- 0:38Speaker 3: doing setting and then also sitting on the deck and
- 0:41Speaker 3: enjoying a beverage, I was That's what I was thinking.
- 0:44Speaker 3: I was like, gosh, I wish it was like this
- 0:45Speaker 3: all the time, because this is very It was very

- 5:01Speaker 2: say it clear. You can listen as well as you hear. Now,
- 5:06Speaker 2: why is that important today? It's important because there's something
- 5:10Speaker 2: that needs to be said. Don't leave it unsaid. You know,
- 5:15Speaker 2: it could be something great, it could be something that
- 5:17Speaker 2: needs to be told. It could be something that will
- 5:21Speaker 2: encourage somebody you work with, or maybe it's just something
- 5:24Speaker 2: you feel like you need to get off of your chest,
- 5:27Speaker 2: off your radar, you know, say it loud, say it clear.
- 5:30Speaker 2: You can listen as well as you hear, and keep
- 5:33Speaker 2: everything I just said in mind in case somebody comes
- 5:36Speaker 2: to you with something that they feel like they need
- 5:38Speaker 2: you to hear. All right, Mike and Mechanics from nineteen
- 5:42Speaker 2: eighty eight, the song the Living Years. Enjoy it. You'll
- 5:45Speaker 2: hear it during this Best of the eighties and nineties weekend.
- 5:47Speaker 2: It starts later on today, five o'clock ninety seven point
- 5:50Speaker 2: one Wash FM on and in just minutes we're going
- 5:53Speaker 2: to talk about the sensation sweeping the nation.
- 5:56Speaker 3: Jimothy the Seattle raccoon, who's got a rare condition that
- 6:01Speaker 3: has made him Internet famous.
- 6:02Speaker 2: That's right, little Jimothy, Oh little Jimothy. If you don't know,
- 6:07Speaker 2: you will stay there by day morning in the capital
- 6:11Speaker 2: city of the Free World. It's ninety seven point one
- 6:13Speaker 2: was chef m A Chili. I admit I have this
- 6:16Speaker 2: very strange fascination, and I shout her to think that
- 6:20Speaker 2: I'm about to admit this this morning. But Jimothy the
- 6:22Speaker 2: raccoon has been an obsession for me all week long.
- 6:26Speaker 3: Now, if you don't know, I don't know where you've been,
- 6:28Speaker 3: because it's been all over social media. But this raccoon.
- 6:32Speaker 3: There was a viral video of the raccoon who looks
- 6:36Speaker 3: like he's a hunchback, but it's short spine syndrome.
- 6:39Speaker 4: Now he's Jimothy the Hunchback, poor little raccoon.
- 6:42Speaker 3: And he's scurries in this video, and everybody's fallen in
- 6:46Speaker 3: love with him. And then I was reading yesterday that
- 6:50Speaker 3: he may actually have other short spine raccoon friends in Seattle.
- 6:53Speaker 2: What's going on in Seattle that all the raccoons have
- 6:56Speaker 2: got the hunchback going on? I mean, it's I'm sorry,
- 6:59Speaker 2: is that incorrect for me to say that I don't know?
- 7:01Speaker 2: For it's a raccoon. And if somebody wants to call
- 7:04Speaker 2: me from the Smithsonian and complain over there at the zoo,
- 7:07Speaker 2: I'll take the call. Find at eight sixty six nineteen
- 7:09Speaker 2: seven forty three sixty one. But this little raccoon has
- 7:12Speaker 2: been on my mind so much, and I've been just
- 7:14Speaker 2: so obsessed that the other morning I got up and
- 7:17Speaker 2: I had to check it, and then I was like, man,
- 7:20Speaker 2: what is wrong with me? So then I posted something
- 7:23Speaker 2: on our Instagram. I'm like, why am I fascinated by
- 7:26Speaker 2: this poor little raccoon?
- 7:27Speaker 3: Well, You're not the only one. Google got in on it.
- 7:29Speaker 3: If you google Jimothy, they have a little raccoon run
- 7:36Speaker 3: across the screen.
