- 1:46of it? This morning, having a big celebration out there, Frontier Week.
- 1:49So what do you want from me? A beard might help you get
- 1:53out a growing one, Johnny? And how about oh sure? And my
- 1:57heart is tied up in a bedroom? Now? All about that? From
- 2:00what I can gather, Cooper's been was just a sweepy little western town dying
- 2:05on his feet. That is until last week. So what happened last week?
- 2:07A publicity man named Jill Williams organized this Frontier Week to wakes the town
- 2:13up. I guess somebody out there doesn't like me wakes up? What do
- 2:15you mean? Oh, looks like somebody is trying to put Bill Williams to
- 2:19sleep a hard way. I'll mean right over. Bob Bailey. In the
- 2:30Exciting Adventures of the Man with the Action Packed Expense Accounts, America's Fabulous Freelance
- 2:36insurance investigator yours Curley Johnny Dollars, and I'll act one of yours Tooley Johnny
- 2:47Dollar. Expense account submitted by special Investigator Johnny Dollar that the Home Office Universal
- 3:06Adjustment Girl, Hertford, Connecticut. Following is an account of expenses encourage during
- 3:09my investigation. Is the Killer's Brand Matter expense account out of one a dollar
- 3:19twenty camp fare from my apartment at the Office of Universal Adjustment Bureau. Fred
- 3:23mc cracken was waiting for me. Don't too much to go on, actually,
- 3:27Johnny, but I figure it's worth your taking a trip out to Cooper's
- 3:29Ben, as he was once one of the companies we represented. A testy
- 3:32policy on Bill Williams's life. Who is this Bill Williams? What's he doing
- 3:36a little of this? Little of that? I guess sort of a fly
- 3:38by night type freelance publicity, that sort of thing. You suggested over the
- 3:43phone that there'd been an attempt on his life out there. Well, at
- 3:45least somebody took a shot at him. All you have any idea? Who
- 3:47No, that's what I want you to find out. Should have been an
- 3:52accident, pat Maybe somebody got carried away during a two o'clock in the morning,
- 3:55Johnny, even during Frontier week people and Cooper's Ben. Don't stay up
- 3:59that fleet. Okay, what do I find william There's only one hotel.
- 4:02You look for him there, and Johnny, huh, watch yourself. Some
- 4:06of those characters out there can shoot pretty straight, and one of them is
- 4:10pretty riled up about them, and shoot straight he Miss Williams didn't. Oh
- 4:13yeah, the first time expense account at him two one hundred and eighty seven
- 4:19dollars fifty cents cincinnentos in transportation by plane and a rended car to Cooper's ben
- 4:24Nevada. The town was baking in the sun when I arrived in the middle
- 4:28of the afternoons a time. From the fact that there were cars parked in
- 4:30the main street instead of a string of horses, the place could have easily
- 4:33passed as a set for a Western movie. A saloon, a general store,
- 4:38one weather beaten hotel or works. I kept wanting to go around behind
- 4:41the buildings to see if they were real. It was even a big horse
- 4:45drop in front of the hotel. I stopped for a moment to take a
- 4:47look at it, and that was my first mistake. Suddenly I heard a
- 4:50car trying it out on. Get it, look at him? A real
- 4:55dum way off. This is kids stock. What do your main way?
- 4:58Off of him? You know the front? Here we go, Hey,
- 5:00look look what's this all about. I'm mister off with your shirt. My
- 5:02shirt took a minute, partner. Anybody on the street from out of ten
- 5:06gallon hacker in Frontier Week. Get chunk in the horse Tross. Oh look,
- 5:11I just got into town. How am I supposed to know the rules?
- 5:13Well, this is one good way of finding them out. Stay.
- 5:15Anybody want to tell me a ten gallon hack? Click? Boy, buddy,
- 5:19Well he's got a sense of humor. Anyway, howant I help you
- 5:23off with your shirt? Siguer? Okay, okay, go hick down.
- 5:27Just take it easy, partner, take it in. Welcome to Frontier Week.
- 5:34I heard him, all, thanks, thanks a lot. I him
- 5:43pretty fifty cents replacing the three buttons on my shirt. I've been a pond.
