Latest / Worldview Matters With David Fiorazo / Jay Seegert: Ignoring The Historical Significance Of Jesus At Christmas
Transcript
- 0:00Welcome to World View Matters, discussing controversial issues, discerning current events,
- 0:10defending biblical Christianity.
- 0:13No topic, off limits.
- 0:16And now, here's your host, David Fierazzo.
- 0:20Hello friends, Mary, Christmas season, we're getting closer and closer and today on
- 0:26World View Matters, that's the topic.
- 0:29Christmas.
- 0:30Actually, I jotted down some notes, I've got Jake Seagirt coming in in a minute, and it's
- 0:35really interesting how we have sometimes conformed to the world when it comes to the Christmas
- 0:42holiday.
- 0:43We celebrate Christmas, we are all involved with the festivities and the plans and all the
- 0:48traditions, and we don't talk as much about Jesus and why we're celebrating.
- 0:53So that's what we're going to talk about today.
- 0:54I want to mention very briefly, my new book, Assault on the Image of God, it's available
- 0:59on Amazon, of course, the e-book is there on Amazon.
- 1:03I will just be honest, and the cheapest, not cheapest, but the best price you can get
- 1:08on it right now is through Jan Markelle's Olive Tree Ministries, and you can get it at
- 1:13OliveTreeViews.org in Jan Markelle's store, I'm just telling you, if you want to save
- 1:19a few dollars, otherwise, of course, you can get it on Amazon and you get it quickly.
- 1:24Okay, so let's talk Christmas with Jay Seagirt, and Jay Seagirt, of course, founder of the
- 1:29Starting Point Project, and I'd mention my book, he's got a book called Creation to Christ,
- 1:36I'd encourage you to check that one out, also for a Christmas gift, and Jay, I'm just
- 1:41so thankful to have you back on World View Matters, good morning or good afternoon, brother.
- 1:45It's always an honor to be on the program, I love working with you, you do great work,
- 1:49people need to hear everything you share, so I'm an honor, honor person to be here with
- 1:54you.
- 1:55Well, praise God, Jay, I'm just thankful all these years that we've connected, and we've
- 1:58been able to just talk about things that are important when it comes to the biblical
- 2:02world view.
- 2:03And today is an interesting one, because your specialty, of course, is creation, you're
- 2:09an engineer, I mean, that's your background, but you've been talking about this Genesis
- 2:13one through 11, and you do Grand Canyon trips, and you try to educate believers on the truth
- 2:19of creation.
- 2:20But we're talking about Christ today, which, you know, when you talk about creation, he
- 2:24is the Creator.
- 2:27And so open up this conversation relating to Christmas with Jesus, being God and the
- 2:33Creator, and we'll just walk through these steps, reminding believers of what we're
- 2:37celebrating.
- 2:39Sure, it's obviously very important with Christmas, Christmas coming up, and I go with
- 2:44my background in physics and engineering, it was really into the creation, evolution,
- 2:49controversy.
- 2:50And I still talk about that a lot, however, the bigger picture is the bigger picture,
- 2:55the authority of God's words, true cover to cover, and not only discusses the beginning,
- 3:00but it talks about stuff that's going on in the middle, and then there's an end as well.
- 3:04And then the middle stuff includes the arrival of Jesus Christ, and so we're celebrating
- 3:08Christmas, you know, coming up very soon here.
- 3:11And what's interesting is, you know, we want to witness in general throughout the year.
- 3:17We've got Christmas coming up, which is all about Jesus Christ.
- 3:20It, you know, Christmas is associated with the fruit cake, I'd like to say it should
- 3:25be associated with low hanging fruit cake, meaning the whole world is thinking about Christmas,
- 3:32independent of their religious background.
- 3:33They all kind of celebrate it one way or the other, but the central focus is the birth
- 3:39of Jesus Christ.
- 3:40So there shouldn't be any easier time throughout the entire year than Christmas to talk about
- 3:45Jesus Christ.
