- 0:04Speaker 1: FT Live on a Tuesday. Ron Kratz and AJ's in Milwaukee.
- 0:09Speaker 1: I mean, he's in the Tampa Bay area.
- 0:12Speaker 2: It just looks like Milwaukee at times. We'll get into that. Also,
- 0:16Speaker 2: you should be hosting today, AJ.
- 0:17Speaker 1: I heard there's something you're going to do at the
- 0:19Speaker 1: top that I didn't even get a rundown on.
- 0:23Speaker 3: Scott, you weren't here. That's why you didn't get the
- 0:27Speaker 3: information on this. So last night in the elevator, I
- 0:30Speaker 3: ran into a certain mascot. And they had a couple
- 0:34Speaker 3: messages for our host that's below you. And there's DJ Kitty.
- 0:39Speaker 3: And by the way, Gratz, I was told to tell
- 0:41Speaker 3: you that he is real. And that is DJ Kitty
- 0:45Speaker 3: and me in the elevator. And he also gave me
- 0:49Speaker 3: this note to pass on to the host that day
- 0:52Speaker 3: who said she was scared of DJ Kitty. And that's
- 0:56Speaker 3: Alana Rizzo. So I can't really see it because it's white.
- 0:59Speaker 3: And I'm sorry for messing up the white balance.
- 1:01Speaker 4: But it's a picture of a kitty. And it says, hi, Alana.
- 1:04Speaker 3: So Alana and Kratz have apparently pissed off DJ Kitty
- 1:09Speaker 3: because on October 8th, he was watching and he was
- 1:12Speaker 3: a little upset over their antics saying that DJ Kitty
- 1:14Speaker 3: was scary and not real.
- 1:16Speaker 4: So DJ Kitty, he wanted revenge.
- 1:19Speaker 1: And also you can see that picture on Alana Rizzo's
- 1:23Speaker 1: ex slash Twitter account.
- 1:24Speaker 2: If you want to see that whole thing.
- 1:27Speaker 4: And I just got a DM.
- 1:28Speaker 3: And I just got a DM from DJ Kitty that
- 1:30Speaker 3: says he has a, personalized autograph ball for me. So
- 1:33Speaker 3: tomorrow I'm going to show off my DJ Kitty autograph
- 1:36Speaker 3: ball to Kratz so he can know that he is real.
- 1:39Speaker 2: Did DJ Kitty really DM you during the World Series
- 1:41Speaker 2: just now?
- 1:42Speaker 5: Yes, he did.
- 1:43Speaker 4: Yes, he did. Yes, he did.
- 1:45Speaker 5: That's tremendous. That's tremendous.
- 1:47Speaker 6: And when he shows it, when he shows, when you
- 1:50Speaker 6: show us the signed ball, can we make sure we
- 1:52Speaker 6: pause to look at it? Wow.
- 1:55Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 2:01Speaker 1: That was actually a little taste of what goes on
- 2:04Speaker 1: every single day about 20 minutes before our show begins.
- 2:08Speaker 3: Hey, by the way, the postgame, if the Brewers do
- 2:11Speaker 3: this tonight, apparently I'm supposed to go on the field
- 2:14Speaker 3: with our cracked employee, Michael Beer.
- 2:17Speaker 4: And do interviews.
- 2:18Speaker 3: So does that mean you guys are going to have
- 2:20Speaker 3: to wait for me to do interviews on the postgame
- 2:22Speaker 3: show so I can just take my sweet time before
- 2:24Speaker 3: you run them?
- 2:25Speaker 4: We'll talk over you. Perfect.
- 2:27Speaker 1: Well, I think we'll do our thing and then we'll
- 2:30Speaker 1: mix those interviews in as they come through.
- 2:32Speaker 7: Right.
- 2:33Speaker 1: So like you'll do them and then we can run
- 2:35Speaker 1: them after the fact. So we're not just going to
- 2:37Speaker 1: wait for you. But that was also a great job
- 2:39Speaker 1: transitioning us again. Maybe AJ will host later this week.
- 2:42Speaker 1: Foul Territory postgame show live after game four of the
- 2:46Speaker 1: World Series.
- 2:47Speaker 2: It could be the last postgame show that we do.
- 2:50Speaker 1: For a very long time. So enjoy it while it lasts, people.
- 2:53Speaker 1: And let's get into. what happened in game three, and
- 2:56Speaker 1: then spin it forward to game four. Charge of the
- 3:01Speaker 1: Mound is powered by MLB Nine Innings Rivals 26. We'll
- 3:05Speaker 1: show you some cards as we're talking about the teams.
- 3:07Speaker 1: And we're going to talk a lot of Brewers because
- 3:09Speaker 1: they're up 3-0. They're one win away from their first
- 3:12Speaker 1: ever World Series title, AJ. And they basically did all
- 3:15Speaker 1: the work with two outs in the fifth.
- 3:19Speaker 4: Listen, the Brewers are the better team right now. Can
- 3:25Speaker 4: that switch? I don't know.
- 3:25Speaker 3: Ask the 04 Yankees. But the Brewers are a better team.
- 3:29Speaker 3: From 1 to 26, they're.
- 3:31Speaker 4: A better team. And the Rays were the best team
- 3:32Speaker 4: in the American League all year. Okay?
- 3:35Speaker 3: The Brewers are just better than they are. They don't
- 3:37Speaker 3: make mistakes on the bases. They don't make mistakes in
- 3:40Speaker 3: the field. They pitch unbelievably well. They don't strike out.
- 3:44Speaker 3: They go the other way. They hit singles. They hit doubles.
- 3:48Speaker 3: They have one home run in this World Series. It
- 3:51Speaker 3: was Sal Frelick's opposite field home run on left on left.
- 3:53Speaker 4: So.
- 3:54Speaker 3: They're doing everything right. I don't know how the Rays
- 3:57Speaker 3: win a game. I honestly don't know how the Rays
- 3:59Speaker 3: can win a game. I don't know who's pitching for
- 4:01Speaker 3: the Brewers. It's going to be probably Drohan or Patrick
- 4:04Speaker 3: against Drohan, and then you're going to see Ashby probably
- 4:06Speaker 3: for three. You're going to see McGill for two, or
- 4:09Speaker 3: Rebay probably for two. So if they get one or
- 4:11Speaker 3: two innings, I mean, they still have Romero. They still
- 4:12Speaker 3: have Deal Hall. They have all these guys lined up.
- 4:15Speaker 3: I don't know how the Rays do it, especially since
- 4:17Speaker 3: the Rays right now, they can't hit. Their big guys
- 4:20Speaker 3: are not hitting, and when you don't play Jonathan Aranda
- 4:23Speaker 3: in a must-win game. You don't play some of your
- 4:26Speaker 3: big guys in this game. I know you don't play
- 4:29Speaker 3: Liam Hicks because it's a lefty, but let me just
- 4:32Speaker 3: say this. You got to play your best players if
- 4:34Speaker 3: you want to win the game. I know you play
- 4:35Speaker 3: it like the regular season, but you got to make
- 4:37Speaker 3: some concessions in the World Series.
- 4:39Speaker 4: And right now, whatever the Rays are doing, ain't working.
- 4:44Speaker 6: I got some texts from Rays fans and even somebody
- 4:47Speaker 6: that works with the Rays, and they're like, oh, you
- 4:49Speaker 6: know what?
- 4:50Speaker 4: It's just the Brewers' year this year. I don't think so.
- 4:54Speaker 6: I don't think it's just, this isn't a case where
- 4:56Speaker 6: it's like, oh, looking down here and oh, look, oh,
- 4:59Speaker 6: they did this.
- 5:01Speaker 5: No, the Brewers are just better. The Brewers are a
- 5:04Speaker 5: better team.
- 5:05Speaker 6: I don't know how long we'd need to play for
- 5:07Speaker 6: the Rays to win four games. It's way more than
- 5:11Speaker 6: seven games, clearly, but they are a better team and
- 5:15Speaker 6: their approach has got The Rays pitching and Rays catching
- 5:21Speaker 6: game calling flummoxed right now because they can't do anything
- 5:24Speaker 6: against it.
- 5:26Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, they had 13 whiffs and 175 pitches seen.
- 5:30Speaker 1: So that's insane. That's a ridiculous number. The amount of pitches,
- 5:34Speaker 1: first of all, that they see, which is what they
- 5:36Speaker 1: do all year, but then the contact to it, because
- 5:38Speaker 1: sometimes they had some swing and miss. I mean, they
- 5:40Speaker 1: were a pretty high strikeout team, right, during the year?
- 5:42Speaker 1: We're not even seeing.
- 5:43Speaker 2: That from them.
- 5:43Speaker 5: No, middle of the road. Middle of the road. Okay, fine.
- 5:46Speaker 2: Middle of the road.
- 5:46Speaker 3: Maybe.
- 5:47Speaker 2: um, I will say this.
- 5:49Speaker 1: I know this part for a fact, there was more
- 5:50Speaker 1: swing and miss later in the season for them or
- 5:53Speaker 1: a little more to it, but you always watch this team. Like, Hey,
- 5:55Speaker 1: this team has contact hitters too. And we're seeing that
- 5:58Speaker 1: right now. The point I wanted to make off of Kratz,
- 6:01Speaker 1: AJ is that if you say, Oh, this is just
- 6:04Speaker 1: the brewer's year. That fin thinning is like, Oh, like
- 6:08Speaker 1: some ball dropped that shouldn't have dropped. And there's a
- 6:10Speaker 1: bunch of, you know, Little bleeder hits. Like, look at
- 6:13Speaker 1: the exit VLO numbers off the knocks for the guys
- 6:16Speaker 1: in that inning. Like, Garrett Mitchell, 106. Bryce Terang, 106.
- 6:21Speaker 1: There's a bunch of 90s. 95-plus is hard hit rate, right?
- 6:24Speaker 1: That's how hard hit rate gets measured. And this is
- 6:27Speaker 1: just about all 95-plus on the knocks. Jackson Churio, 103.
- 6:31Speaker 1: And then a bunch that are in the mid to
- 6:33Speaker 1: upper 90s. Like, these are solidly struck baseballs that deserve
- 6:37Speaker 1: to be hits in that fifth inning when nobody on
- 6:40Speaker 1: the Rays could get them out.
- 6:42Speaker 3: Look where they all went, too, most of them. I mean,
- 6:44Speaker 3: other than the Cooper Pratt kind of chopper down the
- 6:46Speaker 3: third baseline.
- 6:47Speaker 4: They all went the other way. It all was the
- 6:49Speaker 4: other way. It was the other way. It was left
- 6:51Speaker 4: on left down the left field line, right?
- 6:53Speaker 3: The Bryce Terang had almost killed Walls at shortstop the
- 6:58Speaker 3: other way.
- 6:59Speaker 4: These all were the other way. Churrio the other way.
- 7:01Speaker 4: It was the other way, the other way, the other way.
- 7:03Speaker 3: And that's what they preach. And then when they get
- 7:05Speaker 3: into it here, I mean, again, this spray chart shows
- 7:08Speaker 3: it off. Look at where all these balls are.
- 7:09Speaker 4: They're down the line. They're in the gap.
- 7:11Speaker 3: They're just not ground balls in the hole. Like a
- 7:15Speaker 3: lot of hard hit balls are ground balls in the hole.
- 7:16Speaker 3: These guys are line driving the ball the other way,
- 7:19Speaker 3: which is the way we were always taught hitting when
- 7:22Speaker 3: we came up. It wasn't lift and separate. I'm going
- 7:24Speaker 3: to get backspin. These guys are just getting hits and
- 7:27Speaker 3: they don't give away a bat. And you know what
- 7:29Speaker 3: the Brewers are doing to the Rays, which the Rays
- 7:32Speaker 3: have been able to do. And now they're seeing it
- 7:33Speaker 3: in person and they don't know how to stop it.
- 7:36Speaker 3: They're being out. Raid, basically. This is like we always
- 7:40Speaker 3: talk about the Rays. They play small ball.
- 7:41Speaker 4: They run.
- 7:42Speaker 3: They steal bases. They put pressure. Well, now the Rays
- 7:45Speaker 3: are having it shoved down their throat, and they don't
- 7:47Speaker 3: know how to cough it back up.
- 7:48Speaker 4: They don't know what to do.
- 7:50Speaker 8: You see it.
- 7:50Speaker 4: They're sped up. They admit it. Man, we're sped up.
- 7:52Speaker 4: We don't know what to do, guys. Well, you know what?
- 7:54Speaker 3: They're making mistakes on the bases. They're not playing good defense.
- 7:58Speaker 3: They're making mistakes on the mound because the Brewers are
- 8:00Speaker 3: doing what the Rays usually do, and the Rays aren't
- 8:03Speaker 3: used to having it happen to them, and it's happening
- 8:05Speaker 3: to them in front of their face in the World Series.
- 8:08Speaker 6: In that fifth inning, they made three outs, had 11
- 8:12Speaker 6: balls put in play.
- 8:14Speaker 5: Eight of those. What A.J.
- 8:15Speaker 6: Was saying, eight of those. Even their outs, they had
- 8:17Speaker 6: two fly ball outs to the opposite field. Eight of
- 8:21Speaker 6: them were hit to the opposite field, or I'm considering
- 8:24Speaker 6: Bryce Terang's to the opposite field because it was just
- 8:27Speaker 6: to the left of second. Like, even your outs are
- 8:31Speaker 6: going in the right direction, good things will happen. You'll
- 8:34Speaker 6: chase less. You'll make better pitch decisions. You may not
- 8:37Speaker 6: hit as many homers, but you see what happens.
- 8:42Speaker 2: Hi, Max the Bald Eagle from Marathon here. We asked
- 8:46Speaker 2: people if they could do an impression of me.
- 8:48Speaker 7: Have a listen.
- 9:00Speaker 1: You can save up to a dollar a gallon with
- 9:02Speaker 1: the Marathon Rewards app.
- 9:05Speaker 7: That last one was pretty good. Marathon, where fun runs
- 9:08Speaker 7: on full. Available at participating marathon locations. Terms and conditions apply.
- 9:11Speaker 7: See marathonrewards.com for details.
- 9:13Speaker 2: The series is over, okay?
- 9:16Speaker 1: The math for anyone unaware is always worth reminding you about.
- 9:21Speaker 1: We just were reminded of this math during the NLCS
- 9:23Speaker 1: when the Brewers swept the Dodgers. In a best-of-seven postseason series,
- 9:28Speaker 1: teams with a 3-0 lead have won the series 42
- 9:30Speaker 1: of 43 times, good for a 98% clip.
- 9:32Speaker 2: The only time this happened.
- 9:37Speaker 1: It was 2004 with the Red Sox, super famous, right?
- 9:41Speaker 1: 33 of these 43 scenarios have ended in sweeps, including
- 9:46Speaker 1: that NLCS that we just saw. The Brewers have lost
- 9:48Speaker 1: one game since September 23rd. They're just on a ridiculous run.
- 9:52Speaker 1: And the next part of the equation that I want
- 9:54Speaker 1: to bring up, AJ, is the fact that their best
- 9:57Speaker 1: starting pitcher in the playoffs is Robert Gasser. Jacob Mizorowski
- 10:01Speaker 1: has been fine, right? He's been pretty good. Robert Gasser
- 10:04Speaker 1: has been him.
- 10:06Speaker 3: Robert Gasser has been unbelievable. Sick shutty last night. Faced
- 10:10Speaker 3: the minimum, by the way. Let's not forget, they had
- 10:11Speaker 3: faced the minimum until the ninth inning when Big Wu
- 10:13Speaker 3: came in. And I'm sure he was a little bit
- 10:16Speaker 3: excited and a little bit off. But they faced the minimum.
- 10:18Speaker 3: and Robert Gasser was nails last night. He gave up
- 10:20Speaker 3: the leadoff hit to Yanni Diaz, which, by the way,
- 10:23Speaker 3: was 116 miles an hour, was an absolute piss missile,
- 10:26Speaker 3: and then after that, Chandler Simpson got thrown out stealing.
- 10:29Speaker 4: And then it just was nothing.
- 10:31Speaker 3: They had one walk, and then the double play ball,
- 10:34Speaker 3: and then that was it for Gasser, and Sensatella came in,
- 10:37Speaker 3: and then Big Wu came in, which was awesome. Ten-run lead,
- 10:40Speaker 3: got him an inning in the World Series.
- 10:42Speaker 4: Yeah, he gave up a run. Who cares? He got
- 10:44Speaker 4: the pitch. That was awesome.
