Latest / Neville Goddard Mindset / The Bridge of Incidents: Why Your Desire Finds You

- 0:00There is a lie you have been told about how desires come to
- 0:02pass, and it has caused more suffering, more frustration, and
- 0:07more abandonment of perfectly valid assumptions than perhaps
- 0:10any other falsehood in the history of human thought.
- 0:14The lie is this, that you must figure out how, that once you
- 0:17set an intention, once you feel the wish fulfilled, once you do
- 0:21the work of impressing the subconscious mind, you must then
- 0:24map out the steps, plan the route, engineer the sequence of
- 0:28events that will carry you from where where you are to where you
- 0:31want to be. I tell you from my own
- 0:33experience, the how is none of your business.
- 0:36And the reason it is none of your business is that there
- 0:38exists A mechanism so elegant, so precise, and so utterly
- 0:43beyond the capacity of the conscious mind to design that
- 0:46any attempt to plan it would only delay it.
- 0:49I called this mechanism the Bridge of Incidents, and once
- 0:53you understand how it works, you will never again waste a single
- 0:56hour trying to figure out the path to your desire.
- 1:00My name is Neville. For more than 40 years I taught
- 1:03the Law of Assumption to anyone willing to listen.
- 1:06And of all the principles I discovered and tested and
- 1:09proved, the Bridge of Incidents is perhaps the one that inspires
- 1:13the most wonder, because it reveals the intelligence behind
- 1:17consciousness itself. Here is the principle in its
- 1:20simplest form. The moment you accept a new
- 1:22assumption as fact, the moment you feel the wish fulfilled in
- 1:26the state akin to sleep, the subconscious mind immediately
- 1:30begins constructing a series of events, a bridge that will carry
- 1:34you from your current position to the physical experience of
- 1:37that assumption. You do not build the bridge, you
- 1:40do not design it, you do not even see it being built.
- 1:44You simply walk across it, one incident at a time, and arrive
- 1:48at the destination that was determined the moment the
- 1:51assumption was impressed. In this teaching, I will show
- 1:54you exactly how the bridge of incidents works, why your
- 1:57conscious interference is the single greatest threat to its
- 2:01operation, and how to walk across it with the calm
- 2:04persistence that the Lord demands.
- 2:07Let me establish the foundation. Your subconscious mind is not a
- 2:11filing cabinet. It is not a passive storage
- 2:14system that holds your memories and waits for instructions.
- 2:17Your subconscious mind is an architect.
- 2:20It builds worlds. When you impress an assumption
- 2:23upon it with feeling, particularly in the state akin
- 2:26to sleep, it receives that impression as a blueprint, a
- 2:30completed building, not a plan for a building, a finished fact.
- 2:34And then, because the subconscious operates in
- 2:37dimensions your conscious mind cannot access, it begins working
- 2:41backward from that finished fact.
- 2:43It assembles the chain of events, the bridge that connects
- 2:47your present position to the assumed future.
- 2:50You are imagination, and imagination creates reality.
- 2:53But imagination does not create reality in a straight line.
- 2:57It creates through incidents, through meat things that seem
- 3:00accidental, through conversations you did not plan,
- 3:04through delays that feel like setbacks but are actually course
- 3:07corrections, through synchronicities that the
- 3:10rational mind dismisses as coincidence.
- 3:13None of it is coincidence. All of it is the bridge.
- 3:17The state you occupy determines the world you see, and when you
- 3:20occupy the state of the wish fulfilled, the world you see
- 3:23begins to reorganize, not all at once, but through a sequence of
- 3:28events that you could never have predicted and certainly could
- 3:31never have orchestrated. This is the part where most
- 3:34people fail not because the law fails, because they try to take
- 3:38control of something that was never theirs to control.
- 3:41So we have established that the subconscious mind builds the
- 3:45bridge, the moment and assumption is impressed upon it.
- 3:49We have established that this bridge operates through ordinary
- 3:52events, meetings, conversations, delays, synchronicities that you
- 3:56cannot predict or plan. But there is a deeper truth
- 4:00here, one that changes everything about how you
- 4:03approach the period between assumption and crystallization.
