- 0:04Speaker 2: So you've got that whole seat to yourself.
- 0:06Speaker 1: No pressure pockets.
- 0:10Speaker 3: That's that's a really annoying thing, right, would you talk
- 0:13Speaker 3: into that for of course? No problem.
- 0:17Speaker 1: How do you go with how we did for you?
- 0:19Speaker 1: Did you?
- 0:19Speaker 2: Oh?
- 0:20Speaker 3: I loved it a good yes, thank you so much
- 0:23Speaker 3: that we had some week so.
- 0:25Speaker 2: I thought, oh my god, sorry, not.
- 0:32Speaker 3: Right, not right.
- 0:35Speaker 1: I don't even think to do honest.
- 0:37Speaker 3: Yeah, probably it's not on Yeah, so just just here,
- 0:41Speaker 3: it's fine.
- 0:41Speaker 2: Yeah, cool, all right, thanks for joining us. This is
- 0:48Speaker 2: Cara and Chris at Good Things twenty twenty four with
- 0:51Speaker 2: money from a bit of a chat before she goes
- 0:55Speaker 2: on stage.
- 0:55Speaker 1: Thanks for joining us.
- 0:56Speaker 3: Thank you pleasures online just as usual. Just quickly, are
- 1:01Speaker 3: we live? I didn't think so it's.
- 1:03Speaker 2: Actually Relica Yeah, okay.
- 1:06Speaker 3: Sorry, I just just think reliquois. So it's not a
- 1:11Speaker 3: song cue. I just it's more for your sake. I'm
- 1:14Speaker 3: not I'm not like precious about that. I swear it. No,
- 1:20Speaker 3: I'm just glad. That's so great.
- 1:25Speaker 1: Okay again, this is twenty four with a monique from
- 1:33Speaker 1: a Relica.
- 1:34Speaker 3: Hi, I'm great how are you.
- 1:37Speaker 1: Thanks you for taking the time.
- 1:39Speaker 3: To join us, of course pleasures online.
- 1:40Speaker 2: So you're actually on stage probably about four hours.
- 1:43Speaker 3: Something like that.
- 1:44Speaker 1: You look like you're pretty collective together.
- 1:46Speaker 3: But I think so, you know, it's been weird. I
- 1:49Speaker 3: think I had a moment to myself just a few
- 1:51Speaker 3: minutes ago because I've been you know, we're rushing around
- 1:54Speaker 3: getting here, rolling in like I don't know all of
- 1:57Speaker 3: those things, and only just stood by myself with the
- 1:59Speaker 3: last a few minutes and I was like, we're actually
- 2:02Speaker 3: playing today, Like you know, you get so caught up
- 2:05Speaker 3: in the commotion you're just like, oh, I'm just like
- 2:07Speaker 3: going with the flow. And then I think the nerve,
- 2:09Speaker 3: I think the nerves set in like a few minutes
- 2:11Speaker 3: to go. So I'm kind of I'm up here right now,
- 2:13Speaker 3: but don't want to many. No, No, We're feeling good.
- 2:18Speaker 3: I'm I'm really happy already. This has just been like
- 2:21Speaker 3: the star treatment, which is so nice, like it just
- 2:24Speaker 3: makes the experience. It's pretty spacious in here. Honestly, I
- 2:37Speaker 3: think we're pretty go go go, Like I I find
- 2:39Speaker 3: that we we don't tend to take too much downtime.
- 2:43Speaker 3: We're usually just like always doing something I just love
- 2:48Speaker 3: to be kind of amongst it. Like I only lately
- 2:51Speaker 3: I've really been giving myself the space to kind of
- 2:54Speaker 3: have a minute alone and get myself ready and obviously
- 2:57Speaker 3: like get into my fit and the whole get up
- 2:59Speaker 3: and everything. So that's kind of a nice ritual, is Like,
- 3:02Speaker 3: I mean, pretty much after this I'm gonna go head
- 3:04Speaker 3: down to our tent and like do my face just
- 3:08Speaker 3: scream like into the void. So, you know, like I
- 3:12Speaker 3: think in terms of rituals, it's just giving myself that
- 3:16Speaker 3: that little bit of time alone, you know, like because
- 3:19Speaker 3: I do feel somewhat of a separation anxiety with the
- 3:23Speaker 3: rest of my band when it comes to shows. I'm
- 3:25Speaker 3: just like, oh, I always want to Ben come with
- 3:27Speaker 3: me or Brandon come with me or whatever. But I
- 3:30Speaker 3: think there's a nice grace in sort of just being
- 3:33Speaker 3: by yourself sometimes. Yeah. Energy, energy, Oh my gosh, I'm
- 3:42Speaker 3: so happy to be here.