- 10:45Speaker 3: So, I think this series is over. I think you
- 10:49Speaker 3: can put it in the books. But I think one
- 10:51Speaker 3: thing that would be cool, we were talking about this
- 10:52Speaker 3: last night, you know, they had Joe Maddon and James
- 10:55Speaker 3: Shields come out and throw out the first pitch. You
- 10:56Speaker 3: know who they need to get to come out and
- 10:57Speaker 3: throw the first pitch? Just to give a little doubt,
- 10:59Speaker 3: somebody from the 2004 Red Sox. And the only guy
- 11:02Speaker 3: that came to mind for me was Johnny Damon. He
- 11:04Speaker 3: played for the Rays, and he was on the 0-4 team. Like,
- 11:06Speaker 3: you need to get somebody out there to say, hey, guys,
- 11:09Speaker 3: maybe Manny Ramirez.
- 11:10Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 11:10Speaker 4: He played for the Rays for a little while too,
- 11:12Speaker 4: didn't he?
- 11:12Speaker 3: So bring out somebody like that to try to get,
- 11:15Speaker 3: the people to believe there's going to be a little
- 11:17Speaker 3: bit of hope because trust me it was a lot
- 11:20Speaker 3: of brewers fans there last night there's going to be
- 11:22Speaker 3: even more tonight it's going to be like american family
- 11:25Speaker 3: field south tonight.
- 11:27Speaker 1: I like that idea i like a little johnny damon
- 11:30Speaker 1: cameo right he i mean i know he's traveling frequently
- 11:34Speaker 1: but he is from orlando so it's a hop and
- 11:37Speaker 1: a skip across the causeway.
- 11:39Speaker 4: He was here last night i know he was here
- 11:40Speaker 4: oh he was.
- 11:41Speaker 1: There okay They should definitely give him a call. I mean, they,
- 11:45Speaker 1: they need some voodoo. Oh, for magic and who, but
- 11:49Speaker 1: Johnny Damon who had the grand slam in game seven
- 11:53Speaker 1: in 2004.
- 11:54Speaker 2: I mean, he's been there. Not many have, but.
- 11:58Speaker 1: Kratz, what do you, I mean, you've watched the Brewers
- 12:01Speaker 1: pitch all year too. And the bullpen in the post
- 12:03Speaker 1: season is grabbing most of the attention, which is actually
- 12:06Speaker 1: kind of crazy because most of the attention this season
- 12:08Speaker 1: was on miss rightfully. So what he was doing in
- 12:10Speaker 1: his first full season was incredible. And again, he's been good.
- 12:14Speaker 1: His job has been run prevention. But Robert Gasser has
- 12:18Speaker 1: been better. And he's doing it on the road. And
- 12:21Speaker 1: game three was the first time that the Brewers were
- 12:23Speaker 1: picking up outs from their starter in the sixth inning.
- 12:25Speaker 1: So I'm just stating a fact in terms of who's
- 12:28Speaker 1: getting the job done.
- 12:29Speaker 2: Again, Miz, great. Robert Gasser, him right now.
- 12:34Speaker 6: I mean, the fact that he had six innings, three Ks.
- 12:40Speaker 6: You think of the Miz, you're like.
- 12:41Speaker 2: Oh, no.
- 12:42Speaker 5: Why is everybody fouling the Miz off? Is there something wrong?
- 12:45Speaker 5: What's going on here?
- 12:47Speaker 6: Like, Gasser was just, he was just letting them put
- 12:51Speaker 6: the ball in play, attacking. And it was like, it
- 12:54Speaker 6: was one of those things where it was like, you'd
- 12:56Speaker 6: watch him and you go, oh yeah, well definitely getting,
- 13:01Speaker 6: definitely getting the pitches that you're wanting. You know, he's
- 13:04Speaker 6: hitting the corners. No, the one inning he went five pitches.
- 13:07Speaker 6: I think it was the second or third inning, he
- 13:09Speaker 6: threw five pitches. He was just saying, here's the ball,
- 13:13Speaker 6: hit it. And I think it's something that the other
- 13:16Speaker 6: guys in this rotation, or even in baseball, are like,
- 13:20Speaker 6: you know what, we're going to strike everybody out. And
- 13:22Speaker 6: Robert Gasser shows you don't need to be able to
- 13:24Speaker 6: do that. Or you don't need to have to do that.
- 13:27Speaker 1: Yeah, and then you've got the bullpen game, which in
- 13:30Speaker 1: some cases you'd be like, ah, bullpen game.
- 13:32Speaker 7: No, no.
- 13:33Speaker 1: Bullpen game for the best bullpen in baseball, especially football.
- 13:36Speaker 1: top to bottom this year in terms of how.
- 13:38Speaker 3: Many loaded arms they have loaded no ashby no aribe
- 13:42Speaker 3: no hall no mcgill yesterday they are no romero they
- 13:46Speaker 3: got dustin may they can give them multiple they are
- 13:48Speaker 3: absolutely loaded for bear or stingray today whatever you want
- 13:52Speaker 3: to call it ray whatever they are loaded for rays
- 13:55Speaker 3: today because they got everybody ready i mean literally they
- 13:58Speaker 3: need if they get two innings out of their starter
- 14:00Speaker 3: they're like okay the rebate give me two Ashby, give
- 14:04Speaker 3: me two. McGill, give me two.
- 14:05Speaker 4: JoJo Romero, get three outs.
- 14:06Speaker 5: D.L.
- 14:07Speaker 4: Hall, get three outs.
- 14:07Speaker 3: Again, they can get 10, 12 innings and not really
- 14:09Speaker 3: get into trouble without one of their A guys this postseason.
- 14:13Speaker 2: They can get two outs out of their opener, starter,
- 14:16Speaker 2: whatever you want to call it, even just what you
- 14:17Speaker 2: were talking about. Ashby, three. Uribe, two. That's already five. McGill, two.
- 14:21Speaker 1: That's already seven, right? And that's before even talking about
- 14:24Speaker 1: who's going to be early on in the game.
- 14:26Speaker 2: So they're in good shape.
- 14:27Speaker 6: We didn't get to talk about it much because it
- 14:29Speaker 6: was like 2-0, 10-0. What the heck just happened? But
- 14:32Speaker 6: when it's 2-0, you're looking at it and you're going,
- 14:36Speaker 6: oh no, how are the Rays going to be able
- 14:38Speaker 6: to come back just from two runs? So you see
- 14:41Speaker 6: the Brewers go early, it's going to be what you
- 14:43Speaker 6: guys were just saying. If the Brewers go up early,
- 14:47Speaker 6: it's what you guys were just saying right there. And
- 14:49Speaker 6: if you look at Drohan, I don't know if Drohan's
- 14:51Speaker 6: going to be the one starting or what he's going
- 14:53Speaker 6: to do. Like one time through the order, this guy's
- 14:56Speaker 6: pretty nasty he gets in a little bit of trouble
- 14:58Speaker 6: when he has a single bad inning here or there.
- 15:01Speaker 4: When are we gonna have to worry about that.
- 15:03Speaker 3: By the way when are we are we gonna even
- 15:05Speaker 3: mention the caminero play are we just gonna skip over that.
- 15:07Speaker 1: Yeah we're gonna do a whole segment on it we're
- 15:09Speaker 1: gonna do it later yeah this was glory this was
- 15:13Speaker 1: already stuff we knew yes and then we'll do a
- 15:16Speaker 1: whole race segment coming up since aj's there too and
- 15:19Speaker 1: we want to talk about the fan base, the lineup decisions,
- 15:22Speaker 1: all of that. But we'll do that in a different segment.
- 15:24Speaker 1: So let's put a lid on this one. And that
- 15:27Speaker 1: is Charge the Mount. It is powered by MLB Nine

- 15:47Speaker 1: get in on the action.
- 15:49Speaker 2: Jim Bowden joining us next.
- 15:52Speaker 9: Take a look at today's lineup. It does not get
- 15:56Speaker 9: any better than that. Harper, the shave of his life.
- 16:01Speaker 9: That's why they call him the face.
- 16:03Speaker 7: Of the franchise, folks.
- 16:09Speaker 9: From the first half to the last out, MLB nine
- 16:15Speaker 9: innings rivals always brings baseball to life.
- 16:31Speaker 1: Front office unfiltered, our resident GM Jim Bowden is here,
- 16:35Speaker 1: and he is at the World Series.
- 16:36Speaker 2: He's usually first to the park, so he'll be there soon. JB,
- 16:39Speaker 2: good to see you.
- 16:40Speaker 1: Take away from what you've seen in these first three games,
- 16:43Speaker 1: not just from you, but what are people saying? You
- 16:46Speaker 1: see everybody. What are people saying about this series and
- 16:48Speaker 1: this Brewers team?
- 16:49Speaker 10: I think we kind of expected it, right? We all
- 16:51Speaker 10: thought they were the best team in the world before
- 16:54Speaker 10: the playoffs started, and all they've done is just reinforce it.
- 16:57Speaker 10: It's been amazing. to watch this lineup just being so
- 17:01Speaker 10: relentless from one to nine. I mean, last night, everyone
- 17:03Speaker 10: but Jake Bowers had a hit. Everyone had a run
- 17:05Speaker 10: or an RBI. And your three best superstars, Jackson Churio
- 17:09Speaker 10: and William Contreras and Bryce Terang combined for 10 of
- 17:12Speaker 10: their 16 hits. On the first pitch strikes in this
- 17:16Speaker 10: whole series, they're 11 for 14 while the Rays are
- 17:19Speaker 10: 0 for 7.
- 17:21Speaker 7: It's just amazing.
- 17:22Speaker 10: And to be able to have a 10-0 lead and
- 17:24Speaker 10: Sal Frelick is diving for balls, risking An injury to
- 17:28Speaker 10: catch the ball in a 10-0 game. I mean, yeah,
- 17:31Speaker 10: they felt it. And the ballpark last night, you know,
- 17:33Speaker 10: it was 50-50 Brewers-Rays fans. The Brewers fans were louder
- 17:37Speaker 10: than the Rays fans from the very beginning. I was
- 17:39Speaker 10: amazed when the game was over. There was about 10,000
- 17:42Speaker 10: Brewer fans that just wouldn't go home and just hung
- 17:44Speaker 10: out behind their dugout. That was just a really cool moment.
- 17:47Speaker 10: I expected tonight when they clinch. I didn't expect it
- 17:50Speaker 10: last night. But, yeah, the Brewers fans are all over
- 17:53Speaker 10: the city. Walking up and down, they kept me up
- 17:56Speaker 10: till 4 in the morning with their partying on the streets.
- 17:58Speaker 10: So I'm happy for the fans. And look, this team
- 18:01Speaker 10: is as good as advertised. I mean, you look at Gasser,
- 18:04Speaker 10: who has been their best starting pitcher, right? Even though
- 18:07Speaker 10: he's their game three starter. Goes into Petco, beats the Padres,
- 18:11Speaker 10: gives up one run. Goes into Dodger Stadium, beats the Dodgers,
- 18:15Speaker 10: gives up one run. Comes into the Tampa Bay ballpark,
- 18:18Speaker 10: six innings, one hit, shot out baseball. Seven starts in
- 18:21Speaker 10: a row with one run or less in the starts.
- 18:24Speaker 10: and they get to save their entire bullpen for tonight
- 18:26Speaker 10: to finish the job. I mean, it's, I don't know,
- 18:28Speaker 10: as expected is the way I would rephrase it.
- 18:32Speaker 4: First of all, Jim, it was really nice to see
- 18:34Speaker 4: you last night at the game.
- 18:35Speaker 3: I think you were the only person I didn't see
- 18:36Speaker 3: at the game, so I appreciate you saying hi to me.
- 18:39Speaker 3: That was really, really, really nice of you. And then also,
- 18:43Speaker 3: you said it was 50-50. I don't know if it
- 18:45Speaker 3: was 50-50 Brewers fans, but I'll say this. There was
- 18:49Speaker 3: Louder Brewer fans than Tampa Bay from the beginning, from
- 18:52Speaker 3: the warmups, from before the game.
- 18:53Speaker 4: It was everybody.
- 18:54Speaker 3: I mean, how many times I heard let's go Brewer
- 18:56Speaker 3: chance breakout in Tropicana Field. It felt like I was
- 19:00Speaker 3: at a Brewer's home game and they traveled all the
- 19:03Speaker 3: way down to Tampa Bay to watch their team clinch tonight.
- 19:06Speaker 3: And they are the better team. There's no question here.
- 19:08Speaker 3: They are the better team. And I said it earlier.
- 19:11Speaker 3: They have done to the Rays what the Rays usually
- 19:13Speaker 3: do to other teams, their speed and aggressiveness. They have
- 19:15Speaker 3: put it in the Rays face and the Rays have
- 19:17Speaker 3: no answer.
- 19:19Speaker 5: Yeah, no doubt.
- 19:20Speaker 10: And look, the Rays have made defensive mistakes. Aranda's made
- 19:23Speaker 10: a couple. Simpson dropped one. Last night, Caminero's play was
- 19:27Speaker 10: the first base where William Contreras was running down the line.
- 19:29Speaker 10: He threw the second, even though he should have known
- 19:32Speaker 10: Yelich had a huge lead in his speed. That play
- 19:34Speaker 10: was the first. You've seen them twice in this series
- 19:38Speaker 10: make the third out at third base. Some base running mistakes. So,
- 19:41Speaker 10: you know, we've seen some flaws that we didn't see
- 19:44Speaker 10: that often. getting into the World Series for Tampa. But
- 19:47Speaker 10: you know to your point and I agree with it
- 19:49Speaker 10: I mean Milwaukee has a plus plus defender at every
- 19:53Speaker 10: position on the field and it shows up throughout the
- 19:56Speaker 10: game they're a good base running team Pat Murphy does
- 19:59Speaker 10: an amazing job managing this team and navigating through the
- 20:03Speaker 10: bullpen you know getting playing time for his guys I
- 20:07Speaker 10: mean he just does an incredible job so You know,
- 20:10Speaker 10: they're just better in every single facet of the game,
- 20:12Speaker 10: and that's what we're witnessing. And the other thing is,
- 20:15Speaker 10: as you guys know, I mean, this team is so humble, right?
- 20:18Speaker 10: I mean, this is just not your normal World Series team.
- 20:21Speaker 10: It's a very humble, all-business, relentless. They don't mind jumping
- 20:26Speaker 10: on the first pitch, but if you don't want to
- 20:28Speaker 10: throw us a strike on the first pitch, which they've
- 20:30Speaker 10: been crushing, it's okay. We'll work the count. They saw
- 20:33Speaker 10: 184 pitches in Game 2. Like, are you kidding me?
- 20:37Speaker 7: Like, it's just.
- 20:38Speaker 10: They're so fun to watch because it's just the way
- 20:41Speaker 10: the game is supposed to be played. That's how I
- 20:43Speaker 10: grew up. That was my expectation of the brand of baseball.
- 20:46Speaker 10: And who would have thought in 2026 we'd get it?
- 20:49Speaker 10: It's been fun to watch.
- 20:51Speaker 6: When you hear reports or see the numbers about international
- 20:54Speaker 6: and amateur scouting being two of the largest, I think
- 20:59Speaker 6: top five largest, scouting groups in baseball, do you feel
- 21:03Speaker 6: like they've taken advantage of that? Or do you feel
- 21:06Speaker 6: like that's something that the rest of the league has said,
- 21:09Speaker 6: I don't think it's that important.
- 21:11Speaker 10: Yeah, well, obviously what happened is when analytics came into
- 21:14Speaker 10: the game, there were a lot of Ivy League guys
- 21:16Speaker 10: that didn't spend the time playing the game or managing
- 21:19Speaker 10: the game or spent their life in the game. They
- 21:22Speaker 10: looked at the analytics and it started to work and
- 21:24Speaker 10: it started to be successful. And then they shied away with,
- 21:27Speaker 10: you know, why do we need scouts? Why do we
- 21:29Speaker 10: need the human element? Like it just not really understanding.
- 21:32Speaker 10: So they went away from it. Milwaukee and Tampa said, really?
- 21:36Speaker 10: Tampa's got 60 scouts. They employ more scouts than anybody.
- 21:40Speaker 5: Do they use analytics? Sure they do.
- 21:42Speaker 10: But they blend it with the human element. You know,
- 21:44Speaker 10: when I was at the NLCS in the Brewer-Dodger series
- 21:49Speaker 10: at the bar after the game, Tampa Bay had six
- 21:51Speaker 10: scouts there advancing.
- 21:53Speaker 5: Six.
- 21:54Speaker 10: Milwaukee Brewers are dominating the Midwest in amateur scouting. And
- 21:58Speaker 10: no one's doing anything about it because you know what?
- 22:00Speaker 10: We can just use the analytics. We can look at
- 22:02Speaker 10: the stats. We can look at and arm speed, and
- 22:05Speaker 10: we can make our decisions on a computer.
- 22:07Speaker 7: Yeah, no, you can't.
- 22:08Speaker 8: No, you can't.
