Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Welcome to another episode of Inside the Charge, where we
- 0:03Speaker 1: feature our athletes off the field. We're also talking a
- 0:06Speaker 1: little bit of football here today because we've got running
- 0:09Speaker 1: back Ty Johnson joining us. We're gonna talk merch, we're
- 0:12Speaker 1: gonna talk vibes, we're gonna talk music and everything. It's
- 0:16Speaker 1: gonna be a great episode. All right, Ty, thanks for
- 0:28Speaker 1: joining us on today's episode of Inside the Charge. It's
- 0:31Speaker 1: been a fun start to the season for you. You've
- 0:34Speaker 1: been involved in a lot and when I think about
- 0:37Speaker 1: your involvement in the offense so far this season, you
- 0:40Speaker 1: had some big plays. What type of wrinkle do you
- 0:43Speaker 1: add to the offense, It's.
- 0:46Speaker 2: A very bland response. Was like just a spark.
- 0:49Speaker 3: I mean, you know, off of limited opportunities, just producing
- 0:54Speaker 3: trying to make a big play.
- 0:56Speaker 2: That's it. Like they call my number, I'm like, hey,
- 0:57Speaker 2: I'm here, let's go. So that's it.
- 0:59Speaker 3: Just having the patience and really just knowing the playbook
- 1:04Speaker 3: inside it out and being able to talk to Josh,
- 1:05Speaker 3: Bob protections and stuff, talk to Joe, coach Chrome skip
- 1:09Speaker 3: about all those things.
- 1:10Speaker 2: Just really scheme.
- 1:10Speaker 3: So it's really all it's like came to fruition with
- 1:15Speaker 3: all of it realistically.
- 1:16Speaker 1: You mentioned limited opportunities. What type of mindset do you
- 1:20Speaker 1: have to have going into the game when your number
- 1:23Speaker 1: is called because you know, hey, I might only get
- 1:26Speaker 1: a few of these in this game.
- 1:28Speaker 3: Really is just the preparation, like understanding like, Okay, when
- 1:31Speaker 3: I get called, do I know what I'm doing? And
- 1:34Speaker 3: that's really and then execute. So prepare all week and
- 1:37Speaker 3: then just execute when the time comes. There's nothing to
- 1:39Speaker 3: ever be nervous about, or get in my head about
- 1:41Speaker 3: or anything or have any type of fear that I'm
- 1:43Speaker 3: gonna have a mistake. It's really just do I know
- 1:45Speaker 3: my playbook? Do I know the scheme this week?
- 1:47Speaker 2: Yes? What else there is to.
- 1:49Speaker 1: Do except execute the conversations that you have with offensive
- 1:52Speaker 1: coordinator Joe Brady or quarterback Josh Allen? What do those
- 1:55Speaker 1: look like throughout a game week to make sure come
- 1:58Speaker 1: game time we're all in this same page where Gucci,
- 2:00Speaker 1: we're ready to go.
- 2:01Speaker 3: It's really simple, you know. It's just asking certain questions
- 2:04Speaker 3: with certain looks and be like, hey, like are we
- 2:05Speaker 3: thinking this or we might adjust to this. They're like, nah,
- 2:08Speaker 3: We're going to do this, And I was like, cool,
- 2:10Speaker 3: That's all I need to know, they don't have to
- 2:11Speaker 3: make it complicated. You know what I'm saying, This is
- 2:13Speaker 3: a very realistic, is a very simple game. It's a
- 2:15Speaker 3: kid's game, you know what I'm saying. We're blessed to
- 2:17Speaker 3: make a King's Ransom, but it's a really simple game.
- 2:20Speaker 3: So just keep it simple and play.
- 2:21Speaker 1: You spoke about not having any fear when you're out there.
- 2:24Speaker 1: Is that something that you've grown accustomed to since you've
- 2:28Speaker 1: been in the NFL since twenty nineteen, or is that
- 2:31Speaker 1: something that you had to learn about.
- 2:34Speaker 3: Definitely had to learn about for sure. Obviously I started
- 2:37Speaker 3: in Detroit being a rookie kind of being under that
- 2:39Speaker 3: regime at that time, I was always just uptight and nervous,
- 2:44Speaker 3: so I was just like, I don't want to make
- 2:45Speaker 3: a mistake. And then obviously, you know, being with the
- 2:48Speaker 3: Jets the next three years after that, just you know,
- 2:50Speaker 3: definitely learn to just play because when I play on me,
- 2:53Speaker 3: that's when I play my best. So it really comes
- 2:56Speaker 3: down again to the preparation all week. Like, you know,
- 2:59Speaker 3: if I paid attention the means I paid attention, I practice,
- 3:01Speaker 3: then what else is there to do other than have
- 3:03Speaker 3: fun and good play?
- 3:04Speaker 1: Right? You get to play alongside James Cook and Ray
- 3:07Speaker 1: Davis to other running backs in that room, along a
- 3:09Speaker 1: few along as well as well as a few others
- 3:14Speaker 1: in that group too. How fun is it to get
- 3:16Speaker 1: to play alongside guys like Cook and Davis.
- 3:18Speaker 3: No, it's great because you know, Jimbo's wanna cook, you
- 3:21Speaker 3: know what I'm saying, Like James Cook. So it's cool
- 3:25Speaker 3: man seeing him, you know, growing to the player he's
- 3:27Speaker 3: grown into from when he first came into the league,
- 3:29Speaker 3: obviously playing against him and now being with him, and
- 3:32Speaker 3: then with you know Ray being a rookie, you know,
- 3:34Speaker 3: wide eyed, ready to come in make plays.
- 3:36Speaker 2: Seeing him grow as well.
