- 1:04Speaker 1: Keep it locked, let's get it started.
- 1:11Speaker 1: Well, we're going to do some Miami Hurricanes talk.
- 1:23Speaker 1: We're going to actually pick the games Game by game.
- 1:27Speaker 1: We'll do a schedule.
- 1:29Speaker 1: We'll put some stakes on the line and see who wins.
- 1:31Speaker 1: But before we do that, some late news here, as former Seminole running back, dalvin Cook has signed with the New York Jets.
- 1:42Speaker 1: And we have yeah, we got Jimmy Reno in studio and we got Miami contributor Justin on the line, both not happy about that.
- 1:53Speaker 3: Dalvin screwed Miami again.
- 1:55Speaker 3: I mean, he gave us Joseph Yerbie back in the day of college after decommitting at the last second, and now, when it was painfully obvious he was going to Miami, he went to the goddamn Jets.
- 2:08Speaker 3: Right, that's like of all the teams.
- 2:11Speaker 1: And it just really shows what the position is Like you can't get along, you can't get a deal.
- 2:17Speaker 1: He signs a one year deal with incentives up to 8.6 million.
- 2:21Speaker 2: Yeah, that's going to go, yeah.
- 2:23Speaker 1: For what is definitely what the top, a top three running back in the league.
- 2:29Speaker 2: I think so still.
- 2:30Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:31Speaker 3: Yeah, I'd say top three to top five.
- 2:33Speaker 1: Yeah, five when healthy, yeah, when healthy, and that's that's, that's the thing, and it's stable bags.
- 2:38Speaker 1: I thought the dolphins were going to get them, but going to the Jets and Rodgers Come on.
- 2:45Speaker 3: I know of all the teams.
- 2:47Speaker 1: It'll be dangerous, though they could be dangerous for next season.
- 2:50Speaker 2: I told you, man, I just needed him to sign with the dolphins and then have James just take a backup roll with Miami and I'd be on.
- 2:57Speaker 2: I'd be on the bandwagon for good until it broke that trio up.
- 3:01Speaker 1: Yeah, that would be sick, but it's not to be.
- 3:04Speaker 1: The Jets add another one.
- 3:06Speaker 1: They're on hard knocks.
- 3:07Speaker 1: You'll be all.
- 3:08Speaker 1: You can watch all of that on HBO or whatnot, but we're going to talk some hurricanes and we're going to talk 2023.
- 3:16Speaker 1: And not a lot of people are talking about Miami season with, especially around here, Florida State with the top 10 matchup and a lot of the predictions to win the ACC make a playoff run.
- 3:27Speaker 1: But our tribal Miami, Mario Cristobal is going into his second year with two new coordinators on both sides of the ball.
- 3:35Speaker 1: So a lot of pressure this year for Mario Cristobal to get things right, to show things that are moving in the right direction.
- 3:43Speaker 1: He's bringing in Lance Gendry for the defense and he's bringing in what is it?
- 3:50Speaker 1: Shannon Dalson for?
- 3:52Speaker 2: the offense yeah.
- 3:55Speaker 1: So what do you think about that?
- 3:58Speaker 3: The coordinators can't be worse than they were last year.
- 4:00Speaker 3: Yeah, that's true, they really can't, extremely true.
- 4:03Speaker 3: So you've got to think the schemes are going to be better.
- 4:07Speaker 3: We also had that great recruiting class.
- 4:11Speaker 3: Like the only thing I've seen at a camp really is that TVD will be the starter this year.
- 4:20Speaker 3: They're not going to go with Jacuri Brown.
- 4:22Speaker 3: The big athletic freshman kid from last year saw some time.
- 4:26Speaker 3: They're sticking with TVD, which makes sense, because Dalson wants to run the more of an air raid style offense which TVD really excelled in in the second half of his first season as a starter.
- 4:39Speaker 3: I mean he was coming and getting Heisman hype, first round draft pick hype.
- 4:43Speaker 2: What was it?
- 4:43Speaker 2: Red Lashley was the OC.
- 4:45Speaker 2: That's right.
- 4:46Speaker 2: Yeah, we've said before.
- 4:48Speaker 2: Justin misses that guy, but unfortunately the head coach was Manny Diaz, yeah Well and it's the same kind of similar philosophies.
- 5:00Speaker 2: I think that spread it around through the air kind of fly, and that's right.
- 5:04Speaker 2: Man Van Dyke looked a lot more comfortable in that kind of office of system.
- 5:09Speaker 1: Jimmy, how do you see Miami this year?
- 5:11Speaker 1: I know that you follow recruiting closely.
- 5:14Speaker 2: Yeah, I think they're going to be much better.
- 5:17Speaker 2: Ok, lashley, I got them being a lot better than Florida.
- 5:19Speaker 2: Oh, wow, yeah, yeah, their quarterback situation being the biggest difference, like they actually have some stability there in the starter, but an offensive line is Mario Cristobal's.
- 5:31Speaker 2: Yeah, they're all with Cristobal, with Mirabal the O-line coach.
- 5:35Speaker 2: They're always going to have physical, consistent office of line play.
- 5:40Speaker 2: I'm looking at the schedule.
- 5:41Speaker 2: Man, they can, it's that A&M game, Right.
- 5:44Speaker 1: They win that, what about their defense?
- 5:47Speaker 1: Is that?
- 5:47Speaker 1: What is the defense?
- 5:48Speaker 1: Something that is worrying you for the Miami fans going into the season.
- 5:54Speaker 2: Well, like Justin said, man the coordinators last year, you can't get worse.
