- 0:01Speaker 1: It's a podcast. Come twenty five wists tucking basketball and
- 0:08Speaker 1: they were a whistle So yeahs supid, But what did'd
- 0:12Speaker 1: you expect? It's a podcast. Come twenty five whistles, twenty wine.
- 0:19Speaker 1: We've called this special edition of twenty five Whistles because
- 0:22Speaker 1: the Celtics lost last night.
- 0:24Speaker 2: That's that's why I feel like you wanted to do
- 0:26Speaker 2: this honestly, well, only because you said you weren't worried.
- 0:29Speaker 1: That's the only reason I knew.
- 0:31Speaker 2: I was watching that game. I was like, dang it,
- 0:33Speaker 2: You're like.
- 0:33Speaker 1: I ain't worried. I ain't worried. So this will not
- 0:36Speaker 1: be a long episode, but welcome follow us at twenty
- 0:40Speaker 1: five whistles. Let's start with that game. And b was
- 0:43Speaker 1: out for the whole game. I didn't watch it because
- 0:45Speaker 1: I did not think it was going to be a
- 0:46Speaker 1: game either, But I just would never when my team's
- 0:48Speaker 1: playing God is nothing, Never would I do that. But
- 0:52Speaker 1: George the whole thing. Yes, Okay, beginning then and Ba's out,
- 0:57Speaker 1: Harden went off, scored forty five, a playoff high for him.
- 1:00Speaker 1: I did see the last second shot. I went back
- 1:02Speaker 1: and watched some clips, but I just I guess I
- 1:05Speaker 1: learned of their lost Celtics because they kept showing the
- 1:08Speaker 1: Harden clip on every social media account that I follow.
- 1:11Speaker 1: They were like twelve seconds left to be fair. When
- 1:13Speaker 1: he nailed it, he was up down one right, yeah,
- 1:16Speaker 1: step back, boom deep one. So I guess the Celtics
- 1:19Speaker 1: had a chance at the end.
- 1:20Speaker 2: Yeah, and they blew it.
- 1:21Speaker 1: So tell me about that, because that wasn't showed in
- 1:23Speaker 1: the clip. It was just hardeness there.
- 1:24Speaker 2: Yeah, so they still had eight seconds ago they inbound
- 1:26Speaker 2: on the ball. Marcus Smart got it, he drove, went
- 1:29Speaker 2: down the middle, Tatum was right there ready for the rebounds,
- 1:31Speaker 2: and then he tried to hand it off to Tatum.
- 1:33Speaker 1: It was just I didn't know that's what that was.
- 1:35Speaker 1: That's all that played. Yeah.
- 1:36Speaker 2: Their whole sequence in the last three minutes was got awful.
- 1:39Speaker 1: Hard and had thirty nine minutes forty five points, seventeen
- 1:42Speaker 1: of thirty from the field. Jeez. Then he shot over
- 1:46Speaker 1: fifty percent and he did shoot fifty percent from three
- 1:49Speaker 1: point line, had six assists too. Even with forty five points,
- 1:52Speaker 1: Harden went off and then I saw after the game
- 1:54Speaker 1: everybody was celebrating and Hard's like ah and go locker
- 1:58Speaker 1: room we don't celebrate after that's one game and I
- 2:00Speaker 1: was like, who is this James Harden?
- 2:02Speaker 2: I know he was in Vegas over the weekend. Two
- 2:05Speaker 2: and then he comes back and does.
- 2:06Speaker 1: That Tyers Maxie had twenty six points, Melton had seventeen
- 2:08Speaker 1: to help Harden. Uh Key plays down the stretch, Hardens
- 2:12Speaker 1: deep through with eight seconds left, Max's and one layup
- 2:16Speaker 1: with a minute and a half left. Do you recall
- 2:18Speaker 1: that one?
- 2:19Speaker 2: Yeah, it was called one ref called it a charge,
- 2:21Speaker 2: one called it a block. That went reviewed it and
- 2:23Speaker 2: it ended up being a block.
- 2:24Speaker 1: I saw the Brody turnover two.
- 2:25Speaker 2: Oh that was the dagger Well, I mean obviously the
- 2:28Speaker 2: hard and three, but that was just like, what are
- 2:30Speaker 2: we doing?
