- 0:02Speaker 1: Hello and welcome to Outspoken. It's your dose of the
- 0:05Speaker 1: hottest influencer and pop culture news twice a week. I'm
- 0:09Speaker 1: Kate Torber and coming up on today's show, more red
- 0:12Speaker 1: flags for Tammy Hembrough ahead of her wedding next month,
- 0:15Speaker 1: Sarah's Day's dramatic final days of pregnancy and Steph Clare
- 0:19Speaker 1: Smith's anticlimactic life update.
- 0:21Speaker 2: But first, a bizarre.
- 0:23Speaker 1: Rant about sausages and saunas has sparked breakup rumors between
- 0:27Speaker 1: Sky Wheatley and her baby daddy, Lockie, war.
- 0:30Speaker 2: Yeah, so Lockie has.
- 0:31Speaker 1: Been missing from Sky's social media for a couple of
- 0:33Speaker 1: weeks now. And it's quite odd because initially, Lockie never
- 0:37Speaker 1: wanted to be included on Sky's channel. He made it
- 0:39Speaker 1: pretty clear he didn't want to get involved. But since
- 0:42Speaker 1: she won I'm a Celeb, he has started being featured
- 0:45Speaker 1: more and more and At the time, a lot of
- 0:48Speaker 1: people said possibly it was because his business wasn't doing
- 0:51Speaker 1: so well. So maybe he realized that he might have
- 0:54Speaker 1: to go on and start a social media career of
- 0:56Speaker 1: his own or be more supportive of Sky's career. Well,
- 0:58Speaker 1: a couple of months ago, there were media reports that
- 1:01Speaker 1: his business ShopFitCo had gone into administration. Just last week,
- 1:05Speaker 1: he hit back at those claims saying that his business
- 1:07Speaker 1: was still solvent. I have always loved seeing Lockie on
- 1:11Speaker 1: Sky's channel. He is hilarious even without trying to be.
- 1:14Speaker 1: I have a soft spot for him as well because
- 1:16Speaker 1: I don't think he intentionally tries to be funny. No.
- 1:19Speaker 1: I think he's just, I don't want to say an oddball,
- 1:21Speaker 1: but I think he's just a bit weird and he
- 1:24Speaker 1: and Sky just play off each other really well because
- 1:27Speaker 1: he'll give it to her. Yeah. A lot of people
- 1:29Speaker 1: have noticed that he's actually a bit of eye candy
- 1:31Speaker 1: as well. He was never really my type, but he
- 1:33Speaker 1: seems to have matured a bit.
- 1:35Speaker 2: I don't know if he's just been hitting the gym
- 1:37Speaker 2: or not.
- 1:37Speaker 1: I think it's when guys reach 30 and they start
- 1:39Speaker 1: to look like real men.
- 1:41Speaker 2: Yeah, maybe that has something to do with it.
- 1:43Speaker 1: I had a big laugh on Sunday because I don't
- 1:45Speaker 1: follow him on social media, but one of the comments
- 1:48Speaker 1: on Sky's photos said to go check it out because
- 1:50Speaker 1: he was being a little bit unhinged. And his username
- 1:52Speaker 1: is Sweet Tooth, isn't it? It's actually not his real name. Yeah,
- 1:55Speaker 1: so when I clicked over, I was surprised. His page
- 1:58Speaker 1: actually has 51,000 followers. I'm guessing all of Sky's followers
- 2:01Speaker 1: have gone over. I haven't seen someone be so real
- 2:05Speaker 1: on social media for such a long time.
- 2:07Speaker 2: Let's throw to some of what he said. Just a
- 2:10Speaker 2: bit of fucking topic.
- 2:11Speaker 3: Go!
- 2:12Speaker 2: You fucking beauty And you know what happens When you
- 2:18Speaker 2: have a bit of chorizo It's a bit salty So
- 2:23Speaker 2: you gotta whip up another G & T baby You
- 2:28Speaker 2: fucking beauty.
- 2:31Speaker 1: And you know what they say when you've had too
- 2:33Speaker 1: much chorizo And too many G & Ts You just
- 2:37Speaker 1: gotta take yourself Downtown.
- 2:41Speaker 2: You gotta have a really serious think about what you've
- 2:44Speaker 2: done and you've gotta sweat it out baby. And then
- 2:50Speaker 2: you might find yourself sitting down pondering, wondering.
- 2:55Speaker 1: Why did I just eat three or four lengths of sausage?
- 3:00Speaker 3: You might be thinking, did I really need to eat
- 3:03Speaker 3: three pieces of sausage?
- 3:06Speaker 1: And then I lay here, I sit and wonder and
- 3:08Speaker 1: I think, Well, you probably didn't need to eat three
- 3:12Speaker 1: pieces of sausage. Maybe one sausage would have done. Maybe two,
- 3:16Speaker 1: but three, three pieces of sausage.
- 3:19Speaker 2: That's one sausage too much.
- 3:21Speaker 3: Don't know about you guys, but I hope you guys
- 3:27Speaker 3: enjoy that because I'll tell you what, I'm fucking sick
- 3:30Speaker 3: to death of just seeing.