- 5:47Farewell to the Horsetross committee. I went to the hotel to find Bill
- 5:50Williams, the publicity man. He wasn't there at the moment, but the
- 5:54clerk told me I might find him at the newspaper office that was three doors
- 5:57down the street. The Cooper has been sent in a Bill Williams wasn't there,
- 6:01but for the moment I didn't miss him at all. Oh, hello,
- 6:09well hi, you must be miss Cooper's been Frontierweek? Ha ha,
- 6:15you run the paper wrong again. I just work here. I'm not doing
- 6:17very well so far, am I? Oh? I don't know. Don't
- 6:20give up. Oh, I won't. My name's Johnny Dollar. Lois Johnny.
- 6:26Well, I'm looking for a guy named Bill Williams. Lewis you know
- 6:29him? Yeah, I know him. Where can I find him? Well,
- 6:32this is a good at place, Donny. You ought to be here
- 6:34soon. Last I saw him, he was, said Kirby. Kirby,
- 6:38the editor of this paper. The two of them are all wrapped up in
- 6:41further plans for glorious Frontier Week. I gather Frontier Week doesn't appeal to you.
- 6:46It's a too big idea, like everything else about this time. Oh,
- 6:50it's said, this is Johnny Dollar, said Kirby. Well, thanks,
- 6:55but we've already met. Mister Kirby was one of the boys who helped
- 6:58me take a swim in a horse trap a couple minutes ago. All in
- 7:00fun, mister Dollar part of Frontier Week. Yeah, sure, Kervy,
- 7:04I'm looking for Bill Williams. Oh, he's out making some final arrangements for
- 7:09the rodeo this afternoon. He ought to be back in a few minutes.
- 7:11Okay, any place I can get a cup of coffee while I'm waiting,
- 7:14Oh sure, four doors down the streets. Can't miss it. I'll tell
- 7:16you where it is. Dam fine, thanks, I thought you had some
- 7:21work to get out of laws in a key. You don't mind, do
- 7:26you say? Oh? No, of course not. I'll take your time.
- 7:35As we left, I get sent an undercurrence between Lois and Fred Chrevy,
- 7:39and I can see this point. I don't facto undercurrent. With two
- 7:43miles to work, the lowest id him three twenty cents coffee for low us
- 7:46to me. You're going to be in town long, Johnny? All depends
- 7:51how long this frontier week last? This is the last day, Oh frodeo
- 7:56this afternoon dance to night that ended, then goes back to sleep. Huh,
- 8:01probably I won't be here to watch it though. Oh are you going
- 8:05away as far away as I can get for good? Well? How about
- 8:11your job? You mean the pat That's a job I think I can get
- 8:15along without it. How about the editory? He get along without you?
- 8:18Red Kirby, Sure, why not? I don't know, I thought he.
- 8:24I've been looking for you having a cup of coffee. Obviously. This
- 8:26is Johnny Dollar Dan Dan Bigger's Johnny Lance. Do I look low? It's
- 8:31about the dance tonight? What time will I pick you up. Oh,
- 8:35I don't know about the dance. Then I don't know if I'm going or
- 8:37not. We're gonna go, Lois, I said, we're gonna go.
- 8:41Oh for Heaven's say, thanks for the coffee, Lors. You know,
- 8:46Biggs, if you don't mind my singing? So that approach doesn't seem to
- 8:50go over so well with her. Yeah, well I do mind your saying,
- 8:54so I don't need any advice from you. Okay, And just for
- 8:56the record, Lows and iron Gate congratulates. Don't get funny with me.
- 9:01Oh no, easy, figure, simmer down, you simmer down, dollars,
- 9:03What do you mean? I mean? Stay away from Lowis? Are
- 9:05you kidding? So I brought her a cup of coffee? Anything wrong with
- 9:07that? You hurt me? Stay away from her. One thing about Mois,
- 9:16he sure had the knack of stirring people up. The news that she
- 9:18was engaged the biggest. It was quite a surprise, though, and I
- 9:20wondered if she was as eager about it as he was. If so,
- 9:24she didn't show it. But all of this wasn't getting my job done,
- 9:28which was to find out who made the attempt on Phill Williams's life. I
- 9:31went back to the newspaper office, and pretty soon he came in. He
- 9:33turned out to be the gent who'd supervised my dunking and my horse job.
- 9:37Well, you're probably not feeling very kindly toward me at the moment, dollars,
- 9:41why not you come all the way out here to protect me and get
- 9:45thrown in the trough right off to that? I didn't know you were,
- 9:48But you better get yourself at ten gallon hats. That won't happen again.
