- 0:02Speaker 1: This is an Unspoiled Network podcast. This is spoil Me,
- 0:09Speaker 1: covering one Piece episodes eight fourteen through eight sixteen, Shout
- 0:17Speaker 1: of the Soul Brooke and Pedro's Lightning Operation, Goodbye, Pudding's
- 0:23Speaker 1: Tearful Determination, and the History of the Left Eye, Pedro
- 0:30Speaker 1: versus Baron Tomago. In these episodes, there are so many
- 0:37Speaker 1: great things. I really really enjoyed this group. It was
- 0:43Speaker 1: just a very fun time, and I think a lot
- 0:46Speaker 1: of it is because I'm getting to see some of
- 0:48Speaker 1: the other straw hats do stuff. Welcome to spoil Me,
- 1:12Speaker 1: Welcome to the show everyone. I am Natasha. Thank you
- 1:15Speaker 1: very much to Florian for commissioning this episode. You guys,
- 1:23Speaker 1: there's the thing with this show, because of how kind
- 1:26Speaker 1: of everything is happening simultaneously, I don't really have to
- 1:31Speaker 1: start at the beginning, and I don't think I will
- 1:36Speaker 1: if I'm being honest, I think I'm going to talk
- 1:37Speaker 1: about things in the order of how much fun I
- 1:42Speaker 1: found them to be, not necessarily, you know, fully in order.
- 1:48Speaker 1: But there are a few things that really stand out.
- 1:54Speaker 1: So one thing I want to start with that isn't
- 1:57Speaker 1: exactly like fun, but I think is really a great moment.
- 2:04Speaker 1: There's not a lot of soanjy in these three episodes.
- 2:07Speaker 1: Pretty much, we're just like hanging out with like all
- 2:12Speaker 1: of the other straw hats and only checking in with
- 2:14Speaker 1: Sanji when he is picking flowers and thinking about putting.
- 2:20Speaker 1: And it's really kind of interesting to me the way
- 2:23Speaker 1: that Sanji has like turned this corner where he had
- 2:27Speaker 1: been digging his heels in and very unhappy about everything
- 2:30Speaker 1: and feeling really resentful, understandably and resistant, and then once
- 2:38Speaker 1: he made peace with the way to move forward, it
- 2:45Speaker 1: feels like he has gone all in mentally and is
- 2:51Speaker 1: just letting himself be in love with Putting. Which when
- 2:57Speaker 1: I say in love, you know with Sanji, that doesn't
- 3:01Speaker 1: necessarily mean anything. I just want to like acknowledge that
- 3:06Speaker 1: it's This is one of those things where it's like,
- 3:10Speaker 1: this is not to say that his feelings for her
- 3:14Speaker 1: mean nothing, but if a girl is cute and not
- 3:20Speaker 1: actively horrible, and sometimes even not being actively horrible is
- 3:25Speaker 1: not a requirement, Sonji just kind of loses his shit
- 3:28Speaker 1: over them. The reason that this feels a little bit
- 3:33Speaker 1: different is because he has a period that we get
- 3:37Speaker 1: to see of him not falling all over her so
- 3:43Speaker 1: there is a little bit more of a sense that
- 3:46Speaker 1: there is something that this relationship is based on that's
- 3:51Speaker 1: more than just I saw her and she's hot and
- 3:54Speaker 1: I like women and that's all we need. So we're
- 3:59Speaker 1: seeing him just it feels like, really go for it.
- 4:04Speaker 1: In terms of this, like treating this as a genuine
- 4:11Speaker 1: relationship that he is voluntarily in. It's like he has
- 4:17Speaker 1: sort of surrendered, you know, and decided, all right, well
- 4:21Speaker 1: this is happening. I've decided it's the best course of action,
- 4:24Speaker 1: and if I'm gonna do it, I'm gonna really do it.
- 4:28Speaker 1: And I'll tell you what, I fucking get that. I
- 4:32Speaker 1: am very much this way. I have a very hard
- 4:35Speaker 1: time with change. I have a very hard time with
- 4:39Speaker 1: things that can be outside of my control. But once
- 4:42Speaker 1: I like decide this is how I'm gonna handle it,
- 4:46Speaker 1: I just that is what I do, and I go
- 4:48Speaker 1: for it very wholeheartedly, because it's just sort of I
- 4:53Speaker 1: need to take a moment and mentally decide I am
- 4:58Speaker 1: going to react to this this exisey kind of way.
- 5:03Speaker 1: And so his like leaning into it all actually makes
- 5:08Speaker 1: a lot of sense to me. It's like he's got
- 5:10Speaker 1: these two conflicting versions of his not exactly versions of
- 5:14Speaker 1: his personality, but two conflicting priorities. And one is the
- 5:19Speaker 1: straw hats and being with them and adventuring, and the
- 5:22Speaker 1: other is just cooking and loving ladies. And he has
- 5:26Speaker 1: decided he can't have it all and he has to
- 5:28Speaker 1: pick one. And there is one of those things that's
- 5:31Speaker 1: going to hurt his friends and maybe hurt him and
- 5:34Speaker 1: maybe hurt Pudding, and the other that is going to
- 5:37Speaker 1: keep all of them alive. I really appreciate the way
- 5:44Speaker 1: that this is being framed because it's sort of like
- 5:48Speaker 1: in alignment with the way I was feeling about this
- 5:50Speaker 1: whole plot line, where a big part of me was like, look,
- 5:53Speaker 1: I don't want Sonji to leave a straw hats and everything,
- 5:56Speaker 1: but I do kind of low key want him and
- 5:57Speaker 1: putting together. So it's sort of like the show is
- 6:00Speaker 1: also undecided a little bit. You know. Eventually he does
- 6:06Speaker 1: find out there's this guy that's sort of like an
- 6:09Speaker 1: attendant to him. I'm not clear on what this guy's
- 6:13Speaker 1: like deal is, but he is giving Sanji information throughout
- 6:20Speaker 1: the episode, like where to go to find the flowers,
- 6:23Speaker 1: and eventually tells him by the way Lufy and Nami
- 6:28Speaker 1: are in one of Big Mom's books. I am not
- 6:33Speaker 1: sure this man is supposed to be sharing this information.
- 6:37Speaker 1: There's a vibe for me that this guy just sees
- 6:40Speaker 1: Sanji as a royal and so he gets to know stuff.
- 6:43Speaker 1: But that probably if Big Mom were around, she wouldn't
- 6:48Speaker 1: really want him to tell Sonji this stuff, you know
- 6:51Speaker 1: what I'm saying. Regardless, Sonji has almost an identical response
- 7:00Speaker 1: to finding out that they are held captive that I
- 7:03Speaker 1: had last episode, which is to say, look, she gave
- 7:08Speaker 1: me her word that she wouldn't hurt them and that
- 7:11Speaker 1: she would let them go. I think she just doesn't
- 7:15Speaker 1: want them to fuck with the wedding, so probably once
- 7:18Speaker 1: this is all over, she'll let them go. Look, I
- 7:25Speaker 1: was like, pretty much okay with my assumption on that one.
- 7:33Speaker 1: Sangie is wondering about it now, I trust it a
- 7:35Speaker 1: lot less because, low key, if what she wants to
- 7:39Speaker 1: get out of you is you marrying her daughter compliantly
- 7:43Speaker 1: and without creating a scene, what does she have to
- 7:49Speaker 1: lose by not letting your friends go after the wedding
- 7:53Speaker 1: is over. Because honestly, in terms of what's what's the word,
- 8:00Speaker 1: I want it feels very rational, this assumption that that's
- 8:05Speaker 1: what she's doing, that she's just wanting to make sure
- 8:08Speaker 1: things go smoothly on the day and then she'll just
- 8:10Speaker 1: let them run off, you know. But that is when
- 8:15Speaker 1: you aren't a bonker's insane person, which clearly Big Mom's
- 8:19Speaker 1: a bonker's insane person. Like there's a lot of what
- 8:22Speaker 1: she feels and does that I actually do think makes sense,
- 8:26Speaker 1: but when you get right down to it. So really,
- 8:34Speaker 1: if you do go through with this marriage knowing that
- 8:37Speaker 1: they are being held, you are completely giving her every
- 8:42Speaker 1: card in your hand. You won't have any leverage at all.
