- 0:41The f A. Hey, y'all, welcome to today's Wow. Has it
- 1:03been a busy Monday? Who? First of all, I released my new
- 1:08book today. This is the twelfth book I've written. It's my second specifically
- 1:15Catholic book. Although my book, The Christian History of Herbal Medicine, is
- 1:22very Catholic. I mean, you know, there was only one Catholic Church
- 1:26for most of the history of Christianity. You know, the Orthodox branched off,
- 1:32but I mean Protestantism. It is only about five hundred years old,
- 1:34so most essentially the history of medicine up until I'm going to say, really
- 1:45the seventeen hundreds was firmly rooted in Catholic tradition. You know, the Benedictines
- 1:51and other orders founded monasteries all throughout Europe and free hospitals and practiced herbal medicine.
- 1:57The Holy Roman emperors Arlamagne actually signed the capitul Air which demanded that they
- 2:05offered free health care and have herb gardens to treat the sick. And you
- 2:10know, the first medical schools were all Catholic. Even after Protestant you know,
- 2:15so called Reformation in Germany and England, the schools that were eventually mostly
- 2:24taken over, especially in England by Protestants. All the books were written in
- 2:29Latin by Catholics, all the knowledge they had of medicine. First medical school
- 2:35in the world in Salerno was founded by Catholic, a Jew and a Muslim,
- 2:38I mean, and all its writings were mostly well, yeah, I
- 2:40think all of them are in Latin. I mean, it wasn't until the
- 2:46late fifteen hundreds when the Protestants fully took over the institutions and started banning Catholics
- 2:55from teaching and practicing medicine, started forming ULDs and such. But yeah,
- 3:01well into the late eighteen hundreds, the influence of Catholicism on herbal medicine was
- 3:08greater than any other influence in any European country or in the Americas. So
- 3:15that is a Catholic book, really it is. I mean, I quote
- 3:19from Saint Hildegarde and Arabbit Walford Strawbo and Saint Benedictine. You know, it
- 3:23really is a very Catholic book. But then, of course I wrote My
- 3:25Confirmation Story, an autobiography of faith. Confirmation autobiography of faith. That's you
- 3:32know, that's my confirmation, that's my what am I trying to say that's
- 3:39my conversion story from Protestantism to Catholicism, and it's purely Catholic, though I
- 3:46would hope many Protestants would read it that was actually, you know, the
- 3:51Gault. I would like for many Protestants to understand why I became Catholic and
- 3:55why they might want to consider it. But the third truly fully Catholic book
- 4:00now is my new one that was just released this morning. It's called it
- 4:05Daily Catholic Devotional Reflections on the Daily Mass Readings January through June twenty twenty four
- 4:12by Judson Carroll. This is the Gospel from the Mass readings for each day
- 4:15for the first six months and next year, with my commentary on it,
- 4:20my reflection as much as I do occasionally from Izzio day semi weekly, well
- 4:26it's become biweekly. Sometimes I'm the filling guy. Well, I just want
- 4:30ahead and wrote a whole book for y'all, and it's available now in paperback
- 4:36from Amazon dot com. And yeah, make a great Well, I'm sure
- 4:42if you'd like to have a copy, it'd be great, a great gift
- 4:44for yourself, but it will make a great gift for any Catholics. In
- 4:46your life and or anyone considering becoming Catholic, or anyone that may be a
- 4:51little straying for the faith. It needs to be kind of brought back in
- 4:55a little bit, because you know, as a convert, I do see
- 4:59things little differently. I can be a little more understanding of arguments against the
- 5:03Church and very stricently oppose them without really worrying about offending anyone, because I've
- 5:11been through that. I've been there. But if you want the e book,
- 5:15you can order directly from me. It's just nine ninet nine. I
- 5:19sent it as a PDF, great last minute Christmas gift. But I'm also
- 5:23offering a special for anyone who becomes a paid subscriber to my subtech newsletter,
- 5:28The Uncensored Catholic, which I'll put the link in the show notes. It's
- 5:33only eight dollars a month. So if you become a paid subscriber from now
- 5:39to January one, I'm going to send you two free e books. Any
- 5:44of of them you choose, my new one, another Catholic book, ORed,
- 5:47one of my books on herbal medicine, or my cookbook. These are
- 5:49all nine ninety nine as ebooks directly from me. So I'm going to give
