- 0:03SPEAKER_00: Hello, everyone.
- 0:04SPEAKER_00: Welcome back to the Astrology for Beginners podcast.
- 0:08SPEAKER_00: I'm your host, Stephanie Kate Boucher, and I am so happy to have you here.
- 0:12SPEAKER_00: This is the podcast for you if you have ever wanted to learn how to read a natal
- 0:17SPEAKER_00: chart or were kind of interested in astrology and wished that you understood more
- 0:22SPEAKER_00: about it,
- 0:22SPEAKER_00: but didn't know where to begin or it seemed too complicated and you didn't have the
- 0:27SPEAKER_00: time or the resources to invest in learning it.
- 0:30SPEAKER_00: My goal is to break things down for you episode by episode in the most simplified
- 0:35SPEAKER_00: way that I can so that you can learn to speak the language of the stars.
- 0:40SPEAKER_00: Thank you for learning astrology with me.
- 0:43SPEAKER_00: Welcome, my friends.
- 0:44SPEAKER_00: I am here with you today to talk about what I think is a really useful and profound
- 0:52SPEAKER_00: part of your natal chart that is crucial to understanding yourself better.
- 0:57SPEAKER_00: and why you feel the way you do or behave the way you do or show up in
- 1:03SPEAKER_00: relationships the way you do or why you might find yourself repeating certain
- 1:08SPEAKER_00: patterns and things like that.
- 1:10SPEAKER_00: And that thing that we're going to talk about today is Chiron.
- 1:16SPEAKER_00: If you're still relatively new to astrology, you might not even have heard about Chiron before.
- 1:24SPEAKER_00: Or maybe you have heard about it a little.
- 1:26SPEAKER_00: It is becoming an increasingly hot topic in modern astrology.
- 1:31SPEAKER_00: I think in part because we are,
- 1:34SPEAKER_00: as a culture,
- 1:35SPEAKER_00: so much more interested and invested in psychology now than we used to be.
- 1:41SPEAKER_00: And we want to dig down deep and figure ourselves out and do all the healing work
- 1:47SPEAKER_00: and those types of things.
- 1:48SPEAKER_00: And Chiron and its energy plays right into that.
- 1:54SPEAKER_00: Chiron is also currently in the sign of Aries, where it will be for several years.
- 1:59SPEAKER_00: And so because we're in Aries season right now,
- 2:03SPEAKER_00: and because the North Node is in Aries,
- 2:06SPEAKER_00: and we've been having eclipses in Aries,
- 2:09SPEAKER_00: it's been making conjunctions right and left with a bunch of other planets and
- 2:14SPEAKER_00: celestial bodies or points in the sky.
- 2:17SPEAKER_00: So it has been a huge player for all of us in terms of transits.
- 2:22SPEAKER_00: We have all been impacted by Chiron a lot of late,
- 2:26SPEAKER_00: and it's encouraging everyone to do healing work on themselves and ultimately others.
- 2:33SPEAKER_00: This has been a fantastic time for healing work,
- 2:36SPEAKER_00: and you're probably noticing this in yourself and all around you.
- 2:41SPEAKER_00: So what is Chiron, you might be asking?
- 2:45SPEAKER_00: Well,
- 2:46SPEAKER_00: first off,
- 2:47SPEAKER_00: let's find Chiron in your chart so that you have some context as we go through our discussion.
- 2:53SPEAKER_00: And here's how you find it if you don't already know your Chiron placement.
- 2:58SPEAKER_00: Go to your chart and look for the glyph or the symbol that appears as a little circle,
- 3:04SPEAKER_00: or sometimes it's an oval.
- 3:05SPEAKER_00: I think I've seen it as an oval before too, with what looks like the letter K sitting right on top of it.
- 3:13SPEAKER_00: If you were to turn that symbol on its side,
- 3:16SPEAKER_00: it would look like a key,
- 3:17SPEAKER_00: like one of those old-fashioned keys.
- 3:21SPEAKER_00: That is Chiron.
- 3:22SPEAKER_00: So look for that symbol, see what sign it's in, and see what house it's in in your chart.
- 3:28SPEAKER_00: And just make a mental note of both of those things, especially the house, if you can,
- 3:33SPEAKER_00: The sign, much like I talked about in the last episode with the outer planets, is generational.
- 3:41SPEAKER_00: So everyone born within a particular eight-year time span is going to have the same Chiron sign.
- 3:49SPEAKER_00: It's a trait you share with other people around your own age.
- 3:53SPEAKER_00: And it's a kind of a reflection of what was going on or what was difficult about
- 4:00SPEAKER_00: growing up in your culture at the time that you did.
- 4:04SPEAKER_00: And that is still relevant.
- 4:06SPEAKER_00: You definitely want to know the sign.
- 4:08SPEAKER_00: But the house placement is more unique to you as an individual.
- 4:14SPEAKER_00: Okay, so hopefully you found that.
- 4:17SPEAKER_00: Or if you're not in a place right now where you can look because you're driving or
- 4:20SPEAKER_00: something like that,
- 4:21SPEAKER_00: you will later.
- 4:23SPEAKER_00: Okay, from the more technical side, Chiron is both a comet and a planetoid or dwarf planet.
- 4:32SPEAKER_00: that was discovered in 1977.
