- 0:02This is an unspoiled network podcast. This is spoil Me covering one piece the
- 0:11live action Netflix series Season one, episode eight, Worst in the East.
- 0:20In this episode, I am so bummed that the series is over, you
- 0:26guys. I mean like, I'm surprised at how bummed I am and I
- 0:32knew I would be, and it still has caught me off guard. This
- 0:36was so much fun and I am not excited about the long wait until the
- 0:42next season comes out. Welcome to spoil Me, Welcome to the show everyone.
- 1:07I am Natasha. Thank you very much to Gabby for commissioning this episode.
- 1:14Gabby, this was so so wonderful to cover, and I am so
- 1:19glad that you were able to like jump in and commission the whole thing up
- 1:23front so that I got to watch two episodes a week. What a treat.
- 1:27I completely understand that that's not always possible for people to do with a
- 1:32series, but it is really satisfying when I'm able to just do a back
- 1:38to back viewing like this, And even when it's back to back like this,
- 1:44it's still a longer wait than I would like. So you know,
- 1:49let's see. Amhon is in the chat saying my only complaint about the live
- 1:53action series is that I didn't like the change they made are A, Nami's
- 1:57sister in the village. I really loved how in the manga they trusted in
- 2:01Nami from the start, and it really hurt to see not even her sister
- 2:06believed in her for the live action and Han, I will be totally honest,
- 2:10I didn't remember that that change. So then in the uh, the
- 2:17anime they believed did they know already about like the deal that Nami had made,
- 2:24or were they doing the whole I'm sure she's got good reasons thing and
- 2:29just sort of giving her the benefit of the doubt because I don't remember which
- 2:32one of those it is. But uh, I like, I don't.
- 2:42This is one of those things where I definitely understand what you mean. I
- 2:47could also see that maybe it kind of makes more sense for Nami to have
- 2:54the self loathing that she has when nobody around her understands that she's doing the
- 3:00right thing, that she would like internalize the judgment that she is receiving from
- 3:06them all the time. Oh Ryan says in the anime, they knew about
- 3:14the deal but pretended not to, so Nammy would be able to run away
- 3:17with less. Gill em Hans says, Nammy never knew they knew they played
- 3:22along from the start to keep her safe, and so she wouldn't feel any
- 3:23pressure to finish the deal if it was too hard. Okay, I see,
- 3:29yeah, Like I totally get that, and I oh, here is
- 3:38my thinking. One what I already said with her internalizing some of the loathing,
- 3:43but also two that part of the deal with the crew arriving and like
- 3:52being uncertain where Nammy stands and if she's like really a good person. The
- 3:58theme of that whole thing is, oh my god, I hit my mic
- 4:01I'm so sorry. I do that so rarely that every time I do it
- 4:05feels so humiliating. The point is supposed to be how remarkable it is that
- 4:14despite all the evidence, Lufy still believes in her and has faith in her.
- 4:19So I do kind of like the contrast of like everybody saying the worst
- 4:25things and not believing her and Lufy's still being very stalwart. However, I
- 4:32can understand that like everybody else not having faith in her, just so that
- 4:38Lufy can be the outlier who does might feel a little bit like easy.
- 4:46So yeah, I get what you mean. I have to admit I don't
- 4:49really have that much of a problem with it. I just because Nammy in
- 4:56this show is played a lot darker than she is in the anime, Like
- 5:04she just seems to the anime Nami definitely has guilt, don't get me wrong,
- 5:11but I feel like this Nami is somebody who has been really weighed down
- 5:17in a way that I don't feel from anime Nami the same way. And
- 5:23maybe I would change my tune if I were to rewatch that arc now,
- 5:27you know. But from what I recall, there was always a hint something
- 5:30was going on with her, and there was always a feeling of like,
- 5:34you know, she's having to play things close to the chest. But this
- 5:38was she just brought an angst to the role that I feel makes more sense
- 5:46if everybody is like really intently play like thinking that she has abandoned them,
- 5:54you know what I mean. Em Hans says the manga handled it by having
- 6:00Lufy refuse to even listen to Nami's backstory because he gave zero shits about it.
- 6:06He just believed in her. See but like again, and I like
- 6:16that just being like I don't even need to hear I also though, can
- 6:21understand from a storytelling perspective that it's a lot more efficient to have Lufy need
- 6:29to listen to the backstory so that we get to see it and see everybody's
- 6:33reactions to it. You know, It's just it's a kind of thing where
- 6:38not to say that they couldn't have done it the way they did in the
- 6:41manga and made it work. They could have had Lufy refuse to listen and
- 6:46his friends listen instead, and you know, him not being willing to participate,
- 6:50but the other three going in and chatting with a sister. But I
- 6:58like the fact that that story made most of them think, oh, apparently
- 7:04Nami does suck and is the worst. And Lufy was still refusing to back
- 7:10down on how he felt about her. Sort of underlines how, yeah,
- 7:15even when I hear what seems like a terrible story that paints her in a
- 7:18really bad light, I'm still not buying it. So yeah, you know
- 7:23there, I hate saying there's more than one way to skin a cat.
- 7:28I hate that saying I need to come up with another one. I know
- 7:30there's another one, like there's just another one out there that exists already,
- 7:33an idiom, But I don't know what it is, so if anybody wants
- 7:36to remind me. But yeah, different effects for different things, and also
- 7:44like the efficiency of one way versus another way. It's I can understand your
- 7:49perspective. I also understand why they changed it. Em Hans says, it
- 7:56just attracted a tiny bit from the of course I will help you moment.
- 7:59In my opinion, Lufy and the manga had zero context about why Nami did
- 8:03what she did, and his instant acceptance was so touching in the manga.
- 8:09Uh, I guess that's the part that's not hitting for me. I mean
- 8:13I didn't read the manga. I only watched the anime, But I I
- 8:18don't remember being like particularly moved by that because of the fact that he didn't
- 8:24have any context. It's more like for me, of course I will help
- 8:31you. When the story he has heard seems to paint her in a terrible
- 8:35light, one could argue there's even more behind that. That he has heard
- 8:41a story that would have made other people decide to finally turn their back,
- 8:46and that he has not got that reaction at all could show him as being
- 8:54particularly extraordinary in his faith in his friends. You know, But Michael says
- 9:01there's more than one way to close an umbrella. Michael, I don't think
- 9:07that's true. I think there's only one way to do that, Bud.
