- 0:02Yes, sir, we back again another edition episode What is it sixty five?
- 0:08Man? Yeah, we sixty five? Yeah, sixty five Episode sixty
- 0:11five or the Grounded Show. I'm here with the boys and plus one more
- 0:16of the boys. We got the low ray on this week. What's going
- 0:20on? Man? It's good guys. How you doing? Thanks for having
- 0:23me on? Man, Yes, sir, Man, thanks Man to tell
- 0:27everybody that's you know, listening, thanks you for having us on. We
- 0:31were on your show here to the Grind Radio, your radio station. I
- 0:37think I was on maybe like two months ago or something. Quincy was on
- 0:41like two weeks ago. Yeah, yeah, man, And that was a
- 0:45super dope vibe. The studio is super nice to set up you guys,
- 0:48super dope. The interview was super dope. Everything was though. Man,
- 0:52how's that been going for you? I appreciate that, man. We put
- 0:56a lot of work behind it. The first episode was in the like slummy
- 1:00super ghetto basement studio. That was not a good look. My boss LV
- 1:04step the game. I got the Hill Studio, the Hill spot fors and
- 1:08it's just been dope, bro. Like I recently stopped being an artist,
- 1:12you know, I'm always be a rapper. You know that's in my heart,
- 1:15But as far as pursuing an artist, I let that go. So
- 1:19hosting has just been really dope, bro, because it's been so natural.
- 1:23Everything has just been flown to the point where I'm like, I made the
- 1:26right decision, you feel me? Yeah, I want to definitely ask you
- 1:30about that because I know you've been getting involved in a lot of different types
- 1:34of events and doing different stuff than what you were doing before, and you've
- 1:38been flourishing, you know what I mean, You've been doing a lot of
- 1:40different things, and we're definitely going to get into that first. I definitely
- 1:45wanted to tap in a few topics around, you know, the music verse
- 1:49this week, just the kind of things that kind of stood out to me.
- 1:53One thing that I kind of liked, just because a lot of stuff
- 1:56has been coming up about concerts in general, especially Taylor Swift, if Drake,
- 2:00that's always in the news his concerts, especially the big ones. I
- 2:04mean they're all big, but you know, Beyonce what she got going on.
- 2:07But I recently came across an article that was they were interviewing Jadakiss,
- 2:15and Jadakiss was saying that he got fifty Cents tour, like above any of
- 2:22the other tours. He specifically said, you know, above Drake and Beyonce's
- 2:24tours, you know what I mean, just as far how good it is,
- 2:28Yeah, just as far as the show, you know, like the
- 2:30type of music and everything. He just his specific quote is this for the
- 2:37music that we do. To see people up in that kind of caliber from
- 2:40our cloth to music, to have that kind of production and see my dudes
- 2:45up there, that ship is incredible. And you know that was him talking
- 2:47about when he was a special guest on a couple of the dates. And
- 2:53yeah, man, that Final Lap Tour is what it's called. And I
- 2:57can imagine that man, just because the kind kind of guessed that he has
- 3:00out there slashed the catalogs they have, and just when you have a good
- 3:06rapper and this is something that the lorry could hit first pause, But when
- 3:10you got a good rapper that knows how to actually perform in a seasoned and
- 3:15it's actually an EMC, they can put these types of shows together and it's
- 3:20something that always hits, you know what I mean. So what do you
- 3:23think the Lorrie about j D Kiss saying that about fifty tour I'm gonna keep
- 3:28with a stack with you, Bro. I didn't know nothing about nothing with
- 3:31Beyonce Jake, I don't. I don't keep up with mainstream stuff like that
- 3:37these days. I'm going too until the local seeing my boys that's doing music,
- 3:40because that's more what I do now. But I'm gonna say this,
- 3:45I have seen a clip of Buster Rhymes at the fifty show right at that
- 3:50tour, and Buster was geeked like you would have thought he was on something.
- 3:54He was so geek boy, and they had to fly going and it
- 4:00was just like yo. So from based off, that's the only thing I
- 4:02know about it. To keep it real, I can't talk like I know
- 4:04about it, but that's the only thing I've seen from it. Dad was
- 4:09legit, bro, Like Wow, I could imagine that was a really really
- 4:12dope show and a really really dope tour when you got a legend like Bust
- 4:15the bus acting the way he was acting and he wasn't on the song and
- 4:18nothing like that had nothing to do enohing. He was just a fan.
- 4:21Ye that tells you everything. That tells me everything from me, Yeah,
- 4:25definitely, especially with how great of a performer he is and how much he
- 4:29puts into his live show. For him to appreciate it like that, that's
- 4:32something that definitely got to be respected. What about you, Joe. I
- 4:38saw him bring out eminem for a patiently waiting the whole fucking place blew up,
- 4:43And that's one of my favorite checks that I would have got the chill.
- 4:45I got the chills watching that ship. For them to do it,
- 4:47it was twenty years ago when they actually did it like his I'm actual out
- 4:53tour, and it's just crazy to see how that same energy. It's probably
- 4:57crazier now than it's back then. What's your think, Quincy? Honestly,
- 5:04Brou, I'm not surprised because I was supposed to go to the show in
- 5:09Atlanta, but the same weekend that he was here, I was on vacation
- 5:13and uh Maryland, so I couldn't make it, And obviously none of the
- 5:16other shows coincided with where I was gonna go. But I mean, it's
- 5:20fifty brou, you know what I'm saying. Like and and the fact that
- 5:24you know, he was basically doing an anniversary style tour of his old you
- 5:29know, of his project, of his biggest project. You know, I
- 5:32just didn't I didn't expect anything less, you know what I mean, Like
- 5:34he he has built his career so well that of course Buster is gonna come
- 5:39out and support you know what I mean. Of course Eminem's gonna come out
- 5:43and support. Man. He's what he's done for not just music, but
- 5:46just for the culture is huge. So people respect that and and gonna come
- 5:50out and show love. And so I'm not surprised, man, I'm just
- 5:53mad I didn't make it. Hey, if I can see one more thing
- 5:59on that us, yes, yes, do you think? Bro? Yeah?
- 6:03So I seen Nas, Woutang and Tampa last year, right that toy
- 6:10they was doing, Yeah, and nobody knew Bust. Nobody knew Bust was
- 6:14a part of the show, right, And so it was Woutang and then
- 6:18in between before Nas came out, Busted a set with splip Star and anybody
- 6:24who went to that show, Bro, Like, it was dope to see
- 6:26Wood because I've never seen him. Nas is my favorite rappers, So that
- 6:29was just a whole nother level. But Bus as far as breath control,
- 6:32as far as the engineering of this his set, and as far as his
- 6:39stage presence, Bro, I have never ever seen a performance a rapper single
- 6:45band, it didn't matter. I've never seen a set like Bust and Splip
- 6:48Star set. Bro. I mean it was next level, bro, and
- 6:51he was really rapping. It wasn't rapping over vocals, it wasn't rapping over
- 6:57performance. Bet. You know what I'm saying. Like anybody who went to
- 7:00the shohow was like, yeah, it was dope. Nah who of course,
- 7:04but they were like yo, Boston like Yo, it was next level.
- 7:08So for him to be that type of showman and be at that fifty
- 7:12cent show like that and you could tell he was it was Orgain, it
- 7:15was natural, It's organ He wasn't in capit like it was. He was
- 7:17really geeked at that fifty joint. So that just says a lot, you
- 7:20know what I'm saying. Yeah, for the caliber or show that he puts
- 7:24on. For him to go there and feel that from those tracks and that
- 7:29performance and that energy, I mean, there's there's no bigger stamp than that,
- 7:33you know what I mean? Right? Yo? Quick quick thoughts on
- 7:38this one, because I don't really want to get too much sports talk like
- 7:41that, But what y'all think about Damian Litterard to the Bucks. It's official.
