The Gateway Inn outside Mount Rainier National Park is officially shut down after Pierce County declared it an immediate danger due to fire and building code violations. Despite being ordered closed in February for issues like faulty wiring, non-working smoke detectors, and dangerous chimney leaks, the inn ignored warnings, removed county signs, and continued renting rooms all summer.