- 9:13I feel like that's a real bad example, and I'm pretty sure that's why
- 9:16you picked it, but I just gotta say it, you know. But
- 9:20anyway, so this whole episode, we start off with Nami as a kid
- 9:31getting her tattoo, and I like the fact that they don't have her be
- 9:37a totally stoic badass. She starts screaming because this shit fucking hurts and it
- 9:43would, you know, And we get to see how she is kept in
- 9:48a shackle for a lot of her life, and eventually I think she says
- 9:54that he lets her out on her sixteenth birthday or something like. He says
- 9:58that it's a birthday present that he has let her out. So we then
- 10:05go to our friends walking through the village and reminder, this is not like
- 10:11the part of the village that was already destroyed. This is our Alan coming
- 10:16back and fucking the town up again after they were unable to pay in full,
- 10:22and everything is burnt down, and just like, what's the word skeletal?
- 10:31Really is the feeling that you get, you know, you've just got
- 10:33like the bare timbers. There are still some fires actually going and they're still
- 10:39putting them out. And then everybody shows up from the village and it turns
- 10:46out that Nojiko has told all of them about what it was that Lufy was
- 10:52or that Nami was doing, and they're like, can you forgive us?
- 10:56And she says there was there is nothing to forgive. Cocoa Village is my
- 11:01home, and he says, then it is our turn to sacrifice. We're
- 11:05done living in fear. We're gonna march on our long park if those fishmen
- 11:11want to fight, and she's like, guys, I love you all.
- 11:16I appreciate the thought. You're not going to fight, you're going to get
- 11:22fucking massacred, and you can see as they're getting hype, she is really
- 11:28worried, like this is not her trying to be Oh, I could never
- 11:33accept this. You guys can't risk yourselves for me. This is a very
- 11:37like pragmatic. This is a bad idea. You guys are going to die.
- 11:43It's my fight. You can't do it, and Lufy chimes in with
- 11:52that, No, we're right here, do you see we just talked about
- 11:56this, actually this is our fight, and they start talking about how Arlong
- 12:05has to have some kind of weakness and that's the thing that they need to
- 12:11figure out because he's literally bulletproof, which really is quite intimidating. Let's be
- 12:16real. So we jump over to the marine headquarters, or not the headquarters.
- 12:24I guess it's just a is it the headquarters? It's just like an
- 12:28outpost. I guess there's a building, but it's not like the huge area
- 12:33with the courtyard and all. And we've got Bogart showing up to question Captain
- 12:39Nazumi, the rat faced guy who gets found out pretty quickly. I remember
- 12:43being deeply satisfied by this in the anime as well. This dude doesn't get
- 12:50to go on with his corruption very long. It's nipped in the bud pretty
- 12:54soon. So he is being brought down to speak to the Vice Admiral,
- 13:01and it's a pretty fun scene because it's so clear that he does like that
- 13:11he is full of shit and is just doing this thing every time Kobe speaks
- 13:16up, where he insinuates that like the fact that Kobe is even speaking is
- 13:24proving that he is telling the truth. Like that kind of thing where well,
- 13:30the more you question me, the more I can redirect my irritation and
- 13:35my nervousness about the fact that I am definitely guilty of what you're implying and
- 13:41turn it into righteous indignation, which is something that happens with a like depending
- 13:46on the type of person you're dealing with, a lot of people react this
- 13:50way when they feel guilty. They will flare up and get really pissed because
- 13:56their guilt is fueling their emotions, and so you'll see this a lot,
- 14:01like with conversations where somebody is being accused of, like lying to their partner
- 14:07about something, they would just immediately turn it around with like, oh wow,
- 14:11I can't believe that you don't trust me, and instead of addressing what
- 14:16was brought up, they just try to turn the conversation into how offended they
- 14:22personally are about the accusation. And it's one of those tactics that works really,
- 14:28really well. It's just unlike the point of it is to deflect so
- 14:35that you don't actually pursue the initial line of questioning. There's a reason it's
- 14:41used all the time, and it's extremely effective on the Internet. This is
- 14:48one of those that's not just about like being accused of something you're definitely guilty
- 14:52of, but just derailing by being like, yeah, well and I bet
- 14:56you believe X y Z And they bring up a totally other thing. And
- 15:00I fall for that all the time, And it's so embarrassing because I will
- 15:03look back at a conversation and just be like, Wow, I really took
- 15:07that bait. He just didn't want me to talk about the main thing,
- 15:09and I didn't. I just did exactly what he wanted me to do.
- 15:13It's the worst. So anyway, Yeah, it's increasingly clear as this conversation
- 15:20continues that they know he is full of shit, but that all shakes out
- 15:26a little bit later. We then go back to the island and we have
- 15:33the series of explosions that I believe is all oos up. It's kind of
- 15:39a funny thing because the way it's done is so prop like that It's one
- 15:48of the few times in this show that I've been like, guys, you
- 15:50couldn't afford slightly better effects than this. It really does just look like we
- 15:56had a bunch of flares planted on the ground that we set off with a
- 16:00switch. But ahead of time, I think It's supposed to be that Oosup
- 16:07has used some of his smoke bombs because they were mentioned earlier, and that
- 16:11he sent them flying over the wall ahead of them. But it just doesn't
- 16:17look like that's It does not look like anything fell through the air and hit
- 16:22the ground. It just to me anyway, it just looks like stuff that
- 16:26has been put in place for like one of those shows that you watch when
- 16:30you go to like Universal Studios, and they do like a special effects centered
- 16:37performance on one of those big open outdoor stages you know I'm talking about.
- 16:44So sorry, em Hans says, combine that with a gish gallop and you
- 16:48have the essence of internet debate down Pat, what is a dish gallop?
- 16:53I don't know why, but that feels like a slur. I don't like
- 16:56it. So we've got everybody out here. It's so great, you guys,
- 17:04because I was really excited about Oosap going off separately with fish Lips,
- 17:11and it was very good. It was very satisfying. Everyone's in position ready
- 17:17to fight. Sanji does this thing where he just like draws his foot around
- 17:22into a stance and there's something extremely ballet like about it, and I found
- 17:29it extremely hot. I just he's just yum em Han says, it means
- 17:36to throw a bunch of arguments at the other party, one after another,
- 17:40even if they're inaccurate, so they can't address them all. Ah yeah,
- 17:45I could see that. This is one of those where I'm like, I
- 17:48guess it depends the type of person you are, because I'll definitely take every
- 17:52single argument, copy paste it into a note, take out everything that's irrelevant,
- 17:56and do bullet points for each question and respond to each of them and
- 18:00reply I'll waste all my time Like it's not it's not helping me look good.
- 18:06It's wasting my time, like you know. But again, this is
- 18:10my one of my major faults is I can't resist an argument. I can't
- 18:14resist an argument, and I need to learn to do. I'm getting better,
- 18:21I definitely am getting better, but oh boy, it has taken a
- 18:25long time for me to even really see how bad it is. And the
- 18:30like number of times that now that I'm better at catching myself, the number
- 18:33of times I catch myself I really realize, like this is like the fourth
- 18:38time just this morning, you know what I mean. Oh, it's real
- 18:42bad. It's embarrassing. So anyway, Sanja do just the foot thing.