- 5:58Speaker 2: Kevin Steele at one point might have been a great coordinator back in the early 2000s.
- 6:05Speaker 2: I just think his scheme is pretty dated.
- 6:07Speaker 2: People have figured it out.
- 6:08Speaker 2: Lance Guijere is very interesting because Jimbo tried to get him at Florida State way, way back when as a position coach.
- 6:16Speaker 2: So I think their defense is going to be improved, especially with those All-American safeties back there kids and the fans especially.
- 6:23Speaker 2: So, yeah, I think they're going to be much better.
- 6:26Speaker 2: It's not going to be what you saw last season out of them and they got a chance when their first four or five games that A&M game is just the big one on the schedule.
- 6:34Speaker 1: Oh yeah, oh yeah.
- 6:36Speaker 1: So all right.
- 6:37Speaker 1: Well, let's get into it.
- 6:38Speaker 1: Let's do some picks.
- 6:40Speaker 1: Before we do it, let's decide what we're going to put up here.
- 6:43Speaker 1: Let's say loser buys.
- 6:50Speaker 3: Loser buys the next big UFC fight.
- 6:53Speaker 1: Oh gosh, yeah, we'll see about that.
- 6:56Speaker 1: Well, you bring that.
- 6:58Speaker 1: We'll just make it a friendly gentleman's adult beverage pack of your choice.
- 7:04Speaker 1: Whatever you have, I found one at least and anybody wants to get on board with this.
- 7:10Speaker 1: You can tweet your picks at the NFLSN.
- 7:14Speaker 1: You can email your picks, your record, to me at Austin at the NFLSNcom.
- 7:20Speaker 1: If you nail it, you get a free t-shirt.
- 7:23Speaker 1: How about that?
- 7:24Speaker 1: How about that?
- 7:25Speaker 1: But that's going to happen at the end of the season, so you have to email it before the first game to be, eligible.
- 7:31Speaker 1: Ok, all right, let's get to the games, and it's going to be Miami versus Miami for the first game.
- 7:40Speaker 1: So, I got Miami yeah.
- 7:46Speaker 2: Miami's going to win.
- 7:47Speaker 1: Yeah, all right, so they're one, and oh nothing, nothing to worry about here.
- 7:52Speaker 1: You know, last year I just remember middle Tennessee State going down there- no, nothing, nothing to worry about.
- 7:58Speaker 2: You know, oxford, that's actually Miami, Ohio is up where I was.
- 8:01Speaker 2: Was that the last few years?
- 8:03Speaker 2: I mean, they, they're a good Mac team, but that's it, man, there's.
- 8:07Speaker 2: You know, I expect that to be over mid first quarter.
- 8:12Speaker 1: Okay.
- 8:13Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, unless Ben Rothlessberger is up there.
- 8:15Speaker 3: I don't know anything about Miami, Ohio.
- 8:18Speaker 3: I'm not going to pretend that I do.
- 8:20Speaker 1: Right.
- 8:20Speaker 1: Well, it's just going to be, if it's probably not going to be a big atmosphere being, you know it's Miami, ohio, but the next week is the real game, game two, september 9th in Miami.
- 8:36Speaker 1: Jim bow, jim bow, bringing the Aggies down to Miami.
- 8:41Speaker 1: This is a big game for both for both both both teams, both coaches although they're, you know they're probably not sweating it with the guaranteed money they're about they're receiving, but Huge game for their seasons.
- 8:56Speaker 1: You don't want to lose this game.
- 8:58Speaker 1: Who you liking this?
- 9:01Speaker 3: It's.
- 9:01Speaker 3: It's honestly that it's a really tough one to pick, because both teams were so abnormally bad last year and you had there was a mass exodus that came out of A&M, If I remember correctly a lot of transfers left in this offseason.
- 9:18Speaker 2: Yeah, quite quite a few.
- 9:19Speaker 2: It was, it was yeah you're looking at like half of that, that famed class that came in yeah.
- 9:26Speaker 1: But they still got.
- 9:26Speaker 1: They still have good players there and they were hit with the injury bug last year.
- 9:31Speaker 1: Then the transfer bug this year?
- 9:34Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah it's.
- 9:35Speaker 3: I mean, that's a tough game to pick without seeing these guys actually on the field, like I could be.
- 9:39Speaker 3: Like when we actually do game by game picks during the season.
- 9:42Speaker 3: You know, I'll probably be able to give you a little better.
- 9:47Speaker 1: I know this is before wins and losses man Predictions who you got.
- 9:51Speaker 3: Well, because I'm being positive Keynes fan, crystal Ball is going to be a great coach.
- 9:56Speaker 3: Tvd is going to make a Heisman run in the Keynes B day and I'm like it's your touchdown, so how about that?
- 10:03Speaker 2: Oh, I like it.
- 10:05Speaker 2: No, no, I'll pick.
- 10:12Speaker 2: I'm just going to pick A&M just based on.
- 10:14Speaker 2: I don't think it's going to be be a blowout or anything, yeah.
- 10:19Speaker 2: But, you know, I don't think Miami is going to be there yet that early in the season.
- 10:26Speaker 3: Now I will say that I think Spanker.
- 10:29Speaker 2: I think Miami can finish with a better record than A&M this year.
- 10:33Speaker 1: This is the game, though you can only counts as one loss.
- 10:36Speaker 1: I think this is the game where Miami gets spanked, but I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing.
- 10:44Speaker 1: I think it's just A&M needs it.
- 10:47Speaker 1: There are jimbos been there for a long time.
- 10:50Speaker 1: It's still new and you know Jim Jim Bose never lost in Miami when he was at Florida State.