- 22:09Speaker 10: And Milwaukee, because of this, is really set up. And
- 22:13Speaker 10: I'm not just talking about this major league team. I'm
- 22:15Speaker 10: talking about a farm system with Andrew Fisher, who next
- 22:18Speaker 10: year might hit 30 home runs as the everyday first baseman.
- 22:21Speaker 10: I'm talking about Jesus Made, who has a chance to
- 22:23Speaker 10: be a better player than Jackson Churrio. I'm talking about
- 22:26Speaker 10: Louis Peña, who's got a chance to be the next
- 22:27Speaker 10: Bryce Terang. Like, they are loaded in the system because
- 22:30Speaker 10: they're beating everybody in the scouting. And I think what's
- 22:34Speaker 10: amazing to me is how many executives went away from
- 22:38Speaker 10: scouting and just felt like they could do it with
- 22:40Speaker 10: analytics alone. You need all of it if you want
- 22:43Speaker 10: to win, and that's what Tampa Bay and Milwaukee does.
- 22:46Speaker 10: They do all of it.
- 22:48Speaker 5: Great call.
- 22:48Speaker 2: I mean, the international side we'll talk more about in
- 22:50Speaker 2: the offseason too.
- 22:51Speaker 4: Scott, hold on.
- 22:52Speaker 3: Scott, hold on before you go. I know I just
- 22:54Speaker 3: have one quick comment on this before Jim. You know
- 22:56Speaker 3: what ruined all this and what changed it all, Jim?
- 22:59Speaker 4: Moneyball. Because they said, we don't need scouts. We don't
- 23:02Speaker 4: need scouts. We can save money.
- 23:04Speaker 3: And now the two of the lesser payroll teams have
- 23:07Speaker 3: the most scouts and the most guys out watching players
- 23:10Speaker 3: because what they realized is, man, eyeballs on a player.
- 23:13Speaker 3: I can look at a spreadsheet and he can give
- 23:15Speaker 3: me numbers, but I can't see how he reacts when
- 23:16Speaker 3: he goes 0 for 4. I can't see how he
- 23:18Speaker 3: reacts when he makes an error. I can't see how
- 23:20Speaker 3: he reacts when he gives up a home run. I
- 23:22Speaker 3: can't see what kind of teammate he is. Those things matter,
- 23:25Speaker 3: and that's what the Brewers and the Rays, I feel like,
- 23:28Speaker 3: beat everybody else at is not only– the chemistry, but
- 23:32Speaker 3: the makeup of each and every one of their players.
- 23:34Speaker 3: Because if you don't have a certain makeup, I guarantee
- 23:36Speaker 3: you this, Pat Murphy's sending your ass out the door.
- 23:40Speaker 2: AJ, you nailed it.
- 23:41Speaker 10: And I'm glad you did it. I'd like to take
- 23:43Speaker 10: my iPhone out and hit that double red exclamation point
- 23:45Speaker 10: with comments like that, because obviously, you know, you, Eric, Scott,
- 23:49Speaker 10: all you guys know, and you get it. And it's
- 23:51Speaker 10: not just that, but how about the conversations, right? Like
- 23:54Speaker 10: Eric Neander brings in John Daniels, who was the president
- 23:57Speaker 10: and GM of the Rangers for years. He brings in
- 23:59Speaker 10: Brandon Hyde who would manage the Orioles to the postseason.
- 24:02Speaker 10: Like they're having all these baseball conversations all the time.
- 24:06Speaker 10: It's not just about the scouting, but it's talking about
- 24:09Speaker 10: the scouting and then talking about the players. I mean,
- 24:11Speaker 10: when Tampa Bay went to get Freddy Peralta, Freddy Peralta
- 24:14Speaker 10: had pitched horribly for the Mets. And so they all
- 24:16Speaker 10: sat in a room and watched him. And then, you know,
- 24:18Speaker 10: they all get in a room and they go, okay,
- 24:20Speaker 10: what can we do? If we trade for Peralta, what
- 24:22Speaker 10: can we do to get him back to being the
- 24:24Speaker 10: guy he was a year ago? And then they do it.
- 24:26Speaker 10: And then they trade you know, a first round pick
- 24:28Speaker 10: to go get their closer who ends up being an
- 24:31Speaker 10: impact closer for them. But a lot of that is
- 24:33Speaker 10: not just, you know, scouting and it's not just analytics.
- 24:36Speaker 10: It's being around, you know, major league baseball men with
- 24:40Speaker 10: good ideas and good concepts, understand the human element of
- 24:44Speaker 10: who can do what in what role, how can we
- 24:46Speaker 10: make them better? And then their obsession with making players better,
- 24:50Speaker 10: the obsession with, okay, let's find out what a player
- 24:52Speaker 10: does well. And let's emphasize that. And so, yeah, it's
- 24:56Speaker 10: been fun to watch. And I even love Kevin Cash's
- 24:59Speaker 10: comments the other day when he talked about bunting. And
- 25:00Speaker 10: he said, you know, five years ago, we were told
- 25:04Speaker 10: that the analytics said, don't bunt, we can't give up outs. Okay, well,
- 25:07Speaker 10: then everyone started throwing 100 miles an hour. And we
- 25:10Speaker 10: started figuring out that not everyone's going to be able
- 25:12Speaker 10: to hit some of the pitching that we're watching now
- 25:14Speaker 10: with 100 miles an hour and some of the shapes
- 25:15Speaker 10: and sizes.
- 25:16Speaker 5: So what?
- 25:17Speaker 10: OK, let's let's bring the bunk back, move the runner,
- 25:19Speaker 10: get him over, use athleticism, get him in and get
- 25:22Speaker 10: a run. And certainly it works. And it's just both organizations,
- 25:25Speaker 10: the blend of scouting analytics and great baseball minds together
- 25:30Speaker 10: as a group talking about in a collaborative effort. That's
- 25:33Speaker 10: what both these teams have done. And they're sitting here
- 25:36Speaker 10: in the World Series as the two best teams in baseball.
- 25:39Speaker 10: And I'm here for it.
- 25:42Speaker 2: See, Kiko, it's just about time.
- 25:44Speaker 1: Just about time to talk about what else is going
- 25:47Speaker 1: on in the world besides the World Series. So, yes,
- 25:50Speaker 1: I mean, the one thing I will say is we're
- 25:53Speaker 1: tracking the trends. Sometimes when it's a sweep or most
- 25:56Speaker 1: times when it's a sweep scenario and it's 3-0, A.J.,
- 26:00Speaker 1: If you want to get to a big game, like
- 26:02Speaker 1: let's say you're a Dodgers.
- 26:03Speaker 2: Fan in the NLCS, and a lot of times.
- 26:05Speaker 1: The tickets are pricey, the fourth game there of a
- 26:09Speaker 1: 3-0 is usually the best time to capitalize. This scenario
- 26:12Speaker 1: is a little bit different because Brewers fans seem to
- 26:15Speaker 1: be like flying in this morning still. To go get
- 26:18Speaker 1: a piece of a potential clinch scenario. So it's a
- 26:21Speaker 1: hot ticket. It stays that way. So if you're on Seagate,
- 26:23Speaker 1: don't be waiting until like, I don't know, six o'clock
- 26:25Speaker 1: to try and grab the last minute seat. Like go,
- 26:27Speaker 1: I would go now, go yesterday to use the code
- 26:31Speaker 1: and get the tickets.
- 26:34Speaker 3: Again, there's so many Brewers fans here and it's only
- 26:37Speaker 3: going to get crazier. So don't, don't wait because all
- 26:41Speaker 3: the Tampa Bay Rays fans were thinking, Oh, we might
- 26:43Speaker 3: make this two, two. are now being like, oh, I
- 26:45Speaker 3: can make a bunch of money and get my money
- 26:47Speaker 3: back on my ticket and some from these Brewer fans.
- 26:49Speaker 3: So there's going to be a ton of Brewers fans here.
- 26:51Speaker 3: They're already here, and it's only going.
- 26:53Speaker 4: To get worse.
- 26:54Speaker 2: Right. It's buying tickets.
- 26:55Speaker 1: It's selling tickets that can all get done on SeatGeek.
- 26:58Speaker 1: Over 35 million downloads. It's the official ticket marketplace of
- 27:02Speaker 1: Major League Baseball.
- 27:03Speaker 2: And then what?
- 27:04Speaker 5: You know what?
- 27:04Speaker 1: I know what AJ's going to say. I'm going to
- 27:06Speaker 1: go to Kratz on this one. What's the first event
- 27:09Speaker 1: that you're going to attend after the World Series, Kratz?
- 27:14Speaker 1: Between now and opening day, whenever that is.
- 27:17Speaker 4: That's easy.
- 27:18Speaker 6: I'm going to an NBA game. I haven't been to
- 27:20Speaker 6: an NBA game ever. I've been to a lot of
- 27:24Speaker 6: hockey games. I want to go to an NBA game.
- 27:26Speaker 6: I mean, the Sixers have LeBron James. You get to
- 27:28Speaker 6: see the greatest of your time. Never been to an
- 27:34Speaker 6: NBA game.
- 27:35Speaker 4: Wait, what?
- 27:36Speaker 2: You've never been to an NBA? You've never been to
- 27:39Speaker 2: a basketball game? NBA?
- 27:42Speaker 4: Never. Why not?
- 27:44Speaker 5: Not worth it.
- 27:46Speaker 7: What?
- 27:48Speaker 2: How can you say not worth it? You've never gone.
- 27:49Speaker 6: It's during hockey season. I would much rather go to
- 27:53Speaker 6: a hockey game.
- 27:54Speaker 5: I enjoy.
- 27:54Speaker 2: What are you, happy Gilmore?
- 27:57Speaker 5: 364 more days till next hockey season.
- 28:00Speaker 4: Can't do it.
- 28:01Speaker 2: Can't do it during hockey season. Wow, that's crazy, Kratz.
- 28:04Speaker 2: You're going to like it. I think it's going to
- 28:06Speaker 2: be better than you think. And we know where you're
- 28:09Speaker 2: going to get it. Wow, that's crazy. Kratz, a grown man,
- 28:13Speaker 2: never been to an NBA game.
- 28:14Speaker 4: Well, now's the time.
- 28:15Speaker 2: Territory 10. Yes, exactly.
- 28:17Speaker 1: He's going to go on SeatGeek, 10% off those tickets.
- 28:20Speaker 1: They have every event, like NBA, every NBA game can
- 28:24Speaker 1: be there. So Kratz will find his seats and he'll
- 28:26Speaker 1: watch LeBron. On the record, presented by the Fox One app,
- 28:35Speaker 1: Brewers TV analyst Vinny Rottino joining us right now. And
- 28:38Speaker 1: many Brewers fans were excited to hear that Vinny is
- 28:40Speaker 1: back on the show here today.
- 28:42Speaker 2: So Vinny, How are you?
- 28:43Speaker 1: On a scale of 1 to 100, how are you
- 28:46Speaker 1: feeling right now about what you've been seeing from this
- 28:48Speaker 1: Brewers team in October versus what you saw from them
- 28:51Speaker 1: in the regular season?
- 28:53Speaker 2: They've gotten even better, right?
- 28:55Speaker 11: You know, 1 to what? 1 to 100? I mean,
- 28:58Speaker 11: over 100. Yeah, I mean, unbelievable stuff from this Brewers team.
- 29:02Speaker 7: I think, guys, I.
- 29:04Speaker 11: Think what they thought going into the playoffs is that
- 29:08Speaker 11: they thought to themselves, hey, are we.
- 29:10Speaker 7: Are we going to be able to win in October?
- 29:12Speaker 11: And now all of a sudden, I think they've evolved
- 29:15Speaker 11: into a mindset of we're unstoppable. And so that's pretty
- 29:18Speaker 11: scary considering this team is so young, so inexperienced and
- 29:22Speaker 11: really not going to, there's no signs of slowing down
- 29:25Speaker 11: and they've got the best farm system in baseball. This
- 29:27Speaker 11: team is going to be really good for a long
- 29:29Speaker 11: time considering now that they know how to win in October,
- 29:32Speaker 11: obviously finish it off and finish this. I think it's
- 29:35Speaker 11: going to be a sweep. I think we're all going
- 29:37Speaker 11: to be surprised if it's not a sweep at this point.
- 29:40Speaker 3: Vinny, that's what I keep telling people. When I was
- 29:42Speaker 3: walking around the park last night, everyone's like, what's going
- 29:44Speaker 3: on with the Brewers? They just don't believe that they're
- 29:46Speaker 3: going to lose. They don't believe they're going to, no
- 29:49Speaker 3: matter what happens in the game, they go down four
- 29:50Speaker 3: nothing in the first.
- 29:51Speaker 4: No big deal.
- 29:52Speaker 3: We'll just come back and win that game. Oh, we
- 29:54Speaker 3: fall down to the Dodgers. Tyler Glass now.
- 29:56Speaker 4: Who cares? We'll come back and win that game. It
- 29:59Speaker 4: doesn't matter.
- 29:59Speaker 3: This team has more belief than any team I've seen
- 30:02Speaker 3: in a really long time. And once you get that,
- 30:05Speaker 3: it's so hard to take it away because people say, oh,
- 30:07Speaker 3: baseball is not about momentum. Right now, the Brewers are
- 30:10Speaker 3: just riding a tsunami of momentum that they believe they'll
- 30:13Speaker 3: never lose again.
- 30:14Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 30:15Speaker 7: Momentum is a huge part of baseball. You guys know, right?
- 30:17Speaker 7: So not only in game momentum.
- 30:20Speaker 11: But also, you know, different parts of the season that
- 30:23Speaker 11: you can feel that momentum. And right now that snowball
- 30:26Speaker 11: of momentum is rolling down the hill and it's unstoppable
- 30:29Speaker 11: and they feel it's unstoppable. And it's every single guy
- 30:31Speaker 11: on the roster that feels that it's every single guy.
- 30:35Speaker 11: Guy on the coaching staff that feels that front office
- 30:37Speaker 11: ownership group. I mean, everybody, even the fans, we all are,
- 30:41Speaker 11: we're just, just kind of going bananas right now. I mean,
- 30:44Speaker 11: the watch party last night, guys, for the brewers. I
- 30:46Speaker 11: don't know if you saw that as 31,000, the secondary
- 30:49Speaker 11: market for those tickets, they, they sold for face value
- 30:52Speaker 11: at 15 bucks and they're over 300 bucks right now
- 30:55Speaker 11: to watch the watch party in at American family field.
- 30:58Speaker 11: I mean, What's going on right now in Milwaukee with
- 31:01Speaker 11: this fan base and with the team, that momentum is
- 31:04Speaker 11: rolling down that hill.
- 31:05Speaker 7: And yeah, it is unstoppable right now. I just, it is,
- 31:09Speaker 7: it's almost scary. I agree.
- 31:11Speaker 11: I haven't seen anything like this in a very long time.
- 31:13Speaker 11: I feel like this Brewers team could beat any team
- 31:15Speaker 11: in the history of the game.
- 31:17Speaker 7: Just the way that they're playing. It's just so fun
- 31:19Speaker 7: to watch.
- 31:21Speaker 6: Well, they can't beat the 2005 White Sox.
- 31:24Speaker 4: Okay.
- 31:24Speaker 6: Nobody could beat them. So just, just make sure, you know, close.
- 31:30Speaker 6: When did this evolution happen? You said this team has
- 31:33Speaker 6: evolved into this. Did you see it? Was it a game,
- 31:36Speaker 6: a series? Was it when they played the Dodgers in
- 31:39Speaker 6: the regular season? Did it happen against the Padres? When
- 31:42Speaker 6: do you think this evolution actually happened?
- 31:45Speaker 11: I think it was the Churrio walk-off base hit in
- 31:47Speaker 11: game two. I think they really started to not only believe,
- 31:51Speaker 11: but I feel like they thought they were going to
- 31:53Speaker 11: be just unbeatable at that point in October, you know,
- 31:57Speaker 11: once they went up to nothing, I think before that,
- 32:00Speaker 11: I don't think they felt it. I also think there
- 32:02Speaker 11: was a point in the season right at the end,
- 32:05Speaker 11: they put the captains, the sea on Christian Yelich's Jersey.
- 32:09Speaker 11: And then all of a sudden he was obviously very,
- 32:11Speaker 11: they're all important, obviously to playing well and having a
- 32:16Speaker 11: sound offensive performance. kind of approach at the plate. You
- 32:20Speaker 11: need to have all nine guys having, you can't have
- 32:24Speaker 11: any outs in the lineup. I think you're seeing that
- 32:26Speaker 11: right now with the Rays and some of the other
- 32:28Speaker 11: teams that the Brewers have played in the playoffs so far.
- 32:30Speaker 11: And right now the Brewers haven't had that at all
- 32:34Speaker 11: up and down the lineup. They're just so difficult to
- 32:36Speaker 11: pitch to. Christian Yelich was a huge part of that.
