- 0:47Speaker 1: Leggy happy cheeze at Citrus Bold Day to wall who celebrate,
- 0:52Speaker 1: particularly Brett Beelima and Shane Biemer who apparently want to
- 0:55Speaker 1: kill each other.
- 0:55Speaker 3: Right, Yeah, I was the deal with that. Lego was
- 0:57Speaker 3: gonna ask, Hey, what was going on? I saw the
- 0:59Speaker 3: highlight on Twitter? What was the big beef about you?
- 1:02Speaker 3: Illinois guys rubbed people.
- 1:03Speaker 1: The wrong way or what Bilima rubs them all wrong?
- 1:07Speaker 2: As you know, we rubbed people the wrong way, as.
- 1:10Speaker 1: You know, yeah, no, Bilima was. He was taunting Shane
- 1:14Speaker 1: Biemer while going over to check on one of his
- 1:17Speaker 1: own injured players, Shane Bieber. It's look, he's a college
- 1:21Speaker 1: football coach. I'm sure he's got some red ass to him,
- 1:23Speaker 1: But what is he giving up on that one? Leggy
- 1:25Speaker 1: and a cool two hundred?
- 1:26Speaker 3: That is either weight class man.
- 1:31Speaker 2: If you're gonna if you're gonna wade in against the
- 1:33Speaker 2: old lineman, you better have you better have.
- 1:35Speaker 1: Some bad matchup my friend. Uh, Leggy, We've got one
- 1:39Speaker 1: game to go for the Broncos to make the postseason.
- 1:43Speaker 1: Andy and I were talking about this yesterday. If you
- 1:45Speaker 1: would have told us low back in July and August, Hey,
- 1:49Speaker 1: the Broncos will have a win in their in situation
- 1:52Speaker 1: in week eighteen, we all would have taken it. Obviously
- 1:56Speaker 1: it would have been an overachievement. But given the way
- 1:59Speaker 1: that the last two weeks have gone for this Broncos team,
- 2:03Speaker 1: given the position that they are currently in, how do
- 2:07Speaker 1: you view this? Is this disappointment that Denver hasn't clinched
- 2:11Speaker 1: already or should we still be pleased with all this
- 2:14Speaker 1: team as accomplished?
- 2:16Speaker 2: Well, I mean, they've certainly made progress, Nate. I mean,
- 2:18Speaker 2: they made a you know, unbelievable, unprecedented salary cap move.
- 2:25Speaker 2: You know, we you know, it seems like a lot
- 2:27Speaker 2: March seems a long time ago now, but when they
- 2:30Speaker 2: released Brussell Wilson, they made an unprecedented move. And to
- 2:34Speaker 2: be in the playoff micks after that is some progress.
- 2:38Speaker 2: I think the issue at the ten thousand foot level
- 2:41Speaker 2: is if they don't make it, it is now two
- 2:46Speaker 2: December fades in Sean Payton's two years. I mean last
- 2:50Speaker 2: year they lost four of the last six, three of
- 2:53Speaker 2: the last four. And then if you don't make the
- 2:56Speaker 2: playoffs this time because you lose your last three, you
- 3:01Speaker 2: know that that is two December fades for a head
- 3:04Speaker 2: coach that came in with the idea he was going
- 3:08Speaker 2: to show this franchise or bringing this franchise back, you know,
- 3:13Speaker 2: into meaningful games, and I think that would be the
- 3:16Speaker 2: dent you know in it. But certainly progress. But again,
- 3:21Speaker 2: if you don't make it, that's two December fades, and
- 3:23Speaker 2: you'd have to look at what you're doing, how you're
- 3:26Speaker 2: doing it, because even with a different cast of characters,
- 3:31Speaker 2: most notably a quarterback, you would have faded twice down
- 3:36Speaker 2: the home stretch.
- 3:38Speaker 4: Uh, Jeff, what are we going to remember about that
- 3:43Speaker 4: Cincinnati game the most?
- 3:44Speaker 3: Do you think?
- 3:45Speaker 4: Because I know you and I talked earlier. I kind
- 3:47Speaker 4: of already mentioned that on the radio or on the
- 3:49Speaker 4: radio earlier in the show, so I know you're thinking
- 3:51Speaker 4: about that two point conversion. Like Nate, I didn't know
- 3:55Speaker 4: what was going on in overtime, trying to take time
- 3:57Speaker 4: outs and throw the ball when you just need the
- 3:58Speaker 4: clock to run out in your the playoffs. I mean,
- 4:01Speaker 4: what are we going to remember most from that game?