- 7:37Speaker 2: Oh wow, Yes, that's right, and you, by the way,
- 7:40Speaker 2: can share it. So you'll notice that it's gonna be
- 7:44Speaker 2: shared on our x account formerly known as Twitter, It's
- 7:48Speaker 2: to Facebook and all of the things. You know why,
- 7:50Speaker 2: because Jimothy deserves the recognition. This is a little raccoon
- 7:54Speaker 2: that could with his hunchback.
- 7:56Speaker 3: And I love that because we all could use a
- 7:58Speaker 3: little Jimothy in our lives right about now.
- 8:00Speaker 2: Amen to that. It's like the World Cup ended. We
- 8:03Speaker 2: didn't know what we were going to do with ourselves,
- 8:05Speaker 2: and then boom, the Lord gave us Jimothy.
- 8:08Speaker 4: Amen. Amen.
- 8:10Speaker 2: If you haven't seen, get to the Toby and chilipage
- 8:13Speaker 2: at WASHIFM dot com, embrace Jimothy, it'll be worth it.

- 9:08Speaker 3: of the electricity costs from AI data center growth. You've
- 9:12Speaker 3: got the latest on that story and others on the
- 9:14Speaker 3: way with Toby and Chili in the Morning a ninety
- 9:17Speaker 3: seven point one wash FM.
- 9:21Speaker 5: Top Stories Top of the Hour.
- 9:23Speaker 3: The President is pushing utilities and companies to shoulder more
- 9:27Speaker 3: of the electricity costs from AI data center growth. He
- 9:30Speaker 3: unveiled an updated ratepayer protection pledge yesterday aimed at shielding
- 9:34Speaker 3: consumers from soaring electric bills while keeping the US ahead
- 9:37Speaker 3: in the AI race. A nine year old boy has
- 9:40Speaker 3: died after a crash in Herndon yesterday evening. Please say
- 9:44Speaker 3: the boy was hit by a vehicle while he was
- 9:46Speaker 3: riding an e scooter in the neighborhood without a helmet.
- 9:50Speaker 3: The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and
- 9:52Speaker 3: the crash is under investigation. Fairfax County Public Schools will
- 9:56Speaker 3: give every student ND card starting this fall, letting go
- 10:00Speaker 3: kids tap on and off buses. The system tracks bus location,
- 10:05Speaker 3: not students, and pairs with new driver tablets showing route
- 10:09Speaker 3: maps and writer information. Montgomery Public Schools will stop covering
- 10:14Speaker 3: AP and IB exam fees next school year for students
- 10:18Speaker 3: who don't meet state college and career readiness benchmarks. A
- 10:22Speaker 3: district spokesperson says the change aligns with the blueprint for
- 10:26Speaker 3: Maryland's future. Prince George's County has upgraded its recycling facility
- 10:31Speaker 3: with new fiber sorting technology, cutting down time and contamination,
- 10:36Speaker 3: meaning cleaner materials, less breakdown, and more money for the
- 10:40Speaker 3: county when they're sold. And a new survey finds at
- 10:43Speaker 3: eight percent of Americans now turn to AI first for
- 10:48Speaker 3: health information that comes behind search engines and healthcare professionals.
- 10:53Speaker 3: The top perks that were cited were round the clock
- 10:56Speaker 3: access and low cost forecast today and other day partly
- 11:01Speaker 3: cloudy skies. Highs around eighty three right now sixty five
- 11:05Speaker 3: in Poolsville.
- 11:06Speaker 2: Now that you've got the news top stories at the
- 11:07Speaker 2: top of the hour, hang out for a minute because
- 11:10Speaker 2: would like to know what you think about refills. When
- 11:13Speaker 2: you roll into a restaurant you order a fountain drink.
- 11:16Speaker 2: Is that good for just one drink? Or should you
- 11:21Speaker 2: be able to get multiple refills of said drink when
- 11:24Speaker 2: you go to a restaurant or any kind of establishment
- 11:28Speaker 2: you have thoughts eight sixty six nine two seven forty
- 11:30Speaker 2: three sixty one. There's a fast food, fast casual kind
- 11:33Speaker 2: of restaurant that's making people talk this morning, and well,
- 11:38Speaker 2: we'll get your take on this in minute. Want to
- 11:40Speaker 2: get your opinion on refills at the soda fountain ninety
- 11:45Speaker 2: seven point one washef M.