- 3:46Certainly Easter would be good too, but Christmas, everyone's, you know, happy and excited
- 3:51and celebrating it to one extent or another.
- 3:54So we should be able to jump on that bandwagon and talk to them.
- 3:59But the challenging thing is, you can be just about anywhere, and there's an elephant
- 4:04in the living room, meaning, you know, and if people aren't familiar with that phrase,
- 4:08you're sitting around someone's living room, everyone's talking to have a good time,
- 4:10and you're noticing this mass of elephant sitting in the middle of living room, but no one's
- 4:15talking about it.
- 4:16No one's mentioning it.
- 4:17They're acting like it's not there.
- 4:18And you're like, hello, anyone's seeing what I'm seeing this elephant here.
- 4:22So with Christmas, it's all about Jesus Christ, but literally almost no one's talking
- 4:27about Jesus.
- 4:28It's all about getting presents and decorating and having family over and being happy, but
- 4:33we've kind of missed the central focus.
- 4:35So we're going to be discussing today, how do we in a very unique way witness without
- 4:41it being too preachy?
- 4:43So that's what we're going to be headed into.
- 4:45Yeah.
- 4:46And the historical significance of Jesus, I mean, out of all the like world figures, influential
- 4:51men in the world, I mean, Jesus is very rarely mentioned in this group.
- 4:58It's really amazing.
- 4:59So we're going to talk about that before we get on with the topic, though, Jay, I skipped
- 5:02right over.
- 5:03You have a new podcast, the starting point podcast, would you please explain that and where
- 5:08people can listen?
- 5:09A long story short earlier this year, some approach, we said, you need to do a podcast.
- 5:15I said, I have absolutely no time, so now I'm doing a podcast comes out every Friday.
- 5:20We produce about maybe 45 or 48 or whatever so far.
- 5:25They're free, starting point podcast, Apple podcast, Spotify, and I just really go through
- 5:33and defend the Christian worldview in a very, very rational, extremely gracious way.
- 5:38So that's available.
- 5:40There's tons of information about the existence in origin of the universe, existence of
- 5:43God, inspiration of the Bible, creation of illusion controversy.
- 5:47So avail yourself of those free resources when you get a chance.
- 5:52Great.
- 5:53And it's the starting point project dot com.
- 5:56That's the website.
- 5:57So check out Jay's podcast.
- 5:59So all right, Jay, Jesus, who was he in history?
- 6:03We know obviously Bible, believe in Christians, understand that, but we do have some younger
- 6:08viewers.
- 6:09I mean, not necessarily younger in age, but younger, maybe in the faith and this would be very
- 6:14beneficial for them, because we're going to have, hopefully, conversations about Jesus
- 6:18Christ through this Christmas season with maybe relatives or friends.
- 6:23Sure.
- 6:24I was asked actually to a group, a certain business group of Christian leaders.
- 6:29And they wanted me to do something related to Christmas.
- 6:31And so I started thinking about this and I thought, how could they evangelize either
- 6:36within their businesses or families or friends and neighbors?
- 6:40But do it in a way that they don't get shut down right away.
- 6:43Because if you typically just say, well, you know, Christmas is all about Jesus and you
- 6:46need to place your trust in Jesus Christ as your Savior and all that.
- 6:49A lot of people just instantly shut you down, been there done it.
- 6:52We know that's about, you know, leave your religion at home, don't push it on me.
- 6:57So is there any way to still have a conversation that they don't shut you down so quickly?
- 7:02So I just started thinking, who in history changed the world more than Jesus?
- 7:08I mean, independent of your religious beliefs, whether you're an atheist, a Muslim,
- 7:12Mormon, Buddhist, whatever, Jesus Christ lived and he changed history more than anyone else.
- 7:18He actually existed.
- 7:20And so the curiosity is, how come we're not talking about him more?
- 7:25And can you think of any like other event in history, like the Spanish Inquisition or the Holocaust?