- 4:03Speaker 4: Where was the biggest misplay?
- 4:04Speaker 1: Take your pick of these scorg of suck.
- 4:08Speaker 2: Well, I guess you know for me, and again it's
- 4:11Speaker 2: it's just the view, you know, trying to look at
- 4:14Speaker 2: it in the big picture. But he is, you know,
- 4:18Speaker 2: the head coach has spent an awful lot of time
- 4:20Speaker 2: this season talking about how his team is ready for
- 4:24Speaker 2: these moments, how he's ready for these moments and to
- 4:28Speaker 2: not go for two and put the ball back into
- 4:31Speaker 2: Joe Burrow's hands on the night Joe Burrow is having.
- 4:35Speaker 2: It's one thing if Joe Burrow is, uh, you know,
- 4:41Speaker 2: at at fifty percent and you've you've made him struggle
- 4:45Speaker 2: all night. But it's very clear one of the best
- 4:48Speaker 2: quarterbacks in the league is on a heater, uh, and
- 4:52Speaker 2: you're going to give the ball back to him or
- 4:55Speaker 2: give him an opportunity in a game that's tied at home,
- 5:00Speaker 2: and you know, had the rain that arrived, you know,
- 5:03Speaker 2: a couple hours later when we were all there, had
- 5:06Speaker 2: arrived during the game. Maybe it's a different scenario and
- 5:09Speaker 2: all of that, but you know, to me, I think,
- 5:12Speaker 2: you know, it just went against the coach's messaging. I'm
- 5:16Speaker 2: sure you can analytically make an argument for both scenarios
- 5:21Speaker 2: and succeed, but I guess I'm saying the messaging has
- 5:26Speaker 2: been in that situation, he would go for two and
- 5:31Speaker 2: he did not, So he either thought they could ride
- 5:35Speaker 2: it out in overtime and get it done. But I
- 5:38Speaker 2: didn't see the momentum that he said they had. I
- 5:42Speaker 2: only saw Joe Burrow on the other side.
- 5:44Speaker 1: No, and I completely agree with that point. We talked
- 5:46Speaker 1: about it yesterday. The touchdowns that you scored, one of
- 5:51Speaker 1: them was a fifty one yard bomb, the likes of
- 5:53Speaker 1: which you had not really connected on baby all but
- 5:56Speaker 1: once all season long. It wasn't like it came from
- 5:58Speaker 1: a sustained drive. The other was a prayer that Marvin
- 6:01Speaker 1: Mims made an unbelievable catch on. And you know, a
- 6:05Speaker 1: similar thread going back the last two games. In conservative
- 6:10Speaker 1: decisions that Peyton made was punting the ball from midfield
- 6:14Speaker 1: on a fourth down and six against the Chargers in
- 6:18Speaker 1: a game where you were trailing, and then not going
- 6:20Speaker 1: for two against the Bengals. Both of those qualified as
- 6:22Speaker 1: conservative decisions but also leggy. They were situations where you
- 6:26Speaker 1: took the ball out of your quarterback's hands when he
- 6:29Speaker 1: had a chance to make a play that could have
- 6:31Speaker 1: greatly impacted the outcome. Does this suggest a lack of
- 6:36Speaker 1: faith in bow Knicks coming from Sean Payton right now?
- 6:41Speaker 2: I don't see it, I guess, Nate, I don't see
- 6:43Speaker 2: it as a lack of faith, But I do think
- 6:45Speaker 2: it shows how vigorously he has tried to protect bow
- 6:50Speaker 2: Knicks all season. Well, you know, whether it be in
- 6:53Speaker 2: situational football, whether it be their personnel, group beings, whether
- 6:57Speaker 2: it be how much he's in the shotgun, all of it.
- 7:00Speaker 2: I think he is very He's tried very, very hard,
- 7:02Speaker 2: and I don't necessarily blame him for that. You know,
- 7:05Speaker 2: you look at what Caleb Williams is going through in Chicago,
- 7:09Speaker 2: and you're like, Okay, maybe it's not a bad idea
- 7:11Speaker 2: to protect your rookie quarterback when you get a chance.