- 4:35SPEAKER_00: So it was not part of any sort of astrological discourse or discussion until the late 70s.
- 4:43SPEAKER_00: But it has become a big player in modern astrology, as I just mentioned.
- 4:48SPEAKER_00: And, you know, it's not a coincidence that healing work
- 4:53SPEAKER_00: like emotional and psychological healing work,
- 4:56SPEAKER_00: and even physical healing work,
- 4:58SPEAKER_00: really,
- 4:59SPEAKER_00: has become an increasingly big part of our mainstream culture since its discovery.
- 5:07SPEAKER_00: And that's because Chiron, energetically, is all about our wounds and how we heal them.
- 5:14SPEAKER_00: Chiron is called the wounded healer.
- 5:17SPEAKER_00: In fact, that's what it's known as in Greek mythology.
- 5:21SPEAKER_00: And we'll get to the basics of that story in a bit,
- 5:23SPEAKER_00: because I think it's key to understanding Chiron's energy.
- 5:28SPEAKER_00: In your chart,
- 5:29SPEAKER_00: though,
- 5:29SPEAKER_00: your Chiron placement shows you what your deepest wound is and where in your life
- 5:37SPEAKER_00: it shows up.
- 5:38SPEAKER_00: We all have a wound like this, every single one of us.
- 5:43SPEAKER_00: This is that vulnerability, that weak spot, or maybe that soft spot, rather, where you
- 5:50SPEAKER_00: Because of an early life experience, we feel unlovable.
- 5:55SPEAKER_00: We feel afraid.
- 5:56SPEAKER_00: We feel ashamed.
- 5:58SPEAKER_00: We feel insecure.
- 6:00SPEAKER_00: Essentially, it's where we are struggling with our self-esteem and our sense of worthiness the most.
- 6:08SPEAKER_00: This wound that each of us has shapes the way we interact with the world,
- 6:14SPEAKER_00: often getting in our way and preventing us from achieving the connections we seek
- 6:20SPEAKER_00: or the thing we really want.
- 6:22SPEAKER_00: Because that's what fear does, right?
- 6:26SPEAKER_00: Fear prevents us from getting what we need and want.
- 6:30SPEAKER_00: And in fact,
- 6:31SPEAKER_00: what's likely to happen if we're unable or unwilling to do our healing work is that
- 6:39SPEAKER_00: we wind up attracting exactly the very thing that we're most afraid of.
- 6:45SPEAKER_00: So, for example, if someone were to have a fear of abandonment, let's say.
- 6:51SPEAKER_00: then they might be so afraid of being abandoned that they show up in relationships
- 6:57SPEAKER_00: and friendships as clingy or needy or controlling,
- 7:01SPEAKER_00: perhaps.
- 7:02SPEAKER_00: And then the other person feels smothered and they don't like that.
- 7:06SPEAKER_00: So they decide they have to leave.
- 7:08SPEAKER_00: Or the fearful person goes in the opposite direction.
- 7:13SPEAKER_00: And acts cold and,
- 7:16SPEAKER_00: you know,
- 7:17SPEAKER_00: indifferent and nonchalant,
- 7:19SPEAKER_00: you know,
- 7:20SPEAKER_00: giving this sort of like,
- 7:21SPEAKER_00: I don't really care about this sort of vibe.
- 7:23SPEAKER_00: And they do this in order to protect themselves.
- 7:26SPEAKER_00: And the other person still leaves because they didn't feel loved.
- 7:32SPEAKER_00: Either way, then what?
- 7:34SPEAKER_00: Well,
- 7:34SPEAKER_00: the person with the fear of abandonment will be left behind,
- 7:38SPEAKER_00: and that's going to reinforce their fear of abandonment.
- 7:42SPEAKER_00: And this pattern will continue to repeat itself unless the person with the fear is
- 7:47SPEAKER_00: aware of it and actively working on it.
- 7:50SPEAKER_00: Also, our deepest wounds become more activated when we get stressed or put under pressure.
- 7:58SPEAKER_00: The more stress we get, the more our wounds act up and rise to the surface.
- 8:03SPEAKER_00: And of course,
- 8:05SPEAKER_00: it gets especially activated when something in our lives or someone in our lives
- 8:12SPEAKER_00: comes along and brushes up against that wound.
- 8:15SPEAKER_00: That's the real biggie.
- 8:16SPEAKER_00: So you can look at your life up until this point.
- 8:20SPEAKER_00: Consider where your most visceral and emotional reactions have come from in a way
- 8:26SPEAKER_00: that did not feel great.
- 8:28SPEAKER_00: And think about what was going on then.
- 8:31SPEAKER_00: And you can be pretty certain that that thing, that event, brushed up against your Chiron wound.
- 8:38SPEAKER_00: Now, I know all of this doesn't sound all that tantalizing, does it?
- 8:43SPEAKER_00: It's not necessarily a fun time to look at our wounds or our early trauma in many cases.
- 8:50SPEAKER_00: But here's the good news about Chiron, and it is really good news.
- 8:54SPEAKER_00: Your Chiron placement reflects what it is that is the deepest source of pain for you in your life.
- 9:02SPEAKER_00: But this is also where you have the most healing ability.
- 9:08SPEAKER_00: It's the spot where there is the most opportunity for personal and spiritual growth
- 9:14SPEAKER_00: for you in this lifetime.
