Speaker 3: the app the Mac ecosystem, right, I just hate Apple Photos.
- 15:25Speaker 3: I don't like it. I've never liked Apple Photos. I
- 15:27Speaker 3: always like Google Photos. What you can do is on
- 15:31Speaker 3: your iPhone, you can set it up so it'll automatically
- 15:34Speaker 3: back up to Google Photos. Also, so not only do
- 15:38Speaker 3: I have my iCloud backup, but if I were for
- 15:40Speaker 3: some reason to lose my entire iCloud backup, or you know,
- 15:44Speaker 3: forget to or change a setting so it doesn't restore
- 15:47Speaker 3: for six months or something. All of my photos and
- 15:50Speaker 3: videos are still going to Google also, which is great
- 15:54Speaker 3: because that's the easiest way for me to categorize stuff.
- 15:57Speaker 3: If I want pictures of my kids, I have a
- 16:00Speaker 3: folder that is just every picture I take of Max
- 16:02Speaker 3: is put into a folder. Every picture of Daniels's in
- 16:06Speaker 3: its own folder. My parents, my grandparents, et cetera. I
- 16:09Speaker 3: can just quickly organize by family faces. And some people
- 16:13Speaker 3: think that's creepy because you're, you know, giving Google all
- 16:15Speaker 3: this face data, but it makes it convenient for me
- 16:18Speaker 3: to not if I need a photo off my phone
- 16:21Speaker 3: or I need to send it to somebody or print it,
- 16:22Speaker 3: I just go to Google Photos on my computer desktop
- 16:25Speaker 3: wherever I am. Where I say, Caitlin log can because
- 16:27Speaker 3: she has the which we share our Google account. Yeah,
- 16:30Speaker 3: she can log in and see my pictures. I can
- 16:32Speaker 3: see her pictures from her phone and they update to
- 16:34Speaker 3: the same album. So we're just constantly getting all of
- 16:37Speaker 3: our photos from both of our devices live in the
- 16:39Speaker 3: same place, which is fantastic for sharing, especially with my
- 16:42Speaker 3: parents stuff because we don't neither of us will be
- 16:44Speaker 3: use social media. Caitlin's not a heavy social media user either,
- 16:47Speaker 3: but we send a lot of pictures to our family
- 16:50Speaker 3: through Google because it just works.
- 16:52Speaker 1: I am a screenshotter, so I'm and I don't know
- 16:56Speaker 1: about you, but like, if I've go through my phone
- 16:59Speaker 1: right now, I look, I have got well all the
- 17:03Speaker 1: text from number one bit how to do an effect
- 17:05Speaker 1: in after effects to you know, how to fix my phone.
- 17:10Speaker 2: I've been doing that.
- 17:11Speaker 1: So I'll see something and I'll screenshot it, and that way.
- 17:14Speaker 2: It's saved on my phone.
- 17:15Speaker 3: Oh, look at that one thousand screenshots, even one thousand,
- 17:22Speaker 3: even the screenshot I took today made it one thousand. Even,
- 17:24Speaker 3: I screenshot everything.
- 17:27Speaker 1: I would love to hear from one of our listeners
- 17:29Speaker 1: that also screenshots and see you has more than you
- 17:34Speaker 1: on their device.
- 17:35Speaker 3: Yeah, but I screenshot, like if I if I see
- 17:37Speaker 3: something on Reddit that I think is interesting, if I
- 17:39Speaker 3: see something on a website that I think is interesting,
- 17:41Speaker 3: I screenshot it because then I'll circle back to that.
- 17:44Speaker 2: I never circle back never.
- 17:47Speaker 3: But yeah, so a thousand even, it's crazy, A thousand
- 17:50Speaker 3: just that's just screenshots.
- 17:51Speaker 1: Now, if there's anybody who listen to it right now,
- 17:53Speaker 1: because get we get some people that have not had
- 17:55Speaker 1: experience too much with smartphones Screenshotting gives you the ability
- 17:59Speaker 1: to press a couple of buttons on your device and
- 18:02Speaker 1: actually take a picture of your screen. So if you're
- 18:05Speaker 1: on a screen, like say you're an Amazon and you're like, oh,
- 18:08Speaker 1: I really like that, and you want to find a
- 18:10Speaker 1: quick way to save just that page with the photo
- 18:13Speaker 1: on it, so you could share it with somebody, say hey,
- 18:15Speaker 1: I'd like this for my birthday, or I'd like to
- 18:17Speaker 1: get this, and you just want to be able to
- 18:19Speaker 1: remember what it was called, you screenshot it. Or you
- 18:22Speaker 1: find an instruction on how to cook something a recipe,
- 18:26Speaker 1: screenshot it. Screenshots can be great and you could even
- 18:30Speaker 1: like with Google Photos. You know, I've done this before.
- 18:34Speaker 1: Gloria's said okay, I want to get I want to
- 18:36Speaker 1: learn how to make that, So she'll send me a
- 18:39Speaker 1: photo of the recipe. I'll go ahead and go to
- 18:41Speaker 1: Google Photos. And with capture you can actually pull the
- 18:44Speaker 1: text from that image.
- 18:48Speaker 3: It's fantastic.
- 18:49Speaker 1: Yeah, you could do that with the iPhone iOS devices too, right, can.
- 18:52Speaker 2: You do that or is that strictly?
- 18:54Speaker 3: And I know I've used it quite a bit to
- 18:58Speaker 3: screenshots a Reddit thread or something that I off and
- 19:00Speaker 3: copy it and put it into a notes tab. I
- 19:04Speaker 3: have a bazillion notes. I use the notes app a
- 19:06Speaker 3: lot too. So yeah, but it's like I find stuff
- 19:08Speaker 3: that's interesting, Like here's a jar of chain wax for
- 19:13Speaker 3: dirt bikes that I wanted to I wanted to remember
- 19:15Speaker 3: the brand name. So when I need to go buy
- 19:18Speaker 3: more chain wax for my dirt bike, I can go, oh,
- 19:21Speaker 3: I remember taking a picture of that. Or it's like
- 19:23Speaker 3: a screenshot of like our switcher inputs that I wrote
- 19:26Speaker 3: down on a sheet of papers that I took a
- 19:27Speaker 3: picture a screenshot of, or you know. So it's like
- 19:30Speaker 3: it's stuff like that. I've got screenshots of everything, but
- 19:33Speaker 3: a thousand screenshots.
- 19:34Speaker 1: Screenshotting is you know, people will say, oh, it just
- 19:37Speaker 1: takes up space.
- 19:38Speaker 2: You can go through if you have to.
- 19:40Speaker 1: You can go through and delete them, or you could
- 19:41Speaker 1: offload them if you're.
- 19:43Speaker 3: Like me, I don't delete photos. Maybe I I I
- 19:49Speaker 3: keep all I keep so much media from everything that
- 19:52Speaker 3: I've shot edited.
- 19:53Speaker 1: How do you how do you weed through it? Can
- 19:55Speaker 1: you put keywords on them?