- 4:07And most teachers either do not know it or do not have the
- 4:10courage to say it. In a moment.
- 4:12I'm going to tell you what happens when you try to build
- 4:15the bridge yourself, and it will explain every single time.
- 4:18You felt your desire was close and then watched it slip away.
- 4:22The conscious mind has one fatal flaw.
- 4:25It can only see from where it currently stands.
- 4:28When you an intention and then try to figure out the how.
- 4:32You are looking at the landscape from your present position and
- 4:35trying to chart a course through territory you have never walked.
- 4:38You do not know what lies beyond the next hill.
- 4:41You do not know which doors will open and which will close.
- 4:45You do not know which apparent disaster is actually the fastest
- 4:48route to your destination. But the subconscious knows
- 4:52because the subconscious is not standing where you are standing.
- 4:55The subconscious is standing at the end, at the complete
- 4:59assumption and building the bridge backward toward you.
- 5:02This is why the how is none of your business.
- 5:05Let me give you an example that I witnessed personally.
- 5:08A man in one of my classes desired a particular position at
- 5:12a company. He was not qualified on paper.
- 5:15He did not know anyone at the company.
- 5:18By every rational assessment, the position was beyond his
- 5:21reach. He did the work.
- 5:22He entered the state akin to sleep.
- 5:24He constructed a scene, his wife embracing him, saying how proud
- 5:29she was of his new role. He felt it.
- 5:31He fell asleep in the feeling of it being done.
- 5:34Within days, a series of incidents began.
- 5:37He met a woman at a dinner party who happened to know the hiring
- 5:41manager. That woman mentioned his name in
- 5:44passing. The hiring manager, who was not
- 5:46actively hiring, became curious. A meeting was arranged.
- 5:50Not an interview, just a conversation.
- 5:53That conversation led to another a position that did not exist
- 5:57was created specifically, specifically for him.
- 6:00He did not plan any of this. He did not know the woman at the
- 6:03dinner party. He did not know the hiring
- 6:05manager would be open to creating a new role.
- 6:08None of it was within the range of what his conscious mind could
- 6:12have designed. That is the bridge of incidents.
- 6:15It is not magic. It is not luck.
- 6:18It is the subconscious mind fulfilling the blueprint it
- 6:21received in the state akin to sleep.
- 6:23Dare to assume the feeling of the wish fulfilled.
- 6:26And then, and this is the discipline, let the bridge build
- 6:30itself. Now, what does it look like when
- 6:32you interfere? It looks like anxiety.
- 6:34It looks like checking for signs.
- 6:37It looks like asking every morning whether anything has
- 6:39changed yet. It looks like adjusting your
- 6:42behavior to try to force the outcome.
- 6:44It looks like telling the subconscious, I do not trust
- 6:47you, let me do it. The moment you reach for the
- 6:50wheel, you are telling the subconscious that the assumption
- 6:53is not yet real. You are reimpressing the old
- 6:56assumption, the assumption of LAX, of uncertainty, of not yet.
- 7:01And the subconscious, faithful and literal receives that
- 7:05impression and builds accordingly.
- 7:07This is why so many people feel their desire is close and then
- 7:11watch it evaporate. They had the assumption the
- 7:14bridge was forming, the incidents were unfolding, and
- 7:17then they grabbed the steering wheel and veered off course.
- 7:21Persist in your assumption, and the world must rearrange itself
- 7:24to conform. But persistence does not mean
- 7:27pushing, it means trust. It means occupying the state of
- 7:31the wish fulfilled with calm certainty.
- 7:33Even when the bridge presents you with an incident that looks
- 7:37like a detour, because the detour is often the fastest
- 7:40route, the subconscious knows things your conscious mind does
- 7:44not. Man's imagination is the only
- 7:46redemptive power in the world, and the bridge that imagination
- 7:50builds is more intelligent, more efficient, and more creative
- 7:54than anything the planning mind could construct.