- 9:50Don't worry, I'm going to as I understand that, Williams, this Frontier
- 9:54Week was your idea. Yeah, yeah, I was diving through it on
- 9:58my way to Frisco a few weeks ago. The time was dead on its
- 10:00feet, but I could see the possibilities of waking it up. So I
- 10:03cooked up this teame. The town went for it. How come you were
- 10:05so interested in waking the town up for the dough? What else? I
- 10:09get ten percent of the gross on the rodeo dance and other celebrations. I
- 10:13forget to get close to one thousand out of it, and frankly I can
- 10:16use the money. I see. Well, how about this attempt on your
- 10:18life? Come on, I'm back. I'll show you. Show me what
- 10:22my car? There it is regulated, the windshields a bullet hole. How
- 10:33did it happen? I was driving along the road just outside of town the
- 10:37other night, and all of a sudden, why I am all and I
- 10:39got a pretty good idea. Who did it? Oh the rancher Dan Biggers?
- 10:43Oh why I smiled at Lloyds. Oh, now, look touchy as
- 10:46big as it is about laws, that's not enough reasons. Oh wait,
- 10:50wait she smiled back at me. Is that all it was to it?
- 10:54Of course it was you think I'm crazy or something that's trigger happy? Big
- 10:56As It's so jealous of it. He can't see straight, but enough to
- 11:00get mixed up in anything like that. Yeah, he's jealous, all right.
- 11:03Lawis and I worked together at the newspaper office on some of the publicity
- 11:07for Frontier Week. Biggers didn't like that. Speaking of the newspaper, you
- 11:09know the editor very well, with Fred Kirby and Mattie. When I first
- 11:13came here is. Oh, why he's been keeping an eye on us through
- 11:16the window ever since we've been standing here. Oh do you think he might
- 11:20be interested in Lowis? It wouldn't surprise me. He makes that job of
- 11:24hers on the paper pretty easy. For after all, it wouldn't be hard
- 11:26to be interested in Lloyd. No, no, I'm sure it wouldn't.
- 11:30Well, you'd better quit driving around the roads at night with him. Don't
- 11:33worry. Ever since that happened, I've been staying right here in town at
- 11:35night with a bright lights. I think I'm home free now. Anyway,
- 11:39yeh, the dance tonight winds up Frontier week tomorrow noon, I get my
- 11:43shair of the doughnut. I'm leaving. Lois mentioned something about leaving town then.
- 11:46Yeah, she used to make noises about leaving when we were working together.
- 11:50I doubt if she means it, though. I think he's just trying
- 11:52to get Biggers riled up. That isn't hard way, man. Remember now,
- 11:56she said it once in the office when Fred Kirby was around. What
- 12:00was his reaction. He didn't say anything at all, but he gave her
- 12:03a real funny look. I see, well, I got to go make
- 12:07the final arrangements for the dance night. You're gonna be there, Oh yeah,
- 12:09yeah. In the meantime, when you just better keep your eyes open.
- 12:11Don't worry. Since that attempt on my life. I've sprouted eyes in
- 12:13the back of my head. Oh and speaking of head, yeah, you
- 12:16better get yourself a ten gallon hat. Very good advice. I had no
- 12:28desire to get dunked again. I started across the street toward the Tennol store
- 12:31and then realized my mistake. There was the reception committee again at the horse
- 12:35stop. I had to get to that store off fast. I'll know played
- 12:39it too kerry tellers. Oh well, expense item six fifteen bucks for a
- 12:48two late ten gallon hat. The dance was in full swing when I got
- 12:58there. I didn't see Lois to figure it looks like he didn't get that
- 13:01date after all. Pretty too nice. Spotted Williams hear the bandstand. When
- 13:05he saw me, he came over the proud Dollar. There are more people
- 13:09in Cooper's Spend the night than ever heard of the place before Frontier week.
- 13:11Man, I'm really going to cry. I stayed around a while, watching
- 13:18Williams happily counting noses and adding up his ten percent. Then I went back
- 13:22to the hotel. There was a message there from Lowis. She wanted to
- 13:26see me. This I didn't get, but she left word it was important.
- 13:30She's also left directions for getting to her house. So I drove off.
- 13:33It was outside of town on a back row. The lights were on,
- 13:41but nobody answered my not I waited a while and tried the door.