- 9:16SPEAKER_00: And it is where you are most able to
- 9:20SPEAKER_00: destined even, if you want to think of it that way, to become a healer for others with a similar wound.
- 9:27SPEAKER_00: This part is so important.
- 9:29SPEAKER_00: If you are interested in doing this work,
- 9:31SPEAKER_00: then you are meant to become a source of healing for others in this area and in
- 9:36SPEAKER_00: this way.
- 9:37SPEAKER_00: This is your gift to the world and where you can be of service.
- 9:42SPEAKER_00: You want, on an essence level, to be like a wise elder here.
- 9:48SPEAKER_00: Now, here's the tricky thing about Chiron and your Chiron placement and your wound.
- 9:53SPEAKER_00: You may never fully heal yourself or heal your own wound.
- 9:57SPEAKER_00: That might sound odd,
- 9:58SPEAKER_00: but our Chiron wound can't really be healed in the sense that we traditionally
- 10:05SPEAKER_00: think of healing,
- 10:06SPEAKER_00: meaning we can't get rid of it.
- 10:07SPEAKER_00: We
- 10:10SPEAKER_00: make it go away or erase it somehow.
- 10:13SPEAKER_00: And this relates back to the Greek myth and Chiron's story.
- 10:18SPEAKER_00: Healing takes on a different meaning here.
- 10:20SPEAKER_00: Healing here is more about knowing what your wound is
- 10:26SPEAKER_00: acknowledging that it's a part of you and will always be a part of you,
- 10:30SPEAKER_00: and learning to live successfully and contentedly with our wound,
- 10:35SPEAKER_00: or at least in the presence of our wound.
- 10:37SPEAKER_00: You're acknowledging that life is not perfect,
- 10:41SPEAKER_00: that you are not perfect,
- 10:43SPEAKER_00: and no one else is either,
- 10:44SPEAKER_00: by the way.
- 10:46SPEAKER_00: Humans aren't meant to be perfect.
- 10:48SPEAKER_00: We're flawed.
- 10:49SPEAKER_00: But it's okay to be flawed.
- 10:51SPEAKER_00: We don't need to seek perfection.
- 10:54SPEAKER_00: In seeing our wounds this way, the wound loses much of its power over us because we're aware now.
- 11:02SPEAKER_00: We know that it's there.
- 11:04SPEAKER_00: We can catch ourselves when it starts to show up and tries to take over.
- 11:09SPEAKER_00: And then we can show ourselves some mercy.
- 11:12SPEAKER_00: We can take better, wiser actions and love ourselves anyway.
- 11:17SPEAKER_00: It's like alchemy.
- 11:19SPEAKER_00: We're changing the substance of something, right?
- 11:21SPEAKER_00: We are taking our trauma and turning it into something else that makes us stronger,
- 11:27SPEAKER_00: wiser,
- 11:28SPEAKER_00: and more compassionate.
- 11:29SPEAKER_00: And we can show others how to do this too.
- 11:32SPEAKER_00: And by the way, you might already be doing this, even if you're not aware of it.
- 11:36SPEAKER_00: What happens a lot is that because you have this wound and you're worried about
- 11:44SPEAKER_00: this so-called weakness of yours from such a young age,
- 11:48SPEAKER_00: what happens is that some people overcompensate for it.
- 11:51SPEAKER_00: And then you actually get pretty good at it,
- 11:53SPEAKER_00: even though you're worried about it and you perceive it as a weak spot.
- 11:57SPEAKER_00: So for example, let's say you have Chiron in the ninth house and
- 12:02SPEAKER_00: Of course,
- 12:03SPEAKER_00: any house placement can mean a whole variety of different things,
- 12:07SPEAKER_00: and each one can show up in different ways for different people.
- 12:11SPEAKER_00: There's no single placement that means the exact same thing for every person with that house placement.
- 12:17SPEAKER_00: Chiron in the ninth house could be about
- 12:21SPEAKER_00: being wounded by religious beliefs early in your life,
- 12:25SPEAKER_00: or philosophies that weren't helpful and made you feel bad about yourself,
- 12:30SPEAKER_00: or it could be about your education.
- 12:33SPEAKER_00: Any number of things might be possible.
- 12:35SPEAKER_00: Let's say, though, in this instance that this particular wound is around feeling very unworldly.
- 12:42SPEAKER_00: Maybe...
- 12:43SPEAKER_00: In childhood,
- 12:44SPEAKER_00: you were persecuted or rejected or made fun of early in life because of your or
- 12:51SPEAKER_00: your family's belief system,
- 12:53SPEAKER_00: or you were made to feel unsophisticated or like you were a bumpkin or something.
- 12:58SPEAKER_00: Again, this is just one of the many possibilities with this placement.
- 13:01SPEAKER_00: But in this case, you had this going on early in life.
- 13:05SPEAKER_00: It made you feel inferior.
- 13:07SPEAKER_00: You worried about this a lot.
- 13:09SPEAKER_00: It impacted the way you related to other people and the way you felt like you could show up in the world.
- 13:15SPEAKER_00: And as a result,
- 13:18SPEAKER_00: You grew up and matured and did everything in your power that you could think of to
- 13:22SPEAKER_00: counteract this image.
- 13:24SPEAKER_00: You focused a lot on your education.