- 3:32Speaker 1: Fucking fake shit. I don't know what's going on in
- 3:34Speaker 1: the fucking world anymore, but everyone's so just.
- 3:40Speaker 2: fucking serious and everyone's just doing fitness and shit i
- 3:45Speaker 2: mean that's all good being fit but like don't live
- 3:47Speaker 2: a lie just like do shit who cares stop being
- 3:51Speaker 2: so fucking serious.
- 3:56Speaker 1: I tend to agree with him i want to see
- 3:58Speaker 1: more content like that on social media i want to
- 4:00Speaker 1: see people being unhinged saying it how it is There
- 4:04Speaker 1: was a part of me that was thinking, is he
- 4:05Speaker 1: taking aim at Sky? But let's be honest, Sky is
- 4:07Speaker 1: exactly like that on social media. She does post fitness stuff,
- 4:10Speaker 1: but she also never filters herself.
- 4:13Speaker 2: I really enjoyed the content too.
- 4:14Speaker 1: However, there was a bit of a mixed reception in
- 4:16Speaker 1: our Facebook community. So one of our listeners said, his
- 4:19Speaker 1: stories are giving midlife crisis.
- 4:21Speaker 2: Ha ha ha.
- 4:22Speaker 1: Another said, guys who jump on social media and yap
- 4:25Speaker 1: are generally super embarrassing, to be honest. Whilst another said,
- 4:29Speaker 1: I'm finding it odd because he hated being on social media. Well,
- 4:33Speaker 1: the reason people think that Lockie has broken up with
- 4:36Speaker 1: Skye or that they're on a break is the fact
- 4:38Speaker 1: that all of that footage was actually filmed at, people
- 4:41Speaker 1: are speculating, his mum's house.
- 4:43Speaker 2: It was a very nice house. It had a beautiful pool.
- 4:46Speaker 2: It was very Hampton style. It even had a sauna,
- 4:48Speaker 2: as you could hear.
- 4:49Speaker 1: I remember seeing Lockie's parents appear in a very early
- 4:53Speaker 1: vlog when Skye and Lockie started dating. And I think
- 4:56Speaker 1: that they were meeting for a Christmas celebration and his
- 4:59Speaker 1: parents looked very how to do and they looked rather
- 5:01Speaker 1: taken back. by some of the things that Sky was saying.
- 5:04Speaker 1: So I think that they are very wealthy. Some people
- 5:07Speaker 1: think that he must just be house-sitting for his mum,
- 5:10Speaker 1: who appears to be holidaying at the moment. I wonder
- 5:12Speaker 1: if he went rogue on social media because he's a
- 5:14Speaker 1: bit lonely. He's probably used to being in this very
- 5:17Speaker 1: chaotic and loud house with Sky and their kids. And
- 5:20Speaker 1: maybe he just felt like getting some of that energy
- 5:23Speaker 1: out online. I just think he went rogue because he
- 5:26Speaker 1: was enjoying himself. I mean, if you're a father of
- 5:28Speaker 1: two and you're used to being in a family environment
- 5:31Speaker 1: and you've got this beautiful house by yourself He ate
- 5:33Speaker 1: three or four chorizo sausages.
- 5:35Speaker 2: And went in a sauna. I mean, what a perfect
- 5:37Speaker 2: evening for some people.
- 5:38Speaker 1: Yeah, it's just interesting that he would choose to share it,
- 5:40Speaker 1: particularly when he has been so against appearing in Sky's
- 5:43Speaker 1: social media content. I'm officially five days away from my
- 5:47Speaker 1: due date.
- 5:48Speaker 2: I'm at 39 weeks and two days.
- 5:51Speaker 1: Oh, you'll just have to believe me. I currently give.
- 5:53Speaker 3: You a bump update.
- 5:55Speaker 1: Sarah's day is definitely making the most out of her
- 5:57Speaker 1: third and final pregnancy.
- 5:59Speaker 2: The controversial influencer.
- 6:01Speaker 1: Has been keeping her 1.2 million followers regularly updated on
- 6:05Speaker 1: her final weeks of pregnancy from sharing induction methods to
- 6:09Speaker 1: a daily tally of her gestation period. For the record,
- 6:12Speaker 1: she's officially 40 weeks today. I keep checking in on
- 6:16Speaker 1: her Instagram account to see if the baby's finally here
- 6:19Speaker 1: and I just can't believe that it still hasn't arrived
- 6:21Speaker 1: because two weeks ago she did this big update.
- 6:24Speaker 2: Saying, oh my God, everyone, I've lost my mucus plug.
- 6:27Speaker 2: Baby must be on its way. But then she.
- 6:30Speaker 1: Plugged her Pilates or pregnancy workout guide as part of
- 6:34Speaker 1: that update. Of course she did, because that has been
- 6:37Speaker 1: a theme throughout it. You can tell that she really
- 6:39Speaker 1: is trying to monetize this pregnancy because pregnancy has been
- 6:42Speaker 1: such a big part.
- 6:43Speaker 2: Of her brand for the last five years.