- 5:55you twenty dollars worth of books for eight bucks minimum. You know, you
- 6:00can give that as a gift subscription to someone. You can have it for
- 6:03yourself if you want to give the books to someone and keep a subscription to
- 6:06yourself, or vice versa, or you keep a book and they keep a
- 6:10book. It's cool. You know, it's up to you. Just email
- 6:14me and tell me what you want. And so that can be a very
- 6:15you know, an eight dollars gift to give someone the last minute, maybe
- 6:19if you've forgotten or you know, I'm shipping as ridiculous these days. I'm
- 6:25having to deal with that a lot right now with the spoons I'm carving and
- 6:27such. You know, you can give somebody a subscription to the newsletter or
- 6:31an ebook and or an e book, I guess I should say, with
- 6:35no shipping costs, and it's like they're in the blank of an eye,
- 6:39And I mean it's pretty unique gift. Actually, because this has just come
- 6:44out, no one's going to have a copy of this book already, So
- 6:47yeah, I hope you'll take advantage of that. And actually, if you
- 6:49bought a more than one month subscription, you get more free e books.
- 6:55So I'm just you know, it's Christmas, I'm feeling generous. I'm basically
- 7:00given stuff away because I would like people to have a deeper faith in the
- 7:04Catholic Church, in our Lord, and more knowledge and understanding about the teachings
- 7:13of Christ and his Church. And you know that's really my goal here.
- 7:16So yeah, if I shoot, great, great, I'd love to I
- 7:20as always said, I'd love to be under your Christmas tree or in your
- 7:24stocking, or I guess on someone's phone on Christmas morning if they were you
- 7:30know, read my ebook or listen to about podcast or whatever. Yeah,
- 7:32I guess. The other thing is speaking of shipping, I just finished a
- 7:35large order for our lady who bought several sets of my spoons as gifts,
- 7:41And yeah, you're probably going to go in the mail tomorrow. I want
- 7:46to make sure they're perfectly dry before I oil them, and I think they
- 7:49should be good to go by tomorrow. Anyway, I can take some commissions,
- 7:56just a limited number. If you have seen something on my site that
- 8:00is mark sold and you say I want something carved like this, I'd like
- 8:03to give it as a gift, please email me like right away. I
- 8:05would also say for items that are still for sale on Judson Carrol Woodcraft dot
- 8:09subsect dot com earlier the sooner you order them, the better, because you
- 8:15know, the post office gets overwhelmed around Christmas. So I'm tired from getting
- 8:22up early to release the book and carving a very large chery cooking spoon today.
- 8:26That's a lot of work. Actually, yeah, it's amazing amount of
- 8:31exercise, if you want to put it that way. But I love it.
- 8:33I absolutely love it, and I'm thrilled to do that for people.
- 8:37And yeah, just do remember when it comes to the spoons of the baskets
- 8:43and things, if you want that, the sooner the better, So you
- 8:46make sure you have things there for Christmas. If you're ordering a book from
- 8:48Amazon or something, they're going to get to you right away. So I'm
- 8:52not too worried about that. So anyway, y'all, let's get into the
- 8:56radio replies, question answer, and then we'll get into a very interesting entry
- 9:01from Father Spirago. But remember, my book is a daily Catholic devotional reflections
- 9:05on the Daily Mass readings January through June twenty twenty four by Judson Carroll.
- 9:11I really hope you'll enjoy it. I think you will. If you like
- 9:15my show, you go to love the book because you know it's the same
- 9:16uncensored Catholic I just tell it like it is, the way I see it.
- 9:20And yeah, there's some I make some pretty stride up statements, especially
- 9:24about so called Catholic politicians. You know that really should be excommunicated. But
- 9:31anyway, let's get on to the questions and answers. So last time we
- 9:37left off with someone asking about supposed inconsistencies in the New Testament, and they're
- 9:43getting into the genealogy of Jesus. Now, I usually skip that part in
- 9:48the Bible. I have to admit I skip a lot in Leviticus, and
- 9:52I skip a lot in the genealogies of Jesus. Doesn't mean I haven't read
- 9:54them several times. I just don't need to keep reading the same kind of,
- 9:58you know, dry information, over and over and over. But the
- 10:03person says, Saint Matthew gives forty two generations, Saint Luke seventy two.
