- 0:00Get laced up. Let's go. It's time for Banter
- 0:04with the boys. Yo, what is going on? Welcome
- 0:18back to Banter with the boys. Oh, you just got
- 0:19horns up. Ready to go. Ready to go. Whatever
- 0:23way you want to go. Horns up. That makes sense.
- 0:27Right on. Did I say that this is Gridiron Updates?
- 0:31Well, you just did. Oh, there it is. That's what
- 0:33you're listening to right now, currently. I am
- 0:36your host, Smelty, which I also always forget
- 0:39to do that. I never introduce myself. Hi, Smelty.
- 0:41To my Larry. Oh, what's up? To my Larry's co
- 0:45-host, Jake. That's right. The Ravens fan. That's
- 0:48right. Flock Nation. Flock. Flock, yeah. And
- 0:52next to me on the other side is Roberto. Our
- 0:56other co -host who's been here now three seasons.
- 0:59This is three. Three. We haven't even mentioned
- 1:03that yet. Either way, it's been a fun ride. There
- 1:06it is. And then Kev behind the cameras, of course,
- 1:09getting everything done for us as always. So,
- 1:13yeah, without further ado, we might as well head
- 1:16right into it, into our game one recap where
- 1:20the Lions traveled to the Buffalo Bills. Buffalo.
- 1:26Buck -Buckalo? They circled the wagons. Yeah,
- 1:28they did. The Bills? They did. Right on. Yeah,
- 1:32getting the dub 41 -31. Up 21 -0 early. And that
- 1:39always feels tough to come back from, you know.
- 1:42Yeah, the score looks closer, but I feel like
- 1:45this game was never close. Agreed. And the Lions
- 1:47got off schedule so early in that game, you know.
- 1:51And Jameer Gibbs at least rushing the ball. Didn't
- 1:54quite have it going on. But, of course, he was
- 1:56active in the pass game like he always is. Sorry,
- 1:58I'm just going with it here. No, not at all.
- 2:00Explain the game. In coach's eyes. Now, would
- 2:03you guys, you know what? And we had a really
- 2:05great practice today, so I feel really good.
- 2:07Oh, that's great. Right, right. But, you know,
- 2:11if you were down 21 -0, Jake, do you immediately
- 2:13get off schedule? I mean, that was, what, mid
- 2:16-second quarter or something? Were they down
- 2:1821 -0? Like, are you hitting the panic button?
- 2:25No, I'm not going to try to hit the panic button
- 2:28right then, especially when you know that you're
- 2:35as explosive of an offense as you are like the
- 2:37Lions that can, in theory, score points in buckets,
- 2:41and all you need is a stop or maybe two stops,
- 2:45and then you're right back in it. So, no, you
- 2:49don't want to get off schedule at that point.
- 2:54If it was 28 -0, is that when you start hucking
- 2:56the ball? Yeah, you're probably at that point.
- 3:00Huck them, chuck them. Right on. Well, they made
- 3:02it 21 -7. They started feeling a little bit of
- 3:05something for them. And then they gave it up
- 3:08right away again in 27 -7, you know, in 27 -10
- 3:11half. I mean, that's tough. Yeah, I mean, I viewed
- 3:13this game. They got behind quick and early. But
- 3:15the Lions, their offense is kind of up and chuck
- 3:18it anyways. It's not like they're not really
- 3:20changing what they do. probably past 10 15 a
- 3:25little bit more i think but there was a point
- 3:27when i was 31 21 i think i text the group i'm
- 3:30like well if they get a stop here it was 30 if
- 3:33you know finishing score was 31 up uh 44 -31
- 3:37was my prediction. But they didn't get that stop.
- 3:41Buffalo went down and scored, and then that was
- 3:43kind of the end of it. I don't think they did
- 3:45much after that. I think I just kind of checked
- 3:47out. Buffalo offense did a really good job of
- 3:52responding with a touchdown every time the Lions
- 3:54scored just to keep that cushion. They got it
- 3:57down to 10, and that was the closest they got.
- 4:00Amon Ra had a great game. He sure did. I think
- 4:03just... the way that the game played out. Helps.