- 7:33Those things certainly have religious components to them.
- 7:36Do we not talk about them because you can go down that trail?
- 7:39No, it's something that happened and it was very significant.
- 7:42Well, Christmas is the arrival of Jesus Christ, a man who changed the world more than anyone else.
- 7:48It's a historical event.
- 7:49So why do we get shut down just because there are religious elements?
- 7:54And you could take it a step further and say,
- 7:57also who else in history, whether it's Einstein or Buddha or whomever,
- 8:03do we just, you know, Napoleon?
- 8:04Do we just mention their birthday and get excited and never talk about like who they were?
- 8:09What they did? Why were they significant?
- 8:11You just say, oh, it's their birthday.
- 8:12It's so exciting and then you move on.
- 8:14But that's what we do with Jesus.
- 8:15Oh, it's his birthday.
- 8:16Let's buy gifts and things, but don't talk about who he was and what he did.
- 8:21It's strange.
- 8:23Well, I think, well, obviously Jesus changed the world.
- 8:28I mean, he created the world because he is the creator.
- 8:31And he changed the world.
- 8:33I think here, Jay, what do you think about this?
- 8:35Do you think one of the reasons is a lot of people don't believe in the virgin birth,
- 8:41but yet they might admit that Jesus was actually physically born in the flesh.
- 8:48He became flesh.
- 8:49We believe the word God became flesh.
- 8:51And they don't believe that.
- 8:53So they hesitate to talk about the fact that he was born and that we're celebrating
- 8:58Christmas being the birth of Christ is birthday.
- 9:02Sure. Well, ultimately we're dealing with the spiritual issue.
- 9:04It's not just an academic thing with you throw facts at them and they say,
- 9:07oh, I didn't know that, you know, let me go to church and worship Jesus.
- 9:11They in their heart because of their sinful nature, which we all have,
- 9:14they don't really want that to be true.
- 9:16It's very convicting.
- 9:17So I'll go through all things.
- 9:18Why don't believe in the virgin birth?
- 9:19I mean, that couldn't happen.
- 9:20Like, wait a minute, we're talking about God here.
- 9:23As soon as you say God exists, you can never, ever after that say certain things are impossible.
- 9:28Because God is all powerful.
- 9:30So he could create the universe out of nothing.
- 9:32And there could be a virgin birth.
- 9:34So that's not really the issue.
- 9:35So you ask people, there was a guy 2000 years ago who showed up here,
- 9:39who changed the world more than anyone else.
- 9:42And it led to us having the hospitals we have today.
- 9:45And the university is where I think 120 were started by Christians and all that.
- 9:50We could go through all that.
- 9:52That's a fact of history.
- 9:53So you can ask this person, this person Jesus, who was here?
- 9:58What do you think of him?
- 9:58Who was he then?
- 10:00And many people will say, why?
- 10:01You know, I think it was a really good moral teacher.
- 10:04You know, that's a simple thing to say very vague in general.
- 10:07And you can agree with.
- 10:08He had some wise things to say, but you know what?
- 10:10Jesus didn't give us that option, not at all.
- 10:14Because he claimed to be the son of God.
- 10:17He claimed to be the only way to God.
- 10:19He claimed to be God himself.
- 10:21And he could go through all those verses.
- 10:24So here's a guy who actually claimed to be God.
- 10:27If he knew, he wasn't God, but he made those claims.
- 10:32And he's a liar.
- 10:32Well, if he's a liar, he's not a good moral teacher.
- 10:35You can call him moral, but maybe he wasn't lying.
- 10:38He just thought he was God.
- 10:40It was kind of deluded.
- 10:41Well, then he's a lunatic.
- 10:43Some of them thinks they're God, but they're not.
- 10:45That's lunacy.
- 10:46So he's either a liar or a lunatic.
- 10:49The only third option is he actually was what he claimed to be.
- 10:53You know, which would make him Lord.