- 19:56Speaker 3: Oh? My dude, I spent when I got my nass,
- 20:00Speaker 3: all right, I spent This was during COVID, so I
- 20:05Speaker 3: was archiving photos and stuff. I did a hard drive inventory.
- 20:11Speaker 3: I went through an inventoried all of my heart.
- 20:13Speaker 2: It was.
- 20:13Speaker 3: It was some the data order subreddit as a kind
- 20:16Speaker 3: of a comprehensive list of like if you want to
- 20:19Speaker 3: get your your ducks in a row, do these things.
- 20:23Speaker 3: It's like, start by categorizing all your hard drives. What's
- 20:27Speaker 3: on them, serial numbers, data volume size, et cetera. I
- 20:32Speaker 3: went through and then I went drive by drive and
- 20:35Speaker 3: took and organized it. So I said, here, okay, I
- 20:37Speaker 3: took it all from this drive, put in the nass,
- 20:40Speaker 3: went to the next drive, said oh, here's duplicates, didn't
- 20:43Speaker 3: duplicate it, and then organized it by year by month.
- 20:49Speaker 3: Out dude, I went, I went down a rabbit hole
- 20:51Speaker 3: with this. I'm I'm organized like by year for photo,
- 20:58Speaker 3: this is for photos, photos and videos by month and
- 21:01Speaker 3: if you can go in and for mostly it's stills.
- 21:04Speaker 3: But I went through and just blitzed through it so
- 21:07Speaker 3: that when I scanned in all my stuff with the
- 21:10Speaker 3: my fast scanner, my fast for bat EP's in six
- 21:13Speaker 3: eighty yeah right, it was all. I went through it,
- 21:16Speaker 3: organized it all by year and months. So when I
- 21:19Speaker 3: scanned them, this was October eighty six this was November
- 21:24Speaker 3: twenty nineteen. This was and I could just dump them
- 21:27Speaker 3: right into those folders.
- 21:28Speaker 1: Well, what I loved I loved about the six eighty
- 21:31Speaker 1: when I got a chance to play with a couple
- 21:32Speaker 1: of times we've looked at that is that you could actually,
- 21:36Speaker 1: before you scan if you've gathered every photo up from
- 21:40Speaker 1: say nineteen seventy eight trip to London, right you put
- 21:44Speaker 1: them in the scanner. In the midea tags, you could
- 21:47Speaker 1: actually put nineteen seventy eight trip to London. So when
- 21:51Speaker 1: they are come out and they're in that you could
- 21:53Speaker 1: drag them to a folder nineteen seventy eight trip to London.
- 21:56Speaker 3: I'm telling you, man, that scanner saved me weeks of
- 21:59Speaker 3: time in terms of organizing, in terms of and I
- 22:02Speaker 3: mean Krkudo's absence, because it's incredible, it's super easy to
- 22:04Speaker 3: use front and back postcard scans. It was. It's incredible
- 22:08Speaker 3: scanner and it just helped me. But organizing, Yeah, I
- 22:11Speaker 3: don't know how we got down this rabbit hole of
- 22:14Speaker 3: now we're talking about scanners and data hoarding and stuff.
- 22:16Speaker 1: But I Will didn't want to tell you though. I
- 22:19Speaker 1: did look at their new scanner, the EPSOM is five
- 22:23Speaker 1: ninety W, which is mainly for documents receipts, but it's
- 22:28Speaker 1: ultra fast, and.
- 22:30Speaker 2: It was funny because I was trying to compare it.
- 22:32Speaker 1: I was showing it on Fox eleven, and I brought
- 22:35Speaker 1: in a flatbed scanner, you know, and you know, oh,
- 22:38Speaker 1: you can scan one page and then it goes through
- 22:41Speaker 1: and then oh, there's your image. But I took this
- 22:44Speaker 1: a page of papers from the doctor that was you know,
- 22:49Speaker 1: about about an inch thick from when I had my
- 22:51Speaker 1: little heart thing going on. I took that page, I
- 22:54Speaker 1: put them in the scanner and it was just like boom,
- 22:57Speaker 1: boom boom. Forty five pages permitted.
- 23:00Speaker 3: It says it'll do one hundred.
- 23:01Speaker 1: You can stock it up with one hundred sheets, one
- 23:02Speaker 1: hundred sheets of paper, and you can collate them. You
- 23:05Speaker 1: can make it tag them so you can put them
- 23:07Speaker 1: in a folder. Because I am a paper hoarder, I
- 23:11Speaker 1: have file cabinets of just papers, not in files, just
- 23:15Speaker 1: packed stacked up in the file cabinets. So I'm starting
- 23:19Speaker 1: to go through that five ninety W is available. Now
- 23:21Speaker 1: they've got a new six to twenty W that's going
- 23:24Speaker 1: to be coming out, and I believe that is I
- 23:26Speaker 1: think that's another photo scanner, but to compete with the
- 23:29Speaker 1: six to eighty W that is probably the top of
- 23:32Speaker 1: the line. What was the modeler for twenty W that
- 23:35Speaker 1: I believe is already out. The five to ninety W
- 23:38Speaker 1: came out a couple of months ago.
- 23:39Speaker 2: We had it.
- 23:40Speaker 1: We had it like a week after they put out
- 23:42Speaker 1: and got a chance to play around with it, and
- 23:44Speaker 1: I was impressed with receipts were good. If you want to,
- 23:48Speaker 1: you can buy a subscription to be able to collate
- 23:51Speaker 1: those a little better.
- 23:52Speaker 2: But it's still it's still made it very easy.
- 23:56Speaker 3: The six twenty is available. It's for twenty nine on
- 23:59Speaker 3: being right. It says it'll do forty five pages per
- 24:03Speaker 3: minut it or ninety images per minut.
- 24:05Speaker 1: It ninety wow, and it'll do even the small you
- 24:07Speaker 1: have those small pictures. You know, I was going through
- 24:09Speaker 1: my mom's photo albums because you know, I told the
- 24:12Speaker 1: story about finding my mom's relatives, and I'm finding more relatives.
- 24:16Speaker 2: We're getting more pictures.
- 24:17Speaker 1: And I found an old photo album from when my
- 24:19Speaker 1: mom turned fifteen, so that would have been.
- 24:23Speaker 2: Nineteen fifty.
- 24:25Speaker 1: And but if I don't know why they would print
- 24:27Speaker 1: the photo is so small, they're like maybe double postage
- 24:30Speaker 1: stamp size, but yet the scanner can handle them. Yeah,
- 24:34Speaker 1: just close them down and put them through. And it's
- 24:36Speaker 1: been it's been really good. So yeah, all right, we.
- 24:39Speaker 2: Gotta take a break.
- 24:39Speaker 3: We come back.
- 24:41Speaker 1: Got a good question in from ROBERTA. And I know
- 24:44Speaker 1: Sean has the solution, So we're gonna tackle that one
- 24:47Speaker 1: coming up with tech talk Radio. You can find us
- 24:50Speaker 1: on the web, drop us city and email tech guys
- 24:52Speaker 1: at tech talk radio dot com.
