- 3:49Speaker 1: But before we do anything, we definitely have to go
- 3:52Speaker 1: to God in prayer. Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for

- 4:23Speaker 2: That you have for us. Let us be in your
- 4:26Speaker 2: will and not in ours.
- 4:27Speaker 1: And let us get out of your way for everything
- 4:29Speaker 1: that you have that is destined for us. Let us
- 4:32Speaker 1: walk in the purpose that you have created each of
- 4:34Speaker 1: us to be, and let us not be shy for
- 4:37Speaker 1: what it is that you have called us to do.
- 4:39Speaker 2: And your person's and Holy name Jesus, I pray amen.
- 4:43Speaker 2: And now can we please bring up my guest.
- 4:47Speaker 1: Hello, Nay, how are you?
- 4:50Speaker 2: I am good? How are you?
- 4:53Speaker 1: I am blessed. Thank you so much for having me.
- 4:57Speaker 2: Of course, it is a wonderful thing to be here.
- 5:01Speaker 1: I want you to tell the guests a little bit
- 5:03Speaker 1: more about you, and then we're gonna talk about this book. Okay.
- 5:08Speaker 1: So my name is Sarren McLamore and I am a
- 5:12Speaker 1: first time self published author. So I wrote my first book,
- 5:19Speaker 1: Cause Shining through my journey with incontentity of pignity. So,
- 5:25Speaker 1: of course I'm sure you guys are like, what is that.
- 5:29Speaker 1: First of all, my passion is to uplift, inspire and
- 5:33Speaker 1: encourage people, So I wanted to look for a way
- 5:37Speaker 1: to be able to do that, and God definitely heard
- 5:42Speaker 1: my prayer because this was the way that I could
- 5:45Speaker 1: do that, not ever thinking that this would ever be
- 5:48Speaker 1: my own journey.
- 5:49Speaker 2: But.
- 5:51Speaker 1: Nevertheless it's a blessing to be able to do it.
- 5:55Speaker 1: The process for me was so smooth. And the inspiration
- 5:59Speaker 1: behind this book is my daughter. So my daughter was
- 6:03Speaker 1: born with this rare genetic condition, and I realized that
- 6:07Speaker 1: a lot of people just simply didn't know what it was.
- 6:12Speaker 1: I never heard of it, and I always felt like
- 6:15Speaker 1: I had a story to tell. So one day I
- 6:18Speaker 1: just said, I want to write a book. I want
- 6:21Speaker 1: to write a children's book. And I actually already had
- 6:24Speaker 1: a written out. Believe it or not, I felt like
- 6:27Speaker 1: I had, you know, let me just get these thoughts
- 6:29Speaker 1: on paper, all right. That is how this came along.
- 6:35Speaker 1: Never did I think I would be having me on
- 6:40Speaker 1: my first book, But it's been such an amazing, such
- 6:45Speaker 1: a rewarding experience, and the people that I've met, the
- 6:50Speaker 1: people that I've got to me being here with you,
- 6:53Speaker 1: it's just that the journey. Listen, I understand, like when
- 6:58Speaker 1: you want to tell people about something that you've been
- 7:02Speaker 1: going through yourself, you don't realize that you have all
- 7:05Speaker 1: of the information to write a book like you've done,
- 7:09Speaker 1: and you've put all of those information, all the information together,
- 7:14Speaker 1: and you put it in a way to where not
- 7:18Speaker 1: only younger kids can read it, but adults can get
- 7:21Speaker 1: a better understanding of what it is as well. And
- 7:25Speaker 1: that's the beautiful part about it is fun and it's
- 7:28Speaker 1: educational at the same time. And it also includes your
- 7:32Speaker 1: daughter in a way that she probably never thought that
- 7:35Speaker 1: she would have an impact on anybody either.
- 7:38Speaker 2: Right, But.
- 7:42Speaker 1: About it is that while it is a children's book,
- 7:45Speaker 1: I believe that it can impact or inspire anybody, you know,
- 7:49Speaker 1: especially though with differences. The whole goal is just to
- 7:54Speaker 1: teach that important concept of self love and just teach
- 7:58Speaker 1: people to embrace those differences because that's my life. I
- 8:03Speaker 1: have to teach my daughter to embrace this difference because
- 8:07Speaker 1: it's you know, it's something that she'll go through for
- 8:09Speaker 1: the rest of her life. So being able to just
- 8:13Speaker 1: encourage her encourages me too. So okay, well, Alaska, I
- 8:18Speaker 1: know that you mentioned that it is a genetic condition.
- 8:22Speaker 1: Did it come from it like, is it one gene
- 8:26Speaker 1: like father or is it mother?
- 8:28Speaker 2: Females that carry the trait for this condition.
- 8:32Speaker 1: So it is a exce link dominant, So the condition
- 8:37Speaker 1: is passed from mother to daughter, and fathers cannot pass
- 8:41Speaker 1: it to their daughters. It's very very rare for a
- 8:46Speaker 1: father to pass it to their daughter. Now what's interesting
- 8:49Speaker 1: is I got tested and I do not have the gene. Okay,
- 8:55Speaker 1: so she we're still just trying to figure out how
- 8:58Speaker 1: she got it, but at the same time, we've educated
- 9:01Speaker 1: ourselves about it. So the condition is it's a it's
- 9:06Speaker 1: a condition that impacts the skin, so it's a skin condition,
- 9:10Speaker 1: but it also can impact your eyes, so your eyesight.
- 9:16Speaker 1: It can also unpack your hair, so alopecia. It can
- 9:19Speaker 1: also unpack your like the way your teeth rows, so
- 9:22Speaker 1: you can have your seat teeth or pet shaped teeth,
- 9:25Speaker 1: or you can have like pitted or rough fingernails and
- 9:30Speaker 1: toe nails. And then of course it impacts the central
- 9:33Speaker 1: nervous system. So there's a mile to severe part of
- 9:38Speaker 1: the condition, and my daughter actually has a severe part
- 9:41Speaker 1: of it. So there's a lot of different steps that
- 9:44Speaker 1: we have to take for her just because she has
- 9:47Speaker 1: the more severe part of the condition. Okay, I know
- 9:51Speaker 1: that I was reading that that it starts in infancy
- 9:55Speaker 1: and then it goes into different stages through. Wow, and
- 10:00Speaker 1: I read about the alopecia, the teeth, the nails, and
- 10:04Speaker 1: all of those different things that come along with that.
- 10:08Speaker 1: That is a complicated and complex thing to deal with.
- 10:13Speaker 1: And I know when you first had the diagnosis, I
- 10:16Speaker 1: know that there was some overwhelmingness that you felt when
- 10:20Speaker 1: getting all of.
- 10:21Speaker 2: This information, and you're like, Okay, what is this?
- 10:24Speaker 1: How do I even start to tackle And when she's
- 10:28Speaker 1: old enough, how do I even explain to her what
- 10:31Speaker 1: it is that she's going to have to endure and
- 10:34Speaker 1: go through, And how am I going to explain it
- 10:37Speaker 1: in a way that's age appropriate for her.
- 10:41Speaker 2: I'm sure those were some of.
- 10:42Speaker 1: Your questions, you know what, You hit it right on it, like,
- 10:47Speaker 1: I couldn't even have said that better. Because she's my
- 10:50Speaker 1: first born, so being the first mother, there were no
- 10:54Speaker 1: warning signs. There were no warning signs that hey, something's
- 10:58Speaker 1: going to be different, you know when she comes. So
- 11:03Speaker 1: the first couple of days of her life, like the
- 11:06Speaker 1: first three days. You know you're having your baby and
- 11:10Speaker 1: you're leaving in three days, right, But for us that
- 11:14Speaker 1: wasn't the case. The first day was wonderful. That was
- 11:18Speaker 1: second that's when things just started to change, and we
- 11:22Speaker 1: noticed she actually had a stroke the second day. Oh wow, Yeah,
- 11:28Speaker 1: she had a stroke the second day, and then also
- 11:32Speaker 1: the third day, the nurses noticed that she was a
- 11:36Speaker 1: little fussier than normal and she had air and her intestines,
- 11:42Speaker 1: oh and which I've never heard of. So I can
- 11:46Speaker 1: imagine me being the first time, like I said, hearing
- 11:50Speaker 1: these things, and emotions, of course were all over the place.