- 3:45Speaker 2: So you've had a huge year.
- 3:46Speaker 4: I feel like I've seen your name's.
- 3:55Speaker 3: Let me just get out there, and I think it's
- 3:58Speaker 3: really good. I think the best part is that this
- 4:00Speaker 3: is the end of the year. Like this is I mean,
- 4:02Speaker 3: this is the start of the end in terms of
- 4:04Speaker 3: twenty twenty four. So it just feels like a really
- 4:07Speaker 3: nice like way to close the chapter, which has been,
- 4:10Speaker 3: like you said, like such a big chapter. And you know, yeah,
- 4:14Speaker 3: like you said, like with releasing the album this year
- 4:16Speaker 3: and and doing quite a couple of really cool tours,
- 4:19Speaker 3: including our first headliner like tour, which was sick. We're
- 4:24Speaker 3: so happy with how that went. But yeah, I think
- 4:26Speaker 3: just being here today just feels like I'm trying to
- 4:29Speaker 3: really take those moments of gratitude and realize that this
- 4:33Speaker 3: is a really nice way to just sort of like
- 4:34Speaker 3: full circle the year. Yeah, and you did the world
- 4:40Speaker 3: amazing And how do you feel like it has actually
- 4:43Speaker 3: landed in the world, Like, how are you feeling about it? Well,
- 4:47Speaker 3: I'm pretty happy with how Secrets of the Future has
- 4:48Speaker 3: gone so far. I think it's a bit of an
- 4:52Speaker 3: interesting No, don't stress at all. Did you want me?
- 4:56Speaker 3: Did you? I just wanted to seamlessly correct. I I
- 4:59Speaker 3: just went, do you want to do that again? Like,
- 5:02Speaker 3: go ahead, I'm chilling, I'll do whatever you like. Yeah,
- 5:12Speaker 3: of the world? Did you say Secrets of the Future?
- 5:14Speaker 2: Ye? Place in the world?
- 5:17Speaker 3: You know? No? No, No, you did good. It's okay.
- 5:22Speaker 3: You've had a massive year and everything is going on.
- 5:25Speaker 1: You just released Secrets of the Future, which is amazing.
- 5:28Speaker 3: Thank you. How is this place in the world. I
- 5:31Speaker 3: think I'm really happy. I think it's I think that
- 5:37Speaker 3: our music is not an easy genre to define, as
- 5:39Speaker 3: you know, Chris, I we it's it can take some
- 5:44Speaker 3: people some time to really like find what they love
- 5:47Speaker 3: in the album or like. But I think that that's
- 5:49Speaker 3: kind of the exact purpose of of Like that was
- 5:51Speaker 3: the rationale of the album, you know what I mean,
- 5:53Speaker 3: Like we wanted to fit something in there for everyone's taste,
- 5:59Speaker 3: and that's kind of just what we do as a band,
- 6:01Speaker 3: like we because all four of us have such diverse
- 6:04Speaker 3: different styles of listening from each other that that sort
- 6:08Speaker 3: of manifests in an album that tends to be pretty
- 6:10Speaker 3: diverse in terms of sound. So but I think that
- 6:14Speaker 3: I'm really grateful for the people who have like really
- 6:16Speaker 3: stuck with it, because I think we've just we've just
- 6:19Speaker 3: gained a lot of not just fans, because we have
- 6:22Speaker 3: gained a lot of fans from this album, which is
- 6:24Speaker 3: so so sweet. And the labels help, you know, having
- 6:27Speaker 3: a Nuclear Blast and Gray Scale on our side, rapping
- 6:29Speaker 3: Gray scales. Actually having them on our side helps with
- 6:33Speaker 3: the fan based growth, of course, But I think it's
- 6:35Speaker 3: not just size, it's like connection. Like I'm finding the
- 6:41Speaker 3: fans that are around and are really loving this album.