- 24:54Speaker 2: I'm Andy Taylor.
- 24:55Speaker 3: I'm shown the word. Like Andy said, find us on
- 24:57Speaker 3: the web tech talk radio dot com. We'll be right back.
- 24:59Speaker 2: Yeah, back to tech talk Radio.
- 25:02Speaker 1: Sean and I during the break were hot kind of
- 25:04Speaker 1: went down another rabbit hole of talking about digital capturing
- 25:08Speaker 1: and digital imaging. And it was kind of interesting because Sean,
- 25:10Speaker 1: you brought up a good point that I had heard
- 25:13Speaker 1: some trivia this week that a good majority of people
- 25:17Speaker 1: like aren't printing their photos anymore.
- 25:19Speaker 3: Well, think about it, right, look around your house. How
- 25:22Speaker 3: many pictures you have, pictures hanging up on the wall
- 25:24Speaker 3: maybe right? How many people have photo albums anymore? Or
- 25:28Speaker 3: picture books? I mean they might be in a dusty
- 25:30Speaker 3: old bin somewhere, right, But you think about twenty twenty
- 25:34Speaker 3: years ago, you could go over to somebody's house and
- 25:37Speaker 3: buy the fireplace, or over the mantle or in a
- 25:39Speaker 3: corner there was a shelf of photo albums. Yeah, so
- 25:44Speaker 3: you could flip through and see pictures. And now I
- 25:48Speaker 3: still have all the physical pictures that I've scanned. Now
- 25:51Speaker 3: they're they're tidied away and organized, and if I wanted
- 25:54Speaker 3: to go get them, I could. But I have a
- 25:56Speaker 3: whole corkboard full of pictures I think are fun, family
- 26:01Speaker 3: related that are just up there that I right go
- 26:03Speaker 3: over and look at and see. And it's four generations
- 26:06Speaker 3: of my family that I can see on the wall.
- 26:09Speaker 3: And people don't. People forget that when you touch those
- 26:13Speaker 3: there's physical touch memory, like set memory and things like
- 26:17Speaker 3: when you hold on stuff, whether it's an old polaroid
- 26:20Speaker 3: or an old four by six or whatever, that there's
- 26:24Speaker 3: just a mental component there that is so foreign to
- 26:28Speaker 3: some people that live in a complete digital world. And
- 26:31Speaker 3: I'm in the minority here on that that I would
- 26:34Speaker 3: I prefer printed images.
- 26:37Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean a lot of people do. I think
- 26:40Speaker 1: they do too. It's cool to be able to show
- 26:42Speaker 1: somebody maybe on your computer.
- 26:44Speaker 2: It's great.
- 26:44Speaker 1: Digitizing them is great though, because you can't share them
- 26:47Speaker 1: a lot easier with family members. You know, my cousins
- 26:51Speaker 1: that are in England. They've been sending me, you know,
- 26:54Speaker 1: photos back and forth. They've been digitized. But having that
- 26:57Speaker 1: print it is something about that I think, and I'm
- 27:02Speaker 1: worried with the number increasing of people that aren't printing them.
- 27:06Speaker 1: Some say, well it's because I can't print them. Well,
- 27:08Speaker 1: you could go to Walgreens, you know you could. You
- 27:10Speaker 1: could do them right there. They got a kiosk that
- 27:12Speaker 1: is very easy to do.
- 27:14Speaker 3: We talked about it in the earlier segment about how
- 27:18Speaker 3: I have all my stuff tied into Google. All I
- 27:20Speaker 3: have to do is go to Google and I say
- 27:22Speaker 3: print to Walgreens. In twenty minutes, I get an email
- 27:27Speaker 3: saying your prints are ready.
- 27:28Speaker 1: You don't have to.
- 27:28Speaker 2: Go to the Walgreens to do it.
- 27:30Speaker 1: Sitting there at the kiosk where people are walking by
- 27:32Speaker 1: and you look at it.
- 27:33Speaker 2: That's how we print.
- 27:35Speaker 3: We print all of our Christmas cards every year at Walgreens.
- 27:38Speaker 3: I doodle them up on the computer, I save a file,
- 27:42Speaker 3: I send it to Walgreens, and in thirty to forty minutes.
- 27:45Speaker 3: We have seventy five to eighty Christmas cards that we
- 27:48Speaker 3: can address the mail out. That's a great idea, Greens
- 27:52Speaker 3: Meer Walmart. You can do them on all of them,
- 27:55Speaker 3: and you can take you if you can take your
- 27:56Speaker 3: camera in or your splash drive in and do the Kiosk.
- 28:00Speaker 3: But those hardly those hardly don't exist anymore either.
- 28:03Speaker 1: Now if you want to, if you do want to
- 28:05Speaker 1: control it a little, and you want to print your
- 28:08Speaker 1: own eight by tens, you want to do your own
- 28:10Speaker 1: eleven by fourteen's, I recommend the EPSOM. It's the XP
- 28:18Speaker 1: and this is a printer that I've had for a
- 28:20Speaker 1: few years. The only thing is you will use a
- 28:23Speaker 1: lot of ink.
- 28:25Speaker 2: For this to do these.
- 28:27Speaker 1: You know, you get the you get the photo paper,
- 28:29Speaker 1: the glossy photo paper.
- 28:31Speaker 2: You know, you buy the ink. But you control it yourself.
- 28:34Speaker 1: Now, if you want to take it into again Walgreens,
- 28:36Speaker 1: that's going to be a kind of a quicker way
- 28:38Speaker 1: to go and less money. So I went to visit
- 28:42Speaker 1: my friend Joey who has lived it here in town,
- 28:46Speaker 1: and I took a photo album for him. I just
- 28:49Speaker 1: took you know, digital photos. Did the same thing. Went
- 28:52Speaker 1: to wal Greens had them print them, bought the album there,
- 28:55Speaker 1: put them an album and.
- 28:56Speaker 2: Gave them, gave him to Joey, so that way he
- 28:58Speaker 2: had them.
- 28:59Speaker 1: But I mean it's that, it's that having that print
- 29:02Speaker 1: is something, there's something special about it. You know, we
- 29:05Speaker 1: can carry them on our phone. But again having your
- 29:07Speaker 1: your own print to carry that makes it pretty nice.
- 29:09Speaker 1: Which I this this works into a pretty good segue here.
- 29:14Speaker 1: You have done Super eight movies. I know that you've
- 29:17Speaker 1: done that. How do you do that getting your Super
- 29:20Speaker 1: eight movie real, you know, into a digital format?
- 29:25Speaker 3: Well, I mean for the layman, I would tell them
- 29:28Speaker 3: to use Legacy Box because that's the cheapest and best
- 29:30Speaker 3: one that we found.
- 29:32Speaker 2: My photos does it too, Photos on the show.
- 29:34Speaker 3: Yeah. But I have a Wolverine I think it's called
- 29:39Speaker 3: a Wolverine Pro movie Maker. It's a really I bought
- 29:44Speaker 3: it during COVID when I got all my family's film stuff.