- 2:31Speaker 1: Yeah, because seat clock was down, they'd moved they'd moved
- 2:34Speaker 1: it a little bit, and he just kind of like,
- 2:36Speaker 1: I don't know, it looked like a weird, weird pass
- 2:38Speaker 1: and went over Tatum's head. Right.
- 2:40Speaker 2: It wasn't even I think he thought Tatum was still there. Yeah,
- 2:43Speaker 2: he just threw it back there blindly, and Tatum would
- 2:46Speaker 2: hadn't moved at that point.
- 2:47Speaker 1: The seventy six ers one on a ten to four run.
- 2:49Speaker 1: The last two forty four of the game. You could
- 2:50Speaker 1: tell I didn't watch it, and I watched it all
- 2:51Speaker 1: on clips because all mine's out of order in my head.
- 2:54Speaker 1: But I couldn't believe it, and I was like, we
- 2:55Speaker 1: got to get on and talk about this. Yeah, Kevin
- 2:57Speaker 1: feels after oh one, after we lost, I was like, no, indeed,
- 3:00Speaker 1: it's a good thing. We're not doing a pod. Well,
- 3:04Speaker 1: are you sad after that? Or yeah, that's only one game?
- 3:07Speaker 2: No, for sure, I'm sad because you have to have
- 3:09Speaker 2: that game with them beat out and the way that
- 3:11Speaker 2: they played down the stretch Missoula. I talked about this
- 3:13Speaker 2: a little last week. He scares me, the way that
- 3:15Speaker 2: he draws some stuff up, especially in crunch time and doctors.
- 3:19Speaker 2: Rivers isn't even that great a coach, but he out
- 3:21Speaker 2: coaching big time.
- 3:21Speaker 1: That was in Boston, right, So that sucks too because
- 3:24Speaker 1: you've now lost home court advantage. Not that it always
- 3:28Speaker 1: goes at but as of right now, they've lost home
- 3:30Speaker 1: court advantage. Yeah. So they play another one in Boston. Yeah,
- 3:34Speaker 1: and then they go to Philly? Is that right? Is
- 3:35Speaker 1: that the order? It was?
- 3:36Speaker 2: Sad?
- 3:36Speaker 1: It was said the Nuggets beat Sons, Chris Paul got hurt.
- 3:42Speaker 1: I saw him. Chris Paul always been turning the playoffs
- 3:45Speaker 1: like that's what he's known for. Yeah, two things, One
- 3:48Speaker 1: not winning a champion, maybe the best player to not
- 3:49Speaker 1: win a championship, and then two always getting hurt in
- 3:52Speaker 1: the playoffs and also being age fifty three, that too, Yeah,
- 3:55Speaker 1: but still legit as a point guard. But you Algays
- 3:59Speaker 1: put up thirty nine points, had sixteen rebounds, played forty
- 4:01Speaker 1: one minutes. Nuggets up two to oh over the Suns.
- 4:04Speaker 1: It's going to be tough now for the Suns. I
- 4:06Speaker 1: don't know if Paul is coming back for Game three
- 4:08Speaker 1: or not, but they don't have a point guard. Katie
- 4:10Speaker 1: played forty four minutes, score twenty four points, grab eight rebounds,
- 4:13Speaker 1: but again that number is forty four minutes. Booker played
- 4:15Speaker 1: forty five minutes. Chris Paul left the game in the third,
- 4:17Speaker 1: but left growing tightness. The Nuggets also shot sixteen more
- 4:20Speaker 1: free throws in the Suns and outscored them the paint
- 4:22Speaker 1: by eighteen. The Suns kept a close all game, but
- 4:24Speaker 1: Denver pulled away in the fourth. Game three Friday in Phoenix. Wow,
- 4:28Speaker 1: they have a bit of time here, m HM Tuesday
- 4:31Speaker 1: with they have three days off that.
- 4:32Speaker 2: Helps Chris right, maybe, yeah, I would think.