- 6:44Speaker 3: They are so like deeply in love and passionate about it,
- 6:47Speaker 3: which I love because I would rather have fifty of
- 6:51Speaker 3: those fans than five hundred of fans who just kind
- 6:55Speaker 3: of yeah, that's okay, you know. So really the passion,
- 6:58Speaker 3: I think is what I'm loving so much. The and
- 7:01Speaker 3: and seeing such a diversity in terms of our of
- 7:04Speaker 3: our listenership, in terms of our fan base, people that
- 7:06Speaker 3: listen to all kinds of different things. For example, Spotify
- 7:09Speaker 3: rap just came out, Yeah, and we're getting tagged in
- 7:12Speaker 3: all the like oh Relica is my number one, which
- 7:14Speaker 3: is so sweet. But those lists look so different every time.
- 7:19Speaker 3: One time it'll be like Relica, North Lane, Void Division,
- 7:22Speaker 3: you know, like your standard like Aussie metal core sort
- 7:24Speaker 3: of vibes. Sometimes it'll be like Vola Voyager, your more
- 7:29Speaker 3: prog sort of style. And then sometimes it'll be like
- 7:31Speaker 3: Doja Cat Chapel Roone, Relica, you know what I mean. Like,
- 7:36Speaker 3: I find that's so cool, like different fan bases like
- 7:40Speaker 3: just come together here, which is really nice at the.
- 7:43Speaker 2: Job in the album come out, Like a lot was
- 7:44Speaker 2: made of the fact that it was the start of
- 7:45Speaker 2: a new chapter because it's calming down so well and
- 7:49Speaker 2: people accepted. Is there temptation there to sort of continue
- 7:53Speaker 2: on that rather than making a new chapter?
- 7:55Speaker 3: I feel you. I think there absolutely is. Like I
- 7:58Speaker 3: think we're still sort of figuring our place in the world,
- 8:01Speaker 3: like you said, where you know, coming coming through the
- 8:04Speaker 3: through the ranks, and we definitely have a lot of
- 8:07Speaker 3: freedom to sort of just keep doing what feels right
- 8:11Speaker 3: as opposed to sticking ourselves into a particular niche. I
- 8:15Speaker 3: think like our next record is probably going to be
- 8:18Speaker 3: like some form of a continuation of Secrets of the Future.
- 8:21Speaker 3: But it's not like Secrets of the Future was like
- 8:24Speaker 3: an open and closed book, you know what I mean,
- 8:26Speaker 3: Like it's I don't think that chapter is ever going
- 8:28Speaker 3: to fully shut because we're we're kind of always writing
- 8:31Speaker 3: music that is like a direct step like development from
- 8:34Speaker 3: what we just did. So I think that whatever we
- 8:37Speaker 3: do next, it's going to flow quite logically. And I mean,
- 8:41Speaker 3: who knows what that means When it comes to Relica
- 8:43Speaker 3: because there's lots of different sounds that we do. But
- 8:47Speaker 3: as logically as you can think, you know, like just
- 8:49Speaker 3: sort of like a nice linear progression like I think
- 8:52Speaker 3: just time will tell.
- 8:54Speaker 4: Really bands, young bands like yourselves like play safe and
- 9:00Speaker 4: they like to go down the road where massive scepts
- 9:02Speaker 4: for you guys, just like you say you smash it
- 9:05Speaker 4: and not that you don't give a fuck what people think,
- 9:07Speaker 4: but you don't give fuck what people think, so you care,
- 9:10Speaker 4: but you're just doing your own thing and you're not
- 9:12Speaker 4: playing it safe.
- 9:13Speaker 1: I'm trying to say, like, not many young bands come
- 9:15Speaker 1: to and keep.
- 9:16Speaker 3: That thank you, No, that's really really kind for you
- 9:19Speaker 3: to say. Yeah, it's kind of just like the main
- 9:21Speaker 3: ethos of our band is just to make music that
- 9:24Speaker 3: inspires us, that we feel inspired by and kind of
- 9:27Speaker 3: just have no hold barred. Like, while it is important
- 9:31Speaker 3: to have limitations in artistry because otherwise you could just
- 9:34Speaker 3: you have the entire universe of creativity to explore, but
- 9:38Speaker 3: you don't really know where you can go from there.
