- 0:04Speaker 1: This is the Patriots Catch twenty two podcasts with Evan
- 0:08Speaker 1: Lazar and Alex Bars and Lazarre. Hello, everybody nailed it?
- 0:13Speaker 1: Joined us always by our bar. Here is Evan Lazar
- 0:20Speaker 1: and Alex Bars.
- 0:21Speaker 2: What better you have two guys with rocket arms to
- 0:24Speaker 2: have a rocket scientist teach them how to go about
- 0:27Speaker 2: their their game? Right? So?
- 0:28Speaker 1: How long he's been rehearsing that one?
- 0:30Speaker 2: I came up with it about ten minutes after they
- 0:31Speaker 2: signed him.
- 0:33Speaker 1: I think we have to talk about the Cooper cup
- 0:35Speaker 1: of it all? Uh cup check if you will?
- 0:39Speaker 2: How long? Even holding on a one?
- 0:41Speaker 1: I thought about one last night.
- 0:44Speaker 2: A rare double cut for the open.
- 0:46Speaker 1: A rare time where we both kind of made the
- 0:50Speaker 1: same joke, but not exactly. I feel like we don't
- 0:54Speaker 1: really have the same sense of humor. I think we
- 0:57Speaker 1: we think have very different or attempts at jokes.
- 1:02Speaker 2: I told the joke very similar to one you told
- 1:04Speaker 2: about a week ago, and you got very annoyed. We
- 1:06Speaker 2: don't need to bring that one on the air. But
- 1:08Speaker 2: I don't even know about the fast food restaurant.
- 1:11Speaker 1: Oh yeah, because it just wasn't funny anyway, It just
- 1:13Speaker 1: wasn't funny. Joke like some of the Josh Allen one
- 1:17Speaker 1: is funny. That's funny. Hey, Patriots, fancy if you want
- 1:24Speaker 1: to see Toyota's best offers, including those not seen on TV,
- 1:27Speaker 1: go to buy atya dot com. It's Toyota's official website
- 1:30Speaker 1: for deals for the official vehicle of the New England Patriots, Toyota.
- 1:33Speaker 1: Let's go places. Hello everybody, it's Evan Lazar, It's Alex Barth.
- 1:37Speaker 1: It's Patriots Catch twenty two. With you for the next
- 1:40Speaker 1: couple of hours, talking Patriots off season, free agency. Things
- 1:44Speaker 1: still happening last night, Actually something happening with the Patriots
- 1:48Speaker 1: that is notable, So we'll get to that here in
- 1:51Speaker 1: a second. I'm sure we'll talk plenty of draft and
- 1:55Speaker 1: we are at the point of the draft site.
- 1:57Speaker 2: Of this draft season.
- 1:59Speaker 1: It's it's draft season for everybody now, which is the
- 2:03Speaker 1: time where I hand up fully admit that I start
- 2:06Speaker 1: to get annoyed because you and I and I'm not
- 2:09Speaker 1: saying this to Graham stand or anything like that, but
- 2:12Speaker 1: you and I have on this show have been talking
- 2:14Speaker 1: about all these guys since like November or December, maybe
- 2:18Speaker 1: January if we wanted, When we really.
- 2:20Speaker 2: Started to get in August for me.
- 2:22Speaker 1: But we've been talking about these guys for a while. Yeah,
- 2:24Speaker 1: and so at this point it definitely feels like we
- 2:28Speaker 1: are all dug in on our guys. These are sort
- 2:31Speaker 1: of our opinions on this draft. This is sort of
- 2:34Speaker 1: what we would do at this draft if we were
- 2:36Speaker 1: in the general manager chair. And this is the point
- 2:39Speaker 1: where everybody just gets a little bit riled up because
- 2:43Speaker 1: no one's gonna get moved at this point. Like you,
- 2:45Speaker 1: all the data is in.
- 2:46Speaker 2: Everybody has their guys.
- 2:47Speaker 1: Yeah, all the combines over the film is in there.
- 2:51Speaker 1: You have your guys. I have my guys. So we'll
- 2:54Speaker 1: talk about all of that here in a second. But
- 2:56Speaker 1: I want to start with Garrett Bradbury reported signing by
- 3:00Speaker 1: the Patriots of the former Vikings Center, And last night
- 3:07Speaker 1: I tweeted some things about this signing. I can't really
- 3:11Speaker 1: get all hot and bothered by a thirty point eight
- 3:14Speaker 1: million dollars guarantee to a center. That's I think a
- 3:17Speaker 1: big part of it, and that's all reported, by the way,
- 3:20Speaker 1: but just in general, I can't get that hot and
- 3:22Speaker 1: bothered by basically a one year guarantee on a stopgap center,
- 3:28Speaker 1: which is what this is. And with Bradbury, I think
- 3:31Speaker 1: it's also philosophically just what I like in centers and
- 3:35Speaker 1: what I prefer in centers. I think the number one
- 3:37Speaker 1: thing to me with the center is obviously intelligence and
- 3:41Speaker 1: smarts and the ability to run the line of scrimmage
- 3:44Speaker 1: pre snap, and you can see that on film with
- 3:46Speaker 1: brad Berry, him pointing out, you know, moving the mic
- 3:50Speaker 1: points and like doing all the protections and all that
- 3:53Speaker 1: kind of stuff. In Minnesota's offense, he's renowned for being
- 3:56Speaker 1: a pretty intelligent pre snap center and being able to
- 4:00Speaker 1: handle all those things. The second thing that I always
- 4:02Speaker 1: like in centers, I want an athletic center. I want
- 4:05Speaker 1: a center that can set the pace of the offensive line,
- 4:08Speaker 1: that can make blocks in space, that can reach a
- 4:11Speaker 1: block on the line of scrimmage, that can climb to
- 4:13Speaker 1: the second level, that can pull, that can get out
- 4:16Speaker 1: in front of screens. I just those things are what
- 4:19Speaker 1: I value in centers. Bradbury I think checks a lot
- 4:22Speaker 1: of those boxes. He's a very good athlete, still is
- 4:24Speaker 1: still there on tape with him, and then it's obviously
- 4:28Speaker 1: a bonus if he's a good pass protector. Brad Berry
- 4:30Speaker 1: is not right, it's a bonus. It's a nice bonus
- 4:33Speaker 1: if he is a good pass protector. But out of
- 4:36Speaker 1: all the five spots on the offensive line in terms
- 4:38Speaker 1: of pass protection, I would say it's the least important
- 4:41Speaker 1: at center because most of the time, nobody's lined up
- 4:45Speaker 1: over you right, so you either have somebody that's shaded
- 4:47Speaker 1: in the a gap in the one tech, or you're
- 4:50Speaker 1: in a pass rushing front where the center is completely uncovered.
- 4:54Speaker 1: So as much as I want to say be fair
- 4:58Speaker 1: or objective about his struggles in pass protection, particularly last season,
- 5:03Speaker 1: I don't think that that's the most important thing for
- 5:05Speaker 1: a center because of how much help you can get
- 5:08Speaker 1: from the guards at that position. So I like the
- 5:11Speaker 1: Bradbury signing. I think that this fits the mold of
- 5:15Speaker 1: a lot of their other moves, just in terms of
- 5:18Speaker 1: we needed an answer today, like if we were to
- 5:20Speaker 1: play a game tomorrow, we needed an NFL caliber center
- 5:24Speaker 1: to be able to play that position. And now you
- 5:26Speaker 1: go into the draft and you don't have to be
- 5:28Speaker 1: thinking about center in the top one hundred necessarily because
- 5:31Speaker 1: you have a guy like Bradbury under contract. So I
- 5:35Speaker 1: don't mind it. I'm not trying to tell you and
- 5:37Speaker 1: tell you that he's this high end all Pro caliber center.
- 5:40Speaker 1: He's absolutely not. But he's an NFL player and that's good.
- 5:43Speaker 2: Sure, i'd push back on some of that. I think
- 5:46Speaker 2: in the context of where this team is is at,
- 5:49Speaker 2: I wouldn't call pass detection ability a bonus, and I
- 5:52Speaker 2: think yes it. Centers maybe aren't at the point of
- 5:55Speaker 2: attack in pass pro as much as other positions. But
- 5:59Speaker 2: the fact that he got exposed as much as he
- 6:01Speaker 2: did tells you that he's a guy teams will hunt
- 6:04Speaker 2: in that regard, and so he is a weak spot.
- 6:08Speaker 2: At the same time, he is experienced, smart, veteran. It's
- 6:13Speaker 2: a very inexperienced group there, and I think having a
- 6:15Speaker 2: veteran in the room is important, regardless of if he's
- 6:19Speaker 2: starting or not. I'm not ready to put a sharpie
- 6:21Speaker 2: on the paper yet and call him the starter. I
- 6:23Speaker 2: think it should be an open competition going into camp him,
- 6:26Speaker 2: Cole Strange, Ben Brown. I would like to see them
- 6:29Speaker 2: draft somebody. I'm not taking center out. I don't feel
- 6:31Speaker 2: changed about where they're at at center. In terms of
- 6:34Speaker 2: the big picture. I still wouldn't hate them taking a
- 6:36Speaker 2: center on day two. The ideal center you just described,
- 6:39Speaker 2: I can think of three guys right away, off the
- 6:41Speaker 2: top of my head that fit that bill in this draft,
- 6:43Speaker 2: Jared Wilson from Georgia, Jake Majors from Texas, and then
- 6:47Speaker 2: Seth McLoughlin's a little different because he's coming off of
- 6:50Speaker 2: torn acl Now, maybe he's the perfect guy because you
- 6:53Speaker 2: have Brad Berry or Ben Brown? Is this bridge?
- 6:56Speaker 1: You don't have to draft those guys on day two?
- 6:58Speaker 2: Maybe, Wilson, I think maybe maybe, Also maybe he's right
- 7:02Speaker 2: in that.
- 7:02Speaker 1: I don't know. I think all those guys are if
- 7:04Speaker 1: you're truly a center only player, it's hard to.
- 7:09Speaker 2: I would like them. I would like them to still
- 7:11Speaker 2: like them to make a somewhat significant investment at center
- 7:13Speaker 2: in this draft, especially because you know Bradbury last year
- 7:16Speaker 2: was a doubt. He last year was the worst year
- 7:19Speaker 2: of his career. Right He's coming off the worst year
- 7:20Speaker 2: of his career, career high in pressures, career, high in
- 7:23Speaker 2: accepted penalties, called like, He's not a long term answer.
- 7:28Speaker 2: He's a contender to be the bridge, as is Ben
- 7:30Speaker 2: Brown as his col strange. I think that's a good,
- 7:32Speaker 2: healthy competition. But I don't know that any of those
- 7:35Speaker 2: guys are definitive long term answer. If you add a
- 7:36Speaker 2: guy like a Jared Wilson, or like a Jake Majors
- 7:39Speaker 2: or even McLoughlin, if you know health aside, you know
- 7:44Speaker 2: that that's an option. So I get why they made
- 7:45Speaker 2: the signing. I don't think it's a good or bad signing.
- 7:48Speaker 2: It's I'm just I'm not really moved by it. Like
- 7:50Speaker 2: I guess it's good in the sense that you're adding
- 7:53Speaker 2: to the competition at that spot, which I think is
- 7:55Speaker 2: always healthy. Ninety players is a lot. I don't know
- 7:57Speaker 2: that he's like taking up a roster spot, right. You're
- 8:00Speaker 2: adding a competition at that group, and you put a
- 8:02Speaker 2: veteran in the room for camp, which I think is good.
- 8:05Speaker 2: After that, we'll see what happens. That's kind of where
- 8:06Speaker 2: I'm at with it. I don't I don't know ready
- 8:08Speaker 2: that I'm I don't know that I'm ready to lock
- 8:10Speaker 2: him in, as the Week one said, I'm not ready
- 8:12Speaker 2: to lock anybody in. Is the Week one center it's
- 8:14Speaker 2: going to be an open competition. I don't there should
- 8:16Speaker 2: be an open competition.
- 8:17Speaker 1: I don't disagree that every position is an open competition
- 8:20Speaker 1: in theory.
- 8:21Speaker 2: I'm not talking in the coach speak. Term of everybody's
- 8:23Speaker 2: out here competing, I mean, like a legit.
- 8:24Speaker 1: I would find it really hard to believe that he's
- 8:27Speaker 1: going to get beat out by Ben Brown and Cold Strange.
- 8:29Speaker 1: Like Ben Brown was kicking around practice squads, Cole Strange
- 8:32Speaker 1: is trying to transition to center if he even still
- 8:34Speaker 1: is trying to.
- 8:35Speaker 2: Be Brown cold Strange. I have no idea what's going
- 8:37Speaker 2: to happen with col Strange.
- 8:38Speaker 1: I don't will you that col Strange is playing guard
- 8:42Speaker 1: for this coaching staff.
- 8:43Speaker 2: Or he's just they don't they don't plan on him
- 8:45Speaker 2: being here.
- 8:45Speaker 1: Yeah, but I mean I assume that he's going to
- 8:47Speaker 1: be in camp, and well he's I think.
- 8:49Speaker 2: He'll compete at both. He gives them some flexibility because
- 8:52Speaker 2: I don't know he's a fit as guard in what
- 8:54Speaker 2: McDaniels wants to do either. But is Ben Brown that
- 8:59Speaker 2: different of a player from Garret Bradbury last year?
- 9:01Speaker 1: Different? Yeah? Last year, Yeah, significantly different, Like like Garrett
- 9:05Speaker 1: Bradbury is still a really good run blocking center, Like
- 9:07Speaker 1: Garrett Bradbury is a really good athlete. Obviously, he's got
- 9:11Speaker 1: way more experience than Ben Brown, like Ben Brown was
- 9:13Speaker 1: a nice experience difference Bren Brown. Was I a nice find.
- 9:19Speaker 1: I guess is what I would you know, like you
- 9:20Speaker 1: you poached him off a practice squad and he came
- 9:23Speaker 1: in for a month or so and played a respectable
- 9:26Speaker 1: center for time being.
- 9:28Speaker 2: But it started twelve thirteen games a month.
- 9:32Speaker 1: Yeah, And I just said a month or so, like
- 9:34Speaker 1: it started to give away for him towards the end
- 9:37Speaker 1: of what he you know, when he was playing in there.
- 9:40Speaker 1: This is in my opinion, and this is no disrespect
- 9:44Speaker 1: to Ben Brown. It's more out of respect for Garrett Bradbury.
- 9:47Speaker 1: I kind of find a little like almost disrespectful to
- 9:50Speaker 1: bet to Bradbury to say that he's in the same category.
- 9:53Speaker 2: Well, that's why I said last year, not for his career.
- 9:55Speaker 2: I look at a guy that at Ben Brown's what
- 9:57Speaker 2: twenty five, twenty six, just played his first full he's
- 10:00Speaker 2: in NFL football, versus a guy that is going to
- 10:03Speaker 2: be thirty years old and is coming off his worst season,
- 10:05Speaker 2: like you know it's passing ships.
- 10:08Speaker 1: I just think that he's I think this is who
- 10:09Speaker 1: Bradbury has been his entire career. So I guess, like
- 10:12Speaker 1: worst season, Yeah, I guess maybe by like the metrics
- 10:16Speaker 1: in pass protection, it was his worst season. But I
- 10:19Speaker 1: don't think that he has ever been a high level
- 10:21Speaker 1: pass protector throughout He hasn't, but it was it was
- 10:23Speaker 1: worse last year at times. At times, I mean, he
- 10:27Speaker 1: he was not the issue in that playoff game.
- 10:30Speaker 2: No, you know, I'm not. I'm not pacing, you know.
- 10:32Speaker 2: I hate doing that where it's just one game we
- 10:34Speaker 2: single out. But just I don't know. Again, I'm not
- 10:38Speaker 2: mad they brought him in. You know, let's see, maybe
- 10:41Speaker 2: last year was a blip. Yeah, all I'm saying I
- 10:43Speaker 2: I'm more let's find out what he is than okay,
- 10:46Speaker 2: this is our starter. That's more the camp that I'm in.
- 10:48Speaker 1: Yeah, I can understand that you like that. I don't
- 10:51Speaker 1: think I think Sharpiet is strong like I think. I'd
- 10:52Speaker 1: probably say he's penciled in as the starter. You can
- 10:56Speaker 1: always if.
- 10:57Speaker 2: They had to play a game today, he would probably
- 10:59Speaker 2: start with you on that.
- 11:00Speaker 1: I just don't envision a long way they're going to
- 11:03Speaker 1: find a better center for twenty twenty five. I'm not
- 11:05Speaker 1: talking about.
- 11:06Speaker 2: If he takes another step back this year, the door
- 11:10Speaker 2: this is what we're bad.
- 11:11Speaker 1: Because I just think he was consistent last year with
- 11:13Speaker 1: what his career has been and that that's admitting to
- 11:15Speaker 1: deficiencies in his game, right, Like, I'm not saying that
- 11:18Speaker 1: is in like he's this great player because he's always consistent.
- 11:21Speaker 1: I'm saying it as this is who he is. He's
- 11:23Speaker 1: a very good athlete at the position. He's a very
- 11:25Speaker 1: high level, not very high level. He's a good run blocker. Yeah,
- 11:29Speaker 1: and he's a and he's a you know, not great
- 11:31Speaker 1: pass protector like that. That's just who he is.
- 11:33Speaker 2: Well, I think there's other guys that that can We'll see.
- 11:35Speaker 2: We'll see, Like they're not going to get a better
- 11:37Speaker 2: centered free agency, and that's why the signing makes sense
- 11:39Speaker 2: ultimately to add some floor to that room. I want
- 11:43Speaker 2: to see what they do in the draft. I you know,
- 11:45Speaker 2: if if you get.
- 11:46Speaker 1: I like McLaughlin, well so McLaughlin. I know I like
- 11:53Speaker 1: McLaughlin because I think you're going to get McLoughlin, who's
- 11:57Speaker 1: the Ohio State Center Tours Achilles and November of last
- 12:00Speaker 1: year during practice tough injury. But he you're probably going
- 12:05Speaker 1: to get him a round or two later than you
- 12:07Speaker 1: would have normally because because of the injury, he was
- 12:11Speaker 1: tracking to be a top one hundred pick, probably third
- 12:14Speaker 1: round pick. If he doesn't get hurt. Yeah, so he
- 12:17Speaker 1: gets hurt.
- 12:18Speaker 2: This is a guy with either just real quick, a
- 12:19Speaker 2: guy the really impressive resume. Four year player at Alabama,
- 12:22Speaker 2: started there, transferred after saved and left last year went
- 12:25Speaker 2: to Ohio State, was like a crucial part of their
- 12:28Speaker 2: offensive line. People rave about his leadership is intelligence, like
- 12:31Speaker 2: he is talent wise the best center in this draft.
- 12:34Speaker 1: Agreed. I like that idea. I like that idea because
- 12:37Speaker 1: you put him on ice, you get him ready, Yeah,
- 12:39Speaker 1: you get him healthy. And then if it's halfway through
- 12:42Speaker 1: the year, if it's twenty twenty six.
- 12:44Speaker 2: Might be a little because it was a torn achilles
- 12:46Speaker 2: in laid October, so maybe it's.
- 12:48Speaker 1: Twenty twenty six that he that he takes over in
- 12:50Speaker 1: Bradbury's truly a boint, just stop gap one year play.
- 12:54Speaker 2: I would be that's ultimately what they do, assuming that
- 12:57Speaker 2: they address the other spots that they need to address,
- 13:01Speaker 2: I would be okay with that.
- 13:02Speaker 1: I think it all comes back to kind of bring
- 13:04Speaker 1: a big picture, because I think there's some other things
- 13:06Speaker 1: that we can discuss here too. With the offensive line.
- 13:10Speaker 1: It all comes back to the fact that in my eyes,
- 13:14Speaker 1: their goal on the offensive line, this offseason was to
- 13:17Speaker 1: get back to serviceable Can you just be a average
- 13:21Speaker 1: to below average instead of a bottom of the league
- 13:24Speaker 1: offensive line And we both like the Morgan Moses move,
- 13:29Speaker 1: so we're in agreement on that. I think that's a
- 13:31Speaker 1: step forward to that. I think on when who back
- 13:34Speaker 1: at right guard entrenched at right guard.
- 13:36Speaker 2: Right side's fine. I'm not worried at all about that.
- 13:38Speaker 2: And that's like legitimate solid right side guard.
- 13:40Speaker 1: Yeah. And if and it's a big if, but if
- 13:44Speaker 1: they go out and solve left tackle, and I solve
- 13:47Speaker 1: is probably a strong word too, Like if they have
- 13:49Speaker 1: a competent left tackle next year, then I am I
- 13:52Speaker 1: would I'm confident that Bradbury is going to be a
- 13:56Speaker 1: competent center. So that level that we're trying to reach
- 13:59Speaker 1: of just functional in that group is possible with Garrett Bradberry.
- 14:04Speaker 2: If Bradbury's your worst offensive lineman, you're in pretty good shape.
- 14:07Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 14:08Speaker 2: If he's your second worst, okay, if he's your third,
- 14:12Speaker 2: like now it's.
- 14:14Speaker 1: If he's your second rumble, I agree. But I would
- 14:17Speaker 1: also just say, like he plays center right, so like
- 14:19Speaker 1: we're not talking about him being the worst offensive lineman
- 14:22Speaker 1: that they have at left tackle. We're talking about him
- 14:25Speaker 1: being the worst offensive lineman they have at center. I
- 14:27Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 14:28Speaker 2: I think you're overrating the position thing a little bit
- 14:30Speaker 2: in the sense that smart coaches will find a weakness
- 14:33Speaker 2: and find a way to exploit it. They're not going
- 14:35Speaker 2: to care about where he is on the field or
- 14:37Speaker 2: any of that. They'll go hunt him if they feel
- 14:39Speaker 2: like that's what they need to do.
- 14:40Speaker 1: But it's situational, like you can't. Yeah, they can hunt
- 14:44Speaker 1: him on third down. They could hunt him in their
- 14:46Speaker 1: pass rushing fronts, and so the Jets could play situation.
- 14:49Speaker 1: The Jets could put Quinn Williams right over him on
- 14:52Speaker 1: third and eight and let.
- 14:53Speaker 2: Him rush the past games over the whole game.
- 14:55Speaker 1: But not really like you have your base fronts and
- 14:58Speaker 1: like most teams play with true nose tackles anymore. Like so, yeah,
- 15:02Speaker 1: sure if you want to. If you were really that
- 15:05Speaker 1: dead set on Garrett Bradbury is a liability and we're
- 15:08Speaker 1: just gonna target him for four straight quarters, then yeah,
- 15:11Speaker 1: they obviously could give them some problems with that, but
- 15:13Speaker 1: like what Minnesota would do, you know, they would just
- 15:16Speaker 1: slide the protection, so you have a half slide or
- 15:19Speaker 1: a three man slide that Bradbury would be in and
- 15:21Speaker 1: then they would just be man to man on the
- 15:23Speaker 1: back side of the protection. And for the Patriots, I think,
- 15:27Speaker 1: what you know, just to kind of bring it back
- 15:29Speaker 1: and not get bogged down by debating the the you know,
- 15:33Speaker 1: Garrett Bradbury so much like a lot of these points
- 15:36Speaker 1: to me to the fact that Mike on wen Who
- 15:39Speaker 1: needs to have a really good bounced back. Yes, I
- 15:42Speaker 1: think that might regardless. I think Mike Who in general,
- 15:47Speaker 1: there's just with brad Burry especially, he's gonna have to
- 15:52Speaker 1: take on a lot of the tough assignments on the interior,
- 15:55Speaker 1: like he's gonna have to be able to pass protect
- 15:57Speaker 1: one on one. He's not. You're not gonna be able
- 15:59Speaker 1: to help a ton and pass protection. And when you
- 16:02Speaker 1: have a center like Bradberry, who's you know, six two
- 16:05Speaker 1: six three three hundred pounds, so he's a little undersized
- 16:08Speaker 1: for the offensive line, I think having two Bulldozers or
- 16:13Speaker 1: Malers at guard can really be helpful for a center like.
- 16:16Speaker 2: That, which goes back to the cold strange point too.
- 16:18Speaker 1: Yeah, and I think Minnesota didn't have that. I think
- 16:21Speaker 1: Minnesota had bad guard play on top of having a
- 16:23Speaker 1: weak center play and pass protection and so just exacerbated
- 16:27Speaker 1: all of these issues. So if you have on Wenu
- 16:30Speaker 1: on one side of Garrett Bradberry, and you have a
- 16:33Speaker 1: a Leyden Robinson or a City Sew or a draft
- 16:36Speaker 1: pick on the other side of Garrett Bradberry that's stout
- 16:38Speaker 1: and has good play strength and good anchor to him
- 16:41Speaker 1: and all those types of things, I could see the
- 16:44Speaker 1: interior working out that way you have. You know, Bradberry
- 16:47Speaker 1: helped buy two massive humans right on either.