- 11:46Speaker 4: We're Toby and Chilly in the morning.
- 11:47Speaker 2: This comes up because there's a fast casual sort of restaurant,
- 11:50Speaker 2: one of my favorites. Actually, it's causing people to talk
- 11:54Speaker 2: about refills and whether or not you're entitled to them.
- 11:57Speaker 3: Steak and Shake is the name of the fast casual place,
- 12:00Speaker 3: and they've installed anti theft QR readers on their soda
- 12:04Speaker 3: fountain machines, so if you're a customer, you've got to
- 12:06Speaker 3: scan a QR code before a drink will dispense. This
- 12:09Speaker 3: new system is designed to cut down on endless refills
- 12:13Speaker 3: and to keep prices affordable for their loyal gat.
- 12:15Speaker 2: I feel like maybe Steak and Shake, and I love
- 12:17Speaker 2: Steak and Shake, I think they probably spent more on
- 12:20Speaker 2: the QR code readers than paying for the syrup to
- 12:23Speaker 2: make the soda in the fountain.
- 12:24Speaker 3: I really think that if you're going to one of
- 12:26Speaker 3: these places as a customer, I'm expecting a free refill
- 12:30Speaker 3: if it's from the soda machine. Obviously, if it's at
- 12:33Speaker 3: a restaurant and you're ordering a alcoholic beverage, that doesn't count.
- 12:36Speaker 3: But for this purpose, I don't know if this is
- 12:38Speaker 3: a good idea. I mean, they're making money just from
- 12:42Speaker 3: two three refills. I mean how many times these people
- 12:44Speaker 3: refilling that they feel compelled to limit the refills. I
- 12:48Speaker 3: am not a fan of doing it. I know that
- 12:50Speaker 3: they're probably losing some money, but if you want me
- 12:52Speaker 3: to keep coming back, you got to give me at
- 12:55Speaker 3: least two refills.
- 12:56Speaker 4: I really don't think that there should be a number
- 12:58Speaker 4: on it.
- 12:58Speaker 2: Honestly, if you put that soda fountain gimmick out in
- 13:02Speaker 2: front of all of these people in general population in
- 13:05Speaker 2: a restaurant, that's an open invitation to come and refill
- 13:08Speaker 2: your drink, no harm, no foul. But if you see
- 13:11Speaker 2: somebody that's abusing it, clearly, now that's problematic to me.
- 13:15Speaker 3: Abusing it is saying you're just gonna have water and
- 13:17Speaker 3: not getting the water. No one's bringing a milk jug.
- 13:20Speaker 2: Oh yeah, restaurant, No, but they do. They do get
- 13:22Speaker 2: the little water cups at some restaurants.
- 13:24Speaker 3: Saying they lie. McDonald's is, by the way, phasing out
- 13:28Speaker 3: their self serve machines, so you're not going to see
- 13:30Speaker 3: as many of these go up and get your own
- 13:32Speaker 3: soda situations now that this is happening. But I mean,
- 13:34Speaker 3: what do you think do you think restaurants or these
- 13:37Speaker 3: fast food places should give out free refills or should
- 13:40Speaker 3: they limit them? And why or why not?
- 13:42Speaker 2: Hate six six, nine, two, seven forty three sixty one
- 13:45Speaker 2: is the number of talkbacks wide open two hit us up,
- 13:47Speaker 2: let us know what you think about this and we'll
- 13:49Speaker 2: get to your thoughts coming up.
- 13:50Speaker 4: As Toby and Chilly in the Morning continues we're.
- 13:53Speaker 2: Talking about refills. You know, when you go to a
- 13:57Speaker 2: restaurant and you order a drink and they have one
- 13:59Speaker 2: of those soda fountains out there in the middle of
- 14:02Speaker 2: general population, if you will in a restaurant, are you
- 14:05Speaker 2: entitled to refills?
- 14:06Speaker 4: Yes?
- 14:07Speaker 2: No, let's continue our conversation. Eight sixty six ninety two,
- 14:10Speaker 2: seven forty three sixty one. It's ninety seven point one.