- 7:57What does it mean practically, to walk across the bridge
- 7:59without interfering? It means you go about your day,
- 8:03you do your work, you meet your obligations, you respond to what
- 8:07is in front of you. And you do all of this from the
- 8:09state of the wish fulfilled. Not from the state of waiting.
- 8:13Not from the state of hoping, from the state of knowing it is
- 8:16done. When an incident arises that
- 8:19feels related to your desire, a phone call, an invitation, a
- 8:23delay, a door that opens or closes, you respond to it.
- 8:27Naturally, you do. Do not analyze it for signs.
- 8:30You do not ask whether this is part of the bridge.
- 8:33You simply walk. The bridge does not require your
- 8:36supervision. It requires your assumption.
- 8:39And when doubt comes, and it will come, you do not fight it.
- 8:43You redirect, you return to the feeling, you return to the
- 8:46scene, You remind yourself in the quiet of your own mind.
- 8:50It is done. The subconscious has received
- 8:53the blueprint. The bridge is being built.
- 8:55My only job is to stay in the state.
- 8:58The most important. The conversation you will ever
- 9:00have is the one you hold with yourself.
- 9:02And during the bridge, that conversation must be one of calm
- 9:06certainty, not affirmations shouted from a place of
- 9:09desperation. Quiet knowing the way you know
- 9:12the sun will rise. What you desire, you already are
- 9:15in eternity. The bridge is not building your
- 9:18desire. Your desire already exists as a
- 9:21completed fact in the 4th dimension.
- 9:24The bridge is simply the series of events by which that fact
- 9:27translates into your thoughts. 3 dimensional experience. close
- 9:31your eyes for a moment. Think of something you have
- 9:33assumed, something you have felt in the state akin to sleep,
- 9:37something you have impressed upon your subconscious mind.
- 9:40Now, instead of reaching for it, release it.
- 9:43Feel the deep piece of knowing it is already done, not
- 9:46becoming, not approaching. Done.
- 9:49Feel the bridge beneath your feet.
- 9:51You do not need to see where it leads.
- 9:53You do not need to understand each plank.
- 9:55You only need to walk. Each step is an incident.
- 9:59Each incident is part of a design that is far more
- 10:01intelligent than anything your conscious mind could create.
- 10:05Isn't it wonderful? Rest in that the bridge is
- 10:08already built. You are already walking across
- 10:11it. And every incident in your life,
- 10:13even the ones that confuse you, even the ones that frighten you,
- 10:17is carrying you toward the assumption you impressed upon
- 10:20your subconscious mind. You may open your eyes now.
- 10:24Remember the man I told you about, the one who wanted the
- 10:27position he was not qualified for?
- 10:30He told me something after he received the role that I have
- 10:33never forgotten, he said. Neville.
- 10:35The strangest part was that none of it felt strange.
- 10:38Each step felt natural. Each meeting felt ordinary.
- 10:42It was only when I looked back at the whole chain that I saw
- 10:45how impossible it should have been.
- 10:47That is the bridge of incidents. It feels natural because it is
- 10:51natural. It is how consciousness has
- 10:53always operated. You have been walking across
- 10:56bridges your entire life. You simply you were not aware
- 10:59that you were the one who built them through the assumptions you
- 11:02held in the state akin to sleep. The only difference now is that
- 11:06you know. You know that the assumption
- 11:08comes first, the bridge comes second, and the how is never
- 11:12ever your responsibility. Sleep as though the wish were
- 11:15fulfilled, wake as though it is already so, and walk through
- 11:19your day knowing that every incident, every single one is
- 11:23part of the bridge that your subconscious is building on your
- 11:26behalf. The crystallization of
- 11:28assumption does not require your planning, it requires your
- 11:32trust. If this teaching has settled
- 11:34something in you, if you feel the relief of releasing the how,
- 11:37then carry this with you tonight.
- 11:39Assume, feel, sleep, and then walk across whatever bridge
- 11:43appears without questioning its architecture.
- 11:46If these teachings speak to something within you, you will
- 11:49find more of them here. Return when you are ready.
- 11:53I will be here and we will go deeper still.
- 11:56Consciousness is the only reality, and the bridge it
- 11:59builds is always, always enough.