- 16:51Speaker 2: Side, and I got to get a massive human at
- 16:52Speaker 2: left guard.
- 16:53Speaker 1: Yeah, so City So's a massive city.
- 16:55Speaker 2: So okay, that's I was gonna say, City So could count.
- 16:57Speaker 1: This kind of feels like a little bit all off season,
- 17:00Speaker 1: and I've kind of felt like Citi Stow's back in
- 17:01Speaker 1: play here. Yeah, back to that Bill O'Brien adjacent scheme
- 17:05Speaker 1: that he was okay in as a rookie. Back to
- 17:08Speaker 1: maybe some more downhill stuff, more gap stuff. Now Bradberry's
- 17:12Speaker 1: his zone blocking center has been all the way back
- 17:14Speaker 1: to his college career. So could this signal some sort
- 17:18Speaker 1: of scheme change or maybe a morphing or melding between
- 17:22Speaker 1: what Rabel did in Tennessee and what Josh McDaniels has
- 17:25Speaker 1: done historically to bring in some more zone a flavor
- 17:28Speaker 1: to this offense. I think it's possible. I wouldn't rule
- 17:31Speaker 1: it out. I also wouldn't overreact to one signing, especially
- 17:34Speaker 1: at a level like brad.
- 17:35Speaker 2: I also think this is more about getting that veteran
- 17:38Speaker 2: and an experienced player than the scheme.
- 17:40Speaker 1: His best trait, though, is absolutely his range and his
- 17:44Speaker 1: ability to block on the move, you know, latterly, move
- 17:48Speaker 1: latterly and reach blocks and climb and all that kind
- 17:51Speaker 1: of stuff. That's what he's good at. That typically is
- 17:55Speaker 1: more of a zone blocking thing. Like if you're expecting
- 17:57Speaker 1: Garrett Bradberry to get on a double team and move
- 18:01Speaker 1: the line of scrimmage like that's this is not the
- 18:03Speaker 1: center for you. This is not your guy. But if
- 18:06Speaker 1: you're asking the center to be more athletic and make
- 18:08Speaker 1: more plays in space, then he's definitely somebody that can
- 18:11Speaker 1: do that at a pretty good level. So will be
- 18:14Speaker 1: there'll be a scheme change, maybe, I doubt it. I
- 18:17Speaker 1: still am sticking to my guns that Josh McDaniels is
- 18:20Speaker 1: gonna get to do what Josh McDaniels wants to do
- 18:22Speaker 1: and has always done, which is, you know, run downhill
- 18:25Speaker 1: and two back and power and lead and all that
- 18:28Speaker 1: good stuff. But we'll see. The other thought that I
- 18:32Speaker 1: had with this Brad Burry signing was what I just
- 18:35Speaker 1: mentioned with the guards. This seems to me like the
- 18:38Speaker 1: Patriots are gonna have an open competition for left guard
- 18:42Speaker 1: out of those three recent draft picks Cole Strange, Leyden Robinson,
- 18:46Speaker 1: and City.
- 18:46Speaker 2: So I could see him adding somebody too in the draft.
- 18:49Speaker 1: Yeah, I could see somebody another you know, Dart thrown
- 18:52Speaker 1: in there in the middle round. So you know, I
- 18:53Speaker 1: did some guard research the other day on Monday, had
- 18:57Speaker 1: fun with it. Like, those guards in this class are good.
- 19:00Speaker 1: There's some good players in this guard class, especially when
- 19:04Speaker 1: you factor in the tackles that are going to move
- 19:05Speaker 1: inside for the college tackles. But there's some really good
- 19:09Speaker 1: guards that can be had in the middle round, some
- 19:11Speaker 1: guys that played tackle in college that can beat tackles
- 19:14Speaker 1: in a pinch. You know Arizona kid Jonas Sevilla. Yeah,
- 19:19Speaker 1: obviously Wyatt Milam is probably gonna move inside in Gray's
- 19:22Speaker 1: Abel and Donovan Jackson, but that's sort of the top
- 19:24Speaker 1: of the class. You know, you go into those middle rounds.
- 19:27Speaker 1: You know there's some guys like that too. Jalen Rivers
- 19:29Speaker 1: from Miami. He played a little the left tackle, a
- 19:31Speaker 1: little bit of left guard, so he can be in
- 19:34Speaker 1: a pinch, you can flex him outside and move him
- 19:36Speaker 1: to tackle. I could definitely see a lot of those
- 19:39Speaker 1: types of guys. Your third or fourth round guard, I
- 19:41Speaker 1: think is absolutely on the table. Maybe one of those
- 19:44Speaker 1: guys can even play a little bit of center for
- 19:46Speaker 1: you so that you know it can kind of cross
- 19:49Speaker 1: train him and see where he fits best once he
- 19:52Speaker 1: gets in here. But those three guys that I think Strange,
- 19:55Speaker 1: sal and Robinson are probably gonna be given a pretty
- 19:58Speaker 1: good chance to start at left guard. Yeah.
- 20:00Speaker 2: I think it's gonna be an open competition that I
- 20:02Speaker 2: I you're gonna we're probably you're gonna have a competition
- 20:05Speaker 2: in camp at least one spot, if not too. But
- 20:08Speaker 2: left guard makes the most centrist because of how much
- 20:10Speaker 2: they've invested there, and maybe they keep investing. Maybe this
- 20:12Speaker 2: staff wants their own guy. Shouldn't be in the top
- 20:14Speaker 2: one hundred, but a guy like Carson Vincent or Clay
- 20:17Speaker 2: Webb who also has some some center guard flexibility, yeah,
- 20:21Speaker 2: would would make sense.
- 20:22Speaker 1: Yeah, And I would also just say, from my perspective,
- 20:26Speaker 1: you should be able to get a left guard out
- 20:28Speaker 1: of those three guys, like if you have the right
- 20:30Speaker 1: coaching and you have you have the right coaching, like
- 20:35Speaker 1: if Doug Moron is doing his job well and if
- 20:37Speaker 1: Josh McDaniels is doing his job, those three guys are
- 20:41Speaker 1: talented enough that they should be able to find a
- 20:43Speaker 1: starting guard as.
- 20:44Speaker 2: I unless stylistically the guy they want, they don't fit
- 20:47Speaker 2: what they want, right, But I kind of talked.
- 20:49Speaker 1: About that City so should like maybe, yeah, Leyden Robinson's
- 20:52Speaker 1: a powerful player. He's not as big as City Show, right,
- 20:54Speaker 1: but he's He's a guy that I would say wins
- 20:58Speaker 1: with power, you know, like that he that is so
- 21:00Speaker 1: of his game is power oriented. But I'm with you.
- 21:03Speaker 1: I I think that they're type wise, Like col Strange
- 21:06Speaker 1: is probably not their type.
- 21:07Speaker 2: I think he's going to be more in the mix
- 21:09Speaker 2: at center than guard.
- 21:09Speaker 1: Yeah. I just I genuinely feel that way that they
- 21:13Speaker 1: if they have the right coaching, if they're in the
- 21:16Speaker 1: right scheme, that you invested three top twenty picks, you know,
- 21:22Speaker 1: just to be precise in three different guards, like yeah,
- 21:26Speaker 1: Robinson and so are high fourth round picks. Cole Strange
- 21:28Speaker 1: was obviously a first round pick. If you can't get
- 21:31Speaker 1: one starting guard out of those three guys, I think
- 21:33Speaker 1: that that that's uh, that's not good. You should you
- 21:36Speaker 1: should be able to pull that out. So that brings
- 21:39Speaker 1: us to left tackle in this offensive line reset, which
- 21:43Speaker 1: I'm also going to write about so you can hear
- 21:44Speaker 1: this exact take again on Patriots dot Com tomorrow if
- 21:47Speaker 1: you want. But uh, left tackle glaring obvious, glaring hole
- 21:55Speaker 1: on that side of the of the ball. Like you
- 21:59Speaker 1: can talk yourself into those three guards emerging with one
- 22:02Speaker 1: starter at left guard? Yeah, I can't really talk of
- 22:05Speaker 1: myself into the left tackle being on the roster currently.
- 22:08Speaker 1: Who even is Like if there were to be a
- 22:10Speaker 1: competition right and who I guess Kidd and Wallace trying
- 22:14Speaker 1: to play the left side again, Like it's not even
- 22:16Speaker 1: a competition there right, Not that there's any practices right now,
- 22:18Speaker 1: but yeah, you can't even say it's a competition there
- 22:20Speaker 1: right now, because there's what it can be. Yeah. That
- 22:24Speaker 1: being said, I don't fault them entirely for passing on
- 22:27Speaker 1: Dan Moore junior at twenty million dollars a year. I
- 22:30Speaker 1: think that one, I can understand. I he's he was
- 22:34Speaker 1: not good last year either, gave up the most sacks
- 22:36Speaker 1: in the league at that position. I get that one,
- 22:40Speaker 1: But that doesn't mean that that's not a cop out
- 22:42Speaker 1: like this still used to make a big investment at
- 22:43Speaker 1: left town. Cam Robinson still out there. So Cam Robinson
- 22:46Speaker 1: still out there. Something tells me that Cam Robinson still
- 22:50Speaker 1: being out there is not a good sign for Cam Robinson.
- 22:53Speaker 1: I don't know if it's you know, there are some
- 22:54Speaker 1: rumors out there. None of it's confirmed, so I don't
- 22:57Speaker 1: want to just throw things out there. But with Cam Robinson,
- 23:01Speaker 1: but he's still a free agent as a guy that
- 23:04Speaker 1: was considered one of the top free agents at that position,
- 23:07Speaker 1: which is a very important position, right so the fact
- 23:10Speaker 1: that he's still floating out there means his market has
- 23:12Speaker 1: not materialized the way that he expected. I would say
- 23:15Speaker 1: the other one that I would just mention at left
- 23:18Speaker 1: tackle and free agency that's still out there is probably
- 23:20Speaker 1: ring chasing right now. But Tyron Smith is still out there.
- 23:24Speaker 1: And Tyron Smith, at thirty three years old, played a
- 23:26Speaker 1: respectable left tackle for the Jets last year. He was solid,
- 23:29Speaker 1: he wasn't great. It was kind of like Work and
- 23:31Speaker 1: Moses like those two guys were decent right at their spots. Again,
- 23:36Speaker 1: it's another stop gap, it's another band aid on the issue.
- 23:39Speaker 1: But I wouldn't hate Tyron Smith with a highly drafted
- 23:46Speaker 1: left tackle. You know, maybe you don't have to go
- 23:48Speaker 1: left tackle at four. Maybe you go trade back up
- 23:50Speaker 1: into the first round or take one at thirty eight,
- 23:52Speaker 1: or whatever the case may be. But Cam Robinson and
- 23:55Speaker 1: Tyron Smith are those two options to me and to everybody.
- 23:58Speaker 1: I feel like, if you want to do that route,
- 24:00Speaker 1: if you don't want to be pigeonholed in to tackle
- 24:02Speaker 1: at four, and you want to take a tackle at
- 24:05Speaker 1: thirty eight or at the late first round in the
- 24:07Speaker 1: trade up, then those are your two options to kind
- 24:10Speaker 1: of bridge the gap.
- 24:11Speaker 2: Is Tyron Smith realistically coming here though?
- 24:13Speaker 1: No, right the only way that Tyron Smith's coming here
- 24:17Speaker 1: is if he has very little market and the Patriots
- 24:19Speaker 1: are willing to overpay.
- 24:20Speaker 2: Well, He's also a guy I could see waiting into,
- 24:23Speaker 2: you know, the summer to sign so he doesn't have
- 24:25Speaker 2: to go through spring practices. Patriots kind of need a
- 24:27Speaker 2: guy with them working with Drake May, working with his
- 24:29Speaker 2: coaching staff from the beginning, not that Tyron Smith needs
- 24:32Speaker 2: to work, but yeah, I just I don't know that. Look,
- 24:35Speaker 2: he's better than nothing, but I don't know that he
- 24:40Speaker 2: makes a ton of sense. I don't know how realistic
- 24:41Speaker 2: it is. I don't know that he makes the most sense.
- 24:43Speaker 1: So then the other the draft talk or the draft
- 24:46Speaker 1: draft conversation at tackle is it kind of comes down
- 24:50Speaker 1: to three things for me and maybe you have a
- 24:52Speaker 1: you know, a fourth thing. But I don't want to
- 24:56Speaker 1: take the chance on Will Campbell, right, like Bank on
- 24:59Speaker 1: the film with Will Campbell, that.
- 25:01Speaker 2: It has to be in the conversation if we're just
- 25:03Speaker 2: talking about what the team might do and we're trying
- 25:07Speaker 2: to have a realistic conversation about the Patriots draft strategy,
- 25:10Speaker 2: Will Campbell at four or six, if you trade down
- 25:14Speaker 2: whatever you're not getting past six as a left tackle
- 25:17Speaker 2: has to be in the con We can't ignore it.
- 25:19Speaker 2: It's not something you can ignore.
- 25:20Speaker 1: So Bank on the fact that Will Campbell can make
- 25:23Speaker 1: it work with the arms, yep, flip armand membo to
- 25:27Speaker 1: left tackle yeh, or target the next wave Josh Simmons,
- 25:33Speaker 1: Josh Connery, Arianti Erserie either at thirty eight oh one
- 25:38Speaker 1: of those guys falls a little bit, or go up
- 25:41Speaker 1: and get them in the back half of the first round.
- 25:43Speaker 1: Out of those three options, where do you stand on
- 25:46Speaker 1: March nineteen.
- 25:50Speaker 2: What do I think they're gonna do? I think it's
- 25:51Speaker 2: gonna be Campbell.
- 25:52Speaker 1: Okay, you where does Alex Barth stand?
- 25:55Speaker 2: I would probably get a gro and try to move
- 26:01Speaker 2: up into the twenties and ursery. Who is the third
- 26:08Speaker 2: guys Banks? Right?
- 26:09Speaker 1: Oh? Yeah, well so Banks is interesting?
- 26:11Speaker 2: Who is the third guy in your second tier?
- 26:13Speaker 1: Connor Simmons.
- 26:15Speaker 2: I'm out on Simmons. I've said that I'm out on Simmons.
- 26:18Speaker 2: I'd rather Versary than connorly, but you know, I would
- 26:22Speaker 2: take either. I just think that's the most proudent course
- 26:24Speaker 2: of action. You got to be able to move up,
- 26:26Speaker 2: and I don't think you're getting either of those guys
- 26:28Speaker 2: at thirty eight because we saw this last year. There
- 26:31Speaker 2: is such a shortage at the tackle position. Teams are desperate,
- 26:35Speaker 2: Teams are going to be aggressive, aggressive to try to
- 26:37Speaker 2: fill that hole. Guys are gonna go significantly earlier. Once
- 26:41Speaker 2: once Kelvin Banks goes right, whether it be at eight,
- 26:46Speaker 2: at ten, at twelve, that's essentially a starting gun. The
- 26:50Speaker 2: race is on, and because after the three guys you named,
- 26:54Speaker 2: and to me, Simmons is a good player, but he's
- 26:56Speaker 2: not an option for the Patriots. Like there's there's a significant,
- 27:00Speaker 2: significant drop off to the next group. So you have
- 27:03Speaker 2: three shots and in the Patriots case, in some other
- 27:05Speaker 2: team's cases, two shots to get your guy starting it.
- 27:09Speaker 2: If I'm being realistic, Banks probably isn't going any lower
- 27:11Speaker 2: than fifteen sixteen, that's right. I left them, So yeah, no,
- 27:14Speaker 2: and you were right to do that so well. The
- 27:17Speaker 2: other option would be do you trade down to like ten,
- 27:19Speaker 2: try to get a haul and take Banks there. That
- 27:21Speaker 2: would be a fourth option. But to me, you're racing
- 27:25Speaker 2: up from thirty eight to try to get one of
- 27:27Speaker 2: those guys, and it's probably gonna be expensive, and you're
- 27:30Speaker 2: really gonna have to push to do it. They knew
- 27:33Speaker 2: last year they needed to do it, and they didn't.
- 27:35Speaker 2: They tried last year for both a tackle and a
- 27:37Speaker 2: receiver to do this, and they failed in doing so.
- 27:40Speaker 2: I said this on the show last night, and I
- 27:42Speaker 2: think I'm going to start giving this take stronger and
- 27:45Speaker 2: stronger as we go on, pending any changes to the roster.
- 27:49Speaker 2: Tell me if you agree, Ev and they should not
- 27:50Speaker 2: be picking at thirty eight. I don't think that if
- 27:54Speaker 2: they pick at thirty eight they didn't have the best
- 27:56Speaker 2: possible draft. You have two thirds, you have the flexibility
- 27:59Speaker 2: to move up. Option Number one for me at tackle
- 28:03Speaker 2: is getting up to where you need to get up to,
- 28:05Speaker 2: which is probably the high mid twenties. And if you package,
- 28:09Speaker 2: even if you want to do the lower third, the
- 28:10Speaker 2: Jude on third, thirty eight and seventy seven historically gets
- 28:15Speaker 2: you to like twenty three, twenty four, and you should
- 28:18Speaker 2: You might not get your choice, but you should be
- 28:19Speaker 2: able to get one of Ursery and Connery there maybe
- 28:22Speaker 2: you do get your choice. That's the move to me.
- 28:25Speaker 2: After that, I take the shot on Will Campbell. I
- 28:27Speaker 2: know people think I overreact to the right side to
- 28:30Speaker 2: left side thing, but and yes, if you want to
- 28:33Speaker 2: pull out a handful of examples where it's worked, you
- 28:36Speaker 2: can do that. The vast majority of the time it
- 28:38Speaker 2: hasn't worked. You can say the same thing about Will
- 28:41Speaker 2: Campbell's arm length too, because I know people will come
- 28:42Speaker 2: back at me at that. If I were to rank these,
- 28:45Speaker 2: it's one, two three, and for people listening, my arms
- 28:49Speaker 2: like all the way up on one and two three
- 28:51Speaker 2: were two very little little motions. So yes, either way
- 28:55Speaker 2: you're asking for an outlier, whether it's Campbell or whether
- 28:57Speaker 2: it's moving Membo. And by the way, was not exactly
- 29:01Speaker 2: the prototype left tackle either. He has the arm length,
- 29:03Speaker 2: but he's shorter, yeah, and he's not as wide as
- 29:08Speaker 2: he usually looked forward to position three hundred and thirty
- 29:10Speaker 2: two pounds, but it's he's built like a guard. He's
- 29:12Speaker 2: built kind of like Kelvin Banks. So either way, two
- 29:15Speaker 2: or three are looking for an outlier. To me, trust
- 29:18Speaker 2: the coaching staff to either coach up Ursery or coach
- 29:20Speaker 2: up Connory, and just looking at their preferences and their
- 29:23Speaker 2: trends and the way they've gone. If I had to guess,
- 29:26Speaker 2: Ursery's probably hired and Connory on their board.
- 29:28Speaker 1: Yeah. So I put out a mock draft yesterday or
- 29:31Speaker 1: the day before, and I took Campbell at four overall.
- 29:34Speaker 2: Again, if we're playing the prediction game, that's what I think, right.
- 29:36Speaker 1: And everybody came at me and was like, you said,
- 29:38Speaker 1: you were out on Campbell, You're flip flopping, And my
- 29:41Speaker 1: take on Campbell has not flip flapped one bit. I
- 29:44Speaker 1: feel the same way that I did I personally would
- 29:47Speaker 1: not take Will Campbell at four because of the risk
- 29:50Speaker 1: with the arm length. I genuinely feel like with Will
- 29:54Speaker 1: Campbell you have to be careful there. With four overall,
- 29:57Speaker 1: you want to pick that you feel really good about.
- 29:59Speaker 1: With that being said, in a draft like this, it's
- 30:02Speaker 1: easier said than done to just do that because if
- 30:06Speaker 1: Travis Hunter and Abdul Carter are not there, then now
- 30:09Speaker 1: we're talking about a group of players that all have
- 30:11Speaker 1: question marks right now. They all have certain things about
- 30:14Speaker 1: them that we don't love. I saw Daniel Jeremiah tweeted
- 30:18Speaker 1: this out yesterday. If the Patriots or any team or
- 30:21Speaker 1: to draft Ted McMillan inside the top fifteen, he would
- 30:24Speaker 1: be the first four or five plus receiver to go
- 30:27Speaker 1: that high since Mike Evans. It's over ten years, so
- 30:31Speaker 1: Mike Evans was drafted in twenty fourteen. So you're basically
- 30:34Speaker 1: banking on the fact that he's going to be Mike Evans,
- 30:37Speaker 1: right like he's going to be that he's an outlier. Yeah,
- 30:40Speaker 1: drafting a four or five to five receiver at four
- 30:42Speaker 1: overall is an outlier, right, Whether you are in love
- 30:45Speaker 1: with the forty or not, it makes him an outlier. Ye,
- 30:47Speaker 1: Mason Graham is small, He's two hundred and ninety five pounds.
- 30:51Speaker 1: That makes him an outlier.
- 30:52Speaker 2: Well, not just that, the last defensive tackle to go
- 30:57Speaker 2: in the top five was Quinn Williams in two thousand
- 31:01Speaker 2: and nine. The last one before that was Marcel Darius
- 31:04Speaker 2: in twenty eleven. Right, So that's another one where and
- 31:08Speaker 2: how both good players? How much of those guys contribute
- 31:11Speaker 2: to their teams winning? Right?
- 31:12Speaker 1: So Ted McMillan's has the speed concerns that would make
- 31:16Speaker 1: him an outlier. Will Campbell has arm length concerns that
- 31:18Speaker 1: would make him an outlier. Mason Graham. It's a combination,
- 31:21Speaker 1: I would say, of size and position. Yep ash and
- 31:25Speaker 1: Gent's a running back. Tyler Warren is a tight end.
- 31:27Speaker 2: Who's last tight end? And one top five those I
- 31:30Speaker 2: don't even think it's Pits Right, didn't Pitts go six?
- 31:31Speaker 1: Those positions are typically not viewed as great positional value
- 31:36Speaker 1: at the top of the draft. So what I'm getting
- 31:39Speaker 1: at is is that it's easy to just sit here
- 31:41Speaker 1: and say I'm out on Will Campbell, which maybe I
- 31:44Speaker 1: was a little bit strong with after the combine. Pitts
- 31:47Speaker 1: went for more than I should have been, but it's
- 31:49Speaker 1: easy to say that when then you start to look
- 31:51Speaker 1: at and survey.
- 31:52Speaker 2: The lank Right, So who were you in on? Well,
- 31:54Speaker 2: I'm just kidding, no, No, that's my point. Like, if
- 31:56Speaker 2: you're out on Will Campbell, Okay, well who are you
- 31:58Speaker 2: in right?
- 31:59Speaker 1: So if it were me and I was picking, I
- 32:03Speaker 1: would personally I like the scenario of trading back up
- 32:07Speaker 1: into the back end of the first round. Now, I
- 32:09Speaker 1: just looked it up last last season. I think this
- 32:11Speaker 1: is kind of relevant. Marius Mims started another run of
- 32:16Speaker 1: O line at eighteen, right, he got drafted at eighteen
- 32:19Speaker 1: by the Bengals. Tyler Geiton went in the twenties to Dallas.
- 32:24Speaker 1: So I would say that Connorly and Ursery potentially and
- 32:30Speaker 1: then maybe Simmons if teams feel good about their his medicals,
- 32:35Speaker 1: the twenties to early thirties is probably where those three
- 32:38Speaker 1: guys are going in that sort of range. So the
- 32:41Speaker 1: Patriots are gonna have to be aggressive. They're gonna have
- 32:45Speaker 1: to trade back up, potentially all the way back up
- 32:47Speaker 1: into the first round. Do you like Ursery? I personally
- 32:51Speaker 1: like Connorly a little bit more. I just think he's
- 32:53Speaker 1: a higher level pass protector, and that's what I would
- 32:55Speaker 1: want at that spot. Ursery is a maler.
- 32:57Speaker 2: I like Connor I Thinksery is there.
- 33:02Speaker 1: I would say he would be their type at right tackle.
- 33:05Speaker 1: I think at left tackle they have typically had better
- 33:08Speaker 1: athletes and guys that pass protected. A little bit of
- 33:11Speaker 1: a higher level erser worries me just I think in
- 33:14Speaker 1: terms of foot speed and just nimbleness at that position.
