- 3:38Speaker 4: in it. Huh. We don't even know who she was.
- 3:41Speaker 4: There was nothing on her to identify her. Well, I
- 3:43Speaker 4: let the newspaper photographers take her picture. Edition should be
- 3:45Speaker 4: on the streets by now, have you seen them now?
- 3:47Speaker 4: Patsy's not getting the papers now, uh huh. Well, somebody
- 3:50Speaker 4: may be able to identify her. I'll let you know
- 3:52Speaker 4: if anything develops. Okay, Maddie, thanks for calling. Man.
- 3:57Speaker 5: Her picture's on the front page of all the papers. Nick,
- 3:59Speaker 5: let me see what the sergeant have to say, just.
- 4:01Speaker 4: That our nameless blonde was poisoned.
- 4:03Speaker 5: Poison.
- 4:04Speaker 4: Yeah, she was fed arsenic three hours before she died.
- 4:07Speaker 3: Nick.
- 4:07Speaker 5: I thought arsenic resulted in violent death, but she looked
- 4:11Speaker 5: more than she suffered a heart attack.
- 4:12Speaker 4: Or sometimes it access way.
- 4:14Speaker 5: Then she just came in here and toppled over without
- 4:17Speaker 5: uttering a sound.
- 4:19Speaker 4: That's why you didn't hear it.
- 4:20Speaker 5: Oh, and I guess they'll straightened up this office. The
- 4:24Speaker 5: sergeant's men certainly made a mess of your desk. You'd
- 4:26Speaker 5: think they'd Nick, h what is it? These aren't your keys?
- 4:32Speaker 5: Are they?
- 4:33Speaker 4: Let me see? I know I never saw them before.
- 4:36Speaker 5: And they must belong to that woman. She was sitting
- 4:38Speaker 5: here before she died.
- 4:39Speaker 4: And oh look here, Oh what is it? Has a
- 4:43Speaker 4: name printed here on the case. The keys are in.
- 4:45Speaker 4: Oh it's almost worn off.
- 4:47Speaker 5: But don't you make it up?
- 4:48Speaker 4: Nick just simeon Grander?
- 4:52Speaker 5: Grander? Yeah, well that's an odd name, is that all
- 4:56Speaker 5: it says?

- 5:12Speaker 5: Oh then we oh, I'll get it.
- 5:14Speaker 4: Okay, Nick Carter speaking Nick, This is Maddy again. Yeah,
- 5:18Speaker 4: we got a nibble on that picture in the paper.
- 5:20Speaker 4: You mean somebody identified her? No, but a cab driver
- 5:22Speaker 4: just came into my office, he says he recognizes her.
- 5:25Speaker 4: Is a fair he picked up downtown yesterday. Good. He
- 5:27Speaker 4: took her out on Lafayette Road. Laffayette Road, Yeah, that's
- 5:30Speaker 4: a pretty swank neighborhood. Yeah, I'll say how the street
- 5:34Speaker 4: number was seventeen twenty seventeen twenty. Yeah, I'm on my

- 6:00Speaker 5: See, the house is completely dark.
- 6:02Speaker 4: Don't look like anyone's whom not the friendliest place I've
- 6:05Speaker 4: ever seen. Bring the belt on your money, right, there.
- 6:11Speaker 7: Is no use trying to get in right where you are.
- 6:16Speaker 7: Don't try anything because I have a gun.
- 6:19Speaker 4: Hell, look, who are you? Who are you? And what
- 6:22Speaker 4: are you doing?
- 6:22Speaker 7: Trespassing on private property?
- 6:24Speaker 4: Will you happen to be the police?
- 6:26Speaker 6: Mister the police?
- 6:27Speaker 4: Yeah? Yeah, Now who are you?
- 6:29Speaker 6: I am the care taker.
- 6:31Speaker 3: My name is Weba.
- 6:32Speaker 4: Nobody home here?
- 6:33Speaker 7: No, there's no one living in the house now, hasn't
- 6:37Speaker 7: been since the funeral?
- 6:38Speaker 4: Funeral? Whose funeral?
- 6:39Speaker 7: Mister Stokes? He died just last week? He lived here alone?
- 6:44Speaker 5: Do you mean Mordern Stokes of Stokes in Winick at
- 6:46Speaker 5: the big real estate company.
- 6:47Speaker 6: Let's right?