- 7:46It's not even get him. I think Boston would get him still,
- 7:53he said, what, I think Boston could get them still, I wouldn't
- 8:00be surprised if they did. But at the same time, I'm just not
- 8:05a big fan of Boston's dynamic down the stretch, you know what I mean,
- 8:09Like they just got this squad that there's like too many similar skills,
- 8:16the thing that Tatum lacks, Brown doesn't really bring it, and vice versa.
- 8:22It's like a kind of thing that I just never thought that worked out
- 8:24from the start, you know what I mean. They just they're a really
- 8:28good team that has a lot of really good pieces, and because the pieces
- 8:31are so good, they're able to be successful. But every year, it's
- 8:35like the team is almost different every year because you're trying to like people do
- 8:41stuff that they don't do, you know what I mean. That's why I
- 8:45like Little to the Bucks because he just gotta be him. Jannest just gotta
- 8:48be him. And then the whole players are the ones that gotta adjust,
- 8:52which they always gotta adjust anyway, you know, be honest, went to
- 8:56the Bucks. Yeah, and now now you're talking about he might even sign
- 9:01that extension, you know what I mean? This thing doubly could destroy Miami
- 9:05because they didn't get Lillard. Plus if if Yannis resigns with the Bucks now
- 9:11he's not going to Miami either, because that was the thing before too.
- 9:15So it's just crazy how it shook out like Miami like doubly lost and they
- 9:20got to play and they gotta play the more. Yeah like that, you
- 9:26know, they got to see them more now, you know what I mean.
- 9:28So it's like even that mental you know, if they like that first
- 9:31game, if the Bucks take it, I don't know, man, that
- 9:35might mess Miami up mentally, you know what I mean. Yeah, facts,
- 9:41they'll have his number. But yeah, man, I had another article
- 9:46to talk about, but it was about Kanye, and as we've spoken,
- 9:50I'm just like, man, never mind, Yeah, the doctor Dre thing,
- 9:58but yeah, I want to know about that, but we guess,
- 10:00yeah, yeah, we'll touch on the next time, if anything, because
- 10:03we're gonna go down that Kanye loophole, man, and we just forever.
- 10:09But yeah, the reason I wanted to have you on is you were You
- 10:15were always somebody that I thought about to have on the podcast, just because
- 10:18you have a real dope story and just seeing your growth like over the past
- 10:22few years, because like at this point, even the change that you had,
- 10:26you've been in that change for like many years, you know what I'm
- 10:30saying. So like you're you You've gone through the growth and you've like cultivated
- 10:35it and you're still you know, you're keeping it going, you know,
- 10:39going into the future. So I always respect that, you know what I'm
- 10:41saying. But if you yes, struggle still real. Though, the struggle
- 10:46is still real, man. Don't that social media for you, bro?
- 10:50Every day is still a struggle for me, man. Yeah, in fact,
- 10:52I feel that man, every everybody kind of man. This is something
- 10:58that I talk about when it comes to business too, like that people always
- 11:01forget that we're all people at the end of the day, so they'd be
- 11:03doing these weird things in business not thinking about it just from the human side,
- 11:07which makes it so much easier. But even just from the point of
- 11:11view where you're saying, like the struggle and everything, like just give people
- 11:15a little bit of background to like kind of you know, your upbringing,
- 11:18the kind of things that you ran into as far as trouble goes, and
- 11:22how you kind of made a change. Yeah, man, I tried to
- 11:28give you the cliff notes, you know, because it is kind of an
- 11:30end up story because it's been ten years now. You know, my life
- 11:35changed ten years ago and it's never been the same sense. But now I
- 11:39just grew up a regular dude. Man. But I grew up in a
- 11:41rough neighborhood, you know what I'm saying. I definitely didn't grow up like
- 11:46most dudes with my skin complexion, you could say, but I got into
- 11:52a lot of stuff at an early age. Man, I was running while
- 11:54really young. My grandfather was in the minefield rest and peace. That's the
- 12:00only reason I could say that. You know, if he wasn't still alive,
- 12:03I would not even touch on that. But I just grew up always
- 12:07seeing gangster's brow and like things never made sense of my life until I got
- 12:11older because I was the baby of the family, so you know, I
- 12:13was sheltered from that from that life. But like my neighborhood, my grandfather,
- 12:18like I just always seen it, and like I had a natural gift
- 12:22for learning things quick. I had a natural gift with people. So of
- 12:26course, you know, I jumped off the porch. I started doing my
- 12:28thing in the streets and at a young age, and then before I knew
- 12:33it around high school. It just got out of control. Man. I
- 12:35went from selling drugs to really addicted to drugs, and like I would do
- 12:39my whole real you know what I'm saying. Well, I used to make
- 12:41mad money and then now I'm not making nothing because I was an addict,
- 12:43you know what I'm saying. And then I went from like I always trying
- 12:48to stay humble. You feel me, I never ever want to to boost
- 12:50myself up at all, you know, And part of my story is humility
- 12:56and transparency because then it's not as powerful if I'm like not real about it.
- 13:01But you know what I'm saying. I had always had a nice always
- 13:05had jewelry, I always had a nice girlfriend. Everybody knew me. And
- 13:09then it went to like straight up crack cad status bro where like I went
- 13:13from the man to to really like a junkie pretty much, man. And
- 13:20I went from selling drugs to being addicted to drugs for fifteen years. Man,
- 13:24in fifteen years of my life, I was in this crazy cycle of
- 13:28just getting high, coming down doing whatever. I couldn't get money, like
- 13:33broke, like poor broke, Like I used to sleep on the floor in
- 13:37the trap house on a tile floor with my pitbull. I had this giant
- 13:41pit bull rest in peace, Tally on member Tally, and I would use
- 13:43Tally as a pillow on a tile floor in a trap house like I would
- 13:48sleep in abandoned houses like just rock bottoms. And then one day I had
- 13:54my man's from back home. I was meanness man and like a trailer part
- 14:00and they would let me live there for free as part of my job,
- 14:05you know what I'm saying. So it was like the perfect job for a
- 14:07drug addict because I always had I finally had a little stable spot. All
- 14:11I had to do was get up and go to work every day. But
- 14:13my man's just going through a hard time back home. I told him come,
- 14:18you know, come to Florida, Come stay on my on my little
- 14:22couch. When I said I lived in a trailer, it was like a
- 14:24trailer trailer, like not like a mobile home, like a little last trailer.
- 14:28And we had got drunk man. Long story short, And at the
- 14:33time, I was on felony drug probation for four and a half years.
- 14:35I had caught three felony drug chargers and I had one year left to go
- 14:39on this felony probation, and my man said, got twisted and came out
- 14:43of his mouth sideways, sucker punched me. We had got to this big
- 14:48ass fight. I took him outside and like you know, warm them out,
- 14:50and the neighbors had caught the cops and like swat team came to the
- 14:54crib because I guess the lady had a little exaggerated a little bit saying like
- 14:58I was killing the dude. I was gonna kill him or something. But
- 15:01so our team came into the crib and everything was coaster bro We bought were
- 15:07old friends, were from the hook. We know how to play it.