- 33:18Speaker 1: He has some of those concerns a little bit like
- 33:21Speaker 1: Trent Brown, where like, he's just a bigger dude right
- 33:24Speaker 1: so it's a lot of weight to move when he
- 33:26Speaker 1: has to move back and forth and side to side
- 33:28Speaker 1: and change directions and get out to speed rushers and
- 33:31Speaker 1: get underneath them and leverage blocks and get his hands
- 33:34Speaker 1: on people that are twitched up rushers like that, He's
- 33:38Speaker 1: always gonna just be kind of a bigger guy, and
- 33:41Speaker 1: I feel like he moves a little bit like that.
- 33:42Speaker 1: Connorly is the total opposite. Connorly doesn't have his play strength,
- 33:46Speaker 1: but is a much more nimble pass protector and much
- 33:49Speaker 1: lighter on his feet. So if I had to rank
- 33:51Speaker 1: the options, I would personally try to target one of
- 33:55Speaker 1: those guys at the back end of the first round,
- 33:57Speaker 1: early second. That would be number one for me.
- 33:59Speaker 2: By the way, real quick, last tight end and go
- 34:01Speaker 2: top five before Kyle Pits.
- 34:02Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 34:03Speaker 2: Nineteen seventy two, Riley Odoms to the Broncos.
- 34:05Speaker 1: Jess.
- 34:06Speaker 2: A couple guys went six overall, but that's a significant,
- 34:09Speaker 2: significant outlier. It was Vernon Davis and somebody else went
- 34:11Speaker 2: six overall. Kellen Winslow.
- 34:13Speaker 1: Then I'm going Will Campbell, and I want to finish this.
- 34:16Speaker 1: Will Campbell take care in a second, and then I
- 34:18Speaker 1: would go Membo like that would be my order with
- 34:22Speaker 1: Will Campbell. The thing that I mocked him to the
- 34:24Speaker 1: Patriots in my last mock draft. Like I said, what
- 34:27Speaker 1: I keep coming back to with Will Campbell is that
- 34:30Speaker 1: I cannot fathom that Mike Rabel is going to get
- 34:35Speaker 1: into a room with Will Campbell and sit down and
- 34:38Speaker 1: talk to this guy and have him here and host
- 34:40Speaker 1: him here on a thirty visit and talk to Will
- 34:42Speaker 1: Campbell and not fall in love. He is a Mike
- 34:45Speaker 1: Rabel football player.
- 34:47Speaker 2: Every go look up any quote of him talking at
- 34:50Speaker 2: any point. That is leadership, accountability, all the ENTI.
- 34:54Speaker 1: High high football character. He's gonna be captain year two,
- 34:57Speaker 1: right and I just with this regime, culture is a
- 35:03Speaker 1: big word. It seems like a lot of their moves
- 35:05Speaker 1: so far in free agency has been about establishing a
- 35:09Speaker 1: culture here in New England. And I just can't imagine
- 35:13Speaker 1: that the culture guy an offensive lineman that has that
- 35:16Speaker 1: kind of intangible qualities like Will Campbell. I just can't
- 35:20Speaker 1: imagine that Rabel is going to look at that and
- 35:22Speaker 1: say his arms are a little too short. So I'm asking, right,
- 35:24Speaker 1: I just can't see that. So would it be the
- 35:28Speaker 1: smartest pick in the world. Would it be a risk? Yeah,
- 35:30Speaker 1: it would be a risk. But just trying to project
- 35:33Speaker 1: what they might do now, I just think Will Campbell
- 35:36Speaker 1: is definitely on their radar.
- 35:38Speaker 2: I'm with you what it's going to come down to.
- 35:41Speaker 2: If Travis Hunter's off the board, I think it's clearly
- 35:44Speaker 2: prediction wise, I think it's clearly Campbell.
- 35:46Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 35:46Speaker 2: The only thing is would they pass on Travis Hunter?
- 35:51Speaker 2: Because Rabel also talked about how hard it is to
- 35:54Speaker 2: get a wide receiver and the importance of drafting at
- 35:56Speaker 2: that position, And you know, I could there an argument
- 36:00Speaker 2: to be had there based on what we've seen of
- 36:02Speaker 2: their philosophies. Now, using my own philosophies using their philosophies.
- 36:06Speaker 2: There's a real debate between Travis Hunter, assuming they fume
- 36:09Speaker 2: as a wide receiver, which we both think they do,
- 36:11Speaker 2: especially out the sign in Carlon Davis and uh Will Campbell.
- 36:15Speaker 2: But if Hunter's not there, how's that not the guy?
- 36:20Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 36:21Speaker 2: How is that not their guy? He's made in a
- 36:23Speaker 2: lab to play for Mike Rabel Hunt. We've known that
- 36:25Speaker 2: since September.
- 36:26Speaker 1: Yeah, one hundred percent. I can't imagine that they would
- 36:29Speaker 1: pass on Travis Hunter. Like we've had some opportunities to
- 36:32Speaker 1: talk to Elliott Wolfe and uh, I know there's some reporting.
- 36:36Speaker 1: I think mass Live has been has reporting on on
- 36:38Speaker 1: Travis Hunter. Yeah, more source type of stuff. And every
- 36:43Speaker 1: time that I've had the opportunity, you know when I
- 36:46Speaker 1: say every time, the one time at the table that
- 36:48Speaker 1: we at the combine, I mean the guy was we
- 36:52Speaker 1: had two different scouting reports about this guy, like you know,
- 36:55Speaker 1: we wrote up one receiver, one corner. I understand to
- 36:59Speaker 1: an extent that it's probably just a fascinating player from
- 37:02Speaker 1: a lifetime of you know, scouting, that you get to
- 37:05Speaker 1: scout a guy that plays both ways at such a
- 37:07Speaker 1: high level. That's probably just fascinating for a true scout
- 37:11Speaker 1: scout like Elliott Wolf. But at the same time, I
- 37:16Speaker 1: can't imagine that they are saying these things about Travis
- 37:20Speaker 1: Hunter publicly and privately and then they're just gonna pass
- 37:24Speaker 1: on Travis Hunter if he's there at four. I don't
- 37:25Speaker 1: think that's necessarily in play. But I'm with you. I
- 37:28Speaker 1: think it's Campbell. If it's not the other sort of
- 37:31Speaker 1: tie in, then we'll get to all these calls and emails.
- 37:36Speaker 1: Can we call it like forty Gate, because like Ted
- 37:38Speaker 1: McMillan's forty I have heard every's range from four four
- 37:43Speaker 1: eight to four six. Well, for his forty yard dash
- 37:46Speaker 1: is private workout. It wasn't even a pro day. He's
- 37:49Speaker 1: not participating in the big twelve Pro day. He just
- 37:51Speaker 1: did a private workout for teams.
- 37:52Speaker 2: The majority of the reports, there's only one report that's
- 37:56Speaker 2: under four five. The majority of the reports are in
- 37:59Speaker 2: the I went back and I looked at everything and
- 38:02Speaker 2: I like averaged it out. The majority of the reports
- 38:05Speaker 2: are in the mid four fives, like four five three
- 38:08Speaker 2: to four five five is seemingly the number, which is
- 38:11Speaker 2: also pretty much what it looks like on tape. I'll Yeah,
- 38:14Speaker 2: he four to six would be slow even for him,
- 38:17Speaker 2: Like that would be pretty eye opening. If he ran
- 38:20Speaker 2: a four to six had a private workout, he would
- 38:22Speaker 2: have never let that number get out there. Let's be honest. Yeah,
- 38:25Speaker 2: so I'm i'm I think it's I'm open. I'm willing
- 38:29Speaker 2: to call it like a four five, three, four, five
- 38:31Speaker 2: five somewhere in there.
- 38:32Speaker 1: So he looks to me like a low four fives guy. Yeah,
- 38:35Speaker 1: like four or five three feels right. That feels four
- 38:38Speaker 1: or five to five on the high end of the range.
- 38:39Speaker 1: Maybe if he's a little bit slower than the eye.
- 38:41Speaker 2: I also wonder if he ran too like because most
- 38:43Speaker 2: people run to you run two with the combine, and
- 38:46Speaker 2: if people haven't been differentiating.
- 38:48Speaker 1: So I think that there was some reporting that he
- 38:50Speaker 1: only ran once, so he must have thought it run twice.
- 38:53Speaker 1: He must have thought it was a decent enough I guess,
- 38:55Speaker 1: so run once. So the number that I was looking
- 38:58Speaker 1: for him to put up just to really be like, okay,
- 39:01Speaker 1: I need to reevaluate this. Michael Pittman Junior ran a
- 39:04Speaker 1: four or five to two. Yeah, So we talk about
- 39:08Speaker 1: you know, like ceiling floor, mid, mid, middle, mean, whatever
- 39:12Speaker 1: you want to call it in terms of prospects, I
- 39:14Speaker 1: think with Ted, the floor comp to me is Michael
- 39:18Speaker 1: Pittman junior with the Colts, who is pretty good floor.
- 39:21Speaker 1: He Yeah, it's a good floor. But he's a ninety
- 39:25Speaker 1: catch a thousand yard guy. Right, it's gonna be like
- 39:28Speaker 1: eleven yards per catch. Right, that's what he's gonna do.
- 39:31Speaker 1: He's in a big frame, but he's really a possession receiver.
- 39:34Speaker 1: He is a first and second level guy, and he
- 39:37Speaker 1: gets open at the top of the route and that's
- 39:39Speaker 1: about it, right, slants in, cuts, stop routes on the outside,
- 39:43Speaker 1: back shoulders in the occasional throw it up and let
- 39:47Speaker 1: him go get it down the field. That that's Michael
- 39:49Speaker 1: Pittman Jr. The middle is Drake London, and I think
- 39:53Speaker 1: Drake London brings what I see with Ted on film
- 39:55Speaker 1: a little bit. Is that burst after the catch, Right,
- 39:58Speaker 1: He's got a little bit more explo honess with the ball.
- 40:00Speaker 2: That's why I like, did you see that? Did anybody
- 40:03Speaker 2: give a ten yard split?
- 40:04Speaker 3: No?
- 40:04Speaker 2: I was really curious because I bet his ten yard
- 40:06Speaker 2: split was pretty good.
- 40:07Speaker 1: Yeah, I was.
- 40:08Speaker 2: I was curiously what his ten yard split was because
- 40:10Speaker 2: of that that burst.
- 40:11Speaker 1: Yeah, he has an ability, and I know some of
- 40:13Speaker 1: the analytics, like some of the player tracking will back
- 40:17Speaker 1: this up. Like when he catches the ball, he finds
- 40:19Speaker 1: another gear.
- 40:20Speaker 2: He's the most underrated part of his game is how
- 40:22Speaker 2: good he is after the catch.
- 40:23Speaker 1: Yeah, he's really good at it. And he's really a
- 40:25Speaker 1: really great stop on a dime change in direction to
- 40:28Speaker 1: just kind of slip out of a tackle real quick
- 40:30Speaker 1: and turn up the field. He has that really good ability.
- 40:33Speaker 1: He reverses field pretty well, you know, and he'll just
- 40:36Speaker 1: he'll run around, he'll get open on an incut and
- 40:38Speaker 1: the defender will kind of come crashing in to try
- 40:41Speaker 1: to break up the pass, and he can stop on
- 40:43Speaker 1: a dime and come right back up the field and
- 40:45Speaker 1: create after the catch. He's really good at that. But
- 40:48Speaker 1: what I'm getting at with Ted is that you just
- 40:50Speaker 1: need to know what you're drafting, right like and then
- 40:53Speaker 1: the high floor I guess I didn't mention, you know,
- 40:55Speaker 1: obviously be like somebody like t Higgins, right. Yeah. He
- 40:58Speaker 1: also he ran a four five three. I don't know
- 41:00Speaker 1: if he ran at the combine. I think that's like
- 41:02Speaker 1: an unofficial pro DAI remember, But needless to say, the
- 41:06Speaker 1: point being, you have to understand what you're getting with
- 41:10Speaker 1: Tep McMillan. You're not getting a field stretcher. You're not
- 41:13Speaker 1: getting a vertical threat. I don't think that he really
- 41:16Speaker 1: especially playing on the outside. I don't think that he
- 41:19Speaker 1: threatens vertically from the outside. He doesn't run by people,
- 41:23Speaker 1: especially on the outside against press coverage. But you're getting
- 41:28Speaker 1: a good first and second level receiver, and I do
- 41:31Speaker 1: think that he will stretch the field a little bit
- 41:34Speaker 1: for you in the slot. If you put him in
- 41:36Speaker 1: the big slot type of role and have him run
- 41:38Speaker 1: seams and things like that, I think that's where he
- 41:41Speaker 1: can be effective down the field because then you get
- 41:43Speaker 1: him on matchups with linebackers and safeties and stuff like that,
- 41:46Speaker 1: and he can win those foot races. So if you
- 41:48Speaker 1: understand the type of player that you're getting, and you're
- 41:50Speaker 1: creative enough to understand the type of player that you're getting,
- 41:54Speaker 1: then Ted McMillan has a nice floor projection. To me, like,
- 41:57Speaker 1: I don't see a path where he's a total bright.
- 42:01Speaker 2: That's why I use Pittman. I appreciate everybody who sent in.
- 42:04Speaker 2: We did that exercise last week. What's the komfafee busted?
- 42:06Speaker 2: I got a bunch of good uhlies.
- 42:09Speaker 1: I don't see him being like this monumental bust of
- 42:11Speaker 1: a receiver because I think he's got great body control
- 42:13Speaker 1: and route running and hands, which is a really good
- 42:16Speaker 1: baseline level of trade yacability. Right. So, uh, Ted McMillan,
- 42:21Speaker 1: My opinion on him hasn't changed. I still feel the
- 42:24Speaker 1: same way. I still think it's a little rich at four.
- 42:27Speaker 1: I probably would only entertain it at four though, the
- 42:31Speaker 1: only reason why I'd entertained it at four is because
- 42:34Speaker 1: he's a receiver. Yeah, And Mike Rabele gave that quote
- 42:37Speaker 1: at the Combine that it's hard to find receivers of
- 42:39Speaker 1: that caliber and most of the time you have to
- 42:42Speaker 1: draft those guys. So is there a scenario where they
- 42:45Speaker 1: just say we need playmaking on offense. He's not perfect,
- 42:48Speaker 1: but he's a playmaker. Yeah, we're draft in Ted.
- 42:52Speaker 2: And to anybody, so we'll trade down and do it.
- 42:53Speaker 2: Maybe the trade's not there right right, or you can't
- 42:56Speaker 2: trade you know, really, So I'm gonna ask you two
- 42:58Speaker 2: questions about this. Yeah, well one question and then one
- 43:00Speaker 2: series of questions. Is Ted McMillan slow, Yes, I disagree.
- 43:08Speaker 2: I just don't think he's fast. Well, he has functional speed.
- 43:11Speaker 1: That's the most semantics are.
- 43:12Speaker 2: He has functional speed. No, it's not No, it's not
- 43:14Speaker 2: the same. He's not slow. For the who do you
- 43:16Speaker 2: remember the guy from It was David Bell right from Purdue.
- 43:19Speaker 2: He was a couple of years ago. Whoe everybody was
- 43:20Speaker 2: all hot and bothered by he was like a top
- 43:22Speaker 2: one hundred pick and then he ran like a four
- 43:23Speaker 2: to seven. That guy slow. Teed McMillan has functional speed.
- 43:27Speaker 2: He's not fast, but he's not slow. He has functional speed.
- 43:30Speaker 2: Here's the other party, who's your wide receiver?
- 43:32Speaker 1: Two?
- 43:32Speaker 2: Right now? Is at Golden or is it?
- 43:35Speaker 1: I'm still on still like Luther Burden. I know the
- 43:38Speaker 1: league doesn't.
- 43:38Speaker 2: But which gap is bigger? And this is Travis Hunter
- 43:42Speaker 2: being his own thing, right, which gap or actually this
- 43:45Speaker 2: is the three? Is Travis Hunter is a receiver to
- 43:47Speaker 2: tet versus TET to Burden? Which gap is bigger?
- 43:51Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a good conversation. And I also would say
- 43:54Speaker 1: add the tackles in there too, write like it's a
- 43:56Speaker 1: bigger gap like Will Campbell and armand Membo.
- 43:59Speaker 2: Josh to a receiver just a receiver.
- 44:01Speaker 1: Uh, I would say that there's probably a bigger gap
- 44:06Speaker 1: between Tet and Luther Burden.
- 44:08Speaker 2: Then yeah, okay, so let's go. Let's say Hunter's off
- 44:10Speaker 2: the board, right, Tet to Burden or Burden to Golden
- 44:14Speaker 2: Orbuka I have, I have.
- 44:16Speaker 1: Burden, Abuca, and Golden all in the same tier. Okay,
- 44:19Speaker 1: so I view those guys as pretty equal players. I
- 44:22Speaker 1: think all three of those guys, and I think Luther
- 44:24Speaker 1: Burden's getting hurt by last season and some of the
- 44:27Speaker 1: antics last season for teams. I'm sure that there's questions
- 44:30Speaker 1: about that, But to me, those guys all belong in
- 44:34Speaker 1: the twenties of a draft, like they all there right,
- 44:37Speaker 1: wears A Flowers and Jackson Smith and Jigba and Jordan
- 44:40Speaker 1: Addison and Quinn Johnson were.
- 44:42Speaker 2: So I guess this, this is kind of what I
- 44:44Speaker 2: was leading to. Let's say, so Hunter, you're uncomfortable at four,
- 44:48Speaker 2: but you acknowledge maybe you need a receiver. The trades,
- 44:51Speaker 2: I'm definitely taking McMillan. Sorry, McMillan, Yeah, yeah, sorry, Yes,
- 44:54Speaker 2: I take Hunter for McMillan.
- 44:55Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 44:56Speaker 2: Maybe the trade's not there to get down to like
- 44:57Speaker 2: six or seven where you want him. You can trade
- 45:00Speaker 2: down to like fifteen, and let's say a future first,
- 45:04Speaker 2: right and get or maybe you don't because obviously, if
- 45:07Speaker 2: you can get the future first, you're taking the future first.
- 45:08Speaker 2: You trade down to like fifteen somewhere to teens knowing
- 45:11Speaker 2: you want to take a receiver and you take burden.
- 45:15Speaker 1: Yeah, would you.
- 45:15Speaker 2: Rather and you're maybe overdrafting burden a little bit, but
- 45:18Speaker 2: now you've gotten this hall, would you rather do that?
- 45:20Speaker 1: Yeah, I'd rather do that. Okay, maybe it wouldn't be
- 45:23Speaker 1: burdened just because they feel they don't.
- 45:25Speaker 2: Or Golden or whoever, right, Like, to me, Golden is
- 45:29Speaker 2: the second best wide receiver, especially like if we're talking
- 45:32Speaker 2: specifically for the Patriots, and if Josh McDaniel's gonna run
- 45:35Speaker 2: the offense, we think he's gonna run to me. Matthew
- 45:38Speaker 2: Golden's wide receiver too, And the gap between McMillan and
- 45:43Speaker 2: Golden is not as big in that regard as maybe
- 45:45Speaker 2: some people would make it.
- 45:47Speaker 1: Yeah, I think there's a lot of people that agree
- 45:49Speaker 1: with you in the league on that. Like, I think
- 45:50Speaker 1: there's gonna be teams that have Matthew Golden as the
- 45:52Speaker 1: number one receiver in this class, especially teams that prioritize
- 45:56Speaker 1: speed obviously over some of the other things with Matthew
- 45:59Speaker 1: Golden or with Luther Burden. Actually, I just feel like
- 46:02Speaker 1: with Burden, mel Kiper and Daniel Jeremiah both had him
- 46:05Speaker 1: out of the first round and their mocks there this week.
- 46:09Speaker 1: That's not based off of tape. That's based off of
- 46:11Speaker 1: intel they're getting inside the league that teams are not
- 46:15Speaker 1: in love with the football character right in terms of
- 46:18Speaker 1: some of the answer, I don't think.
- 46:20Speaker 2: I don't think it's a character thing with Golden. I
- 46:22Speaker 2: think he doesn't have a Golden too. Right, then Golden
- 46:25Speaker 2: outside the.
- 46:25Speaker 1: First round, no's going the first I thought you said Golden,
- 46:28Speaker 1: and I think with Luther Burden.
- 46:31Speaker 2: Okay, then yes, it's talent. It's not talent, which is
- 46:34Speaker 2: crazy because if you talk to people who are around
- 46:38Speaker 2: him at Missouri, yeah, you hear about what a great
- 46:41Speaker 2: kid he is and how driven he is and all
- 46:43Speaker 2: of that and what he's meant to the community. So
- 46:44Speaker 2: it's literally just getting frustrated in that broken down offense
- 46:48Speaker 2: last year.
- 46:49Speaker 1: Yeah, that's it. Yeah, So let me ask you this question,
- 46:52Speaker 1: because now that these mocks have come out and he's
- 46:57Speaker 1: out of the first round, Yeah, are you taking Luther
- 46:59Speaker 1: Burden at thirty?
- 47:00Speaker 2: Absolutely? I mean unless they take Ted at four double
- 47:03Speaker 2: right right, Yes, if they go tackle in the first
- 47:05Speaker 2: round and Luther Burden's there thirty eight h absolutely yeah, Yeah.
- 47:09Speaker 2: I think your camp, your comp has been bigger.
- 47:12Speaker 1: Z A Flowers, Yeah, bigger.
- 47:14Speaker 2: I think there's some debo there, ye, Like you plug
- 47:16Speaker 2: that guy into this offense, you're gonna have a really
- 47:18Speaker 2: good time.
- 47:19Speaker 1: I wonder some of the reporting out there, think Tom
- 47:22Speaker 1: Kerran had it about DK Metcalf and they were worried
- 47:25Speaker 1: about the diva wide receiver calling for the ball all
- 47:30Speaker 1: the time and begging for the ball all the time.
- 47:33Speaker 1: Burden last year. You could take some of the antics
- 47:37Speaker 1: that he had and spin it that way that he
- 47:40Speaker 1: was mad he wasn't getting targets.
- 47:41Speaker 2: I think that's what it was, right, so Brady cooked.
- 47:44Speaker 1: Just maybe if they felt that way about DK, then
- 47:46Speaker 1: maybe it takes a guy like Burden off their board.
- 47:49Speaker 1: But I kind of feel the opposite way because I
- 47:53Speaker 1: trust Rabel with the culture stuff, like I trust him
- 47:56Speaker 1: to get a young player like Luther Burden to stay
- 47:59Speaker 1: on the track.
- 48:00Speaker 2: That's the difference there. Young player. It's one thing to
- 48:02Speaker 2: talk about a twenty seven year old, you know, thirty
- 48:05Speaker 2: million dollars a year guy versus a rookie, especially guy
- 48:08Speaker 2: who has fallen in the draft.
- 48:10Speaker 1: I would just hope that Vrabel would look at it
- 48:13Speaker 1: that way and say, you know what, like I'll texta
- 48:16Speaker 1: this kid every single morning during the season to get
- 48:18Speaker 1: his butt in the facility and make sure that he's
- 48:20Speaker 1: on his p's and q's and make sure that we
- 48:22Speaker 1: have him ready to play and all those I would
- 48:25Speaker 1: just if I was able, I would just trust myself
- 48:27Speaker 1: to like raise a guy like.
- 48:28Speaker 2: He's also again, like I think it literally came down
- 48:32Speaker 2: to the production of the offense and his production. Don't
- 48:34Speaker 2: think it's any deeper than that. Drake may is a
- 48:37Speaker 2: much better quarterback than Brady Cook. And if you're drafting
- 48:40Speaker 2: Luther Burden in the top forty on this football team,
- 48:43Speaker 2: he should be one hundred and ten hundred and twenty
- 48:45Speaker 2: target guy. I'm not worried about him getting upset over
- 48:48Speaker 2: lack of targets, simply for the reason that if he
- 48:51Speaker 2: is a lack of targets, you screwed up. That's on
- 48:54Speaker 2: the team that guy. Like I've talked about certain receivers
- 48:57Speaker 2: maybe not being volume guys in this offense. Luther Burton's
- 49:00Speaker 2: one hundred and twenty target player if he's healthy in
- 49:02Speaker 2: New England. I'm not worried about him getting lack of
- 49:04Speaker 2: targets because I'm drafting him with the idea that I'm
- 49:07Speaker 2: going to feed him in the football constantly.
- 49:09Speaker 1: Yeah, so we're both still now on ten at four.
- 49:14Speaker 2: I'm not like a hard I'm a soft no.
- 49:16Speaker 1: It's so hard in this I kind of feel about it.
- 49:18Speaker 2: So I feel about Ted McMillan in the same way
- 49:20Speaker 2: I felt about Mason Grant before they added Milton Williams,
- 49:22Speaker 2: which was I don't think he'd be a bad pick,
- 49:25Speaker 2: but he's definitely not the best pick they can make.