- 11:54Speaker 1: I had to have an emergency C section with her. Okay, yeah,
- 11:58Speaker 1: I was in labor for forty eight hours and I
- 12:01Speaker 1: ended up spiking of fever and that aft her heart
- 12:04Speaker 1: rate to go up and her to be distressed. So
- 12:07Speaker 1: of course I had to have So that was also
- 12:10Speaker 1: devastating because you know, you go in with the plan. Yeah,
- 12:14Speaker 1: I had a completely different plan.
- 12:16Speaker 2: All three of them had a different one day child.
- 12:22Speaker 1: But you know, after hearing it, obviously it definitely was
- 12:27Speaker 1: something that we didn't want to happen. But at the
- 12:30Speaker 1: same time, you know, we're we're grateful. I'm grateful that
- 12:34Speaker 1: it was me they got to experience it because it
- 12:37Speaker 1: just within my relationship and God stood in my face
- 12:40Speaker 1: a walk. I had to turn to him like that
- 12:45Speaker 1: was the only way that I was going to get
- 12:48Speaker 1: through it. While sometimes people say, you know, why me,
- 12:54Speaker 1: but also why not me? Because he also both my
- 12:57Speaker 1: heart and my passion is to to help people. So
- 13:01Speaker 1: whether it's ear, I always say I can give the
- 13:05Speaker 1: best advice, but great and so able to just shed
- 13:13Speaker 1: like you know, on the condition and then just also
- 13:16Speaker 1: to help other parents and other mothers and fathers suit
- 13:20Speaker 1: because they go through it too, right, you know, through
- 13:23Speaker 1: it and just be able to share my journey while
- 13:26Speaker 1: also encouraging. It's never easy. You know, you don't want
- 13:29Speaker 1: to your kids, you know, struggle, you don't want to
- 13:33Speaker 1: see your you know, you don't want to see any
- 13:34Speaker 1: of that. But it look to God be the glory.
- 13:39Speaker 1: He literally is carrying us through it. And even with
- 13:44Speaker 1: this book being able to tell the story, it's so rewarning.
- 13:47Speaker 1: I've included her in the entire process. It's bringing her
- 13:52Speaker 1: confidence out, which is it's so rewarding because it's even
- 13:55Speaker 1: bringing you know, making her confidence. And she calls it
- 13:59Speaker 1: our book, which I love it too, yes, yes, yeah,
- 14:04Speaker 1: so yeah, you definitely hit that right on the head.
- 14:06Speaker 1: It's been a journey. That's why I call it Shining
- 14:08Speaker 1: through my journey because it's journey always yeah, and it's
- 14:13Speaker 1: definitely going to be one that continues.
- 14:16Speaker 2: The thing that you said.
- 14:18Speaker 1: Is it's been a blessing for you because it's always
- 14:22Speaker 1: when you start to go through something that you don't
- 14:25Speaker 1: understand why you've been put in that situation, and it's
- 14:28Speaker 1: always that first question that we go to and.
- 14:30Speaker 2: Say, well, why is this happening to me? But instead of.
- 14:33Speaker 1: Doing that and wallowing in that, you turn to God
- 14:37Speaker 1: and said, Okay, I'm glad that you gave this to me,
- 14:40Speaker 1: because I'm the one that's going to be able to
- 14:42Speaker 1: deal with it in a way that's not only only
- 14:45Speaker 1: going to be beneficial for me, but.
- 14:46Speaker 2: For all others around me.
- 14:49Speaker 1: And that's one thing that I tell people about myself
- 14:52Speaker 1: is that having a stroke and also having KIRII my information,
- 14:57Speaker 1: having that at thirty years old, it was my blos
- 15:00Speaker 1: lessing and my curse, you know, And it's been able
- 15:04Speaker 1: to push me into spaces that I never thought I
- 15:06Speaker 1: would be in me talking to you right.
- 15:09Speaker 2: Now on this podcast.
- 15:10Speaker 1: Child, Now, I'm gonna tell you this was never something
- 15:14Speaker 1: I thought I would be doing in a million years
- 15:17Speaker 1: because I'm not a people person per se when it
- 15:21Speaker 1: comes to this kind of stuff. I can talk to anybody,
- 15:25Speaker 1: that's not a problem. But being in a space to
- 15:28Speaker 1: where this is the norm for me, oh no, I'm
- 15:32Speaker 1: gonna be in a back corner waiting for somebody to
- 15:35Speaker 1: actually interact with me. And I'm like, okay, because when
- 15:39Speaker 1: I was going through all of that at one time,
- 15:41Speaker 1: because I was told that I had a stroke, I
- 15:44Speaker 1: was told that I had a brain aneurysm, I was
- 15:46Speaker 1: told that I have.
- 15:48Speaker 2: Keyr information, all in the span of thirty days, and
- 15:53Speaker 2: it was like, Okay, what am I supposed to do
- 15:56Speaker 2: with this information?
- 15:57Speaker 1: No one has ever heard of this condition number one
- 16:00Speaker 1: that I know of.
- 16:01Speaker 2: I don't even know how to spell it.
- 16:03Speaker 1: I don't even know how to really say it right,
- 16:05Speaker 1: And now I gotta deal with this.
- 16:08Speaker 2: But then realizing I have.
- 16:10Speaker 1: Been dealing with this my whole life because this is
- 16:11Speaker 1: a genetic condition as well, but there's no cure for it. Also,
- 16:16Speaker 1: it's like, okay, you do who, what, when?
- 16:21Speaker 2: Where?
- 16:21Speaker 6: Why?
- 16:22Speaker 1: All of these questions, And so I started doing research
- 16:25Speaker 1: and I'm like, okay, well this makes sense, this makes sense.
- 16:28Speaker 2: Okay, this is here, this is there.
- 16:30Speaker 1: But you go and you learn that God has not
- 16:34Speaker 1: put you in a place that he's not gonna provide
- 16:37Speaker 1: you with everything that you need to get through it.
- 16:39Speaker 1: And when we start to understand no matter what we're
- 16:42Speaker 1: going through in this life, God has already planned out
- 16:45Speaker 1: every step of what it is that we're gonna encounter
- 16:47Speaker 1: and what we're gonna go through. So everything that you
- 16:50Speaker 1: need is already inside of you. You just got to
- 16:53Speaker 1: figure out how he wants you to utilize it. And
- 16:56Speaker 1: when you start walking and paying attention to what He's
- 16:59Speaker 1: telling you to do, you start to move in that direction,
- 17:02Speaker 1: which is what led you to writing this book, so
- 17:06Speaker 1: you can also help other people but also be in
- 17:10Speaker 1: a space to where you're helping and healing and learning
- 17:14Speaker 1: along the way.
- 17:15Speaker 2: Is that something that you felt when.
- 17:18Speaker 1: You were going through this process and beginning the process
- 17:21Speaker 1: of actually compiling the book and putting it together, because
- 17:25Speaker 1: you had wrote it a long time ago when you
- 17:27Speaker 1: started doing your research, you just didn't really know what
- 17:30Speaker 1: you had. You know what, It's great that you say that,
- 17:34Speaker 1: because I found a notebook that probably I want to
- 17:40Speaker 1: say after actually why she was the NICKI So while
- 17:44Speaker 1: she was I had already started writing just from the beginning,
- 17:49Speaker 1: and that I was able to go back to refer to.
- 17:53Speaker 1: The crazy part about it is when I reached out.
- 17:57Speaker 1: So of course I didn't I didn't know nothing about writing.
