Rabies cases are spreading in Maryland’s Charles County — two new victims: a skunk in Port Tobacco and a bat in Waldorf. This follows earlier attacks by rabid beavers, including one near Montgomery County where a woman was bitten. Health officials warn against contact with any unfamiliar wildlife, as rabies can spread through saliva and even infect pets. Authorities are still investigating how widespread the outbreak may be, with both animals testing positive around August 21.