- 29:48Speaker 3: It's a step by step scanner, so it actually you
- 29:51Speaker 3: load the film into a carousel and it goes across
- 29:54Speaker 3: like a lightbed scanner, and it's got an immature like
- 29:57Speaker 3: an image processor that points straight down to do it,
- 30:00Speaker 3: and it actually clicks frame by frame, so it'll has
- 30:03Speaker 3: a stepper motor that pulls the film across and it
- 30:05Speaker 3: takes an image of each frame a video and you
- 30:10Speaker 3: can actually go in and overscan so you can actually
- 30:12Speaker 3: get the whole the leaders in everything.
- 30:16Speaker 2: Wow.
- 30:16Speaker 3: And if if I'll send a link to Andy so
- 30:20Speaker 3: you can post a link to some of the films.
- 30:21Speaker 3: But I think it was like three hundred and forty
- 30:24Speaker 3: nine dollars or maybe four hundred dollars for the scanner.
- 30:28Speaker 3: But that is time consuming, yeah, because it is a
- 30:32Speaker 3: it is a step by step.
- 30:33Speaker 1: I mean thirty thirty thirty frames per second.
- 30:37Speaker 3: Four twenty four to particularly film speed. I don't know,
- 30:40Speaker 3: I don't remember what speed these were shot at, but
- 30:45Speaker 3: I mean it's it. It takes a picture maybe two
- 30:48Speaker 3: every every every second or every other second. It's click click,
- 30:53Speaker 3: click click. Right, So you imagine, Okay, I've got dozens
- 31:00Speaker 3: and dozens of film reels, and I'm talking not just
- 31:04Speaker 3: the small ones. I'm talking the five hundred footers.
- 31:07Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 31:07Speaker 3: Yeah, you imagine frame by frame, and these frames are
- 31:12Speaker 3: very big. It's taking five six hours for a five
- 31:16Speaker 3: hundred foot reel to go through.
- 31:17Speaker 2: Yeah, and that's it.
- 31:19Speaker 1: And that's that's not upscaling. That's not generating, that's just
- 31:23Speaker 1: getting that picture.
- 31:24Speaker 3: It's just taking the pictures that the actual scanner does.
- 31:28Speaker 3: Put it into an MP four format, which is a
- 31:31Speaker 3: little bit of a bummer because I would like a
- 31:33Speaker 3: little bit more control because it does all the white
- 31:35Speaker 3: balancing and you have to kind of you kind of
- 31:36Speaker 3: had to prep it a little bit in terms of
- 31:40Speaker 3: the quality the image control. But it does a really
- 31:43Speaker 3: good job. That's why I overscan because you can punch
- 31:47Speaker 3: in and you can do some digital a little bit
- 31:49Speaker 3: of optical zooming on it. But I found that that
- 31:53Speaker 3: overscanning was better because you got the full image and
- 31:56Speaker 3: sometimes if you were if it got caught or bumped
- 31:59Speaker 3: or something, you had a little bit more leeway when
- 32:02Speaker 3: it was over scanned. I'm very happy with it. And
- 32:05Speaker 3: it's called Wolverine. Yeah, I'll have to go. I'll provide
- 32:09Speaker 3: a link for you. I bought it on B and H.
- 32:11Speaker 1: Kodec has got one out that is Super eight as well.
- 32:14Speaker 1: I'd like to find I would love to find sixteen
- 32:18Speaker 1: because a sixteen millimeter because back in the day when
- 32:22Speaker 1: I was when I was a nerd, I would go
- 32:24Speaker 1: to Star Wars and Star Trek conventions, and there were
- 32:28Speaker 1: vendors that were there and they would sell film reels,
- 32:31Speaker 1: usually you know, movie trailers on sixteen millimeter. To watch them,
- 32:35Speaker 1: I'd have to go to the library because they had
- 32:37Speaker 1: a sixteen millimeter projector at the good old Hunting Beach
- 32:40Speaker 1: Public Library there, and I could watch my trailer over
- 32:43Speaker 1: and over and over again. One of those trailers I
- 32:46Speaker 1: still have is the original Star Wars trailer, which you know,
- 32:51Speaker 1: and I saw it online somebody had it all digitized
- 32:54Speaker 1: and everything, and it had that music, it had the narrative,
- 32:58Speaker 1: and I thought I own that steam milimeter trailer. It
- 33:01Speaker 1: was kind of cool, but I found I don't know
- 33:03Speaker 1: anywhere that'll do sixteen millimeters conversions, so i'd have to
- 33:06Speaker 1: do it with Yeah, she know me that.
- 33:08Speaker 3: I'm not sure you're starting to add commos into the
- 33:11Speaker 3: price at that point, so.
- 33:12Speaker 2: Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. All right.
- 33:15Speaker 1: So I have to tell you about a little rabbit
- 33:16Speaker 1: hole I fell down this week.
- 33:19Speaker 2: And I'll be real quick about this one.
- 33:21Speaker 1: You're talking about film, and you know, I talked about
- 33:24Speaker 1: upscaling and I got a chance this week and I
- 33:28Speaker 1: did a segment on Fox eleven to get a look
- 33:31Speaker 1: at Topaz Labs Video Generation. Now, Topa's lab has been
- 33:35Speaker 1: around for a while. Topaz labs dot com. If you're
- 33:38Speaker 1: a photographer, they make all kinds of great photographic elements
- 33:43Speaker 1: and tools for the photographer. Maybe a photo isn't shaded properly,
- 33:48Speaker 1: or maybe just you want to work it a little
- 33:51Speaker 1: with maybe some color correction, you want to do some
- 33:54Speaker 1: you know, gentle tweaks.
- 33:56Speaker 2: On a photo.
- 33:57Speaker 1: Topaz has a wide range of different films that you
- 34:00Speaker 1: could use for your photography professional photographers. I'm speaking with
- 34:04Speaker 1: guy who we were talking about that who works here
- 34:08Speaker 1: at the station, and he was telling me, you know,
- 34:10Speaker 1: about how he likes using Topaz because when it comes
- 34:13Speaker 1: to doing some correction corrective stuff, it doesn't give like
- 34:16Speaker 1: a waxy look to the face, which some people just
- 34:19Speaker 1: go into Gemini and say here, you know, process this
- 34:23Speaker 1: and it just you just it just done. Doesn't look great,
- 34:25Speaker 1: looks uncanny. So I got a chance to look at
- 34:28Speaker 1: their video generation. They have a couple in there. One
- 34:31Speaker 1: of them is called Astra. What Astra will do is say, Sean,
- 34:35Speaker 1: you're out on a shoot, you're doing a video shoot,
- 34:38Speaker 1: and suddenly you want to get a slow motion shot
- 34:40Speaker 1: of something.
- 34:42Speaker 2: Getting that can be a bit of a challenge. Now,
- 34:43Speaker 2: if you have.