- 6:46Speaker 1: I mean, you almost get the sense of desperation of
- 6:49Speaker 1: ensuring that she milks this final pregnancy. Well, I think
- 6:52Speaker 1: she realizes that now that she's going to have three
- 6:55Speaker 1: very young children and There's no way that she's going
- 6:58Speaker 1: to be able to push out the volume of content
- 7:00Speaker 1: that she used to. I mean, in the past couple
- 7:02Speaker 1: of years, we've seen a huge decline in the amount
- 7:04Speaker 1: of videos that she's put out and also the amount
- 7:06Speaker 1: of views that she receives on videos and the hype
- 7:08Speaker 1: around her. Well, her pregnancies have always created a lot
- 7:11Speaker 1: of hype and also acted as distraction from some of
- 7:15Speaker 1: the biggest scandals that she's been involved in. For instance,
- 7:18Speaker 1: her first pregnancy with Fox was the perfect distraction away
- 7:22Speaker 1: from that Sin 3 drama. And his birth ended up
- 7:25Speaker 1: being the most watched moment on her YouTube channel to date.
- 7:29Speaker 1: And she is definitely trying to build suspense with her
- 7:31Speaker 1: content around baby number three. So at 38 weeks pregnant,
- 7:35Speaker 1: Sarah revealed the methods that she was trying to induce labor.
- 7:39Speaker 1: So one of those was a pregnancy leg massage. So
- 7:43Speaker 1: she shared that the massage had brought on labor, not
- 7:46Speaker 1: only for her, but also her friends within 24 hours
- 7:49Speaker 1: of having it. And the following day, she was MIA
- 7:54Speaker 1: from her Instagram account, which caused a lot of speculation
- 7:57Speaker 1: that she had gone into labor. She then returned on
- 8:00Speaker 1: the Monday and told her followers that she doesn't post
- 8:02Speaker 1: much on the weekend. That was despite sharing about the
- 8:05Speaker 1: massage on Saturday.
- 8:06Speaker 2: Well, she's a businesswoman.
- 8:07Speaker 1: It's a great way to drum up engagement and get
- 8:09Speaker 1: people coming in to check back in on your page,
- 8:11Speaker 1: which I was doing. Now, one of the reasons that
- 8:14Speaker 1: Sarah seems so keen to induce labor is because of
- 8:17Speaker 1: the looming date of Halloween. So she revealed that she
- 8:20Speaker 1: does not want her baby born on Halloween because of
- 8:23Speaker 1: religious reasons. So a follower wrote on her page, I
- 8:26Speaker 1: wonder if you're going to have a Halloween baby, to
- 8:29Speaker 1: which she replied, I will put my pelvic floor to
- 8:31Speaker 1: the ultimate test and keep him inside of me if
- 8:34Speaker 1: my body tries to go into labor on Halloween.
- 8:37Speaker 2: My worst day of the year, no thanks.
- 8:39Speaker 1: A follower asked Sarah why, and she responded saying, I
- 8:42Speaker 1: just think it's super demonic and totally goes against my faith.
- 8:45Speaker 1: But if baby decides to come on Halloween, then I'll
- 8:48Speaker 1: actually celebrate that date for a different reason, including a
- 8:51Speaker 1: birthday cake emoji, as well as clapping hands and balloons.
- 8:55Speaker 1: At first, I thought it was a little bit of
- 8:56Speaker 1: a joke, the reference to Halloween, but then I realized
- 8:59Speaker 1: there were some religious reasonings behind not wanting to give
- 9:02Speaker 1: birth on that date. It's actually funny to hear an
- 9:05Speaker 1: influencer talk badly about Halloween because normally they're using it
- 9:08Speaker 1: for content and posting costume ideas. This didn't particularly surprise
- 9:12Speaker 1: me because Halloween is one of those holidays, which isn't
- 9:15Speaker 1: embraced by a lot of religions, particularly the Christian faith.
- 9:18Speaker 1: And she does speak a lot about her religious views.
- 9:20Speaker 1: So she's entitled to not want her baby born on Halloween.
- 9:23Speaker 1: My husband's birthday is actually a day before Halloween and
- 9:26Speaker 1: he has grown up hating Halloween. I think it's because
- 9:29Speaker 1: as a child, The day after your birthday is always
- 9:32Speaker 1: so disappointing. And I think he felt like Halloween took
- 9:35Speaker 1: the shine off the fact that it was his day.
- 9:37Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 9:37Speaker 1: Well, moving on to the drama surrounding this last week
- 9:40Speaker 1: of pregnancy. On Monday last week, while doing a tutorial
- 9:44Speaker 1: on how to express colostrum, Sarah flagged that she was
- 9:48Speaker 1: starting to feel unwell. So during Sarah's last labor with
- 9:51Speaker 1: her son Malachi, she actually had rhinovirus and she was
- 9:54Speaker 1: very unwell. And she said the fact that she was
- 9:57Speaker 1: getting a scratchy throat actually was triggering her because she
- 10:01Speaker 1: has opened up about having birth trauma surrounding both of
- 10:04Speaker 1: the births of her sons.
- 10:05Speaker 2: Oh, I felt so sorry for her.