- 3:38Speaker 3: And also you got you know Frank Gord, Darrington, Evans,
- 3:41Speaker 3: Me and Darrington. You know we're always talking about scheme
- 3:43Speaker 3: or anything. Also like compare the old schemes we may
- 3:46Speaker 3: have been in, like West Coast offense. So it's really
- 3:48Speaker 3: been cool just have like a melting pot of those
- 3:51Speaker 3: guys and just being able to learn off each other.
- 3:53Speaker 3: We joke around a lot, you know, when we're in
- 3:55Speaker 3: means we're locked in, but we're in the field.
- 3:56Speaker 2: It's all good times.
- 3:57Speaker 1: He said. It's fun to watch James Cook he has
- 4:01Speaker 1: taken his game to the next level. I feel like
- 4:02Speaker 1: every season he's upped it a little bit more. What
- 4:06Speaker 1: are you seeing out of this year's version of James Cook?
- 4:11Speaker 2: Honestly, I saw it back in OTAs.
- 4:12Speaker 3: I was like, damn, he running like obviously he was
- 4:15Speaker 3: running last year, you know what I'm saying, Like he
- 4:17Speaker 3: was doing his thing, balling out. But like even in
- 4:20Speaker 3: OTA's when we're out there practicing on the on the grasshole,
- 4:22Speaker 3: like damn, like he's trying to make a make a point,
- 4:26Speaker 3: you know what I'm saying. And he's really just been balling.
- 4:28Speaker 3: He's been running physical too, like he was already running physical,
- 4:31Speaker 3: but it's like you can feel it, you know what
- 4:32Speaker 3: I'm saying, when he touches the ball. So I think
- 4:35Speaker 3: dyeing the s guy. Don't lie when you watch film,
- 4:37Speaker 3: you see it.
- 4:37Speaker 1: So you are also a physical running back. You add
- 4:41Speaker 1: pop to that game when you're in Is that a mindset?
- 4:45Speaker 1: Is that something that's created in the weight room. How
- 4:48Speaker 1: do you go into a game, into a rep with
- 4:53Speaker 1: the physicality that both you and James bring on the field.
- 4:57Speaker 3: I'm gonna have to go back to like high school
- 4:59Speaker 3: coach Appel shot coach Apple. He was like, hit that
- 5:01Speaker 3: weight When you get strong, you get confidence, Like that's
- 5:03Speaker 3: what it is. And now it's realistically it's hit, don't
- 5:06Speaker 3: get hit. You know what I'm saying. If you beat
- 5:08Speaker 3: the hammer, nothing now. So that's really what it comes
- 5:11Speaker 3: down to. The weight room definitely builds that confidence, and
- 5:14Speaker 3: then realistically it's just like who you gonna choose you
- 5:16Speaker 3: or me? And I choose me for you know what
- 5:18Speaker 3: I'm saying, I don't want to get hit, so I'd
- 5:19Speaker 3: rather inflict it at the end of the day.
- 5:21Speaker 2: So that's just what it came down to.
- 5:23Speaker 1: You'd rather inflict it. Describe the feeling of plowing over
- 5:28Speaker 1: somebody in a game.
- 5:29Speaker 3: I don't feel like I really have as of like
- 5:32Speaker 3: last year or anything. Maybe I did, I don't know, but.
- 5:34Speaker 1: It's just or just breaking tackle yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 5:36Speaker 3: Breaking tackles is just like yeah, like I'm a monster,
- 5:38Speaker 3: you know what I'm saying, Like that's the only feeling
- 5:41Speaker 3: you get. Is like when you can't get stopped like
- 5:43Speaker 3: we've seen Ray do, especially in the Pittsburgh game when
- 5:46Speaker 3: his long run, He's just break him.
- 5:48Speaker 2: Like that's a guy right there, that's a dude.
- 5:50Speaker 3: So it's just it just brings an energy to the
- 5:53Speaker 3: whole sideline when that happens, you know, so especially when
- 5:55Speaker 3: you see Josh doing it, you're like, damn, Like Josh
- 5:57Speaker 3: is already big, so when he does it's like damn.
- 6:01Speaker 3: So it's it's just brings energy.
- 6:03Speaker 1: At the end of the day, the first time you
- 6:05Speaker 1: saw Josh Allen break a tackle Hurtle somebody, what was
- 6:09Speaker 1: going through your mind, whether you were in the game
- 6:11Speaker 1: or on the sideline watching that take place.
- 6:15Speaker 2: That's crazy, that's it.
- 6:18Speaker 3: But you know, obviously the fans have seen it his
- 6:21Speaker 3: whole career here and then I've seen it being on
- 6:23Speaker 3: the opposite side, and now seeing it well, being alongside
- 6:26Speaker 3: of him, it's just like, dude's crazy. Like you're like, no,
- 6:29Speaker 3: don't do that, don't do that. But at the same time,
- 6:32Speaker 3: like that's what you expect. Like he's a fireball, Like
- 6:34Speaker 3: he's a firecracker, Like he's going to get the job
- 6:36Speaker 3: done and he's want to get it by any means necessary.
- 6:38Speaker 3: So that's something you gotta love. But obviously everyone's like, oh,
- 6:42Speaker 3: watch out. But knowing him, knowing him, like he's going
- 6:45Speaker 3: to do whatever to get the job done. So you
- 6:46Speaker 3: got to have an appreciation for it for sure.
- 6:48Speaker 1: It makes me think I just want to watch him
- 6:51Speaker 1: play a few defensive snaps because the way he plays
- 6:54Speaker 1: the quarterback position, it's just like, Man, get out there
- 6:57Speaker 1: as a linebacker or even an edge rush. I want
- 7:00Speaker 1: to watch you get after the quarterback. Man.