- 8:47Speaker 1: And I already low key did not feel like Sanji
- 8:53Speaker 1: had leverage to begin with. I was surprised that Big
- 8:56Speaker 1: Mom was like going along with this deal that he
- 8:58Speaker 1: proposed at all, So now I am concerned. Let's talk
- 9:07Speaker 1: about pudding though, because putting is over here. She goes
- 9:13Speaker 1: and meets Lufy and Nammy. I appreciated Namy just being
- 9:18Speaker 1: like Lufy, shut the fuck up, because he keeps blurting
- 9:21Speaker 1: out stuff about their secret plan and why are you
- 9:25Speaker 1: here and you were supposed to help us, and Nammy
- 9:28Speaker 1: has to be like, dude, you are going to get
- 9:30Speaker 1: her in trouble, Will you please fucking shut up? And
- 9:36Speaker 1: what it comes down to is that Putting No's Sanji
- 9:42Speaker 1: is saying what he needs to say to me to
- 9:46Speaker 1: make me feel better. I know that he doesn't want
- 9:50Speaker 1: to marry me. I know that this is just to
- 9:54Speaker 1: kind of keep the peace, and I am going to
- 10:00Speaker 1: help you guys get him out. I don't actually want
- 10:04Speaker 1: to marry him with this hanging over our heads. What
- 10:09Speaker 1: a g putting good for you, girlypop. Honestly, I was
- 10:16Speaker 1: so delighted with her over this because, like you know,
- 10:21Speaker 1: she wants to marry him. We know he is framing
- 10:26Speaker 1: this simply as I am going to do this because
- 10:29Speaker 1: it's the right thing to do, and no woman wants
- 10:34Speaker 1: to feel like I am mature, I am you are
- 10:40Speaker 1: marrying me because it won't get your friends killed, and
- 10:44Speaker 1: also lamenting how it will be the end of all
- 10:46Speaker 1: your adventures. That's not a great feeling. I don't want
- 10:50Speaker 1: that to be the energy of us getting married. And
- 10:56Speaker 1: I like to think that with Putting, it's like a
- 10:59Speaker 1: combination of she knows Sanji won't be happy, but also
- 11:03Speaker 1: that she's got like some self respect here and doesn't
- 11:06Speaker 1: want a marriage that has that like cloud hanging over it.
- 11:11Speaker 1: You know, I was just so pleased with her because
- 11:14Speaker 1: you guys know, I was really not sure how to
- 11:17Speaker 1: see her, and there were times where I wondered, is
- 11:20Speaker 1: she actually trying to help or not? And I just
- 11:24Speaker 1: consistently am delighted by her, and it just makes me
- 11:28Speaker 1: wanted him to marry her more. Like, Actually, oh my god,
- 11:34Speaker 1: I'm so sorry. I just saw Burnadette say she's such
- 11:36Speaker 1: a g that's putting with a double G, the opposite
- 11:39Speaker 1: of southern pudding. I really like it. She's putting good,
- 11:43Speaker 1: putting good. So oh sorry, Florien says, eggplant shaped dude,
- 11:51Speaker 1: I forgot that. He suggests to Sangi too, because Sonji's
- 11:54Speaker 1: getting ingredients together to make a dinner and this dude suggests,
- 11:58Speaker 1: which I think eggplant is vile. It's so slimy, I
- 12:02Speaker 1: just know. But I do think it's weird to be like,
- 12:06Speaker 1: I look like a vegetable. So I'm gonna say that
- 12:08Speaker 1: you should eat this vegetable. What are you trying to say?
- 12:11Speaker 1: There's sir, so that I just wanted to get out
- 12:17Speaker 1: of the way because it's it's more of like a
- 12:20Speaker 1: serious thing. But then I wanted to talk about the
- 12:23Speaker 1: fun part, the fun part which is Brooke, which is Brooke.
- 12:28Speaker 1: I Oh my god, you guys, his fucking attacks are
- 12:32Speaker 1: so cool. I really wish the show used him more.
- 12:36Speaker 1: I don't understand why he isn't like Front and Center
- 12:40Speaker 1: a lot more often. He is just fun in like
- 12:46Speaker 1: I mean, it's such an experience when he launches an attack,
- 12:54Speaker 1: it's a combo of like the music, but there's also
- 12:58Speaker 1: low key a stage show that goes with it, with
- 13:02Speaker 1: his like cloud formations and whatnot behind him. Also, he's
- 13:09Speaker 1: kind of putting on like you know, the soul King
- 13:12Speaker 1: is a persona, and it's like Sasha fears for Beyonce.
- 13:16Speaker 1: For those who are not familiar, Beyonce can be very
- 13:20Speaker 1: self conscious and restrained, and so she likes to invoke
- 13:25Speaker 1: an alter ego when she's on stage and be Sasha
- 13:29Speaker 1: Fierce when she needs to call up that like I
- 13:32Speaker 1: am that bad bitch energy. And when he decides that
- 13:37Speaker 1: he's gonna go into like his soul King alter ego,
- 13:42Speaker 1: the vibe is immaculate. The voice actor does such a
- 13:46Speaker 1: great job with like lowering the pitch and making it
- 13:50Speaker 1: feel really intense, like we're about to do something, and
- 13:54Speaker 1: every now and then just doing one of those like oh,
- 13:57Speaker 1: like rock and roll kind of exclaims, you know, it's
- 14:02Speaker 1: so good, it's so good, And I'm sorry Bernadette in
- 14:07Speaker 1: the chat blasphemy. Eggplant is delish, Okra is slimy and
- 14:11Speaker 1: not food. Okra, I agree, is very slimy unless it's
- 14:15Speaker 1: been fried twice. But you're wrong. Eggplant is still disgusting.
- 14:20Speaker 1: So the whole thing with Brooks attack, like I you guys,
- 14:26Speaker 1: the look of it, the way that he is able
- 14:28Speaker 1: to lay so many of these dudes out, and like,
- 14:33Speaker 1: granted even he acknowledges okay, these were a lot of
- 14:36Speaker 1: the like chest Peace soldiers and this isn't going to
- 14:38Speaker 1: work on all of the dudes, But does it matter
- 14:42Speaker 1: because it's just so rad the whole Like the way
- 14:47Speaker 1: that this green light is coming up behind him and
- 14:51Speaker 1: there's like a kind of second version of him with
- 14:57Speaker 1: claws and its mouth like really wide open. Excuse me.
- 15:02Speaker 1: I would go to a fucking show that had this
- 15:05Speaker 1: sort of imagery to it. Absolutely. I look, you guys know,
- 15:16Speaker 1: if you listen to the show from the beginning, early on,
- 15:20Speaker 1: I was very much like, why have they not made
- 15:22Speaker 1: a one piece theme park? And I really would like
- 15:26Speaker 1: to know the answer to that, because there is no
- 15:27Speaker 1: way that somebody hasn't thought of it besides me, and
- 15:31Speaker 1: I have to assume that place would be an absolute
- 15:36Speaker 1: money magnet. I really think it would be very successful.