- 18:48Oos Up is pulling his uh his, what do you call it? I
- 18:53keep wanting to say, rock slinger, sling shot, I had the sling
- 18:57in there. I don't think that Zoro even has his weapon pulled yet though
- 19:03everybody else is prepped. But nope, he just took it out after they
- 19:07start moving, So yeah, he didn't do the same thing as everybody else.
- 19:08His was like a last second thing. And they all split up and
- 19:11begin to fight. And it's interesting because, like, this fight is taking
- 19:15place during broad daylight, which I think might be one of the only times
- 19:19that we have seen a fight like this where it's the only other one that
- 19:26I can think of is at the Marine headquarters when they're up against axe Han
- 19:32Morgan, and I would call that more of like a minor skirmish. This
- 19:37is a pretty big scene, but I'm so used to things like this taking
- 19:41place at night, and there's something about it that I really like with it
- 19:47being in the daytime. There's a fish guy that comes up out of the
- 19:49water, like soaking wet to attack Loofy, and he is right in the
- 19:55midst of fighting with this guy when Zoro literally runs past horizontal and gets this
- 20:00guy from the side, and it's so I mean, I know it's not
- 20:07real, but it's so graceful and wonderful to watch, Like how little effort
- 20:11it feels like he had to put into this in order to save Lufy's ass,
- 20:15and how comprehensive a view of the battlefield he must have to have spotted
- 20:22this. And then he like leaps off and lands, and I'm like,
- 20:26wow, what a badass. But he grimaces and grabs his ribs because he's
- 20:30still injured. And I really appreciated that reminder because I had forgotten that he
- 20:33was still injured. So there's a great moment where us Up gets Fishface fish
- 20:41Lips in the head with one of his like smoke bombs, and fish Lips
- 20:48turns to him and says not in the face, and Usup just goes shit
- 20:55and takes off running, and I was like, Yay, we're getting the
- 20:59thing. That was one of my favorite bits of that arc was oos Up
- 21:03going one and one against the fishmen. So then we go to the map
- 21:08room, Nami is getting the map and Lufi is seeing oh is he let
- 21:14me stop wearing that? When I was twelve, it was a birthday gift.
- 21:18But yeah, he's seeing the cuffs and you can see Loofy like he
- 21:21is so mad. He is really feeling some emotions right now. And it's
- 21:26almost like a relief when Arlong walks in, because this dude is going to
- 21:30be on the receiving end of some rage on Lufy's part. And y'all,
- 21:37can I just say the envy that I feel for Loufy in this moment,
- 21:48Like, I have no doubt that everybody listening to this has one of those
- 21:56friends who's a great person despite all the odds that were stacked against them.
- 22:04And there is like one or maybe two people that was a primary like antagonist
- 22:15in this person's life. Maybe their father was physically abusive, maybe their mother
- 22:22was like really verbally abusive or absent, you know, maybe there was an
- 22:27abandonment thing. And you feel this deep desire to inflict some kind of punishment
- 22:41on a person who wronged your friend who is so great and doesn't believe that
- 22:48they're great a lot of the time, because these this trauma that has been
- 22:52inflicted on them has like permanently affected their sense of self and the way they
- 22:55see themselves. And so you have these fantasies about, like, for instance,
- 23:04just going to your friend's mom's house and slashing our tires, you know,
- 23:11or you know, maybe just like starting some kind of like vicious rumor
- 23:17about her, just because they're a bad person who has never made up for,
- 23:25apologize for, or even necessarily acknowledged what they did. And it's petty
- 23:30and it won't help things, and you know that, so you're not gonna
- 23:34do it because it would just harm your friend and they would be upset,
- 23:37and possibly your friend still has genuine affection for this person who has purposely harmed
- 23:44them, and so you have to respect that, even though you find it
- 23:48baffling, But you want very much to be able to like do something for
- 23:56me. If you're listening Candace, it's Candace's husband who is such a bad
- 24:06man in like everything way that you could imagine a man being a bad person
- 24:12that I actively fantasize about like tracking him down and just shooting him in the
- 24:19head. I do like it's just a thing that happens. When I hear
- 24:23a story about him, I'm like, how would they tie me to the
- 24:27crime. I just feel like if he were to be shot by somebody like
- 24:33me who is so outside this, Like I don't think they would be able
- 24:37to put it together. I don't know, And I am just so envious
- 24:42that Loofy gets to feel this rage towards somebody who has wronged Nami from when
- 24:48she was a kid and immediately have a totally valid means of attacking him that
- 24:57is relevant currently and vents that anger and frustration. So anyway, all that
- 25:06to say, Arlong comes in. He's got his giant, like you know,
- 25:10the sword that's I don't even know if you want to call it a
- 25:12sword. I think you would technically say it is, but it's got that
- 25:15like do you want to say it's a serrated blade when it's comprised of like
- 25:22eight giant triangles? Does that count as serration anymore? I feel like it
- 25:27doesn't. But uh yeah, he comes in and it's just like, oh
- 25:32hey, Loofy, welcome to Arlong Park. And he starts laughing, and
- 25:36this dude's laugh he is very good. And we cut then to Oose Up
- 25:41and he is sprinting through the woods, just trying to get away from fish
- 25:47Lips, who is chasing him the way the camera does, like this is
- 25:51always something that happens for me. In chase scenes, the camera will occasionally
- 25:55be behind the person who is running for their lives, and it's so hard
- 26:00to tell is the view the camera has the actual view of the person behind
- 26:07them, because that seems very very close. And then it'll pull back and
- 26:11you'll be like, oh, okay, no, it's they're a couple of
- 26:12yards past that. Michael says, party banner sword. You're right, it
- 26:21does look like party banners like those. The triangles are boat ass highs.
- 26:26Yeah, pretty much. Em Hans says, Loofy is pure id good thing.
- 26:32His base impulses are all only feeding himself or helping his nakama. Yes,
- 26:40yeah, he has. There's a that's like the childlike quality about him,
- 26:45like kids are so id, you know. So it makes a lot
- 26:48of sense. It's just whatever immediately is in front of him that he is
- 26:53going to be completely invested in. So this is when fish Slips does his
- 27:00like shooting. It's unclear to me because he shoots what I think are basically
- 27:07like bullets of liquid. When he did this earlier, he did it with
- 27:11fire, like he was breathing fire and that was what lit the booze up.