- 10:56Speaker 1: He's going to have him ready.
- 10:58Speaker 1: I liked Miami's chances better last year to win this game.
- 11:02Speaker 1: Then I do this.
- 11:04Speaker 1: Should have, they probably should have?
- 11:05Speaker 2: Oh, they should have.
- 11:06Speaker 2: Yeah, but I got, I got.
- 11:08Speaker 1: A&M winning by by double digits.
- 11:11Speaker 3: I'll say, as long as this year's game isn't as painfully boring and miserable to watch as last year's game, I'll be happy.
- 11:19Speaker 1: All right At this point.
- 11:20Speaker 1: All right.
- 11:21Speaker 1: So we got Justin, you got two and oh, and me and Jim both have one and one.
- 11:29Speaker 1: Ok, all right.
- 11:31Speaker 1: So now we're going to go to Bethune Cookman Nothing to see here.
- 11:35Speaker 1: We're going to get a win for the hurricanes there and then it's at Temple.
- 11:40Speaker 2: That's another win, yeah.
- 11:42Speaker 3: That's another win, man, that's a.
- 11:44Speaker 3: You know, what's funny about Temple is not only is that Al Golden's old school, but it was also almost many days.
- 11:51Speaker 2: It is yeah For like a day.
- 11:53Speaker 2: Well, not even a day, that's right.
- 11:54Speaker 2: Three hours, yeah, yeah, some.
- 11:57Speaker 3: Yeah, they didn't even have time to like get through pre-boarding at the airport.
- 12:01Speaker 1: This is the result of all that intermingling and scheduling this game years ago.
- 12:05Speaker 1: That must be.
- 12:07Speaker 1: Then there's a bye week.
- 12:10Speaker 3: We got that one.
- 12:11Speaker 1: Yeah, we got that one.
- 12:12Speaker 1: And then there and then it's the ACC home opener against the Ramblin wreck Georgia Tech's coming down to Miami.
- 12:20Speaker 1: How you see this one, Reno Tech is yeah, I got, I got Miami.
- 12:27Speaker 2: Yeah, I think Georgia Tech really messed up with the coaching situation last year.
- 12:33Speaker 2: I mean, I know Brent Key did an admirable job, admiral, admirable job, but I got Miami.
- 12:41Speaker 2: Man, I'm still not.
- 12:42Speaker 2: I think Georgia Tech finishes towards the bottom of the conference.
- 12:46Speaker 1: All right.
- 12:48Speaker 3: That is, without Paul Johnson running that triple.
- 12:51Speaker 1: Yeah, you got.
- 12:52Speaker 3: Yeah, I got Miami without a triple option, man.
- 12:55Speaker 3: I mean, georgia Tech hasn't shown me anything outside of every third year winning eight, nine games with the triple option, and they don't run it anymore.
- 13:02Speaker 1: So well, this is what happens a lot of times in Miami.
- 13:05Speaker 1: You know, a lot of times in the past they get off to it.
- 13:09Speaker 1: They could get off to a hot start if they can get past that A&M game, if you have them doing Justin five and O, but this is where it gets tough.
- 13:17Speaker 1: This is that stretch starts October 14th on the road at UNC.
- 13:24Speaker 1: This was a shootout last year.
- 13:27Speaker 1: Yeah, drake May was able to outdual Van Dyke, but, you know, with some key fumbles.
- 13:33Speaker 1: I think in that game Miami would have maybe hung with him.
- 13:37Speaker 3: Yes, it was that stupid fumble.
- 13:39Speaker 3: Oh my God, I remember the podcast we did after that game.
- 13:42Speaker 3: I was so mad about those damn fumbles, yep.
- 13:45Speaker 1: Well, we have time for that later, oh plenty of time.
- 13:49Speaker 1: This is, uh, this is, I think.
- 13:51Speaker 1: Um, we'll see.
- 13:52Speaker 1: Well, who do you got in this game?
- 13:53Speaker 1: Justin, they're five and O they're going to be on the road.
- 13:56Speaker 1: Drake May at home, North Carolina, how do you see it?
- 14:02Speaker 3: Uh, I think Carolina boat races us.
- 14:04Speaker 1: Oh, all right so the first loss of the season.
- 14:09Speaker 2: I mean, I think I think the exact opposite actually.
- 14:13Speaker 2: Oh, I think they go on the road and, uh, show the rest of the country that Mac Brown needs to just let go yeah.
- 14:20Speaker 2: I mean.
- 14:22Speaker 1: I could see that.
- 14:23Speaker 1: You know there is a game.
- 14:24Speaker 1: You know a couple of times FSU got the best in North Carolina.
- 14:29Speaker 2: You know when they were down and yeah yeah, north North Carolina is not a, they seem, an overly intimidating place to play up on the heels of the quarterback right now, drake.
- 14:39Speaker 2: May is good quarterback.
- 14:40Speaker 2: Drake May is a pro in making, but I don't think they have a lot around him.
- 14:46Speaker 1: Right, I agree, I agree.
- 14:49Speaker 1: Um, give me the hurricanes.
- 14:53Speaker 1: How about that?
- 14:55Speaker 3: Yeah, the, the the Keynes fan on here is the one that says we get blown out.
- 14:59Speaker 3: I dig it I love it.
- 15:00Speaker 1: Well, now we all have the same record.
- 15:03Speaker 1: Okay, we're, all you know, in this together picking the hurricanes.
- 15:07Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 15:08Speaker 1: No, no, no, yeah.
- 15:09Speaker 1: But this is where it gets tough, we'll see how how much, and this is where we'll.