- 49:26Speaker 1: Yeah, I agree with that. I think in this draft
- 49:29Speaker 1: it's so hard because all these guys.
- 49:31Speaker 2: There's out on anybody.
- 49:33Speaker 1: Yeah, there's positive and negatives about everybody, and it's it's
- 49:36Speaker 1: a it's not a perfect draft, not that any draft's perfect,
- 49:39Speaker 1: but it's really this one's really not a perfect draft.
- 49:41Speaker 1: So it's tough to be a hard no on anybody.
- 49:43Speaker 1: I mean, if I could understand it, but I think
- 49:46Speaker 1: that it's a risk if.
- 49:47Speaker 2: You're but they're all rich. Like this is why I
- 49:49Speaker 2: won't say I'm a no, because I think when you
- 49:51Speaker 2: say you're out on a player, you have to give
- 49:52Speaker 2: an alternative, right, So let's say, let's say we throw
- 49:56Speaker 2: that qualifyer again, Hunter and Carter off the board, right, Okay,
- 50:00Speaker 2: so you're out on Teed McMillan, you're out on Will Campbell? Like,
- 50:04Speaker 2: who are you in on? You have to have somebody
- 50:06Speaker 2: you're willing to pick.
- 50:07Speaker 1: Yeah, I have to pick somebody, as you like, right,
- 50:09Speaker 1: So who? So who?
- 50:09Speaker 2: If you're a no on Tech McMillan, who, I don't know? No,
- 50:13Speaker 2: you can't say you.
- 50:13Speaker 1: Don't know who would I pick? I would take Will Campbell,
- 50:16Speaker 1: but I said you wouldn't. But in this scenario, I
- 50:18Speaker 1: would take Will Campbell.
- 50:20Speaker 2: Okay, I thought you said you wouldn't take him before.
- 50:23Speaker 1: I said I would take him in that scenario.
- 50:25Speaker 2: Not projecting what they are, not projecting them. You you're
- 50:28Speaker 2: on the clock Hunter, and for this team, Hunter and
- 50:32Speaker 2: Carter are gone, and the trade isn't there. Nobody wants
- 50:36Speaker 2: to move up. You're just gonna let the clock run
- 50:41Speaker 2: out like the Minnesota Vikings and let somebody make the
- 50:42Speaker 2: decision for you.
- 50:43Speaker 1: I might.
- 50:44Speaker 2: Well, that's terrible.
- 50:45Speaker 1: It's a terrible spot to be in I'm.
- 50:47Speaker 2: Taking Campbell in that scenario, I feel great about it.
- 50:49Speaker 2: I'm probably taking can.
- 50:50Speaker 1: I guess I'm probably taking Campbell.
- 50:51Speaker 2: Like you, you can't just be out on everybody, is
- 50:53Speaker 2: my point. Yeah, I know you make a valid I
- 50:55Speaker 2: would take a long hard look at Tech McMillan. I
- 50:59Speaker 2: would take a long hard look at Tyler Warren. I
- 51:02Speaker 2: would still take a long hard look at Armond Membo. Honestly,
- 51:05Speaker 2: I really would. But I think, as that clock's mine
- 51:07Speaker 2: and I'm taking every second to try to make calls,
- 51:09Speaker 2: and realistically you'll probably get a trade. But I think
- 51:12Speaker 2: i'd end up taking Will Campbell if I was in
- 51:14Speaker 2: that situation, wouldn't feel good about it. And maybe I
- 51:17Speaker 2: don't know that there is a pick you're gonna feel
- 51:18Speaker 2: good about. But again, you're just gonna let the clock
- 51:20Speaker 2: run out, all right, you know what Jaguars you pick,
- 51:23Speaker 2: You make the decision for us, and then we'll just
- 51:25Speaker 2: take who's left. But you still might not like anybody.
- 51:27Speaker 2: You're gonna let the Raiders decide at what point. Honestly,
- 51:30Speaker 2: I'd feel pretty good about letting the Jets decide. Now,
- 51:32Speaker 2: I'd pick an eight. I'd pick an eight because whoever
- 51:34Speaker 2: the Jets take at seven is probably wrong. So you know,
- 51:36Speaker 2: whoever they leave is probably right.
- 51:38Speaker 1: It's a tough spot to be in.
- 51:39Speaker 2: It's not easy. It's not an easy draft. This is
- 51:41Speaker 2: a hard draft, and that that clip is gonna get
- 51:47Speaker 2: turned into me saying I think the Patriots should undoubtedly
- 51:49Speaker 2: take Will Campbell, but no, it's just an exercise.
- 51:52Speaker 1: I think the only thing I come back to with
- 51:53Speaker 1: Will Campbell then and then we can stop laboring this point.
- 51:57Speaker 1: The worst case scenario is that he's a really good guard. Yeah,
- 52:01Speaker 1: that's the worst case scenario. Whereas I think the worst
- 52:04Speaker 1: case scenario with a guy like Ted is that he
- 52:07Speaker 1: can't get open, right, Yeah, and that's that's really not good.
- 52:11Speaker 4: Right.
- 52:11Speaker 1: So like that, that, to me, I think is a
- 52:13Speaker 1: big difference. Uh, with those two players.
- 52:15Speaker 2: I don't know, somebody in the chat, this is a
- 52:17Speaker 2: good one, tough spot. I'm absolutely taking Campbell in that scenario.
- 52:21Speaker 2: Jihad Campbell, Oh my god.
- 52:23Speaker 5: No.
- 52:25Speaker 2: I think Jalen Walker is a better linebacker than Jehad
- 52:27Speaker 2: Campbell is. But that's another guy I would take a long,
- 52:30Speaker 2: hard look at. I do like John Campbell. I just
- 52:33Speaker 2: think Jalen Walker's little better.
- 52:34Speaker 1: Yeah, like if you you know, if you really don't
- 52:37Speaker 1: like those options, then you're you're going and you're you're
- 52:40Speaker 1: taking a defensive player with some tools, right, you know,
- 52:42Speaker 1: whether it's Jalen Walker, it's Mikel Williams, who, by the way,
- 52:45Speaker 1: Michael Williams, we haven't heard anything about his pro day.
- 52:48Speaker 1: There's like a forty time that got floated out there
- 52:50Speaker 1: that wasn't so great, and we haven't heard any other
- 52:52Speaker 1: testing numbers from this prod, which makes me worried that
- 52:55Speaker 1: that tells me that they weren't good.
- 52:56Speaker 2: They used to televise to Georgia Brodey.
- 52:58Speaker 1: If they were good. If Mikel william had this great
- 53:00Speaker 1: pro day, it's like Trayvon Walker esque pro day, we
- 53:02Speaker 1: would all know about it, right, Like those numbers would
- 53:04Speaker 1: be everywhere. He also didn't can participate in the combine.
- 53:08Speaker 1: I don't remember if there was an injury with him,
- 53:10Speaker 1: but like, I don't know if if Mikyle Williams was
- 53:12Speaker 1: this like a Donnis athlete that everybody thought. Shamar Stewart
- 53:16Speaker 1: is like another one of those guys. Right, they had
- 53:18Speaker 1: to blew up the combine. It's a tough spot to
- 53:21Speaker 1: be in.
- 53:21Speaker 2: All right, better hope somebody wants that pick.
- 53:24Speaker 1: I know, I know, We're coming up on another weekend

- 54:00Speaker 1: I'm a history of possibility. Plan your revolutionary weekend at
- 54:03Speaker 1: Massachusetts two fifty dot org. All right, I know you
- 54:06Speaker 1: guys have been waiting. Let's get to these phones. Patty
- 54:09Speaker 1: is an agoam. What's up, Patty?
- 54:11Speaker 2: It's up, Patty?
- 54:13Speaker 1: What is up?
- 54:14Speaker 2: Jen?
- 54:14Speaker 5: Hey?
- 54:14Speaker 1: How are we doing.
- 54:17Speaker 6: Doing all right?
- 54:17Speaker 7: Today? I had a point that I wanted to say,
- 54:20Speaker 7: and then I'm gonna end with a couple questions. So
- 54:24Speaker 7: the point I wanted to make was regarding the offensive
- 54:27Speaker 7: tackles to Alex. I know you say you'd prefer Ursery
- 54:30Speaker 7: over Connolly Junior.
- 54:32Speaker 8: I've done.
- 54:33Speaker 7: I'm a sick Oh, So I do like a lot
- 54:35Speaker 7: of like podcast listening reading on all these kids coming
- 54:39Speaker 7: out of college and I have, I mean I have
- 54:42Speaker 7: for like thirty plus years, right, So to me, just
- 54:47Speaker 7: from what I've gleaned, it looks like Ersery is more
- 54:50Speaker 7: of a plug and play guy. I mean, he could
- 54:52Speaker 7: start on the web side day one. Connery though, is
- 54:57Speaker 7: a little bit younger. I think he's only twenty one
- 55:00Speaker 7: and use a former running back and a former basketball player.
- 55:03Speaker 7: And it's a lot of the stuff that I'm reading
- 55:06Speaker 7: that I'm listening to says that he hasn't even hit
- 55:08Speaker 7: his floor, his potential floor yet as a target, I
- 55:13Speaker 7: mean as an offensive tackle. So just going by what
- 55:16Speaker 7: you guys said, like if you were to get someone
- 55:18Speaker 7: like Tyron Smith to be like a stop gap player,
- 55:25Speaker 7: a lot of these guys, like the PFF guys, Steve Belt,
- 55:30Speaker 7: I know he's not with them anymore, but Steve the
- 55:32Speaker 7: old guy from PFF. Yeah, they're saying that he could
- 55:35Speaker 7: be possibly the best franchise tackle out of the whole class,
- 55:40Speaker 7: and that's what that's kind of like, that's what I'm
- 55:43Speaker 7: looking for. And that's just my two cents on that.
- 55:47Speaker 7: So my two quick questions I have for you guys,
- 55:50Speaker 7: and these these are kind of thinkers. I can't even
- 55:53Speaker 7: like come up with them just in your guy's opinion.
- 55:55Speaker 7: The first one, who's the safer pick out of Tet
- 55:57Speaker 7: McMillan and Wild Campbell.
- 56:01Speaker 2: I think will Will Campbell because at very least you're
- 56:03Speaker 2: getting guard Yeah right, yep.
- 56:06Speaker 7: And I think the second question I had is, I
- 56:11Speaker 7: know I just kind of prefaced this what's talking about
- 56:13Speaker 7: Josh Connolly, but just in that same day, and I
- 56:18Speaker 7: think if Travis Hunter is there at four, TEP might
- 56:23Speaker 7: be more of a just a day one starter, plug
- 56:26Speaker 7: and play guy. You kind of see that between him
- 56:28Speaker 7: and Hunter because a lot of the stuff that I
- 56:30Speaker 7: hear in ridon Hunters that he's still rob like he's
- 56:33Speaker 7: still learning the position. I would take Hunter at four
- 56:36Speaker 7: and just kind of let him learn on the fly.
- 56:38Speaker 7: But I'd like to get your guys thoughts on that,
- 56:40Speaker 7: and I'll take it off the air. Guys are the best.
- 56:42Speaker 7: I'll talk to you next week.
- 56:43Speaker 1: Thanks, Patty. Yeah, I can understand, you know, some of
- 56:47Speaker 1: those people that think Hunter's kind of still developing as
- 56:50Speaker 1: a receiver, but I'm not taking him over.
- 56:53Speaker 2: Yeah. No, McMillan's obviously more developed at the position he's
- 56:56Speaker 2: been playing in his whole life. Flicker has never focused
- 56:58Speaker 2: full time on receiver. But the idea is once you
- 57:01Speaker 2: let him do that with his natural skills, he's gonna
- 57:04Speaker 2: truly progress at a rapid an exponential rate. So I'm
- 57:08Speaker 2: betting on the ceiling there. Like McMillan probably has a
- 57:11Speaker 2: slightly higher floor at wide receiver than Hunter, slightly higher floor,
- 57:15Speaker 2: but I think the ceiling for Hunters much much higher.
- 57:18Speaker 1: Yeah. I also I think Hunter's actually got some real
- 57:22Speaker 1: natural instincts for receiver, which I really was comes from
- 57:25Speaker 1: playing corner pretty surprised by in a way. Was. Yeah,
- 57:29Speaker 1: maybe there's some like technical stuff with like his release
- 57:32Speaker 1: in the top of the route and stuff like that
- 57:34Speaker 1: that he will need to develop with more time spent
- 57:37Speaker 1: on receiver, but he's got a really good feel for
- 57:39Speaker 1: play for running routes against zone coverage, like finding soft
- 57:42Speaker 1: spots and pockets and zones. He has a really good
- 57:46Speaker 1: field working off script with Shador Sanders and making himself
- 57:49Speaker 1: available for the quarterback and has a great motor just
- 57:52Speaker 1: like constantly trying to get open and constantly working himself open,
- 57:56Speaker 1: which would translate nicely to Drake May and then he's
- 57:59Speaker 1: got great ball skins. So like those things are just
- 58:02Speaker 1: natural abilities that when you watch him at receiver that
- 58:05Speaker 1: he just has innately already. So we can maybe get
- 58:10Speaker 1: bogged down by the fact that his footwork at the
- 58:13Speaker 1: top of the route could be a little bit more efficient,
- 58:14Speaker 1: or his hand fighting against man to man and press
- 58:17Speaker 1: could be a little bit better, but like those things
- 58:19Speaker 1: are gonna come when he plays a position more often
- 58:22Speaker 1: the things that he's innately good at are naturally good at.
- 58:26Speaker 1: Like that's his floor. That's like where you know, I
- 58:29Speaker 1: feel safe with him as a pick, So no, I
- 58:32Speaker 1: wouldn't really panic about that. But I'm with Josh Connerly,
- 58:36Speaker 1: Like I like the idea. Now, if you're telling me
- 58:40Speaker 1: that you feel like they need to sign Cam Robinson
- 58:42Speaker 1: as a one year bridge or even a half year
- 58:45Speaker 1: bridge just to coach up Connorly before you throw him
- 58:48Speaker 1: in there at left tackled, And I don't hate that plan,
- 58:52Speaker 1: but I'm with Patty. I'm taking the upside, like I'm
- 58:56Speaker 1: going for the guy that I think can be a
- 58:57Speaker 1: really high level left tackle. Give me the big mall.
- 59:00Speaker 1: All right, Marcus is in South Carolina. We get a
- 59:04Speaker 1: lot of calls from North Carolina, Marcus, but you're in
- 59:06Speaker 1: South Carolina.
- 59:08Speaker 9: Yes, yes, thank y'all for having me. I really enjoy
- 59:13Speaker 9: watching y'all, and y'all are the best endless out. It's
- 59:16Speaker 9: hard to cover this team, and y'all have a non
- 59:19Speaker 9: bitter perspective, so I really appreciate that.
- 59:23Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 59:23Speaker 9: But I wanted to ask about Trey Hares. You know,
- 59:29Speaker 9: Jackson Dart's getting a lot of love right now, and
- 59:32Speaker 9: I don't know, I don't know if people didn't watch
- 59:35Speaker 9: Old Miss every time Trey hair has played, Jackson Dart
- 59:38Speaker 9: looked really good.
- 59:39Speaker 8: I mean, I'm a.
- 59:40Speaker 9: Florida fan, and the one catch he had was a
- 59:43Speaker 9: touchdown for forty three yards. And I'll be interested to
- 59:46Speaker 9: hear thoughts about DJ Lagway once he gets close to
- 59:49Speaker 9: in the draft. But I just don't get why he's
- 59:54Speaker 9: not I get he's older and he's had some injuries,
- 59:56Speaker 9: but about a player who can come in and produce
- 59:59Speaker 9: right away. I wanted to get your thoughts on Trey
- 1:00:02Speaker 9: Harris and how y'all feel about him as a Patriot.
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: Yeah, thanks for the call, Marcus. Uh, he was a
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: recency bias from a guy at one point when I
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: was making.
- 1:00:11Speaker 2: My way out of the receiver. It's not your kind
- 1:00:13Speaker 2: of player.
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: I comped into Brandon Lafel like Crafty, a good route
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: runner for his size, can win at the catch point,
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: just not gonna run by you. You're not not particularly fast.
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: I think that's where some people have reservations with him,
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: is that he just doesn't have a whole lot of
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: bursts or speed down the field or after the catch.
- 1:00:32Speaker 2: So Day two Techncvillian, Yeah, he's kind of just.
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: Going to catch the ball at twelve thirteen yards and
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: go down Like that's kind of think what people are
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: a little concerned about with Trey Harris. But he's in
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: that group to me in day two, you know, maybe
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: just you know, from let's call it sixty to one
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: hundred that yea, you're gonna have a slew of receivers
- 1:00:51Speaker 1: go there, and I think Trey Harris is probably gonna
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: end up.
- 1:00:53Speaker 2: Somewhere higher than sixty. But yeah, like somewhere on do
- 1:00:57Speaker 2: you mean like forty to eighty.
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: I think he can go top fifty.
- 1:01:01Speaker 2: He could maybe, I mean if I don't know, I
- 1:01:04Speaker 2: don't know where teams are at with aomnor. But like
- 1:01:06Speaker 2: he's yeah, one of the next X guys up, got
- 1:01:08Speaker 2: more speed, I think so. Yeah, Trey Harris is a
- 1:01:11Speaker 2: solid player. So I think Jackson Dart's getting a little
- 1:01:14Speaker 2: too much love.
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: That's putting it nicely.
- 1:01:17Speaker 2: I will say to his other point, I do really
- 1:01:19Speaker 2: like DJ Lagway. I'm a big fan of DJ Lagway.
- 1:01:23Speaker 1: Yeah, I know you are. He's what next year to.
- 1:01:26Speaker 2: Know, he's a true freshman past two years or so,
- 1:01:29Speaker 2: he's twenty five, he's twenty twenty seven draft, So.
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: Start tanking now, Yeah, I mean not who else?
- 1:01:36Speaker 5: Is it? No?
- 1:01:37Speaker 2: Somebody else too? Who's the other quarterback? There's another really
- 1:01:39Speaker 2: good quarterback in that draft? And that's actually that draft's
- 1:01:41Speaker 2: gonna be unreal because it's gonna be Lagway, It's gonna
- 1:01:43Speaker 2: be Jeremiah Smith, it's gonna be Ryan Williams, it's gonna
- 1:01:46Speaker 2: be the guy, the Dylan Stewart from South Carolina, the
- 1:01:51Speaker 2: pass rusher. Yeah that this freshman class is unfreaking believable.
- 1:01:55Speaker 2: But I really like DJ Lagway. He's my kind of quarterback. Big.
- 1:02:00Speaker 2: I can throw it a mile, a ton of zip
- 1:02:02Speaker 2: on the ball, runs runs around. You're descrireless. Yeah, he's
- 1:02:06Speaker 2: he is kind of day oh. I mean, we'll see.
- 1:02:08Speaker 2: It's too early to see where he's at. He was
- 1:02:09Speaker 2: kind of up and down this year, but he didn't
- 1:02:11Speaker 2: get the starting reps in camp. That was Graham Mertz.
- 1:02:14Speaker 2: Graham Mertz is gone. So I'm looking forward to see
- 1:02:16Speaker 2: what he can do with a full year and hopefully
- 1:02:18Speaker 2: some better receivers because a lot of his receivers left.
- 1:02:20Speaker 2: But you know who actually his top receiver is gonna
- 1:02:22Speaker 2: be next year? You want you're ready to feel old
- 1:02:25Speaker 2: Eugene Wilson, the third, the third, well, the one who
- 1:02:29Speaker 2: played here was j So his son, uh and DJ Lagways.
- 1:02:34Speaker 2: So we'll talk about him for the Pats next year.
- 1:02:36Speaker 2: He'll be draft eligible next year. Eugene Wilson's son. Imagine
- 1:02:39Speaker 2: if they ended and imagine they ended up with the
- 1:02:41Speaker 2: same team, ended up with the Sante Samuel and Eugene Wilson.
- 1:02:45Speaker 2: But one's a receiver now, so they'd be running, you know,
- 1:02:47Speaker 2: against each other.
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: Just throw Jason Taylor's son in there. Too, and then
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: you have like an.
- 1:02:50Speaker 2: All but Mason Taylor didn't play here.
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, but it's like an age.
- 1:02:54Speaker 2: I get what you're saying.
- 1:02:55Speaker 1: Two thousands reunion.
- 1:02:57Speaker 2: We're getting there.
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: Who else?
- 1:02:59Speaker 5: Uh?
- 1:03:00Speaker 2: I think Chad Pennington's son is playing college football? So
- 1:03:03Speaker 2: my god is in the FBS.
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: Sold all right, So that's the mcnabs kid. Just just think, yeah,
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: all right, Chris is in Allentown. What's up, Chris.
- 1:03:14Speaker 2: Chad Pennington's son is at Marshall Bellow makes sense?
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: Chris?
- 1:03:19Speaker 2: You there?
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: Oh yeah, go for it.
- 1:03:23Speaker 5: Thank you guys for taking my call. That's my first
- 1:03:25Speaker 5: time calling in. Usually I have to catch this on
- 1:03:26Speaker 5: the podcast afterwards.
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: Love it.
- 1:03:28Speaker 2: Thanks appreciating going.
- 1:03:30Speaker 5: So my question is, since it's the time of year
- 1:03:32Speaker 5: for hypotheticals, if something weird happens at the top of
- 1:03:35Speaker 5: the draft, Let's say Carter falls to us at four,
- 1:03:38Speaker 5: or they fall in love with Ashton genty, or we
- 1:03:41Speaker 5: trip on the way up to the stage and don't
- 1:03:43Speaker 5: get to pick somebody.
- 1:03:44Speaker 8: We go past the.
- 1:03:45Speaker 5: Fourth overall pick and we don't have either a receiver
- 1:03:48Speaker 5: or a tackle because we had to take someone else.
- 1:03:53Speaker 5: Now we're looking at that that second tier trading up
- 1:03:55Speaker 5: into the end of this end of the first beginning
- 1:03:57Speaker 5: of the second for these guys, which is the bigger
- 1:04:01Speaker 5: drop off from your you know, your thirties to your sixties,
- 1:04:06Speaker 5: either wide receiver or tackle.
- 1:04:09Speaker 2: Tackle.
- 1:04:09Speaker 1: Yeah, I would probably say tackle too. Thanks for the call, Chris. Yeah,
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: after Ursery, I think is probably the one in my
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: mind would probably I guess Simmons with the injury maybe,
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: but after that group goes, you know, Connorlycery Simmons, After
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: that group goes, I mean, who is the next true tackle,
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: Like not Wyatt Milam, who's gonna move inside the guard?
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: But like, is it Belton? It might be Belton.
- 1:04:32Speaker 2: I mean, there's one more guy in there at Am missing.
- 1:04:34Speaker 1: Because it's all because that's all that that group of
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: Wyatt Milam, Gray Zabel, Donovan Jackson from Ohio State, all
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: those guys are probably gonna play guard.
- 1:04:45Speaker 2: Oh, I guess it would be one of the true
- 1:04:48Speaker 2: right tackles would be Cameron Williams or Emery Jones.
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: I think I think both those guys might play guard too,
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: especially Emery Jones. Emery Jones's tape it right tackles.
- 1:04:56Speaker 2: Yeah, so then it would Yeah, I think you're probably
- 1:04:59Speaker 2: between Belton Pillow. I know some people like Logan Brown
- 1:05:04Speaker 2: from Kansas. Yeah, I put him another step down. He
- 1:05:06Speaker 2: got kicked what he got in a fight with the teammate. Yeah, yeah, Yeah,
- 1:05:09Speaker 2: it's probably Belton or Trapillo, depending on what you're looking for.
- 1:05:12Speaker 2: What you like.
- 1:05:13Speaker 1: That's not a great, that's not good.
- 1:05:15Speaker 2: Those are not definitely not day one starters, might not
- 1:05:18Speaker 2: be year one starters. I like Belton, I like his upside.
- 1:05:20Speaker 2: Trapillo is an interesting prospect too. I'm not expecting you
- 1:05:23Speaker 2: those guys to start early on.
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: Yeah. It it's not a deep tackle class, and I
- 1:05:29Speaker 1: think this is you know, we've talked about this in
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: the past, but because you don't have the all it's
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: the Fashanos. The figwas, uh, those guys bumping down the
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: next tier like you did last year where you had
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: that Kingsley, Sue Mattier, Roger and Patrick Paul tier. That
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: tier doesn't really exist in this draft because all those
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: guys are going higher, right, So this is a tough
- 1:05:52Speaker 1: one in terms of tackle outside the top forty. I
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: think it really drops off after that.