- 34:44Speaker 1: Premiere Resolve some of the other programs that are out there,
- 34:48Speaker 1: uh pro to you you can you know, you could
- 34:51Speaker 1: kind of work around and get a slow motion effect.
- 34:54Speaker 1: But what they have from Topaz Labs with Astra, I mean,
- 34:57Speaker 1: you can go way slow mode without lou quality and
- 35:01Speaker 1: it keeps everything up and it's it's pretty amazing. If
- 35:04Speaker 1: you're on the site, you can look at some of
- 35:06Speaker 1: their features. But their new one is Starlight Precise two
- 35:09Speaker 1: point five. So this is how I tested it, Sean,
- 35:12Speaker 1: I have a video shot with Tommy Chong from chiech
- 35:15Speaker 1: and Chong. Tommy came to Tucson back in two thousand
- 35:19Speaker 1: and five when I was working at the Rock station
- 35:21Speaker 1: in Town in Tucson, and we had them in the
- 35:24Speaker 1: studio and I had only thing I had with me
- 35:28Speaker 1: was I want to say it was a Logitech camera,
- 35:33Speaker 1: but it was three twenty by two forty. Yeah, that
- 35:38Speaker 1: quality is pretty bad. So I shot the video. It's
- 35:43Speaker 1: on our it's on the tech Talk Radio YouTube page.
- 35:46Speaker 1: So you know, one of the ones that I put
- 35:47Speaker 1: while I was working at that station. You know, we
- 35:49Speaker 1: started it I added it and it's still there. It's
- 35:52Speaker 1: not tech, but a lot of people find it, uh
- 35:55Speaker 1: and a lot of people comment on it still gets
- 35:57Speaker 1: a lot of so I thought, let's try with the.
- 35:59Speaker 2: Tom Me Chong video.
- 36:01Speaker 1: So three twenty two forty I decided, let's go twelve
- 36:05Speaker 1: eighty by seven twenty. It can go all the way
- 36:07Speaker 1: up to eight K if you want it.
- 36:09Speaker 3: I've seen that.
- 36:10Speaker 2: I'm looking at the website.
- 36:11Speaker 1: But I decided let's just do that. Started processing it.
- 36:16Speaker 1: You know that God was able to get a key
- 36:17Speaker 1: from the folks at topaz labs dot com to test
- 36:20Speaker 1: it out, try it out, and it started processing at
- 36:24Speaker 1: about I want to say, fifteen minutes in my computer
- 36:27Speaker 1: shut off completely boom gone. Wouldn't start up either, and
- 36:33Speaker 1: I thought, oh, what is it going on here?
- 36:35Speaker 2: What is happening?
- 36:37Speaker 1: So finally, you know, going through trying to turn it
- 36:39Speaker 1: on and off, throwing my hands up in the air,
- 36:42Speaker 1: told you had a bad tech week. I came back
- 36:44Speaker 1: to it. It had cooled down and I was able
- 36:47Speaker 1: to get it started again. So I just I'll do
- 36:50Speaker 1: it tomorrow. Let's let it, let it, let it cool down,
- 36:53Speaker 1: so let me see what else I can do.
- 36:54Speaker 2: With it.
- 36:55Speaker 1: So I tried different things and got about not even
- 36:59Speaker 1: halfway done.
- 37:00Speaker 2: Shut down the computer. It was so frustrating.
- 37:03Speaker 1: And it showed me though the piece of footage because
- 37:07Speaker 1: it did still create that the MLV file.
- 37:11Speaker 2: And when I opened it up, oh my.
- 37:13Speaker 1: Gosh, it was like I was shot yesterday on high definition.
- 37:19Speaker 1: I was so amazed by the quality. Little uncanny in
- 37:23Speaker 1: the eyes a little, but I mean he'd used AI generation.
- 37:28Speaker 1: It went frame by frame. It totally corrected it and
- 37:31Speaker 1: gave me a high definition output, although part of it
- 37:35Speaker 1: no sound. So here's a good tip for the tip
- 37:39Speaker 1: for us from tech Talk Radio today. It's the summer.
- 37:43Speaker 1: Make sure your computers are clean. Decided to give it
- 37:46Speaker 1: a try again, and I was sitting in front of
- 37:49Speaker 1: the computer and I looked at the beautiful lights I have.
- 37:52Speaker 1: I have colored RGB lights in the front, and I noticed, wait,
- 37:56Speaker 1: what's that on top of the fans. I took the
- 37:59Speaker 1: case cover off to get to the fan and I
- 38:03Speaker 1: had a, I want to say, a rug of dust
- 38:07Speaker 1: that was completely circling the fan, all three fans.
- 38:11Speaker 2: I thought, hmm.
- 38:13Speaker 1: So I went and got my little vacuum that you
- 38:14Speaker 1: had told me about some years ago. I got it,
- 38:17Speaker 1: started cleaning and up, cleaning everything up, and then opes
- 38:21Speaker 1: to open the side of the case and I could
- 38:23Speaker 1: feel that air. I started measuring the temperature one hundred
- 38:26Speaker 1: and eighteen degrees one hundred and twenty and then cleaned
- 38:30Speaker 1: it and I noticed it was running at a general
- 38:32Speaker 1: eighty eight degrees and it got through the entire process
- 38:36Speaker 1: without shutting down. So if you're trying to process stuff,
- 38:41Speaker 1: you know, you got to remember keep the dust out
- 38:44Speaker 1: of your computer.
- 38:45Speaker 2: It'll run a lot better.
- 38:46Speaker 3: Clean clean your computer. This is your yearly reminder to
- 38:49Speaker 3: clean your computer.
- 38:50Speaker 1: All Right, we gonna take quick break, we come back.
- 38:52Speaker 1: We have that listener email from Roberta standing by. I'm
- 38:56Speaker 1: Andy Taylor, I'm Sean de Weird.
- 38:58Speaker 3: Find us on Facebook at tech talk Radio.
- 39:00Speaker 2: Well we're back and now back to tech talk Radio.
- 39:04Speaker 3: So when we were at our pre show, Andy and
- 39:07Speaker 3: I were talking about what's which listener questions we're gonna
- 39:09Speaker 3: bring it in. He said, oh, I got a great
- 39:10Speaker 3: one from Roberta. And I said, oh, perfect, because I
- 39:14Speaker 3: have an answer for Roberta.
- 39:16Speaker 2: Yes you do, and I think you'd be the perfect
- 39:19Speaker 2: person for this. That'd be great.
- 39:21Speaker 3: So Roberta asks, says, love your shows, love your show.
- 39:24Speaker 3: Half of the stuff I understand. Half I don't, but
- 39:27Speaker 3: I listen and absorb appreciate that very much. I have
- 39:30Speaker 3: about fifty DVDs of my favorite movies and I want
- 39:33Speaker 3: to get them in my computer. Is it legal? And
- 39:36Speaker 3: if it is, how with like four exclamation points? Thanks,
- 39:40Speaker 3: We'll be listening and taking notes. ROBERTA from Saha, Rita.