- 10:07Why well, the answer neither intended to give all the generations. The present
- 10:13Prince of Wales, could I say, could say I was born George the
- 10:16fifth, That's who was prince in the nineteen thirties, who was descended from
- 10:20Queen Victoria. Another writer could say the Prince of Wales was born joined the
- 10:24George the fifth, who was born of Edward the seventh, who was born
- 10:28of Queen Victoria. Both accounts would be right, although one would be inadequate.
- 10:33Why did Saint Matthew Shoes write to give only forty two generations only?
- 10:37Well? Because he wrote for the Jews and wish to show that the Christ
- 10:39was the Messiah, the son of David. In Hebrews, David's name consists
- 10:45of three letters, those letters numerically signifying fourteen. Thus DVD has the numerical
- 10:50significance of four six four. Following a Jewish custom, Saint Matthew gives three
- 10:56times fourteen i e. Forty two generations of the Davidic generation. Saint Luke,
- 11:03on the other hand, chose seventy two because, having been the companion
- 11:07of Saint Paul the Apostles to the Gentiles, he wrote for the Gentiles.
- 11:11Jewish tradition held that there were seventy two races of men throughout the world,
- 11:16and Saint Luke wished to show that Christ would call all nations his religion to
- 11:20his religion. This may seem complicated to us, but it was not to
- 11:24the Jews of those time. The person continues, but even granted no real
- 11:28inconsistency of the numbers, there seems to be a great inconsistency in the regard
- 11:31to the names. Also, how could Jacob be the father of Joseph,
- 11:35as Saint Matthew says, yet Heli or yeah, I guess that's why you
- 11:41pass it be his father according to Saint Luke's account, they answer. Many
- 11:45scholars have replied that Jacob and Heli were half brothers. Upon Heli's death,
- 11:48without issue, Jacob married his widow in accordance with the levitical law to provide
- 11:54children to Heli. Joseph would thus have been the natural son of Jacob and
- 11:58the legal son of Helio. In these cases, since Saint Matthew gives the
- 12:03natural genealogy in Saint Luke the legal genealogy, we have two different, yet
- 12:07correct lines of ancestry. Person asks, can you prove the solution is correct?
- 12:13And they answer the obligation to do so does not rest with me.
- 12:16An advisary has failed to prove contradiction until he has succeeded in proving it incorrect,
- 12:22it would be very difficult to do so. Meanwhile, the theory certainly
- 12:26has its own probability in accordance with the levitical law. That's something I think
- 12:33we often forget in apologetics when someone makes an accusation, all say about the
- 12:39inquisitions only killed millions of people, or such nonsense as that. The onus
- 12:45the responsibility, or you know, I love that word onus. I brought
- 12:48this up before. My grandfather used it all the time. He was was
- 12:52a justice of the peace for a while. He is probably where he picked
- 12:54it up. It means the burden is upon you, You bear the responsibility
- 13:00when someone makes an outrageous statement like that. It's actually upon them to prove
- 13:05the truth of it, not for you to disprove it. You can simply
- 13:09say to them that's not true. There's no hystetic historical evidence to support that.
- 13:15There is not a single legitimate history book you can point to that would
- 13:18state this. There's no contemporary account that says it. You believe something false,
- 13:26and the burden, the onus is on you to prove the falsehood to
- 13:33be credible, and then they're going to have to go back and start researching.
