- 0:00Welcome to The Hypnotist, the show that gives you inside
- 0:03access to cutting edge hypnosis with real clients facing genuine
- 0:07issues. Brought to you by the
- 0:10hypnotherapist, demanded by celebrities, CEOs and even
- 0:14royalty. Adam Cox.
- 0:16These recordings took place live from Adam's clinic in London's
- 0:19world famous Harley Street. This podcast features powerful
- 0:23hypnosis, so do not listen while driving or operating machinery.
- 0:27This recording is not suitable for those with epilepsy or
- 0:30severe mental health issues, so get yourself comfortable and
- 0:34enjoy today's episode of The Hypnotist.
- 0:40Hi, it's. Adam here.
- 0:41And in today's episode of The Hypnotist, you're going to be
- 0:44listening to a hypnosis session created for a.
- 0:47Client that. Would feel anxious in certain
- 0:50elements of presentations. Intense meetings where it felt
- 0:56like all eyes were on them and they couldn't defer it to anyone
- 1:00else. And what we did before this
- 1:03hypnosis session is created a few forms of anchors.
- 1:08So in NLP we would use the term anchors.
- 1:12In popular, you know, kind of culture, we would say triggers.
- 1:18So you can say you're triggered and in behavioral psychology
- 1:21would say it's conditioning. You know, it's a conditioned
- 1:24response. It means the same thing.
- 1:26It means that you're getting into a state that is undesirable
- 1:32and something triggers that, but it can also trigger a
- 1:36resourceful state. So you quite often see a lot of
- 1:40elite athletes doing certain things to get them in a
- 1:43particular state, and that might be the way a tennis player
- 1:46bounces a ball or the way a sprinter prepares himself on the
- 1:51starting line. They're getting into a state
- 1:54which is resourceful for them. And this client had a couple of
- 1:58key states that they felt would be useful. 1 is this feeling of
- 2:06dominance and almost self belief, a bring it on type of
- 2:10state. And the other is more of a
- 2:12playful curiosity kind of state. So you're going to hear some of
- 2:15those references in this session.
- 2:18And it was designed so that if they had something coming up in
- 2:23their diary, and that might be a key meeting or something that
- 2:29they would see coming up, normally that would start the
- 2:31anticipatory fear response. But this is designed to have the
- 2:35same trigger, create a more resourceful, excited state of
- 2:41feeling that they can easily handle what's coming up.
- 2:44So I think you'll benefit from this if you feel anxious at
- 2:48presenting, but obviously some of the references won't make
- 2:52sense for you because it was created for an individual.
- 2:55In which case, hone in on what's relevant, ignore what isn't.
- 2:59And if you do like the idea of some kind of a bespoke session,
- 3:03then you can schedule a free consultation call on Zoom with
- 3:06me by clicking the link in the show notes or going to my
- 3:09website whichisadamcox.co.uk. For now though, find a quiet,
- 3:14comfortable place where you won't be disturbed.
- 3:17Relax and enjoy the session. Take a deep breath in, and as
- 3:48you breathe in, just imagine breathing in a feeling of calm,
- 3:55resourceful relaxation. And as you exhale, just allow
- 4:03your body to relax, to feel like tension is leaving your body in
- 4:11that outward breath, breathing in that resourceful relaxation
- 4:22and exhaling any tension, any anxiety, allowing your mind to
- 4:33slow and your awareness to drift inwards.
- 4:42I want you to get a sense that there is nothing to think of, no
- 4:48place to be, nothing to do right now other than experience this
- 4:55moment. Because this.
- 4:59Is a moment just for you, a moment where you can begin to
- 5:06explore a journey that has LED you right here.
- 5:18I want you to imagine what it would be like to explore a dusty
- 5:24old library with rows and rows of books.
- 5:31And I want you to stumble across the book of your life up to this
- 5:38point in time. I want you to see there's lots
- 5:43of text, but lots of pictures, illustrations.
- 5:50I want you to imagine flicking through the pages and seeing
- 5:55some of the key memories from your past.
- 6:04Sometimes we don't think of our life as a journey, but I need to
- 6:10get a sense that you're in a different place now than you
- 6:15were before and therefore you've travelled through space and time
- 6:22from when you were born to this moment here.
- 6:28And maybe your journey has had wonderful experiences,
- 6:33adventures, moments of joy, and moments of frustration.