- 7:02Speaker 2: I don't even know I would.
- 7:03Speaker 3: I would say, like, I wouldn't mind seeing him at
- 7:06Speaker 3: like safety, guests wrecking, having you know, like seeing the
- 7:09Speaker 3: whole field and everything. You know, him as a quarterback
- 7:12Speaker 3: seeing the whole field like, I think he would wreck
- 7:15Speaker 3: I think he would be a ball howk if he
- 7:16Speaker 3: was at safety? So I mean, because you don't really
- 7:18Speaker 3: see a lot of guys his stature at safety.
- 7:22Speaker 2: But that's what i'd see him at.
- 7:24Speaker 1: But maybe maybe in a video game somewhere down the line,
- 7:27Speaker 1: Josh Allen can play both sides of the field. That
- 7:29Speaker 1: would be fun. All Right, We've got to talk about
- 7:32Speaker 1: your brand, Vey Apparel. You have a new shirt that
- 7:36Speaker 1: just dropped, dropped. I am rocking right now, super super dope. Uh.
- 7:43Speaker 1: Around the office, everybody is loving these. Uh. It's a
- 7:47Speaker 1: fun take on Buffalo and the Bills. How did you
- 7:51Speaker 1: get involved in creating merch.
- 7:53Speaker 3: So my best friend Ike, you know, he's the one
- 7:56Speaker 3: that originally started a and brought me along. I wasind
- 8:00Speaker 3: of like the creative director with him, quote unquote, but
- 8:03Speaker 3: realistically like I was. We were talking like we need
- 8:06Speaker 3: a Buffalo shirt, man, Like it's it's time, because we
- 8:09Speaker 3: did a New York shirt of me when I was
- 8:11Speaker 3: with the Jets. We did a few other guys that
- 8:14Speaker 3: we went to school with, like we did DJ Moore
- 8:15Speaker 3: when he was in Carolina, we did a DJ Turner
- 8:18Speaker 3: and with the Raiders stuff like that, and you know,
- 8:21Speaker 3: and they were selling hots. We were like, man, like
- 8:23Speaker 3: we need to finally do like another one. And we
- 8:26Speaker 3: were like, I was like, bro, it's the we got
- 8:27Speaker 3: the Mafia, like you know, let's do something. And he
- 8:31Speaker 3: really just went to town with the design and it's a
- 8:35Speaker 3: dope shirt, like you can't you can't deny it. And
- 8:38Speaker 3: then like since it's the Mafield, we kind of like,
- 8:41Speaker 3: you know, put it around like you know, the Sopranos
- 8:43Speaker 3: almost and like mom mob ties and stuff like that,
- 8:47Speaker 3: because as the shirt says on the boom and keep
- 8:48Speaker 3: you friends close, enemies closer and things like that, and
- 8:50Speaker 3: leading up to.
- 8:51Speaker 2: The drop, of the shirt.
- 8:52Speaker 3: We did like a whole like mini series on IG
- 8:56Speaker 3: like I ended up like having to throw them in
- 8:58Speaker 3: my trunk or whatever, and it was hilarious, like and
- 9:03Speaker 3: we did a lot of that stuff like first take,
- 9:05Speaker 3: so it was like like I was looking at him
- 9:07Speaker 3: just busting out laughing because he's actually chained up and
- 9:09Speaker 3: we're like yo.
- 9:11Speaker 2: I was like, can you move? And he was like nah,
- 9:12Speaker 2: he actually tried getting out. It's all I was dying.
- 9:16Speaker 3: But it was great, and I think the shirt's dope.
- 9:18Speaker 3: And we have other shirts coming along with a few
- 9:21Speaker 3: other teams and stuff like that, but the Buffalo one
- 9:24Speaker 3: was like, this is the first one.
- 9:25Speaker 2: We need to get it out.
- 9:27Speaker 3: Like I know the Mafia would like it and it's
- 9:30Speaker 3: a dope shirt.
- 9:31Speaker 1: So how did you add to the design process? The
- 9:35Speaker 1: process of getting the shirt out?
- 9:37Speaker 3: It was really just we had different variations of it
- 9:41Speaker 3: and then just saying, Okay, well this would look good
- 9:43Speaker 3: on this color vice versa Okay, do we want to
- 9:46Speaker 3: do the outline like this? And then really as you
- 9:49Speaker 3: can see on the shirt, like kind of that like
- 9:50Speaker 3: skeleton look like it's kind of vibe we're going with.
- 9:53Speaker 2: And it was like, Okay, like, how do we want it?
- 9:55Speaker 3: Do we actually want like look like the mafia like
- 9:59Speaker 3: mob guys on there, And so that's really all it
- 10:01Speaker 3: came down to is just making little little switches here
- 10:04Speaker 3: and there and just.
- 10:05Speaker 2: Put it out.
- 10:06Speaker 1: It's got a little bit of a Halloween vibe to
- 10:08Speaker 1: it too for halloweens right around the corner, which I love.
- 10:11Speaker 1: Where can people buy this shirt?
- 10:12Speaker 3: Time they apparel dot Com going there. I believe we
- 10:15Speaker 3: have my discount code tie ten on there. So shout out,
- 10:20Speaker 3: get out there, get it. You know what I'm saying,
- 10:21Speaker 3: We'll get it out to you. And it's a dope shirt.
- 10:25Speaker 1: You also have a different brand, manifest How did that
- 10:28Speaker 1: start again?
- 10:30Speaker 2: Shout out ike?
- 10:32Speaker 3: You know, I kind of wanted to build something around
- 10:34Speaker 3: manifestation and you know, the laws of the universe. So
- 10:37Speaker 3: really I was like, I just want to build some
- 10:38Speaker 3: people just feel good when they see the shirt, like
- 10:41Speaker 3: they're manifesting the thinking of the laws of the universe.