- 39:43Speaker 1: You know, that's a good question because I know a
- 39:45Speaker 1: lot of people listening have their favorite DVDs. I don't
- 39:48Speaker 1: know if you saw this, but Kill Bill. They're coming
- 39:50Speaker 1: out on VHS, a special edition that's going to be out.
- 39:54Speaker 1: But people who have DVDs, you know, they maybe don't
- 39:57Speaker 1: want to they're DVD player, they don't have it, or
- 40:00Speaker 1: there were whatnot, and maybe they want to watch it
- 40:02Speaker 1: on their computer or yes, the big State with USB.
- 40:07Speaker 3: It's actually a very simple process. The hardest the hardest
- 40:10Speaker 3: part is going to be finding a computer with a
- 40:14Speaker 3: DVD platform in it. Yeah, finding a tower that has
- 40:18Speaker 3: a DVD burner or a DVD player in it that
- 40:22Speaker 3: can actually receive the DVDs. So, yes, there is a way.
- 40:26Speaker 3: And I just did this and I'm about to do
- 40:29Speaker 3: it some more because we had our neighborhood grab sale.
- 40:32Speaker 3: I found a binder of DVDs at a yard sale.
- 40:37Speaker 3: Oh wow, And I was like, wow, there's a lot
- 40:38Speaker 3: of good movies in here. And she's like, make me
- 40:41Speaker 3: an offer, said five bucks. Said yeah, there's no way.
- 40:45Speaker 3: There's forty plus DVDs in here.
- 40:48Speaker 1: Wow for five dollars five bucks.
- 40:49Speaker 3: A lot of them. I don't have a lot of them.
- 40:51Speaker 3: I didn't have. So there is a software that you
- 40:55Speaker 3: can get. There's actually two pieces of software I recommend.
- 40:59Speaker 3: One of them is called hand Break. It's Handbreak dot
- 41:02Speaker 3: f R. It's a French it's a French company.
- 41:05Speaker 1: Would you say of getting this from because you've got
- 41:08Speaker 1: to be careful, you know, right being camera software? Where
- 41:12Speaker 1: you're getting it from? Alternative to do they offer that
- 41:16Speaker 1: on their website?
- 41:17Speaker 3: Good question? I will look. I believe they do. But
- 41:21Speaker 3: it's handbreak, So if you want to go to Alternative
- 41:23Speaker 3: look it up. I'll look it up while we're talking.
- 41:27Speaker 3: But Handbreak you.
- 41:28Speaker 2: Download it dot f R.
- 41:30Speaker 3: Yeah, Handbreak that fr. You open the software, put your
- 41:34Speaker 3: DVD in, you let it process for a second. The
- 41:38Speaker 3: hand the software will let you target the DVD when
- 41:41Speaker 3: it pops in and you can set it to be
- 41:47Speaker 3: There's a handful of presets you can pick and you
- 41:50Speaker 3: click burn and it'll rip. It'll rip it to an
- 41:53Speaker 3: MP four. It'll include chapter markers, it'll include it'll list
- 41:58Speaker 3: all the files that found, and you can you can
- 42:00Speaker 3: have it do each individual file. You can just have
- 42:01Speaker 3: it do the main movie, you can have to do
- 42:03Speaker 3: all the special features, et cetera. The issue you run
- 42:06Speaker 3: into is there some of the DRM isn't supported by
- 42:11Speaker 3: handbreaking right. There's another piece of software you can get
- 42:14Speaker 3: called make MKV. Make MKV does DVDs in addition to
- 42:19Speaker 3: Blu rays, So if you have a bunch of blue
- 42:21Speaker 3: rays you want to rip too, you can get find
- 42:25Speaker 3: a Blu ray burner. And there's if you go to
- 42:27Speaker 3: the make MKV. If you just google make mkv and
- 42:30Speaker 3: find their website, you can find a lot of these
- 42:33Speaker 3: processes on what drives work best, specific drives that don't
- 42:38Speaker 3: work for certain drms, specific drives that you can flash,
- 42:42Speaker 3: do fir more onto to support certain things. There's a
- 42:45Speaker 3: whole community built on the ability to archive and rip
- 42:49Speaker 3: DVDs and Blu rays. So yes, it's legal, yeah, extent
- 42:54Speaker 3: the extent of my knowledge is you. I own it.
- 42:59Speaker 3: I paid for it. Right, there's a reseller market for
- 43:02Speaker 3: DVDs and blue rays. You can find them at yard sales,
- 43:05Speaker 3: secondhand shops, pawn shops, you name it. I have paid
- 43:09Speaker 3: for it. I own it. But if I don't have
- 43:12Speaker 3: a DVD player, how do I watch it? I will
- 43:14Speaker 3: rip it and then I can put it on my
- 43:16Speaker 3: Plex server and watch it however I please, on whatever
- 43:18Speaker 3: device I want.
- 43:19Speaker 1: Right, So, oh well, that's the other embarrassing thing. From
- 43:23Speaker 1: a couple of weeks ago, Sean our last what was
- 43:26Speaker 1: our last subject? Our last subject was Plex.
- 43:31Speaker 3: H Yes, we talked about it on the show because
- 43:35Speaker 3: we talked about Plex, and I had said, you know,
- 43:39Speaker 3: about six months ago, a year ago, they raised their
- 43:41Speaker 3: price to two fifty for the lifetime pass. I don't
- 43:45Speaker 3: think it was an hour after we stopped recording and
- 43:48Speaker 3: I saw an article that said Plex is raising their
- 43:50Speaker 3: lifetime pass to seven hundred and fifty dollars seve hundred
- 43:53Speaker 3: ninety nine dollars, and I was.
- 43:54Speaker 2: Like, crazy, are you kidding me?
- 43:55Speaker 3: We just talked about this. My ears were burning the
- 43:57Speaker 3: whole time, apparently, so I mean, I get it. I
- 44:02Speaker 3: don't get it.
- 44:03Speaker 2: I mean, yeah, there there are some other things.
- 44:06Speaker 1: Jellyfinn is one some people the one jellyfin and then
- 44:10Speaker 1: what is the other one? Mb MB Yeah, MB is
- 44:13Speaker 1: another one if you want to be able to watch
- 44:16Speaker 1: this media. But for ROBERTA, the if you don't have
- 44:20Speaker 1: a DVD drive, even if you have a laptop, does
- 44:24Speaker 1: this require a lot of power to be able to
- 44:28Speaker 1: generate and make the DVD? No? You?
- 44:31Speaker 3: I mean so ripping DVDs has been around for a
- 44:35Speaker 3: long time, right, yeah, ripping DVDs. I've ripped a ton
- 44:39Speaker 3: of my DVDs from when I was in high school
- 44:42Speaker 3: and in college, so the mid two thousands, I was
- 44:46Speaker 3: ripping DVDs with my Toshiba satellite laptop right with a
- 44:52Speaker 3: penny and four in it. So, and there were other
- 44:56Speaker 3: you know. Nero DVD Burner was one that I used.
