- 0:28Hey everybody, good morning from the chicken coop.
- 0:31So let's talk about stories. So sometimes we have really
- 0:35great stories that we tell ourselves, and sometimes we have
- 0:38really crappy stories that we tell ourselves.
- 0:41And the reality is we are in charge of the stories we tell.
- 0:45The facts are simple. They're right in front of us,
- 0:47but we are in charge of what those stories come out like.
- 0:51You know, the fact is it rained. Let's just use that as a simple
- 0:55example. The fact is it rained.
- 0:57Now. I could say, oh, I'm so sick of
- 0:59it. It rained.
- 1:01It's so wet. And I could put all this
- 1:04negative emotion into it. Or I could say it rained.
- 1:07Thank God it rained. We needed the rain so bad and
- 1:11everything needed a drink and the pond was getting empty.
- 1:14And I'm so excited that it rained.
- 1:15I could be excited about it. I could create many different
- 1:19stories around the fact that it rained.
- 1:22I'm in charge of the story. I want that fact really clear.
- 1:26We are in charge of the story. Here's where it gets tricky.
- 1:30When we start telling stories that are disempowering, we start
- 1:35arguing for our limitations instead of arguing for our
- 1:38greatness. And we have options about what
- 1:40our stories are that we tell. So when you're working on
- 1:45things, no matter what it is, your goals, your day, going to
- 1:49the grocery store, everything comes with a story.
- 1:53And if you just stop and pause for a second and you start to
- 1:55think about it that way, you start to recognize I have a lot
- 2:00of crappy stories or I have a lot of great stories.
- 2:03And you want to be aware of it because here's what's important.
- 2:08As human beings, we are completely tied to telling
- 2:11stories and they mean something to us.
- 2:14We just like thrive in telling stories.
- 2:17They are an essence of how we have adapted and become the
- 2:22cultures that we are through to storytelling and what they all
- 2:25what things mean to us. But when we tell ourselves
- 2:28stories, that has a huge effect on us because it creates a
- 2:31reality around us. So think about it for a second.
- 2:37We can create a story that is so compelling that it makes people
- 2:41want to join us in building businesses or buying into
- 2:44whatever it is that we're doing. If we tell a story that's crappy
- 2:48about it and right from the very beginning and start saying
- 2:50things about how it's limiting, it's so difficult.
- 2:54Nobody wants to do it. I could tell stories all day
- 2:57long about how much it's amazing to grow chickens, to keep
- 3:01chickens, to be carer of chickens, chicken tenders, if
- 3:05you will. And I can create it so
- 3:08compelling that people want to all of a sudden go out and get
- 3:11chickens. Now is the reality that it's
- 3:13very hard work raising chickens. I, I think it's a lot of work
- 3:18sometimes I wouldn't say it's hard, but it's a lot of work.
- 3:20But some people might think it's hard depending upon the vision
- 3:23they have and the story they tell about it because it always
- 3:25comes back to that. So the point of this today is
- 3:31recognizing every part of your day you're telling yourself a
- 3:35story. Every single part.
- 3:38You tell your story about life with whoever your family is.
- 3:43If you don't have a family, what that is.
- 3:46You tell stories about how your dog is, cats are pets are.
- 3:51You tell stories about the food you make.
- 3:54You tell stories about your job, your Co workers, your drive to
- 3:57work, the kind of car you have. Everything is a perspective and
- 4:01a story, so don't you think it's worth having attention given to
- 4:07it, awareness given to it, because it's such a big part of
- 4:10our life? I mean, if you stop and really
- 4:13think about it and you're telling stories about
- 4:15everything, it's worth asking yourself, am I telling good
- 4:19stories or am I telling really bad stories?
- 4:22Am I telling boring stories or am I telling exciting stories?
- 4:26It's always coming down to that piece of awareness, that little
- 4:29simple fact about what am I doing?
- 4:32And if you can clear that up and you can say, OK, today I'm going
- 4:36to tell good stories. And you just start your day off
- 4:38that simple one simple fact. Today I'm going to tell some
- 4:40good stories. Instead of today I'm going to
- 4:43tell some bad stories. I'm going to tell some
- 4:45complaining stories. I'm going to tell some dark
- 4:48stories. Whatever it might be.
- 4:51It's just making a choice to say to yourself, OK, I'm going to
- 4:54start telling better stories than I have and see what happens
- 4:58because they are energetically charged.
- 5:02They're going to bring things to you.
- 5:04They're going to push things away from you.
- 5:06Understanding the stories you tell could not be more of a
- 5:10magnetic thing that you're putting out there.
- 5:12So go look at your stories, be very observant of them, make
- 5:17decisions to tell good ones, and see what happens throughout your
- 5:20day. All right, my friends, I hope
- 5:22you have a blessed, happy storytelling day and I will see
- 5:25you all tomorrow. Bye.