- 18:03Speaker 1: I didn't know the first step, but I just knew that,
- 18:06Speaker 1: you know, I've heard people talk about self publishing. So
- 18:08Speaker 1: I ended up reaching out to a couple people and
- 18:13Speaker 1: the company that I chose to go with, ex Leeblers Publishing.
- 18:17Speaker 1: I just shared, I wrote through. Like I said, I
- 18:20Speaker 1: wrote the rough draft and I didn't really you know,
- 18:21Speaker 1: proof read. I just want to get my thoughts out
- 18:24Speaker 1: and even sharing the story with her, I just get
- 18:27Speaker 1: this long email about how much that it just impacted
- 18:32Speaker 1: her and just helped her. And it was even then
- 18:36Speaker 1: it blew my mind because a lot of people may
- 18:41Speaker 1: think of like the monetary part of a book, but
- 18:44Speaker 1: for me, it was never that. It was I want
- 18:48Speaker 1: to I just want to educate people about this, about this.
- 18:53Speaker 1: I want to be able to just encourage those people,
- 18:57Speaker 1: those parents, because you know, sometimes stuff like this it's
- 19:00Speaker 1: hard to accept, it's hard to take, it's hard to accept.
- 19:05Speaker 1: And just being able to say, hey, like I understand,
- 19:10Speaker 1: like I'm here with you. So I think that just
- 19:13Speaker 1: creates that community for people. And I think that That's
- 19:17Speaker 1: what we need because at first, a lot of people
- 19:19Speaker 1: didn't even know the full story. They just knew that
- 19:22Speaker 1: she had this weird condition. They didn't know about the
- 19:25Speaker 1: strokes and the seizures, and she had to have a
- 19:28Speaker 1: colossity bad because she the air in antestine, that she
- 19:32Speaker 1: had a hole in the rectum like those things. A
- 19:35Speaker 1: lot of people they don't know the details. And this
- 19:40Speaker 1: is just the beginning. Because you know, I wanted to
- 19:43Speaker 1: I wanted to be a children but I didn't want
- 19:45Speaker 1: it to be a long but I wanted to introduce it.
- 19:48Speaker 1: I wanted to introduce my daughter. I wanted to introduce
- 19:51Speaker 1: the condition. So yes, the ability to just be able
- 19:55Speaker 1: to say, hey, I can help heal somebody. I can help,
- 19:58Speaker 1: you know, help somebody get through it. Period, even though
- 20:02Speaker 1: you know you have a condition, that doesn't mean you
- 20:05Speaker 1: can't win. It doesn't mean right, that doesn't mean that
- 20:09Speaker 1: you can't you can't you know, succeed. It might be
- 20:13Speaker 1: a different it might take a different journey, it might
- 20:16Speaker 1: take a little bit longer, but you keep going in
- 20:21Speaker 1: as long as you have that support system, which my
- 20:24Speaker 1: support system has been phenomenal, Like I cannot even though
- 20:28Speaker 1: it's family, my church family. I make sure, I say
- 20:31Speaker 1: think because they don't have to support. They don't have to,
- 20:36Speaker 1: but it means so much just to have that behind me,
- 20:41Speaker 1: just being able to share this and to be able
- 20:44Speaker 1: to you know, get this out there. Yeah, that's a
- 20:47Speaker 1: major thing I think that helps when you are dealing
- 20:51Speaker 1: with health issues is the support that you have that's
- 20:54Speaker 1: behind you, because it will make or break you in
- 20:57Speaker 1: some sense. It's because you're carrying the way of dealing
- 21:01Speaker 1: with it on one end, and then if you don't
- 21:05Speaker 1: have that support, it's like, Okay, what am I supposed
- 21:07Speaker 1: to do When there's a day where you don't even
- 21:10Speaker 1: have anything to give in any capacity, But you have
- 21:15Speaker 1: that support around you, that's gonna uplift you and they're
- 21:18Speaker 1: gonna start refilling that battery, refilling that cup and doing
- 21:22Speaker 1: everything that you need to say. Okay, I thank you
- 21:26Speaker 1: for coming in and being what I couldn't be in
- 21:29Speaker 1: that moment, for giving me what I needed to get
- 21:33Speaker 1: over here in this space to be where I needed
- 21:36Speaker 1: to be for her. Also, the other thing is the
- 21:40Speaker 1: education part is always the one that we seem to.
- 21:47Speaker 2: Get so wrapped up in. It's trying to.
- 21:49Speaker 1: Make sure that it's we give the education in a
- 21:53Speaker 1: space to where that it's going to be understood, to
- 21:56Speaker 1: where it's not overwhelming, not using a lot of medical terminology,
- 22:00Speaker 1: because people don't understand when you're using medical terminology, especially
- 22:04Speaker 1: if you work in the medical field. Like I work
- 22:07Speaker 1: in the medical field, but I don't like to talk
- 22:09Speaker 1: to people with medical terms because just because I know
- 22:13Speaker 1: what this word means doesn't mean that you're gonna know
- 22:15Speaker 1: what it means. So I could say, Okay, you got
- 22:17Speaker 1: a laceration on your femur.
- 22:20Speaker 2: Who knows all of that? You know?
- 22:22Speaker 1: You cut your leg, you know, and you need some stitches.
- 22:26Speaker 1: You don't need all this extra mumbo jumble. Just tell
- 22:29Speaker 1: me how many stitches you're gonna put in my leg?
- 22:31Speaker 1: Are you gonna use stitches? Are you gonna use staples?
- 22:33Speaker 1: Like that's what you need.
- 22:34Speaker 2: Know, you don't need to know how the extra stuff.
- 22:36Speaker 2: Just get to the point.
- 22:38Speaker 1: So when you're talking and education, educating people on what
- 22:44Speaker 1: it is that you're dealing with, it can get overwhelming
- 22:49Speaker 1: in a sense of am I saying this in a
- 22:52Speaker 1: way that it can be relatable and they're not so
- 22:56Speaker 1: confused on what I'm talking about? Because you don't want
- 23:00Speaker 1: to leave them in a space to where they're asking
- 23:02Speaker 1: more questions than they started out with. Like they have
- 23:07Speaker 1: four questions to begin with, now they got fifteen, and
- 23:11Speaker 1: you're like, Okay, I thought I was very direct in here,
- 23:16Speaker 1: but then you added seventeen other little spaces and now
- 23:19Speaker 1: they don't got to these fifteen questions and you I
- 23:22Speaker 1: just started out with four. That's all I want these
- 23:26Speaker 1: four questions answer. But now that you intrigue me enough
- 23:29Speaker 1: to where Okay, I gotta read some more, I gotta
- 23:33Speaker 1: do some more research.
- 23:34Speaker 2: I gotta do this, and I gotta do that.
- 23:36Speaker 1: But rare conditions are always so complicated.
- 23:41Speaker 2: And I tell people all the time, with me.
- 23:43Speaker 1: If anything can be complicated, it's going to be with me,
- 23:47Speaker 1: because I am number one.
- 23:48Speaker 2: I am four eight, so I'm very short.
- 23:52Speaker 1: So when it comes to that it's going to be
- 23:55Speaker 1: a rare condition, it's going to be me that has it.
- 23:58Speaker 1: If it's going to be something that has to do
- 24:00Speaker 1: with something that you've never ever heard of, never seen,
- 24:03Speaker 1: never tried, I never done any Oh, it's.
- 24:05Speaker 2: Gonna be with me.
- 24:06Speaker 6: Because one other thing.
- 24:07Speaker 1: Like I have the hiccups every single day. My hiccups
- 24:10Speaker 1: are not normal. They sound like I can't breathe, and
- 24:14Speaker 1: when people hear them, they want to call and they
- 24:18Speaker 1: won't call nine one one and get me some help.
- 24:20Speaker 2: And I'm like, no, you don't need to do that.
- 24:22Speaker 6: I'm fine.
- 24:23Speaker 2: I promise you. I'm talking to you.
- 24:24Speaker 1: You're good. But they're like, no, that's not a normal hiccup.