- 13:26SPEAKER_00: You kept yourself very informed about the world, followed the news in depth.
- 13:31SPEAKER_00: You learned about some very interesting topics so that you could have smart conversations with people.
- 13:36SPEAKER_00: Maybe you traveled a bit.
- 13:38SPEAKER_00: And in essence, you became very worldly.
- 13:41SPEAKER_00: And everyone sees you that way now.
- 13:44SPEAKER_00: And they look to you as a source of worldliness and information and refinement,
- 13:50SPEAKER_00: not knowing that it all stems from very early pain for you.
- 13:56SPEAKER_00: And you might not even realize that you're a positive force for others around these
- 14:00SPEAKER_00: things because you're still worried that you're inferior and are trying to navigate
- 14:06SPEAKER_00: your way around that.
- 14:09SPEAKER_00: So it can work like that.
- 14:10SPEAKER_00: It may be a latent healing ability or a healing journey that you haven't tapped
- 14:15SPEAKER_00: into yet,
- 14:16SPEAKER_00: or you might already be doing it,
- 14:18SPEAKER_00: at least on some level,
- 14:19SPEAKER_00: without realizing it.
- 14:21SPEAKER_00: In the latter case,
- 14:23SPEAKER_00: you know,
- 14:23SPEAKER_00: it still helps to be aware of your woundedness and to be actively working on it so
- 14:27SPEAKER_00: that you can tap into the most positive aspects of it rather than falling into the
- 14:34SPEAKER_00: shadow side of it.
- 14:36SPEAKER_00: Like in this example, there could be a risk of coming across as arrogant because you're overcompensating.
- 14:43SPEAKER_00: Like...
- 14:44SPEAKER_00: you're worried about being unworldly,
- 14:47SPEAKER_00: and so you take things too far and come across as insincere and possibly stuck up,
- 14:53SPEAKER_00: which probably wasn't the vibe you had originally intended on.
- 14:58SPEAKER_00: Most of us
- 14:59SPEAKER_00: get much better at integrating our Chiron wound,
- 15:03SPEAKER_00: by the way,
- 15:04SPEAKER_00: in middle age,
- 15:05SPEAKER_00: or as we enter,
- 15:06SPEAKER_00: you know,
- 15:07SPEAKER_00: into the second half of our lives.
- 15:10SPEAKER_00: Chiron takes around 50 years to move all the way around the
- 15:18SPEAKER_00: lives to that age will go through a Chiron return around the age of 50, give or take a year or two.
- 15:25SPEAKER_00: And when I say a return,
- 15:27SPEAKER_00: that just means that it's returned to the same degree of the same sign it was in
- 15:33SPEAKER_00: when you were born.
- 15:34SPEAKER_00: This can be one of those aspects that people are picking up on when they talk about a midlife crisis.
- 15:41SPEAKER_00: Your Uranus opposition is another one.
- 15:45SPEAKER_00: But this is a time in one's life where your oldest, deepest wounds may come up for review.
- 15:52SPEAKER_00: And you either get a chance to do some really deep inner work if you've avoided
- 15:57SPEAKER_00: working on this pain up to that point.
- 16:00SPEAKER_00: And if you have done that, this process will probably feel a lot more jarring and possibly painful.
- 16:07SPEAKER_00: Or you may also go in for another round of additional healing if you have already
- 16:13SPEAKER_00: been doing your healing work.
- 16:14SPEAKER_00: Usually this is the less painful, less arduous path.
- 16:19SPEAKER_00: And it's after this point or at this point where you can also really step into a
- 16:25SPEAKER_00: healing and leadership role for others by the time this transit is finished.
- 16:29SPEAKER_00: So this is a bit like stepping into the next phase of life as an elder or a source of wisdom.
- 16:38SPEAKER_00: But you do not have to be at this age to work on your Chiron wound, not at all.
- 16:43SPEAKER_00: And in fact,
- 16:43SPEAKER_00: as I just said,
- 16:44SPEAKER_00: it's better to be working on it all along so that it doesn't have to hit you like a
- 16:48SPEAKER_00: ton of bricks when you hit your Chiron return.
- 16:52SPEAKER_00: Now,
- 16:52SPEAKER_00: as I briefly touched upon at the beginning of this discussion,
- 16:56SPEAKER_00: Chiron's energy and astrological influence is really best understood in the context
- 17:02SPEAKER_00: of Greek mythology.
- 17:04SPEAKER_00: According to Greek myth, Chiron was a centaur born to the god Kronos and the nymph Phylira.
- 17:11SPEAKER_00: There's some interesting backstory there that varies depending on the version of
- 17:16SPEAKER_00: the mythology you're getting.
- 17:17SPEAKER_00: But they had physically taken the form of horses at the time, though they weren't always horses.
- 17:23SPEAKER_00: And so Chiron ended up being born a half horse, half man, or what we call a centaur.
- 17:29SPEAKER_00: Chiron's mother,
- 17:30SPEAKER_00: for a variety of very complex reasons,
- 17:33SPEAKER_00: was horrified at the strange,
- 17:36SPEAKER_00: you know,
- 17:36SPEAKER_00: half-man appearance of her child and abandoned him,
- 17:41SPEAKER_00: leaving him to fend for himself.