- 15:13Speaker 1: Then they go home.
- 15:14Speaker 1: They're playing Clemson no-transcript.
- 15:18Speaker 3: That's.
- 15:19Speaker 3: That's Clemson.
- 15:20Speaker 1: Automomanum coming off.
- 15:21Speaker 1: The wind on the road against North Carolina gets humbled as Dabu comes down and hands the hurricanes of loss.
- 15:30Speaker 2: I'll just blindly assume that by that time Garrett Riley's system will be working and humming, so that's you know, that's gonna be a tough one to win.
- 15:40Speaker 1: Alright, so that is.
- 15:41Speaker 1: And what about you, Justin?
- 15:45Speaker 3: Yeah, no, clemson's got that one Miami, and on that level Alright, so we're five and two, and then Virginia.
- 15:53Speaker 3: I've got my collapse starting right here.
- 15:56Speaker 3: If you couldn't tell.
- 15:58Speaker 1: Yeah, virginia, and that that's always been a bad matchup to, dating back to when they closed down the orange ball.
- 16:06Speaker 3: You had to do that.
- 16:07Speaker 3: Oh, I'm sorry you had to do that man.
- 16:12Speaker 2: We're gonna start talking wide right now, start bringing up traumatic.
- 16:16Speaker 2: Oh, I know right.
- 16:17Speaker 1: I know I mean we're like this, like similar to like the Wake Forest shut.
- 16:23Speaker 1: Now Bobby Bowden, probably Jesus.
- 16:25Speaker 2: I had to do that in the rain.
- 16:27Speaker 1: But yeah, virginia, this Tony Elliott, former off for offense coordinator at Clemson.
- 16:34Speaker 2: He's a fraud.
- 16:36Speaker 1: Yeah, so how do you see this one?
- 16:40Speaker 2: I have Miami winning like just comfortably.
- 16:42Speaker 2: Okay, I think Virginia is the worst team in the ACC.
- 16:45Speaker 1: Wow, I'm gonna agree with you there.
- 16:48Speaker 1: I don't think Miami to win this game at home.
- 16:52Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm gonna take Miami to and I think it's gonna be a really close game because of the history.
- 16:58Speaker 3: Miami and Virginia, I mean outside of them shutting down the orange bowl and just destroying us.
- 17:04Speaker 3: They're always the place close games last year the Miami Virginia game was a great game.
- 17:09Speaker 3: I mean, the ending sucked for me, but the game was super entertaining.
- 17:13Speaker 3: Yeah, so I'll take.
- 17:14Speaker 3: I'll take Miami and a close win.
- 17:16Speaker 1: That like the overtime game with the lowest.
- 17:19Speaker 1: Yes, oh my God, that was.
- 17:22Speaker 1: Both teams deserve to lose that game.
- 17:23Speaker 1: I remember doing that show.
- 17:27Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, that was like.
- 17:29Speaker 1: The final score was like less than 20.
- 17:32Speaker 1: And it was like what?
- 17:34Speaker 1: Three or four over time.
- 17:36Speaker 3: Yeah, it was.
- 17:36Speaker 3: It was horrible, dude.
- 17:38Speaker 3: I think that might have been the last game that wasn't on Valley Sports Network.
- 17:43Speaker 1: Yeah right, all right, so we got.
- 17:45Speaker 1: So we're all taking wins there.
- 17:47Speaker 1: Yeah, yep, all right, win, all right, so then it.
- 17:53Speaker 1: Then it get.
- 17:53Speaker 1: They were going on the road play NC State.
- 17:55Speaker 1: Tough defense.
- 17:56Speaker 1: They always have a tough defense A wolf pack do.
- 17:58Speaker 1: Will they have an offense, though I'm taking the wolf pack.
- 18:05Speaker 2: I'll take them as well.
- 18:06Speaker 2: They hired Robert and I from Virginia, the offensive coordinator.
- 18:10Speaker 2: All right, he's actually Syracuse last year, but two years ago he was at Virginia with Brennan Armstrong, who is now the NC State quarterback.
- 18:17Speaker 2: That's when, the only time Armstrong looked good in his entire career, I think being on the road, being in Raleigh, I think the wolf pack it'll be close.
- 18:28Speaker 2: It'll be close, but you're right, they got a good defense.
- 18:31Speaker 2: They lost some guys off that defense, but I'm picking the wolf pack in a close one.
- 18:36Speaker 1: All right.
- 18:38Speaker 3: Yeah, I got to go.
- 18:39Speaker 3: I got to go.
- 18:39Speaker 3: Nc State too.
- 18:40Speaker 3: I think also it'll be a close game.
- 18:42Speaker 3: But until until Cristobal shows me that he can be the quality team in a close game on the road, I can't pick them.
- 18:48Speaker 1: Okay, well, all right.
- 18:51Speaker 1: So now things have fallen off a little bit.
- 18:53Speaker 1: Still fighting, still fighting.
- 18:56Speaker 1: You know, you got a loss at NC State, you've lost to Clemson too, and then we both, we have three losses.
- 19:05Speaker 1: Now we all have met three losses.
- 19:06Speaker 1: So you send it, you send it six, and three right yeah, okay, okay.
- 19:10Speaker 3: Man, I got them losing three out of their last four.
- 19:12Speaker 3: At this point.
- 19:12Speaker 1: And we're going to Tallahassee.
- 19:13Speaker 1: Tallahassee, november 11th.
- 19:16Speaker 1: They're not I.
- 19:19Speaker 1: It's going to be better than last year, can't get worse.
- 19:22Speaker 1: But I think Miami, especially recently, is always played better in Tallahassee.