- 6:48Speaker 4: Are you here all day yesterday? Webber? Sure, I'm here
- 6:52Speaker 4: all the time day and nine? Maybe you can tell
- 6:55Speaker 4: us the name of the visitor you had yesterday.
- 6:57Speaker 6: Visitor.
- 6:58Speaker 7: Yes, I I did not have any visitors yesterday.
- 7:02Speaker 4: We know a woman came to this house in a
- 7:03Speaker 4: taxi cab late last evening. Now who was it?
- 7:05Speaker 6: Yeah? Crazy, No woman came here.
- 7:07Speaker 4: The cab driver says. He led her around here and
- 7:09Speaker 4: she walked up the steps before he drove off. That
- 7:12Speaker 4: is not so. Who's Simon Canander?
- 7:15Speaker 7: Simon Cananda? I have never heard of anyone by that name.
- 7:19Speaker 4: All right, you have the authority let us in this house.
- 7:23Speaker 6: No, I cannot do that.
- 7:25Speaker 7: You would have to see mister Stokes partner, mister Whittaker.
- 7:28Speaker 7: He is the only one who could let you in. Why,
- 7:30Speaker 7: mister Whittaker, because he is in charge of this property.
- 7:34Speaker 4: Now okay, yes, that means we drop in on mister Whittaker.
- 7:37Speaker 4: Well you go ahead, Nick, I gotta get back the headquarters.
- 7:40Speaker 4: See you later than marry. Okay, come on passing of course,
- 7:53Speaker 4: mister Carter. You can get into the Stokes so many
- 7:55Speaker 4: time you want. Thanks mister Whittaker. However, I doubt that
- 7:58Speaker 4: it will throw any light on this mysterious woman you've
- 8:01Speaker 4: been telling me aboun.
- 8:01Speaker 5: Well, why do you say that, mister Whittaker.
- 8:03Speaker 4: Because miss Boonene, it's hard for me to believe that
- 8:05Speaker 4: Marvin Stokes had any dealings with a woman. Oh, he
- 8:08Speaker 4: and I were partners for twenty years, mister Carter, and
- 8:11Speaker 4: in all that time he had no interest in women
- 8:13Speaker 4: at all. In fact, he was woman shy was an
- 8:16Speaker 4: obsession with him.
- 8:17Speaker 5: But this gets screwlier and screwier.
- 8:19Speaker 4: Nick.
- 8:20Speaker 5: The only thing we're sure of about that woman is
- 8:22Speaker 5: that she went to Stokes's house, and now we find
- 8:24Speaker 5: that she had no reason to go there, and that
- 8:26Speaker 5: nobody saw when.
- 8:27Speaker 4: She got there rather away, mister Whittaker, does the name
- 8:29Speaker 4: of Gernander meant anything to you, Simon Bernander? No, No,
- 8:33Speaker 4: I've never heard the name before the best of my records.
- 8:36Speaker 4: Excuse me. Hello, there's this Sergeant Mathison, the homicide snack
- 8:40Speaker 4: Carter there, Yes, that's the moment with thanks Hello, Nick, Maddy,
- 8:46Speaker 4: we're got another bike on that newspaper picture. H A
- 8:49Speaker 4: guy named McIntire just called to say he thinks he
- 8:51Speaker 4: can identify the name. Say his name's McIntire, Captain Ernest
- 8:54Speaker 4: McIntyre meeting him at the Morgan twenty minutes. Okay, Maddie,
- 8:58Speaker 4: we'll get over there right away. Oh, what the devil's
- 9:12Speaker 4: keeping that guy? He's fifteen minutes late already.
- 9:15Speaker 5: Taking easy, Sergeant, he'll be here.
- 9:18Speaker 4: You have any idea who this Captain McIntyre? Oh he
- 9:20Speaker 4: just said he was a retired sea captain. I asked him.
- 9:24Speaker 4: What's we spoke? Folks were shots and they're right outside.
- 9:26Speaker 5: Yeah, come on right.
- 9:29Speaker 7: Now.
- 9:29Speaker 4: Look a man line Day has been shot. Yeah.
- 9:31Speaker 6: Killer must be in a car that just pulled.
- 9:33Speaker 4: Away, Nicky. The only way I could get out of
- 9:35Speaker 4: here so fast. Well, we're we're blessed. This guy did
- 9:39Speaker 4: a good job.
- 9:40Speaker 6: He's dead.