- 13:37He'll probably come up with a bunch of anti Catholic writers who've written in
- 13:41the last twenty to fifty years, mostly probably articles off the internet, and
- 13:46you just say, they have cited no legitimate historical sources. Show me the
- 13:52grave, show me the documents, Show me the court records, because those
- 13:54were court proceedings in the inquisition, and there were extensive records cap of each
- 14:01one. So you say, what you're saying is false and you cannot prove
- 14:05it is true, and therefore I don't have to address it. I call
- 14:09it utter nonsense. That's usually them the conversation. They'll say, well,
- 14:15I believe what I believe because I believe it, and you say, well,
- 14:16okay, good for you, good for you. Had a very interesting
- 14:22message from someone today who said that the Judaism and Islam and Christianity were all
- 14:33founded essentially by teachings that were brought to us by aliens who landed in Israel
- 14:43some thousand of years ago. And do I bother to address it. I
- 14:50could say, show me the evidence of your aliens. That would probably be
- 14:58about the end of that conversation, because they have no archaeological evidence. They
- 15:03have no historical evidence. The only thing they can say is that the oh,
- 15:09how do you pronounce it? A nakim anakim or something where the Bible
- 15:13says that the it has been misinterpreted according to Father's According to the priest here
- 15:20and radio replies that angels lusted after the daughters of men and the Ghet a
- 15:28race of giants, and as they explained, I guess about two shows ago,
- 15:33it was actually the descendants of the sons of God, which have been
- 15:39interpreted as angels, were actually those who followed the religion that God gave to
- 15:46Abraham, whereas the sons of Man in this regard were those who followed after
- 15:54pagan religions and the inner marriage of essentially Jews and Pagans. As the priests
- 16:03said, Begat a race that were giants of immorality, although they also may
- 16:11have been rather physically large, because there are some there is some archaeological evidence
- 16:15that people have certain you know, as I talked all about Andre the giant
- 16:21and the genetic disposition to gigantism and all that it's a recessive gene and certain
- 16:26tribes may have been quite large, but it was not a matter of angels
- 16:33coming to have children with human women. It was a matter of a parable
- 16:40an analogy that people of the pure religion, the religion given to Abraham by
- 16:45God, had mixed with the false religion, pagan religions who worship demons.
- 16:52And you know, that's been that's a problem throughout the entire Old Testament.
- 16:56I mean that is like literally the story of the Old Testament. The Jews
- 17:02intermarry with the pagan tribes around them and everything falls apart. They start worshiping
- 17:06idols, and God punishes them and they get enslaved by another country and the
- 17:11you know, the temple gets raised to the ground. And I mean that
- 17:15is literally the story that is over and over and over in the Old Testament.
- 17:19So that really does stand to reason, you know, especially as angels
- 17:25are purely spiritual beings that have no physical bodies. And it's Jesus said that
- 17:30in heaven we be like the angels, neither marrying nor given to marriage,
- 17:37So angels would not be lusting after human women and coming and having relations with
- 17:45them and begetting a race of giants. That's a huge misinterpretation. But this
- 17:51you know, very intelligent man actually who's quite misguided when it comes to religion,
- 17:56believes that that's an analogy for aliens who came to Earth. But his
- 18:03only historical evidence is a misinterpreted story from Genesis. There's no archaeological evidence,
- 18:12there's no contemporary histories, there's nothing. So I mean, it's not upon
- 18:18me to disprove his fable. It's upon him to prove it. And it
- 18:23can't be done. And I guess we'll go ahead and get into Father Sparago
- 18:27because time is passing and I am trying to keep these around thirty minutes,
- 18:33all right, So Father Sparago says in his explanation of the Catechism this we're
- 18:37now on chapter seven on the absence and loss of faith. Very interesting.
- 18:42I was just writing an article for this on this very subject for Missy Oday.
- 18:45You'll read it on Thursday if you are signed up for my newsletter through
- 18:51Substack The Uncensored Catholic I sent it out to everybody, or you can read
- 18:53it on missi Oday's site. Faith is the road to Heaven. Unhappily,
- 18:59there are very many who are wanderers and strangers to the Christian faith. Those
- 19:04who do not possess Christian faith are either one heretics, or two infidels.