- 19:29Speaker 1: Oh yeah, without question.
- 19:30Speaker 1: This game will be close this game, but I think in the end Florida State is just better right now, so they win this game.
- 19:39Speaker 2: You know I'll pick Florida State, but watch it.
- 19:41Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm going to end up picking Miami when I had to do win.
- 19:44Speaker 2: Oh yeah, you always pick at fish.
- 19:47Speaker 1: That's why I'm not even going to include you when we do wins and losses.
- 19:49Speaker 1: Yeah, you'll have.
- 19:51Speaker 1: Florida State going like three and three and eight.
- 19:54Speaker 1: I didn't 75 at best.
- 19:58Speaker 1: You know All right.
- 20:00Speaker 1: So, um, all right.
- 20:01Speaker 1: So that's a loss there.
- 20:02Speaker 1: We all that's everyone's got it.
- 20:04Speaker 1: Fsu went in that game.
- 20:07Speaker 3: All right, yeah, I got it in another close one.
- 20:09Speaker 3: I could see that being similar to the game.
- 20:12Speaker 3: Two years ago we had it dope yeah.
- 20:15Speaker 1: I think after this game is going to be a critical point in the crystal ball air.
- 20:21Speaker 1: Is it going to have a stretch there?
- 20:23Speaker 1: You've lost some games but if you're able to win a few you're still bowl eligible.
- 20:28Speaker 1: You have two winnable games to finish the season.
- 20:30Speaker 1: To put a statement out there to recruit, say you're on the, you're on the rise here.
- 20:34Speaker 1: If Miami's on the way back, you want to come out here and dominate these next two games.
- 20:40Speaker 1: Finish the season off right and head into the off season on a high momentum.
- 20:45Speaker 1: But it starts at home against Louisville.
- 20:47Speaker 1: How you got this one?
- 20:49Speaker 1: I got.
- 20:52Speaker 1: I got them rebounding and beating Louisville, as do I as do I All right, yeah, yeah, no, malik Cunningham out there.
- 20:59Speaker 3: Yeah, I think you're a single player on that roster.
- 21:02Speaker 2: Well, they lost.
- 21:03Speaker 2: They lost some guys.
- 21:04Speaker 2: They got a new coach, brian Brom, so they're going to be going through a system change.
- 21:09Speaker 2: They're going to be throwing the ball a lot more, and that's just.
- 21:12Speaker 2: I don't know that.
- 21:12Speaker 2: They got a quarterback that can do that, so I got my.
- 21:15Speaker 2: Emmy winning that one.
- 21:17Speaker 1: All right, you two too.
- 21:19Speaker 1: So that what's the record now?
- 21:21Speaker 1: We got one loss, two losses.
- 21:25Speaker 2: Thank you Seven and four.
- 21:27Speaker 1: Three losses.
- 21:29Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 21:30Speaker 1: Five losses?
- 21:31Speaker 1: Nope.
- 21:32Speaker 1: Yeah, we got a win in the North Carolina game, that's right.
- 21:35Speaker 1: So we're seven and four.
- 21:37Speaker 1: At best it could be six and five.
- 21:41Speaker 3: So you're in a bowl game already and then because that six win, that six wins going to be over Bethune Cookman, so that don't count.
- 21:49Speaker 1: So here's the Wow.
- 21:51Speaker 1: So if you're at six, this is a bow eligibility on the line.
- 21:54Speaker 1: You're going up to chestnut Hill finishing the season at Boston College.
- 22:00Speaker 3: Yeah, I got to take Miami.
- 22:01Speaker 3: In that, I mean, I honestly I'm not coming from a place of knowledge here because I couldn't tell you one damn thing about BC right now, I Don't think, yeah.
- 22:11Speaker 2: I still think BC can't pass block.
- 22:13Speaker 2: They haven't been able to, and I'm gonna.
- 22:15Speaker 2: I'll pick Miami too, and I'm gonna say that I, I would not be surprised if Jeff Haffley is not even their coach at that point for BC.
- 22:22Speaker 2: All right, this is kind of a make-or-break year for him, and I don't, I don't see him doing anything.
- 22:28Speaker 1: So so we all have them.
- 22:30Speaker 1: I'm gonna go what I?
- 22:35Speaker 1: It's a tough one, though it's on the road and then it really depends on what, what happens.
- 22:41Speaker 2: Like you said, jimmy, what happens would be see the only thing they got going for him is that it's in Boston in November.
- 22:47Speaker 2: It's gonna be cold.
- 22:47Speaker 2: Nobody wants to play football up there, but that you know.
- 22:51Speaker 2: That's about it, man, I'm gonna take Miami.
- 22:53Speaker 1: All right, so we all have them going.
- 22:55Speaker 1: The same record.
- 22:56Speaker 1: Um yeah, eight and four man.
- 22:58Speaker 1: That's we have uh, justin, you have them going eight and four, jimmy eight and four, myself eight and four.
- 23:05Speaker 1: The only difference is Is you have the win against texas a&m, justin, and we have the uh one against carolina.
- 23:16Speaker 2: Yeah, so the conference is Kind of flip-flops in those two games, but I mean it, that's a good season.
- 23:23Speaker 1: Yeah, that's a really good season.
- 23:24Speaker 1: Eight and four.
- 23:25Speaker 1: Eight and four is the mark.
- 23:26Speaker 1: What is the over under this year from miami in vegas?
- 23:31Speaker 3: If I'm vegas, I put it at seven and a half.
- 23:33Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah.
- 23:36Speaker 1: That, there you go.