- 17:44SPEAKER_00: This part of Chiron's story,
- 17:47SPEAKER_00: being abandoned and rejected by his mother,
- 17:50SPEAKER_00: is indicative of that early wound we were just talking about.
- 17:55SPEAKER_00: Chiron started his life feeling unlovable because his parents abandoned him and he was alone.
- 18:02SPEAKER_00: So this represents this vulnerability, right?
- 18:05SPEAKER_00: This idea we get that we might be unlovable somehow.
- 18:10SPEAKER_00: that we don't want to have to look at or even acknowledge.
- 18:14SPEAKER_00: Now the next part of his story is that Chiron fended for himself for a while,
- 18:19SPEAKER_00: but was later taken in and adopted by Apollo and Artemis,
- 18:24SPEAKER_00: who raised him and gave him a world of opportunity.
- 18:28SPEAKER_00: They gave him an incredible education.
- 18:31SPEAKER_00: They made him very worldly.
- 18:33SPEAKER_00: He learned about art and music and archery.
- 18:36SPEAKER_00: And most of all, they taught him to be a healer.
- 18:40SPEAKER_00: He was renowned for this.
- 18:42SPEAKER_00: His healing abilities, in fact, were second only to Apollo's.
- 18:47SPEAKER_00: And he also became a teacher and shared his knowledge of the healing profession
- 18:53SPEAKER_00: with many other prominent figures in Greek mythology,
- 18:56SPEAKER_00: like Hercules.
- 18:57SPEAKER_00: This all went very well for a while,
- 18:59SPEAKER_00: until one day when during a skirmish with some other more unruly centaurs,
- 19:06SPEAKER_00: Hercules accidentally shot Chiron in the leg with a poisoned arrow.
- 19:11SPEAKER_00: This caused a big gaping wound that, because of the poison, could not be healed.
- 19:17SPEAKER_00: And even though Chiron was the best of healers and had healed so many people of so
- 19:22SPEAKER_00: many things,
- 19:23SPEAKER_00: he was unable to heal himself of his own wound.
- 19:27SPEAKER_00: He tried everything he knew how to do, and eventually he realized that this wound would never go away.
- 19:35SPEAKER_00: So he made a deal with the gods,
- 19:37SPEAKER_00: specifically with Zeus,
- 19:39SPEAKER_00: and gave up his immortality and willingly gave it to Prometheus,
- 19:46SPEAKER_00: essentially sacrificing his own life for Prometheus.
- 19:50SPEAKER_00: So here we have this other part of Chiron's story where he realizes that there are
- 19:57SPEAKER_00: some wounds that simply do not go away,
- 20:00SPEAKER_00: but that you can ultimately find a way to use it for good anyway.
- 20:06SPEAKER_00: In his case, he used his own situation to heal Prometheus.
- 20:11SPEAKER_00: It's also true that we see Chiron's acceptance of his own humanity here.
- 20:17SPEAKER_00: He was living as an immortal,
- 20:19SPEAKER_00: as a god,
- 20:20SPEAKER_00: but ultimately the only way through his pain was to accept being human instead.
- 20:26SPEAKER_00: He could no longer be immortal.
- 20:28SPEAKER_00: He could no longer be perfect or untouchable.
- 20:32SPEAKER_00: He had to come to terms with
- 20:34SPEAKER_00: with being in an imperfect state.
- 20:37SPEAKER_00: Now,
- 20:38SPEAKER_00: for most of us,
- 20:38SPEAKER_00: thankfully,
- 20:39SPEAKER_00: our stories aren't going to be nearly as drastic as Chiron's,
- 20:42SPEAKER_00: but you get the metaphor here.
- 20:44SPEAKER_00: We are human,
- 20:45SPEAKER_00: and to be human is to have a flawed experience,
- 20:49SPEAKER_00: and sometimes that means we are powerless to change our circumstances,
- 20:53SPEAKER_00: particularly around things that have already happened.
- 20:57SPEAKER_00: And our only choice, then, is to make lemonade out of lemons.
- 21:02SPEAKER_00: So that's the story of Chiron in Greek mythology.
- 21:06SPEAKER_00: Look at your chart sometime soon if you haven't already and consider the house placement.
- 21:12SPEAKER_00: Think about all of the parts of your life that fall under the rulership of that house.
- 21:17SPEAKER_00: Brainstorm a bit and see if you can begin to hone in on where your Chiron wound lies.
- 21:25SPEAKER_00: What do you think it is?
- 21:27SPEAKER_00: What early experiences might pertain to it?
- 21:31SPEAKER_00: How is it showing up in your life?
- 21:34SPEAKER_00: What types of things bring up very intense emotional responses for you?
- 21:40SPEAKER_00: Or maybe knee-jerk reactions to things on occasion?
- 21:45SPEAKER_00: Where do you feel fear in your life?
- 21:48SPEAKER_00: What patterns keep cropping up that kind of thwart your best intentions and your
- 21:53SPEAKER_00: desires again and again?
- 21:55SPEAKER_00: All of these things can point to your Chiron wound.
- 21:59SPEAKER_00: Other things in your chart,
- 22:00SPEAKER_00: though,
- 22:00SPEAKER_00: that can quickly tell you more about the nature of your Chiron wound are the
- 22:05SPEAKER_00: aspects that it makes in your chart.