- 6:43I want you to get a sense that somewhere in this book is an
- 6:47illustration of something that happened in your past, something
- 6:56that was a catalyst for you to question your capabilities.
- 7:03A moment where you couldn't be sure if you could handle certain
- 7:09situations, but just look at that illustration like you were
- 7:17drawing on a page. Maybe you can tell the room, the
- 7:24people in the room where you were, what was happening, and
- 7:31just get a sense that what if something happened in that
- 7:36moment that felt like a burden, but was actually the start of a
- 7:43story within a story? Something that felt like a
- 7:49challenge, perhaps even a burden, but maybe at some level
- 7:55was even necessary for the next evolution of you in your life.
- 8:05An invitation to become stronger, wiser, and more
- 8:11powerful than ever before. Look at that in illustration and
- 8:20notice what you notice. Perhaps a presentation, a
- 8:27particular stage, a particular audience and something happened.
- 8:37Couldn't quite explain it at the time, but maybe it was framed as
- 8:44the start of something that would haunt you, rather than a
- 8:50blip, an anomaly. Imagine from that third person
- 9:00perspective, seeing you like you were drawing on a page.
- 9:05Your reaction. It was unexpected, and just get
- 9:09a sense that a certain reliance and foundation beneath you felt
- 9:19less stable, and before you knew it, maybe it felt as though
- 9:27something had taken over. But what if that moment marked
- 9:40the beginning of an adventure? A challenge?
- 9:46But not just any challenge. What if it was the beginning of
- 9:52a hero's journey? Because all heroes must face a
- 9:58nemesis. A nemesis that seems strong at
- 10:03first, that looms large, that whispers doubts, thinks of the
- 10:11worst and stirs up fear, makes you feel incapable and
- 10:19vulnerable. But a true hero never stays
- 10:25small. And what if this nemesis, this
- 10:30old fear, doesn't realise that it's actually been training you?
- 10:39Every experience, every challenge in some way has given
- 10:43you more information and more preparation for what will soon
- 10:49be your ultimate victory. I want you to get a thing, a
- 11:03sense that things are different now.
- 11:07The coping strategies of the past sometimes relied on other
- 11:13people or managing expectations. But what if the tools now all
- 11:25are dependent only on you? You're in a dialogue, the
- 11:34evaluations you make, the emotions you harness, and your
- 11:42ability to stop a chain reaction when it's early to dissolve
- 11:52anxiety before it can take hold. Imagine these new things were
- 12:04always necessary for you, but now you have them.
- 12:12What if now you feel ready to face your nemesis?
- 12:19So I want you to think. Think of yourself in the near
- 12:23future. Maybe a presentation or a high
- 12:28stakes meeting. Something that once would have
- 12:33stirred up old fears. And yet, as you see yourself
- 12:40standing there, I want you to observe the situation is
- 12:47similar, but there is now a different version of you.
- 12:54Maybe you get a sense that your hands are in a different
- 12:57position, your posture is different, there's something
- 13:03about how you're sitting or standing that says come on then
- 13:09bring it on. Maybe you see yourself touching
- 13:15a watch in a certain way, or maybe think you might be
- 13:20wiggling your toes when nobody can notice it's just happening
- 13:25inside your socks and shoes. See then the beginning stages of
- 13:35an old fear start stirring. You can see that clue, the
- 13:42beginning stages, but no need to defer, divert, or even escape.
- 13:53See a version of you relishing that moment.
- 13:59See yourself excited. You've been wanting to face this
- 14:03nemesis for a while and you realise this is that moment.
- 14:12I want you to step into that version of you.
- 14:16Maybe it's a presentation where you can see an audience, or
- 14:20maybe it's a call where you can see people on the screen but
- 14:25feel you're in a dialogue, calm and confident and optimistic.
- 14:31There's a genuine sense of relishing this.
- 14:35You feel up for the challenge. What used to be called anxiety
- 14:43now fuels even more excitement. A spark of challenge ignites
- 14:49within. You hear your own voice in your
- 14:54mind's ear in a particular tonality, saying come on then.
- 15:03Not as a plea and certainly not as a hope, but almost like a
- 15:07battle cry, a signal to your body that you thrive in the face
- 15:14of challenge. Because in this moment, you are
- 15:21not the person you were before. You have grown.
- 15:27You have changed. You have become, more so than
- 15:32ever before, the master of your own mind.
- 15:46And just like that, everything shifts.