- 10:55So is he a liar, a lunatic or Lord?
- 10:58And the person you're talking to, you're not having a religious discussion.
- 11:01You're talking about a historical figure.
- 11:03What do you think about the historical figure?
- 11:04You've got to choose one of those three.
- 11:06And which one are you going to choose and defend?
- 11:09So you're just talking about something historically
- 11:11not really getting into the religious nature yet.
- 11:14No, you can get to that, but you start out with a casual conversation.
- 11:17What do you think about this historical figure?
- 11:19I love the point you made early on in that.
- 11:22If most people believe that there is a God,
- 11:25let's just say most people believe at least that in divinity.
- 11:29And there's a God, then nothing would be impossible.
- 11:32If there is a God, nothing is impossible.
- 11:35So then you put the virgin birth there.
- 11:37I love the fact also, Jay, our Christmas songs.
- 11:40We tend to avoid some of the verses.
- 11:42They go really deep, theologically.
- 11:44I think of one, I think, uh, Hark the Herald Angels sing.
- 11:47There's a verse in there that says,
- 11:48born that man no more may die.
- 11:52So Jesus was born that we can have new birth,
- 11:57that we can be born again and be spiritually safe forever,
- 12:00that we will live with him.
- 12:02That's just an amazing hope that we have an amazing truth.
- 12:05And there's so many Christmas songs that are rich
- 12:08in theological truths, but you hear, you know,
- 12:11whether it's at, you know, the schools,
- 12:13I don't think they sing Christmas songs anymore at schools.
- 12:15I think they're winter celebrations or whatever they are.
- 12:18Winter break songs.
- 12:20Winter festival, that's what they have.
- 12:22But there are some songs that even in our own churches,
- 12:25I don't think we sing enough of the ones
- 12:27that are really meaningful.
- 12:28Anyway, we do have to take a break.
- 12:30I kind of lost track of time there.
- 12:31We got to thank Harbinger's Daily.
- 12:33We are so thankful for them for supporting the show.
- 12:36We'll be right back with Jay Seagard of the starting point project.
- 12:40Today's show is brought to you by Harbinger's Daily.

- 13:07Rhonda, also Jean from Manitouac, Wisconsin.
- 13:12Stefan from Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
- 13:15So we've got, let me go down the states here.
- 13:18Is your state represented here?

- 13:46or is able to give $25 a month.
- 13:50And that's just what we're doing
- 13:52between now and Christmas raising production costs
- 13:55for World View Matters.
- 13:57And thank you, by the way,
- 13:58for sharing the show on social media.
- 13:59It's growing in our audiences as well.
- 14:02God bless you guys.
- 14:03So Jay, back to this thought.
- 14:05If you wanted to comment at all
- 14:07about the Christmas songs and how some of them
- 14:10are really, really meaningful,
- 14:14theologically and very accurate and very encouraging.
- 14:17But I think where we don't hear those enough,
- 14:19especially on the radio,
- 14:20they tend to sing about Santa and jingle bells
- 14:24and whatever else.
- 14:25So just your thoughts briefly on that
- 14:27and anything else you want to add.
- 14:29I mean, the songs are certainly fun.
- 14:31You know, the ones that aren't maybe
- 14:33doctrinally sound or have no doctrine.
- 14:35Again, they're fun.
- 14:36They're associated with Christmas.
- 14:37I don't think it's wrong listening to them.
- 14:40But yeah, the ones that do get very specific
- 14:42about who Jesus really is,
- 14:45he came to die for our sins and he is God incarnate.
- 14:49Those are very important.
- 14:50And we need to sing more of them in church.
- 14:53But also just in general,
- 14:55a lot of people just sing them without even thinking
- 14:57about the words, which probably happens in church.
- 15:00And a lot of churches don't sing the older hymns.
- 15:02And I kind of get that.
- 15:04I actually really like the hymns.
- 15:06I grew up with them.