- 22:08SPEAKER_00: with other planets or with your angles,
- 22:10SPEAKER_00: angles especially,
- 22:12SPEAKER_00: if you have Chiron in aspect or conjunct one of your angles,
- 22:17SPEAKER_00: that is very significant.
- 22:19SPEAKER_00: Or even just having Chiron in an angular house,
- 22:23SPEAKER_00: those being the first,
- 22:24SPEAKER_00: fourth,
- 22:25SPEAKER_00: seventh,
- 22:25SPEAKER_00: and tenth houses,
- 22:27SPEAKER_00: that's similar.
- 22:28SPEAKER_00: If your Chiron is conjunct
- 22:30SPEAKER_00: or near your ascendant line or your midheaven.
- 22:34SPEAKER_00: That's going to be some kind of identity wound or something related to how you show
- 22:40SPEAKER_00: up in the world or the image you project or the way people see you and your reputation,
- 22:46SPEAKER_00: how you see your reputation and whether it pains you in some way.
- 22:52SPEAKER_00: It could also have to do with your physical body or the relationship you have with
- 22:58SPEAKER_00: your physical body in the first house.
- 23:00SPEAKER_00: Having it in the fourth house or conjunct your IC is going to be about family.
- 23:06SPEAKER_00: This is most likely to be something around your childhood or something going on in the home and family.
- 23:14SPEAKER_00: And if it's on your descendant line or your seventh house, that's a relationship wound.
- 23:19SPEAKER_00: That's how you feel about yourself in relationship to other people.
- 23:25SPEAKER_00: Planets conjunct Chiron are also very telling.
- 23:29SPEAKER_00: You would want to think about the energies associated with the conjunct planet and
- 23:35SPEAKER_00: how that energy could be a sore spot for you or an area that you feel
- 23:40SPEAKER_00: self-conscious about.
- 23:41SPEAKER_00: Lunar node conjunctions are another thing to look for.
- 23:44SPEAKER_00: These are really interesting.
- 23:46SPEAKER_00: That can literally be about having your life's work pertaining to healing or having
- 23:52SPEAKER_00: a lifetime where you literally are a healer of some sort.
- 23:56SPEAKER_00: That could be a spiritual healer or a mental health professional or a medical
- 24:01SPEAKER_00: professional or working to heal people around certain life challenges that mean a
- 24:07SPEAKER_00: lot to you.
- 24:09SPEAKER_00: You'll get a better sense of how to look at all of this,
- 24:12SPEAKER_00: too,
- 24:13SPEAKER_00: once we talk about aspects,
- 24:14SPEAKER_00: which will be in the next couple of episodes.
- 24:17SPEAKER_00: I'll make a quick note here that if you're looking at this stuff for the first time, it could feel tough.
- 24:23SPEAKER_00: Like I said, it's not fun to bring up our wounds.
- 24:26SPEAKER_00: Not for everyone.
- 24:27SPEAKER_00: It may not feel like that for you.
- 24:29SPEAKER_00: Please,
- 24:29SPEAKER_00: though,
- 24:30SPEAKER_00: if anything does come up that you're feeling like you can't handle or work with on
- 24:35SPEAKER_00: your own,
- 24:36SPEAKER_00: please don't hesitate to reach out to someone qualified to support you.
- 24:40SPEAKER_00: Maybe that's a mental health professional or your physician or a clergyman, if that's your thing.
- 24:47SPEAKER_00: Just maybe don't be sad alone when you could instead be supported.
- 24:52SPEAKER_00: Okay, so let's just quickly go through some possible meanings for Chiron in the signs and houses.
- 24:59SPEAKER_00: Again,
- 24:59SPEAKER_00: this is so general because there are lots of possibilities and your house placement
- 25:05SPEAKER_00: doesn't necessarily show up in the same way for you as it would for someone else
- 25:10SPEAKER_00: with the same house placement or if it were in the same sign.
- 25:13SPEAKER_00: So I was kind of hesitant actually to include this part at all.
- 25:17SPEAKER_00: I think we'll do it anyway because it might be helpful as you get started.
- 25:20SPEAKER_00: But
- 25:22SPEAKER_00: Be sure to explore these in more depth on your own and definitely do some inner
- 25:28SPEAKER_00: work and some soul searching to try and come up with your own unique possibilities too.
- 25:33SPEAKER_00: If you have Chiron in either the first house or the sign of Aries,
- 25:39SPEAKER_00: you may have experienced wounds related to your identity or being able to assert
- 25:45SPEAKER_00: yourself or acting independently.
- 25:49SPEAKER_00: You may struggle to find your confidence somehow.
- 25:54SPEAKER_00: And your healing power,
- 25:57SPEAKER_00: though,
- 25:58SPEAKER_00: is around helping people embrace their individuality and take action with courage.
- 26:05SPEAKER_00: This is really about helping people embrace their authenticity.
- 26:10SPEAKER_00: Chiron in the second house or in the sign of Taurus,
- 26:14SPEAKER_00: this placement could indicate wounds related to self-esteem,
- 26:20SPEAKER_00: having a sense of security in the world,
- 26:23SPEAKER_00: especially maybe having financial security,
- 26:26SPEAKER_00: maybe money or poverty was an issue growing up.