- 4:08As a fantasy, sometimes you want to draft that
- 4:12like New Orleans like this year with Chris Alavi,
- 4:15you're like, oh, they're probably going to be
- 4:17down a bunch and they're going to be chucking
- 4:19the ball everywhere. So that's interesting you
- 4:22bring that up. in our preview show. So don't
- 4:25forget to, uh, watch that for our, what would
- 4:27that be? Week three preview. Um, we actually,
- 4:30we actually talked about the giants and I want
- 4:32to bring up Malik neighbors in the fantasy aspect.
- 4:33Now that some things have changed for them and
- 4:36your thoughts on that. But anyway, not going
- 4:39down that road yet. Um, let's see, who do the,
- 4:42who do the lions got next week? They got the
- 4:46Jets, who just took the Packers to OT this week.
- 4:50They were up on the Packers. Packers had a comeback
- 4:53on that game. Right. How do you feel about the
- 4:55Lions' chances in that game? It's a home game
- 4:57for the Lions, at least. I like that. I like
- 5:02it a lot, actually. I like it. Four of the Lions,
- 5:06you like it? Six and a half, Vegas likes it.
- 5:08They get to be home. They were playing in...
- 5:13I mean, it's a new Highmark Stadium, so first
- 5:15home game, that place was absolutely loud and
- 5:18electric. And they got down 21 real quick. I
- 5:23mean, they played a pretty clean game. No turnovers,
- 5:27right? No turnovers for either team. We've seen
- 5:31that a lot this year already. There's a lot of
- 5:33games that have no turnovers. I actually love
- 5:36that, but not for defense. I mean, other than
- 5:38Caleb Williams. Don't worry, we'll talk plenty
- 5:41about Caleb. Well, that was early. That doesn't
- 5:45count. Before we move on from these boys, because
- 5:48we're not talking about the Bills in the week
- 5:50three preview and picks, the Bills play the Chargers.
- 5:55It looks like another home game for them. Dang,
- 5:57what the heck? Bills have three home games in
- 5:59a row. Home against, obviously, the Lions and
- 6:02then Chargers Patriots. Interesting. Bills are
- 6:06going to be 3 -0. Yeah, Bills are going to be
- 6:083 -0. Chargers, they have a gauntlet for like
- 6:10six games after. We can talk about that later.
- 6:13Herbert came out and said straight up he's not
- 6:15worried about it. Everybody's freaking out. He's
- 6:17like, he didn't pull the relax, but, you know,
- 6:19he's like, ah, he's not worried about it. The
- 6:21problem is their schedule doesn't relax. Yeah,
- 6:23right, right. All right, let's just move on here
- 6:27to the second game. Okay, I'll have to update
- 6:31picks next week because. Your boy didn't do that
- 6:35this week. Dom went undefeated. Due to circumstances.
- 6:38Dom is undefeated. So if you listened to last
- 6:40week, Dom. I went 1 -3. I'll just be. I think
- 6:44I went 2 -2. I think I went 2 -2 or 1 -3. I only
- 6:47got Bills right. Wasn't great. Wasn't great.
- 6:49But freaking Dom is 8 -0. What's the story on
- 6:53Dom's picks? Yeah. He said text it to me. Well,
- 6:56we need a live chat. Remember we talked about
- 6:57doing that? Oh, yeah. We were going to do that
- 6:59so you can talk to me because that worked well.
- 7:02Yeah, should I pull up the old book face? Yeah.
- 7:04Okay. Which we're on. Good thing we're live right
- 7:06now. Yeah, go follow our Facebook, by the way.
- 7:08Wow, we are off base here right now. No, it's
- 7:10good. Where are we at next game? Smelty's just
- 7:13pulling up Facebook here. Okay, Bengals at Texans.
- 7:16There we go. Is our next game that we covered.
- 7:21Bengals getting the win, 20 -6. Did you guys
- 7:26see CJ Stroud's passing attempts? 55? I'm not
- 7:31feeling good for the Texans right now. At least
- 7:39that offense. We were screaming all last year,
- 7:45you need a run game, you need a run game. And
- 7:47they went out and got Montgomery. And he got
- 7:49Woody Marks. Right. And Woody's not bad. And
- 7:52they still couldn't run the ball. And there were
- 7:56times during that game where it felt like it
- 7:58wasn't a Texans home game. Like, you could hear
- 8:01Bengals fans. Like, any time T. Higgins got a
- 8:04catch, it was like, T. And you're just like,
- 8:07no. And the Bengals are playing well right now.