- 4:36Speaker 1: It until he finds his next injury, until he gets
- 4:38Speaker 1: hurt again. Ohio has halted betting on Alabama baseball after
- 4:41Speaker 1: suspicious activity. Ohio gambling regulators on Monday instructed the state's
- 4:46Speaker 1: licensed sportsbooks to betting on college baseball games involving Alabama
- 4:50Speaker 1: after suspicious wagering activity was detected on the Crimson Tides
- 4:53Speaker 1: game against top ranked LSU on Friday, Ohio Casino Control
- 4:58Speaker 1: Commission Executive Matthew Schuler issued a statement that said he
- 5:02Speaker 1: prohibits the acceptance of any wagers on University Avelopment baseball,
- 5:04Speaker 1: effective immediately. Now, this is a state by state thing
- 5:06Speaker 1: though right like, there's not a all states that allow
- 5:10Speaker 1: gambling have to stop. It's state by state, which is
- 5:13Speaker 1: why it's not federal because federally it isn't legal to
- 5:17Speaker 1: gamble because there are a lot of states that still
- 5:19Speaker 1: don't have legalized sports gambling. So there was a report
- 5:24Speaker 1: from an independent monitor. On Friday, a Las Vegas based
- 5:28Speaker 1: firm that monitors the betting markets issued an alert to
- 5:30Speaker 1: its sportsbook clients regarding suspicious wagering activity involving the Alabama
- 5:35Speaker 1: LSU game. There is no national gaming regulator. LSU led
- 5:39Speaker 1: Alabama eight to one after seven innings and held off
- 5:42Speaker 1: a late rally with the Crimson Tide for an eight
- 5:43Speaker 1: six victory. I wonder what the bet was though Alabama
- 5:47Speaker 1: plays Vanderbilt on Thursday. Was. I don't know what the
- 5:50Speaker 1: spread was. I don't know what the run I mean
- 5:51Speaker 1: runs they were given. I'm assuming LSU was a favorite here.
- 5:56Speaker 1: I just wish it would also tell us what the
- 5:58Speaker 1: bet was, not just as they shut it and I'm like,
- 6:00Speaker 1: why what? How much teasing us? Like what was the bet?
- 6:04Speaker 1: Did it work? And how much did they bet? I
- 6:07Speaker 1: didn't know all that. Like I'm not big gossip guy,
- 6:09Speaker 1: but that's kind of gossip. I want right there. I
- 6:11Speaker 1: want to know how much the bet was, because it
- 6:13Speaker 1: had to be one hundred thousand dollars.
- 6:18Speaker 2: Yeah, enough to wave a red flag for sure. Yeah,
- 6:21Speaker 2: it's got to be a lot and something odd.
- 6:24Speaker 1: Because otherwise, if you're just betting the line and you
- 6:27Speaker 1: bet one hundred thousand bucks, that ain't gonna do anything
- 6:29Speaker 1: except somebody's gonna go, oh, that's a rich person betting. Now.
- 6:33Speaker 1: I'm think it's gonna be like half million dollars. What
- 6:36Speaker 1: were they betting? That would be so coold to know?
- 6:38Speaker 1: So that's what's up. But mostly just wanted to come
- 6:41Speaker 1: on and talk about Celtics. I figured there's a couple
- 6:44Speaker 1: of games tonight.
- 6:45Speaker 2: Huh yeah, Heat Nicks, Lakers Warriors.
- 6:48Speaker 1: Man that Lakers Warriors series is that's super cool. But
- 6:50Speaker 1: again it's like I use this analogy a lot, Iron
- 6:54Speaker 1: Man versus Captain America, where I like both of them,
- 6:57Speaker 1: and whomever wins that I don't know though, because if
- 7:00Speaker 1: Denver wins the series, Denver, nobody's believed in them all year.
- 7:05Speaker 1: They quietly have just simply won Denver or the Lakers
- 7:10Speaker 1: Denver for the Suns, And I'm talking about the whole thing, Okay,
- 7:14Speaker 1: Like if Denver beats the Suns, which I expect them
- 7:16Speaker 1: to do now because they're up to to oh not
- 7:18Speaker 1: because I think I still think the Suns could win it,
- 7:20Speaker 1: I'm not even declaring, but I said yesterday if they
- 7:23Speaker 1: go down to it's gonna be real hard, especially with
- 7:25Speaker 1: Chris Paul Hurt all the minutes that Booker, I mean,
- 7:27Speaker 1: Booker's gonna have to play point guard some or at
- 7:29Speaker 1: least bring it down and play point Yeah, he's just
- 7:31Speaker 1: what he's gonna have to do, run the offense. So
- 7:35Speaker 1: but if it's Denver versus LA or Golden State, same thing.