- 26:30SPEAKER_00: There could be a scarcity mindset or
- 26:33SPEAKER_00: fear of scarcity with displacement,
- 26:36SPEAKER_00: but your healing power may be around helping people cultivate their sense of
- 26:42SPEAKER_00: self-worth and helping people build self-esteem.
- 26:45SPEAKER_00: Chiron in the third house or in the sign of Gemini is
- 26:49SPEAKER_00: could indicate a wound around communication or your ability to have effective communication,
- 26:58SPEAKER_00: or maybe there's a fear that you're not able to learn easily,
- 27:02SPEAKER_00: like maybe you struggled in school a lot and that damaged your confidence.
- 27:07SPEAKER_00: It could also indicate early difficulty around making social connections.
- 27:13SPEAKER_00: But this can prompt you to be very curious as a person and to become a really
- 27:19SPEAKER_00: strong communicator ultimately in a way that facilitates learning for others.
- 27:26SPEAKER_00: If you have Chiron in the fourth house or in the sign of Cancer,
- 27:31SPEAKER_00: this placement may indicate that there are wounds related to family dynamics.
- 27:37SPEAKER_00: Also,
- 27:37SPEAKER_00: maybe early nurturing,
- 27:39SPEAKER_00: having a sense of belonging,
- 27:42SPEAKER_00: or wounds related to emotions or emotional vulnerability.
- 27:49SPEAKER_00: And for you,
- 27:51SPEAKER_00: if you can really develop your ability to have self-compassion,
- 27:56SPEAKER_00: then you will be able to create a very warm and supportive environment for other people.
- 28:03SPEAKER_00: If you have Chiron in the fifth house or in the sign of Leo,
- 28:08SPEAKER_00: This one can be about having wounds related to self-expression or creativity or a need for recognition.
- 28:17SPEAKER_00: This is about being seen and being noticed.
- 28:20SPEAKER_00: So there could be a fear of rejection,
- 28:23SPEAKER_00: of not blending in,
- 28:26SPEAKER_00: of being scared to speak up,
- 28:28SPEAKER_00: or overcompensating and becoming attention-seeking in some cases.
- 28:34SPEAKER_00: And the healing gift here is around embracing your authenticity,
- 28:40SPEAKER_00: loving yourself so that you don't require validation from others,
- 28:44SPEAKER_00: and expressing your creativity without caring so much about how other people will
- 28:49SPEAKER_00: perceive it.
- 28:51SPEAKER_00: And it's your individuality, your art, or your projects that may in fact heal people.
- 28:58SPEAKER_00: Or you're setting an example for others to follow so that they can do the same.
- 29:02SPEAKER_00: If you have Chiron in the sixth house or in the sign of Virgo,
- 29:06SPEAKER_00: this can be often about perfectionism with yourself or with other people.
- 29:12SPEAKER_00: The fear here is that you'll be inadequate or that you'll lose control over your life.
- 29:18SPEAKER_00: So you might want to micromanage it.
- 29:21SPEAKER_00: And you can become really hard on yourself or others possibly.
- 29:25SPEAKER_00: And it can also be about health here or just maybe having fears about health or
- 29:30SPEAKER_00: obsessing somewhat about your health.
- 29:32SPEAKER_00: The gift is that you can become really adept though eventually and with practice at
- 29:37SPEAKER_00: accepting life as it is and finding peace with imperfection.
- 29:42SPEAKER_00: And a lot of people in our culture need a good healer in this area.
- 29:49SPEAKER_00: With Chiron in the seventh house or in the sign of Libra, these wounds are related to relationships.
- 29:57SPEAKER_00: A lot of these folks tend to be afraid of conflict.
- 30:01SPEAKER_00: They desire harmony and balance.
- 30:04SPEAKER_00: And so they might become codependent or conflict avoidant,
- 30:09SPEAKER_00: or they might over-identify with their relationships and lose some of their
- 30:13SPEAKER_00: individuality and independence.
- 30:16SPEAKER_00: So the healing process involves learning to set healthy boundaries,
- 30:20SPEAKER_00: learning to assert yourself more,
- 30:23SPEAKER_00: but doing it in your own diplomatic,
- 30:25SPEAKER_00: fair way that you're so good at,
- 30:28SPEAKER_00: and maintaining your individuality even when you're in partnership.
- 30:33SPEAKER_00: You gift people with your ability to create harmony,
- 30:37SPEAKER_00: and you can teach people how to have healthy,
- 30:40SPEAKER_00: balanced relationships with good boundaries.
- 30:43SPEAKER_00: If you have Chiron in the eighth house or in the sign of Scorpio,
- 30:48SPEAKER_00: this can be related to feeling fearful of change or fearful of instability in some way.
- 30:54SPEAKER_00: It may signify a lot of that there was a lot of upheaval in the past or perhaps
- 31:00SPEAKER_00: wounds related to intimacy,
- 31:03SPEAKER_00: wounds related to power dynamics,
- 31:06SPEAKER_00: possibly betrayal.
- 31:08SPEAKER_00: There is sometimes a financial component,
- 31:11SPEAKER_00: too,
- 31:11SPEAKER_00: because maybe resources were scarce or they were used in a negative way.
- 31:16SPEAKER_00: Sometimes this placement can be an indicator of abuse, though not necessarily.