- 24:27Speaker 1: I'm like, yeah, for me, it's normal. You know, you're
- 24:29Speaker 1: not supposed to have hiccups every day. Yeah, I understand that,
- 24:32Speaker 1: But for me, I've had them every day for the
- 24:34Speaker 1: last twenty three years.
- 24:36Speaker 2: If I drink cold water, I'm gonna get the hiccups.
- 24:39Speaker 1: So I just have to have my water room temperature.
- 24:41Speaker 1: I can't have nice cold otherwise you're gonna hear me
- 24:43Speaker 1: hiccup all day. And I tell you, if you stay
- 24:45Speaker 1: close to me long enough, you gonna have hiccups too.
- 24:48Speaker 1: It's a sympathy thing. I don't know what it is,
- 24:50Speaker 1: but somebody else is gonna get the hiccups.
- 24:52Speaker 2: So I try to warn you ahead of time that
- 24:54Speaker 2: that's what's gonna happen to be, so.
- 24:56Speaker 1: You know that's just what it is. Anyway, I like
- 25:01Speaker 1: I told to her, I'm still a boofy. We're gonna
- 25:03Speaker 1: have a good time at the end of the day.
- 25:05Speaker 2: But I know it has been a journey for her
- 25:09Speaker 2: to learn this stuff about herself.
- 25:11Speaker 1: And I'm pretty sure that she's telling her other friends
- 25:15Speaker 1: and everything and educating them about what she's going through
- 25:19Speaker 1: and what she's encountered. And I know that has to
- 25:21Speaker 1: be a wonderful feeling for you to watch her blossom
- 25:24Speaker 1: into a different child from being I would say, unsure
- 25:32Speaker 1: of herself in a sense of I don't know, and
- 25:35Speaker 1: I know that I'm different than other people in this sense,
- 25:38Speaker 1: but I'm still good at in this space, and I
- 25:42Speaker 1: can still do.
- 25:42Speaker 2: Everything that you do.
- 25:44Speaker 1: It's just I got a different detour and I got
- 25:46Speaker 1: a different path that I have to do to get there.
- 25:49Speaker 2: But we still gonna get to the finish line together.
- 25:50Speaker 1: But girl, let me tell you, I gotta go over
- 25:52Speaker 1: here so I could get to this one over here.
- 25:54Speaker 6: So I know that you have a joy in watching
- 25:57Speaker 6: her do that.
- 25:59Speaker 1: You know what it's been, It's been amazing. I I
- 26:04Speaker 1: actually went to her classroom to read my book, so
- 26:10Speaker 1: her teacher also has a disabled child, so she that's
- 26:16Speaker 1: what I loved. I said, Okay, you you know you
- 26:17Speaker 1: would understand. And so where I was the author and
- 26:21Speaker 1: I wrote a book you know about Camaia. My daughter's
- 26:24Speaker 1: name is Camaia, okay. In the book, she's my ino.
- 26:28Speaker 1: And I told her, I said, do you mind if
- 26:31Speaker 1: I come and read to your class? That way your
- 26:34Speaker 1: class can understand her a little bit more. And when
- 26:37Speaker 1: I tell you, it blew my mind. How so she's
- 26:40Speaker 1: in third grade? Mind how much they understood and questions
- 26:47Speaker 1: that they asked. I'm like, how are you what the
- 26:54Speaker 1: little girl said to me? She said, it must have
- 26:57Speaker 1: been hard for you as parents to see her go
- 26:59Speaker 1: through that too. And I'm little girl, you know, and
- 27:09Speaker 1: it's just been I think that also just kind of
- 27:13Speaker 1: shed light, you know, for them on her. She is
- 27:17Speaker 1: I call her my little natural nurture. So she she loves,
- 27:20Speaker 1: She loves to help every like her little brother was
- 27:24Speaker 1: her baby. Like she has already carry my little niece.
- 27:30Speaker 1: She's carrying her on her hip. But I love to
- 27:37Speaker 1: see it because, like I said, she's coming out of
- 27:39Speaker 1: her shell. And I've included her like the war show.
- 27:44Speaker 1: She will be there in her gold now. She will
- 27:48Speaker 1: be there because if this is just as much as
- 27:52Speaker 1: about her as it and I want to make sure
- 27:56Speaker 1: people know that, and yeah, just you know it is.
- 28:01Speaker 1: It is rewarding because, like I said, the confidence, her
- 28:04Speaker 1: confidence is increasing, she is getting to know herself more.
- 28:09Speaker 1: With her like me, it's it's on the severe side.
- 28:12Speaker 1: So sometimes the comprehension is not all the way there.
- 28:18Speaker 1: You know how to communicate with her, that's that's the
- 28:20Speaker 1: thing you learn and her and you you do that,
- 28:25Speaker 1: And that was the most frustrating thing before. It's like,
- 28:29Speaker 1: how am I going to get through this when we
- 28:32Speaker 1: know so we literally just tackled Let's just learn how
- 28:35Speaker 1: she learns, Let's learn how we talk to her. Let's
- 28:38Speaker 1: just learn these things. So now it's like a walking apart.
- 28:42Speaker 1: Like sometimes you know the comprehension piece, but we know
- 28:45Speaker 1: how to direct it in a way that stands. And
- 28:50Speaker 1: even when people talk to her ask her certain things
- 28:53Speaker 1: like usually we're there and she'll kind of look at
- 28:56Speaker 1: I don't understand, and then we can stand there and
- 28:59Speaker 1: say what you know, what is this?
- 29:01Speaker 2: You know?
- 29:02Speaker 1: Or you know, we can kind of read break the
- 29:04Speaker 1: questions because if you look at her, you really won't
- 29:06Speaker 1: know that there's anything wrong because she's such a bright girl.
- 29:12Speaker 1: She's you know, she's always bubbly, and so you wouldn't know.
- 29:16Speaker 1: So the biggest thing is I think she just kind
- 29:18Speaker 1: of you know, grasp a hold of it, but just
- 29:23Speaker 1: you know, the constant conversations, the constant reminders of you know,
- 29:27Speaker 1: just making sure that she is comfortable with the person
- 29:31Speaker 1: that she looks at in the mirror is what we want,
- 29:34Speaker 1: and that she embraces that person without any doubt and
- 29:38Speaker 1: without any fear. So that's what that's because you know,
- 29:43Speaker 1: they're thankfully there hasn't been any bullying because of it,
- 29:48Speaker 1: thankfully because we you know, we we pray against that
- 29:52Speaker 1: because but at the same time, should that ever happen,
- 29:57Speaker 1: you know, she knows what to do. Questions we asked her,
- 30:01Speaker 1: you know, how was your day in school? Is there
- 30:02Speaker 1: anything you want to talk about? Is there anything that
- 30:05Speaker 1: happened that made you feel sad or uncomfortable? You know,
- 30:08Speaker 1: those things we have to ask because we want to
- 30:11Speaker 1: make sure she understands if it do happen, you would
- 30:14Speaker 1: know that it's happening. Yeah, yeah, that's always a good thing.
- 30:19Speaker 1: I'm just really happy for her and happy for you
- 30:23Speaker 1: because it's a beautiful journey to see your child come
- 30:27Speaker 1: out of a space and then.
- 30:29Speaker 2: To educate other people.
- 30:31Speaker 1: And I know I haven't met her at all, but
- 30:35Speaker 1: she's had some really good parents who have instilled in her.
- 30:39Speaker 2: And that's that's.