- 15:06And there's so much doctrine in them.
- 15:09I enjoy singing them or some of the,
- 15:11some of the modern music just kind of lacks
- 15:14any deep knowledge or meaning in them.
- 15:16But yeah, the Christmas songs,
- 15:17there's there's a lot of gospel message
- 15:19in the Christmas songs we could use
- 15:21that in witnessing as well.
- 15:23But a lot of this comes down to
- 15:25all these claims of Christmas that it's
- 15:28Jesus who was born, he's the Messiah.
- 15:31He made the claim.
- 15:32Definitely, it's historically documented
- 15:34that he made the claim.
- 15:35The question would be, is it true?
- 15:38How do we know?
- 15:38And you could get into that conversation with people as well.
- 15:41Is there evidence that this guy,
- 15:44Jesus who changed the world through
- 15:45thousand years ago,
- 15:46is there evidence that he actually is
- 15:48who he claimed to be,
- 15:49which is this Messiah that was prophesied
- 15:51in the Old Testament because
- 15:53the whole Bible is about God created everything.
- 15:55We messed it up.
- 15:56He was going to fix it by sending his son, the Messiah.
- 15:59And even Jews have been awaiting the Messiah.
- 16:01And Christians were awaiting the Messiah.
- 16:03We believe he came two thousand years ago.
- 16:05Is there any evidence that Jesus is that Messiah?
- 16:09And there's so much that we could discuss
- 16:11if you want to go that route.
- 16:13Sure, absolutely.
- 16:14I mean, that's why I brought you on.
- 16:15You have a lot that you can share about this.
- 16:17I mean, think you've been preparing some talks
- 16:19on this very topic.
- 16:20I'm looking at Luke chapter two right now.
- 16:22And I'm thinking, for example,
- 16:24what was it, Simeon when he was in Jerusalem
- 16:28and responded, he took the baby Jesus
- 16:31in his arms and said,
- 16:32now Lord, you are letting your bond servant
- 16:34depart in peace according to your word.
- 16:36For my eyes have seen your salvation,
- 16:40which you have prepared in the presence of all the peoples,
- 16:43a light for revelation for the Gentiles
- 16:46and the glory of your people Israel.
- 16:48And then Luke chapter two,
- 16:50I encourage you guys to read that,
- 16:51especially the second half.
- 16:52And then of course, we know the famous
- 16:54verses we talk about every Christmas.
- 16:56You know, Jesus being the wonderful counselor.
- 16:59You know, mighty God, Prince of Peace,
- 17:00but there's a verse in there that the government
- 17:02will rest on his shoulders.
- 17:04So that's future tense.
- 17:06So share whatever you'd like about.
- 17:08And you also wanted to mention
- 17:10we're moving beyond now, Jay,
- 17:12the birth of Christ and the word became flesh.
- 17:15Now we're moving about his life
- 17:16when he entered Jerusalem.
- 17:17That was very purposeful
- 17:19and that was timed out in biblical prophecy.
- 17:23So share whatever you'd like about these things.
- 17:25There's, you know, 50 million things
- 17:27we could share with our time.
- 17:29We'll just focus on one or two,
- 17:30depending on how much time we have.
- 17:32So the entire Old Testament is prophesying
- 17:35that the Messiah is coming.
- 17:36The guy who's going to say the world,
- 17:37he's coming.
- 17:38So they kept waiting waiting.
- 17:39All these prophecies,
- 17:41how do we know?
- 17:42Look, Roman says that at the right time
- 17:46Christ came and died for us.
- 17:47At the right time was God's timing.
- 17:49So 2000 years ago,
- 17:50there were a lot of reasons
- 17:51which we don't have time to go into
- 17:52what is perfect for Christ to arrive.
- 17:54And Romans had built the road
- 17:56so he could get around,
- 17:57get the message out.
- 17:57So many good things going on
- 17:59for Christ's arrival
- 18:00to get that gospel message out.