- 32:38Speaker 11: He has not had a lot of success in the
- 32:40Speaker 11: post season and all of a sudden he is. And
- 32:42Speaker 11: I think he, he got that little shot in the
- 32:45Speaker 11: arm and, perhaps maybe a little extra motivation to play
- 32:49Speaker 11: at his best. Although you guys know that's not how
- 32:52Speaker 11: it works, but just that little, you know, something that
- 32:55Speaker 11: little shot in the arm to, to understand like, okay,
- 32:58Speaker 11: he is a very good player and he's a huge
- 33:00Speaker 11: part of this thing.
- 33:02Speaker 7: And the fact that Pat Murphy called him the team.
- 33:04Speaker 11: Captain and he had so much feel to call Robin
- 33:08Speaker 11: you out to, to, that he understands how, how, what
- 33:12Speaker 11: kind of responsibility that is. Uh, I think, I think
- 33:16Speaker 11: that was also a turning point. There's been so many
- 33:19Speaker 11: different parts of the season. That's why Pat Murphy guys
- 33:22Speaker 11: is the best manager of baseball because he knows when
- 33:25Speaker 11: to push those right buttons. Uh, and he knows, um,
- 33:29Speaker 11: he always has that feel and the pulse of the
- 33:32Speaker 11: team to get them playing at their best and, um,
- 33:35Speaker 11: Hounsell was a really good manager.
- 33:37Speaker 7: He's phenomenal. Pat Murphy's better than him. He just is.
- 33:42Speaker 7: And I don't think there's any denying that at this point.
- 33:44Speaker 11: So there's been a bunch of them, but I think
- 33:47Speaker 11: those two points in the season have gotten the Brewers
- 33:50Speaker 11: to this point of playing like this.
- 33:53Speaker 4: Vinny, but this style doesn't win in the postseason.
- 33:56Speaker 8: Remember?
- 33:57Speaker 3: Doesn't win, and they don't hit home runs. So how
- 34:00Speaker 3: can they possibly win? Because every team is chasing home runs.
- 34:02Speaker 3: But the last two teams left really aren't that style
- 34:05Speaker 3: of play other than Junior Caminero really for the Rays.
- 34:08Speaker 3: The rest of these guys are more contact, line drive,
- 34:12Speaker 3: take the extra base. And that's what Murph does. I
- 34:14Speaker 3: think the superpower of Murph is making guys feel invincible.
- 34:17Speaker 4: No matter where they're at, no matter what they do.
- 34:20Speaker 4: But to me, remember last year, oh, this style doesn't work.
- 34:23Speaker 4: The Brewers can never win.
- 34:24Speaker 3: The Brewers not only do the same style, they've just
- 34:27Speaker 3: gotten better and better and better and better at it.
- 34:29Speaker 4: And they've actually honed their skills to a point where
- 34:31Speaker 4: no team can keep up.
- 34:33Speaker 7: That's true.
- 34:34Speaker 11: And so it is Murph, but guys, if you ever
- 34:37Speaker 11: get a chance to talk to Jason Lane as well,
- 34:39Speaker 11: and AJ, he'll talk to.
- 34:43Speaker 4: Your ear off.
- 34:44Speaker 11: And he, some of the stuff that he says about
- 34:47Speaker 11: the offensive strategy is kind of mind blowing.
- 34:50Speaker 7: I've been in this game since professionally since 2002.
- 34:54Speaker 4: Right.
- 34:54Speaker 11: So when AJ graduated high school, right. Or so, but
- 34:59Speaker 11: that was a, It's been, it's been such a, it's
- 35:04Speaker 11: been a revelation to hear him talk about their approach.
- 35:07Speaker 11: Their approach is so simple guys. It's C ball with clarity.
- 35:13Speaker 11: And get the barrel to the ball in the most
- 35:15Speaker 11: efficient way.
- 35:16Speaker 7: And that's it.
- 35:17Speaker 11: And the way that they've all bought into this has
- 35:21Speaker 11: allowed them to have this approach that is working in
- 35:23Speaker 11: the playoffs.
- 35:25Speaker 7: Why is that?
- 35:26Speaker 11: Is because it is so difficult if you're a pitcher
- 35:29Speaker 11: and if you're a catcher.
- 35:31Speaker 7: They, what do you call?
- 35:32Speaker 11: I mean, you have a 11 pitch at bat, 12
- 35:35Speaker 11: pitch at bat against Jake Bowers. Who's you know, you
- 35:37Speaker 11: have Yamamoto on the mound. You can push any button
- 35:40Speaker 11: you want. He's going to put the ball exactly where
- 35:42Speaker 11: you want. And what pitch do you call at that point? Finally,
- 35:45Speaker 11: they called the slow curve ball and he hits a
- 35:49Speaker 11: home run or no, no. I think that was the walk.
- 35:51Speaker 11: And then the next night against Snell, it was the Homer.
- 35:55Speaker 11: So that's why it's so difficult because that's all they
- 35:58Speaker 11: care about. I just care about seeing the ball with
- 36:01Speaker 11: clarity and I'm going to attack it the right way.
- 36:03Speaker 11: And all of a sudden, because of that, they see
- 36:06Speaker 11: the ball a little bit deeper and they drive it
- 36:09Speaker 11: to the opposite field.
- 36:10Speaker 7: They hit ground balls to the opposite field.
- 36:12Speaker 11: And it is so infuriating for opposing pitchers and catchers
- 36:16Speaker 11: and defenses to sit out there 183 pitches in game
- 36:21Speaker 11: one of this world series, the most in a playoff
- 36:23Speaker 11: game since whenever it's like so much, it's like, it's
- 36:29Speaker 11: a fun brand of baseball, but it's also a winning
- 36:31Speaker 11: brand of baseball.
- 36:32Speaker 7: That does work. Why?
- 36:33Speaker 11: Because you do get buy-in from every single guy. If
- 36:35Speaker 11: you did not have buy-in from every single guy, if
- 36:38Speaker 11: one guy thought, okay, I got to hit the three
- 36:39Speaker 11: run home run, I've got to be the hero. They
- 36:41Speaker 11: just don't think like that. And because of that, it's, it's,
- 36:44Speaker 11: it's a pass the baton mentality, all this cliche stuff
- 36:48Speaker 11: that's actually being played out in an authentic way.
- 36:51Speaker 7: By every single guy on the roster.
- 36:53Speaker 11: It's the way that I think, Carved out 14 years
- 36:56Speaker 11: of professional baseball, grinding my tail off up and down
- 37:00Speaker 11: for parts of five seasons. I was not a good
- 37:02Speaker 11: major league player, but that's the way that I wanted
- 37:06Speaker 11: to play the game and try to play the game
- 37:07Speaker 11: every single day.
- 37:08Speaker 7: And these guys are playing it.
- 37:11Speaker 11: All 26 guys, more than that, all 60 guys that
- 37:14Speaker 11: were on the roster this year. And I'm super passionate
- 37:17Speaker 11: about watching this team play because it's, it's the way.
- 37:22Speaker 11: Winning teams win, right? And you guys know that as
- 37:25Speaker 11: well as anybody, but it's the way winning. You guys
- 37:28Speaker 11: had it in 2018, Kratzy. You had glimpses of it
- 37:31Speaker 11: and just fell short, but it just works.
- 37:34Speaker 5: It does.
- 37:35Speaker 7: It just works. And it works over the long haul.
- 37:39Speaker 7: It works in October.
- 37:40Speaker 11: But in order to get guys to be kind of
- 37:43Speaker 11: relaxed enough in October to implement this, I think they
- 37:47Speaker 11: needed some belief and they got it in that San
- 37:48Speaker 11: Diego series.
- 37:50Speaker 6: Vinny, no matter what your major league career says, I
- 37:53Speaker 6: saw you in the minor leagues, and it worked in
- 37:54Speaker 6: the minor leagues. You played that style. But when I
- 37:57Speaker 6: ask this question, don't forget that you did catch, too.
- 38:00Speaker 6: You didn't catch a lot in the big leagues, but
- 38:02Speaker 6: you did put on the tools of intelligence.
- 38:06Speaker 5: Who's the MVP for this series?
- 38:10Speaker 11: Man, there's so many different players. I think you've got
- 38:15Speaker 11: to give it to Contreras. If he does anything tonight
- 38:19Speaker 11: and they win, I think you give it to Contreras. Although, gosh,
- 38:22Speaker 11: how can you deny Ashby an MVP considering what he's.
- 38:26Speaker 7: Done over the course of the entire postseason?
- 38:29Speaker 11: Contreras just because look, he's, he's taken his game to
- 38:32Speaker 11: another level at this point, not only offensively, but just
- 38:37Speaker 11: that leadership he's blocking the baseball exceptional. He was not
- 38:40Speaker 11: a great blocker early on this season. Nestor corridor go
- 38:45Speaker 11: is kind of the unsung hero of the coaching staff. It's,
- 38:48Speaker 11: it's literally every single guy in that coaching staff. That's
- 38:51Speaker 11: been awesome. But yeah, you know, Nestor corridor is kind
- 38:54Speaker 11: of a name that nobody knows. He's the, he's not
- 38:57Speaker 11: the catching coordinator. I forget his title, but he's like
- 39:00Speaker 11: a bet. One of the bench coaches, but then also
- 39:02Speaker 11: handles the catching duties and helps the William, you know,
- 39:06Speaker 11: and he's kind of really helped William and mentor William because,
- 39:11Speaker 11: you know, there's been some talk and I think they
- 39:12Speaker 11: said it on the broadcast too, that he was, there
- 39:15Speaker 11: was issues in Atlanta with William Contreras. Well, Nestor corridor
- 39:17Speaker 11: has kind of mentored this kid and has developed them
- 39:20Speaker 11: into a great teammate and helped them develop behind the
- 39:24Speaker 11: plate defensively.
- 39:25Speaker 7: But, you know, he's calling, he's calling a great game.
- 39:28Speaker 7: He's receiving the ball.
- 39:29Speaker 11: Well, the challenges, I mean, I didn't think challenging would
- 39:32Speaker 11: be something that we talk about that often. I just
- 39:35Speaker 11: figured it would be, you know, something that, you know,
- 39:39Speaker 11: is kind of a novelty and a little nuance in
- 39:41Speaker 11: the game. But it is important as heck. You guys
- 39:43Speaker 11: can see that. And Couture is confidently challenging pitches that
- 39:46Speaker 11: are miscalled offensively. balls, uh, to strikes. And, and so
- 39:50Speaker 11: he's been phenomenal. I think you got to give it
- 39:53Speaker 11: to him at this point. He's been the team leader
- 39:54Speaker 11: in the, in one of the captains. They've got a
- 39:56Speaker 11: number of different guys that have assumed that role.
- 40:00Speaker 7: Um, on this team.
- 40:01Speaker 11: So, uh, but Ashby has been phenomenal and contrarious or
- 40:05Speaker 11: a cheerio. Uh, I mean, what more can you say
- 40:09Speaker 11: about him? He is a superstar.
- 40:12Speaker 3: Vinny guy is not going to win the MVP, but
- 40:14Speaker 3: as an MVP for this team is, is Brandon Woodruff,
- 40:17Speaker 3: big woo.
- 40:18Speaker 4: He got to pitch last night. It was a really
- 40:19Speaker 4: cool moment.
- 40:20Speaker 3: They sent down, was it Bryn Hester, to tell him
- 40:22Speaker 3: or ask him if he wanted to pitch tonight. Then
- 40:24Speaker 3: he came and I know he gave up a run,
- 40:26Speaker 3: but it really wasn't about that. It was just about
- 40:28Speaker 3: him being back out there. What has he meant to
- 40:30Speaker 3: this team and then getting to pitch in the World
- 40:32Speaker 3: Series for a guy that's been here his entire career?
- 40:34Speaker 3: What does that mean for Big Whoop?
- 40:37Speaker 7: It means everything. Big Wu is another one of these guys.
- 40:41Speaker 11: It's him and Christian Yelich are the longest-tenured Brewers on
- 40:45Speaker 11: the roster, and they've been through it all.
- 40:47Speaker 7: They've seen it all.
- 40:48Speaker 11: They've gone through a lot of the heartache that's happened
- 40:51Speaker 11: over the last, what is it, eight out of the
- 40:53Speaker 11: last nine years they've been in the playoffs. So he's
- 40:57Speaker 11: a guy that in 2016, he was up in the
- 41:00Speaker 11: big leagues, I believe, or 17, and it just– He's
- 41:07Speaker 11: been there, done. He's the only organization that he's been with,
- 41:10Speaker 11: and he's been waiting for this as well as the
- 41:13Speaker 11: rest of the Brewers faithful for a very long time
- 41:16Speaker 11: to get to the World Series and potentially win the
- 41:18Speaker 11: World Series.
- 41:18Speaker 7: So it was cool to see that he didn't.
- 41:20Speaker 11: Want to just be, you know, they took off Chad Patrick,
- 41:24Speaker 11: who's been instrumental in helping the Brewers win 103 games
- 41:27Speaker 11: and get through to the World Series, but he was
- 41:29Speaker 11: left off the roster.
- 41:31Speaker 7: You feel bad for him, but at the.
- 41:33Speaker 11: Same time, Big Wu is a guy that can can help.
- 41:36Speaker 11: And he said that he didn't want to just be
- 41:38Speaker 11: kind of a courtesy ad to the roster. He wanted
- 41:40Speaker 11: to be a guy that can help. And Pat Murphy said,
- 41:43Speaker 11: you know, he, he is certainly a guy that can help.
- 41:45Speaker 11: I mean, I talked to big Wu all year long and,
- 41:49Speaker 11: And it was, he kept his spirits up and he,
- 41:53Speaker 11: and I was wondering if that last shoulder surgery or
- 41:56Speaker 11: shoulder injury was going to end his career. He said,
- 41:59Speaker 11: he said, no, I'm going to go through the gauntlet
- 42:01Speaker 11: of rehab again, another year of rehab because why? Because
- 42:05Speaker 11: he knows that he can get hitters out he knows
- 42:08Speaker 11: how to pitch now with his 89 to 93 mile
- 42:11Speaker 11: per hour fastball i mean we've seen him even touch
- 42:14Speaker 11: the 95s and sixes every once in a while but
- 42:16Speaker 11: he's really pitching at like 92 now because he knows
- 42:20Speaker 11: how to read swings now he's got that little cutter
- 42:23Speaker 11: and he's got a great change up to go with
- 42:24Speaker 11: it so he's a he's a dude that can still
- 42:27Speaker 11: pitch and still get outs and he's um a guy
- 42:30Speaker 11: that wants this world series victory as bad as anybody
- 42:34Speaker 11: so it's really cool to see him on the roster
- 42:36Speaker 11: Did you.
- 42:37Speaker 6: See the report about Ferg's, how they went through a
- 42:39Speaker 6: month of beer in one night? Where and will you
- 42:44Speaker 6: be at a place to watch this game tonight when
- 42:49Speaker 6: they clinch? Or where would be the optimal place to
- 42:52Speaker 6: be a Brewers fan to watch the game tonight?
- 42:56Speaker 11: Well, the optimal place would be down in Tampa for sure.
- 42:58Speaker 11: But I stayed home with my wife. I got three
- 43:00Speaker 11: small daughters. We're going to actually go to the watch party.
- 43:03Speaker 11: They're going to be, um, beasts tomorrow because they're going
- 43:07Speaker 11: to be, you know, lacking of sleep, but it's going
- 43:09Speaker 11: to be, um, it's going to be great. Cause you know,
- 43:12Speaker 11: I mean, 31,000 fans screaming their heads off at last
- 43:16Speaker 11: night's watch party. It's, um, a place to be. We didn't,
- 43:19Speaker 11: we just watched it at home last night, but, um,
- 43:22Speaker 11: we're definitely going to be at the watch party tonight. And, um, Yeah,
- 43:26Speaker 11: so games one and two was an epic tailgate. We
- 43:29Speaker 11: had the best tailgate. We had Jeff Jenkins there. We
- 43:32Speaker 11: had about 200 people there. We had a bunch of
- 43:34Speaker 11: Brewers fantasy campers there. Kratz, you weren't there. AJ, I
- 43:37Speaker 11: don't know where you were, but Scott, you guys got
- 43:40Speaker 11: to come to the tailgate next year because there's not
- 43:43Speaker 11: going to be a game six or seven, but they're
- 43:45Speaker 11: going to get back to the World Series considering, again,
- 43:48Speaker 11: how young they are and now that they know how
- 43:53Speaker 11: to win in October.