- 10:06Speaker 1: She looked incredibly unwell and it seemed like she was
- 10:09Speaker 1: trying anything to get better. She then asked her followers
- 10:12Speaker 1: for some home remedies to help fight off her sickness
- 10:14Speaker 1: and But unfortunately, the following day, she revealed that despite
- 10:18Speaker 1: all of the attempts, she was struck down with the flu.
- 10:21Speaker 1: She wrote on Instagram, went to bed with onions on
- 10:23Speaker 1: my feet, onions next to the bed, ate raw garlic,
- 10:26Speaker 1: took all the vitamins and have still woken up incredibly sick.
- 10:30Speaker 1: I do feel very sorry for her that she was
- 10:31Speaker 1: feeling sick and that this triggered her. But I did
- 10:34Speaker 1: have a laugh because it was like, can you believe it?
- 10:36Speaker 1: I've done all of these things. And it's like, why
- 10:38Speaker 1: didn't you go to the doctor?
- 10:39Speaker 2: Like why would you be trying all these home remedies?
- 10:42Speaker 1: I also saw she went to this very expensive health
- 10:45Speaker 1: food store and said, I will buy everything you tell
- 10:47Speaker 1: me to. And of course she came home with a
- 10:50Speaker 1: huge supply of things because they probably saw dollar signs.
- 10:53Speaker 1: And she had these three large smoothies that she literally
- 10:55Speaker 1: sculled on her Instagram story.
- 10:57Speaker 2: I would hate to think how much they cost. No
- 10:59Speaker 2: wonder she ended up vomiting.
- 11:00Speaker 1: She did say it could have had something to do
- 11:01Speaker 1: with the raw garlic that she also ate. I think
- 11:04Speaker 1: when you're that heavily pregnant and you've had such a
- 11:07Speaker 1: bad experience with your other labours, that you're going to
- 11:10Speaker 1: try and do anything to feel like you've got control
- 11:12Speaker 1: over the situation? Well, she even asked her followers to
- 11:15Speaker 1: pray for her. So she put out what she called
- 11:17Speaker 1: a prayer request asking for, quote, health and healing over
- 11:21Speaker 1: my body and that baby stays in me until I
- 11:23Speaker 1: can fight this off. Please, Lord, just protect this baby
- 11:26Speaker 1: and keep him cooking so I don't give him this
- 11:28Speaker 1: sickness or have to go through labor like this again. Now,
- 11:32Speaker 1: despite saying that she didn't want to give birth, She
- 11:34Speaker 1: then ended up having a bath with Clary sage oil,
- 11:37Speaker 1: which actually can stimulate the uterus to contract and people
- 11:40Speaker 1: normally use it to induce labor. So I'm not sure
- 11:44Speaker 1: if she just wasn't thinking in that moment, but she
- 11:46Speaker 1: has been trying so many remedies to bring.
- 11:49Speaker 2: Forth this labor.
- 11:50Speaker 1: Now, after taking two days off to recover from her cold,
- 11:53Speaker 1: Sarah returned online and this time it was to share
- 11:56Speaker 1: what she called her favorite optical illusion. So she filmed
- 12:00Speaker 1: herself front on in the mirror before turning to the
- 12:02Speaker 1: side to show off her baby bump. She captioned the
- 12:05Speaker 1: reel forever my favorite optical illusion and went on to
- 12:09Speaker 1: share that she was 39 plus two days pregnant. Now,
- 12:12Speaker 1: since the time of recording, this reel has amassed 1.3
- 12:15Speaker 1: million views and has sparked.
- 12:17Speaker 2: A lot of debate.
- 12:18Speaker 1: Yeah, so the majority of the commentary was positive towards Sarah.
- 12:22Speaker 1: Many followers were praising her for her amazing physique. One
- 12:26Speaker 1: person wrote, everyone must be so envious that you have
- 12:29Speaker 1: a waist even when so pregnant. Another person added, your
- 12:32Speaker 1: body is going to bounce right back. You look absolutely incredible.
- 12:37Speaker 1: One person actually passed her bump size off as being
- 12:39Speaker 1: to do with the gender of the baby and So
- 12:41Speaker 1: they wrote, that's a boy bump for you. Sarah seemed
- 12:44Speaker 1: to take offense to that comment, responding, I'd say it's
- 12:47Speaker 1: more a combo of being raging healthy, working out for
- 12:50Speaker 1: the entirety of my pregnancy, following a core strength program,
- 12:54Speaker 1: body and bump, and some genetics sprinkled in, rather than
- 12:57Speaker 1: the gender of my baby. I love how she uses
- 12:59Speaker 1: this moment to plug her fitness program. It's clear that
- 13:03Speaker 1: a lot of people actually felt inadequate after seeing this reel.
- 13:06Speaker 1: One person wrote, this makes me depressed. Happy for you,
- 13:08Speaker 1: but I'm struggling not to hate myself. this is my issue,
- 13:11Speaker 1: not yours. I totally understand where that person is coming
- 13:14Speaker 1: from because when I was pregnant, I didn't feel ultra
- 13:16Speaker 1: comfortable showing off my bump.
- 13:19Speaker 2: There's some people that get these, I want to.