- 14:12Speaker 2: Watch FM Toby and Chilly in the morning.
- 14:15Speaker 3: So Steak and Shake is a fast food chain and
- 14:18Speaker 3: they've installed these anti theft QR readers on their soda
- 14:21Speaker 3: fountain machines where customers have got to scan that QR
- 14:25Speaker 3: code before a drink will dispense. They're trying to cut
- 14:27Speaker 3: back on people getting endless refills.
- 14:29Speaker 4: Seems a little excessive.
- 14:31Speaker 3: Yeah, I think for fast food plays like that. Come on, now,
- 14:34Speaker 3: how many how many refills do you think I'm gonna
- 14:36Speaker 3: go up there and get in an hour's time? Right?
- 14:38Speaker 2: Kenny from Oxen Hill thoughts, good morning, Thanks for hanging on.
- 14:42Speaker 2: How many refills do you feel like you're entitled to?
- 14:44Speaker 3: Uh?
- 14:45Speaker 5: Yeah, I'd say at least one.
- 14:46Speaker 3: Right, absolutely, I'm thinking up to three.
- 14:50Speaker 4: Yeah, I means as everything else people overdo it and
- 14:52Speaker 4: they walk in with their milk.
- 14:54Speaker 3: Judge.
- 14:54Speaker 2: Probably then they ruin it for everybody, Kenny, But thank
- 14:59Speaker 2: you very much this morning for jumping into the conversation.
- 15:02Speaker 2: Let's swing over to Falls Church where Chris is hanging
- 15:04Speaker 2: on the line. Let's talk refills.
- 15:07Speaker 4: Well, throw them out that you're paying for a drink,
- 15:11Speaker 4: and then how much it actually costs them to provide it.
- 15:15Speaker 3: Yeah, they can give you some refills.
- 15:17Speaker 4: Yeah three, Just like Chili said a minute ago, even with.
- 15:21Speaker 3: That date, still make money on it. Yeah, I am
- 15:23Speaker 3: not making them lose money on this either.
- 15:27Speaker 5: Fill it ten times.
- 15:27Speaker 3: I think they will make money. Dang ten times. Well,
- 15:30Speaker 3: clearly you're a fan of the refill.
- 15:32Speaker 1: I'm got top it off before I leave, and.
- 15:34Speaker 2: You will not be sorry about doing so. Thank you
- 15:37Speaker 2: for the call this morning, Kenny. Have a great day
- 15:39Speaker 2: in Oxton Hill. We got the news coming up in

- 21:14Speaker 2: we got a story that we think might just make
- 21:16Speaker 2: you feel good today because it's Friday.
- 21:19Speaker 3: A missing nine year old, a race against water, and
- 21:22Speaker 3: a deputy who didn't hesitate.
- 21:25Speaker 4: I mean, the.
- 21:25Speaker 2: World we live in, given the news and everything that
- 21:28Speaker 2: constantly bombards us, it's good to take a minute to
- 21:31Speaker 2: focus on the good. And that's why we've got this
- 21:35Speaker 2: story for you now. It's ninety seven point one wasch FM.
- 21:38Speaker 2: If you hear it on a Friday, it's got to
- 21:39Speaker 2: be the feel good story for the week, and here
- 21:42Speaker 2: we go with Toby and Chilly in the morning. It
- 21:44Speaker 2: all started with a call that every parent dreads. A
- 21:47Speaker 2: nine year old boy, autistic non verbal vanishes, vanishes from
- 21:52Speaker 2: his family's home on Captain's Point Lane in Hollywood, Maryland,
- 21:55Speaker 2: and he'd been gone for just fifteen minutes, but fifteen
- 21:57Speaker 2: minutes as an eternity when we're talking about But here's
- 22:01Speaker 2: the great part.
- 22:01Speaker 3: Within moments, Saint Mary's County deputies were racing to the scene,
- 22:05Speaker 3: joined by Maryland State Police, Natural Resources Police, a State
- 22:09Speaker 3: Police helicopter, and crews from five different fire departments. Because
- 22:13Speaker 3: they knew how important this was, and every one of
- 22:15Speaker 3: them knew the odds were not great because kids who
- 22:18Speaker 3: are autistic are often drawn to water, and that's exactly
- 22:23Speaker 3: where they started looking, and that's exactly where they found him,
- 22:26Speaker 3: in a pond not far from home. Now.