- 9:41Speaker 5: Nick, Do you think this is Captain McIntyre?
- 9:43Speaker 4: Wait? Do I see whether there's any identification on him? Yeah? Hey,
- 9:47Speaker 4: what's that, Nick, Bailford?
- 9:49Speaker 5: Find anything you know?
- 9:51Speaker 4: Yeah, he's Captain McIntyre. All right, Well, how do you
- 9:55Speaker 4: like that for a lousy break? Well, now we know
- 9:58Speaker 4: somebody determined to keep us from identifying that woman, so determined,
- 10:01Speaker 4: in fact, they'll even commit murder to do it, and
- 10:09Speaker 4: soul once again, Nick is frustrated and his desire to
- 10:12Speaker 4: learn the identity of the nameless blonde. We'll see what
- 10:15Speaker 4: happens next in just a minute. And now back to
- 10:23Speaker 4: the Case of the Nameless Blonde. The day's adventure with Nick.
- 10:26Speaker 3: Carter brought to you by new postwar old Dutch cleanser.
- 10:30Speaker 3: As we pick up our story, two hours have passed
- 10:33Speaker 3: since the death of Captain McIntyre, the man who promised
- 10:36Speaker 3: to identify the mysterious woman Nick found murdered in his office. Now,
- 10:41Speaker 3: in the bright moonlight, Nick, Patsy and Sergeant Madison approach
- 10:43Speaker 3: a small waterfront shatty.
- 10:47Speaker 4: The next shack down the beach would be the one
- 10:48Speaker 4: where McIntyre lived. If what do you expect to find
- 10:51Speaker 4: in the capital, Sherry, Nick, that's just a chance married
- 10:53Speaker 4: that McIntire had something in his possession that'll tell us
- 10:56Speaker 4: what he himself would have told us if he'd lived,
- 10:58Speaker 4: Like what the.
- 10:58Speaker 5: Dead woman's name was? I'm the poisoner.
- 11:00Speaker 4: Yeah, the key to a death must be your name. Otherwise,
- 11:04Speaker 4: why would somebody be sadan anxious to keep it from
- 11:06Speaker 4: learning what it was? Well, that makes sense, but oh, oh,
- 11:09Speaker 4: that's my entire shack over there. There's somebody in it.
- 11:12Speaker 5: Like, yes, the lights are on, it looks as though
- 11:14Speaker 5: somebody's moving around inside.
- 11:16Speaker 4: Come on, we gotta hurry.
- 11:17Speaker 5: Yeah, hey, the lights went out.
- 11:20Speaker 4: Better watch it. It make swell targets in this moonlight.
- 11:24Speaker 4: Get down, Patsy, put this hand. Whoever's in that shack
- 11:26Speaker 4: spotted us and doesn't want us to spot him.
- 11:28Speaker 6: Eh, he's staying in the shadows.
- 11:30Speaker 4: Nick must have gone running behind the shack. I'm going
- 11:33Speaker 4: the hold him. Many what, I have a feeling those
- 11:35Speaker 4: shots were meant to cover a getaway. There's no use
- 11:37Speaker 4: trying to catch him now.
- 11:38Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, I guess you're right.
- 11:40Speaker 4: Nick.
- 11:40Speaker 5: Well, I hope we're gonna take a look in that.
- 11:42Speaker 4: Check you bet we are. Watch your step, Patsy. I'm okay, okay,
- 11:51Speaker 4: care for now, Go and open the door. Keep your
- 11:53Speaker 4: gun ready. Many, Uh, don't worry, it's open.
- 11:58Speaker 5: Oh gee, it's dark and here, can you find a light?
- 12:01Speaker 4: Maybe there's a sweach by the dark. Yeah, here we are.
- 12:06Speaker 5: Oh boy, I look at this place.
- 12:08Speaker 4: Looks like a cyclone hit it. I expected something like this. Yeah.
- 12:13Speaker 4: If we're right in thinking that McIntyre was killed to
- 12:16Speaker 4: stop him from telling us who the woman was, then
- 12:18Speaker 4: the murderer was pretty sure to have the same idea
- 12:21Speaker 4: we have.
- 12:21Speaker 5: Certainly he's come here to look for evidence that might
- 12:24Speaker 5: help us to identify her, and it was probably the.
- 12:26Speaker 6: Murderer who took that pot shot at us.
- 12:30Speaker 5: Yeah, there's someone on the porch.