- 13:21Speaker 1: Use inverted commas around it, designer bumps that you see
- 13:24Speaker 1: them everywhere on influencers or models. It's just a little
- 13:27Speaker 1: bump and you can't tell the rest of them is pregnant.
- 13:29Speaker 1: And that doesn't necessarily mean that you're fitter or healthier
- 13:33Speaker 1: than someone. That's just how your body holds onto weight
- 13:36Speaker 1: and And a growing baby. Also, a lot of women
- 13:38Speaker 1: have a lot of fluid in their face, which makes
- 13:40Speaker 1: them feel not like themselves. I've seen on TikTok a
- 13:43Speaker 1: lot of women saying also that they get pregnancy nose
- 13:46Speaker 1: and a lot of their features just look different and
- 13:47Speaker 1: they don't feel like themselves. So I think that that
- 13:50Speaker 1: is why it's particularly jarring to see someone saying, oh.
- 13:52Speaker 2: Look, this is an optical illusion. Everything else about me
- 13:55Speaker 2: looks exactly the same except my little bump.
- 13:57Speaker 1: Yeah, I think I held a lot of fluid in
- 13:59Speaker 1: my face towards the end and I only realized now
- 14:02Speaker 1: that I'm not pregnant.
- 14:03Speaker 2: Looking back at your wedding.
- 14:04Speaker 1: Photos, I was like, my face looks completely different. But
- 14:07Speaker 1: that's just what happens when you get pregnant. You are
- 14:09Speaker 1: creating life inside of your body. You are allowed to
- 14:12Speaker 1: look different. It's just ridiculous. And if you don't look different,
- 14:15Speaker 1: that's also fine. But it does make me feel a
- 14:17Speaker 1: little bit uncomfortable. The fact that Sarah is using these
- 14:20Speaker 1: opportunities to constantly plug her fitness program. It's not a
- 14:23Speaker 1: cheap guide. It costs $ 120. And it seems like at
- 14:27Speaker 1: every opportunity, she is making sure people know, I look
- 14:30Speaker 1: like this pregnant because of this fitness guide. And it
- 14:33Speaker 1: really is playing on people's vulnerabilities because I don't think
- 14:36Speaker 1: that there's a more vulnerable time in a lot of
- 14:39Speaker 1: women's life than when they're pregnant because so much is
- 14:42Speaker 1: happening to them hormonally. They don't look like they once
- 14:45Speaker 1: did and they'll probably try anything to get an ounce
- 14:48Speaker 1: of that back. Yeah, and it does concern me for
- 14:51Speaker 1: what Sarah is going to be like postpartum because last
- 14:54Speaker 1: pregnancy she was accused of pushing bounce back culture. Now
- 14:58Speaker 1: that she actually has her guide out there, I think
- 15:00Speaker 1: it's only gonna be worse. Yeah, I really hope that
- 15:02Speaker 1: we don't see body checks. That is my least favorite
- 15:06Speaker 1: thing to see online. It is never helpful for anyone.
- 15:09Speaker 1: I don't know why people put it out there unless
- 15:12Speaker 1: it's a flex for them. Well, it is only a
- 15:14Speaker 1: matter of days before she has this baby, if not today.
- 15:18Speaker 1: Do you think she's gonna update her followers? My feeling
- 15:20Speaker 1: is that she'll do a bit of a cryptic update
- 15:23Speaker 1: like she did when she was in labor with Malachi.
- 15:25Speaker 1: So from memory, she took a photo online in the car.
- 15:28Speaker 1: I think it was very late at the time and
- 15:29Speaker 1: they were heading into the hospital and she did a
- 15:31Speaker 1: couple of emojis referencing clues to Malachi's name. I think
- 15:35Speaker 1: we'll get something similar to that. We might get a
- 15:38Speaker 1: few photos of her in labor, but she will keep
- 15:41Speaker 1: a lot of it for her YouTube channel, I think,
- 15:43Speaker 1: and also TikTok.
- 15:44Speaker 2: I love how you say it's cryptic. Like she was
- 15:46Speaker 2: literally on the way to the hospital. It's not ultra cryptic. Well,
- 15:49Speaker 2: it was cryptic in the sense of she was still
- 15:50Speaker 2: trying to tease about his name. Oh, I see. I
- 15:53Speaker 2: think differently.
- 15:53Speaker 1: I think that because this is her last pregnancy and
- 15:56Speaker 1: she's really trying to crack TikTok, I think that she's
- 15:59Speaker 1: going to post live updates, a little bit how Indy
- 16:02Speaker 1: Clinton did. So Indy Clinton was popping TikToks up as
- 16:05Speaker 1: she was at the hospital and in labor. I think
- 16:09Speaker 1: Sarah is going to want to copy that.
- 16:11Speaker 2: I just freaking hope that this process helps me.