- 22:29Speaker 2: Deputy Matthew Camp did not wait for backup. Deputy Camp
- 22:33Speaker 2: went right into the water, waited out, swam to the boy,
- 22:36Speaker 2: carried him back to the shore. Paramedics showed up and
- 22:39Speaker 2: they were on the scene, so they checked him out
- 22:41Speaker 2: and minutes later he was back in his family's arms, safe,
- 22:44Speaker 2: and by all accounts, doing just fine.
- 22:47Speaker 3: And earlier this week the Sheriff's office released the body
- 22:51Speaker 3: camera footage. Of course, they blurred the child's face to
- 22:54Speaker 3: protect his privacy, but it showed everybody exactly what teamwork
- 22:59Speaker 3: under pressure looks like and definitely gave us a story
- 23:02Speaker 3: that made us feel good.
- 23:04Speaker 2: Yep, because no matter what day of the week it is,
- 23:07Speaker 2: it does take a village at times. Nightty seven point

- 24:48Speaker 3: say he was struck by a vehicle while riding an

- 24:54Speaker 3: remained at the scene and the crash is under investigation.

- 25:55Speaker 3: a relationship solely over their ex's annoying nighttime behavior. The
- 26:00Speaker 3: biggest complaint, no surprise, is snoring, tossing and turning, and
- 26:05Speaker 3: hogging the covers rounded out the top three gripes. Forecast
- 26:09Speaker 3: for today, partly cloudy skies highs around eighty three right
- 26:14Speaker 3: now sixty seven in Manassas.
- 26:16Speaker 4: And that's the news.
- 26:16Speaker 2: Remember you get top stories at the top of the
- 26:18Speaker 2: hour when you get up with Toby and Chilly in
- 26:20Speaker 2: the morning. Here a ninety seven point one WASHFM. This
- 26:23Speaker 2: could be one of the smartest things that I've heard
- 26:25Speaker 2: all week. There's a major retailer adding more quiet hours
- 26:31Speaker 2: right for shoppers who get overstimulated easily. Now, we're curious,
- 26:36Speaker 2: what's a place that you think is just too much
- 26:41Speaker 2: call us? And let's talk. If I say over stimulated
- 26:45Speaker 2: to you, what comes to mind ninety seven point one
- 26:48Speaker 2: Wash FM, Toby and Chilly in the morning, what place
- 26:51Speaker 2: is way too loud and over stimulating for you? And
- 26:55Speaker 2: we're talking about this because of the.
- 26:57Speaker 3: Store Sophora, they're expanding their quiet hours. It's a shopping
- 27:01Speaker 3: program that they've got worldwide now and they offer calmer
- 27:04Speaker 3: store experiences where they're going to have lower music and
- 27:08Speaker 3: fewer sense redistractions at certain hours. And it's to make
- 27:12Speaker 3: shopping more comfortable, not just for people who are new
- 27:15Speaker 3: or divergent, but for anybody who prefers a quieter environment.
- 27:19Speaker 2: So if you think, like on Amtrak, the quiet cars
- 27:23Speaker 2: only in a store.
- 27:24Speaker 4: That would be what Sepphor is going for.
- 27:26Speaker 2: Because people are very very serious about that quiet car
- 27:29Speaker 2: on Amtrak.
- 27:30Speaker 4: They don't want to be bothered, they don't want to
- 27:31Speaker 4: be over stimulated.
- 27:32Speaker 3: I'd love for an amusement park to have some quiet hours.
- 27:35Speaker 3: That's the most overstimulating place for at least me to
- 27:39Speaker 3: be because of the smells in an amusement park, the
- 27:42Speaker 3: sounds all those people.
- 27:44Speaker 2: I see you on the amusement park and now do
- 27:47Speaker 2: you one better? What's not your favorite shopping mall at Christmas?