- 12:34Speaker 4: Okay, you guys, what's going on here? Take it easy, brother,
- 12:38Speaker 4: This thing in my hand ain't no water pistol? WHI
- 12:40Speaker 4: the police?
- 12:41Speaker 6: Police?
- 12:42Speaker 4: Huh?
- 12:42Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 12:43Speaker 4: Oh?
- 12:43Speaker 6: What's the idea of turner? Join a part?
- 12:45Speaker 4: What's that to you?
- 12:46Speaker 6: It so happens. I bunk here, Copper.
- 12:49Speaker 4: Thought this was Captain McIntyre Shack.
- 12:51Speaker 6: It is him and me. We live here together. I
- 12:54Speaker 6: was Mac's first mate before he quit shipping out.
- 12:57Speaker 4: What's your name?
- 12:58Speaker 6: Gunsare?
- 12:59Speaker 4: Oh uh huh, Well you better start looking for a
- 13:02Speaker 4: new roommate, Gunther. Captain McIntyre's dead. Of course, you wouldn't
- 13:06Speaker 4: know anything about that. No, I wouldn't or about that
- 13:09Speaker 4: woman he was going to identify when he was murdered.
- 13:11Speaker 6: You mean somebody bumped back off?
- 13:14Speaker 4: That's right.
- 13:15Speaker 6: Well I'll be done.
- 13:17Speaker 5: Hey, you don't seem exactly broken up about it?
- 13:20Speaker 4: Where you want me to do?
- 13:21Speaker 6: Sister? Bust out and cry we're all gotta die sometime.
- 13:25Speaker 4: I gun there. You ever hear a man named Simon
- 13:28Speaker 4: Grenander Simon, Well, it looks like he has Nick no, no, no, no,
- 13:36Speaker 4: don't mean nothing to me. What do you do for
- 13:37Speaker 4: a living?
- 13:38Speaker 2: Now?
- 13:38Speaker 6: Gunther me? Who else? I'm working on a private yard.
- 13:42Speaker 6: It's owned by a guy named Whittaker.
- 13:44Speaker 5: Whittaker.
- 13:44Speaker 6: Yeah, what's wrong with that?
- 13:47Speaker 4: Not a thing good?
- 13:49Speaker 6: Anybody got an objections? If I fill my pipe?
- 13:52Speaker 4: Not at all? Go right ahead?
- 13:54Speaker 6: Thank you?
- 13:57Speaker 4: Very expensive humor? Are you keeping tobacco in?
- 14:00Speaker 6: That's mine?
- 14:00Speaker 4: It's smacksy? I see it a minute, Gunter.
- 14:03Speaker 6: I can't stop, you can? I?
- 14:06Speaker 4: Well, no, what is it?
- 14:08Speaker 5: Nick?
- 14:08Speaker 4: It's a very interesting inscription on the lid of this
- 14:10Speaker 4: human dog. Yeah, that wasn't saying. Nick. June nineteen thirty
- 14:13Speaker 4: eight to Captain Ernest McIntyre, with deepest gratitude from Marvin Stokes.
- 14:30Speaker 4: You say we can get in the Stokes house this time? Nick, Yes, Perry,
- 14:34Speaker 4: I called Winnaker's home. His sister Elizabeth said she'd meet
- 14:36Speaker 4: us there and let us in.
- 14:37Speaker 5: Well, why do you think that'll get you?
- 14:39Speaker 3: Nick?
- 14:39Speaker 4: I love Pansy. Two people have been murdered and the
- 14:42Speaker 4: only link between them is that somehow they were connected
- 14:44Speaker 4: with Marvin Stokes. I know one thing. I hope I
- 14:46Speaker 4: can find something in Stoke's personal papers to tell us
- 14:49Speaker 4: what kind of paper Captain McIntyre did form ten years ago. Yeah,
- 14:52Speaker 4: and maybe we can find out why the woman who
- 14:54Speaker 4: died in your office went to his house there, for
- 14:56Speaker 4: he was dead, I hope. So the answers to those
- 14:59Speaker 4: questions would tell not who the woman was and why
- 15:01Speaker 4: she was murdered.
- 15:11Speaker 5: Do you find anything as interesting, mister Stokes corresponding.
- 15:15Speaker 4: No, not yet, my dre. But not even halfway through yet?
- 15:18Speaker 4: Where the starting I have to find? Webber said he
- 15:20Speaker 4: was going to see.