- 13:50There was a fire burning in the fireplace, and the room looked very cozy,
- 13:54all except for one thing. Lois. She was lying in front of
- 13:58the heart, and she was very deaf. Act two of yours, two
- 14:18eat Johnny Dollar in a moment. For a long time, people have been
- 14:20saying that the earth is shrinking because transportation is getting faster and faster. And
- 14:26because this is true, people are getting closer too. Today, our neighbors
- 14:31are not only the ones who live next door to us, they're all over
- 14:35the world. It is axiomatic that one should help his neighbors. But Americans
- 14:41have gone a step further. In addition to individuals helping individuals, now many
- 14:46American cities help many other cities through the sister City programs. Now perhaps you've
- 14:52heard how it works. If not, here's an example or two. In
- 14:56the fall of nineteen fifty nine, a large area of Nagoya, Japan,
- 15:01was struck by a devastating typhoon. Her sister city, Los Angeles, California,
- 15:07sent tons of relief materials to Nagoya by way of an Air Force plane
- 15:11headed for the area. The Marines and the Navy rendered vital emergency aid during
- 15:16the disaster. When earthquakes shook Villa del mar Chile, during the summer of
- 15:22nineteen sixty, her sister city Sasalito, California, sent hundreds of dollars worth
- 15:28of relief materials to help out. Another case in points, the school children
- 15:33of Clovis, New Mexico, sent a number of cultural exchange packages to students
- 15:39in their sister city of Adana, Turkey. There are hundreds of such examples,
- 15:45because there are hundreds of sister cities. By using this means of diplomacy,
- 15:50friendship and understanding have increased throughout the world and paved the way for permanent
- 15:56freedom, the right of all men every where. And how act two of
- 16:02yours, truly, Jolly Dollar and the Killer's brand better. What was dead
- 16:15lying on the floor of a living room in front of the fireplace. There
- 16:18was a popa near her hands that had been pulled out of the fire and
- 16:22scorched the ruck. At first, that's what I thought she'd been hit with.
- 16:26Then I took her clothes to him and see she stuck her head on
- 16:27the heart. There were signs of a struggle in the Romans. Then suddenly
- 16:32I heard a noise outside. I ducked into the next room on the side
- 16:36door and eased outside. I listened nothing. Then I heard the car.
- 16:45By the time I got around in front of the house, it was just
- 16:48disappearing around the bend in the road, running without lights. It looked like
- 16:51a station wagon, but that's about all I could make out. I went
- 16:53back into the house and put in the call to the sheriff. He arrived
- 16:56about twenty minutes later. It looks like there was a fight. She got
- 17:02thrown down, hit her head on the hut. Yeah, that's the way
- 17:03I started him. Now that size you up for a minute, Dallas me.
- 17:07Mine's telling me what you were doing here tonight. I don't know.
- 17:11Come on, come on, no, I mean it. Lois left a
- 17:15message at my hotel if you wanted to see me. You don't know what
- 17:17about? No, accept it's a good best that's killing ties in somehow with
- 17:21that attempt on Bill William's life. Welliams thinks it was Dan Biggers took that
- 17:25shot at him. Yeah, that's right, it could be. Dan's always
- 17:27been awful jealous. I had trouble with him once, fool for the same
- 17:30reason. A month ago he beat up a guy pretty bad and I kind
- 17:34of lost. Yeah, he seems the guy had asked Lois for a date,
- 17:37So it was Lewis never discouraged guys asking either. Hey, look sheriff.
- 17:41Lois told me earlier today that she was planning to leave town tomorrow.
- 17:45Now if Dan Bigger has learned about that, Yeah, come on, we
- 17:51better drive out his ranch and never talk with him. Uh, there's the
- 18:06gate Johnny Ranch houses up on the ride. Yeah, no lights on up
- 18:15there. Do you think Dan might have cleared out, came from that clump
- 18:22and brush over there right where you are, suff I've got your color.
- 18:26I don't be a fool. Dan. You drop that gun and come out
- 18:29of there and to take me in. Huh. I'm not going just now,
- 18:33Jeff. Look, Dan, I'm gonna find out who to take care
- 18:37of me, and you can touch me earlier. Watch very interesting. You
- 18:41should know about the killing already, Dan. I can think that one reason
- 18:45you might again, it was in time when the call came in that he
- 18:51told me about it. I figure it differently. Dan, you found out
- 18:55Lois is gonna leave town tomorrow. Leave, You're crazy. That's what she
- 18:59told me. He'd never do that. You'll try to stop her. She
- 19:03grabbed a poker and swung at you. You threw it down on my heart.
- 19:06I said, lie, you hear me, Dan, you're acting like
- 19:07a fool. Oh, now give me that gun. I'm not thrumming in
- 19:14now, Geff, I gotta put these shots where I want to. Don't
- 19:18make me put him in you. Okay, Dan, you got to drop
- 19:22on us now, But I'm coming back. I'm gonna take you one way
- 19:26or another. You know, Sheriff, I can't help any kind of story.