- 15:09We're not giving them nothing, you feel me. And so they was mad
- 15:13that no, but he wasn't trying to press charges on me or they didn't
- 15:16have nothing they could take me in on. So then they start going with
- 15:18my name and stuff, and they're like, yo, you want you want
- 15:22drug probation right now, So like we need to go on your crib,
- 15:24and so they go on my house. They come out the house and they
- 15:28got like you know, in the past, I said, like an amount,
- 15:31but just to keep it a stack. I don't know exactly how much
- 15:35it was, but it was a big bag, Like, I've never really
- 15:37seen that much blow before, man. But they came out with a big
- 15:41gass bag of cocaine. Man, and they're like, Yo, it's your
- 15:43house. You on probation, you get knocked for this, man, And
- 15:46I'm like, Yo, at that time, I was a co catt son
- 15:50and we was both drunk. I was like, if I had, I
- 15:52would have been doing it. You feel me like still to this day,
- 15:56they plan they planted that on me, son. I know for a fact
- 15:58they answered on me. So I had one year left the probation. Now
- 16:03I'm going to jail for felony possession of cocaine and felony possession to a distribute,
- 16:07attempt to distribute, and felony violation of probation. And it's a whole
- 16:11crazy story that I don't want to take up too much time that process.
- 16:15But in that time, man, I'm in jail and I'm thinking, Yo,
- 16:19how did I get knocked for the one drug I had a problem with?
- 16:22Falsely? Like, I'm getting falsely arrested for cocaine when I had a
- 16:26really bad cocaine problem, bro. And it was like the Twilight Zone stuff.
- 16:30I'm just sitting in the jail cell, going like, yo, this
- 16:33is like God, Like this is crazy, son, Like if it had
- 16:36been any of a drug, I would have took the charge. I would
- 16:38have been like whatever I would have got out went right back to the same
- 16:41stuff, you know, And like I'm not gonna get preachy with you guys.
- 16:44You know what I'm saying. But I am a man, a guy,
- 16:45I'm a Christian, you know what I'm saying. And they say God
- 16:47works in mysterious ways, and that was definitely the case in my spot.
- 16:51Bro, getting knocked for the drug I had a problem with falsely. So
- 16:55my lawyer is like, you're gonna do a year in jail when the trial
- 16:59starts. The minimum they want to give you fifteen years in prison. And
- 17:03it's just like crashed on me. Like I had done a mad time before,
- 17:07but never no hard time. I never been up the road, nothing
- 17:08like that. So it was it was crazy, but I just made a
- 17:11decision right there, like, Bro, this life is not leading me nowhere.
- 17:15So I had overdose a couple of times. I've been through home invasions,
- 17:18I've been robbed, I've been shot at, like just and then getting
- 17:22knocked for this drug that wasn't mine. Like, it was just enough.
- 17:26Bro. I was like twenty eight years old at the time, and I
- 17:30was just like, yo, I just had enough, man. So I
- 17:32made that decision in that day in jail to change my life and get sober
- 17:37and just start being more on a righteous path. And then everything went away.
- 17:41Bro. Like the state attorney has to communicate with your lawyers. My
- 17:45lawyers telling me worst case scenario that first trial day. I'm not like,
- 17:51it's a whole crazy story, like it just take up too much time.
- 17:53But long story shortly, go ahead, elaborate on that part what you're getting
- 17:59into, all right. So, so I was able to get bailed out
- 18:03on the possession charge. So I was in I was in on Osiola County
- 18:07for like a week or two, and I was able to get bailed out
- 18:11on the possession charge. Because then I have to turn my supposed to get
- 18:12bailed out. No you can't. Yeah, you can get bailed on all
- 18:18those types of charges. But the thing is, there's so many people on
- 18:22probation in Central Florida that the violation of probation is how they get you.
- 18:26That's the charges they really want to get you on because it's like a double
- 18:30charge. And so there's so many people on probation and Central Florida that it
- 18:36takes time. So the VOP wasn't going through the system yet. It was
- 18:41only the possession charge and the attempt to distribute charge. So I got bailed
- 18:44out on those charges after like a couple of weeks in county and Osiola County,
- 18:48and and then the time came for me to turn myself in on the
- 18:52VOP. So this is after I changed my life, after I made the
- 18:56decision and change my life, after I prayed to God and made a little
- 19:00pack where God like, yo, like this life is done. So I'm
- 19:02like so real quick. And I wasn't made that decision in jail when you
- 19:06originally got knocked, but then you still had a little time period where you
- 19:11were going to figure out what was going to happen with the charges and everything,
- 19:12and you were bailed out of that situation now in jail. In jail,
- 19:18my mind, the wheels was turning, you feel me, The wheels
- 19:22was turning in jail. And then when I got bailed out, I was
- 19:25free, and it was just like this wave of like I don't even know
- 19:29how to describe it. To you unless you felt that same feeling, like
- 19:32we call it conviction. And it was just this wave of conviction where I
- 19:36was like, I knew I had to change my life. And so while
- 19:37I was bailed out before I had to turn myself in again, is when
- 19:41I made that decision to change and you know, set a prayer to God
- 19:45or whatnot. And it wasn't like I was scared to go to prison.
- 19:49I just felt like my life was gonna end in some tragic wave. I
- 19:53didn't change, and so I felt like God, like they say real recognized
- 19:57real. God saw that I was being real about it, and I wasn't
- 20:00just scared to go to prison, so he looked out bro. So when
- 20:04I went to turn myself in for the violation of probation, it was at
- 20:08thirty third because I was on probation in Orange County, even though I lived
- 20:11in Osceola County, And they put you in this little room downstairs, like
- 20:17well, you if you go visit somebody, you might have noticed there's like
- 20:19this little plexiglass room, but everybody shackled up and you're not in bookings yet,
- 20:25like you haven't gone through processing. You're not in the jail you're just
- 20:26waiting to go up there. And I was in there for like an hour
- 20:30and this guy comes in and he's like, yo, Jonathan, they told
- 20:34him, and I'm like yeah. He's like, come with me. I'm
- 20:37getting your size and your weight. You're getting out of here. And I'm
- 20:40like, yo, getting out, Like I'm turning myself in for felony violation
- 20:42of probation. I'm already a felon and I got two pending felony drug charges
- 20:48on top of my felonies that are already caught. Like there's got to be
- 20:52a mistake. And he's like nah, Like a judge facts us a letter
- 20:56saying put you on pre trial release until your trial starts. And I've been
- 21:02in the game for a minute, bro. Preacher releases for misdemeanor crimes like
- 21:04first defenders. It's not for people poll that got the record that I had.
- 21:08You feel me. But at the same time, I wasn't for an
- 21:11argue. I wasn't for an argue. So without like an hour tour with
- 21:18an hour in turn of myself, I'm getting released. And the whole thing
- 21:22was crazy, to the point where I called my lawyer and she's like,
- 21:25they let you go, and I'm like, yeah, they said preach release.
- 21:27She says, man, go check in with pre Charlie's right now,
- 21:30and go home and don't leave your house till this trial starts. You know
- 21:33what I'm saying, Like, don't do nothing. But like everybody had said
- 21:37the good writtence to me, son, like to the point I didn't even
- 21:38have a ride home from thirty third living in Cassime, you know what I'm
- 21:41saying. So it was like everybody's expecting me gone for a long time,
- 21:45and I had found a ride and whatnot. But then things got really weird.