- 19:10That strong language we don't really use anymore, but it's very accurate, and
- 19:12we really should speak in those terms. One Heretics are those who reject some
- 19:19one or more of the truth revealed by God. Heretics are those who hold
- 19:25some of the doctrines revealed by God and reject others. Those who induce others
- 19:30to false belief are called leaders of heresy or arch heretics. It is always
- 19:38pride that leads them away from the truth. Among these arch heresies was Arius,
- 19:42a priest of Alexandria, who denied the divinity of Christ and was condemned
- 19:48at the Council of Nicea in three twenty five, Macedonius, who denied divinity
- 19:55of the Holy Ghost and was condemned in the Council of Constantinople in three eighty
- 19:59one, And most importantly to us in this ten time, Martin Luther,
- 20:04who assailed the divine institution of the papacy and the right of the Church to
- 20:08teach. King Henry the eighth King of England, who threw off the authority
- 20:12of the Pope and proclaimed himself the head of the Church of England because the
- 20:18Pope refused to declare invalid his marriage with the Queen Catherine Dolinger, who was
- 20:22a professor at the University of Munich and was celebrated for his literary labors.
- 20:30But on definition of infallibility, the Pope refused to accept the dogma and was
- 20:33excommunicated. He died in eighteen ninety without being reconciled or giving any sign of
- 20:38repentance. Dolinger was the chief mover in the establishment of the sect of Old
- 20:44Catholics most I mean, you know, these days we don't really say that
- 20:49Martin Luther and King Henry the eighth were heretics and that their churches they founded
- 20:56are heretical. But it's truelute because they were checked the treats of Christ and
- 21:02his Church. And if we could be a little more, you know,
- 21:07we have to be charitable and speak reasonably with people, especially Protestants, when
- 21:11we're trying to bring them into the Catholic Church, but when we have that
- 21:14knowledge that their doctrine is heretical and ours is true and the only true Christian
- 21:21doctrine, because there's only one truth, unchangeable, and it's the one given
- 21:26to the church by Christ two thousand years ago. Not something Martin Luther came
- 21:30up with five hundred years ago. Unchanging throughout time, we can have the
- 21:37confidence to stand our ground. And you know, like another one of those
- 21:44uh when someone says something crazy like about aliens and such as that being the
- 21:51true founders of our religion and you know all that crap that really comes from
- 21:53the Masonic order that I mean, that's which comes from the Gnostics. I
- 21:57mean, I could, you know totally just prove this stuff in an instant,
- 22:00But the onus is not on me to disprove. The onness is upon
- 22:04them to prove it, and they can't do it. Well. The same
- 22:07thing when a protest says, well the Bible says this, or where does
- 22:11it say that in the Bible? The Bible doesn't say what the Catholic Church
- 22:14teaches you say, so what where does the Bible say? It's the sole
- 22:17authority. Who do you think gave you the Bible? As Father Spirago said,
- 22:22Jesus did not commission writers, He commentioned preachers and teachers. He did
- 22:27not leave us a Bible, he left us a church. As Saint Augustine
- 22:33said, I would not believe the Bible were true unless the Holy Catholic Church
- 22:37tell me so. Most of the founders of heresy were either bishops or priests.
- 22:45They are like coiners of false money who put into circulation worthless metal in
- 22:49place of the pure gold of truth, or like a dishonest traitors who mix
- 22:53the pure wine of the Gospel with some injurious compound. They are murderers of
- 22:59soul, for they take the men away from the road that leads to eternal
- 23:03life, and tempt them into that which leads to eternal death. It is
- 23:07of them our Lord says woe to them by whom scandals come. And again,
- 23:11beware of false prophets who come to you in the clothing of sheep,
- 23:15but inwardly they are ravening wolves. I mean. Always remember, Protestants may
- 23:21have a very strong faith, and they love Jesus, but the founders of
- 23:26their church are exactly those people Jesus just described. And they are heretics,
- 23:30and their doctrine is heretical. And we can gently lead them into the fullness
- 23:34of the truth, but only if we have the confidence so to do.
- 23:41Their object is not to spread faith in its purity, but to satisfy their
- 23:45own evil inclinations. Their pride their sensual desires or their love for money.