- 30:40Speaker 1: A commanding thing for you and your and your husband
- 30:43Speaker 1: as well, because if you, guys, would have been so
- 30:49Speaker 1: overwhelmed and frustrated and not being able to look past
- 30:54Speaker 1: your own personal emotions and feelings to actually pour into
- 30:59Speaker 1: her to let her know, Yeah, you may be a
- 31:01Speaker 1: little different, but God created you in a space and
- 31:04Speaker 1: a way that you're gonna be able to bless other
- 31:08Speaker 1: people beyond what we see and what we know. And
- 31:11Speaker 1: so for you, guys, to pour into her and to
- 31:13Speaker 1: let her know that, yeah, you might be different, but
- 31:16Speaker 1: you're still great, and you're still gonna be awesome. You're
- 31:18Speaker 1: still gonna be able to do everything that you're supposed
- 31:21Speaker 1: to do in a matter of what God has called
- 31:25Speaker 1: you to do. So just because you're a little different
- 31:27Speaker 1: and it might take you a little minute to get
- 31:29Speaker 1: here and there, girl, you awesome anyway. And so for
- 31:32Speaker 1: you guys, pouring into her like that, that is why
- 31:35Speaker 1: she is that nurturer. That is why she's able to
- 31:38Speaker 1: be in the spaces that she's in and have no
- 31:41Speaker 1: fear about it. And I know when she walks in
- 31:44Speaker 1: a room, she lights it up and she she's.
- 31:47Speaker 2: Gonna command the space.
- 31:48Speaker 1: I can see that that's probably the personality that she has.
- 31:56Speaker 1: It was crazy because it was she she was very shy.
- 32:01Speaker 1: I mean she still is a little bit. But I
- 32:03Speaker 1: had my first book. When I first wrote the book,
- 32:06Speaker 1: one of my friends through me book signing event. Okay,
- 32:11Speaker 1: even in that event, like I watched this little girl
- 32:14Speaker 1: greet people at the door, Hi, how are you? Every
- 32:17Speaker 1: time I write the book, she's right there and I'm
- 32:20Speaker 1: like the little girl that always like when you say
- 32:23Speaker 1: something to her, she just but that day she was like, again,
- 32:30Speaker 1: this is our book, and it was just it was
- 32:34Speaker 1: it was so good to see and that's why I'm
- 32:36Speaker 1: I'm so happy that like during the process, even the
- 32:39Speaker 1: illustration part, like I showed her like this is this
- 32:42Speaker 1: is what it is when you know when I order
- 32:44Speaker 1: books and they come in the mail, you know, like
- 32:46Speaker 1: I said, she let her start signing books with me.
- 32:51Speaker 1: So yeah, So I had went to a vendor event
- 32:54Speaker 1: and people were okay with her signing the book too,
- 32:58Speaker 1: and I'm like, okay, So from now on, you know, get.
- 33:01Speaker 2: Her own pans set so she can sign her books.
- 33:04Speaker 1: Hey all, this might not right here, and then you
- 33:10Speaker 1: sign after me.
- 33:11Speaker 2: You know this, this mine right here.
- 33:14Speaker 1: So excited to do it. So that that's like I said,
- 33:17Speaker 1: that that means the world to me. And I know that,
- 33:20Speaker 1: you know, we still have because she's nine, and I
- 33:22Speaker 1: know that we still have, you know, a journey to go.
- 33:26Speaker 1: But you know, like I said, keeping God first in
- 33:29Speaker 1: it and just for that direction, and it's what's keeping
- 33:35Speaker 1: us and it is what's helping us to continue. And
- 33:38Speaker 1: so it's I have no complaints. Like before when it
- 33:42Speaker 1: was tough, and even when the first time mom and
- 33:47Speaker 1: and I had an emergency c section, I couldn't even
- 33:49Speaker 1: focus on healing because my baby right itself going down
- 33:57Speaker 1: in the window. When you had kids, you'll be like, okay,
- 34:00Speaker 1: I got.
- 34:00Speaker 2: To make sure the baby is fine.
- 34:02Speaker 6: I'll be all right. Just don't worry about that. Focus
- 34:05Speaker 6: on baby.
- 34:06Speaker 2: Okay, give me get all this together and then we
- 34:09Speaker 2: be five.
- 34:11Speaker 1: It's still like that. And so another thing about the
- 34:13Speaker 1: condition is that it's lethal and boys, so it's passed
- 34:19Speaker 1: to a boy. The pregnancy is likely to end in
- 34:24Speaker 1: the miscarriage. So I have a son, and so when
- 34:28Speaker 1: I was pregnant with him, we did the genetic testing
- 34:31Speaker 1: that eight weeks okay, I did not have the gene.
- 34:35Speaker 1: And then of course when he was born, we just
- 34:37Speaker 1: kind of looked at him to see if there was
- 34:39Speaker 1: anything that we noticed on for Maya okay, and so
- 34:47Speaker 1: I was able to get my boy. I prayed for
- 34:49Speaker 1: my boy. But you know, boys are.
- 34:52Speaker 2: I got two of them to look.
- 34:57Speaker 1: The boy.
- 34:58Speaker 2: Okay.
- 35:00Speaker 1: I don't think that a lot of people don't know
- 35:04Speaker 1: about it. And then if boys do, some boys do
- 35:07Speaker 1: survive with it, but some they said that it could
- 35:11Speaker 1: be more severe. So the support group and Continuity of
- 35:17Speaker 1: Pigmanity support group okay, and there are stories where you know,
- 35:26Speaker 1: they are some boys are living, and then there are
- 35:29Speaker 1: stories where they're getting ready to miscarry. Which it's so yeah,
- 35:36Speaker 1: because what I've learned is that you can either terminate
- 35:41Speaker 1: the pregnancy. Some doctors let you terminate the pregnancy if
- 35:44Speaker 1: they see that gene, or let you terminate the pregnancy.
- 35:48Speaker 1: You have to wait until you're miss hearing, which I'm
- 35:52Speaker 1: very devastating, but yeah, it's so hard. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 36:03Speaker 1: that's anyway I'm gonna leave that up to him and
- 36:07Speaker 1: how he want to.
- 36:08Speaker 2: I will stay out of that space.
- 36:11Speaker 1: God, whatever your will is in that space, that that's
- 36:14Speaker 1: what is gonna be, because I Lord, I can't make
- 36:17Speaker 1: that decision.
- 36:18Speaker 2: I ain't gonna.
- 36:19Speaker 1: Terminate and whatever you assign, that's what it's gonna be,
- 36:24Speaker 1: and that that's how it goes. God. And having to
- 36:29Speaker 1: you know, make that decision, I've seen it. And even
- 36:34Speaker 1: in the groups, just you know, supporting and letting them
- 36:37Speaker 1: know that you know, I wrote this book. The feedback
- 36:40Speaker 1: has been phenomenal because a lot of people are like,
- 36:43Speaker 1: thank you for shedding light on this, Yeah, because nobody
- 36:47Speaker 1: really has. And so it's just been boarding in that
- 36:52Speaker 1: way that I can shine. And then you know, just
- 36:55Speaker 1: seeing all the beautiful IP babies because it's I P
- 36:58Speaker 1: for IP, so you know, you know, just doing the
- 37:01Speaker 1: beautiful IP babies and just you know, know that I'm
- 37:04Speaker 1: not alone. You know, I'm not alone, and you know
- 37:08Speaker 1: we can go to that group to you know, ask
- 37:10Speaker 1: questions and the stories are very similar or you know,
- 37:15Speaker 1: because there's so many different things that you know, it
- 37:18Speaker 1: depends on if you have a mild or severely. Some
- 37:20Speaker 1: people don't have the brain part of it. They just
- 37:23Speaker 1: have like the skin condition or the tea condition, they
- 37:26Speaker 1: don't have the brain part. So my daughter has the
- 37:30Speaker 1: brain part. So you know, there's different testing that we
- 37:32Speaker 1: do EEG s m ories, some neuros psychological testing that's
- 37:38Speaker 1: just to see where she is in school. So that
- 37:43Speaker 1: neuropsychological testing is what's gonna make sure that she has
- 37:46Speaker 1: everything she needs in the IP to get that help.
- 37:50Speaker 1: So there's so many things. There's so many things life.