- 16:15Speaker 1: Over the weekend, Steph Claire Smith revealed she would be
- 16:18Speaker 1: sharing a life update on her latest podcast episode, which
- 16:21Speaker 1: would air on Monday. Now, she broke the news first
- 16:24Speaker 1: to her broadcast channel before sharing this statement on her
- 16:27Speaker 1: Instagram story on Sunday. She wrote, so tomorrow on the
- 16:31Speaker 1: kick pod, I'll be sharing something relatively fresh, but really
- 16:34Speaker 1: important to me. It's something I've been working through for
- 16:37Speaker 1: quite some time now, and in ways the journey's only
- 16:39Speaker 1: just begun. I'd really appreciate you listening with kindness as
- 16:43Speaker 1: it's something I've been nervous to share.
- 16:45Speaker 2: All my love, kiss, kiss, kiss.
- 16:47Speaker 1: As soon as I saw this, I was like, what
- 16:49Speaker 1: is going on? This must be a huge life update.
- 16:52Speaker 1: And it did lead to a lot of speculation and
- 16:54Speaker 1: theories online. The most popular theory was that Steph and
- 16:58Speaker 1: her husband, Josh, were breaking up. Now, I knew this
- 17:00Speaker 1: wasn't true because Steph has been posting with him as normal.
- 17:03Speaker 1: They're actually away on a weekend together. I actually thought
- 17:06Speaker 1: there could have been some validity to those theories, particularly
- 17:09Speaker 1: because Josh was holidaying with his friends in Europe without
- 17:13Speaker 1: Steph just a couple of weeks ago. And the only
- 17:15Speaker 1: times I saw Josh pop up on Steph's Instagram story
- 17:18Speaker 1: were when they were out and about with Harvey. And
- 17:20Speaker 1: I thought, well, perhaps they're just being amicable and showing
- 17:23Speaker 1: that they're joint parenting. I love that they're parents. And
- 17:26Speaker 1: so they're going to be with their child all the time.
- 17:27Speaker 1: But you thought that. What?
- 17:30Speaker 2: Yeah, but they're parents. Of course, they're going to be
- 17:31Speaker 2: out with their child all the time.
- 17:32Speaker 1: Yeah, but it's not like we were seeing content of
- 17:34Speaker 1: them at home together or them going out on dates
- 17:37Speaker 1: or anything like that. I know it's difficult when you
- 17:39Speaker 1: have a child, but I thought that there could be
- 17:42Speaker 1: some truth to it, particularly... in the way that she
- 17:44Speaker 1: let in that she was very nervous about and it's
- 17:46Speaker 1: something that she's been working through. The other theory was
- 17:49Speaker 1: that she could be opening up about fertility issues or
- 17:52Speaker 1: even a health scare. Now, this came off the back
- 17:54Speaker 1: of Steph sharing a post of her in the car
- 17:58Speaker 1: saying that there was a lot going on in her
- 17:59Speaker 1: life and you never know what's going on behind the scenes.
- 18:02Speaker 1: She looked quite sad in the photo and this has
- 18:04Speaker 1: been worrying a lot of her followers. Yeah, in the post,
- 18:07Speaker 1: she said, there's a lot happening behind the scenes at
- 18:10Speaker 1: the moment, things bringing a multitude of emotions on.
- 18:13Speaker 2: But I'm okay.
- 18:14Speaker 1: So grateful for my beautiful friends and family. Teared up
- 18:17Speaker 1: today thinking about it. You never know what someone's got
- 18:19Speaker 1: going on.
- 18:20Speaker 2: Just remember that.
- 18:21Speaker 1: And if you have got something at the moment, lean
- 18:24Speaker 1: on your loved ones, give them the opportunity to be
- 18:26Speaker 1: there for you. Because I know a lot of us
- 18:28Speaker 1: feel like we need to figure it out on our own,
- 18:30Speaker 1: but you don't.
- 18:31Speaker 2: Lots of love. Hope your weekend is filled with joy.
- 18:33Speaker 1: To me, I was like, oh my God, there is
- 18:35Speaker 1: something drastic going on in her life.
- 18:38Speaker 2: And I felt a lot of sympathy for her.
- 18:40Speaker 1: Yeah. Well, someone actually hit the nail on the head
- 18:43Speaker 1: in our Facebook group. They said, watch, it will be
- 18:45Speaker 1: something totally underwhelming again. Now this is in reference to
- 18:48Speaker 1: Kik's promo about their concierge service. Yeah. And that's the
- 18:52Speaker 1: issue when you really do breadcrumb information like this and
- 18:55Speaker 1: hype it up in order for people to consume something.
- 18:59Speaker 1: So in this case, it's clear that Steph and Laura
- 19:01Speaker 1: wanted their audience to all tune into this episode. And
- 19:05Speaker 1: in the episode, Steph revealed that she has ADHD. Let's
- 19:09Speaker 1: throw to some of what she said.
- 19:11Speaker 2: I have a bit of a life update for everyone.
- 19:13Speaker 3: For me, I've spent the whole last decade of my
- 19:16Speaker 3: life publicly online and I've always been really open about
- 19:19Speaker 3: what's going on in my life. And I just feel
- 19:21Speaker 3: like with this, it's been something that's been taking up
- 19:24Speaker 3: a lot of my mental capacity. Just the other week,
- 19:26Speaker 3: I was diagnosed with ADHD. It was probably about over
- 19:28Speaker 3: a year ago now where I started to get curious
- 19:31Speaker 3: about it.