- 23:51Their religious teaching is only a cloak for these. They look out for the
- 23:53weak side of human nature as Satan does. Thus loose their attempted princes with
- 23:59the churches and monasteries, and priests with the bate of marriage. To the
- 24:03class of heretics belong all those schismatics who accept a professor or who accept a
- 24:11profess to accept all Catholic doctrine, but would not acknowledge the supremacy of the
- 24:15Holy See. Thus, the Greek Church is a schismatical church, though its
- 24:21denial of papal infallibility constitutes constitutes it sense of Vatican Council heretical. Also,
- 24:29that's a very difficult sentence to say. Basically, he's saying Greek Orthodoxy is
- 24:33heretical because it denies the authority of the Pope. Heresy is one of the
- 24:40greatest of all sins when it is not the result of invincible ignorance. Saint
- 24:45Paul writes to the Galatians that if an angel from heaven preach to them any
- 24:49gospel different from that that they had received, he was to be anathema or
- 24:55a cursed saint. Jerome says that there is no one so far removed from
- 24:59God God as a wilful heretic. At the same time, he who lives
- 25:03in heresy through ignorance for which he himself is not to blame, is not
- 25:07a heretic in the sight of God. That's what I was just trying to
- 25:10explain about how most Protestants don't know their doctrine's faults. Thus, those who
- 25:15are brought up in Protestantism and have no opportunity of obtaining sufficient instruction in the
- 25:21Catholic religion are not heretics in the sight of God, for in them there
- 25:25is no obstinate denial or doubt of truth. They are no more heretics than
- 25:30a man who takes the property of another unwittingly is a thief. Number two.
- 25:34Rationalists or unbelievers are those who will not believe anything unless they can perceive
- 25:38it with their senses or comprehend it with their understanding. Thus, Saint Thomas
- 25:44was an unbeliever when he refused to believe in the resurrection of Jesus Christ unless
- 25:48he should put his finger into the sacred wind of Our Lord's hand and feet,
- 25:52and put his hand into his side. There are many in the present
- 25:55day. Like Saint Thomas, they will believe nothing except what they can see
- 25:57with their eyes or grass for their reason, all else e g. All
- 26:02mysteries of the faith, they reject. Unbelief, says Saint John Christostom is
- 26:07like a sandy soil that produces no fruit, however much rain falls upon it.
- 26:11The unbeliever does God the same injustice that a subject would do his king
- 26:17if he refused to acknowledge his authority in spite of the clearest proofs for it.
- 26:21Unbelief springs, for the most part from a bad life. The sun
- 26:26is clearly reflected in pure and clear water, but not in dirty water.
- 26:29So it is with men. A man of blameless life easily finds this way
- 26:33of the truth. But the sensual man does not perceive the things that are
- 26:36of the spirit of God. A mirror that is dim reflects badly or not
- 26:40at all. So the soul, which is a mirror on which the light
- 26:45falls from God, cannot perceive the truths of faith. If it be dimmed.
- 26:49By Vice UH Part two, a faith, for the most part is
- 26:55lost either one by indifference to the doctrines of the faith, two by wilful
- 26:59doubt respecting the truth of the faith. Three by reading books or other literature
- 27:03that are hostile to the faith. Four by frequently frequenting the assemblies of those
- 27:08who are hostile to the faith. Five by neglecting the practice of one's religion.
- 27:17He who, through culpable indifference, does not trouble himself about the doctrines
- 27:21of the faith gradually loses the gift of faith. He is like a plant
- 27:26that is not water to the lamp that is not filled with oil. Such
- 27:29men know that they are very ignorant of their religion, and yet they take
- 27:32no pains to get instructed. They are engrossed with this world. They never
- 27:37pray or hear a sermon, And if they are parents, they take no
- 27:40pains to get their children properly instructed. Perhaps they fancy themselves men of the
- 27:45Enlightenment and look with pitying contempt on those who are conscientious and earnest in the
- 27:49practice of their religion. I think that would oh, let's say, most
- 27:53of the political and legal and academic classes America, medical profession, most of
- 28:02the professional classes in America these days, would fall into that category. The
- 28:06body must be nourished, else it would perish from hunger. The soul must
- 28:10be nourished, else it too will perish. Its nourishment is the teaching of
- 28:14Christ. He himself says in his conversation with a woman of Samaria, that
- 28:18the water that he would give her I e. His divine doctrine, should
- 28:21be her well of water springing up into life. It's her life everlasting.
