Latest / The Cubby and Christine Morning Show / Why Time Goes Faster As We Get Older
Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Why is it as we get older, time goes by faster?
- 0:04Speaker 1: I've heard of different analogies and reasons why, but I
- 0:08Speaker 1: haven't heard this one apparently, Christine.
- 0:11Speaker 2: Yeah, scientists are trying to explain it like this. At
- 0:14Speaker 2: age 10, one year of life represents 10% of everything
- 0:19Speaker 2: you've ever experienced. By age 50, that same year represents
- 0:24Speaker 2: just 2% of your life experience. So each new year
- 0:29Speaker 2: of life decreases as a fraction of the whole.
- 0:35Speaker 3: There's math involved, man.
- 0:36Speaker 2: There's math involved.
- 0:39Speaker 1: But so basically, when you're 10 years old, you've only
- 0:42Speaker 1: done 10 years once. Mm-hmm.
- 0:45Speaker 3: When you're 20 years old.
- 0:46Speaker 2: So it'll seem longer.
- 0:47Speaker 3: You've done it twice.
- 0:48Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 0:49Speaker 3: Am I making sense?
- 0:50Speaker 2: I think you're getting it, yeah.
- 0:52Speaker 3: When I'm 30, I've done it three times.
- 0:55Speaker 1: Mm-hmm. Now by 50, you're like, all right, I've done
- 0:58Speaker 1: this decade thing five times.
- 1:00Speaker 2: Right.
- 1:00Speaker 3: I'm getting in the habit. I'm getting in the flow.
- 1:02Speaker 2: Age 50, that same year represents just 2% of your
- 1:05Speaker 2: life experience. So yeah. So it's moving fast.
- 1:09Speaker 3: Moving fast. I don't like it at all. No.
- 1:11Speaker 1: Because I remember as a kid, so today's September 21st.
- 1:15Speaker 1: If I was 10 years old, I remember going, you know,
- 1:18Speaker 1: I want this for Christmas.
- 1:19Speaker 3: But it's so far away. Yes.
- 1:21Speaker 1: And mom would say, no, it's not that far away.
- 1:23Speaker 1: I'm like, no, it's September 21st. Christmas is a long
- 1:26Speaker 1: way away.
- 1:27Speaker 2: It would feel like it was forever away. Sure.
- 1:29Speaker 3: Now as an adult, it's going to be here tomorrow
- 1:32Speaker 3: pretty much.
- 1:32Speaker 1: It is.
- 1:33Speaker 3: It's just I want to hit the brakes sometimes.
- 1:35Speaker 2: It's exactly going to be here tomorrow. Yes.
- 1:37Speaker 3: All right. Hit us up.
- 1:38Speaker 1: 44363. We're on text. What is your personal belief on
- 1:43Speaker 1: why time flies? Is it part of that whole equation
- 1:46Speaker 1: that you just mentioned?
- 1:47Speaker 3: It's a pretty good one. It's a pretty good theory.
- 1:48Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:49Speaker 3: Interesting, right? What do you have coming up in the news?
- 1:51Speaker 2: Let's check out the headlines and scientists have discovered something
- 1:54Speaker 2: new on the moon.
- 1:55Speaker 1: I'm