- 18:02So what's really interesting
- 18:04about the arrival of Christ
- 18:06and this birth
- 18:06which we are celebrating Christmas
- 18:09in Daniel,
- 18:09the Old Testament.
- 18:11There's prophecy in Daniel.
- 18:12And chapter nine actually has a prophecy
- 18:15that can give you the timing
- 18:16of the arrival of the Messiah.
- 18:18And we don't have time to flush out
- 18:20all of my new details,
- 18:21but there's this 70-week prophecy
- 18:23of Daniel in chapter nine
- 18:26and the very short version of this
- 18:29is it's broken up into, you know,
- 18:32seven years and 62 years
- 18:33and then the 70th year basically
- 18:37it's prophesying
- 18:38when the Messiah would arrive
- 18:40and be cut off.
- 18:42And there are 69 weeks there
- 18:44and in prophecy the weeks
- 18:45or weeks of years.
- 18:46And so when you do all the numbers
- 18:48it's fascinating
- 18:50from the time that that was given.
- 18:51There was a seven-year period
- 18:53until the temple
- 18:54or the Jerusalem would be rebuilt
- 18:56and then there's another 434 years
- 18:58until when the Messiah would be cut off.
- 19:00So he arrives and he gets cut off.
- 19:02He's crucified.
- 19:03When you go through that,
- 19:04when you see artiserxes
- 19:06giving this decree
- 19:08to rebuild Jerusalem,
- 19:10it says from that time
- 19:12there are this many years
- 19:14slotted until the Messiah is
- 19:16here and gets cut off.
- 19:17Again, you do the math
- 19:18with the total number of years
- 19:20and 360 days year
- 19:22which the Jews had
- 19:23they had 360 days in their year.
- 19:24You do the math
- 19:25and you arrive basically
- 19:27at the day that Jesus
- 19:29arrived in Jerusalem
- 19:30on the donkey.
- 19:32First time in his ministry
- 19:34publicly accepting
- 19:36the acknowledgement
- 19:36that he is the true Messiah.
- 19:38So you publicly
- 19:40let them acknowledge him
- 19:41that way,
- 19:42wrote into Jerusalem
- 19:43and was later crucified.
- 19:45Well, that's an amazing
- 19:46prophecy over 500 years earlier
- 19:49that the Messiah is coming
- 19:50even said, when?
- 19:51Yes.
- 19:52If you don't think Jesus
- 19:53was at Messiah,
- 19:54what scripture
- 19:55pointing to who else
- 19:56anywhere near that time
- 19:57in history fulfills
- 19:59all those prophecies
- 20:01and I'll end this portion
- 20:02with this.
- 20:04What are the chances
- 20:05that Jesus shows up?
- 20:06He's a guy
- 20:07claims to be that Messiah
- 20:08that was foretold
- 20:09but he's not really the Messiah.
- 20:11He just
- 20:12coincidentally fulfilled
- 20:13the prophecies
- 20:14that were listed in the Old Testament.
- 20:16We can take a look
- 20:18at that Jesus fulfilled
- 20:19at least 300 prophecies.
- 20:22Okay, what are the chances?
- 20:23He's not the Messiah.
- 20:24It's just
- 20:25coincidence.
- 20:26We have one of the odds.
- 20:27Take a look at that.
- 20:28Yeah.
- 20:29What are the, you know,
- 20:29a probability
- 20:30for just fulfilling
- 20:3148 of the major
- 20:33300, you know,
- 20:33of the 300 total prophecies.
- 20:3548 of the major prophecies.
- 20:37Now,
- 20:37so let's just look at the
- 20:38probability
- 20:40that Jesus fulfilled
- 20:41these prophecies.
- 20:42Again, 300 prophecies total,
- 20:44400.
- 20:44We're going to look at the
- 20:45chances of 400
- 20:46of the major prophecies
- 20:48being fulfilled.
- 20:49Just by accident.
- 20:50He wasn't really the Messiah.