- 43:54Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 43:55Speaker 1: We did about as much as we could do with
- 43:57Speaker 1: documenting that. We had our pregame show at Catalano Square,
- 44:00Speaker 1: and then we did the– I don't know if you
- 44:02Speaker 1: saw it, but we did the little side session with
- 44:04Speaker 1: Jeff Jenkins.
- 44:06Speaker 2: Who else was with him? Someone else was with him.
- 44:08Speaker 4: Dillard.
- 44:09Speaker 2: Yeah, Dillard was with him. So we had those two.
- 44:11Speaker 1: They did like a nice little 10 minutes with us,
- 44:14Speaker 1: a live report from a tailgate, and we kept it
- 44:17Speaker 1: clean enough for it to be streaming everywhere.
- 44:19Speaker 2: So it was really good.
- 44:21Speaker 7: And I agree.
- 44:21Speaker 2: I would love to be there. Kratz, last word. What
- 44:23Speaker 2: do you got?
- 44:23Speaker 4: Anything. Jenny, sorry. I was in the Bahamas. I apologize.
- 44:26Speaker 4: The Bahamas, no offense to Milwaukee. Bahamas, Milwaukee, I'm going
- 44:29Speaker 4: to take the Bahamas.
- 44:30Speaker 7: All right. That's fair.
- 44:33Speaker 4: That's fair, Jenny.
- 44:35Speaker 6: No, that's good. You sure you don't want the team
- 44:39Speaker 6: to lose the next two? Because there's plenty of people
- 44:41Speaker 6: who are like, I want to see the Brewers back
- 44:43Speaker 6: for one more game. Would you be okay with the
- 44:46Speaker 6: Brewers pushing the limit and saying we're throwing games four
- 44:50Speaker 6: and five to clinch it at home?
- 44:52Speaker 7: No way. No way.
- 44:53Speaker 11: I mean, would it be nice to see the Brewers
- 44:56Speaker 11: clinch and win a World Series at home?
- 44:57Speaker 7: For sure. For sure.
- 44:58Speaker 11: But no, finish the thing off and win the thing.
- 45:00Speaker 11: Because look, they're going to be back there. They are
- 45:02Speaker 11: 100 percent going to be back the way that this
- 45:04Speaker 11: team is playing.
- 45:06Speaker 4: That's what they said in 82. That's what they said
- 45:08Speaker 4: in 82.
- 45:08Speaker 6: They said no six in Chicago, too.
- 45:14Speaker 7: Yeah, well, very true.
- 45:16Speaker 1: I'm with you, dude. They've built a really good foundation.
- 45:18Speaker 1: They've got guys locked up long term. They've got, I think,
- 45:20Speaker 1: the best prospect in baseball and Mata is still to
- 45:22Speaker 1: come next year. Like it is a special little run
- 45:25Speaker 1: they're on and they make the playoffs every year for
- 45:26Speaker 1: the past decade.
- 45:27Speaker 2: So, Vinny, enjoy the ride, man. Have fun tonight. Thanks
- 45:29Speaker 2: for swinging by, dude. Good to see you. Awesome.
- 45:31Speaker 7: Thanks for having me on, guys.
- 45:33Speaker 2: That's Vinny Rotino.
- 45:35Speaker 1: And that is MLB on Fox one more time, maybe
- 45:39Speaker 1: Fox one on the app there. this segment presented by
- 45:42Speaker 1: the Fox one app. You can stream the 2026 world
- 45:45Speaker 1: series live on the Fox one app. So you don't
- 45:48Speaker 1: need TV cable, all that you can stream now, and
- 45:51Speaker 1: you can start your Fox one three-day free trial today
- 45:54Speaker 1: at Fox one.com. Hot corner is presented by lids. I
- 46:02Speaker 1: felt like this was the perfect lid segment since we
- 46:05Speaker 1: have seen so many brewers hats down in Tampa Bay.
- 46:09Speaker 2: Around the trop in St. Petersburg.
- 46:11Speaker 1: So AJ is basically live on the scene as he
- 46:15Speaker 1: hit game three and he'll be at game four. AJ,
- 46:17Speaker 1: paint the picture of how much of a takeover this
- 46:19Speaker 1: is for Brewers fans around the town and in the
- 46:22Speaker 1: ballpark itself.
- 46:25Speaker 4: I'm staying down on.
- 46:28Speaker 5: St.
- 46:28Speaker 4: Pete beach and it, it walked the beach this morning
- 46:32Speaker 4: and in the hotel I'm staying at, it is all
- 46:35Speaker 4: Brewers fans. It is insane.
- 46:36Speaker 3: 25 to one brewer fan versus guy with a racer.
- 46:40Speaker 3: It's everywhere you go. They're all talking brewers, uh, rock
- 46:43Speaker 3: their TV guy. What's his name? Bill Schroeder. I don't
- 46:46Speaker 3: want to say that wrong.
- 46:47Speaker 4: Am I, am I okay.
- 46:49Speaker 2: Yeah, you got it right.
- 46:50Speaker 8: You nailed it.
- 46:51Speaker 4: He's in the hotel.
- 46:52Speaker 3: I'm staying in and I was in there eating, uh,
- 46:55Speaker 3: breakfast this morning and he walked out and he got
- 46:57Speaker 3: a standing ovation in the hotel lobby because the brewers
- 47:00Speaker 3: fans were chanting, let's go brewers.
- 47:02Speaker 4: And one more, one more. And he just kind of
- 47:04Speaker 4: waved and was like, I know one more, I want more. So,
- 47:07Speaker 4: It is crazy. Last night at the game, it was crazy.
- 47:09Speaker 4: Everywhere you looked, there was Brewers fans.
- 47:11Speaker 3: Like I said earlier, the favorite story was when the
- 47:14Speaker 3: Brewers went up 10-0, a bunch of them took their
- 47:16Speaker 3: shirts off, and the Rays fans were so mad, they
- 47:18Speaker 3: just kept yelling at them.
- 47:19Speaker 4: Put your shirt on, you fat guy. Hey, fat guy,
- 47:22Speaker 4: put your shirt on. You don't need to be wearing
- 47:23Speaker 4: your shirt off.
- 47:25Speaker 3: And the Brewers guy just kept pointing at the scoreboard like, hey,
- 47:28Speaker 3: you know what?
- 47:28Speaker 4: So what?
- 47:29Speaker 3: So they are in a full takeover mode, and it's
- 47:32Speaker 3: going to be worse tonight because they are all going
- 47:34Speaker 3: to fly down.
- 47:35Speaker 4: The drop's going to be Brewer-fied. And you know what?
- 47:39Speaker 3: I'm here for it because it's been fun. The Brewers
- 47:41Speaker 3: are great. The Rays are a great organization. The Brewers
- 47:43Speaker 3: are a great organization. But the Brewers have been the
- 47:45Speaker 3: best team. And tonight, sadly, if you're a Rays fan,
- 47:48Speaker 3: I think it all comes to an end. And I mean,
- 47:50Speaker 3: there's so much we can talk about in the game
- 47:52Speaker 3: last night. But for me, it was the atmosphere in
- 47:55Speaker 3: the trough, which I've never seen it like that.
- 47:57Speaker 2: Follow up on the fan experience inside the ballpark.
- 48:01Speaker 1: You had texted us before the game around 35% Brewers fans.
- 48:06Speaker 1: Is that what the number felt like?
- 48:08Speaker 3: Well, that was in like the line. I was in
- 48:11Speaker 3: the line to get into the game. Once I got in,
- 48:13Speaker 3: it was probably 40% Brewer fans. There was whole sections
- 48:18Speaker 3: of Brewer fans in the stands. So I don't know
- 48:21Speaker 3: if it was 40%, but it was, if as the
- 48:24Speaker 3: game went on, it got louder and louder. It felt
- 48:26Speaker 3: like it was like 75% Brewer fans. Cause a lot
- 48:28Speaker 3: of the Rays fans left, but, I don't know. They
- 48:33Speaker 3: were definitely the vocal majority and probably the drinking majority also.
- 48:38Speaker 2: Yeah, they know how to throw down. Probably beer over
- 48:42Speaker 2: liquor for them too.
- 48:43Speaker 6: Sorry, it can't happen. You can't have that many away
- 48:46Speaker 6: fans in your stadium for the first World Series game
- 48:50Speaker 6: since 2008.
- 48:51Speaker 7: I'm sorry.
- 48:54Speaker 6: How do you prevent it? You as an organization actually like...
- 48:59Speaker 6: advertise in your city actually like promote your team like
- 49:04Speaker 6: there it's not a to me it's not a fan
- 49:06Speaker 6: base issue the fan base isn't isn't catered to and
- 49:10Speaker 6: i don't think you know there should be more i
- 49:12Speaker 6: don't think there should be more raised fans in aj's
- 49:15Speaker 6: hotel they all live in the area so they're probably
- 49:17Speaker 6: not getting hotels but in the stadium like you shouldn't
- 49:22Speaker 6: even if AJ is exaggerating when you go to an
- 49:26Speaker 6: away game and maybe AJ had a different experience in
- 49:28Speaker 6: Houston but when you go to an away game in
- 49:33Speaker 6: the World Series you can see the pockets of fans
- 49:36Speaker 6: and other than that that is it Like it shouldn't
- 49:40Speaker 6: be this way as a fan base. I, you know, I,
- 49:44Speaker 6: I blame the organization, previous ownership, not advertising, not, not
- 49:48Speaker 6: promoting their team as much in the city, whether you
- 49:51Speaker 6: got to go over a bridge or a causeway, whatever
- 49:53Speaker 6: it is, it just can't be this way.
- 49:58Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 49:59Speaker 1: I mean the lightning don't deal with this. Like, let
- 50:03Speaker 1: me paint a quick scenario for.
- 50:04Speaker 2: You, AJ.
- 50:05Speaker 1: Cause I mean, you know how popular the lightning are there.
- 50:09Speaker 1: If the Lightning had never won a Stanley Cup, right?
- 50:11Speaker 1: Let's say they didn't have all the success that they've had.
- 50:13Speaker 1: They've been good, but they haven't gotten over the hump.
- 50:15Speaker 2: I know they have.
- 50:17Speaker 1: And then they had this going on. And let's say
- 50:19Speaker 1: they were playing the Minnesota Wild and they had never won.
- 50:23Speaker 1: There would not be a Wild fan takeover. Tampa Bay
- 50:27Speaker 1: would be filling that place up. It's just a different
- 50:30Speaker 1: popularity level. They're in two different planets right now in
- 50:34Speaker 1: terms of popularity.
- 50:35Speaker 3: Listen, we talk about this all the time, and I'm
- 50:38Speaker 3: sorry to say this. When it goes to the other
- 50:41Speaker 3: side of the bay, it's going to be different. Again,
- 50:43Speaker 3: I think it was 108 miles from my house to
- 50:46Speaker 3: the trough. It took me three hours. It would cut
- 50:51Speaker 3: at least an hour, if not more, if I didn't
- 50:53Speaker 3: have to go over the causeway.
- 50:55Speaker 4: Okay? That's it.
- 50:57Speaker 3: At least an hour if I didn't have to go
- 50:59Speaker 3: over the causeway. It's completely different. The causeways are always
- 51:03Speaker 3: backed up. There's always something wrong. And it's just farther
- 51:06Speaker 3: for so many people. And their main population base is
- 51:10Speaker 3: in Tampa, Tampa, Tampa.
- 51:12Speaker 4: Not in St.
- 51:13Speaker 3: Pete, not in Tampa Bay, not in Tampa, St.
- 51:15Speaker 2: Pete.
- 51:15Speaker 4: It's in Tampa.
- 51:16Speaker 3: That's why the Bucs do well, why the Lightning do well.
- 51:19Speaker 3: And that's why stuff in Tampa does better than it
- 51:21Speaker 3: does in St.
- 51:22Speaker 4: Pete. St. Pete's better than it used to be? No questions.
- 51:25Speaker 3: And by the way, the trop is way better than
- 51:27Speaker 3: it used to be too, from a fan perspective and
- 51:29Speaker 3: all the stuff they added after the hurricane took it down.
- 51:32Speaker 3: It's much, much better. But when they move into Tampa, Tampa,
- 51:35Speaker 3: I think it'll be different. I have family that lives here.
- 51:37Speaker 3: They are more excited because it's easier for them to
- 51:39Speaker 3: get to. They live in Tampa proper. So you can
- 51:44Speaker 3: say advertising or this and that, but if they don't
- 51:47Speaker 3: really advertise the team until you get into St. Pete,
- 51:49Speaker 3: they don't really advertise this team in Tampa because it's
- 51:52Speaker 3: not in Tampa.
- 51:53Speaker 4: It's in St.
- 51:54Speaker 3: Pete as much as they want it. Yes, it is
- 51:56Speaker 3: in Tampa Bay, but it's not in Tampa. They don't
- 51:59Speaker 3: really advertise it in Tampa because people don't want to
- 52:02Speaker 3: drive over the causeway slash bridge.
- 52:05Speaker 7: Yep.
- 52:06Speaker 1: My one argument against that, because I'm with you on 98%
- 52:09Speaker 1: of this, my one argument against that is this is
- 52:11Speaker 1: the World Series. You have people traveling from all over.
- 52:16Speaker 3: Here's the problem. People buy these tickets beforehand. A lot
- 52:20Speaker 3: of these sites buy tickets beforehand. And whoever gets to
- 52:23Speaker 3: buy them, buys them. And a lot of probably the
- 52:24Speaker 3: Tampa fans said, oh, we might not make the World Series.
- 52:26Speaker 3: We're not going to accept our options. They have 30,000
- 52:30Speaker 3: season tickets anyways. So the hardcore Tampa fans that I know,
- 52:35Speaker 3: Tampa Bay fans, they were all at the game last night.
- 52:37Speaker 4: I saw a ton of them.
- 52:38Speaker 3: Got people that I knew. But it's the secondary market
- 52:41Speaker 3: where the people say, oh, man, we want to buy tickets.
- 52:44Speaker 3: The Brewers fans pounced on it as soon as they
- 52:46Speaker 3: figured out. And don't forget, the Brewers knew they were
- 52:48Speaker 3: going to the World Series first. So they just said, man,
- 52:51Speaker 3: we're buying tickets to Tampa were, you know, or wherever.
- 52:54Speaker 3: And boom, they pounced on as soon as they found
- 52:56Speaker 3: out and they bought as many tickets as they could.
- 52:58Speaker 3: And they're great fans. Not that Tampa Bay fans aren't
- 53:01Speaker 3: the hardcore ones.
- 53:01Speaker 4: It's like Oakland. Oakland was the same way.
- 53:03Speaker 3: They had a core group of 10,000 or so fans
- 53:05Speaker 3: that were unbelievable. But after that, you're like.
- 53:08Speaker 4: Ah, okay. Okay.
- 53:11Speaker 1: So, and we can go all day on this. I
- 53:12Speaker 1: want to get to the second layer of this conversation.
- 53:15Speaker 1: Caminero's play, which ended up, you know, giving the inning life.
- 53:20Speaker 1: Going a second, gets overturned, inning continues, inning is still going.
- 53:25Speaker 1: And then also lineup decisions. I think it was guys
- 53:28Speaker 1: that are hitting close to 300 in the playoffs with
- 53:30Speaker 1: a ton of RBIs, all sitting for guys that hadn't
- 53:34Speaker 1: hit a lick really in the playoffs. I think it
- 53:36Speaker 1: was two for 22 entering last night's game for the
- 53:39Speaker 1: guys that were replacing... Liam Hicks, Jonathan Aranda, and Palacios.
- 53:43Speaker 1: Those were the three names where people are like, you're
- 53:46Speaker 1: sitting all three of those guys? That's three of the
- 53:48Speaker 1: top five, and I get the platoon situation, but is
- 53:51Speaker 1: the postseason different from the regular season in terms of
- 53:54Speaker 1: the buttons you need to press?
- 53:57Speaker 4: Should be. Should be. You play your best players in
- 53:59Speaker 4: the postseason.
- 54:00Speaker 3: I'm a big believer in that, and that's why a
- 54:03Speaker 3: lot of times, and I think crowds would agree with me,
- 54:05Speaker 3: the teams that are really good are the teams that
- 54:07Speaker 3: basically play the same nine guys. Now, You have exceptions
- 54:10Speaker 3: like Kike Hernandez will come in and hit for a
- 54:12Speaker 3: lefty in the postseason. But that was his role, and
- 54:14Speaker 3: that's been basically his career, right? But look at the
- 54:17Speaker 3: teams that win. They play basically the same.
- 54:19Speaker 4: Nine guys over and over again.
- 54:21Speaker 3: And the Brewers do that pretty much all the time
- 54:23Speaker 3: except for, okay, they'll switch Joey Ortiz and Hamilton, right?
- 54:27Speaker 4: But other than that, it's pretty much the same.