- 28:26And in the Synagogue of Kafarnum he said, I am the Bread of life.
- 28:30He that cometh to me shall not hunger, and he that believeth on
- 28:33me shall neverffer thirst. That is why the careful instruction of children and converts
- 28:38is so all important. When converts fall away, the cause very often is
- 28:44that they have not been well instructed before their reception to the church. Very
- 28:47true, it's very hard to become Catholic by the way. You have to
- 28:49go through rcia and all kinds of stuff, because they want to make sure
- 28:52you really know what you believe before you join and accept it. The Catholic
- 28:59must not suppose that he is freed from the study of the doctrines of faith
- 29:02because he has been duly instructed in his youth. The plant must be watered
- 29:07even when it has grown up. The soul of the adult needs to renew
- 29:11its acquaintance with the truth of faith by hearing sermons, reading pious books,
- 29:15et cetera. Els it will soon lose the vigor of its faith. He
- 29:19who allows himself willingly to doubt any of the doctrines of the Church commits a
- 29:23serious sin against faith, and is sure, little by little to lose his
- 29:29faith altogether. Seeing that happen very I can't tell you how often I meet
- 29:33old folks who I'm a lapsed Catholic. Well, I you know, I
- 29:37was raised Catholic, I went to Catholic school, I went to a Catholic
- 29:41university. I was even in the seminary for a while. And now they're,
- 29:44you know, totally falling away. And it's a shame. And it's
- 29:48often to cause his politics. They become liberal Democrats and they've come to turn
- 29:53against the teachings of the Church. You cannot be a liberal Democrat and a
- 29:57Catholic. I'm sorry, it's not compatible. You cannot say killing babies is
- 30:03okay and be a Catholic. The house is sure to fall, of which
- 30:07the foundations are loosened. He who doubts any revealed truth seriously offends God.
- 30:14Sarah doubted God's promise that she should bear a son in her old age,
- 30:18and was reproved by God for her incredulity. Zacharias doubted the announcement of the
- 30:22Angel that John the Baptist should be born to him, and as a punishment
- 30:26for a time he lost the power of speech. Yet, doubts that come
- 30:29into our minds involve no sin if we do not willfully consent to them.
- 30:33If doubts come to any If doubts come into our minds, we should not
- 30:37argue with them, but should make an act of faith and pray for more
- 30:41faith. Those whoever, who are outside of the church and have not the
- 30:45faith, are bound if they doubt, to search and inquire until they have
- 30:48found the truth. With them, doubt is no sin, so long as
- 30:53their search after the truth is made in a spirit of humility and with a
- 30:57sincere desire to of the truth. In this way, John huss who disseminated
- 31:04the false doctrine over Bohemia, is said to have been corrupted by the works
- 31:08of the English writer Wycliffe. It was the writings of Luther that chiefly contribute
- 31:15to the apostasy of Calvin, and I've never known how to pronounce this guy's
- 31:19name. Zwingley z w I n g l I. Julian the Apostate ad.
- 31:26Three sixty three is said to have lost his faith by reading the writings
- 31:30of the heretic Libanius during his expedition to Nicodemia. In present day, the
- 31:36books against the faith are countless. Among the most mischief mischievous works are the
- 31:40works of Rousseau, Voltaire, Zola, Rinan, Gibbon, Ingersoll, Huxley,
- 31:45etc. Yeah. Yeah, most of the books you're encouraged to read
- 31:51in high school and college. You ever wonder why? Yeah? Yeah.
- 31:56The Church like a good mother, seeing how books dangers of the faith were
- 32:00on the increase, established in fifteen seventy one, the Congregation of the Index,
- 32:07through which the Apostolic See forbids to Catholics a number of books which are
- 32:12judged to be a source of danger to faith or morals. I am actually
- 32:15very much in favor of that. I mean, I do think the Catholic
- 32:19churches, I know the Catholic churches the authority to say, any faithful Catholic
- 32:23may not read this book because it's an evil book. It to be injurious
- 32:28to your faith. They also have the responsibility to do so. And people
- 32:30say, oh, I'm against censorship. I'm against censorship. We have a
- 32:35choice, be a Catholic and follow the teachers of the Catholic Church, or
- 32:38don't go to help. You know. Anyway, anyone who reads such books,
- 32:43prints them, or even has them in his possession without permission from ecclesiastical
- 32:47superiors incurs the penalty of excommunication reserved to the pope. Church doesn't really do
- 32:55this anymore. I think they should bring it back, is what I'm saying.