- 8:09And Dexter Lawrence in the middle has changed
- 8:11that defense. Literally. All their defensive
- 8:15signings have been huge, actually. It's a whole
- 8:17different Bengals right now. If they stay healthy
- 8:19in that offense. I watched them 22 on. Well,
- 8:23I watched them. You watched a lot of 22 this
- 8:24week. We'll talk about that later. I watched
- 8:28the Bucks and Bengals week one. So I got to see
- 8:31just how Burrow gets rid of the ball so quick.
- 8:35He's so efficient. But, yeah. Nico Collins, he's.
- 8:40Their offense is completely different. We saw
- 8:42it last year, how they struggled. And their defense
- 8:46had to carry them most of last year. And the
- 8:49Bengals have enough weapons to really counter
- 8:51against that. Because, like I said, Burrow gets
- 8:55rid of the ball so fast, those ends and stuff
- 8:57don't have a chance to put him a lot of pressure.
- 9:00I mean, they still got after Burrow. He even
- 9:04put his rib back into place. Yeah, but I mean,
- 9:07ultimately, it really wasn't enough. I had one
- 9:11other thought about this. The old bangles? Well,
- 9:15I mean, there was the T. Higgins first touch,
- 9:17or not T. Higgins, Jamar Chase's first touchdown
- 9:20catch. Oh, my gosh. Amazing. That was elite,
- 9:24elite. And then anybody that did have the opportunity
- 9:27to watch the televised broadcast. I love listening
- 9:32to Kevin Harlan do play -by -play. I do, too.
- 9:35I mean, like, living in Minnesota, obviously
- 9:37we have a different affinity for it because he
- 9:41used to do play -by -play for the Minnesota Timberwolves.
- 9:43I don't care. Yeah. But, yeah, just, like, something
- 9:47about when Kevin Harlan's doing play -by -play.
- 9:49Okay. But because we don't cover the Sunday night
- 9:53game, right? No. Like freaking Collinsworth.
- 9:56He had this way. There is a play where sauce
- 9:59Gardner tried to one hand this thing. And of
- 10:02course, he's glazing my homes at the same time.
- 10:04But but they're watching the replay slow and
- 10:07you can just see sauce almost grab it. And Collinsworth
- 10:09is just like. Sauce! I'm just like, dude, what?
- 10:14God, he's so cringy, dude. Oh, my gosh. And now
- 10:19he makes jokes about the memes on air all the
- 10:21time. He's like, oh, you can use that one for
- 10:22your memes. He didn't say that after sauce. I
- 10:26mean, quickly, my main problem was he'll glaze
- 10:28one guy, one play, and then two plays later,
- 10:30he'd be like, yeah, he's been struggling most
- 10:33of the year. Just completely opposite of his
- 10:37take. I mean, to be fair. If we watch back. all
- 10:40of our episodes from last year. I wonder how
- 10:42many contradictions we had. At least they're
- 10:44a week apart. They're not a minute apart. That's
- 10:49fair. Anyway, we don't cover the Texans, so they're
- 10:540 -2 right now. 0 -2 at home. Also, by the way,
- 10:57both games. Now they go on the road to play the
- 10:59Colts. Not feeling great about that for them
- 11:02right now, to be honest with you. No, not at
- 11:04all. Nico's probably not playing. I got them
- 11:08in fantasy, so I've been staring at it. And the
- 11:10Colts just went toe -to -toe with the Kansas
- 11:12City Chiefs. Yeah, literally. Yeah, that was
- 11:15a great game. So, okay, I don't want to talk
- 11:18about it. We'll talk about it before this episode
- 11:19ends. Remind me, the Colts game. I want to ask
- 11:21you guys a question. Okay. Bengals travel to
- 11:25the Steelers next week, just real quick. That's
- 11:27winnable for them at this point. The Steelers'
- 11:29offense looks abysmal. Aaron Rodgers looks old
- 11:32currently. Very. All right, third game. Third
- 11:36game. Who was it? Ooh. Ouch. Ouch. Before we
- 11:42get Jake's opinion, Roberto, Saints beating the
- 11:47Ravens 24 -17. That's something I think any of
- 11:51us saw in the pod other than Dom. Other than
- 11:54Dom. You heard me, Dom. He was very confident
- 11:58in the Saints, and they showed why. It was, I
- 12:03mean, I all 22'd this one just because I didn't
- 12:05get to see it live, so I had to watch it. And
- 12:07it was a really interesting game. I mean, kind
- 12:10of a tale of two halves, really. Baltimore started
- 12:14off decent, and then the second half, it was
- 12:17really interesting, the long play drives. That
- 12:21game had two ridiculous ones. The Ravens had
- 12:24one that was like 14 plays for 37 yards in a
- 12:28two to seven minutes, like 43 seconds, like a
- 12:31whole half of a quarter. So that was kind of
- 12:36the difference of the game. In the first half,
- 12:37there was a scenario like that on a drive, too,
- 12:39I think the Ravens had. And New Orleans just
- 12:43hung around, hung around. A lot of A played real
- 12:46nice. And Baltimore, I mean, they got some back
- 12:51-end issues, I would definitely say, after watching
- 12:53that. Linebackers, Smith gets caught a little
- 12:58bit. He's more of that run stopper. I mean, they
- 13:01were working. And who's the other linebacker
- 13:04there at Baltimore that kind of runs their nickel?
