- 0:00Hello friends! Welcome back to Wonderfully Made,
- 0:04Bible Stories for Children. I'm so glad you're
- 0:08here. Last time, we heard how God gave Moses
- 0:13the Ten Commandments, his special rules for how
- 0:16his people should live. But while Moses was up
- 0:19on the mountain, something very sad happened.
- 0:23Today, we'll hear what the people did while they
- 0:27waited. and how they forgot the God who had rescued
- 0:31them. Are you ready? Let's begin. Moses stayed
- 0:47on Mount Sinai for a long time, 40 days and 40
- 0:52nights. God was giving him more instructions.
- 0:56And Moses was listening carefully. But down below,
- 1:00the Israelites were getting restless. They looked
- 1:04up at the mountain and saw clouds and thunder.
- 1:07But they didn't see Moses. They started to wonder.
- 1:13Is he ever coming back? What if something happened
- 1:17to him? Instead of trusting God and waiting patiently,
- 1:22the Israelites came to Aaron and told him they
- 1:25didn't know what had happened to Moses. Since
- 1:29it had been so long, they asked Aaron to make
- 1:32gods to lead them instead. And sadly, Aaron listened.
- 1:39He told the people to bring him their gold earrings.
- 1:43They melted the gold and shaped it into the form
- 1:46of a young cow, a calf. Then Aaron said, Here
- 1:52is your God who brought you out of Egypt. And
- 1:56the people began to worship the golden calf.
- 2:00They sang and danced and had a big party. But
- 2:04they weren't praising the real God. They had
- 2:08already forgotten the God who had saved them,
- 2:11the one who parted the Red Sea and sent food
- 2:14from heaven. On the mountain, God told Moses,
- 2:21The people have turned away from me, they are
- 2:24worshipping an idol. So Moses went down the mountain,
- 2:29carrying the two stone tablets with the ten commandments.
- 2:34When he reached the camp, he saw the people dancing
- 2:38around the golden calf. Moses was heartbroken
- 2:42and angry. He threw the tablets down, and they
- 2:46broke into pieces. Then Moses destroyed the golden
- 2:54calf. He reminded the people that there is only
- 2:57one true God, the one who brought them out of
- 3:01slavery. Can you imagine? God had done so many
- 3:11amazing things for the Israelites, but they got
- 3:14impatient. And instead of waiting and trusting,
- 3:19they chose their own way. Sometimes we do that
- 3:23too. We forget to pray or we stop trusting when
- 3:27things don't happen quickly. But God wants us
- 3:32to remember who he is, even when waiting is hard.
- 3:37God's people had made a big mistake. But God
- 3:42didn't give up on them. Moses prayed and asked
- 3:46God to forgive them. And even though the people
- 3:49had sinned, God still loved them. He was willing
- 3:53to give them another chance. That's what God
- 3:57does for us too. We might mess up, forget, or
- 4:02make wrong choices. But when we turn back to
- 4:05God, He is ready to forgive us and help us start
- 4:09again. Let's think about some things together.
- 4:15Have you ever made a choice because you were
- 4:18tired of waiting? What helps you remember to
- 4:24trust God when you can't see what he's doing?
- 4:29Is there something today you want to ask God
- 4:32to help you wait for with patience? Even when
- 4:37we forget, God never forgets us. His love is
- 4:42steady, strong, and forever. Thanks for joining
- 4:47me today. Next time. we'll hear about how God
- 4:52stayed with his people and gave them a very special
- 4:55way to be near him, a beautiful tent called the
- 4:59tabernacle. What was it for? And how did it help
- 5:03the people worship God? Until then, remember,
- 5:08you are wonderfully made, and God is with you
- 5:11every step of the way. Bye for now.