- 1:05:56Speaker 2: If they miss Uneursery and Connery, like they're not. Venerian
- 1:06:01Speaker 2: Lowe's a candidate to start week one next year, Like
- 1:06:03Speaker 2: that's it probably strong candidate to start week one next year,
- 1:06:07Speaker 2: because I don't know where else you're getting somebody. You
- 1:06:09Speaker 2: might bring in somebody later on who competes with them,
- 1:06:11Speaker 2: and maybe like Belton really pops on the left side,
- 1:06:13Speaker 2: but that's an open competition in camp. One hundred percent. Yeah,
- 1:06:17Speaker 2: So if if they get by thirty eight and they
- 1:06:20Speaker 2: even taken a tackle, they're not they had they didn't
- 1:06:23Speaker 2: address the need.
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: There's a lot of receivers in my mind in every draft, yeah,
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: and this draft. I know that people are down on
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: the receiver class this year, especially at the top. I
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: don't think the league is too a gung ho about
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: the receiver class either, but I always feel like to
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: know some of those Day two guys, a couple are
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: gonna hit. And maybe I'm not saying that they're gonna
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: be Lad McConkie or be like stars, you know, but
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: a couple of them will be viable NFL receivers. You know,
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: caller called in about Trey Harris, you know, right, Jack
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: Betch from TCU, you know those types of guys. One
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: of those guys is gonna be a good player. Maybe
- 1:06:58Speaker 1: a couple.
- 1:06:58Speaker 2: Just see Steve Smith thinks that Jack bet should play tight.
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: End, Well, I would assume he plays big slot. Like,
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: so we're kind of splitting hairs right, Like he's gonna
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: be an inside predominantly receiver. If you want to call
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: him like a move tight end instead of receiver, then
- 1:07:11Speaker 1: it we're kind of yeah, we're in semantics land there.
- 1:07:14Speaker 1: But uh Jack Betch Trey Harris, I you man or
- 1:07:20Speaker 1: I don't know exactly where he's gonna end up. He
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: might go a little bit higher than than you know
- 1:07:24Speaker 1: that third round projection, if you will. I mean, there's
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: other guys I can't think of off the top of
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: my head, but I don't hate any of those guys.
- 1:07:31Speaker 1: Like I think, like, where's Jalen Noel gonna go? You know,
- 1:07:34Speaker 1: he's probably gonna go second round. You know, I think
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: he's a good player. Uh Higgins is probably gonna go
- 1:07:38Speaker 1: second round too, He's a good player. Uh. Ted Johnson
- 1:07:41Speaker 1: is probably gonna go undrafted. I'm just kidding. I don't
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: know where Ted Johnson is gonna go. I know you
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: want we want to talk about outliers. Yeah, that that
- 1:07:50Speaker 1: that's fair. Okay, So this is a good question. I
- 1:07:57Speaker 1: don't know if we've I addressed directly. Yeah, maybe we have.
- 1:08:02Speaker 1: But Andrew and Lincoln is a long time listener, so
- 1:08:06Speaker 1: he just emailed us asking about Will Campbell versus Peter Skaransky,
- 1:08:11Speaker 1: because obviously Rabel drafted Scronsky. It was his last first
- 1:08:14Speaker 1: round pick in Tennessee. Uh. In the first round, they
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: drafted Skoransky and immediately moved Skronsky inside the guard. It
- 1:08:21Speaker 1: wasn't even a conversation about it.
- 1:08:22Speaker 2: They guard.
- 1:08:23Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, they wasn't even a conversation. He played college tackle.
- 1:08:27Speaker 1: Skronsky's a little shorter. Yeah, his arms are a little
- 1:08:30Speaker 1: bit shorter. I don't think that he moves as well
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: as Will Campbell. Will Campbell is an excellent athlete. But
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: all in all, I can understand where the emailer is
- 1:08:39Speaker 1: coming from. That aren't aren't those guys kind of similar?
- 1:08:42Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 1:08:42Speaker 1: And in one way, if you want to be predictive
- 1:08:45Speaker 1: about it, it kind of says, okay, well that's a
- 1:08:48Speaker 1: Rabel guy, right, if you want to look at it
- 1:08:50Speaker 1: that way. The other way to look at it is
- 1:08:53Speaker 1: Rabel's gonna think Will Campbell's guard, right, because he thought
- 1:08:56Speaker 1: Skoransky is a guard. Do do you see any comparisons
- 1:08:59Speaker 1: there with Skansky and Campbell.
- 1:09:02Speaker 2: I mean, obviously a little bit, but no, I think
- 1:09:05Speaker 2: Skoransky everybody kind of knew he wasn't the He was
- 1:09:09Speaker 2: a good tackle, he was not the level of tackle
- 1:09:12Speaker 2: Will Campbell was. I've said this in the lead up
- 1:09:14Speaker 2: to the arm measurement, right, if he comes in under
- 1:09:16Speaker 2: thirty three, it's about asking yourself, do you believe he
- 1:09:20Speaker 2: is a special kind of talent that he can be
- 1:09:22Speaker 2: a trend breaker and reset the margin. Skoransky's good. I
- 1:09:25Speaker 2: don't think anybody ever believed Skorroansky was that level of player,
- 1:09:30Speaker 2: that he was going to be this generational talent where
- 1:09:33Speaker 2: he could offset, especially how short his arms are. Campbe's
- 1:09:37Speaker 2: a little closer. I also think he's above thirty two
- 1:09:40Speaker 2: and five eighths. Just the whole thing with the combine
- 1:09:42Speaker 2: measurements versus the Senior Bowl and Shrine Bowl measurements. The
- 1:09:46Speaker 2: fact that the Senior Bowl and Shrine Bowl are similar,
- 1:09:49Speaker 2: and the combine it's like an equal outlier from those two.
- 1:09:53Speaker 2: So did the Senior Bowl and Shrine Bowl both get
- 1:09:55Speaker 2: the measurements equally wrong? I STI don't think Campbell's thirty three,
- 1:09:58Speaker 2: but I think he's probably closer thirty thirty two and
- 1:10:00Speaker 2: seven eighths.
- 1:10:01Speaker 1: Yeah, maybe he that thirty two and seven eighth number
- 1:10:03Speaker 1: that's been out there, Yeah, more accurate.
- 1:10:05Speaker 2: So I I mean, I understand it's it's the same,
- 1:10:10Speaker 2: like I it's similar. I understand where that comp's coming from.
- 1:10:12Speaker 2: But I think the situations are different enough. I if
- 1:10:16Speaker 2: anything you know is able, maybe looking at it, like
- 1:10:18Speaker 2: we'll try him at tackle the worst case scenario like
- 1:10:21Speaker 2: Skeronsky's the worst case scenario for him with Campbell more
- 1:10:25Speaker 2: than I guess, like a blueprint.
- 1:10:26Speaker 1: I think I think Campbell's a better player than Scar Yeah,
- 1:10:28Speaker 1: oh yeah, I think he was a better player. But yeah,
- 1:10:32Speaker 1: I can see the comparison. All right. Alexander has two
- 1:10:35Speaker 1: good questions. I want to start with this one first, though,
- 1:10:38Speaker 1: is actually his second question, because I have to get
- 1:10:41Speaker 1: your take on the mock draft heard around the world
- 1:10:44Speaker 1: by Mike so awesome Ashton Genty fourth overall, but before
- 1:10:48Speaker 1: we talk about the Patriots and Ashen Denty, Alexander thinks
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: that the Giants at three overall could take Ashton Genty
- 1:10:56Speaker 1: to replace Saquon Barkley. And I got it that that's
- 1:11:00Speaker 1: not gonna happen.
- 1:11:01Speaker 2: Not if they don't have a quarterback. Maybe if they
- 1:11:03Speaker 2: get Rogers.
- 1:11:04Speaker 1: But if Joe Shane wasn't willing to pay Sakwon Barkley
- 1:11:07Speaker 1: because he doesn't believe in running backs, why would he
- 1:11:10Speaker 1: draft a running backs?
- 1:11:11Speaker 2: And he learned his lesson because he's getting meaned to
- 1:11:13Speaker 2: death on the internet. That's why I'm all for that.
- 1:11:16Speaker 2: Take Ashon gent at three, I'd be great. I love
- 1:11:19Speaker 2: Mike's mantra. Ultimately the point of Mack drafts, which people forget. Yeah,
- 1:11:23Speaker 2: it's so it's two prong it's predictive, but it's also
- 1:11:28Speaker 2: like the exercise. The way I view it is it's
- 1:11:30Speaker 2: just a tool to help teach people about the prospects
- 1:11:35Speaker 2: in the draft. That's why I usually try to avoid
- 1:11:38Speaker 2: because I'll do three Patriots mock drafts and three NFL
- 1:11:42Speaker 2: mock drafts, so I make six first round picks for
- 1:11:44Speaker 2: the Patriots and make every other pick three times. I
- 1:11:47Speaker 2: try my best to avoid repeating players so that I
- 1:11:52Speaker 2: get people informed on as many players as possible as
- 1:11:54Speaker 2: many situations. Right, all right, so if they go this
- 1:11:56Speaker 2: position at the top, now what's next? Blah blah, blah,
- 1:12:00Speaker 2: Drake May and I think just about every one. I
- 1:12:02Speaker 2: think I had one Patriots one for Jane and Daniels
- 1:12:03Speaker 2: last year, but that was different. It was a unique scenario.
- 1:12:08Speaker 2: So what would it look like. It's part of the exercise.
- 1:12:10Speaker 2: We're just doing scenarios like we did before. Right, Hunter
- 1:12:13Speaker 2: and car both off the board, phones dead, no trades? Right,
- 1:12:17Speaker 2: who are you tay? Will that happen? I don't know.
- 1:12:18Speaker 2: What's an exercise? This is all about playing out different scenarios.
- 1:12:22Speaker 2: What if the Patriots just think there's a real chance
- 1:12:24Speaker 2: I've said this that, regardless of positional value, Ashton Genty
- 1:12:29Speaker 2: is the best football player on the board when the
- 1:12:31Speaker 2: Patriots are picking it for What if they just look
- 1:12:34Speaker 2: at that and say, it's as simple as that. Will
- 1:12:36Speaker 2: that happen? I doubt it? Should it happen? Probably not,
- 1:12:40Speaker 2: But let's play out the scenario. Let's learn something. The
- 1:12:43Speaker 2: crazier thing was Ursery getting all the way to sixty eight.
- 1:12:46Speaker 1: Okay, I'm more probably we discussed that. That's a side
- 1:12:50Speaker 1: note obviously to the Jesse thing.
- 1:12:53Speaker 2: You know, but you know what, my he got people
- 1:12:55Speaker 2: worked up. He had some fun with it. It's it's
- 1:12:57Speaker 2: supposed to be fun. This is all supposed to be
- 1:12:59Speaker 2: fun and have some fun with it, and good for
- 1:13:02Speaker 2: Mike for having fun.
- 1:13:02Speaker 1: We lose the plot on that a little bit. This
- 1:13:04Speaker 1: is all supposed to just be.
- 1:13:07Speaker 2: The plot on it. I love having fun with this stuff.
- 1:13:09Speaker 1: I think the biggest argument for Ashton Genty is the
- 1:13:13Speaker 1: one you just made. If you truly feel like he
- 1:13:15Speaker 1: is the best football player on the board, then you
- 1:13:18Speaker 1: could make the argument. And we sat here and said,
- 1:13:22Speaker 1: it's a tough spot to be in if if Hunter
- 1:13:24Speaker 1: and Carter are off the board, because it's like who
- 1:13:27Speaker 1: do you take? Who do you take? At that point
- 1:13:29Speaker 1: that being said, what I keep coming back to with
- 1:13:32Speaker 1: Ashton Genty because I'm a nerd and I can't get
- 1:13:34Speaker 1: the positional value out of my head. I just I
- 1:13:38Speaker 1: find it the path to making Ashton Genty work that pick,
- 1:13:44Speaker 1: make him work to be hard.
- 1:13:47Speaker 2: For this team. Yes, I agree with you. Let me
- 1:13:50Speaker 2: ask you this. Let's how all right, let's say, and
- 1:13:54Speaker 2: we're kind of idealizing things here. They sign Cam Robinson
- 1:13:59Speaker 2: and they go receiver with their first pick, whether it's
- 1:14:02Speaker 2: tet or they move back and they get Burden or
- 1:14:05Speaker 2: they get Golden Right. Yeah, So you have a left tackle,
- 1:14:08Speaker 2: you have a receiver. Okay, moving up to three whatever
- 1:14:13Speaker 2: you want to call it, Amari and Hampton.
- 1:14:17Speaker 1: That's the other part about this to be that I
- 1:14:19Speaker 1: can't wrap my head around with Genty, Not to tease
- 1:14:21Speaker 1: Mike anymore than I did yesterday, but it's such a
- 1:14:24Speaker 1: great running back class.
- 1:14:26Speaker 2: That's my biggest part.
- 1:14:27Speaker 1: So like is the drop off from Genty to Amarion
- 1:14:30Speaker 1: Hampton to the second day two guys like it's it's
- 1:14:34Speaker 1: so much you can find what they need, well, somebody
- 1:14:37Speaker 1: to push Formandra Stevenson, like Rmandra Stevens is not a scrub.
- 1:14:40Speaker 1: I know he had a bad year last year, but
- 1:14:42Speaker 1: he's not a scrub.
- 1:14:42Speaker 2: The drop off from Genty to Hampton is significant, but
- 1:14:48Speaker 2: that's more about genty being this rare prospect than it
- 1:14:51Speaker 2: is about any of the other guys. You're right, if
- 1:14:54Speaker 2: you're just trying to get a guy who's gonna push
- 1:14:56Speaker 2: Stevenson and and fill in, you know, give you a
- 1:14:59Speaker 2: really solid number two. At least you can get that
- 1:15:03Speaker 2: guy early on day three. Frankly, if you want to go.
- 1:15:05Speaker 1: To twenty of those guys in this draft.
- 1:15:07Speaker 2: That might be a little high. There's it's probably closer
- 1:15:10Speaker 2: to ten.
- 1:15:10Speaker 1: There's probably it's like legit like legitimately gonna.
- 1:15:15Speaker 2: Right, But draft well running back does not mean is
- 1:15:17Speaker 2: gonna push Ramondre Stevenson for the starting.
- 1:15:19Speaker 1: Job third or fourth round. I can. If they take
- 1:15:22Speaker 1: one at seventy seven, I'm not gonna kill him for it.
- 1:15:24Speaker 1: Depends on who it is. But if they take one
- 1:15:26Speaker 1: at seventy seven, I'm not gonna kill him for it.
- 1:15:27Speaker 1: If they take one at one of six, I'm.
- 1:15:29Speaker 2: Not gonna If they take one at seventy seven, my
- 1:15:31Speaker 2: guess is it's Dylan Samson from Tennessee, who is a
- 1:15:34Speaker 2: well rounded back, a really good in space, and that's
- 1:15:38Speaker 2: he'd be a good complimentary player to Stevenson because he's
- 1:15:42Speaker 2: he's a little better catching the football and he plays
- 1:15:44Speaker 2: in that widespread Tennessee offense. So they were so good
- 1:15:47Speaker 2: at getting him one on one with defenders. So if
- 1:15:49Speaker 2: you're gonna run some of that outside stuff that McDaniel's
- 1:15:52Speaker 2: runs right as a counter to pounding the ball with Stevenson,
- 1:15:55Speaker 2: you can get him one on one with slock corners
- 1:15:57Speaker 2: in safety.
- 1:15:58Speaker 1: Safety.
- 1:15:58Speaker 2: Yeah, he's gonna be really good in the The other
- 1:16:00Speaker 2: guy at seventy seven would be Cam Scatabo.
- 1:16:03Speaker 1: Who who's picking up some steam again.
- 1:16:05Speaker 2: Picking up a lot of steam. He So that's my
- 1:16:08Speaker 2: day two Ashton Genty. Honestly, well there's two day two
- 1:16:11Speaker 2: act their second round ash and Genty is quinch On Judkins,
- 1:16:15Speaker 2: and third round ash and genty or fringe top one hundred,
- 1:16:18Speaker 2: ash and genty is Cam Scadrow. The only reason Cam
- 1:16:21Speaker 2: Scadbow is not gonna be a top fifty pick, there's
- 1:16:23Speaker 2: two reasons. Late breakout player and he's twenty gonna be
- 1:16:26Speaker 2: twenty three, twenty four year old rookie, but his skill
- 1:16:29Speaker 2: set and he is underrated as a receiver. Do not
- 1:16:32Speaker 2: everybody wants to call him Mike Alstott, Do not sleep
- 1:16:34Speaker 2: on how good Cam Scatabo is in the passing game.
- 1:16:36Speaker 1: Don't do it nothing.
- 1:16:38Speaker 2: Don't do the same with genty, But he'd be he'd
- 1:16:41Speaker 2: be an interesting pick at seventy seven two.
- 1:16:44Speaker 1: It makes a total sense to me that Scamp Cam
- 1:16:47Speaker 1: Scattaboo is picking up this late steam because this is
- 1:16:50Speaker 1: when the coaches get involved. Yep, right, So now all
- 1:16:53Speaker 1: of the they met with the common Rabels and the
- 1:16:56Speaker 1: Jim Harbaughs, and like all these guys are like that's
- 1:16:59Speaker 1: just a football play, and I just want that guy on.
- 1:17:02Speaker 1: I want to go to war with that dude, right,
- 1:17:04Speaker 1: Like that's what they're all saying.
- 1:17:05Speaker 2: You can rally baby.
- 1:17:06Speaker 1: So the scouts are all saying, yeah, but he's he's
- 1:17:09Speaker 1: not very fast, and like, you.
- 1:17:10Speaker 2: Know, he's not very fast.
- 1:17:11Speaker 1: He's not very big, and he's not he's kind of old,
- 1:17:14Speaker 1: and like.
- 1:17:15Speaker 2: He's not tall. He is thick, he's got the muscle,
- 1:17:18Speaker 2: he's thick with two seas. Yeah.
- 1:17:20Speaker 1: But then these coaches come in and they're like, but
- 1:17:22Speaker 1: he's a football player, like he's tough, and we're gonna
- 1:17:25Speaker 1: build a run game around him and we're gonna run
- 1:17:27Speaker 1: it down people's throats. And then the scouts are like, yeah,
- 1:17:30Speaker 1: but like he's not really very athletic, and they're like no, no, no, no,
- 1:17:35Speaker 1: Like it's.
- 1:17:35Speaker 2: You don't need to run over guys. I give you
- 1:17:38Speaker 2: one more running back. Take look on it. You'll actually
- 1:17:40Speaker 2: like this one. So it was reported last week that
- 1:17:44Speaker 2: the Patriots met with e Equavius Marks Woody Marks from
- 1:17:47Speaker 2: USC at the USC Pro Day Day three pick. He's
- 1:17:52Speaker 2: probably gonna be somewhere. He'll sneak in the top two hundred.
- 1:17:54Speaker 2: It will be like one fifty two hundred range. Uh.
- 1:17:57Speaker 2: Woody Marks is one of the best pure pass catching
- 1:18:01Speaker 2: backs in this draft, so you know, the do it
- 1:18:02Speaker 2: all guys like Jeni and Scatabo like a guy you're
- 1:18:05Speaker 2: going to throw the football to. He's one of the
- 1:18:07Speaker 2: best receiving backs in this draft. Not a guy you're
- 1:18:10Speaker 2: probably gonna hand the ball off to a ton not
- 1:18:12Speaker 2: great in between the tackles, a little bit on the
- 1:18:14Speaker 2: smaller side, doesn't necessarily have that great burst, but he
- 1:18:18Speaker 2: is a mismatch in the past game. Am I reading
- 1:18:22Speaker 2: too much into it to look at that meeting and
- 1:18:25Speaker 2: say we're going back to early down passing down backs
- 1:18:28Speaker 2: and no more splitting by drive, no more splitting by fatigue.
- 1:18:31Speaker 2: It's gonna be Ramandre Stevenson, you know, early on, and
- 1:18:34Speaker 2: then when you get into those third downs, when you
- 1:18:35Speaker 2: get in those two minutes, it's the James White role
- 1:18:37Speaker 2: essentially what I'm talking about. Yeah, and it doesn't have
- 1:18:40Speaker 2: to be Woody marx Well. Quinn Allen from Sarah Jus
- 1:18:42Speaker 2: is another guy I really like. Brischard Smith from SMU
- 1:18:46Speaker 2: is a converted wide receiver. Maybe it's Antonio Gibson. Maybe
- 1:18:49Speaker 2: they're meeting with guys, But it's Antonio Gibson in the building,
- 1:18:51Speaker 2: another converted wide receiver, but like Woody Marks, he's I'm
- 1:18:56Speaker 2: not comping him to James whe because James Waite's an
- 1:18:58Speaker 2: unbelievable player, but like when I look at him, that's
- 1:19:01Speaker 2: the guy they would have drafted five years ago to
- 1:19:02Speaker 2: be in that role. You're not drafting him to hand
- 1:19:05Speaker 2: the ball off to him from under center. You're drafting
- 1:19:07Speaker 2: him to throw him the football. Am I reading too
- 1:19:09Speaker 2: much into that and saying maybe this is a sign
- 1:19:11Speaker 2: the running back mix is coming back.
- 1:19:13Speaker 1: No, not not totally. And I would also just say schematically,
- 1:19:18Speaker 1: if they want Drake may Or, I should say, if
- 1:19:21Speaker 1: Drake may wants to play in the gun predominantly and
- 1:19:24Speaker 1: he's not as comfortable under center, yeah, and they're going
- 1:19:27Speaker 1: to be more of a spread offense, then you need
- 1:19:30Speaker 1: like a scap back like you're Remondre. I don't think
- 1:19:33Speaker 1: is a great fit for that type of offense. You
- 1:19:36Speaker 1: want to spread back at that point, it's got some
- 1:19:38Speaker 1: speed and got some wiggle. You mentioned the kid from
- 1:19:41Speaker 1: SMU Bishard Smith, right, Smithy, Yeah, I think Smith. I
- 1:19:46Speaker 1: like Smith a lot like explosive guy. Right, He's He's
- 1:19:48Speaker 1: one of those guys that when he gets a creased,
- 1:19:50Speaker 1: he's gonna be like, he's gonna be gone. Like Quinn
- 1:19:53Speaker 1: Allen is really highly regarded for his ability to and
- 1:19:56Speaker 1: blitz pick up.
- 1:19:57Speaker 2: He's an unreal blocker.
- 1:19:59Speaker 1: Probably the best blocker in the class. So he's one
- 1:20:02Speaker 1: side is just the best at everything.
- 1:20:05Speaker 2: Yes, yes he is. I'm not joking. He's maybe not
- 1:20:08Speaker 2: straight line speed. Outside of that, he might be so,
- 1:20:12Speaker 2: but Quinn Allen.
- 1:20:13Speaker 1: Quinn Allen a Day three guy probably that the range.
- 1:20:18Speaker 1: I think there's a handful of those guys. There's one
- 1:20:20Speaker 1: where I'll look it up. I can't think of off
- 1:20:22Speaker 1: the top of my head. For Smith quinn Allen, I
- 1:20:26Speaker 1: want to say like Virginia Tech or something like that.
- 1:20:28Speaker 2: So base shall Tutton too. Yes, so he's not he
- 1:20:33Speaker 2: has like the physical tools, yeah, but he's not as
- 1:20:37Speaker 2: developed as like a route runner. Also, he has big
- 1:20:40Speaker 2: time ball security issues both fumbles and like drops. So
- 1:20:44Speaker 2: that's you need to be more reliable in that position.
- 1:20:47Speaker 2: To me, he he I would almost compare him more so. Again,
- 1:20:51Speaker 2: they had the early down passing down and people kind
- 1:20:53Speaker 2: of turned that into big and physical, small and fast. Yeah,
- 1:20:58Speaker 2: there are small and fast running backs who aren't good receivers,
- 1:21:02Speaker 2: which generally their early down backs were Antoine Smith, Garrett Blunt, right,
- 1:21:07Speaker 2: Stephen Ridley, like Damian Harris, these bruisers. They did have
- 1:21:10Speaker 2: a couple early down backs during the run who were
- 1:21:13Speaker 2: the smaller, quicker guys. Lewis, Dean Lewis. Yeah, you see going,
- 1:21:17Speaker 2: I Toutton to me is more in the Deon Lewis
- 1:21:19Speaker 2: mold than he is the James White molt. I love
- 1:21:22Speaker 2: people think Dean Lewis is a receiving back day Like
- 1:21:24Speaker 2: never threw him the ball. You didn't really need to.
- 1:21:27Speaker 2: He was really good.
- 1:21:27Speaker 1: That's twenty fifteen. Dion Lewis was like some of the
- 1:21:30Speaker 1: best running.
- 1:21:31Speaker 2: He was the play in Dallas where he like ducks
- 1:21:34Speaker 2: under the two defenders and Cory Dylon you know yea
- 1:21:39Speaker 2: three h four.