- 27:17But uh, I don't remember this in the anime, and that is
- 27:22not at all to say it didn't happen, because like, I feel like
- 27:23it probably did, but I just didn't remember that this was a feature of
- 27:30his. And it's really really weird to like watch them make this happen in
- 27:33live action. So then we get some priceless back and forth with Soanji and
- 27:44Zoro who are arguing about who's like doing the better kills and the most kills,
- 27:48whether he needed his help or not, you know, things like this.
- 27:53We have this speech to Loofy from our Long about our Long being forced
- 28:00into slavery or not Arlong but his people, and Lufi says all people should
- 28:06live as they choose, nobody should be forced into slavery. And he says,
- 28:10keep your sympathies, boy, our abuse and persecution end now. And
- 28:15it was sort of funny because I was like, I don't know that that's
- 28:18sympathies, sir. I mean, I guess it is, but it's more
- 28:21just like a statement of fact that is very much backed up by the way
- 28:23Luviy lives his life. But you guys, I will reiterate my main complaint
- 28:32here than I had last time, But I feel even more strongly, based
- 28:36on the way this scene goes, we needed to have seen some of this
- 28:41fishman enslavement. It feels almost like Arlong could be making this up, and
- 28:48I know that he isn't because nobody argues with him. Nobody's trying to say
- 28:52that doesn't happen. But I feel like never actually seeing any evidence of this
- 29:00at all does sort of undermine the overall effect of his stance against it,
- 29:10and I think that the only reason that they don't show it is to avoid
- 29:17a kill Monger effect, which is to say, in Black Panther, kill
- 29:26Monger shows up with some very real grievances, and there's like a genuine sense
- 29:36for the first two thirds of the movie this guy's right. He's making genuine
- 29:41points like this is real valid complaints that he has, and I can't help
- 29:49but think that there aren't a lot of alternatives to what he's doing. And
- 29:55then in the last third of the movie they have to undercut all of his
- 30:00arguments by having him be abusive toward women, just like misogynistic, and they
- 30:07really need to give him other major flaws to sort of like get us off
- 30:15his side, because they realized I think they realized in the script that they
- 30:18make him so sympathetic for so long that there was no way to revel in
- 30:26his victory unless they made him really despicable in some other way. So they
- 30:33took away the power of his overall thesis by being like, yeah, but
- 30:37he's a shitty dude though, which you know, I mean, okay,
- 30:41But also those arguments are still valid and still out there whatever. I feel
- 30:47like that was sort of the thing with Arlong, that they felt maybe if
- 30:51they showed us fishmen being enslaved, it would be really hard in some ways
- 30:57for us to not root for long, because it felt like the cause he's
- 31:02allegedly fighting for is actually just because the slave enslavement is super unfair and really
- 31:10gross and exploitive and awful, so they can't let us see it. All
- 31:15we get to see is our long oppressing human beings, but we can never
- 31:21feel like maybe the humans deserve it a little bit, you know, like
- 31:26we aren't allowed to have that nuance, and they keep us from seeing it
- 31:30to avoid that happening. But it's not to say that I would think the
- 31:36people of Cocoa Village deserve what's happening to them, because of overall, you
- 31:41know, like it doesn't seem like anybody on this island participated in enslavement,
- 31:44and so he's just targeting random people. But despite that, I still think
- 31:51that there might be something to that of just wanting things to be a little
- 31:56less nuanced in our viewers, despite trying to add a little nuance into the
- 32:04script. Does that make sense? So anyway, the whole conversation here,
- 32:13like the two of them go back and forth, and I love this.
- 32:19He swings at Loofy with that fucking sword and uh, this thing is so
- 32:27crazy looking. I don't know what it is made out of. I have
- 32:31to assume it's all foam. But uh, he says to Lufy as he
- 32:38swings at him and stops a like millimeter before his throat. Could you have
- 32:44used Nami so effectively? And Lufy says, use, And he puts his
- 32:51hand directly on the blade and starts to bleed as he's holding it in place,
- 32:58and yanks it out of our long hand and says, Nami isn't some
- 33:01tool to be used. She's a person with wants and dreams of her own
- 33:07own, and you took those away from her. You're no better than that
- 33:10axe hand guy or that fake butler or anyone else who tries to hurt other
- 33:15people. So I'm just gonna kick your ass like I did theirs, because
- 33:22no one messes with my friends, which is a line that they used in
- 33:24the trailer. And I think that he breaks that weapon. I I like
- 33:31there was a look to it when he you know, pulled it away from
- 33:36Arlong's grip, like it had snapped, but I'm not positive if that happened.
- 33:40But yeah, so we have the two of them fighting. I'm not
- 33:45gonna do a blow by blow of their fight because it's just so it's a
- 33:51real similar situation of like Loofy having to realize that the way he fights regular
- 33:59people is not how he can approach things with Arlong, Like Arlong is working
- 34:02with a completely different set of skills, and Loofy eventually decides that he is
- 34:07going to start attacking the actual building, which I like that Arlonge reacts so
- 34:16strongly to the destruction of the building. I feel like, under other circumstances,
- 34:23this might seem a little bit goofy, but all things considered, it
- 34:28kind of hits for me at this point, so I like it. So
- 34:32we go back of course, to Ousap, who is cowering behind a fallen
- 34:38log while he's getting shot at I've put in quotation marks by fish lips.
- 34:44He stands up just for a second to try and be like, oh,
- 34:46I'm gonna you know, I'll get you now, and gets knocked down immediately.
- 34:52We go back to Soanji and Zorro, and Zoro's struggling with his wound,
- 35:00and Sonji says, you look tired, maybe you should take a break,
- 35:04which I'm genuinely like, sanjy, babe, he is injured. There's
- 35:10no need to be a total asshole about it, but you know it's fine.
- 35:16And oh my god, the like flip around that he does, it's
- 35:23really fun to watch. I would have loved to see. I'm sure that
- 35:27there's a place to find this. I've just been watching. I've been avoiding
- 35:30watching anything because spoilers, obviously, but I would really like to see the
- 35:37footage of them like on wires for these different scenes, because I bet that's
- 35:42really really fun to see. And of course they're each arguing about which one
- 35:47of them is the most valuable to Loofy and Buggy from the Bag is saying,
- 35:54oooh, someone's feeling threatened. Get me back to my body where close
- 36:00I can feel my toes. I can help you guys win this thing.