- 21:52For that first trial day, right, which is probably like six months
- 21:56after I got they let me go and put me on prechrol release. And
- 22:00that first trial day, the lawyers like, I'm gonna send you a paper
- 22:03in the mail and you just show up on time. Dress nice, whoo
- 22:07woo woo. And so I get there. I wasn't even thinking Bro,
- 22:11Like this whole time in my life was like the Twilight Zone. I was
- 22:12dizzy every day. You know, It's like the craziest thing that ever happened
- 22:17to me. And I didn't even pay attention to Bro. I just went
- 22:19and I'm like, yo, why am I at thirty third for court?
- 22:25But it was at thirty third And so I go to the same spot where
- 22:30I turned myself in, at the same place you would go visit somebody and
- 22:33they're like, what do you here? Who you here to see? And
- 22:36I'm like, nah, I'm here for court. And they said, we'll
- 22:37go to the courthouse. And I'm like, nah, like you don't understand,
- 22:41Like I got this paper, like I'm here for court, and they're
- 22:44like that don't make no sense. Go down this hallway and talk to the
- 22:47you know, in Florida, it's not CEOs, the sheriff's you know what
- 22:49I'm saying. And they got like an observation deck where the sheriffs who observed
- 22:55the jail with all the cameras. It's kind of like behind the scenes.
- 22:57But they told me to go down and talk to him, and I'll go
- 23:00talk to them, and they I said the same thing, like I'm here
- 23:03for court, and they're like, go to the courthouse. I'm like,
- 23:06bro, listen, it's about the store. I got this paper for my
- 23:11lawyer. I showed him the paper. They said, all right, hold
- 23:12on one second, what's your name? I told him my name. The
- 23:15dude Radio's in. He's like, what, Radio's back? What bos this
- 23:21gun out on me? They all put their guns out on me and tell
- 23:23me not to move Son, and I'm like, yo, what is going
- 23:26on? And they're like, we have you on the most wanted escape e
- 23:30list? Yo. I'm I'm like, bro, listen, listen to this.
- 23:38Bro. I'm Italian Son. I got a purple silk shirt on with
- 23:42the tie, the slacks, I got these fake alligator shoes on, and
- 23:45I'm talking to him. I'm talking to them like I would talk to you
- 23:49less, like like one of the boys. Right. I'm like, Yo,
- 23:52my man's listen to me. Bro. You think I escape from jail,
- 23:56got fresh and then came back for court like I just went to Cane,
- 23:59Like what did your problem? Bro? They still got their guns on
- 24:02me in everything. But then they call the supervisor, and the supervisor comes
- 24:06and says like, Yo, there's there's a there's one courtroom under the jail
- 24:11under thirty third and it's for parole and probation hearings. It's not for people
- 24:15that are freeze, for inmates that are going through the transition process. And
- 24:18they said, if he's on that docket put him in there, and sure
- 24:22enough, I was on that docket. So they put me in this room.
- 24:25Son. Everybody's got County blues on, bro the jumpsuits, and I'm
- 24:29in there with my purple stike shirred on and we all shackled together. You're
- 24:33not even in the courtroom. They keep you separated from the courtroom and when
- 24:37they call your name, you go on this phone booth. You put on
- 24:38the headphones with a little microphone. And when it was my turn, I
- 24:42get in there and the judge goes the case has been dismissed. I never
- 24:45want to see you again. And mind you this, I'm deaf, son,
- 24:52I can't hear. So I'm in the phone booth like wait what and
- 24:55he's like on to the now. I'm like wait, wait, so hold
- 24:56on, hold on, what did you say? The guard was like,
- 25:00bro, get out of here, like it's over. And the whole time
- 25:03I'm in that room, all the inmates was like, yo, this dude's
- 25:07in the mafia, like it's Italian dude. Who I'm like like, nah,
- 25:11Son, Like it didn't even like that, And so I started kind
- 25:15of like preaching to that and I'm like, yo, God, real quick.
- 25:18That does gotta look crazy. It was in there and wearing the jail
- 25:22house fit. You come in there dressed like Barney the Pimp and you just
- 25:27getting your case to Smiths and slide. Bro, that has to be from
- 25:32their point of view. They're probably telling that story like it's something like it
- 25:34probably sounds crazier to the people they tell it too, than you telling it
- 25:38to us right now, bru, I swear they thought I was John Garden's
- 25:42son, like I was one of the guardies, Like that's what everybody was
- 25:45saying. That's what everybody thought. And but nah, I started preaching and
- 25:49I'm like, yo, listen, like it's God. I'm not in the
- 25:52mob. I didn't have no I didn't tell them about my grandfather. I
- 25:55didn't say none of that. I was just keeping it a stack, like
- 25:56yo, I changed my life. God honored it, and he's getting me
- 26:00off for all this, and he could do the same for you. Bro.
- 26:03The Guarden was like he got he broke, he broke like character.
- 26:08If you don't go right now, I'm gonna change you. I'm gonna change
- 26:14you right now if you don't leave right now. And I'm like, all
- 26:17right, bet and then I left. And then so just one more little
- 26:19part. I'm still on probation. I still had a year left on probation,
- 26:25and I called my lawyer and my lawyer and shook. She's like,
- 26:27bro, the state attorney's telling me they're throwing the book at you. I'm
- 26:32telling you you're gonna do at least a year in jail and then go to
- 26:33prison for fifteen years. All like they didn't tell me they was gonna dismiss
- 26:37the case. And I'm like, I'm free, and she says it's this
- 26:41thing called ex post factor where they can't take it back if there's a mistake
- 26:45or anything. They can't Once that judge says, boom is over with and
- 26:48they can't go back. So she says, go straight to probation and check
- 26:52in with your probation office officer right now. And so I went straight to
- 26:56probation. And when he seen me, he was sure. He goes,
- 27:00what are you doing here? And I was like, here would go again?
- 27:03So he calls me in the back to his office and he types in
- 27:07the tuter and he turns the computer around and it says Jonathan Ptolo status incarcerated
- 27:14on everything. I love so and even in the probate computer it said my
- 27:17status was incarcerated and I have been free this whole time. And so this
- 27:21man goes, all right, I told him the whole story. He's like,
- 27:23all right, stay out of trouble. I'll see you next month.
- 27:26And then I did my year of probation and I've never been arrested. I've
- 27:29never seen the cops since. And I was been ten going on eleven years.
- 27:32Bro, Bro, that is so you see why I've been able to
- 27:38stay Yeah, now not go ahead, go ahead, finish the statement.
- 27:44I was just gonna say, you see why I've been able to stay on
- 27:47this path. And like, I have my moments where I slipped up.
- 27:48Man, I'm not perfect, especially after the divorce. I just recently got
- 27:52divorced. You know, I've been drinking a lot more than I normally do.
- 27:56So I've had some times where I did stuff I shouldn't have been doing
- 27:57it. But for years straight before the divorce, I was on that straight
- 28:03and narrow sun, like know nothing. You know, I quit smoking trees,
- 28:06I quit doing drugs. I quldn't, I couldn't getting drunk. I
- 28:08would still drink, but I quit getting drunk, and but you see why,
- 28:12Like I had such a profound impact on my life. I was like
- 28:15I can't even play with that life no more. Yeah, man, So
- 28:22that's that's that's how it happened right there. Man, Sorry to make it
- 28:26long, but it's a lot too it. Nah, we needed all that.
- 28:29That's yeah, that's a crazy story, man. Yeah. Man,
- 28:33so you know that that's how it happened. Man. That was two thirteen
- 28:38January six, twenty thirteen. I still remember everything about it to this day.