- 37:54Speaker 1: It's busier than mine. Yeah, well, she gonna keep you
- 37:59Speaker 1: all your toes. That's why God sent her to you,
- 38:02Speaker 1: is to keep you on your toes. You never know
- 38:05Speaker 1: why God does something, and there's always gonna be that
- 38:09Speaker 1: one question, at least once or twice you're gonna ask God,
- 38:12Speaker 1: why did you put this on me? God will definitely
- 38:16Speaker 1: give you an answer. And as you go through your journey,
- 38:19Speaker 1: and as you've seen, He's answered your question over and
- 38:22Speaker 1: over again that if it was not you, it was
- 38:26Speaker 1: going to be someone else and they may not have
- 38:29Speaker 1: handled it in the way that you've been handling it.
- 38:32Speaker 1: And so it was for your purpose and it's for
- 38:34Speaker 1: your journey. Now I got a question for you. Are
- 38:37Speaker 1: this is this gonna be like a series or is
- 38:41Speaker 1: it gonna be just this one book and then you're
- 38:44Speaker 1: gonna venture off into something else, or is I feel
- 38:48Speaker 1: like it should.
- 38:49Speaker 2: Be like a series kind of thing. That's what I'm feeling.
- 38:54Speaker 1: So trust me. I thought about it so because I'm
- 38:57Speaker 1: sure you want a follow right, because again, things change
- 39:04Speaker 1: literally stay with this condition. But what I want to
- 39:09Speaker 1: do next is either a memoir, so I want to
- 39:14Speaker 1: share my side of it, right, okay, my side of
- 39:18Speaker 1: it from mothers and fathers are experiencing something like this,
- 39:24Speaker 1: whether it's IP, whatever it is. I also want to
- 39:29Speaker 1: do a compilation book which is going to give other
- 39:33Speaker 1: mothers the opportunity to share their.
- 39:35Speaker 2: Story mythology going on there.
- 39:41Speaker 1: A little bit. So I'm trying to you know. So, yeah,
- 39:46Speaker 1: if you're a mother of you know, a child with
- 39:49Speaker 1: a disability, and you're okay, we're sharing your story, I
- 39:52Speaker 1: would love to connect because I think it's important just
- 39:56Speaker 1: to have that support group and be able to share
- 39:58Speaker 1: that because I know what it was like for me.
- 40:00Speaker 1: I know the dark thoughts. I know where if you
- 40:05Speaker 1: sat in your thoughts it could lead you that you know,
- 40:08Speaker 1: down a rabbit hole.
- 40:11Speaker 2: It's a whole rabbit hole.
- 40:13Speaker 1: Yeah, but you know you have to learn to shift
- 40:17Speaker 1: that and and there was things that I just did
- 40:22Speaker 1: that and I've already started writing, so because here it's
- 40:26Speaker 1: been up here, so I've already started writing. So either
- 40:31Speaker 1: way that's going off, it's just you know, a memoir
- 40:33Speaker 1: by myself or if it's a compilation book, I still
- 40:39Speaker 1: would like to do either one, just because I think
- 40:41Speaker 1: it's important just to share that my thoughts and journey
- 40:46Speaker 1: first time mom, you know, emergency c section, just the
- 40:50Speaker 1: things that I thought, just the things that I felt,
- 40:55Speaker 1: just to be able to you know again encourage or
- 40:59Speaker 1: you know, uplift. That's three books right there. That's that's
- 41:04Speaker 1: three books right there. So you've already started writing. So however,
- 41:11Speaker 1: you get your titles together, but there's three books right there,
- 41:14Speaker 1: so just go ahead and you know, get your little
- 41:17Speaker 1: outlines and stuff together, get that roll and because that
- 41:21Speaker 1: is that's really three books right there, because you got
- 41:24Speaker 1: and also your husband has his perspective as well, so
- 41:28Speaker 1: that's love for you know, you got that in there
- 41:31Speaker 1: first time. IM dealing with this and the memoirs and
- 41:36Speaker 1: the supportive factor. Then you and your husband together collectively
- 41:41Speaker 1: then also other parents. That's quote on that's about five.
- 41:48Speaker 1: So if I keep going, it's gonna be a whole.
- 41:51Speaker 1: So yeah, I see like a little series going on
- 41:54Speaker 1: into here, and.
- 41:55Speaker 2: This is the start of it.
- 41:57Speaker 1: So with it being her first time, this is God's
- 42:02Speaker 1: plan for you all along. And that's one of the
- 42:05Speaker 1: things like we never see what God has half the time.
- 42:08Speaker 1: We're too busy trying to run from what it is
- 42:11Speaker 1: that he's calling us to do anyway, because it's like, Okay, God,
- 42:14Speaker 1: yeah that ain't for me. I don't know who you
- 42:17Speaker 1: sent that vision for, but that is not my story,
- 42:20Speaker 1: you know. And God be like, Okay, yeah, I heard you,
- 42:22Speaker 1: but I'm gonna send it right back to you because
- 42:24Speaker 1: you're gonna do what I said to do.
- 42:26Speaker 2: It's like we're that rebellious.
- 42:28Speaker 1: Child that God is like, Okay, yeah, I know that
- 42:31Speaker 1: you're trying to go over there and be all worldly
- 42:33Speaker 1: and everything, but I'm gonna get you to turn around
- 42:35Speaker 1: and do this.
- 42:36Speaker 2: You turn and you're gonna be right. Well I told
- 42:38Speaker 2: you to be.
- 42:39Speaker 1: So yeah, God already knew what he had in store
- 42:43Speaker 1: for you with this part of your life and your
- 42:46Speaker 1: journey and first time motherhood. It's always those different things
- 42:51Speaker 1: that it was like God, sir, listen, I don't know
- 42:58Speaker 1: exactly certainly said I need to talk to you because
- 43:03Speaker 1: I don't think you heard me when I asked this
- 43:06Speaker 1: question this way, So let.
- 43:07Speaker 6: Me try to reword it and see if you're gonna
- 43:09Speaker 6: hear me a little better this.
- 43:10Speaker 1: Time, because and I know I'll be like gud, Look,
- 43:14Speaker 1: I know I talked to you early.
- 43:15Speaker 2: This morning, but I need to talk to you again.
- 43:17Speaker 1: I don't need you to put me on hold and
- 43:19Speaker 1: nothing like that, because I really got a question right now.
- 43:21Speaker 1: And I know you got other people that you're trying
- 43:23Speaker 1: to talk to, but I need you right now, sir,
- 43:26Speaker 1: So so can you listen. And I know he'll be
- 43:29Speaker 1: like this guy right here, don't got on my nerves today.
- 43:34Speaker 1: Sometimes you gotta have them on speed down, okay, Because yeah,
- 43:39Speaker 1: but I talked to God just about all day long.
- 43:42Speaker 1: I love you. Know you need that guyance, you need
- 43:45Speaker 1: that wisdom and everything that you do before you do it.
- 43:49Speaker 1: I think that's important to seek him first. So yeah,
- 43:53Speaker 1: I think even in this journey, I asked him to
- 43:57Speaker 1: order my footsteps. And you know, a lot I hear
- 44:01Speaker 1: a lot of people's journey about self publishing to be
- 44:05Speaker 1: a little rocky. But I can't say that for like
- 44:08Speaker 1: I can I say like I made a decision to write,
- 44:13Speaker 1: I went through the publishing company, and here we are.
- 44:16Speaker 1: So it wasn't it wasn't anything that I you know, regret.
- 44:21Speaker 1: It wasn't anything that I would have done different. I
- 44:24Speaker 1: think this is where I'm supposed to be. So I'm
- 44:27Speaker 1: just happy to be able to you know, be able
- 44:31Speaker 1: to show it. And I'm like you so I talk
- 44:35Speaker 1: all the time, I can talk about it. When it
- 44:38Speaker 1: comes to this, I'm like, it's like you've been put
- 44:44Speaker 1: on a spine and it's like, oh my all eyes
- 44:47Speaker 1: on me.
- 44:50Speaker 2: I don't know what I was supposed to say, Like
- 44:52Speaker 2: I don't know how I'm supposed to go, like, Okay,
- 44:55Speaker 2: you want me to do what?
- 44:56Speaker 5: Do?
- 44:56Speaker 1: What?