- 13:10It might be, well, it should be Buchanan, but
- 13:14he was out this past week. Second half, Henry,
- 13:18there was a third and one. I was like, why are
- 13:22you not giving King here? And then they put it
- 13:25in. That changed the game, really, in there.
- 13:27And New Orleans, congratulations. I mean, they're
- 13:32QB in New Orleans. Tyler, how do you say it?
- 13:35Shook. Shook. Is it shook or is it shuck? I think
- 13:38it's shook. Shook. Well, he shook the flock,
- 13:41and they all left the barn. We'll call him Tyler.
- 13:46There you go. I know, but for the algorithm,
- 13:49we got to get the laugh. Tyler Shook. Tyler Shook.
- 13:53There we go. We got them both. Should be straight.
- 13:56Jake, give us your feelings here. What about
- 13:59your feelings? I want to hear yours. Oh, you
- 14:01want to hear mine? Yeah, you're more important
- 14:03on this game. I got feelings for the next game.
- 14:05Okay. All right. That's fair. For everyone that's
- 14:11been listening over the past year and a half
- 14:14now, you know that. It's Derrick Henry. We want
- 14:17to make sure that Derrick Henry gets touches
- 14:1920 plus 16 carries and three receptions. That's
- 14:25not 20 plus the third and one play Rob that you
- 14:29mentioned. It's like in my mind, I'm like, that's
- 14:31a Derrick Henry. That's a Derrick Henry down.
- 14:34In distance? Did they throw deep, too? Yes, they
- 14:36did. And listening to post -game, they said that
- 14:41they liked the look that they got, and so they
- 14:45went for it. And I'm like, okay, fine, whatever.
- 14:50It's a third and one and it's like Derek. It
- 14:53would be like, hey, Eagles, you have a third
- 14:55and one. Are you going to tush push this or are
- 14:58you going to like, or well, maybe that's a terrible
- 15:00example because they'll tush push it on fourth
- 15:02and one. But anyway, the Eagles would take their
- 15:06shot. Anyway, I digress. But it's a down in distance
- 15:13for Derek Henry. And so I didn't like that. The
- 15:18last play, well, the last play of the game. And
- 15:20you're on your own 37. I just, yeah, sorry. The
- 15:23Lamar Jackson's interception is like only blemish.
- 15:28Was that deep pass? When I watched that. At the
- 15:31end of the game. Yeah, at the end of the game.
- 15:32I'm just like, did Bateman run the wrong route?
- 15:35Or did Lamar read it wrong and throw the ball
- 15:39to the wrong spot? And what I was interpreting
- 15:46from all of the interviews is that Bateman ran
- 15:50the correct route, but Lamar was trying to make
- 15:54something happen. Yeah. I thought he overthrew
- 15:56him after watching it. And I got a little frustrated
- 16:04with that. I'm like, come on, Lamar. You have
- 16:06to be better than that. The amount of yards that
- 16:11the secondary Ravens secondary gave up worries
- 16:13me, especially with how the Bengals are looking
- 16:17offensively. So thinking future like Jamar Chase
- 16:21and T Higgins already have historically given
- 16:24the Ravens fits. Start them in fantasy this week.