- 36:06And they indeed let his head out of the bag. He goes to his
- 36:09body and escapes from the bindings there and then jumps down, smiles at them,
- 36:19gives them the finger, and then says, hey, so I'm gonna
- 36:25get out of here, and flees. I love to make things I'd love
- 36:31to make things right, but it's time to exit stage left. And that's
- 36:37it for Buggy. And this is a pretty great exit for him. I
- 36:42mean, there is everything about this is in character totally. Ryan s says
- 36:52it was a serious moment, but I laughed out loud when he said fake
- 36:54butler. Em Hans says he shatters it in the manga. Here he just
- 36:59breaks. Not as impressive, but harder to do in live action. That's
- 37:02true, Michael says, if you're being compared to a fake butler, you
- 37:06should really re examine your life choices. Yeah, there are some things that
- 37:09when somebody accuses you of a thing, you just want to stop for a
- 37:13second and be like, oh no, you know. Every now and then
- 37:16there's a particular h so we have fish Lips, who is still in pursuit,
- 37:25and Oosup, who is down, is bloody like concerning, and I'm
- 37:34watching this like, wow, he really was more injured than I thought he
- 37:38would be. And fish Lips assumes that Oosup is dead. But it's ketchup.
- 37:45I had forgotten the ketchup trick, you guys, totally forgotten. So
- 37:52he stands up and says, neck flaps, what are you doing. You
- 37:55haven't even tried my hot sauce. Well, my skin is tougher than bullets,
- 38:04so that won't matter. Maybe you should try one of my fire rounds.
- 38:08I'm a fishman. I don't catch fire. Maybe you don't, but
- 38:15alcohol does. And he shoots it right into the bottle. And this dude,
- 38:23the way this flame goes up, it's again, you guys, it's
- 38:31not really well done. I like, I almost like it better because of
- 38:37how jankie it looks. But it's so obvious that that we just like cut
- 38:45to somebody like a model of a person, like a dummy, standing over
- 38:52a flame that's coming up out of the ground. Like the whole way this
- 38:59angle is done and everything it's not right. It doesn't look like what allegedly
- 39:06is supposed to be happening is what's actually happening. It doesn't matter in the
- 39:12grand scheme of things, but it just makes me kind of go, like,
- 39:16it's really weird that y'all are are excellent when it comes to like handling
- 39:22our martial artists on wires and stuff, and you can't seem to nail the
- 39:27fire aspects of things. Considering how much this is Usup's primary weapon, I
- 39:35want them to get this down a little bit better because Oosup is a bit
- 39:40of a joke in general a lot of the time. So when he has
- 39:45his little victories, I want them to feel real, you know what I
- 39:49mean. I really want those to have like an impact. And it's just
- 39:52really hard, like I wish that I was able to cap because it's so
- 39:59so quick. But the moment where he gets lit up, if you watch
- 40:06that and really really watch it, you'll see what I'm talking about. There's
- 40:09also when he says, maybe you don't, but alcohol does. There's too
- 40:15long a pause between when Usup says that and when he actually fires. If
- 40:22this amount of time had really passed, the fishermen would have registered what he
- 40:27meant and would have dropped the bottle but you know, so like it's just
- 40:34the whole moment. I really really like this part of the arc. I'm
- 40:37glad that they like went through and did the whole thing, but there are
- 40:45just some things with the effects and the timing of it that I feel like
- 40:47undermine it a little bit. Eventually, though, Usup goes back to his
- 40:52friends and is like, al right, guys, I'm here to save you.
- 40:55And then he sees that they've taken care of like fifteen dudes all by
- 40:59themselves, so arlong and loofy fight. Sanji and Zoro are still continuing to
- 41:07fight. I love that. Uh, the moment where Sanji goes up against
- 41:15this like really the big dude with like the bunny ears he is. This
- 41:20guy is so enormous. He says Nami is a fool to have her faith
- 41:27in such weak compatriots, and Sanji says, you don't ever bad mouth gna
- 41:36me, and Zoro just says, now you've done it. Oh. There's
- 41:45something about Zorro's delivery of that line that I found really fun, Like he
- 41:51manages to really nail the sincerity of like, oh, buddy, you shouldn't
- 41:55have said that with like I can't believe this is the shit that sets this
- 41:59guy off, and it's just a perfect like pitch for that that line delivery.
- 42:06But yeah, so Sanji does these kicks where this guy doesn't go flying
- 42:12like a lot of the others did, but every kick seems to sort of
- 42:15dent him in a way that previously he had just caught Sanji's ankle with his
- 42:22hand and stopped him dead. That does not happen this time, And I
- 42:30really like that. We have a callback of Zoro being like Mutan Shat and
- 42:36he says all the great fighters call out their finishing moves, and Zoro looking
- 42:42at him for a moment and then saying, yeah, you're gonna fit in
- 42:44just fine, And there's like so much begrudging admiration, you know, I
- 42:51think, the not admiration in the fact that he is doing that, but
- 42:53admiration in the fact that, wow, you really align with Loofy in a
- 42:57way that I kind of wish I I did or understood myself, you know.
- 43:04And then Nami comes running out, and I love Sanji opening his arms
- 43:07so excited to see her, and she just flies right the fuck past him
- 43:13into Zorro and oosop, which makes sense because she doesn't fucking know Sanji like,
- 43:19you know, and he manages to look so hurt and like trying to
- 43:23to sort of maintain his cool even though he got cut dead. And while
- 43:31they are all standing there, the building our lungs, like whole tower there
- 43:37is beginning to shake, and they're like, do you think that Lufy's all
- 43:40right in there? And the place goes down and they are all like,
- 43:49oh god, is he okay? Like it really doesn't look as if Lufy
- 43:53is going to survive this, you know. And then of course, out
- 43:58of the top of the pile of rubble he busts out and he like it
- 44:05explodes upward like he was jumped on a trampoline, and he yells, Nami,
- 44:13you are our friend, We are your crew, and I love it.