- 28:42Man. Hey man, that's hard to forget. Bro. That's something
- 28:45that you can't even That's like, that's the thing that you wish would happen
- 28:49in a situation in your life, like when you're just thinking about it,
- 28:52like to yourself, and it's like the solution you would wish for that you
- 28:56know is never gonna happen. But in case some how it did happen.
- 29:00Facts. Yeah, But like I feel like I was so far gone that
- 29:07if something extreme didn't happen like that, I wouldn't be here talking to you,
- 29:10man. That's real spoke m Well, everything happens when it happened,
- 29:18and for a reason, you feel me. So it went from the worst
- 29:22thing that ever happened to me to the best thing that ever happened to me.
- 29:26Yeah, yeah, just like that. It's crazy. I'm gonna throw
- 29:32I'm gonna throw it to Quincy and Joe just because you know, I know
- 29:34a lot of the stuff as far as how your story goes and everything.
- 29:38But if y'all got anything y'all want to like kind of elaborate on or any
- 29:42any kind of reactions you have anything, He said, who was any of
- 29:48that stuff that happened You kind of tapped into the reason why you do And
- 29:52like the show, the podcast you're doing right now, when't anything during that
- 29:56spark This nah, not not the podcast, the radio show on podcast was
- 30:04kind of just given to me because the owners scene that I was everywhere she
- 30:10seen me on because I hold boxing events too, So she seen me at
- 30:14like rap battles, She seen me hosts boxing events. You see me at
- 30:17Christian shows, she seen me at non Christian shows, and she just thought
- 30:19I'd be a good fit for it. But I do do community work,
- 30:23and that definitely inspired the community work because like I go into the youth prison
- 30:29here in O'callorda, and I meant to the youth in this Level ten facility
- 30:32here in o'callora. So that definitely inspired that. But as far as the
- 30:36radio show goes now that I kind of just got thrown into that that was
- 30:40actually going to be my person to tell the story facts facts. That's that
- 30:44was actually gonna be my next question U and regard because I know during ire
- 30:49or my interview with you on here to the grind, uh, you kind
- 30:52of mentioned that the youth, the what you do to give back to the
- 30:56community and the youth. Could you kind of elaborate on that because I definitely
- 31:00think that with the story that you just told, man, you know,
- 31:03you gotta share that as with many as many people as possible. Yeah,
- 31:10Man, I had got asked by one of my bros man many faces who
- 31:18had did it before. The organization is called Urban Youth Justice, and they're
- 31:22going to juvenile facilities all over the world, but mainly in Florida. It's
- 31:27based out of Tampa, and I would ask to go just do some songs
- 31:32one time and I did a song, but I just felt led to like
- 31:37tell my story and it had an impact and the owner of the organization was
- 31:41like, Yo, you want to get down on this. There's actually a
- 31:44facility in O'calla because that's where I lived. Now. He was like,
- 31:48and you could be the one. You have your own team and everything and
- 31:51do it there. So but I I'm gonna keep it a stack. Bro.
- 31:55These kids these days is crazy. But I remember when I was a
- 31:59kid. You know, I'm on the forty years old now or back in
- 32:01the nineties. We was wild and we was crazy. But it's a whole
- 32:05other level these days. And like when I first started going in there,
- 32:08they're like, oh, this old white dude, like I didn't get no
- 32:12respect, but they're just showing them consistency being a male role model and influence
- 32:19in the life that was consistent. And I always kept with a stack,
- 32:22like y'all know my alias is mister Real Spill. I didn't go in there
- 32:25like, oh who who. I went in there like, yo, this
- 32:29is what I've been through, my little brothers. The og crypt that's in
- 32:31the fence right now. I just got out of the fens, been out
- 32:34the fence for a year, and I was back in the fens, got
- 32:37stabbed in prison by his own gang, and I was a quadriplegic. I
- 32:40go in there and I tell them from experience. I don't go in there
- 32:43and tell them from a place that like I've seen a movie or I just
- 32:46want to help. I'm like this Christian guy like you know, Ned Flanders,
- 32:50Like nah, I'm going in there, like, look, man,
- 32:52I didn't live that life. My little brother is seriously about that life and
- 32:55this is this is what happens, you know. And the funny part is
- 33:00my hood side ato like keep it real, will be like Yo, I
- 33:04could tell y'all some things where you could navigate the system, but then I'm
- 33:07like, I'd rather just tell you just stay out that life, you feel
- 33:10me because it's just hard. But but now now I'm going there and it's
- 33:15like yo's lot right, Like it's like I'm a big brother to them.
- 33:16Man, Like when they get out, they hit me up, I'll shoot
- 33:20them some bread, get them some new shoes, get them a hair cut.
- 33:22And there's a lot of them make music. I try to set them
- 33:24up in studios and it's just dope, like the fact that they hit me
- 33:29up when they get out, because when you're when you're locked up, you
- 33:30just want to pass time on a lot of things. So I don't I
- 33:36don't take it personally or think it's dope when they come to my mentor meetings,
- 33:39But when they hit me up when they get out, it's the real
- 33:42love. That's when I'm like, all right, bet, I had an
- 33:44impact on this kid, and I still got all all the numbers on my
- 33:46phone. I'll be reaching out on the holidays. How's your mom? How
- 33:50you do? How's your brother? You know what I'm saying, And it's
- 33:52just it's dope. Bro. Every time I leave there, I'm like renewed,
- 33:58you know what I'm saying. I just it's just a great It's just
- 34:00a great feeling, man, you know. So yeah, that's something me
- 34:04and Quincy talk about pretty often, just from the point of view of not
- 34:07having anybody really to look up to or get guidance from when you come from
- 34:12those situations, you know, because you was around Wentworth. If you know
- 34:15the kind of stuff that went down and that kind of environment, bro,
- 34:20it just leads to more bullshit. Like that's just how it is. It's
- 34:22a cycle, and there's a lot of people in there. Like I think
- 34:27about it now, and me and Quincy have talked about it before. Bro.
- 34:30There's there was men in Wentworth, the aids that I am now that
- 34:35was hanging around us, trying to give us quote unquote game about gangs or
- 34:39street life and stuff like that. Like, bro, you're grown man with
- 34:43bills. What are you doing out here? You know what I'm saying.
- 34:45Like it was just a crazy thing. But we never thought about it that
- 34:49way. We looked at them like, oh, they the older dudes.
- 34:52He's an og, you know what I'm saying. We thought he came with
- 34:53some wisdom just because he's older and he's around. But nah, bro,
- 34:57Like, sometimes you have people around you that just leads you down the wrong
- 35:00path. Sometimes the people around you just don't have the answers. And it
- 35:05happened to me my OG in my neighborhood, my big brother. They they
- 35:09stayed me down those wrong paths, you know. And I feel like you'd
- 35:14have to be a real hater. You'd have to be a real jerk off
- 35:16to go down a path and have a real negative ending and not see somebody,
- 35:21a young dude, going down that path, and I at least tell
- 35:23them that what's real about it and try to stay them away from that,
- 35:28you know what I mean. I don't want no kid to go through what
- 35:30I went through, man, on every level. You feel me. And
- 35:32I even be telling them these days, like, Bro, drugs is crazy.