- 31:22SPEAKER_00: Whatever is there,
- 31:23SPEAKER_00: though,
- 31:24SPEAKER_00: you may sometimes grapple with issues related to trust or some deeper types of
- 31:29SPEAKER_00: emotional wounds.
- 31:31SPEAKER_00: And your healing gift may come through facing fears,
- 31:37SPEAKER_00: embracing your vulnerability,
- 31:39SPEAKER_00: and really just becoming someone who is able to help other people go through big
- 31:46SPEAKER_00: life transformations.
- 31:47SPEAKER_00: This is a really powerful placement if you can figure out how to maneuver it and
- 31:52SPEAKER_00: use it for the greater good.
- 31:54SPEAKER_00: It really, really is powerful.
- 31:56SPEAKER_00: Chiron in the ninth house.
- 31:58SPEAKER_00: Or in the sign of Sagittarius.
- 32:00SPEAKER_00: As I mentioned earlier,
- 32:01SPEAKER_00: this can be about having wounds related to beliefs,
- 32:05SPEAKER_00: possibly religion,
- 32:06SPEAKER_00: if you had a very strict or religious upbringing.
- 32:09SPEAKER_00: Or you felt like your worldview or perspective was always challenged in some way.
- 32:15SPEAKER_00: Something might have felt constraining to you.
- 32:18SPEAKER_00: And so you'll probably find yourself, if you haven't already, on a horizon-broadening path.
- 32:24SPEAKER_00: personal growth journey,
- 32:25SPEAKER_00: and you are capable of bringing all kinds of interesting new ideas and perspectives
- 32:31SPEAKER_00: to the world or to the people around you.
- 32:34SPEAKER_00: Chiron in the 10th house or in the sign of Capricorn makes me think of someone who
- 32:41SPEAKER_00: had too much responsibility hoisted on them at a very young age.
- 32:46SPEAKER_00: Or alternatively,
- 32:48SPEAKER_00: there could have been a very strong authority figure in your life that was
- 32:52SPEAKER_00: difficult for you to deal with.
- 32:55SPEAKER_00: Or perhaps you were pushed to be extremely ambitious,
- 32:58SPEAKER_00: maybe more ambitious than you wanted to be or naturally were.
- 33:02SPEAKER_00: I think it could also be the opposite too, and maybe someone or no one supported your ambitions.
- 33:08SPEAKER_00: So perhaps you feel burdened by life or you have a fear of failure,
- 33:13SPEAKER_00: like you have to keep pushing and you just can't let up.
- 33:16SPEAKER_00: So you have work to do around reframing your idea of what success is and what it really means to you.
- 33:23SPEAKER_00: And, you know, what happens if you stop pushing so hard?
- 33:26SPEAKER_00: And your healing gift is around giving others permission to do the same and encouraging that.
- 33:32SPEAKER_00: Now Chiron in the 11th house or in the sign of Aquarius, this one's interesting.
- 33:37SPEAKER_00: This placement is about community and belonging.
- 33:40SPEAKER_00: It's not an accident that the first generation in history to grow up with social
- 33:45SPEAKER_00: media and smartphones has Chiron in Aquarius.
- 33:49SPEAKER_00: This can be about feeling isolated, even if you seem connected on the surface.
- 33:55SPEAKER_00: It can also be about fitting in as well as social justice issues.
- 33:59SPEAKER_00: So healing for you is going to be about forming real and solid connections in
- 34:05SPEAKER_00: person with like-minded individuals on the personal level and becoming an advocate
- 34:12SPEAKER_00: for your social causes on the community level.
- 34:16SPEAKER_00: And finally, we have Chiron in Pisces.
- 34:19SPEAKER_00: Also,
- 34:20SPEAKER_00: if you have Chiron in the 12th house,
- 34:24SPEAKER_00: individuals with Chiron in Pisces or the 12th house may experience wounds related
- 34:29SPEAKER_00: to spirituality or have difficulty feeling grounded.
- 34:34SPEAKER_00: The world might feel like a lot to deal with if you have this placement.
- 34:38SPEAKER_00: You may be very sensitive to the point that it disrupts your emotions or your emotional state a lot.
- 34:45SPEAKER_00: And escapism can be common here.
- 34:49SPEAKER_00: But you're incredibly compassionate and you have the potential to become a master
- 34:54SPEAKER_00: spiritual healer if you want to do that work.
- 34:57SPEAKER_00: I almost see this as a guru placement.
- 34:59SPEAKER_00: So it's a powerful one here.
- 35:03SPEAKER_00: Okay, I am going to wrap this up for today.
- 35:06SPEAKER_00: I think we've completed our discussion on Chiron.
- 35:10SPEAKER_00: If you have a few extra seconds, I'd love it if you could rate or review this podcast.
- 35:15SPEAKER_00: That will really help the show and make sure that more people can find it.
- 35:19SPEAKER_00: I also encourage you to subscribe through whatever app you like to listen on.
- 35:24SPEAKER_00: That will ensure that you never miss an episode.
- 35:27SPEAKER_00: Thank you so much for being here and learning astrology with me.
- 35:30SPEAKER_00: I'd like to cover angles and aspects next.
- 35:34SPEAKER_00: Not necessarily in that order.
- 35:35SPEAKER_00: We'll see.
- 35:36SPEAKER_00: But in the meantime, though, have a great week and I will see you next time.