- 15:52That sensation, that old flicker of anxiety, You think of it as
- 15:58just a storm in a very, very small teacup.
- 16:02It swirls for a moment, and then it settles, because it was never
- 16:08as big as it seemed. That twisting sensation there in
- 16:15the solar plexus. Turn it into a tornado or a
- 16:19hurricane, into a tiny teacup, and notice all of its power
- 16:24disappears, and you feel yourself growing stronger.
- 16:32You're in. The dialogue starts to change.
- 16:37No mention of hope or panic attacks.
- 16:41That's not how a hero thinks. What if you were to think this
- 16:49is going to go well or even better?
- 16:54I make this go well. I live for this.
- 17:01And with that shift, a deep certainty settles within you, a
- 17:08calm confidence. Because you know that no matter
- 17:14what happens, you handle it. You are in control.
- 17:26You don't fear the unexpected. You welcome.
- 17:29It keeps you on your toes and the idea of a panic attack.
- 17:36You realize that panic attack was never the right word.
- 17:40What if that's not even a thing anymore?
- 17:43You just can't relate to it. Maybe it's something humorous,
- 17:47like a an oopsie daisies of the mind or a startled festival, a
- 17:53tiny moment of energy that fizzles out before it even
- 17:58begins. Or maybe you think of a small
- 18:02flame, no bigger than a candles or a sparkler from your
- 18:06childhood, one that can easily extinguish.
- 18:12And even if you don't extinguish it, it will fizzle out in no
- 18:16time. No thoughts of it becoming a
- 18:20raging fire. It can't and won't because you
- 18:26have the tools. To stop.
- 18:29A flame from becoming a fire to stop the dominoes from falling
- 18:34to the next domino. And that enemy that haunted you
- 18:40for years? What if it was like the monster
- 18:46under the bed that is so terrifying for a child that all
- 18:51it has to do is to confidently look and realise it was never
- 18:56real? I want you to get a sense that
- 19:02by walking towards this enemy, what if the enemy starts to run?
- 19:11You can think of anxiety or fear like shadows, and action and
- 19:17certainty like light. The two cannot coexist.
- 19:23So feel that certainty, feel that action and realise when you
- 19:28do so, anxiety becomes all the more elusive.
- 19:38I want you to get a sense that that enemy that haunted you has
- 19:41lost all of its power because you have faced it.
- 19:46You have stood your ground and feel that you have won.
- 19:56And now, as you take another deep breath in.
- 20:01Feel like something has shifted within you, new belief systems,
- 20:08new identities, the sense that not just that you've got this,
- 20:13but we've got this. That all of these different
- 20:16parts of your personality are now working together as an
- 20:21internal team to enable you to be the most resourceful version
- 20:26of you that you and others have ever seen.
- 20:35There's a new energy to you, a new mindset.
- 20:40Because the next time you stand in front of an audience, or sit
- 20:45in front of a camera, or start to speak in an important
- 20:50meeting, or get challenged in any way, you will feel excited.
- 20:58You will feel powerful. And you will know that that old
- 21:02fear, the old anxiety, was nothing more than a lesson.
- 21:10And now that you've learned that lesson, you no longer need it.
- 21:16Because this is your story. And in your story, you overcome
- 21:24adversity to take a deep breath in and feel you have vanquished
- 21:33your enemy. You are victorious.
- 21:37And all that is remaining is to take something that's already
- 21:41happened in your mind and turn it into reality.
- 21:45But whether you receive an e-mail of a date of a meeting,
- 21:50an agenda, or even just a few minutes before that meeting or
- 21:57presentation starts, a new row of dominoes is now activated,
- 22:04one that gets you into a highly resourceful, powerful state of
- 22:09certainty and confidence. It's time to return to the here
- 22:15and now. Was you put down that book
- 22:19realizing that more than half of this book is unwritten and you
- 22:25are the author of your story? Feel that you've recently
- 22:31started a new chapter anyway, and wouldn't it be good if the
- 22:35old you was left behind and this new you was in control?
- 22:40From this chapter onwards, as you leave that dusty library,
- 22:49feel you're taking all of these resources, tools and strategies
- 22:54with you. So take a deep breath in through
- 22:58your nose and out through your nose.
- 23:03Just wiggle your fingers and wiggle your toes.
- 23:05Connect fully into the here and the now as I now count from 1:00
- 23:09to 10:00 to awaken you. You will awaken fully in the