- 44:57Speaker 2: Who? That ain't for me, that's what somebody else.
- 45:00Speaker 1: But it's always I'm like, God, look here, let me
- 45:03Speaker 1: just go ahead and do what you told me to do.
- 45:06Speaker 2: Be in the space and where you're supposed to be.
- 45:08Speaker 1: And I look at it like this, I'm never in
- 45:09Speaker 1: a space where I'm not supposed to be because God
- 45:11Speaker 1: has already ordered my steps and as long as I'm
- 45:14Speaker 1: paying attention to the directions that he gives, I'll never
- 45:16Speaker 1: be out of place and I'll never be.
- 45:17Speaker 2: Off the path that he has for me.
- 45:20Speaker 1: And so when I'm obedient to his the instructions, his directions,
- 45:24Speaker 1: no matter what it is, even if I don't agree
- 45:26Speaker 1: with it, because I'm like, I don't know if I'm supposed.
- 45:30Speaker 2: To be on this right path. But God, I want
- 45:34Speaker 2: to take a a detour. I want to go somewhere else,
- 45:36Speaker 2: but you keep saying go straight.
- 45:39Speaker 1: Well, God, I think I need to go left, and
- 45:40Speaker 1: he like, no, no, no, I need you to go
- 45:42Speaker 1: straight because what I need you to see and what
- 45:44Speaker 1: I need you to do is straight ahead. Don't be
- 45:47Speaker 1: trying to vent you off to the left, because that
- 45:49Speaker 1: ain't what I said. And I'm like, okay, right, I'm
- 45:51Speaker 1: gonna keep going straight, but if it don't look right,
- 45:55Speaker 1: I'm gonna have to, you know, And then I end
- 45:57Speaker 1: up trying to venture off, and then you know, he'll
- 46:00Speaker 1: slap you on the back of the neck and be like,
- 46:01Speaker 1: I can't tell you to go that way.
- 46:03Speaker 2: So you get that's hard.
- 46:06Speaker 6: God gonna tell you.
- 46:08Speaker 1: You know, I didn't tell you to go that way
- 46:11Speaker 1: I told you to go straight, and now you're trying
- 46:13Speaker 1: to venture off. Get back on the path, Get back
- 46:16Speaker 1: on the right place where I told you. Because when
- 46:19Speaker 1: I wrote my first book, I was self published. Also,
- 46:23Speaker 1: I didn't have a clue on what I was doing.
- 46:25Speaker 1: I didn't know anything in the first but I was
- 46:28Speaker 1: obedient to what He told me to do. Now did
- 46:30Speaker 1: I get a lot of criticism, of course, But like
- 46:33Speaker 1: people said, they was like, well, I would have never
- 46:35Speaker 1: put my name on that. Well, it wasn't your assignment,
- 46:37Speaker 1: So of course you're not gonna put your name on
- 46:38Speaker 1: something that doesn't.
- 46:39Speaker 2: Belong to you.
- 46:40Speaker 1: So if it doesn't belong to you, I could care
- 46:42Speaker 1: less about what you think about it.
- 46:43Speaker 2: It wasn't for you.
- 46:44Speaker 1: I was doing what God told me to do, and
- 46:46Speaker 1: I did it how he told me to do it.
- 46:48Speaker 1: And the path that from that first moment to where
- 46:53Speaker 1: I am now is all because I was obedient to what.
- 46:56Speaker 2: He told me to do when he told me to
- 46:58Speaker 2: do it.
- 46:59Speaker 1: Now, had I done it when I wanted to, baby,
- 47:03Speaker 1: we wouldn't even be here right now.
- 47:08Speaker 2: Don't be honest with you. We would not be here.
- 47:10Speaker 6: Right now had I done it on my time. According
- 47:13Speaker 6: to my will because got.
- 47:17Speaker 1: Look here, h sir, I ain't read that. When you know,
- 47:25Speaker 1: when I decided to write a book, you know, most
- 47:28Speaker 1: people will you know, share with people that they're writing
- 47:33Speaker 1: a book. They would, you know, tell friends, and I did,
- 47:36Speaker 1: you know? It was a couple of people that I told,
- 47:39Speaker 1: mainly because I wanted to see it through. I wanted
- 47:43Speaker 1: to somebody accountable. Yeah, and then I also didn't, you know,
- 47:48Speaker 1: because sometimes people can put their negativity on you. Why
- 47:52Speaker 1: would you what would you talk about? I didn't want.
- 47:56Speaker 1: I knew what I wanted to do, and I told
- 47:59Speaker 1: people that you know, I knew would be like, okay,
- 48:02Speaker 1: do it. But I told they do it and that's
- 48:07Speaker 1: all I need it. I do it and okay, right,
- 48:13Speaker 1: like I said, even and I kind of thought, like
- 48:17Speaker 1: would that change things, because you know, some people they
- 48:19Speaker 1: promote their books before it released. But it didn't. It
- 48:24Speaker 1: didn't because I'm a nominee and I'm on platforms where
- 48:31Speaker 1: I can share, and yeah, I've never seen it coming
- 48:34Speaker 1: like this because you know, you asked me what I
- 48:37Speaker 1: wanted to be when I was a little girl. It
- 48:39Speaker 1: wasn't an author. And I never thought I was gonna
- 48:45Speaker 1: be an author. But I'm thoroughly enjoying it and a
- 48:50Speaker 1: lot of times it's it's surreal, you know, like and
- 48:55Speaker 1: I have to shout out that, and I have to
- 48:57Speaker 1: shout out Gina and doctor Stevens because respect that they
- 49:01Speaker 1: put on your name like exactly you know what I mean,
- 49:05Speaker 1: like addressed author McLamore or author farn like they just
- 49:11Speaker 1: the respect that they have. It's been and it just
- 49:15Speaker 1: helps you be like, Okay, I am, I am, and
- 49:22Speaker 1: I am happy to see it in that. And you know,
- 49:25Speaker 1: I was talking to my apostle, was also an author.
- 49:30Speaker 1: You know. He embrace the fact that you're here, and
- 49:33Speaker 1: I'm like, yes, you're right, And so I'm learning to
- 49:37Speaker 1: embrace that. I'm learning to embrace.
- 49:40Speaker 6: The fact that I'm still.
- 49:49Speaker 1: But you know, when I tell you this is how
- 49:53Speaker 1: you know that God is answering my prayers. I asked
- 49:55Speaker 1: him that this would be a year of connection, like
- 49:57Speaker 1: I want to divide connection. I wanted people who I
- 50:00Speaker 1: could connect with who was doing the same thing that
- 50:04Speaker 1: would help me and help you elevate. And then he
- 50:08Speaker 1: bought me Dad, and I'm like, okay, like and so
- 50:11Speaker 1: and like you said, I sometimes you know, you shy
- 50:14Speaker 1: to the back, but I asked him bring me to
- 50:16Speaker 1: the front and let me walk. That prayer was.
- 50:21Speaker 2: A very specific prayer.
- 50:23Speaker 1: And my favorite, you know scripture is you know, he
- 50:27Speaker 1: didn't give me the spirit of fear, but of power
- 50:30Speaker 1: and love and the sound mind. And so every single
- 50:32Speaker 1: time I used to be like before these, I would
- 50:36Speaker 1: have like the jitters and I was like, oh my goodness,
- 50:38Speaker 1: oh my goodness. But for this particular one, I said, girl,
- 50:41Speaker 1: this is your story. There's no wrong way to tell it.
- 50:44Speaker 1: This is your journey, and believe in that and walk
- 50:47Speaker 1: in there. So this one for me has been like
- 50:50Speaker 1: even though I've been nervous, the other ones that you
- 50:52Speaker 1: probably say I can't tell, I can tell I was,
- 50:55Speaker 1: but you know, that prayer has just been you know,
- 51:00Speaker 1: I don't want to walk in here. I want to
- 51:02Speaker 1: move and operate how you called me to be. So
- 51:05Speaker 1: that has just been, like I said, I'm blowing my
- 51:09Speaker 1: own mind cause I'm like me, look when you go
- 51:13Speaker 1: back and look at all the things that you've done,
- 51:15Speaker 1: it's like, Okay, I was on a podcast not too
- 51:18Speaker 1: long ago and I had to send my bio and
- 51:21Speaker 1: as I was writing it out, I have not even
- 51:25Speaker 1: acknowledged half of the stuff that I had done, Like
- 51:27Speaker 1: I've never celebrated a lot of the things that I've accomplished.