- 15:21Speaker 6: Hey, okay, Webber get in there.
- 15:24Speaker 5: And it sounds is though he found him.
- 15:26Speaker 4: Well, I finally got the truth out of this guy, Nick.
- 15:29Speaker 4: He was lying, all right, he was. Yes, the dame
- 15:32Speaker 4: who died in your office was here in this house. Okay,
- 15:36Speaker 4: who was he? Webber?
- 15:37Speaker 7: I don't know her name.
- 15:39Speaker 6: She did not tell me.
- 15:40Speaker 4: Why did you lie about her being here?
- 15:41Speaker 7: I had orders not to let anybody in. She gave
- 15:45Speaker 7: me twenty dollars to forget them.
- 15:46Speaker 4: And whether you take the bribe, and then we're afraid
- 15:48Speaker 4: to admit it?
- 15:49Speaker 7: Yeah, I was afraid mister Riddeker would fire me.
- 15:53Speaker 5: Snake. Look what I found?
- 15:55Speaker 4: Let's see? Well, well, what is it Dick. Is that
- 16:00Speaker 4: woman in this photograph, Matty, Holy smoke, it's the blonde
- 16:05Speaker 4: that died in your office and listened to what's written
- 16:07Speaker 4: on the bottom Marvin from Marjorie with all my love always? No, No,
- 16:14Speaker 4: what's the matter you know this woman?
- 16:17Speaker 5: No before? Sit down here, Miss Whittaker, Hey.
- 16:24Speaker 4: What's eating hurt? Really? You better tell us the truth?
- 16:26Speaker 4: Miss Whittaker, I.
- 16:27Speaker 5: Don't want to talk about it.
- 16:28Speaker 4: You say you never saw this woman before, and yet
- 16:31Speaker 4: a picture of her almost makes you faint? Why?
- 16:35Speaker 5: Oh, I always sustake that there was another woman. That's
- 16:38Speaker 5: why Marvin wouldn't marry me.
- 16:39Speaker 4: What.
- 16:40Speaker 5: Yes, I love Marvin Stokes. I loved him for you,
- 16:43Speaker 5: but there was something standing between us. No, I know
- 16:47Speaker 5: it was.
- 16:49Speaker 4: And it also gives you a pretty good motor for poisoning,
- 16:52Speaker 4: Miss Whittaker.
- 16:53Speaker 5: Poisoner. Yeah, and if it said I never had.
- 16:55Speaker 4: Eyes on her, how could there be a woman in
- 16:58Speaker 4: stokes life that neither you nor your brother knew wan
- 17:00Speaker 4: thing about?
- 17:01Speaker 5: There's only one answer to that, mister Katta.
- 17:04Speaker 6: He must have met it the year he spent abroad abroad?
- 17:07Speaker 4: What year was that he went to Europe?
- 17:09Speaker 5: In the summer of nineteen thirty eight.
- 17:11Speaker 4: No, this is beginning right up. Hey, Patsy, give me
- 17:14Speaker 4: the Stokes papers for nineteen thirty eight.
- 17:15Speaker 5: Uh huh seven yep, nineteen thirty eight. Thanks, here they are.
- 17:24Speaker 4: Nick, let's see alright, man, yum, Hey, what's this? What'd
- 17:35Speaker 4: you find? Nick? Cablegram center Stokes signed by Alfonse de Grasse,
- 17:40Speaker 4: manager of the Hotel Louis Coutt.
- 17:42Speaker 5: That's the hotel where Marvin always takes when it is
- 17:45Speaker 5: in Paris.
- 17:46Speaker 4: Congratulations. Reservations changed as requested, and it's addressed the Stokes
- 17:50Speaker 4: on the S. S. Simon Grenander. Simon Grenander. Hey, Nick,
- 17:54Speaker 4: that's the name that's on the dead woman's key case.
- 17:57Speaker 5: Well, I'll be done. It's not a man at all
- 17:59Speaker 5: at the ship.
- 18:00Speaker 6: Oh brother, No, this case is more balled up than ever.
- 18:04Speaker 4: Not at all, Maddie, not at all. I'd say it's
- 18:06Speaker 4: beginning to clear up quite nicely. Nick.
- 18:18Speaker 5: If you really know who the murderer is, why the
- 18:20Speaker 5: dickens don't we go get him instead of sitting around
- 18:22Speaker 5: the office waiting.