- 35:36Someone I did drugs. They were still natural in a sense, like
- 35:39these days, all this synthetic stuff and all this is crazy, and I'm
- 35:43like, you better off just not even doing it, bro, And I
- 35:45keep it a stack, Like if you want to have a five girl,
- 35:47you want to have nice things, you want to have a future, then
- 35:52drugs, you know what I'm saying, even just getting started. The cool
- 35:55the cool kids that do it when they're young, look at them now,
- 35:59they probably crackheads. They probably did, they probably imprisoned you're feeling. But
- 36:04the cast that just you know, maybe did their little thing but then get
- 36:07too much into it or just stayed away from it, those are the real
- 36:09stand up dudes. Those are the dudes that you would look up to these
- 36:13days, you know. So it's just the type of stuff I'll be trying
- 36:15to tell them, man, because I feel like nowadays there's not too many
- 36:20positive influences out there that can come from a place of experience. And keep
- 36:22it a stack with these kids, man. And if it was your kids,
- 36:27if it was kids, I don't know, I'm gonna be the same
- 36:29way. Bro. I just gotta love for the youth. Man. So,
- 36:32man, look, I feel I feel like nowadays just being peace and
- 36:37still is like out of style, you know what I mean. Like nobody
- 36:42wants to be like in a situation where they're just happy about what's going on.
- 36:46Everything is kind of even. There's no crazy stuff, you know,
- 36:51there's nothing kind of you know, in their ear from every angle. It's
- 36:53just kind of like people want to kind of be in that chaos. They
- 36:58want to be in the middle of the gossip. They you know, they
- 37:00want people commenting on their life and everything. And obviously, you know,
- 37:02the social media is a part of that. Everybody feel like they did main
- 37:06character reality show, you know what I mean, And it's definitely something that
- 37:10people need guide and so man, yeah, man, it's like you're not
- 37:16gonna really get it if you don't have a father figure or an older brother
- 37:21that's you know, on a on a good path, on a good place
- 37:23in life. You're not gonna get it from the movies of the music.
- 37:25But I tell them though, like I love gangster movies just maybe because my
- 37:30family and all that, But I tell them, every single gangster movie every
- 37:35single street movie is the realist movies to watch because what happens at the beginning
- 37:40of the movie is dope, it's the best time to come up. But
- 37:44what happens every single ending of every single hood against the movie. It's never
- 37:49a positive ending. It's never a happy ending. This dude stitches on this
- 37:52dude, This dude kills that guy. This guy goes to prison and rats
- 37:54on everybody. You know what I'm saying. It's like it's never facts come
- 38:00up and always the best time, but it's always the shortest. The struggle
- 38:02is always the longest, the most part, you feel me, and it's
- 38:07never like that. I know it's cliche, but like they say, there's
- 38:08there's no happy endings for gangsters. Man. That's facts, man, you
- 38:16know, but that's and it's like, I ain't nobody, man, I'm
- 38:21just somebody that would love to If I could change one kid's life to not
- 38:25go through what I went through, then it'll be all worth it to me,
- 38:29you know what I'm saying. But at the end of the day,
- 38:30if you had and it followed me around with a camera a day. Look,
- 38:34I'm not the best role model son, you know, but I tried,
- 38:36you know, I tried, you feel me? So, yeah,
- 38:40man, I kind of wanted to touch a little on what you were saying
- 38:44as far as like having that role model, and you kind of touch on
- 38:46even like I know you're a Tupac fan. We all Tupac fans. Just
- 38:51that lyric and Dear Mama where he's kind of talking about that. You know,
- 38:54for a woman, it ain't easy to raise a man. And I
- 38:57wanted to kind of start with you, Joe, because you kind of had
- 39:00like a weird not weird, but like a unique dynamic in your childhood where
- 39:05like your dad was there and then there was a time that he wasn't there,
- 39:08and just kind of explain it, like how did that feel, just
- 39:12as far as you having somebody as a male in your life, Like what
- 39:15was the differences that you felt? Yeah. Actually, I spent a majority
- 39:22of like my first few years with my dad and then when we went to
- 39:28meet up with my mom, and I don't fully remember this, but they
- 39:30tell me the stories like because I spent so much time with him, like
- 39:35I didn't want to listen to her. I didn't I wasn't like I didn't
- 39:37want to be there. I'm like, nah, you're not my dad,
- 39:38like and then but that got me used to like knowing that there's times where
- 39:45like we weren't gonna all be together all the time. So like he was.
- 39:52Then he would started traveling for work, and he began like when the
- 39:54hurricanes came using a hurricane restoration like all over the U asked he was He's
- 39:59a big part like New Orleans restoration. He was gone for a long time.
- 40:02Uh. That put me in a position like hold, like feeling like
- 40:07I got to hold it down for the family being the only guy there,
- 40:09you know, and just be like a male presence in the family when he's
- 40:14not there. So it kind of showing me like it's not always gonna be
- 40:16there, and if it's not there, you gotta step up and be that
- 40:19person. I think that kind of grew on me to say, you know,
- 40:22if the leaderships aren't there, I'm gonna step up and be the leader
- 40:25whenever I got it in all aspects. No, that's facts, man,
- 40:31what'd you think about that? Quincy? I know you gotta obviously you know
- 40:37your dad was never there, not because of him, you know what I'm
- 40:39saying. He was taken from us very you know, before you was even
- 40:43able to really you know, even have an experience with him. So just
- 40:46you know, that lack of having your dad there and just growing up with
- 40:51a step dad originally, like how you know obviously that affected you, but
- 40:53how does that kind of resonate with you? From me? I mean,
- 40:59it definitely is. I can I say it. It's tough because you know,
- 41:05I had to learn how to be a man or teach myself how to
- 41:07be a man myself, like like I have to YouTube how to tie a
- 41:12tie, you know what I'm saying, Like you know what I mean.
- 41:14So it's like it's tough when you think about it from that perspective because you
- 41:17know, I did have a father figure very temporarily, you know, but
- 41:23he was abusive at that time. So when you know I saw it,
- 41:28I always was like I don't want to be nothing like him, you know
- 41:30what I mean. So any kind of fatherly advice or fatherly things that I
- 41:34saw from him, I didn't really want to take that in boss. So
- 41:39you know, basically for me, it's like I had to really like learn
- 41:43how to be a man on my own and teach myself, you know what
- 41:45I'm saying. So and I'm still learning to this day. You know what
- 41:47I mean. Like I still feel like I look to older men that I've
- 41:52met and other I would call brothers. You know what I'm saying, Like
- 41:55you guys, you know what I'm saying, and learn through y'all experiences of
- 42:00how to be a better man every day. You know what I'm saying.
- 42:01But it's different. It's tough. A woman can't teach that man facts.
- 42:06Man, how about you? How about you, Delorie? How does that?
- 42:08How has that dynamic been in your life? And see it's it's crazy.
- 42:15How like with the radio show stuff I just went through. It was
- 42:17just talking about gets brought up on the shows and it's no difference with this
- 42:22right here. So I just had my man's at my crib working with me.
- 42:25He's going through it, right, And same kind of thing where I
- 42:30was like, Yo, come come to my crib. I got a guest
- 42:31room. Now you know I don't. I don't got a family here no
- 42:34more, so you could work with me, get back on your feet.
- 42:37But he never had his father in his life, right, And we had
- 42:42got a little bit the other night, you know what I'm saying, and
- 42:45smoking some cigars and talking about life. And he was like, yeah,
- 42:47you know, if I had my dad and this and that. And he's
- 42:52like, you can't understand because you always had your pops. And I said,
- 42:54now hold on, man, just because people have their father in their
- 42:58life doesn't mean that it was like some family matters mark, you know,
- 43:01mister Winslow. Father figured. My dad is a great man, and I
- 43:06don't want to take nothing away from him. But my dad was a firefighter.
- 43:09Firefighters worth twenty four hours shifts and then they get forty eight hours off.