- 10:43Speaker 3: They attract everything they want to bring into their life.
- 10:45Speaker 3: So that's really where it came from. And I like
- 10:48Speaker 3: kind of like the brutalist design effect, so I kind
- 10:52Speaker 3: of want to put that on there. And then also
- 10:53Speaker 3: in like the back of the manifestees the first one
- 10:56Speaker 3: we did with Statue of David because I love like
- 10:58Speaker 3: the Renaissance air type of art work and everything. So
- 11:01Speaker 3: at the bottom of it, it actually has like history
- 11:03Speaker 3: on it, but it's kind of like blurred out, but
- 11:05Speaker 3: like if you pay attention to details a little bit
- 11:06Speaker 3: and you read it, like you're like, oh damn, like
- 11:08Speaker 3: that's how it's created. Stuff like that, and you know
- 11:11Speaker 3: it's just a beautiful piece because the Statue of David
- 11:14Speaker 3: came from like a horrible piece of marble at the
- 11:16Speaker 3: end of the day. So I just think that's a
- 11:18Speaker 3: cool way to see how someone saw something beautiful and
- 11:20Speaker 3: the bad.
- 11:21Speaker 1: So where can people get manifest merch dot com? All right,
- 11:25Speaker 1: get it all at ve apparel dot com. You spoke
- 11:28Speaker 1: about the Renaissance era. You said you like their artwork.
- 11:31Speaker 1: Do you like more than just the artwork? Are you
- 11:34Speaker 1: a history buff?
- 11:35Speaker 3: No, I'm not history at all, not at all. But really,
- 11:38Speaker 3: a statue of David is really my favorite piece. So
- 11:41Speaker 3: maybe I'm a flake for it, I don't know, but
- 11:43Speaker 3: that's really my It's really my.
- 11:44Speaker 2: My favorite piece.
- 11:47Speaker 3: But yeah, like I just think a lot it's because
- 11:50Speaker 3: great like you got the thinker you have, you know,
- 11:51Speaker 3: a statue of David all that veenis de Milo, like
- 11:55Speaker 3: she's the lady with the arms off statue.
- 11:57Speaker 2: So I think that's what's beautiful.
- 11:58Speaker 3: Arwork, and I hope to see it one day person
- 12:00Speaker 3: so I can actually have that connection to it.
- 12:02Speaker 2: You know.
- 12:02Speaker 1: So you spoke about the reasoning behind manifest the brand,
- 12:09Speaker 1: manifesting what you're doing, what does that mean to you?
- 12:13Speaker 3: Really it was after I tore my peck was waves,
- 12:16Speaker 3: went to Florida. You know, I'm by myself in Florida
- 12:19Speaker 3: rehabing that you know, bamba ritos with forced therapy and
- 12:22Speaker 3: stuff like that, and really it was just like getting
- 12:24Speaker 3: my mind right and accepting what everything came with it,
- 12:27Speaker 3: and you know, not really like realizing that this isn't
- 12:31Speaker 3: the end for me and that I was gonna come
- 12:33Speaker 3: back stronger, and then just manifesting that like okay, like
- 12:35Speaker 3: I'm coming back strong, I'm coming back strong. I'm gonna
- 12:37Speaker 3: be on a team, whatever team it is, and I'm
- 12:39Speaker 3: I'm gonna be on a fifty three. I know I'm
- 12:41Speaker 3: gonna start off with pea squad. But like it's manifesting
- 12:43Speaker 3: like okay, I'm gonna be on fifty three. I know
- 12:44Speaker 3: I'm gonna get on the field. I know I'm gonna
- 12:45Speaker 3: make plays. So just having that affirmation every day, and
- 12:49Speaker 3: then even writing before team meeting, like affirmations no matter what. Really,
- 12:53Speaker 3: that's how it all came together, tied in together.
- 12:56Speaker 1: How hard was it for you to buy into something
- 12:59Speaker 1: like that? I mean hear about all the time people
- 13:02Speaker 1: manifesting or you know, put put the good things out there,
- 13:05Speaker 1: write it down and it will come true. How tough
- 13:08Speaker 1: was it for you to buy into something like that
- 13:10Speaker 1: in the beginning?
- 13:11Speaker 3: I feel like it's hard for everyone because you don't
- 13:13Speaker 3: really see that the quick results, Like you can't just
- 13:16Speaker 3: like throw it in the microwave thirty seconds it's ready,
- 13:18Speaker 3: you know what I'm saying. It's really just having an
- 13:20Speaker 3: unwavering belief in it and just truly just unwavering doubt
- 13:24Speaker 3: that it's going to happen, you know, like you don't
- 13:27Speaker 3: go into the weight room. You know, everyone has a
- 13:29Speaker 3: New Year's thing, like they go in the weight room.
- 13:30Speaker 3: They think the first week they're going to see results,
- 13:32Speaker 3: Like Noah, I don't work like that. So really just
- 13:34Speaker 3: sticking to it and just reaffirming everything.
- 13:38Speaker 1: What is Ty Johnson manifesting right now?
- 13:41Speaker 3: Hmm, manifesting right now? Just a good time on Monday night,
- 13:48Speaker 3: Monday night, good time, just being with the guys, and
- 13:51Speaker 3: you know, obviously coming out with Dove. So that's best
- 13:54Speaker 3: thing right now.
- 13:56Speaker 1: Ty. You've got the hair, You've got the piercings, you've
- 13:58Speaker 1: got the neck tat Where does the Ty Johnson vibe
- 14:02Speaker 1: come from?
- 14:04Speaker 2: I really don't know.
