- Lucas: Welcome back to Learn Malay with Fexingo! I'm Lucas, and as always, I'm here with Luna. Luna: Hey everyone! It's good to be back. Lucas, I've been practicing my numbers from last episode – sebelas, dua belas, tiga belas – I almost have them down. Lucas: You do! And today we're building on that. We're going to learn a tiny but powerful word: 'ada'. Luna: 'Ada'? I've heard that before. It means 'have', right? Lucas: Exactly, and also 'there is' or 'there are'. It's super useful. For example, 'Saya ada buku' – I have a book. Luna: Saya ada buku. I have a book. Simple enough. Lucas: Yep. And if I want to say 'Luna has a cat', it's 'Luna ada kucing'. Luna: Luna ada kucing. Or just 'Dia ada kucing' – she has a cat. Lucas: Perfect. 'Dia' can mean he or she. So 'Dia ada' is he/she has. Luna: Got it. And 'ada' alone can mean 'there is'? Like 'Ada kucing di rumah' – there's a cat at home. Lucas: Absolutely. And to say 'there isn't' or 'don't have', add 'tidak' before 'ada'. 'Tidak ada' – don't have or there isn't. Luna: Tidak ada. So 'Saya tidak ada kucing' – I don't have a cat. Lucas: Right. And 'Tidak ada masalah' – no problem. Luna: Okay, I think I've got it. Let's try a few more examples. Lucas: Sure. 'Saya ada dua buku' – I have two books. 'Kamu ada pensel?' – Do you have a pencil? Luna: Kamu ada pensel? And I'd answer 'Ya, saya ada pensel' or 'Tidak, saya tidak ada pensel'. Lucas: Exactly. Now, you know what? If this episode has been helpful to you, honestly, if it was worth a coffee to you, you can support us at buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo. Just a small way to keep the show ad-free. Luna: Yeah, every little bit helps us keep making these lessons. We really appreciate it. Lucas: So back to 'ada'. Let's practice a little scene. Imagine you're at a market. You want to ask if they have apples. Luna: I'd say 'Ada epal?' – Are there apples? Lucas: Yes! And the seller might say 'Ada' or 'Tidak ada'. Easy. Luna: Nice. Okay, let me try a full sentence: 'Saya ada tiga belas epal' – I have thirteen apples. Lucas: Great number practice too! 'Tiga belas' – thirteen. So you have 13 apples. That's a lot. Luna: Well, I love apples. Okay, I think I'm ready to use 'ada' on my own. Lucas: Wonderful. Remember, 'Saya ada', 'Dia ada', 'Ada', 'Tidak ada'. Practice these and you'll be able to talk about what you have or what exists. Luna: Thanks, Lucas. And thanks to our listeners. Keep practicing with Fexingo! Lucas: See you next time. Bye!