- 18:23Speaker 4: We're waiting for Maddie to track down the.
- 18:25Speaker 5: Proof, meaning the log of the S. S. Simon Grenander.
- 18:28Speaker 4: Yeah, he's going to call us from the Harbourmaster's office.
- 18:30Speaker 5: What do you expect to find in the log?
- 18:32Speaker 4: All, look, Bessy, we know the ten years ago, in
- 18:34Speaker 4: nineteen thirty eight, a ship's captain named McIntyre performed some
- 18:37Speaker 4: sort of service for Martin Stokes, something that Stokes was
- 18:40Speaker 4: grateful for.
- 18:41Speaker 5: Right, yes, But we.
- 18:42Speaker 4: Also know that Stokes met a woman named Marjorie in
- 18:44Speaker 4: nineteen thirty eight and that she was love with him.
- 18:47Speaker 4: But no on so what remember what the cable Graham said?
- 18:50Speaker 5: Of course congratulations, reservations change is requested?
- 18:53Speaker 4: Right now? Why would a hotel manager cable Stokes's congratulations
- 18:56Speaker 4: and why would Stokes want his reservation change?
- 18:58Speaker 6: Well?
- 18:58Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 18:59Speaker 4: She's think, what's one of the functions of a captain
- 19:02Speaker 4: on a ship at sea.
- 19:03Speaker 5: One of the why he can marry people? And that's
- 19:07Speaker 5: why the congratulations and catching on.
- 19:09Speaker 4: In other words, I believe captain McIntyre married Marvin Stokes
- 19:12Speaker 4: to this Marjorie, whoever she was.
- 19:13Speaker 5: But can you prove it?
- 19:14Speaker 4: I hope I can, and I think the log of
- 19:17Speaker 4: the Simon Bernandro will bear me out if we can
- 19:19Speaker 4: find it.
- 19:21Speaker 5: Marjorie and Stokes must have separated. We know she didn't
- 19:23Speaker 5: come back to.
- 19:24Speaker 4: America with him, badly not. But now after Stokes is dead,
- 19:26Speaker 4: this Marjorie suddenly bobs up. Now, who's the one person
- 19:29Speaker 4: who'd be most anxious to get rid of her?
- 19:31Speaker 5: You tell me of this?
- 19:32Speaker 4: Marjorie could have proved that she was Stokes' legal wife.
- 19:34Speaker 4: She'd have had a claim to was a state. No
- 19:36Speaker 4: matter what kind of a will.
- 19:37Speaker 5: He left, I get it, whoever inherited Stokes's property would
- 19:41Speaker 5: have had to get rid of her or lose his
- 19:42Speaker 5: inheritance right, and Thomas Whittaker was the sole heir to
- 19:46Speaker 5: Stokes as a state.
- 19:47Speaker 4: That's what the will says.
- 19:49Speaker 5: Then then with aka is the murderer? I believe he is, Well,
- 19:53Speaker 5: I'll be done.
- 19:54Speaker 4: Of course, it's still just a theory. There's no record
- 19:57Speaker 4: of the marriage and the log of the SS Bernanda.
- 19:59Speaker 5: Then oh that the target?
- 20:00Speaker 4: Now Nick Carter speaking, it's Maddy Nick, Yes, yes, guerinand
- 20:04Speaker 4: there was jumped a couple of years ago. What don't
- 20:06Speaker 4: tell me the logs lost? Maddy? No, no, no, I
- 20:09Speaker 4: just spoke to the manager of the steamship coming to
- 20:11Speaker 4: own it. He says. All the ship's papers are stored
- 20:13Speaker 4: in the warehouse on Pier thirty two, and he got
- 20:15Speaker 4: the log for us. He says, you'll give me the
- 20:17Speaker 4: key to the warehouse, so I'll pick it up and
- 20:19Speaker 4: meet you there. Huh. Okay, Maddie. Here thirty two fifteen
- 20:22Speaker 4: minutes and the warehouse is down.
- 20:33Speaker 5: This way, Nick boy, this young sog is rolling in.
- 20:36Speaker 5: I can't see a dumb.
- 20:37Speaker 4: Thing hold on of my arm. Hey, you're pretty sure
- 20:40Speaker 4: whitakers are man? Huh? They all adds up that way, Maddie.