- 7:14Speaker 2: But I do think it's a factor, whether they'll ever
- 7:18Speaker 2: admit it or not. And look, Bonix has made, you know,
- 7:25Speaker 2: great progress this season. But I do think the interception
- 7:28Speaker 2: with like two forty to play had some bearing on
- 7:32Speaker 2: the decision as well, because that was not a good
- 7:36Speaker 2: decision with the ball, and honestly, when they go over
- 7:40Speaker 2: the tape, I don't think the decision to throw it
- 7:43Speaker 2: to Mims is going to be graded out as a
- 7:45Speaker 2: good choice. But Marvin Mims just made a ridiculous catch,
- 7:50Speaker 2: the best catch of the year probably to turn that
- 7:54Speaker 2: into a touchdown. But when they grade that out, they're
- 7:57Speaker 2: not going to grade that as a good decision by
- 8:00Speaker 2: the quarterback. And I think that that all influenced, you know,
- 8:04Speaker 2: what he's thinking in the closing minutes there. But it's
- 8:07Speaker 2: not very often you see a four possession overtime, honestly,
- 8:11Speaker 2: and you know, again, I didn't see though momentum, and
- 8:15Speaker 2: they proved it. They had two three and outs in overtime,
- 8:18Speaker 2: just you know, that's just not getting it done. And
- 8:21Speaker 2: you're not only did your defense get Burrow off the
- 8:24Speaker 2: field once, but then you gave him another crack at it,
- 8:26Speaker 2: and that's just too much to ask.
- 8:29Speaker 3: All right, let's turn to Kansas City. Uh, it is
- 8:32Speaker 3: what it is. They can't go back and do it.
- 8:34Speaker 4: You know, at the time, I didn't think it was
- 8:37Speaker 4: a bad decision to go in and take the Thursday
- 8:38Speaker 4: night er. I would be curious to get Sean Payton
- 8:40Speaker 4: alone and let him be truthful and tell me to
- 8:43Speaker 4: regret the decision.
- 8:44Speaker 3: Now, I don't know whatever.
- 8:45Speaker 2: I think.
- 8:45Speaker 3: I still would have.
- 8:46Speaker 4: Made the same the same decision at the time, but
- 8:48Speaker 4: it doesn't seem to have worked out, losing both those games.
- 8:51Speaker 4: So now they faced Kansas City team that's famously going
- 8:53Speaker 4: to sit a lot of their starters. We would think,
- 8:59Speaker 4: what are the Broncos need to be cautious.
- 9:01Speaker 3: Of going into this game Sunday? How about I put
- 9:04Speaker 3: it there?
- 9:06Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean I don't look at the depth chart.
- 9:08Speaker 2: I guess that's what I would say. Don't worry about
- 9:10Speaker 2: who Kansas City's playing and handle your business. Because Kansas
- 9:16Speaker 2: City has a roster full of players that have been
- 9:20Speaker 2: nothing but around big games for season after season after season,
- 9:26Speaker 2: and that bleeds into an entire team. The Broncos have
- 9:30Speaker 2: eleven players on their current roster who've been in a
- 9:33Speaker 2: playoff game. Eleven. They've only had three guys who've played
- 9:37Speaker 2: in the Super Bowl. None of their homegrown players have
- 9:41Speaker 2: ever worn the uniform in a playoff game. So this
- 9:44Speaker 2: notion that it's a walkover because the Chiefs might play
- 9:48Speaker 2: some subs, I think is a horrific place to put
- 9:53Speaker 2: your mind, and I think Sean Payton will certainly and
- 9:58Speaker 2: should do whatever is necessary to avoid letting anyone think
- 10:03Speaker 2: that way, because again, this team, they've had two sort
- 10:07Speaker 2: of maturity tests. You know, where are you at in
- 10:10Speaker 2: terms of football maturity? And they didn't pass either of
- 10:14Speaker 2: them the last two weeks. You know, a playoff ready team,
- 10:20Speaker 2: you know, ready right now for the playoffs. I think
- 10:23Speaker 2: wins one of those two games, both one score games,
- 10:26Speaker 2: one of them in overtime. You know they were right there.
- 10:30Speaker 2: But to get that last couple plays that mean something,
- 10:34Speaker 2: you know, that shows some football maturity and you know
- 10:37Speaker 2: they got to show that this week. And you know,
- 10:39Speaker 2: to your question, they cannot even get close to the
- 10:43Speaker 2: thought of worrying about who's playing for the Chiefs because again,
- 10:48Speaker 2: that's just a roster full of players that have been
- 10:51Speaker 2: around big situations and a tough one for Andy Reid
- 10:55Speaker 2: because it could be twenty three days between games for
- 11:00Speaker 2: anybody you sit, you know, from Christmas to the divisional round,
- 11:05Speaker 2: and I think that's a tough decision for a head
- 11:07Speaker 2: coach about what to do, even for a teams as
- 11:11Speaker 2: accomplished as the Chiefs are.