- 14:05Speaker 3: I know we talked about this last year, like you know,
- 14:07Speaker 3: the little Lenny Kravitz real and all that.
- 14:10Speaker 2: I really don't know, Like what did it start with? Honestly,
- 14:13Speaker 2: the hair?
- 14:14Speaker 1: The hair.
- 14:14Speaker 3: They start off the hair cuse back in high school
- 14:16Speaker 3: for her high school coach out, but we weren't allowed
- 14:18Speaker 3: to have long hair. Was clean cut, shave like I
- 14:21Speaker 3: had a baby face. I didn't have to shave my face,
- 14:24Speaker 3: but clean cut. You couldn't have long hair, any hair
- 14:26Speaker 3: that stuck out the back of the helmet. And when
- 14:28Speaker 3: I got to college started growing it out and then
- 14:30Speaker 3: started with you know, the earrings and.
- 14:33Speaker 2: Then the nose piercing.
- 14:35Speaker 3: When I got to the league to scept them, I
- 14:37Speaker 3: already had a good bit of tattoos and then just
- 14:39Speaker 3: adding on to it. And everyone tries to be different,
- 14:43Speaker 3: and that's such a like cliche thing. I'm trying to
- 14:45Speaker 3: be different, but like it's just trying to have a
- 14:47Speaker 3: unique look and feel to how I feel about, you know,
- 14:51Speaker 3: I dress and look so really like it's so hard
- 14:55Speaker 3: to say because everyone says.
- 14:56Speaker 2: The same thing. Yeah, but yeah, that's it came from.
- 15:00Speaker 3: And I feel like, you know, the music, the type
- 15:04Speaker 3: of TV I watch, or you know, anything like it
- 15:07Speaker 3: all molds me though who I am.
- 15:09Speaker 1: Was the septum piercing tough to hurt?
- 15:14Speaker 2: Oh? Yeah, that hurt.
- 15:16Speaker 3: It was probably worse than some of my tattoos realistically,
- 15:18Speaker 3: but like I have like a soft spot, so it
- 15:20Speaker 3: didn't actually have to go through like cartilage because a
- 15:22Speaker 3: lot of people have that. I had a soft spot,
- 15:24Speaker 3: so it wasn't too bad. But it was definitely some
- 15:27Speaker 3: tears are running down my face for naturally.
- 15:30Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 15:31Speaker 1: So are we going to get any more piercings in
- 15:33Speaker 1: the future? You're done?
- 15:35Speaker 3: Yeah, I got my industrial That was my last one,
- 15:37Speaker 3: and so yeah, I really don't know where else I
- 15:39Speaker 3: would put a piercing, like, you know, like I got
- 15:41Speaker 3: my ears done, got my face so good.
- 15:45Speaker 2: There I'm good there.
- 15:46Speaker 1: If you had to compare the septum and the neck
- 15:49Speaker 1: tat which one hurt.
- 15:50Speaker 3: More, Probably the septum because I pushed out and did
- 15:55Speaker 3: like numbing cream on my on my neck, But my
- 15:58Speaker 3: stomach definitely hurt.
- 16:00Speaker 2: I was probably one of the worst ones.
- 16:01Speaker 3: I got in my stomach and then I still have
- 16:03Speaker 3: to finish my backup, so like not looking forward to that.
- 16:07Speaker 3: But probably my stomach is the worst one. But my neck,
- 16:11Speaker 3: Like I'm a flake, I you know, did the numbing cream.
- 16:14Speaker 1: And everything anybody would if they were getting their neck tattooed.
- 16:17Speaker 3: I know a lot of guys who like get put
- 16:18Speaker 3: to sleep and get their whole body downe like it
- 16:20Speaker 3: takes out the like the the part of like going
- 16:22Speaker 3: to the tattoo shots no shade but disrespectfully saying, you know,
- 16:27Speaker 3: can't do that.
- 16:28Speaker 1: So what is the story behind the butterfly on the neck?
- 16:30Speaker 3: So it's like a death moth And for me, like spiritually,
- 16:34Speaker 3: you know, moths are attracted to the light, and the
- 16:36Speaker 3: light being the word the Bible.
- 16:37Speaker 2: That's how I came with it.
- 16:38Speaker 1: So you know, very simple, Where does all this creativity
- 16:43Speaker 1: come from? How you think about life, how you address things,
- 16:46Speaker 1: how you manifest things.
- 16:48Speaker 3: I think it just comes down from life experiences, you
- 16:50Speaker 3: know what I'm saying, Like I'm still young, but like
- 16:53Speaker 3: you know, almost thirty twenty seven, you know, three more
- 16:55Speaker 3: years i'll be thirty. So it gets life experiences, you know,
- 16:57Speaker 3: from whatever I went through when I was growing up,
- 17:00Speaker 3: good bad experiences, you know, as a teenager and then
- 17:04Speaker 3: you know, early mid twenties. It really just molding to
- 17:07Speaker 3: the person you are. And you know, I'll just try
- 17:09Speaker 3: to have a positive outlook on everything because you know,
- 17:12Speaker 3: I'm very grateful for a lot of things because I
- 17:14Speaker 3: think about other people's situations or what they may be
- 17:17Speaker 3: going from, like damn, Like I'm very you know, blessed,
- 17:19Speaker 3: and I'm very grateful to you know, live the life
- 17:21Speaker 3: I'm living right now, because other people don't have that.
- 17:23Speaker 3: So that's always how to put in perspective, because you know,
- 17:26Speaker 3: there's many situations in the world right now that you're like, damn,
- 17:29Speaker 3: like you know, we're blessed.