- 20:43Speaker 4: Of course I can't sweat to it, but I said
- 20:46Speaker 4: I can against the walk quick? Can you see anim
- 20:48Speaker 4: with Nick? No? Dog's too heavy. He got a gun, Maddie, Yeah,
- 20:53Speaker 4: I got it all, wife. What am I gonna do
- 20:55Speaker 4: with it? When you can't see what you're going to?
- 20:57Speaker 5: Nicky? Someone's running till the end of the dog.
- 21:00Speaker 6: You see your shadow stop or our shuit? Okay, if
- 21:04Speaker 6: that's what you want.
- 21:08Speaker 4: Patty, I think you're drunk. Yeah, come on, do you
- 21:11Speaker 4: think it's witt Nick? There? He's right it should be.
- 21:13Speaker 4: He came down here after the log too, with a
- 21:15Speaker 4: nice piece of evidence he had to dispose of all
- 21:18Speaker 4: right here he is your dead many, oh blass? Yes,
- 21:24Speaker 4: I didn't want to kill him. Oh crack this fog, Nick,
- 21:28Speaker 4: Look what isn't pay.
- 21:30Speaker 5: This isn't Thomas Whittaker, but no, it's Captain Nacintire's first mate,
- 21:35Speaker 5: Al Gunher.
- 21:43Speaker 3: Bewildered, Nick, Patsy and Matty stare down at the body
- 21:45Speaker 3: on the dock. Does this mean that Nick's deductions were wrong?
- 21:48Speaker 3: That it was Gunther and not Thomas Whittaker who committed
- 21:51Speaker 3: the murders. We'll bring you the conclusion of this adventure
- 21:53Speaker 3: in just a minute. Now, for the conclusion of the
- 22:02Speaker 3: Case of the Nameless Blonde. Today's adventure with Nick Carter,
- 22:05Speaker 3: brought to you by new post war old Dutch cleanser.
- 22:09Speaker 3: Standing in the ghostly glow of a small electric lantern
- 22:11Speaker 3: on a log shrouded duck, Nick, Patsy and Matty stare
- 22:15Speaker 3: down at the man who has just died, surprised to
- 22:18Speaker 3: learn that it is not, as Nick had predicted, Thomas Whittaker.
- 22:23Speaker 5: Me this means Whittaker wa was a killer. It must
- 22:26Speaker 5: have been this man.
- 22:27Speaker 4: Gunter as he's right, Nick, looks like your big theory
- 22:30Speaker 4: kind of blew up your face. Maybe, Maddy, and then
- 22:33Speaker 4: again maybe not. Well, take a look at Gunther's body.
- 22:36Speaker 4: It'll be shot once in the head.
- 22:38Speaker 6: So what I fired three times?
- 22:40Speaker 4: Two of my shots missed one did he? Sorry? Maddy?
- 22:43Speaker 4: But all three of yours, Miss paw at Hill. Gunter
- 22:46Speaker 4: wasn't fired from your gun, now, Nick, your guy has
- 22:48Speaker 4: a forty five police automatic. A wound in his head
- 22:50Speaker 4: was obviously made by a gun of a much smaller caliber.
- 22:53Speaker 4: Holy smoked, Dick, you're rife, which means that Gunter was
- 22:56Speaker 4: the goat for somebody else. We're down here with the
- 22:58Speaker 4: murderer and the murderer him hoping we'd think we'd caught
- 23:01Speaker 4: our man, and that.
- 23:02Speaker 5: Means the murder is still somewhere on this dock.
- 23:05Speaker 2: Right, and that's too far away from that's Whittaker, Nick,
- 23:09Speaker 2: I know his voice.
- 23:10Speaker 4: Yeah, wherever he is, I can't see him because of
- 23:13Speaker 4: miss darn Pam.
- 23:13Speaker 6: I can see you, plainly, Carter, under that life hands all.
- 23:18Speaker 4: Of it wis he says, So he's already killed three
- 23:21Speaker 4: people to protect his interest in Marvin Stokes's estate.
- 23:24Speaker 6: So you're figuring it all out, did your Carter? I'm
- 23:27Speaker 6: sure you agree that I had no choice once I
- 23:29Speaker 6: learned that Marvin.
- 23:30Speaker 4: Was married and Martinie law Yes, and once she threatened
- 23:32Speaker 4: to prove that fact by hiring me to finally the
- 23:34Speaker 4: Captain McIntyre the log of the Simon Bernander.