- 43:15My dad would be gone all day long every other day or every other
- 43:19two days, and then when he was home, he was sleeping for like
- 43:22that whole first day and then his second day off he would run the painting
- 43:24business that I run. Now you know what I'm saying. But and my
- 43:29dad was like this ill tempered old school Italian dude where I had no relationship
- 43:34with my father because if I the littlest bit of coming out my mouth,
- 43:37for the littlest bit of what he thought was disrespect, my pops would throw
- 43:42hands son, like he would kick in my door and cast me with three
- 43:45pieces in my face, like bust my nose wide over and then stand over
- 43:50me and be like come on, and my father's huge, bro, and
- 43:52I'm like nah son. And then and then the next day I seen him
- 43:57and he said like, you know, hey dad, you know thinking it's
- 43:59cool, and my dad would say something to like, excuse my friends,
- 44:01but this is real, be like it's a good thing you didn't fight me
- 44:05back, and I'd be like what he because I would have put you in
- 44:07the hospital. And I'm saying, oh, that's my dad. Like,
- 44:12but it was like that we had no relationship. It was like it was
- 44:15like a tyrant, you know, the illust respect. He was never really
- 44:17around because of his job. But then now, just to keep it real,
- 44:22spilled my pops is my best friend. You're now he's seventy five years
- 44:27old, he's an old man, and we mended that. Bro. We
- 44:29used to fight, bro, like we used to fight to it. The
- 44:31whole family will start fighting because me and my pops are going at it.
- 44:35And then I'd always get kicked out. I would always be like the outcast,
- 44:38the black sheep. But then there came a time in my life where
- 44:40I was like, I'm gonna forgive this man. I'm not gonna use it.
- 44:44As an excuse to act a certain way because he acted a certain way
- 44:47towards me, And I'm gonna try to mend this relationship. But it was
- 44:51something I really worked hard on and really prayed about, and it changed,
- 44:54bro, and now we are best friends, and now my whole family gets
- 44:58along grade And so you know, just because I always have my dad doesn't
- 45:01mean it was, like I said, like some family matter stuff where it
- 45:05was like perfect And I learned all that. He taught me how to paint,
- 45:08and he taught me how to throw a football. But I didn't get
- 45:10no sex talk. I didn't get no drug talk. I didn't get no
- 45:14jail talks. I didn't get none of those talks from my pops. And
- 45:16I had to learn all that from the streets and learn all that the hard
- 45:20works. So yeah, that's the one I'm saying talk about a lot on
- 45:22the podcast, just from the point of view of everybody got their struggling.
- 45:25You don't know anybody's going through from the outside looking in. Somebody might look
- 45:29at you and say, oh, white dude, both parents, he's good,
- 45:31he's chilling. It ain't always the case, you know what I'm saying.
- 45:35So you know, it's really important, like you said, even just
- 45:38taking the time with people because of that same detail, Like we don't know
- 45:44exactly where everybody'd been through, what they're going through, the things they lacked.
- 45:46You know, there's so many different, you know, factors in people's
- 45:52lives that make them the way that they are, and you always got to
- 45:54extend that grace no matter what tracks. Bro like, Oh, you show
- 46:00respect first until you disrespect me, until you come with disrespect. I'm always
- 46:05gonna come with respect and the best understanding I can. You're not always gonna
- 46:08relate, You're not always gonna understand, but you could try, and you
- 46:12could not be a jerk, and you could be patient, you feel me
- 46:15until until it's not until it's not reciprocated. I don't I don't want nobody
- 46:20that would be a pushover. And I'm damn sure not a pushover. But
- 46:22I'm gonna at least trying to come with that understanding and respect first I get
- 46:27proven otherwise, right right. I actually wanted to run through this Billboard Top
- 46:34ten game and then kind of go into what you got going on with your
- 46:37radio show. Some dope news coming up fifty minute, Mark Man, it's
- 46:45been a super dope episode so far that bro, I knew what you came
- 46:49on and told that story bro that it was gonna be like what the hell
- 46:52because it's crazy, man, and just what you were able to go through
- 46:57and recognize the fact that, hey, I've been on some bullshit. I
- 47:01need to make a change and to be blessed and to be able to keep
- 47:06it up and recognize it and still how do you say, appreciate it?
- 47:09You know? Ten years later? That's the thing, man. A lot
- 47:12of these people that be going through stuff, they be having that that you
- 47:15know, olive branch thrown out to them, but they just don't recognize it,
- 47:21you know what I mean. There's plenty of situations where somebody's giving you
- 47:24a hand, giving you hope, trying to help you come out of whatever
- 47:29hole you're in. And sometimes we might be too stubborn or we might be
- 47:31too you know, hazy to realize what's going on. But you know,
- 47:36you always got to take those good opportunities and rise to them as well,
- 47:39you know what I'm saying, Because you can't just say, hey, I
- 47:43need a handout, but then you're not doing the work on yourself, you
- 47:45know, And That's what I always respected about you and your story because you're
- 47:50somebody that recognize what was going on, and you do the work and you're
- 47:52active in the community to show like, hey, like you said, I'm
- 47:57here to make sure this don't happen no more because I was blessed with these
- 48:00with it, this opportunity. Yeah, and just real quick, man,
- 48:04you can't use things that happened to you as an excuse to wild out facts.
- 48:08I just went through this divorce, and it was a time right after
- 48:12the divorce, but I was like, I'm a while out and it was
- 48:15a struggle. So it was a real struggle for me to stay on the
- 48:19path I'm on, and honestly, I'm still kind of struggling with it and
- 48:22it's been eight months. But at the same time, I'm nowhere i used
- 48:25to be either, you know, because I've been trying not to use it
- 48:29as an excuse. Bro exactly. That's facts. Man. I went through
- 48:31something four years ago and I took the same approach and it turned out horribly.
- 48:37But I've used his last four years to recover and really go back to
- 48:40the person I'm supposed to be in. If anything like that ever happens again.
- 48:45I know how to react better, that's for sure. Thanks. Thanks,
- 48:50But yeah, man, we about to get into this billboard top ten.
- 48:52Man. We are going in two the week of February twenty six,
- 48:58two thousand and five. Sol I'm gonna see how we do this. I'm
- 49:06gonna I have three songs that I picked out of this top ten that I'm
- 49:09gonna give y'all. I'm gonna give y'all the clue. Everybody's gonna get a
- 49:15turn. So everybody's gonna get a question. Y'all could try to give me
- 49:17the artist and the title of the song. All right. If you can't
- 49:22get it and you pass it, the next person gets a chance to get
- 49:25it, and they'll get that point, and whoever has the most points at
- 49:29the end wins. All right, all right, so I'm gonna give the
- 49:32clues. Let me do this to figure out. Okay, So the first
- 49:39question is one of the numbers on the chart, obviously, right one through
- 49:44ten. So you guys, all guests a number. Whoever's closest to that
- 49:49number is the one that's gonna go first. So whenever you're already, go
- 49:53ahead, tell me a number three, six, all right, I said
- 50:01six. He said, all right, so what's it called? Joe?
- 50:07And the lore was the closest y'all called out the same number. So now,
- 50:12since you went first, Delrii, I'm gonna give you first. You're
- 50:15gonna tell me a number one or two, and whichever one's closest to it,
- 50:20that's the person that's gonna go first. So pick one or two,
- 50:22De Lori one, pick one or two. Joe, Oh, obviously never
- 50:28mind, he got y'all see me puffing earlier, my bay, the lore.
- 50:36You're going first because it's the number one song, all right. So
- 50:39I'm just gonna give you these clues, and in the wording of the clues,
- 50:44you're gonna get the you know, the hint for the song title.