- 16:27So so I've got the I've got those worries. And
- 16:31again, Ravens blew another fourth quarter lead.
- 16:34uh, at home. So that story continues that we
- 16:39have. I heard some people online talking about
- 16:43the same old hardball. Those things, those things
- 16:47haven't, those things haven't gone away. Uh,
- 16:50and I know a lot of people have had conversations
- 16:52about the, uh, that fourth and goal play where,
- 16:55uh, towards the end of the game where Chuck gets
- 16:57in to put them up 24, 17, whether or not he did
- 17:01or didn't get in. To me, replay shows, I don't
- 17:05think that he got in. But also, Roquan Smith
- 17:09had an egregious face mask on that we got away
- 17:12with. That's true. Look at the integrity of a
- 17:15fan. I love it. For the rest of you on the internet,
- 17:18follow Jake. Literally. But it's just like, okay,
- 17:22cool, we got away with one. And we had time still
- 17:24left on the clock, and we were driving. So it
- 17:27wasn't like, oh, my gosh. lost with like two
- 17:30seconds left on this one play. We had plenty
- 17:32of time to drive and score, and I still felt
- 17:34good about it. But penalties, poor special teams
- 17:41play at the end of the first half. We just scored,
- 17:45and then we gave up the long kickoff return that
- 17:48put them in field goal range, and they got three
- 17:51before the end of the half. So three phases of
- 17:54football, need more Derrick Henry, play smarter,
- 17:57less penalties. It's just I'm expecting a turnaround
- 18:02next week. Okay. All right. Against the Bengals.
- 18:05Don't worry. We'll talk about them. We'll talk
- 18:07about them in the preview and picks episode.
- 18:08Do not forget to watch that or listen to it wherever
- 18:11you listen to the banter. But what was I about
- 18:15to say about this? Oh, what impressed me, at
- 18:18least for the Saints, was that final drive of
- 18:20being able to take the clock from 8 .14 down
- 18:23to a minute 20. I mean, a minute 20 should still
- 18:27be enough time for Lamar Jackson and company.
- 18:29Don't get me wrong. But that was still impressive
- 18:31to see from a young quarterback be able to manage
- 18:34that situation. He doesn't look young. He looks
- 18:39confident. He's going through all the multiple
- 18:42reads. I want to get a Saints fan on here. If
- 18:45you're a fan of the Saints, the Titans, the Giants,
- 18:48or something, or the Commanders. Sorry, I didn't
- 18:51mean to laugh. Local here to Banter with the
- 18:53Boys. Hit us up and message us on Bookface so
- 18:56we can get you on the show. I'd like to hear
- 18:58from some of you guys, actually. Sorry, a little
- 19:01tangent. Yeah. Who's the Saints got next week?
- 19:06Because we'll talk about the old Ravens. The
- 19:08Saints go home. Again, tough place to play. First
- 19:13home game of the season for the Saints. That
- 19:15place is going to be rocking after beating the
- 19:17Ravens, too, and they got the Raiders at home.
- 19:19The streaking Raiders right now with a hot Kirk
- 19:21Cousins. That's actually a great game. Yeah,
- 19:23that's a sneaky great game. 325 CBS. Don't miss
- 19:27it. All right. Final game to recap should be
- 19:32Skull. No. All right. We're good. All right.
- 19:35We're good. Because it was only 9 -3. 9 -3 in
- 19:38the torrential downpour the entire game, though.
- 19:42Vikes get the dub and move to 2 -0. Nobody saw
- 19:45it coming. Somebody said the weather was going
- 19:47to be impactful. I mean, I had the weather report
- 19:48like a week out. That's right. I said, rain's
- 19:52coming down. Carson Wentz does just enough to
- 19:57get the Vikings by the Bears. Kyler Murray to
- 19:59start week three. We'll talk about that in the
- 20:01preview show as well. Was it Carson Wentz doing
- 20:04enough or was it Aaron Jones? Aaron Jones carried
- 20:06him on his back. Yeah, Aaron Jones carried literally
- 20:09and figuratively. Hey, he had over 20 carries.
- 20:12Yeah. Interesting. He clips to over 100 yards.