- 23:37Speaker 1: Well, miami eight and four, we'll see what happens.
- 23:40Speaker 1: The game it's getting close.
- 23:42Speaker 1: I can't wait, man.
- 23:44Speaker 2: Justin, I appreciate.
- 23:45Speaker 2: Yeah, two weeks, I know it's coming, it's uh.
- 23:48Speaker 3: All right, just got to finish up this little league world series, man, and then I'll be right into football.
- 23:53Speaker 1: All right, jesson, I appreciate you coming on, man, we'll talk to you next time.
- 23:56Speaker 3: All right, buddy, all right.
- 24:00Speaker 1: Well, we did miami schedule.
- 24:01Speaker 1: Good to have jesson on.
- 24:02Speaker 1: We all have them going eight and four.
- 24:04Speaker 1: Something tells me that would be a lot of if you could say, if you're a miami fan, a true miami fan, you'd sign that up Right.
- 24:13Speaker 1: There's probably always the fan that's going to be like yeah right, we're tuning two or something, but I'd take that right now if I was a miami fan yeah.
- 24:21Speaker 2: They'll.
- 24:22Speaker 2: They'll always be the miami fans that'll look at the FSU was a loss and be like man, uh Screw that yeah we want to be, and I get it.
- 24:29Speaker 2: Man, I'm the same way right, but it.
- 24:32Speaker 2: Eight and four is just.
- 24:35Speaker 2: Uh, you got that'd be a monumental season for christa ball it really would, because you have, not only do you have you yet under that scenario, you, they're playing.
- 24:44Speaker 2: Florida, stay close you know they beat somebody that they're not supposed to right.
- 24:49Speaker 2: It's.
- 24:49Speaker 2: You know a lot to sell recruits and it shows that they are improving.
- 24:54Speaker 1: Well why I got you here.
- 24:56Speaker 1: Fsu contributor, college football contributor.
- 25:00Speaker 1: More emphasis on that last part, especially new in the miami hurricane's preview, and so we'll write that me yeah, yeah, we'll keep it there, and we'll do florida.
- 25:07Speaker 1: We're gonna do florida schedule.
- 25:08Speaker 1: We'll pick wins and losses the same way.
- 25:10Speaker 1: We did it, just me and you.
- 25:11Speaker 1: We'll do it right here.
- 25:13Speaker 1: Florida opens up, though, and a rematch against utah.
- 25:16Speaker 1: They're going out there this time.
- 25:19Speaker 2: That that utah is just gonna get that revenge man um florida.
- 25:23Speaker 2: Florida doesn't ever leave the southeast to to play, not not early in the season.
- 25:29Speaker 2: You know this is gonna be new territory for them and I think it can.
- 25:33Speaker 1: You can get ugly quickly.
- 25:34Speaker 1: Yeah, you tell, has a quarterback, cameron, rising back.
- 25:37Speaker 2: That's right, 10th year, freshman Cameron rising.
- 25:40Speaker 2: Yeah um, cootie man, cootie he's, he's a beast.
- 25:43Speaker 2: I think they went big All right.
- 25:46Speaker 1: So that's uh oh, and one to start for the for the gators, and then they will be All right.
- 25:55Speaker 1: Where did I put that diagram schedule?
- 25:56Speaker 1: All right, then they're coming home, migny state.
- 26:02Speaker 3: That's a win, yeah.
- 26:03Speaker 1: Right.
- 26:03Speaker 1: And then it's the big one Tennessee.
- 26:05Speaker 1: Tennessee finally beat Florida last year.
- 26:10Speaker 2: That game was in Knoxville last year, so it's coming back to Gainesville home opener.
- 26:14Speaker 2: I mean I'm going to take Tennessee.
- 26:18Speaker 2: I'm just SEC home opener.
- 26:19Speaker 2: Yeah, assuming that they continue to look like they did last year, I don't have any reason to think Joe Milton's going to struggle.
- 26:28Speaker 2: But if he does, they got that hot shot.
- 26:30Speaker 2: Freshman was I'm a lever or something.
- 26:33Speaker 2: I got Tennessee winning.
- 26:34Speaker 1: Hmm, I do too.
- 26:36Speaker 1: So it's going to be that'll be a big game, and we'll see if Florida's defense can slow down Tennessee and where they can maybe pull off the upset, and then it's going to be Charlotte.
- 26:51Speaker 2: Charlotte to win.
- 26:52Speaker 1: Right, and then on the road, and then on a team that's given Gators trouble, and that's Mark Stoops, mark Stoops and Kentucky and Kentucky.
- 27:03Speaker 2: Well, they got a new quarterback, Devon Leary.
- 27:05Speaker 2: We're familiar with him.
- 27:07Speaker 2: I've transferred from NC.
- 27:09Speaker 2: Yeah, I, you know.
- 27:13Speaker 2: I just don't trust Kentucky and I don't know, I don't know.
- 27:19Speaker 2: I want to pick Kentucky because you know, I don't want to think Mark Stoops is going to lose to Graham Mertz, but I'm going to pick the Gators.
- 27:28Speaker 2: I'm going to think they're going to get the upset on the road.
- 27:32Speaker 3: Oh.
- 27:32Speaker 2: I think they'll be able to rely on that running game, which is going to be really good, you know, I guess that's going to be the strength of their offense and I think they can get it done.
- 27:40Speaker 1: Definitely want to have the running game, especially on the road, all right, so.
- 27:43Speaker 2: Jimmy, I'm a lot.
- 27:45Speaker 2: I'm not really as high on Devon Leary as a lot of people are and were when he was at NC State.