- 17:30Speaker 1: So you spoke of being grateful. You also pour back
- 17:34Speaker 1: into your community in Maryland. You've held your Ty Johnson
- 17:37Speaker 1: football camp over summer the last few years. Why did
- 17:42Speaker 1: you want to start something like that.
- 17:44Speaker 3: Well, being like a guy who you know, came from Cumberland, Maryland,
- 17:48Speaker 3: which no one ever knows where it's at.
- 17:50Speaker 1: But it's just letting on the map. Where is it
- 17:52Speaker 1: a western.
- 17:52Speaker 2: Maryland off for sixty eight? You know what I'm saying.
- 17:54Speaker 3: Close to West V Actually I can get the WESTV
- 17:57Speaker 3: in like five minutes, but the.
- 18:00Speaker 2: WVU you can get there in like an hour. Things
- 18:03Speaker 2: like that.
- 18:03Speaker 3: Pennsylvania can get there in like five minutes, like the border.
- 18:05Speaker 3: So but really is just you know, being an athlete
- 18:10Speaker 3: and being an athlete in the league this long, like
- 18:13Speaker 3: I have a platform and being able to get back
- 18:15Speaker 3: to kids who aspire to you know, get to just
- 18:18Speaker 3: the college level and then you know, eventually to the league.
- 18:21Speaker 3: Just being able to give them that affirmation like you
- 18:23Speaker 3: can do it. You know, you got to sacrifice some
- 18:25Speaker 3: things which you definitely got to work hard and it'll all,
- 18:28Speaker 3: you know, work out. And just being able to get
- 18:30Speaker 3: back to them and give them that hope that's probably
- 18:32Speaker 3: the biggest thing. And then alsoly it also like you
- 18:35Speaker 3: know what I'm saying, gets the community together, you know
- 18:37Speaker 3: what I'm saying, a lot of people right after the
- 18:40Speaker 3: last camp, they're like, oh, like when's the next one,
- 18:42Speaker 3: you know, so you know, planning on even doing like
- 18:45Speaker 3: a you know, a two day camp, you know what
- 18:46Speaker 3: I'm saying. For even the older kids, you know what
- 18:48Speaker 3: I'm saying, so because I feel like they could also
- 18:50Speaker 3: like apply even though they might be you know, junior senior,
- 18:54Speaker 3: they can still apply to their last season or whatever
- 18:56Speaker 3: whatever they may learn, and really just trying to instill
- 18:59Speaker 3: that mind to the positivity and you know, keep growing
- 19:02Speaker 3: as a person even though you get that whole life
- 19:04Speaker 3: in front of them. Just instilling that positivity and you know,
- 19:07Speaker 3: telling them, you know, they're great and making cheap great things,
- 19:10Speaker 3: whether it's on the field or not.
- 19:11Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying, So instilling that pot that's
- 19:14Speaker 1: mindset of positivity. You are somebody who enjoys ed M music,
- 19:18Speaker 1: which I feel like brings a positive mindset and outlook
- 19:23Speaker 1: just based on the beats and what that type of
- 19:25Speaker 1: music does to you. When did you start enjoying DM.
- 19:29Speaker 3: Well, it was already a big John Summer fan, so
- 19:32Speaker 3: you know, John sum is the goat right now for
- 19:34Speaker 3: me at least. But I actually went to my first
- 19:37Speaker 3: rave with I like my best friend right before Eastern Baltimore.
- 19:40Speaker 3: We saw Excision and like Wooley was there, and like
- 19:44Speaker 3: when I told people I seen them.
- 19:45Speaker 2: They're like, oh, those are like the goats of that,
- 19:48Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying. So I was like, oh,
- 19:49Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 19:50Speaker 3: So I saw them, Like Yuki Sucks was there, and
- 19:52Speaker 3: then I forget who was a headliner.
- 19:54Speaker 2: It was like a high school kid.
- 19:55Speaker 3: I'm like, he's ripping this set, like this is crazy,
- 19:59Speaker 3: but really that's I can't explain, like such a great
- 20:04Speaker 3: time and like it just lifts me up and everything.
- 20:08Speaker 3: And like even at that that Excision concert, like the
- 20:12Speaker 3: headliner he was like build a wall and I'm like
- 20:15Speaker 3: what are we doing? And then I can see everyone
- 20:17Speaker 3: far Yeah, like it was insane. I'm like, you know,
- 20:20Speaker 3: being like a running back. I was like, hell yeah,
- 20:22Speaker 3: I'm about to run into this, like like.
- 20:27Speaker 1: Give me out of this die.
- 20:29Speaker 3: It was great, Like me and my best friends like
- 20:31Speaker 3: what's going on. He's like, let's go to the wall
- 20:32Speaker 3: and I'm like okay, and then he was like three
- 20:34Speaker 3: two one. I saw people run. I was like, hell yeah,
- 20:36Speaker 3: I guess ran straight into it. Great time, great time.
- 20:40Speaker 3: But yeah, that was that music, you know it just
- 20:44Speaker 3: gives me energy, gives me vibes. Definitely enjoy saw John
- 20:49Speaker 3: Summit in Toronto in the summer too, so great time.
- 20:54Speaker 3: I was hoping to see Fred again. I know Fred
- 20:55Speaker 3: again was here the great but you know it happens,
- 20:59Speaker 3: you know, at the scene eventually. But definitely like all
- 21:03Speaker 3: that is like my vibe before games. Actually like John Summitt, everything,
- 21:06Speaker 3: John Summitt, you know where you are, go back, resonate
- 21:10Speaker 3: human all that, and then a little bit of like Subtronics,
- 21:13Speaker 3: you know what I'm saying. Like there's a song with
- 21:16Speaker 3: Subtronics in Wooley Hallelujah, and it's just the craziest drop,
- 21:21Speaker 3: and like every single time it's about to drop, I'll
- 21:23Speaker 3: listen to it, and then I'll go to like Josh
- 21:25Speaker 3: or I'll go to like Mike White or like Alex
- 21:27Speaker 3: I'm like, listen to this, listen to this, and they
- 21:28Speaker 3: were like damn, like this is is kind of crazy,
- 21:31Speaker 3: and then yeah, it's all that's all I listen to realistically.