- 23:38Speaker 3: But he made the mistake of paying a call on
- 23:40Speaker 3: before she went to your office.
- 23:42Speaker 4: I treated her well, In fact, I gave her a
- 23:44Speaker 4: couple of calls with Arson Akennett. Unfortunately, game and then
- 23:48Speaker 4: when you heard that McIntyre was going to meet us
- 23:50Speaker 4: at the Morgue, you ambushed him outside and shot him
- 23:51Speaker 4: before he could tell his story.
- 23:52Speaker 6: Right again, just as I'm going to shoot you.
- 23:55Speaker 4: I don't think so, Whittaker. He told us to raise
- 23:58Speaker 4: our hands, but you forgot to say anything thing about
- 24:00Speaker 4: dropping our gun.
- 24:02Speaker 5: Nice work, Nick, shooting out at life.
- 24:04Speaker 4: We can't see Yes any better than we can see him.
- 24:07Speaker 4: They trying to get a ruse. You can see it.
- 24:09Speaker 2: Slowey, stop, Whittinger, stop for us, Like what took you
- 24:29Speaker 2: so long?
- 24:30Speaker 4: I had to stay at the hospital. While Whittaker made
- 24:32Speaker 4: a statement, Oh what do he say? Everything was pretty
- 24:34Speaker 4: much the way we figured it. Passy we well you
- 24:37Speaker 4: know what I mean. Audreie Lawson, Mardorie Stokes, I should say,
- 24:41Speaker 4: arrived from London last week. You've been living there ever
- 24:43Speaker 4: since she left her husband.
- 24:45Speaker 5: Why did you leave him?
- 24:46Speaker 4: From what Whitaker said, they came from different social levels.
- 24:48Speaker 4: Stokes was wealthy and she was a shop girl. Apparently
- 24:51Speaker 4: after the honeymoon was over, he was ashamed of it.
- 24:53Speaker 5: Well that's a fine thing, wri.
- 24:56Speaker 4: They broke up only a few months after they were married.
- 24:58Speaker 5: And that must see why Stokes never mentioned the marriage.
- 25:00Speaker 4: Yeah, I suppose so. And the only proof Marjorie had
- 25:03Speaker 4: of that marriage was in that ship's log.
- 25:06Speaker 5: No marriage certificate.
- 25:07Speaker 4: Oh, Whittaker says. She told him all her papers were
- 25:10Speaker 4: destroyed in the London blitz during the war.
- 25:12Speaker 5: Oh, what a break, wasn't it.
- 25:15Speaker 4: She was probably looking for some kind of proof and
- 25:17Speaker 4: Strokes papers the night she bribed Weber to let her in.
- 25:19Speaker 1: Uh huh.
- 25:19Speaker 4: But she didn't find it, so she came to see me.
- 25:22Speaker 5: It don't makes sense, Nick, that is except for gun
- 25:25Speaker 5: So where did he fit in the picture?
- 25:27Speaker 4: Why you put him in the picture, Betsy? I did
- 25:31Speaker 4: by your reaction when he said he worked for Whittaker,
- 25:33Speaker 4: But it made him curious. He went straight to Whittaker
- 25:36Speaker 4: tonight to find out what it was all about.
- 25:38Speaker 5: Uh huh. And Whittaker persuaded him to help him find.
- 25:41Speaker 4: The log book, so it seems.
- 25:43Speaker 5: But how about Whitticker? Nick? Was he badly hurt?
- 25:47Speaker 4: Mattie's what got him in the right leg? I think
- 25:50Speaker 4: he'll be up and around in time to go on
- 25:52Speaker 4: the last walk he'll ever take?
- 26:04Speaker 3: Well, Nick, what about the adventure new post war old
- 26:06Speaker 3: Dutch Clem's is going to bring us next week?
- 26:08Speaker 4: Mike, It's one of my most unusual cases about a
- 26:10Speaker 4: man who prayed people to death. Prayed them to death?
- 26:14Speaker 4: Did they really die? I'll say they did?
- 26:16Speaker 5: And before it was all over, Mike, this man started
- 26:19Speaker 5: praying for Nick to die.
- 26:20Speaker 3: Well. I guess a lot of criminals that felt the
- 26:22Speaker 3: same way about Nick.
- 26:23Speaker 4: What do you call the story, Nick? I call it
- 26:26Speaker 4: a case and a salesman of death.