- 15:41Speaker 1: And if we were going to do that Brooke, there
- 15:47Speaker 1: would be a few things that I would do. One
- 15:53Speaker 1: there would be a some kind of ride where you
- 15:58Speaker 1: are watching Brooke battle and the ride is because they
- 16:03Speaker 1: do this thing on a lot of rides now, which
- 16:05Speaker 1: I actually really like, but I know not everybody is
- 16:07Speaker 1: into it where you kind of stay more or less
- 16:11Speaker 1: in one place. The car that you're sitting in will
- 16:13Speaker 1: move and dip and stuff, and it makes you really
- 16:15Speaker 1: feel like things are happening, but it's almost like you're
- 16:19Speaker 1: getting faced with little tableaus as you go through. I
- 16:23Speaker 1: would be super into a ride like that where you're
- 16:25Speaker 1: like experiencing his attack as if you're on the sidelines
- 16:29Speaker 1: of some kind of battle. But then, you know what
- 16:32Speaker 1: else I would like is at six Flags, they have
- 16:35Speaker 1: these stunt shows, and they also have them at like
- 16:40Speaker 1: Disney and Stuff and Universal Studios, especially because they specialize
- 16:45Speaker 1: in a lot of like action adventure live action films,
- 16:50Speaker 1: and I would love if there was an actual stage
- 16:54Speaker 1: show of somebody in character as Brooke. If we can't
- 17:00Speaker 1: do that with a actual live action person, because he's
- 17:05Speaker 1: a skeleton and it might be a little bit tricky
- 17:07Speaker 1: to pull off, I wouldn't be mad if we did
- 17:09Speaker 1: a puppet, because I think we could do a pretty
- 17:12Speaker 1: dope puppet, and we could have a whole stage show
- 17:16Speaker 1: with like actual music that's been in the show, and
- 17:20Speaker 1: we could have this sort of like light show experience
- 17:25Speaker 1: that goes along with it, and maybe a little bit
- 17:29Speaker 1: of like cameo drop ins from other characters, like during
- 17:32Speaker 1: certain songs or in between, or something involving the an
- 17:36Speaker 1: audience member, you know, like that kind of thing. So anyway,
- 17:41Speaker 1: it just really why don't we see more of Brooke fighting?
- 17:48Speaker 1: It's always great? And then and then you guys, I
- 17:55Speaker 1: when I tell you I am not kidding, I laughed
- 17:59Speaker 1: so fucking hard I could not help it. He's talking
- 18:07Speaker 1: about how if I stop fighting now, I'll lose face,
- 18:12Speaker 1: and of course the moment that he says that, I'm like, okay,
- 18:15Speaker 1: here it comes. Oh, but I don't have a face,
- 18:18Speaker 1: So I'm mentally ready for the pun part of it.
- 18:23Speaker 1: But then he says, but I don't even have a
- 18:27Speaker 1: face to begin with. Do you get it? Do you
- 18:31Speaker 1: get it? Do you get it? And he's like screaming
- 18:38Speaker 1: get it to a room full of unconscious people. I
- 18:45Speaker 1: absolutely lost my shit. The it's it's so fucking funny,
- 18:57Speaker 1: you guys. The puns. I already live for the I
- 19:00Speaker 1: never get tired of them. Even when I see them coming,
- 19:04Speaker 1: I still laugh because the way he delivers them is
- 19:07Speaker 1: like it's always there's a little extra razzle dazzle in
- 19:11Speaker 1: the delivery that makes it super funny. But the idea
- 19:15Speaker 1: of him getting so agro after one of these jokes
- 19:20Speaker 1: because he's in a battle and he's just like kind
- 19:24Speaker 1: of I'm imagining him as being the way that people
- 19:28Speaker 1: get when they're on meth, where they're just everything is
- 19:32Speaker 1: very intense right now, you know what I mean? So
- 19:35Speaker 1: I imagine that this isn't even him posturing and being
- 19:39Speaker 1: like do you get it? Like a tough guy. This
- 19:42Speaker 1: is him high on his own supply after he performs,
- 19:46Speaker 1: and then being so psyched up as he tells this
- 19:50Speaker 1: punchline that because he gets no response from anybody because
- 19:54Speaker 1: they're fucking unconscious that he just keeps yelling, do you
- 19:58Speaker 1: get it? Because he wants to know. Oh, he's genuinely
- 20:01Speaker 1: looking for feedback. Nobody is awake to laugh at his
- 20:04Speaker 1: joke or say anything, and he wants that reinforcement. And
- 20:09Speaker 1: so that's how I interpret that moment. And I swear
- 20:12Speaker 1: to god, I think that might have been one of
- 20:15Speaker 1: the funniest moments of the show. I really definitely in
- 20:19Speaker 1: top ten. I laughed, belly laughed so hard at that.
- 20:26Speaker 1: So Bernadette Sayer says, there was a one piece theme
- 20:30Speaker 1: park in Japan from twenty fifteen to twenty twenty. Oh
- 20:34Speaker 1: that pandemic killed, did I bet? Oh that sucks. I
- 20:40Speaker 1: wonder what it was like. Look, when I went to
- 20:45Speaker 1: school for uh what do you call it, for theater tech,
- 20:53Speaker 1: I was in class with somebody who had a single
- 20:58Speaker 1: goal in mind. All of us were aiming for working
- 21:03Speaker 1: on the stage somewhere, but this guy in particular wanted
- 21:07Speaker 1: to work for Disney. He wanted to be an imagineer.
- 21:10Speaker 1: He wanted to work at the theme parks and help
- 21:13Speaker 1: create the sets that you like walk through to get
- 21:17Speaker 1: to the rides or even the sets that you actually
- 21:21Speaker 1: ride through. And even though I am not a big
- 21:26Speaker 1: Disney person, I still really understood why he was so
- 21:30Speaker 1: like fascinated with that. And if I could be on
- 21:36Speaker 1: like the brainstorming team for a one piece theme park,
- 21:40Speaker 1: I know that I would go way over budget. Nobody
- 21:43Speaker 1: should actually listen to me because everything that I have
- 21:45Speaker 1: an idea for is so over the top. But like
- 21:49Speaker 1: one Piece is over the top. And if you're not
- 21:52Speaker 1: gonna really go for it with the theme park, it's
- 21:54Speaker 1: not gonna work. So you had better have that fucking
- 21:58Speaker 1: budget in the first place, you know what I'm say saying,
- 22:00Speaker 1: I would eat that up because there are so many things.
- 22:06Speaker 1: There are so many things you can do. There are
- 22:09Speaker 1: a lot of properties out there that they will do
- 22:11Speaker 1: stuff in theme parks, and it's sort of like this
- 22:14Speaker 1: tortured attempt to make it work for a ride or
- 22:18Speaker 1: whatever in a way that it really doesn't. One Piece
- 22:20Speaker 1: has like a trillion things that work for that. You know,
- 22:23Speaker 1: it just lends itself to it. Because it was an
- 22:27Speaker 1: indoor theme park, it wasn't reopened after the pandemic, But
- 22:30Speaker 1: I don't know why, says Burnette, It was indoor, okay,
- 22:36Speaker 1: right there? No one piece is being on the open
- 22:42Speaker 1: sea exploring vast expanses views indoors. No, no, no, not
- 22:51Speaker 1: unless you are able to make indoors feel like outdoors,
- 22:55Speaker 1: and that is that is a budget on its own,
- 22:58Speaker 1: you know. But I already am not into what they
- 23:02Speaker 1: were doing there because of that. I know I'm being
- 23:05Speaker 1: extremely judgy. It's fine, I get to be judgy because
- 23:08Speaker 1: it's my show. Haha. So anyway, Okay, Brooks whole thing flawless, immaculate,
- 23:15Speaker 1: no notes. So then we go over to Chopper and Carrot,
- 23:21Speaker 1: and this reveal was great. I really really enjoyed this
- 23:25Speaker 1: as well, another moment of getting to see one of
- 23:27Speaker 1: the other straw hats be a badass and Chopper really
- 23:30Speaker 1: fucking doing his thing. He has not gotten to fight
- 23:34Speaker 1: in a minute, so I was delighted to get to
- 23:38Speaker 1: see this again and what it turns out, because you know,
- 23:42Speaker 1: we have Carrot hanging above this soup pot, and I
- 23:49Speaker 1: don't think that I had quite clocked last episode how
- 23:53Speaker 1: many fucking people are in this room with Brulet waiting
- 23:58Speaker 1: for her to serve them rabbit soup. But there's a lot,
- 24:03Speaker 1: there's a crowd here, you know, and what it turns
- 24:10Speaker 1: out is that the person who is hanging above this
- 24:16Speaker 1: pot isn't actually Carrot. This is one of the doubles
- 24:23Speaker 1: of Carrot that Brulee herself made, which is so embarrassing
- 24:31Speaker 1: for her. I don't know if it's just me, guys,
- 24:35Speaker 1: but like the idea that I have this cool ability
- 24:39Speaker 1: to make doubles of people, but then I don't spot
- 24:43Speaker 1: when somebody's a double right in front of my fucking face. Uh.