- 44:19Sanji just starts laughing and it's so genuine, like it really, I
- 44:23just love it. I love this moment, and Louvy himself starts laughing,
- 44:30and pretty soon kind of everybody is sort of like even Zoro is going,
- 44:36well shit and has that like kind of smirk on his face, like this
- 44:39fucking guy, and it's really sweet. I really really liked this. There
- 44:45are times where a script calls for everybody to laugh and it will feel very
- 44:52unnatural, and I really believed it with this scene, and that's tough to
- 44:57pull off, you know. I just want to mention too, like Nomme's
- 45:01clothes, she's wearing that like green cloud top for most of that, and
- 45:07then when we transfer to the next scene, she's wearing a yellow like checkered
- 45:14I guess you would say her yellow plaid dress. And I'm pretty sure that's
- 45:16accurate to the the anime. And I really am excited now that I'm like
- 45:24fully through and spoiled that I could probably watch some like side by side comparisons
- 45:32of the show, the live action and the anime. Now, I'm not
- 45:37gonna go look for them, because I am sure that there are some out
- 45:40there that contains spoilers for things beyond where the live action is at. But
- 45:46if anybody who's listening to this wants to share a particularly good like YouTube or
- 45:52TikTok that does side by side comparisons of a lot of moments, I eat
- 45:57that shit up, So feel free to drop it in the Discord channel and
- 46:01let me know about it. So we have Sanji hitting on Nami's sister,
- 46:09unsuccessfully giving Zoro a hard time because he came back for seconds, and I
- 46:17love it. Must have liked it. If you're coming back for seconds,
- 46:21it was fine. That empty plates is different. Well, I have to
- 46:24keep my strength up even with your cooking and these two. There is a
- 46:32really nice dynamic here. I like it. I cannot wait to see more
- 46:37of this. Of course, USAP is telling everybody the story of how he
- 46:43defeated Arlong all by himself, even though Lufi is standing right there. It's
- 46:49so wild to me that USAP feels fine with like just flat out fucking lying
- 46:58and taking the credit. It's, of course fine because it's loofy. So
- 47:01he's just like, yeah, three cheers for Captain Ousap. But anybody other
- 47:07than movie would be like, really the you know what I mean? Em
- 47:15Han says another nitpick, The guy playing Sanji is too charismatic. The comedy
- 47:20of Sanji in the manga was that he's a really good looking and smooth guy
- 47:23until he encounters a woman, in which case he becomes a ridiculously corny tryhard
- 47:29and so he repels women instead. When I see this Sanji deliver his flirty
- 47:34lines. I don't know how women aren't falling at his feet, no real
- 47:37good way to do the super goofy faces of the manga and anime. I
- 47:40guess no, see, this is the difference between us em Han because I
- 47:45find Sanji really really fine and hot until he does the hitting on and then
- 47:50I'm like, ah, dude, stop it. Like I am repelled by
- 47:52it. When he's like flirting with Nami when she's ordering a drink and he's
- 47:59like winking at her and just being like something sweet for someone sweet, It's
- 48:06awful, Like I hate it so much, the line with her sister and
- 48:09being like I could arrange for some private lessons. You're just like, dude,
- 48:14No, Like, I definitely see him as charismatic in general, but
- 48:21he lays it on way too thick every time there's a woman. I feel
- 48:24like he hits a really good note for like smarmy instead of being so over
- 48:30the top goofy as he is in the manga, which I don't know how
- 48:32that really would have translated. Just turning almost oily and gross kind of accomplishes
- 48:39the same thing to me. So like, I definitely get what you're saying,
- 48:45and I'm sure that there are some women who would be like very into
- 48:50the way he's flirting. So it may not be quite over the top enough,
- 48:53but for me, I cringe so bad, Like I hate it.
- 48:59I hate it so much. The wink, the wink is so awful.
- 49:01I just every time I think of that, I'm like, but anyway,
- 49:07so yeah, three cheers for Captain Usop. We couldn't have done it without
- 49:10him. Everybody starts cheering and oos up is just so gratified. This is
- 49:15what he wanted. This is everything you know. It's so cute, and
- 49:20then it gets ruined because the Marines turn up and fucking Garp he orders.
- 49:31This is so like, I can't I don't remember anything about the way this
- 49:37winds up going when we finally meet Garp, but I know that the scene
- 49:40is like invented. We've got Kobe and he directly defies Garp and is like,
- 49:54you have to go and retrieve Loofy and arrest him because of the distres
- 50:00he committed in him being a pirate, and Kobe straight up says no,
- 50:05he was not in the wrong. He saved Cocoa Village, he like,
- 50:09and he's like, you have your orders, and Kobe stands by it and
- 50:13says Noope, won't do it, and he says, you know what the
- 50:19punishment is for like disobeying orders, and Kobe says, I disagree with the
- 50:23order, and then here comes Helmepa being like, yeh, me too,
- 50:31Yeah, I don't think this is right either, and I was like a
- 50:37word. I didn't think Howmepa was going to like show a spine within this
- 50:44season. I kind of thought that I might take a little bit longer,
- 50:45but I like it. I'm fine with it, And ultimately what it turns
- 50:53out this is is a test for Kobe because he Garp wants people who do
- 51:04the right thing and do not just follow orders. But of course at this
- 51:07time it doesn't look good, and I like too that he specifically turns to
- 51:13everybody else and is like, does anybody else want to throw in with these
- 51:15two? Giving all of them an opportunity to do the right thing, But
- 51:20they think what He's looking for is obedient, so nobody else speaks up,
- 51:23which basically just solidifies as assertion later that like, most people just do what
- 51:29they're told, and that's not what I'm looking for. So this is when
- 51:37Garb says, Loufy, last chance, give it up, And then when
- 51:43he says, show me what you got. Loufy goes to punch him,
- 51:47he dodges, and then he punches Loofy and Lufy goes flying like thirty feet.
- 51:57I love this. I don't want to fight you. Grandpa been fighting
- 52:00me your entire life. And they go back and forth, exchanging these blows.
- 52:06Garp is in this immaculate white suit the whole time, which like is
- 52:12setting a perfect tone against the backdrop of this charred, destroyed village. It's
- 52:19it's a combo of him visually just standing out, but also the practical aspect
- 52:23of there is no way you should be able to wear white in these surroundings
- 52:29and still look as put together as you do. Lufy is getting thrown into
- 52:34ash and debris all over the place, so he looks like hell because he's
- 52:40covered in dirt. He's rolling on the ground. But this dude is out
- 52:45here just fucking immaculate. It's just really something. So this is when Loofy
- 52:54decides he's gonna do gum gum rocket and he's really gonna make a stand,
- 53:00and he goes flying at his grandfather, who punches him while he's in mid
- 53:06air. You really think this is like the final victory blow. It is
- 53:10not It is just so embarrassing, and Garp is like, you don't get
- 53:17what the fucking world is. The Grand Line isn't a child's game, and
- 53:22he's got Loofy by the throat, and Luphy says, I'm not giving up
- 53:27on my dream. I am going to the Grand Line and I will find
- 53:31the one piece. And there's a long pause as he starts laughing, looking
- 53:37down at his grandfather, and we have the flashback to gold Roger and the
- 53:43way he was laughing, and Garp lets go of him and looks around and
- 53:50at the sky and starts laughing himself, and it's just like, well,
- 53:55then I have to mention too. Like again his crouched on the ground,
- 54:00just covered in debris, and Garp is still absolutely spotless. He's wearing as
- 54:08like with this white suit a black shirt with like an aqua tie for the
- 54:14marine colors. It's a great look. I love it so much. And
- 54:20then he's like, all right, guys, go and ar rest arlongskys.