- 19:31Speaker 1: Now, in terms of making this announcement, Steph said it
- 19:34Speaker 1: felt inauthentic not to share the news as she's been
- 19:36Speaker 1: sharing her life online for 10 years now. And then
- 19:39Speaker 1: she went on to speak about why she got assessed
- 19:42Speaker 1: and also how she went about it, as well as
- 19:44Speaker 1: how she felt during the process. Now, Steph said that
- 19:47Speaker 1: she expected to cop criticism and also understand support. And
- 19:51Speaker 1: she said that she actually shared the news to help others. Look,
- 19:54Speaker 1: I am all for Steph telling her story about her diagnosis.
- 19:59Speaker 1: And I agree, it probably will help others who maybe
- 20:02Speaker 1: feel alone. And it is a serious thing. What I
- 20:05Speaker 1: take issue with though, is breadcrumbing this information and trying
- 20:09Speaker 1: to hype it up and clickbait it. That's what I
- 20:11Speaker 1: don't feel comfortable with. Yeah, I think it's very commendable
- 20:14Speaker 1: for Steph to open up about her diagnosis, but I
- 20:17Speaker 1: also think it would have been a lot more powerful
- 20:19Speaker 1: if she didn't tease it for clickbait, especially when there
- 20:22Speaker 1: have been so many high profile women talking openly about
- 20:26Speaker 1: having ADHD.
- 20:27Speaker 2: Yeah, it's been.
- 20:28Speaker 1: Something we've seen spoken about, particularly about women's experiences over
- 20:32Speaker 1: the past two years. even to the point where there's
- 20:34Speaker 1: been a lot of jokes and ridicule on TikTok that
- 20:37Speaker 1: everyone thinks that they have ADHD because it seems to
- 20:39Speaker 1: be popular at the moment.
- 20:41Speaker 2: So maybe that's where Steph's hesitation and worry came from.
- 20:44Speaker 1: She didn't want people to feel like she was jumping
- 20:47Speaker 1: on some sort of trend, which I hate to call
- 20:48Speaker 1: it a trend because it's not.
- 20:49Speaker 2: Well, she did talk about that on her stories afterwards.
- 20:52Speaker 1: So she said she had a bit of an oversharing hangover,
- 20:56Speaker 1: but it really seemed to rile her up because she
- 20:59Speaker 1: did cop negativity. So One person wrote, oh, spare me.
- 21:02Speaker 1: Everyone has ADHD these days.
- 21:04Speaker 2: It's a scale.
- 21:05Speaker 1: Chase a diagnosis and you'll find it. Now that comment
- 21:08Speaker 1: had 64 likes. Someone else wrote, does actually every member
- 21:11Speaker 1: of the population have it? As I've never heard of
- 21:14Speaker 1: anyone not diagnosed with it when being tested. Ever since
- 21:17Speaker 1: the kick pod took a new direction, Steph and Laura
- 21:20Speaker 1: have opened themselves up to a lot more criticism because
- 21:23Speaker 1: a lot of the material and information they share about
- 21:26Speaker 1: their lives now is very clickbaity. Every time I see
- 21:31Speaker 1: a reel promoting their podcast, they are talking about very
- 21:35Speaker 1: personal details, either about their sex life or controversial arguments
- 21:40Speaker 1: with their partners. Yeah, well, when I tuned into this episode,
- 21:43Speaker 1: the first thing Laura shared with everyone was that she
- 21:45Speaker 1: had thrush. And then she went into this very personal
- 21:49Speaker 1: conversation that she and her husband Dalton had about how
- 21:52Speaker 1: he had asked if they could have sex that day.
- 21:55Speaker 1: And she said, no, she had thrush. And then he said, oh,
- 21:58Speaker 1: what about your mouth? And then she said, I've got
- 22:00Speaker 1: a cold sore. And then he said, what about your hand?
- 22:02Speaker 1: And then they started laughing about how hand jobs seem
- 22:05Speaker 1: very high school. I was actually blown away. And I'm
- 22:09Speaker 1: not trying to shame Laura for talking about her sex life.
- 22:12Speaker 1: I think it's great that people are open about their
- 22:14Speaker 1: sex life. But surely there is a line when it
- 22:15Speaker 1: comes to sharing those types of details about a conversation
- 22:18Speaker 1: that you've had with your husband. I think particularly because
- 22:21Speaker 1: you don't have any of the tone of that conversation,
- 22:23Speaker 1: because that could be taken out of context.
- 22:25Speaker 2: And look particularly bad upon him.
- 22:28Speaker 1: Like it sounded like he was really pushing for it
- 22:30Speaker 1: when she was clearly saying no. Yeah, it made me
- 22:31Speaker 1: feel uncomfortable because yeah, there definitely wasn't much context given.
- 22:35Speaker 1: And we have spoken about this previously, but the way
- 22:39Speaker 1: that Laura speaks about her husband isn't really in a
- 22:41Speaker 1: very glowing light. Like I would not be impressed if
- 22:43Speaker 1: I was Dalton, particularly the information that she shares about
- 22:46Speaker 1: their sex life.