- 51:31Speaker 1: And I was like, okay, dang, I did this, I
- 51:35Speaker 1: did this, I did this. Okay, all right now with
- 51:38Speaker 1: me doing my first one, Like my best friend came
- 51:41Speaker 1: to me after she did hers and she was like,
- 51:44Speaker 1: you need to do your book and yeah. That was
- 51:46Speaker 1: in like April of twenty nineteen, and I was like, yeah, okay, whatever,
- 51:51Speaker 1: that ain't that. I'm not ready for none of that stuff.
- 51:54Speaker 4: I'm just not.
- 51:55Speaker 2: And so come January.
- 51:57Speaker 1: Twenty twenty, I was just like, okay, I got to
- 51:59Speaker 1: be over into what God said do He said to
- 52:02Speaker 1: Now is the time to do it. Whatever happens, happens,
- 52:05Speaker 1: and if the book gets accepted, whatever, then I'll keep
- 52:10Speaker 1: going because this is what you told me to do,
- 52:12Speaker 1: and this is how you told me to do it.
- 52:14Speaker 1: And so at the end, I'm going to tell you
- 52:16Speaker 1: this prayer that I prayed, and you'll understand why I
- 52:19Speaker 1: understand your prayer in the way that you've prayed. The
- 52:23Speaker 1: end of twenty of twenty nineteen going into twenty twenty,
- 52:27Speaker 1: my prayer was on December the thirty first was right
- 52:31Speaker 1: before midnight. God, connect me to the people that are
- 52:34Speaker 1: connected to the destiny and what you have for me.
- 52:37Speaker 1: Help me to step out of my comfort zone and
- 52:39Speaker 1: into the space in which I've been called to be.
- 52:43Speaker 1: And what I tell you, he has brought me out
- 52:46Speaker 1: of my comfort zone have I've been I did A
- 52:49Speaker 1: first thing I did was a virtual event with sharing
- 52:55Speaker 1: my poetry, something I had never done, like reading it
- 52:59Speaker 1: out loud to other people on a platform that was
- 53:03Speaker 1: virtual during COVID.
- 53:05Speaker 2: Okay, God, all right, that's the first thing.
- 53:08Speaker 1: Like I wanted to say no to that thing, but
- 53:10Speaker 1: I accepted it before I realized I had accepted it.
- 53:13Speaker 2: That was nobody but God.
- 53:15Speaker 1: The second thing was in then a virtual monologue, something
- 53:19Speaker 1: I had never done.
- 53:20Speaker 2: And then the part that I got.
- 53:22Speaker 1: Originally was a no speaking part, so then I had
- 53:26Speaker 1: to extend the part to a speaking part. So it
- 53:30Speaker 1: was like, okay, all right. So he has definitely answered
- 53:34Speaker 1: the prayer. And I've been obedient to everything that He's
- 53:37Speaker 1: called me to do, and I'm continuing to do that now.
- 53:41Speaker 2: Like I said, I do. Sometimes won't go on over
- 53:43Speaker 2: there to the backside and be like I ain't ready
- 53:46Speaker 2: for that.
- 53:47Speaker 1: But when you're specific in your prayers, God will lead
- 53:49Speaker 1: you into the past and where you're supposed to be,
- 53:52Speaker 1: and you're never going to be in a space where
- 53:53Speaker 1: you're not supposed to be. So when people ask me
- 53:56Speaker 1: why they don't see me, because God didn't direct me
- 53:59Speaker 1: to be there, that's why I'm not there. So I'm
- 54:01Speaker 1: not gonna be in space as that God hasn't directed
- 54:04Speaker 1: me or showed me that I'm supposed to be. Like
- 54:07Speaker 1: this year, the prayer that I prayed was to take
- 54:10Speaker 1: me in places.
- 54:12Speaker 2: That I have to travel too.
- 54:15Speaker 1: Now with me saying that, the very first thing he
- 54:18Speaker 1: kept showing me these places.
- 54:20Speaker 2: He showed me a place in Atlanta, and I was like, God,
- 54:23Speaker 2: I don't know. I'm not going to know Atlanta. That's
- 54:26Speaker 2: just not for me. And so lo and behold.
- 54:29Speaker 1: I get a text message from author and she was
- 54:33Speaker 1: having an event in Atlanta, and I was like, okay,
- 54:36Speaker 1: God showed me this in January.
- 54:39Speaker 2: This was June. The event was in jail. I said, okay, God,
- 54:42Speaker 2: I got you.
- 54:43Speaker 1: I'm gonna go and I've been obedient ever since. Now
- 54:48Speaker 1: I got one more question and then we're gonna wrap
- 54:50Speaker 1: this up.
- 54:51Speaker 2: But we'll talk all night if it was left up
- 54:54Speaker 2: to me.
- 54:56Speaker 1: But how can they purchased you book and how can
- 55:01Speaker 1: they get in contact with you? Yes, so I so
- 55:06Speaker 1: you can search, so you can go to fairmaclimore dot com.
- 55:09Speaker 1: So it's my first name, first name dot com. You
- 55:12Speaker 1: can that allows you to purchase the book directly from
- 55:15Speaker 1: the publisher. I am also on barz and Noble, so
- 55:19Speaker 1: you can search my name or the title of the book.
- 55:22Speaker 1: I always say you just do my first name because
- 55:23Speaker 1: it's a long title. Also on Amazon, same way, so
- 55:28Speaker 1: fair and Maclamore or Shining through my Journey within Continency
- 55:32Speaker 1: of Pigment. And then I am on the social media
- 55:36Speaker 1: so Facebook, I have author fair and Maclamore. That's my
- 55:40Speaker 1: author page where you can see updates and you can
- 55:44Speaker 1: just continue the journey with me. Or my personal page
- 55:47Speaker 1: Marion Maclamore. I do both. Instagram is just fairn dot maclimore,
- 55:52Speaker 1: so it's all it's always just my name, Farmac, you
- 55:57Speaker 1: right there with me, because I ain't got all these
- 55:59Speaker 1: extras and all that stuff.
- 56:01Speaker 2: I ain't got count for that. People already have a
- 56:03Speaker 2: hard time trying to say my name.
- 56:05Speaker 1: So so girl, we're right now on the same street together,
- 56:10Speaker 1: I understand, I'll feel you.
- 56:12Speaker 2: But I thank you so much for being here and
- 56:15Speaker 2: sharing your story, your journey and everything. And don't forget
- 56:19Speaker 2: that we are still gonna be in touch, so you're
- 56:21Speaker 2: gonna get used to seeing me and hearing from me. Okay.
- 56:24Speaker 1: This was just our first inuential meeting. We've had little
- 56:27Speaker 1: messages back and forth. But baby, here we go. Okay,
- 56:34Speaker 1: but yes, we're here. We're family now. So okay, don't
- 56:38Speaker 1: be thinking like I'm gonna get on your nerves. Okay,
- 56:41Speaker 1: I'm just gonna let you know that, Okay, So just
- 56:43Speaker 1: be prepared that you've already been worn, that you got
- 56:47Speaker 1: me for life.
- 56:47Speaker 2: Okay, Well, I appreciate you.
- 56:50Speaker 1: Thank you so much for having me. Course, thank you, yes, ma'am.
- 56:58Speaker 1: Now before I go, y'all know this is how I
- 57:00Speaker 1: close out my show, and that is.
- 57:03Speaker 2: Stay out of God's business.
- 57:05Speaker 1: The only thing God needs you to do is be