- 54:23There's still a lot of them around, so go take care of them,
- 54:27and just sort of like leaves the situation for now. The corrupt rat face
- 54:35comes forward and is like, well, what about these straw hats? And
- 54:37as he's in the middle of like whining about them, Nami comes up behind
- 54:43him and smashes him in the back of the head with her staff. And
- 54:46I had forgotten that was, like, I think that's how it goes in
- 54:50the MAGA, because I think I remember him like wishing a little bit that
- 54:54she was the one to finish our along off and being kind of unsatisfied with
- 55:00the fact that it's only this dude that she manages to help take down.
- 55:04But anyway, so this is when Garp turns to Loovi and is like,
- 55:10I needed to make sure that you were really fucking committed, and Lufy is
- 55:15like, you were testing me, couldn't you have gone a little bit easier?
- 55:19And Garp says, where's the fun in that? He is correct,
- 55:22That's the point of a test is that it's possible that you will fail it.
- 55:28That's the uh, you know, that's the whole thing. And Garp
- 55:32takes Loofy by the shoulders and says to him, you're on your own now,
- 55:37and of course Lufy has to do the no, I'm not. And
- 55:43I'm wondering if this signals that the Marines won't be such a thing, or
- 55:47at least Garp and Kobe won't be such a thing in the second season,
- 55:53but I have to assume they will be. I would guess that they probably
- 55:58have contracts that would include them, so we'll see how that goes. But
- 56:00the way that he says, you're on your own now, if I were
- 56:05reading this in a book, I would think this would be the last time
- 56:07I'd see him for quite a while. I'd assume he'd come back eventually,
- 56:10but you know, so then we have a scene with Nami who is sitting
- 56:15by her mother's grave and talking to her about going off on adventures and wishing
- 56:24that she understood way back when all of the things that her mother sacrificed,
- 56:30and I just really this touched me a lot, because this is just the
- 56:36truth of growing older. You have issues with people. And it's not to
- 56:40say that you don't grow up and also realize people were shittier than you realized,
- 56:44But there are a lot of times where you understand that you had a
- 56:46very childish understanding of their motivations or their concerns, and once you get old
- 56:52enough to sort of look back, you go, oh my god, they
- 56:54were giving up a lot, or they were very rightful, worried about me,
- 57:00or you know whatever, and you wish that you could go back in
- 57:05time and talk to your younger self and be like, you've got to stop
- 57:08giving them such a hard time. They are doing their best, you know.
- 57:14And I really want to mention here, and I'm this is going to
- 57:16like be something that I'm I'm going to couch in a kind of language that
- 57:22I hope gets my point across, because I feel like what I'm saying could
- 57:27sound like body shaming, and that's the opposite of what I'm trying to do
- 57:31here. It's a difficult thing because of course talking about Nami's figure when I
- 57:39haven't talked a lot about the other guys, well Zoro's I guess, and
- 57:43a little bit of songic, but you know what I'm saying. But there's
- 57:45a reason why, because women have been under a particular microscope in this respect,
- 57:50and I have grown up with that kind of trauma at the forefront of
- 57:53my experience as a woman. So Nam is so strong looking like, she
- 58:05looks healthy, She looks like somebody who was on a farm and has muscle
- 58:10mass and is just like you know, what I'm saying, and I just
- 58:16every time I see her in any outfit on this show, it like makes
- 58:22me stop and realize how fucked up my perception of women's figures is. Like
- 58:31Nami would have been considered too fat for television very very recent like you know,
- 58:39talking like ten fifteen years ago, she would have been seen as too
- 58:44fat, which look at her like that's asinine, but it's a fact.
- 58:50Anybody above a size four was pretty much not allowed. And I'm gonna put
- 58:53Nami at maybe a six, I would say, like an eight in pants,
- 58:59because that girls a mass on her and that it's so absolutely unforgivable that
- 59:07topping out at an eight is like wow, how impressive that she's on screen
- 59:14at all and she isn't hidden away like some kind of freak. But honestly,
- 59:19you guys, there have been a lot of things surfacing lately, like
- 59:23headlines from the nineties that were body shaming women that you see it with the
- 59:29eyes of today, where our standards for bodies have changed a lot, and
- 59:34they always do, like our evolution on what we consider peak beauty is different
- 59:40in all decades, Like there's always a different look that is very popular,
- 59:45right now we're in a super super curvaceous period, which means that the like
- 59:52boobless, hipless look of the nineties looks so so extreme now. And there
- 1:00:02was like a thing that was circulating of Mariah Carey and she must be a
- 1:00:07size two and the headline was Mariah Carey's porky pins. You can google this,
- 1:00:15I'm sure it will come up. You would never believe that this was
- 1:00:20a picture that they were using to body shame a woman for being too fat
- 1:00:23if you didn't see it in print. It's absolutely beyond belief. So every
- 1:00:29time I sort of stop and think, God, non me is really really
- 1:00:34pretty and like feels very strong, and why is that so noticeable to me?
- 1:00:39Why am I so aware of it? I then have to sort of
- 1:00:45like stop and go oh, because we're often shown very exceedingly slender women that
- 1:00:54I think of that as being the norm. And so she stands out when
- 1:01:00you know, like, really, it's not like that body type. Isn't
- 1:01:05a body type that's valid and exists, But when it's all you're allowed to
- 1:01:08put on camera, it has an effect. And her sister joins her and
- 1:01:16tells her about how proud she is of her and if there's ever a time
- 1:01:21where she wants to come home again, She's always got a place, you
- 1:01:24know. And then Kobe comes to visit Loofy. It's great. I love
- 1:01:31this. Lufy is eating a tangerine and Kobe says, I'm not here as
- 1:01:36a marine. Lufy, I'm here as your friend and presents him with his
- 1:01:40wonted poster Nazumi's last act of revenge and it's a hundred million berries I think,
- 1:01:51or a million I don't remember. Hold on, I'm going to see.
- 1:01:53It's the highest bounty in the East. Blue Lufy is so psyched his
- 1:02:00acting in this, with how thrilled he is this it's just a kid on
- 1:02:05Christmas morning, Like he is nailing it. It's so great. I love
- 1:02:08it. And he gives Kobe this big hug and yeah, they have their
- 1:02:15goodbyes. It's just very sweet. I love the actor place Kobe, and
- 1:02:22I was just very happy for Loofy. Here we jump ahead to Sangi,
- 1:02:28who is so pleased that the or not Sanjy sorry us up. The back
- 1:02:34of his head is on the poster, so he considers himself also like a
- 1:02:37part of this. Sorry guys, maybe if you work a little harder,
- 1:02:42you'll get a bounty too, and Zorro's like, dude, that's gonna mean
- 1:02:50everybody's gunning for you. And I love how much us Up changes his tune.