- 20:16Buckle five. Yeah. That's right. Obviously, the
- 20:20big thing. Coming from this game, though, is,
- 20:24well, okay. So, actually, let's talk about that
- 20:26was supposed to be tackle out of bounds. The
- 20:30lead hit out of bounds. Yeah, I mean, that's
- 20:32pretty bad. We agreed before the show, unless
- 20:34you were going to say something differently.
- 20:35I mean, no, we all agreed. How did they miss
- 20:39that? But, yeah. Yeah, so that one was bad. How
- 20:41do you feel about the final play of the game?
- 20:44Did you feel Dallas Turner's? Sack was a little
- 20:48too high, a little too close to the head, and
- 20:49now old Tyson is, how do you say his last name?
- 20:52Bajent. Bajent. Tyson Bajent. There you go, AI.
- 20:56For the reals. He is concussed. He's concussed.
- 21:01He's in concussion protocol. Actually, I think
- 21:03he got concussed on the play before. Okay, okay.
- 21:08He was rolling outside, and he threw it somewhere
- 21:10in the corner towards the pylon, and it was Van
- 21:13Ginkle that got him. I saw a couple of Bear fans
- 21:16pointing out that play. You know, like everyone
- 21:18on the Internet. You know my view. If you're
- 21:23wearing a football jersey, it's a football game.
- 21:25I don't like any of those penalties. Just thank
- 21:29God Case Keenum didn't have to come in for the
- 21:31final play and do some... do us bad unless it's
- 21:34like I mean like oh my god I mean if they're
- 21:36just coming in full spear like obviously that's
- 21:39a penalty like you could tell I think there's
- 21:41a difference between trying to hurt somebody
- 21:43versus yeah just trying to get them to the ground
- 21:45you know like it's a big play the Dallas Turner
- 21:47was in back there all you know like I don't see
- 21:50that as a aggressive like I'm trying to hurt
- 21:52you play you know it's like hey I'm trying to
- 21:54get you to the ground and win the game you know
- 21:57but taking shots up high yeah that's you know
- 22:02that's where i think it can be or you know down
- 22:05low on purpose you know like oh i'm just gonna
- 22:07take out his knees you know some of those, you
- 22:10know, I think those are, you know, intent, you
- 22:12know, and I feel like we talked about that with
- 22:14penalties last week that I think the intent,
- 22:17I think that is part of the, what if a flag gets
- 22:19thrown? Yeah. The one thing I will say about
- 22:22the bears, at least offensively as a team, they
- 22:24still are up over a hundred yards. Yeah. Caleb
- 22:26was contributing, you know, 40 of those yards,
- 22:29but even just the two running backs for nearly
- 22:31a hundred yards. So I still feel that's a positive.
- 22:34If you can take a positive away from it, they're
- 22:37still able to run the ball. against the brian
- 22:39flores defense not in the first half no but they
- 22:42were but they were chipping away and we saw one
- 22:45drive in the third quarter that kind of changed
- 22:47the numbers but i mean overall if i'm the running
- 22:50backs coach i'm not like yeah we we got them
- 22:53no well no but if you could take anything away
- 22:56we didn't kill we i don't play for the leggings
- 22:59i hate that i know um but The Vikings didn't
- 23:03kill the Bears, you know what I mean? No, for
- 23:04sure we didn't. But they almost gave it away.
- 23:07Yeah, because, I mean, DeAndre Swift had that
- 23:10great punch out, that fumble at the goal line.
- 23:14Great man by Redman. Yeah. Pro bowler. We're
- 23:17calling it. Perfect punch. Perfect punch. I mean,
- 23:20that was really good. But it was also. With the
- 23:24game as close as it was, up until Caleb Williams
- 23:27got hurt, to me it felt like the Bears weren't
- 23:29out of it. It was just like, it's going to be
- 23:31like, all Caleb needs is one big play, and then...
- 23:35And he was about to make it, possibly. I was
- 23:38nervous. I'm not going to lie. I was getting
- 23:39nervous. As soon as he went down, I actually...
- 23:42I actually, like, felt bad for him immediately.
- 23:44I was like, no, man. And just for Bears fans,
- 23:48I don't know. I want Caleb Williams in the game.