- 24:49Speaker 1: I would be so embarrassed. This is my own creation
- 24:54Speaker 1: that I'm being tricked by. Yikes, man, don't think I
- 25:00Speaker 1: would recover from that. That is just humiliating. And it
- 25:04Speaker 1: takes a while for this reveal, but you know, I'm
- 25:07Speaker 1: not mad at it. It's just like it does the
- 25:10Speaker 1: way that it turns out to because, like initially, when
- 25:13Speaker 1: Chopper is saying, the way that it's done is sort
- 25:17Speaker 1: of funny because Chopper has to just literally say out
- 25:21Speaker 1: loud the whole thing and what's happening to us, because
- 25:25Speaker 1: there's not really a great way for the show to
- 25:29Speaker 1: convey what happened this little oakie doke that got pulled
- 25:34Speaker 1: without it just being said. You know what I'm saying,
- 25:37Speaker 1: So Chopper is just saying, like what she thinks is
- 25:41Speaker 1: Carrot is actually one of the doubles, and he's just
- 25:45Speaker 1: like literally just telling us. And as he's saying that,
- 25:49Speaker 1: I'm thinking, like, really, how is that possible when it's
- 25:54Speaker 1: talking because they can't talk. And we get that slolved
- 26:00Speaker 1: pretty quickly because we get a carrot is high. What
- 26:06Speaker 1: I keep thinking about this is, you know when you
- 26:11Speaker 1: have like those drop ceilings and office buildings where you
- 26:14Speaker 1: can like move a panel out of the frame to
- 26:17Speaker 1: get up into the ducked work and stuff, and then
- 26:20Speaker 1: you can shift that like foam panel back into place.
- 26:23Speaker 1: That's sort of how I imagine this like ceiling area kind
- 26:26Speaker 1: of being. And so there's this big hollow spot and
- 26:30Speaker 1: Carrot is hiding up there and talking, and because she
- 26:35Speaker 1: is like above their heads and in the same vicinity
- 26:39Speaker 1: as the fake carrot, it sounds like the carrot that's
- 26:45Speaker 1: hanging there is the one talking. If you're really not
- 26:48Speaker 1: paying that much attention, which nobody is. Everybody is so
- 26:52Speaker 1: confident that's the real carrot, Like why would they notice this?
- 26:56Speaker 1: It wouldn't. I don't have a problem with it, you know.
- 27:01Speaker 1: And the whole, the whole way that this goes down
- 27:08Speaker 1: was a little bit puzzling to me at first, because
- 27:12Speaker 1: I thought this was going to be sort of a hey,
- 27:15Speaker 1: we're gonna do a sneak attack on her because she
- 27:18Speaker 1: thinks that, you know, I'm tied up, you're hanging there,
- 27:24Speaker 1: and so we'll be able to like instantly attack play specifically.
- 27:30Speaker 1: And instead, the way that it goes is they are
- 27:34Speaker 1: very focused on saving the frog that's actually hanging there,
- 27:38Speaker 1: because it's a frog that's transformed to look like carrot.
- 27:43Speaker 1: I am not mad at it. There was they were
- 27:46Speaker 1: like at first, when they don't do the thing I
- 27:49Speaker 1: was expecting, I was sort of like, wait, I thought
- 27:52Speaker 1: I understood the plan, hold on what And my initial
- 27:57Speaker 1: reaction was like, this doesn't seem very smart. But then
- 28:03Speaker 1: once I realized that it's like, well, we don't want
- 28:06Speaker 1: this poor animal get put in a stew either, I
- 28:10Speaker 1: was like, actually, that's great. Like even in his speech
- 28:15Speaker 1: about this, sorry, I was frogging my throat. Oh I
- 28:22Speaker 1: didn't do that on purpose, but that's funny. But even
- 28:26Speaker 1: in his little like monologue explaining to us what's going on,
- 28:30Speaker 1: Chopper says something like, I feel bad for the frog,
- 28:33Speaker 1: but we gotta do what we gotta do. And so
- 28:36Speaker 1: once I like kind of stepped back and realized, oh,
- 28:38Speaker 1: they're going about this in a different way because they're
- 28:41Speaker 1: trying to get the fucking frog down out of there.
- 28:44Speaker 1: I really I found that heartwarming. I just really enjoyed that.
- 28:49Speaker 1: And eventually what Carrot decides to do is dump over
- 28:58Speaker 1: the whole pot of soup onto Brulai herself, which is genius.
- 29:04Speaker 1: I should have realized, but no, I did not. So
- 29:11Speaker 1: while Bruli is on the floor, it's actually very funny
- 29:16Speaker 1: to me, guys, because fucking I'm sorry, I just saw
- 29:21Speaker 1: this stuff in the chat, Bernatette. No one said Brulet
- 29:24Speaker 1: is the brightest candle on the cake. I don't feel
- 29:26Speaker 1: like I've heard that one, but I like that, Saraphim.
- 29:28Speaker 1: Don't you just hate it when you have rabbits in
- 29:30Speaker 1: your ceiling. I've had I've had squirrels in my attic
- 29:34Speaker 1: and they are hell allowed. Bernantette says, ah, but I
- 29:37Speaker 1: love rabbits better than rats or apossums. Don't you talk
- 29:40Speaker 1: shit about apossums, Bernette. You take that back. Actually, I
- 29:44Speaker 1: kind of like rats too, but not yeah, no, not
- 29:48Speaker 1: in my home, thank you. Anyway. So what I was
- 29:55Speaker 1: gonna say, was that It's really funny because when Brule
- 29:57Speaker 1: goes down, the woman doing the voice acting, I think
- 30:03Speaker 1: that she is actually an older woman based on her voice.
- 30:07Speaker 1: I don't feel like that's you know, the voice actress
- 30:09Speaker 1: doing something to age up her voice. But I really
- 30:15Speaker 1: get the feeling that she's sort of I don't want
- 30:20Speaker 1: to say phoning it in because that feels harsh, but
- 30:24Speaker 1: I do not feel that she is invested in this performance.
- 30:30Speaker 1: And so when Brulet goes down, the way that this
- 30:34Speaker 1: lady does ouch ouch Hot Hot Hot is so half
- 30:40Speaker 1: hearted and so slow and without any real passion to it,
- 30:48Speaker 1: like you like, she's getting hurt. And I kind of thought, like,
- 30:52Speaker 1: is that just for you know, there's another scene later
- 30:56Speaker 1: where we come back to them and she is still
- 30:59Speaker 1: on the ground and she is still having this reaction,
- 31:02Speaker 1: and I just feel like maybe we couldn't go back
- 31:09Speaker 1: and retake that. Guys, Like I just kind of feel
- 31:15Speaker 1: like that was worth another pass. Maybe this is one
- 31:18Speaker 1: of those things because like you know, I watched that
- 31:20Speaker 1: video of the voice actress who does Chopper's voice, and
- 31:25Speaker 1: maybe it was a sort of thing where in order
- 31:28Speaker 1: to get the mouth flaps to match up. They already
- 31:31Speaker 1: had to do like sixteen takes in a row, and
- 31:33Speaker 1: they were fucking over it by then, And maybe that's
- 31:35Speaker 1: why she sounds so over it. I just think, if
- 31:38Speaker 1: you're listening, if you're watching this with a dub, pay
- 31:41Speaker 1: careful attention to the way that she reacts, because it is,
- 31:44Speaker 1: in my opinion, just like really not giving at all.