- 21:34Speaker 3: And I listened a little bit of Codyito's reggaeton and
- 21:36Speaker 3: stuff mix it in there because that's like my vibe.
- 21:38Speaker 3: But yeah, like it just gets me amp so like
- 21:41Speaker 3: I'm ready to go when.
- 21:42Speaker 2: I listen to that.
- 21:43Speaker 1: So I love that. Are you bringing John Summit to
- 21:46Speaker 1: the locker room because there's there's some times where I've
- 21:48Speaker 1: walked by after practice and I hear it bumping and
- 21:52Speaker 1: players are walking in the locker room and they're like,
- 21:55Speaker 1: this drop is so good.
- 21:56Speaker 3: Yeah, it's it's Dalton that it starts it because me
- 21:59Speaker 3: and Dalton we both low John Summit, so Dalton ois started.
- 22:02Speaker 3: And then right when he plays it like like his
- 22:03Speaker 3: lockers kind of like right there my mind, Like he
- 22:06Speaker 3: just walks down a little bit and he just looks
- 22:08Speaker 3: at me.
- 22:08Speaker 2: He puts his hands up. I'm just like, yeah, like
- 22:10Speaker 2: we're doing this right now.
- 22:11Speaker 3: So and every some time he turns it on, like
- 22:13Speaker 3: turn it up, or we're in the practice field, I'm like, yo,
- 22:15Speaker 3: don't turn it up.
- 22:16Speaker 2: So such a good vibe.
- 22:18Speaker 1: I love that. Before we finish, I want to get
- 22:21Speaker 1: into the running backs room because it's a great group
- 22:25Speaker 1: led by a coach who's been here for so long.
- 22:28Speaker 1: In Skip, tell me about Skip what he likes, because
- 22:34Speaker 1: he just seems like the happiest guy always always has
- 22:38Speaker 1: a smile on his face and has been here for
- 22:41Speaker 1: a long time.
- 22:42Speaker 2: Yeah, no, skip skips my guy.
- 22:44Speaker 3: Man. Like, like you said, like he's been around a
- 22:46Speaker 3: long time, He's seen a lot of things. Well, Like
- 22:48Speaker 3: he's such a great coach. He's probably one of the
- 22:51Speaker 3: best running back coaches I've had. And you know, like
- 22:55Speaker 3: he just knows his stuff, you know what I'm saying.
- 22:57Speaker 3: Like I said, he's been around a long time, He's
- 22:58Speaker 3: been around a lot of great running backs. He's seen
- 23:00Speaker 3: it a lot, and like he just brings it to
- 23:03Speaker 3: the table, like no matter.
- 23:04Speaker 2: What, he'll keep it real with us.
- 23:06Speaker 3: But obviously, like when we do our things, he's like,
- 23:08Speaker 3: you know, you did your thing.
- 23:09Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying. So, but he's a great dude. Man.
- 23:12Speaker 2: He's funny, Like he always has his.
- 23:13Speaker 3: Little ad libs he does when he's like teaching us
- 23:15Speaker 3: something like you have to just be in there in
- 23:17Speaker 3: the meeting, Like he has all these little ad libs.
- 23:22Speaker 1: I don't even know, Like I can't explain it.
- 23:24Speaker 2: I can't explain it.
- 23:25Speaker 3: Like he just has all these ad libs he does.
- 23:27Speaker 3: And then when you're on the field, you know what
- 23:28Speaker 3: I'm saying, he locks in and everything. But you know
- 23:31Speaker 3: what I'm saying, he's a good coach man. He tells
- 23:33Speaker 3: you what to do, he makes sure you understand your
- 23:35Speaker 3: job and just go from then he lets you play,
- 23:38Speaker 3: so he just gives you all the all the answers
- 23:40Speaker 3: to the test.
- 23:41Speaker 2: Then you just go perform. So he's a good dude.
- 23:43Speaker 1: There are position groups on this team who have ten
- 23:46Speaker 1: plus guys in them. You are a part of a
- 23:48Speaker 1: position group who has probably one of the least amount
- 23:51Speaker 1: of players within it. What's the unique part about being
- 23:54Speaker 1: in a position group where there's not too many of you.
- 23:56Speaker 3: I feel like just the communication it gets through all
- 23:59Speaker 3: of us in the same way because there's not a
- 24:01Speaker 3: whole bunch of guys that you got receivers or anything.
- 24:03Speaker 2: Like that, a lot of guys dbs.
- 24:06Speaker 3: So being able to have a smaller group, like we're
- 24:08Speaker 3: able to talk in the meeting room and everyone like
- 24:10Speaker 3: ears open, eyes up, they hear, they understand, and you know,
- 24:13Speaker 3: if there's any questions, we're able to talk through it
- 24:16Speaker 3: and everyone will be on the same page at the
- 24:17Speaker 3: end of the day. So I think that's probably one
- 24:19Speaker 3: of the best things. And then you know, you build
- 24:21Speaker 3: that relationship too when it's you know, just a few
- 24:23Speaker 3: guys we got you know, just us five in there,
- 24:26Speaker 3: and you know we like each other.
- 24:28Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying. You know what I'm saying.
- 24:29Speaker 2: So it's a good time.
- 24:31Speaker 1: Who's the most interesting guy in the running backs room?
- 24:34Speaker 1: Or am I looking at him?