- 1:21:41Speaker 1: And then Deon Lewis in twenty fifteen before he got hurt.
- 1:21:44Speaker 1: He was he was so that That's where I put
- 1:21:47Speaker 1: on some good years in there.
- 1:21:48Speaker 2: I'd put toutt more in that group than I would
- 1:21:51Speaker 2: in the James White group.
- 1:21:52Speaker 1: I like that group, Deon Lewis group.
- 1:21:55Speaker 2: The other guy a receiver were you thinking of Marcus
- 1:21:57Speaker 2: Yarns from Delaware. Yeah, he fits in that group.
- 1:21:59Speaker 1: So that's the receiving back tutorial. Yeah, I'm not gonna
- 1:22:06Speaker 1: try to blow you away too much here. Not the
- 1:22:07Speaker 1: first round. Yeah, probably wouldn't take him a running back
- 1:22:10Speaker 1: in the second round either, but running back in the
- 1:22:12Speaker 1: middle rounds is totally in play. I'm totally cool.
- 1:22:15Speaker 2: I'm all for that.
- 1:22:15Speaker 1: I order fourth round running back, sign me up.
- 1:22:18Speaker 2: I would do that, you know, whether it's one of
- 1:22:20Speaker 2: the guys talked about, I'll throw Kyle Mnongai in there.
- 1:22:22Speaker 2: I feel like this is their shot to get right
- 1:22:24Speaker 2: on Missus and Isaiah and Pacheco. Similar player who also,
- 1:22:27Speaker 2: by the way, uh knows the mccardy's and has spoken
- 1:22:29Speaker 2: with the McCarty's Rutgers guy. But like if they I
- 1:22:33Speaker 2: know people want them to draft somebody to push Stevenson.
- 1:22:36Speaker 2: I'm kind of like he had it down here. He
- 1:22:38Speaker 2: was overworked. I think diminishing his workload would help. If
- 1:22:41Speaker 2: they get a guy like le Quinn Allen or Woody
- 1:22:44Speaker 2: Marx in the middle of day three, and that's the
- 1:22:46Speaker 2: big addition, and they're gonna go back to splitting the
- 1:22:49Speaker 2: carry Situationally that would be enough for me.
- 1:22:51Speaker 1: I just they need more offense, they need more playmakers.
- 1:22:56Speaker 5: It is.
- 1:22:58Speaker 1: What's allowing me to overlook my hatred for running backs
- 1:23:03Speaker 1: is that it's such a great class. Yeah, that you're
- 1:23:06Speaker 1: really it's really a great marriage between They have a
- 1:23:12Speaker 1: little bit of a need there and you're leaning into
- 1:23:15Speaker 1: a strength of the class. Right, So you're getting two
- 1:23:18Speaker 1: for the price of one in that respect, and I
- 1:23:20Speaker 1: don't think you should be passing up on that. I
- 1:23:22Speaker 1: feel that way about defensive line. I want a defensive
- 1:23:25Speaker 1: lineman at some point in this draft. I don't necessarily
- 1:23:27Speaker 1: need it to be the first round, but at some point,
- 1:23:29Speaker 1: I would say in their first four picks, right, their
- 1:23:33Speaker 1: top one fifty picks, I would like a defensive lineman.
- 1:23:36Speaker 1: I like a running back, and if they can fit
- 1:23:38Speaker 1: it in, I would like a tight end, you know,
- 1:23:40Speaker 1: if that's possible. I just think these classes are just
- 1:23:42Speaker 1: too good at those three spots for the Patriots to
- 1:23:45Speaker 1: sit back and not take anybody in those three positions.
- 1:23:48Speaker 1: So I am surprisingly for a running back. How about that?
- 1:23:52Speaker 1: I like it? Do you like that? I also like
- 1:23:55Speaker 1: bud light because it's easy to drink, eat to enjoy
- 1:23:58Speaker 1: bud Light, the official beer spawns of the New England Patriots.
- 1:24:01Speaker 1: All right, we got a few more calls, a couple
- 1:24:03Speaker 1: of emails, and then I do want to go over
- 1:24:05Speaker 1: some of the I know you love the rule proposals
- 1:24:08Speaker 1: that we have, so we can go over some of
- 1:24:09Speaker 1: those as well. Here to wrap up the show. But
- 1:24:13Speaker 1: Eldred is in North Carolina? What's up, Eldred? Nice?
- 1:24:19Speaker 5: Right?
- 1:24:20Speaker 1: How are we doing?
- 1:24:22Speaker 10: Oh? I'm doing pretty good. Hey, I'm like this four.
- 1:24:29Speaker 10: If I did get Smith to come in, I'm taking
- 1:24:33Speaker 10: I'm sorry, man, y'all keep seeing I know he's running
- 1:24:35Speaker 10: full five, but it's in my singing. Watching the game.
- 1:24:39Speaker 10: You watch, watching highlight, keep it in the panther, come
- 1:24:42Speaker 10: on back and I ain't come out on stint. I'm
- 1:24:45Speaker 10: come on straight away straight. And this such thing as
- 1:24:50Speaker 10: football speed and forty speed and Baldy gave her and fruits.
- 1:24:55Speaker 10: You have a good comparison.
- 1:24:57Speaker 6: Yeah, y'all see Drake and whatever?
- 1:25:01Speaker 10: What are the guys from the ram? He's gone, I think,
- 1:25:08Speaker 10: and I would taken, but wheel Cable, what do you
- 1:25:13Speaker 10: think about Brown? That's a gonna see Eldrid.
- 1:25:20Speaker 1: I'm gonna I'm gonna let you go because the phone
- 1:25:22Speaker 1: was given.
- 1:25:22Speaker 2: Out that was there a pooka tech McMillan comp and.
- 1:25:26Speaker 1: I got the gist, which is why I let you go. Eldred. So,
- 1:25:28Speaker 1: uh he likes Tet McMillan, which I am not shot
- 1:25:31Speaker 1: by at all because uh, Eldred's favorite receivers since I've
- 1:25:35Speaker 1: known him, DK, Metcalf, Quentin Johnson, Tet McMillan. So do
- 1:25:40Speaker 1: you think he has the type? So I I totally
- 1:25:43Speaker 1: get that, Eldred. Uh, he made the Poka cop which
- 1:25:47Speaker 1: is picking up a little bit of steam like taller, slimmer.
- 1:25:51Speaker 2: And I plays faster than he tests.
- 1:25:54Speaker 1: I have to admit I kind of see it. I
- 1:25:56Speaker 1: kind of see it because's best that's right is catch
- 1:26:01Speaker 1: and run ability. Right, he can hit him over the
- 1:26:03Speaker 1: middle of the field on a slant or a dig
- 1:26:05Speaker 1: or a crosser, and he can he picks up more
- 1:26:08Speaker 1: speed as he runs with the football and after the catch,
- 1:26:13Speaker 1: and he's got great body control, He's got good hands.
- 1:26:16Speaker 1: He's not Pukah's shorter right like Ted's more in that
- 1:26:19Speaker 1: big body frame. But I I kind of if you're
- 1:26:24Speaker 1: don't love like copping him to Drake London like a
- 1:26:27Speaker 1: lot of people do, I don't hate Pokin Nakua as
- 1:26:30Speaker 1: a comp for him. I can see it. You can.
- 1:26:32Speaker 2: I totally see where's coming from.
- 1:26:33Speaker 5: Uh.
- 1:26:34Speaker 1: The other one was the kid from Tennessee, the Burner Thompson.
- 1:26:38Speaker 1: The receiver ran like a four to three at the combine.
- 1:26:42Speaker 1: This is a fast and guy.
- 1:26:44Speaker 2: Yeah, and well, I guess fast and big, but fast
- 1:26:47Speaker 2: and tall.
- 1:26:48Speaker 1: I'll give him this. He's legit play speed fast like
- 1:26:52Speaker 1: he plays fast and he runs fast. It's not Taekwon
- 1:26:55Speaker 1: Thornton like. He is not just a forty thing with him,
- 1:26:58Speaker 1: I would say, but he's only fast, like he has
- 1:27:02Speaker 1: one thing. It's straight line speed and get down the field. Now,
- 1:27:06Speaker 1: if you wanted to say, late on day three, fifth
- 1:27:09Speaker 1: sixth round, pair of that kind of guy with a
- 1:27:12Speaker 1: dude that throws the deep ball like Drake May. Yeah,
- 1:27:15Speaker 1: he has a role on an NFL team. He's just
- 1:27:18Speaker 1: a role player, like he is a certain type of receiver.
- 1:27:22Speaker 1: He's not a high volume guy. He's going to take
- 1:27:24Speaker 1: the top off the defense and that's about it. But
- 1:27:29Speaker 1: I wouldn't totally dismiss him because I don't think that
- 1:27:32Speaker 1: it's just the fact that he ran fast at the combine.
- 1:27:34Speaker 1: I think he plays fast. I think he has legit
- 1:27:36Speaker 1: vertical deep speed with Thompson. But yeah, the Pukua nakua
- 1:27:41Speaker 1: things picking up some steam with Ted because I think
- 1:27:44Speaker 1: people are trying to sell tech.
- 1:27:46Speaker 2: I think everybody over corrected to him being too bad
- 1:27:48Speaker 2: at the combine and so now they're trying to pull
- 1:27:50Speaker 2: it back the other way.
- 1:27:51Speaker 1: Yeah, I hear that one. All right, Rio is an Exeter.
- 1:27:55Speaker 1: What's up? Ryo?
- 1:27:59Speaker 5: Yep?
- 1:28:00Speaker 8: Can you hear me?
- 1:28:01Speaker 1: Yes? Go for it.
- 1:28:03Speaker 8: Hey, guys, I appreciate you taking my call. Actually, uh,
- 1:28:06Speaker 8: I have to give Alex the credit for inspiring me
- 1:28:09Speaker 8: to call finally, because he likes to pick up my
- 1:28:11Speaker 8: My comments in the chat was the jihat Campbell guy
- 1:28:15Speaker 8: but I have yeah, yeah, he was at nine and
- 1:28:19Speaker 8: Daniel Jeremiah's latest mock draft, you know, maybe not quite
- 1:28:22Speaker 8: so crazy. But I had just a couple of quick questions. One, uh,
- 1:28:27Speaker 8: why is uh nobody talking about Kyle Williams at Washington stage.
- 1:28:31Speaker 1: You're just you're just trying to want to double up
- 1:28:34Speaker 1: the receiver. You're trying to appease my guy here. This
- 1:28:36Speaker 1: is what you're doing. I'm just kidding.
- 1:28:38Speaker 2: What was what was the other one going?
- 1:28:39Speaker 1: To ask about Ben Saws.
- 1:28:42Speaker 8: No, I'm not. My other question is actually something uh,
- 1:28:45Speaker 8: something Evan said on you yesterday, Uh, which is the
- 1:28:49Speaker 8: point I've been making for months, which is that I
- 1:28:52Speaker 8: think this is a pretty strong draft, actually just not
- 1:28:54Speaker 8: at the top, and that going from you know, pick
- 1:28:57Speaker 8: four to forty, they're looking at similar quality prospects. So
- 1:29:02Speaker 8: what do you think about completely trading out of number four? No,
- 1:29:05Speaker 8: I trying to get another high pick in the draft.
- 1:29:08Speaker 8: I'll give you a one potential scenario, but doesn't have
- 1:29:11Speaker 8: to be this team, but somebody like the Saints if
- 1:29:13Speaker 8: they wanted to move up for a quarterback and you
- 1:29:16Speaker 8: want to do say like forty seventy one, one, twelve
- 1:29:22Speaker 8: and next year's first for number four overall, so you could,
- 1:29:25Speaker 8: you know, really stock up on picks and you know,
- 1:29:28Speaker 8: build out the roster since they've got fifty one spots
- 1:29:31Speaker 8: they need to fill realistically.
- 1:29:34Speaker 1: Yeah, thanks for the call. I appreciate you.
- 1:29:36Speaker 2: Calling in the chat, finally making it to the phone.
- 1:29:39Speaker 1: I like the outside the box thinking I need a
- 1:29:42Speaker 1: first round pick in this draft. I need them to
- 1:29:44Speaker 1: take a well.
- 1:29:44Speaker 2: I don't know, so like the one he laid out there.
- 1:29:47Speaker 2: So you train with the Saints. So you're gonna have
- 1:29:49Speaker 2: thirty eight and forty, and you're gonna have three third
- 1:29:52Speaker 2: round picks, so you can get back into the first
- 1:29:54Speaker 2: from there. Even if the Saints get a quarterback, if
- 1:29:58Speaker 2: it's one of these quarterbacks, that first round pick next
- 1:30:02Speaker 2: year is probably still a top ten pick. I might
- 1:30:04Speaker 2: I don't trust the Saints to figure it out.
- 1:30:06Speaker 1: I might do that I need a first round picking
- 1:30:09Speaker 1: this draft.
- 1:30:10Speaker 2: Well, you're essentially you're getting us I think he said, second, third,
- 1:30:12Speaker 2: and fourth, right, So you're still gonna pick in the first,
- 1:30:16Speaker 2: but you just have to move We did this the
- 1:30:17Speaker 2: other week with DK metcalf right.
- 1:30:19Speaker 1: About swapping picks.
- 1:30:21Speaker 2: Well, no, remember I said, well if you move up
- 1:30:23Speaker 2: to twenty three and then you trade twenty three, and
- 1:30:26Speaker 2: then you said, well why not just give them what
- 1:30:28Speaker 2: they need to move up to twenty three? Right, Yeah,
- 1:30:30Speaker 2: So if you're just getting the Saints are giving you
- 1:30:33Speaker 2: the ammunition to move back up, you just have to
- 1:30:34Speaker 2: do that other trade. You're still gonna pick in the
- 1:30:37Speaker 2: first round. You just have to make another trade.
- 1:30:38Speaker 1: Oh, you'd have to make another trade. So are they
- 1:30:40Speaker 1: making the other trade? I don't know.
- 1:30:42Speaker 2: I would assume so Yeah, that's what I'm saying. Like,
- 1:30:44Speaker 2: if I know I can get back into the twenties
- 1:30:46Speaker 2: and get one of the tackles, I might do that
- 1:30:49Speaker 2: because you're that Saints. I don't think Saints are figuring
- 1:30:51Speaker 2: it out. I really don't. I think that's gonna be
- 1:30:53Speaker 2: a high pick next year.
- 1:30:54Speaker 1: I know you like to pick from next year. I
- 1:30:56Speaker 1: don't I understand where you guys are coming from. I
- 1:31:00Speaker 1: I think that there's a there's an energy that needs
- 1:31:05Speaker 1: to shift here. I don't mean to go all Jayalen
- 1:31:07Speaker 1: Brown on you, yeah, but I just feel like if
- 1:31:10Speaker 1: you don't make a pick in the first round, the
- 1:31:13Speaker 1: excitement level just you're still the season.
- 1:31:15Speaker 2: Just so if I can't, if I know I can't
- 1:31:18Speaker 2: trade back up in the first round, I'm not doing
- 1:31:19Speaker 2: it right.
- 1:31:20Speaker 1: But even if you trade back up into the first round,
- 1:31:23Speaker 1: I guess it's the equivalent if it's for Connery or
- 1:31:26Speaker 1: if Matthew Golden or someone that really moves the needle
- 1:31:29Speaker 1: for people, I guess people will be excited. I just
- 1:31:32Speaker 1: think there's a lot to be said. There's some momentum
- 1:31:34Speaker 1: right now with this organization, with Frable coming in, with
- 1:31:37Speaker 1: this free agency class that they were able to land
- 1:31:39Speaker 1: on defense especially. I think there's a lot to be
- 1:31:42Speaker 1: said for the fact that drafting and I know everybody
- 1:31:46Speaker 1: would would do a cart wheels for Travis Hunter. But
- 1:31:49Speaker 1: like drafting somebody that ILK is going to bring some juice,
- 1:31:54Speaker 1: So that's important.
- 1:31:54Speaker 2: Here's the equivalent of it. And I think you said
- 1:31:56Speaker 2: you would do this the other week. Let's say the
- 1:31:59Speaker 2: Vikings call twenty three, yeah, and they get they will
- 1:32:02Speaker 2: give you twenty three one day two pick in their
- 1:32:06Speaker 2: first next year. Would you do it?
- 1:32:08Speaker 1: Why the Viking is doing that? All right?
- 1:32:11Speaker 2: Then the Packers at twenty two, I don't know how
- 1:32:12Speaker 2: about the Steelers the text all right, the Steelers at
- 1:32:14Speaker 2: twenty one.
- 1:32:15Speaker 1: So Steelers at twenty one they're gonna get have no quarterback? Yeah,
- 1:32:19Speaker 1: they may or may not be in on Aaron Rodgers.
- 1:32:22Speaker 1: I think nobody's in an Aaron Rodgers and I love
- 1:32:24Speaker 1: by the way, let's screw.
- 1:32:26Speaker 2: So let's say you're not getting the other pick now,
- 1:32:28Speaker 2: because's a little bit higher twenty one in the future
- 1:32:30Speaker 2: first for four? Are you doing that?
- 1:32:34Speaker 1: And the future first for four?
- 1:32:35Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 1:32:35Speaker 2: Next year's first. I need more than that twenty one
- 1:32:39Speaker 2: future first in like a fourth I.
- 1:32:41Speaker 1: Would do twenty one a third in the future. First
- 1:32:45Speaker 1: four okay, so maybe that's going from four to twenty
- 1:32:48Speaker 1: one is big.
- 1:32:48Speaker 2: Maybe maybe you could swing that. But and the other
- 1:32:52Speaker 2: part why is nobody talking about Kyle Williams is because
- 1:32:54Speaker 2: he's a little bit older and he only had one
- 1:32:56Speaker 2: year of significant production. But dude can play. Dude can play.
- 1:32:59Speaker 2: He should be talked about more. And one of the
- 1:33:01Speaker 2: more underrated players in this trap. By the way, Lanzerline
- 1:33:04Speaker 2: one of his most underrated players, and I talked to
- 1:33:06Speaker 2: him at the combine.
- 1:33:06Speaker 1: Really good route runner. Yep. The Steelers thing has a
- 1:33:09Speaker 1: little bit legs to me. Steelers have no long term
- 1:33:13Speaker 1: answer at quarterback.
- 1:33:14Speaker 2: They even have a short term answer a quarterback.
- 1:33:15Speaker 1: They don't have a short term answer, but I assume
- 1:33:17Speaker 1: they will right whether it's bringing back Russ or Aaron
- 1:33:20Speaker 1: Rodgers for or Kirk Cousins or whatever. I'm sure they'll
- 1:33:24Speaker 1: have somebody and that seat for a year. Tomlin dion Chador,
- 1:33:32Speaker 1: like I could see that vibe working, Like I could
- 1:33:35Speaker 1: see that mix of characters working in Pittsburgh. He has
- 1:33:40Speaker 1: dk Metcalf and George Pickens to throw the ball to.
- 1:33:43Speaker 1: We talk a lot about with Shador that he's not
- 1:33:45Speaker 1: necessarily a truck. He's more of a a game manager.
- 1:33:48Speaker 1: He's more of a trailer like, he doesn't have to
- 1:33:50Speaker 1: be much of a truck, and he has those two
- 1:33:52Speaker 1: guys to throw two on the outside. I could see
- 1:33:55Speaker 1: the Steelers trying to be super aggressive and come up
- 1:33:58Speaker 1: for one of the quarterbacks.
- 1:33:59Speaker 2: I could you get Steelers first round? Well no, but
- 1:34:01Speaker 2: they're gonna finish over five hundred because they always do,
- 1:34:04Speaker 2: so that's not gonna be great.
- 1:34:05Speaker 1: Yeah, it'll be twenty it'll be nineteen twenty. Right, they're
- 1:34:08Speaker 1: gonna be.
- 1:34:09Speaker 2: I guess that. Plus the pay whatever the Patriots pick
- 1:34:11Speaker 2: ends up being, should get you back in the top ten.
- 1:34:13Speaker 2: So if the Patriots pick isn't in the.
- 1:34:15Speaker 1: Top ten, I don't know. I just keep an eye
- 1:34:17Speaker 1: out for the Steelers. That's all, all right, Let's go
- 1:34:21Speaker 1: to DeShawn in Virginia. What's up to Sean?
- 1:34:25Speaker 2: Hold on?
- 1:34:25Speaker 5: My god?
- 1:34:26Speaker 6: How's it going?
- 1:34:26Speaker 2: Hey?
- 1:34:28Speaker 6: One thing that's the day that people are not really
- 1:34:31Speaker 6: talking about it is that this team has been very
- 1:34:35Speaker 6: very picky, very choosy when it comes to come to
- 1:34:38Speaker 6: come to who they want. Did you know they probably
- 1:34:41Speaker 6: could have turned this team into a Super Bowl team overnight.
- 1:34:44Speaker 6: I mean literally, because if you actually think about it,
- 1:34:48Speaker 6: they could have Stigne every quality free agent. It still
- 1:34:51Speaker 6: has a decent amount of money left over. But because
- 1:34:54Speaker 6: they feel like they're so entitled, they can feel like
- 1:34:57Speaker 6: they're so picky, they can just go about however they
- 1:34:59Speaker 6: want through and in a position to do that. And
- 1:35:03Speaker 6: that's why it is a position right now. As far
- 1:35:05Speaker 6: as trying to figure out who they're going to pick,
- 1:35:08Speaker 6: people talk about who they should think and who they
- 1:35:11Speaker 6: should not pick if they actually have gone at the
- 1:35:13Speaker 6: players instead of think about characters, because you had to
- 1:35:16Speaker 6: ask talk do you actually want to win or did
- 1:35:19Speaker 6: you autual care about winning or actually losing? So you
- 1:35:22Speaker 6: have to pick between the two, and character is a
- 1:35:24Speaker 6: bit overrated when it comes to that notion that they
- 1:35:27Speaker 6: want to, you know, put that ahead of production on
- 1:35:30Speaker 6: the field. That's all I have to say.
- 1:35:33Speaker 1: Yeah, I hear you this, Sean, And I would say
- 1:35:35Speaker 1: the one real criticism I'd have of the off season
- 1:35:38Speaker 1: so far as passing on that DK Metcalf trade. They
- 1:35:41Speaker 1: could have offered a higher second round pick for DK Metcalf.
- 1:35:44Speaker 1: They had all the money in the world to give
- 1:35:45Speaker 1: DK Metcalf the same contract he signed in Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh
- 1:35:49Speaker 1: we literally just talked about has no quarterback. They have
- 1:35:52Speaker 1: no quarterback. It's not a warm weather city, like it
- 1:35:55Speaker 1: was rumored that he wanted to be a part of.
- 1:35:56Speaker 2: Think Pennsylvania's decent taxes too, right.
- 1:35:59Speaker 1: It's it's a very similar, maybe even worse situation than
- 1:36:04Speaker 1: the Patriots Tomlin and Rabel. I think Tomlin's got a
- 1:36:08Speaker 1: little bit more of a resume as a head coach,
- 1:36:09Speaker 1: but certainly not very far off in terms of what
- 1:36:13Speaker 1: their reputations are and what they're about as a football coaches.
- 1:36:17Speaker 1: That would be a criticism of this offseason to be
- 1:36:20Speaker 1: or the biggest. It's not left tackle. I don't know
- 1:36:22Speaker 1: really what they were supposed to do there. Like I
- 1:36:24Speaker 1: don't didn't like Dan Moore junior Jalen Moore from San
- 1:36:28Speaker 1: Francisco four get four years, twelve starts backing up Trent Williams,
- 1:36:33Speaker 1: Like that's not a real option. Cam Robinson's still floating,
- 1:36:37Speaker 1: so that means that his market is sour in some respects.
- 1:36:42Speaker 1: I can't really fault them for not going out there
- 1:36:44Speaker 1: and get a left tackle, and I wouldn't necessarily kill
- 1:36:47Speaker 1: them for Cooper Cup if they were trying to keep
- 1:36:49Speaker 1: the room a little bit younger. But DK Metcalf that
- 1:36:52Speaker 1: one I can't wrap my head around. I can't wrap
- 1:36:54Speaker 1: my head around why they wouldn't be in on that player.
- 1:36:56Speaker 1: And I know Tom Curran had some reporting about the
- 1:37:00Speaker 1: fact that they were a little bit worried about you
- 1:37:01Speaker 1: know what Deshaun was talking about, that he'd be begging
- 1:37:04Speaker 1: for targets and in Drake May's ear and stuff like that.