- 1:02:53He's been chortling until it's mentioned, like yeah, this is gonna mean
- 1:02:59you have to fight more in the suddenly like oh, maybe I don't love
- 1:03:01this, and Louvie says, well, it's a good thing we're not staying
- 1:03:05in the East Blue. Then we're going to the Grand Line, and we
- 1:03:12get a little series of you know, different people who have gotten the newspaper
- 1:03:16we have that it's not a pelican, is it an albatross? I think
- 1:03:21that delivers the papers back in Lufy's like hometown, and you know everybody is
- 1:03:27seeing this. It's the woman who runs the bar there. And then we
- 1:03:31have us Up's girl whose name I can literally never remember, and hers seeing
- 1:03:37this, and then we've got Zeph finding it and Zeph's hat. I don't
- 1:03:45know if we just hadn't seen Zeph's hat in the show at all, or
- 1:03:50if I had not noticed because so much else was happening, But it's the
- 1:03:52three foot tall chef hat, and it's great. I love it, but
- 1:03:57yeah, Zeph pins it up and like he's got it in like the central
- 1:04:02area of the kitchen, and I was like, that is such a weird
- 1:04:05thing to do, but also I like it. And then a great bit
- 1:04:10it's thirty million berries, that's what it is, Buggy peeling Lufy's face off
- 1:04:15of because like his poster got put over Buggy's poster, and he says,
- 1:04:21I'll kill the little shit myself, which you could think is just for the
- 1:04:26berry, but it really feels like it's an insult that Lufy has outpaced him.
- 1:04:30And then Alvida from the corner says if you don't, then I will,
- 1:04:35and she raises a glass to him, and I was like, oh,
- 1:04:39Alvida's back. I was really glad. I want more of her.
- 1:04:43She was underused, and I really kind of hope that they don't do the
- 1:04:45thing with her where she eats the berry or the devil fruit that makes her
- 1:04:51like skinny, because I want this Alvida. Come on, let's just let
- 1:04:57a fat girl have her time, you know. So yeah, Garp is
- 1:05:03like, I guess there is some of me and him after all, and
- 1:05:08Kobe comes in as the whole I don't regret my actions and Garp being like,
- 1:05:12yeah, you guys are going to get direct training for me now,
- 1:05:15so I hope you're ready because I am going to whip your fucking asses.
- 1:05:19We have Shanks who he gets visited by uh me Hawk and gets presented with
- 1:05:32this news. It's a fun little scene. He's really hungover, so he's
- 1:05:38like, Mehawk, I don't want to do this right now. Man,
- 1:05:42I'm just recovering. But Mehawk says, you're not even half the man you
- 1:05:45used to be. Shanks says I could take you, and he says and
- 1:05:51with one arm tuck behind my back, and then he just starts cracking up,
- 1:05:56and so do all his men. But yeah, Meehawk is thevering the
- 1:06:00paper and everybody is so pleased and just you know, throwing a party to
- 1:06:06celebrate mi Haawk. When he's like this, calls for a drink. I
- 1:06:12thought you were hungover, And when they ask him, don't you want to
- 1:06:15stay and have some, he does one of those indulgent like I'll do you
- 1:06:19a favor by staying, even though clearly this is the guy who needs some
- 1:06:25friends, Like we get it you're a lone wolf, but also have some
- 1:06:28have some friends and some drinks. We go to the Going Mary and they
- 1:06:34have the tangerine trees on the ship, which is lovely. I'm really glad
- 1:06:39that they kept that. And uh, then we've got the beginnings of we
- 1:06:45have the reveal of the sigil I guess the Jolly Roger, and once again
- 1:06:56Lufy's reaction to this in the nation, with his reaction to finding out that
- 1:07:01he is like the most wanted man in the East Blue. He is so
- 1:07:09overwhelmed. I just loved it the whole way he played this. And Nami
- 1:07:15is looking at the map of how to get to the Grand Line and she's
- 1:07:17like, the river looks like it's going up a mountain, which is not
- 1:07:20how anything works. So I kind of think somebody drew this wrong. And
- 1:07:27Lufy basically is like, we'll worry about that when we get there, so
- 1:07:30let's just take it one thing at a time for right now. Then we
- 1:07:36go to Sanji and he's like, all right, we have to have a
- 1:07:43cast off ceremony, and he pulls out a barrel. I had no idea
- 1:07:45what this was referencing, and I don't know if this is a common thing.
- 1:07:49I don't I feel like this happened in the anime, and I had
- 1:07:51a similar question then. But they do they like, I'm gonna put my
- 1:07:57foot up on the barrel and I'm gonna pledge what my desire is, my
- 1:08:00dream, you know. So they each do it, They each put their
- 1:08:02foot up, and it's a uh, you know, a moment of unity
- 1:08:11with the group, and it's cute. It's just weird because I've never seen
- 1:08:15it done with feet this way. So yeah, Lufy thrusts his fist in
- 1:08:21the air and says, We're gonna find the grand line and nothing is going
- 1:08:25to stand in our way. We then get the end credit title credit of
- 1:08:31like the one Piece coming at Us and going past. But we've got a
- 1:08:36military march that begins to play, and a smoky room and a man who
- 1:08:43is smoking two cigars and he uses one to burn Lufy's face out of his
- 1:08:51his wonted poster in a very dramatic So yeah, we've got Captain Smoker on
- 1:08:57deck, guys, And I'm really really interested to see this is like his
- 1:09:01back is to the camera. I am going to assume that they haven't actually
- 1:09:06cast him yet, so they just picked somebody to wear a wig and they're
- 1:09:09gonna, you know, but I'm excited that he is here, and you
- 1:09:14guys know how much I enjoy him as a character. So, oh my
- 1:09:17god, there's so much in the chat. I am so sorry, guys,
- 1:09:20but I'm not gonna be able to go over all of it because I'm
- 1:09:24over time already. Ps. Michael says, I like being able to see
- 1:09:30Lufy's hat reflected in your glasses. Oh that's funny. That's nice. Yeah,
- 1:09:34I like that too. Em Hans says Usup's resolution seemed a little weak
- 1:09:39and out of place. Yes, I definitely agree with that. I feel
- 1:09:44like Oosup is the one they know how to handle the least, you know,
- 1:09:47he and he is kind of a he's a little tricky, you know.
- 1:09:51So yeah, I mean, you guys know, it took a little
- 1:09:54while for him to really grow on me, and now I love him.
- 1:09:58But there was so a bit there where I was kind of like, is
- 1:10:00this guy only comic relief? But he's not enough comic relief to really I
- 1:10:06don't know. But anyway, all right, I gotta wrap up. Thank
- 1:10:10you guys again for joining me. Appreciate you all so much. Thank you
- 1:10:13Gabby for commissioning this and hope you all enjoyed the coverage. Until next time
- 1:10:17to the Loo motherfuckers. That was an unspoiled network podcast.