- 19:37But Dan, Yeah, he always did have a knock in his drain
- 19:40where Louis was concerned. You really think he killed him? I don't know.
- 19:44Dan's pretty smart sometimes, rutine. He was just giving us. This
- 19:48might have been a cover, Sheriff. You happen to know if Dan drives
- 19:52the station wagon he drives are picked up around town mostly and uh, he's
- 19:56got a coop too, but no season wagon. Why that's what I spotted
- 20:00pulling away from lord's house. He didn't get the license numbers. No,
- 20:03it was running without lights. Not much help Jenny. A lot of station
- 20:07wagons. In the start of the company, I spent account out of eight
- 20:18one dollar two drinks from me while I tried to put some pizza together.
- 20:22However much I shifted them around, they still seemed to add up to Dan
- 20:25Biggers. Somehow I wasn't convicted, but he was the killer. Why hadn't
- 20:30he taken off? Of course, maybe he figured he couldn't very well leave
- 20:33his rank. So I went round and round again and ended up nowhere.
- 20:37I started singing some other possibilities. Bill Williams, for instance, I'd seen
- 20:41him at the dance, but he could have left for half an hour and
- 20:45nobody'd have missed him in the crowd. But why I couldn't figure any motive
- 20:49for him? And then I thought of Fred Kirby. He edited, Yeah,
- 20:53he might be worth talking to him. So I went to the newspaper
- 20:56office. Kirby and Bill Williams. Were there any idea who killed her?
- 21:00Jenny? I don't know, Williams. That's what I want to talk to
- 21:03the two of you about. I'll bet anything it was Dan Biggers. What
- 21:07makes you so sure, Kirby, you saw him around loss, you know
- 21:11the way he was question is if he did it? Why Llis said she
- 21:15was leaving. Maybe he couldn't stand the idea. He claims he didn't know
- 21:18she was planning to leave you. That's a lie. I heard her tell
- 21:21him once, right here in this office. You know, it's quite a
- 21:23coincidence. But Lois was going to leave town tomorrow, Williams, So were
- 21:29you. You weren't, by any chance going to leave together, now were
- 21:33you? Now? Look, gee, man, I told you there was
- 21:34nothing between us. Do you think I'm a jerk to go fooling around with
- 21:37her? Knowing what Biggers was like? Sure, she kidded me about what
- 21:41was it, Kirby hitching the ride to Frisco with me? Yeah? Here
- 21:45in the office once, William's just laughed off and after allow us two of
- 21:48us. Hey, wait a minute, if Figures happened to hear about it,
- 21:52Yeah, maybe no, Dollar, I was smart enough not to get
- 21:56involved with it. Matter of fact, I guess I'm one of the few
- 21:59guys in time you can make that state. Hey, you don't have to
- 22:00talk that way about her. I'm sorry I guess I'm tired. O you
- 22:04turn in. You see in the Morney dollar you'll be around huh yeah,
- 22:08to pick up my money. You know, Kirby, you're trying pretty hard
- 22:15to pend this on Dan Bigure's why because I think he did it. He
- 22:18didn't want to blow us to leave if someone else didn't want it to leave
- 22:22either. Woo you what you've been carrying the torch? Beelow? It's quite
- 22:26a while, haven't you. What's that got to do with it? What
- 22:29business is it of yours? I think it all times in well, I
- 22:32didn't kill her. If that's what you're saying. Drive a station wagon,
- 22:34don't you? After I discovered her body, I spotted the station wagon leaving
- 22:40her house. A lot of guys drive station wagons around here. I wasn't
- 22:42near her place. I didn't use the wagon at all tonight, you're aling,
- 22:45I'll look tiring. Open up, Kurby, Okay, Doll. I
- 22:52drove out to her place to try to talk her out of leave it go
- 22:56on. That's all there is. I got there, eye, changed my
- 22:59mind and came back to town. I didn't go inside dollar. I didn't
- 23:03kill her, I swear it. I called the sheriff, and he took
- 23:12Kirby in for further question. But by morning he hadn't changed his story.
- 23:18Oh, he admitted being is the scene of the murder, but that's all
- 23:21he'd admit. He was still a big question mark and we were still nowhere.
- 23:26The sheriff went out the biggest ranch again. I'm hoping Dan would give
- 23:29himself up peaceable if he knew Kirby was in customer. I had a cup
- 23:33of coffee and went outside. Bill Williams was in front of the hotel.