- 31:49Speaker 1: So Chopper, while everybody is distracted by Brule on the ground,
- 31:55Speaker 1: he goes real small to get out of his restraints
- 32:00Speaker 1: because she, you know, put the restraints on him when
- 32:03Speaker 1: he was in his like medium big form and thought, okay,
- 32:10Speaker 1: got him, We're all done, and then inevitably he's able
- 32:16Speaker 1: to get out of them in an instant. He eats
- 32:18Speaker 1: another rumble ball, and he turns into his giant, dead eyed,
- 32:26Speaker 1: terrifying version. I don't remember what the names of these
- 32:31Speaker 1: like models of Chopper are. If you guys want to
- 32:34Speaker 1: help me out with that, I would appreciate it. Bernadette,
- 32:40Speaker 1: you were talking about eggplants. I won't take anything back
- 32:43Speaker 1: about disgusting apossums. You are a demon. Also, I think
- 32:48Speaker 1: it is hilarious that a character named Brulet is getting
- 32:50Speaker 1: burned by soup. Sarah Fim says, heavy Point and Monster Point. Okay,
- 32:56Speaker 1: so heavy Point is the one that he was in
- 32:59Speaker 1: when he was and Monster Point, I'm assuming is the real,
- 33:02Speaker 1: real big one, right, and uh it's this is I
- 33:09Speaker 1: really really liked this, you guys. Last time I said
- 33:13Speaker 1: I was sort of over what was going on in
- 33:17Speaker 1: Brulais World because it was getting a bit one note,
- 33:21Speaker 1: and it really picks up with this. I liked these
- 33:24Speaker 1: developments both because it gives our like Chopper really has
- 33:30Speaker 1: a moment of executing a fucking plan here, like a badass.
- 33:34Speaker 1: There's a huge crowd in this room, reminder that are
- 33:38Speaker 1: all very excited to eat, and some of them, when
- 33:43Speaker 1: Chopper transforms, instantly clock this turn around and are just like,
- 33:47Speaker 1: oh shit. But that fucking giant alligator does not notice.
- 33:55Speaker 1: He's still sitting there with his knife and fork, ready
- 33:58Speaker 1: for dinner. Honestly, I really like I I like this alligator. Guys.
- 34:07Speaker 1: I'm just gonna say it. He's funny. I like him.
- 34:12Speaker 1: I don't want to hurt him. Yeah, he was willing
- 34:14Speaker 1: to eat our friend. But like you know, nobody's perfect.
- 34:20Speaker 1: It's fine. Chopper picks this motherfucker up and supplexes him
- 34:28Speaker 1: onto everybody else. I mean, it's really something the way
- 34:37Speaker 1: this dude fucking goes down and reminder that like the
- 34:41Speaker 1: minks all have this electricity ability. So the camera kind
- 34:46Speaker 1: of pans around the room and a bunch of the
- 34:48Speaker 1: other people are down and just twitching with electricity coming
- 34:54Speaker 1: off them, and uh, Brulet. I was like shocked because
- 34:59Speaker 1: I thought, for sure she's gonna get back up again
- 35:02Speaker 1: and she's just gonna be pissed. But Brulai is like
- 35:05Speaker 1: taken care of and the dude that we have to
- 35:10Speaker 1: deal with this is the weirdest thing. I don't know,
- 35:19Speaker 1: I don't know what to say about this, guys. So
- 35:23Speaker 1: this dude his name is like Choo Choo, and he
- 35:28Speaker 1: has like a train power and he's really like feeling
- 35:37Speaker 1: himself that he can go super fast and once he
- 35:40Speaker 1: gets up to a certain speed, nobody can stop him.
- 35:45Speaker 1: And there was like a part of me that felt
- 35:47Speaker 1: like speed isn't really like that big and like it's
- 35:50Speaker 1: an advantage for sure, but that's not all you need
- 35:53Speaker 1: to be a good opponent, but sure, and then he
- 35:59Speaker 1: says something about how like nobody can match this speed
- 36:01Speaker 1: or catch up to me, and you just see Carrot
- 36:07Speaker 1: come up and bite him on the back of the neck.
- 36:12Speaker 1: I do not know what this is. It's look from
- 36:20Speaker 1: what I understand, various animals bite the back of a
- 36:28Speaker 1: female's neck when they're mating to hold her in place.
- 36:33Speaker 1: So when she comes up behind him and bites his neck,
- 36:38Speaker 1: I really was sort of wide eyed for a moment
- 36:43Speaker 1: and was like, wait, what are we doing? I don't know.
- 36:48Speaker 1: I don't know if this is supposed to be like
- 36:52Speaker 1: a flirt or if I'm supposed to be having that
- 36:55Speaker 1: kind of context at all. It's just the way that
- 36:58Speaker 1: it's illustrated. Guys, her mouth comes in very softly, and
- 37:03Speaker 1: it's just a sort of gentle you know what I'm saying.
- 37:06Speaker 1: It just felt weird. And she is hanging onto his
- 37:13Speaker 1: back and puts her hands over his eyes and essentially
- 37:18Speaker 1: just won't let him see where he's going until he
- 37:22Speaker 1: demands that she let him go, at which point she
- 37:25Speaker 1: removes her hands. And he's already going at such a
- 37:27Speaker 1: speed that he can't even stop himself, and he just
- 37:30Speaker 1: plows into a wall and that's the end of him.
- 37:34Speaker 1: And I was this was a weird This was just
- 37:39Speaker 1: a weird one, I felt like I was missing something.
- 37:44Speaker 1: It just this guy is so specific. It feels like
- 37:48Speaker 1: he kind of comes out of nowhere. The ability is
- 37:51Speaker 1: so easy to like beat and handle, and what she
- 37:57Speaker 1: does in response to him is really weird. There are
- 38:01Speaker 1: just many questions I have and it's not important, but
- 38:06Speaker 1: I wanted to put them out there in case y'all.
- 38:10Speaker 1: Seraphim says it's just something Carrot does. Her doing that
- 38:13Speaker 1: to Lufy because every caused everyone to freak out that
- 38:16Speaker 1: she was trying to eat him back when they first met. Okay,
- 38:21Speaker 1: I guess we just haven't seen her do it in
- 38:23Speaker 1: a minute, but I forgot. You're right, she was like
- 38:26Speaker 1: chewing on his ear and like yanking on it and stuff.
- 38:30Speaker 1: That is still a weird thing to like just have
- 38:33Speaker 1: Carrot do anyway, But I guess it's meant to be that. Like,
- 38:37Speaker 1: I don't know, I think rabbits have the thing where
- 38:40Speaker 1: their teeth keep growing, if I'm not mistaken. I think
- 38:44Speaker 1: beavers have this as well, But like, basically, if they
- 38:48Speaker 1: don't have something to grind their teeth down against, their
- 38:53Speaker 1: teeth will just keep growing and growing and get too long.
- 38:57Speaker 1: And it's actually really unhealthy for them to not have
- 39:00Speaker 1: stuff to chew on. So maybe that's what we're referencing here.