- 11:13Speaker 1: Jeth Legwald, he's on the ramos Law Hotline car accident.
- 11:16Speaker 1: You need ramos Law medical doctor and attorney. Visit ramos
- 11:19Speaker 1: Law dot com. Leggie, once you were able to dive
- 11:22Speaker 1: into the film, what was your evaluation of Riley Moss's
- 11:26Speaker 1: performance on Saturday against the Bengals and where is he
- 11:30Speaker 1: at coming down the stretch Because I think if we've
- 11:32Speaker 1: learned anything over the back half of the season, it's
- 11:34Speaker 1: the importance of Riley Moss.
- 11:36Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, I saw what I expected physically ready
- 11:40Speaker 2: to go. I mean, he showed the knee was sturdy,
- 11:43Speaker 2: he could make the moves he wanted. But you're rusty,
- 11:46Speaker 2: and you know there's probably three teams you don't want
- 11:50Speaker 2: to come back as a corner after a month off,
- 11:54Speaker 2: and guess what that was one of the three. I
- 11:56Speaker 2: mean that's I mean, they got three receivers who would
- 11:59Speaker 2: be leading the Broncos and touchdown catches right now. Three
- 12:03Speaker 2: and you know, one guy's leading everything, you know, in
- 12:06Speaker 2: the entire league. So and you know, the Bengals did what,
- 12:11Speaker 2: you know, they were merciless. I mean, they went for
- 12:14Speaker 2: They went after Riley Moss from the first snap. Even
- 12:17Speaker 2: in run plays, they were pushing run plays to Riley Moss.
- 12:21Speaker 2: I mean there was a point where I think Moss
- 12:23Speaker 2: had ten of the Broncos fourteen tackles in the game
- 12:27Speaker 2: at one point. I mean, it was just they were
- 12:30Speaker 2: just merciless. And you know, to his credit, he said
- 12:34Speaker 2: after the game, you know, I just there were some
- 12:37Speaker 2: technical you know, how far you drop, how do you
- 12:40Speaker 2: come out of your back pedal, all of those things. Technically,
- 12:45Speaker 2: we're just not quite there. He's still you know, I
- 12:47Speaker 2: give the guy credit. He was still scrapping deep in
- 12:50Speaker 2: overtime and making tackles and all those things. That shows
- 12:53Speaker 2: you what kind of player he is. But uh, you know,
- 12:57Speaker 2: he's not the best player in the Broncos defense, but
- 12:59Speaker 2: he is one of the most important because it is
- 13:03Speaker 2: hard work. I saw an awful lot of guys crumble
- 13:07Speaker 2: across from champ Bailey. You know, Darren Williams was a
- 13:09Speaker 2: special case and that he had the mental capability to
- 13:15Speaker 2: play there. That's what Riley Moss is, the patser Tan.
- 13:18Speaker 2: Riley Moss has the athletic ability and the mental ability
- 13:23Speaker 2: to survive. But that was a tough way to come back.
- 13:26Speaker 2: I don't think it it shows any regression as him
- 13:30Speaker 2: as a player. I just it shows you at the
- 13:33Speaker 2: NFL level, missing a month, it's not easy. All right?
- 13:36Speaker 3: What do you think of those Pro Bowl announcements today?
- 13:38Speaker 3: I believe it was Benito in certain if I saw
- 13:41Speaker 3: right right? Is that is that how it's gonna go down?
- 13:43Speaker 3: Zach Allen gonna get in there? What do we think
- 13:44Speaker 3: of this?
- 13:46Speaker 2: Well, I mean it's uh, I guess Thursday is the fourth.
- 13:49Speaker 3: Okay, so this is the updated vote vote and.
- 13:51Speaker 2: The fan voting get you know, you know, I hope
- 13:55Speaker 2: Zach Allen gets you know, you know, Sir Tan's gonna
- 13:58Speaker 2: get it, and certainly you'd like to see Benito get it.