- 27:52Speaker 2: Oh no, from the parking lot, oh no, no, no,
- 27:56Speaker 2: to the mall itself, to all of the stores. Can't
- 28:00Speaker 2: uh huh too much. It is too much. Thank the
- 28:04Speaker 2: baby Haesus for order and delivery by mail, because going
- 28:11Speaker 2: to the mall or any shop really during the holidays,
- 28:16Speaker 2: it's just a nightmare. Eight sixty six ninety seven forty
- 28:20Speaker 2: three sixty one is our number. Good morning in Oxen Hill, Ryan.
- 28:25Speaker 2: What place over stimulates you?
- 28:26Speaker 5: A casino?
- 28:27Speaker 3: What about a casino?
- 28:29Speaker 1: Because every machine's beeping, lights are flashing, and somehow someone
- 28:32Speaker 1: is always yelling like they just won a million bucks.
- 28:35Speaker 3: That's that's fair, valid and true, and then you look
- 28:38Speaker 3: down after all the bells and whistles and go oh,
- 28:40Speaker 3: that was only fifty cents that I wont fifty.
- 28:42Speaker 2: Cents if I say penny slots, you know what I mean?
- 28:47Speaker 3: Wait a minute, it seemed like I did win a
- 28:48Speaker 3: million night. I know.
- 28:49Speaker 2: It's like, please, you did not break the bank. Thank
- 28:55Speaker 2: you for the call. This morning, Ryan and Ellen, Good
- 28:58Speaker 2: morning in Alexander. What place over stimulates you?
- 29:03Speaker 3: It's got to be Costco on a Saturday afternoon, a
- 29:06Speaker 3: men's sister, between the.
- 29:07Speaker 5: Cards, the kids and the samples and people just stopping
- 29:10Speaker 5: in the middle of every aisle.
- 29:11Speaker 3: I'm ready to tack out in ten minutes. I'm overstimulated.
- 29:14Speaker 3: I got to get out of this town.
- 29:16Speaker 2: I bet you you'll hear that song on our Best
- 29:19Speaker 2: of the Eighties and Nineties weekend. It came out in
- 29:21Speaker 2: nineteen ninety nine at the Backstreet Boys.
- 29:25Speaker 4: So are you ready?

- 29:28Speaker 3: nineties weekend today at five o'clock.
- 29:32Speaker 2: Are you pondering starting a new habit? You know after
- 29:34Speaker 2: the weekend on Monday, Well, you might want to rethink
- 29:37Speaker 2: that date. Toby and Tilly in the morning. It is
- 29:39Speaker 2: ninety seven point one Watch FM experts Day.
- 29:41Speaker 3: Wednesday is actually a good day to start a new
- 29:44Speaker 3: habit because by midweek you're already in a groove, so
- 29:48Speaker 3: a new goal it just feels like a small tweak
- 29:50Speaker 3: instead of a big overhaul.
- 29:52Speaker 2: It's a good thing for you because now you have
- 29:54Speaker 2: a reason to go ahead and put off that change
- 29:58Speaker 2: until Wednesday. Thanks for letting us spend some time with
- 30:01Speaker 2: you this week, Toby and Chilly in the Morning, ninety
- 30:04Speaker 2: seven point one wash FM. It's good to know you've

- 30:09Speaker 2: a few moments.
- 30:09Speaker 3: And at five o'clock today, don't forget Sabrina Kanti kicks
- 30:13Speaker 3: off our best of the eighties and nineties weekend and
- 30:15Speaker 3: in that theme, as Toby does every Friday, he chooses
- 30:19Speaker 3: a lyric to get you into a good morning mindset.
- 30:22Speaker 2: So let's go back to nineteen eighty eight for Mike
- 30:25Speaker 2: and the Mechanics. Now you know that Mike Rutherfred he
- 30:27Speaker 2: used to be in the band Genesis with Phil Collins. Right,

- 30:35Speaker 2: today And as we get into the weekend. Is say
- 30:37Speaker 2: it loud, say it clear. You can listen as well
- 30:41Speaker 2: as you hear. Now, what is Mike trying to say
- 30:45Speaker 2: to us with his mechanics. Don't leave kind words unsaid today,
- 30:49Speaker 2: quick text hug, maybe an apology. It could change someone's