- 20:51He fulfilled him by accident.
- 20:52Well, we need to look at some big numbers.
- 20:54How about the number of electrons
- 20:56in the entire known universe?
- 20:58That would be a big number.
- 20:59You can write that as a one
- 21:01followed by 80 zeros.
- 21:03That's how big that number is.
- 21:04Massive number.
- 21:05Now, what are the chances of,
- 21:08let's say,
- 21:09getting a royal flush
- 21:10into card game?
- 21:11I don't play cards much
- 21:12and I don't gamble at all.
- 21:13But I've been told that
- 21:14royal flush is one of the
- 21:15the top hand you can get
- 21:17one of the chances of being
- 21:19dealt a royal flush.
- 21:21Just rounding it off one chance
- 21:23in 650,000.
- 21:25So if you're playing again,
- 21:26someone has dealt that hand.
- 21:29You probably won't accuse him
- 21:30of being a liar,
- 21:31but wow did they get lucky?
- 21:33Now, you lose some money on that.
- 21:34You want to get it back
- 21:35so you decide to play three games
- 21:36instead.
- 21:37And the next two hands
- 21:38they also get a royal flush.
- 21:40What are the chances of that?
- 21:42There's only one chance
- 21:43on a hundred million
- 21:44billion.
- 21:45At that point,
- 21:46you're going to be screaming.
- 21:47You cheated.
- 21:47There's no way you're
- 21:49going to get three royal flushes,
- 21:50three hands in a row.
- 21:51Not going to happen.
- 21:52All right, one chance
- 21:53of 10 or 100 million
- 21:55billion.
- 21:56Let's compare that to
- 21:57Jesus fulfilling just 48
- 21:59of the 300 prophecies.
- 22:01That number is one chance
- 22:03in a one followed by 157
- 22:07zeros.
- 22:08That is phenomenal.
- 22:10Royal flush three in a row,
- 22:11100 million billion.
- 22:13Jesus, this is one chance
- 22:16in a trillion trillion trillion trillion trillion trillion trillion trillion trillion trillion trillion trillion trillion trillion trillion trillion
- 22:23So what are you going to do with that?
- 22:25Are you going to say this guy just got lucky?
- 22:27Or is that evidence?
- 22:29He's actually who we claim to be.
- 22:31One last analogy since all the trillions is just a big number
- 22:34Rubik's cube.
- 22:36Most people have played
- 22:37of the Rubik's cube.
- 22:38If I handed you to the cube,
- 22:39put a blindfold on and you started
- 22:41spitting that thing randomly.
- 22:42You have one chance in 10 million trillion
- 22:46of getting it right.
- 22:47That's how many different combinations there are.
- 22:49So how does that compare to Jesus fulfilling just 48 prophecies?
- 22:54It's like me handing you the cube, blindfolding you,
- 22:57you start spinning it away randomly and you saw that cube
- 23:01eight times in a row,
- 23:02getting it right every single time.
- 23:05That's not going to happen.
- 23:06So what do you do with Jesus?
- 23:09Amen, brother.
- 23:10Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.
- 23:12And there's enough evidence
- 23:15that book from many, many years ago,
- 23:17evidence that demands a verdict.
- 23:19A lot of people don't want to look at these
- 23:23they'll call it predictions,
- 23:24but they are prophecies from the Bible,
- 23:26from the Word of God that he,
- 23:28Jesus Christ fulfilled.
- 23:30No other human being has fulfilled any of these.
- 23:34But Jesus did and yet people still kind of poo-poo it.
- 23:36It really is a willful,
- 23:39maybe not a willful ignorance J,
- 23:41but it's a willful avoidance of the possibility
- 23:45that Jesus could be who he says he is and who he said he was.
- 23:50So what are we dealing with here when it comes to Christians now?
- 23:55Because we kind of get distracted by all the festivities of the season
- 23:58and some of us don't have believers in our family.