- 54:28Speaker 3: You know, Churrio on left. Mitchell's been playing center. Freelick
- 54:32Speaker 3: or Larb. Freelick's kind of taken over and right, right?
- 54:34Speaker 3: Jake Bauer's lefty-righty because Andrew Vaughn got hurt the last–
- 54:37Speaker 3: or sick the last few weeks. It's been Jake Bowers
- 54:40Speaker 3: at first. It's been Terang at second. It's been Pratt
- 54:43Speaker 3: at short. And then it's been Contreras behind the plate.
- 54:46Speaker 3: So these teams play the same guys, and that's the
- 54:49Speaker 3: way you win.
- 54:49Speaker 4: You get used to it.
- 54:50Speaker 3: You get to where your spot is in the lineup.
- 54:52Speaker 3: To take all three of these guys out, that was crazy.
- 54:54Speaker 3: And after Kratz's comments, I want to get to the
- 54:56Speaker 3: Caminero play because there's so much that went into that play,
- 54:59Speaker 3: but I want to hear Kratz's thoughts on the lineup.
- 55:03Speaker 6: If you watch the Brewers during the year, it wasn't
- 55:06Speaker 6: always like this. Murph has made a concerted effort to
- 55:09Speaker 6: keep those same guys in there.
- 55:11Speaker 5: Is he hot? Are they hot? Absolutely.
- 55:13Speaker 6: Is he doing a heat check and just launching threes
- 55:18Speaker 6: from wherever?
- 55:18Speaker 7: No.
- 55:19Speaker 6: He's been convinced that Sal Freelick needs to be in there,
- 55:23Speaker 6: that the Joey Ortiz little dinged up, maybe he can't play,
- 55:28Speaker 6: but they have kept with the same lineup. So you
- 55:33Speaker 6: would think the Rays would be like, hey, guys, you
- 55:36Speaker 6: have faced lefties before. We need our best hitters in there.
- 55:45Speaker 4: Agreed.
- 55:45Speaker 5: Go ahead, AJ. Agreed.
- 55:47Speaker 4: Oh, I mean, are we going straight to Caminero?
- 55:49Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah, because then we've got our next guest ready
- 55:51Speaker 7: to run.
- 55:52Speaker 3: I mean, listen, here's the thing about the junior Caminero.
- 55:53Speaker 3: This is not– I mean, it is directly with lead
- 55:56Speaker 3: day runs. First of all, you never know what's going
- 55:58Speaker 3: to happen. The next pitch could have been a ground
- 56:00Speaker 3: ball and they get out of the inning. Here's the thing. Cratson,
- 56:02Speaker 3: you know this. When you're in Little League, what does
- 56:05Speaker 3: the coach always tell you? Know where you're going with
- 56:07Speaker 3: the ball if it's hit to you. Know who the
- 56:09Speaker 3: runners are. Know the situation. What happened here is Caminero
- 56:13Speaker 3: just thought he could get the runner at second because, oh,
- 56:16Speaker 3: who's running? He didn't realize Christian Yelich, an unbelievably good
- 56:19Speaker 3: base runner, huge lead because of the situation, not holding
- 56:23Speaker 3: him on. There was a runner in front of him,
- 56:24Speaker 3: and he busted his tail. How many times, Kratz, did
- 56:26Speaker 3: you have a coach tell you, hey, get a hit
- 56:29Speaker 3: for the guy behind you? If you're on first, bust
- 56:31Speaker 3: your tail and try to get to second to get
- 56:33Speaker 3: the guy behind you to hit who hit the ground ball,
- 56:35Speaker 3: and it worked out. You have to know William Contreras,
- 56:37Speaker 3: not as fast as Christian Yellich. Caminero has a good arm.
- 56:40Speaker 3: He could have spun, set his feet, and made the
- 56:43Speaker 3: throw to first and gotten out of this inning. Now,
- 56:44Speaker 3: would that have changed the game? Heck, it was already
- 56:46Speaker 3: down 2-0. I don't know, but it led to just
- 56:49Speaker 3: an avalanche. You cannot give the Milwaukee Brewers any extra runs.
- 56:52Speaker 3: If you do, they take advantage of it. I mean,
- 56:54Speaker 3: not always eight runs, but they figure out a way
- 56:56Speaker 3: to do this. And for me, it was just a
- 56:59Speaker 3: preparation thing. And I know Kevin Cash said, well, it
- 57:01Speaker 3: happened really fast and da-da-da-da-da. But in your mind, you
- 57:04Speaker 3: got to say, all right, I mean, I did this
- 57:05Speaker 3: as a catcher. All right, if the ball's in the dirt,
- 57:07Speaker 3: where do I go with the throw? If the ball's
- 57:09Speaker 3: hit to an outfielder, who's on base? Who's going to
- 57:10Speaker 3: have a chance to be thrown out? You had to
- 57:12Speaker 3: think about all this stuff. And it happens fast, really,
- 57:15Speaker 3: really fast. But you got to be able to do this.
- 57:17Speaker 3: And for me, I love Junior Caminero. I think he's
- 57:20Speaker 3: an unbelievable player. But he just wasn't prepared mentally for
- 57:24Speaker 3: that situation.
- 57:26Speaker 2: And then that's it.
- 57:27Speaker 1: I mean, you give a team enough advantages like that
- 57:29Speaker 1: and eventually they capitalize.
- 57:31Speaker 2: This team is way too damn good.
- 57:32Speaker 1: And we talked about it a lot on the postgame
- 57:34Speaker 1: show last night too, which is still a good one
- 57:36Speaker 1: if you want to check that out in between this
- 57:38Speaker 1: show and the World Series game four. So that's it

- 58:03Speaker 1: High Territory host and he's joining us next.
- 58:06Speaker 2: Hey, can I bring this up?
- 58:07Speaker 1: I know we only have a minute and then Spilly's
- 58:08Speaker 1: joining us when the TV crowd comes back. So Kira
- 58:11Speaker 1: in our chat said, why were tickets cheaper in Tampa
- 58:13Speaker 1: than Milwaukee? I think MLB should have the same ticket prices, blah, blah, blah,
- 58:16Speaker 1: going over all that and preventing fan-based takeovers. Okay, this
- 58:18Speaker 1: is actually a big thing that I, keep trying to emphasize.
- 58:21Speaker 1: First of all, the ticket price are close enough from
- 58:23Speaker 1: the teams. It's the secondary market that actually tells you
- 58:26Speaker 1: the true value of what the ticket is. It's the
- 58:29Speaker 1: same reason why people think that if you pay players
- 58:31Speaker 1: or anybody less, they're going to lower ticket prices. That's
- 58:33Speaker 1: never going to happen. It's called supply and demand. It's
- 58:36Speaker 1: called dynamic pricing. That's how the world works, right? This
- 58:39Speaker 1: isn't even MLB's fault. If you want MLB to make
- 58:41Speaker 1: every ticket $ 20, then for big games, people will just
- 58:44Speaker 1: buy them all up and sell them for 500 X, right?
- 58:46Speaker 2: So that's not a thing.
- 58:47Speaker 1: I just want to make sure that people understand how
- 58:50Speaker 1: ticketing works and this is the same thing for concerts
- 58:52Speaker 1: there's battles about that sometimes too right if you're taylor
- 58:54Speaker 1: swift and you make your tickets 100 bucks people buy
- 58:56Speaker 1: them up and they sell them for a million x
- 58:59Speaker 1: online like it's just how it works.
- 59:02Speaker 6: It's not like yeah like you pay when i went
- 59:05Speaker 6: to the world series we paid $ 250.
- 59:07Speaker 5: If you have an extra ticket, you can give it away.
- 59:09Speaker 6: You can give it away for $ 250 or you can
- 59:12Speaker 6: make some cash on it.
- 59:13Speaker 1: Yep. Take econ class. It's apply and demand. Hey, we
- 59:20Speaker 1: got Spilly joining us. Ryan Spilborgs. You can hear him
- 59:22Speaker 1: on Mile High territory. You can hear him basically everywhere.
- 59:25Speaker 1: Calling games, hosting shows, all over different platforms. But for
- 59:28Speaker 1: this particular platform, MLB International, they do a great job.
- 59:31Speaker 1: That's where you can catch the game basically anywhere outside
- 59:33Speaker 1: of the U.S. I've called games on there before. Spilly's
- 59:36Speaker 1: doing a great job. So how you doing, dude? And
- 59:38Speaker 1: what do you think of this series? This team looks
- 59:39Speaker 1: like they've got more juice than your Rockies team that
- 59:42Speaker 1: went on that crazy run back in the day.
- 59:45Speaker 8: Well, it's funny you say that because there's been times
- 59:48Speaker 8: where fans that saw our run we won 21 out
- 59:51Speaker 8: of 22 games we got hot uh with good players
- 59:55Speaker 8: and we pitched well our bullpens were great uh and
- 59:57Speaker 8: then we had this nine-day layoff which still goes down
- 1:00:00Speaker 8: as the longest layoff in baseball history and people were
- 1:00:02Speaker 8: trying to equate um you know the layoff is to
- 1:00:05Speaker 8: the reason why we lost in 07 i'm like dude
- 1:00:08Speaker 8: if you were to take the uh overall uh financial
- 1:00:12Speaker 8: structure or total payroll of the boston red sox in
- 1:00:15Speaker 8: 2007 and and i did this before as an experiment
- 1:00:18Speaker 8: i just added up everybody's career earnings that was a
- 1:00:21Speaker 8: two billion dollar team uh in comparison to the rockies
- 1:00:25Speaker 8: who you know at the end of the day it
- 1:00:26Speaker 8: was like 650 million dollar team so uh that red
- 1:00:30Speaker 8: sox team is going to crush us it might have
- 1:00:32Speaker 8: helped that we were a little bit better after you
- 1:00:34Speaker 8: know maybe a game one or two um but when
- 1:00:38Speaker 8: i'm watching this brewers group and just seeing the quality
- 1:00:42Speaker 8: of players and and i said this earlier when when
- 1:00:44Speaker 8: dodgers fans are getting really upset with me i'm like
- 1:00:46Speaker 8: the the Dodgers are going to go down to this
- 1:00:48Speaker 8: Brewers team. And they're like, what are you talking about?
- 1:00:50Speaker 8: We're the Dodgers. We're going to win three world series.
- 1:00:52Speaker 5: I was like, okay.
- 1:00:54Speaker 8: I just went to fan graphs and I looked at
- 1:00:57Speaker 8: the players with wins above replacement. And I said, here
- 1:01:00Speaker 8: was my threshold. It was 1.5 wins. That's it. 1.5 wins,
- 1:01:04Speaker 8: which is a good big league player. The Brewers had
- 1:01:08Speaker 8: 17 on their 26-man roster, and the Dodgers had 11. So,
- 1:01:13Speaker 8: I mean, like there's this idea that this Brewers team
- 1:01:16Speaker 8: is a bunch of average Joes, that they're not as
- 1:01:19Speaker 8: good as you think, that they just got hot. And
- 1:01:22Speaker 8: I'm like, no, they play baseball the right way with
- 1:01:25Speaker 8: really good players, really, really good players. And when it's
- 1:01:30Speaker 8: all said and done, I don't think this game goes
- 1:01:33Speaker 8: past four. I think we're going to see a sweep.
- 1:01:36Speaker 8: They have completely dismantled every team I've seen. I have done, God,
- 1:01:41Speaker 8: about 15 Brewers games this year. I've seen them lose once.
- 1:01:46Speaker 8: That's over the course of the year, including the postseason.
- 1:01:49Speaker 8: So this is the best team in baseball that's playing
- 1:01:52Speaker 8: like the best team in baseball.
- 1:01:54Speaker 3: Spilly, before I comment on what you just said, first
- 1:01:57Speaker 3: of all, I hate the rust versus rust thing. So–
- 1:02:01Speaker 3: The Brewers didn't have any problem. We didn't have any
- 1:02:02Speaker 3: problem in 2005, so stop it. Only the losers say that.
- 1:02:07Speaker 3: You're better than that, so stop. Which I didn't say it.
- 1:02:09Speaker 4: I didn't say it.
- 1:02:10Speaker 7: I know.
- 1:02:11Speaker 8: I didn't say it.
- 1:02:11Speaker 4: You just did, though. You said, oh, no, you're hot
- 1:02:13Speaker 4: in nine days off.
- 1:02:15Speaker 8: We could have maybe done a little bit better, but
- 1:02:17Speaker 8: we were going to get boat raced.
- 1:02:18Speaker 4: Okay, that's fair. I'll give you that. But I hate
- 1:02:21Speaker 4: that excuse. It drives me insane. So I'm glad you
- 1:02:24Speaker 4: said that. Thank you.
- 1:02:25Speaker 3: Now, as far as these two teams go, I agree
- 1:02:26Speaker 3: with you 100%. The Rays were the best team in
- 1:02:28Speaker 3: the American League. The Brewers were the best team in
- 1:02:31Speaker 3: a better league, which is the National League, and the
- 1:02:33Speaker 3: Rays have put up no opposition at all. The Dodgers
- 1:02:36Speaker 3: really didn't put up much. The only team that has
- 1:02:38Speaker 3: even had a chance against them has been the Padres,
- 1:02:41Speaker 3: and maybe that was because it was a shorter series.
- 1:02:43Speaker 3: But honestly, I don't know how the Brewers– listen, there's
- 1:02:46Speaker 3: no way the Rays win this series. I don't know
- 1:02:48Speaker 3: how the Rays can win one game. I keep saying this.
- 1:02:50Speaker 3: I saw you last night, and we kind of said
- 1:02:51Speaker 3: the same thing when we looked at each other. They're
- 1:02:53Speaker 3: just the best team in baseball, and they have the
- 1:02:56Speaker 3: supreme confidence that nobody can beat them I there's not
- 1:02:59Speaker 3: we've talked about this inside and out. I don't even
- 1:03:01Speaker 3: know what to say about the same work. So the
- 1:03:03Speaker 3: Brewers and Pat Murphy, you guys are really freaking good.
- 1:03:06Speaker 8: Yeah, well, and the funniest thing is this like secondary,
- 1:03:10Speaker 8: you know, question now about this Brewers team, which is
- 1:03:12Speaker 8: are they cheating? Okay, let's play this one out. All right.
- 1:03:15Speaker 8: So I heard this a couple of times. They're like,
- 1:03:18Speaker 8: they have to be cheating because they're like, there's no
- 1:03:20Speaker 8: way that they could be crushing everybody. I was like,
- 1:03:22Speaker 8: all right. So Sal Freelick was cheating when he went
- 1:03:24Speaker 8: to Boston College. Robert Gasser was cheating when he was
- 1:03:28Speaker 8: coming out of Houston. He was cheating us today. William Contreras,
- 1:03:32Speaker 8: who's been the second best catcher in baseball since 2023. Okay,
- 1:03:36Speaker 8: like where do you want to start? Where do you
- 1:03:39Speaker 8: see it? They're doing it on the road. They do
- 1:03:42Speaker 8: it at home. Do they do a good job of
- 1:03:45Speaker 8: getting the second base and relay signs? 100%. That happened
- 1:03:50Speaker 8: in Milwaukee against Mason Miller. He was tipping. Why are
- 1:03:53Speaker 8: they able to catch that? Well, they have more scouts
- 1:03:56Speaker 8: and coaches in front office than virtually anybody. They look
- 1:03:59Speaker 8: for this stuff.
- 1:04:00Speaker 5: And guess what?
- 1:04:01Speaker 8: The players look for it too. So when you're watching
- 1:04:04Speaker 8: a guy at second base, are they relaying location?
- 1:04:06Speaker 2: Yes.
- 1:04:07Speaker 8: Are they finding a grip if you're showing a change
- 1:04:09Speaker 8: of grip and relayed it?
- 1:04:11Speaker 5: Probably.
- 1:04:12Speaker 8: But as far as like thinking that the reason why
- 1:04:14Speaker 8: the Brewers are doing this is because they're nefarious or
- 1:04:18Speaker 8: they're doing some sort of black arts, dark arts? No,
- 1:04:22Speaker 8: that's not the case. So I'm with you, AJ. This
- 1:04:26Speaker 8: has been the best team in baseball from start To finish,
- 1:04:31Speaker 8: they just play the brand of baseball where they hold
- 1:04:33Speaker 8: each other super accountable. I mean, all you have to
- 1:04:37Speaker 8: do to just check out this game is Sal Frelick
- 1:04:39Speaker 8: in the ninth inning when he's making a diving play
- 1:04:43Speaker 8: and when he's rounding second base super hard on a
- 1:04:45Speaker 8: fly out when they're up 10 runs. That's how they play.
- 1:04:48Speaker 8: They're relentless. They're bullies.
- 1:04:50Speaker 5: They're good at baseball. That's it.
- 1:04:52Speaker 8: Fact.