- 27:50Speaker 2: I think he's just kind of a mid tier quarterback but maybe not All right.
- 27:55Speaker 2: But I am picking the Gators.
- 27:57Speaker 1: All right, so that is a two and two start.
- 28:01Speaker 1: Three and two, I believe three and two yeah, I forgot about that Charlotte games.
- 28:04Speaker 1: So three and two.
- 28:05Speaker 1: You got wins over McNeese State, charlotte, now Kentucky, the first SEC win.
- 28:11Speaker 1: Then it's going to be home against Vanderbilt.
- 28:15Speaker 1: See if they can get revenge.
- 28:16Speaker 1: The Commodore's upset the Gators last year.
- 28:19Speaker 2: Yeah, they'll get revenge.
- 28:22Speaker 2: Yeah, no, no, no, hail Mary into the ninth row of the stands this year.
- 28:29Speaker 1: Yeah, that was a weird throw man.
- 28:30Speaker 1: Who was he thrown into?
- 28:32Speaker 1: I mean, he was just trying to show up that arm strength.
- 28:34Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 28:36Speaker 1: And it paid off?
- 28:36Speaker 1: Yeah, it did.
- 28:38Speaker 1: Somebody was impressed, according to big time, note number four in the draft.
- 28:43Speaker 1: That's right, All right, so you got.
- 28:47Speaker 1: So you got them winning at home against Vanderbilt, all right.
- 28:50Speaker 1: So then this is where it gets tough On the road up against Beamer in Columbia, at the Gamecocks in South Carolina.
- 29:01Speaker 2: Yeah it's, it's going to be a revenge game for South Carolina.
- 29:04Speaker 2: Mm.
- 29:05Speaker 2: Hmm, that that game last year was one of those eye openers on the schedule that just did not seem like it was normal.
- 29:15Speaker 2: But I mean, I think they're going to win big in Columbia, is it Columbia, south Carolina?
- 29:20Speaker 2: Yeah, you got it, yeah.
- 29:22Speaker 1: You think the Gators are?
- 29:23Speaker 1: No, no, no, no, no, no.
- 29:25Speaker 2: Think the game car.
- 29:25Speaker 2: I think it's going to get really rough for Florida throughout for the rest of their schedule.
- 29:32Speaker 1: Yeah, I didn't, did I say.
- 29:35Speaker 1: I said they're going to lose.
- 29:36Speaker 1: I can tell you, you got them winning, I got them losing All right, so, all right.
- 29:41Speaker 1: So then it's Georgia number one.
- 29:43Speaker 1: Georgia at the cocktail party.
- 29:46Speaker 2: Yeah, just keep the law.
- 29:48Speaker 1: Keep the L train.
- 29:49Speaker 2: Keep the L train coming.
- 29:50Speaker 1: All right, let's see.
- 29:52Speaker 1: And then we have Arkansas.
- 29:56Speaker 2: Arkansas.
- 29:56Speaker 2: That this is I mean.
- 30:00Speaker 1: I really think it's a must win.
- 30:01Speaker 2: Yeah, it is a must win.
- 30:02Speaker 2: I think Arkansas is going to be more consistent this year.
- 30:07Speaker 2: You know Kendall Briles man, he can, he's good for about a quarter as the offensive coordinator.
- 30:15Speaker 2: You know they replaced him with Dan Enos and you know they'd look really good at times last year but then they'd kind of they just run and hide in the game.
- 30:24Speaker 2: I think they'll be more consistent.
- 30:25Speaker 2: I got Arkansas winning this game.
- 30:28Speaker 1: Four and five no.
- 30:30Speaker 2: Yeah, I got him sitting at four and five.
- 30:32Speaker 2: Wow, and look, you know, at this point I think a lot.
- 30:39Speaker 1: I'm going to go win here.
- 30:40Speaker 1: So we're both that same record though.
- 30:43Speaker 2: Yeah, and I don't you know, I don't know who's playing QB at at for Florida at this point, wow.
- 30:50Speaker 1: I through.
- 30:52Speaker 2: I'm on record as not being a fan of Graham Mertz.
- 30:54Speaker 2: I don't think he's a power five quarterback, but we got one, two, three, four five losses, now Five losses.
- 31:06Speaker 1: What are they?
- 31:06Speaker 1: Four and five, yeah, two games left.
- 31:08Speaker 1: Wait, three games left.
- 31:10Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 31:12Speaker 1: All right Next is at LSU.
- 31:17Speaker 2: Well, you know, I mean I.
- 31:20Speaker 2: How do you pick them to win?
- 31:23Speaker 1: at LSU.
- 31:23Speaker 1: You don't, you don't?
- 31:24Speaker 1: That's a loss?
- 31:25Speaker 1: Yeah, they haven't really.
- 31:27Speaker 1: The Gators have a tough schedule, especially once they get tough schedule.
- 31:32Speaker 2: That's this.
- 31:32Speaker 2: And at this point, like you got to, you got to start also kind of considering what could be going on during the week between games at this point in the season with this kind of record.
- 31:42Speaker 1: You know is.
- 31:43Speaker 3: Napier the coach, if he is still the coach, or is he?
- 31:47Speaker 1: you know, oh well, I tell you what it's really going to.
- 31:51Speaker 1: Then then you have, you got to add LSU, then there's at Missouri to finish off conference season.
- 31:58Speaker 2: I think they can beat Missouri on the road.
- 32:00Speaker 2: Missouri is another team, that is just, you know, jekyll and Hyde.
- 32:07Speaker 1: So and then the rivalry game hosting Florida State in the season.