- 1:37:08Speaker 1: I think all that stuff is maybe a little bit
- 1:37:11Speaker 1: overrated from the outside looking in, but I think on
- 1:37:13Speaker 1: the inside that that stuff does matter to coaches, to teams,
- 1:37:18Speaker 1: and just as two people that have been around this
- 1:37:20Speaker 1: team for the for a last couple of years, you know,
- 1:37:24Speaker 1: it hasn't always been pretty, and so I can understand
- 1:37:26Speaker 1: why they come from that respect. But I would probably
- 1:37:31Speaker 1: push back on to Sean a little bit that they
- 1:37:32Speaker 1: could be a super Bowl team if they had done
- 1:37:34Speaker 1: all of this, they had.
- 1:37:36Speaker 2: Signed with literally every player in frequency, I guess, like
- 1:37:38Speaker 2: you said, but that's not realistic. I mean they uh
- 1:37:42Speaker 2: Chris Godwin, right, Yeah, they offered him like ten million
- 1:37:45Speaker 2: more year in the Bucks than they couldn't say right.
- 1:37:47Speaker 1: The criticism. The critique to me, if you have any
- 1:37:51Speaker 1: of their off season so far as Metcalf, like they
- 1:37:53Speaker 1: should have been in on Metcalf and in Metcalf barring
- 1:37:57Speaker 1: Dk Metcalf saying I Am not coming to New England
- 1:37:59Speaker 1: kind of like Brandon Ayuk did. I'm I'm kind of
- 1:38:02Speaker 1: can't figure out why that player is not a Patriot
- 1:38:05Speaker 1: right now. So that that's the one criticism. I would
- 1:38:09Speaker 1: not say that they would be a super Bowl team
- 1:38:11Speaker 1: just by adding Dk Metcalf. No, maybe better, I mean
- 1:38:14Speaker 1: it would certainly be yeah, yeah, absolutely all right.
- 1:38:17Speaker 11: Uh.
- 1:38:18Speaker 2: Jalen Milroe at his pro day, by the way, maybe
- 1:38:22Speaker 2: a guy that should go top three. Kidding, but completed
- 1:38:25Speaker 2: forty five of fifty two passes one man routes well
- 1:38:30Speaker 2: against air. He did have one pass broken up. It
- 1:38:33Speaker 2: hit the roof of the facility. Should have gone outside
- 1:38:37Speaker 2: like Joe Milton went outside, so wouldn't.
- 1:38:39Speaker 1: Hit the roof.
- 1:38:40Speaker 2: He uncorked that insane throw into the wind. It's a
- 1:38:44Speaker 2: great clip. You just hear some guy in the background go, yeah,
- 1:38:46Speaker 2: I'll play well.
- 1:38:50Speaker 1: Mark is in Connecticut. What's up? Mark?
- 1:38:54Speaker 2: Going on?
- 1:38:54Speaker 10: Guys?
- 1:38:54Speaker 1: How are we doing?
- 1:38:56Speaker 12: They were doing?
- 1:38:57Speaker 13: You know, it's another day. My worry right now is
- 1:39:01Speaker 13: that they've put themselves in a pickle or a buine
- 1:39:05Speaker 13: with not having a left tackle going into the draft,
- 1:39:08Speaker 13: so they're kind of, you know, handcuffing themselves to pick
- 1:39:11Speaker 13: him Will Campbell if he's there. That that's my worry
- 1:39:16Speaker 13: on that. If Hunter is gone and Abdul Carter are gone,
- 1:39:21Speaker 13: that that is my biggest worry that they're going to
- 1:39:23Speaker 13: do that, because I really want them to if Hunter
- 1:39:26Speaker 13: or Abdul Carter are gone, I really want them to
- 1:39:29Speaker 13: pull back out of the pick and just move down,
- 1:39:32Speaker 13: still stay in the top ten and maybe draft Tyler Warren.
- 1:39:36Speaker 13: But that's just my worry that they've put themselves into
- 1:39:39Speaker 13: this and they wanted to get you guys at take
- 1:39:40Speaker 13: on that.
- 1:39:41Speaker 1: Yeah, thanks Mark, They have I don't know, back themselves
- 1:39:46Speaker 1: into a corner is the right way of putting it.
- 1:39:48Speaker 1: They have needs, like, yeah, every team has needs. They
- 1:39:50Speaker 1: have some glaring ones. I don't think, you know, we
- 1:39:54Speaker 1: were just kicking around trying to kind of come to
- 1:39:57Speaker 1: terms of the fact that about their options outside a
- 1:39:59Speaker 1: Hunter and Carter, and I don't I think every team's
- 1:40:02Speaker 1: thinking the same things about this this draft and I
- 1:40:05Speaker 1: one thing that I've kind of pounded the table for
- 1:40:08Speaker 1: since I really started to get into the draft is
- 1:40:11Speaker 1: this is a fits draft. This this draft is this
- 1:40:15Speaker 1: guy fits our culture, this guy fits our vision, this
- 1:40:17Speaker 1: guy fits a role for us. Like this is not
- 1:40:20Speaker 1: a oh, this guy is just the best darn football
- 1:40:23Speaker 1: player at four overall, and we're just gonna take them
- 1:40:25Speaker 1: above everything else. I don't feel that this is that
- 1:40:28Speaker 1: kind of class. I think that this is one of
- 1:40:29Speaker 1: those classes where you are going to have to have
- 1:40:33Speaker 1: a vision in place for how this player fits in
- 1:40:38Speaker 1: to your program, whether it's position, whether it's culture, whether
- 1:40:42Speaker 1: it's all those types of things, because those are gonna
- 1:40:46Speaker 1: be the deal breakers. Like it's not gonna be talent,
- 1:40:48Speaker 1: like you're gonna grade Will Campbell and Mason Graham and
- 1:40:51Speaker 1: Ted McMillan and Tyler Warren and armand member, we're all
- 1:40:54Speaker 1: gonna be on a level playing field in terms of
- 1:40:56Speaker 1: great based off the tape and by all the you know,
- 1:40:59Speaker 1: all the things that get baked into the grade, It's
- 1:41:03Speaker 1: gonna come down to who you like the most in
- 1:41:05Speaker 1: terms of positional value, in terms of need on the
- 1:41:07Speaker 1: football team, in terms of culture. And that's I think
- 1:41:11Speaker 1: what's challenging about this draft is because we aren't on
- 1:41:15Speaker 1: the inside, and we don't really know how they rank
- 1:41:17Speaker 1: these guys in those types of ways. And why I
- 1:41:20Speaker 1: keep coming back to Campbell because he's such an intangible guy,
- 1:41:23Speaker 1: right His intangibles are through the roof, and so I
- 1:41:26Speaker 1: think that that could be a deal breaker. Now to
- 1:41:29Speaker 1: Mark's point about trading down, I'll say the same thing
- 1:41:31Speaker 1: that I've been saying for three months. Everybody in this
- 1:41:34Speaker 1: draft wants to trade down. Everybody wants out of the
- 1:41:37Speaker 1: top five. Everyone, even the Tennessee Titans at number one overall,
- 1:41:41Speaker 1: would take a trade down if they could, if it
- 1:41:43Speaker 1: would materialize. As of right now, and it could change,
- 1:41:47Speaker 1: you know, we still got what five six weeks to go.
- 1:41:50Speaker 1: Everybody has their original draft pick in the first round,
- 1:41:53Speaker 1: which almost never happens. It's unheard of.
- 1:41:56Speaker 2: I don't think it's ever happened in the modern arm.
- 1:41:58Speaker 1: Yeah, so everybody has original pick, and everybody has their
- 1:42:01Speaker 1: original pick because there's no eagerness to trade up. There's
- 1:42:04Speaker 1: no there's nothing drawing teams to trading up in a
- 1:42:07Speaker 1: draft like this. So I don't mean to like labor
- 1:42:12Speaker 1: a point, but when it comes to trade downs, we
- 1:42:15Speaker 1: all would probably take a trade down. Yeah, if I
- 1:42:18Speaker 1: think that's option number one on everybody's Bingo card, unless
- 1:42:22Speaker 1: Hunter and Carter, one of those guys miraculously falls to four,
- 1:42:25Speaker 1: taking that out of the table. They're not on the
- 1:42:27Speaker 1: board at four. What are you doing. We're all picking
- 1:42:30Speaker 1: up the phones, right, We're all trying to materialize or
- 1:42:33Speaker 1: create a trade that. That's what everybody's doing. But I
- 1:42:37Speaker 1: think there could be some a little bit of wonkiness
- 1:42:41Speaker 1: in the first round because of this. This is gonna
- 1:42:43Speaker 1: be a draft where boards are gonna be widely different.
- 1:42:46Speaker 1: Like some teams are gonna have Matthew Golden as the
- 1:42:49Speaker 1: top receiver. Some teams are gonna have Ted McMillan. Some
- 1:42:52Speaker 1: people are gonna have Tyler Warren as a top tight end.
- 1:42:54Speaker 1: Some people might have Colson Lovelin as a top tight end. Yeah,
- 1:42:57Speaker 1: Like if that's more your type though, you know, Avis
- 1:43:00Speaker 1: Kelcey versus a Rob Gronkowski, some teams are gonna are
- 1:43:03Speaker 1: gonna have a higher grade on Coulson Lovelin. You know,
- 1:43:06Speaker 1: some people are gonna really love the tools, guys like
- 1:43:08Speaker 1: Shamar Stewart and you know, they're gonna might be willing
- 1:43:12Speaker 1: to overdraft a player like that, Like I could see
- 1:43:15Speaker 1: Jacksonville at five overall that's now one hundred and ten
- 1:43:19Speaker 1: percent run by analytics and by nerds, Like they might
- 1:43:22Speaker 1: like a guy like Shamar Stewart because he's a athletic
- 1:43:28Speaker 1: freak and he checks all of those boxes and I'm
- 1:43:30Speaker 1: sure he has great GPS tracking data and all that
- 1:43:34Speaker 1: good stuff that they all love. So we'll see. But
- 1:43:36Speaker 1: I think this could get a little bit weird because
- 1:43:38Speaker 1: it's gonna be who you like. It's a it's a
- 1:43:42Speaker 1: type straft, it's a fits draft, it's a flavor draft,
- 1:43:45Speaker 1: it's not a talent draft. So it'll be interesting to
- 1:43:47Speaker 1: see how it all shakes out. Uh, Tony is in Pennsylvania,
- 1:43:51Speaker 1: assume what's up, Tony? A?
- 1:43:53Speaker 14: What's up?
- 1:43:54Speaker 5: Bro?
- 1:43:56Speaker 3: Alex? Let me just get me out on this all right,
- 1:44:00Speaker 3: been saying this for a few drafts now, but uh
- 1:44:05Speaker 3: we gotta You might not agree. I'm hoping you do,
- 1:44:07Speaker 3: but uh we we gotta to take the pressure off
- 1:44:11Speaker 3: of Drake May and to make up the lack for
- 1:44:14Speaker 3: our for our offensive line, which is better than last year,
- 1:44:17Speaker 3: we gotta go running back at number four. We gotta
- 1:44:20Speaker 3: get the best running back at number four, ash Jan Genty.
- 1:44:26Speaker 3: And I'm saying this because we could take it back
- 1:44:28Speaker 3: from all the way to our first Super Bowl. We
- 1:44:31Speaker 3: had good, almost great running backs all the way from
- 1:44:35Speaker 3: Corey Dylon, uh Antoine Smith, Redmond, Lawrence Maroney, Shane Vereen,
- 1:44:42Speaker 3: Steven Ridley, and then the last name was Michelle. But
- 1:44:50Speaker 3: but we gotta we gotta take a running back to
- 1:44:52Speaker 3: make up for the pressure that we're gonna get. And
- 1:44:55Speaker 3: that'll take off a lot of pressure from Drake May
- 1:44:57Speaker 3: if we have a run game, and then that'll open
- 1:44:59Speaker 3: it up for the young wide receivers and maybe sign
- 1:45:01Speaker 3: of veterans.
- 1:45:03Speaker 1: Thanks for uh.
- 1:45:05Speaker 2: Lauren didn't win a Super Bowl here.
- 1:45:07Speaker 1: Maroni did not win a Super Bowl. Also not a
- 1:45:09Speaker 1: very good player. So Sony Michelle won a Super Bowl.
- 1:45:12Speaker 1: Also not a very good player.
- 1:45:13Speaker 2: Maroney had a like sneaky, really good rookie year.
- 1:45:16Speaker 1: He just fell off the Yeah, he had a really
- 1:45:18Speaker 1: good playoff run and those if you go.
- 1:45:19Speaker 2: Back and you look at that, like the numbers aren't
- 1:45:21Speaker 2: as bad as we like they're made out to be.
- 1:45:24Speaker 2: He just got hurt.
- 1:45:25Speaker 1: So Laurence Maroney and Sony Michelle had very similar careers
- 1:45:28Speaker 1: they have. They both had good rookie years. They both
- 1:45:30Speaker 1: had decent playoff runs. I think that was Maroney's second
- 1:45:33Speaker 1: year though, right, I.
- 1:45:34Speaker 2: Think it's even his second regular season was solid.
- 1:45:40Speaker 1: I think he meant me, not you, when he said
- 1:45:41Speaker 1: that you weren't gonna like the running back take. But
- 1:45:45Speaker 1: here's the thing with running backs, and there's always the chance.
- 1:45:51Speaker 1: You know, I'll give you an example. Your your guy,
- 1:45:52Speaker 1: Derrick Henry is an exception to the rule. I would
- 1:45:56Speaker 1: say that there's always a chance that a guy can
- 1:46:00Speaker 1: elevate the blocking right, like he's so elusive or he's
- 1:46:05Speaker 1: so powerful.
- 1:46:06Speaker 2: But Maroney ran for had a better year his second
- 1:46:08Speaker 2: year than his first year.
- 1:46:09Speaker 1: Okay, so it was just a little different thing.
- 1:46:11Speaker 2: And then he got he got hurt in O eight
- 1:46:12Speaker 2: and then he just even in nine. He was solid.
- 1:46:14Speaker 2: He ran for eight hundred yards and ten touchdowns.
- 1:46:18Speaker 1: Not for a first round pick, not for first round pay.
- 1:46:20Speaker 2: He was like a solid play. He gets a little
- 1:46:22Speaker 2: too much crap, like people know, people put him in
- 1:46:25Speaker 2: terms of a draft pick. People put him in like
- 1:46:28Speaker 2: the Nikhil Harry Chad Jackson bust. He's not that kind
- 1:46:32Speaker 2: of bust. I'll give you that, Like, he wasn't worth
- 1:46:35Speaker 2: the pick, but he was still a solid player.
- 1:46:37Speaker 1: He was not a draft bust back to gen d Yeah,
- 1:46:40Speaker 1: in the running back call, because that's what he'd called about.
- 1:46:42Speaker 2: There here, I am defending Lawrence Moroney.
- 1:46:45Speaker 1: Uh that there are a handful, small handful of exceptions
- 1:46:50Speaker 1: of guys that truly elevate blocking, that are immune to
- 1:46:55Speaker 1: bad situations, but the vast majority of running backs are
- 1:47:01Speaker 1: need functional environments.
- 1:47:02Speaker 2: For what it's worth, the Boise State offensive line was
- 1:47:06Speaker 2: not good. Genty did that in now another story going
- 1:47:10Speaker 2: from the Mountain West the NFL. But just to give
- 1:47:12Speaker 2: him credit at because a lot of people what was
- 1:47:16Speaker 2: Boise State's line? He was probably just running open. No,
- 1:47:19Speaker 2: he created a lot of that on his own.
- 1:47:22Speaker 1: But the take, my point is not even to crap
- 1:47:27Speaker 1: all over the take. Yeah, My point is actually you
- 1:47:29Speaker 1: just shouldn't make the take that way, right, So the
- 1:47:32Speaker 1: take shouldn't be that gent is gonna come into New
- 1:47:34Speaker 1: England and he's gonna make a bad offensive line look good.
- 1:47:37Speaker 1: That should not be the take. The takes should be
- 1:47:40Speaker 1: that we're gonna build it run first, right, We're gonna
- 1:47:43Speaker 1: draft linemen, We're gonna draft Genty and just like the
- 1:47:46Speaker 1: Titans with Derrick Henry, we're gonna run the football and
- 1:47:50Speaker 1: that Genty, his special sauce is gonna put them over
- 1:47:54Speaker 1: the top. Eagles with Saquon Barkley, Lions with Jamir Gibbs,
- 1:47:58Speaker 1: right like, it's gonna make it that much better for
- 1:48:00Speaker 1: nine ers with the house healthy Christian McCaffrey, Like, that's
- 1:48:03Speaker 1: the take. That's the vision Dallas with a young Zeke
- 1:48:07Speaker 1: right like that. It's that you're gonna build a line,
- 1:48:10Speaker 1: and you're gonna build it run first, and you're gonna
- 1:48:12Speaker 1: build it around Genty, and then Genty is gonna take
- 1:48:15Speaker 1: a good situation and make it great.
- 1:48:18Speaker 2: Right, No, drafting Genty does not somehow diminish the need
- 1:48:21Speaker 2: to add to the offensive run. It doesn't more he
- 1:48:24Speaker 2: makes it more important. You can go that way if
- 1:48:26Speaker 2: you want, but say, well, you know, if you draft
- 1:48:28Speaker 2: Ashton Genty instead of adding a tackle, Venerian Low is
- 1:48:32Speaker 2: not gonna be that much better because Ashton Genty's back there, right,
- 1:48:35Speaker 2: So yeah, I it's even for me like Genty at
- 1:48:40Speaker 2: four is would be incredibly tough to justify.
- 1:48:43Speaker 1: Yeah, if you're one again, it's not saying there isn't
- 1:48:47Speaker 1: a rationalization. The rationalization, though, is that then you are
- 1:48:51Speaker 1: building through the run game, so your investments are now
- 1:48:55Speaker 1: heavily on the arm.
- 1:48:57Speaker 2: If you take Genty at four, you gotta trade back up,
- 1:49:00Speaker 2: trade thirty eight and seventy seven to get back into
- 1:49:02Speaker 2: the first round. Now you're definitely drafting Ariante. Nursery says,
- 1:49:05Speaker 2: you're left tackle because he's more of a road grader. Yeah,
- 1:49:07Speaker 2: and then you're you're you should be taking a guard
- 1:49:09Speaker 2: at sixty nine like that, That is what that draft
- 1:49:12Speaker 2: should look like. You should be a running back followed
- 1:49:14Speaker 2: by two or even three offensive lineman in a row
- 1:49:16Speaker 2: to fill that thing out. Also about a j R.
- 1:49:19Speaker 2: Redmond reference, shout out JR. Redmond, Listen, JR.
- 1:49:22Speaker 1: Redmond was a good role player. But if you're gonna
- 1:49:24Speaker 1: see a role player, if you're gonna start listing off,
- 1:49:26Speaker 1: like we need to have Ashton Genty because a j R.
- 1:49:29Speaker 1: Redmond and uh Antoine say Hey and Lawrence Maroney and
- 1:49:32Speaker 1: Sony Michelle and Steven Ridley, that's not the argument you
- 1:49:35Speaker 1: want Ashton Genty for because of Corey Dillon.
- 1:49:37Speaker 2: Right, Yes, yes, Ashton Genty is more he he would
- 1:49:41Speaker 2: be better. They don't win thirty six without j R.
- 1:49:44Speaker 2: Redmond though that I'm gonna drive and it came up big.
- 1:49:46Speaker 1: I'm not throwing jars.
- 1:49:48Speaker 2: No, I get you're saying, no, you're not like and
- 1:49:50Speaker 2: I'm huge Antoine Smith fan. I really am. I think
- 1:49:53Speaker 2: he's one of the underrated Patriots.
- 1:49:54Speaker 1: Of all time.
- 1:49:55Speaker 2: He was a high level platoon back. Yeah, that's like,
- 1:49:59Speaker 2: you don't get at Antoine Smith without Kevin Folk, Right,
- 1:50:02Speaker 2: Corey Dillon was the backfield. You're the famous Bill Belcher.
- 1:50:07Speaker 2: Are you opposed to a was it a feature back?
- 1:50:10Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 1:50:10Speaker 2: And Bilt like that, you know, because well Cory Dylan
- 1:50:12Speaker 2: ran for you know, fourteen hundred yards that whatever, like
- 1:50:15Speaker 2: like where he's just like, well, Corey Dillon's at workhorse.
- 1:50:18Speaker 2: You're drafting it. You're not drafting ash and genty to
- 1:50:20Speaker 2: be Antoine Smith or Sony Michelle.
- 1:50:22Speaker 1: If he's Sony Michelle, with all due respect, that's a
- 1:50:26Speaker 1: major problem.
- 1:50:27Speaker 2: Well, looks like we were just talking about. He's still
- 1:50:30Speaker 2: a solid player, but not for what the pick was. Yeah, no,
- 1:50:33Speaker 2: you're drafting him to be Corey Dillon at least at
- 1:50:36Speaker 2: least maybe Well, apparently Corey Dillon's not a Hall of Fame,
- 1:50:40Speaker 2: which I don't entirely agree with, but if you're taking
- 1:50:42Speaker 2: the running back fourth overall, should be all of yeah.
- 1:50:44Speaker 1: Yeah, I agree. All right, Brad is in Ohio. What's up, Brad?
- 1:50:49Speaker 2: Hey, guys, real quick, Brat, I gotta throw my cloud
- 1:50:53Speaker 2: in there, shout out of my cloud.
- 1:50:54Speaker 1: Go ahead, Oh my god, all right, Brad, go ahead.
- 1:50:57Speaker 11: Okay, I've just got a couple of docs, guys, and
- 1:51:00Speaker 11: you know, see what you'll hush over because you're always
- 1:51:04Speaker 11: touching on good points. Evan said something about we need
- 1:51:07Speaker 11: to focus on players that are a best fit opposed
- 1:51:10Speaker 11: to worrying about anything else about you know, where we're
- 1:51:14Speaker 11: drafting and and all that. They need to be a
- 1:51:17Speaker 11: fit to our team, especially on offense. So I'm wondering
- 1:51:20Speaker 11: if you think we should double dip a tight end.
- 1:51:24Speaker 12: And for me, again, the only running back that fits
- 1:51:28Speaker 12: our offense is Donovan Edwards. You can put him out
- 1:51:32Speaker 12: in the X and you know, let him run down
- 1:51:35Speaker 12: the field. He can run routs like a receiver, so
- 1:51:38Speaker 12: you can put him in the slot and there's just
- 1:51:41Speaker 12: so many things you can do with Donovan and he
- 1:51:44Speaker 12: run a four point what a four to four of the.
- 1:51:49Speaker 1: We're both Donovan Edwards fans here.
- 1:51:51Speaker 12: Yeah, what where do you think he'll even be picked at?
- 1:51:55Speaker 12: And do we have it? Do you think we'll have
- 1:51:57Speaker 12: a viable option opportunity to get him or And then
- 1:52:01Speaker 12: I was thinking off though about the only person I
- 1:52:05Speaker 12: would draft at four would be Travis h Oner as
- 1:52:08Speaker 12: a receiver, and and Graham only bench press twenty four
- 1:52:13Speaker 12: reps and the guy that other Michigan guy only did
- 1:52:15Speaker 12: twenty two. What does that m And then that's like
- 1:52:18Speaker 12: the ten reps eleven less than what Donald did, Aaron Donald.
- 1:52:25Speaker 12: So that's a big difference in strength. I mean, is
- 1:52:28Speaker 12: that gonna?
- 1:52:29Speaker 8: Is that?
- 1:52:30Speaker 11: So that's my questions, guys, So thanks.
- 1:52:33Speaker 1: Brat, thanks for the call. We're both Donavan Edwards guys. Yeah,
- 1:52:37Speaker 1: good player. I think a ceiling is probably the fourth round.
- 1:52:39Speaker 2: Fourth fifth round. I wouldn't say he's the only player
- 1:52:41Speaker 2: in this draft that fits that role. He might be
- 1:52:44Speaker 2: one of the better options on Day three, but like
- 1:52:46Speaker 2: Cam scattabow similar, I wouldn't double up a tight end.
- 1:52:50Speaker 2: To the other question too, If you want to get
- 1:52:53Speaker 2: one project tight end, that's fine, But you know I've
- 1:52:55Speaker 2: been big on this. They need their draft picks to play. Yeah,
- 1:53:00Speaker 2: they need guys that are gonna make an impact, and
- 1:53:03Speaker 2: you already have Hunter and Hooper, so you're gonna get
- 1:53:06Speaker 2: two rookie tight ends on the field if they want to,
- 1:53:09Speaker 2: like in the seventh round, take like a Gavin Bartholomew
- 1:53:11Speaker 2: and that's the double dip whatever. But they should be
- 1:53:15Speaker 2: fine in this draft taking one tight end.