- 1:04:54Speaker 6: Watching their hitting approach, do you feel like if another
- 1:04:57Speaker 6: organization took the exact players that they have now and
- 1:05:02Speaker 6: told them to do the exact same hitting approach, do
- 1:05:05Speaker 6: you feel like that organization, you can choose any team,
- 1:05:08Speaker 6: you can choose a really good team, a bad team,
- 1:05:10Speaker 6: could they execute the approach? Because to me, the approach
- 1:05:14Speaker 6: is what makes this team.
- 1:05:16Speaker 5: Really, really good.
- 1:05:17Speaker 8: Yeah, so I love this. This is great. Thank you
- 1:05:20Speaker 8: for bringing this one up, Kratzy, because I was doing
- 1:05:22Speaker 8: some of the swing metrics and looking at some of
- 1:05:24Speaker 8: the swing profiles of this team. They have always been
- 1:05:28Speaker 8: a group of players that have been drafted. They have
- 1:05:31Speaker 8: been pinpointed by Matt Arnold in the front office. I mean,
- 1:05:36Speaker 8: they're short, right? There's a bunch of short little contact hitters.
- 1:05:40Speaker 8: And then they naturally have this inside-out swing.
- 1:05:43Speaker 5: That's what they have.
- 1:05:44Speaker 8: They actually have this If you check out some of
- 1:05:47Speaker 8: the attack angles, they hit behind the baseball as a
- 1:05:50Speaker 8: unit better than any team in the game.
- 1:05:52Speaker 5: So can another team do this?
- 1:05:54Speaker 2: Sure.
- 1:05:55Speaker 8: You just got to draft or pick those type of players.
- 1:05:58Speaker 5: But we've seen this now.
- 1:05:59Speaker 8: And to get on my soapbox, part of the problem
- 1:06:03Speaker 8: that Major League Baseball has had with this increase in
- 1:06:06Speaker 8: swing and miss and power is that we're teaching that
- 1:06:10Speaker 8: at the youth level. That's what you do when you
- 1:06:11Speaker 8: go to a showcase. People want to see exit velo,
- 1:06:15Speaker 8: how far you can hit it, how hard you can throw. Well,
- 1:06:18Speaker 8: for the Brewers, they don't want to pay for homers.
- 1:06:20Speaker 8: Paying for homers is expensive, and it comes with chase,
- 1:06:24Speaker 8: and it comes with swing and miss. They saw an inefficiency.
- 1:06:27Speaker 8: They also realized shorter players have smaller strike zones, smaller
- 1:06:30Speaker 8: strike zones, and typically they hit the top of the
- 1:06:32Speaker 8: zone better. It's just that's what happens with shorter guys.
- 1:06:35Speaker 8: They're used to hitting the high rail fastball. So they've
- 1:06:38Speaker 8: looked for those guys and they've accumulated them. If you
- 1:06:42Speaker 8: even check out the minor league system of the Brewers,
- 1:06:44Speaker 8: they're filled with little guys that are contact athletes, multidimensional players.
- 1:06:49Speaker 8: That's what they look for. They found the inefficiency. They've
- 1:06:52Speaker 8: drafted it. They continue to do that. And if another
- 1:06:55Speaker 8: organization wants to do this, you can't just tell a big,
- 1:06:58Speaker 8: tall dude, hey, hit behind the baseball. It doesn't work.
- 1:07:02Speaker 8: Their levers don't work that way. So if you want
- 1:07:05Speaker 8: your organization to do what the Brewers are doing, you
- 1:07:07Speaker 8: got to draft, develop, trade for it. And I don't
- 1:07:11Speaker 8: think everybody knows what to look for.
- 1:07:12Speaker 6: 2014, the Royals, we fell short of the Giants in
- 1:07:18Speaker 6: Game 7, 15, won the World Series. In my opinion,
- 1:07:22Speaker 6: that 14 team changed how teams built their bullpen for
- 1:07:27Speaker 6: the postseason. And to this day, the Padres were built
- 1:07:30Speaker 6: that way. The Dodgers, not so much. The Dodgers were
- 1:07:34Speaker 6: their way. This Brewers team was built that way. Do
- 1:07:37Speaker 6: you think because of how these two teams got here,
- 1:07:40Speaker 6: position player-wise, it's kind of the same question that I
- 1:07:43Speaker 6: just asked you. Do we see a shift? Do we
- 1:07:47Speaker 6: see a shift from a Pirates team from a– well,
- 1:07:50Speaker 6: you can't do the A's because they have a really
- 1:07:52Speaker 6: freaking good lineup when they're not playing on concrete. Cardinals,
- 1:07:57Speaker 6: do you see a shift for those teams because of
- 1:08:01Speaker 6: how instrumental that's been for this run for both teams,
- 1:08:05Speaker 6: not just the Brewers?
- 1:08:07Speaker 8: Yeah, I mean, when you start highlighting the Brewers' bullpen,
- 1:08:11Speaker 8: and I think it was like last year, their entire
- 1:08:14Speaker 8: pen was built with guys that were either non-tendered or released.
- 1:08:18Speaker 8: I mean, there wasn't a dude that had a multi-year contract,
- 1:08:22Speaker 8: but what they found was different arms. Chris Hook and
- 1:08:26Speaker 8: Kyle Snyder, those are two of the best pitching coaches
- 1:08:28Speaker 8: in the game that kind of find what you do,
- 1:08:31Speaker 8: and then they encourage you to keep doing it. The
- 1:08:34Speaker 8: stronger your bullpen is, especially given the fact that starters
- 1:08:38Speaker 8: aren't going six, seven innings, you can shorten games up.
- 1:08:42Speaker 8: And then, you know, in the case of the Brewers specifically,
- 1:08:46Speaker 8: they have taken starters like an Aaron Ashby and made
- 1:08:50Speaker 8: him into this high leverage multi-inning reliever that is doing
- 1:08:54Speaker 8: something historic. He reminds me of Andrew Miller, the world
- 1:08:57Speaker 8: is Chapman. So you're, you're getting high quality arms that,
- 1:09:01Speaker 8: that are strike throwers. There's differences in, in every single
- 1:09:05Speaker 8: one of them. You have guys with high spin rates,
- 1:09:07Speaker 8: different arm slots, extension change up. So, yeah, I do
- 1:09:11Speaker 8: agree with you, Kratzy. I've always believed that the easiest
- 1:09:15Speaker 8: way you can fix a ball club is through the bullpen.
- 1:09:18Speaker 8: And what you need to do is find guys that
- 1:09:20Speaker 8: throw strikes, have a decent secondary pitch. But if you're
- 1:09:24Speaker 8: pounding the zone like this Brewers team has done, I mean,
- 1:09:28Speaker 8: they're not even giving up walks. They're trusting their defense.
- 1:09:32Speaker 8: They're pounding the strike zone. And that's making it work.
- 1:09:35Speaker 8: So you don't have to get seven innings from the Miz.
- 1:09:39Speaker 8: Last night was the longest start we saw this postseason
- 1:09:42Speaker 8: by the Brewers with Robert Gasser. And so it just
- 1:09:45Speaker 8: puts a team away. And you don't have to focus
- 1:09:48Speaker 8: in on a starter who, by the way, costs more
- 1:09:51Speaker 8: money as well.
- 1:09:53Speaker 5: Griffin Jacks tonight.
- 1:09:55Speaker 6: Do the raise because they need length out of their
- 1:09:58Speaker 6: starters because the Brewers have cracked the bullpen code. Does
- 1:10:02Speaker 6: Kevin Cash go longer with Griffin Jacks tonight than a
- 1:10:07Speaker 6: normal manager would go with the starting pitcher in an
- 1:10:11Speaker 6: elimination game?
- 1:10:12Speaker 8: No, I think today is just... I mean, they're going
- 1:10:16Speaker 8: to act like this is the last game of the
- 1:10:17Speaker 8: year because it is. I mean, you can't think about tomorrow.
- 1:10:20Speaker 8: There's nothing left to think about. And I actually think
- 1:10:23Speaker 8: that the Rays, you know, you guys were talking about
- 1:10:26Speaker 8: the lineup. The lineup construction yesterday was not good. I mean,
- 1:10:30Speaker 8: that was a very pitchable lineup. You're going to put
- 1:10:33Speaker 8: Liam Hicks. You're going to put Jonathan Aranda in the lineup.
- 1:10:35Speaker 8: You're going to use everybody. We haven't seen Brian Baker
- 1:10:38Speaker 8: throw an inning yet. Everybody's in play. Nick Martinez is
- 1:10:42Speaker 8: in play, even though he's supposed to be tomorrow's game
- 1:10:44Speaker 8: five starter. You're going to use, you're literally going to
- 1:10:48Speaker 8: use everybody. You use Drew Rasmussen if you have to.
- 1:10:51Speaker 8: The only way the Rays play one more game, as
- 1:10:54Speaker 8: much as we'll talk about like a path for the
- 1:10:56Speaker 8: pitching staff, they got a score. The bottom of the
- 1:11:00Speaker 8: lineup has been non-existent. So I, I, I, again, like
- 1:11:05Speaker 8: I don't see a path. I don't see a path
- 1:11:08Speaker 8: given how, how well the Brewers, are playing and it's
- 1:11:11Speaker 8: not a knock on the Rays, they're just getting outplayed.
- 1:11:14Speaker 8: The Brewers are on a historic run right now.
- 1:11:17Speaker 3: Spilly, I know we've talked heavy, heavy Brewers, but I
- 1:11:20Speaker 3: do want to ask a little bit about the Rays.
- 1:11:22Speaker 4: What happened?
- 1:11:23Speaker 3: Did the Brewers just punch them in the face and
- 1:11:24Speaker 3: they weren't able to recover? I mean, I know they've
- 1:11:27Speaker 3: done this to everybody, but the way the Brewers play
- 1:11:30Speaker 3: is the way the Rays have kind of played the
- 1:11:31Speaker 3: whole year. Their stars haven't hit, Caminero, Yandy haven't done much,
- 1:11:35Speaker 3: Aranda obviously gets benched, Liam Hicks at the home run.
- 1:11:39Speaker 3: but they haven't really hit at all. They haven't been
- 1:11:41Speaker 3: able to put the pressure on the Brewers. They've made
- 1:11:43Speaker 3: base running mistakes. They've made fielding mistakes. They've made pitching mistakes.
- 1:11:47Speaker 3: Is this just a case of the Rays have gotten
- 1:11:49Speaker 3: punched in the face and they just don't know how
- 1:11:51Speaker 3: to react?
- 1:11:53Speaker 8: There's probably some truth to that. I mean, the environment
- 1:11:55Speaker 8: in Milwaukee was super loud, hard to play. But, I mean,
- 1:11:59Speaker 8: these were– you know, Victor Mesa ran through a stop
- 1:12:03Speaker 8: sign and got thrown out at third with Yanni Diaz
- 1:12:05Speaker 8: at the plate. Like, that's not– that's not like a
- 1:12:09Speaker 8: coaching staff thing that's just players in this environment overreacting
- 1:12:13Speaker 8: and that happens i mean we've all gone felt the
- 1:12:15Speaker 8: the pressures and trying to do too much um the
- 1:12:18Speaker 8: other thing.
- 1:12:18Speaker 5: Is like you know this team that's supposed to be
- 1:12:21Speaker 5: such a good.
- 1:12:21Speaker 8: Defensive group i think they were second in defensive run
- 1:12:24Speaker 8: saves and you know taylor walls at shortstop is probably
- 1:12:27Speaker 8: going to win a gold glove this year um even
- 1:12:30Speaker 8: walls has not been great you know he's had A
- 1:12:32Speaker 8: couple plays were on the other side. Bryce Terang has
- 1:12:35Speaker 8: had just as difficult plays with hard hits in between hops,
- 1:12:39Speaker 8: and he's made them. Walls hasn't, and it's been that close.
- 1:12:43Speaker 8: I mean, it was on a razor's edge the first
- 1:12:45Speaker 8: two games, but it was poor execution, too many mistakes,
- 1:12:50Speaker 8: and I think part of it is pressure. And if
- 1:12:53Speaker 8: you think getting punched in the mouth by the Brewers,
- 1:12:55Speaker 8: which they've done to everybody, shocked the team, sure.
- 1:12:58Speaker 5: I mean, I'm not in that clubhouse.
- 1:13:00Speaker 8: I can't tell you what's going on in between the
- 1:13:02Speaker 8: ears of a player. But I will say the environment
- 1:13:05Speaker 8: in Milwaukee could rattle some people. Even seeing the fly
- 1:13:09Speaker 8: ball to Chandler Simpson. That was a catchable ball.
- 1:13:12Speaker 5: It falls.
- 1:13:13Speaker 8: It's just a bunch of mistakes, whether it's environment, pressure,
- 1:13:19Speaker 8: being on this big stage, trying to do too much
- 1:13:22Speaker 8: because you know the Brewers are better than you. It
- 1:13:23Speaker 8: has not been... a display of Tampa Bay Rays baseball.
- 1:13:26Speaker 8: Not the way I saw it during the regular season.
- 1:13:30Speaker 4: Spilly, one more for me.
- 1:13:31Speaker 5: MVP. Oh, this one's easy.
- 1:13:34Speaker 8: It's William Contreras. I know, like, Ashley's got a really
- 1:13:39Speaker 8: strong case. Jackson Turio has an amazing case. But nobody's
- 1:13:44Speaker 8: done more on both sides of the ball than William Contreras.
- 1:13:47Speaker 8: Think about how many ABS challenges he's got right.
- 1:13:49Speaker 5: I mean it.
- 1:13:50Speaker 8: I know John Smoltz hates it, which is kind of
- 1:13:53Speaker 8: fun because you can kind of see him like really
- 1:13:54Speaker 8: another challenge.
- 1:13:55Speaker 5: Like, do you have to do that?
- 1:13:56Speaker 4: Yes.
- 1:13:57Speaker 5: These numbers are ridiculous.
- 1:13:59Speaker 8: He's walking. Think about the guys he's thrown out on
- 1:14:02Speaker 8: the bases.
- 1:14:03Speaker 5: It's everything.
- 1:14:03Speaker 8: The blocks, the blocks for me have stood out because
- 1:14:06Speaker 8: you don't see it in.
- 1:14:07Speaker 7: A box score.
- 1:14:08Speaker 8: I mean, he had multiple blocks in game one, multiple
- 1:14:12Speaker 8: blocks in game two. He's getting hits, big hits. So
- 1:14:16Speaker 8: for me, this one is like unanimous in my opinion.
- 1:14:21Speaker 8: my visual of this Brewers team and the MVP, it
- 1:14:25Speaker 8: should be William Contreras.
- 1:14:28Speaker 2: Love that. I'm with you.
- 1:14:29Speaker 1: Yeah, Kratz, remember you brought that up last night on
- 1:14:31Speaker 1: the postgame show, the blocks. That's probably always the part
- 1:14:36Speaker 1: of the game for the catcher that doesn't get talked
- 1:14:38Speaker 1: about the most in a World Series game.
- 1:14:39Speaker 8: I got two goober catchers, you know, like I'm probably
- 1:14:42Speaker 8: placating to them, but I mean, it's a fact. The catcher,
- 1:14:46Speaker 8: have you ever seen a bad catcher on a World
- 1:14:49Speaker 8: Series team?
- 1:14:50Speaker 5: Have you ever seen it?
- 1:14:50Speaker 6: Thank you, bro.
- 1:14:52Speaker 5: I've said this for years.
- 1:14:53Speaker 4: Yes. One time, 2005.
- 1:14:58Speaker 5: He said bad, not ugly. He said bad.
- 1:15:03Speaker 2: That guy could rake.
- 1:15:04Speaker 3: By the way, Spilly, you must not watch his show
- 1:15:08Speaker 3: because Kratz and I have been banging on that drum
- 1:15:10Speaker 3: for a couple of days now on Monday when we
- 1:15:13Speaker 3: did the.
- 1:15:13Speaker 4: Show, uh, Yesterday.
- 1:15:15Speaker 3: Jeez, that was yesterday, wasn't it? I forget what day
- 1:15:17Speaker 3: it is. But yesterday, I said that. And Kratz and
- 1:15:20Speaker 3: I talked about it yesterday. All the blocks he had
- 1:15:23Speaker 3: in game two and McGill and Ashby and those guys
- 1:15:25Speaker 3: were in the game. Like, the things he's done, the
- 1:15:28Speaker 3: base runners he's thrown out, the hits he's gotten. It's
- 1:15:31Speaker 3: hard to find. I mean, Churio helped his cause last
- 1:15:33Speaker 3: night with the four hits. But, I mean, the big hits,
- 1:15:35Speaker 3: the way he's handled the pitching staff, the way he's
- 1:15:37Speaker 3: blocked the ball, the way he's thrown the ball, it
- 1:15:39Speaker 3: has to be contrarians.