- 22:47Speaker 2: Yeah, it's almost like they're selling their souls for this podcast.
- 22:50Speaker 1: And I kind of don't understand it because they already
- 22:52Speaker 1: have an absolutely flourishing business Their Kick app is fantastic.
- 22:57Speaker 1: I have been using it for five years, I think
- 22:59Speaker 1: even longer than that. They also have this amazing line
- 23:02Speaker 1: of products in Woolworths. They're both huge influencers in their
- 23:05Speaker 1: own right, but I feel like they are diluting their
- 23:07Speaker 1: brand by putting out this podcast.
- 23:10Speaker 2: I mean, it must be making them enough money for
- 23:12Speaker 2: them to do it. I'm the executive creative director, chief
- 23:16Speaker 2: buyer and lifestyle coordinator. It's a huge responsibility.
- 23:20Speaker 3: I'm very important.
- 23:22Speaker 1: Let's get into our highs and lows of the week.
- 23:24Speaker 1: My high and low are actually intertwined. So my best,
- 23:27Speaker 1: of course, is returning to the podcast for maternity leave.
- 23:31Speaker 1: It's hard to get my head around the fact that
- 23:33Speaker 1: it's been 18 weeks. It feels like I've never left.
- 23:36Speaker 1: And then also it feels like I've had this whole
- 23:38Speaker 1: other life. Ironically, you can probably hear Jack crying in
- 23:41Speaker 1: the background because we're recording from my house. So I
- 23:44Speaker 1: am at the moment trying to balance motherhood and being
- 23:47Speaker 1: back on the podcast. And that's why it's my low
- 23:50Speaker 1: as well, because I do miss Jack when I'm not
- 23:52Speaker 1: around him. We had a babysitter the other day. Thank you, mom,
- 23:55Speaker 1: for looking after him. And it was so sad and
- 23:57Speaker 1: it was so nice to come home to him and
- 23:59Speaker 1: see him. And I feel so lucky that I've got
- 24:01Speaker 1: the flexibility where I can work during his nap time
- 24:04Speaker 1: or when Reese is home or if we've got a babysitter.
- 24:07Speaker 1: But it is just so sad to leave him when
- 24:09Speaker 1: I have to go to work. Yeah, I feel like
- 24:10Speaker 1: we've got a bit of a co-host happening in the
- 24:12Speaker 1: background with his cute little crying. But it is really
- 24:15Speaker 1: nice to have you back on the show. I'm going
- 24:17Speaker 1: to get into my high of the week. And it
- 24:18Speaker 1: has been discovering an incredible Christmas appeal, which is called
- 24:22Speaker 1: It's In The Bag. And it's run by a charity
- 24:25Speaker 1: called Share the Dignity Australia. And it encourages people to
- 24:28Speaker 1: put together bags filled with essential items and also some
- 24:32Speaker 1: luxury items for women and girls who are spending their
- 24:35Speaker 1: Christmas in a domestic violence refuge or a homeless shelter.
- 24:39Speaker 1: My husband's auntie has been making bags for this charity
- 24:42Speaker 1: for quite some time now, and it's just such a
- 24:44Speaker 1: beautiful thing to do to make someone else's Christmas morning
- 24:47Speaker 1: a little bit brighter. It's really easy to get involved,
- 24:50Speaker 1: and you can either put together an adult, teen, or
- 24:53Speaker 1: mum and bub bag. They do ask for the bags
- 24:56Speaker 1: to be filled with essential items, and then the rest
- 24:58Speaker 1: is up to you. And once you've made your bag,
- 25:00Speaker 1: you can then easily drop it off at your local
- 25:02Speaker 1: Bunnings store between the 15th of November and the 1st
- 25:05Speaker 1: of December. I know everyone might not be in the
- 25:08Speaker 1: position to do so, but if you are, I would
- 25:10Speaker 1: highly recommend getting involved because the charity was down 100,000
- 25:15Speaker 1: bags last year and they did not meet the requests
- 25:18Speaker 1: of those who needed them.
- 25:19Speaker 2: So I think we should all try and get behind them.
- 25:21Speaker 1: My low of the week, and I think that this
- 25:23Speaker 1: will be a low shared by many others, is is
- 25:26Speaker 1: Liam Payne's tragic passing. We spoke on Tuesday's episode in
- 25:30Speaker 1: depth about what happened and our complex feelings towards it.
- 25:35Speaker 1: But I just still can't shake the feeling of being sad.
- 25:38Speaker 1: I've been listening to a lot of One Direction in
- 25:39Speaker 1: the car, which has been bringing me a bit of
- 25:42Speaker 1: happiness and joy, particularly because Liam sings so many of
- 25:46Speaker 1: the verses. And I think that all of us are
- 25:48Speaker 1: holding a bit of a heavy heart this week because
- 25:51Speaker 1: of it. Now that is all we have time for today.
- 25:53Speaker 1: Thank you so much for joining us for this episode.
- 25:56Speaker 1: If you have enjoyed it, could you please make sure
- 25:58Speaker 1: you are subscribed on Apple Podcast and also Spotify.