- 7:39Speaker 1: It's like, whomever wins that one you want to unless
- 7:41Speaker 1: you're a Celtics fan, I'd like to see whomever from
- 7:43Speaker 1: the West win it. I think.
- 7:45Speaker 2: I mean, Denver looks the best.
- 7:47Speaker 1: If Golden State wins it again, that's awesome, Steph gets
- 7:49Speaker 1: another ring. If a Lakers win it, that's awesome because
- 7:52Speaker 1: I thought the Lakers could do it. If Denver wins it,
- 7:54Speaker 1: I love it because it's a team that hasn't been
- 7:56Speaker 1: in the mix, smallish market when it comes to the NBA,
- 8:03Speaker 1: and they deserved it. They had a wonderful season over
- 8:05Speaker 1: on the East. The Celtics obviously they didn't win it
- 8:08Speaker 1: last year, but they made it to the finals. A
- 8:11Speaker 1: bit unexpected for them to make it that far. The Sixers.
- 8:16Speaker 1: That's an interesting dynamic because it's Harden. I mean, he
- 8:21Speaker 1: hasn't won a title, embeied. He doesn't want a title,
- 8:26Speaker 1: just the process. Yeah, been along process. Yeah. So from
- 8:30Speaker 1: the East, there's that Both of those teams you have
- 8:33Speaker 1: there's a reason to root for them. There's Miami who
- 8:37Speaker 1: came out of the playing game. There are just so
- 8:39Speaker 1: many good guys. There aren't enough bad guys. Can we
- 8:41Speaker 1: put Dylan Brooks on one of these teams? I don't
- 8:43Speaker 1: even care which one. Just take Dylan Brooks and put
- 8:46Speaker 1: them on the team. So we have to make a
- 8:47Speaker 1: root against he's a free agent. And even the Knicks,
- 8:50Speaker 1: they've been so bad for so long. If they win
- 8:53Speaker 1: that series with Brunson, who in Dallas was a distant
- 8:59Speaker 1: number two, they don't want to pay him. So he
- 9:01Speaker 1: goes to New York and is, you know, top ten
- 9:05Speaker 1: player in the league this year. All these teams are
- 9:08Speaker 1: good guys. The only bad guy team would be the Suns,
- 9:10Speaker 1: I guess, but I like Kde But we're trying to
- 9:13Speaker 1: force a villain here. If Jannis was still in and
- 9:18Speaker 1: the Bucks, they'd be the bad guy, even though Joannis
- 9:20Speaker 1: is very likable because Jannis is the best player in
- 9:23Speaker 1: the league. And the Bucks have won one and they
- 9:24Speaker 1: were the one seed.
- 9:27Speaker 2: Yeah they were the top dog.
- 9:29Speaker 1: But there's no villain. And the one seed over in
- 9:32Speaker 1: the West is Denver and that's super cool because Denver
- 9:36Speaker 1: never wins. Crap, It's awesome.
- 9:39Speaker 2: Yeah, it's gotta be Lebron too, though at the same time, because.
- 9:42Speaker 1: You really like le Lebron in a villain and the
- 9:44Speaker 1: Lakers have sucked all year. Lebron ain't a villain. Yeah,
- 9:47Speaker 1: maybe you're right. Some people do see the Lakers, but
- 9:49Speaker 1: the Lakers have never been a threat. They can't be
- 9:51Speaker 1: the villain team. Do you feel like the villain team?
- 9:54Speaker 2: No, I still don't. I wouldn't be confident in them. Yeah, exactly,
- 9:57Speaker 2: But it's still Lebron and you're still watching to see
- 9:59Speaker 2: him either win or lose.
- 10:00Speaker 1: That's greatness. We rarely get to see pure greatness.
- 10:04Speaker 2: We'll see it with Stephane.
- 10:05Speaker 1: Yeah, that's true, both of them. Yeah. Anyway, this is
- 10:08Speaker 1: your basketball audition. This is not a long show, and
- 10:11Speaker 1: that's how we'll do this thing for now. One for
- 10:13Speaker 1: the most part, unless we get a good interview, is
- 10:14Speaker 1: that if there's something that happens we would want to
- 10:16Speaker 1: talk about it, maybe only fifteen minutes. How long is it, Mike?