- 33:00However, is not incurred by anyone who reads such a book without knowing
- 33:02that it was forbidden. At one time all books had to be sanctioned by
- 33:07the bishop of the diocese it, but this was afterwards limited to books touching
- 33:12on religion. By these means, the Church sought to preserve the purity of
- 33:15the Christian doctrine. Many too, have lost their faith by habitually reading newspapers
- 33:21hostile to the faith. I see how our media has encouraged our culture to
- 33:25become opposed to all Catholic teaching. Nothing new. Father Sparago was talking about
- 33:30it in the eighteen hundreds, as the body cannot remain in health if it
- 33:36is fed with unwholesome foods. So the mind becomes diseased and corrupt. If
- 33:40a man feeds it with unwholesome and pernicious literature. The process may be a
- 33:45slow one, but is like the solid rock which wears away little by little
- 33:51as the drops of waterfall upon it. Now, just imagine Father Sparago in
- 33:54our time with rampant pornography, and that has been of the most negative deleterious
- 34:00influences on our society. I mean, if not the worst bad reading is
- 34:06like un wholesome unwholesome food which are eir long induced in sickness and even death
- 34:12among the enemies of the faith of the Freemasons in Protestant countries, they seem
- 34:16harmless enough. And many converts have belonged to the Masonic Order have borne witness
- 34:22that they have never encountered anything in it which was opposed either to the throne
- 34:25or the altar. But the real object aimed at by the leaders of Freemasonry
- 34:30is to destroy all authority that comes from God and all revealed religion. We're
- 34:35going to get into that a lot. The freedom of the Masonic Order is
- 34:37really dangerous and really behind most of the evil in this world. I mean
- 34:43they, I mean Masonic Order is Satanic. Their secret oaths of obedience,
- 34:49taken as it is without any reserve, is absolutely unlawful, and the symbolism
- 34:54of many of its lodges is grossly blasphemous and insulting to Christianity. The idea
- 35:00of Freemasonry is taken from the Masonic guilds of the Middle Ages, the members
- 35:04of which employed themselves in the construction of cathedrals and churches. It possesses to
- 35:08have for its object the construction of a spiritual temple to humanity and enlightenment.
- 35:14But Freemasons are invariably bitter foes of Christianity and of the Catholic Church. Everyone
- 35:20joining them is ipso facto excommunicated, and actually poke France has just reiterated this
- 35:27last month. Catholics may not join the Masonic Order, the two are completely
- 35:31completely at odds. But every person, every Catholic who joins the Masonic Order
- 35:37is ipso facto excommunicated, and the Pope alone can restore him to the membership
- 35:43of the Church, except at the hour of death, when any priest has
- 35:46the power to do so number three and this is the final point. We'll
- 35:52wrap it up here. All men who, through their own fault, die
- 35:55without Christian faith are, by the just judgment of God, sentenced to an
- 36:00eternal perdition. Unhappy are, indeed, are those who have not faith.
- 36:06They sit in darkness and in the shadow of death. Our Lord says,
- 36:10he who believeth not shall be condemned. And again he who believeth not is
- 36:15condemned already. Of heretics, Saint Paul says that they are condemned by their
- 36:20own judgment. We ought to pray often for heretics and unbelievers, that God
- 36:24may, in his mercy, bring them to the true faith. All right,
- 36:29y'all, let's wrap it up there. Well, I mean there's a
- 36:34lot in there, and I mean a lot of controversial statements, So we're
- 36:37going to revisit this a lot. But I mean, Father Sparagas is so
- 36:42forcefully and plainly, I mean, I don't think anybody could misunderstand. So
- 36:47I think we can. Yeah, we can leave it there, and in
- 36:50the words of Saint Padre Pio, pray, hope and don't worry, and
- 36:54I will talk to you tomorrow.