- 24:36Speaker 3: It has to probably be me, man, it has to
- 24:38Speaker 3: be me. Think so I feel like I'm just like
- 24:41Speaker 3: such like a multifaceted person.
- 24:42Speaker 1: Yeah, you're chameleon.
- 24:44Speaker 3: Yeah, like whatever the vibe is, like, I can adjust
- 24:49Speaker 3: to that and like I know something about it too,
- 24:51Speaker 3: you know.
- 24:51Speaker 2: So yeah, it definitely had to be me for sure.
- 24:54Speaker 3: Funniest, funniest Frank's up there.
- 24:59Speaker 2: Yeah, Frank's up there. Frank and Jimbo they're up there
- 25:02Speaker 2: for sure.
- 25:03Speaker 1: What do they do together when they.
- 25:05Speaker 2: It's just like you have to be there.
- 25:06Speaker 3: It's just like we'll just give you a look and
- 25:09Speaker 3: it just like sends you like something might happen or
- 25:11Speaker 3: you might say something. He'll just look at you. It's
- 25:13Speaker 3: just like for what, But it's like it's I don't know,
- 25:16Speaker 3: it's just funny, is it?
- 25:17Speaker 1: That Florida connection that they have going on?
- 25:20Speaker 2: It has to be has to be. There's no other way.
- 25:24Speaker 2: It has to be for sure.
- 25:25Speaker 1: Who's the most serious guy in the running backs room.
- 25:28Speaker 2: The most serious.
- 25:31Speaker 3: I have to say, Ray and Jimbo like they they
- 25:35Speaker 3: be locked in, like we're all locked in when it
- 25:37Speaker 3: comes to the meeting time. But you know, they really
- 25:39Speaker 3: don't They really don't say much. Like when Skip's talking
- 25:42Speaker 3: and everything, they're just like writing stuff or like Ray's
- 25:44Speaker 3: always writing stuff down what you gotta appreciate from a rookie.
- 25:47Speaker 3: And then Jimbo like, you know, being a bit he's
- 25:50Speaker 3: just like looking at Skips.
- 25:51Speaker 2: So definitely them two.
- 25:53Speaker 1: Who are who are you bringing with you when a
- 25:55Speaker 1: zombie apocalypse comes in in the running back room?
- 26:00Speaker 2: Got to bring I got to bring them all. I
- 26:01Speaker 2: gotta protect them. I gotta protect them.
- 26:03Speaker 1: You're the protector. I told him.
- 26:05Speaker 3: I was like, we can go to Cumbland, man, we
- 26:06Speaker 3: can post up there. No one's going there straight, you
- 26:09Speaker 3: know what I'm saying.
- 26:10Speaker 1: And you're pretty safe in Buffalo too, for sure.
- 26:13Speaker 3: It's so funny that you talked about like like you
- 26:16Speaker 3: know that what's the what's the movie called.
- 26:20Speaker 2: World World Gone or whatever it is? Yeah, whatever it is.
- 26:25Speaker 3: And like right after that, like I kind of got
- 26:27Speaker 3: like paranoid and I bought like a whole bunch of
- 26:29Speaker 3: like stock pile stuff.
- 26:31Speaker 2: So like I got like the.
- 26:32Speaker 3: Water that last on your Like you should see the
- 26:36Speaker 3: basement at my mom's crib. Like it's just like endless flashlights, batteries,
- 26:40Speaker 3: walkie talkies, like like uh, the meal ready kits like
- 26:45Speaker 3: military tie. Yeah, Like I definitely got paranoid for a second,
- 26:50Speaker 3: but I was like trip it but maybe Yeah, I
- 26:54Speaker 3: definitely got to set something up here.
- 26:55Speaker 1: For sure, But get your bunker ready to go. I
- 26:58Speaker 1: got to Okay. One last question. James Cook has had
- 27:04Speaker 1: the last couple of weeks his inspiring Quote of the Week,
- 27:08Speaker 1: which we have put out on social media. I don't
- 27:10Speaker 1: know if you've seen it on social media.
- 27:13Speaker 2: I've seen one of them.
- 27:14Speaker 1: You've seen one of them. What's your take on on
- 27:17Speaker 1: James Cook lifting lifting everybody up as as we head
- 27:20Speaker 1: into game day?
- 27:22Speaker 3: Man of few words, but real what it is, He's
- 27:27Speaker 3: gonna keep it real. You don't talk much when he talks.
- 27:29Speaker 3: It's it's the truth. So that's all I can say
- 27:32Speaker 3: about Like that's all you got from But it's real, though,
- 27:36Speaker 3: so keep going.
- 27:37Speaker 2: That's it.
- 27:38Speaker 1: Based on that videos, that video and other things that
- 27:42Speaker 1: he does, it seems like when when you get to
- 27:45Speaker 1: know him. When he turns it on a little bit,
- 27:47Speaker 1: he seems like one funny dude.
- 27:50Speaker 2: Now he is like you gotta catch him at the
- 27:52Speaker 2: right time and everything, and.
- 27:53Speaker 1: You're just like, he breaks that smile and you're like, oh,
- 27:57Speaker 1: we're in for it.
- 27:57Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 27:58Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 27:58Speaker 3: When he started smiling and laughing, you know, it's got
- 28:00Speaker 3: to be a good time for sure. Like I feel
- 28:03Speaker 3: like people really rarely ever see him smile, but when
- 28:06Speaker 3: he does, it's a great time always.
- 28:08Speaker 1: So Ty, thanks for sitting down with us. Thanks for
- 28:11Speaker 1: telling us about Vey Apparel. You can get anything these
- 28:15Speaker 1: shirts and more on veapparel dot com. Appreciate you, appreciate you.