- 32:13Speaker 2: Yeah, there's no.
- 32:14Speaker 2: Listen, this was a battle last year.
- 32:18Speaker 2: Yeah, it was, it was.
- 32:20Speaker 2: But if both teams are relatively healthy, like there isn't a reason that this game should be close.
- 32:28Speaker 2: Besides the fact that it's in Gainesville and it's a rivalry, florida State has the better roster.
- 32:34Speaker 2: You know, I'm not.
- 32:36Speaker 2: You know I'm not going to guarantee that Florida State is going to win because, same thing with the Miami man, you start asking me about Florida.
- 32:42Speaker 1: States yeah, five and seven, yeah, yeah, is what you got.
- 32:46Speaker 2: I got him yeah, I got him at five and seven and that's what I had, to know that.
- 32:50Speaker 1: I think last year I was down.
- 32:54Speaker 2: No, hey, you never know, it could easily be the other way, man, that's true.
- 32:59Speaker 1: I think the big game is going to be at Kentucky.
- 33:00Speaker 1: Yeah, I think Florida, looking at the schedule, you know that out of conference game it's going to be big, you know, but In terms of getting off you're, yeah, well, probably not going to be their game against Utah is a lot like our game against.
- 33:16Speaker 1: Lsu.
- 33:17Speaker 2: Right, it's a beauty pageant for networks.
- 33:19Speaker 2: Yeah, you can get blown out and still have the entire rest of your season to prove what you are as a football team.
- 33:27Speaker 1: Well, that would be a step back.
- 33:29Speaker 1: As Florida did make a bowl in Napier's first year, you have them not making a bowl in a second year.
- 33:36Speaker 2: I do.
- 33:36Speaker 2: I just think they took a step back at the most critical position in football and that's quarterback, and I don't think that there's anything in that QB room that is going to really challenge Graham Mertz in terms of you know, this guy should definitely be starting over him, so we'll see you though.
- 33:55Speaker 1: Let's.
- 33:55Speaker 1: You heard it.
- 33:57Speaker 1: We gotta get on out of here.
- 33:58Speaker 1: Well, hey, we'll see how it plays out.
- 34:02Speaker 1: Miami eight and four according to Jimmy Reno.
- 34:06Speaker 1: Florida five and seven according to Jimmy Reno.
- 34:09Speaker 1: Mark it down, put it on a T-shirt, put it on the board.
- 34:15Speaker 1: Well, if you wanna make your picks for those two teams, you can tweet the show at the NFL SN or you can email me your picks at Austin.
- 34:24Speaker 1: Go ahead, tell me I'm wrong At the NFLSNcom.
- 34:27Speaker 1: I don't think I'm gonna let you do FSU wins and losses, man, I told you already, man.
- 34:33Speaker 2: Six to six, seven to five.
- 34:35Speaker 2: The best.
- 34:35Speaker 2: What was it?
- 34:39Speaker 2: 0 and 13, 2013?
- 34:41Speaker 1: Oh yeah, They've been over in a UNF practicing.
- 34:47Speaker 2: That's a recruiting thing, right?
- 34:48Speaker 2: I guess man Still kind of a head scratcher, but maybe he just wants to make him uncomfortable.
- 34:53Speaker 1: That's a traditional thing, you know.
- 34:54Speaker 1: I think they're practicing taking that road trip, getting ready, yeah distractions Make them uncomfortable.
- 35:01Speaker 2: Yeah, switch it up.
- 35:03Speaker 1: Yeah, they've done it.
- 35:03Speaker 1: It's getting close, man, man, it's getting close.
- 35:08Speaker 1: Yeah they've already had one scrimmage.
- 35:11Speaker 2: Yeah, so it's what?
- 35:13Speaker 2: Do they have Three total.
- 35:16Speaker 1: Yeah, three total scrimmages.
- 35:17Speaker 1: What are you hearing?
- 35:19Speaker 1: Broccoli in man pork, yeah, the freshman quarterback Big pork.
- 35:25Speaker 1: The guy that former commit to Ohio State Right, yeah, I'm talking about.
- 35:30Speaker 2: that Seems like between the ears he might be a little bit ahead of his peers, a little bit.
- 35:37Speaker 1: Number 11.
- 35:38Speaker 1: Well, that's good to hear.
- 35:41Speaker 1: I always like to hear the quarterbacks or understand.
- 35:45Speaker 2: I heard Jeheem Bell kind of showed out a little bit.
- 35:48Speaker 1: Broccoli.
- 35:49Speaker 2: Quite a few tackles is what it sounds like, what it reads like Well, we got some FSU questions to go over.
- 35:56Speaker 1: We're gonna do that later in the week.
- 35:58Speaker 1: We're gonna talk about the ball on offense and who's it gonna go to with all the weapons.
- 36:05Speaker 1: How are you gonna spread it around?
- 36:06Speaker 1: What's the plan gonna be?
- 36:07Speaker 1: We got plenty of time to get into that plan as we look ahead to the college football season.
- 36:13Speaker 1: I'm gonna do wins and losses.
- 36:14Speaker 1: We also wanna do wins and losses for prime out of Colorado too.
- 36:18Speaker 1: We're gonna do that too.
- 36:19Speaker 2: Yeah, I will participate in that.
- 36:20Speaker 2: Yeah, we're gonna do that.
- 36:22Speaker 1: Down there and subscribe wherever you get your podcasts.
- 36:24Speaker 1: Thank you for listening and we'll do it again and we'll talk to you next time right here in the North Florida Sports Network.
- 36:30Speaker 1: We had to go, our ride was here, we got a shuttle.