- 44:59Speaker 3: There are a bunch of old programs that were you
- 45:01Speaker 3: had to pay sixty seventy bucks for it OfficeMax or whatever,
- 45:07Speaker 3: and you actually got a physical copy of the CD
- 45:09Speaker 3: and you install the software that way. Yeah, that's right,
- 45:13Speaker 3: Nero movie Maker, ROXYO Toaster. There was actually a program
- 45:16Speaker 3: called Toaster, which is how a lot of those DVD
- 45:21Speaker 3: burner type things became known as toasters because there was
- 45:25Speaker 3: a program called Toast that would rip and burn DVDs
- 45:29Speaker 3: like Toast, So but Handbreak kind of became the forerunner.
- 45:35Speaker 3: It's simple, it's easy. It it just does what you
- 45:38Speaker 3: needed to do. And if you're a nerd like me,
- 45:41Speaker 3: you can go in and tweak your settings and upscale
- 45:43Speaker 3: and you can do higher frame rates and do you know,
- 45:46Speaker 3: up your bit rate and all that stuff. But for
- 45:49Speaker 3: the average layman, it's pretty simple to just click and rip,
- 45:53Speaker 3: and it's gonna take time, Right, if you have a
- 45:55Speaker 3: two hour movie, it's gonna take thirty to forty minutes
- 45:59Speaker 3: potentially to rip based on the quality. Right, if you're
- 46:02Speaker 3: doing a single passing code, multi passing code, obviously multipasses better,
- 46:06Speaker 3: you're going to get better, better scan, better quality. But
- 46:11Speaker 3: for a DVD, it's standard deaf right, it's still five
- 46:18Speaker 3: I or four EIGHTYP depending on what region you're watching
- 46:22Speaker 3: it in or PAL whatever the path format is. But
- 46:25Speaker 3: I'm just.
- 46:25Speaker 1: Wondering, and I have to look at the program, and
- 46:28Speaker 1: I don't have it on this system though, VLC, which
- 46:31Speaker 1: is a great program.
- 46:32Speaker 3: The Smith's Army Knife of media players. It really is.
- 46:35Speaker 2: I mean I have been able to watch like old Flash.
- 46:38Speaker 1: So we used to shoot videos here at the station
- 46:40Speaker 1: and we put them in Flash format, and you know,
- 46:43Speaker 1: the tapes are long gone.
- 46:44Speaker 2: We would just do it and export it to Flash.
- 46:47Speaker 1: And I have the Flash video files, but you don't
- 46:50Speaker 1: have the aviis that we originally created. So it was
- 46:53Speaker 1: cool to be able to go back and actually convert those.
- 46:56Speaker 1: But using VLC you can watch some of that stuff.
- 46:59Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 46:59Speaker 3: So even if I'm on my computer and like if
- 47:02Speaker 3: I don't have Plex running, I have a shared media
- 47:06Speaker 3: drive on my PLEX server that I can just watch
- 47:09Speaker 3: the files in VLC. So VLC is a it's called
- 47:15Speaker 3: the Video Land. That's the name of the company that
- 47:18Speaker 3: makes it. It's the best media player for playing I
- 47:23Speaker 3: don't even know how many media types it plays. It
- 47:25Speaker 3: plays all of them.
- 47:27Speaker 2: And it's a free program.
- 47:29Speaker 3: Yeah, it's free. You can donate if you want. It's
- 47:31Speaker 3: open source, so if if somebody wants to make a
- 47:34Speaker 3: fork of it, and you know, they just have to
- 47:36Speaker 3: be able to provide that platform and any new code
- 47:39Speaker 3: they make for free. But it's it's free VLC dot
- 47:45Speaker 3: org and you can download the traffic cone, it's a
- 47:47Speaker 3: symbol for they. But yeah, so handbreak, make mkv VLC.
- 47:55Speaker 3: You're off and running. You're off for the races.
- 47:56Speaker 2: I like what is doing.
- 47:59Speaker 1: You'll find a little better if she's doing blu ray
- 48:02Speaker 1: using make mkav uh, you know, being able to keep
- 48:06Speaker 1: that up. But honestly, if she's you know, she just
- 48:08Speaker 1: wants to be able to watch them when she wants.
- 48:09Speaker 2: To watch them.
- 48:10Speaker 3: So on the topic of watching right right, Ah, I
- 48:14Speaker 3: have flex on my TV, which we watch a lot
- 48:18Speaker 3: of movies that we own.
- 48:19Speaker 2: What size TV screen was?
- 48:21Speaker 3: It was a fifty five inch until one of my
- 48:25Speaker 3: boys decided to throw a block at his brother and
- 48:29Speaker 3: hit the TV instead.
- 48:31Speaker 2: Oh no, instantaneous.
- 48:34Speaker 3: Yeah, So it's spider web pretty much right at the top.
- 48:37Speaker 3: And we suffered through it, and the boys understood that
- 48:40Speaker 3: they damaged the TV. They we're not buying a new
- 48:42Speaker 3: TV right away, right, and so we survived with us
- 48:46Speaker 3: a little bit of a spider web, not too bad.
- 48:48Speaker 3: You can still see most of the image was fine.
- 48:51Speaker 3: And this past weekend, Caitlin was out shopping at Costco
- 48:54Speaker 3: and we were talking about, well, why don't we just
- 48:56Speaker 3: we're planning on getting a new TV. Well, the boys
- 48:58Speaker 3: are being better about not throwing stuff at it, and
- 49:02Speaker 3: Daniel must have sensed our energy about us potentially wanted
- 49:05Speaker 3: to buy a new TV because he went up and
- 49:07Speaker 3: smacked the TV and it completely It's straight lines all
- 49:13Speaker 3: the way across the entire rammage. Now. I sent Andy
- 49:15Speaker 3: a picture of it earlier. Yeah, and then like twenty
- 49:19Speaker 3: minutes later, kating this something me, Hey, I found this TV.
- 49:21Speaker 3: Do you think I should buy it? I said, this,
- 49:24Speaker 3: Dandy hadn't it. It was a whole thing. So I
- 49:26Speaker 3: ended up going back to Costco later and buying a
- 49:29Speaker 3: new fifty five inch TV. We bought a tcl TV,
- 49:35Speaker 3: which is the same brand we had before, but it's
- 49:38Speaker 3: not a Roku TV, it's a Google Smart TV, so
- 49:44Speaker 3: having to adapt, we haven't plugged it and he's still
- 49:46Speaker 3: in the box upstairs. This was this past weekend, so
- 49:50Speaker 3: we've got a new TV. The old TV's out, But
- 49:54Speaker 3: in the interim we took a thirty two inch TV
- 49:57Speaker 3: that Caitlin had. It's a Sony Visio from like right
- 50:02Speaker 3: thousand and nine. It works right and it still works
- 50:04Speaker 3: and you can actually put apps on it. And but
- 50:08Speaker 3: we have an Apple TV plugged into it, so I
- 50:10Speaker 3: had to put I got you know, we can do
- 50:11Speaker 3: all of our pluck stuff with the Apple TV. H
- 50:14Speaker 3: so it's still working. And but it's just been a
- 50:17Speaker 3: whole thing with our TV where the boys just I
- 50:21Speaker 3: mean it's comical, right, I mean they're going to destroy
- 50:24Speaker 3: everything I own, which is fine.