- 14:01Speaker 2: And usually the SAC leaders get the votes, you know,
- 14:06Speaker 2: but I'd like to see Zach Allen for what he's
- 14:08Speaker 2: done in a tough position and doing a lot of
- 14:12Speaker 2: the dirty work in there. But he's an all he's
- 14:15Speaker 2: having an all pro season.
- 14:16Speaker 1: Let alone problem, Leggy looking at your crystal ball really quickly.
- 14:21Speaker 1: And I always love asking Jeff leg all these questions
- 14:24Speaker 1: because he loves wild speculation. It's one of his favorite things. Okay,
- 14:29Speaker 1: is there anybody when you look around this organization right now,
- 14:33Speaker 1: is there anybody that you say, don't be surprised if
- 14:38Speaker 1: this guy's not back next year. Is there anyone that
- 14:42Speaker 1: you could see maybe being a surprise departure from the Broncos.
- 14:47Speaker 2: I don't know if it's a surprise, but I guess
- 14:49Speaker 2: last off season makes me wonder about Portland Sutton. You know,
- 14:54Speaker 2: you now that said they did circle back on Garrett
- 14:59Speaker 2: Boll They were fully positioned to let garat Bulls walk
- 15:04Speaker 2: and did circle back, you know, I think in the
- 15:08Speaker 2: right move because they were not going to get an
- 15:11Speaker 2: improvement if they let Gary Bols go. And I think
- 15:15Speaker 2: Sutton is in that position because they now they added
- 15:19Speaker 2: voidable years to his deal after the the off season impass,
- 15:24Speaker 2: which is kind of a weird signal too for you
- 15:27Speaker 2: know a guy you took the hard line approach with.
- 15:31Speaker 2: I mean, they gave him some bonuses, but they didn't
- 15:33Speaker 2: rework that deal, and Courtland Sutton very much wanted them
- 15:38Speaker 2: to rework that deal. So I am intrigued to see
- 15:42Speaker 2: what that off season looks like. And I think you
- 15:47Speaker 2: got to get Benito done before the market is in play,
- 15:51Speaker 2: and you may have to, you know, quote unquote overpay him,
- 15:55Speaker 2: but you know, I think if you're gonna be I
- 15:59Speaker 2: think if they're there's a lesson the Broncos should take
- 16:01Speaker 2: away from this year, and it's not one Sean Payton
- 16:05Speaker 2: has lived with a lot in his career is homegrown
- 16:09Speaker 2: players can help you become what you want to be. Yeah,
- 16:13Speaker 2: in the salary cap era. And they've had six of
- 16:16Speaker 2: seven guys in a draft class play a game this year,
- 16:20Speaker 2: and obviously Bo Nicks, Rodrick Estimay, you know, Jonah Ellis
- 16:27Speaker 2: have had you know, important parts of all this. But
- 16:32Speaker 2: you know, homegrown players need to be a priority, and
- 16:35Speaker 2: they always weren't in New Orleans. So that's what I
- 16:39Speaker 2: keep my eye on here moving forward. How do they
- 16:43Speaker 2: treat the homegrown players? And obviously Courtland Sutton's one of
- 16:47Speaker 2: the longest tenured guys.
- 16:49Speaker 1: Jeff Legwald. Everybody ESPN dot com read his stuff right there.
- 16:53Speaker 1: Jeff Legwald always joins us via the International Brotherhood of
- 16:57Speaker 1: Electrical Workers IBW Local sixty eight. With a job and
- 17:01Speaker 1: with a career. Jeff Legwald, you are a cheese at
- 17:04Speaker 1: Citrus Bowl champion. Thank you, my friend.
- 17:07Speaker 2: Made I think it's very clear that's the most important
- 17:09Speaker 2: bowl game of the of the bowl season.
- 17:11Speaker 4: Really, because Brom looked like he enjoyed his frosted flakes
- 17:15Speaker 4: bath and then he had Tony the Tiger kind of
- 17:17Speaker 4: leering near him, and that was all weird.
- 17:21Speaker 2: Everyone knows if you're not playing for Tabasco, Jesus, it's
- 17:25Speaker 2: not worth it.
- 17:26Speaker 3: No, no, it's pop Tarts. Pop Tarts is the way
- 17:28Speaker 3: to go.
- 17:28Speaker 1: Bacon and white cheddar, my friend, Thank you, Jeff Legwald,
- 17:31Speaker 1: Jeff Legwald, everybody with us right there on a lovely
- 17:35Speaker 1: Tuesday afternoon,