- 24:01So it's kind of a touchy issue to bring up Jesus and who he is.
- 24:05But as you said at the beginning of this program,
- 24:08this is one of the best times all year round
- 24:12to talk to ease into that conversation
- 24:15about why we're celebrating.
- 24:16Is it just tradition getting together,
- 24:19giving gifts, why are we doing this?
- 24:21So J, your final thoughts to encourage believers
- 24:24to not only remember what we're celebrating
- 24:28and just being so thankful for the hope that Jesus Christ has given us
- 24:33and just what would you like to share with our viewers?
- 24:37Your most important thing is to pray about it ahead of time
- 24:40because it's not easy.
- 24:41I understand it's not families over.
- 24:43You want to have a good time.
- 24:44You don't want to be a wet blanket.
- 24:46So you need to pray about it,
- 24:47but God will give you an opening to start discussing something
- 24:51and then just trust the Holy Spirit to give you the words.
- 24:54You don't have to have all the apologetics, facts,
- 24:56and probabilities down.
- 24:59God will lead you in what to say and a lot of times it's more powerful
- 25:02just to ask them follow questions.
- 25:04Jesus is just a moral teacher.
- 25:06Oh, what needs you to that conclusion?
- 25:08Well, he had a lot of good stuff to say.
- 25:10Well, he also said he was God is that one of the good things.
- 25:13Well, no, so then he lied about some things
- 25:16but he was good about others and how do you judge?
- 25:19So anyway, pray about it.
- 25:20God will lead you into these conversations.
- 25:22He will honor your efforts and your availability
- 25:24and you always, again, leave the heavy lifting to the Holy Spirit
- 25:27to do a work in the heart of the person that you're talking to.
- 25:30Amen, amen.
- 25:31And you reminded me just by saying that,
- 25:33always be ready to give an answer for the hope,
- 25:38the hope that we have in Christ and the hope that we have,
- 25:41if we can't talk about it at Christmas out of all year,
- 25:45boy, there's a problem maybe with our own faith
- 25:48or trust in God that we can't at least share
- 25:51regardless of whether they receive it or not.
- 25:53But I like what you said, Jay,
- 25:54pray for your family or your friends,
- 25:56whoever you might be able to have conversations with.
- 25:58The God would prepare their hearts.
- 26:00It does sometimes, oftentimes, take the Holy Spirit to nudge us
- 26:04but then give us the words to say.
- 26:05And let's be sensitive to where they're at.
- 26:08We need to be able to know how to respond.
- 26:10How did you come to that conclusion if they don't believe Jesus is God
- 26:14but believe that maybe that there is a God.
- 26:16So Jay, I'm thankful for what you do.
- 26:18Again, friends, go to thestartingpointproject.com
- 26:21and check out Jay's podcast, starting point
- 26:24and the his book, Creation to Christ.
- 26:27If you're still looking for Christmas gifts,
- 26:29you can get that along with mine.
- 26:32But Jay, brother, we will talk to you early, hopefully,
- 26:36in the new year, but Merry Christmas to you
- 26:38and thanks for your ministry, brother.
- 26:40Merry Christmas to you too.
- 26:41It's always a pleasure being on the program.
- 26:43We look forward to future opportunities.
- 26:45Yeah, we'll do it again in Jesus name.
- 26:47Well, guys, thanks again for supporting the show
- 26:49and for sharing, sharing, sharing on social media.
- 26:53It's really interesting how we're limited
- 26:55on certain platforms, but they don't appreciate the truth
- 27:00and some people are offended by the truth and that's okay.
- 27:03That doesn't stop us from proclaiming and declaring the truth
- 27:06that Jesus is Lord.
- 27:08He is the same yesterday, today and forever
- 27:10and that Jesus is the way the truth in the life.
- 27:13No one comes to the Father except through Him.
- 27:16So Merry Christmas, guys.
- 27:18God bless you and as always, keep speaking the truth
- 27:20about things that matter.