- 10:18Speaker 1: This is ten minutes. There we go. It's ten minutes
- 10:21Speaker 1: of pure goodness right here. NBA playoff basketball and Alabama betting.
- 10:25Speaker 1: If anybody knows what happened there, message me. I would
- 10:28Speaker 1: love to know that. Have you ever been to the
- 10:30Speaker 1: College World Series? No, baseball, No, it's pretty awesome. It's
- 10:33Speaker 1: always in Omaha.
- 10:34Speaker 2: Yeah, that would be a lot of fun.
- 10:36Speaker 1: I've been a couple of times. Yeah, pretty cool. And
- 10:39Speaker 1: Omaha is like they're perfect for it because they're ready
- 10:42Speaker 1: for it. They know what's about to hit them. They
- 10:45Speaker 1: thrive in it. It is theirs. They embrace it. It's awesome.
- 10:49Speaker 2: That would be a lot of fun.
- 10:49Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a lot of fun. All Right, that's what's up.
- 10:52Speaker 1: We're good. We're good.
- 10:54Speaker 2: Yeah, that's it.
- 10:55Speaker 1: But yes, may blow the whistle ten minutes go. I
- 10:59Speaker 1: want to thought. Oh, I want the Lakers to win,
- 11:01Speaker 1: but if they don't, I'm okay with that. And then
- 11:04Speaker 1: if it's Golden State versus Denver, I want Golden State
- 11:07Speaker 1: to win, but if they don't, I'm okay with that.
- 11:08Speaker 2: Yeah, that would be a fun one.
- 11:09Speaker 1: And then if it's Denver versus whomever, I want Denver
- 11:13Speaker 1: to win.
- 11:15Speaker 2: Do you want other than the Lakers in the West,
- 11:17Speaker 2: then you want Denver.
- 11:19Speaker 1: That's an interesting question. I'd probably go Lakers Warriors, Oh, Denver, Miami.
- 11:35Speaker 1: This is a want. This is not my favorite team,
- 11:38Speaker 1: but who I'd want to see because that would be
- 11:39Speaker 1: an awesome A playing team wins at all, that then
- 11:41Speaker 1: makes those games that much more important because Eybod looks
- 11:43Speaker 1: at the playing games now like it's a bull crap.
- 11:45Speaker 1: Who cares? They sucked all year and now they're gonnaet
- 11:47Speaker 1: the plaofs. They're going to lose a draft position. But
- 11:51Speaker 1: if Miami can do it, or even if they just
- 11:55Speaker 1: win the series against the Knicks, like that is a
- 11:56Speaker 1: big step for that playing game. So I think for
- 11:59Speaker 1: that reason, I like that story that's probably four sons
- 12:07Speaker 1: five because I think if Durank can win one without Steph,
- 12:14Speaker 1: how many of the Durant one were they all with Steph?
- 12:16Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 12:16Speaker 1: Yeah, right three Steph's won a couple with that Durant two. Yeah,
- 12:20Speaker 1: because Steph has four Yeah, then I would go the
- 12:23Speaker 1: Sons at five, Miami at four, Sons at five, Knicks
- 12:33Speaker 1: at six. Dang, this is an anti Celtics podcast. Celtics
- 12:37Speaker 1: at seven, Okay, here we go, and I'm gonna go
- 12:43Speaker 1: with Philly at eight.
- 12:44Speaker 2: I like it.
- 12:45Speaker 1: That's my root and it's nothing. It's the Celtics. I
- 12:47Speaker 1: think Tatum's awesome. Yeah. I actually like a lot of
- 12:51Speaker 1: Celtics players, and I even like their coaching staff. I
- 12:56Speaker 1: like the new guy who kind of gets thrust in
- 12:58Speaker 1: there because you know, you know email. I like that.
- 13:03Speaker 1: I like that I'm rooting for him. I like the man,
- 13:05Speaker 1: I like the executives there. So that's what's up. All right,
- 13:09Speaker 1: we're done, here's the whistle. We're out. We'll see you guys.
- 13:12Speaker 1: I don't know, we'll see when we see if I already.
- 13:14Speaker 1: Theme song written by Bobby Bones and performed by Brandon Ray.