- 1:15:40Speaker 4: I don't know who else it could be. Well, no.
- 1:15:42Speaker 1: I mean, some people are saying, you know, like Churio
- 1:15:45Speaker 1: and what he's done. But still, I'm with you guys.
- 1:15:47Speaker 2: Contreras.
- 1:15:47Speaker 1: And we've got to jump anyway. And Spilly's got to
- 1:15:49Speaker 1: do his thing. He's got the big game going tonight
- 1:15:51Speaker 1: with the call on MLB International. And then also Mile
- 1:15:54Speaker 1: High Territory is still flowing and will be flowing all
- 1:15:56Speaker 1: offseason long. So if you want your Rockies coverage, I
- 1:15:59Speaker 1: know Rockies fans probably are watching. If they are watching, crying, like,
- 1:16:02Speaker 1: why can't this be us? Well, Spilly can tell you
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: how this can eventually be you. Him and Troy Rank.
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: Subscribe to the show.
- 1:16:08Speaker 2: It's great news.
- 1:16:09Speaker 1: They have actually the latest episode is going to be
- 1:16:12Speaker 1: on Jack O'Dowd, a familiar name to Rockies fans. So
- 1:16:15Speaker 1: it's really good stuff, dude. Thanks for swinging by. Keep
- 1:16:17Speaker 1: up the great.
- 1:16:17Speaker 2: Calls on there. You know, I love MLB International. I
- 1:16:20Speaker 2: used to call some games on there too. So do
- 1:16:22Speaker 2: your thing. Enjoy the rest of the series.
- 1:16:24Speaker 8: Okay. Appreciate it. And I better see you today, AJ.
- 1:16:27Speaker 8: I want to see you.
- 1:16:28Speaker 4: I'll be there. I'll be on the field pregame. So
- 1:16:30Speaker 4: don't big league me.
- 1:16:35Speaker 5: That's a promise.
- 1:16:37Speaker 8: I walk by people and they're like, who the hell
- 1:16:39Speaker 8: is that guy?
- 1:16:41Speaker 1: Hey, if they don't know who you are at this point,
- 1:16:43Speaker 1: they're not watching or listening to ball.
- 1:16:44Speaker 2: You do enough things out there. They better know the name.
- 1:16:48Speaker 2: Good stuff, Spilly. Have fun out there, dude.
- 1:16:51Speaker 4: See ya.
- 1:16:52Speaker 1: Hall of Fame president Josh Rawich said his flight to
- 1:16:54Speaker 1: Tampa counted at least 40 people with Brewers gear on.
- 1:16:58Speaker 1: He said jerseys of Euchre, Churio, Yelich, Contreras, Yount, molitor
- 1:17:03Speaker 1: hats hoodies the woman in front of me watching league
- 1:17:06Speaker 1: of their own baseball is the best that's good that's
- 1:17:09Speaker 1: actually my favorite part on the back end too it's
- 1:17:12Speaker 1: like they're so hooked there's either replays to watch aj
- 1:17:16Speaker 1: or they're like all right i'll watch movies.
- 1:17:19Speaker 3: I saw i didn't see josh yesterday but i saw
- 1:17:20Speaker 3: shesta like his number one uh assistant i guess he
- 1:17:25Speaker 3: was he was the pr guy when i was at
- 1:17:26Speaker 3: the red sox one of the great guys of all
- 1:17:27Speaker 3: time and by the way he had a great idea
- 1:17:29Speaker 3: for us and and i hope i'm gonna say this
- 1:17:31Speaker 3: on the air scott so put you on the spot
- 1:17:33Speaker 3: and mark and everyone behind.
- 1:17:34Speaker 4: The uh.
- 1:17:36Speaker 3: Scenes uh he offered us the hall of fame during
- 1:17:39Speaker 3: the lockout he said hey if you guys want to
- 1:17:41Speaker 3: do stuff in the hall of fame we'll open it
- 1:17:42Speaker 3: up to you and we can do content from the
- 1:17:44Speaker 3: hall of fame so sign me up to go to
- 1:17:45Speaker 3: cooperstown guys.
- 1:17:47Speaker 1: That's cool i like that um yes i have heard
- 1:17:50Speaker 1: that there's there's actually a sponsor that's interested And that's
- 1:17:54Speaker 1: doing a little bit of a thing up there. So
- 1:17:56Speaker 1: maybe we will have some time to put that together.
- 1:17:58Speaker 1: I just want to make sure, AJ, that we had time,
- 1:18:00Speaker 1: you know?
- 1:18:00Speaker 2: I didn't know if the lockout was going to end.
- 1:18:02Speaker 4: I mean, all we're going to have, Scott, is time.
- 1:18:05Speaker 4: I don't know if we have enough time.
- 1:18:07Speaker 3: I'm going to get so sick of hearing CBA, CBA, CBA.
- 1:18:12Speaker 3: Home Depot.
- 1:18:15Speaker 8: CBA.
- 1:18:16Speaker 5: Oh, my God.
- 1:18:17Speaker 1: I got an ask from a non-baseball fan yesterday who said,
- 1:18:21Speaker 1: are you sure there's going to.
- 1:18:22Speaker 8: Be a lockout?
- 1:18:24Speaker 4: One billion trillion percent.
- 1:18:26Speaker 1: I think the question was phrased more as like, are
- 1:18:28Speaker 1: you sure it's going to be as crazy in terms
- 1:18:31Speaker 1: of missed time? Not like our, like some people look,
- 1:18:33Speaker 1: don't understand lockout, right? Lockout starts December 1st. Most people,
- 1:18:37Speaker 1: at least half the people don't care about that.
- 1:18:39Speaker 5: It's auto.
- 1:18:39Speaker 2: They're talking about.
- 1:18:42Speaker 4: Well, you know why it's auto lockout?
- 1:18:43Speaker 3: Because the last time they didn't lock the players out
- 1:18:46Speaker 3: and they let them play on an expired contract, the
- 1:18:48Speaker 3: players did the strikeout. in 94 and they lost the
- 1:18:52Speaker 3: World Series. So they have to lock them out in
- 1:18:54Speaker 3: order to get them to the bargaining table and get
- 1:18:56Speaker 3: something done.
- 1:18:57Speaker 4: Yes.
- 1:18:58Speaker 1: And to answer the question, yes, 100% to me, lockout
- 1:19:02Speaker 1: starts to mean, or at least for people that are
- 1:19:03Speaker 1: asking this way, Are they not going to have– are
- 1:19:06Speaker 1: they going to cancel at least some spring training games?
- 1:19:07Speaker 2: I'm like, absolutely. There will be plenty of cancellations on
- 1:19:10Speaker 2: spring training games.
- 1:19:11Speaker 3: From what I've heard from people, 60 games is the
- 1:19:13Speaker 3: magic number. They lose more than 60 games. It kicks
- 1:19:16Speaker 3: the TV deal into another year, which they don't want.
- 1:19:19Speaker 3: So 60 games is the magic number.
- 1:19:22Speaker 1: Evan Longoria, number retired by the Rays, throwing out the
- 1:19:25Speaker 1: ceremonial first pitch in game four.
- 1:19:27Speaker 2: Do you guys know who's doing the national anthem?
- 1:19:30Speaker 4: Carly Pierce did last night. I didn't know that.
- 1:19:32Speaker 2: This is a big name.
- 1:19:33Speaker 7: Ne-Yo.
- 1:19:36Speaker 4: Neo? Like from the Matrix?
- 1:19:40Speaker 2: No, the music artist, Neo. You know who Neo is.
- 1:19:45Speaker 4: Really? What does Neo sing?
- 1:19:48Speaker 3: No, he was a great in the Matrix. I loved
- 1:19:50Speaker 3: him in the Matrix. The second and third Matrix got
- 1:19:52Speaker 3: a little wonky, but the first.
- 1:19:53Speaker 4: One was awesome.
- 1:19:55Speaker 7: They were all great.
- 1:19:56Speaker 1: AJ, I would bet you that I could play at least,
- 1:20:00Speaker 1: I might even push it to like seven or eight
- 1:20:02Speaker 1: Neo songs that you would know.
- 1:20:04Speaker 4: All right, sing one. Clouds?
- 1:20:06Speaker 7: So sick.
- 1:20:07Speaker 2: I really have trouble singing.
- 1:20:10Speaker 5: Closer?
- 1:20:13Speaker 2: I don't... Oh, Closer?
- 1:20:15Speaker 4: Oh, I know that one.
- 1:20:17Speaker 5: There you go.
- 1:20:17Speaker 4: I know that. I can't sing that one because that's
- 1:20:19Speaker 4: got some bad words in it, but I've heard that one.
- 1:20:21Speaker 4: Is that Neo?
- 1:20:21Speaker 3: So Neo, how is he going to sing that? Is
- 1:20:24Speaker 3: he going to have someone backing up on him? He's
- 1:20:26Speaker 3: going to be like.
- 1:20:28Speaker 2: No, he's singing the anthems.
- 1:20:30Speaker 4: Oh, sorry. I thought this was a family-friendly show here, Scott.
- 1:20:33Speaker 7: It still is.
- 1:20:34Speaker 2: It still is.
- 1:20:35Speaker 6: This isn't last year where they had the Jonas Brothers,
- 1:20:38Speaker 6: where the Jonas Brothers just randomly had a concert.
- 1:20:42Speaker 3: In the middle of the fifth inning, let's just throw
- 1:20:43Speaker 3: to the Jonas Brothers.
- 1:20:45Speaker 2: Yeah, they decided that was not received well.
- 1:20:49Speaker 5: What?
- 1:20:49Speaker 3: How come we couldn't get Ice Cube to come out
- 1:20:51Speaker 3: and sing? Was that two years ago? Yeah, two years
- 1:20:54Speaker 3: ago when they had Fat Joe and Ice Cube. Couldn't
- 1:20:56Speaker 3: they come up with a singer from– tampa and there's
- 1:21:00Speaker 3: got to be a singer from florida milwaukee no.
- 1:21:04Speaker 1: I'm assuming neo is from down there too if he's
- 1:21:07Speaker 1: doing the anthem no or you think he's just coming
- 1:21:09Speaker 1: in hot.
- 1:21:10Speaker 2: But yeah it's florida that would fit there's a there's.
- 1:21:13Speaker 1: A few uh is it swiss beats one of the
- 1:21:15Speaker 1: there's multiple hold on can we just go are we
- 1:21:18Speaker 1: on are we on air are we in commercial i
- 1:21:20Speaker 1: lose track.
- 1:21:21Speaker 3: Sometimes we're in commercial okay did we see Did James
- 1:21:25Speaker 3: Shields do that on purpose last night? First of all,
- 1:21:27Speaker 3: James Shields, happy new teeth. You and Dave Ortiz are
- 1:21:29Speaker 3: in the same dentist. But second of all, did he
- 1:21:31Speaker 3: go to the same– was that a joke? That throw
- 1:21:36Speaker 3: was not a joke? Because we watched it live, and
- 1:21:38Speaker 3: I'm going, that had to be a joke, right?
- 1:21:40Speaker 1: I mean, he missed by 30 feet.
- 1:21:42Speaker 7: I don't know.
- 1:21:43Speaker 6: He used all his pitches up. I think everybody's arm
- 1:21:47Speaker 6: has a certain number of pitches, and Wago G didn't
- 1:21:51Speaker 6: have any left. But I got a present for you
- 1:21:53Speaker 6: guys in slap hands.
- 1:22:10Speaker 1: I've been tweeting a little bit more frequently as I
- 1:22:13Speaker 1: just had a kid, so I don't really sleep anymore.
- 1:22:15Speaker 1: So last night I put this one out there and
- 1:22:17Speaker 1: I felt like you guys would appreciate this and actually
- 1:22:19Speaker 1: did well. It's well over 100,000 views right now. Turns
- 1:22:22Speaker 1: out the NLCS wasn't the World Series. It was actually
- 1:22:25Speaker 1: the NLDS. I'm not even really kidding. I think the
- 1:22:29Speaker 1: Padres were the second best team that I saw, not
- 1:22:32Speaker 1: just in the playoffs, but going into the playoffs.
- 1:22:34Speaker 2: I just thought that they had the best shot to
- 1:22:36Speaker 2: beat the Brewers.
- 1:22:38Speaker 1: Even if this was a five or seven game series,
- 1:22:40Speaker 1: I think the Padres would have given the Brewers the
- 1:22:42Speaker 1: best run. The Dodgers had swept, so that was nothing.
- 1:22:46Speaker 1: They're the only team that won a game against them,
- 1:22:48Speaker 1: so you can't dispute it that much.
- 1:22:49Speaker 3: No team can go through the postseason and only lose
- 1:22:51Speaker 3: one game, Scott. Oh, wait, the 2005 White Sox did that. What?
- 1:22:56Speaker 3: And no one even remembers. So no one will remember
- 1:22:59Speaker 3: the Brewers soon, too, if they win tonight. ESPN will
- 1:23:02Speaker 3: just pretend like it never happened. They'll just say that
- 1:23:04Speaker 3: the Astros won the World Series and that team never existed.
- 1:23:07Speaker 3: So wire to wire, 11-1 in the postseason, no big deal.
- 1:23:12Speaker 2: Very impressive. Very impressive.
- 1:23:14Speaker 3: Yep.
- 1:23:14Speaker 5: They're bad.
- 1:23:15Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:23:16Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:23:17Speaker 6: I don't– I think going into the Dodgers series, we
- 1:23:19Speaker 6: thought the Dodgers starting pitching would have given the Brewers
- 1:23:22Speaker 6: a little bit more of a run for the money. Like,
- 1:23:25Speaker 6: I think the Dodgers were better than the Padres. So,
- 1:23:28Speaker 6: Padre fans, you can come at me on that one
- 1:23:31Speaker 6: since you haven't been coming at me very much on
- 1:23:33Speaker 6: Twitter lately.
- 1:23:34Speaker 2: Hey, I want everyone to go to Brewer Territory.
- 1:23:38Speaker 1: They've been putting shows up left and right. If you're
- 1:23:40Speaker 1: a Brewers fan, please subscribe to the channel. Corey Knabel
- 1:23:43Speaker 1: and J.P. Fireeisen have been doing postgame shows. Kurt Hogan–
- 1:23:46Speaker 1: Shows with them as well.
- 1:23:46Speaker 2: He's at the ballpark.
- 1:23:47Speaker 1: He covers the team as a beat writer. It's a
- 1:23:49Speaker 1: great show. Those guys are doing an awesome job, so
- 1:23:51Speaker 1: give them some love. Can we finish with Bernie?
- 1:23:53Speaker 2: There we go. This tweet from Alex Stumpf.
- 1:23:57Speaker 1: I don't remember who he covers now, Alex, but he
- 1:23:59Speaker 1: posted this little screenshot of the Fox and Fox One coverage.
- 1:24:04Speaker 1: A grown man dressed as Bernie the Brewer fighting back
- 1:24:07Speaker 1: tears in enemy territory. I love this stupid, beautiful game.
- 1:24:11Speaker 1: I could not agree more. Bernie the Brewer in tears, AJ.
- 1:24:15Speaker 1: It's actually what you'd expect if it was a fair test.
- 1:24:18Speaker 3: And by the way, you missed it. A Brewers fan
- 1:24:19Speaker 3: came up to me and goes, why do you love
- 1:24:21Speaker 3: the Padres so much? I'm like, dude, let it go.
- 1:24:22Speaker 3: I picked the Brewers to win the World Series.
- 1:24:24Speaker 5: No.
- 1:24:25Speaker 4: Not a true story. He was intoxicated. Clearly.
- 1:24:31Speaker 3: He just wanted to say something and that was what
- 1:24:33Speaker 3: he went with. Like you see someone and you want
- 1:24:35Speaker 3: to say, most of the Brewers fans have been incredibly nice.
- 1:24:38Speaker 3: There's one guy, you know, you get your one shot
- 1:24:39Speaker 3: to say something to somebody. That's not what you say.
- 1:24:44Speaker 2: You've got to have a wisecrack reply.
- 1:24:46Speaker 4: Though, for those guys. Yeah, just call them a dumbass.
- 1:24:50Speaker 2: That gets the job done.
- 1:24:52Speaker 4: I go, hey, I picked them to win the World Series,
- 1:24:54Speaker 4: you dumbass.
- 1:24:57Speaker 5: I like that.
- 1:24:58Speaker 2: I wish you'd say that on TV.
- 1:24:59Speaker 1: All right, the Hot Sheet on the Baseball America YouTube
- 1:25:02Speaker 1: channel is live.
- 1:25:04Speaker 2: Right now, actually.
- 1:25:05Speaker 1: So flip over there and have some fun. Get ready
- 1:25:07Speaker 1: for game four. If you're inside the BetMGM app, a