- 39:05Speaker 1: It's just it's just it's the back of the neck
- 39:07Speaker 1: and it's so soft. If she had like bit him
- 39:10Speaker 1: the way she bit Loofy and like yanked, you know,
- 39:13Speaker 1: like pulling and stretching, it would have felt much more like, Okay,
- 39:17Speaker 1: she's attacking him or distracting him or whatever. It's just
- 39:23Speaker 1: that's not that's not the way it's done, man, And
- 39:26Speaker 1: it just feels funny to me. But anyway, it's not important.
- 39:30Speaker 1: It just caught my attention. And so once this guy
- 39:34Speaker 1: slams into the wall, I was gratified because we cut
- 39:41Speaker 1: to the little frog like just cheering because now he
- 39:46Speaker 1: didn't get eaten. I really love the fact that we're
- 39:51Speaker 1: just letting us know the frog's okay. We didn't need
- 39:54Speaker 1: to do that, but it's so appreciated. I wanted to know,
- 39:58Speaker 1: so thank you. She ate it a lot. And this
- 40:05Speaker 1: is when Chopper is like, Okay, now we can use
- 40:07Speaker 1: Bruley's power and hop in and out of any mirror
- 40:09Speaker 1: we want, so we can start searching for our friends.
- 40:13Speaker 1: Now I'm not totally clear on this, guys. The way
- 40:17Speaker 1: that he says, now we can use Brulai's power. Is
- 40:21Speaker 1: it just supposed to be that because she's unconscious. Whatever
- 40:25Speaker 1: it was she was doing to keep them from going
- 40:27Speaker 1: through the mirrors is like null and void. Because I
- 40:31Speaker 1: felt like there was something the way that this worked
- 40:36Speaker 1: and why they were suddenly able to go in and out.
- 40:38Speaker 1: I just didn't really understand. And if that's all it is,
- 40:42Speaker 1: it's fine. I just wanted to mention it, Bernadette says,
- 40:49Speaker 1: which is why the German word for rodent is nagat chair,
- 40:54Speaker 1: what literally translates to nibble animal. Oh my god, that's
- 40:59Speaker 1: very adorable. Actually, Oh, Sarah him right. The mirrors only
- 41:04Speaker 1: work as portals when she's near them, that's right, because
- 41:07Speaker 1: they have to put her on that cart and like
- 41:09Speaker 1: drag her around and it's a huge pain in the ass.
- 41:11Speaker 1: It is so funny her being on this car and
- 41:14Speaker 1: just pass the fuck out. And at one point they're
- 41:16Speaker 1: like trying to figure things out and they're trying to
- 41:19Speaker 1: wake her up, like Carot is just going stop sleeping
- 41:23Speaker 1: to her, and really's like eyes are rolled back and
- 41:27Speaker 1: she's groaning, and I'm like, she's not sleeping, girl. She's
- 41:31Speaker 1: like in a coma. They're what they want is to
- 41:35Speaker 1: interrogate her on which mirror they need to use to
- 41:39Speaker 1: get to the palace and find their friends. And even
- 41:44Speaker 1: if she were awake, I'm not really certain they'd be
- 41:47Speaker 1: able to convince her to help, but it doesn't matter
- 41:50Speaker 1: because she's not awake. And it leads to a pretty
- 41:53Speaker 1: funny sequence where Chopper is going through all of these
- 41:58Speaker 1: different mirrors, just yelling for his friends and shocking people.
- 42:02Speaker 1: There's a woman who is doing her makeup. There's a
- 42:06Speaker 1: guy who's in the shower, and after Chopper runs off,
- 42:10Speaker 1: the guy has like hearts around him, and I was like,
- 42:12Speaker 1: what am I meant to interpret from this? A lot
- 42:15Speaker 1: of weird stuff in this section, I guess, But yeah,
- 42:21Speaker 1: the the search for the correct mirror to come through continues.
- 42:31Speaker 1: So all right, I'm going to really really quickly sidestep
- 42:40Speaker 1: into Sanji's sister. We see her get snuck up on
- 42:49Speaker 1: in the rose garden. Somebody has a gun to her head.
- 42:52Speaker 1: They pull the trigger, but of course she's not dead,
- 42:57Speaker 1: she's just really horribly injured. Are we supposed to know
- 43:01Speaker 1: why she's out in the rose Garden? Am I meant
- 43:05Speaker 1: to know? This? I I feel like there's a missing
- 43:11Speaker 1: piece to this story. And that might be just on purpose,
- 43:13Speaker 1: or it might be that I wasn't paying enough attention
- 43:16Speaker 1: and I miss something. I was paying pretty good attention
- 43:19Speaker 1: this time though, So I don't know. But she is
- 43:26Speaker 1: like trying to get back to I'm assuming her own
- 43:31Speaker 1: room so she can find like medical help, and she's
- 43:35Speaker 1: pulling and crawling her way through the halls, and eventually
- 43:41Speaker 1: Pudding comes across her, and Saraphim says, my guess was
- 43:48Speaker 1: always She's just kind of sneaking around looking for anything
- 43:50Speaker 1: that might be worth finding out. All right, Okay, Florian says, nope,
- 43:57Speaker 1: mysteries abound. Okay, just as long as I'm not missing stuff,
- 44:00Speaker 1: because it can be very hard to tell with this show.
- 44:05Speaker 1: And Pudding is like, obviously because of who she is,
- 44:09Speaker 1: just deeply sympathetic and concerned when she sees her. And
- 44:16Speaker 1: I just don't know what is Auntie's sister's name. Remind me, guys,
- 44:23Speaker 1: because I just keep on thinking her of her as Poison.
- 44:26Speaker 1: That's like the name she has in my head. But
- 44:28Speaker 1: I know that there was more going on than that.
- 44:33Speaker 1: Let's see rage you, says Sarah Him okay, and that
- 44:37Speaker 1: means one or first. Maybe. I am really curious who
- 44:47Speaker 1: felt like shooting her, because my assumption, honestly is that
- 44:55Speaker 1: it's one of the brothers. I'm not sure she knows
- 45:00Speaker 1: who did it. I don't think she turns around in
- 45:02Speaker 1: time to see rage you means zero sis saraph him, okay, cool,
- 45:07Speaker 1: thank you. I don't know why if it's that she's
- 45:15Speaker 1: got dirt on somebody, Is it possibly just because she
- 45:18Speaker 1: was helping Soanjy? Is that all it would take? Maybe,
- 45:24Speaker 1: And she's not even really helping Sonji. She's like providing
- 45:29Speaker 1: the bandage to make his face look normal, like he
- 45:33Speaker 1: didn't get the shit beat out of him. But she's
- 45:35Speaker 1: not trying to be like, hey, you don't have to
- 45:37Speaker 1: go through with any of this. I can help you,
- 45:39Speaker 1: you know. She's firmly just still, I'm doing this to
- 45:45Speaker 1: expedite what my father wants. So I just don't really
- 45:51Speaker 1: have enough information to guess why anybody would want to
- 45:55Speaker 1: shoot her, not saying they wouldn't want to. I just
- 45:59Speaker 1: don't really have anything. You know. Might be that there's
- 46:04Speaker 1: a secret that we haven't even heard about yet that
- 46:06Speaker 1: we'll find out later. Possibly, so the whole Let's see
- 46:14Speaker 1: where am I. I'm trying to make sure that I'm
- 46:17Speaker 1: not missing anything, and I'm sort of bouncing around within
- 46:20Speaker 1: these episodes, like scrubbing in and out. All right, So
- 46:24Speaker 1: I guessts talk about the whole thing with Pedro and Eggman.
- 46:30Speaker 1: I know that, you know, he has his whole actual name,
- 46:33Speaker 1: but I'm calling him the Eggman and I so, okay.
- 46:44Speaker 1: It turns out the Baron and Pedro each are missing
- 46:51Speaker 1: an eye and the reasons for that. We get in
- 46:58Speaker 1: a flashback where it's Pedro and Zeppo. Who are and Zeppo?