- 50:49So make sure you're paying attention. So this is the number one song February
- 50:54twenty six, two thousand and five. The song is from a maturing R
- 51:00and B singer that returned to the scene with a grown and sexy vibe to
- 51:06climb the charts with this plea for love. So this maturing R and B
- 51:13singer with a growing all right, go ahead, I read this lady incorrect,
- 51:21my friend, Yo, you had me nervous. That was a good
- 51:25one. That was a good one. Next one, Joe, you go
- 51:29ahead and guess this. Maturing R and B singer returned with a grown and
- 51:34sexy vibe to climb the charts with this Plea for Love two thousand and five,
- 51:49Plea for love maturing growing is it? I sir? No, sir,
- 52:00Quincy, I gotta get this. I don't know one more time for
- 52:07the culture. All right, it's in the words, it's in the words.
- 52:12You're ready this maturing R and B singer returned with a grown and sexy
- 52:16vibe to climb the this please for love. Damn, I don't know bron
- 52:29for the song or the artist. Uh Ronald Eisley. No, I'm gonna
- 52:36give you one more go Delori and then I'm gonna tell it what you think
- 52:40for love? Because that was like ninety nine. I was gonna say Teddy
- 52:47Riley, but there definitely wasn't two thousand five. Y'all are gonna be in
- 52:52this one, because y'all should have got this. One that was number one
- 52:55that week was Mario let Me Love You. That was his first comeback song
- 53:07after he did Just a Friend when he was a little kid. Down let
- 53:12Me Love You. That was another. I didn't realize that that actually reached
- 53:16number one on Billboard. Bro that was that was a big song. That
- 53:20was a big song. I think the maturing thought. I was thinking a
- 53:24little older than But I get why you said that. I get you said.
- 53:29Here's here's number two. It's going to Joe this this one man,
- 53:34come on all right. This song was number five on the charts this week
- 53:39February twenty six, two thousand and five. This epic collaboration was thought to
- 53:45be the first of many, but beef got in a way. Either way,
- 53:51This classic hit on top incorrect Damn Quincy wait, I'm gonna read the
- 54:02whole thing. Okay, okay. This epic collaboration was thought to be the
- 54:07first of many, but beef got in the way either way. This classic
- 54:12hits hit is instantly recognizable with its unique intro and melodic vibe. How we
- 54:22do there? You go ding ding ding? We came out before? Yeah,
- 54:30yeah, that was a good one though, Joe, So yes,
- 54:37sir, Now we going back to the lore for the last song. Oh
- 54:42did I ask you? I ask you already, Quincy or not yet?
- 54:45I didn't ask wrong? Right, So this. This one's going to Quincy
- 54:47then all right. So this was the number two song on the charts this
- 54:51week. With two hits on the charts this week, this rapper had a
- 54:57different approach on this stringy hit that blew up, Stringy, Stringy with two
- 55:09hits on the charts this week, This rapper had a different approach on this
- 55:15stringy hit that blew up. You can guess the rapper too to try to
- 55:22get a point at least, ding ding ding, So you got two points
- 55:29the lory if you can let me throw ahead. Oh my god, no,
- 55:45sir, the lawyer, you get a chance to get the get the
- 55:47song. I don't get the stringy point. But I'm gonna just say because
- 55:52the time period on p I MP, No, sir, it was candy
- 55:55shopping. That wasn't that was what I thought. But the streak, my
- 56:05god, I'm tired in the beat, Yes, sir, man, I'm
- 56:14run the top ten down real quick, just to let you know what time
- 56:16it was on This was February five. Yeah, Quincy got that finally got
- 56:23there? You go, all right? So number one that week, like
- 56:27we discussed Mario, let Me Love You. Number two, like we discussed
- 56:31Candy Shot, fifty cent Feature in Olivia, Number three, Boulevard A Broken
- 56:37Dreams, Green Day, number four one two Steps Sierra featuring Missy Elliott,
- 56:45Number five, How We Do Game feature and fifty cent Yo. When this
- 56:49song dropped, like even just the way it was produced, I was like,
- 56:52bro, what is this? It was crazy? When you said the
- 56:58clue was like, how the beat drop already? I was like, Yo,
- 57:01bro, thats how we do beat? It's crazy. I even missed
- 57:05this one. That's how this? Uh this? He was he was googling
- 57:15stuff. He was googling your number six was this going ferno? Fifty cents?
- 57:21Oh damn three on the charts that week? That's crazy? And number
- 57:25seven Lovers and Friends Little John and the East Side Boys featuring Usher, and
- 57:29I was about to say that had to be on the number eight Soldier Destiny's
- 57:35Child featuring t I Little Wayne, Number nine Since You've been Gone Kelly Clarkson,
- 57:39Number Rich Wants to Fund featuring ease Man. Hip hop used to really
- 57:46run the charts man, Yo, facts they're all over the charts. All
- 57:51the ones that we've read so far, there was only two joints that was
- 57:54in hip hop exactly. Bro, It's it's crazy, man, how far
- 57:59how far fallen? Man? But everything cycle dog and everything kind of like
- 58:02has the same kind of growth and death. And you know, when you
- 58:06really look at hip hop as far as like any other art form, it's
- 58:09pretty much in that stage where it's like it either turns into something completely different
- 58:14or it just dies dies. Yep, I'm looking at it right now.
- 58:17The current top ten for this week is not the only hip hop song,
- 58:22and it's not even really hip hop. Is slim you out drinking scissor other
- 58:27than that? Bro? Oh, I'm lying gonna gonna fuck you mean his
- 58:30number nine? Dang, he's still on the charts with that one. You've
- 58:36been holding some position. Yep. He had to comeback show the other day.
- 58:39Man. A lot of people had a lot of reactions to that,
- 58:42the whole you know, snitched thing and him just coming right back out like
- 58:45nothing happened. M Hey, man, the streets is the myth. The
- 58:51train don't stop moving, Yeah, man, ear to the ground radio,
- 58:55man, make sure y'all tap in. It's definitely some dope interviews, like
- 58:59you was saying, Man, you just got people that's on the grinding there,
- 59:02so do you be having different kinds of guests, But everybody makes sense.
- 59:06You know, I was on it, Quincy was on it. You've
- 59:08had different business owners on the artists and man October fourteenth, you got a
- 59:13big one dog Thurston Howl from Gilligan's Island Saturday from four six. That's crazy,
- 59:20man, Yeah, Otoba fourteenth from four to six. Low Life will
- 59:23be in the building Thurston Howard and it also be my man's mini faces Freemont
- 59:29People's will be in the building. Two heavy hit lyricists, New York lyricists.
- 59:34If you really like that, that golden error type of lyrics, this
- 59:38is gonna be that episode right here, man, and both these dudes too.
- 59:43Is proof that it's never You're never too old to get some shine.
- 59:45Man, You're never too old to do your thing. And that's also inspiring
- 59:50to me because Thurston was homing to a strong peak and it was always kind
- 59:54of in the background, and then now he's blowing up, you know what
- 59:59I'm and he's older than me, so that's just it's just it's gonna be
- 1:00:04dope for multiple reasons. But if you like that real raw, that New
- 1:00:07York raw that like it used to be This is that episode for you guys.

- 1:01:20You know what to do, Quincy. Yeah, definitely definitely appreciate you for

- 1:01:42interview I've ever had, So I definitely want to give that, give you
- 1:01:45that shout out on that man for real for us. So yeah, for