- 9:41Speaker 3: So limitation is good. But in saying that, we don't
- 9:44Speaker 3: try to limit ourselves to any particular genres and as
- 9:47Speaker 3: I said, we just welcome the fans that come in
- 9:50Speaker 3: as a result of that lack of limitations.
- 9:53Speaker 1: I guess, yeah, guy's got the question She've been dying
- 9:55Speaker 1: to ask you.
- 9:56Speaker 3: Please can we talk about? Please? Can we talk about
- 10:02Speaker 3: hail Storm?
- 10:03Speaker 1: I just I couldn't even imagine like get going and
- 10:07Speaker 1: doing this.
- 10:07Speaker 3: Yeah, how was it and what did.
- 10:09Speaker 1: You take from that experience to implement in the band?
- 10:11Speaker 3: Like you just I'm so glad that you asked about this,
- 10:15Speaker 3: because I will take any opportunity that I can to
- 10:18Speaker 3: talk about Lizzie Hale and hail Storm. They She's just wonderful.
- 10:23Speaker 3: And I think I said this to Tiana Speed. I
- 10:26Speaker 3: shout out to Tiana when around the time that we
- 10:29Speaker 3: were sort of reflecting on it, and I said something
- 10:31Speaker 3: along the lines of, like Lizzie and the rest of
- 10:34Speaker 3: the band, they have every right to be jaded and
- 10:38Speaker 3: sort of a bit like a bit I don't know,
- 10:43Speaker 3: pessimistic about the industry. Jaded is the only word I
- 10:46Speaker 3: can think of, like, sort of they have every right
- 10:48Speaker 3: to be because they've been slogging along from the ground
- 10:51Speaker 3: up for twenty plus years, but they are not. They
- 10:55Speaker 3: It's as if they play their first gig every night
- 10:58Speaker 3: because they are so like just grateful to be there,
- 11:03Speaker 3: and they share that gratitude with us as well. They
- 11:06Speaker 3: were grateful for us to be there. And I spent
- 11:08Speaker 3: like so much more time with Lizzie than you would think,
- 11:11Speaker 3: you know, like she has again, they have every right
- 11:14Speaker 3: to close themselves off, to just get in their dressing
- 11:17Speaker 3: room and like not talk to anybody, and I would
- 11:19Speaker 3: be okay with that, because you know, they have big,
- 11:21Speaker 3: big shoes to feel every night. But no, they they
- 11:25Speaker 3: were just the most lovely people. And I think that
- 11:28Speaker 3: I think I've learnt, like I've taken away lessons to
- 11:31Speaker 3: you know, just just kind of I know this sounds cheesy,
- 11:34Speaker 3: but just to always be grateful and to realize that,
- 11:36Speaker 3: like this is such a privilege to be sharing art
- 11:39Speaker 3: and everything that I'm saying right now came directly from
- 11:42Speaker 3: Lizzie's mouth, like straight to me, and she just I mean, yeah,
- 11:46Speaker 3: I've I've been a fan of hers and the band
- 11:49Speaker 3: since high school. They were one of my formative bands.
- 11:51Speaker 3: So it was such a special experience and it is
- 11:59Speaker 3: so so powerful. And she was actually battling a chest
- 12:03Speaker 3: infection on that tour, and you would not know, right,
- 12:05Speaker 3: you wouldn't know at all. But she you know, she'd
- 12:07Speaker 3: come off stage and she'd have some rehabilitation to do
- 12:10Speaker 3: and stuff, but she never she never let up once.
- 12:13Speaker 3: You'd always think that, like you have every right, like
- 12:16Speaker 3: please just go and sit down or go and like
- 12:18Speaker 3: like shut off the rest of the world. That's okay,
- 12:20Speaker 3: go back to the hotel. But no, she was on
- 12:22Speaker 3: the ground like with everyone getting amongst it the entire time.
- 12:26Speaker 3: And I just I could not speak highly enough of
- 12:28Speaker 3: that band, truly, truly, such a great advocate. I guess so,
- 12:37Speaker 3: I guess you're right. Go please, please.
- 12:42Speaker 2: Out of all the bands play, give.
- 12:48Speaker 3: The members. Oh my god, I can't go down to
- 12:50Speaker 3: the members, but I'm gonna see if I can get
- 12:52Speaker 3: five bands that would make like the ultimate group. Okay,
- 12:56Speaker 3: let's start off with Loath. I started watching, I watched,
- 12:59Speaker 3: started the day with them. This morning. They were so sick.