- 47:12Speaker 1: If I'm not mistaken, is he related to the guy
- 47:16Speaker 1: that's on Law's ship? Is that guy Beppo? Am I
- 47:22Speaker 1: making that up? It felt like he you know, he
- 47:25Speaker 1: was another bear Man and he had a really similar name,
- 47:29Speaker 1: and I don't uh, okay, okay, I'm not crazy. Okay,
- 47:35Speaker 1: good Oh. I do not trust my memory these days,
- 47:38Speaker 1: So that's gratifying. Bernadette says eg Man is fine, as
- 47:42Speaker 1: actual name is Tommo, just the Japanese word for egg.
- 47:44Speaker 1: I knew that, and that's part of why I'm fine
- 47:47Speaker 1: with it. Saraphim says, Zeppo is Bepo's older brother. Okay, cool.
- 47:54Speaker 1: So they are apparently here to steal the ponyglyph in
- 48:01Speaker 1: the first place, right, that's the reason that they're here.
- 48:05Speaker 1: And they're not even really sneaking around, they're just in
- 48:10Speaker 1: town and they come across Oh my god, the lion guy.
- 48:20Speaker 1: I'm the names, sorry, but he recognizes them because they're
- 48:25Speaker 1: Minx and is really really excited to see them. And
- 48:30Speaker 1: it's sort of an odd thing because Peckham's thank you,
- 48:34Speaker 1: Sarah em because I couldn't really tell if Peckham's knew
- 48:41Speaker 1: the reason they were here. I do not believe that
- 48:45Speaker 1: he set them up, to be clear, because the way
- 48:48Speaker 1: that he reacts after they've been caught later, he seems
- 48:51Speaker 1: very genuinely distressed. And sometimes people will be distressed despite
- 48:56Speaker 1: having set somebody up because it all goes way worse
- 48:59Speaker 1: than they intended it to go. But I don't think
- 49:02Speaker 1: that of Peckham's. I believe that he really didn't know
- 49:06Speaker 1: and was just like pleased to see his friends. And
- 49:15Speaker 1: the way that this story is told, it kind of
- 49:22Speaker 1: jumps back and forth between the present and the past,
- 49:27Speaker 1: and the way that you're meant to be able to tell,
- 49:30Speaker 1: which it is is by whether or not Pedro's eye
- 49:34Speaker 1: is still there, which mostly works if you are clocking
- 49:41Speaker 1: that quickly, but I will be honest, there were times
- 49:44Speaker 1: where I got a little confused over because in both
- 49:49Speaker 1: it's him facing off against Eggman, and the first battle
- 49:56Speaker 1: that they have, you see they Pedro wipes the floor
- 50:01Speaker 1: with everybody. It's embarrassing, like it was like nothing to him.
- 50:08Speaker 1: It was like nothing to him, and he slashes out
- 50:17Speaker 1: Eggman's eye and then they get caught. There's like a
- 50:21Speaker 1: huge crowd of soldiers. They get dragged in front of
- 50:25Speaker 1: Big Mom and she pulls out that fucking Roulette wheel,
- 50:32Speaker 1: which we still, I want to point out, have not
- 50:35Speaker 1: found out what the hell happened with Jimbay, And a
- 50:40Speaker 1: part of me doesn't really even care that much because
- 50:43Speaker 1: Jimbay is boring. Another part of me is irritated that
- 50:46Speaker 1: it's like been this long and we still don't know,
- 50:49Speaker 1: but I'm not that bothered by it. It's fine. So
- 50:55Speaker 1: the punishment, like she's very intent on making an example
- 51:01Speaker 1: out of them because they fucking took the Baron's eye.
- 51:06Speaker 1: It's a big deal. And honestly, it was hard for
- 51:12Speaker 1: me to be mad at her here. I know that
- 51:14Speaker 1: like she's the baddie and YadA, YadA YadA. But like,
- 51:20Speaker 1: if I'm being completely real with you, all these assholes
- 51:25Speaker 1: just come up into her house to steal her stuff
- 51:31Speaker 1: and cut the eye out of this guy. She's meant
- 51:35Speaker 1: to be a leader. What is she supposed to do?
- 51:38Speaker 1: Not punish them? Mm hmm. She has face to maintain, man,
- 51:45Speaker 1: She's got to keep her reputation up and keep people
- 51:49Speaker 1: being afraid of her, and she's fucking doing that. You know,
- 51:55Speaker 1: it seems for me actually kind of they they got
- 52:03Speaker 1: lucky that they weren't just executed summarily. Now, granted, Zeppa
- 52:07Speaker 1: winds up dead, However, that was just like evidently that
- 52:14Speaker 1: was not the intent going into it. It was apparently
- 52:20Speaker 1: Big Mom like pulling his life force out of him
- 52:24Speaker 1: and not knowing that he didn't have enough left to
- 52:28Speaker 1: give it. One could argue that this was not in
- 52:33Speaker 1: good faith, and that she starts to pull the life
- 52:35Speaker 1: out of him knowing good and goddamn well it's going
- 52:38Speaker 1: to kill him, and just making an excuse as to
- 52:41Speaker 1: why it's not a big deal. But you know, it
- 52:47Speaker 1: doesn't matter when it's just so, I'm gonna I'm going
- 52:50Speaker 1: back because I want to look at the Roulette wheel
- 52:53Speaker 1: again and see all of the options, just to refresh myself,
- 52:57Speaker 1: because I know that they're all pretty terrible, and I
- 53:01Speaker 1: don't remember if I understood her power the first time
- 53:04Speaker 1: I saw the Roulett wheel, so it might make a
- 53:08Speaker 1: different impression now that I get how it works a
- 53:11Speaker 1: little bit more. Okay, so we've got lost head, lost arm,
- 53:16Speaker 1: lost leg, and then we have a queen head. So
- 53:22Speaker 1: I'm assuming if it lands on the queen's head that
- 53:25Speaker 1: means that the punishment is she takes your life. It's
- 53:31Speaker 1: sort of weird because she tells them to bring out
- 53:34Speaker 1: the Roulette wheel, but we don't actually see the wheel spin.
- 53:40Speaker 1: She says, you spin it first, Bear, and he looks
- 53:44Speaker 1: at her and scowls, and then we just sort of
- 53:47Speaker 1: zoom out and we see the wheel, but we don't
- 53:51Speaker 1: see him spin it. We don't see where it landed,
- 53:55Speaker 1: and it's just a strange choice. It goes right into
- 54:00Speaker 1: him getting the life pulled out of him. So I
- 54:04Speaker 1: didn't really understand why we did it that way, because
- 54:07Speaker 1: I was thinking that part of the scene was going
- 54:09Speaker 1: to be the tension of watching the Roulette wheel spin
- 54:13Speaker 1: and wondering how it's going to land. Usually that's the
- 54:18Speaker 1: point of having one of these wheels in a scene
- 54:21Speaker 1: like this is the agonizing tension of watching it spin,
- 54:26Speaker 1: and they just don't do that part. I thought that
- 54:30Speaker 1: was a really weird choice. I don't know if this
- 54:32Speaker 1: is something that's like there's a reason for it that
- 54:36Speaker 1: I'll understand later, but from where I'm sitting, it was
- 54:39Speaker 1: just like a in terms of storytelling, I thought, very
- 54:42Speaker 1: bad choice. And so then when we jump immediately to
- 54:46Speaker 1: her like yanking the life out of him, I was
- 54:49Speaker 1: sort of like, why is she doing? Like what did
- 54:53Speaker 1: he even land on? Or was it that she says
- 54:57Speaker 1: pull out the roulette wheel? But she tells him to
- 55:00Speaker 1: spin it. So I was gonna say, like, is it
- 55:02Speaker 1: that she just does this without even you know, I
- 55:06Speaker 1: don't know, I don't know what's what the deal is here,
- 55:09Speaker 1: but suffice to say she is pulling out I think
- 55:13Speaker 1: she says something like seventy years. And when she says
- 55:18Speaker 1: seventy years, I'm like, that seems like all his entire
- 55:23Speaker 1: rest of his life. Is that not true? She says,
- 55:27Speaker 1: I'll take one hundred years of your life, right right, right?