- 1:53:16Speaker 1: Yeah. I love the tight end class. I'm really high
- 1:53:19Speaker 1: on it. And when I did my mock draft, I
- 1:53:21Speaker 1: was trying to talk myself into taking tight ends, you know,
- 1:53:24Speaker 1: third fourth round, and I was just like, but, like,
- 1:53:26Speaker 1: he's not gonna play, you know, realistically, especially at that
- 1:53:30Speaker 1: position where typically it's it's a year one learning curve
- 1:53:33Speaker 1: for a lot of tight ends making the jump from
- 1:53:36Speaker 1: college to the NFL. There's has to do a lot
- 1:53:38Speaker 1: more blocking and a lot more of the details in
- 1:53:41Speaker 1: the NFL than they are in college and in receiving.
- 1:53:46Speaker 1: I mean honestly, like they don't throw the tight ends
- 1:53:48Speaker 1: in college. Like it's just all of it, Like all
- 1:53:50Speaker 1: of it is different, you know, in a higher volume
- 1:53:53Speaker 1: than in the college game. So if you envision a
- 1:53:56Speaker 1: tight end in this offense and then you think about, okay,
- 1:53:59Speaker 1: they're gonna have to earn playing time from two stable
- 1:54:02Speaker 1: veteran guys and Hunter Henry and Austin Hooper who already
- 1:54:06Speaker 1: have a rapport with the quarterback that have already played
- 1:54:08Speaker 1: in this offense before. Like, it's just hard to get there.
- 1:54:11Speaker 1: In my mind that that that guy would do it.
- 1:54:13Speaker 1: So I took Mitchell Evans from Notre Dame in the
- 1:54:16Speaker 1: fifth round of my of my mock a because of
- 1:54:19Speaker 1: where he's gonna go, you know, early day three I
- 1:54:21Speaker 1: think is a safe bet. And then B because he's
- 1:54:24Speaker 1: coming off that a CL like maybe he is a
- 1:54:26Speaker 1: couple of years removed from it and he's an even
- 1:54:28Speaker 1: better player, you know, in twenty twenty six.
- 1:54:30Speaker 2: So Michell Mitchell Evans, yeah.
- 1:54:32Speaker 1: From No. Dame towards a twenty twenty three.
- 1:54:35Speaker 2: Oh okay, I was just saying he played last year.
- 1:54:37Speaker 1: No, he played last year, but you always have that
- 1:54:39Speaker 1: like you're removed from the ACL, right.
- 1:54:41Speaker 2: Okay, I was gonna say he played in the National Championship.
- 1:54:43Speaker 5: Ye.
- 1:54:43Speaker 2: No, I like Mitchell lobs and he can block. Yeah,
- 1:54:45Speaker 2: so he's gonna be able to get on the field
- 1:54:47Speaker 2: because he'd probably be their best blocking title.
- 1:54:48Speaker 1: He'd probably be your third blocking tight end, third tight
- 1:54:51Speaker 1: end as a rookie. Maybe get him into some goal line.
- 1:54:54Speaker 2: That's kind of got stuff. That's kind of guy they
- 1:54:56Speaker 2: should be looking for. Yeah, I honestly, if they want
- 1:54:58Speaker 2: to double up a tight end Robb Utes, that's that's
- 1:55:02Speaker 2: what you're doing. You take a developmental tight end, take
- 1:55:04Speaker 2: a Mitchell No, you take like a Mitchell Evans or
- 1:55:08Speaker 2: Terrence Ferguson or somebody early on day three, and then
- 1:55:11Speaker 2: you take robb you utes later, who's going to be
- 1:55:13Speaker 2: kind of a move fall back. But he can line
- 1:55:15Speaker 2: up on the line of scrimmage, put his hand in
- 1:55:17Speaker 2: the dirt and do all that if you need him
- 1:55:18Speaker 2: too as well. That's how I would double up a
- 1:55:20Speaker 2: tight end.
- 1:55:20Speaker 1: All of a sudden, we got all these calls coming in.
- 1:55:22Speaker 2: Great. If you a rapid rapid fire lightning round.
- 1:55:25Speaker 1: Tyler's in Cincinnati. What's up Tyler lightning round?
- 1:55:29Speaker 12: Guys.
- 1:55:31Speaker 15: I just want to know if you guys had looked
- 1:55:34Speaker 15: potentially like late round pick, maybe like Tommy Malott or
- 1:55:39Speaker 15: Tommy Malow. He's a quarterback, former wide receiver from like
- 1:55:43Speaker 15: Montana State. I was just wondering if you guys looked
- 1:55:45Speaker 15: into him and all what your thoughts were for like
- 1:55:47Speaker 15: a late round pick.
- 1:55:48Speaker 1: Thanks, Yeah, I've heard of Tommy Merlow. I'll give you that.
- 1:55:52Speaker 2: I mean, no, we're still chasing Edelman and he's an
- 1:55:55Speaker 2: option quarterback at it's of success at the FCS level.
- 1:55:58Speaker 2: It's played a little bit of wide rect. He's gonna
- 1:56:00Speaker 2: be a late day three pick or UDFA and it's him,
- 1:56:03Speaker 2: and is it ft Chisholm? Right, Yeah, like that who
- 1:56:07Speaker 2: I think was a quarterback before more receiver he is
- 1:56:10Speaker 2: a receiver.
- 1:56:11Speaker 1: Is at one of the All Star games. I don't
- 1:56:13Speaker 1: remember what, Yeah it was, but yeah, I've I saw
- 1:56:18Speaker 1: him a little bit. I don't know if it was
- 1:56:19Speaker 1: the Shriner, the Senior Bowl. I feel like he was
- 1:56:21Speaker 1: at one of those games. I could be wrong, but yeah,
- 1:56:24Speaker 1: I mean you know we're chasing Edelman.
- 1:56:27Speaker 2: You're right, yeah, And I mean look bring him in
- 1:56:29Speaker 2: as the udf A, see what happen. Sure, Like I'm
- 1:56:31Speaker 2: not against.
- 1:56:32Speaker 1: Those guys are theoretically with McDaniel's back, you know, in
- 1:56:36Speaker 1: play Gunner Oshsky, Riley, Mccaeron Braxon, Barrios, Julian Edelman, Like
- 1:56:40Speaker 1: those guys are all kind of back in play, right,
- 1:56:42Speaker 1: you know? Yeah? Why why are you laughing.
- 1:56:46Speaker 2: You know why I'm laughing?
- 1:56:46Speaker 1: All right? Uh, Chet is in Philly. What's up? Chet?
- 1:56:52Speaker 8: Hey?
- 1:56:52Speaker 6: What's up?
- 1:56:52Speaker 10: Guys.
- 1:56:53Speaker 4: I appreciate you guys taking.
- 1:56:54Speaker 1: The call, no problem.
- 1:56:55Speaker 2: What are you doing good?
- 1:56:58Speaker 4: Evan bick Fanny. I follow you on Twitter. You bring
- 1:57:01Speaker 4: me a lot of my stuff. What I'll say is,
- 1:57:03Speaker 4: first off, like I really appreciate that you guys don't
- 1:57:05Speaker 4: do a lot of the gas lighting that we get
- 1:57:06Speaker 4: from the regular radio, but you know, to actually talk
- 1:57:09Speaker 4: football as much as you know, we're like we're going
- 1:57:14Speaker 4: off about the whole mac Hollands thing and all of
- 1:57:17Speaker 4: the lack of super high end depth. I'm happy that
- 1:57:20Speaker 4: you guys actually realized and talked about already that like
- 1:57:23Speaker 4: there's not gonna be a superstar guy that's gonna leave
- 1:57:27Speaker 4: their good situation to try to come to this rebuilding team,
- 1:57:30Speaker 4: and we're gonna actually have to build from the ground up.
- 1:57:32Speaker 4: And now I will also say, like we still have
- 1:57:35Speaker 4: a couple pieces that like we can probably take a
- 1:57:38Speaker 4: couple of mid round flyers, like you know, all of
- 1:57:40Speaker 4: those Trey Harris type guys, those around two round three
- 1:57:43Speaker 4: type receivers, those Jaden Higgins guys in round two, round three,
- 1:57:46Speaker 4: try to take a flyer on one of those and
- 1:57:48Speaker 4: actually hope that, like you know, a couple of these
- 1:57:51Speaker 4: young guys developed, like a lot of people aren't really
- 1:57:53Speaker 4: talking about them. But when I watched him in the
- 1:57:55Speaker 4: preseason last year, the guy that I would have thought
- 1:57:57Speaker 4: would have got cut after the preseason, they stowed to
- 1:57:59Speaker 4: quick Jackson away last year, and I was a really
- 1:58:02Speaker 4: big fan of watching him in the preseason. I was
- 1:58:04Speaker 4: the guy that caught the post from Joe Milton in
- 1:58:07Speaker 4: the preseason, if you remember him, and they kept him
- 1:58:09Speaker 4: around all year despite him being hurt and being like
- 1:58:11Speaker 4: a small school prospect. So I'm very intrigued to how
- 1:58:14Speaker 4: good he could be and maybe he might be that
- 1:58:17Speaker 4: damnfield director. He has that kind of Calvin Ridley, and
- 1:58:20Speaker 4: I don't know, if you notice the social media, his
- 1:58:21Speaker 4: name is Quae rid He played Division two football from
- 1:58:25Speaker 4: California University of PA and his nickname was quite ridd
- 1:58:29Speaker 4: because people say he used to move like Calvin Ridley.
- 1:58:31Speaker 4: So I don't know, I feel like maybe he could
- 1:58:33Speaker 4: be one of those guys that might make a little
- 1:58:35Speaker 4: splash as the person that nobody's really thinking about in
- 1:58:37Speaker 4: this offense.
- 1:58:38Speaker 1: Thanks for the college. I appreciate it, and I appreciate
- 1:58:41Speaker 1: you guys following us and everything. I always say the
- 1:58:44Speaker 1: same thing about guys like that, like, great if it happens.
- 1:58:47Speaker 1: I'm not counting on it by any means, but yeah, look,
- 1:58:50Speaker 1: I understand that some people think I give this take,
- 1:58:52Speaker 1: and you know, I'm trying to carry water and things
- 1:58:55Speaker 1: like that, but there's just a long way to go,
- 1:58:57Speaker 1: and you and I are big draft guys. To us.
- 1:59:00Speaker 1: The draft is a big thing, you know. You know,
- 1:59:02Speaker 1: you add a lot of talent if you're good at
- 1:59:05Speaker 1: it through the draft. And I understand that people Patriots
- 1:59:08Speaker 1: Nation is probably a little bit skeptical about their ability
- 1:59:12Speaker 1: to draft, especially outside the first round. You know, Christian
- 1:59:14Speaker 1: Gonzales and Drake may were great picks, but they don't
- 1:59:17Speaker 1: really have much to show out of those two classes
- 1:59:19Speaker 1: outside of those two guys. So I get all of that,
- 1:59:22Speaker 1: but I would just say, you know, let's wait until
- 1:59:25Speaker 1: we overreact about the lack of weapons until after, you know,
- 1:59:29Speaker 1: April twenty sixth, when the draft is over. Because if
- 1:59:32Speaker 1: Travis Hunters on this football team, if Ted McMillan's on
- 1:59:35Speaker 1: this football team, if Luther Burden's on this football team.
- 1:59:39Speaker 1: It's gonna change how we feel about the team. And
- 1:59:42Speaker 1: they're gonna take a receiver in the top one hundred.
- 1:59:44Speaker 1: I feel confident saying that. I don't know if it'll
- 1:59:46Speaker 1: be first round, third round, I don't know where, but
- 1:59:48Speaker 1: they're gonna take a receiver and hopefully they take the
- 1:59:51Speaker 1: right one right And I understand that that hasn't gone
- 1:59:53Speaker 1: well for them. I totally do, but I just want
- 1:59:56Speaker 1: to I don't want to get out over my skis.
- 1:59:58Speaker 1: And Week one, you know, free agency, where are the weapons?
- 2:00:01Speaker 1: They're neglecting the offense. And then in April, all of
- 2:00:04Speaker 1: a sudden, you know, Travis Hunter is being presented on
- 2:00:06Speaker 1: the field as their first round pick. We're all gonna
- 2:00:08Speaker 1: look like morons. So just yeah, let's see what happened.
- 2:00:10Speaker 2: Look, we can do you can do it all collectively,
- 2:00:13Speaker 2: is what I'll tell people. Why aren't you talking about it, because,
- 2:00:15Speaker 2: like you said, it's in process, and we even talked
- 2:00:17Speaker 2: about earlier. We don't love that they missed out on
- 2:00:19Speaker 2: DK Metcalf. If they don't have receivers to If they
- 2:00:22Speaker 2: don't have receivers today, they're still not gonna have receivers
- 2:00:25Speaker 2: on April twenty seventh. Addressing it on April twenty seventh
- 2:00:28Speaker 2: is no different, right, It's it's even more so.
- 2:00:31Speaker 5: So.
- 2:00:32Speaker 2: I mean, I'm with you. I think they'll ad somebody.
- 2:00:34Speaker 2: Will it be enough? I don't know. But yeah, well,
- 2:00:37Speaker 2: well I'm not gonna fault them for not drafting receivers
- 2:00:41Speaker 2: before the draft. I'll talk about DK Metcalf because I
- 2:00:44Speaker 2: think that was a missed opportunity, but I'm not gonna
- 2:00:45Speaker 2: go further than that yet.
- 2:00:46Speaker 1: Yeah, I know, we have these two last calls and
- 2:00:48Speaker 1: we got to wrap it up, but just really quickly.
- 2:00:50Speaker 1: I also have come to terms with the fact I
- 2:00:52Speaker 1: guess that they might need proof of concept before they
- 2:00:56Speaker 1: draw the DK Metcalf the Chris God And by proof
- 2:01:01Speaker 1: of concept, you know, I go back to the Bills.
- 2:01:03Speaker 1: I know. I know. Josh Allen, YadA, YadA, YadA, gold
- 2:01:06Speaker 1: bye boy. Josh Allen in his second season goes ten
- 2:01:10Speaker 1: and six, makes the playoffs. They they don't. I think.
- 2:01:13Speaker 1: I don't think they won the playoff game, but they
- 2:01:15Speaker 1: were in the playoffs.
- 2:01:16Speaker 2: Is that the other loss to the Ravens they.
- 2:01:18Speaker 1: Lost in the wild card round? I believe, but don't
- 2:01:20Speaker 1: quote me on that. The main point is that they're
- 2:01:23Speaker 1: ten and six, they have proof of concept. Josh Allen
- 2:01:26Speaker 1: turns a corner. He looks like a franchise quarterback. The
- 2:01:29Speaker 1: next offseason they traded for Stefan Diggs. Yeah, right, and
- 2:01:32Speaker 1: Stefan Diggs opted to go to Buffalo, like he said, Yes,
- 2:01:36Speaker 1: I will go here because of Josh Allen and because
- 2:01:39Speaker 1: of the program that they were already building in the contract.
- 2:01:42Speaker 1: So sure, but that, yeah, goes hand in hand with everybody.
- 2:01:45Speaker 1: If you build that, if you build it, they will
- 2:01:47Speaker 1: come right. Yeah, So if they have a nice season
- 2:01:50Speaker 1: next year, doesn't have to be ten and six in
- 2:01:51Speaker 1: the playoffs. But let's say they're eight and nine.
- 2:01:53Speaker 2: I think they might have sneaked in the playoffs for
- 2:01:55Speaker 2: what you're talking.
- 2:01:56Speaker 1: But let's say they're eight and nine and Drake May
- 2:01:58Speaker 1: throws for four thousand yards and looks like an absolute dog.
- 2:02:01Speaker 1: It is just a dude, right.
- 2:02:03Speaker 2: With this defense, they should not go eight nine. I
- 2:02:06Speaker 2: Drake May's thorn.
- 2:02:06Speaker 1: For four Okay, But I'm just saying, just play on this, Okay,
- 2:02:09Speaker 1: they Drake May has a great second season. Mike Rabel
- 2:02:13Speaker 1: is what we think. Mike Rabel is as a head coach.
- 2:02:16Speaker 1: They are building there on this upward trajectory. That then
- 2:02:20Speaker 1: and maybe then you can draw the big fish at
- 2:02:23Speaker 1: wide receiver. So it might not be this offseason, but
- 2:02:27Speaker 1: maybe it's next offseason. And that's okay. That's the timeline.
- 2:02:30Speaker 1: That's the timeline that they're on right now. Ryan is
- 2:02:33Speaker 1: in Texas. What's up, Ryan? We got to be quick
- 2:02:35Speaker 1: with these calls. What's up?
- 2:02:37Speaker 14: Hey, Hey, guys, I'll try to make you quick here.
- 2:02:39Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 2:02:40Speaker 14: Would you guys rather see Travis obviously, Travis Carter, Travis
- 2:02:46Speaker 14: or Carter at number four if they're available, but would
- 2:02:49Speaker 14: you rather see Tet at four in wait for Connolly
- 2:02:52Speaker 14: or Erstree potentially trading back up into the first round
- 2:02:55Speaker 14: with that third round pick that we have, or are
- 2:02:58Speaker 14: you guys taking a tackle at four to kind of
- 2:03:01Speaker 14: address the issues that we have on the left side
- 2:03:03Speaker 14: of the line.
- 2:03:04Speaker 1: Yeah? Thanks, Ryan, that seems to be the number one question.
- 2:03:06Speaker 1: I think we're both in the same camp. We're taking
- 2:03:09Speaker 1: Hunter Carter if they're.
- 2:03:10Speaker 2: There, Yeah, Carter Hunter won two in that order.
- 2:03:13Speaker 1: If they're not there, I think the Patriots will take
- 2:03:16Speaker 1: Will Campbell. That's what I think they will do. But
- 2:03:19Speaker 1: I would probably take a.
- 2:03:21Speaker 2: Receiver there still you would take Ted McMillan.
- 2:03:23Speaker 1: I probably.
- 2:03:23Speaker 2: Well, No, we did this exercise earlier. You said you
- 2:03:25Speaker 2: would take Campbell.
- 2:03:26Speaker 1: I think they'll take Campbell.
- 2:03:28Speaker 2: No, you said you would. We did, said you editor
- 2:03:30Speaker 2: on the.
- 2:03:31Speaker 1: Climb all over the place. Now I don't know.
- 2:03:33Speaker 2: I said, you're on the clock. We're getting we did
- 2:03:36Speaker 2: exact exercise. You're you personally are running the team. You're
- 2:03:40Speaker 2: on the clock, Carter, I said, I'm both gone, there's
- 2:03:42Speaker 2: no calls, okay.
- 2:03:44Speaker 1: And you said Campbell. Okay, all right, you're right. I
- 2:03:46Speaker 1: did say Campbell. I'll stick with Campbell.
- 2:03:48Speaker 2: Okay, but what.
- 2:03:49Speaker 1: I'd rather happen would obviously be to take a Kylie
- 2:03:52Speaker 1: Travis Hunter and then trade back up into the first round. Yeah,
- 2:03:55Speaker 1: but if that's not if that's not a scenario, Campbell Campbell, Okay, Okay,
- 2:04:00Speaker 1: he did that exact exercise.
- 2:04:02Speaker 2: I'm just making sure you're consistent. Yeah, I don't want
- 2:04:04Speaker 2: people changing your opinion.
- 2:04:05Speaker 1: Oh, they do it all the time.
- 2:04:06Speaker 2: I know. I'm trying to help you out. I'm looking
- 2:04:08Speaker 2: out for you.
- 2:04:09Speaker 1: Okay. Ben is in Philly. What's up? Ben?
- 2:04:13Speaker 8: Hey, guys, how are you good?
- 2:04:15Speaker 1: How are you doing well.
- 2:04:18Speaker 16: I'm just curious on your take. Do you think it
- 2:04:20Speaker 16: is possible for the Patriots to develop a wide receiver
- 2:04:23Speaker 16: at this point or is a player like Will Campbell
- 2:04:26Speaker 16: just more dependable because of their development history.
- 2:04:31Speaker 1: Yeah, thanks for the call, Ben. This was something else
- 2:04:33Speaker 1: that we talked about yesterday on PU that is starting
- 2:04:36Speaker 1: to like, you know, I don't know if irritates the
- 2:04:39Speaker 1: right word, but like I don't, I don't really understand
- 2:04:42Speaker 1: what like their failure with Nikhil Harry or Taekwon Thoron
- 2:04:45Speaker 1: has anything to do with Mike Rabel. Like, Mike Rabel
- 2:04:48Speaker 1: is not here when those things happen. He was not
- 2:04:50Speaker 1: the head coach, he was not the the What I
- 2:04:53Speaker 1: think is the is the lead football czar in New England.
- 2:04:58Speaker 1: Mike Rabel, like Mike able to not draft those guys,
- 2:05:01Speaker 1: He did not coach those guys, and it has nothing
- 2:05:03Speaker 1: to do with him.
- 2:05:03Speaker 2: Well, Josh McDaniels was here for Nikhil Harry, sure.
- 2:05:06Speaker 1: But my point being is just I'm not gonna hold
- 2:05:09Speaker 1: Nikhil Harry, Taekwon Thorion, Aaron Dobson, Chad Jackson like I'm
- 2:05:13Speaker 1: not gonna hold Hale pol Bethel Johnson. I'm not gonna
- 2:05:16Speaker 1: hold those guys against Mike Rabel. I'm not.
- 2:05:19Speaker 2: I'll say this, Todd Downing has never coached receivers before.
- 2:05:22Speaker 2: Very experienced offensive coach, but he's never been hands on
- 2:05:25Speaker 2: with receivers in that role. We'll see.
- 2:05:27Speaker 1: It's variable. I'm I just until they burn me on
- 2:05:32Speaker 1: a receiver and it fails.
- 2:05:34Speaker 2: No, it's that's absolutely fair. It is a different group,
- 2:05:37Speaker 2: but it's not a group. I guess it is, and
- 2:05:40Speaker 2: it isn't. Rabel developed a j Brown who was down
- 2:05:44Speaker 2: Downing wasn't the OC for that, right?
- 2:05:46Speaker 1: That might have been Arthur Smith.
- 2:05:48Speaker 2: How was Arthur Smith? Okay, So if Rabel has Downing
- 2:05:51Speaker 2: hasn't McDaniels, there's a weird track record there because missed
- 2:05:55Speaker 2: on guys like Harry, but also developed Jacoby Myers. So
- 2:06:00Speaker 2: the track record for this group, if I'm with you,
- 2:06:03Speaker 2: don't don't put it on the old group. This group
- 2:06:05Speaker 2: that's in charge is a mixed track record of doing it.
- 2:06:08Speaker 2: There's some hits, there's some missus. That's fair, so we'll see.
- 2:06:11Speaker 2: I don't think your point's not wrong. But that also
- 2:06:13Speaker 2: doesn't mean that they can develop.
- 2:06:14Speaker 1: A guy if you want to go to Rabel's time
- 2:06:16Speaker 1: in Tennessee. I know I've got a rap, But if
- 2:06:18Speaker 1: you want to go to Rabel's time in Tennessee and
- 2:06:20Speaker 1: hold that him accountable for those picks, I don't think.
- 2:06:23Speaker 1: I think he was forced into trading aj Brown and yes,
- 2:06:26Speaker 1: drafting Traylon Burks, but we both at the time were like,
- 2:06:29Speaker 1: what are they doing?
- 2:06:30Speaker 2: That was the birth of one of our favorite idioms. Yeah,
- 2:06:33Speaker 2: the mystery box in the boat. Yeah, Traylon Burks was
- 2:06:36Speaker 2: not the right pick there, he was not the boat. No,
- 2:06:38Speaker 2: So we can hold him accountable for all of that.
- 2:06:41Speaker 2: But I also am not going to.
- 2:06:43Speaker 1: Hold nik kill Harry against him, Like I'm not going
- 2:06:45Speaker 1: to say that this regime has an issue with developing receivers.
- 2:06:49Speaker 2: But Josh McDaniels was here for kil Harry, I guess,
- 2:06:52Speaker 2: but he was also here for Jacobe Myers, like it
- 2:06:54Speaker 2: goes it it depends.
- 2:06:55Speaker 1: I know, But like I just he was here as
- 2:06:57Speaker 1: the offensive coordinator. We all know who was making the
- 2:07:00Speaker 1: calls when he was here, Like, yeah, I mean, he
- 2:07:03Speaker 1: wasn't the one making the picks.
- 2:07:04Speaker 2: I don't think. My point is you can't say anything
- 2:07:07Speaker 2: definitive about this group and it comes to wide receiverses,
- 2:07:09Speaker 2: not enough evidence one way or the other.
- 2:07:12Speaker 1: I don't have any confidence in what the Patriots should
- 2:07:14Speaker 1: do at four overall, apparently, but Bridgetone does, and it's
- 2:07:17Speaker 1: important to have. When you're on the road. With Bridgetones