- 23:50It's a fair shake, man. I know people are like,
- 23:52man, he was crying leaving the field and crap
- 23:55and blah, blah, blah. But if you look, Caleb
- 23:57Williams has played a lot of football and rarely
- 23:59misses for, like, a big injury. So I'm just trying
- 24:02to think of, like, the mentality maybe that he
- 24:04was in. You know, maybe he did think the season
- 24:07was over for him, you know, if he's never. strained
- 24:09a hammy to that level but then walking out of
- 24:11the stadium is a bad look after getting carted
- 24:13off i understand but i've obviously i've not
- 24:17played football like in school or anything any
- 24:22way shape or form like that so i don't i can't
- 24:24speak to like what he's feeling or how he was
- 24:28feeling in the moment and i'm sure it was warranted
- 24:31but i also can't help but think it's just like
- 24:34it We saw it. We see so many soft tissue injuries
- 24:39now where somebody comes up lame real quick and
- 24:42you're just, like, fearing the worst. Yeah, yeah.
- 24:43And, yeah, I'm thankful for the Bears. That it's
- 24:48only a hammy. That it's only a hammy. I do, too,
- 24:50for the league. It's just more exciting. But
- 24:52it's just, but also, to some extent, I'm, like,
- 24:55you overreacting here a little bit because you
- 24:58should know the difference. maybe you should
- 25:01know the difference between pulling your hamstring
- 25:03versus your Achilles going pop. Yeah. Right.
- 25:05You would think, but if you've never done it.
- 25:07But again, you would think that if your Achilles
- 25:09pops, oh, you know. You know. Yeah. And that's
- 25:12what I think we all feared was that it was possibly
- 25:15an Achilles or something. Then when it came out,
- 25:17it was a hamstring. They didn't say what. So
- 25:19it was like, so did he tear it or something insane?
- 25:21Yeah. So he's still going to miss some time,
- 25:23but. Obviously, they need that guy back. He kind
- 25:26of is the Chicago Bears, to be honest. That's
- 25:30definitely. But after just watching the film,
- 25:32he does a lot of the things against the Vikings
- 25:38this week. He just doesn't take wins. It's got
- 25:42to be 10, 15, 20 yards. He just constantly wants
- 25:45that. And there's so many times that the little
- 25:48checkdowns and stuff. The big play. He's always
- 25:50looking for the big play. Overall, I'm very impressed
- 25:53with Brian Flores on just his scheming, just
- 25:56watching it. There were so many times where he
- 25:59would set it up where it was a one -on -one.
- 26:03versus one of our Deans, like the last play of
- 26:06Dallas Turner. He was up against Loveland on
- 26:09that play. He was really good at isolating scenarios
- 26:12where it was our Dean versus running back or
- 26:15tight end. And we got a ton of pressure even
- 26:17when we went four. Because what was our blip
- 26:19percentage? It was drastically down from last
- 26:21week. It was not 80%. Yeah, it was like 30. I
- 26:23think it was close to 50. It was 50, but like
- 26:26just watching it on tape, it didn't seem like,
- 26:28oh, they're coming, they're coming, they're coming.
- 26:30Yeah, he gave them a lot of... looks but like
- 26:33constantly dropped it yeah it was a ton of drop
- 26:35in so i and And that Williams has got to take
- 26:38some three yarders, you know, and then let his
- 26:40guy make a play like that was what I dress. I'm
- 26:43like, oh, he would like trust your teammate a
- 26:46little bit. That's where you get Loveland on
- 26:48a little chip. And then he flares and take that
- 26:51four or five yarder and lived, lived in the play
- 26:53another day. They got, they had a ton of penalties.
- 26:56So that's a really self -inflicted Caleb on the
- 27:00interception. I mean, he was trying to make a
- 27:02play because they weren't doing anything in that
- 27:05first half. Vikings just survived. Jones played
- 27:09nice. Wentz missed a couple throws, too. It was
- 27:16a good scrappy W. We'll take it without our starter
- 27:19in right now. Especially because it's the road
- 27:22one against the Bears, too. We're happy with
- 27:26that. Stacking Ws in the beginning of the season.
- 27:29Bears, that's the beginning of a Bears three
- 27:31-game homestand. They play the Eagles next week.
- 27:36How are you feeling? Case Keenum led Bears against
- 27:38the Eagles. Case Keenum revenge game. That's
- 27:41what I mean. Who knows? You know what I mean?