- 55:31Speaker 1: Do minx live longer than normal humans, because she has
- 55:36Speaker 1: to have known then that this would kill him. I
- 55:38Speaker 1: was saying, I was giving her a little benefit of
- 55:40Speaker 1: the doubt there, But if she's taking one hundred and
- 55:43Speaker 1: they live the same age as normal people, then that
- 55:46Speaker 1: was just like explicitly what she was doing. I don't know.
- 55:50Speaker 1: Peckham's is very very sad on the sidelines. He's so
- 55:55Speaker 1: upset by this, seeing this all happen, and the fact
- 55:57Speaker 1: that he's like still apparently loyal to Big Mom in
- 56:00Speaker 1: the present is I can't decide if that's real or not,
- 56:04Speaker 1: you know, okay, so Bernadette says. Also, Big Mom has
- 56:13Speaker 1: great taste when it comes to island design on like
- 56:15Speaker 1: other baddies. Looking at you, Moria, Saraphim says, there's also
- 56:19Speaker 1: numbers on the wheel that mark how many years of
- 56:21Speaker 1: life she will take if that is what is landed
- 56:23Speaker 1: on gotcha? And Florian says, yeah, we just don't see it.
- 56:26Speaker 1: I don't know why, Saraphim says, And no, much like
- 56:29Speaker 1: most games of chance, this is very rigged. Okay. So
- 56:34Speaker 1: it turns out that he only had thirty years left
- 56:36Speaker 1: in him, which is uh one of those things that
- 56:40Speaker 1: it's like, one, the fact that he only had thirty
- 56:46Speaker 1: years left to live is a little alarming. Is that
- 56:50Speaker 1: that he was going to die of old age or
- 56:53Speaker 1: you know, like he wasn't that old, So how is
- 56:56Speaker 1: that determined? Even like, I would like to know a
- 56:59Speaker 1: little bit more more detail about that part, because I
- 57:03Speaker 1: found that like that just arrested my attention that she
- 57:07Speaker 1: can tell how long you would have lived. And it's
- 57:11Speaker 1: not like she seems to be able to tell that
- 57:13Speaker 1: ahead of time. So you can't just be like, hey,
- 57:15Speaker 1: being mom, don't kill me, but tell me how many
- 57:19Speaker 1: years I've got left. Evidently she can't. I don't think
- 57:23Speaker 1: it seems like she has to pull the life out
- 57:24Speaker 1: to see. But how does she know? What? Excuse me?
- 57:33Speaker 1: So then she turns to Pedro and is like, uh,
- 57:37Speaker 1: I guess he only had thirty years left in his life.
- 57:42Speaker 1: That sucks. There's still seventy years Pedro that you have
- 57:48Speaker 1: got to pay up. And we go at this moment,
- 57:54Speaker 1: Like I was saying earlier, we were cutting back to
- 57:57Speaker 1: the present, So we go back to him fighting Egg
- 58:00Speaker 1: in the present, and then we go back in time
- 58:03Speaker 1: and we hear him ask if I gave up this Ie,
- 58:11Speaker 1: how many years will it spare me? And he says this,
- 58:16Speaker 1: but there's already blood pouring down his face, and then
- 58:22Speaker 1: the camera pulls out and he's holding his own eye
- 58:26Speaker 1: out to her in his paw. I am so sorry,
- 58:32Speaker 1: but that is some absolute g behavior. Can you imagine
- 58:41Speaker 1: he doesn't even make a deal before he does it.
- 58:44Speaker 1: It's not even like the way that he's just like, here, bro, Barter,
- 58:52Speaker 1: first do some negotiating. You don't even know if she's
- 58:55Speaker 1: going to give you a break for this fucking thing.
- 58:57Speaker 1: It's already done. What does she care? Like? Honestly, Big
- 59:02Speaker 1: Mom is getting credit for me for how often she
- 59:09Speaker 1: works with people who technically don't have any real leverage,
- 59:13Speaker 1: but she's still kind of almost it feels like going,
- 59:18Speaker 1: I like your Moxie kid. You know, there's a sort
- 59:22Speaker 1: of vibe to her of just the fact that you
- 59:24Speaker 1: even have the balls. This is what I appreciate, because
- 59:28Speaker 1: everybody keeps going about their negotiating the wrong way where
- 59:32Speaker 1: they don't have anything to really offer her by the
- 59:35Speaker 1: time they do the thing, and it just keeps happening
- 59:39Speaker 1: where I'm like, why would you do it in that order? Bro?
- 59:45Speaker 1: I just I can't imagine if she was just like,
- 59:48Speaker 1: oh thanks, I was gonna take your eye anyway, somebody
- 59:50Speaker 1: come kill him, you know, like what would happen? So anyway,
- 59:55Speaker 1: she takes twenty years off the penalty and says, enjoy
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: the rest of your life. And she does not say
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: how long that is, because once again I get the
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: impression that she doesn't know. So in the present, Pedro
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: he has aged, you know, quite a bit here and
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: Tomago is I said I would call him eggman the
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: whole time, and here I am. But he says something
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: about how you're putting yourself back in this situation with
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: big Mom after what she did, Like what are you
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: willing to risk everything for? And he also brings up
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: that he still has like phantom pains in his eye
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: where he was where his Pedro's blade went into his head.
- 1:00:51Speaker 1: And there was something about him saying that it was
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: kind of funny because on the one hand, it's just
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: the way that you'd be like, you motherfucker, you did
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: this to me. On the other hand, there was a
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: part of me that was like it quit whining about it. It
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: happened so long ago, you know, just like it still
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: hurts sometimes. Wham wahh, shut up. So Pedro is like,
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: they basically helped save my home and my people, so yeah,
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: I'll put it all on the fucking line. I don't care.
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: They are also going to bring forth a new world.
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: I really believe that. And he comes at Tomago and
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: he the way that this goes is so funny, guys,
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: because he we see and hear the like slice of
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: his blade and then we just see an egg yolk
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: in mid air and that's obviously meant to be the
- 1:01:53Speaker 1: Baron's guts, but it feels so literal that it's very strange.
- 1:01:59Speaker 1: I was. I mean, it's fine, but it was just
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: a little moment of like, oh, oh really, okay, I suppose.
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: And the last thing that we see in this trio
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: of episodes is Loofy, who is like twisting himself tighter
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: and tighter and tighter while he's talking to Nami and
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: she's like, dude, what are you doing? And he says
- 1:02:27Speaker 1: that he has a plan and they're going to get
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: out of here, and she's like, if you keep doing this,
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: because he's putting tension on his arms because his hands
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: are pinned in place, She's like, if you keep doing this,
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: you're gonna rip your hands off, and he says, that's
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: the idea. And I'll tell you what, I don't want
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: to see this nail go like through his hands. No,
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: I sure don't. I am not interested. Please can we
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: skip it? Can just skip that part? Just I'm just
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: saying so. Anyway, that is the end of this group
- 1:03:09Speaker 1: of episodes. I really enjoyed this a lot. I had
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: a good time, and I am really looking forward to
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: seeing I'm looking forward to seeing everything except for Loofy
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: ripping his hands open. That's pretty much where I'm landing
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: on this. All right, everybody, I appreciate you all very
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: very much, and I will be seeing you soon with
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: a new episode. Until then, to the little motherfuckers. That
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: was an Unspoiled Network podcast.