- 13:02Speaker 3: I mean, if I was going down to the members,
- 13:04Speaker 3: I'm sorry, I don't know his name, but the front man,
- 13:07Speaker 3: that guy's got riz like he's like is that what
- 13:11Speaker 3: the kids say these days? He's he's got style. I
- 13:15Speaker 3: love him. He's amazing.
- 13:17Speaker 2: You.
- 13:18Speaker 3: Oh, oh my god, you gotta have someone from corn
- 13:21Speaker 3: in there, like make get it a bit sludgy, Like
- 13:23Speaker 3: that would be so much fun. I'm gonna shout out
- 13:26Speaker 3: North Lane, like I think that every single member of
- 13:29Speaker 3: North Lane. Like I'm a bit biased because obviously we
- 13:32Speaker 3: work so closely with Josh, but they are all so
- 13:35Speaker 3: talented and so deserving of the success that they're getting.
- 13:38Speaker 3: Where are we at? One? Two three? Can I okay? Okay, okay,
- 13:43Speaker 3: Well let's let's throw a little bit of a wild
- 13:45Speaker 3: card into the mix. Maybe like someone from like Killing
- 13:48Speaker 3: Heidi could be cool in there, you know, like I
- 13:50Speaker 3: just like that bit of an old school vibe as well,
- 13:52Speaker 3: could be I mean, I'm just wanting to have bowling
- 13:55Speaker 3: for soup in there for the laughs, Like, I just
- 13:57Speaker 3: think that would be so funny. But can Relica be
- 13:59Speaker 3: a part of this too? Oh yes, brilliant. I'm so happy.
- 14:12Speaker 1: Next year.
- 14:13Speaker 3: Oh my god. Oh I was just about to say
- 14:16Speaker 3: void of Vision, but unfortunately they're calling it a day. Yeah, no,
- 14:21Speaker 3: they're here. Yeah, they were fresh in my mind. You
- 14:24Speaker 3: know what I would love to see make them suffer
- 14:26Speaker 3: on there. I was sort of yeah, yeah, no, they
- 14:32Speaker 3: are absolutely destroying the game. I'm so so happy with
- 14:35Speaker 3: their success. Yeah, make them suffer. I think that they've
- 14:39Speaker 3: already they've played a couple of times, but I always
- 14:42Speaker 3: enjoy a Red Hook set. They always they She's just
- 14:47Speaker 3: the most wonderful person, and like they just put on
- 14:50Speaker 3: a killer show every single time. So much fun for
- 14:52Speaker 3: a festival as well. And oh it's great, it's amazing thing.
- 15:00Speaker 3: I love it, Oh my gosh.
- 15:02Speaker 2: And then.
- 15:04Speaker 3: Hmm, see, I can think of a couple of non
- 15:07Speaker 3: Aussie bands that I want to see on here. I know,
- 15:10Speaker 3: I know, like I'm seeing all of them amazing as
- 15:13Speaker 3: bands today. But a band that I wanted to see
- 15:16Speaker 3: on this Good Things lineup, which I was kind of
- 15:18Speaker 3: gunning for, but they weren't. So I think next year Turnstile.
- 15:22Speaker 3: I think Turnstile are well due back in Australia and
- 15:25Speaker 3: I think that they are the perfect fit for this
- 15:27Speaker 3: sort of variety lineup. They just have that festival vibe
- 15:30Speaker 3: going on and I just love Turnstile. Oh miss you guys,
- 15:39Speaker 3: Thank you, pleasures, Aline, thank you so much. Sorry, I'm sweaty. Sorry,
- 15:47Speaker 3: Oh of course absolutely I can. Okay, Oh my god,
- 16:05Speaker 3: that was.
- 16:05Speaker 2: A crack, I swear to God away professionals.
- 16:08Speaker 3: I am sorry. Sorry about in the correction, I felt
- 16:10Speaker 3: so loud.
- 16:12Speaker 1: I was gonna.
- 16:14Speaker 2: You're waiting, ye shot sho. Okay, we'll be down there's
- 16:21Speaker 2: razing like.
- 16:23Speaker 1: We'll be there at six forty
- 16:25Speaker 3: To see you guys there