- 27:43I don't know. I think I don't feel good for the
- 27:48Bears. No. That Eagles defense is playing really
- 27:52well. Saquon. And, well, I don't think they necessarily
- 27:58need him. I agree with you. They've got tanks
- 28:03still. Yeah, and Jalen Hurts is slinging the
- 28:06ball around really great still, too. He's playing
- 28:10really well right now, actually. Their offense
- 28:13isn't very flashy right now, and I talked about
- 28:17that kind of in the preseason conversation where
- 28:20it's like Eagles fans want to see a flashy Eagles
- 28:22offense, and it's not flashy right now. They
- 28:25played down to the Titans. Right on. turnover
- 28:31right away and then they scored off it and just
- 28:33kind of changed the whole vibe kept them in the
- 28:35game right away you know uh all right so before
- 28:39we're going to talk about the vikes way more
- 28:41we always do every week turns out um but before
- 28:43we close this episode out i had a bunch of crap
- 28:46i wanted to mention i'm going to mention none
- 28:47of it colts um yeah that's the one i wanted to
- 28:50bring up so laquan treadwell's catch so i'm kind
- 28:55of glad that they kept that As a catch and down?
- 28:58Yes. Because the same thing. No, not long, maybe.
- 29:03But the script. No, but because the week prior
- 29:08we saw an Aaron Jones run for like 35 or 40 yards.
- 29:12But he stumbled through the line. And as he's
- 29:15stumbling on his own, he got touched in the shoulder
- 29:18by a finger. It was a finger. And because his
- 29:22knee hit the ground right there, that finger,
- 29:24he's down by contact. So I was at least glad
- 29:28that they counted that as a catch, and I wanted
- 29:31the Chiefs to lose. But I was at least glad that
- 29:32they counted that as a catch. Keep it the same.
- 29:37The one semblance of consistency in the officiating
- 29:40so far over the two weeks. Take the W's where
- 29:45you can. As a defensive mind, does suck because
- 29:49there's another perfect peanut punch right after
- 29:51that. Perfect. And if you're Treadwell, just
- 29:54stay down, man. But instead of getting back up
- 29:57trying to fight for one extra yard, it's not
- 29:59worth it. Okay, okay, I got to mention one other
- 30:02thing. Okay, Eagles win in Nashville for the
- 30:04first time in 35 years, and the turf was 157
- 30:07degrees. So players are again bringing up, oh,
- 30:10just another example as to why they need to be
- 30:12on grass rather than turf. It's like this turf
- 30:15controversy will never go away, but cleats were
- 30:18melting. They were literally using the players'
- 30:21drinking water to, like, wet down the cleats.
- 30:24And they were steaming. It was just insane. It
- 30:26was just insane. Yeah. Anyway, I could keep going,
- 30:30but I'm not. So we should probably end the show.
- 30:32Kev had a little tidbit here that I wanted to
- 30:35mention. So we mentioned Dom went four and four
- 30:38in week one. So Kev, being the smart guy that
- 30:42he is, decided to copy Dom's week two picks and
- 30:46bet 15 bucks on prize picks teams and ended up
- 30:51winning 476. Yes, sir. He sent Dom some cash
- 30:59as well. Right on. Give him a finder's fee. Yeah,
- 31:02right. Finder's fee, 100%. So there you go, Dom.
- 31:05You keep picking, I guess. You and Kev got a
- 31:07thing going on. But maybe, Dom, you got to get
- 31:11your percentage up with the winnings. Anyway,
- 31:13but no, that was hilarious. So don't worry. We'll
- 31:15mention that in the preview and picks episode
- 31:17in case nobody listens to this one. Especially
- 31:20towards the end. Yeah. Right, right, right, right.
- 31:24When the Vikings come on, click. Yeah. Which
- 31:26I understand. I get it. But all right. Well,
- 31:29thanks for being here, Roberto. Yeah, buddy.
- 31:31It's time for more football. Football. Football.
- 31:34Football. All right. Week three. Jake, flock
- 31:36yeah? Flock yeah. Hopefully this week. Yeah.
- 31:39Next week. Feeling good. No, this week. This
- 31:41current episode. Yeah. Week three. No flock.
- 31:44But yeah, week three. What do you mean no? Good
- 31:45flock. Bad flock. Week two, bad flock. Yeah,
- 31:48bad flock. Week three, good flock. Good flock.
- 31:49Yeah. Yeah. A lot of flocking. Kev, Europe. Yeah.