- 23:37Didn't knowing the killing Jenny, and you know Kirby was being questioned. Yeah,
- 23:42surprised me at first, but then I get to think, you know,
- 23:45he's a strange guy. He doesn't say much, but there's a lot
- 23:48going on inside, particularly about Lord. Yeah. Yeah, did you get
- 23:52your cut of the door from Frontier Week? All right, and well,
- 23:56I'm sure glad it's over. That killing last night turned a whole deale Stur'd
- 24:00be glad to get the taste of this time out of my mouth. When
- 24:03are you leaving? I tell the sheriff I'd be around in case he wants
- 24:06me to prefore the question. I leave when he says the word, what's
- 24:10with the crowd? Headings? Last, what are you talking about? You
- 24:15ain't wearing your gallon hat, and shore looks like a horse. You're sing
- 24:21what frontailwakets over. I'm a momer, but jose this money I lay off?
- 24:29No, not this morning. I'm thinking the whole idea. I said
- 24:32lay off, and I made it. The brown broke up and drifted away,
- 24:44and the street went to sleep again. But all of a sudden I
- 24:47woke up. I thought of that hot poker I found lying there low as
- 24:49this body, and a couple of things ended up fast. Sure it was
- 24:52a wild idea, but it was with a chance a bunch of jerks.
- 24:56Hey, you know, Bill, when I first arrived in town, you
- 24:59du in this horse trough because I wasn't wearing a ten gallon hat. Yeah,
- 25:03it was part of Front tierwek Well you're not wearing a hat now,
- 25:07look like I saw those guys Front Tier weeks old. I still want to
- 25:10return the compliments. Am I gonna have trouble with you two dollars? I
- 25:11guess you are, because I'm gonna duck you in that trough. Take off
- 25:15your shirt. Let's stay away from it, Take it off, Get your
- 25:18hands off of me. What's the matter You were afraid to take it off?
- 25:19What are you talking about? God go? I said, what's worth?
- 25:25What are you know? A nice big burn on your chest and on
- 25:27your arm. A few scratches too. Lois did that just before you killed
- 25:33it? Branded Okay, smart boy, there's a gun in my Pocumint's pointed
- 25:36right at you to just relax. You were a lot more involved with Lowis
- 25:38than you were letting on Williams. Why did you kill her? I was
- 25:41trying to shake her. She wouldn't shake it. She wanted to go with
- 25:42you. Huh Yeah, and that would have been just great dragging him.
- 25:45Well, I was dragging something like her with me to sent Francisco. That's
- 25:48a real sweet thing to say. I suppose you said it to her too.
- 25:51That's when she grabbed the poker. Come on, Bella, we're getting
- 25:53off the street. And now moved My hand was besides the horse trot.
- 25:59I scooped water right into his face. A shot went wild, but his
- 26:03chin was wide open. Yeah, Bill Williams got d after all. Expensive
- 26:18count Item ten one hundred and eighty three dollars fifty cents transportation and Incinto's back
- 26:23home total expenses five hundred and twenty eight dollars. Remarks about Day Biggers,
- 26:30he really wasn't just a bad guy, except that, like the sheriff said,
- 26:34he had a nod in his reign. About Lowess, he sold his
- 26:37ranch and moved away. About Bill Williams, well you better cancel out his
- 26:42policy, Pats, he's due to go on trial soon, and in my
- 26:47books, he's a pretty bad risk yours truly, Johnny Dollars. Our star
- 27:03will return in just a moment. Our flag now numbers fifty stars, and
- 27:08behind each star there stands yet another flag representing one of the fifty states.
- 27:14Oklahoma state flag detects an osage warriors circular buckskin shield from which hang seven eagle
- 27:21feathers. Across the shield is the Indian's calumet or pipe of peace cross with
- 27:26a white man's peace symbols. The olive branch on the shield are small crosses
- 27:32the Indian's graphics sign for stars indicating lofty ideals or a purpose for high endeavors.
- 27:38The background of the flag is a field of blue, the blue of
- 27:42the Oklahoma sky, signifying loyalty and devotion. The important symbols, however,
- 27:48are the calumet and the olive branch. These override the shield, the symbol
- 27:53of war, and bespeak a predominant love of peace by a united people.
- 28:00Oklahoma state flag, the flag of the forty sixth state to enter the Union,
- 28:03was adopted on April second, nineteen twenty five. Oh here's that's God.