- 50:25Speaker 1: But yeah, oh yeah, kids and TVs that that's pretty good?
- 50:30Speaker 1: Is that why you didn't go with a seventy five
- 50:31Speaker 1: or an eighty five? But the price right now is great.
- 50:34Speaker 3: You know, I don't think we're I it's hard to
- 50:38Speaker 3: picture this, right. It's like when I was a kid,
- 50:41Speaker 3: you had a TV that weighed more than you did
- 50:43Speaker 3: as a kid.
- 50:44Speaker 2: Nobody stole TVs.
- 50:45Speaker 3: It couldn't carry it couldn't carry them, and if they fell,
- 50:48Speaker 3: they'd kill you. Yeah, so you didn't knock them over.
- 50:52Speaker 3: They were on these massive TV stands, right, and or
- 50:56Speaker 3: they just gave you you know, they made you magnetic.
- 50:59Speaker 3: Yeah hecausing. So these small, thin TVs are so fragile
- 51:04Speaker 3: that a small I mean granted, this block had quite
- 51:08Speaker 3: a bit of velocity behind it when it hit the TV. Uh,
- 51:12Speaker 3: it did a number on it. And then Daniel just
- 51:14Speaker 3: went up and smacked it the other day.
- 51:15Speaker 2: To give you a five.
- 51:18Speaker 3: Yeah, but so now I'm worried, Like do I even
- 51:21Speaker 3: unbox this other TV? Do I even want to put it?
- 51:25Speaker 1: Like?
- 51:25Speaker 3: Do we just do we just suffer with this thirty
- 51:28Speaker 3: two inch TV? Yeah, but so we got into TV
- 51:33Speaker 3: so qled it was three hundred and nine dollars. So
- 51:36Speaker 3: it's not the end of the world. But we're not
- 51:38Speaker 3: gonna buy you know, an ol o ed for ten
- 51:42Speaker 3: you know, for twelve hundred bucks that could potentially get
- 51:44Speaker 3: ruined the moment I open it, right, So let.
- 51:48Speaker 2: Me back that TV again. All right, we gonna take
- 51:51Speaker 2: a quick break.
- 51:51Speaker 3: We come back.
- 51:52Speaker 2: We got more of tech talk radio. I'm Andy Taylor.
- 51:55Speaker 3: I'm shan to weird find us on the web tech
- 51:57Speaker 3: talk radio dot com won't be here.
- 51:58Speaker 2: Back and now fact to tech talk Radio.
- 52:02Speaker 1: Sean has been going down the rabbit hole here looking
- 52:04Speaker 1: at info. We talked about, you know, handbreak, we talked
- 52:07Speaker 1: about PLEX, we talked about make MKV. You found there
- 52:10Speaker 1: are alternatives to PLEX other than a Jellyfinn and MB
- 52:13Speaker 1: yeah ninety something.
- 52:15Speaker 3: It was a lot some I've never heard of, but
- 52:17Speaker 3: jellyfin and MB were the top two. There's one called
- 52:20Speaker 3: Melo Infuse Servio, I mean Android TV. There's a bunch
- 52:24Speaker 3: of defults.
- 52:25Speaker 1: As a reminder to you know, we talk about these,
- 52:27Speaker 1: these are a way that you have them on your computer.
- 52:30Speaker 1: You'd be sitting in your TV room. If you've got
- 52:32Speaker 1: you know, an app driven television, you get the app
- 52:35Speaker 1: for those and you can watch it on your TV.
- 52:38Speaker 2: It doesn't just mean content that you ripped from DVDs.
- 52:41Speaker 1: You've got a wedding video that's been digitized, or you've
- 52:43Speaker 1: got a video from a party that you want to
- 52:46Speaker 1: watch on the TV. You've got people coming over, you
- 52:48Speaker 1: want to show this video you put together.
- 52:50Speaker 2: This is home movies.
- 52:52Speaker 3: Yeah, all of the stuff that I've ripped from all
- 52:55Speaker 3: my family stuff, all of my family HI eight tapes,
- 52:58Speaker 3: do mini dv's, all live on my Plux server. So
- 53:01Speaker 3: I have a very select few people that I've given
- 53:04Speaker 3: permission to view from the outside that can come in
- 53:06Speaker 3: and watch these home videos so they don't have to
- 53:08Speaker 3: stream the my YouTube or I don't upload them to YouTube,
- 53:10Speaker 3: et cetera. But I paid for my lifetime past for Plex,
- 53:14Speaker 3: so that allowed me to do that. But and then
- 53:18Speaker 3: I was kind of blown away by this. But for handbreak.
- 53:21Speaker 3: There are one hundred and two alternative to results, and
- 53:28Speaker 3: of course the one that came up and I use
- 53:29Speaker 3: this all the time at work is FFmpeg, which is
- 53:33Speaker 3: a is a command line driven We use it all
- 53:39Speaker 3: the time for conversion of broadcast content to other formats.
- 53:44Speaker 3: It's used a ton, It's used a ton, an absolute
- 53:47Speaker 3: ton in the broadcast industry on the back end for
- 53:49Speaker 3: a lot of servers for media conversions. So if m
- 53:52Speaker 3: PEG is one, it's free, it's open source. There are
- 53:55Speaker 3: guys that people have made with it. A lot of
- 53:59Speaker 3: platforms are probably thought FFmpeg, but there are tons and
- 54:03Speaker 3: tons and tons and tons of different ones. Make MKV
- 54:05Speaker 3: is on.
- 54:05Speaker 1: Here right, so then you can find these all at
- 54:08Speaker 1: Alternative two. That's THO dot net right correct. Yep, okay,
- 54:14Speaker 1: all right, something to check out real quick. I'm gonna
- 54:16Speaker 1: see if we can get one of these to take
- 54:18Speaker 1: a look at. Uh. Logitech has introduced the new Signature
- 54:21Speaker 1: Comfort Plus eight point fifty L. It's a desktop mouse
- 54:25Speaker 1: that features a soft palm cushion for extra comfort during
- 54:29Speaker 1: long hours.
- 54:31Speaker 3: I feel like it's those wrist pads that we used
- 54:33Speaker 3: to get, oh god, when I was growing up that
- 54:36Speaker 3: I never used for risk pad, I used to. I
- 54:39Speaker 3: used them to beat my brothers with Perfect because they
- 54:42Speaker 3: were heavy and they need a satisfying slap when you
- 54:46Speaker 3: hit somebody with them.
- 54:47Speaker 2: Absolutely all right. That's it for this week's Tech Talk Radio.
- 54:51Speaker 2: I'm Andy Taylor, I'm Seanny Weard.
- 54:53Speaker 3: Don't beat up your brothers.
- 54:54Speaker 2: Wove notes till you next week.
